Ice-Cream Of Margie (With The Light Blue Hair) (S18E07)

Four Finger Discount (Simpsons Podcast)

Homer becomes the Springfield Ice-Cream Man, which leads Marge to discover a talent for building sculptures, aka "folk art!", out of the popsicle sticks. This was one of the more believable (and therefore better) Homer hustles post-golden era, and includes one of Dando's favourite gags of all time. Prepare to Get Ur Freak On with some absolutely cromulent mid 00s parodies.

creation is the life I've sculpted with you. Now I know that my lego
she is really your leg of WII. Hi. Just that one question,
my darling, what did you do with the ice cream? That was one?
All of sticks? It's in that dumpster? Oh not that one?
Four Finger Discount dude. Welcome to four figure Discount where this week we are
here to review episode ajb F two two. It is ice cream of Margie
with the light blue hair. I'm Dano and I am guy. He's smiling
because we just did a little There was an error with the microphones and I
didn't let him do the I am guy in train. He looked at me
blankly, hell, and then he threw me off by going back to factory
settings. So I was like, I just don't know what to think.
Just keeping you awake. That's increasingly tough for these days. But yes,
I am guy. You are guy indeed, And as I said, we're
here to review ice cream of Margin before we get into that episode. It
is Halloween season. It was Halloween yesterday, as speaky and how did you
get any foot paths? He pies are more of our minced pires are more
of a Christmas thing, aren't they? They are Christmas there, Christmas thing.
Yeah? Yeah, how was your Halloween? My Halloween was just fine,
thank you very much. I went to visit my good buddy Steve.
Do we gave a nickname? Was it Savvy Steve? Savvy Steve? That's
the one. He's always have the new technology, a first adopter of technology
or an early adopter of tech? Was he an earlier doctor of Halloween in
Australia as well? Dude loves Halloween. I love who doesn't love Halloween?
I feel like every kid in the nineties always dreamed of having Halloween. But
our parents are like ecs an American thing. Yes, our parents were grumps
and very parochially and very like you're in Australia. We don't do Halloween in
Australia. It used to bother me so much. Yeah, but my good
buddy Steve Yep goes all out. He has a very nice house and a
very nice part of town and he turns it into an absolute spook house.
What does he do, like a decorations? Yeah, yeah, all mantor
decoration outside in his yard and you know, he sort of set up a
regular loop that was playing, you know Google Mark, you know the Wednesday
show. Yeah, everybody, I've not seen it, but so many Wednesday
Adams this year. There are a lot of Wednesdays out there. Some were
little girls and it was delightful. Some were teenage girls and it was confusing
and it was troubling because I don't want to go to jail. Uh.
That was it was very nice. I went over and helped out Steve because
yeah, there was there were a lot of Tricker treaders on the street.
And as I said, he goes all out. He gets in a lot
of Halloween candy, puts the other these terrific gift bags. I mean,
kids come to the door and expect, oh it's a fantastic Snickers and it's
like he's a gift bag full of forlies. Holy Molly. And they all
love the house so and they all love the all the spooky stuff. So
did you hand out the candy? I did? Yes, I say candy.
It's candy, it's lollies, lollies. Yeah. I mean Alic's been
saying candy. So he watched so many American shows, you know. But
kids now, even like myself, I feel like, will we the first
generation like my generation in the nineties raised on American television? Oh no no,
But I think when I was growing up, saying the seventies and early
eighties, there was still enough Australian television and I guess Australian culture racism out
there. Kids in the country, Hey dad, oh by speaking of there
getting into treble there. Yeah, you would go down the shop and you
would ask for, you know, twenty cents with a mixed lollies as opposed
to hey, you get any candy that would sort of look at you like
you're a weird of That was the game. I still remember going down and
getting like fifty cents worth of mixed lawyes, AND's like I have two lips
one green jelly baby. The first on account is like, motherfucker, you
know you're in trouble when you're that's right, I've got fifty cents. I'm
getting out of the big bag. Yeah, oh dear, the cost of
living has just put the guybosh on all that. But you're getting a bag
of most lawieres. Was just an absolute treat. And this is the kind
of treat that that these kids who went to Steve's Halloween spook House got last
night. So that was great, it was, It was really really nice.
I tried to last minute a little. Can you tell me your story
for you finish your story and I'll take what I was gonna do. Oh
okay. The other thing is we mentioned there were a lot of Wednesday Adams
out there. There are a lot of trade's out there. Now this might
have been like a I think it was just dass knock enough from work.
It wasn't actually or the workplace particularly, you know, building sites are getting
a lot more inclusive because it was essentially I saw a lot of teenage girls
dressed as trade's, like with the high viz and maybe that is what's joining
the pandaverse and now like you know what we need to do learn how to
do shit well lose daughter Audrey the Lovely Louise's daughter. It was one of
these. She was, you know, Freddie rand in a high vis vest
and also brought a pair of those trades undies and was like wearing the moutside
of dants. So sorry, that's got probably gonna be embarrassing for her.
But I did see our man Charlie Clawson from TOFOP and other amazing podcasts.
Two guys, one cup? Is that what it is? I believe?
So yeah, yeah, yeah, I've not listened to apologies Charlie, but
did see him say all your kids out there dress for Halloween in your footy
gear. You need to have a good art look at yourself. And I
was like, Alie, it was considering. I'm like, what's roving your
footing gear? It's like your team might be a horror show, buddy borrow.
Charlie follows the saint look. He may well have been of a mind
that's like, are you gonna put on a costume for Halloween? Put on
a costume for Halloween as opposed to borrowing your dad's or your mom's high viz
or is getting it your footy jumper? Well maybe you should consider that when
he dresses up a disgrunted old man hiding behind a Twitter profile. What a
burn from the course. We love Charlie great Man. We're gonna have them
on the show again, hopefully someday. Hopefully, someday I'll get to go
on to his show again one day, probably not after that, thanks a
much. But you were about to say about last night's Halloween, because when
you were recording this on the first of November, so after Halloween, Yeah,
not as spooky. What spooky has seen the mess you have to clean
up the day after. That's that's the spooky part of today. First,
it's the first day of the month. It is indeed new Billboard day listeners
will be able to tell from the lack of pauses and edits and all that
kind of stuff. The dann on our are in the same room again,
We're stund to make every show in the same room. I think. Moving
forward, yeah, I've overcome my fear of the road cast, but still,
and it was a genuine fear I was. I was, generally so
we recorded the first edition of the movie guys we've mitched in like years last
Monday. I think it was well a couple of nights ago. Couple nights
ago. Yeah, so today is Wednesdays. Yeah, record the the review
of the Fog for the movie Guys, which is available on our Patreon.
If you're not a member of our patreon, you should be. Yeah.
And I was like, Guys, I can't hear Poppy or something that you
could hear us. The microphone was plugged in and you had the roadcastle pluged
into the laptop. And normally when you plugged roadcast into the laptop, we
can't explain why, it just makes everything stop working right correct, but it
was not doing it this time. And then you still had your headphones connected
to your laptop and I was like, you know, it's a bit of
a delay. And I was like, oh, there's a there's an echo.
And I was like yeah, but if the roadcast is working, then
on your laptop, just use the headphones on the roadcast. You're like,
I'm not doing nothing, and I was like, there was this fear.
I'm not unplugging the headphones. I'm I'm not fucking with it. That's exactly
what I said, because honestly, when this started to happen, when we
had this technical issue, I could feel you getting frustrated was getting me frustrated
and also just no, I wasn't frustrated. I was just confused. I'm
like, I can't work out why this is happening. It doesn't make sense
because it happened to you as well, didn't It happened to me once and
then I fixed it, And it's happened to me to a friend of the
show, elliot Jo O'Neil once and he did the same thing I did and
it fixed it straight away. And You're like, I'm doing this and it's
not working. I'm like, yeah, okay, So that means you're getting
frustrated that not at you though, just at the situation. Well, I'm
part of the situation. But it's better being in the same room it is.
Yeah, don't you let us know you guys. Simpson's the mailback at
gmail dot com. Have you know the last couple of shows have been more
energetic and more free flowing and tangent filled. It's because I'm on meth.
Yeah, that's well, he is from Geelong. We're here though, to
talk about the front door. Yes, talking about Halloween and your front door,
which is a mess at the moment. Yeah, this either looks like
Halloween or a crime scene. Bones and shit everywhere. So what I was
like, I was like, you know what, I was gonna do my
spooky mask out and put a blanket up over the front and sad and to
review down and spook the shit out of kids when they come around the front,
because we've got like a pillar. After all, the kids have been
spoken the shit out of your house by kicking in your gart no, right,
yeah, anyway, so I'll try to keet this blanket up. And
for some reason, it's just been so windy lately, right and yesterday I
put it up in the wind, just like I'll try and hold it down
with chairs. It didn't really work. Rocks didn't really work. And I
was like, well, I'll put some sticky tape on there as well,
try to like keep this blanket up on the front little porch area. I
go to pick up Alliott, come back and the sheets halfway down the street
and it's just shit everywhere. I was like, well, it looks like
I'm just getting the Scooby Doo out for that again. So yeah, so
I tried to do. But next year what I want to do is,
as I said, I've got like that pillar at the front and you can
sort of make people come around the pillar to come into the front porch if
you block off the front entrance. Well, so I'm going to have like
an enter if you dare, and I'm going to actually scare kids. But
do you feel bad about scaring kids now? Talloween's part of the fun,
right, Nicholas like, I don't scare the kids, and I was like,
like them, Well, there's a difference between traumatizing and a little bit
of a I said, enter if you dare. And again, one other
thing that you find folks should know. I don't know if this is providing
too much of a glimpse behind the curtain, but we're going to be recording
two episodes back to back today. Yeah, we're getting because basically one of
the pictures for Patreon is that we if you're a supporter of ours, you
get the show a week early. And since we've been back from England,
it's just been one thing af from another, and we haven't You've basically been
getting on the free feed the show at the same time a few hours later,
but pretty much the same day as the Patreon but now supporters so once
again going to get the show a week early, which is why we're doing
the back to back now. Indeed, and the reason I mentioned that is
because you know, we're about to talk about ice cream Marjie, but then
after that we're going to do the It's not the Horde couple, the ha
Horde couple, and the b plot in that has is skipping ahead a little
bit. Homer reading Lisa a Harry Potter knockoff novel that ends with spoiler the
death of a certain character, Gray Stash. That was one of my tribute
questions. Actually, no, it was one of my trivia questions early on,
and then it was kind of like, it's pretty obvious. So they're
repeating this guy's name a lot. What color is Marge's hair? You think,
oh, they're only going to say this once. I'll be able to
catch the end of it. And it was like they keep saying it,
Yeah, they keep saying it. But I did like that be plot.
