We'll have our tweet of the day or call the day or song of the day, we'll have a lot of stuff. We're kind of gonna just pull out because we got to call this morning, but we got a text matches this morning. Our beloved big Toe a little under the weather this morning, Drew. Yeah, he's back in Kentucky, but he's a little underweather this morning. 00:01:13 Speaker 4: First off, we hope he gets feeling better. 00:01:14 Speaker 2: Absolutely. 00:01:15 Speaker 4: I mean for him to take the show off, you know, he must be hurting pretty bad whatever's keeping him down. But yeah, I mean, if anyone hurd the pregame show. The other day, we had the little wrinkle and had to take over and we ended up winning a basketball game. So we'll do it again today and we'll fill in these two hours and put together a good show. 00:01:28 Speaker 2: So we hope young Matthew is feeling better because we need him this weekend with the show We've got tomorrow at Whiskey Thief in NW lou Tomorrow's show, and then of course the game on Saturday. Then we'll get to talk a lot about as well. I know Mann always does a weather report in the morning when we opens a show. We're supposed to get dumped with like buckets of rain. Today like buckets. I get his post to just have a day, Loge, I think of rain today? 00:01:48 Speaker 4: Do you know that I didn't? But I'll give you my weather report. 00:01:51 Speaker 2: All right. 00:01:51 Speaker 4: I'm happy to see my yard again. It finally yesterday at about three thirty is when the last pile of snow disappeared. So I'm glad we're just past all that. I'd rather not have rain. But the snow lasted a little too long around here. 00:02:04 Speaker 2: See, I still got a ton of snow in my yard because the way it sits, it blocks the sun, and it's it's always in the shade like most of the day. So I still got a ton of snow. So all right, so listen, we're gonna make this an ask anything Thursday. We need your help today since we're kind of without our big toe. We got some topics lined up for you. But we have to start mattle. He starts also with the little story. He likes to share a story before we get into the topics of the day. Shannon, you know what he does. 00:02:27 Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I know. 00:02:28 Speaker 5: I mean I've been on the show for fourteen years now. I think I know the format. 00:02:32 Speaker 2: Cranky Shannon's here. We'll get to that's part of it. 00:02:35 Speaker 4: So how the Reds do. 00:02:36 Speaker 2: Yesterday the Reds they did sign a funny they signed Taylor Rogers, former UK baseball player. The Reds signed him yesterday. 00:02:48 Speaker 4: I was kidding, but then we actually had Redes walked into that one. 00:02:51 Speaker 2: I remember seeing that Taylor Rogers, a guy I think when he left UK, I think had a losing record, a high e r A and now been in the big leagues for like twelve years. Because it just goes to show you left handed pitcher, you can get people out. Man, They're gonna find a spot for you. 00:03:06 Speaker 4: Yeah, and I saw looking at some you know, I'm a big major league baseball gup. I'm always sure. At the news, I saw Kentucky prospect Waldy from last year's team. He was listed at the Athletics like among the players to watch now they've listed a lot of players. He was number sixty two. But that's still exciting for Waldy going up to the big leagues. 00:03:23 Speaker 2: On the list. 00:03:24 Speaker 4: Yeah, I wasn't on the list for you. 00:03:25 Speaker 2: On the list, I was definitely not on the list. 00:03:27 Speaker 4: Good for him too, looking forward to seeing him get started. 00:03:29 Speaker 2: So we're gonna let you do. You start the storytelling today. You tell your story first. It's a good one. 00:03:34 Speaker 4: I had an awesome Wednesday night. I my dad and I. We didn't really talk Tuesday night. Everyone that knows my dynamic there. He loves the Tennessee balls. I hate the Tennessee balls. We took Tuesday off as a family, so I'll talk to you tomorrow. So we decided to go watch Transy last night, come together and watch basketball as a father and son and not think about what happened the night before. Although I reminded him off. So we went and watched Transy versus Bria at Transy at the Clive Beck Center. I haven't been there in many years. It's still a beautiful place. I walked right in first person. I see is Don Lane wearing an old school Transy sweatshirt, just like I assume he's always there at every game. 00:04:12 Speaker 2: Probably wears the same sweatshirt every game. 00:04:14 Speaker 4: Yes, I love seeing him there. You know, it's a family atmosphere with the Lanes. But the game was what I want to talk about. It was incredible, and first of all, people should go to Transy games. They're a lot of fun, but this one in particular, I'm a little I'm not positive on my stats here, but people were telling me Bria is new to the Heartland Conference, which is what Transy's in, so this was like a big deal. I knew something was up when they both teams took a photo before the game. Someone said that they haven't played in like sixty years, and a Kentucky team against Transy in the conference. I'm gonna say that stats could prove it wrong. Regardless's been a long time since Bria has been you know, in this situation, Bria went up huge early. We're considering leaving early. It's pretty bad. Transy comes back, but at the end it was just back and forth. Bria had a layup to basically win it. They're up three, they got breakaway. TRANSI gets a chase down block to stay alive and then hits a three to tie. It's up with the ball again and Brian Lane draws up the perfect full court play with three seconds on the clock to win, gets another wide open layup and Maria comes and gets down the block. So we go to overtime and Transy goes on to win it there. But I had so much fun, and there's a player at Transy that I believe you coached Hunter Pin. Hunter Pin, I have a new favorite basketball player. I love Hunter Pin. 00:05:28 Speaker 2: I coached him. Know when he was like four or five, six, seven, eight years old, he was on my baseball play. 00:05:33 Speaker 4: Well, you get credit. They honored him to a thousand point thousand point club. But I'm telling you I don't I don't mean any disrespect here, but when he is done playing at Transy, the YMCA's around Lexington need to look out because that dude is coming to get buckets man basketball. He is the ultimate YMCA big man. He and a friend of the program, Ian Reeser, had big games. But I had to shout out your boy Hunter Pin in a great Transy Bria game in downtown Lexington. I had so much fun. 00:05:56 Speaker 2: Well, I told you I went earlier when they played handover and I'm going for huntersay, and you looked it up. February fifteenth, fifteen, three o'clock. I cook your plays that night. So we're going to the senior day game on the fifteenth at three o'clock. 