Does that mean, oh yeah, baby, Hi, Hi, everybody,
welcome energy back into yourself. Yeah, I'm both a little or a little
I'm a little say both. Yeah, you're probably fine. I'm raring to
go. Okay, good, I'm a little flat. I'm a little tired
and stressed and everything, but I'm excited to be here. What episode is
this? My back end is not loading at all. Oh you need a
minute. You're right, look at your back end. It's seventy four.
It's number seven, seventy four. Welcome in episode seventy four. It is
a wow wows day here on the East Coast. It is one pm.
I am, of course what from the YouTube channel beat him ups and I'm
with my lovely adorable friend here Bob he channel wolf Den Say hi Bob,
Hi, Hey, I'm here. Hello. How are you doing? Yes?
Subscribe seventy four episodes in, we finally introduced ourselves. Like that one
guy wanted on the Apple reviews. There's a lot of one guys in our
comments, and I don't appreciate it. You know what I'd appreciate if everybody
just stopped commenting. No, no, no, no, no no.
I did not endorse that mega. We need and the engagement. I did
see people are asking for time stamps in the episodes, and I think that's
a good idea. But if you want time stamps, can you do it
for us in this episode? Somebody leave a comment with all the time stamps
and then just update it with all the stuff that we do, and then
we'll try to just put it in the discription. Yeah, well, we'll
place it in the description. Also, if anyone wants to retroactively go through
seventy three episodes, that would be great. I have a guy that does
that for a Wolf Then podcast, but I'm not about to make him pull
double duty. No, we'll just make our fans do it. We have
a lot of stuff on our run sheet today of things that we wanted to
talk about. Oh yeah, baby. The main one being that Mario Wanda
comes out. I guess technically tomorrow, but as we all know, it's
today. It's for anybody savvy, we got the Wizard. The Wizard's coming
and giving us the game. You got the Wizards a whole day early.
It's a great day to be a Mario fan today. I'm very unfortunately do
not have a Wizard. I have a buying it from the Australian shop so
I can stream it early. You give it away, you give it away,
the the the sauce, that's that's not the wizard though, you know
that wizard. It's like it's like a mobile wizard. It's like it's like
a remote wizard. It's a goblin at best. Okay, goblin. You
got the goblin coming, and then tomorrow I gotta go and see the man
or the woman whoever is working at game stop and actually buy the thing.
I always end up buying the games twice because I stream them. And I'll
also do that because I like having the digital. I don't like having the
physical. I like always having it. Wow, you'll completely backwards. So
you get the physical early, and then you're like, well I need the
digital, whereas I'm stuck getting the digital. But then I need to get
the physical, the actual tangible thing that exists in reality. And I used
to give the physical away just because I don't need it anymore and it's a
good way to just give it to somebody. But now Hannah's like, can
I haven't. Oh. I was about to say, well we can sell
both our issues right now. Yeah, just given it to me. Uh,
well, the reviews are in, and other than a couple of outliers,
it seems pretty pretty perfect scores across the board, which is great.
I mean I would have expected a little, you know, it's like it's
not perfect. Perfect leaves a little I don't want to be a Debbie downer.
I haven't played it yet, but I highly doubt it's a ten out
of ten game. I confidently give it a nine. I say that about
everything. There's very very few games I would say you're perfect, and even
then I have things that I can complain about them, so maybe they're not
actually perfect. But as far as video games go, certain games can be
ten out of ten. I would I would feel more comfortable around a nine
for this one. But I think a lot of people just deal in absolutes,
especially these review companies. They don't want to upset anyone, so they're
like, if it's a nine, let's just give it a That's something I'm
always thinking of in the back of my head, like these companies have to
review the game before anybody else gets to review it, so they must,
and at least some of them. Why does this freaking trade thing coming up?
Some of these reviewers in the back of their head. I'm sure that
they're thinking of what everyone else is going to be thinking of the game,
and they don't want to upset anybody. But that's not how you should review
a game. Most and I should probably review it on their own opinion.
And that's why sometimes you get some crazy reviews that are really far out there
because those guys on, those guys are proba the ones you should trust.
