Speaker 3: Welcome to our two Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones quarterback.

00:01:05
Speaker 4: It is Kentucky sports Radio, Hair Live and Whiskey Thief. Great crowd just outside of Frankfurt on crab Orchard Road. What an awesome Uh, you guys every time we come here, give us a great environment.

00:01:17
Speaker 5: We appreciated. Everybody's enjoying the bourbon. Uh.

00:01:20
Speaker 4: They got a food truck out there. They brought us some food, crazy amount of food. Nacho fries, pamento, cheese, sandwiches, chicken. Damn, that's one tasty burger, chicken, tacos. They're like, literally everything is here. There's gonna be enough food for us to eat long after.

00:01:37
Speaker 5: This show is over. Drew, look at this. Let's look at all these fries selections right here.

00:01:41
Speaker 6: They're twelve boxes of food in front of us, the four of us we have. I guess that's three entres each.

00:01:46
Speaker 4: Yes, eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Uh, text machine is seven seven two seven to seven four five two five four.

00:01:53
Speaker 5: Let's talk about.

00:01:54
Speaker 4: Some non depressing UK sports news since we took a loss and have football.

00:02:00
Speaker 5: Let's start, well, actually it's not even UK.

00:02:01
Speaker 4: Let's start with the craziness that I am loving at LSU football.

00:02:06
Speaker 5: All right, So we.

00:02:07
Speaker 4: Talked about the governor, he gets involved, I say, I'll say, I'll say, the governor just keeps fog horn lego earning it everywhere. Yesterday they fired the athletic director.

00:02:19
Speaker 5: The athletic director's gone.

00:02:21
Speaker 4: Kim Mulkey, the women's basketball coach, who has, of course won a national championship. She refused to do her postgame press conference after the exhibition game in.

00:02:32
Speaker 5: Protest of the athletic director being fired.

00:02:36
Speaker 4: So by getting rid of the athletic director, they're now upsetting probably their most successful coach, which is their women's basketball coach.

00:02:45
Speaker 5: So that's nice.

00:02:46
Speaker 4: The governor goes on the Pat McAfee show and basically says, I'm only going to give a contract where the college coach is not guaranteed a lot of money.

00:02:55
Speaker 5: He has to win the games to get the money.

00:02:58
Speaker 4: Well that sounds great, everybody claims, Now, go find a coach who's gonna agree to that.

00:03:02
Speaker 5: Exactly.

00:03:03
Speaker 4: Everybody can clap. I love when people clap yes, let's do this, and then guess what happens. Go find somebody to agree to that.

00:03:09
Speaker 7: You think lan Kiff's gonna who's gonna agree?

00:03:12
Speaker 4: Who is gonna agree to a contract that only pays me if I win, if I can have a team over here that gives me a contract.

00:03:18
Speaker 5: No matter what, nobody's gonna do that. Would you do that?

00:03:22
Speaker 4: Would you go work somewhere that only says you get it if you produce x much and the person next to you says you get it.

00:03:27
Speaker 5: Either way, nobody's gonna do that.

00:03:30
Speaker 4: So he's gonna end up either not doing that, or be he's gonna get a coach like Lane Kiffin saying I ain't going there. So I just I find the whole thing hilarious.

00:03:40
Speaker 6: Drew.

00:03:41
Speaker 4: I think it's going to be. It's probably going to end up as a disaster. And no matter what, when you have your women's basketball coach walking out of a press conference, this this is why politicians should never be involved in this stuff. I mean, they really shouldn't because they have an incentive to grandstand, and the incentive needs to be Drew to win games and get coaches.

00:04:03
Speaker 6: Yeah. Uh, there's a guy with an LSU shirt back there. He just disappeared. I don't know where he went. I don't think you like that conversation. I'm if I'm a coach, you're thinking LSU. This is one of the best jobs in the country, all that talent around there. But also do I work for the governor or the AD? Do they even are they working together? Like what's going on over there? No, I don't want to be a part of that because they can't even seem to figure out their own situation.

00:04:25
Speaker 5: Well, let's just think about getting an AD. Ryan.

00:04:28
Speaker 4: If you're an AD looking to go to a school, do you want to go to a school where the governor can all of a sudden be like I'm going on a Pat Michael Fish show and I'm all fire you, Like, who's gonna want to go work for that guy? I mean, I don't understand why anybody would do it.

00:04:40
Speaker 7: Exactly what AD wants to work on that situation? And what coach wants to come and work for. You don't even have your but know who your boss is gonna be, don't have an AD even to work for.

00:04:48
Speaker 4: I mean, I just want you to think of how ridiculous this sounds. What if Andy Basher just fired Mitch Barnhardt and said he was gonna hire the football coach. It's one of the most ridicul list things I've ever seen in my life.

00:05:02
Speaker 3: Well, he may actually get a ploted if that happened in our situation.

00:05:05
Speaker 4: But well, okay, but let's say but Lucier said he was gonna fire Mark Pope and Mitch Barnhardt and he was gonna I mean, it's craziness.

00:05:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd have pitchforks in his front yard if that happened. But yeah, I mean, with all the lucrative deals that coaches get, now you're right, there's not gonna be a coach and that's going to agree to that.

00:05:20
Speaker 5: I just I can't imagine.

00:05:22
Speaker 4: I mean, I could see a scenario where they go to a guy and go, Okay, instead of ten million guaranteed, I'll give you seven, but if you win the national championship, you get sixteen.

00:05:36
Speaker 3: Let's just thought a bonus in a contract a dando.

00:05:38
Speaker 4: But you're still just moving ships on the Titanic.

00:05:41
Speaker 5: I mean, you're still gonna owe a lot of money.

00:05:43
Speaker 4: No coach is gonna agree to you get two million, and then you get a million per win.

