In this episode, we are rewatching season one, episode twenty
three shops and talking about how we feel about it now,
three years later after we watched it the first time,
and it is going to be super fun.

rewatching shops look shop. Yeah, still, could you tell us
what was going on? At the beginning of this episode.
Louie, Chloe, Honey, and Mackenzie were all deciding what to
play and they decide to play shops, and Mackenzie told
Louie that she needed to promise something form as we.
Won't take ages deciding stuff.
Okay, well we'll have to see I can relate to that, Stella.
Have you ever been doing something where it seems like
it takes forever to just decide what to even do? Yeah,
you end up using up all the time you have
to do something figuring out what to do with the
time that you have.
Yeah, definitely.
So they're gonna play shops. And what do they set up, Stella.
They set up a counter where you buy the stuff
at the shop, and they also set up a door
to the shop.
Yeah, they set up the till and that's where you
do something, Amanda, what is it that you do right there?
That's where you take the items that the customer is buying.
And you got doot doot with.
Them exactly, which is pretty fun. It's fun to say, yeah,
it is. They're trying to decide who's going to do
what Amanda, who is playing each role.
Blue decides that she's going to be the shopkeeper, which
is what Chloe wanted to be. Mackenzie decides that he
is going to be the customer and Honey is going
to be his pet cat.
Chloe wants to be the shopkeeper, but Blue says that
she has to be the assistant, but she can take
over only if something happens Henry and what is that?
Whenever Blue is sick. Immediately after Bloe said that, Chloe
asked if she was feeling okay.
Yeah, Blue was feeling just fine. She's not calling off
work today. Originally, Mackenzie and Honey were both going to
be customers, but then they decided that Honey would be
the kitten. What kind of store is it going to be?
It's gonna be a store to where you could buy
stuff for your pet cat.
Yeah, originally they thought about just having a kitten store,
but since you already have a kitten, how about one
that sells things for kittens? It seems like they're all
set and ready to go. But Stella, what do Bluey
and Chloe do?
They run off to find stuff to be cat treats
to sell the store.
Poor Mackenzie, he's already a little bit annoyed by this.
But they do have a point that you can't play
shops if you don't have things to sell at the shop.
That seems pretty reasonable, don't you guys think so?
Well, you have to have stuff.
Exactly what do they find? Stella?
They find Lily Pilley's and they say that they can
be the kitten treats, but Bluey thinks they're two round,
so they decide that the bumpy ones can be the
kitten treats and the round ones can be the money.
I wonder what a about them being round really threw
blue off on this whole kitten treat thing.
Yeah, I'm not sure, because I mean, cot treats can
be round, just like their food can be round too.
I'm going to tell you something. Our cats would not
turn down a tree of any shape.
No, of course they wouldn't.
Mackenzie wants them to hurry up. Chloe wants blue to
call in sick to work so she can be the shopkeeper.
And once they suss out what's going to be the
money and what's going to be the treats, it looks
like they're ready to go. But Amanda, what does Blue
say they need?
Blue tells Mackenzie that he needs to come in asking
for a kitten birthday cake. But then Blue he's going
to tell him that they're all out, and then he
has to look sad. But then Chloe speaks up and
she said that she wants the store to have a
kitten cake. So they have one right there that they
I think they put together with like some rocks, and
so Bluie said, Okay, Mackenzie, you can come in and
we'll tell you that we have a kitten birthday cake,
but you're still going to be sad because it's not
the one that you wanted.
I find it interesting that their take on playing shops
is that somebody's going to be disappointed. Well well, well,
while they're trying to decide what to do, someone points
out that kittens cannot talk.
Kitten's definitely caught tool. You just have to go like
this when he wants something.
Wowwnrown, did you notice that Mackenzie gems the camera when
that happens when they're on yewing.
Oh I didn't notice that.
Yeah, he looks straight at the camera and breaks the
fourth wall, and it's like.
Oh, that's funny. I have to go back and watch
the Oh that's great.
It looks like they're getting ready to have a good time,
but suddenly somebody has to drop a bomb in everything. Henry,
what is going on here?
