00:00:00 Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous. 00:00:01 Speaker 2: It's Lala Kent. Welcome to Untraditionally, La La, Hello, gorgeous, Welcome to the bonus episode of Untraditionally Lala. We had so many listeners right in with confusion about where all of our names come from. I have had so many people ask why you and I don't have the same last name. 00:00:25 Speaker 1: We do? 00:00:26 Speaker 2: I know, we do. 00:00:28 Speaker 1: We do. You took our father's name and made it your last because my dad's name was not Kent Kent. I promise you no, we're the. 00:00:36 Speaker 2: Burninghams's name, hard as a motherfucker. But everyone would call me Lauren Birmingham and I'm like that my whole entire name is botched, right, Lauren Birmingham? 00:00:50 Speaker 1: What we have to what's your last name? Burningham? Like burning a chicken, but burning aham. And when I deal with. 00:00:56 Speaker 2: Insurance or like doctor's appointments, they're like, and what's your last name and date of birth? I'm like, Burningham, just like you're burning chicken, but burning. 00:01:04 Speaker 1: I can't tell you how many times, even with like going to the doctors and I'm like Burningham and I'll spell it out for him and they'll go, Okay, mister Birmingham and I go, no, it's burning, and they go can you spell that again? And it's like I fucking did, So there we go. Lala Kent is just so much easy here. No one's botching it. 00:01:22 Speaker 2: And I didn't start as Laala Kent. I started as Lauren Kent when I started acting when I was like twelve years old, and it. 00:01:29 Speaker 1: Was La you are why and well. 00:01:32 Speaker 2: Because I wanted it to be different. I wanted people to be like the who and how weird that Amber is with a y wow, didn't even think of that. I know HER's legit though HER's like government. Mine was just like trying to be a little different. But then when I moved to La, my childhood friends called me Lala, so I would introduce myself. 00:01:54 Speaker 1: First of all, I gave you that nickname. When I was a kid. I only liked my sister to come up and get me from the stairs. We had like these grand stairs with an entrance, and I just sit up at the top, I guess and go La La, And if my mom would come, I guess I didn't want her, so I would just yell to my sister to come and walk me down the stairs. 00:02:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, so it just stuck like I wasn't trying to be cool. I wasn't trying to be like edgy. 00:02:16 Speaker 1: It was just Lala in high school. 00:02:18 Speaker 2: La La B Yeah, I was La La in high school. 00:02:21 Speaker 1: I just remember, I'll never forget just walking. You were a senior. I was a sophomore. So we went to school, but like all the poly kids, La La yeah, La La. And then every time that's when I was like, okay, it's just La La yeah. But that's but that was not by choice. No, people just didn't know who I was. 00:02:40 Speaker 2: When I'm like, hi, I'm Lauren, and they're like who, and I'm like Danny's friend. Oh, La La Yeah, Sure, Okay, sounds good. That's my new name. It's my new name. People want to know why Slush? How is easton T T? I started calling you tit back in the day, and then we started, me and Brandon call you teeter. 00:03:01 Speaker 1: Teeter, and then I just think it went to T T. Honestly, I think it went to T T for kids. It's easier to say just like two syllables, T T. 00:03:12 Speaker 2: And you guys, I think is obsessed with which she just switched over. Now everything she'll come up to me. 00:03:23 Speaker 3: My favorite is when she wakes up with her crazy hair. Hello Gg, Hello Gg. But before that it was it was t She's actually and I don't know. 00:03:38 Speaker 2: I can't really remember when Ocean started doing this, but maybe you guys can pinpoint, like when kids start to clock, like, oh, go get this for me. Sosa is just shy of a year and a half. And she had Gg's phone and I said, go give it to Gg and she looked around, walked it over and said he. And then she was playing with toys and I gave her a pack of gum, like in a closed I needed her to just calm down, and I was like, where is the gum? Sosa? Do you remember the gum? And I like explained it to her and she looked around and found it under the couch. 00:04:20 Speaker 1: She is really good at that is Ocean. 00:04:22 Speaker 2: Ocean's five. 00:04:23 Speaker 1: Ocean has been good at it for her. She has yes think of every time we're like where did you put this? And she's like, I'll be right back, and she brings it out and they'll be like where did you put it? She goes, it was in my purse and I'm like where, Okay, you're right, I can't. 00:04:38 Speaker 2: Remember specific timelines, but I'm like, I can't remember, but because I'm thinking that she is, I. 00:04:45 Speaker 1: Think she could be doing it before Ocean. I think she's doing it before Ocean. I think Ocean maybe started doing that around two and a half. Three she could, so I think it was sooner than that. You do, Yeah, Ocean was singing Mariah Carey at a year and a half. I don't remember her bringing me stuff or you know, was cleaner time. 00:05:06 Speaker 2: After Ocean was seven months after that. I kind of just was like short circuiting Jesus. People want to know how Mom got the name Gigi as her as the grandma name. 00:05:20 Speaker 1: Well, it was supposed to be Mema and Poppy. It was me, Mom Poppy, and then Poppy Poppy said bye, and so didn't want to be Yeah, it reminds, yeah, which Mema is awful. Well, if you got the Poppy with it, Mema is great. Mema alone not so great. 