00:06:07 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I didn't expect to get as into the game as I did. When they hit the three to tie it at the end, I'm standing up shooting the Jamal Murray bow and arrow with people I don't even know. I mean, I had a blast. So shout out to Trensy. I had to make sure I got that on the air today. It's a Hunter pen in research. Nice number twenty his name slip my mind. He had a million threes. But everyone should go watch the Brian Lane show down there. 00:06:28 Speaker 2: Well, we mentioned the Senior Day game on the fifteenth, they play Mount Saint Joseph. That's where I was yesterday with little Josiah. So you talked about your father son experience with your dad. I had a father son experience experience with my son yesterday. Took him on a college visit and uh as promised. I got in the gear, put the helmet on, put the jersey on, got a couple of little photos with him. So I Shannon doesn't like that the parent needs to keeping their plays. But Shannon, come on, man, this doesn't happen. 00:06:56 Speaker 5: Hold on a minute now, you're getting it wrong. Like I'm totally fine with you being a part of the pictures. I'm just saying like you shouldn't be like dictating where your kid goes to school. That's all I'm saying. I love your pictures with Joe Siah. I think they're great. You don't look like much of a blocker though, according to that one picture, it looks like you just run right over you. 00:07:12 Speaker 2: Oh dude, are you kidding out done proper stances? There's no way he's coding that seat. We're lining up and said, you can't get by me. You're not gonna get by me. 00:07:19 Speaker 4: So what are these visits like? Are you watching looking over his shoulder and like, are you really trying to like watching him to see if he's really into it? Are you yourself just looking around lost and aimlessly or how are you as a dad in these adventures? 00:07:31 Speaker 2: It's not a roller? 00:07:32 Speaker 4: Are you playing? 00:07:32 Speaker 2: It's funny you say that because I purposely when we're walking around Kevi's on the sidewalk, I let Josiah walk side by side with the head coach coach hop the head coach took him on his tour yesterday. I was behind him, about two steps behind him, trying to just listen to the conversation, you know, because Josie didn't talk a whole lot, but he was asking questions. So that as a dad made me really proud that Hey, man, he's he's growing up, you know, he's actually into this and wants to know, asking some really good questions to the coach. 00:07:59 Speaker 4: Well, me knowing Josiah's too, I mean he you know, he doesn't talk a whole lot pret quiet kids, so even I would you know, just seeing him being out going like that and showing interest, I can understand. 00:08:06 Speaker 5: Well, when did you go on visits like when you were you know, trying to figure out where you wanted to play college baseball? 00:08:12 Speaker 6: Uh? 00:08:12 Speaker 2: We did go to Kentucky Westland and we went to uh well, I think my mom and dad and we went to Indiana Central Courses now I U p U I. I think now you changed the name of it, and it was it was in Indiana Central at the time. I just remember how that was it. 00:08:24 Speaker 5: I remember like doing like a trip to like Campbellsville and Lindsay Wilson, and I never knew like what to ask the coach, like do you have any questions? 00:08:31 Speaker 3: I'm like, uh no, you know, it. 00:08:34 Speaker 5: Was always like awkward. So that's good that he was actually asking questions. Yeah, you know, leaning on you to do all the talking. 00:08:41 Speaker 2: Asking questions that I wouldn't think to ask. I heard him ask one time, like when did you guys finally doing the uh the spread offense? 00:08:47 Speaker 4: Look at this? 00:08:48 Speaker 3: Wow? 00:08:49 Speaker 2: You know how many receivers do you usually play a game? 00:08:52 Speaker 4: Okay? 00:08:52 Speaker 2: You know things like. 00:08:53 Speaker 4: That, how's the n i OL bucket? Do you ask that? 00:08:56 Speaker 6: Uh? 00:08:57 Speaker 2: No, I don't know. Mount Saint Joseph has a very deepen al bucket. 00:09:01 Speaker 4: Involved if we need to. 00:09:02 Speaker 2: It's way up on the west side of Cincinnati, way up on the hill. So it's beautiful out there, you know. Sits right on the river. You can look across the river and there's Kenton County right across the river over There've got someboddy of them here from Kenton County. Yeah, drove down. That's right. 00:09:14 Speaker 4: So you might want him to put it out. Did you have any feel like we've got top three year old announce or any graphics being made or like I said, hats on the table. 00:09:22 Speaker 2: He doesn't talk, and as we're walking to the car, he starts talking like, Dad, low key, I got a tough decision. Now, I don't know. I really like hanover, but I really like this visit today. 00:09:30 Speaker 3: So, uh, which does Ryan like. 00:09:36 Speaker 4: These coaches are listening? Yeah? 00:09:38 Speaker 2: I could not predict right now, what he's gonna come. I seriously don't know. 00:09:41 Speaker 4: Give the stock answer. If you're just gonna, you know, make it. Let him make a decision. Everyone respected. 00:09:45 Speaker 2: It's it's it's the kid's decision. You know. There's no I in Lemon. You know, it's you play it one game at a time. 00:09:51 Speaker 4: There's a me, there's true words a little bit so really little Heartland Conference Radio here, we can name more Heartland schools in this first segment than maybe ever in the history. 00:10:00 Speaker 2: Chancy hand over Saint Joe. So that's what our two story. 00:10:02 Speaker 4: Napier's my guy. Sorry it slipped my mind. Colby he was the leading score Big Three. He was a lot of fun to watch. 00:10:07 Speaker 2: So we told our two stories. If you heard the KSR pre show this morning, Shannon was whining and crying for like fifteen minutes about what happened to him last night. Shannon, you were like, I need give me sleep. 00:10:21 Speaker 3: Is that your impersonation to me? 00:10:24 Speaker 2: That's my impersonation of Shannon. 