Blooie decides that she wants to be a kitten, which
makes Chloe get excited because I mean, she gets to
be the shopkeeper.
Right, she's going to be able to be the shopkeeper,
but Honey says she'll only swap from being a kitten
if she gets to be something. Henry, what was it?
She wants to be the kitten owner.
Well, that leaves Mackenzie with needing something to do, and
he says he'll only swap if he can be the
shopkeeper because.
What he likes doing. The duting thing getting is fun.
I love that they do that where they're all just
making this random noise because that is so what kids do,
and honestly that's what we do too.
Oh yeah, absolutely, when.
We get a bit and we just grind it into
the ground to see which one of us will get annoyed. First,
Mackenzie is getting pretty annoyed by this whole situation, and
he's like, I'll do anything we need to do to
just start, even if I have to be the assistant Stella.
They've forgotten something, though, what job are they missing?
They realize that they still need a customer. So at
this point, Mackenzie is so mad he just storms off
and decides that he's not gonna play anymore.
I totally understood where Mackenzie was coming from here. Bluuie
calls after him, and he explains why he's frustrated.
What's for you? You even get to start? You just
want to keep making up more and more things actually true?
Who Amanda? What does Blue counter with?
Blue says that Mackenzie wants to start the game before
they all know who is playing what part.
And she does have a point.
She does. Yes.
I thought it was sweet though that they each readily
admitted you're right, I do do that.
Yeah, they both realize what they were both doing to
slow down the process of them playing the game.
Finally, they agreed to work it out.
Okay, Blue, I promise not to start until you already
and I'll be ready when you start. Sorry, let's play.
That's pretty sweet of them, But I will say I
don't think that verbal contract would hold up in a
court of law very well. Seems like there's a lot
of loosens in there.
Yeah, I would have to agree with you on that one.
They don't know what they're going to do to get
out of this. But just then something amazing happens. Henry
what is it?
Rusty shows up and he asks if he could play,
and they all said that he could be the assistant.
And he jumped right in with no complaints. Right, yeah, now,
Bluey's going to be a cat. But what problem do
they have?
They only have one lead, but Rusty said that they
sell leads there, so it's perfect.
Yeah, he man. He was all about solving problems, mister
agreeable Rusty, but in a take charge kind of way,
not just roll over and give up.
Yeah, he jumped right into his role as assistant.
They're ready to get started, but Mackenzie has some serious doubts.
Okay, I'm gonna do this. I'm about to open the door.
I'm coming in.
Is anyone gonna stop me?
No?
Hat They it started, and it looks like it's all
working out, Henry. What happens.
McKenzie goes into the store, he buys a lead, and
then they all decide, you know what, let's play bus Drivers.
Yeah, one successful run of their game after all that time,
and hey, cool, we did it. Let's go play something else.
What did you think about that, Henry?
I found that really funny, but also that's very true.
I feel like that's something kids will do a lot.
Yeah. I guess the fun comes into getting ready, the
organization part of it.
Stella.
When you were young, that's the sort of thing you
like to do. You like to set things up and
organize them and be ready, and then once you were done,
you're like, eh, that's good, I'm over it.
Yeah, I did do that.
Did you guys notice the song that was playing?
I did not.
The name of that song is Gallop Infernal. It's known
as the can Can song Dune bump bump bump, pum pump, bump,
bump bump up.
Uh.
And did you notice? So it's soundtrack music. We hear it,
but the characters don't hear it, right, But they were
all moving in time to it, and their tails were
all swishing in times to the music that only we
could hear.
Did the dute dute go along with the song too?
I don't believe. So. How disappointing. How can we even
watch this?
So disappointing?
But I think that's so cute. That's a neat song.
I love the way classic themes show up in the
soundtrack of this show masterful.
Yeah, it is really cool how they use a classical
music in the show a lot.

Well, you know what it's time for.
Did we learn anything today?
Could anyone tell us what did you learn today?