00:05:43 Speaker 2: So then and she was like, I don't love it, and she goes, can I be Gigi? 00:05:47 Speaker 1: But with an I like with. 00:05:48 Speaker 2: Eyes, g I g I And I was like, if that's what, I don't really care. And our grandma her mom was Mimi and I think that's why she she wanted to die. Yeah, yeah, I think Gg's Q and even London and Dreson our niece and. 00:06:06 Speaker 1: Nephew they call her. They they switched. 00:06:10 Speaker 2: They like grew up with her as Mema, and then just overnight it was like, so she's no longer mem they they call her, which would be a hard transition. If Mimi suddenly was like, I don't want to be me me anymore, I want to be something else, I'd be like, well that kind of throws me off life. 00:06:28 Speaker 1: You're still me. Sorry, I couldn't change. I'm a kid. 00:06:32 Speaker 2: I'm a kid. 00:06:33 Speaker 1: You're me me now? 00:06:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Why do you prefer la La over Lauren? Do you care your family still calls you Lauren? I think it's weird. If my mom calls me la La, it's very weird. I'm like, weird. Please don't call me la La. It feels unnatural. 00:06:50 Speaker 1: I don't think we any of us. I'll call you law now, you call me law or Lauren Lauren. 00:06:57 Speaker 2: But like my niece and nephew have always called me Laala, so it's not weird when they. 00:07:01 Speaker 1: Called me, that's because that was you were la La to them. Before you were famous on television being when when. 00:07:07 Speaker 2: The Russons, if they ever called me Laala, I'd be like, what is wrong with you? 00:07:11 Speaker 1: Know? They call you Lauren? Yeah, it's no Bart calls me Lou Lou, Yeah, hey Lou. I like that. 00:07:22 Speaker 2: Yeah. There's just certain people that like the Apple and Alps, Maddie and Danny always called me Laala, so I only, no, no, that is my name. There's just certain people where I'm like, you never call me that, so why are you calling me that? It bothers me when people who I met after the fact call me Lauren because I'm like, you don't know that girl like Lauren from Utah has roots and history and went through a lot of shit to get where. You don't know that girl, like it is la la for you because you have no idea where I come from. 00:07:59 Speaker 1: It's like your name being Melope and then like you're going by Penny and somebody going high Penelope. Do you know me, you bitch? 00:08:06 Speaker 2: Yeah? And it's not like I get annoyed because I don't like the name. First of all, most people say Lauren, so it's like that's not my name, it's Lauren. So that's annoying in itself, but I get annoyed because you don't know me like that. Like people call me Lauren from Utah, which is an acronym by the way, I love you as if it's an insult, and I'm like, it's not an insult. I didn't change my name to Laala to like seem cool or get from Utah or get away from it like I'm well aware one on my shoulder, like I appreciate where I come from. I appreciate my name, but you did not grow up with me there, therefore you do not know me like that. It is la La to you, sir. Yeah, what are Ocean Sosa's nicknames? I call Ocean oh and Sosa, So I call Sosa Sosa. I call her mini much Yeah, that's yeah, sosas mini munch to me. 00:09:18 Speaker 1: And then Ocean is Obo because when she was a little girl, she'd always have the giant boson. So I called her Obo so Obo for Ocean, mini munch for Sosa. 00:09:28 Speaker 2: Those are so cute. Mine are so just like not cool. Oh bo oh you guys. My mom used to get Ocean or Sosa to say uh, Ocean or Obo. 00:09:43 Speaker 1: Because she couldn't go Obo. 00:09:45 Speaker 2: And put her hands around her mouth. 00:09:48 Speaker 1: To like because she could say t tgg and Ocean was like sad that Sosa couldn't say Ocean. So we were coming up with a new thing and it was Obo. So Lisa, trying to teach, would go. 00:09:59 Speaker 2: Oh, it seem a little bit more fun to say. 00:10:02 Speaker 1: And then and so now every time Sosa says Ocean's name, she puts her hand on her nose and goes all ball because she thinks that's the only way to do it. 00:10:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, plugs her nose. Oh, it's really cute, Sosa is I mean throughout Utah, she was so clingy to me it was almost difficult. 