00:10:25 Speaker 5: You gonna work on your impersonations. You don't do a good Joe Biden. You don't do a good Me. 00:10:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, Franky Shannon's here, today. 00:10:31 Speaker 5: In the last thirty hours, I think I've slept about forty five minutes thanks to a really bad decision of mine to accept a role to play an extra in a movie that was filmed in Louisville, and I immediately regretted it when I showed up and realized this is going to go on for a long time. You know, I showed up thinking, all right, this may go on for three four hours. I'll be out of here by midnight. It'll be fun. Get to do a little background acting. No like again, like you just said, If you want to hear the full rant, I would highly suggest to go listen to the Ksrprecial one podcast later today. 00:11:04 Speaker 3: But long story. 00:11:05 Speaker 5: Short, Ryan, I was there and midnight comes and goes, and then it's one am, and then it's two, and then it's three, and then it's four am until they wrapped this thing, and I'm going, what do I do? 00:11:16 Speaker 3: At this point? 00:11:16 Speaker 5: I got I'm normally up at five thirty in the morning, Ryan, and it's four thirty right now. 00:11:21 Speaker 3: So do I go home? Do I sleep in my car? What do I do? 00:11:25 Speaker 5: I decided to drive all the way back home, laid down for maybe forty five minutes, got right back up and then showed up back. 00:11:30 Speaker 3: Here at the radio station. 00:11:31 Speaker 5: And I am dragging my butt right now, like I am tired. I may fall asleep at the wheel. So if this thing goes off the air, that's that's what happened. I fell asleep. 00:11:40 Speaker 2: Just a warning to our callers today, Drew, cranky, Shannon may be answer the phone. Just just be ready. 00:11:45 Speaker 4: Hey, I think that's good radio. 00:11:46 Speaker 2: He may put you on. He may decide not to. 00:11:48 Speaker 4: Put you on. 00:11:48 Speaker 3: Hey, this I was telling Billy. 00:11:51 Speaker 5: Do you know who like these actors are, like Bill Scarguard, the guy that played penny Wise and the new IT movie. 00:11:57 Speaker 3: Did you see that one? 00:11:58 Speaker 2: Ryan, Drew, It'd see the new movie, But I don't know who that guy is. 00:12:02 Speaker 4: I know who that guy is. He's kind of scary looking, even without having the penny Wise stuff on. Right. 00:12:06 Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a freaky looking guy. 00:12:08 Speaker 5: Then Carrie el was who I was telling Drew is in the movie Saw which you said we were talking off the air. 00:12:13 Speaker 3: You've seen that. 00:12:14 Speaker 5: He's in the Prince's Bride, He's in Robin Hood, memb. But tights, I feel like that's one Ryan. The scene Robin Hood Robin Hood saw that. Did you say, I try to have seen that, but were talking about that. 00:12:30 Speaker 4: I have a Shannon movie question. This isn't your first time doing this extra role. Are you trying to climb the ladder? And is this your path the Hollywood or is this this a little hobby just add more to your your resume. 00:12:42 Speaker 5: You know, I don't really know why I said yes, It just felt like something that would be fun to do. 00:12:47 Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean in theory. 00:12:48 Speaker 5: Yeah, next time, I'm gonna tell him don't call me unless you got a speaking role for me. Because this background stuffs were the birds. I don't want to do this anymore. I don't think that's the way you climb the ladder in Hollywood though, you know, I think you got to go read for a part art. So maybe instead of doing background work I'll just maybe go try to read for a part next time. 00:13:04 Speaker 3: So I have a speaking rule. 00:13:06 Speaker 2: Well, I heard you say you have on like a stripper cop, police officer, stripper. 00:13:12 Speaker 5: No, they wanted me to be a state trooper. I said, oh, that sounds fun. I could to go put on a uniform and yeah, it. 00:13:18 Speaker 4: Was like a sexy state trooper. 00:13:19 Speaker 3: No, No, just a regular No, like a night This was from like the seventies. 00:13:23 Speaker 5: This is like an old school nineteen seventy seven, like Indiana State Trooper uniform. 00:13:28 Speaker 2: Did you post a picture of it? 00:13:29 Speaker 3: I did? 00:13:30 Speaker 5: Yeah, I posted a bathroom selfie because see they're really They're like, they don't want you to take pictures on the set or anything like that, but I got I gotta go sneak a picture, right. 00:13:37 Speaker 3: The only place I could sneak a picture was this nasty bathroom. 00:13:40 Speaker 5: That will the dirty bathroom mirror, and I go, at least I'll have a picture to share with everybody, me in my uniform. 00:13:47 Speaker 3: So wow, Yeah, that's authentic. 00:13:49 Speaker 4: That's not like, that's not Halloween Express. 00:13:51 Speaker 3: That's it's props. I had a gun. I had a little billy club. 00:13:55 Speaker 5: If things got out of hand, I could just whack somebody with my billy club. I had cuffs, the whole thing, a little badge, the hat. 00:14:03 Speaker 4: It's impressive. Don't look official, A much more official than I expected when you sent me to look at that photo. I would pull over if you if you told me too. 00:14:11 Speaker 2: Is there anything you would stay up until four thirty in the morning for Shannon stays up til four thirty in the morning to be an extra in a movie. Is there anything you would stay up till four thirty in the morning for. 00:14:21 Speaker 3: Nothing? We could say on the air, probably. 00:14:25 Speaker 4: Those are the activities of Shannon keeps to himself. 00:14:28 Speaker 2: I have a hard time making it till eleven o'clock these days. 00:14:30 Speaker 4: Oh my god. 00:14:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just saying I will never do that again. If you ever get the opportunity, don't take it. Don't do it. It's not nearly as glamorous as you say. All you think movies it's gonna be, you know, Hollywood and glamor. Now it's a whole lot of hurry up and wait standing around. 00:14:44 Speaker 3: It's awful. 