I think it's even more relatable now with binge watching shows. Oh absolutely,
I can't wait to get into that one. Yeah, but yeah, it
sort of talks about how Homer's trying to basically not traumatize Lisa by covering up
this the death of this character. But you need that in fiction, I
think. And we'll talk about that more. And we like the couple and
I almost saw it as sort of like block your ears kids cut the Sander
situation, where it's just like, I'm just gonna you know, she said
it's gonna be end of her childhood and I like that. Homer thought ahead
and went, I don't know, Okay, I'm not going to ruin this
for her, you know. And he created this ending not because he was
trying to be a dick about it. No, he created his ending for
himself. It was all about Jamie's bond and Start wasn'ting with that. Big
was trying to protect her, and I was like, this is nice.
That's not touched. Yes, yeah, but nothing about that episode. We
hand to talk about ice Cream of Margie right. This episode was written by
Carolyn Amine, and I'm speaking to Carolyn tomorrow. I was about to say
a friend of the pod, yeah for four Finger Discount Extra and legitimate friend
of the Pods. Supposed to me just being snargy and trying to get people
on board. She'll she'll be on next week's episode of four Finger Discount Extra.
Basically she has written someone. When you think of post Golden Euro she's
written the best episodes. It might be like she wrote hallowin of Horror.
She wrote this episode as well. She wrote the one that I uh there
was like two three weeks ago, which made me genuinely cry. One of
the new episodes. I I can't recall what was the top of my head,
but she wrote this episode here. And I haven't spoken to you about
this episode, but and I know this episode has a they had to make
another margin, an arguing episode, but I think the way they that Karen
handled that that in this episode is so much more superior to the way they've
handled in previous episodes. And that it wasn't Homer being a dick to cause
the situation right, and once it had happened, he did all he could
to It's kind of like the episode where they stuck the landing and they ended
up with Homer saying I'm driving home drunk and Mars just accepted it. He
did everything he could to make it up to her, and his reasonings behind
it made sense. I didn't think Home was at all, in any way
really a dick in this episode. I think he certainly had some dickish moments.
Yeah, but in the March situation, in what way was what he
did was crashing into the popsicles. It wasn't being a dick. He just
he fucked up. It was just it was a buffoon fuck up. That
wasn't him going out of his way to be selfish. He just he was
trying to get there in time. Yeah, and made a wrong choice.
That's true. There was a bit of sort of punch telegraphing where you could
you could see it and hear it when Marge's like, now it's at three
o'clock home, are you going to be here? Right? And it's like,
well, he's certainly not going to be here. Why is that going
to be the case? At least it wasn't because he tried to get pissed
at most instead or something. It was shit, I was trying to make
more money for the family. Oh shit, I'm late, I better get
home. And he did see an opportunity and decided to take it, and
it wasn't he's making money. Well, that's true, and circumstances did did
conspire against him, So yeah, that's understandable. But at the same time,
m I've written down. They didn't. They didn't need the line about
where he says something along the lines of excuse me for having enormous flaws and
that I don't work on Yeah's. That didn't fit this because I was like,
the that's the end of the of the break right. He came out
from commercials him saying, look, I'm sorry, Marge. You know I
did this because I was trying to make more money for you. And the
best thing about me doing this was I got to bring home the sticks and
seeing you smile when you were working this other stuff. And I was like,
why did you have him say that line? Then? Don't point out
how horrible this character has been in recent episodes. Just stick the landing.
Maybe that's what angered Slash. Upset me about it because I've written down,
Oh fuck off with these apologies. It makes me think less of Homer and
mar Yeah, because they followed up from the commercial. It wasn't needed because
he wasn't being a dick after. It wasn't like after the commercial was like,
well scoo you, Marge. All I was trying to do is help
this family. Well, if you don't like it, then I'm out of
here. It was like, look, Marge, I'm really sorry. Can
you please listen and let me explain why this happened. I think initially,
when he's on the other side of the bedroom door and trying to explain and
all that, you know, it wasn't really ringing true to me. At
least it wasn't until he started taking the polaroids and sliding them under the door
to show me how sad he was. But I feel like, even I
know what you're saying with him, He's like, you want to come cook
dinner? I really like lasagna? Yeah I would. That could be taken
out of a season seven episodes. It doesn't feel all that dickish. Feels
pretty dickish to me, does it. Yeah? Yeah, I mean,
but Homer's doesn't. Look at the episode where Homer, where Kirk and Luan
split up, right, let's just go back to a Homer and Marge split
up angle, right. She leaves him hot dogs throwing in the fridge because
he's just he's being a dick and he comes home and just expects him to
cook for him. So he's always been this way. It's not like this
is a new trait of Homer. I guess not. I know, yeah,
but it just feels like we're getting sort of more and more of the
same thing lately. And even when it's presented with a little bit more nuanced
and sensitivity, like front of the Pod Caroline has here, I don't know,
it still feels like, yeah, but we're traveling down the same road,
even if the road, even if the ride's a little smoother this time,
if you know what I mean. I don't think this episode needed the
Homer March split up angle. I would have liked to a different, different
take this in a different direction, yeah, because they were working so well
as a team. It was, and it wasn't like the carpentry episode where
he was benefiting from her hard work. They were both doing because he I
really liked the ice cream angle, and I like that she explained why he
wasn't he got fired at least at least they explained he got fired right so
we had the time to do it, and they gave me he had the
severance pace you could buy the ice cream truck and things like that. And
it does seem like a selfish thing at first because he's using his money,
but he's good at his job. Well yeah, yeah, I mean this
manufactured conflict. At the very end with ruining Marge's art exhibition, it just
felt like, oh, yeah, we're gonna have to introduce some element of
risk or what's gonna happen or whatever, even though we sort of know how
it is going to wrap up. I don't know. It just didn't sit
all that well with me. No, I wasn't throwing tomatoes at the television
or anything like that. I just did feel it feel a little bit like
in my notes, I literally had again with the Homer and Marge splitting up
angle. Maybe he could have gone and I guess this kind of rings too
true to the Pretzel episode. But maybe Homer gets in trouble for something with
the mafia or they know, they tell you you can't do it anymore,
and then that way he can't supply the sticks is off. I think it
needs some external yeah hazard to Homer in Marge's relationship or the other ice cream
guys in Springfield. It's like, hey, what are you doing? Yeah?
Exactly Like there's a movie I love, a very low key Scottish comedy
actually called comfort and joy which are the comforting it is and joyful it is
both of those things. I mean, it sounds Christmas and it is kind
of set at Christmas, and I tend to watch it around that time.
But the just over this, you've got this sort of breakfast DJ who you
love the idea of being in a DJ. I feel like that's your dream
life that you just never got to experience. It is even during the fog,
you're like, Stevie, that's my job, man, that should have
been me, small coastal town station. Live with the dream. It's fantastic
sort of doing it via podcasting now, but it gets caught up in the
in this mob war between two like mister Softy ice cream vendors, and they're
basically using mafia techniques on each other. Track it down, if you can
find it, it could have been maybe you could have gone. I'm not
saying this episode needed to be changed, but maybe you could have as an
alternative. The weather gets cold, no one wants to buy I scream in
your yeah, and Homer, I know, does something to try and build
up the sales or I don't know. So then he needs again that's the
that's the Pretsal episode against he needs the mafia's help to help fund him so
he can get more sticks out. I don't know, but I just didn't
at first when we had Homer Marge arguing and Home was such a dick about
it. In that moment, I was like, Oh, no, Caroline,
You're usually better than this. But I thought, because if you think
if he didn't react that way in that scene, do you think you would
have cared as much about the Marge being annoyed at homework? It didn't split
up right, No. I thought her anger towards him was a little bit
unfair, to be honest, because it's not he did it deliberately. She
gave him no chance to explain him. So I understand the frustration, but
it's not like he went out of his way too fuck it up for it.
It's like you destroyed my dreams that It's like. Look to Caroline's credits,
and I'm not just saying this because she's on the show next week.
It might be listening to this episode. But I think she did a very
good job of sort of laying the groundwork for Marge feeling a bit underappreciated,
a little unfulfilled by way of the open show and all these women who were
achieving all this great stuff, and by the way, that was also a
pretty good, pretty neat thing about she sort of pre predicted the whole girl
boss lega. She phenomenal legacy and munch, which I thought pedoph well at
the end with the with the legawi was a lega. We Yeah, actually
that was really nice. So again I'm not blowing smoky Carolyn. That was
actually really well mane Okay, Karen is honestly my favorite writer post gold Near
of the Simpsons. And you know what's incredibley, I'm going to bring this
up in that conversation. I could not believe this, right she was until
I think it's like I look at my notes, like season seventeen or something
something like that. It's been crazy like that, despite the pilot and one
episode in season two, I think it's three eyes, two eyes whatever it
is the one that the fish oh no, no, yeah, Mohoma has
the fugu. I think besides those those two episodes, the pilot and that
one there, Carolyn Amina is the only female to write to have a solo
credit on a Simpsons episode who isn't related to as either by being a sister
or married to a male staff member until like season seventeen. That is fucking
wild. Right, that is a bit wild. They did not hire,
they did not give a solo writing credit to a female who wasn't related to
a staffman. That's mental that does not get discussed often enough. Lift your
game, Well they have, they have. It's only to like maybe like
twenty eighteen that they started to see a difference. But I'm like, that's
a huge stat right, it is seventeen seasons and only one episode that by
a woman who the two at the start, yes, who wasn't related.
By being like who wasn't in the bow case, that's that's not cool.
I really would love to hear her thoughts on that, because I just think
it's crazy. Tune in for that episode. Yes, that's what I'm going
to bring up in our my interview with Karen on next week's episode of four.