Yes, the beauty of like Metacritic in places like that that congregate all of
these reviews is that you end up getting the average score, which is right
now before the game is even released, ninety three, which is the nine
out of ten that I was suggesting it might be just basically what I it's
no, it's high like it does seem to be a really great game.
I'm I'm excited. I am excited. I talk, I said, people
seem to think that I'm not wow wow, but I am excited to play
tonight. I'm gonna be live on Twitch. So are you on our respective
Twitch channels? Uh, it's my it's my return stream. I haven't streamed
in a month, so I'm excited for that too. I think it's going
to be a great time with my community. I'm gonna have a ton of
fun and uh yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to try
and finish it on stream. I don't know about tonight, but it depends
how long it is. I am going to try. I'm gonna blind speed
run it my first light. There's just going to be a straight speed run.
The how long to beat as uh nine and a half hours. Oh
so that's if you're uh, that's not too bad doing a doing a doing
a like swifty play for you know, if if you do completionists, it's
gonna be a lot more. But uh, I think you can make I
could if I go fast enough, I can bring that down to like six
easily. If you go fast. If you go fast, I think you
could do it in a few hours. I would, I would hope to
be able to do it in four, but well, I think it's gonna
be a little harder than that. The thing, the thing, I think
you're gonna be able to skip a lot of time with others open areas because
you just don't have to play any of those. Well, you might need
to play some because I think you're supposed to collect a certain amount of flowers
or something, So I'm gonna have to, like in the open areas,
I'm gonna have to pick a level a lot of the times, but I
could always skip it and go back if I if I need extra coins or
flowers or whatever they're called. But also there's the different abilities, and I'm
gonna have to gauge whether or not I'm gonna want those abilities because you have
to play a whole level to unlock that ability. So I'll have to look
at it and be like, do I really want the wall jump? Maybe
I don't, and then just skip it. So it's gonna be a weird
sort of strategizing. It's gonna be a different way to play the game the
way I'm gonna play it first, which is gonna be weird. I knew
you were doing that, and I actually thought about doing it too, because
I wanted to one compete and like try and see how we get time wise.
But also I would have been nice to just knock it out in a
stream, But I think for me having fun with the game, I'm gonna
want to take my time and explore it and yeah, just just dive into
it. And if it's a couple of streams. It's a couple of streams,
baby who can. Yeah, I'm a little concerned about not getting to
enjoy it the first play through, but I'm gonna want one hundred percent,
so I'll go back and do all of the stuff that I that I need
to do. So I'm probably gonna play it more than once because I don't
know if you know this. I like I know this, and I liked
Mario stuff, and I also excited love when we play the intro. I
am. I am very excited for you. I I think it's really cool
that we both get games this year. I mean we didn't really we haven't
really cool attention to that. But I got my Zelda and you're getting your
Mario, and you prefer the two D platform of Mario's, right, Yeah,
so this is like, this is a really big deal for me.
So I did look at some I did see some stuff online about the game
a little bit. I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself, but
I did hear that it might be a little easier than people would hope.
Oh, I'm expecting it to be baby baby mode. That's a little disappointing
because some of the best Mario games give you a little bit of challenge.
But I have also heard from multiple people that this is the best Mario since
the Super Nintento. So oh, the best d Mario. That's not hort
though. I'm very excited to hear that. But it's not a hot yeah,
I mean, but it's good news news. No, yeah, it's
good. I'm I'm that makes me very happy because, as we all know,
Super Mario World on stupid Nintendo is the best Mario hands down. I
mean, I'm not gonna argue with you. I think that. Uh no,
I've played it a lot of times. Oh, this is a joke.
This is a joke about how you've never played it. That is a
great Matrio. He's playing a game. It's good. That'd be a good
stream for you play through that game. You can play through it a one
stream. I might. I might. A lot of people in the comments
of last week when I brought that up were like, you should play it
because it's the best one other than like Mario three, which is my favorite
one. So uh yeah, But I have big gaps in my Super Nintendo
library. I just I just have massive gaps that I haven't played. Yeah,
no, I do. I mean, I do too. There's plenty
of games that I just have zero interest in playing that other pe people are
upset that I've never touched. But I also just don't like Mario as much
as much as pretty much any of Nintendo's other ips, which I know is
weird because it's their main one. But for me, I've always seen Zelda
as their main one. That's just my like nostalgia. I know, I
don't. I don't see it in terms of like how they promote their company
or how they market because they have like a whole Super Mario world and not
as Zelda world. But in my eyes, growing up nostalgia, all I
really knew was Zelda. All I cared about was Zelda. Zelder was my
big adventure, and that was Nintendo to me. I never thought of Mario
when I thought of Nintendo. Now I do, because it's like not thinking
about Mickey Mouse when you think of Disney. But growing up, if you
had ask me what I think of Disney, I probably would have said,
like Hercules, you know what I mean, I didn't really care for me.
