Official Saturday Night Main Event Review, A Look Ahead to The Royal Rumble

<v Speaker 2>welcome to the ww podcast. After that Saturday Night Main
<v Speaker 2>Event show and seems to be about what we expected,
<v Speaker 2>many of you aren't really surprised by the outcomes, and
<v Speaker 2>it's again a kind of a show that mimicked the
<v Speaker 2>last one. Not a lot of surprises. I think some
<v Speaker 2>quality wrestling in there, some fun moments, but ultimately it
<v Speaker 2>was exactly what we had imagined that Saturday Night Main
<v Speaker 2>Event would be, and that's not a complaint. Saturday Night
<v Speaker 2>Main Event is establishing its identity as a something in
<v Speaker 2>between a pl E and a typical televised show, one
<v Speaker 2>that has title matches on it, although most telebus shows
<v Speaker 2>do unfortunately too, but one that also has quality matches,
<v Speaker 2>longer matches, fewer matches, which really follows the same template
<v Speaker 2>as a regular ple E, except not a lot of
<v Speaker 2>returns or big angles. It's just a continuation of what's
<v Speaker 2>going on. It feels much like a stop gap in
<v Speaker 2>the way to an actual ple e and with the
<v Speaker 2>Royal Rumble six days away, this did feel very much
<v Speaker 2>just like a in some ways a big promotion for
<v Speaker 2>the Rumble, especially with the Ko Cody segment that had
<v Speaker 2>Shawn Michael's there, which I mean even that segment, while
<v Speaker 2>it wasn't wrestling heavy was it wasn't anything that was
<v Speaker 2>earth shattering either. Having Shawn Michaels there in San Antonio
<v Speaker 2>did make sense given he's from San Antonio and having
<v Speaker 2>him be the hometown favorite or hometown you know, hometown hero,
<v Speaker 2>but was was fine for Kevind Owen to be able
<v Speaker 2>to play off of. And we'll get into that segment
<v Speaker 2>a little bit later too. So as we get into
<v Speaker 2>Rumbles season or really get into the Rumble itself in
<v Speaker 2>just under a week, man, it's gonna be so much fun.

<v Speaker 2>Let's talk about Saturday night's main event as again, come
<v Speaker 2>comes to you from San Antonio, and the show started
<v Speaker 2>off with a shot of the building and jay Uso
<v Speaker 2>shown walking backstage, gun Through shown walking another part of
<v Speaker 2>the building, and then we have a Jesse Ventura and
<v Speaker 2>Joe Testitur check in from a platform that was on
<v Speaker 2>the main floor. So Jesse Ventura seems to be maybe
<v Speaker 2>a main stay from here on out. And we have
<v Speaker 2>Ria Ripley versus Nya Jacks for the Women's World Championship. Boy,
<v Speaker 2>this was okay, nine minutes and twenty five seconds. This match,
<v Speaker 2>to me, I would say might have been maybe Nia
<v Speaker 2>Jacks's best match ever now of course, I haven't seen
<v Speaker 2>her untelevised show. On non televised matches, I haven't seen
<v Speaker 2>maybe every single matches she sat on television, although the
<v Speaker 2>majority of them. I think this may have been Nia
<v Speaker 2>Jacks's best match. Now you have a lot of that
<v Speaker 2>to thank for Rha, who is one of the stronger
<v Speaker 2>women in the company, and she's able to maneuver the
<v Speaker 2>body weight of Naya Jacks a little bit better than most,
<v Speaker 2>So her matches are going to be a little bit
<v Speaker 2>different than if she was safe facing. I mean, heck,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know liv Morgan right, A little bit different dynamic,
<v Speaker 2>so that certainly helps. But they work so well together.
<v Speaker 2>If Ria and Nya were to continue the program, I
<v Speaker 2>really wouldn't be sad about it. I don't think they are.
<v Speaker 2>But this was a fun match. Now that the outcome
<v Speaker 2>was ever in doubt or who was gonna win, that
<v Speaker 2>was never something I was worried about. But this was
<v Speaker 2>a nine minute and twenty five minute match that I
<v Speaker 2>think elevated both women. Despite the fact Nya lost, she
<v Speaker 2>was elevated in this. So let's go through some of it.
<v Speaker 2>We have ninety seconds in Jax hit the Samoan dropped
<v Speaker 2>from the middle rope and covered Ripley for a two count,
<v Speaker 2>and then Jack's avoided a prism lock and put Ripley
<v Speaker 2>down with the Uranagi slam. Ripley went up for riptide,
<v Speaker 2>but she collapsed under the weight of Naya Jacks, and
<v Speaker 2>then we have it led to a one count. By
<v Speaker 2>the way Jackson went back to the ropes, hit the annihilator,
<v Speaker 2>went and then back to the rope for another and
<v Speaker 2>played to the crowd, which allowed Rhea to sneak under
<v Speaker 2>her and hit the electric chair slam and then hit riptide,
<v Speaker 2>which it was as good of her riptide as you
<v Speaker 2>could have expected given the body weight of Nijacks. Who
<v Speaker 2>is I mean, if she's got to be pushing to
<v Speaker 2>seventy to sixty, I mean she's just my guess to
<v Speaker 2>fifty to sixty somewhere in that range. So she's in
<v Speaker 2>a lot of cases double the weight of the women.
<v Speaker 2>Ripley obviously is not over the two hundred and fifty mark,
<v Speaker 2>but she is certainly much stronger, which again helps out
<v Speaker 2>with the dynamic here and having Ria Ripley also only
<v Speaker 2>use one finish that's original that boy, isn't it nice
<v Speaker 2>when one finish ends the match for at least riptide
<v Speaker 2>being protected. So you know, applause to both women here.
<v Speaker 2>I think it was well done. All right. We then
<v Speaker 2>have Shamus, Seamus and bron Breaker for the Intercontinental title.
<v Speaker 2>Both men ended up at ringside. Seamus ran jumped off
<v Speaker 2>the steps and was speared by Breaker a few minutes
<v Speaker 2>into the match. That's got to hurt me. There's no
<v Speaker 2>way to do that and not make it a hurt.