Depending wherever you listen to if you're a patron, will be next week
if you're not somewhere down the load somewhere. Yeah, but I thought that
that laid the groundwork really well for Marge feeling gum, Yeah, unfulfilled,
and yeah, she's found this outlet and she's found and she's getting validation and
appreciation for it and for it to be wrecked in the way that it was.
Look, I think it justifies her response because yeah, I don't think
it's it's a natural knee jerk reaction to having something you've built up broken down.
Yeah, very quickly. So she's great at what writing the March episodes,
Carolyn min I'm looking at for her episodes here, she wrote little Big
Mum, right, which is where Marge hurts her legs and she's it's a
scheme. She came up with super sexy Fanders. So she also wrote Night
of the Dolphin, the treos of horror with the Dolphin episode like that one's
great triple threat. She wrote your episode triple threat that she's got a big
fan in Hernhill. Yeah, a star is torn the Lisa home so that
we liked where he was her coaches. But yeah, and this is the
next one, ice Cream of Margie. But just the one she wrote recently,
What was it? This is the one that got you tearing up?
Yeah, it's not on the list here they haven't updated a Wikipedia page.
Damn you all right, Simpsons season thirty five. I apologies Karen if not
remember it off by heart, but it is a fantastic episode. I highly.
Everyone going and watching it is called a mid Childhood Night's Dream, and
if you are a parent of a kid who is just about to enter kindergarten,
you will watch it and you will cry your eyes out. I'm none
of those things. So what set up the story was that she was asked
during a panel where the Simpsons cars were all part of this panel, which
was hosted by Yardley Smith during COVID right, they sort of did over zoom
and Yardly said, what advice would you give Marge Carolyn, as the mother
of a ten year old boy? What would you give it to her?
And she couldn't think of anything at the time. Then over time she's learnt
that cherish every moment because ten years old is when your boys don't want you
to hug them anymore. And that's sort of like the theme of this episode
of Marge fearing losing her child because he's not a child anymore. It's beautiful,
honestly. Check it out a Mid Childhood Nights stream. It'll be available
today actually and two Australians on Disney Plus because we're about two or three weeks
behind. But every Wednesday now on Disney Plus we got new episodes so mid
Childhood Nights Dream will be airing today, So we'll be aboule right now on
Disney Plus as you listen to this, so check it out. All right.
So another thing I want to mention about this episode was the idea of
being the ice cream man, don't lie. It's one of those jobs we've
always pondered what would that be like, trying around like what's the job for
you? Where've just like, you know, you see the guy at Eastern
Beach here in Jeelong driving the Thomas the Tank and you're like, what a
job just driving Thomas up and down the beach. Yeah. Yeah, there's
the the famous train in Melbourne puffing Billy. Yeah, it's sort of like
a mini train. Just bring enjoy. Yeah, because yeah, no one's
up. No one's upset when they see the ice crim No, no one's
upset when they're riding little Thomas the Tank engine on the Gelong waterfront. Ye,
which I looked at him like have they paid the rights for this?
Because this is this is blatant Clayton copyright, but it's been there forever.
It's probably like the Polish knockoff version Tomash. Yeah. Well I saw I
think it was last year, maybe the year before. Mo've even been during
COVID. Actually they was selling the business. Oh and they sold it,
and I think it was like one hundred and thirty thousand. I was like,
it seems like a lot, but think of how much money you make
doing this. True, I think it's like seven dollars per person a ride.
That fucking thing's full every time it goes up and down the beach.
It's like you make it one hundred bucks a ride, mate. True,
it's a fuel driven it's not electric vehicle. Is this? I have no
idea what could be electric? I'm just wondering what your overhead would be like.
The cats would definitely claim something that money, right, Oh yeah,
of course hand gestures signifying money. Great audio, Well done, guy,
we're quite how long how long you've been podcasts? I went about three seconds
quite there, and all the fans like, what are you talking about?
Oh God? I could feel the reflex because I was about to say it
as well. I can feel on the shoulders they're about to go. There's
I thought. It was also very early two thousands, very nostalgic for me,
this episode with the pimp my ride. I was about to say,
this is the most two thousands episode that ever two thousand ALIG, which I
thought was awesome. I really liked that. I mean, it's just it
was such a flashback to my childhood. O. My childhood, but like
my early teens was just like absolutely the li G Show was everything. Mate
was marvelous. But I mean doing those two things back to back with all
the Pimp My Ride for sort of visuals and get your freak on playing Break
One by the great Missy Elliott and then yeah, going to the LG things
like but but you know, it feels dated. But also those things are
so iconic that I don't feel like it feels data in the negative way like
it kind of does. But like if you live through that year, you
just like, holy shit, true true. I mean, I don't know.
I've talked about the nostalgia cycle and how it's usually maybe twenty years when
you after something happens that you start to go, ah, you really appreciate
it, unless of course it was really part of your tire. Because Pip
My Ride was one of those reality shows that will always be fun to watch
in my opinion, like it's never going to feel out of date, like
watching exhibit just fix up carps. Apparently there was an episode where they juiced
up a Yeah, I've never seen that one. And also the l G.
I haven't gone backing movies at Alig for a long time. It probably
wouldn't work as well today. I don't think a lot of it, although
just does bor it stand up today. It does. Actually what he's meant
to be just ridiculous that he is, and he's also basically hanging other people
out to dry just by them revealing their own sort of prejudices and byes,
and they got stuff by I know. I keep shilling the Netflix documentary Beckham,
but there's a great bit on It's watched two episodes of it. Have
you seen the bit where they actually are being interviewed by Alig No. I
think Posha Ha's just had like their first son. That's a flashback one here.
Yeah. Yeah, he's saying something about oh damn it. I forgot
the exact game, but it's just a great bait and switch because they're talking
about all right, so you know he's clearly he's not shitting his pants or
something like that. Yeah, it must be fun leaving with David and Beckham
to his credit sort of just takes it on the chin as he does.
But I'm sorry, I really balls up that gay. But it's a you
think you're talking about the baby shit and his nappies, but yeah, basically
it's basically, oh, yeah, you've got this child. Oh, by
the way, yes he's the child is David Beckham my favorite? What were
your favorite moments from Ice Scream of Margie? Look? A few good visual
gags. I really liked the ice cream scoop at the grave. Yeah,
that was pretty neat. Yeah, so that was quite funny. I really
liked Marge shooting the two six shoots. Yeah, on the e not the
yard, the Texas the Texas billionaires helping her out with that thought, that
was pretty neat. Some good one liners. Homer's joke about serving wood or
giving wood, what a one liner, pretty racy. And a couple in
the next one as well, the whole a couple. I was like,
boy, oh boy, millhouse isn't in the millhouse one? Watching him,
I was like, how did that sneak through? And Crusty's joke about one
man Joe on Broadway one man wait to see it a true story? That's
great. You just love Crussy saying true story, true story, and once
again they've they've really gone all out with the soundtrack budget because a lot of
music in this but they fit perfectly as well. They really fucking called it
home. I looked driving down at the Hill with Money for Nothing playing.
That's one of the greatest opening rifts of all time when it comes to rock
music. He sort of is it better after hearing Sting saying I want or
do you think just cutting into I think like that build up and it's like
you need the build Yeah, you need the build I mean, it works
pretty well by itself, but the build up is what makes it. They
say it at Live Aid and Sting was there, so he did the Eye's
fucking so cool. I think I saw Diastrates live around that. Yeah,
yeah, I think that was one of the first concerts actually ever went to.
I always loved their is it Walk of Life? You can't you can't
not be smiling when listened to that. So yeah, pretty good band,
Pretty good, Yeah, pretty good. But it just seems like a hopo
who just picked up a guitar one day, and it's just like, look,
he was so fucking good. Well, I thing, I mean it's
This was unintended, but again part of the whole unified theory of four finger
discount. I mentioned Comfort and Enjoy earlier. Yeah, it's by going named
Bill Forsyth, who must have been pretty cool with Mark Knopfler because of Darstreids's
music appears and Comfort and Joy. And also Mark Knopfler did the iconic and
probably one of the best soundtrack cuts of all the time. He did the
theme for Local hero Oh Shit Yeah, which is just a fantastic piece of
music and one that I've just loved for decades and decades. So there we
are it all times. But the other great piece of music, and this
was, of course what we know from King of the Hill Feels So Good
by Chuck Manji, an aptly named piece of music because it just makes you
feel good when you hear it. It really does. It's just so mellow.
It's it is the Dictionary definition of mellow. Now I get the feeling
that you didn't like this scene, but I love the homo poloid scene.
I love me. I liked that, okay, just the me. Last
week was the cat Fanunds stands and it took the photo of the cat Foyd
down the stands that like. I just love that he backed it up with
a photo of the cat. It's a rule of three's plus three A.
Yeah, it's just it's one of my favorite I say, post Golden ear
at moments. I just this is an old time of me. I love
this. I love this moment. I remember when I first I remember watched
this when I first aired The Home of the ice Cream Truck. This is
one of my favorites post season twelve episodes without this is definitely, in my
opinion, the best episode of season eighteen so far. Okay, I wouldn't
go quite that far, but I mean, what did you enjoy more from
season eighteen? Do you think that's a really good question. I mean,
we're seven episodes in. I'm gonna have to go back. I'll flick through
here. The answer is not g I do. That was dog shit please
some I don't hammer them, which was similar to this, except he was
like mooching off of Marger's skills. Jasey and the Pussycats, I met the
chef and the wife and the homer was pretty good. Yes, I think
that was the one that was a good one. Yeah, and we've had
I think this is and I quite like Mowen Lisa, but then that's this.
This is better molor Lisa. I think it might because that last week
felt like they built a story around guest stars. True. True, I
get your points, Mo, and Lisa is very much in my in my
wheelhouse though. So, I mean that's stuff that I enjoyed. I just
always saw this as one of Homer's escapades that seemed believable. I just love
it when he's good at something. True. Yeah, I mean I didn't
feel like, you know, when he's going to do the arm contest,
the armiss and just shit like that, And it's like, what was the
point of this? Where this one felt like it made sense? It feels
a little more organic. You're right. I mean one of the rules of
reviewing is you review what you've got, not what you want it to be.