I don't like Mickey Mouse either. I've always hated Mickey Mouse as a
character. I hate Mickey Mouse. Is that weird? Hating it is weird.
Yeah, he's like Mario with ears. I hate. I've never been
into Mickey Mouse. Really, Mickey Mouse, he's a weird guy. I
think our stream crashed for a second. Uh, obs disconnected, please reconnect,
there it goes, We're back, cool man, We back? Did
we crashed? We had a little crashy Obi has just disconnected and reconnected for
a second. Uh. Mickey Mouse didn't really have much when we were growing
up. There was no like Mickey Mouse cartoons or movies or anything. There
was, Yeah, and then that's it for like years. And I hated
that that thing with like the broomsticks where he was cleaning water or something,
and it was gave me anxiety as a kid. Yep. Yeah, it
was weird. It was bizarre and like a little scary for like a child
to Yeah, I really didn't like I didn't like Mickey Whenever I saw Mickey
I got scared. Some good games though, he had some good games he
did. H You were mentioning that Nintendo had a great year this year with
Zelda and with Mario. There's a lot of other stuff that they that they
had. On Twitter, both player Essence and our friend Parker both tweeted the
exact same thing, like almost at the exact same time, a list of
all of the great games that were released by them. Uh you, guys,
I was actually I was gonna suggest this for an episode soon. But
we could compare this year to other years for Nintendo. I guess we could
just do it now or like quickly, but yeah, I think it might
be one of the best years. Continue. I'm sorry. Tiers of the
Kingdom started off the year, I guess with a big fat ninety six.
I don't know what else came out before that, but I guess the fiscal
year that it's Tiers of the Kingdom because their fiscal year starting. I don't
think this is in any kind of order. I think the remaster did come
out before that, the Metro Prime. Oh yeah, oh this is in
the This isn't score order, Yeah, it's in score order. Obs keeps
disconnected, Oh it didn't. I don't know, guys, any disconnects.
Sorry, we're doing this remotely again because Mario wond it today and we we
couldn't go to the studio. There's no time. Yeah, especially me.
I wouldn't get home until like ten PM Mini Buffers anyway, Tears of the
Kingdom ninety six. This is Metacritics scores, Mario Wonder it is ninety three
to ninety five. I think it's at ninety three now. Yeah, okay,
that's still pretty great, and well it might go up a little once,
you know, because there are other review places that don't have it yet.
Right. Metro Primary Master ninety four, that's pretty big. Zeno Blade
Chronicles three Future Redeemed. Is that the name of the game, that's the
name of the doc? Right? I don't think that that little tag is
the doc name. I'm guessing they just mean Zeno Blade three, which I
can't stress enough how fantastic that game was. Like, did that's come good
this year? Yeah? M oh, okay, so the doc came out
this year. The game came out last year, So that must just be
the DC getting a ninety two. I have not played the doc yet,
I have not had time player Essence said ninety two. Yeah, okay,
they both put it in there. Pickman for eighty seven, that's pretty high
that people didn't really like that game. No, the game was great.
It was great. That game was like all three previous Pickman games stuffed in
a one game. There was so much content and it was better. It
was more fun to play than the other games. Advanced Wars reboot Camp eighty
two. Yeah, that one took a while to come out. That one
it anticipated for a while. Yeah, Baneta my favorite game. Seraisa kind
of shocked it even got eighty one. I gotta be honest, I really
gave that game a shot and it was not for me, But okay,
I made still great score And another game in in the first party library of
this year. I mean, you want to compare it to Xbox All PlayStation.
Look how many first parties we get, baby, and they're all such
different games. Yeah, I'll be on the next one. Pickman one and
two that gotten eighty I guess, Yeah, I guess the collection gotten eighty.