<v Speaker 2>There's just no way. How can you do that? So
<v Speaker 2>damn you knew, you knew this is going to be
<v Speaker 2>a very physical match, and boy was it was. This
<v Speaker 2>was fun. So Ventura complained that the referee counted to
<v Speaker 2>three and then saw the foot on the rope. This
<v Speaker 2>is as Breaker put his foot on the bottom rope
<v Speaker 2>from the brogue kick. That was a fun false finish.
<v Speaker 2>Seamus set up for a bro kick again, but was
<v Speaker 2>it was selling the ribs and then moments later, Breaker
<v Speaker 2>speared and pinned Shamus in eleven and a half minutes
<v Speaker 2>to retain the Intercontinental title. I thought this match was
<v Speaker 2>actually gonna be a little bit longer. Fifteen minutes, sixteen minutes,
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't seem like that much longer. What the heck's
<v Speaker 2>five more minutes, but in wrestling land, five minutes as
<v Speaker 2>it can be an eternity. And I think these two
<v Speaker 2>did a really nice job putting together a match that
<v Speaker 2>they could in eleven minutes. Breaker has kind of fallen
<v Speaker 2>off a little bit in recent weeks, and it was
<v Speaker 2>nice to get him bad back on the you know,
<v Speaker 2>in the minds of fans, and same with Seamus who
<v Speaker 2>has been just kind of there and Legacy Star floating
<v Speaker 2>around still doing good and having really good matches, and
<v Speaker 2>having him back and having these two work togethers is fun.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if they're going to be, you know,
<v Speaker 2>colliding again, I don't think so. It should be at
<v Speaker 2>this point all hands on deck for the Royal Rumble.
<v Speaker 2>All focus should be on the Royal Rumble. That to
<v Speaker 2>me is where they're headed. I don't know though, if
<v Speaker 2>the Intercontinental Championship is going to be on the line
<v Speaker 2>at the Royal Rumble. I'll have to check on that
<v Speaker 2>if there's any kind of, you know, any kind of
<v Speaker 2>changes there from what I'm seeing. And I'm going to
<v Speaker 2>look at the card here, So yeah, we do have
<v Speaker 2>Cody Rhads obviously, Kevin Owens for the latter match, the
<v Speaker 2>Men's Royal Rumble, the Women's Worry of Rumble. We do
<v Speaker 2>have the only other match, which is the Tag Team
<v Speaker 2>Championships DIY versus MotorCity Machine Guns and a two out
<v Speaker 2>of three falls match. That's it. Sure, some matches could
<v Speaker 2>be added tomorrow night on Raw. You could have a
<v Speaker 2>last minute match be put together on SmackDown. You could
<v Speaker 2>I guess the night before, although I wouldn't advise it,
<v Speaker 2>given there's not a lot of hype, but this could
<v Speaker 2>end up being your final card. There may not be
<v Speaker 2>anything else. So the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship
<v Speaker 2>of which has really gone in hiding since Shinsky took it.
<v Speaker 2>They've also done that the Shinsky when he was Intercontinental
<v Speaker 2>Champion a number of years ago. I don't know what
<v Speaker 2>it is. I mean, when Shinsky gets a belt, they
<v Speaker 2>don't do anything with them. They just given the belt
<v Speaker 2>and they're like, hey, you know, at a boy, we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna you know, we're gonna keep you off TV for
<v Speaker 2>several weeks or put you on TV with meaningless programs.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what the hell it is. And Shinsk
<v Speaker 2>came back as this dark character and then Win's the
<v Speaker 2>US title, and now he's just like, you know, kind
<v Speaker 2>of a it's weird. I mean again, not that he's
<v Speaker 2>totally absent from TV, but just he doesn't feel important.
<v Speaker 2>So we also have Logan Paul returning. I'm sure he'll
<v Speaker 2>enter the Rumble, but those are the only matches. So
<v Speaker 2>we have one, two, three, four matches. That's it. Granted,
<v Speaker 2>the Women's and Men's World Rumble matches themselves take up
<v Speaker 2>an hour plus plus you know video packages. You're looking
<v Speaker 2>at a total when all is said and done for
<v Speaker 2>Men's and Women's Royal Rumbo matches, probably like two and
<v Speaker 2>a half hours total. So there's two and a half
<v Speaker 2>hours you had Kevin and Cody, there's twenty twenty five minutes.
<v Speaker 2>There's nearly three the DIY that might take ten twelve
<v Speaker 2>fifteen minutes. So even if they keep this as is given,
<v Speaker 2>there's only four matches and two matches that aren't the
<v Speaker 2>Rumble matches. Time wise, it kind of fits. And I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if they'll add anything. They probably won't, and
<v Speaker 2>that's okay. I'm fine with that given the time. I'm
<v Speaker 2>all for shorter pls. All right, So ventur rambling about
<v Speaker 2>the match. After the match about the referee making a
<v Speaker 2>three count was kind of distracting by the way. I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if I didn't really like it, but Shawn
<v Speaker 2>Michaels comes out and the crowd loved it and stood
<v Speaker 2>in the ring for the contract signing. And always good
<v Speaker 2>to see HBK. It's always, it's always, it's always a
<v Speaker 2>fun time. Anytime HBK is on TV. It doesn't happen often.
<v Speaker 2>You gotta appreciate it if you don't watch NXT especially,
<v Speaker 2>it's always just I mean, it's twenty twenty five and
<v Speaker 2>we're still watching Sweet Chin Music be delivered on our televisions.
<v Speaker 2>It's rare, but it's incredible that it's still happening. It's incredible.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I was They're twelve years old when I
<v Speaker 2>started watching wrestling and I saw Sweet Chin Music, him
<v Speaker 2>and Brett Hart, him and the Undertaker, him and Triple
<v Speaker 2>H whoever go down the line. So I was twelve
<v Speaker 2>years old. Now I'm almost forty and I'm still watching
<v Speaker 2>Sweet Chin Music on my television. It's incredible. He's not
<v Speaker 2>in matches. I understand that, but I don't know a
<v Speaker 2>little bit of a connect. Everybody's got their own personal
<v Speaker 2>connection to wrestling and what it meant to them and
<v Speaker 2>everything else, but kind of kind of crazy, but so
<v Speaker 2>Kevin Owens was introduced by Shawn Michaels. Owens comes out
<v Speaker 2>wearing a Cody Sucks Eggs T shirt, which was it's
<v Speaker 2>just great he brought the Winged Eagle Championship, and Cody
<v Speaker 2>Rhodes comes out, mister, you know, mister company, you know,
<v Speaker 2>miss they might as well just surgically insert a w
<v Speaker 2>W flag in his ass. I mean, that's how much
<v Speaker 2>he waives the banner of the company unapologetically, which I
<v Speaker 2>understand you have to do, but he does it so
<v Speaker 2>overtly and sickeningly. It's really part of a lot of
<v Speaker 2>what turns me off from him is he's so you know,
<v Speaker 2>he's so worried about the company and being so nice
<v Speaker 2>to everyone. He even helped the referee who was struggling
<v Speaker 2>a little bit to put the belts on the hangar
<v Speaker 2>in front of the ladder, Like he's so helpful and
<v Speaker 2>he's not like most champions, and he's trying to humanize
<v Speaker 2>himself and does like I don't know just everything about mister.