And I must have met there are times when I was watching this,
Gume, I would have done that a bit differently, or you should have
maybe done it like that, Carolina me eh, but no, we got
what we got, and look, you enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy it
as much, but I didn't dislike it. Yeah, So this has always
been one of my favorites for me. Yeah, I also loved Homer driving
away from the kids. How do your kids want? Next question? You
there eating the paste. Yes, it's trivia time, which means it is
also shout out time for our beloved. We're going to call them our stonecutters

hit you with your first question when you were playing. Is it called Cincinnati
time Wasted? That's what they were playing. Yeah, but someone else called
it roll o something. Yeah, it's a rollo polo. Yeah, what
do you yell when you are passing the coffee? That she didn't write it
down, No, that's what home. We got the two minutes of tickles
for that's correct. You yell hot pot, hot pot. My first question
is mister Burns punishes them for not being like working as a team. He
tells me to do how many towels fifty twelve fifty twelves? Yes, would
be so dizzy. In Professor Stein's book Life Beyond Wife, how about that's
my question? How many examples are providing a name of the book? Oh,
okay, sorry, how many examples are provided? Is it eight?
It is indeed eight? Yeah. The shock of Opal again guy doing a
face that no one has any idea what he's doing. So good it is
audio. I thought he was about to have a fit. I mainly did
that because it was one of my favorite moments. It didn't quite get to
I love the reaction shot and then the call back to the reaction shot.
It reminded me of Troy mclaurin's like the Dormit the Juicer. Uh, your
next question, and well, my final one, because the Life Behind Wife
was Beyond Wife was one of mine. I've got Snake is in the helicopter
and he says there's a tie up on where Oh, I only got this
because it was a trivia note on the Wikipedia page, because there's something,
there's something to it. Was it like the one O two and the five
oh four? Oh? It was not pretty close. It's like one I
one slash four O five, so not you get the right numbers just lexi
but with numbers one one four five interchange. Interchange between the one O one
and the four O five freeways is actually in Sherman Oaks, California. There
we go. Did you want another question me one more than we get into
a review? Okay, that's fine. It's also related to that chase.
How many other channels were showing the chase before ken Brookman got on board six
five once again holding my hand, I thought, you wake it, Ads,
you just hold up your hand. I'm like, say the number.
Well, it was channels two, four, five, seven, and sixty
three. There we go. The original edit of ice Cream of Margin with
the Light Blue Hair was November twenty sixth, two thousand and six. By
the way, yeah, we did an aborted recording where we started to as
we mentioned, we it was a bit of a problem with the level,
so we restarted. Because Dan it's a perfectionist, good on it, but
he was saying, Hey, ice Cream of Jeanie with the light blue hair.
That's a play on what And did I say ice cream of Genie?
Oh? Well, Margie, but it's a play on a song called I
Dream of Jeannie with the Light brown hair. Yes, And then they took
that title and they turned into the show I Dream of Jeanie. That's dead.
That the five o'clock or five thirty PM special in light Channel nine.
Was it that a Brady Bunch or Bewitched? You know? The other great
thing about living in the nineties and being a teenager, well a teenager in
a twenty something you went out and partied all night watching that middle of them.
They turned the I Dream of Genie theme into like a house track no
ship. Yeah, but they also did it with the Sesame Street theme.
Really and may have told me this that would have gone fucking off. It
was to use the term of today's youth a banger. Well, it was
very much tune, but they spelled it sesamease treats. And I was like,
oh, no, ecstasy, Oh I get it. Sorry, that
was my Russell Brand imitation. We can't do those these days. No,
If you know he's your best friend. That's true. Do you want to
hear a really great anecdote? And they got jokes lately. But the episode
kicks off with Bart and he's wasting the cereals only eating the clown heads.
Ali is very much like this, you know, just I think every kid
has a little particular thing where they's like, I only want the red eminem
you know what I mean. It loves red Emms's his favorite car. I'm
like, just eat them. Was like, I just want the red one.
Oh my god, He's going to be a rock star with his rider.
I'm sorry jumping ahead to the next episode. Were to do after this,
but one of my favorite bits in that in the upcoming episode The Whoreharde
Couple is when Lisa finds like a marshmallow vein in the ice cream. I
used to want to say this for that review. Maybe you could do that.
It's my favorite moments from the next episode coming Attraction A. Stay tuned
for the next something we teased them, We've teased them. No, no,
we'll tease them. We'll do it in the next episode. Okay,
fine, the next episode. Let's me teasing damn it. But the only
it's the eyes of the lobsters, and Marge says, you know, your
father works so hard to pay for all this cereal and everything, and it
cuts to home. I just goofing off at work and it reminded me of
just Ad FOURD. You know, just add for This is the kind of
shit we do. We wouldn't necessarily run around on that chairs, but we
just fucked around. This is why Ford closed in Well, we knew it
was closing, so we're just like, what's the point in trying. We're
going to lose their jobs anyway. That was literally the mentality was like they're
gonna they can't fire us now basically unless like you do something drastically wrong,
you can't be fired because of the union. And basically it's like we're going
to do that job in two years. Let's just mooch as actually began,
all right. So yeah, Dane's handing out pirated copies of The Fantastic four
to Glenn the oh yeah, the Lovely Nerd. Yeah yeah, what did
we mention that was that last week's show? Was it on four Finger of
Discount or was it on one of our patron shows? Because this is a
good reason to become a Patriot because we're talking. I can't remember what it
was. I think it was last week's show. Why were we talking about
the Fantastic Four? Why were we talking about them? That's a good question.
We talk. We weren't talking about it during the south Park episode.
No, no, no, it was before that. Yeah, because I've
put it out there. It was one of our reviews. Listeners, we're
churning out so much material for you. We're not sure if it was in
the last four finger discount. But if it was, let us know in
a mailbag. Let us know since the mail back at gm out dot com.
But yeah, just four it was just it's just a his state.
I was about to say it reminded you of pop culture, except you were
actually doing work there. It wasn't really, But yeah, Rollo polo Cincinnati
time ways. I'm sure there's a gag there that's just lost on us.
The whole Cincinnati time waste. I don't really. I think Cincinnati is just
a fun name to say. Maybe, yeah, I like saying it.
But Homer, he gets the penalty in two minutes of tickles. I love
that when they left, he'll still going, that's what happens. You been
tickled you just you're in the zone. Yeah, residual tickle you feel like
you've been tickled, Like Nicola. If I just got this to her,
she just freaks out, like what his way my fingers is pretending I'm going
to tickle her like Alliot as well. But I just hold my my fingers
here. He's like, don't tickle me. And I hold my fingers in
near his neck and he's like, stop it. Stop, I'm not touching
you, stop it. Stop, help me. Good lord. I don't
know. I mean, I guess I am. I haven't tickled in such
a long term. Lou will always say, you know, like I'll be
getting friendly. She like that's tickling, and I'm like, okay. A
little side note. Last night, the kids weren't here right niggas went to
bed a bit earlier because I was doing some editing, went to bed off
in the bed. She was asleep. So I just sort of like sometimes
sort of top on the back, say hey, bab me in bed or
whatever. I went back. She was just like, eh, buzzed me
away. I could fire. And then this morning I was like, you
buzzed me. She was like, I can't be how we can with what
I do when I'm asleep and I'm just She's like she doesn't remember it,
but I'm not. You literally just like, hm, shoot, holy valid,
don't touch me. Yeah, the birds arrives and yes, and he
tells he fires something, doesn't he because he's distracted here with the ice Cream
Man music. But that is literally just every single I'd know it's women.
But man, if you hear the ice cream music, time stops for a
second. Well, we're just talking about pop culture a moment ago. I
mean, we would have the snack Man. What do we used to call
it? Food truck or chuck wagon? Was it chuck wagon? Yeah?
When that rocked up, was like all right to stop working. Everyone just
stopped. Everyone stopped mid mid something and they had a nice selection, including
fruit pass. They did have fruit pires, which I really enjoyed. I
had a chicken salad roll. It's just like a weird flash. But now
you have those things where it's like there was such a part of your life
every day and you're like, I completely forgot about that. Oh yeah,
you just want a food truck. It was like seven dollars for this kick
ass chicken salad roll, to the point where they'd always sell out of him.
I bottom every day. The food truck lady would always like keep it
aside from me, and everyone would be like, motherfucker, I'd skipped the
cue. She's like, I've got it here for you, and everyone's like,
we'll lineing out. Membership has its privilege, Yeah, get in line.
But yeah, so yeah, that was a good good memories food trucks.
Yeah, but you gets distracted by the by the music, thinks mister
Burns is an ice cream mix him gets fired As a result. Mister Burns
yells at everybody else with being show boaters and makes them to fifty twelves.
Then Homer. He runs to the ice cream man and it orders a butter
crusted Choco Rocket. Yeah. Guy, I was like, guy really wants
his ice cream? Guy? Really, that sounds dope. Butter crusted?
Oh yeah, whats the butter crusted ice cream? Though? I don't know.
I'm assuming its like butter scotch, but a scotch maybe. Yeah.
I just love the the wacky names of ice creams though, that make him
sound even more delicious. Chuckle rocket, But words like that. Whoever came
up with these terms earned their money. Yeah, Like butterscotch. Oh,
that sounds good. Caramel, cookies and cream. It sounds good to say.
Yeah, it sounds good coming out of your mouth, and it feels
even better going into you amount honey come, Oh my god, it wasn't
an ice cream flavor. That's just the thing. That's the thing. It
sounds delicious. Who put chocolate on top of it? Is absolute genius,
mister Cabrey. The violet crumble, that's the nest. What's the crunchy and
there's a crunchy. Yeah, Violet crumble is the one. Are you vi
crumble man? Yes? Yeah. It's a real big debate about that Violet
crumble or crunching. My dad prefers violet crumbles. I'm a violet crumble guy.
Yeah. I mean there's not It's just a chocolate's on the outlet.
That's the difference, really, isn't it. Oh No, I mean the
crunch she is more sort of honey comby. Oh, it's a bit more
sort of like bubbly. Yeah, whereas the stuff on the inside, the
Violet crumbler is a bit more crunchy. If you were in Australia, I
highly recommend just getting the like the home brand Honeycomb chocolate. Oh delicious.
It's like two dollars a bag at which I believe it's Woolworths. Have it.