I'd imagine not a lot of people reviewed that because it's the same.
Yeah. It's always weird to me when a game gets a remaster and then
a re review in the year the remaster comes out and it's a different squad
of what the original got. Yeah, it just seems like, what are
we doing here, especially something like that when it's basically just a port Like
I understand if you're gonna put the game in a whole new engine or something.
But if you're just gonna poort it, why you're gonna review it unless
there's a game breaking problem. Sometimes you'll poort something out. Yes, there's
something that like ruins it, Like what was it Knights of the Old Republic?
They ported that and then broke the game, So like that, Probably
at that point is the score purely just for the port job itself and not
the game, Because I guarantee you if you go to the review it will
there will be a ton reviewing just the game, which just seems weird to
review a fifteen year old game. Now you're gonna have a different opinion than
when it came out. Yeah, I guess if your news outlet reviewed it
already, what's the point. But yeah, but if if you're new to
the game and you haven't reviewed it, go ahead. Who cares Fire Emblement
gage gotten eighty? Really in eighty's engaged? Oh yeah, I got a
callgate Hair. It wasn't great. I I feel like I'm on eggshells around
Fire Emblem fans, and I really like adored three Hopes, and so many
people have told me that's because I'm not a real Fire Emblem fan, and
Three Hopes was like very different and engages more like the Core series. I
guess I just don't like the Core series because this this new one was a
complete miss for me, nowhere near as good as three Hopes three Houses,
sorry, three Hopes. That was the the other one that the that the
Dynasty Warriors one was three Hopes. Oh that was really what it's called for
Fire Emblem. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Is it dumb names? Uh?
That was the lowest rated Nintendo first party that's at least on this list.
I can't think of another one. The last one actually is Everybody's one
two Switch, which Parker here put as a fourteen, which I think actually
doesn't have a meta score to switch fourteen. Uh Mette again, there's nothing
there. Someone in Chest said engages not like the main series. By that,
I meant everything I loved about Fire Emblem was persona ish with like the
house and the relationship building and all of that, and all that was removed,
and that is the stuff that's not Fire Emblemy. Everything it engage is
like traditional Fire Emblem. If you're saying it's not as good as that that's
a different conversation. Sorry, fourteen is a rating for one to everybody wants
to switch. That can't be right. Oh, I went to you know
what, instead of looking on Metacritic, I was looking on how long to
beat dot com. There is no how long to beat for one two switch.
The Metacritic for one two Switch is fifty six yikers. Yeah, almost
like the first one sucked and this new one was. Honestly was. It's
just I don't know why they bothered the first. I'll say this again.
I have said this a million times. The first game would have been great
if it was free and Camble Switch Baby. If it was free and the
game was a little different it was free. If it was free and came
with the switch, everyone would would have liked the game. Everyone would have
been like, this is cool. How many balls I got? My joy?
God, Oh my god, put the balls in there. They change
the amount of balls down my throat. That was when I first experienced the
switch at the Little Like event in New York where they previewed it. That
was like, the last thing I did was everybody wanted to switch, and
it blew my goddamn mind. The thing I had the last time I ever
played one to Switch, there's no reason to play it. Every time you
want to play a minigame, you have to sit through the tutorial again and
wait, I don't know, it just takes it takes forever to play that
game. Hey, I got a question. How do we look at notifications
like super chats and stuff? Is there like a feed for that? Well?
I found it five You want to read it then, David Jones five
dollars? Yay? That good. Glad to see the hype. We'll convert
would soon. I'm hype for new animations mostly. I mean, that's all
you can really hope for playing Mario for over thirty years and two d will
finally feel different. It's true I like more Marios than I dislike Marios.
You just like to talk shit. Everyone knows would no toious shit talker.