<v Speaker 2>He starts so slow, and he talks and he likes
<v Speaker 2>to do this, and I don't know he's so produced.
<v Speaker 2>I understand that promo's generally the talent know what they're
<v Speaker 2>going to say before they go out, but he comes
<v Speaker 2>across like a WWE production. He doesn't come across like
<v Speaker 2>an authentic, in your face, kick your ass champion that
<v Speaker 2>I can relate to. I don't get it, guys. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I understand his talent in the ring. I get all that.
<v Speaker 2>I'll stop there. See, I'm stopping myself. I'm all for
<v Speaker 2>him turning heel. I'll continue to say that every time
<v Speaker 2>I'm on the show. I will continue to say that
<v Speaker 2>Cody has a heel. Is very intriguing to me. I
<v Speaker 2>think we'll see it, not soon, but we'll see it.
<v Speaker 2>So Michael's then told men both meant to be seated,
<v Speaker 2>and they were locking eyes, and Cody signed the contract.
<v Speaker 2>Owens looked at the contract and then took the mic
<v Speaker 2>and said Cody pissed him off on SmackDown when he
<v Speaker 2>said he always takes the easy way out, and Owen
<v Speaker 2>said he could have done that by taking Cody's knee
<v Speaker 2>at Bash in Berlin, but he didn't because he cared
<v Speaker 2>about their friendship more than Cody did, and Cody said,
<v Speaker 2>you know, you need to focus on who you'll defend
<v Speaker 2>the championship against at WrestleMania, and Cody asked Owens to
<v Speaker 2>sign the contract. Owens teased, but dropped the pen and
<v Speaker 2>grabbed the mic, and Owen said he'll shut everyone up
<v Speaker 2>with the rumble when he wins the championship. And once
<v Speaker 2>he does everything that Cody's been getting, like the pyro
<v Speaker 2>and the face on all the production trucks and everything
<v Speaker 2>that's going to go to him. Owen said he deserved
<v Speaker 2>it for the last ten years and he'll be taking
<v Speaker 2>that from Cody Rhoads and HBK said, Kevin, you sound jealous,
<v Speaker 2>and Owens asked him to repeat what he said, and
<v Speaker 2>Michael said, you know you seem jealous, and that's when
<v Speaker 2>Owens started to target Michaels and said he's just like Cody.
<v Speaker 2>When things got tough, he quit. Owen said he'd be
<v Speaker 2>bringing more pride to the Wing Eagle Championship than he
<v Speaker 2>than HBK ever did. That was a nice line. Owen
<v Speaker 2>said he'll give the fans a champion they can be
<v Speaker 2>proud of, not someone who loses his smile. Owens then
<v Speaker 2>signed the contract. Michael said the only thing left to
<v Speaker 2>do was take the belts, put them above the ring,
<v Speaker 2>and Michael's wish both men good luck. Owens declined to handshake.
<v Speaker 2>Michaels extended his hand to Cody, who shook it, I mean,
<v Speaker 2>and then Cody was hit with a cheap shot by Owens,
<v Speaker 2>so Michael's scolded. Owens turned around. Owen spun Michaels towards him,
<v Speaker 2>kicked him and set him up for a package pile driver,
<v Speaker 2>and Cody super kicked Owens before he could execute the move,
<v Speaker 2>and then Michael's hits music. Here's what I'll say is
<v Speaker 2>it was there any thought put into the fact that
<v Speaker 2>you're going you are going to completely just mock Shawn
<v Speaker 2>Michael's finish right before he delivers his finish, the sweet
<v Speaker 2>chin music that used to mean so much when you
<v Speaker 2>get kicked in the jaw that happens forty six times
<v Speaker 2>a show now in every match that everyone does all
<v Speaker 2>the time, which is a lot of times not even
<v Speaker 2>used as a false finish. It's just used as like
<v Speaker 2>it has less effect than a punch. You see it
<v Speaker 2>almost no soult half the time. And then you use
<v Speaker 2>that move from Cody right before Shawn delivers his which
<v Speaker 2>apparently has a superhuman he has a superhuman kick. You know,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, I don't know what it is so
<v Speaker 2>kind of funny that Cody hit the superkick, which is
<v Speaker 2>symbolic of how overused and completely prostituted the sweet Chin
<v Speaker 2>music move has been finish, has been over the last
<v Speaker 2>ten years. And then you have Sean deliver it, which
<v Speaker 2>actually used to mean something. So anyway, Shawn hits sweetchey music,
<v Speaker 2>which again not a complaint, certainly fun to see sweet
<v Speaker 2>chip Music's I always find that move extremely funny, or
<v Speaker 2>at least I used to. So Owens gets kicked out
<v Speaker 2>of the ring and is left humiliated. All right, so
<v Speaker 2>fun fun segment, and you know it's it's gonna be
<v Speaker 2>a fun match him and Cody at the rumble. It's
<v Speaker 2>gonna be I think, a very long match. I expect
<v Speaker 2>this match with Cody and Owens to last again twenty minutes,
<v Speaker 2>twenty low twenties, and it deserves it. This program has
<v Speaker 2>been very well done. I have to give it to
<v Speaker 2>both men, especially Cody. I'm sorry Kevin Owens. Despite the
<v Speaker 2>fact that Kevin Owens is once again, for the unpteenth time,
<v Speaker 2>finding himself in a position where fans are saying, yeah, fun,
<v Speaker 2>we know you're ultimately not going to win, but fun, cool,
<v Speaker 2>you're having a blast. You know That's and it continues
<v Speaker 2>to be the position that Kevin is in. He is
<v Speaker 2>either fighting a champion that just won the championship or
<v Speaker 2>they're heading into WrestleMania where you know they're not going
<v Speaker 2>to put the belt on Kevin. So the only chance
<v Speaker 2>of Kevin ever winning a belt is seemingly at like SummerSlam,
<v Speaker 2>kind of in the middle right, because they just don't
<v Speaker 2>seemingly ever want to put Kevin in the top top position. Now,
<v Speaker 2>is this latest success going to change their minds? I
<v Speaker 2>don't think so. Kevin shown he can be a top guy.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, like he could be the guy if they
<v Speaker 2>wanted to put him in that position. But they've anointed
<v Speaker 2>Cody and the fans have agreed and concurred and really
<v Speaker 2>forced the issue last year, and now you have Kevin
<v Speaker 2>Owens in a position that you know, he's having so
<v Speaker 2>much success and really I think carrying the brunt of
<v Speaker 2>this program in terms of getting the credit for its success.