00:05:50
Speaker 5: Like, no one's gonna agree to that. Why would they?

00:05:52
Speaker 6: I cull agree with you. I think you knowed it. I don't know how they're gonna get an ad like because any that should be a good job. But if governor could just up in and fire you at any moment, I wouldn't sign up for that.

00:06:02
Speaker 4: No, the last thing you want to do is be responsive to a governor, who, by the way, can lose reelection and then you're working for somebody else, you know. I mean, like, at least with the AD you have the ability to know who your boss is. How would you like to have governor gets in a sex scandal and all of a sudden, the lieutenant governor is your boss?

00:06:21
Speaker 3: Like nobody gets Can a governor even do that?

00:06:24
Speaker 8: Like?

00:06:24
Speaker 3: Is he within the power to be able to pick an ad?

00:06:27
Speaker 5: Technically it's a state university.

00:06:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, And technically the governor appoints the board of trustees, So technically probably yes, But it's a difference.

00:06:40
Speaker 5: I Mean.

00:06:40
Speaker 4: One of the great things that's happened in the last few years is I think Americans are starting to realize something that I don't think a lot of people knew, which is when you elect a president or a governor, they have a lot of power, probably more power than you realize, because in theory they can do a lot of stuff. Now most of the time they don't. They appoint people to do it. For them, So like they appoint someone to be an expert in this, but if.

00:07:07
Speaker 5: They want to, they can do a lot.

00:07:11
Speaker 4: And I think that's a poor choice, Like not everybody can do everything. But in Louisiana they think they can hire a football coach.

00:07:18
Speaker 7: So don't you think they need to hire an ad first to help them hire the coach?

00:07:23
Speaker 5: I mean I would, I would, but we'll see what happens.

00:07:27
Speaker 4: But the ad found out he was fired on the Pat McAfee show yesterday.

00:07:30
Speaker 6: Why would you want that job?

00:07:31
Speaker 5: You got it?

00:07:32
Speaker 6: If I can get fired on ESPN, which people can't even watch right now, how would I sign up for that?

00:07:37
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:07:37
Speaker 6: And you know I don't know politics very well. But didn't your boy Matt Bevian do something with the Louisville board like this? Couldn't Could he have hired the lois coach?

00:07:43
Speaker 5: Let mean, let me just use the example of I will give Matt Bevin.

00:07:47
Speaker 4: I'll explain Matt Bevan actually did what I think a governor can do.

00:07:51
Speaker 5: But it's okay.

00:07:53
Speaker 4: Matt Bevian appointed the U of L board, right, and he encouraged the board to make changes. But it was the board that did it, and there were Basher appointees on that board and Bevin appointees.

00:08:07
Speaker 5: Landry just went.

00:08:08
Speaker 4: Above everybody and fired everyone, And I just I think that's a bad decision.

00:08:13
Speaker 5: Completely different topic. You ever been to Harvard, Ryan Levin?

00:08:17
Speaker 7: You may be shocked, but I am not a Harvard grad.

00:08:22
Speaker 4: I'm not shocked about that. I just wondered if you'd ever been there period.

00:08:26
Speaker 7: I've not been there. Okay, I've even seen it, all.

00:08:28
Speaker 4: Right, So Harvard, A lot of people consider Shannon like to be the best or second best school in the country.

00:08:34
Speaker 5: Right, So you think of Harvard.

00:08:37
Speaker 4: In nineteen ninety six, the amount of a's that they gave at Harvard was fifteen percent of the classes, So fifteen percent classes, every student would get an A. Then that went up in like two thousand and one to twenty five percent. Would you like to know how many in a class? What amount of students now are made making a's at Harvard.

00:09:01
Speaker 3: Let's hear it, how many sixty two.

00:09:03
Speaker 5: Percent of all grades at given at Harvard into wow? We're as wow.

00:09:08
Speaker 4: So a study was done, and of course that has a few implications, one of which is people who graduate with all a's.

00:09:16
Speaker 5: That doesn't seem quite as impressive. Right, No, no at all. But secondly, where I.

00:09:21
Speaker 4: Think it's going to really have an impact is if you don't have a's.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: Now you're the dump kid.

00:09:26
Speaker 4: Because it's basically acknowledging that you were in the bottom forty percent. But Harvard has now said, uh, we are going to completely revamp our grading system. We cannot have sixty percent of students getting the exact same grade. Do you think there should be a rule where teachers at any level have to spread out the a's or are you okay with grade inflation?

00:09:48
Speaker 7: I'm okay with great inflation, because really, what does it really matter? I mean the fact if you got an A in a class in college doesn't matter what.

00:09:56
Speaker 5: You do today.

00:09:57
Speaker 7: And if you know the fifty material I mean, have a bad test, maybe you might get a B.

00:10:02
Speaker 5: Sounds like somebody who didn't get a's.

00:10:03
Speaker 3: Are you suggesting everybody just gets a's like a participation trophy?

00:10:07
Speaker 9: You tried?

00:10:08
Speaker 3: That is very you tried. Here's your A.

00:10:12
Speaker 5: You like participation trophy?

00:10:14
Speaker 7: You pass or you fail? That's really I mean why we got again like saying.

00:10:17
Speaker 4: Why don't you play the game, or you don't you win or you lose the score more points.

00:10:21
Speaker 6: You don't.

00:10:22
Speaker 3: I think the issue here is AI probably being used a lot. Chat Yeah, I think I think because either that or you think that kids are getting smarter or the classes are getting easy.

00:10:32
Speaker 4: I think I actually think none of those things are the main explanation.

00:10:36
Speaker 3: What do you think is I think that?

00:10:37
Speaker 4: And and as someone who's taught at a college for a few years, I think I think there's a huge impact now put on your reviews. Okay, so college in a lot of way, like colleges are now very much competitive to get students. They want to make sure and teachers want to be improved by students, and so you get reviews at the end of the year, and I think there's a huge pressure to make the students happy and give them good grades so they don't want and complaint.