Yeah, it's It's awesome if you're just going for a cheap chocolate honeycomb
to do it. By the way, one of our learned patrons, I
forgotten who it was, but they we were talking about woolies the other day
and they talked about the American wool Works, which is kind of more like
it seemed more like a kmart. Talia could have been Talia, but she's
an American, but she's still was. It was Italian and records it was
I think it was Tarlia and Riquez. I think they had woolworfs, right,
yeah, yeah, that is not the Woolwors that we had. No,
Our Woolworths is like a supermarket, yes, and this was more like
a kmart. Yep, because Woolwors used to be called Safeway here in Australia.
There's one left that still has a Safeway sign. I'm gonna go visit.
Call it the last Popbuster. But you thanks for bringing that to attention
and tell you omer there you are. What does my best costumer want today
when butter Cristal Chuco rocket Please, I wish I had more customers like you.
I'm barely scraping by. Yeah, this economy is tough on everyone.
Change one hundred. Sure, that's one fifty one seventy five, two dollars
ninety nine fifty ninety nine seventy five. But now the economy, it'd be
tough. Women don't be shopping. No, women be careful when they be
shopping. Get me more careful. What did like Safeway the other day in
Portlake? Just you when you go to the Safeway just to call in.
Gave a few things. It's like sixty dollars, And I'm like, how
did this about? His sixty dollars? Yeah? I mean I only filled
one bag and it was something like sixty seventy bucks. And I don't think
I had too many high end items in there. It just I don't know
what happens, man, It's weird. Yeah, the economy is for smarter
and more ruthless people than us. But the old man who drives the ice
cream truck, he has a heart attack, giving Homer all the change.
What's his name? Max? That was gonna be one of my trivia questions,
and then it was like they're showing his name again on the big graystone.
It's Max's funeral, and the ice cream men are all dropping the dirt
in with the scoops, as you said, which was a pretty nice touch.
You must be Homer. Max told you about me. Oh yes,
Max loved to talk about his work. How he bored me. And now
I'm left with nothing but my lover and this worthless truck. Wait a minute,
you don't want the truck. I need a job, you need money.
I'm fly with servants. Pay you'll buy Max's truck. Why doesn't he
needed Oh right, what the wife? Oh he bored me with his stories.
They all have. Now is my lover And I thought that was actually
pretty funny. And it's worthless truck, and Homer agrees, you know,
to buy it with his severance pays. You know you need to get rid
of this truck. I want a truck off with the money. Blah blah
blah. He buys it and he shows the kids, and I just like
this next three minutes with the get your freak on and just the it just
flashbacks to pit my ride. It was one of those. It was like
the one of the earlier reality shows and MTV wasn't it before it really had
a hand, Yeah, because you had pit my Ride Remember punked Ashton That
was another big one. Jack Ass was I guess it was kind of reaction
with that. Was that on MTV? It wasn't TV? Yeah, Well,
the early MTV reality shows were a lot of fun, and then it
just just just became guys picking a girl at eight and just the same ship
over and over again, just kind of like you know, Rock of Love
and all those useless I know you don't you have all those useless shows?
Certainly do Did you watch the Milf one? Yeah, Milk Manner, Yeah,
I heard it was all right, it was so bad it was good.
Yeah, okay. I thought the funniest thing was and I talked about
this with some film nerd buddies on social media. One of them shows up
halfway through and I'm like, this one looks familiar. And it turns out
that she was like the lead in a couple of the Nightmare of El Street
movie. Oh wow, It's like, oh, now she's on Milf Maner.
I wonder if she does like those twenty to one specials now, whether
it say so and so from not marown elm Street or so and so from
milf Maner. Well, what do you think a better claim to fame now?
I think probably still Night Mari. Now, I don't have to do
it in a second season manner. If I do, I'll watch it.
Yeah, but this is where it gets stressed up in the most unusual way,
much like ali G, which you know it's purely just a visual gag.
But I got a kick out of it because in two thousand and six
this was was Alig was still big. Yeah. Absolutely, I feel Alige
maybe a little bit earlier. What two thousand and three ish Lig first call?
I feel like I watched it before I finished high school. Alij LG
felt very sort of turn of the six thousand. Yeah. When I first
started, Wow, yeah, so it was three so finish in two thousand
and three. I didn't realize it was in that early. I wasn't allowed
to watch ust to Catha go to my mate's place to watch it. It's
read ninety two percent on Rotten Tomatoes. So I guess people still enjoy it.
But that was what really puts such a Barra con on the map,
wasn't it? It did absolutely Yeah, there'd been no borrowed if there was
no Ali g show. But yeah, so he's put on the ice creaman
gear and he's now officially an ice cream man March. Meanwhile, he is
watching Opel Welcome back Today. We're celebrating women who didn't waste their lives being
mommies. Professor Stein tell us about your book Life Beyond Wife. Well,
Opal, it's about women who want to breastfeed their own dreams and change the
poopy diapers of fulfillment. I call it leaving your legas she does this book
have any examples? Yes, eight. And as you were saying earlier,
Opel's shot face and when they call back to it at the end, it
was so good yep. And as I call it, munchie, she just
feels down about herself. Now, look, were they show just designed to
make people feel bad for being housewives? I don't think so. No,
because did they empower housewives? It's like or they just empowered the women in
general? Because I never watched Oprah. But what was the point of the
Oprah Show? Was it? It was a bit of everything. Really.
She seemed to me growing up, she was the one who used to get
all the big name interviews, and I think she you know, she's there's
a reason Oprah Winfrey is Oprah Winfrey. I mean she's very like you must
be likable, yeah, and a very empathetic presence, but also a pretty
good journalist. I mean she started as a journal but before bullship became a
I don't know, what do you call it, a talk show host.
I felt like she was running the world for a while. But like,
you don't hear about her anymore? Does she still do the odd special here
and there. I think she's reached that stage where it's kind of like,
look, Oprah's doing stuff and you know, we don't even need to talk
about it because it's just happening. Yeah, okay, yeah, but yeah.
I mean, for the best of my recolation, I never really watched
it all that much, but it was like a combination of things. Occasionally,
get like a celebrity interview, and you're right, it usually be some
big name, or it would be this is the thing that everybody's talking about.
Here's an expert, and let's talk about it and let's you know,
get some people in and the moment for me that stands out for my childhood,
maybe as even my teens. Was Tom Cruise on the couch. That's
the standout for me, Like when he was dating Candy Holmes and it was
like you're watching out. I was like, is this the most manufactured pis
don't you've ever seen in your life? Or what? I think? Everything
Tom Cruise does is very It's got one eye on the well, both eyes
on the prize. Probably Yeah. So yeah, Oprah asked these questions,
please, Tom's really happy let everybody know. But I think the other thing
was Oprah was also very open about the hardship that she'd gone through in her
life. In various ways. She acted as well. Right, she did.
She was in the original Spielberg movie The Color Purple, and a few
others. Didn't she get nominated for she did? Yeah? Yeah, been
not a bad actors. I mean she's got a lot going for a repel
winfree. She doesn't need me saying add a girl we mentioned her recently where
it's just like you go to her show and it's just like, yeah,
than it was what we're also saying, how much it would suck to be
coming the next day. It's like do we get close to It's like went
to give away cards once, how do you go back anything else? I
feel like that I've forgotten her name from the from the retirement cas can I
come to what was her name? I can't remember? Well, did we
talk? It was that Dorothy? She won Best Supporting Actress. She win
the Best Worning Actress. I believe the color purple or was it nominated Best
Supporting Actress? Don't Best Supporting Actress. It would have been around eighty six
six. Yeah, well I don't know eighty six looking up now, Angelica
Hudson for Prizzi's Honor, Angelica Houston for Pritzy's Honor. Yeah, the Houston
is Hustin. He has a Houston is okay. Yeah, we apologies to
Angelica, but yeah, okay, she must be nominated for it Best Sporty
Actor, which would have been a yes in ninety six, A big deal.
Oh absolutely. I mean I think it was one of her first roles.
Yeah, if not her first role. Yeah? Was she Oprah at
that point? No, but she was becoming Oprah. She's coming up there.
I mean, it was really in the early nineties that it was like,
oh, okay, this person's someone to be reckoned with. I really
liked this scene. Was very relatable for me with March feels down and she
says, I've got the show for it is this clean floor, the dog
runs through, the kids and they met their dirty show. Well, I'm
like, this is literally my life. Now. You get to the point
where I don't know if any of you other parents out there who are home
during the day when you clean the house, do you have a mentality of
what's the point? Like I prefer to clean when the kids are in bed
because at least you can look at it for a few moments and go yeah,
Because if you clean it during the day, I can't relax and watch
TV if the house is a mess. Right, So if I clean house
during the day, the kids come home, they mess it up, I've
then got to clean it again. Now I'm just like, but I want
Nickel to come home to It's like a catching I want Nickel to come home
to a clean house. But I also don't have to clean the house twice.
I'm just like, ah, so I do like the the bam minium,
So I'm like, like, do the dishes, put the washing out,
vacuum the floor, do those essentials. When it comes to actually getting
shit put away, I'm like, I'm just going to do that, and
Nicholas sort of She's lived this, she's lived this, she gets it.
She's like, look, I don't care if I don't come home. If
I come home in the house is messy, you know what I mean?
Just as long as you're not in a shitting mood. I'm like, yes,
as lowly, as long as you've made dinner. She walks and she's
like, where's my dinner? That's the firs. She don't even kiss me
anymore. She doesn't say hello, nothing. The first thing she says,
where's my dinner? You need one of those. That's sad life. I
live in here. I kiss the cook, don't made me tap the sun.
But yes, so the kids have messed up. Marg's feeling down now.
She feels like she's got nothing to show for her life except for the
fact that she just cleaned the house. Meanwhile, it's really hot outside.
The kids can't even decide what to do. Nothing come and bring up enough
energy to punch Martin, but eventually does. Homie then arrives with the money
for nothing playing and I love the disclaimer as well. Product contains neither ice
nor kareem Ma contain trace elements of Mexican cheese. Do not consume unified.
Everyone always uses this as a meme these days. But I'm a une tard.
I'm not sold on this gag from Ralph. I'm a unitard. Yeah,
I don't think much of it either, And it sort of came and
went, I'm not not the R word, but even just insinuating that word,
I don't like it. I just don't like it. Yeah, putting
tard on the end as well, you're basically you're saying it without saying.