00:10:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, no, she doesn't. That's all the time. 00:10:29 Speaker 2: What do you mean, it's all the time that she's clingy to me. 00:10:32 Speaker 1: Yes, Like when you're like, can you watch, Like, here's the thing, always happy to watch. But when you're in the house and I have to watch your kid, nightmare, nightmare, and she knows where you are and she can hear, so she'll always try to get to you. If I pick her up, she'll m and she'll be looking up. So because she wants you. Once you're out of the house, she's great yeah, and she just wants Mama no. 00:10:53 Speaker 2: And that's amazing, And it's just so funny that I bring this up because the entire part, and I guess reason in for me wanting the donor was obviously to avoid what happened in the past happening again, me wanting a baby that's just mine, and she is just mine, you guys, she doesn't want anybody else. If if the moment I walk into a room Easton, my mom have told me when they're watching her, she is so chill. The easiest the moment I walk into a room. 00:11:26 Speaker 1: Eh, I had when we went to breakfast to lunch, when you guys went to lunch when we were in Utah. I took the kiddos to lunch one day just because they were far card day. But she was sitting at the table, not a peep. Yeah. Made. And then Lauren and Lisa came to meet us and write when the Ocean or Sosa saw her Eh in the seat. 00:11:51 Speaker 2: I say, you know what, I relate to that because I feel like with you and Mom, I'm actually very high maintenance, very high strung, and when I'm with other people, I think that I would be described as pretty chull like girl find like a hat, easy going. 00:12:09 Speaker 1: Easy going, and there find the happy media. 00:12:13 Speaker 2: And that's why can I tell you? And this sounds so rude. It's not meant to be rude. I say, Sosa is so triggering for me in the way that like when you're with someone who is you and you're like, I don't know if I like this, but she's my kid, so obviously I adore and love her, but I'm like, oh my god, it is like dealing with myself, Like she's very temperamental, very particular, very high stries. 00:12:39 Speaker 1: When I tell you, if you if she has something in her hand and you just slightly take it away, she'll look at you down and then right when you know that, when you see her lip quivering, grab her, give her to her mother because it's over, and she will. 00:12:53 Speaker 2: Just melt into me as if someone like hurt her feelings beyond words, where she is a mess and I have to console her for. 00:13:03 Speaker 1: Like five minutes, yes minutes on x three minutes of her crying uncontrollably because we hurt her feelings. We took away a toy, a little puzzle or something she cannot be playing. 00:13:16 Speaker 2: Oh and she wanted to stick her finger in the out socket, so I said, uh, you tap, and then she kept doing it, so I I used my index fing here just to like, yeah, oh my god, yeah, lip quivering, lose, losing her mind. 00:13:34 Speaker 1: Yeah, the lip quivers, and then you just see one tear and then it's all over. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: And then you got ocean gangster. 00:13:41 Speaker 1: Why she crying? We don't know, Man, tell her, she's always crying Ocean. 00:13:48 Speaker 2: The other day goes Selsa, your mom is sick of hearing you cry it's quiet time because she heard me say to my mom, I'm really sick of hearing her cry. Oh she's a lot, when I tell you. I walked in the door yesterday when we got home from Utah. Cynthia arrived, and I was like a nap. 00:14:08 Speaker 1: I gave big old you and then nice seeing you. 00:14:13 Speaker 2: I know, I was so excited I could sort of comfort I could. I was so excited and I it was like two pm, and I was like, I don't give one shit about anything. I just need to submerge my entire body into water. I took a nap, I took a hot shower, and then learned it's Chinese New Year and you're not supposed to wash your hair, and I thought, oh fuck, I literally you didn't. 00:14:39 Speaker 1: No, I have to today. I haven't even had time. I feel disgusting right now. 00:14:42 Speaker 2: I mean, I don't mean to be gross, but it's a rare occasion that I wash my hair because I just like it better with a little grit. 00:14:49 Speaker 1: Like I'm like, y, well, you shouldn't wash your hair also three times a week? 00:14:55 Speaker 2: Right? 00:14:55 Speaker 1: Two to three? I heard too much product. 00:14:57 Speaker 2: I don't know it is, but like, I'm trying to get mine healthy. I got like all these baby hairs. I'm trying to get rid of thel and the dead ends. 00:15:05 Speaker 1: I'm asking our friends too, you need to be careful. Well, I wash it through. I know that's why my dreadlocks. 00:15:11 Speaker 2: You wash it three times a week. 00:15:12 Speaker 1: I get it wet usually every night, but I wash it with my t tre shir Boy shampoo three times. 00:15:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, I like it. I like it two times a week type. 00:15:22 Speaker 1: Of Okay, I do three, but my treads are starting to like break. Oh no, you need to cast her oil tream. I know, guys, they're starting to break you all. 00:15:31 Speaker 2: When I talk to people like Michelle who washed their hair every day. She called me last night she was like, put water, put water outside of your door for money. Also, don't wash your hair. I was like, oh no, I already didn't. She was I'm tweaking out. You know. I wash my hair every day and I can't wash it Michelle. 00:15:46 Speaker 1: But her hair is beautiful, so. 00:15:50 Speaker 2: It speaks for itself, rightad of gorgeous hair anyway, So there's that. I love you, t T. Thanks for joining me for the nest episode. Here's welcome you guys. Thank you for listening to another bonus episode of Untraditionally La La.