00:11:08
Speaker 3: Wow, I worried about them whining.

00:11:11
Speaker 5: I listen.

00:11:12
Speaker 4: I genuinely think that's true when I tea Look, when I teach at Georgetown, I'm not acting like I'm a great professor, but I don't give a ton of aids, and I get a lot of pushback from students like, come on, I did the work, I should get an A.

00:11:25
Speaker 5: And I want to be like well, you did.

00:11:27
Speaker 3: The work, but it wasn't excellent, and.

00:11:30
Speaker 5: A is supposed to be excellent.

00:11:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, but I do think, like what Ryan said, there's a lot of parents who are like, why aren't you giving my kid an A?

00:11:39
Speaker 5: He did the work, she did the work enough.

00:11:42
Speaker 4: But I think what Ryan just expressed is the reason why a's go up so much.

00:11:47
Speaker 3: You think that's it? So I mean, yeah, I mean.

00:11:50
Speaker 4: Well, I mean Ryan just said it. Ryan was like, I think everybody should get an A.

00:11:57
Speaker 3: I wish it was like that when I was in school, everybody just got an I don't.

00:12:00
Speaker 7: Really believe that, right, I do, because really, I mean, what in the grand scheme of thing does it matter when you get in the job world. It doesn't matter what your grades.

00:12:11
Speaker 6: For my doctor to know what he's doing.

00:12:13
Speaker 4: If you were an employer, don't you want to know who the best students are. Don't you want the best students to get into med school to business school to law school? Why do you want everyone to just I mean, you socialist? Why do you want everyone to create equally? In Like, don't you want to know who's the best.

00:12:30
Speaker 7: Whether you get your degree at Harvard or do you get it at poop state. I'm thinking I'll give it to the guy the Harvard I don't care what.

00:12:35
Speaker 4: Grades, But to be fair, if you do it like that, rich kids who grew up in rich families with ELEAD.

00:12:42
Speaker 5: Educations get into Harvard.

00:12:44
Speaker 4: Kids that maybe are from a poor place in Kentucky, maybe they have to go to Kentucky. Under your system, they're always going to be behind the guy who met kids who went to Harvard because they didn't get the head start of getting in the same college.

00:12:58
Speaker 5: Whereas, if you have grades, the kids.

00:13:00
Speaker 4: That gets all as that Kentucky has a chance to still make it.

00:13:04
Speaker 7: I think maybe I see it because I had a couple sons who really struggled in the classroom. I mean, it was a struggle for them just to get a C or a D. But did they work hard? They worked their butt off. We would celebrate them getting a C or a D. I don't care if they got an A.

00:13:17
Speaker 3: So to Drew's point, though, if you went to the doctor and you knew that this doctor graduated from Harvard but he had a D, wouldn't you rather go to the guy who had an A.

00:13:26
Speaker 7: But at Harvard he got his degree, graduated from med school. That's good enough for me. He knows what he's doing.

00:13:30
Speaker 3: You go to that doctor sixty passed, he got through it.

00:13:35
Speaker 5: Deal with it.

00:13:35
Speaker 4: Ryan Living is glad. As long as you pass, as long as you graduated. Operade on me.

00:13:42
Speaker 5: Fair enough.

00:13:42
Speaker 6: I had a teacher who was like, I've given it was accounting. He's like, I've given two a's and ten years. And he made it so hard, like a C was a good grade. But then in the end he kind of curved it a little bit. But I actually liked that. It brought everyone down to me.

00:13:54
Speaker 5: There are schools that do this, by the way, like Yale. A lot of people don't realize Yale.

00:13:59
Speaker 4: Law School, which is is considered the best law school in the country, they don't even give grades. Everything is past fail. They take the view of every single thing is past fail.

00:14:08
Speaker 5: And they do that.

00:14:09
Speaker 4: But their theory is, we only let in one hundred and fifty students, so you had to be pretty awesome to get in here to begin with. So that's their theory. I don't know if other schools should do that. What's up next, Donnie, Donnie, go ahead, Donnie.

00:14:25
Speaker 10: Hey, Matt, I'm down here in Alabama. I'm a transplant. I was born and raised in Hart County. My daughter's in the band at Albert and we're going to the game tomorrow, and I just want you all's opinion. She doesn't want me to work anything Kentucky. And do I get a pass to not word or should I.

00:14:41
Speaker 8: Just go ahead and work?

00:14:42
Speaker 5: And he be upside right?

00:14:44
Speaker 4: Are you in seats that are in an Auburn section that your daughter got you? Or did you just get regular tickets?

00:14:52
Speaker 8: Now?

00:14:52
Speaker 10: We got season tickets when she made the band.

00:14:55
Speaker 4: All right, So here's what I would say. You should cheer for her. When the au Burn band goes out there. Go, let's go Auburn band. You're the best band. You're the best daughter. But when they're playing football, your daughter is out there tooting a horn, she's not throwing a pass.

00:15:10
Speaker 5: You should be rooting for Kentucky.

00:15:13
Speaker 10: But she didn't want me to wear a shirt, a hat or anything. And I want you to wear any No, she don't want me to wear a Kentucky shirt. She wants me to wear a shirt that says Auburn band dad.

00:15:26
Speaker 5: Okay, that's fine. So here's your compromise.

00:15:29
Speaker 4: Auburn band dad, Kentucky hat Auburn band dad Kentucky hat. I think you're showing allegiance to your daughter, You're showing allegiance to the cats.

00:15:38
Speaker 5: I think that's a good combination.

00:15:39
Speaker 10: What about that, sir, Well, I've got a KSR hat. Would that work?

00:15:45
Speaker 5: I'll take it.