<v Speaker 2>Cody absolutely should get credit to him not belittling his part.
<v Speaker 2>You know, he does this all his typical quality promos,
<v Speaker 2>and you know he's acting like the stand up champion.
<v Speaker 2>He's playing a very i gotta say, boring albeit successful.
<v Speaker 2>So what do I know, babyface, that the fans somehow continue.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, is there some kind of potion that is
<v Speaker 2>given by the gate attendees on upon entry into ww
<v Speaker 2>events where there's some kind of magic dust that everyone
<v Speaker 2>is inhaling. Are they putting something maybe in the HVAC
<v Speaker 2>system that's this unknown substance that just magically mesmerizes people
<v Speaker 2>from For Cody Rhodes, is there some what is it?
<v Speaker 2>You can't tell me? This guy's relatable? What is it
<v Speaker 2>about him that's relatable? He lost someone? Okay, we all have, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>all of us have. That's not unique. It's not unique
<v Speaker 2>to Cody Rhoads. Cody Roads is a guy that lost
<v Speaker 2>his dad. Okay, a lot of us haven't lost our dads.
<v Speaker 2>Some of us have, Like Okay, the bleach blonde hair
<v Speaker 2>outside of n SYNC from two thousand and one, no
<v Speaker 2>one does that anymore. I'm not saying it's a bad
<v Speaker 2>look for him, It's just that's not relatable. We most
<v Speaker 2>of us don't wear suits all day, right, most of
<v Speaker 2>us don't wear suits seemingly in our sleep like Cody
<v Speaker 2>Rhodes does. I just I don't know what. He has
<v Speaker 2>a dog that he likes to bring around every once
<v Speaker 2>in a while that we're supposed to just ooh and
<v Speaker 2>awe at that. Wow he has a dog. I have
<v Speaker 2>a dog. Wow, this guy's cool? Is it literally that elementary?
<v Speaker 2>I don't understand it. I'm actually trying to, without emotion,
<v Speaker 2>break down the psychology of why people like Cody Rhodes.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. I just I don't get it. He's
<v Speaker 2>really good in the ring, but so are a lot
<v Speaker 2>of other guys. I mean, really, there's nobody that's bad
<v Speaker 2>in the ring, do you know what I mean? There's
<v Speaker 2>nobody on the roster that you'd go, oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>they're horrible. That doesn't exist anymore. It's a prerequisite that
<v Speaker 2>you are. You're capable of four to five star matches.
<v Speaker 2>Not that you deliver it all the time, but you're
<v Speaker 2>capable of it if you don't wrestle that certain type
<v Speaker 2>of wrestling anymore. Like today, the way that the really
<v Speaker 2>I would refer to it as like a gymnastics infused
<v Speaker 2>style of professional wrestling where less selling, more registering, more
<v Speaker 2>high flying, faster, which I don't like, but that's the
<v Speaker 2>style today and it is what it is. Like that's
<v Speaker 2>if you can't do that, you're not going to be
<v Speaker 2>on TV. So it doesn't impress me that he's good
<v Speaker 2>in the ring. He is very good in the ring,
<v Speaker 2>and I think he's even better than most, but even
<v Speaker 2>at baseline where the people who aren't as good as
<v Speaker 2>him are still really good, So that I just I
<v Speaker 2>don't get it. I don't understand it. I'm really truly
<v Speaker 2>perplexed by this how people are cheering for him outside
<v Speaker 2>of this program with Kevin Owens too. By the way,
<v Speaker 2>what program has Cody Roads been involved in that has
<v Speaker 2>really grabbed you since he won at WrestleMania forty? What's
<v Speaker 2>another one to tell me? Somebody tell me solo? I mean,
<v Speaker 2>what's a program that Cody's been to me? Up until
<v Speaker 2>this point? For Cody Rhoads, it's been kind of a

<v Speaker 2>It's like, Okay, he's there, nothing really inspiring, nothing that
<v Speaker 2>makes you feel like he's pushing forward. He just kind
<v Speaker 2>of flat lined after he won. Granted he flat lined
<v Speaker 2>at a high level of success, no doubt. Again, just
<v Speaker 2>somehow you guys have continued, and I say you guys
<v Speaker 2>as the collective, those of you that support Cody in
<v Speaker 2>terms of this character. But I don't know. I've been
<v Speaker 2>uninspired up until lately, and that's mostly due to Kevin Owens.
<v Speaker 2>So that's why I'm giving him most of the credit,
<v Speaker 2>because it feels like he's been the combination for Cody
<v Speaker 2>that has really ignited his character a little bit from
<v Speaker 2>an otherwise slumber since April of twenty four. That's how
<v Speaker 2>it would categorize his run. It's just been kind of
<v Speaker 2>a slumber, a hibernation, like not going not a tank,
<v Speaker 2>not a roller coaster ride, just there and you know,
<v Speaker 2>you kind of kind of go to sleep. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, that's how I felt. Now. Is it
<v Speaker 2>a little bit in fluenced of course by my dislike
<v Speaker 2>for his character. Probably not gonna pretend otherwise, but I
<v Speaker 2>don't know. All right, let's continue on before I go
<v Speaker 2>in circles Fatu and Stroman, this match Okay, let's talk
<v Speaker 2>about this. Nine minutes. I actually thought I called nine minutes,
<v Speaker 2>but I said, maybe they'll do more and they didn't.
