Are they ruining baseball by spending so much money and not allowing teams like the Pirates and you know, the A's and the Royals to compete.

Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're saying maybe there should be a minimum team spend and a maximum team spend that is a salary cap and a salary basement. Here's the thirty second rundown. Forty eight percent of net local revenue is put into a pot. So whatever deals the Dodgers have with TV and radio deals, ticket sales, local sponsorships, stadium revenue is put into a pot forty eight percent of it. Forty eight percent of the Pittsburgh Pirates put in the pot, Mets, Dodgers, Cardinals, Brewers, Rays, you.

Speaker 2: Forty eight percent of the net local stuff is put in a big pot and then divided equally by thirty. So there are teams like the Dodgers and the Mets and the Phillies Yankees that end up having to pay. Now, if you go over the salary cap, there's even more of a penalty because you have to pay a luxury tax, an additional tax. The smaller market teams will get a check for their portion, where teams like your Yankees will have to pay. A team like the Pirates could be like, hey, here's one hundred million dollars check. Yankees might have to pay that that's not good enough because they're saying these local deals and that's forty eight percent. They're saying it's just not enough. Local small market teams can't compete. Now the luxury tax then sell the team. Luxury tax Turkey only penalizes teams that exceed a certain payroll threshold. It doesn't prevent teams from spending. Now, a team like the Dodgers could say we'll pay show hey Otani, We'll pay show hey o Tani a billion dollars. We'll make the money in fans around the world, in Japan, merchandise, everything, So they'll say, yeah, please remember he deferred his money. He's getting two million a year, right, two million a year for the best player in baseball. That rule applies to everyone in MLB. It's about getting the right player that's willing to do that for your team. They're saying small good business, saying small market teams, even if they reach that tax line, it's a stretch. Local TV revenue is the real divider here. Okay, here's what they're saying. Dodgers and Yankees TV deals like the Yes Network in New York or Danny g What are the Dodgers play out on here?

But they're saying, it's just an uncompetitive advantage for a team like the New York Yankees versus a team like the Pittsburgh You know what, and here's what happens. Let's say there is a cap, a salary cap in baseball. It's going to change baseball as we know it. That's that's the crazy part about it. But you know what, we fear change, and you know what, life goes on and fight end up being fine. And you know, we talked about it recently. Anytime there's a.

They're in La California market team where if a small market team has a star bust, it could ruin that franchise for years. So what the solution is, Hey, that's above my pay grade. But these are the reasons why baseball's in big trouble because it seems like the players are like, yeah, not our problem. We want to get paid and play, and the owners are like, we want to cap, and the player like no, no, no, no, no, no, we want to If anything, the players want a floor, meaning like even the bunk bottom level team should have to spend a certain amount of money like the A's wasn't did there something like like Juan Soto or like you know, Darren Judge, are certain guys were making more than the whole roster? Oh yeah of like the A's, Yeah for sure. But the problem is too the MLB should have done this like thirty years ago. They really should have. Well, we'll see what happens. That's the issue.