00:15:46
Speaker 4: Yes, As a matter of fact, that's better ks R hat Auburn band dad shirt.

00:15:51
Speaker 5: But you're cheering for the Cats. That work.

00:15:54
Speaker 10: That works, buddy, Thank you appreciate the call.

00:15:57
Speaker 5: I think that. I think that's the thing to do, don't.

00:15:59
Speaker 6: You gotta ask? When I was at UK, I took my dad to a game and he wore Tennessee gear and I was like, everyone heckle him, Like let's just lay into him. So I'm I'm a little different when it comes to that.

00:16:09
Speaker 7: You know, Auburty is weird. There's a lot of Kentucky residents that go to school at Auburn for that ut program and.

00:16:14
Speaker 4: A lot of Kentucky a lot of Kentucky people out there. Corn bred Hamp, Shannon, you love the corn bred Heamp. Tell them about the Seltzer.

00:16:20
Speaker 3: Oh, the Seltzers are the best. And they just added the ten milligrams of.

00:16:24
Speaker 4: Let me just saying, ma'am, if you if you all do the ten milligrams, don't drink a full thing, that's all, but you do the cornorate heam, just just be slow, don't don't don't.

00:16:35
Speaker 3: They have had a couple last night myself.

00:16:36
Speaker 5: Yes, Corpordthamp dot com. You got gummies.

00:16:39
Speaker 4: Today is the last day to get the seventy five dollars you get the free sleep gummies. One hundred and twenty five dollars you get the toe baggets cornbredhamp dot com corn Bredamp. This is the good life. We'll take a break and be right back here, whiskey Thief. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:16:53
Speaker 5: Welcome back. It is Kentucky.

00:16:54
Speaker 4: Sports Radio eight five nine two twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven to two seven four five two five four Greade discussion.

00:17:03
Speaker 5: We got some people shanning on Ryan's side.

00:17:06
Speaker 3: Okay, all rights.

00:17:06
Speaker 4: What person says, I've never been to my doctor and tried and ask them what their grades were. Yeah, but the reason and the doctor, the reason they're a doctor at all was because of their grades.

00:17:17
Speaker 5: If they didn't have good grades, they wouldn't have gotten into med school.

00:17:20
Speaker 3: That's true. I'm gonna start asking about doctor. Hey there's another report card.

00:17:24
Speaker 4: And then like if you go to a really good hospital, the reason the people that work at the hospital or who they are is because they did well in school.

00:17:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, right, but it is true though. You go into a doctor's office, you see the Harvard you know, uh whatever it is, the diploma up there. Do you think, okay, graduate from Harbor.

00:17:39
Speaker 5: We would also note this.

00:17:40
Speaker 4: This was my point at Georgetown when I was asked about grades. If you give everybody the same grade and then they want to go to law school, how do you think the law school differentiates between the students they're l SAT which is one test, which means if somebody's a bad test taker, they're gonna have their entire life based on one test. Is that No, it would be a lot like when you're a teacher, you know who the best students are. You're able to show that through grades. If you give them all the same grade, then it's all gonna come down to one test and maybe they had a bad day, Drew and so like, I think that's why I think you do it. Like when I have my students, if I have twenty students, I know who the best couple are, so you should be able to find a way to point out who they are exactly.

00:18:22
Speaker 6: My professor at one time didn't even know who I was. I was like, hey, I'm actually in this class. Yes, I haven't been here in a while, so they probably in the back of their mind thought that's not one of my leaders.

00:18:31
Speaker 3: It does go to show you, though, how much trust we put in other people.

00:18:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, well you have to though, you have to, you have to. How are you gonna know?

00:18:38
Speaker 4: UK Volleyball plays on Sunday against Texas, top five matchup, probably for the SEC title. The game is in Austin, Texas. Game starts at one o'clock. We're gonna have a watch party at the bar, a lot of UK volleyball. I think some family members of the players are coming, So show up in blue and get there.

00:18:57
Speaker 5: This is a massive game.

00:18:58
Speaker 4: Craig Skinner has a chance to win his ninth straight SEC title. You know, Texas moved into the conference. They've always been really good at volleyball. They're gonna be kind of their rival. This is a massive game, only time they play this year.

00:19:10
Speaker 7: And it's at Austin. Sold out. The guy on the Elite Report this morning we did. Gabriel said, tickets are going for like up to around eight hundred dollars to get in to watch a fight ball, right, I said, like a low hundred dollars. I promise you. That's what the guy said this morning with Dick Gabriel. Yes he did low. I guess probably maybe the lower lower arena seats for volleyball for a volleyball and it's sold out, like that has completely sold out that arena.

00:19:34
Speaker 5: That's kind of amazing. I didn't even know that I'm watching.

00:19:38
Speaker 4: I mean, I have NFL Sunday, but I plan on dual screening it and going little volleyball red Zone.

00:19:44
Speaker 5: I'm looking for it. I hope. I hope Skinners group get it. They deserve it. They do.

00:19:47
Speaker 6: I think they play tonight. I'm trying to pull up the schedule at home too. If you wanted to go for they go very go bandy. That's when I was trying to look up. But yeah, I'm looking forward. Obviously, not gonna make the trip to Austin, but I'm gonna try to catch some of the party at KS Bar because uh, we have few of those during the championship run years ago and the crowd really got into it at the bar for their away games.

00:20:04
Speaker 4: Well, I think it'll be fun. We'll also have NFL games on. But this is a massive chance, you know. I remember I talked to Craig when Texas joined the conference. He was like, this is going to be the rivalry for the next decade, US in Texas for the SEC Last year, I think maybe Texas was a little down, so.

00:20:19
Speaker 5: We were able. But this year they've got a full squad and it should be a great batch.

00:20:23
Speaker 3: So you say nine straight, I mean you think about that. That is as an impressive run for any any coach in any sport.