<v Speaker 2>But nine minutes is about right when you think about it,
<v Speaker 2>given them the style of these two, and it ended
<v Speaker 2>with Stroman beating Fatu by disqualification in nine minutes. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>this is clearly a finish that tells you that this
<v Speaker 2>program's not over. And I think the fans loved it.
<v Speaker 2>And what did I tell you? There'll be a lot
<v Speaker 2>of Fatu chance and what would we get? Bam. I'm
<v Speaker 2>not saying I am nostrodamus when it comes to pro wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>I'm certainly not. I'm wrong more than I'm right. But
<v Speaker 2>you kind of can see the writing on the wall here.
<v Speaker 2>Fans have sniffed out a potential future big star. And
<v Speaker 2>when they do that, even if you're a heel, they
<v Speaker 2>want to get behind you. They want to be on
<v Speaker 2>the ground floor. They want to be able to say
<v Speaker 2>that you know, they're a part of something. They see
<v Speaker 2>something and it's new. Like tATu, He's had a presence
<v Speaker 2>since day one with the bloodline. Since he came in.
<v Speaker 2>He felt bigger almost than Solo. In some ways. So
<v Speaker 2>you know, I have no issue here with how it ended.
<v Speaker 2>And I feel like Stroman it's been kind of involved
<v Speaker 2>in this same just same kind of programs as of LA.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you saw the same thing with Bronson Reid,
<v Speaker 2>who I hope, by the way, makes his return at
<v Speaker 2>the Rumble. We'll see it is. I do miss Bronson Reid.
<v Speaker 2>He was really on a role there, so hopefully he'll
<v Speaker 2>be an entrant a surprise return at the Rumble. But
<v Speaker 2>it feels like a Stroman Bronson Reid, except even more
<v Speaker 2>violent with the internal bleeding and the moon salts, which
<v Speaker 2>he's just, my god, he's so good at. And I
<v Speaker 2>also like how Fatu, much in the way Kevin Owens's
<v Speaker 2>body is, is not your typical, you know, carved out
<v Speaker 2>of stone physique. You know that's uh, that's not what
<v Speaker 2>we got here. I mean that Fatu is a guy
<v Speaker 2>that if you took off his shirt, I mean, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you kind of know what's under there, but who cares.
<v Speaker 2>I like that, you know the appearance of Fatu feels
<v Speaker 2>more organic that he's not chiseled out of stone. Guys
<v Speaker 2>like that can oftentimes make it not all the time.
<v Speaker 2>You see some stars that are just I mean, go down,
<v Speaker 2>Liz Hogan, Savage Rock, Austin, Triple h they've all been
<v Speaker 2>I mean, look at their physiques and their prime My god,
<v Speaker 2>but it's nice when you see these physiques every once
<v Speaker 2>in a while. It's a nice change of pace. I'm
<v Speaker 2>not saying that's his whole that's the reason for his success,
<v Speaker 2>but it's part of the whole package. He feels like
<v Speaker 2>a killer, a total killer. They have put him over
<v Speaker 2>in a way that when's the last time he saw
<v Speaker 2>bron Stroman get handled like that? I mean, bloody Bronze Stroman.
<v Speaker 2>It was just awesome. The hip attacks were kind of weak,
<v Speaker 2>I have to say, the six hip attacks me, I
<v Speaker 2>mean kind of laying there. Not all of them looked good,
<v Speaker 2>but Cole played up that Stroman didn't know where he was.
<v Speaker 2>The referees checked on Stroman, blocked Fratu from hitting another
<v Speaker 2>hip attack, and then Fatu tossed the referee out of
<v Speaker 2>the ring and hit two more. The referee called for
<v Speaker 2>the bell and then Fatu grabbed a chair. Security ran
<v Speaker 2>out through the Shatu threw a chair at the head
<v Speaker 2>of security and then Nick. All this producers and security
<v Speaker 2>guards entered the ring Stroman had blood coming out of
<v Speaker 2>his mouth and was down. He shoved the producers. Tomatanga
<v Speaker 2>backed Fatu in the corner. I mean, medics came down.
<v Speaker 2>Fatu kept coming back. This was this was obviously not
<v Speaker 2>about wins and losses. This was about Jacob Fatu and
<v Speaker 2>establishing who and what he is and what he's capable
<v Speaker 2>of moving forward. That's what this is. That's what this
<v Speaker 2>was about. And is he gonna be world champion in
<v Speaker 2>twenty twenty five? Probably not this year, I don't think,
<v Speaker 2>But I mean, is he already not a front runner
<v Speaker 2>for maybe the twenty twenty six Royal rumble? I know
<v Speaker 2>it's a year ahead, but given the booking and how
<v Speaker 2>things are building and who's likely to be champion over
<v Speaker 2>the next year and WrestleMania title changes, Fatu could absolutely
<v Speaker 2>be in our Continental US title holder for the next
<v Speaker 2>at WRESTLEMANI he could win, but I'm saying the top
<v Speaker 2>belts are probably reserved for him in twenty twenty six
<v Speaker 2>if things continue on this traject So not easy to
<v Speaker 2>continue on this trajectory either. It's kind of a this
<v Speaker 2>is this thing's burning hot with Fatu right now. But
<v Speaker 2>if I was we and rightfully so they should check
<v Speaker 2>to see what's real here? Is this real? Is this
<v Speaker 2>a real How long is this going to last from
<v Speaker 2>the crowd because oftentimes fans get on, yeah, they lose
<v Speaker 2>their attention, their attention span is you know, given today's culture,
<v Speaker 2>our attention spans are very low with everything technology and
<v Speaker 2>news constantly in your face, and that goes against a
<v Speaker 2>lot of times being able to continually support someone in wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>I think because you have to pay attention to that person,
<v Speaker 2>you don't want to you trying to resist moving on
<v Speaker 2>to the next shiny object, the next new guy. So
<v Speaker 2>w WE is probably going to test fans as we
<v Speaker 2>move forward to see is this just the shiny new
<v Speaker 2>object syndrome or is this a true connection that they're
<v Speaker 2>growing with Fatu in and they're going to find out.