Is that true? I don't know. I feel like I gassed things up
a lot. I'm making a goof also Dark Type. Thanks for being a
member and Heinz Baby. I wish. I wish I could lie and just
pretend I like it, but I'm trying to be honest and I'm sorry if
Zelda has a little bit more personality For me, I don't know why I
like Mario more. It appeals to me more. I think it's just simpler
and no, I know if the thing is every gamer is different, and
you can look at a gamer and you can hear their interests and you know
what they're into. My favorite games Zelda and Last of Us and Red Dead
Redemption and these exploration action games and a soul protagonist hero with his sord or
is gone. Like that's the storytelling that I love storytelling. But I love
adventuring. I love which is one of my favorite games. You look at
you. You love platformers, you love even the wacky rogue indie platformers,
and Mario's Like it's it's so obvious why you love Mario so much. And
to me, it's so obvious why I like other games so much. It's
just different people, I see. I also loved the original Red Deir Redemption
and like Resident Will, it's a great game. I also loves Mario three.
You know, true we can we can relate there. Yeah, just
different strokes for different folks by guy Brian she that's what I Can you tell
Wood to clean his mic cover? Oh yeah? People get mad at me
all the time. I tell you, there's no point. I was gonna
say, Bob, wi't understand this, but like you don't actually get to
see it. Whenever I'm playing Valorie at night, Simon sits in my lap
and he likes to head butt this microphone. I don't know if you hear
it, like him brushing against it, but he he kind of like scratches
himself on it because he's so sweet, and no matter how many times I
clean it, it just gets Simon all over it. I'm sorry, I'm
doing doing my best. Get a get a different colored mic cover, Get
an orange one like the one he's orange. Jam there you go do that,
Okay, I'll get it all right. Well, so we got to
talk about Oh we didn't actually talk about the scores, did we? No?
Wait, no, we didn't. I don't know if that really if
it matters all that much. There's one that was most interesting to me.
It was the first one that I saw. It was a little earlier this
week. It was Famitsu. That's a Japanese outlet. I like talking about
them because they review things out of forty, which is really weird. It's
because they tell me about this. Yes, they have four reviewers. And
they each review it, and then they add this totals together, so they
each review it out of ten, and then they put them together. So
one reviewer gave it ten out of ten, two other reviewers gave it a
nine out of ten, and then the fourth reviewer gave it an eight out
of ten. So in total, Famitsu has to give it a thirty six
out of four. Okay, yeah, that sounds like a a grade,
sounds like a nine out of ten. That's very good, that's very good.
One of them gave it a ten out of ten. This year,
though, Famitsu gave Tiers of the Kingdom a ten out of ten. I
mean, I'm sorry for out of forty, every single every reviewer gave it
a perfect score. They did it to one other game this year. You
know what, can you guess what the game is? I'll give you two
guesses. They review every can I I want to look at old games.
Is it just Nintendo games? No, it's all games. I'll give you
a hinted, is not a Nintendo game? Okay, I'm just looking at
old games. I don't even think it's on the switch. To be honest,
all right, you're giving me a lot of a lot of hints here.
I'm trying to remember what came out this year. God, I want
to I want to play this game, but I was going to take me
a minute. It's not Jedi Survivor. It might be a Resident Evil.
Maybe you're getting warm. It's not Resident Evil, but you're getting warm.
Uh. So it's on PlayStation Is that what the one means? It means
zombies. I'm looking at this list of games. Is it a console game?
Wait? Is it botus game? No? Uh, remember it's Japanese.
They're Japanese out, so they're gonna both games released on PlayStation five.
Oh Japanese games. Yeah, not like okay, it's not okay. Also,
that's cheese it is. I'll just tell you you've failed miserably horrible I
have. It is street Fighter six. Oh no, they gave that never
a forty out of forty. I would never have guessed that. I wouldn't
have guessed that. I mean, the game is amazing. Street Fighter six
is very good, but the single player campaign, the third person thing,
is not good. I don't know how you could give the a perfect score
when you have a whole slice of the game that is so half baked.
