I also have a quick story that's non sports before I get to it that I read that I think you guys would find fascinating and I want you all to be the legal jury as to what should happen. Do you know who John Lennon is? Yes, John Lennon for those of you that don't know, is a Beatle all right. And in nineteen eighty he was photographed, uh walking out of a building and he had on a watch. Okay, it was a Rolex watch. It's a famous photograph and it is rumored to be potentially one of the most expensive watches ever on Earth. It was a special edition Rolex. They only made three hundred of them. It's it's one of the last pictures of John Lennon and he's wearing this watch, and watch officionados have wondered where is this watch? Right? Okay? Fast forward? He gave it, obviously to Yoko Ono as part of the divorce. Yoko Ono puts it in a safe. Fifty twenty five years later, the watch turns up and this Turkish guy has John Lennon's watch, and he claims he has John Lennon's watch now. The Turkish guy was John Lennon and Yoko Ono's bodyguard from night teen seventy eight until like two thousand. Long story short, There's some rumors he and Yoko Ono had a thing. Whatever it was, they had a falling out. He actually got some credinal charges. He gets deported to Turkey, takes the watch with it. Okay. He claims John Lennon, before he died, gave him as a thank you to his years of service this watch. Okay, but John Lennon is now dead. Fast forward two thousand and five. He's in Turkey. He's living in Turkey. In twenty ten, he sells the watch to another guy who hears, hey, where'd you get this watch? I was John Lennon's bodyguard. Here's proof I was John Lennon's bodyguard. The guy goes, makes sense, right. Guy keeps the watch for a few years. Twenty twenty two sells the watch to somebody else who's got John Lennon's watch. That guy is like, I've got something valuable. He decides to put the watch up for auction. Auction house goes John Lennon's watch. Yoko Ono, who's now eighty seven years old, sees the story and goes, wait a minute, I have that watch. Goes to her save and the watch is gone. So John So now the second guy to buy it, not the original one. The original guy's dead. Okay. The guy who had it first time, he's dead. Guy who bought it in twenty twenty two says, I bought this watch. It's mine. Lennon gave it to so and so. Yoko Ono says, my husband would have never given away that watch. It was supposed to be in this safe. This guy stolen now at court in Switzerland, has to decide next week who gets the watch yoko Ono, who claims it was wrongly stolen and that for twenty five years she didn't know because she kept it in the safe that she never opened and didn't find out until the notice of the auction came up. Or the guy who's not alleged to have stolen it, who legally bought it. But it's stolen, so if the original guy didn't have legal ownership, he wasn't able to buy it. The Court of Switzerland has to decide who gets it, the guy who bought it or yoko Ono. What would you do knowing those set of facts, who would you give the watch to?

I mean our our three point contests tonight, there's six guys in it and it could go anyway, Like everybody can shoot. It could go off and not miss a shot. The main thing I love about our team is how competitive we are, Like every day in practice, whether we're doing five on zero for for whatever it is, or five on five, Like, it's so competitive and it gets salty at times, and that's something that you.

I mean, I don't think the drop off from one to twelve is huge, and I feel like all of you guys have a shot to play. Do you agree with that when you watch practice and play practice.

Speaker 11: I would definitely agree with that. I think it's kind of a unique dynamic that we have. Obviously, like the transfer portal has made it so so different. So all the maybe the nine guys that we got from the transfer portal were one, two or three on their last team, so they've led in that role, and then our freshmen have learned to lead under them. So I think we have a solid twelve guys that can come in and do different roles. I think Coach Pope did a great job of simbling a team that has common strengths but also can cover up each other's weaknesses. So I think that's something they'll really be evident on the floor that when I.

Speaker 11: Like, yeah, obviously there's a lot of a lot of different things going through your mind, Like you just so much uncertainty there. You don't know who they're gonna hire, Like you said, you don't know if they're gonna if the way that I played.

He always facetimes, he never calls, and had it connected to my car, was listening to music and he just starts screaming like so loud. I had to turn the volume down to like so low so I could just just even have a manageable conversation. But from the first conversation he was exactly how he is, energetic, excited to be here, and excited for what's to come.

Speaker 11: He is, he does a lot, you know from the beginning, he's kind of you know, he's played college basketball for a long time, but he's also done life for a long time, a lot longer than we have. So I joke with him about that that he's closer in hr coaches than I am to him.

Speaker 11: But really we get to I'll do everything with him, Like he takes me to church all the time, we go play golf together. We have meetings with the coaches about finances all the time, and and he's talked to me about investing, like trying to trying to help me with that. Yeah, your second region against my region, the thirteenth region in the finals, now the second region one. But whatever, But you all you played, you played against Trent Noah, and now you guys are on the same team.

You know, at the time of the state tournament, we didn't really know it was gonna happen. But you know, he's been a guy that I followed, been friends with forever, and obviously the way that he came to Kentucky high school basketball. He's such a great player and was so it's exciting to be able to live out that dream with him, come have similar experiences, go through the same struggles, and have the same mount of phone with him up there.

Speaker 2: I've said all year, like, it's hard. I have no idea honestly, like how good you guys are gonna be. It's like it hard to know. I know you're gonna be good, but it's hard for me to picture. I know the goal in that locker room is win the national championship. That's always the goal. But in your heart, where do you feel this team is starting the seaton?

Speaker 11: Obviously for me it's it's hard as well to know like how good we are compared to other college basketball teams, just not having been a part of one before, but just the vibe that we kind of have, the togetherness that we have, I feel like that's something that really translates to the court. It'll be good to kind of get to test against teams that are ourselves, but I feel like we were very connected. We have, Like I said, a lot of guys that have great strengths, but also we have guys that strengths cover up each other's weaknesses, and I think that's big for us. We're gonna have a lot of depth and a lot of different lineups that we could go to. So I think it's gonna be a lot of fun and I think we'll be very successful.

Speaker 11: A Otaka is one of the best defenders I've ever played against. Like Lamar is an amazing defender. Everybody talks about his defense. Otaga can defend at the highest level as well, like it's he's a matchup problem. And then he was on my team all week this week and just getting downhill like he'll he'll drive and hit somebody with the shoulder and they'll just just fall down and he'll go up and dunk it like he's he's such a great player, but a great leader as well, a great teammate Brandon Garrison. Brandon's Brandon is amazing. You know, he's kind of a younger guy. Was a McDonald's All American. So he can really play. But he's got a got a great motor, and I think that's something shot blocker, very great shot blocker, very athletic, and I think that would be important for us him coming in and having a high motor.

I came up to you and said, you know, you've had a spotlight on you since eighth grade, right in a small place in Kentucky with the whole state rooting for you. You know, we have our friend Jamie Daniel who's from there, and so you've been in the bar over the years when you've played and all that and watching you hit, like, see all those expectations, meet them, handle yourself the way you did, break the state scoring record, win the state championship, and then get to play for Kentucky. I'm not sure there's a better story in Kentucky basketball period. And now that you're gonna get to do this, I am immensely proud of you.
