Illinois is not a fluke. They are a big team, good team, got a really good coach, and you know, watching that game against Iowa, they ever really they're relentless. And you know, I look at Yukon. I don't think this is a great Yukon team, not even a really good team.

Led by fourteen against Houston in the final four, lost, led by seventeen against Texas Tech, lost, led by thirteen against North Carolina, lost, led by nineteen against Connecticut yesterday and lost.

And so for me, look, it's going to be tough, but it's not gonna be on one play.

Duke played a perfect first half, perfect and when Charles Barkley said I don't see Connecticut coming back, I go, Connecticut's going to win this game, because Charles is never right on his bets. That was just a long jumper for a kid who in high school made about forty seven percent of his three pointers. He was one of the mister Indiana basketball players. And you know, twenty years ago, he doesn't end up at Connecticut. He's at Indiana. But boy, times have changed, and you start to look at the list of great players that Connecticut has had and has nothing really to show for it. Duke, I should say Jason Chatum, Zion, Williamson, Cooper Flag, Paolo Bancaro, Cam Boozer, Khan Kinnipple, RJ. Barrett, cam Reddish, Marvin Bagley. You know, I think it was probably ten years ago when we had coach k On and I said, you know, would you rather have the one and done or have the guy who's staying there three or four years? He said, you can't pass up the one and done. And this isn't necessarily an indictment on the one and done because you can't pass up Zion or Cooper, Flag or the Boozers. But you do need those season guys, you do, and I think you know Yukon's approaches. Let's get one of those guys and then we're gonna have guys who are gonna stay two or three years or maybe four years with Red.

Speaker 2: But it was fun to watch, you know, because it was halftime and I thought, I gotta find something else to do, and then we watch the golf and then all of a sudden flip back and I go, all right, if they get it to like seven, and then they got it to seven, and you get it to five and then all of a sudden, it's three now, all of a sudden. That's where you wonder when we talk about comebacks, how much energy do you have once you get back and you're tied or getting really close. It takes a lot of energy to get to that point. You're down fifteen, you're down nineteen, nothing's going your way, you're not shooting well at all. Yukon was five to twenty three from three point range, out rebounded by six, and they still won. But what three of those five came in the last couple of minutes. Those were the big ones. And Raylan Mullins Darren Revel, who keeps track of these things, said that the basketball from that shot may be worth up the three hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Well, I wonder where that ball is. I don't know how you get it. See it's weird, is it yours?

I mean the Boozers, I mean Shires. You know, there's nothing antagonistic or not wild or crazy like Dan.

This year's tournament nineteen Duke, this year's tournament nineteen.

They were so great on the perimeter plan defense, and then all of a sudden they forgotten. I was told yesterday during the game, North Carolina is playing not to lose in the second half, and it felt like Yukon and maybe Danny Hurley just said, hey, just keep going, chip away, chip away, chip away, chip away, hang in there, and you know, then they ended up getting those rebounds and points off. Turnovers were huge for them, and then all of a sudden, doubts starts to creep in when you have a nineteen point lead and all of a sudden it's single digits. Now, all of a sudden, you're going, wait, what's happening? How did we get here? How do we hold on and survive? And it was too late. It felt like Now, granted it took a miracle turnover and three pointer, but you allowed Connecticut to have that moment where they could win the game, and they took advantage of it. And if you know, Boozer was six for six from the line. It just happened quickly and then all of a sudden, you know, you realize Connecticut's going to win this. It was wait a minute, turned it over, and then all of a sudden pass and then jumper and then all of a sudden, it's you know, three or four tenths of a second left to go. But you know, I give him credit eighteen years of age. They didn't lose.

I get it kind of a bottom line sports society of that play in that jump shot, but it's so much more than that. But uh, that's one of those ones that you know, you're trying to figure out, what can you say to him? What can his dad say, mom say, brothers say, teammates, coach. There's no thing that eases at the end of the pain. And he's probably never going to be on the same team as his brother again because his brother's going to the NBA.

But with the possession error towards Yukon, I wouldn't think you'd want to just stand there and hold the ball and give them a chance for the tie up when there's two six eleven guys just down the court.

Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just wondering, can you throw you know, worst case scenario, but it happens so quickly, it's easy to say, oh, in that moment, he didn't think he was going to be tipped, but give give, like you know, dem he hit a three and made the tip, and we'll forget about that. We'll remember Mullins with the jumper. We'll remember Boozer with the turnover there. But it was a wild, wild finish. But one play didn't cost Duke. Many plays costs Duke. It was just the final one. We'll settle on that when it's easy to do that. But the second half they played not to lose Yeamar.

And we've said this before with Kentucky. I mean, Duke has become kind of the new Kentucky because Kentucky's not getting these players like they once did. Duke is but nothing to show for it. And to quote Joel and Risky, business looks like University Illinois fighting ILLNI and I go into the Final four and doing it. Five players on their roster from overseas and they account for almost sixty percent of their scoring in over fifty percent of their rebounding. I wonder if this will be the trend new trend in college basketball now that schools can pay their players. And my worst football had its first ever four point field goal on Saturday in the UFL game. You get four points for a field goal over sixty yards. The NFL commission says that's a rule that he's toying with four points for a field goal and only six points for a touchdown.

I'm glad there wasn't a technical foul call, but have you seen that video and what are your thoughts on that?

Look section roads, seat number, and I'm like, I've got this beautiful woman here a great concert, and I keep on picturing Pritsy. Fast forward to this past Saturday. I had a cousin of mine passed away and I get back way a month ago, but issue because he was a veteran, So they had to get like like naval permission to get like the bugle and all the Navy officers to come out and do the taps and all that, the presentation of the colors. So finally they do it, and it's an emotional day there we're at Rose Hill Cemetery doing all this and that, and then finally at the end, after they're done playing taps, the priest comes up and folks would like to welcome everybody back to the church. There's a nice spread that's been put on by missus Ernie and everything. And I'm sitting there, I'm like Fritzy Jesus Christ.
