<v Speaker 1>He'll be bad. It's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do <v Speaker 1>this for December eighteenth, twenty twenty four. For the next <v Speaker 1>hour or so, let me help you sort through the <v Speaker 1>world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings Live with me <v Speaker 1>Jeff Grubb. Today is skimmity toilets still popular with the <v Speaker 1>kids because they're putting it in Fortnite. But first please <v Speaker 1>join me and welcome in today's co host to Game <v Speaker 1>Mess Mornings. It's Sean Turbo, Sean McDowell. Sean, how are <v Speaker 1>you doing? <v Speaker 2>Is that why you brought all the GB kids in? <v Speaker 2>Because I hate to disappoint you, Jeff, I don't. <v Speaker 1>Know what you know less about skimmity toilet than I do. Actually, <v Speaker 1>that's right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, about that from you like a month or two <v Speaker 2>ago or whever. <v Speaker 1>That's right. We're we're letting Lucy take it easy today. <v Speaker 1>So you jumped in for us. Yeah, how are you doing? <v Speaker 2>I'm good, a little tired. We had a very busy <v Speaker 2>week last week that I'm still catching up on sleep <v Speaker 2>from ye pretty much. <v Speaker 1>Yep, absolutely didn't really have a I mean, we went <v Speaker 1>to Universal, so of course we did some fun stuff <v Speaker 1>on the weekend. <v Speaker 2>But people can see my little plush. He's back there. <v Speaker 2>I got my background now a little snowman Mario and stuff. <v Speaker 1>That's oh my, yeah, that looks really good. <v Speaker 2>Marty McFly, Hello, Kitty is like on my shoulder right here. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that was a very cute. Uh yeah, I had <v Speaker 1>a good time. But you know, no real weekend where <v Speaker 1>it's like we could just take these of your take <v Speaker 1>care of stuff. So we just hopped right back into <v Speaker 1>this week and so yeah, I'm feeling a little bit exhausted, <v Speaker 1>but feeling good like it was a good time had <v Speaker 1>I felt like we got a lot done out in <v Speaker 1>Los Angeles, how about you? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, definitely we did some good shows. I'm probably what <v Speaker 2>we did with the countdown stream. I think you did <v Speaker 2>a fantastic job hosting at night. And we had a <v Speaker 2>really fun time doing our Game of the Year discussions, <v Speaker 2>all all four days of them back to back to <v Speaker 2>back is how we recorded them. But that was that <v Speaker 2>was a blast. I'm glad we uh like we've been teasing. <v Speaker 2>We went back to more of an old school format <v Speaker 2>for the top ten too. That was a really good discussion. <v Speaker 2>I think a little a little little debating, a little <v Speaker 2>arguing sometimes here and there, but you know, I think <v Speaker 2>at the end of it, we were proud of what <v Speaker 2>we put together. We had a lot of fun doing it, <v Speaker 2>and we were all cool afterwards, so you know, it's <v Speaker 2>all good stuff, right, Yep. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely, it was definitely something that I was happy to <v Speaker 1>get back to. Yeah, I think of the game of <v Speaker 1>the years are done here. I don't think we've really <v Speaker 1>done that style that we immediately went into the yeah, <v Speaker 1>Eurovision style, and you know, part of me, I think <v Speaker 1>prefers this way of doing things. <v Speaker 2>Right because at least that way if there are things <v Speaker 2>that we want to debate, like I won't spoil a <v Speaker 2>frame one, but like we had a like you and <v Speaker 2>me in particular, had a convocated discussion about one of <v Speaker 2>those things, but we talked it out, and I think <v Speaker 2>doing the Eurovision style, we wouldn't have had that discussion. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>And I think having that discussion for the people is <v Speaker 2>better content and it, like you know, it gets us <v Speaker 2>in the mindset of how we want our list look <v Speaker 2>and everything. So I think I think it was better overall. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I agree. I'm glad we get to have those conversations. <v Speaker 1>I think there are the conversations that listeners we're gonna <v Speaker 1>have like in the comments or whatever. But now now <v Speaker 1>they can hear us have it so and it was like, oh, well, <v Speaker 1>asked and answered. Yep. Looking forward to that stuff getting <v Speaker 1>out there, looking forward to having some time off here <v Speaker 1>pretty soon as well. That'll be good for the holidays, <v Speaker 1>so those podcasts will go up Christmas, New Year's look <v Speaker 1>out for all that stuff during out during those weeks. <v Speaker 1>It'll be two one week to another. All right, let's <v Speaker 1>explain what we do here most weekdays. I, Jeff Grub, <v Speaker 1>will help peace your gaming life back together. That includes <v Speaker 1>breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting. <v Speaker 1>For all these topics, I'll get the input of a <v Speaker 1>bona fide expert who will make me look smart. If <v Speaker 1>you are watching live on twitch welcome. You can always <v Speaker 1>listen to the show later on podcast feeds by searching <v Speaker 1>for Games Mornings, or find the RSS on giant bomb <v Speaker 1>dot com. You could also catch the show later with <v Speaker 1>chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube. All right, we <v Speaker 1>have a lot to get into, so let's start the <v Speaker 1>morning mess with November twenty twenty four US video game sales. <v Speaker 1>This is from Matt Piscatella at Sircana. Let's just hop <v Speaker 1>right into it. He posted all this on Blue Sky. <v Speaker 1>I'm just copying it from that. Projected November twenty twenty four, <v Speaker 1>US consumer spending on video game hardware, content, and accessories <v Speaker 1>fell seven percent when compared to a year ago, to <v Speaker 1>five point eight billion dollars. Year to date spending is <v Speaker 1>flat last to year to last year, which you know, <v Speaker 1>the we'll get into the details here pretty quick. The <v Speaker 1>following seven percent not too alarming because last year's November <v Speaker 1>had a new Call Duty. This year, that Call of <v Speaker 1>Duty came out in October, so that was gonna be <v Speaker 1>a little bit of a a you know, and you <v Speaker 1>compare from one year to thet nex. That was always <v Speaker 1>going to be difficult. And then the fact that year <v Speaker 1>to date spending is flat through this point of the <v Speaker 1>year is actually much better than what people were anticipating, <v Speaker 1>so I think. So things are pretty okay for video <v Speaker 1>games overall. But yes, total video game sales down seven percent. <v Speaker 1>Video game content is where most of those losses were at, <v Speaker 1>down nine percent. Again, that was because Call of Duty <v Speaker 1>came out October last year, or no November last year. <v Speaker 1>In October this year, video game hardware was flat, and <v Speaker 1>then video game accessories were up four percent, so not <v Speaker 1>too bad. Let's see here. The November spending decline was <v Speaker 1>driven in part by the debut of Call of Duty <v Speaker 1>Black Op six in October this year. While Call of <v Speaker 1>Duty was more modern Warfare three launched during the November <v Speaker 1>tracking month a year ago. Video game content spending dropped <v Speaker 1>nine percent versus a year ago to four point five billion. <v Speaker 1>Growth in mobile and non mobile subscription content spending was <v Speaker 1>offset offset by dips across other areas of content. Console <v Speaker 1>content spending was the biggest contributor to the decline, following <v Speaker 1>twenty nine percent versus a year ago. Here's something worth <v Speaker 1>noting that non mobile video game subscription spending grew eight <v Speaker 1>percent when compared to a year go. That's because of <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty as well, So apparently that really did <v Speaker 1>have a pretty big positive impact on game Pass and <v Speaker 1>at the same time, the game sold very well at retail, <v Speaker 