<v Speaker 2>So don't expect him to win the world title anytime soon.
<v Speaker 2>I see us title. Sure, that's in, that's in the
<v Speaker 2>discussion for WrestleMania for him. But expect Stroman and Fatua
<v Speaker 2>just I mean, continue this. It's gonna be fun, all right.
<v Speaker 2>So we then have Gunther and jay Usso this match
<v Speaker 2>sixteen minutes forty seconds. We know the outcome here with
<v Speaker 2>Gunther winning. But we already knew that, didn't we We
<v Speaker 2>knew that, We knew that was coming. We knew Gunther
<v Speaker 2>wasn't gonna lose here. It was about elevating Jay in
<v Speaker 2>a loss, and I think they did that. I think that,
<v Speaker 2>but also, you know, having a decisive win for Gunther,
<v Speaker 2>and I think they achieved that too. I still would
<v Speaker 2>actually like to have Gunther more dominant than he is.
<v Speaker 2>I don't need every champion being taken to the limit
<v Speaker 2>by their opponent all the time. I understand that that
<v Speaker 2>helps the loser win in the loss, if you if
<v Speaker 2>you know what I mean, But there are times when
<v Speaker 2>you just need to put over the champion and do
<v Speaker 2>it in a way that is not a squash, but
<v Speaker 2>it's very dominant looking, you know, remind people would that
<v Speaker 2>person's capable of. And I think Gunther needs a couple
<v Speaker 2>of those matches in the coming weeks. Now, Yes, Roy
<v Speaker 2>Rumble's coming, I understand. Uh you know, when you when
<v Speaker 2>you look at the Rumble, it doesn't appear he has
<v Speaker 2>any kind of uh any any entrance in the well.
<v Speaker 2>He may have an entry in the Rumble, but he
<v Speaker 2>doesn't have a match for the world title. But there's
<v Speaker 2>no chance he's gonna win. There's no chance he's gonna
<v Speaker 2>win the rumble. If Gunther's in it, he'll be there
<v Speaker 2>for spots and moments and stare downs for other, uh
<v Speaker 2>you know, opponents. But if he is able to get
<v Speaker 2>into the rumble, there's just there's just no chance. I've
<v Speaker 2>been winning obviously, given his position already as world champion. Anyway,
<v Speaker 2>So this was a really good match. Both men traded blows.
<v Speaker 2>At the beginning. We have Jay run off an offense
<v Speaker 2>that had a hip attack a two count Gunther back
<v Speaker 2>to his feet. He then joined Jay on the ropes
<v Speaker 2>for a superplex. Jay blocked it. Jay then slipped under
<v Speaker 2>Gunther and then executed to sit down power bomb for
<v Speaker 2>a near fall. Gunther kicked Jay and the gut went
<v Speaker 2>for a power bomb, but Jay took him down with
<v Speaker 2>a Hurricane rana. Jay speared Gunther and covered him for
<v Speaker 2>a near fall. Jay waited for Gunther then to stand up,
<v Speaker 2>superkicked him, and he speared Gunther again and hit him
<v Speaker 2>with a Nuso splash. And that was your moment, right,
<v Speaker 2>that's your moment, And even admittedly myself, there was a small,
<v Speaker 2>very small, infintesticly infinitesimally. I have to say that slowly
<v Speaker 2>otherwise I'll sound like a fool, A very small piece
<v Speaker 2>of me that believed maybe I don't know right, that's
<v Speaker 2>what I'm looking for. That's all I look for. That
<v Speaker 2>was all the expectation I had for that match. Could
<v Speaker 2>they give me that just small moment in time where
<v Speaker 2>I thought, wait, wait, wait, I don't know, it's probably
<v Speaker 2>not gonna be, but you don't know. That's all I
<v Speaker 2>was asking for, and they gave it to me with
<v Speaker 2>that moment. Now, what would really help those moments is
<v Speaker 2>if you don't have kickouts of finishes for a long time. Yes,
<v Speaker 2>we had a kickout of a finish here with Gunter
<v Speaker 2>kicking out, but gun there is a monster of a competitor.
<v Speaker 2>He's a guy that I would be like, okay with
<v Speaker 2>it doing that. But if just generally there wasn't this
<v Speaker 2>culture of pro wrestling where there's always kickouts of every
<v Speaker 2>finish all the time, multiple times per match, it would
<v Speaker 2>have meant even more that Gunther kicked out. But see
<v Speaker 2>how we're losing out of everyone kicking out of finishes
<v Speaker 2>all the time. When a moment like this happens. It's again,
<v Speaker 2>it's expected, it doesn't surprise you, doesn't have the impact
<v Speaker 2>it could have if wwe would go back to establishing
<v Speaker 2>finishes as effing finishes. So but nonetheless still a good moment,
<v Speaker 2>and Jay went for another spirit Gunther counted it power bomb.
<v Speaker 2>Another power bomb covered him. One, two, three, good main
<v Speaker 2>event here Again, nobody really believed. I don't think Jay
<v Speaker 2>could win here. The most important thing is here. Not
<v Speaker 2>only is a Gunther, it's the time of year. There's
<v Speaker 2>no chance here, Jay. Sorry, it would make no sense
<v Speaker 2>storyline wise, but it definitely elevated Jay. He continues to
<v Speaker 2>be his story. When he finally wins, it will be
<v Speaker 2>that he's been in many championship matches, he hasn't been
<v Speaker 2>able to quite get over the hump. He hasn't been
<v Speaker 2>able to win the big one. That'll be his narrative
<v Speaker 2>going into whatever championship match he's finally actually going to win.