I think what I learned is when you have a
group of people together trying to come together to do something,
before you started, things need to be talked out first,
because if they had taken a minute just at the beginning,
just to go ahead and just work everything out, then
they wouldn't have all the issues that they had, and
it would not have taken them so long to get
to the game that they wanted to play.
So communication is key.
Okay, Yeah, I agree with you on this one. Mom.
Why thank you?
What about you? Stella?
I think I agree with Mom on this one.
Yeah, she's right that communication is important. Now. I feel
like Mackenzie tried to do that up front, saying you're
not gonna take forever deciding things, are you? Because something
that I picked up in the way he said that
wasn't necessarily we're not going to take forever deciding things,
are we? It was you're not gonna take forever deciding things.
Are you?
Where he figured that Blue was probably gonna run all
the parameters of their game instead of it being a
group effort. That was the vibe I got.
Yes, I do remember Mackenzie saying that to Blue, But
I feel like instead of Mackenzie just kind of beating
around the bush a little bit, maybe he could have
been a little bit more direct and have said, Hey, Blue,
before we play, do we have this all figured out?
Who's going to do what?
Right? And I think it would have been cool if
he said you sort of try to run things all
the time. Yeah, why don't we all decide what it
is our goal is instead of Bluey just dictating it right.
And I don't think Bluey means anything by that. That's
just her nature.
Yes, yes, I don't think she's trying to run over
everybody or tell her friends what they can and cannot do.
Like you said, it's just how she is.
I think another lesson to take away here is the
thing that Rusty represents when he shows up. He comes
in with a super positive, can do attitude, and his
goal is to be agreeable and get things moving as
quickly as possible. And he does. He nails it. He
comes in and immediately all the back and forth they
were doing just turns around into a smoothly operating machine.
And a lot of times situations like that, that's what
you need. Sometimes being a leader doesn't mean telling people
what to do. It means figuring out how to get
everybody to work together. And that's what Rusty did.
Yes, he did.
He did a great job just coming in embracing his
role and let's do this.
I think he's picked up some good leadership qualities from
his dad who's in the military.
Oh yeah, that's a good point, So.
It's really neat to see him come around like that.
One other lesson is that Kats aren't really that picky
when it comes to treat shape.
No, they definitely are not.
Does anybody have any parting thoughts about the episode.
I liked this episode.
I think I liked it probably when we did it
three years ago. It's just fun seeing the kids all
play together, and it's awesome to see them work things
out by talking and like I said, communicating. So it's
a cute episode. I like it because this is how
kids play together using their imagination. That's something we see
frequently in these Blue episodes when the kids play, and
I just I love that so much.
I think this episode is cute. And also I can
definitely relate to Mackenzie in this episode.
Yeah, you're the one who wants people to hurry up
and get moving a lot of times.
Yeah, that's true, and I don't.
Mean that in the mean way. That's just one of
your qualities that you're like, hey, let's get this thing going.
I feel like I can relate to both McKenzie and
Blue in this episode because sometimes I do like the
planet heead, but then sometimes I'm also like, come on,
let's get this show on the road.
There's a lot of dynamics going on here, and it's
easy to kind of find yourself in everybody, and people
want what they want. Chloe was expected to just take
a back seat and stand there and be like, well,
I'm glad you're here, but you can't do anything unless
I decide I want to do something else. So that's tough.
But I also like their self awareness. Mackenzie tells Bluie, hey,
you do this. Blue's like, you know what, You're right,
but I would like to counter with you do this
other thing, and Mackenzie says, you know what, you're also right.
I think that's really cool that once they start communicating,
things start getting done because they put it all out
there and they work around what the actual parameters are.
So good on them.
Yeah, they do a great job working together.
This is interesting. At the end of the episode, there
weren't any credits for actors in there because there were
no adults in the show, and they never tell the
names of the kid actors. Oh yeah, yeah, no grown
ups in this one.
I did notice that, and I wasn't sure why. That
makes a lot of sense. Well, guys, we think Bluie
is awesome. And speaking of things that we think are awesome, Henry,
what should we do next?