00:14:45 Speaker 4: The Mountie hat really sets it off. Though I didn't expect the hat. That's what got me. 00:14:49 Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, before we go to commercial break, we do need to just mention the tragic mid air collision that happened in Washington, d C. Happened late last night and army helicopter ran into a small jet. They've announced today there are no survivors, so it's a recovery effort at this point. It also came out this morning that they were members of the United States figure skating team on the plane that were in Wichital. The plane originated from Wichital. They were in Wichital, I think for the nationals for flying back to their homes or a training center or something. So just awful. True, it's just awful. There's video of it actually happening. Of course, there'll be all kinds of investigations see what's going on. But it's sad, and our prayer goes out to all those families. 00:15:36 Speaker 4: Yes, so tragic. I mean, we unfortunately have too many tragedies and sadly we get a little immune to them. But that made me sick to my stomach last night. That's awful, and I was thinking, like you're about to land, like you have people parked to pick you up. I saw an interview with the guy whose wife was texting him. I can't believe they interviewed him, but he was at the airport waiting. I mean, that is just absolutely awful. And I don't know how it happened, but they're gonna figure that out and we'll probably even have some major changes to aviation. 00:16:02 Speaker 7: Uh. 00:16:02 Speaker 2: Guy sitting here told there is a story come out where one of the figure skaters didn't miss get on the plane because he because of his dog, so he wasn't allowed on that plane. So you know he's now he's got to live with that. Knowing these teammates were on the plane and he was supposed to be on the plane could almost just as bad. Yeah, So keep that, keep everybody in your prayers there, all right, Well, take our break, come back. Go to the phone line eight five nine two two to eight seven. It is Asking Anything Thursday, Ryan Drew and Shannon. This is Kentucky's Sports Radio. All right, welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan Drew and Shannon. Is that echoing now, Shannon? Sounds like it is in here? You don't, okay? All right, We set a speaker up in here so they can hear Shannon since Matt's not here. And Uh, you a good crowd in here, good really good crowd in here. So you. 00:16:49 Speaker 3: Look at you. 00:16:50 Speaker 2: Eight five two to eight seven. That's our phone number for Ask Anything Thursday. Uh. Coach Pope did do his coaching show last night, said some really interesting things. We're gonna play some them throughout the show. What was your biggest takeaway from listening to what he had to say last night? 00:17:04 Speaker 8: Uh? 00:17:05 Speaker 4: I fully expected him to tell us not to boo, and he kind of didn't say that. He was like, it's competition. It is what it is. I mean, he said very nice things about Cal and how grateful he is and how grateful Kentucky is, but then when it came to the actual fan reaction, he kind of was like, whatever, I'm. 00:17:21 Speaker 2: Kind of with you. I kind of thought maybe he would tell us to honor, respect and honor coach Cal the right way and not boom him, but he said he basically said something like, look, they'll come a day where we'll be able to recognize all the greatness he did here. Maybe Saturday is not that day. It will still again. 00:17:36 Speaker 3: You want me to play the clip. 00:17:38 Speaker 2: You've got it. You said it to me, Okay, I didn't know if you already had it. 00:17:45 Speaker 5: You could quote him if you want to, or I can play it. 00:17:49 Speaker 4: He said it better than we would. 00:17:50 Speaker 2: This is courtesy of the UK Sports Network and JMI. His coach poke last night at the. 00:17:55 Speaker 7: University of Kentucky to have some of the greatest coaches to ever coach the game of basketball. Certainly Cal is one of those. He's He's a Hall of Fame coach. In his fifteen year tenure. What he accomplish at the University of Kentucky was incredible. He in some ways he revolutionized the game of college basketball. He's left a legacy that probably won't be ever reproduced in the same way that he did it. And and uh, you know, as a member of BBN and a huge fan of of Kentucky basketball, my whole heart is here. 00:18:29 Speaker 2: Uh. 00:18:29 Speaker 7: And I love Cal. I love Cal for what he did for for Kentucky basketball. And on a very personal level, he's been He's been so great to Leanne and I as a mentor and a friend, and so uh, you know, it's it's it's a little bit of a complicated relationship right now because he's coaching the other team and so that always makes it complicated. But you know, I know that I know BBN, man, I just know our fan base, and I know there will be all kind of There's be so much emotion because we care so much. So there'll be so much emotion in the gym on Saturday. And as time goes on and circumstances change, Uh, there's gonna be a time when Kyle walks back into this arena and he is gonna feel all of the love that BBN possibly has to offer, because that's what we do with our family. 00:19:21 Speaker 2: I think that's probably the best answer he could probably give. You know, honor the guy, respect the guy. He did great things here, I know, but he said something. We're an emotional fan base. Of course we're gonna care when our coach leaves and goes coaches arrival. Of course it means something to us when we want to when he walks into the building. So I know you guys talked a lot about it yesterday. If I was in the building, I probably wouldn't do anything. I wouldn't boo him, but I wouldn't clap for him either. But here's the question, what about if Kentucky wins by thirty and he's walking off the floor and he kind of waves to the crowd, how do you react then he just kicked his butt. 00:19:59 Speaker 4: Third, I don't care what you do. Uh yeah, I can see that. I let my opinions known yesterday. Frank Franklin even came out for a minute. 00:20:07 Speaker 2: I heard about that. 00:20:08 Speaker 4: I kind of Pope kind of said it a little bit too. I want John cala Perry to be honored. We should name something after him. He should have a banner. I hope one day he gets to come to rupt make him the why we'll have a party. But Saturday, he's not that guy coming here. He is Arkansas's coach coming here. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: I don't have today. 00:20:24 Speaker 4: I'm not doing. But I have no problem with booing and I fully expect people to boo. He is coming to beat Kentucky. He Why what's wrong with booing that? Yeah, it's sports. We're not booing his character. We're booing him because he's walking in wearing an Arkansas shirt. 