Speaker 9: Yeah, I think there should be more fights. And I actually I'm a little upset because with the way baseball and the way sports in general are structured now, there's no loyalty anymore. The rivalries are falling upon Nobody really hates each other anymore, and the hate in basketball and baseball and sports is one of the things that makes it awesome. Like the first fight I can remember seeing live that really fired me up was when Kevin Mcca in nineteen eighty four NBA Finals, Kevin McHale close lines Kurt Rambis and everybody squares off kream Abdul Jabbar was ready to throw like it was on and that, frankly, that fired up the Celtics and they ended up winning that series probably because of that fight.

Speaker 2: Real heated rivalry, lasting memory heat a rally you're your favorite TV show, But yeah, like when rivalries meant something, And I think that is what made it cool to see last night, is that there was some real animosity there for a minute, and the players care. You want to know that the players care side though, that was Bryce Harper who backed you up.

Speaker 2: Every team has their announcers, and usually what is a broadcast team in baseball usually a really good play by play guy and maybe a couple legends from that team's past. Yeah, the old timers love to talk about how, well, back in my day, a guy would to do that because he would get some high inside heat.

Speaker 9: Well, I'll give you my favorite example, my very favorite fight in the history of sports is exactly that nineteen ninety three. Okay, a twenty six year old Robin Ventura facing forty six year old Nolan Ryan takes exception to Nolan Ryan plunking him with a pitch, charges the mound, and Nolan Ryan just beats the crap out of it. Nuncle Sandwich so good.

Speaker 2: Mike runs his place and he runs this take, and what he's saying is a nice brawl every once in a while is good for the game. And the best ever was Ventura Nolan Ryan so memorable. Everybody could remember maybe where they were when that happened. But we've all seen the highlight a million times now. If you're a fan of baseball or just a fan of a good fight, that legendary Nolan Ryan Robin Ventura fight has an amazing backstory.

Speaker 2: Yeah, but that ass whoop, it has a backstory. I don't even know if Big Mike is your favorite fight, I don't even know if you know the backstory. Let me tell everyone, please, If you've watched the documentary, which I think is a must watch, not only for baseball fans, were all sports fans facing Nolan that's a good one. Not only do you realize that this guy's a rancher at heart and just sort of is great at baseball but loves ranching more than baseball. His wife is the reason he played all those years because she was the most ultimate supportive, amazing wife. Yeah, but more of his whole story is behind every great man, there's a great woman, and she was there for him every step of the way. I was also fascinated by Nolan Ryan didn't have a pitching coach until like halfway through his career. We forget baseball is evolved, and I thought it was interesting that fight. From both perspectives, it was weird. Nolan Ryan was a legend at that point who had learned his lesson if someone if you hit someone and they go to charge you, you be the aggressor. He learned early on when he had hit a few guys that I can't I'm a big guy, I'm ol Ryan, I need to be the aggressor. Because he had learned the hard way, you don't want to be the guy like running away or backing up plus the guy from in a Batter's box is running full speed at you most of the time.

So there was a reluctance from Robin Ventura and an aggressiveness from.

And I personally think baseball brals are the most fun because because the whole team comes out and you know, as to what our callers said, before about the bullpens. Yeah, if both bullpens agreed to not do that, then it would work. But when one bullpen clears, the other has to clear just to make it an even fight.

You see which guys are wearing the nuts like you. You know what what's cool about it is it brought so much camaraderie and chemistry and it proves to everybody that we're in this together. We got each other's back, and that ninety eight team is arguably the greatest team in baseball history, right, So I think there is something healthy to the building of that, that chemistry and camaraderie. So that's my personal favorite. But I think the all time answer that Trump's, which, by the way, the Nolan Ryan went is so classic. So it's debatable eight seven seven ninety nine, O Fox, if we're talking all sports ismouse at the Palace two thousand and four, because not only were the teams going at it, but you had fans going against players.