00:20:31
Speaker 4: Before Craig Kentucky had won one volleyball title ever, and now they've won nine straight and.

00:20:38
Speaker 5: A national championships.

00:20:40
Speaker 7: Amazing.

00:20:40
Speaker 5: That's pretty amazing.

00:20:42
Speaker 4: That is an amazing run for one there's a round best coach on campus. Yeah, I think that's completely fair. Who's up next, Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike.

00:20:55
Speaker 9: Hey, Matt Mayett, Yes, go ahead, Hello, Matt Hey, good morning, trick or treat all of you. Man. I was looking at my office here this morning that on X I understand that YouTube TV is they have a lot out with Disney and evident when the UK football game tomorrow night is going to be blacked out, we won't be able to get it on KSR restaurant. Are you all on YouTube? Are you? Are you all gonna be able to get the game.

00:21:23
Speaker 5: We will have the game.

00:21:24
Speaker 4: We have YouTube and direct TV, so we're able to get it no matter what.

00:21:28
Speaker 5: So yes, we will have the game.

00:21:30
Speaker 9: Okay, So Greg TV, you will be able to have it. Okay, thank you.

00:21:34
Speaker 4: So no problem, thank you. Who's up next, Brent, Brent, go ahead, Brent?

00:21:41
Speaker 6: Hey Man.

00:21:43
Speaker 8: Oh, I got a couple of small things. First off, my dad has a long time fan, but he's only been to two games recently, and that was last night and the tournament game against Tennis Tennessee. So I think we got a bandon from games going forward. Also, second thing, talking about people wanting to root against Conte in football, I wouldn't say I'm like on every single play being like, oh yeah, Auburn just got something. But I just feel like even if we win with like a cupcake schedule and go to a bowl like with Florida and Auburn and going through coaches, I just feel like that the band aid on the problem, Like cool, go to a bowl this year? What is it gonna do next year? You know, it's like you're not gonna get like.

00:22:21
Speaker 4: I understand what you're saying, but I will say this, and I appreciate the call. I am not expecting us to beat Florida Auburn and Louisville or Florida Auburn and Vandy. I'm not expecting that to happen. But if it did, that's not a cupcake schedule. Okay, I know Florida and Auburn aren't great this year, but it's still Florida and Auburn, and Vanderbilt's really good and Louisville's got a chance to be ten and two. So if you were to win those three games, whether you think there should be a change or not, it wouldn't be fair to go. I mean, since when are we Kentucky so good that we can say Florida and Auburn or cupcake games?

00:22:58
Speaker 5: I mean, come on, Alburn at Auburn.

00:23:00
Speaker 4: Seriously, if we win those games, We've criticized Mark and he's deserved it. But if he were to finish and beat Florida Auburn in Louisville or Florida Auburn and Vandy.

00:23:11
Speaker 5: He would deserve credit.

00:23:12
Speaker 4: We can't sit here and make it to where there's nothing he can do that's worth the with, it's.

00:23:18
Speaker 6: Worth praise, yeah and all summer. I said, just get back to a ball. We'll be happy. That's a big rebuild. I can't if he made a ball, I can't then be like, well, I didn't like the six you won.

00:23:26
Speaker 5: I mean TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.

00:23:28
Speaker 6: Call TJ.

00:23:29
Speaker 1: He'll make him pay now.

00:23:31
Speaker 3: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones, quarterback.

00:23:36
Speaker 4: It is Kentucky Sports Radio AF. I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven four five two five four. Back to this volleyball game for second. Get him priced just to get in yea two hundred and twenty five dollars.

00:23:51
Speaker 5: Wow.

00:23:52
Speaker 3: Wow, that's gotta be like the highest it's ever been.

00:23:54
Speaker 4: Upper level most expensive ticket is up to twelve or thirteen hundred dollars.

00:24:00
Speaker 7: Who for a collegiate volleyball t wow.

00:24:03
Speaker 3: I don't know if there's twelve hundred dollars, I would pay anything to go to concert. Super Bowl twelve hundred dollars ago the super Bowl.

00:24:12
Speaker 5: That is that is absolutely unbelievable.

00:24:15
Speaker 4: Also this weekend, by the way Breeders Cup starts today, the Classic loss sovereignty. So it was supposed to be maybe the best race of all time. They end up losing the favorite. Kind of a shame that the horse that won the Derby and won the Bilbot, but then it skipped the Preakness and now it won't be in the Breeders' Cup Classic. It had a chance to Drew potentially go out and there's one of the great horses of all time, but by not. As they say, the best ability is availability and it's not going to be available. So still a great weekend of races, but what was going to potentially be like the most classic Breeders' Cup Classic of all time took a hit with the favorite out.

00:24:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, the hype had been building for that. Heck, we talked about it a few weeks on the show. What was ahead? One of the the biggest races ever and instinct seeing such a big name like that. But hopefully it's still good even though it's missing.

00:25:05
Speaker 7: Sovereignty journalism, I guess now the favorite, No.

00:25:08
Speaker 4: They've got Sierra Leone from last year. For every young fierceness, I think who won one of those horses won the Oaks This year, it's in it.

00:25:18
Speaker 5: The one of the Phillies runn against him.

00:25:20
Speaker 4: It still will be a great race, but it loses it loses its favor, a little star power.

00:25:24
Speaker 5: You know.

00:25:24
Speaker 7: Most people felt like if he would have run him in the Preakness, but he would have maybe have been another triple crown champion with that good Yeah, A.

00:25:30
Speaker 5: Big thank you to our audience. A very cool thing.

00:25:36
Speaker 4: Yesterday this website called Awful Announcing that does sports media. They listed the most important people in the world of sports podcasting and they put us on there, which is absolutely unbelievable, and that's because of you guys.