00:20:38 Speaker 2: I guess cal also talked to the media last night. One surprised he did that, thought he would send Kenny Payn or Chin Cleman or somebody, and he's he U. There was a point where I think he even kind of choked up and said something like it is gonna be an emotional you know, I have a lot of great memories. There's one of the best times of my life there. He's got some dear friends here, So I hear that. And it doesn't make me one to beat his brains in his bad on the basketball court because he was such I mean, he did miraculous things here for a long time. 00:21:09 Speaker 4: Well, two things that change it a little bit one. He really, to his credit, hasn't thrown any jabs in public. Now stuff's come out that he's told recruits. You know, he moved headquarters. That was really dumb, and Kentucky fans didn't like that. But if you're in a kid's living room and you're trying to get him, you got to say something. 00:21:25 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:21:25 Speaker 4: But in press conferences and like the Coaches show that where you said that earlier in the week. I think he has a press conference today. He really has been nothing but grateful, so that I think that helps a little. Also, I think it helps that they suck. I mean, if they'd come in here undefeated, that's completely different than them coming in here with one win. I mean, flip the script. You can almost be a little sympathetic to how bad they are. And I don't think anyone expected one in five. 00:21:47 Speaker 2: Because when the schedule came out this summer, well, when everybody saw that game Arkansas at Kentucky Fairbuay first, you circle it in your big blue marker and you know that's the game of the year. I think we thought one reason why can Arkansas was gonna be a lot better. They're not very good. They may be the worst team in the SEC right now, does that play into it at all? 00:22:06 Speaker 4: I could see someone that was ready to boo in November counting down to the date, being like, this is gonna be weird. Now they're terrible. I'm just piling on. People are still gonna boo. The Patino clip went viral yesterday. I didn't have memory of that. You were there, Holy crap, they booed. Everyone was booing. That made me think Saturday is gonna be pretty bad. That Patino when blew my mind. I didn't have a memory of it being that bad. 00:22:29 Speaker 2: I was there. It was, without a doubt, the best pregame environment ever. I don't even think Saturday Say is gonna surpass it. Patino's first trip back to rupp Arena as a coach of Louisville Cardinals when he comes out the wrong entrance, walks out there, it was unbelievable. 00:22:47 Speaker 4: That's why I seeing that, I think Cal's he's getting it. But whatever, it's a basketball game. We're trying to win, trying to create a hostile environment. 00:22:53 Speaker 2: We'll be right back. Take your calls A five nine two eight two two eighty seven. It says Kentucky Sports. 00:22:56 Speaker 3: Radio TJ Smith Personal injury atturn call TJ. 00:23:01 Speaker 4: He'll make them. 00:23:01 Speaker 5: Pay Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:06 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:07 Speaker 2: All right, welcome back. It's Ryan, Drew and Shannon. Here is Matt on the disabled list this morning. He'll get some rest, feel better because we need him for Friday. Tomorrow. We're at Whiskey Thief and New lou And of course Saturday is the big Kentucky Arkansas game. I got this text message on you can text the text machine, but if you got my cell phone, we're gonna use that as a text machine today. 00:23:27 Speaker 4: Drew. 00:23:27 Speaker 2: Is that all right? 00:23:27 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:23:27 Speaker 4: Give him the number? 00:23:28 Speaker 2: Okay, the guys, No, it's okay. If kl is smart, he walks out with Ellen, and that would almost. 00:23:34 Speaker 4: Ensure no boos. 00:23:36 Speaker 2: It's harder to boo her than Cal. 00:23:38 Speaker 4: We're not using a human shield. Ellen is not a prop. All right, don't boo Ellen. I feel bad for Ellen, but we are not using Ellen Caliperry as a prop to a shield for him to walk out onto the court. 00:23:49 Speaker 2: If you're going to the game tomorrow, the main advice I can give you is go early. Traffic is going to be a nightmare. Parking is already a nightmare. Everybody wants to be there in their seats when he walks out of the tunnel. That's gonna be the highlight of the game. Maybe get there early, come here to ks bar, you do a little tailgating and then go down early. 00:24:11 Speaker 4: And if you're really really like to be like Shannon and stay up all night. UK Hockey has a midnight match game, match hockey game, game, game game. They have a game at the les And Ice Center at midnight. U UK basketball end at eleven well, no this year eleven thirty because the monitors go straight over the ice center and catch UK Hockey. I mean, how about that for a double huader. 00:24:34 Speaker 2: They picked a good night to do that game late at night. We have a late tip off game will end up late. Everyone the fans want to celebrate. You want to have a victory party, Go to the UK hockey game and you have your victory party there. 00:24:45 Speaker 4: Absolutely, I wish I could. I got to do a little work after the game. If not for that, I'd be over there too. 00:24:50 Speaker 2: Eight five nine two two two et seven. That's our phone number and listens, callers, We're warning you. We got cranky Shannon today. Stop it, we got Shannon. 00:24:59 Speaker 3: Let's go to court. 00:25:00 Speaker 2: Sorry, Corey, go ahead, Corey. 00:25:02 Speaker 9: Hey, what's going on? 00:25:02 Speaker 10: Guys? 00:25:03 Speaker 4: All right out, Corey. 00:25:06 Speaker 11: I'm doing good. I've got a couple of things. First of not enough of the fans call in and give the girls team a lot of love, So good luck to them tonight against Alabama. It's gonna be a good game. Alabama's ranked. And second, I got to give my wife a shout out, so she's a diehard Louisville fan. BBN forgive me for that one, but for my birthday, my birthday the same day as Anglominor's, and she got me tickets to the game. And having said that, I think I got a boo because, like, how many years did we spend booing Patino? And it's it's no different anyone that boot Patino and saying dope, Boot Coal, you're being a hypocrite, Corey. 