<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Games Mornings with Me Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 1>your host from GiantBomb dot com. Thank you for tuning in. <v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're going to be talking about multiple <v Speaker 1>switch to games, leaking early, and what's the hold up <v Speaker 1>with GTA six on PC. Specifically, this is gonna be <v Speaker 1>a good one because we have Jason Fonelli on the show. <v Speaker 2>Jason, how are you doing? <v Speaker 3>I'm doing great. I thought we were gonna do this <v Speaker 3>later in the week, but things got mixed up. Happy <v Speaker 3>to be here on a Wednesday, said Friday, I much <v Speaker 3>said Friday on Wednesday? <v Speaker 4>You know, why not? <v Speaker 3>Why not start the weekend early? Y'all everyone take off <v Speaker 3>the next two days. You have my permission send your <v Speaker 3>bluff to me. Friday on a Wednesday. Yeah, feeling pretty good. <v Speaker 3>We are really in a busy time here in house <v Speaker 3>finee with the my theater group, which I'm repping today <v Speaker 3>as many ways as possible. We open on Friday. Little <v Speaker 3>kiddo has her first ever role. She splits it so <v Speaker 3>she doesn't actually go till Saturday, tonight being the final rehearsal. <v Speaker 3>I had our twelve hour marathon on Sunday where I <v Speaker 3>fell off the stage. We talked about that earlier. I'm <v Speaker 3>feeling better. I didn't actually hurt myself. It was more <v Speaker 3>adrenaline than anything else. But like I Pragmata earlier this week, <v Speaker 3>I interviewed, I interviewed, I interviewed Pragmata. <v Speaker 4>Jesus. <v Speaker 3>I reviewed Pragmata for MMORPG. Thought that was really cool. <v Speaker 3>But unfortunately everyone's calling it a dad game. It's not <v Speaker 3>quite a dad game. There's another way to put it. <v Speaker 3>It's a little bit different. But I think where they. <v Speaker 1>Revealed their game different thing. It's a fatherhood game. I <v Speaker 1>wouldn't even I don't know about you. <v Speaker 3>Tell me maybe maybe there's a word I would use, <v Speaker 3>But the embargo details cut us off after a certain point, <v Speaker 3>and I think the point where he reveals this thing <v Speaker 3>about himself is after that point. So I'm hesitant to <v Speaker 3>say it until the full embargo is up. <v Speaker 2>Got it? <v Speaker 4>Let me play embargo so maybe Friday. <v Speaker 3>I think somebody is gonna write about it on Friday, <v Speaker 3>so I'll link to that and talk about what I'm <v Speaker 3>talking about there. <v Speaker 4>Correct. <v Speaker 3>I really really enjoyed it. The hacking was good, the <v Speaker 3>shooting was good. The relationship between the Hugh and Diana <v Speaker 3>is wonderful. The first time she ran up to me, Hey, Hugh, <v Speaker 3>I did something for you and drew a picture. I <v Speaker 3>was like, I have experienced this in my real life <v Speaker 3>hundreds of times and it never gets old, and the <v Speaker 3>feeling is exactly the same. <v Speaker 4>Love the hell out of that mouse. <v Speaker 3>I also played a little bit of mouse. Haven't quite <v Speaker 3>beaten that one yet. Really liked the vibe, really liked <v Speaker 3>the old school shooter feel. But I just need to <v Speaker 3>get more time into that one too. <v Speaker 4>Yeah. Busy, busy, busy time. How you do. How you <v Speaker 4>holding up there? Jeff? <v Speaker 2>Doing good? Yeah? Yeah. My robot lawnmower saga has been <v Speaker 2>ongoing again. I kind of got it working now. <v Speaker 1>That was good, but I discovered the problem, which was <v Speaker 1>the thing I was most worried about. The two batteries <v Speaker 1>that were in there completely shot. So I spent all <v Speaker 1>evening yesterday getting that going to a certain degree. I <v Speaker 1>have one battery in there now, which means it doesn't <v Speaker 1>run nearly as long as as I would like. Still <v Speaker 1>working to get that fixed, but yeah, that's been my <v Speaker 1>evening right now. Because the grass just popped out of <v Speaker 1>the ground like crazy. The second A guy a little <v Speaker 1>bit warm, just crazy. <v Speaker 3>Same, it's a jungle out there. I lose my dogs. <v Speaker 3>I have small dogs. I can't see them in some <v Speaker 3>of the patches. <v Speaker 4>Shure. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, so I got that figured out. But yeah, I <v Speaker 1>was playing some mouse pi as well. I think it's uh, <v Speaker 1>it's it's not a bad game. <v Speaker 2>It's I just it's not fully clicking for me. As all. <v Speaker 1>You know, it's a it's a boomer shooter, and the <v Speaker 1>boomer shooter parts are pretty good, and then the game <v Speaker 1>kind of plays everything else pretty straight, and I don't know, <v Speaker 1>I'm just not getting onto the same wavelength that as that. <v Speaker 4>I mean, that's part of it. <v Speaker 3>I have to I have to untrain myself to aim, <v Speaker 3>which is weird, like I want to aim down the <v Speaker 3>sites that I can't do that. But also real quick, <v Speaker 3>just with my chat before you cant started pragmata for <v Speaker 3>a second, look at me chats, look at me and <v Speaker 3>my eyeballs. <v Speaker 4>It is not a Mega Man game. Okay, it is not. <v Speaker 2>I am sorry, but that's what someone would say if <v Speaker 2>it was a Mega. <v Speaker 4>I am sorry. It is not. That's it anyway, right, Sorry. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, I'm chat's still not going to believe you <v Speaker 1>absolutely but yeah, you know, I think. <v Speaker 2>I don't think there are head shots in mouse PI. <v Speaker 1>I was shooting the characters in the head and shoot <v Speaker 1>them in the body, and it felt like it always <v Speaker 1>took the same amount of hits, which is weird for <v Speaker 1>the type of game it's trying to be at this point. <v Speaker 3>And it's also weird that there are different animations for <v Speaker 3>if you do shoot them in the head, their head <v Speaker 3>can explode, but it doesn't do any more damage. You're <v Speaker 3>right about it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, interested just yeah, So that didn't feel great <v Speaker 1>to me. Maybe that's where all of my problems emerge from. <v Speaker 1>But we'll see. All right, let's get into this show, <v Speaker 1>and that means let's explain what we do here. <v Speaker 2>We're Giant Bomb. <v Speaker 1>If you go to giant bomb dot com slash join <v Speaker 1>become a premium member. A lot, a lot of eights <v Speaker 1>for this game. Dan Reichert from Giant Bomb gave it <v Speaker 1>three and a half stars and says it may fall <v Speaker 1>short if you're looking for a deep city builder or <v Speaker 1>life sem but as a piece of absurdistdat dot comedy, <v Speaker 1>I absolutely love Tomodacci life. <v Speaker 2>Living the dream. <v Speaker 1>Every day I look forward to booting it up, making <v Speaker 1>a me or two, seeing what unlikely friendships are forming, <v Speaker 1>and watching ludicrous vignette's play out. Giovanni Colintonio at Polygon writes, <v Speaker 1>I entered words and objects into the Island's language and <v Speaker 1>watched as my characters mixed and matched them into their <v Speaker 1>day to day interactions. Sometimes the results are nonsense. Other <v Speaker 1>times the simulation stumbles onto comedic gold so pointed you'd <v Speaker 1>swear someone must be scripting things behind the scenes. One <v Speaker 1>time I gave Todd Howard a role playing game item. <v Speaker 1>He was disappointed, saying it wasn't a very good fit <v Speaker 1>for him. You couldn't write a funnier joke if you tried. <v Speaker 4>It's it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's the emergent stuff here. <v Speaker 1>Let's do this last one eight out of ten from <v Speaker 1>Reuben Mount at the sixth axis, come about your life. <v Speaker 1>Living the Dream is a weird game. I could leave <v Speaker 1>my summary there and it would be entirely accurate. But <v Speaker 1>more than that, Living the Dream is your weird You <v Speaker 1>can have an island of celebrity alikes hurling expletives at <v Speaker 1>each other, or an island of your friends and family <v Speaker 1>interacting in increasingly bizarre ways. <v Speaker 2>And that's precisely the point. <v Speaker 1>There's a degree of weird that's baked into the game, <v Speaker 1>but from there, what you get out of it is <v Speaker 1>what you put into it. Yeah, writing a review for <v Speaker 1>this one is always going to be challenging, right because <v Speaker 1>it is a