I am not going to speak to it, you know, as much as
as much as I'm saying Mario is not my favorite, I think fighting games
might be arguably my least favorite genre. It's I would play it maybe over
a few things, but I'm just not in the fighting games other than Smash
Smashes anyone. I really I want to be more into fighting games. I
just I don't. You got to really play it a lot in order to
Yeah, I will admit that's one of the situations where I'm not good at
them, so it also makes me like them less. The only ones I
really liked outside of Smash would be so Caliber. I like so Caliber and
then it's amazing. I also really liked the game called Bloody Raw on GameCube
that was really good. But yeah, that's it. I mean, yeah,
I'm huge into Smash, but because we're a Nintendo fence. But every
every fighting game is great. Yes, every fighting game has weird little quirks,
and they all play like they're all really simple, but then there's these
little quirks that change everything. And each game has different weird little quirks,
and you've got to get really good at those weird little quirks and it's it's
hard to it's hard to get good at any one fighting game. But I
do like playing them with the little fun controllers. That's why I want to
get good at them, but I die, I do. It's the thing
I like about Street Fighter at least is the controls are very simple. I
know it's like hard to master or whatever, but it's a lot of just
quarter tones and button presses. The new one has some mechanics I wasn't expecting
that make it a lot harder, like grabs and stuff, and like these
like special moves where like you see all these colors go across the screen and
stuff, and like you have to kind of master that in order to get
really good at it, and that kind of I hit a wall trying to
master that stuff, and that's kind of what stopped me from playing it,
or made me not want to keep going. But I've been trying to get
back into Smash now because I like these weird little controllers. Anytime, baby,
Let's go right now, Okay, we don't have time. The worst
review for Mario Wonder if you want to skip to that is a seventy right
now by Digital Spy. I just wanted to see what the worst one was,
and honestly, I think a seven out of ten that could be someone's
opinion. I'm not too offended by that, but it is the worst one.
Yeah, that's that is strange to see what the subtitle says, wahoo
ooh. The review summary says, it is a game that tries to evoke
a feeling of discovery at every possible turn, but in doing so, loses
the element of wonder fairly quickly, instead wonder strong, strongest moments of when
it may god damn it, sorry when it takes a breather, taking the
time to set the scene while letting the platforming do the talking. I don't
really even understand what that what he's trying to say. You know what,
though they rated it out of five stars, they gave it three and a
half, so like, if they're doing it, doesn't it Yeah it does.
If they're doing it out of out of half stars, then I mean,
what was this seventy five? I can't do math sad seven. It
seems like he just didn't feel he didn't feel like he had a sense of
discovery while playing, and that's what he was looking for, which I'm actually
a little worried that that's how I'll feel, because I don't want it to
be a left to right platform or I want to feel a sense of discovery
while I play. So I am hoping that there is some I heard somebody.
I heard somebody say that it was the most three D Mario feeling two
D Mario. I love to hear that. I do think you might like
it a little more. I am a little worried about the sense of discovery
because it's a move left to right game. There's gonna be things that happen
that change things, but for the most part, it is just a linear
game. I think the discovery I'm looking for is like when I'm you know,
when you play a sonic game and you find little nooks and crannies around
the world. You can just go left to right, but there's things to
find. Yeah, I kind of want that, and I feel like there's
going to be some discovery in just those open areas and like picking my own
path, and I think that'll be enough to satiate me. I'm not looking
for like Tiss of the Kingdom two D, just a little something. There's
spice in a lot of the more modern Tuty Mario games. There are a
little branching paths kind of and not in every level, but in a couple
levels you might find some branching paths where you find some hidden secrets, and
maybe even a separate path in the overworld too. Like if you hit,
if you hit like a yeah, yeah, if you hit like a pipe,
like a hidden pipe, you might warp to a different area, or
you might like just skip a level or have a different that's classic Mario.
There's some minor branching paths you might hit playing this game. But I think
what makes the journey unique to you is going to be the ability build holding
and picking the level yeah, and picking the ability levels that you want to
unlock and stuff. Uh, that'll be better for you, and I think
it'll be a better conversation to be had about, like, oh, how
did you play this part? Oh what abilities did you end up using to
beat the game? And stuff? So that'll be fun. What was the
last full Mario game? I liked? Odyssey? Odyssey be Odyssey. I
really loved odisty. Yeah, honesty so long, it could be. It
could be. I don't think it'll be audisty for me, but I think
it'll be good. Bowser is fearable. Yeah, I still don't count that
just because it was so short, but I did love that it was like
a good ten hours. Yeah, you know what, it's probably comparable to
this. If you can finish this and about what what did you say,
nine hours, it's a nine and a half year Yeah, okay, all
right, yeah, okay. So so since Bowser is fear, you know
what, there's been some good Mario that I've enjoyed. So when you look
up how long Bowsers Fury is, the first thing that comes up is game
rant saying it's three hours. How long to beat is ten? And I
remember it took me, I think nine hours to beat it. And Jackson,
you know how he does the thing where he streams the whole game,
he also took like ten hours to do it. So yeah, I do
remember grinding. I played it on stream a bit, but then I grinded
a lot offstream to find all the stars and everything. I mean, it's
all about how long it takes you to find stuff. But well to one
hundred percent, how long to beat says twenty eight hours. Why that's the
honesty, not bad. That's a beefy game. Yeah, that's substantial.