00:25:48 Speaker 2: We appreciate thanks of funk call. He's right, there'll be a day where we can march cow out, put his name up in the rafters and celebrate what he did. Here, Saturday is not that day. Saturday, he's coaching a posing team and a porting SEC game that we have to win. Win our rest of our games at home. So yes, if the fans want a boo, I'm not gonna tell fans what to do. They have the right to do whatever they want. But it is still a basketball game, and he's on the opposing bench. 00:26:15 Speaker 4: It's very easy for me. The John Caliperry that won us all those games is not coming here on Saturday. The Arkansas John Caliperry's come here. We're booing that version of him. And I just think there's a fundamental difference with people in booing. I've talked to friends. They are like, I can't believe people would boo, And I'm thinking, I can't believe you get upset about booing. It's a basketball game. It's part of the environment. People get boot all the time. We literally after every player on the other team, they say their name. The student section yell sucks like it's not personal. It's part of having a home court advantage. I don't have any problem with booing me and you boot at bingo. 00:26:49 Speaker 2: That's true. We boot a bingo in here. 00:26:51 Speaker 4: It's not that serious like some people are acting like it were you would spit in Cal's face if you boo, I think it's just Rupperina creating an environment to win a basketball game. I don't think it's that complicated of a situation. 00:27:01 Speaker 2: Had somebody send me a message said, hey, nobody booed. When Tubby Smith walked back in for the first time, it's a little different. 00:27:08 Speaker 4: High point high point, several years later, severally several years later, very different. 00:27:12 Speaker 2: Tubby's on the down side of his career, much different. 00:27:15 Speaker 4: Tubby didn't sit with Mitch Barnhart and say look at us, we're the best. I'm not going anywhere, and then left two days later. 00:27:21 Speaker 2: But when Rick Patino walks out, he got the booze, and Cal will have the same on Saturday. Who's next? Shannon Devin Devin, go ahead, Devon. 00:27:30 Speaker 8: Hey guys, I wanted to talk about how the fans react to Cal on Saturday. I'm not going to the game, but for the people who are going, who are undecided on how they're going to react, I think I've got a fourth option because it seems like everything I've heard, everybody thinks there's only three options, right, clap, boo, or stay silent. But there is a secret option number four, and it is physically possible to boo and clap at the same time, though, But the people who are undecided, I don't know if that is a realistic thing to do, but I think that there's some good reasons that people might choose to do that. One, it perfectly captures what most of the fan bakes, thinks and feels about Cal. Right, we're conflicted, So who says we can't act conflicted. Two, it's exactly what we want for this game. Right, it would be chaos, it would be wild, and that's the kind of environment that we want, right and Three and I think the best reason is it's a pala these guys like it makes the game about the fans, not about Cal the media. If everybody clapped and booed at the same time, nobody would be talking about Cal. They'd all be talking about Big Wee Nation, all right. 00:28:45 Speaker 2: Devin, appreciate it, appreciated The booze I think would drown out the clapse almost. You know, you could probably see people clapping, but. 00:28:53 Speaker 4: You won't feel guilty. You're canceling yourself out. 00:28:54 Speaker 2: Canceling yourself out mentally. You're doing that for mentally, not make you feel guilty for booing the guy we revered for so long. 00:29:02 Speaker 4: I think this is the whiskey thief idea of the day. I love this. You can boo your heart out while clapping as hard as you can. You'll be no guilt. It's like even it's like you're doing nothing and it will just create a louder environment. I'm all for the clap boo. Is that possible? Like you can't rub your stomach and pat your head right and that a thing? Can you? You can boom and clap? Yeah that's no yah boo, Yeah I can do that. I'm all. I'm all in on clap and boo. I might even clap and boo. I was gonna do nothing. He might have talked to me into clap boo. 00:29:29 Speaker 2: Well that there will be people that will clap when not boo, because you know they're welcoming me, welcome him back, and they're like I said, they'll come a day we can do that for him. 00:29:37 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's you're just a neutral party. It's like a house divided when they go vote. You could just stay at home. You just cancel each other out. If you clap and boo, you're just you don't matter. You're nothing. 00:29:45 Speaker 2: What if you're somebody like Brandy Romand to the Cake Lady and your best friend is Ellen Caliperry, but you're a die hard Kentucky die hard fan. 00:29:53 Speaker 4: I love Brandy, She's she's she's been at a tough spot because Ellen's her best friend. She even went to an Arkansas recently. But if you follow on social media, we know what colors you still. Yeah, you're not changing Brandy from the six O six. 00:30:07 Speaker 2: Who's next, Shannon? That's going to Ben, Ben? 00:30:10 Speaker 9: Go ahead, Ben, Hey, guys, I'm going to give a little bit of an opposing view to the boo. Originally, I started out even earlier this week that I would affuded him if I would have been there. But the more I've thought about it the last few days, I'll give you two points that maybe a contrary to that. You tell me what you think. Number one to the first is, I don't really understand the argument that people are using taboo in the fact that he left us and that they hold resentment for that. Well, if we're honest with ourselves, we wanted him gone and he left, and we might not like the way he left, but at the end of the day, we all know that if he had stayed, we probably would hold more resentment for him right now because our season would probably be going the way Arkansas is than if he had left. So it's kind of contradictory to me that we would hold it against somebody that gets something that we ultimately wanted to do. It's like breaking up with you and your girlfriend breaking up mutually and then telling her she can't date anybody for a while. Well, that's just not the way it works. And number two, I guess I don't really have a problem with people doing and I know it's not personal. It's just a sport. So bow him if you want. But at the end of the day, we keep using this thing that well, there will be a day that John Calfery will come back and he'll get its flowers. Well, not to make this extremely, you know, more important than it is, but we don't all we don't know that that day will come. Things happen, life take a turn, bad things happen to people, and maybe he won't get that day. Maybe he will, hope we all hope he will, but I think he will. For granted that that's going to happen. I'm just saying something could happen to the man, or something could happen, and he never gets that, so we keep saying that like it's a certainty. 