storytelling engine, it is a tool for play, <v Speaker 1>and it is less of a game as Dan was <v Speaker 1>alluding to there. <v Speaker 2>And so it's like, these reviews are useful to a <v Speaker 2>point for me, Jason. <v Speaker 1>What's going to be very useful for me is when <v Speaker 1>Emmy gets home from school on Thursday and I sit <v Speaker 1>her down in front of the full suite of features <v Speaker 1>that this game had that she didn't have access to <v Speaker 1>in the demo, which includes being able to basically make <v Speaker 1>whatever you want. You can just make whatever item you <v Speaker 1>want and get like Dan had Marlborough cigarettes in his game, <v Speaker 1>Like that's like when I saw that, I was say, wait, <v Speaker 1>what's happening, and they show me the tool to create <v Speaker 1>the stuff this is in the quick look. I did <v Speaker 1>not realize that feature was in there where you can <v Speaker 1>literally just make anything, call it whatever you want, hands <v Speaker 1>to your characters and they can. <v Speaker 2>Just do whatever. <v Speaker 1>So people are gonna get so much more creative than <v Speaker 1>what we've seen in this review process, and that stuff <v Speaker 1>I think is going to burst onto the scene instantly <v Speaker 1>on social media and that will be the real story <v Speaker 1>to me of this game is watching my kid, like <v Speaker 1>how she's able to use those creation tools to play <v Speaker 1>the game the way she plays games, which is to <v Speaker 1>tell stories with her characters. So if this game can <v Speaker 1>can like feed that and facilitate that, it will be <v Speaker 1>very different than the seventy eight on Open Critic that <v Speaker 1>we're seeing right now. <v Speaker 3>How do you take all this one hundred percent in <v Speaker 3>line with what you just said. My two have talked <v Speaker 3>about this game every single day this week, knowing that <v Speaker 3>the full game is coming. They got so into the <v Speaker 3>demo and so angry that eventually they just shut all <v Speaker 3>their knees to shut themselves in and said play the <v Speaker 3>full game. They created multiple switch accounts so they can <v Speaker 3>play the demo over and over and over and over again, <v Speaker 3>even with those limited tools, so when they get the <v Speaker 3>full breadth, I can't wait for the wild, wacky, bull <v Speaker 3>crap stories they're going to tell with this thing, and <v Speaker 3>being able to have them create their own items too. <v Speaker 3>I don't know that they're gonna have as much fun. <v Speaker 3>I think they're gonna do it, but I don't think <v Speaker 3>the items they'll create will be as funny as the <v Speaker 3>items that you or I would create, like the adult <v Speaker 3>players would create. They're not gonna be making Marlborough cigarettes, <v Speaker 3>you know what I'm saying, But they may find another <v Speaker 3>way to be funny. So I am I am fully <v Speaker 3>on board with you that this is a game A <v Speaker 3>hard game to critically analyze because the full value of <v Speaker 3>it is when it gets into the broader zeitgeist, to <v Speaker 3>use a pretentious term, when whenever, when the game is <v Speaker 3>given to the masses to let them run. And the <v Speaker 3>fact that there are not many guardrails in terms of <v Speaker 3>censorship or things you can create and put into the game, <v Speaker 3>even from the demo and now hearing you can put <v Speaker 3>cigarettes or like Giovanni's review, Mountain Dew put in there, <v Speaker 3>and some of the means he created. He created Garfield, <v Speaker 3>he created Skeeter from Doug David Lynch, and they're all <v Speaker 3>look amazing. I am excited for this. I know I'm <v Speaker 3>in for three copies my switch to and the two <v Speaker 3>switch lights in my house, and I'm just genuine yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 3>I am just genuinely curious what they're going to do <v Speaker 3>with this game, who they're going to create, how they're <v Speaker 3>going to create it, and the stories that we will <v Speaker 3>tell each other. I can my one, my younger daughter <v Speaker 3>is so excited. I could go to you to put <v Speaker 3>on the soundtrack for the breaking news segment, and she <v Speaker 3>just goes into today on my island. This me had <v Speaker 3>a giant head just right to the script. It's gonna <v Speaker 3>be great. I can't wait. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I can't wait as well. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and the people asking about when Quick Look isna happen, <v Speaker 1>We're just gonna hold it till the games out everybody, <v Speaker 1>so you'll be able to catch it then and then yeah, <v Speaker 1>just it's the easiest way to work with any embargoed <v Speaker 1>information and stuff like that, So yeah, you'll you'll get <v Speaker 1>that then and then yeah, I agree with this coming <v Speaker 1>from Smooth The value is how funny you are basically <v Speaker 1>essentially saying the value get out of it is the <v Speaker 1>value there is whatever you put into it, which I <v Speaker 1>think I think that's I think it's only true to <v Speaker 1>a certain point, right, because the game is funny on <v Speaker 1>its own. So it's like, as long as you're putting <v Speaker 1>energy into the game and you're just throwing things in <v Speaker 1>there haphazardly, there is always the chance that the game <v Speaker 1>then takes that mixes it up in such a way <v Speaker 1>that you have unexpected comedic moments, and it's like it's <v Speaker 1>you could just be creative in your own way, and <v Speaker 1>that could just be putting your family members in there, <v Speaker 1>trying to make it as realistic as possible, and then <v Speaker 1>the game will remix that in a way that could <v Speaker 1>turn out to be a very exhilarating looking forward to it. <v Speaker 2>Always love Tomodaci Life. <v Speaker 1>This, you know, the story coming out about the developers <v Speaker 1>in that interview that happened recently where they're talking about, yeah, <v Speaker 1>we were playing Tomodaci Life for the three DS, and <v Speaker 1>then we just kept playing it and playing it. <v Speaker 2>We ran out of stuff to do. <v Speaker 1>We basically had seen every scene, so we're like, we <v Speaker 1>should make another one. Nintendo said, yeah, that would be great, <v Speaker 1>and so here we are. And you could tell that <v Speaker 1>this game was made by people who really did enjoy <v Speaker 1>what Tomodacci Life is, which I think is fantastic because <v Speaker 1>it's very different. We have the sims, we have a <v Speaker 1>semi city builders games, we have lots of city builder games. <v Speaker 1>This thing is something different and needs to just be that, <v Speaker 1>which is again why these reviews trying to assess it <v Speaker 1>as a game only serve me as a reader so much, <v Speaker 1>and I need to just see how the community is <v Speaker 1>actually going to react. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that first game, I remember playing very fondly for <v Speaker 3>months with mes from people that I had met in <v Speaker 3>my time throughout Street Pass. I think I've mentioned this <v Speaker 3>on the show before, but Setu Awada once stole my <v Speaker 3>wife from me in that original TOBADOTSI game the official <v Speaker 3>me and. <v Speaker 2>How could he not? <v Speaker 3>But I think that might get lost because the creation <v Speaker 3>of the me I might not have the time to <v Speaker 3>put in. I kind of like being able to import <v Speaker 3>Street Pass means, so that that part might be might <v Speaker 3>be a herd extra hurdle here. And I understand that <v Speaker 3>the performance stage from the original game, where you could <v Speaker 3>make your own musicals or make your own little song <v Speaker 3>as part of the game is not here in this one, <v Speaker 3>but that is something that could be patched. They could <v Speaker 3>add something that we could get an update. Yeah, I'm <v Speaker 3>not I'm happens. I'm not terribly worried about that at <v Speaker 3>the moment. I I the value here. It's about time <v Speaker 3>we had a game that's just stupid for the sake <v Speaker 3>of being stupid, and sometimes stupid humor is just great <v Speaker 3>and we could us that in this state, in this <v Speaker 3>day and age. <v Speaker 2>It is worth pointing out. <v Speaker 1>Although it's like it's not like internal to the game, <v Speaker 1>so it's always weird, like we're talking about the game, <v Speaker 1>but no, this is part of it. Nintendo