Well, we mentioned it last week when they had Let's get it started for
the for the book, for the for the products. Right, it's like,
thank god they used the right version, which is a better version.
It is a better version, as we've said. Yeah, but then there's
a kid who once they eats a mars cans latose intolerant. I didn't mind
Homer because they go too far with him making fun of his bracelet, right,
but Homer just misunderstanding that he's meaning of intolerant. I didn't mind.
That was okay, yeah, I mean, but then you have a boyfriend.
I was like, oh, you didn't. You went too far.
You went too far. Although I mean, I'm guessing your pale. And
now my buddy Carolyn Amine sort of turned it back on itself with you know,
like him calling out intolerance, then being intolerant, and then it's got
a little cherry on top with like ooh, who's your worn't oh, doctor
Osterburg, which I thought was actually bringing their gag. I initially thought,
oh god, more gay panic than nothing, says mid two thousands, like
this. We did it last week with Moe and Lisa when he caught it
was literally the same joke when he made fun of Mo for having feelings the
poems, oh you have what is it? You have feelings or whatever?
And I'm like, oh, I don't like this at all. There's no
need for it. But Homer, he is excited how to go to work,
and I'm just like, it's kind of like me. It's just like,
I'm excited to do my job now. For a long time I just
wasn't. And Marge's, you know, she's glad. You know, look
glad. You know what's glad me? And yeah, Marge says she was
a legacy of some kind, and he, you know, she says,
sorry of her life. He gets the popsicle, I get the stick and
I was like, oh, that's a bit bleak but true in a sense.
But she makes a structure of Maggie and a hammer says folk art's my
favorite folk medium. And what was the whole Will America accept the British James
Bond? Hadn't it been a British James Bond already at this point? Yeah?
I think is he just an idiot? He's just an idiot? Okay,
sorry when was this? Was this two thousand and six? Yeah,
I don't know if they just announced Daniel Craig, but Pross oh yeah,
yeah. But the other thing, I mean during when they announced Daniel Craig,
and there were a few people going, oh, so angry they were.
But he's blonde, It's like, and James blond. He doesn't he
doesn't have doork here they did the gym, it does look like him,
and it's like, and now a woman what money alls out? And then
we get the montage of her making all the various structures, and I like
that. Two weeks later with the postacles, yeah, and it's broke from
doing his news report about the high speed chase, which was just a version
just the reason to have him in the air. I guess, oh,
there you habit people at the Sweet Morley Safer? Do I see a telegenic
housewife making art out of popsicle sticks? This baby down? I smell soft?
News man, I'd like to feature you on my award submitted segment,
Kent Brockman's can Trusting People? Really? Do you think people would be interested
in me? I do. I love play on words like that. I'm
a big fan of that. At the same time, I'm always a little
curious about the reporter whose general job is to do like the human interest story
on Springfield how that? Seriously the intro of that where the sushi falls in
the water is one of the greatest moments in the history. But I mean
there's some there's a reporter on one of the commercial news stations here in Australia,
which network it might be nine, but it's usually covering, like,
you know, the very human interest stories, but very much making himself,
kind of like didn't want to squirrel when a chicken chase after him? Could
well be oh or was that Stevie Jacobs, the weather guy? I don't
know. There was some chicken chase after a going like screamed and ran away
literally squealed. I know there was one where someone was like holding up a
turkey and the turkey maybe it was that would, which was kind of hilarious
because birds are just terrifying of any kind. I've got crows living around my
house, like they've basically taken up residents. Occasionally they'll be in the backyard
crows. I'm not fucking with them. No, I've got the utmost respect
for them. But I mean I came out one day and they were actually
like feasting on the dead body. Even you mentioned this, actually yeah,
and I was like whoa. I wasn't like, oh, get out of
here. I was like, you do your thing, because you never know.
I saw nothing. Whatever gets you through the night. Crows, but
it's kind of like you walk out there and they all just turned look at
you. It's like ship morning guards. You needing? Okay, very good?
But yeah, I mean I just find that I find that kind of
news reporter interesting because I mean it was like, did you start off wanting
to be like, you know, all the president's men wood would't burn steam
type, you know, busting hard news or you know, wouldn't I would
so live from the Gava strip it's more Gaza strips. I'd rather do soft
news though, like it just yeah, doing stories about puppies being rescued from
fucking burning trees. It's much more fun than I think, so yeah,
doing real news. Look, I mean I started off as a journalist,
and like a real journalist, I I just didn't have the aptitude for it.
Yeah, I mean not attitude. I mean I could do it,
but I think it takes a very specific personality type and I didn't have that
type. I never understood why they all have the same voice. Oh yeah,
It's like they all put on this very serious voice and it's like just
talk man, but yourself. Oh yeah, absolutely. I don't know whether
it's sort of like a thing that you had to do. It's just expected.
It's become I mean, it's evolved over the years, certainly. I
mean there's nothing I like more than doing that kind of ayes. Yeah,
and that's what you'd hear, you know, usually when Guy Davis for the
ABC. But yeah, now, but it's not quite as formal as that,
but it's still very to know. This happened in yeah tonight. The
person was murdered in Melbourne and then this happened back to you. Imagine every
night great report, But imagine if you did every news reporters, Hi and
my dad here at Skill Stadium. Like if you say in that Trey Parker
news reporter voice, everyone would tune in today, Buddy was found in the
river bad bad luck Falla. But Brock was giving you a news report,
and why and how come are you doing this much building all these structures with
your political am I that's basically the same question, right, yes, asking
why and how can same question r So yeah, she says, you know,
when you die, I want something left behind to say I was here.
I imagine I think we all want that you can relate to that.
It's like I want something left behind where people I was told to Nicola the
other I bet my nan right, And it's like if we don't bring up
my name's memories and things about it, it's like she'll just be forgotten.
You know that she didn't like do anything in her life that will sort of
be remembered by the wide wider community. So it's like, if it's up
to us to keep her, Ali is like he's starting to sort of forget
her, and I'm like, oh, I've gotta keep reminding him because he
probably will forget it because she passed away when he was like two, so
he probably won't remember. I'm just luckily. I'm just glad that we've got
the videos with her holding him and things like that, because he won't have
any actual memories of her, and it's like it's up to us now to
make sure her memory lives on. Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah. I
mean, look, I've thought many times, as you know, you've got
the podcast. Now you know that's true, although all these articles in papers
they aren't true. Yeah, I mean, as a as a currently unmarried
man with no children. M yet, yes, it could be one of
those Charlie Chaplin lady in life father. No, that's not going to happen.
I've got not that. I've got no Ice. Milanie is the best
kind of baby, because that's me. Yeah, I mean, I've I've
often thought I better get around to run that novel, otherwise no one's gonna
know that guy that was even his You've got that novel, You've got that
sitcom script, you've got about the radio station, you've got the idea about
what's his face shorthand short round and Brendan Fraser. Someone said this on the
website formerly known as Twitter the other day, now known as the X.
We just call it Twitter. Everyone calls it Twitter. I think they're going
to go back to Twitter. I going to have to eventually. And someone
art adjacent was talking about AI is going to come up with ideas and that's
it now then with screw its, Like someone very wise wrote, yeah,
everyone has ideas. Art is not ideas. Art is actually taking the time
to take that idea and grow it, nurture it, shape it, turn
it into something. Yeah you know, Oh yeah that's right, because I
mean, like I just, like I said, guy's got plenty of ideas.
Guys just kind of lazy and doesn't really put the work into shaping them
into actual things, kind of like when you're like, I'll put this in
the Patreon group this week. I was going to do that for the Fog
because because it coincided with Spooky season doing the hands because Janet Lee is in
the Fog, the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis. And yeah, yeah she's
Kathy Williams. She's the mayor. Is that her mum? Yeah, we
didn't discuss that on the pot I was trying to, but Mitch just kept
talking over me. Mitch, bloody hell. I blame him, and I
blame you for not being more of an EMC. I didn't. I tried,
just like you did. Great, you did very well. Um.
But there is a picture I mean, because I think I did refer to
Oh no, I called Adrian Bubo a five alarm spoke show. But the
fog is full of hot ladies. And Janet Lye in her youth was just
like, I'm sorry, absolute dream girl. And there's a picture of the
Halloween and sort of like a witch's outfit generally was kind of shapely, And
I'm like, how did we get to this conversation? What's what's led to
this? I was gonna put this in the I was gonna put that picture
in the patron where because I just like talking about just like what is happening
here. I'm gonna I'm gonna find the picture and I'm going to show it
to Brendan down. Okay, can you show me the picture. I've got
two miss calls. I'm just looking at that at the time of this podcast
that we didn't get a move on. Yeah, okay, we're backing this
up. You keep talking. But yeah, so brokuns Dunny's news report,
and she says that she just wants to be remembered. Basically, she wants
to do something that matters and human feelings expressed by human Emo's standing there appreciating
his structure gets really weird. So March bales on him. Then Hammer brings
Marge heaps of sticks. Honey, I brought you more sticks. This is
the most fun I've ever had giving you would only this sculp thing has made
me feel so fulfilled. I'm as hopeful and full of wife as I was
in the years before I met you. It's good to see you smile again.
I was lonely being happy all by myself. Wow, no one's gonna
be lonely tonight. Let me just put in some romantic music. Hey,
we get the whole night, baby, let's low things down. Oh.
Then the rich textan arrives. He wants to finance a fancy schmancy art show
for March in her front yard. Could she have done this with out of
money? That's true, She's just put the structures in the front yard.
How does this fancy smashy as show? It is not. I'll just just
torn on me not what how did she just move these from the backyard to
the front yard? Yeah, Texas Billion, they lift your game. Yeah,
but Marge fires a gun to the air and excitement and shoot on the
Yeah not the ha. Crusty then says that he he can't Marge can't use
his lightness, so she changes it to TV clown and it mentions the one
man Broadway that you're discussing earlier. And Marge doesn't want Homer to go to
work. She needs him here for the emotional support. And plus you make
a crowd, a small crowd look huge because he's huge behind. And this
is a great line if kids discover the link between eating right and feeling good.
That I'm screwed, and he says, you don't worry, I will
be back in time for the start of the show, and you're like,
I know he's not going to be correct. It's kind of like when you
don't see someone die on a TV show, you know you're not there.