00:31:49 Speaker 2: Maybe it's not appreciate phone call Ben. Yeah, I mean after time goes by, you know, they'll they'll they'll do the right thing, especially if Pope is still here at the moment, he will want to do the right thing. But when you're coaching an opposing team in the conference, it's an you do what your heart tells you to do man. 00:32:07 Speaker 4: And not all boozs are gonna be created equal. Some people are gonna boo because they spent thirty thousand on a suite at the SEC tournament and saw one game that was a loss. People like that that travel spend lots of money the last two years are upset. Some people are gonna boo because they're mad how they left, how he left. Some people are gonna boo because they never liked him. And then people that I think is the reason you should boo is what I'm saying. You're just booing him because he's there as the Arkansas coach. None of that other stuff is attached to your boo. You're booing because you're in Roperna. 00:32:35 Speaker 2: I go back to after they get lost to Texas A and M and the SEC tournament. We were standing right there and that as Cal is walking off the court, that lady leans over the railing and just screaming at him. Is this the gold standard tech? 00:32:46 Speaker 4: Cal? 00:32:46 Speaker 2: Is this what the gold standards all about? Is this the just screaming at him about that? 00:32:50 Speaker 4: Yeah? And this will if they booz Saturday, it will be the third time he's been booed, because he got booed then, and he got booed after Oakland. It's not like this is news. He's already felt that Big Blue Nation's upset a little bit, at least with the people that traveled to those games. 00:33:01 Speaker 2: Eight five nine two two eight seven. Uh. Pope did give his silver approval last night on the Mountain Mamba nickname. 00:33:09 Speaker 4: Best part of the show for Trenton Noah, I would you didn't hear yesterday? But we had a second option, sweet mountain Baby Angel. 00:33:17 Speaker 2: That's not good. 00:33:18 Speaker 3: I don't know that's that's the best one. What are you talking about? 00:33:21 Speaker 2: You can't call a young man sweet baby. 00:33:26 Speaker 4: We want to sit down from God on the cloud run. 00:33:29 Speaker 2: I like Mountain Mamba, but sweet Baby face Mamba juice, whatever it was is awful. 00:33:34 Speaker 4: Sweet Mountain Angel Baby it was neat here and Pope endorse Mountain Mamba. It's just another thing where he's proven he's one of us. He's right anything. The fan base is latching on too. He's like, Yeah, that's cool. I'm in Mountain Mamba sounds great. I still would have wish he would have picked sweet Mountain Baby, Angel Mountain what is it? Sweet Mountain Baby Angel Angel Baby Triton. 00:33:53 Speaker 2: Noah's gonna get more minutes. Think he's playing the way he's been playing just I think even after the game, Coach Pope said he was the that was his perfect role to come off the bench and do exactly what did hit a couple of shots, play good defense, dive on the fluff for loose balls. That's his purf. The purf played the perfect role. 00:34:07 Speaker 4: Even if he hadn't hit that shot from Harlan there at the logo, just his hustle. I think yeah, has given him enough enough moving forward for more minutes. 00:34:16 Speaker 2: Going back. 00:34:16 Speaker 4: I know they lost at Vandy, but he was the only one going after loose balls there for a while. 00:34:20 Speaker 2: Eight five nine two two eight seven that's our phone number. We'll take our break, come back, get you lined up here. I've also got a little trivia question for the guys, you know, during we did the show this summer, I ask you guys some trivia questions. I didn't give you the homework. You got to be off the top of your head. All right, we don't do homework. We'll do all that a lot more coming up here on Kentucky Sports Radio. At a boy, Shannon, I appreciate you playing that greatest song ever recorded the history of music. Ryan Leman, Drew Franklin, Shannon the Dude here on Kentucky's Sports Radio. 00:34:43 Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you, well, sorry, I didn't mean to cut you out there. I was gonna ask you, will you be uh performing the song topless in Nashville with us again this year? 00:34:52 Speaker 2: If Shannon the Dude and the Alice Blue Gown is on stage and they crank this song up, I absolutely jump on. 00:34:58 Speaker 3: We'll be there. We'll be there. We've already got in the books. 00:35:01 Speaker 5: Thursday of the SEC Tournament five thirty, nine thirty, depending on of Kentucky's playing, We're gonna be playing at ten roof Broadway again. 00:35:09 Speaker 2: So if Kentucky's playing during that time, will they float you guys? 00:35:12 Speaker 5: You guys, yeah, probably so, I don't think it would probably be a wise I did a play during the Kentucky game. So the time is still kind of tentative, but I guess it's the thirteenth whatever. That Thursday is March the Yeah, March thirteenth is. 00:35:26 Speaker 2: The Darch thirteenth. Shannon the Dude in the Alice blue gown and action down in Broadway in Nashville. There. Visit no Chay Linda Farms dot com and Shannon, I've got not one, but two deliveries of not Chi Linda Farm beef to give to you now because they brought some more this week. 00:36:07 Speaker 5: Well, I wish you would bring it to you. You've been hoarding my beef. You said you've had it for six months. It's probably freezer burned at this point. But that's okay. We'll just bring it on over tomorrow. We're gonna be all together in Louisville at Whiskey Thief. 00:36:18 Speaker 3: You can bring my meat. 00:36:21 Speaker 2: It's gonna be okay. And it's been in my freezer for like six months. 00:36:23 Speaker 4: Fine, bring it six months. 00:36:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all right. 00:36:26 Speaker 4: That's what the freezers for nuggets for twelve months. 