is limiting <v Speaker 1>the online sharing on the system level for this game. <v Speaker 1>So you could take screenshots, you could take clips, but <v Speaker 1>then those screenshots and clips, at least this is my <v Speaker 1>understanding of how it's going to work, you cannot then <v Speaker 1>share those from your your gallery on the switch. So <v Speaker 1>you're the only way to share this stuff is to <v Speaker 1>point a camera at the screen or to capture it yourself, right, <v Speaker 1>which a lot of people are going to do, and <v Speaker 1>that that that is a little bit harmful to the <v Speaker 1>to the potential success of this game, because so much <v Speaker 1>of it is look what happened here, Look what happened <v Speaker 1>like that. Those are the moments that I was enjoying <v Speaker 1>from watching Damn play. It's like, look what happened here, <v Speaker 1>and you'd like, Yeah, I can't wait for other people <v Speaker 1>to see this because they're going to really appreciate the <v Speaker 1>humor here, and that being limited is definitely a con <v Speaker 1>for this game, But I think people are going to <v Speaker 1>work their way around it. Life finds a way. I <v Speaker 1>think that will happen here. Yeah, all right, we'll stick <v Speaker 1>with Nintendo News. Two first party switch to ratings have <v Speaker 1>been spotted. This is from Liam Dulan at Nintendo Life. <v Speaker 1>New ratings for Splatoon Raiders and fire Emblem Fortunes Weave <v Speaker 1>have reportedly been spotted on Nintendo's European web pages. The <v Speaker 1>spinoff Splatoon Raiders now as a Peggy seven rating, and <v Speaker 1>the new fire Emblem has apparently been updated for a <v Speaker 1>provisional rating to a Peggy twelve. According to Nintendo's official <v Speaker 1>launch Windows schedule, Fire Emblem is due out at some <v Speaker 1>point in twenty twenty six, and the release date for <v Speaker 1>Splatoon Raiders is currently TBD. Now there's more to this <v Speaker 1>because okay, so to Nintendo switch in first party games <v Speaker 1>a leak, he'd say, okay, yeah, we know those who <v Speaker 1>have been coming for a long time, but there's been <v Speaker 1>some new movement on their ratings. There is also a <v Speaker 1>lot of other stuff happening, like I said, so that <v Speaker 1>has caused people to begin speculating is a Nintendo Direct <v Speaker 1>coming soon? So, in addition to the two to AF <v Speaker 1>four mentioned first party games, others are also seemingly lying <v Speaker 1>in wait, and we have that information from a bunch <v Speaker 1>of other ratings agencies. Hell is Us for Nintendo switch <v Speaker 1>to a rating for that game has served interesting. <v Speaker 2>Yes, right, hell is. <v Speaker 1>Us feels like one of those ones that could certainly <v Speaker 1>pop up in a Nintendo Direct. That game came out <v Speaker 1>in twenty twenty five. We talked about it on the site. <v Speaker 1>I think there is a quick look for that one <v Speaker 1>as well, so if you want to see exactly what <v Speaker 1>that game is. It was pretty good, pretty well received, <v Speaker 1>and now ninto the switch to rating has been discovered <v Speaker 1>in the ESRB. Then Devil May Cry five seemingly coming <v Speaker 1>to Nintendo switch To. This is another one we've heard <v Speaker 1>before from the Devil Hunter edition, but this is not <v Speaker 1>beneficially announced either. Diablo for Lord of Hatred that has <v Speaker 1>also had a rating surface online. I think that one <v Speaker 1>might have come from the Taiwan No Indonesia's rating board, <v Speaker 1>one of the ones that got hacked recently. And then <v Speaker 1>Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. We talked about that on <v Speaker 1>a show, right right, So we got the cloud Verse <v Speaker 1>on switch one and they're going to make a native <v Speaker 1>port for switch to. <v Speaker 2>It seems like that's according to this rating. <v Speaker 1>So that is a lot of stuff that they could <v Speaker 1>just announce it anytime, right, They could announce it the <v Speaker 1>Diablo for port for switch To at any time, and <v Speaker 1>they haven't done that. <v Speaker 2>And my guess would be because a lot of this stuff. <v Speaker 1>Is lying in wait literally for a Nintendo Direct to <v Speaker 1>pop off, so that's where they would all show up. <v Speaker 2>I mean that right there, You know that is six games. <v Speaker 1>That is a good chunk of a very decent direct, <v Speaker 1>especially like a partner direct. Maybe what do you make <v Speaker 1>of this is that does that sound right to you. <v Speaker 3>Uh, there's definitely some smoke here. There's definitely some some <v Speaker 3>some fire with for this smoke. Excuse me. I think <v Speaker 3>when it comes to Splatoon Raiders and Firearm Unfortunes We've, <v Speaker 3>I think you can put Splatoon Raiders release date as <v Speaker 3>the same day as whenever the Nintendo Direct is. That <v Speaker 3>sounds like something that you show off at the very <v Speaker 3>beginning and then say it's available at the end, right exactly. <v Speaker 3>You do like a ten minute trailer at the beginning <v Speaker 3>and say, hey, this is available at the very end <v Speaker 3>of this presentation, go get it right. <v Speaker 4>Fortunes Weave. <v Speaker 3>I expect to be somewhere in the back to school <v Speaker 3>area September October pre GTA six to get it out <v Speaker 3>there so people can play it. Not that many people <v Speaker 3>will be jumping from fire Emblem to GTA six. I <v Speaker 3>suspect the people who want to play fire Emblem are <v Speaker 3>going to stay there. But that sounds like something they <v Speaker 3>would put there as far as these third party are concerned. <v Speaker 3>I don't we just did a part of Direct, did we. <v Speaker 2>Now? <v Speaker 3>We have not had a true first party Nintendo Direct <v Speaker 3>in twenty twenty six yet, and I believe last year <v Speaker 3>there was the April switch to debut, and then there <v Speaker 3>was a May switch one, the last switch one direct right, and. <v Speaker 2>Then June was and Tomaci life. <v Speaker 3>Yeah exactly, So there is some room here where you <v Speaker 3>could have like a small direct lead and then tease <v Speaker 3>the big June one that you always do. <v Speaker 4>That would have the two that I. <v Speaker 3>Just mentioned, plus hell is Usteville, May Cry Diablo for <v Speaker 3>and Guardians of the Galaxy and what this and Guardians <v Speaker 3>of the Galaxy specifically there being a cloud version from <v Speaker 3>from for a squeeren X game tells me that if <v Speaker 3>they ported this to switch to Kingdom Hearts might not <v Speaker 3>be far behind. Yeah right, yeah, this might this, This <v Speaker 3>may have been their experiment to iron everything out and <v Speaker 3>then you native port the Kingdom Hearts games. <v Speaker 1>The Guardians of the Galaxy team now is at Embracer Group. <v Speaker 1>So who knows actually how that all that it could be. <v Speaker 1>You could still be right because I don't know where <v Speaker 1>the like at the end of the day, where the <v Speaker 1>rights lie. <v Speaker 4>But who knows. <v Speaker 2>There could be a separation there either way. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, you know that doesn't even you know, mention <v Speaker 1>the rumors of a star Fox and Ocker enough time <v Speaker 1>right now, the reporting is saying that the Star Fox <v Speaker 1>is going to ge announced by by itself on its <v Speaker 1>own in the Nintendo to Day app or on Twitter <v Speaker 1>or on YouTube or something like that, and then you <v Speaker 1>just don't do that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean yeah, but then that then that's supposed. <v Speaker 1>To come in like June or July. It's supposed to <v Speaker 1>come over the summer. And then the other rumors that <v Speaker 1>there would be a real direct in the June time frame. <v Speaker 1>A lot of this stuff could wait until then, but <v Speaker 1>if any of it's coming sooner, wouldn't be surprised if <v Speaker 1>there is just a direct mini or something something they've <v Speaker 1>done like that before to set up that big direct <v Speaker 1>direct in June, as you were saying, so we'll see. <v Speaker 1>I you know, I'm certainly at a point where it's like, yeah, okay, <v Speaker 1>this is a good list of ports to first party games. <v Speaker 1>We got to get up updated on oker Ena of time, <v Speaker 1>for sure, and then what else do you have that's new? <v Speaker 1>What other third parties have you worked with to like <v Speaker 1>get something fresh on here, which they you know, they <v Speaker 1>better have and they could have in a direct. So yeah, <v Speaker 1>looking forward to it, it does feel like we are <v Speaker 1>just kind of waiting for that damn to break with <v Speaker 1>Starfox and go from there. <v Speaker 3>And there's also that specter of the Smash Bros. Nintendo <v Speaker 3>Switch to edition that never rumored, never speculated, but highly <v Speaker 3>like predicted. Let's say that's got to be floating out <v Speaker 3>there in either I think it's still the only Op <v Speaker 3>tens Switch one selling game to not have a switch <v Speaker 3>to edition in any shape or form. <v Speaker 1>So there's a lot of like we're still on the <v Speaker 1>cusp of like when that would normally come out that <v Speaker 1>they do put like switch to a Smash on their <v Speaker 1>systems in like year two, So we might be approaching <v Speaker 1>that here pretty soon. <v Speaker 2>I mean we're gonna be in year two starting in May. <v Speaker 2>That's true. <v Speaker 4>That's true. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, So there definitely seems like the Nintendo director is coming, <v Speaker 3>just a matter of when. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely, all right, let's go ahead and take our break. <v Speaker 1>Plenty of more headlines to get to after this. If <v Speaker 1>you want to skip out on this, you're gonna be <v Speaker 1>able to do so, go to johnbomb dot com, slash Join, <v Speaker 1>become a premium member. <v Speaker 2>But for now, if you. <v Speaker 1>Are going to stick around and watch this, we're going <v Speaker 1>to go throw to a Dosa Divas trailer as a reminder, <v Speaker 1>Dosa Divas is out now you can go grab it. <v Speaker 1>Let's go ahead and check it out. It's Game Best Mornings. <v Speaker 2>We are back. <v Speaker 1>That's Jason Finelli. I'm Jeff Grubb. Let's get into this <v Speaker 1>next story. XPO is having quote very big discussions about exclusivity, <v Speaker 1>says reporter. <v Speaker 2>The story hasn't gone away. You know that this was <v Speaker 2>something that. <v Speaker 1>Popped up in that first week with Ash Sharma taking <v Speaker 1>over the role of president of Microsoft Gaming. And I <v Speaker 1>think it hasn't gone away because maybe there is more <v Speaker 1>smoke and suggesting that there's actual fire behind the scenes there. <v Speaker 1>This is from Bencerrey at Pure Xbox. With Asha Sharman <v Speaker 1>now in charge of Microsoft's Xbox division, the team is <v Speaker 1>going in a slightly different and more console focused direction <v Speaker 1>here in twenty twenty six, with Xbox exclusivity coming up <v Speaker 1>as a hot. <v Speaker 2>Topic for the New Boss already. <v Speaker 1>Whilst nothing has been confirmed publicly yet and plenty of <v Speaker 1>Xbox games are currently still scheduled to release on PS five, <v Speaker 1>there are apparently internal talks going on about this very <v Speaker 1>topic over at Microsoft HQ. In another podcast clip from <v Speaker 1>Windows Central reporter Jazz Cordon, the journalist talk. The journalist <v Speaker 1>talks a little bit about exclusivity on Xbox and how <v Speaker 1>there are very, very very big discussions happened internally about <v Speaker 1>how Microsoft will deal with potential exclusives under the new <v Speaker 1>Xbox regime. We don't really know the full nature of <v Speaker 1>these discussions, but it sounds like it's something the team <v Speaker 1>is keenly aware of looking into. He goes on to say, <v Speaker 1>they do recognize the value. It's just about what kind <v Speaker 1>of company do you want to be at the end <v Speaker 1>of the day. Do you want to be an ecosystem <v Speaker 1>company first or do you want to be a publishing <v Speaker 1>company first? <v Speaker 2>And that, Yeah, that's that's certainly the question he does. <v Speaker 1>I think he elaborated somewhere on social media where someone's <v Speaker 1>like that this is just they're not going to give <v Speaker 1>up that money they're getting from PlayStation and he's like, look, <v Speaker 1>Fortsa is probably never going to be exclusive again. That's <v Speaker 1>been way too successful. But single player games, like those <v Speaker 1>kinds of games that are that are more limited in <v Speaker 1>terms of like that don't have any multiplayer appeal and <v Speaker 1>don't aren't going to like pop off in that way. <v Speaker 1>He says, those might return to be an exclusive, similar <v Speaker 1>to what PlayStation is thinking of. <v Speaker 2>Doing with its games and PC. <v Speaker 1>My question, Jason is you can have all these discussions <v Speaker 1>you want, but a huge part of that conversation, maybe <v Speaker 1>the reason it is so big, is how how does <v Speaker 1>this work on the next Xbox that is going to <v Speaker 1>be a PC, Because if you're going to open up <v Speaker 1>to all these other stores, what that would really mean <v Speaker 1>is not just no longer putting it out on PlayStation. <v Speaker 1>I mean, maybe it does, but if you're let's get <v Speaker 1>through this, if you put it on Steam and people <v Speaker 1>can access Steam on these consoles, people will just use <v Speaker 1>their Steam library that they already have and get those. <v Speaker 2>Xbox games on there. So if you're choosing to be <v Speaker 2>an ecosystem. <v Speaker 1>Company, and the whole idea is okay, yeah, we want <v Speaker 1>to get people into our ecosystem and make money from <v Speaker 1>all these other purchases. So let's put our new Xbox <v Speaker 1>console and whoops, everyone's using Steam instead. That that does <v Speaker 1>not function that way, So you'd have to also exclude Steam, <v Speaker 1>which just doesn't didn't seem like that was in the cards, <v Speaker 1>but that must be what this could could be leading to. <v Speaker 3>No, I think they're more delusional and think that PC <v Speaker 3>is first party. To be honest, anything on PC that <v Speaker 3>uses Windows is first party, so they consider it a <v Speaker 3>win just having it on a platform that the Xbox, <v Speaker 3>this new Xbox can run. I honestly think this is <v Speaker 3>just referring to PlayStation and perhaps to a lesser extent, <v Speaker 3>the switch to They're just not going to do anything <v Speaker 3>on those two consoles anymore. It'll be Xbox n PC, <v Speaker 3>and they'll consider that first party. They'll consider that exclusive <v Speaker 3>console exclusive if they really want to get pedantic about it. <v Speaker 3>But that's where I think they're falling here, because I <v Speaker 3>don't think they'll ever consider PC an Xbox to be <v Speaker 3>separate again, right right, They will never be separate ecosystems <v Speaker 3>from one another. So if they want to get back <v Speaker 3>into first party publishing and exclusive publishing, they have to <v Speaker 3>keep the PC door open, begrudgingly, because the Pandora's Box <v Speaker 3>of this is an Xbox opened the door for even <v Speaker 3>more PC assimilation than was already there, and you just <v Speaker 3>can't that box again, you can't shut that door. So <v Speaker 3>it feels I think this is more about Sony and <v Speaker 3>Nintendo getting Xbox games than it is about keeping the <v Speaker 3>Xbox app the only place you can play this games. <v Speaker 4>That makes sense. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean I think the way they would have <v Speaker 1>to think to believe that would be if we sell <v Speaker 1>people Xboxes, and even if we offer them Steam, most <v Speaker 1>people just default to the Xbox interface and buying games <v Speaker 1>through there, and maybe a lot of those people already <v Speaker 1>have Xbox libraries. That makes some sense. But you know, <v Speaker 1>we could talk about what this actually all is. And <v Speaker 1>I think Matt Piscatella had a post about this which <v Speaker 1>I will mostly copy the thought the thought for thought here. <v Speaker 2>He's like, yeah, this it's a grass is always greener. <v Speaker 1>These companies went from hey, we're building up exclusive so <v Speaker 1>we can build up our ecosystem, and that is the <v Speaker 1>strategy for the business that we're in. And now all <v Speaker 1>of a sudden and oh god, we kind of hit <v Speaker 1>the ceiling of growth there, so we need to shift <v Speaker 1>things up. So let's shift to a broader, put games <v Speaker 1>out everywhere strategy where we can make a lot more <v Speaker 1>money from all these other platforms. Ecosystems are are the past, <v Speaker 1>and it's like, okay, now we've sort of hit the <v Speaker 1>ceiling over there on that as well. I mean, PlayStation <v Speaker 1>certainly has with a lot of its PC games not <v Speaker 1>doing as well as they thought it would. So now <v Speaker 1>the people who are in charge are like, Okay, the <v Speaker 1>future is ecosystems. Let's peel everything back and let's go <v Speaker 1>back to the way things were, because it's not. <v Speaker 2>It's grass is always greener. <v Speaker 1>And I think when what that really says is, you know, <v Speaker 1>I was always operating under some assumption that all that data, <v Speaker 1>all that telemetry that these companies have gave them some <v Speaker 1>insight into the recent shift from ecosystems to putting their <v Speaker 1>games everywhere was just like a foregone conclusion, like, hey, <v Speaker 1>we're looking at the numbers here, and we have to <v Speaker 1>do this. It's the only thing that makes sense because <v Speaker 1>that's just where the future actually is. And no, it <v Speaker 1>was them sort of grasping at straws. They don't know <v Speaker 1>any better than anyone else, which is a little disconcerting actually, <v Speaker 1>But I think that's what this is really all about, <v Speaker 1>is new leadership has to try something different, and there's <v Speaker 1>only kind of one other. <v Speaker 2>Big idea option there. <v Speaker 1>It's either your your publishing company or you're an ecosystem company, <v Speaker 1>and they're going to maybe flip flop back and forth <v Speaker 1>between those two. <v Speaker 2>Maybe Adam Pinitum into the structure. What do you think? <v Speaker 3>And I wonder too if timed exclusives might be something <v Speaker 3>they're considering too, where they have like have your cake <v Speaker 3>and eat it to situationally it's exclusive to their Xbox <v Speaker 3>PC environment for six months to a year, basically what <v Speaker 3>they're doing now, and then they poured it to the <v Speaker 3>other consoles and see what kind of extra revenue they <v Speaker 3>can get on that return. As we'll talk about in <v Speaker 3>the next story here, it actually seems to be benefiting <v Speaker 3>them to do those timed exclusives, not necessarily launch day <v Speaker 3>and day on everything. So again I can see them <v Speaker 3>trying to get both patches of grass to be green. <v Speaker 3>Her that's a very weird analogy to make, but like <v Speaker 3>make all the grass green, why does that be greener <v Speaker 3>over there? Let's have every piece of Xbox green and <v Speaker 3>see how that split works for them. <v Speaker 4>This Ultimately, every time. <v Speaker 3>I hear Ashra Sharma say something, it all just seems <v Speaker 3>like they're really trying to backpedal off of the whole <v Speaker 3>this is an Xbox thing. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah. <v Speaker 1>Apparently a lot of people hated that, and it sounds <v Speaker 1>like she certainly does. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and that backpedaling will probably take a full year <v Speaker 3>at this rate. I think they'll keep backpedaling from that <v Speaker 3>until the showcase when they finally have a chance to <v Speaker 3>say this is the new Xbox, this is what we are, <v Speaker 3>and then off we go. <v Speaker 1>Yes, I bet they've spent the last few weeks since <v Speaker 1>that change, like reshaping that Xbox showcase to really establish <v Speaker 1>a new brand future, a new brand identity into the future. <v Speaker 1>Let's get to that next story. As you were saying <v Speaker 1>from Reese Elliott on Twitter, shouts out to Reese. We <v Speaker 1>got to get him back on here soon. Some more <v Speaker 1>positive data for Xbox games on PlayStation forts Horison five <v Speaker 1>has sold a nuts five point seven million copies on <v Speaker 1>PS five on PS five alone, generating upwards of three <v Speaker 1>hundred and twenty million dollars in gross revenue. This is <v Speaker 1>and just to throw things out there, Reese knows this <v Speaker 1>stuff on this he works for Alena Partners. They have <v Speaker 1>their way of collecting data that isn't perfect. But whenever <v Speaker 1>I talk to people in the industry at these companies <v Speaker 1>where they're making these estimates for like, when they're making <v Speaker 1>these estimates about these companies, the people at those companies <v Speaker 1>are like Yeah, that's that's basically that's like, we're surprised <v Speaker 1>that that is basically right. So, yeah, that three hundred <v Speaker 1>and twenty million dollar number probably correct. This is a <v Speaker 1>phenomenal performance for a legacy port, setting a massive precedent <v Speaker 1>for the future of the Forts of franchise looking ahead. <v Speaker 1>I can only wonder how much higher the ceiling would <v Speaker 1>have been for Forts of Horizon six if it were <v Speaker 1>coming to PS five. <v Speaker 2>On day one. <v Speaker 1>And I think what you're alluding to, Jason, what I <v Speaker 1>agree with is for now, these numbers for Forts the <v Speaker 1>Horizon five, I say, you don't have to make a <v Speaker 1>quick leap to it comes out day one to PlayStation six. <v Speaker 1>You do have a lot of wiggle room to have <v Speaker 1>to have your cake and eat it too here a <v Speaker 1>little bit, have some timed exclusives, and then still have <v Speaker 1>success on PlayStation. I would expect them to continue doing <v Speaker 1>that more than anything else, because it just has worked. <v Speaker 1>And maybe they're like, Okay, actually no, we are going <v Speaker 1>to keep doing that. We're just talking about these other games. <v Speaker 1>But that feels pretty wishy. You wash it to me, <v Speaker 1>this is hard data saying this. To me, this continues <v Speaker 1>to be the future. That's my guess. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean five point seven million copies, three hundred <v Speaker 3>twenty million dollars can't be wrong, right, That does not lie. <v Speaker 3>So they to want to completely remove themselves from the <v Speaker 3>PlayStation ecosystem after having this sort of performance and the <v Speaker 3>other two in the story, which we'll get to in <v Speaker 3>a second, is wild to me. The fact that they <v Speaker 3>would even consider that is stupid. That three hundred twenty <v Speaker 3>million dollars is not something you can just leave on <v Speaker 3>the table. You can't do it, so I timed exclusive. <v Speaker 3>The more I read, the more I think about, it <v Speaker 3>just seems to be the way of the future for them. <v Speaker 3>Whether they find it is another story, but one quick <v Speaker 3>side story I would love to get some comment on. <v Speaker 3>I don't think i'll ever happen. How are you feeling <v Speaker 3>if you're the Grand Tarismo team, right, Yeah, I mean <v Speaker 3>I mean for I mean, garyt Trismo sells fine on <v Speaker 3>its own, but your biggest competitor just came in and <v Speaker 3>ate your lunch. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And I think I think it's just selling better <v Speaker 1>than anyone's expected. But Sony gets a lot of that money, <v Speaker 1>so that I'm sure they're happy. And and if you're <v Speaker 1>if you're the Grand Turismo team. <v Speaker 2>Here's the thing. My understanding is Grand Trismo is doing <v Speaker 2>really well. Like it like it is. It is doing <v Speaker 2>a thing. <v Speaker 1>Where it sells well out of the gate, but then <v Speaker 1>it builds its community for a long period of time, <v Speaker 1>and that has con that's worked for all these games, <v Speaker 1>and apparently maybe seven is doing better at that than <v Speaker 1>any of them. So I don't have a ton of <v Speaker 1>insight into into that space, but when I look, that <v Speaker 1>is the takeaway that I've had, so hopefully it's like <v Speaker 1>everyone can just win here, and yeah, that would be good. <v Speaker 1>It's like the mattress district in your in your city, <v Speaker 1>where it's like, oh, there's why are there's so many <v Speaker 1>mattress stores here, But it turns out it's like no, <v Speaker 1>just economically that works out for everybody. Putting all these <v Speaker 1>things next to each other actually attracts more buyers, so <v Speaker 1>everybody wins. <v Speaker 3>That's a good point. Chat Is tell is correcting my <v Speaker 3>course here. Grants seven is more of a hardcore simulation <v Speaker 3>like fors a motor Sport horizons more of an arcade racer, <v Speaker 3>so they can coexist. <v Speaker 1>Yes, And Motorsport kind of crash and burned a little <v Speaker 1>bit and is actually no threat to