00:25:51
Speaker 5: I mean literally the list. The list is like.

00:25:56
Speaker 4: Bill Simmons, Dave Portnoy, the Kels, Colin cow Heard. I mean literally, the list is like the biggest stars, and then it's people in like agents and people who create shows. And then at the very bottom it says Kentucky Sports Radio and it's the script is very funny.

00:26:18
Speaker 6: Got read your line? I don't know off the top of my head.

00:26:20
Speaker 4: I do need to let me let me read you what they said about us, this was kind of a funny, but you know what, they should put this on my tombstone. Pier is at the sports podcast charts on Apple or Spotify in any given week and you just might see Kentucky Sports Radio, which Mayley claim is the biggest local sports podcast in America.

00:26:41
Speaker 5: As recently as last year.

00:26:42
Speaker 4: Jones said it was the biggest local sport on Iheart's roster.

00:26:45
Speaker 5: We got confirmation of that again yesterday.

00:26:47
Speaker 4: This year, Jones rose to New Heights with a larger deal in iHeart, landed him a news interview show and a weekly NFL podcast.

00:26:54
Speaker 5: And then this is the line.

00:26:55
Speaker 4: Jones is simply one of the most successful yet widely unknown host in this space.

00:27:02
Speaker 5: I'll take it.

00:27:03
Speaker 4: That's how you want to be, right, Yeah, successful yet widely unknown.

00:27:06
Speaker 3: I mean if he'd be successful be on the radio and be unknown, but widely that's impressive.

00:27:12
Speaker 5: I think the only thing was widely for some reason.

00:27:14
Speaker 3: Why people have to know about you to listen to you. So it's it's interesting that you're successful.

00:27:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, widely unknown.

00:27:20
Speaker 6: It did seem like an unnecessary as could just be unknown? He could have moderately unknown?

00:27:26
Speaker 3: Is known?

00:27:27
Speaker 6: Are you moderate to severe unknown severe.

00:27:29
Speaker 5: It is widely unknown, better than just unknown.

00:27:32
Speaker 6: It's really emphasizing how unknown.

00:27:34
Speaker 3: Let me you're locally known.

00:27:36
Speaker 5: Yeah just I would have said only locally known. Yeah. Is that better or not?

00:27:41
Speaker 4: I just think the whole sentence takes a little bit of the luster off. But still if you look at the company, it's kind of amazing.

00:27:47
Speaker 5: Ryan, we were included.

00:27:49
Speaker 7: In Yeah, you see all the big hitters and then get to kaos stars right there. You know those folks in Tennessee football fan they know who you are. Yeah, Illinois, I mean Indiana basketball fans, they know who you are.

00:28:00
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:28:00
Speaker 4: Let me say this too. We got a list yesterday. This first time I've ever seen this. iHeart now shows where all the listeners come from. On the podcast, we used to be able to see at any given time where people were listening, but we get to see the markets where people are listening. And the way they do it is every town in America is associated with a big city, so right, like so Middlesborough, Kentucky is actually associated with Knoxville. You know, Frankfurt is probably associated with Lexington, et cetera. So if you look at our listeners, the most listeners we have is actually in the Louisville demographic, which is because Louisville's bigger, I mean that that would be what it is. But then next is Lexington, but then we were surprised Ryan. Next was Indianapolis, Yeah, and next was Nashville, and then it But what was amazing is there's no local show in the country that has over one thousand listeners.

00:28:57
Speaker 5: A day in more markets than ours.

00:29:01
Speaker 4: We have something like twenty seven markets around the country where we have at least one thousand listeners a day, and that includes places like Orlando, Philadelphia.

00:29:13
Speaker 5: Excuse me. That is a really cool thing.

00:29:16
Speaker 4: And for a lot of you that are podcast and streaming people, the fact that there are people literally listening in over one thousand people listening in twenty seven different markets around around the country, that is crazy.

00:29:31
Speaker 5: I mean that really is crazy. For a local show.

00:29:34
Speaker 4: The second biggest show which I won't say what it is, but the second biggest show is in another state.

00:29:40
Speaker 5: They only have that in.

00:29:42
Speaker 4: Five markets, and we have it in twenty seven, which is crazy.

00:29:46
Speaker 5: It is crazy.

00:29:47
Speaker 7: Just recently, people come into Kasbar that they listened to the podcast in Vermont. They live in Delaware. But I was kind of surprised that Indianapolis was being bigger than Nashville, Knoxville.

00:29:56
Speaker 4: Indianapolis was a lot, it was, so I don't know, maybe there's more of con Tucky considered that. But what part of Kentucky would be considered Indianapolis, because you would think it would be considered Louisville.

00:30:05
Speaker 7: Yeah, Jersonville, New Albany. Oh, that's going to be part of the Louisville market.

00:30:08
Speaker 4: So I don't know what it was, but I guess we have people in Indianapolis. So salute to all of you in Indianapolis.

00:30:13
Speaker 5: Who's up next, Casey, Casey, go ahead, Casey, Hey.

00:30:18
Speaker 11: Good warning, fellas. Happy Halloween.

00:30:22
Speaker 5: I did go in.

00:30:25
Speaker 11: So that picture of you, your mom and Larry and Larry and his KSR hat is the best thing I've ever seen. It brought a chair to my eye. But the reason I called I'm really impressed so far, which last night is hard to talk about. But Yellovich, I think he's gonna end up starting sooner rather than later. I think he's just gonna be tough this year. And that's all I have. I hope you guys have a great weekend.

00:30:48
Speaker 4: Okay, you as well, what do you think about yellowch Look, I thought really good in the first game, struggled a little bit last night, but I still think a lot of promise, probably tougher than I would have thought.