00:36:29 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I ate mine? 00:36:31 Speaker 3: Did you eat mine? 00:36:32 Speaker 2: No? Yours is still in the bag in my freezer. 00:36:34 Speaker 3: Okay, we'll see. I don't know if I believe. 00:36:36 Speaker 2: He's got one left A nine two to eighty seven. Who's our next car? 00:36:40 Speaker 3: Andy? 00:36:41 Speaker 2: Andy? Go ahead? Andy? 00:36:45 Speaker 1: All right? 00:36:45 Speaker 10: First time, long time, how y'all guys doing this morning? 00:36:48 Speaker 2: Appreciate you calling Andy? 00:36:51 Speaker 10: Hey, uh so, quick question if all three former players that are coming in tomorrow, big Z, Thiero, and the Wagoner. Who do you think would the most benefited by staying back and playing with Pope? 00:37:05 Speaker 2: Great question, Andy appreciates the phone call. I think there's one obvious answer, and it's big Z. No doubt to play in Pope's system, A big who can step out and hit the ship, hit the jumper, hit the shot, hit the shot, right the shot, Yeah, the shot that it is big Z. I agree with you, and he played well recently, but there was a stretch where he wasn't playing much at all Arkansas and I was thinking, this, poor guy, we're gonna have to put up free big Z signs again. I think he would have been great with Pope, with the way he runs, but I also think a dude would have been pretty fun, especially putting him at the four. You know, he's playing so well at Arkansas bulked up even more. I really wanted to do to stay. 00:37:40 Speaker 4: I know he was already gone before Pope got here, but I've I've always liked to do a. 00:37:45 Speaker 2: Due announced he was leaving him before Cal did. Yeah, and then he ends up going back with Cal at Arkansas. That was always a little strange. 00:37:51 Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't I don't know what happened there. Makes you wonder if the Kentucky was the issue, but I really, I really don't know. 00:37:56 Speaker 2: DJ Wagner is now I have to play point guard full time with the book out the injury. But of course, you know if if Coleach stage, you'd have Boogie Flan, Billy Richmond, Carter Knox in addition to a due Big Z and djm H. 00:38:10 Speaker 4: Wouldn't that be fun? Uh? DJ? I'm looking forward to having him back to But on a basketball note, Kentucky needs Lamont Butler back to give Dja Nellie David some problems. 00:38:19 Speaker 2: Any thoughts on if you will see him Saturday or not. 00:38:24 Speaker 4: I'm a little confused with Mark Pope right now. I thought Andrew Carr was out for ten years when he was talking after the Bandy game, and then he four days later we saw him. So even when Pope was did the if Butler's back, I kind of thought, well, we just did this with Carr. So I don't know. I don't know what to make of it. His stuff, his dad's retweeted, yeah, other stuff is promising. Then it's just kind of a Bruce shoulder. But I don't know. But I hope it's Saturday. 00:38:46 Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't think he's out long term, but still short term. I don't know how much he'll get to play Saturday. 00:38:51 Speaker 4: And he had the video where he popped on Brandon Garrison's Instagram. So I'll be back after the win at Tennessee. 00:38:57 Speaker 2: Eight five nine two o two two eighty seven. Who's next? Shan David David, go ahead, David, Hey. 00:39:04 Speaker 6: I hope the Cats take more three point shots Saturday than Arkansas. I think if they do that, they'll probably win. And then I have another option, which I think is better than option for the fans. And then is when cal Perry first comes out. You know, people cheer or do nothing but don't boo, but then they introduce him as their coach. Boo all you want, And I think that clarifies. You know, we're booing the opponent's coach. 00:39:30 Speaker 4: What do you think I like that wait for the official announcement. 00:39:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, so it not necessarily walks out during all the videos, the popping circumstance, the music that's going on, but when they announce and the head coach of the University of Arkansas. 00:39:43 Speaker 6: Right right after the players renounced. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, appreciate it. Thank you, man. I appreciate the phone call. 00:39:49 Speaker 4: I like the idea, but getting twenty thousand people on the same page as impossible. Yeah, people will boom, but I do like that where you're letting them know, as I keep saying, I'm not booing old Colum booing present day, you're in Fayetteville, Cow. It would make it a little more clear if they did wait till the moment they said Arkansas head coach John Caliperry. But I think some people that have already made it clear they're traveling just to boo there. They're gonna be a little antsy. 00:40:11 Speaker 2: So now the spotlight falls on Patrick Whidmer, the PA announcer. How's you putting the pressure on him? I'm putting pressure on Patrick. Now, how's he gonna announce Calip Perry because he used to really blare the name John Cala Perry. You know, now what's he say? You can't do that? 00:40:25 Speaker 3: Now you can't. 00:40:25 Speaker 5: You can't give on the pomp and circumstance. Now that he's the visiting coach. You gotta just you know, John Caller Perry. 00:40:32 Speaker 4: Maybe some Liam Cohen energy out of him, or he could say everyone holds your booze until we announce him as the Arkansas Well. 00:40:40 Speaker 2: I was proud of the way Pope answered the question. It's gonna happen as long as they win the game. I don't really care. They have to win that game. 00:40:48 Speaker 4: Let's everyone, not just us. Everyone is talking about boo not to every UK bog podcast Twitter account, they're all talking about booing. Let's not get lost. We need to win. 00:40:59 Speaker 2: Still a game you have to win. 00:41:00 Speaker 4: Absolutely, and Cal's gonna talk today at Arkansas. And as you said, Pope said good things. I fully expect Cayle to say nothing but the right things when we hear from from him for the last time for the game now. 00:41:09 Speaker 2: Yesterday, I guess Matt talked about the awful announcing article that he is involved. He ended up tweeting that out last night, so when it wasn't out during the show yesterday, but it's out now. Uh, if you guys want to try to check that out and uh, maybe go see here during the break and but it's it's go to his Twitter account and you can see it.