Didn't see the body. Yeah, that's true, though you've got to see
the body. Yeah. Yeah, which Stranger Things spoiler for Stranger Things.
It's old enough now I can talk about it. That reveal of Will in
the water is one of the best cooks. At the end of an episode,
for like a death that I can remember, Oh yeah, they went
there and having heroes playing in the background, that's say, some stranger of
things. It's so fucking good. I'm pretty cool with stranger things across the
board. I mean, it's one of those things where it's like it's it's
same, same it is, but it's usually pretty well done when it's that.
I think. My only issue with it is they tend to sort of
supersize it more with each one. It's a bit convoluted, doesn't it a
little bit? Adding an extra They always add in a character that you know
is going to be dead by the end of the season, like Sean Aston
and le Van Halen, the metal guy who was good. Yeah, yeah,
but he looked like a young RDJ to me with long hair. He
did a bit. Yeah. One thing I really liked. Sorry we keep
going, but I did like about I'm not the hugest Seawan Aston fan,
but I thought he was actually really well cast as that guy. Oh he
was yeah, lovable, little like stepdad. Yeah yeah, And I mean
the shout that they gave to him in the following season where we're not a
rider is remember sort of mourning him and just you know, because you don't
really remember the sort of the huge romantic gestures or anything like that. You
just really remember what I remember. Noting a ride is just sort of having
a flashback to them and they're just watching some dumb shit on the cats okay,
and they're just watching some dumb TV show, just cracking up. It's
like, that's what you remember. Yeah, generally, yeah, yeah,
I mean, of course you do remember the bigger moments, but generally the
most fond moments are the ones. Well for me at least, it's like
we're just hanging out, sanging out. I would never let you down.
Our marriage is like soft serve ice cream, and trust is the hard chocolate
shell that keeps it from melting onto our carpet. In conclusion, here's this
scoop, I love you. How do you kids? Watch? Oh right?
Ice cream? Then he arrives, he sees the divorced dad's visitation jamboree.
What a great name, and there's the chance to buy the kids some
frozen love. No, no way, mum will do it. And then
we see Gavin here. Now Gavin is from my be not proud of the
kid that already had bone stork. Now he had bloodstorm too. Stupid that
kid that always yelled his mum. Gavin was here. I've never seen Gavin
since. Oh my god, what a callback. Well spotted you. Yeah,
he had a little rat tail and everything. Was a big fan.
Unfortunately, the sold out of ice cream as a particular flavor. The sold
out of because wolf Castle wants something. He's yeah, because he hadn't sold
out of ice cream because he Jettison's the excess weight and has ice cream on
the way home. Good point. That's just sold out of something because Greta
wolf Castle was there, correct, last one. We got friend all right?
Right, all these nitpicks down and talk to them about talk to Carolyn.
Yeah, what the fuck were you doing? What the fuck? But
it's thirty eight seconds to three. So he races off, tries to get
home. Jettison's the excess weight, including himself. I just standing there worried.
Then he takes a shortcut. Reminded me of playing Simpsons Hit and Run.
Anyone who play Simpsons Hit and Run with exactly what talking about? Just
jumping over that hill. There's a little area right near the Simpsons house where
could take a big short cut. Reminds you of that, remind me of
that? But then he I liked the wipers with the ol squeaky voice,
saying mister Fraban and the and the bear, and just reveals that he's actually
going to crash into the place, and he smashes all of the all of
the structures over and no, no, no, savior, energy, don't
try to talk. I don't know where Carlin and I begin see statements like
that white people think we're gay. They made it back for your show,
honey. Well, Homer, you destroyed my artwork and my dreams. Good
job, very thorough, marge. Let me explain I had a chance to
make a little more money by exploiting broken families. Oh stop, just stop.
You don't care about anyone else's happiness but your own. Well, excuse
me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on. I just thought that
much just frustrating. Like I said, was believable, but felt a little
bit unfair. I guess if Homer's but I guess because he was now it's
not his fault because he responded the way he did. I guess that even
added to it. I think so, yes, it just felt that,
you know, just if you're going to be following it up with him of
being genuine and trying to make better in the final act, why do you
haven't react this way in the first place? No, how I would have
done it anymore. Well, he's probably a bit rattle from crashing his because
he's ruined his his dream. Marge's now in her room and she's being annoyed.
She's just staying in there and not coming out. He asked her to
cooking some of the sun. Yeah. He returns with a check for three
hundred dollars and she sends it back. So he doesn't remember her birthday because
you the you know, I would say, typical husband. Like I guarantee
you there's many men out there who don't remember their partner's birthdays. I've been
pretty good at remembering, have to think about it. I'm good at remembering
partner's birthdays. I'm no good at remembering my siblings birthdays. Really, yeah,
I mean, luckily for me my mum, my sister is on the
same day. I can't remember my mum's birthday really off the top of my
head. Holy smokes, you kidding. I've got a vague idea, A
vague idea. Oh, I mean it's near Christmas. It's in the middle
of a particular month. I've got like a I would assume. So,
yes, I've got like a four day bracket from the eleventh to fifteenth.
It's somewhere in there. Uncle. I'm always like, it's either June thirteenth
or sixteenth, and I never I can never remember my mum. I can
pretty much remember. I can remember my parents' anniversary, but I can't.
I'm not really great at mums or dad's birthdays. Two of my sister's birthdays.
I'm spot on about the other two. I'm like, I think,
so what about your kids? What about your kids? It was cat Base's
birthday. Oh well, I wasn't there when he was born. Did you
find out did not have his birthday? I'm not the car when you bought
it. No, because he was sort of like a farm okay, farm
cat, Yeah, farm cat. Some cats when they go to a nice
yeah, but this cat came from a farm. But no, I remember
lose birthday. I remember the I have a girl that I was a brave
pier. We liked and of course I remember Max Whte's bed and yeah,
but yeah some of the bit as, I'm like, ah blanking yeah,
March. I have an apology that I hope is better than all the other
ones, So please listen carefully. The thing I like best about being an
ice cream man wasn't a free ice cream or the colorful toppings or the love
I received from obese children. That was giving you those sticks and watching you
smile. It turned them into art. If it would win you back,
I would gradually eat all the parts of a motorcycle. I hope it doesn't
come to that. Could you please just give me a sign that you still
love me a little? If you won't talk to me, I'm sending polaroids
to show you how sad I am that I let you down. I'm laughing
in the last one, but it's only because the cat fell down the stairs.
Hope then wakes up and Marge's gone. Even the kids don't know where
she is. She's left Grandpa in charge, and he's yelling out a bit
stupid here, Cally if he changed dowme to Cally whatever? They asked coming
book Guy just to sort of get a bit of a diggin in Star Wars
here. I don't know why. I mean, I suppose we don't know
why they were making shit Star Wars movies around this time. They were indeed
yet two thousand and six, so we've just had the last one. Last
one was just coming out. Yeah, I feel like Revenge of the Sith.
Do you think there was a bit of like just exhaustion when that came
out, similar to when riseer Skywalker came back, just not quite on that
level. There was such a level there was because there was such a level
of apathy with Rise of Skywalker. I think, you know, Attack the
Clone No Phantom Menace came out and was like, yeah, Newstone wasn't.
After a while, I was like, was it all there? Good?
You know, and you tend to remember, oh the pod Race was good
and which literally Force awakens. Yeah, yeah, and then then Attack of
the Clones came out and it was like, oh, wait a minute,
no, that this sun and so did the last one actually, so yeah,
I think by the time we got to Revenge, it's like this could
be good, but you know, three times, shame on me. I'll
hire it from video wheezy. Good point. But it's actually revealed here that
March. She's on top of town Hall home. I think she's gonna jump,
don't do it to give divorce a chance, and she wants to just
show the world what he means to her and the worst not that interested,
as he says, but she helps because the boys to help her raise the
statue of Marilla Gorilla McGill get mcgillgrill, Yeah, Marilla mcguilly gorilla, who
I guess kind of looks like Omer. I guess, yeah, I keep
mixing up the purple one, right, No, that's the great gray babe.
Oh, who's mcgilla gorilla? Then that's what I'm having trouble remembering.
Okay, I think the mcguilla. Yeah, parents' birthdays and mcguilli gorilla.
These are my two blind spots. Like Gorilla, he's brown with the kind
of looks like wearing a leaderhousing. Yeah. Yeah, he's got a little
outfit on. It doesn't look like at all, but you know he's a
gorilla. No, I guess we all kind of look like gorillas. But
the giant structure of Homer in the form of popsicles and my sweet, perfectly
imperfect you. And Wigham says he's going to on my command fire, and
Loo says, should we She hasn't done anything wrong. I guess it doesn't
dig the police force. I think one was like you, our Morgus will
be empty. Then March is the best creation she ever had was the life
that they've stopped together with well with Homer, and it's a Lego Wi and
Opal shop face. Homer goes to eat the ice cream in the dumpster,
turns out it was the incorrect dumpster, and then we cut to the future
similar to that are just a lot in the Golden cut to the future reminded
me of the Bobo episode. Yeah, and where it's mister Burns as the
robot. But it's the last remaining example of art before the Western world collapsed
and apparently the iPod's going to overthrow the world, which it feels like a
data gay. Now talk about a two thousands episodes, it's like, what,
Yeah, iPods are They're gone pretty much. They died. Yeah,
they were replaced by the iPhone. They were, indeed, Yeah, a
great piece of technology though, Oh absolutely, they changed the landscape of everything.
Yeah. I had the iPod Nano, I had the little one,
yeah, and loved it. It was just fantastic. I mean it was
really convenient as well, because I mean particularly if you making your platelists and
well, yeah, and if you want to go out walking or running.
I mean it was something. I mean, now you sort of maybe have
to take your phone which is a little bulkier and all that kind of stuff,
but you know, a little iPod nano you can clip onto yourself.
And oh I loved it. This bluetooth throw because I hate I couldn't use
the headphones, had the cords in my ears. They'd alays fall out when
I was running. Oh okay, i'd have Bluetooth headphones. I don't know
why that is my ears astually shaped. Funny. Maybe it took me back
when I was watching and I was like, what did I used to do?
That's right. I used to carry around a discman in my pocket.