1>so they kind of got the best of both worlds <v Speaker 1>with that one. <v Speaker 2>Huh, right, And that's I think what their strategy is <v Speaker 2>in general moving forward as we look too stories about <v Speaker 2>them not wanting to keep as many things exclusive a <v Speaker 2>or if anything for that matter, Because this is what <v Speaker 2>I've been saying for a long time, they get all <v Speaker 2>the money, Like, maybe things look different in the in <v Speaker 2>the near term, but yeah, if you can get your <v Speaker 2>subscription to grow while also gaining the traditional model over <v Speaker 2>their own PlayStation, it's kind of a win win, right. <v Speaker 1>That's right, Yes, I mean that seems to be where <v Speaker 1>they're head. We talked about it on BombCast yesterday that <v Speaker 1>there was the story going around that they're done with exclusives. <v Speaker 1>If anything, they have timed exclusives like Indiana Jones going forward. <v Speaker 1>Seems like they're going to pull off that band aid <v Speaker 1>and just do that, and then the result is probably <v Speaker 1>going to be mostly positive for them. Where you know, <v Speaker 1>the people that are into game Pass now likely most <v Speaker 1>of them likely won't just abandon it to go like, <v Speaker 1>well then I'll just go get a PlayStation and buy <v Speaker 1>the games there. They seem to be happy with this <v Speaker 1>way of doing things, so they can maintain that, maybe <v Speaker 1>grow it here or there with something like a new <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty or a massive new Game of the <v Speaker 1>Year game maybe that they might release that could still <v Speaker 1>grow that side of things, and then everyone else could <v Speaker 1>just buy those games on Steam and PlayStation or Xbox <v Speaker 1>just get the retail copy, and yeah. <v Speaker 2>It's options, and options are good for the consumer, even <v Speaker 2>if you know, you might feel a little weird if <v Speaker 2>you've invested in an ecosystem, But I think we've sort <v Speaker 2>of taught that one to death at this point. It's <v Speaker 2>ultimately going to be good for everyone. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely. From the top twenty best selling games of the month, <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty was number one, Madden NFL twenty five, <v Speaker 1>number two, EA Sports Football Club twenty five at number three, <v Speaker 1>EA Sports College Football twenty five at number four, it <v Speaker 1>jumped back into the top ten. Apparently some sales helped <v Speaker 1>with that Dragon Ball sparking zero number five after being <v Speaker 1>number two last month. <v Speaker 2>Still hanging around. <v Speaker 1>Oh, that game's selling very well. Yes. Super Mario Party <v Speaker 1>Jamboree up to six after being number seven last month. <v Speaker 1>Mario and Luigi Brothership actually sold less than the Super <v Speaker 1>Mario Party Jamboree in its second month. Mario Luigi Brothership <v Speaker 1>new release at number seven. Yeah, I mean, I think <v Speaker 1>you'd like to see it maybe be above there in <v Speaker 1>its first month, like it's debut month on the chart, <v Speaker 1>but no, couldn't and it's never well, yeah, not as <v Speaker 1>well again. <v Speaker 2>I guess Mario Party in any metric for sure. <v Speaker 1>Yep Sonic Across Shadow Generations was number eight, number nine <v Speaker 1>NBA two K twenty five and number ten Dragon h <v Speaker 1>The Vailguard after being number six the month before, so <v Speaker 1>that was also still hanging around that. I know there's <v Speaker 1>some questions about has that game hit. It's clearly not <v Speaker 1>hitting as hard as as it possibly could, but you know, <v Speaker 1>still being in the top ten I suppose is something <v Speaker 1>of a good sign. And then yeah, the other new games, <v Speaker 1>Dragon Quest three was number twelve and my SIMS Cozy <v Speaker 1>Bundle number nineteen, So. <v Speaker 2>There you go, Mike Benic's favorite butt. <v Speaker 1>Yes exactly, he loves cozy bundles. Yeah. I don't know <v Speaker 1>any big takeaways from this month. <v Speaker 2>I mean, it's good to see Dragon Quest there, I <v Speaker 2>guess relative to the scale, because this doesn't quite say <v Speaker 2>yeah a number, I don't know how much, but it's <v Speaker 2>good to see an old school RPG, you know, at <v Speaker 2>least in the top twenty there relative to everything else <v Speaker 2>that's cool. Marvel you know, is there at the bottom <v Speaker 2>and number twenty NBC Collections, so it's good to see <v Speaker 2>people picking that up. I think also because of sales <v Speaker 2>and stuff. Yeah, I think maybe nothing too surprising this month, though. <v Speaker 1>Yep, same for year to date. E A Sports College <v Speaker 1>Football twenty five still the best selling game of the year. <v Speaker 1>There is more to that. We'll get to that story <v Speaker 1>here in a second Call of Duty Black Ops repeated <v Speaker 1>as the month's best selling video game, ranking as the <v Speaker 1>number two best selling game of twenty twenty four year <v Speaker 1>to date. Price promotion helped several titles gain in make <v Speaker 1>gains in the November sales rankings when compared to October. <v Speaker 1>That includes Madden EA Sports FC twenty five and Marvel <v Speaker 1>Spider Man two, which is number fourteen on the chart. <v Speaker 1>Stalker two hard Chernobyl debut at number six on the <v Speaker 1>Sircanada Player Engagement Tracker Monthly Active User chart on Xbox <v Speaker 1>Series during November, while also ranking ninth on Steam. The <v Speaker 1>title launched as part of Xbox Game Pass. November video <v Speaker 1>game hardware spending was flat compared to a year ago, <v Speaker 1>at nine hundred and twenty seven million dollars made across <v Speaker 1>all the hardware. Fifteen percent spending growth on PlayStation five <v Speaker 1>hardware was offset by a twenty nine percent year on <v Speaker 1>year drop in Xbox Series spending and a three percent <v Speaker 1>decline in switch spending. PlayStation five Pro accounted for nineteen <v Speaker 1>percent of total PlayStation five units sold in the month <v Speaker 1>and twenty eight percent of the dollar sales. So that's <v Speaker 1>you know, that's probably around what the expectations are going <v Speaker 1>to be for Place. <v Speaker 2>Five Pro in the long run. PS four pro was, <v Speaker 2>was it? Yes, So starting off at twenty and then <v Speaker 2>you'll eventually peter out that. <v Speaker 1>Peter It'll peter out, and you know it's got the <v Speaker 1>late start, like there's already a ton of PS fives <v Speaker 1>out there and there was exactly, So, yeah, that sounds <v Speaker 1>like that's how you get to an end of generation <v Speaker 1>split around ten percent by starting off at twenty percent. <v Speaker 2>Oh, bay way be partly forget chat. Remind me that <v Speaker 2>the NVC collection gots physical release that includes a comic <v Speaker 2>book in that month, and so those sales are probably <v Speaker 2>counting for it going from eighty seven to twenty on the. <v Speaker 1>Yes, exactly, So it was number eighty seven the month before, <v Speaker 1>jumped up to twenty. Yes, all right, let's hear anything <v Speaker 1>else worth mentioning the dual Yeah, the Dual Sense wireless <v Speaker 1>controller Midnight Black was still the best selling game pad <v Speaker 1>in terms of dollar sales. The month, yeah says. <v Speaker 2>Those things break like crazy, and people want the black <v Speaker 2>one because controller. <v Speaker 1>Yeah exactly, Okay, yes, and you know the Actually, this <v Speaker 1>might actually be the first month in a while where <v Speaker 1>the dual Sense Edge wasn't the number one selling thing <v Speaker 1>in dollar sales. But this is the kind of thing <v Speaker 1>that does sell really well during the holidays. A just <v Speaker 1>typical kise. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you pick it up as a second controller for <v Speaker 2>like the new console you're getting for yourself for someone else. <v Speaker 1>That's right, all right, So let's get in some of <v Speaker 1>the other stories from this. Nintendo Switch has now out <v Speaker 1>sold the PlayStation two in the United States. This is <v Speaker 1>from my Nintendo News. The official United States hardware and <v Speaker 1>sales trackers SIRCANA, has revealed today that the Nintendo Switch <v Speaker 1>has finally out sold the dominant PlayStation two console in <v Speaker 1>the United States. The Nintendo Switch family of systems has <v Speaker 1>now shifted over forty six points six million units since <v Speaker 1>launching in March twenty seventeen. This means that the Nintendo <v Speaker 1>Switch is now second only in the United States to <v Speaker 1>the best selling Nintendo DS console, which proved to be <v Speaker 1>a force to be reckoned with. This is the quote <v Speaker 1>from Matt piscatell A lifetime unit sales and Nintendo Switch <v Speaker 1>have now exceeded those of PS two, With its forty <v Speaker 1>six point six millions units sold life to date, Switch <v Speaker 1>now ranks second all time. I don't know if you <v Speaker 1>put out a number for what the DS is at <v Speaker 1>in the United States, it's probably not too much more <v Speaker 1>than that, but I could see it around fifty million <v Speaker 1>maybe in the United States. But hey, the Switch outsawing <v Speaker 1>PS two just in one country, a major market like this, <v Speaker 1>that's impressive. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it definitely is and not too surprising frankly that <v Speaker 2>the Switch has been a bit of a phenomenon, right, <v Speaker 2>and it feels equivalent to when the DS was around <v Speaker 2>and you saw it just absolutely everywhere, and the PlayStation two, <v Speaker 2>of course was just in most homes across the US <v Speaker 2>at that time because people want a DVD player. And <v Speaker 2>so it's impressive that Nintendo is still keeping this momentum <v Speaker 2>going with a dedicated gaming handheld that doesn't really do <v Speaker 2>anything else, like they're even closing some media apps on <v Speaker 2>that platform. So the fact that is just a dedicated <v Speaker 2>video game console that you'll pick up for yourself and <v Speaker 2>your family, or you'll buy a light for the kiddos <v Speaker 2>to play like Pokemon and stuff on. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>They're doing really well with it, and I think we're <v Speaker 2>seeing the results here yep. <v Speaker 1>I mean even the even though we had a benefit <v Speaker 1>of that media stuff right where, it's like that was <v Speaker 1>what a lot of people are to Netflix on and <v Speaker 1>the Switch just doesn't have any of that. Really. I <v Speaker 1>guess my kids sometimes watch YouTube on it, but that <v Speaker 1>feels unnatural. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I like so many discussions have been had before <v Speaker 2>just smart TVs and you know, chrome casts and nothing else. <v Speaker 2>Like everyone has a million ways to watch that stuff, <v Speaker 2>all right, so you don't need it. So yeah, that <v Speaker 2>Intendo focusing onbout stuff. I think people give them some <v Speaker 2>crap early in the generation, even I thought, man, this <v Speaker 2>is a little bare bones guys. You can put like <v Speaker 2>an apps page over there, like you know, the p's <v Speaker 2>five eventually got But nope, they focused and they put <v Speaker 2>out a good product and this is what we see afterwards. <v Speaker 1>Gotta say, as much as smart TV's are ubiquitous, I <v Speaker 1>used a YouTube TV on PS five, boy, that just <v Speaker 1>works way better on a very powerful console than on. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, when when you yeah, like insane hardware behind <v Speaker 2>those streaming apps, Like I still because I am a <v Speaker 2>PC hooked up to my TV, I'll oftentimes just like <v Speaker 2>fire up even sometimes that you can get the TV <v Speaker 2>versions of apps in your web browser, and I'll just <v Speaker 2>do that using my computer because all instant and snappy. <v Speaker 1>Yes, instant, that's what I'm surprised. You're You're right. <v Speaker 2>Using a console has always been the better way to <v Speaker 2>do that, even since like the three sixty era, when <v Speaker 2>those smart TVs first started to like hit the market <v Speaker 2>and they were slow, man, But using my three sixty <v Speaker 2>that was nice and snappy there, and like you know, <v Speaker 2>twenty twelve or whatever. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Yeah, I even even with that being the case, <v Speaker 1>I still just kind of use the TV because it's <v Speaker 1>more convenient. But I'm lazy. What am I? What am <v Speaker 1>I gonna do? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? We know, uh ea. <v Speaker 1>Sports College Football is now the US's best selling sports <v Speaker 1>game of all time. This is from James Batchelott Games <v Speaker 1>Industry dop is Electronic Arts. College Football game is now <v Speaker 1>the biggest selling sports video game in United States history <v Speaker 1>when it comes to dollar sales. That's according to the <v Speaker 1>November report from Sircana, which also reports the Sports College <v Speaker 1>Football twenty five is among the top fifty best selling <v Speaker 1>games of all time by the same metric. It is <v Speaker 1>also the biggest selling game of the year so far <v Speaker 1>in the United States. Price promotions drove the title back <v Speaker 1>into the top ten of the monthly charts, beaten out <v Speaker 1>only by Madden NFL twenty five and Call of Duty <v Speaker 1>Black Ops six. The latter was cited as a key <v Speaker 1>factor of blah blah, the stuff we already talked about. Yeah, hey, <v Speaker 1>this game really did just pop off in such a <v Speaker 1>massive way and continues to sell very well. But boy, <v Speaker 1>in that first week it kind of raced to the top. <v Speaker 1>It was the best selling game I think the incident. <v Speaker 1>It came out the best selling game so far of <v Speaker 1>twenty twenty four, and it hasn't relinquished that even with <v Speaker 1>a new Call of Duty coming out, which you know, <v Speaker 1>we don't get numbers from Sircana. We don't really get <v Speaker 1>numbers from these companies. But in the past, call Duty <v Speaker 1>comes out, it's instantly the number one best selling game <v Speaker 1>of the year unless there was a Rockstar game. So <v Speaker 1>the fact that EA Sports College Football was able to <v Speaker 1>maintain that just shows it was a massive, massive seller. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, very impressive. I guess I you know, I'm kind <v Speaker 2>of unfamiliar with why this phenomenon has been happening. I've <v Speaker 2>just been hearing about it happening. Do you do you <v Speaker 2>maybe want to give a brevi adversity of like why <v Speaker 2>this would be the case? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Yeah, So college football went away with EA Sports <v Speaker 1>NCAA Football in fourteen, which came out in thirteen, and <v Speaker 1>that went away because there was a lot of issues <v Speaker 1>with NIL like name, image, and likeness where that stuff were. <v Speaker 1>The companies weren't allowed to use that stuff back then. <v Speaker 1>Since then, there have been some Supreme Court cases that <v Speaker 1>have opened that up, and now college players can get <v Speaker 1>paid money for their name, their image, or their likeness. <v Speaker 1>EA has made an agreement with all the player that <v Speaker 1>are in the game to legally use that stuff. They <v Speaker 1>were able to bring it back, and there's been this <v Speaker 1>dearth of college football games for ten years. At the <v Speaker 1>same time that college football, which was already massively popular <v Speaker 1>in the United States, has only gotten more popular and <v Speaker 1>more ubiquitous because the college football playoffs have happened. And <v Speaker 1>now we have an expanded college football playoffs this year <v Speaker 1>with twelve teams in there. So it's bigger than ever, <v Speaker 1>a massive industry, and now this game is there to <v Speaker 1>capitalize on it. So there was this pent up demand <v Speaker 1>and this game just absolutely hit hard right at the <v Speaker 1>heart of that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, because the game is very good. From everything I'm here. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's really solid. You know, it's in the a <v Speaker 1>sports game. There's going to be some parts that are <v Speaker 1>less than but overall it's a really fun football game. <v Speaker 1>So I thought they doe a very good job with it. <v Speaker 1>I enjoyed playing it myself. Yeah, let's see here. Sticking <v Speaker 1>with these stories for a little bit, switched To is <v Speaker 1>projected to be the clear winner in the console generation. <v Speaker 1>This is from Ali Reynolds at Nintendo Life. <v Speaker 2>D Crystalbology to look into for this one. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Yeah, this is one where it's like, well, I'm <v Speaker 1>sure this is maybe the safe bet, but who knows <v Speaker 1>what's going to happen. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, let's hear them out here. <v Speaker 1>DFC Intelligence, a long standing research and consulting firm for <v Speaker 1>the video game industry, has projected that the upcoming switch <v Speaker 1>To will be the clear winner of the next generation <v Speaker 1>console A generation in its twenty twenty four Video Game <v Speaker 1>Market Report and Forecast. The report states that the switch <v Speaker 1>successor due to the due to be officially announced before <v Speaker 1>the end of March twenty twenty five, is projected to <v Speaker 1>sell between fifteen and seventeen million units in twenty twenty five, <v Speaker 1>provided Nintendo is able to maintain a healthy supply. Looking <v Speaker 1>ahead further, DFC states that it will likely reach eighty <v Speaker 1>million units by twenty twenty eight. As for the competition, <v Speaker 1>DFC predicts that both Sony and Microsoft should release new <v Speaker 1>systems by twenty twenty eight, but says that only one <v Speaker 1>of them will be successful. It refrains from specifying which <v Speaker 1>one at this point, noting that the hypothetical PSIX would <v Speaker 1>have the advantage of a loyal base and strong IP, <v Speaker 1>while Microsoft has the option to pursue alternative software and <v Speaker 1>distribution models. Okay, I mean, if we have to sit <v Speaker 1>here and make our bets today, is this sounds right? <v Speaker 1>But who knows? Right? <v Speaker 2>What's up the whole? Only only one Xbox or PlayStation <v Speaker 2>will be successful. I wonder which one? I know, Well, <v Speaker 2>you know Microsoft's are here with that this is an Xbox. <v Speaker 2>G I wonder which one they're talking about. <v Speaker 1>Yes, it's probably God, we get it. We know what's <v Speaker 1>going to happen there basically, Yeah, And then I think Yeah, <v Speaker 1>the switch to sort of comes out and is just <v Speaker 1>what everyone expects it to be, and then there's a <v Speaker 1>new three D Mario and a new Mario Kart and <v Speaker 1>a new Animal Crossing and all these things, and then <v Speaker 1>may be one or two surprises. This thing probably does <v Speaker 1>race to eighty million units by twenty twenty eight, which <v Speaker 1>puts this system far ahead of like where the PS <v Speaker 1>six is going to be launching in a few years, <v Speaker 1>although not that that matters all that much. <v Speaker 2>Right, No, I don't think so. This is all just <v Speaker 2>so funny and me because, of course, a Nintendo that <v Speaker 2>is doing well is going to do better than the <v Speaker 2>competition because of how entrenched the brand is, and that's <v Speaker 2>just always the way it's been. They've fluctuated, they've made <v Speaker 2>big old mistakes in the past, certainly, but when Nintendo <v Speaker 2>is firing on all cylinders, like, yeah, they do shoot <v Speaker 2>ahead the competition, as we saw with you know, with <v Speaker 2>the the DS and the Wii and now with the <v Speaker 2>Switch and everything. It, Yeah, it makes sense. It's just <v Speaker 2>going to happen, absolutely, yeah. <v Speaker 1>I mean there's always the chance that they beefit some <v Speaker 1>they get something wrong. The exact console is less exciting <v Speaker 1>than people realized, and then you look around in two <v Speaker 1>years and I'm like, man, people are not talking about <v Speaker 1>the switch to the way they talked about the Switch. <v Speaker 1>Maybe people are just over it. <v Speaker 2>Then as a yeah, as a sequel, unless it does <v Speaker 2>something revolutionary, you know, like the PlayStations of the PlayStation two, <v Speaker 2>it's going to sell less than the previous console, like <v Speaker 2>for sure, that just makes sense as well. It's that <v Speaker 2>way anytime you have a sequel to something. But as <v Speaker 2>long as they're not going, you know, down a we <v Speaker 2>to we you route where it's hard to convey what <v Speaker 2>the product is, then I think they're going to be <v Speaker 2>perfectly fine. Because if it's more of the same and <v Speaker 2>you just say, oh, it's if you just make it <v Speaker 2>very clear. It's so powerful and it runs these new <v Speaker 2>games that your old thing doesn't run, and you just <v Speaker 2>you know, make that marketing very clear, it's still going <v Speaker 2>to perform very well because people want the new Nintendo thing, <v Speaker 2>and in the long run, as the systems go down <v Speaker 2>price snary thing, they're going to say, my kids want <v Speaker 2>the new thing, and it's definitely going to be something <v Speaker 2>I buy if nothing else, because it probably gonna be <v Speaker 2>cheaper than a competition too, at least in the long run. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and it's like you said, it's entrenched advantages right <v Speaker 1>where it's having a Mario having Mario Kart heaving an <v Speaker 1>I'm acrossing these games that there are subcultures built around <v Speaker 1>that people just want, like Mario Party, Like this is <v Speaker 1>just what the family gets to play video games. Here's <v Speaker 1>the new one, all the new ones on the switch <v Speaker 1>to I guess it's been a few years since we <v Speaker 1>got a console, and it's only it's only this much <v Speaker 1>compared to that. You're right, all that stuff is just <v Speaker 1>built in, and then you know, very quickly the advantage <v Speaker 1>becomes and that's where Pokemon is, and it's like really <v Speaker 1>hard to oversteak how important that is. And and it's <v Speaker 1>like that is an automatic several tens of millions of <v Speaker 1>consoles sold because of Pokemon. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, Pokemon alone is such a wild advantage to <v Speaker 2>have because, uh, we we talked the other day about <v Speaker 2>like the most uh it was when we were doing <v Speaker 2>astrobot speed riding in Jordan was here and we were <v Speaker 2>like the most overrated video game series. I think about <v Speaker 2>that one a little bit, and you and Dan instantly <v Speaker 2>said Pokemon and me and Jordan were like, no, it's <v Speaker 2>not Pokemon because Pokemon fans hate. <v Speaker 1>Pokemon, so it's properly rated. <v Speaker 2>We just buy it anyway. But yeah, and I think <v Speaker 2>even if the the parents who are going to be <v Speaker 2>buying consoles in the next decade here are now from <v Speaker 2>our generation, and you know, it's like millennials buying consoles <v Speaker 2>for their kids, and obviously we are much more knowledgeable <v Speaker 2>as a generation totality of video games, and it's not <v Speaker 2>just oh, we know Mario and then after that, you know, <v Speaker 2>it kind of peters out a little bit. No, Like <v Speaker 2>people who are in their thirties and forties are aware <v Speaker 2>of video game culture in general as well as even <v Speaker 2>the casuals are just they know Mario, they know Mario Kart, <v Speaker 2>they know Smash, and so they will instinctively think to themselves, oh, <v Speaker 2>the thing to get for my kid is going to <v Speaker 2>be a switch slash switch to. So that's yeah, all <v Speaker 2>the advantages there to Nintendo. But that's why it's I <v Speaker 2>think impressive that currently the PS five is doing as <v Speaker 2>well as it is is because it's selling to I <v Speaker 2>guess a different market in general and doing very well there. <v Speaker 2>So I think that's That's also why that would be <v Speaker 2>the console to watch between the two Xbox and Microsoft, <v