00:31:00
Speaker 6: You know, I said on the pregame show before the game that I'm a believer. I think there's a lot that he just hasn't untapped. He's still getting used to being over here, and last night nothing was really working. So I want to be careful complimenting things. But I thought for him a little bit. In the first half, he and Malachi Marino were working well together. I don't think Marino got rewarded with an assist because they didn't finish, but he had two or three really nice passes. They kind of looked like Amar hitting some cutting guys and it was in there. One of them was to Yellowvich. Those two had a little two man game, working as best they could as nothing else was.

00:31:30
Speaker 4: I think the thing I like about Yellovich is, unlike say Big Z, he seems like he can get physical and he is a better defender than Z was when Z was here.

00:31:40
Speaker 7: I really like the abatee and Yellovich rotating into that four spot. I mean, they can get if he needs a tough defender, get debate, need somebody to go out and knock down a couple of shots. Throw yellowch out there. But I'm glad Drew mentioned Malachi. My just fell off. Oh there goes as must tag popped off.

00:31:55
Speaker 3: Oh don't pick it up, play it back on now, not a ground bustas that down?

00:32:00
Speaker 5: All right, go ahead, I'll wear it.

00:32:01
Speaker 7: Malachi, like Drew said, made a couple of really nice passes, didn't finish a couple of times, but I just loved him going strong to the basket.

00:32:08
Speaker 5: That'll happen.

00:32:08
Speaker 7: He'll start finishing those then, shows me how aggressive that kids become.

00:32:12
Speaker 6: It made me great passes.

00:32:13
Speaker 4: It did feel like for Malachi was a welcome to physical play moment because a couple of those big dudes were bodying him and he's gonna have to get used to that because I think he's a very much athletic finesse player and that he got some bodies last night.

00:32:26
Speaker 6: And but that's why these games are good. If he's gardened the six to four center at a local Kentucky's college, he's probably having his way with him and not actually learning anything or having a little breakthrough there so it was good for him to get pushed around a little bit against a good team.

00:32:40
Speaker 4: I what about Jasper Johnson, You know, he was the leading score in the last game, kind of out of control a little bit last night. He shot a three on three out of four plays, and Mark Pope gave him the business coming to the bench, including twice he just ran down the court and shot three immediately.

00:32:59
Speaker 5: Good learning experience. It's hopefully for him too.

00:33:01
Speaker 7: Let's say, you know, he'll get smarter in the situation like that. Him and Chandler both I think kind of forced a couple threes. Maybe they shouldn't have done that, but one of those guys needs to step up and kind of be a leader, you know, be more of a floor general because they were out of sorts offensively last night.

00:33:13
Speaker 4: We compare him to Rob Dillingham, but shitn and we had those moments with Rod Dillon Rob Dillingham too, where we'd go, hey, Rob, take a deep breath, it's gonna be okay.

00:33:21
Speaker 5: I think there was a little bit of it.

00:33:22
Speaker 3: Last night's performance kind of just balanced out what happened against Purdue. You know, played great against them, and I think that we probably should just have that opinion for both the games just in general, they're both exhibition games. Take them at face value for what they are.

00:33:35
Speaker 4: Surf Post number one choice and clean Up in Restoration. They're sponsoring a lot of stuff. First Responder Bowl, ESPN Radio College Football Tour, the Armed Forces Bowl, and they sponsored Ryan Lemon's clean up of his house.

00:33:46
Speaker 5: It's all there. Serve Pro.

00:33:48
Speaker 4: We hope you don't need them, but if you do, they'll make a mold, fire storm or water damage be like it never ever happened. It is serve pro or online, servepro dot com. And congratulations to Sarah gil from the Lexington Fire Department who won the sir Pro National Female Firefighter Challenge.

00:34:06
Speaker 5: Sarah McGill, Sarah McGill. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back.

00:34:12
Speaker 4: It is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:34:16
Speaker 5: Who is this Liam.

00:34:18
Speaker 3: Louke Tremble reading books?

00:34:20
Speaker 4: Huh interesting, I haven't heard this two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, by the way, I heard.

00:34:26
Speaker 5: Do you know who the is it?

00:34:27
Speaker 4: The Old Sixties or Old Sixties. What's the name of the group, Oh O sixties.

00:34:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, they're at Burle They were at the Borough.

00:34:36
Speaker 4: Last night it was wild. I mean, I wasn't there real that. I saw the scene and it was raining and cold and wild. They're gonna be there again tonight. I may have to find a way to sneak in. It looked like the most fun I don't even know who they are, look like the most fun thing I've ever seen in at the Burl. That's the That's the wildest atmosphere around that place I've ever seen.

00:34:57
Speaker 5: You know, I'm not far from it.

00:34:58
Speaker 3: Burl is that is that outdoors or it's.

00:35:00
Speaker 4: Indoors and outdoors, but they were doing it. They're doing it outdoors for this because they can have more people. I think it was supposed to.

00:35:04
Speaker 7: Be a decent night tonight. Last night was horrible if they had were outside last night. But then I supposed to be really good for trigger treating and everything.

00:35:10
Speaker 4: One person writes, Matt, what about the rumor Nick Rouse said about Dabbo Sweeney and UK?

00:35:17
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:35:18
Speaker 4: I don't know what Nick Rouse is talking about, but uh, you want to make my head explode?

00:35:23
Speaker 5: Make Dabo Sweeney the coach here? I might. I don't even know, you know, I can't.

00:35:28
Speaker 4: I can't clean up the archives quick enough to get rid of the Damno Sweeney.

00:35:33
Speaker 5: Like, there'd be no way for me to handle Adamo, Sweeney.

00:35:36
Speaker 3: Uh Dabbo and Mitch.

00:35:38
Speaker 5: I mean no, I mean they're exactly.

00:35:40
Speaker 7: I think get.

00:35:41
Speaker 5: Alongabo's a little more like outgoing.