<v Speaker 2>You know, that'll be the story. This will be one
<v Speaker 2>of the items in that video package that'll play when
<v Speaker 2>you have Jay leading I don't know again whoever. It's
<v Speaker 2>going to be that he finally wins it. It from
<v Speaker 2>this will be that narrative, right, it'll it'll play into
<v Speaker 2>it that he yeah, he just can't win, He goes
<v Speaker 2>so close, he just can't win, and then he'll win
<v Speaker 2>that night. So look out for that package whenever it

<v Speaker 2>don't have those kinds of quality, you know, a championship
<v Speaker 2>matches at house shows. It again, I still put it
<v Speaker 2>in between a house show, I'm sorry, a televised event
<v Speaker 2>in a pl not quite pl but a little bit
<v Speaker 2>above a house show, or i'm sorry, above a house
<v Speaker 2>show above a televised event, kind of in that middle
<v Speaker 2>ground that grays it in gray area. So all right, Well,
<v Speaker 2>I didn't really talk about SmackDown that much. I'll talk
<v Speaker 2>about it a little bit, since you know, you had
<v Speaker 2>SmackDown Friday, Saturday Night made events Saturday Sunday Saturday obviously,
<v Speaker 2>and then tomorrow nights were also bing bang boom, a
<v Speaker 2>lot of wrestling coming, and then my god, you have SmackDown,
<v Speaker 2>you have n XT, then you have Roal Rumble. The
<v Speaker 2>amount of wrestling content is just insane that they're going
<v Speaker 2>to be putting out over the next seven days. So,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I saw the promo from Cody on Kevin Owens,
<v Speaker 2>and we already talked about that a little bit from
<v Speaker 2>Saturday night main event. But let's see, we had Motor
<v Speaker 2>City Machine Guns beat pretty deadly in nine and a
<v Speaker 2>half minutes. We had Chelsea Green and Piper Niven take
<v Speaker 2>on Meechen and b Fab. In three and a half minutes,
<v Speaker 2>we had Meechin and b Fab beat Chelsea Green and
<v Speaker 2>Piper Niven. Carmelo Hayes was in Nick Aldus's office and
<v Speaker 2>waiting for the new acquisition to smack down. Damian Priest
<v Speaker 2>is that new guy. So that's that. We had a
<v Speaker 2>let's see here, I'm not gonna go through everything you

<v Speaker 2>on our Saturday morning show that we posted so all right, Ray, Ripley,
<v Speaker 2>Naomi and Bianca took on Naya Live and Candaelray and

<v Speaker 2>beat Bianca, Naomi and Rhea. And it's the finish was
<v Speaker 2>Bianca hitting the Ray with the kod Live rolled up
<v Speaker 2>Bianca with a crucifix pin for the victory. So fine, uh,
<v Speaker 2>I did watch. I didn't watch all of it. I
<v Speaker 2>have to say I watched the last five minutes fun

<v Speaker 2>women's tag team matches, putting, you know, for enemies in
<v Speaker 2>tag teams, potential future enemies. And it was also probably
<v Speaker 2>the latter here future enemies of Bianca and Rhea. Seeing
<v Speaker 2>those two, please tell me, you guys see maybe the
<v Speaker 2>writing on the wall here Bianca and Rhea WrestleMania. It's
<v Speaker 2>it's how we've not done this yet. Both women are healthy,
<v Speaker 2>both women need opponents. It has to be bel Air
<v Speaker 2>winning the rumble. I really believe that now there are
<v Speaker 2>multiple paths on the way to the main event of
<v Speaker 2>WrestleMania for the women and men. But Beyanca winning I
<v Speaker 2>think would it would solidify her back in the minds
<v Speaker 2>of fans instantly. It would be a statement they're all
<v Speaker 2>about they love their statements. Well here it'd be a
<v Speaker 2>big one, a statement to the fans. Hey, Bianca Belair
<v Speaker 2>is back. She's out of tag team the Tag Team division,
<v Speaker 2>and she's in a singles role where she freaking belongs,
<v Speaker 2>and she is in a great position to win it
<v Speaker 2>and face Rya Ripley. I think it's just it's perfect. Nay, yes,
<v Speaker 2>you have her returning Charlotte. I haven't really talked much
<v Speaker 2>about her. I'm gonna go in a minute here, but
<v Speaker 2>sure you have Charlotte. You have some other big names
<v Speaker 2>in there. But I don't think, as many of us
<v Speaker 2>have said many times, Charlotte, even though she's been gone
<v Speaker 2>for five and a half years now, she doesn't need
<v Speaker 2>to win the belt. Nobody wants her to win the belt.
<v Speaker 2>And what we saw in the promo video on SmackDown,
<v Speaker 2>I said this in my x feed, which, by the way,
<v Speaker 2>follow me at the w podcast. She left with the
<v Speaker 2>knee injury, and she came back with the new face,
<v Speaker 2>and she was out forever. Well, now we know why
<v Speaker 2>she was out forever. It could have been a combination
<v Speaker 2>of things, right, she could have just Wns must have
<v Speaker 2>maybe not have might not have had creative for her.
<v Speaker 2>She could have just been enjoying her time off. But
<v Speaker 2>more than likely it wasn't just her knee. Her knee
<v Speaker 2>probably healed within two weeks of her surgery. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>she she healed seemingly so damn fast based on I'm
<v Speaker 2>not a you know, a physical therapist, not a doctor,
<v Speaker 2>but she looked like she was progressing incredibly quick just
<v Speaker 2>two weeks after her surgery. And I'm thinking, oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>she's gonna make a record recovery, a record you know,
<v Speaker 2>record time back. And it was just month after month
<v Speaker 2>after month of me predicting she's coming back, she's coming back.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, what did they do? Give her an amput
<v Speaker 2>you know, give her a you know, did they amputate
<v Speaker 2>her leg and give her a prosthetic? That's what I
<v Speaker 2>was saying on the show. You guys heard me, Well, no,
<v Speaker 2>that wasn't the case. They were working on another part
<v Speaker 2>of her body that really I didn't think needed any
<v Speaker 2>And that was her face now here where. I'm sure

<v Speaker 2>you're a public figure, a public figure, and you willingly
<v Speaker 2>put public videos and pictures out on social media that
<v Speaker 2>millions of people can see, you automatically assume the risk
<v Speaker 2>of criticism. You just do. You may not like it,
<v Speaker 2>but that's what you assume automatically, whether or not you
<v Speaker 2>overtly say that you do. It's in a unspoken contract
<v Speaker 2>when you do this. So she doesn't look right. Now,
<v Speaker 2>she's done lip fillers, and you can tell she's done
<v Speaker 2>a little botox here and there. This was like a facelift.