Speaker 2>or sorry, Xbox and PlayStation in the next generation. <v Speaker 1>Yep, all right, let's take a quick break. When we <v Speaker 1>come back, let's talk about Amy Hennig's Marvel game, which <v Speaker 1>should we have not mentioned in a little bit. We'll <v Speaker 1>do that right after this. All right, let's get right <v Speaker 1>back into it. Amy Hennig reveals new Marvel nineteen forty <v Speaker 1>three Rise of Hydra details and a little bit of <v Speaker 1>concept art the sirm Jordan Midler at VGC. Amy Hennig <v Speaker 1>has shown off new concept art from Marvel nineteen forty <v Speaker 1>three Rise of Hydra and discuss new details about the <v Speaker 1>forthcoming game. Marvel nineteen forty three Rise of Hydra was <v Speaker 1>revealed during an Unreal Engine showcase at GDC in March <v Speaker 1>and stars Drew Morrilane as Captain America and Carrie Payton <v Speaker 1>as Black Panther, with a release set for some time <v Speaker 1>in twenty twenty five. Hey led us to a bunch <v Speaker 1>of interesting things, Amy Hinnig told Entertainment Weekly Oneovich was <v Speaker 1>not only to tell a story about a young Steve <v Speaker 1>Rodgers who's still trying to find his feet as opposed <v Speaker 1>to the more seasoned guy that I've seen in a <v Speaker 1>lot of the films. It also let us introduce a <v Speaker 1>new black panther of nineteen forty three. The development team, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>The development team's Guidance Games is being led by Amy Hennig, <v Speaker 1>the director of the first three Uncharted games. It led <v Speaker 1>us to tap into all the things that I love, <v Speaker 1>all of the wonderful tropes of the World War two <v Speaker 1>era adventure films, classic men on a Mission movies and <v Speaker 1>all of that, And it continued, There's a lot of <v Speaker 1>intrigue in our story, a lot of twist and turns, <v Speaker 1>fascinating characters, and interesting locations. Hannig also debuted new concept <v Speaker 1>art from the game, which shows a glimpse at the <v Speaker 1>jungles of Wakanda and Marvel nineteen forty three. I might <v Speaker 1>have that, but I guess, I guess, Sean, I'm like <v Speaker 1>trying to let myself start to get excited about this one, <v Speaker 1>because I suppose it's starting to feel real. And I'm <v Speaker 1>someone who didn't ever like fully fall in love with <v Speaker 1>the first three Uncharted games, but then I played on <v Speaker 1>Charted four and it was in a different mood, and <v Speaker 1>it really hit pretty hard. And I know that wasn't <v Speaker 1>wasn't her as much, but it's definitely based on some <v Speaker 1>of the stuff that she was lead the foundation for. <v Speaker 1>I think I'm just in the mood for a big <v Speaker 1>adventure game these days. Coming off Indiana Jones, this sounds <v Speaker 1>like it might be right at my alley. Sounds like <v Speaker 1>that's what they're going for. How about you? <v Speaker 2>Is this a safe space where we don't have Mike <v Speaker 2>here so we can say that, Yeah, the unchared games <v Speaker 2>aren't as cray as he thinks they are. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah you could say that. I mean, he's still <v Speaker 1>gonna get mad at you. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, I still like them a lot because because <v Speaker 2>I grew up a big two Raider fan. Sure, but <v Speaker 2>they're kind of all the same game just they drop <v Speaker 2>ready here. <v Speaker 1>Yes, Chardy four was just still pretty. I couldn't help <v Speaker 1>but like it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, No, I did like playing the entire games a <v Speaker 2>lot back in the day. I do think four is <v Speaker 2>made the one that hit the most for me. And <v Speaker 2>so I know what you're saying there. It's why I'm <v Speaker 2>really looking forward to playing Indy here a little bit here. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, this, uh, this game is interesting because the <v Speaker 2>fact that it was. I didn't hear by it first <v Speaker 2>because it was revealed at that Unreal Engine GD showcase thing. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>and I was like, why would they be showing you there, <v Speaker 2>of all places, and then you'll watch it it's like, oh, oh, <v Speaker 2>this game is pretty looks yes, it looks real good. <v Speaker 2>And yeah, assuming that this is, you know, just like <v Speaker 2>all in engine real time stuff, even if it's cutscenes. Dang, <v Speaker 2>that looks good. <v Speaker 1>Yep, it's it's uh, I hope it comes out. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I didn't see key are Yeah, well yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 1>This is the the concept art of one of the <v Speaker 1>jungles in Wakanda, and yeah, looks very cool. But at <v Speaker 1>this point, it's like, man, I really still don't fully <v Speaker 1>know what to expect from this game. It also feels <v Speaker 1>like Marvel games are so treacherous for these developers, where <v Speaker 1>they put a lot of money into it, and will <v Speaker 1>they hit while they won't or will they not? Will <v Speaker 1>they miss completely? You know, the most recent example of <v Speaker 1>Marvel Rivals is something that hit very hard. This is <v Speaker 1>going to be very different, but I don't know. Maybe <v Speaker 1>that changes people to be in the mood for I've <v Speaker 1>been having fun with these characters in this game. Over here. <v Speaker 1>What else can I do? And maybe this game will <v Speaker 1>be waiting for them that sort of situation. It's hard <v Speaker 1>to say, but either way, I'm glad that Amy Hitty <v Speaker 1>got to make a video game. It's been a long <v Speaker 1>time and hey, and it'll be nice to hopefully see <v Speaker 1>this next year. <v Speaker 2>And if this game is going to carry maybe some <v Speaker 2>of the legacy that she worked on and having more of, <v Speaker 2>like say the PlayStation cinematic game feel to it, I <v Speaker 2>think a game that is MCU coded is a very <v Speaker 2>good choice for that, because that's kind of how those <v Speaker 2>movies have always felt to me. And so I think <v Speaker 2>this is a good fit together, right, Yep. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely, I think it's a good fit and has the <v Speaker 1>potential to kind of be the game that people were <v Speaker 1>kind of always hoping they would get from a Marvel <v Speaker 1>video game. You know. Obviously Spider Man has done exactly <v Speaker 1>that for a while now. But then I think people say, Okay, <v Speaker 1>now we're going to have a Captain America and Black <v Speaker 1>Panther game, and they imagine probably what this is going <v Speaker 1>to be and not necessarily what Marvel's Avengers was from Square. <v Speaker 1>So yes, I think there's a chance for this one <v Speaker 1>to do very very well. You know, could be next <v Speaker 1>year's Indiana Jones, right, that there's a real possibility that <v Speaker 1>that's how this goes down next year. Well okay, yes, <v Speaker 1>and next year's India Agens could just be Indiana Jones. <v Speaker 2>Still, for a lot of people, I'm not sure this <v Speaker 2>game is next year. <v Speaker 1>I mean, apparently it's supposed to come out in twenty <v Speaker 1>twenty five. You're right, say a lot of Jason. <v Speaker 2>We've seen no gameplay as far as. <v Speaker 1>I know, I think I'm with you on that that <v Speaker 1>I will be very surprised if this comes out next year. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>all right. Hell Divers two gets kill Zone cosmetics from <v Speaker 1>Alberto Garrido at Game Reactor, winner of Best Game or <v Speaker 1>Best Development Game and Best Multiplayer Game at the Game Awards. <v Speaker 1>Helldivers two is now in the midst of a new <v Speaker 1>campaign to expand democracy against the new faction of the <v Speaker 1>Illuminati or Squids, as the Super Earth propaganda machine has <v Speaker 1>already taken care to take care of. Tell each soldier <v Speaker 1>what the new truth or what the new propaga limbs here, <v Speaker 1>I'm got mixed up, but with the New Truth enforcers <v Speaker 1>war bond in all. But it's time to call in <v Speaker 1>some outside help. Arrowhead has just announced that it's the <v Speaker 1>first official Hell Divers crossover will begin, and it will <v Speaker 1>be with Gorilla games is now defunct kill Zone franchise. <v Speaker 1>Hell Divers will be able to equip hell Gas inspired armor, <v Speaker 1>which is hardly democratic, but that's another topic, as well <v Speaker 1>as a cape flag and title badge all based on <v Speaker 1>the game, plus the STA fifty two assault rifle, which <v Speaker 1>I think is also from Hell Divers. Hey, I'm sorry, sorry, <v Speaker 1>from kill Zone. This is weird, right, kill Zone being <v Speaker 1>the first one, I guess. I guess it makes sense <v Speaker 1>from a point of view of the aesthetics are pretty similar, right. <v Speaker 2>So we're dressing as the Nazis. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think you're dressing as the hell Gas. <v Speaker 2>Yes, as the hell gast Well okay, yeah, that. <v Speaker 1>Turns turns out you dressed as a fascist the entire <v Speaker 1>time in hell Divers too. <v Speaker 2>You know. <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Yeah, I don't know from the point of view <v Speaker 1>of hell Divers to bringing in any game, what could <v Speaker 1>they bring in? Uh? I guess kill Zone just wasn't <v Speaker 1>on my list because it's like, we would they want <v Speaker 1>to remind people about kill Zone. <v Speaker 2>But hey, I would have said that, like if it <v Speaker 2>was internal PlayStation. That's by far the one that makes <v Speaker 2>the most sense to me. <v Speaker 1>Sthetically makes the most sense, and I guess would be <v Speaker 1>easy to. <v Speaker 2>Do, especially if you're pulling from the first three rare <v Speaker 2>than shadow Fall once they went hyper futuristic like this. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>Helldivers is more of that aesthetic, more of the you know, <v Speaker 2>old fashioned trooper kind of a deal that they got <v Speaker 2>going on there. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. Do you do you think as Christian chattis screaming that. <v Speaker 2>He's Ye, he's freaking out. I'm happy for Christian. <v Speaker 1>Do you think that this has any implication for the <v Speaker 1>future of the kill Zone franchise? <v Speaker 2>Hell? No, Jeff, If nothing else, I would assume that. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Shadow Fall was a good game. It wasn't great, it <v Speaker 2>wasn't amazing, but the shadow Fall was very solid and <v Speaker 2>I would love it if they continued in that direction <v Speaker 2>like that. It was a fun time. It has issues, <v Speaker 2>but like the old school, kills Zone was never really <v Speaker 2>my thing because, if nothing else, it really contributed to <v Speaker 2>that era, being the gray and earthy, brown tone era, <v Speaker 2>you know, on the PlayStation side of things, it kind <v Speaker 2>of was to what Gears of War was a little bit. <v Speaker 2>I guess what may be equivalent of what those games <v Speaker 2>were doing for their respective platforms. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah, I think the likely scenario here is Sony's <v Speaker 1>just getting more comfortable with being like, hey, no, we <v Speaker 1>have these old franchises. We're not doing anything with them, <v Speaker 1>including kill Zone. But that doesn't mean we are trying <v Speaker 1>to put them in a little cage, you know, a <v Speaker 1>little box and then bury them forever. You could still <v Speaker 1>play around with that stuff if you want. Other development <v Speaker 1>teams that we work with, So yeah. <v Speaker 2>I mean especially yeah, like I'm bouncing Gorilla going back <v Speaker 2>to this because like, right, no way her Horizon's a hit, <v Speaker 2>and it's certainly a much happier thing to put out <v Speaker 2>there into the world in general. <v Speaker 1>And they it takes up a lot of their time. <v Speaker 1>They're constantly working on several Horizon projects. So yeah, I <v Speaker 1>think it's very unlikely that they take any of those <v Speaker 1>resources and put it towards a new kill Zone. In <v Speaker 1>Vidia's new app is causing large frame rate dips in <v Speaker 1>many games. Kyle Orland at Ours Technaco. When Invidia replaced <v Speaker 1>the long standing g Force Experience app with the new <v Speaker 1>unified Nvidia app last month, most GPU owners probably noted <v Speaker 1>the refresh and re rebranding with nothing more than amusement. <v Speaker 1>Now testing shows that running the new app with default <v Speaker 1>settings can lead to some significant frame rate dips on <v Speaker 1>many high end games, even when the app's advanced AI <v Speaker 1>features aren't actively being used. Tom's Hardware noted the performance <v Speaker 1>dip after reading reports of related problems around the web. <v Speaker 1>The sites testing with and without the Nvidia app installed <v Speaker 1>confirms that across five games running on an RTX forty sixty, <v Speaker 1>the app reduced average frame rates by around three to <v Speaker 1>six percent, depending on the resolution and graphical quality level <v Speaker 1>of the site's measure. Frame rate drop peaked at twelve <v Speaker 1>percent for Assassin's Creed Mirage running at TENA V Ultra settings. <v Speaker 1>Others tested included other testing games including boulders Gate three, Blackmith, <v Speaker 1>Wukong of Flight. Similar twenty twenty four in Stalker two <v Speaker 1>showed a smaller drop at most settings, But three to <v Speaker 1>six percent is not nothing. That's like sometimes sometimes you <v Speaker 1>can go from one GPU generation to the next and <v Speaker 1>stay in the same stack, and that's the performance improvement <v Speaker 1>that you get. It's like five to ten percent, So <v Speaker 1>that big of a hit is pretty rough. My understanding <v Speaker 1>is what's happening here is there are AI features in <v Speaker 1>the Filters that that you can apply to these games <v Speaker 1>inside the Nvidia app, and the Nvidia app brings all <v Speaker 1>this stuff into one place, and also is the thing <v Speaker 1>that enables you to upgrade your GPU using the app <v Speaker 1>without having to sign end. So there's benefits to this thing. <v Speaker 1>You're gonna want it to work out, yeah, without them <v Speaker 1>to sign in thankfully once, I know, but that's nice. <v Speaker 1>But apparently this the Filters app that you could apply <v Speaker 1>to any game, is just running into the background and <v Speaker 1>even when you're not using it, even when it's turned off, <v Speaker 1>it is using resources and causing Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I mean, those have always been there, but they haven't <v Speaker 2>been AI powered, so they haven't been using the hardware <v Speaker 2>of your GPU in the same way and to the <v Speaker 2>same level. <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, I mean, but I mean when you haven't <v Speaker 1>turned off, presumably they wouldn't affect your game at all. <v Speaker 1>So the fact that when you haven't turned off now <v Speaker 1>it's actually hurting the gameplay. The recommendation here is don't <v Speaker 1>use the NVIDI app until this is fixed, go back <v Speaker 1>to g Force experience, uninstalled the Nvidia app, or completely. <v Speaker 1>There's a way to completely remove those filters from the <v Speaker 1>Nvidia app. That's another thing you can do. <v Speaker 2>Those are what's doing it? Yeah, because those filters aren't <v Speaker 2>going to be a game changer. <v Speaker 1>Yeah you don't. I've got I think I looked at <v Speaker 1>those ones and be like, no, thanks, I'm okay, that's fair. <v Speaker 2>This has me wondering how well do those no new <v Speaker 2>Intel cards work on Linux? Because maybe I just I'm <v Speaker 2>ok make a new build. Maybe I just make the <v Speaker 2>jump in both directions. Screw it. I'm getting tired of Windows, <v Speaker 2>getting tired of Nvidia. What if I just you know, <v Speaker 2>what if I myself be the guinea pig and see <v Speaker 2>how that goes. That's where I'm at. <v Speaker 1>Stem os build with an Intel graphics card. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, a slapp either Ubuntu or because I wonder <v Speaker 2>do those work with bazite. I know Bazeit Striver's favor AMD, <v Speaker 2>but I'm kind of wondering. <v Speaker 1>About what they do. But yeah, I don't know. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I God, I'm just so tired of the PC space <v Speaker 2>slowly being ruined by the major companies not understanding what <v Speaker 2>players want and like in Nvidia is doubling down in <v Speaker 2>all this tech bro AI stuff and everything, and it's. <v Speaker 3>Like, we just want performance from the games, dude, we <v Speaker 3>don't want all of this added tact on stuff that <v Speaker 3>your app is going to like force on us and stuff. <v Speaker 2>So if your app is bad, boy, that's a bad <v Speaker 2>look because we kind of need it for our stuff <v Speaker 2>to work properly, you. <v Speaker 1>Know, yep, yeah, for sure. I I you know that <v Speaker 1>they don't. We don't want it. We're not asking for <v Speaker 1>this stuff, but investors certainly are and that's what they're <v Speaker 1>doing here. And it's yeah, also frustrating. <v Speaker 2>And Video has felt a little miss guy for a <v Speaker 2>while though, because one of the reasons I'm looking at <v Speaker 2>those new Intel cards is they got twelve gigs of <v Speaker 2>video memory on them instead of like the eight that <v Speaker 2>in Video keeps insisting that oh, that's all people need, <v Speaker 2>so that's all we get on there to cut us <v Speaker 2>for us and make a higher profit at like four <v Speaker 2>hundred dollars. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I dohn't know. <v Speaker 2>It's just it's feeling like with my next bill. I <v Speaker 2>think the smart thing to do is made to just <v Speaker 2>wait and see what Nvidia announces for their next generation. <v Speaker 2>See yes, yeah, it's gonna be the five thousand series. <v Speaker 1>Here. <v Speaker 2>Let me tell you, Jeff, if that fifty sixty that <v Speaker 2>they announced, if they announced it there has like eight <v Speaker 2>gigs of RAM. I'm just gonna say this, this company <v Speaker 2>has no idea what the hell they're doing. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's fair. I really am addicted to DLSS, <v Speaker 1>like I'm like, oh, I just need it on. I <v Speaker 1>don't even think about it at this point. It's like <v Speaker 1>it'd be hard for me to lose that. But not <v Speaker 1>even every game supports dls S yet, so I guess no. <v Speaker 2>But and what's important is that the alternatives are getting better. <v Speaker 1>Yes, Intel stuff actually is an x LSS or whatever. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, which, if you believe their old marketing, should be ZSS. <v Speaker 2>But god, I'm never going to call those z But yeah, <v Speaker 2>they're even FSR is getting a lot better, which is <v Speaker 2>important for consoles because that means the console players can <v Speaker 2>have this really cool ups going too, even if it's <v Speaker 2>not as good. That's really good to see. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>the people who do testing, like Digital Foundry and stuff, <v Speaker 2>they're saying that like XCSS, when properly implemented, like DLSS, <v Speaker 2>is kind of similar quality. So it's cool that people <v Speaker 2>are getting cheaper options that look good because you know, <v Speaker 2>the market leader doesn't want to do that right now, which, hey, <v Speaker 2>you know, I'm always trying to tell people PC gaming <v Speaker 2>is not as expensive as you think it is. If <v Speaker 2>you're sticking around console specs and you know, putting out <v Speaker 2>cheaper cards like Intel is doing, it's a good look <v Speaker 2>for the well. And Nvidia having issues with their app <v Speaker 2>here even is not a great look for them. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. I think ideally what comes out of this next <v Speaker 1>couple of years is those Intel cards that are two <v Speaker 1>fifty just crushed, just do very very well, and that <v Speaker 1>will sort of reset a little bit of the pricing <v Speaker 1>in the space because the other companies will have to <v Speaker 1>get competitive. And I think AMD was not forcing Nvida <v Speaker 1>to be as competitive as as they once were, and <v Speaker 1>maybe Intel can force the issue a little bit. It's like, <v Speaker 1>but yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, AMD didn't care as much as certain ployment, maybe <v Speaker 2>because of the CPU market they just overtook that instantly <v Speaker 2>with gamers. So I think maybe they just didn't care <v Speaker 2>as much about the the GPU side of things because <v Speaker 2>Nvidia just you knows, it's in everyone's computer, so they <v Speaker 2>just didn't see the point competing anymore. Yes, I'll say <v Speaker 2>Intel on those new cards, they're they're looking pretty noise. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Why is there an image of Mark Serny talking <v Speaker 1>about flop flation going around? I guess okay, place they <v Speaker 1>she was posted a thirty seven minute Mark Serny video <v Speaker 1>PS five pro Technical Seminar at Sony Interactive Entertainment HQ. <v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, I'd assume he's He would be talking about <v Speaker 2>how terra flops aren't the measurement that people think they are. <v Speaker 1>Oh yes, and that that number is they get bigger, <v Speaker 1>but it doesn't mean what people think it means. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's not the only measurement of the performance of <v Speaker 2>a piece of GPU and never, never. <v Speaker 1>Really was that useful. Okay, let's see your last story. <v Speaker 1>I have written down skibbity Toilet's reportedly flushing into Fortnite <v Speaker 1>this week. Hooray. This is from Blair Marnw at GameSpot. <v Speaker 1>If it's in pop culture, then it's going to inevitably <v Speaker 1>end up in Fortnite in some form or another. Now <v Speaker 1>it's apparently skibbity Toilet's turn to make an entrance into <v Speaker 1>the popular Battle Royal shooter game. Fortnite. Leakers spush fnbr <v Speaker 1>has what was the first report that a Fortnite Cross <v Speaker 1>Skivvy Toilet collaboration and will drop tomorrow, December eighteenth, with <v Speaker 1>a plunger Man's skin with a Lego variant for fifteen <v Speaker 1>hundred v bucks, as well as a Skibbity Toilet backpack <v Speaker 1>for six hundred v bucks and a pickaxe plunger Man's <v Speaker 1>plunger for eight hundred v bucks. The bundle for all <v Speaker 1>three will reportedly cost twenty one hundred v bucks. Skippity <v Speaker 1>Toilet is the creation of Alexi Garazimov, whose YouTube channel <v Speaker 1>series debuted a series of machinema shorts depicting a war <v Speaker 1>between toilets with human heads and the Alliance people who <v Speaker 1>have electronic devices in place of their heads. Earlier this year, <v Speaker 1>Garssamov reportedly entered talks with director Michael Beay regarding the <v Speaker 1>Skippity Toilet film and TV series adaptations. <v Speaker 2>I forgot about that part. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I forgot about that too, that's true, and I <v Speaker 1>remember we did talk about that, but I forgot about it. <v Speaker 1>Skippy Toilet is the guy's head, which hed is it? <v Speaker 1>The dude from Half Life two? And a toilet? <v Speaker 2>Which one is the g Man? <v Speaker 1>Is it? G Man? I thought I think g Man <v Speaker 1>might be one of the other creatures in the universe. <v Speaker 1>It is okay, people are saying it as g Man. <v Speaker 2>It's like, yeah, it's like g Man. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and so that's from Half Life and so yeah, <v Speaker 1>a little weird that now Skibbitty Toilet, which I think <v Speaker 1>actually they are genericizing the face a little bit to <v Speaker 1>bring it into Fortnite. That would be my guess is <v Speaker 1>like that would be the thing they have to change <v Speaker 1>because otherwise that this probably would turn into a copyright <v Speaker 1>infringement thing and Epic wouldn't want it. But I guess <v Speaker 1>Skibbity Toilet is maybe transformative enough that they feel comfortable <v Speaker 1>doing that, And I have to agree it's the most <v Speaker 1>transformative work of art this century, Sean, as you and <v Speaker 1>the kids must know. <v Speaker 2>I'm sure I had never heard of this shit until <v Speaker 2>you brought up in that one episode Game as Mornings. <v Speaker 2>I had to look you up, like, what the hell <v Speaker 2>is this man talking about? Yeah, then we did that <v Speaker 2>stream where it's in a game on. <v Speaker 1>Steam, and that's right. <v Speaker 2>I just don't kid the whole thing that they were <v Speaker 2>explaining there of like this whole big universe of the <v Speaker 2>toilets versus the humans or whatever. <v Speaker 1>It gets crazy, like the first video. First video is <v Speaker 1>just and as Hammond of Texas is correcting here, and <v Speaker 1>I appreciate this guy. That face in the twillt is <v Speaker 1>not g Man. It's a male City seventeen citizen, just <v Speaker 1>a random one. And then the G Man does show <v Speaker 1>up later as one of these giant like mechs, and <v Speaker 1>I think he's like on a giant toilet or something <v Speaker 1>like that, and he's got rockets on his shoulders. It's awesome, Okay, <v Speaker 1>it's the whole way that. Like, So the first video <v Speaker 1>starts with him just popping his head out of the <v Speaker 1>video and singing the Skibbity song, and then by like <v Speaker 1>the fourth episode, there's a giant war between like dudes <v Speaker 1>with cameras for heads and these massive toilets flying around <v Speaker 1>with rockets for shoulders. It's a beautiful thing. I don't <v Speaker 1>know how much of that's gonna make it in a <v Speaker 1>Fortnite though, I. <v Speaker 2>Just who cares? This is the old news, Jeff Christmas, <v Speaker 2>Mariah Carey is coming to Fortnite? <v Speaker 1>Well really, yeah, okay, I bet you're right. That's way more. <v Speaker 2>That's the good news this morning. <v Speaker 1>Like the cover from her like of her album Machine <v Speaker 1>and that out. Yes, like maybe the most Christmas image <v Speaker 1>that has ever been recorded by human beings. All right, <v Speaker 1>that's fantastic. Is that dropping tomorrow as well? <v Speaker 2>I have no idea, so I would just post it <v Speaker 2>from all these leakers I always see. <v Speaker 1>Okay, but it's probably coming very soon. So it's already <v Speaker 1>December eighteenth today, No one drop? <v Speaker 2>Oh that a song in festival too? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, there we go. Actually just be able to <v Speaker 1>play it on the the the menus and stuff. One <v Speaker 1>of the men Yeah, four nights back, I think so, <v Speaker 1>I think it might be back. All right, that's fun. Uh, <v Speaker 1>all right, we'll find out what else. Mark Serni is saying, <v Speaker 1>maybe talk about that tomorrow on the show. But I <v Speaker 1>think that does it for the headlines on this episode <v Speaker 1>of Game lest Mornings. Let's get to the poll question <v Speaker 1>which I have over here, and this is from a <v Speaker 1>long time ago, two weeks ago. It says nine days <v Speaker 1>so not as bad as sometimes have you played Marvel Rivals? <v Speaker 1>There it is twenty nine percent said yes, seventy one <v Speaker 1>percent said no. That was nine days ago. I suppose <v Speaker 1>people could have kept voting on this. I think that <v Speaker 1>numbers is just going to keep getting bigger. But that's <v Speaker 1>pretty big. I guess freaking that just just came out. <v Speaker 1>Twenty nine percent of respondents of the almost four people <v Speaker 1>four thousand people who voted saying that they have played <v Speaker 1>this game. I don't know. I have enjoyed what I've <v Speaker 1>played of this game, But when we were playing Call <v Speaker 1>of Duty last night, I was like, I'm good with <v Speaker 1>just sticking with Call of Duty for now. Is maybe <v Speaker 1>how I'm feeling personally. <v Speaker 2>They feel enough of different niches. I think they can <v Speaker 2>each stand alone. And I think a lot of people <v Speaker 2>are going to pass on Marvel Rivals because of how <v Speaker 2>much it is just Overwatch. And even if it's it's <v Speaker 2>like Overwatch remix basically, and that's I still find that <v Speaker 2>very fun, especially as someone who felt a little burned <v Speaker 2>by where they took Overwatch and then Overwatched two kind <v Speaker 2>of being a mess. I think it's I think Marvel <v Speaker 2>Rivals is a very fun time and they're doing a <v Speaker 2>lot of things right with it, like pulling it out <v Speaker 2>as free to play with a bunch of characters right <v Speaker 2>off the you know, right off the bad. I think <v Speaker 2>I think it's a quality game. I'm having fun with <v Speaker 2>playing with my friends. But I totally give people one <v Speaker 2>pass because they felt like they've been here and done that, <v Speaker 2>you know. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, or you know, even been there and done that <v Speaker 1>with Marvel stuff for the last decade and a half, <v Speaker 1>where it's like I'm just not excited about these things. <v Speaker 2>That's true too, Yeah, people have Marvel fatigue. Yep, I <v Speaker 2>get it. <v Speaker 1>I get it too. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Jeff breaking news on this whole Fortnite situation. I'm <v Speaker 2>hearing that it's not just Santa Maria, it is Santa <v Speaker 2>Snoop and Santa Shack as well. <v Speaker 1>Fantastic. Okay, I would like to do an oops all Shacks. <v Speaker 1>That would be fun. Oops all Shacks would because Santa Shack, though. <v Speaker 2>He has Christmas grenades on his belt. <v Speaker 1>What the hell, that's just how he lives. That's just <v Speaker 1>how we. <v Speaker 2>Oh, Nicky is saying we missed it. Checks on the Star. <v Speaker 1>Okay, Now Nicky's saying, wait wait. <v Speaker 2>Wait our Fortnight reporter on the ground mans crossed. <v Speaker 1>Well either way, yeah, I guess we'll find out we <v Speaker 1>are checking. <v Speaker 2>Okay, Okay, thank you, thank you, NICKI doing good work <v Speaker 2>out there. <v Speaker 1>You know. Then let's do this new poll question. Are <v Speaker 1>you still playing hell? Divers two. Kind of curious to <v Speaker 1>see how people are feeling about that. They've done a <v Speaker 1>lot of updates recently, a lot of new stuff, so <v Speaker 1>seeing if people are hopping back into there. We'll get <v Speaker 1>the results of that and talking about talk about it <v Speaker 1>here on Game mess Mornings on Giant Bomb. Speaking a <v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb GB at Night should be on the BombCast <v Speaker 1>feed and the GB Presents feed today. The video should <v Speaker 1>also be on the website, so if you're looking for that, <v Speaker 1>go go ahead and track that down, right. It was <v Speaker 1>a good time, really enjoyed talking everybody. <v Speaker 2>Definitely, Yeah, it was fun to watch. <v Speaker 1>Good good, glad, Glad you're able to make it. It was <v Speaker 1>a it was a fun time. <v Speaker 2>It was nice hanging out there. <v Speaker 1>Also speaking to Giant Bomb, we're going to play Marvel <v Speaker 1>Rivals here in a little bit on the website of <v Speaker 1>looking forward to that. That's right. I gotta make sure <v Speaker 1>I'm updated because there was a big update, wasn't there. <v Speaker 2>It's a small download. It's a big patch is what <v Speaker 2>is like decompress It's very large. <v Speaker 1>It looks like it might have been updated already. It <v Speaker 1>might be good, Okay, fantastic, So we'll do that we'll <v Speaker 1>have a voicemail dump truck this week. We're going to <v Speaker 1>try to get the first episode of Dan's new season <v Speaker 1>of Blake Club going this week, so look out for <v Speaker 1>all that. Anything else she mentioned, Sean, I can't remember. <v Speaker 2>No, I think we're pretty much caught up there. Apparently <v Speaker 2>four Sorts Fiesta is happening here on Giant Bomb, as <v Speaker 2>well as a PlayStation showcase. I wonder how long that's <v Speaker 2>been in this document. <v Speaker 1>That's where it lives now. Yes, I changed that a <v Speaker 1>lohile have not changed that for a minute. All right, Sean, <v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today <v Speaker 1>and talking about video games. Man, I really appreciate it. <v Speaker 2>Oh, it's a fun time. <v Speaker 1>Thank you all for listening, Thank you for watching. You're <v Speaker 1>the best audience in gaming. Until next time, have a <v Speaker 1>good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