00:35:45
Speaker 3: Could you imagine I couldn't deal with coach.

00:35:52
Speaker 4: If you wanted to make the biggest middle finger the Matt jones Hire, it would be bringing in Sweeney. I can't imagine he would leave Clemson though. But let's talk just second about names, because if we lose Saturday night, we won't have a show until Monday, and everybody's gonna be throwing names around beginning immediately after the game, because I think it'll be clear things aren't happening for Mark John somerl got beat by twenty five points last night. It's good for business. That's good for business. Yeah, I completely agree.

00:36:22
Speaker 5: Entucky.

00:36:23
Speaker 4: We want too Lane to kind of bottom out here because then that might run Auburn and LSU away.

00:36:29
Speaker 6: Yeah. I know Stein is a hot name in the fan base. Some are all still one for me, and that that changed nothing. If anything, it helps Kentucky circumstances.

00:36:38
Speaker 4: I do think it helps Kentucky circumstances. Because you know, you have to watch the top names. So like Signetty resigned, Matt Rule at Nebraska resigned. So now I mean Penn State and LSU and those teams, they gotta get somebody, and we're kind of lower on the depth chart. So John somerre all dropping in excitement is probably good for us.

00:36:59
Speaker 7: It probably is good for us. That's why it's interesting, Lawy, if Lane Kiffin leaves, okay, I mean the old Miss is now that'll be in off.

00:37:05
Speaker 4: Is definitely a job better than us though, like l s U is Florida is is old Miss?

00:37:13
Speaker 3: Yes, right now? That would why why kiffn sort of made it that way, I think.

00:37:17
Speaker 6: But would you want to follow him like you're consistently in the conversation the last few years.

00:37:24
Speaker 5: I don't know.

00:37:24
Speaker 4: To me, if you follow him at Old Miss, you better be good because they're gonna want you like that's the highest standard they've ever gon been and they're gonna expect you to be that right off.

00:37:35
Speaker 3: It's been a really good bye out. If it doesn't work, we're gonna have to stick with you.

00:37:42
Speaker 6: I think that if I'm Kiffin, I'm I might not leave because they're gonna match any price. You have that town wrapped around your finger. It's small, you got family ties there. You're in the playoff mix. If I'm him, i would see what old miss will pay me to stay, and I'd take that.

00:37:56
Speaker 5: All right, we're gonna do the draft Kings, kss R parlay.

00:38:00
Speaker 4: I'm gonna give you all a chance again to to do it me too. Yes, I mean I don't want to.

00:38:08
Speaker 3: I mean you are. I'm a former NFL coach.

00:38:11
Speaker 4: We didn't win last week. Yes, that's true, you're well. Do we think having dressed is uh?

00:38:15
Speaker 3: Put the mustache back on, then you get the pick.

00:38:17
Speaker 7: Okay, there you go, put it back on, dumb bears.

00:38:20
Speaker 4: All right, with the mustache back on, we will go. I'll tell you what, Drew, I'll let you go first.

00:38:26
Speaker 5: What do you like?

00:38:27
Speaker 6: I have two I like, and I'm afraid I'm gonna pick the wrong one. I'm gonna flip a coin in my head. All right. Mississippi State getting four and a half against Arkansas. Mississippi State has lost some heartbreakers lately. They've blown some big leads. Should have had Florida beat Arkansas. Uh, just played Auburn, lost a home They're a little better with Petrino, but I think Mississippi State can at least cover the four and a.

00:38:48
Speaker 4: Half interesting all right, I am gonna have to say once I had a girl, half bear the other half cat. I'm gonna have to take Tennessee at home. It's a two and a half point favorite over Oklahoma. I feel like Tennessee is gonna roll Oklahoma. I can't believe they're only a two and a half point favorite at home. I would have thought that would have been seven. So I'm gonna have to say, uh, Corn, don't grow it all on Rocky Top.

00:39:16
Speaker 5: I'm gonna have to pick the Valls. What about that?

00:39:18
Speaker 6: But that's gonna be a shootout.

00:39:20
Speaker 5: So you've got Mississippi State. I got Tennessee.

00:39:24

00:39:30
Speaker 5: What do you got?

00:39:31
Speaker 7: What do you think about Nebraska four and a half over USC.

00:39:34
Speaker 5: You don't get to pick Nebraska because of Dame Key.

00:39:38
Speaker 7: But that's a good bet. They're at home, they're four and a half point. They just resigned their.

00:39:42
Speaker 5: Coach and we want to let him do Nebraska.

00:39:44
Speaker 3: He lost his mustache. No you don't have to pick.

00:39:46
Speaker 7: That was I felt good about it until the mustache fell off.

00:39:48
Speaker 6: I mean, I have three rules in gambling, and one of them is don't ever bet on Nebraska. But if we want to know, the.

00:39:53
Speaker 4: Second is don't ever bet on your family members.

00:39:57

00:40:22
Speaker 3: All right, Let's take Vandy and the three.

00:40:25

Speaker 3: You took my pick.

00:40:32
Speaker 4: First of all, you guys got part of the reason you lose is you all pick with your heart.

00:40:36

00:40:41
Speaker 5: And I agree.

00:40:42

00:41:22
Speaker 5: Well, let's go. Actually, I'll go with you. Right.

00:41:25
Speaker 7: Auburn's defense is really really good, so I'm gonna have trouble scoring. I'm gonna give us thirteen. Like think we lose twenty four to thirteen. Our MVP if since he took mcgallan, I'll take I'll take Cutter.

00:41:36
Speaker 5: Okay.

00:41:37
Speaker 4: I think we're gonna be in this game for some of it, and then I think it'll kind of fall apart at the end. I'm gonna say twenty seven seventeen h and I will take Kendrick Law as my MVP.

00:41:50
Speaker 5: First of all, what's your parley pick?

00:41:51