Grand Trisma seven. <v Speaker 2>It seems like in this moment, all right, so let's <v Speaker 2>continue here. <v Speaker 1>Rockstar leak reveals why GTA six PC launch is on <v Speaker 1>the back burner. This is from Eliza Crichton Stewart, who, Yeah, listen, <v Speaker 1>I think I generally agree with that takeaway, but well, <v Speaker 1>let's get into it. A hacking group breached Rockstar Games. <v Speaker 1>The studio confirmed a limited amount of internal data was <v Speaker 1>accessed through a third party breach, and then the and <v Speaker 1>then the group followed through on its threat to release <v Speaker 1>the data after its demands went unmet. Now, of course, <v Speaker 1>the data would all about how much money Rockstar makes <v Speaker 1>from GTA online and it's its market about market cap <v Speaker 1>went up a billion dollars yesterday. <v Speaker 2>Two percent because of this. So the rock Star and. <v Speaker 1>Take two do not seem like they are doing too <v Speaker 1>poorly based on that leak, but that that league did <v Speaker 1>have some other data, which is as Eliza writes here, <v Speaker 1>could make some PC players a little uncomfortable. And that <v Speaker 1>is a ninety seven percent split where ninety seven percent percent, <v Speaker 1>excuse me, of the spending on GTA online on a <v Speaker 1>weekly basis, is on a console where three percent is <v Speaker 1>on a PC. <v Speaker 2>That is a massive difference. <v Speaker 1>Now part of me would say, like, what you know, <v Speaker 1>this is time is linear, right, So so you have <v Speaker 1>to look at the fact that GTA came out on <v Speaker 1>consoles first, and that's where a lot of lot GT <v Speaker 1>five came out on consoles first. <v Speaker 2>It's where a lot of people. <v Speaker 1>Bought it, the people who are most likely to be <v Speaker 1>in the GTA online and so those people just kind <v Speaker 1>of carried forward, got their GTA online account when it launched, <v Speaker 1>and stuck stuck to console and now that's where most <v Speaker 1>of those people are now. <v Speaker 2>The number is so extreme that that can't. <v Speaker 1>Be that there is a different community of GTA player <v Speaker 1>on the PC that is mostly using mods, maybe mostly <v Speaker 1>playing the role playing game, mostly trying stuff that is <v Speaker 1>created by the community, and that the thing with GTA six. <v Speaker 2>Is they bought all that stuff. <v Speaker 1>Rock Star now owns all that stuff and they are <v Speaker 1>going to like that is going to be a major thing. <v Speaker 1>I'm like, I want to do something more about GTA six, Jason, <v Speaker 1>where it's like, I think it might be doing too much. <v Speaker 2>I think that it's. <v Speaker 1>One of the scariest launches for a company in the <v Speaker 1>history of this industry because as we know because of <v Speaker 1>this reporting, this game the Shark cards alone make five <v Speaker 1>hundred billion or five hundred million dollars a year a year, <v Speaker 1>excuse me, half a billion dollars a year, and that <v Speaker 1>doesn't include how much money the game is making from <v Speaker 1>just selling in retail, so it's probably making about a <v Speaker 1>billion dollars a year, mostly because people want GTA online <v Speaker 1>Shark cards from those retail packages. So if they screw <v Speaker 1>that up, it's like that is so much money that <v Speaker 1>could just disappear overnight. So yeah, we like them. Not <v Speaker 1>launching on PC, I think is partly due to this number. <v Speaker 1>It's also due to the fact that they love the <v Speaker 1>idea of just launching on console, then a year later <v Speaker 1>having another launch on PC, then a year after that <v Speaker 1>having another launch on the new generation of consoles that <v Speaker 1>do often launch in that timeframe for them, and they <v Speaker 1>just love hitting those beats and it has always worked <v Speaker 1>out for them, and then they really can't focus on <v Speaker 1>where the pig spenders are for them on the console <v Speaker 1>in that first year. <v Speaker 3>So that all sounds right to me. What do you <v Speaker 3>think that makes perfect sense? And the data that you <v Speaker 3>have here kind of leads into that PC was two <v Speaker 3>hundred and sixty four thousand dollars a week, Xbox One <v Speaker 3>was just under a million at nine hundred and eighteen <v Speaker 3>thousand PS four nine and forty seven thousand dollars, and <v Speaker 3>then Xbox Series X one point eight PS five four <v Speaker 3>point five. The fact that the previous generation of consoles <v Speaker 3>is still pulling nearly a million dollars a week in <v Speaker 3>revenue from GTA on nine tells you everything you need <v Speaker 3>to know about their approach. And even though it's silly, <v Speaker 3>even though it borders on Skyrim levels on your Skyrim <v Speaker 3>now is available on your TI eight three calculator or <v Speaker 3>whatever the joke is, it works. Yeah, we're still pouring <v Speaker 3>money into this game from ten year old consoles at <v Speaker 3>this point more than that. So I as silly as <v Speaker 3>it sounds, and as much as PC players mayn't want <v Speaker 3>to hear this, they're probably gonna have to wait a <v Speaker 3>little while because. <v Speaker 2>It works for rock Star. <v Speaker 3>And now whether or not they have to wait as <v Speaker 3>long because of the role playing purchases that you mentioned, <v Speaker 3>that remains to be seen. I imagine someone in rock <v Speaker 3>Star is gonna be like, well, we bought all this stuff, <v Speaker 3>we can't have them waiting this long for the GTA <v Speaker 3>six stuff. They're gonna have our heads. So maybe it's <v Speaker 3>six months. I don't know if it'll be a year <v Speaker 3>or whatever. <v Speaker 2>It could be. <v Speaker 1>It could be anything like that. Just like what they <v Speaker 1>did for GTA five was year year year. I don't <v Speaker 1>think it'll be that exact same timeframe, but it'll be <v Speaker 1>the exact same strategy. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and I think the PC announcement will come, but <v Speaker 3>I just don't think it's going to be as long <v Speaker 3>as it's been in the past. <v Speaker 2>If that makes sense, Yep, absolutely. <v Speaker 1>I will just read that paragraph of all the platform <v Speaker 1>breakdown just for everybody so they have that those numbers <v Speaker 1>because it is interesting. <v Speaker 2>PS five sits at the top of the GTA. <v Speaker 1>Online earning spile, reportedly pulling in four point five million <v Speaker 1>dollars per week. Xbox Series X follows at one point <v Speaker 1>eight million dollars per week, then PS four at nine <v Speaker 1>hundred and forty seven thousand dollars, then Xbox won at <v Speaker 1>nine hundred and eighteen thousand dollars, basically the same amount <v Speaker 1>of money as the PS four, and then finally PC <v Speaker 1>at two hundred and sixty four thousand dollars you know, God, <v Speaker 1>I think I do think that a lot of the <v Speaker 1>postume we're seeing from Xbox right now is let's just <v Speaker 1>put ourselves in the best situation possible to have people <v Speaker 1>maybe buy grant a thought of six on an Xbox. <v Speaker 1>So we get those people locked in on our console, <v Speaker 1>our platform, whatever it is. We're going to get a <v Speaker 1>lot of that money for a long time, and we <v Speaker 1>really don't want to miss out on that. And if <v Speaker 1>that works out, we can build on that, because this <v Speaker 1>stuff is actually what really fuels the money, the money <v Speaker 1>that these console manufacturers make on their systems. All right, <v Speaker 1>let's keep going here. PS five sales reached years high <v Speaker 1>as consumers race to beat Sony's price increases. <v Speaker 2>A lot of juicy stories today. This is from Andy <v Speaker 2>Robinson at VGC. <v Speaker 1>PlayStation five hardware sales reportedly reached year highs in the <v Speaker 1>US earlier this month as consumers race to beat Sony's <v Speaker 1>significant price increases. Late last month, Sony confirmed plans to <v Speaker 1>increase the price of its console by at least one <v Speaker 1>hundred dollars across the board. Notably, the premium PlayStation five <v Speaker 1>console increased by one hundred and fifty dollars and now <v Speaker 1>retails for nine hundred dollars. According to Circana's retail tracking service, <v Speaker 1>US weekly unit and dollar sales of the PlayStation five <v Speaker 1>hardware reached twenty twenty six highs during the week ending <v Speaker 1>April fourth, right as the price increases went into effect. <v Speaker 1>So it appears that many consumers impulsively bought hardware before <v Speaker 1>the price jumps. Matt Matt Piscatel has said that the <v Speaker 1>US spending on video game hardware for the week nearly <v Speaker 1>doubled when compared to the same week a year ago. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I mean, not too surprising. God, it's almost a strategy <v Speaker 1>to raise your price at this point. It really, people <v Speaker 1>really do rush out to get the old price. You know, <v Speaker 1>we saw the same thing happen with when the tax <v Speaker 1>incentives expired on evs, where like the sales of EPs <v Speaker 1>like shot up crazily in that month beforehand, and then <v Speaker 1>they plummeted back to earth. I would expect the same <v Speaker 1>thing to happen here. Yeah, people did act, and now <v Speaker 1>we just got to wait and see. Okay, how do <v Speaker 1>these new prices settle in? Are people still buying PS <v Speaker 1>fives after that? That's still a question. <v Speaker 2>What do you think? <v Speaker 3>Uh? Yeah, This is why the PS five price increase <v Speaker 3>didn't happen the next day. That's why they gave it <v Speaker 3>some time to breathe, because they knew that this was <v Speaker 3>going to happen. Honestly, good for them. But I don't know, <v Speaker 3>I don't really see a lot of good hardware sales <v Speaker 3>news for quite some time, especially with nine one hundred <v Speaker 3>dollars premium consoles like that. <v Speaker 4>That that that number. <v Speaker 3>Remember when we left at derisively at five hundred and <v Speaker 3>ninety nine US dollars, Remember when that became a meme. <v Speaker 3>And now we're three hundred dollars years over that in <v Speaker 3>this timeline, it's absolutely insane at Pescatella, which you have <v Speaker 3>to say like this also says that he said it <v Speaker 3>nearly doubled we compared to the same week a year ago, <v Speaker 3>which makes sense because there wasn't a major price increase coming. <v Speaker 2>A year ago. Oh no, oh yeah, well it was <v Speaker 2>a year ago, you're right, Yeah, so that's year over year. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, same week a year of year. And we're <v Speaker 3>not quite in the no because the switch to pre <v Speaker 3>order window hasn't happened yet, right, it was going to <v Speaker 3>but then the random delay happened. Well, we know why, right, <v Speaker 3>God that wild nonsense, and all of a sudden, we <v Speaker 3>were up at one o'clock in the morning on a <v Speaker 3>Thursday trying to preorder that some of this. Yeah, we <v Speaker 3>had that great stream. Yeah it was fun. But so <v Speaker 3>I get it. I get why this happened. I don't <v Speaker 3>think PlayStations should expect any success like this anytime soon. <v Speaker 3>The ship has sailed, at least not until the prices <v Speaker 3>come back down, whenever the hell that happens. <v Speaker 1>I mean, I think their hope is that they don't <v Speaker 1>see any good hardware news until GTA six, and then <v Speaker 1>GTA six sort of washes the slate. <v Speaker 2>Clean, and then these new. <v Speaker 1>Numbers, like these numbers, these prices emerge after the GTA <v Speaker 1>six launch as like this is the new world and <v Speaker 1>people are buying this system GTA six, and so now <v Speaker 1>people have just accepted it. <v Speaker 2>This is the cost to play that game that you know. <v Speaker 1>I think we have problems, yeah, and I think we <v Speaker 1>get're like, wait and see what that actually looks like, <v Speaker 1>because we don't know that that's going to be the case. <v Speaker 1>This is very expensive. People have been playing that game <v Speaker 1>for a long time. Maybe they're like, uh, I'll wait <v Speaker 1>and see how I feel about this one. I've moved <v Speaker 1>on to my life a little bit, but it's GTA. <v Speaker 1>I doubt that's gonna happen, so we'll see for ourselves, <v Speaker 1>all right, last story here, A RESTful trails to Jock Blaney, <v Speaker 1>who was the voice of Wolf o'dnald and Bill Gray <v Speaker 1>in Star Fox sixty four. <v Speaker 2>He has passed away. <v Speaker 1>We have a SAT update to share as Jock Blaney, <v Speaker 1>who has who had voiced voice acting roles in Star <v Speaker 1>Fox sixty four, has passed away. Although he died last month, <v Speaker 1>the news only just started making the rounds today. Blaney <v Speaker 1>played Wolf o'donald and Bill Gray in the Nintendo classic. <v Speaker 1>Bill isn't quite as well known, but but Wolf has <v Speaker 1>been a series mainstay. Blaney only played Wolf in Star <v Speaker 1>Fox sixty four, and the role has changed voice actors since. <v Speaker 1>So you know that is a lot of those voice <v Speaker 1>lines wringing my head all this constantly. <v Speaker 3>When I saw this headline, I knew you were getting <v Speaker 3>stories together and I was afraid that you might miss it. <v Speaker 3>So I said, can't let you do that, Jeff Grub <v Speaker 3>So I stend it over and this guy like, you're good, <v Speaker 3>but I'm better I can't let you do that. I <v Speaker 3>just they ring in my head to and Bill as well, <v Speaker 3>but the two of them. Bill's an underrated character, maybe <v Speaker 3>not my favorite, but the way that his voice has <v Speaker 3>impacted my gaming life just by being a part of <v Speaker 3>that game, which is a seminal part of my gaming career, <v Speaker 3>for lack of a better term, he really has enriched <v Speaker 3>me in ways that I didn't really feel until after <v Speaker 3>hearing about his passing. You go back and think about it, <v Speaker 3>You're like, Wow, wolf O'Donnell in that game. Really, I've <v Speaker 3>quoted him just as much as any other video game <v Speaker 3>character ever. So it's a shame sad to see, but <v Speaker 3>his voice will live on forever in an absolute classic. <v Speaker 3>Play the game now, it's on switch To, It's on <v Speaker 3>the switch Online expansion, is it not? <v Speaker 2>Absolutely it is? <v Speaker 3>That's how I played it for the today. Yeah, I <v Speaker 3>have today contributed Jock. <v Speaker 1>I would almost argue that performances like his, and specifically <v Speaker 1>his performance in that game is why it made so <v Speaker 1>much sense when we got the puppet versions of the <v Speaker 1>characters for Star Fox for the WEU or whatever it's called. <v Speaker 2>I can never remember the name. <v Speaker 1>And because it's like, because that this, Yes, thank you. <v Speaker 1>This is what a great like voice acting in the <v Speaker 1>game sounded like in the nineties. It was just these <v Speaker 1>these people almost puppeting a character and and bringing it <v Speaker 1>to life the way they you would a childhood character. <v Speaker 2>And yeah, there's a reason. <v Speaker 1>It sticks with us because it's just delivered with such gusto. <v Speaker 1>And yeah, so once again, wrestle Trails, you will be missed. <v Speaker 2>All right, that does it for the headlines. <v Speaker 1>Let's get to the poll question on Monday, I have <v Speaker 1>the results over here. Thank you to Jan as always <v Speaker 1>for posting it. Have you ever played Starfield? Your options <v Speaker 1>were yes, yes now that it's on PS five and no. <v Speaker 1>Only two percent of people said yes now that it's <v Speaker 1>on the PS five, So, you know, we it was <v Speaker 1>looking like it was doing okay on the platform with <v Speaker 1>this audience. Didn't move the needle much. I've bet a <v Speaker 1>lot of people just found a way to play that <v Speaker 1>game if they knew that they wanted to play it, <v Speaker 1>and the fact that it's on PlayStation now hasn't changed that. <v Speaker 2>It changed that all that much. <v Speaker 1>For this audience specifically, forty seven percent said no and <v Speaker 1>fifty two percent said yes they have played Starfield. You <v Speaker 1>know this was going to be a moment for this <v Speaker 1>game to get positive word of mouth again, to be like, <v Speaker 1>look at all the ways that this game has improved <v Speaker 1>since launch. <v Speaker 2>That is not the story going on about it right now. <v Speaker 1>It is once again, Bethesda launched a game in a <v Speaker 1>very messy state, right. <v Speaker 3>Yes, Bethesda, and as a MESSPS three launch name a <v Speaker 3>more iconic deal getting Skyrim. I were oblivion vibes even <v Speaker 3>from twenty years ago. I'm not surprised. I mean, after <v Speaker 3>the Pete Heinz thing a couple of days ago, here <v Speaker 3>was talking about why, like one