<v Speaker 2>I feel like she's taking cues from Texas Chainsaw Massacre,
<v Speaker 2>like carved off someone's face and then just stitched it
<v Speaker 2>on hers. I'm not saying she did they did a
<v Speaker 2>butcher job. I'm not even saying it looks like horrific,
<v Speaker 2>like I can't look at her. I'm not saying it
<v Speaker 2>even looks funny. I'm not. She just doesn't look right,
<v Speaker 2>she doesn't look natural. And I'm sure you know she
<v Speaker 2>doesn't care about that. Obviously, she spent a lot of
<v Speaker 2>money and to do whatever she's doing. But I'll say
<v Speaker 2>this just generally, no one that has ever gotten any
<v Speaker 2>facial work done to make them look younger, ever looks
<v Speaker 2>better because it never seems authentic. Ever, I don't care.
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't matter what celebrity pays for the best plastic
<v Speaker 2>surgeon in the world. It never ever ever looks right. Never,
<v Speaker 2>it looks phony. It's it's distracting. It never comes out
<v Speaker 2>the way that you hope it does if you're the patient. Again,
<v Speaker 2>this is me in my own opinions. This is just
<v Speaker 2>a general statement. I haven't seen anyone, and we've all
<v Speaker 2>seen thousands of photos of people altering their their you know,
<v Speaker 2>faces and breasts or whatever. Faces though are different. It
<v Speaker 2>just can't mess with it and make it look naturally younger.
<v Speaker 2>You can't do it. You look at it instantly, you go, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>something that that's not right, that's fake, Like we all
<v Speaker 2>know as people. We just look at it. Yeah, there's
<v Speaker 2>a lot of work done. Yet they pay hundreds of
<v Speaker 2>thousands of dollars in some cases to get this work
<v Speaker 2>done that everyone's going to know looks like there was
<v Speaker 2>work done. I just I don't know. I understand. Look
<v Speaker 2>at her body. I don't care. You want to alter
<v Speaker 2>your face look fine, but you can't expect me if
<v Speaker 2>I have an opinion about it. To only say something
<v Speaker 2>nice about it, I don't like it, doesn't diminish her
<v Speaker 2>in ring ability or her legacy. No, she's one of
<v Speaker 2>the greatest women's champions of all time. She came form
<v Speaker 2>one of the greatest wrestling families of all time. She
<v Speaker 2>is a wrestling legend in the women's division, no question.
<v Speaker 2>She could retire today and she's in the Hall of
<v Speaker 2>Fame instantly bam. But every time I see her, she's
<v Speaker 2>got more and more work done. And you know she
<v Speaker 2>wants to continue to try to appear younger than by Hey,
<v Speaker 2>do whatever you want. I don't care. Like nobody wants
<v Speaker 2>to age gracefully anymore. There's this fear of aging that
<v Speaker 2>is overtaking our culture generally. This is a probably a
<v Speaker 2>topic for another show, but just I will say, without
<v Speaker 2>going too off the rails of not talking about wrestling,
<v Speaker 2>this fear of aging is it's unfortunate. It's it's manifesting
<v Speaker 2>itself in Charlotte Flair and I I just it's just
<v Speaker 2>not my it's not my thing, not my I don't
<v Speaker 2>like it, but what the hell? So she's coming back,
<v Speaker 2>So there there's a there's something you guys can take
<v Speaker 2>and run with and comment on Spotify and whatever like

<v Speaker 2>the scope of wrestling, right in terms of wrestling, she's
<v Speaker 2>not young anymore, and there's no need to have the
<v Speaker 2>company be put on her back. I think she's going
<v Speaker 2>to play a Roman reign schedule, and she should, you know,
<v Speaker 2>especially if she's gonna be a babyface. You don't want
<v Speaker 2>to see her all the time because fans will organically
<v Speaker 2>turn on Charlotte. It's built into our DNA to not
<v Speaker 2>like Charlotte because she's she plays the heel much better.
<v Speaker 2>And so I think that you're gonna have her get
<v Speaker 2>a goot a good reaction upon return. Maybe sure if
<v Speaker 2>she's if she's revealed as Jade's attacker, fine, we'll play
<v Speaker 2>along Jade versus Charlotte WrestleMania. If they want to go there, cool, Fine,
<v Speaker 2>I'm down, you know, but I don't need her in
<v Speaker 2>the championship match. The moment that they put Charlotte in
<v Speaker 2>a championship picture is when fans start to go they've
<v Speaker 2>grown a matter how long they've spent she's spent away
<v Speaker 2>from it, she's held it so long that it doesn't
<v Speaker 2>matter how long she hasn't held it anymore. Fans will
<v Speaker 2>just go, oh God, here we go, like, that's just
<v Speaker 2>what wall do. That's how much she held it before.
<v Speaker 2>It feels like, at least from our perception, when she's
<v Speaker 2>a fourteen time Women's champion or something around, there a lot.
<v Speaker 2>It's a lot of Charlotte as champion and a lot
<v Speaker 2>of Charlotte being injected into championship matches for big pls
<v Speaker 2>as champion or challenging for a championship for many years.
<v Speaker 2>So when you tally all that up together, it's just
<v Speaker 2>it's I'd keep her out of the championship picture. You
<v Speaker 2>can tease it, but don't go there, unless unless your
<v Speaker 2>goal is to turn her heel, in which case maybe
<v Speaker 2>they go there and they want her heel. But even
<v Speaker 2>if that's the case, I would not put Charlotte Flair
<v Speaker 2>in as a heel champion because we've been there, done that.
<v Speaker 2>A lot of fans will say they're bored with it
<v Speaker 2>right off the bat, you know, I do believe that.
<v Speaker 2>So it's a young woman's game. It's the young man's game.
<v Speaker 2>It is. You have big stars come in and they
<v Speaker 2>have their fun and they you know, like big stars.
<v Speaker 2>I have nothing against that, but in terms of the
<v Speaker 2>day to day grind and who they're going to put
<v Speaker 2>their weight of the company on, it's not going to
<v Speaker 2>be the older men and women. It just should and
<v Speaker 2>it shouldn't be. It's just the business. Nothing wrong with that.
<v Speaker 2>So Charlotte Flair will be back, hopefully on a part
<v Speaker 2>time basis, and you know, or at least whoever is
<v Speaker 2>playing Charlotte will be back on a part time basis.