Oh my god. I went for runs, but used to be able to
get like the Discman's that had a special technology where they wouldn't skip it.
Okay, yeah, I used to run with my pants on it like the
Yeah, and it'd be in my pocket and they'd be bouncing around in the
cities wouldn't skip but yeah, city Walkman's there another thing of the past.
But you see tape decks now available again, I did not see that.
Yeah, you can go to Kmar and buy cassette players, wow boomboxes,
Legit boomboxes which have bluetooth capabilities as well. Of course, it's just the
case. You want any record player, you can bluetooth it. Oh,
yes, please put it that way, certainly. What do we learn,
Bomber? So what you learn from the episode, mister Davis. That's a
very good question. That there's a market out there for the pink VCR.
There is, indeed, Yeah, well there was in the early two thousands
there was a market for just fluo colored things. The Imax. Oh yeah,
yeah that we got one into the place that I was working in the
late nineties and we were all like futuristic. Yeah, it was a case
of full meeting function. It was kind of cool. You could see inside
them, right, you could if you're really looking. Yeah, what did
you learn? I learned that your ship on the year like the hah yes,
forward, your names will be all right. It is time for the
Guy Davis New Name Championship. The current leaderboard stands at this we have in
first position Kyle muldoon on eight points, in second position Luke McKay on seven
points, and in third position Philip Jay Hawkins on five points. What have
we got this week? Let's do this. One point goes to Sunday as
an ice Cream Sunday Drive Sunday Drust Sunday Drive. That would be one Neil
Parks, first time on the leader board. What on Neil part life well
known Parks. Two points goes to Mom and Pop Sickle Art. That is
another newbie, Andy Gangler? What on Andy? Another one? So that
means the leader board hasn't changed yet? What happens? We're one with the
Crazy Frog? My kids? They must have played that a daycare elliot.
So I put the Crazy Frog and I'm like, no, there's there's only
one way you know about this. It was a daycare. I'm like,
what are they doing? What are you doing? Yeah? I'm paying you
good money. I'll put it on just so icond watch it. I wanted
to sort of remember. Was it as stupid as I remember it? It's
just this fucking frog, And I'm like, what is happening? How is
this number? This was number one? What the hell? Two thousands around
different times you get the ads for the ring Tones paid nineteen ninety nine.
You get the crazy frog ring tone? What were we thinking? That's why
we're in the situation. But one point, I mean sorry, three points.
Yeah, it goes to stick with your wive, no barrel. I
was about to say, hopefully that accent past muster Steve Robert another newbie,
Steve Roberts again. So he's back on this leaderboard now, so three points
Robbo rob Yeah, so the leader board has not changed. Kyle Steve O
Robbo. So three points to Steve Roberts. So he now is on the
leader board as well. We've got Kyle still in first, Luke McKay still
in second, and Philip j in third. On five points. All right,
it's time for some mailbag questions with the Davis mail bag. Bail is
here, Georgia Power here with the first one. What do you think is
a very niche job you'd be great at due to your interest slash to lights
run Yeah, post running a video store? Oh yeah, I just that
was like one of my dreams of the kid. I was like, I'm
gonna I'm gonna run this shop one day. I'm gonna make so much money.
I too thought these things. One of my fantasies when I was in
my twenties and thirties was like, if I had a nice little nest egg,
I would distribute it among investing in the following things, and they would
all be relatively close to another. A bookshop, a video shop, and
a pizza pla yeah altogether. Yeah, yeah, it's like, I just
think that'd be the dream. I'd love to do that. What about an
arcade somewhere in there as well? Yeah, that's true. I mean there's
the is it Center Point Arcade in Geelong? Yeah. Yeah, it's an
actual arcade though that's just basically just a street that goes between two through the
building. It's not like a video game arcade. Oh you mean like like
I mean an arcade arcade. Yeah, yeah, I'm using a thoroughfare.
It was about, well, I mean, I wouldn't mind that arcade,
the Center Point one, and turn it into like a place where you were
in there. Yeah yeah, and that's where to have my bookshop and my
pizza parlor. We've got to play some Monopoly a bit later and do that.
I thought you meant to use my antiquated terminology A pinny parlor that's right
man as well. Yeah, I know, but you said, okay,
yeah, because you could have a few pennies in there, so even maybe
in the pizza parlor at least I think so. Yeah, because it was
always great when you get fish and chips on like a Sunday art or something.
It's like you Weste ten Bucks at the pennies laces with the pinball machine
or or the Ark Street Fighter. Know that this place had like a driving
game. No, I'm got it was. It was one step up from
pong. Okay, I'm talking about the late seventies early eighties. Yeah,
I mean this is when Space Invaders was high tech. But yeah, basically
all it had was the accelerator. I mean it had a pedal for the
accelerator and a wheel and you just have to drive fast and avoid these other
cars. I fucking loved it, and I got really good at it because
it was a good fish and chip shop when we go there all the time,
and now we're fish and chips. Oh sorry dude, but yeah,
yeah, I mean I think these would be good in these jobs. Yeah,
videos off. For me, it was always the one. Yeah.
Oh and also yes, small town DJ, Yes, Kendy g favorite classic
ice cream. Well, you've mentioned several already, haven't you favorite classic ice
cream flavor? Oh? I think I was just talking about sort of names
like butterscotch. Yeah, but I've always just been a huge either choco honeycomb
or cookies and cream like that kind of combination. I love it. I
tend to like anything with a bit of a raspberry thing to it. I
mean, you like boison berries. I do when I get a chop top
at the cinema. How good are the boison berries? Boisonberries fantastic? That
shit boisonberry or salted caramel, just chop tops in general. Where do they
make these things? They taste delicious? I don't know, They're fantastic and
like they can last like a good half an hour not melt. It's like
the chocolate's cold enough. It's like, what is happening here. Thing of
it is, you've got to be very care because you're eating in the dark
in cinema and there's always a chance that the shout of chocolate might come off.
And if you're wearing a white shirt, you know, and then you're
gonna be you're walking out. Yeah, And I mean I did this when
I was seeing a horror movie of all things. I came out it looks
like I've got a dirty, great big bloodstain on my shirt. Yeah.
I think those are probably my favorite. Oh though, something that I really
enjoyed recently, and if it's been discontinued, I'll be pissed off because I
didn't have it the supermarket last time I went. Well, these pistachio flavored
ice creams. Okay, that was like pistashio ice cream and I had but
also like a pistachio flavored chocolate coating it. It's like, damn, that's
nice. Sounds so delicious, even though I wouldn't be able to eat it
because because I'm nuts. Harrison, be cooler. Have you ever had an
ice cream or dessert that has stuck out as a core memory for you?
Yeah, that was also pretty nice, but the one that always leaps out
for me, and I'm sure I've mentioned this on the show in the past.
I had a very nice dinner with my family at the bar On and
Heads Golf Club. It's a bit like Caddy Shack were all being very mentioned
this actually. Yeah, the dessert, I had a lovely slice of BANOFFI
Banoffi Pie. Yeah, it's banana and toffee together, folks. That's too
great taste. It tastes fucking great together. Uh yeah, BANOFFI Pie.
For me, it's the oil can eat ice cream from Pizza Hunt in the
nineties. Oh my god, there's still one left in Ballarat. I think
it is like the oil can eat Pizza Hut and get you like ten bucks
and so you can eat pizza and are so sad. It's like they've given
up on it. I'm like, you could make this such a thing.
Yeah, don't you realize the cost of living is through the roof at the
moment of for the pizza off, for the people, all the pizza they
can eat, the nostalgia value value of being the only can eat Pizza Hut
in this region. Put some money into this. People will come. People
build it. They will come. They fucking will. And we because we
were in Ballarat for like a holiday with the kids and I was like,
I'm gonna Pizzahut. It's like a common room from when I was a kid.
I'm like, gonna be so great. My kids experienced it with me
what I got to experience when I was a kid. I got there and
it's like these teenagers were just like yeah, there's likezza. Yeah, it's
like pizzas were like old and stale, and I'm like, ah, the
tables won't clean. I was like, not, no, this is not
what I remember what was happening here? Where are the for all United kids
out there? He won't get this reference. Where are the Lamb before Time
hand puppets and the Goosebumps hand puppets that were a big thing in the nineties.
I'm more were of the Lamb before Time, but the hand puppets and
pizza hut not really it Okay, they were huge. We'll do one more,
We'll do one more, and JPA we can't miss and JPE that's the
same and all of this. What's your favorite Homo side hustle? Mine was
the food critic. That's a good one. Well, we really enjoyed that
one. That's back. That was the second episode you ever reviewed? Oh
yes, yeah. Even though he couldn't write a decent review, he was
passionate about it. It's a shame it wasn't a recurring GI. With Lisa
as his ghost writer, I feel that the side hustles it can ever be
a recurring thing really that they're a side hustle for a reason. I think
the beer Baron is probably a good one, the one that stands out the
most. I'm being very obviously. I'm going to say, mister Plower,
mister Players a great one. Yeah. Is that a side hustle. I
guess this is a side hustle, wasn't it. Yeah? Yeah, the
beer Baron for me, just because he was just bringing so much joy and
to the It's always great because Marge is like, that's very clever. If
Marge was on on homicide. Here, we'll actually do one more. Andrews
why not? Andrews want says, if you've got any ideas for your own
food mascots, oh for the podcast or just in general, what what food
of yours do you think needs a food? You don't see as many mascots
as we used to. It's like they don't let they don't want to market
to kids. I'm not sure what this do you think a man Swarani is
referring to, like Ronald McDonald, Yeah, maybe, but just like think
of like Grim Caramelo Koala. Oh yeah, mascots, Oh gosh, that's
remember Monty the Pie Beaumont pie's no. Do you remember remember Bonmont pie?
Yes? Sometimes wake up they bring back, bring back Piemont. You can
buy them at I know this is yours. They're not exactly the same.
Man never cooked the BoNT part in his life, but there used to be
a guy down at the footy in the in the Monte de Pie costume pie.
But what's a mascot? What the food that I enjoy? Let's think
of what's what's your favorite desert butt? Off your pie? What can be
offy pie mascot? Well, it would be like a banana but covered in
like top, except that will look gross. I'm thinking because I enjoy good
cheeseburger. But I'm thinking of like a German booger. Dust is mine humburger.