of his reasons for <v Speaker 3>leaving was it just didn't feel right. Some didn't feel right. Now, <v Speaker 3>then again, has been making this mistake for twenty years. <v Speaker 3>So this one's just old Field, ye, But I don't know, <v Speaker 3>I'm not It's just another another part of the timeline <v Speaker 3>of Bethesda that just makes me really like, I want <v Speaker 3>to like you guys, but something I like Starfield on Xbox. <v Speaker 3>I did enjoy that, but I liked I liked the store, <v Speaker 3>the story choice in particular, how it's a cyclical I'm <v Speaker 3>not going to spoil it for anybody, but it's got <v Speaker 3>a cyclical nature to it. <v Speaker 2>That. <v Speaker 3>I thought it was a really cool, really innovative idea. <v Speaker 3>But yeah, Jank doesn't surprise me. And if they were <v Speaker 3>hoping for this to kind of steer the ship on <v Speaker 3>Starfield where it can maybe make a recovery tour, I <v Speaker 3>think it's got to go back into the shop for <v Speaker 3>a little while. <v Speaker 1>Yep, yeah, I mean I would for me at this point, <v Speaker 1>let's begin sunsetting it. Let's get to work on Eller <v Speaker 1>scroll six that that you know. I've been watching Chuck <v Speaker 1>plays Mister Ristopheles in Nine Lives for the last several weeks, <v Speaker 1>and boy, I like Skyrim a whole bunch. I know <v Speaker 1>it's not for everybody, but it is very much for me, <v Speaker 1>and I just need, I do need them to recapture <v Speaker 1>the magic with this next game. <v Speaker 2>It's a tall it's a tall ask, but they need <v Speaker 2>to figure it out, all right. <v Speaker 1>Let's see here new poll question. We'll get to it <v Speaker 1>here in a second. Before we do that, though, Jason, <v Speaker 1>why don't you tell people where they can find you <v Speaker 1>on the internet, what you have going on, all that <v Speaker 1>good stuff. <v Speaker 2>Tell them about Opening Night as well. <v Speaker 4>I will so. <v Speaker 3>Jason Fonelli dot Com, one Blue Sky, big Man Finelle <v Speaker 3>on Instagram. That's where I'm really mostly active. A couple <v Speaker 3>of business things I could talk about. Did review Pragmata <v Speaker 3>for MMORPG, as I mentioned. Also a good friend of <v Speaker 3>mine named Eddie and Zodo, the second editor I ever had, <v Speaker 3>Gamer Node in two thousand and nine, has a retro <v Speaker 3>gaming podcast called Smashing Bricks, and he invited me on <v Speaker 3>to talk about Super Mario sixty four Mario being very <v Speaker 3>relevant right now. Galaxy Movie Out talked about that for <v Speaker 3>an hour that was great, and then the Patreon exclusive <v Speaker 3>like little side episode where we tier listed the three <v Speaker 3>D Mario games. We did sixty four Sunshine Galaxy and <v Speaker 3>Galaxy to three D Land, three D World Odyssey, and <v Speaker 3>we counted Bowser's Fury as its own thing to have <v Speaker 3>an even eight, so that if you subscribed to the <v Speaker 3>Patreon as little a dollar a month, I think you <v Speaker 3>can get access to that too, and you can yell <v Speaker 3>at me for my choices that did that, and then <v Speaker 3>I don't know if it's out yet. Last night, the <v Speaker 3>radio fellas that I used to work with when I <v Speaker 3>had my podcast here in Philly, Cheesigs and Controllers, brought <v Speaker 3>me on for the annual wrestle Mania round table talked <v Speaker 3>about WrestleMania coming up on Saturday and Sunday and how <v Speaker 3>we feel about that. For better or for worse. Pat <v Speaker 3>McAfee spoiler can go fly a kite. And then, yes, <v Speaker 3>as you you mentioned, my theater group opens this Friday, <v Speaker 3>six shows Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Friday Saturday Sunday out here <v Speaker 3>in suburban Philadelphia, The Little Mermaid. My daughter Olivia is <v Speaker 3>flounder for three of those six shows, her first ever <v Speaker 3>leading role, her first ever speaking role. If I'm really honest, <v Speaker 3>very excited about that final dress rehearsal is this evening. <v Speaker 3>So if you do happen to follow me on those <v Speaker 3>social media's, be prepared for a lot of fish, because <v Speaker 3>it's going to be coming for the next two weekends. <v Speaker 3>I am just a chorus guy this time, five different costumes. <v Speaker 3>I do like how this theater group likes to take <v Speaker 3>some creative liberties with their plays that will probably make <v Speaker 3>a certain Mike Minatti sick. Like under the Sea, We're <v Speaker 3>a bunch of sea creatures. We're a bunch of sea creatures. <v Speaker 3>They told me I could be a turtle. They told <v Speaker 3>three different guys we could be turtles and we're all <v Speaker 3>on the same line. If there's four turtles, we have <v Speaker 3>to be certain turtles, right of course. <v Speaker 2>Actually he would like that, I. <v Speaker 3>Bet I am Leo. And then we have Mike, Donnie <v Speaker 3>and Raf. We we always have a number that we <v Speaker 3>shoehorn in that lets the kids be featured. And right <v Speaker 3>in the beginning, we're gonna let them do baby shark <v Speaker 3>its under the sea. It makes sense. Another creative liberty <v Speaker 3>we've taken there. We have a lot of fun with this. <v Speaker 3>We used to call ourselves a drinking group of a <v Speaker 3>theater problem. So it's it's real low key, it's a <v Speaker 3>lot of fun. Yeah, it's it's it's I'm very excited. <v Speaker 3>So look for the pictures this weekend, and yeah, it <v Speaker 3>should be good. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely, that's fantastic, tell you what you know. Changing gears <v Speaker 1>a little bit. I keep seeing all these great d <v Speaker 1>coms happening on PC. The one I just discovered I <v Speaker 1>did not hear about. This happened a month ago. Street <v Speaker 1>Fighter three third Strike got decompiled, and I just I <v Speaker 1>need the community to go fucking nuts on that because <v Speaker 1>I need to see just everything that they can do <v Speaker 1>to make that the best version it possibly can be. <v Speaker 1>Give me a version of Warrio ware that it's just <v Speaker 1>very very ations on stuff that happened since Street Fighter three, <v Speaker 1>Third Strike. <v Speaker 3>That would rule the trials. Yeah, in the three sixty <v Speaker 3>version where you had to do EVO thirty seven. Yeah, yes, exactly, <v Speaker 3>that would rule. Oh my god, just do a ton <v Speaker 3>of stuff with that, everybody. Let's get to work. <v Speaker 1>Okay, did I do the new pole? With new pole questions? <v Speaker 1>See right here? Are you getting forts Horizon six in May? <v Speaker 2>Yes? <v Speaker 1>No, No, I'll get it later, and no, I'll wait <v Speaker 1>for the PS five release. Go ahead and drop your <v Speaker 1>response in that poll on YouTube. On YouTube dot com <v Speaker 1>slash at Giant Bomb, you go to the post tabs. <v Speaker 2>You can find it there. <v Speaker 1>We'll get the results, talk about it on the show <v Speaker 1>tomorrow here on Giant Bomb, speaking a Giant Bomb, it <v Speaker 1>is Wednesday. <v Speaker 2>It's time to return to the Blake Club minds. <v Speaker 1>Dan's got like forty minutes left in space Ace everybody, <v Speaker 1>and I'm not even next. <v Speaker 2>It's Jacob Geller next. I'm never gonna have to play <v Speaker 2>a game again. Thanks are good. <v Speaker 1>Things are good. But yeah, let's tune in for that today. <v Speaker 1>I think he's going to continue figuring this game out. <v Speaker 1>I think people are going to be surprised by how <v Speaker 1>much a Procyc mix today. So let's get in there <v Speaker 1>and see what that looks like. Looking forward to it myself, <v Speaker 1>and then of course to the rest of the expected stuff <v Speaker 1>will be happening on Giant Bomb, but you should go <v Speaker 1>read Dan's review for Tomadaci Life on the website right now. <v Speaker 1>All right, I think we're good. I think we cleared <v Speaker 1>everything up. Jason Finelli, thank you so much for hanging <v Speaker 1>out with me today and talking about video games. <v Speaker 2>Man, I really appreciate it. <v Speaker 3>Always a pleasure, always here to help. And until next time. <v Speaker 2>Thank you everybody for watching. Thank you everybody for listening. <v Speaker 1>No, we can't talk about Dan's mainline came list right now. <v Speaker 1>I need I'm too shoot out about it, everybody, We'll <v Speaker 1>talk about it next time. Thank you once again, You're <v Speaker 1>the best audience in gaming. Until next time, have a <v Speaker 1>good one, take care of yourself. <v Speaker 2>Goodbye.