I mean, you look at some other modern game. I think Assassins isn't
the new Assassin's Creed like fifteen hours? Yeah, it's not very long.
Yeah, so for a new Mario game, I think that's pretty solid.
There are twenty three hundred out of one hundred reviews here on Metacritic. Uh
for condamn Mario. I imagine. I'd imagine this game is just going to
get a lot of reviews period because it's just such a high profile game.
And then another like honestly thirty thirty reviews at a nine plus. So yeah,
I think you have a banger here. I'm very excited for you.
I think the only thing that might be let down is it's going to be
probably a little easy to play, but you could like nuzzluck your own rules,
you know. Yeah, that's what I'm hoping to do. I'm hoping
to make it challenging by trying to play it as fast as possible. But
yeah, you can also do a nuzzluck, which is another thing Jackson's been
doing where every time you die, you can't play that character anymore, which
would be great. In this game, there's like ten characters, so yeah,
I do that's actually a pretty funny idea. Yeah, i'd like to
see you do that. I might do that if I decide to keep playing
it once I beat it. Yeah, maybe like a new game. Plus
would be to just make it so character dies but you can't play. Nabbit
should not count because he's like two. Yeah, I think he just doesn't
take damage. Yeah, I don't think you can lose. Yeah, as
far as the year and what we have left, if you want to look
forward a little bit, if you don't mind. Oh, so we had
well, let's just go back a little bit. First, we had Sonic
come out yesterday, which you played on stream. What did you think of
that? So? I hated it at first. I thought some of the
animations were horrible, and it just it felt like not a great designed game.
Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of negativity around it. After playing it
for a little bit longer, I started to kind of like the like chaos
emrolled abilities that they give you and stuff. Yeah, that's that look good
to me. I still don't love it, but I like it. I
would struggle to call it a good game or worth sixty dollars because it's sixty
dollars, but as a Sonic fan. I like it, and I'm going
to beat it. It's also been the direction from Sonic themselves. It's hard
to say because Sonic Mania was such a massive leap forward for them. Sonic
Team though, right, right, But I know what you're saying for Sonic
Team. Sure, yeah, sure, step in the right direction. But
if you're talking about Sonic games need a little more Sonic Mania, a little
less Sonic Team. That's got to be so frustrating for Sonic Team. I
mean, yeah, I mean it's a good game, it's like that full,
but still it's frustrating because I heard that this game uses the same physics
as Sonic Mania, because those physics were so good. Something about this game
like it feels weird, weirdly zoomed in like Mario Sonic feels really big for
some reason. But some of the levels are fun and play really good.
Some of the levels are weird and they make you do weird stuff, but
for the most part I had one with it. Towards the end of my
play session, I got to world six and I think there's only eight,
so very close to the end already. Yeah, but I'm also trying to
get all of the chaos Emeralds, which takes a little longer to get.
And one thing that I'm a little disappointed about is in normal Sonic games,
you can get, like in Sonic three, you can get all of the
Chaos Emeralds pretty early on and become super Sonic pretty early on. That way,
you can enjoy Supersonic for longer in the game. In this you can
only get one Chaos Emerald per world, and that prolongs it a lot,
so that's a little disappointing. But you get cool abilities with the Chaos Emeralds
that make you do cool things like want that's nice. Yeah, you get
to you get like a little uh radial wheel where you can pick like,
oh, I want the fire ability and you can like shoot Sonic like like
in any direction you want. There's one that's like a water ability, so
you can swim through water easier. That's that Stuff's pretty cool. Can you
then go back to previous levels and blow them? Moll a little different?
That's what I was doing. I like the idea. It's a shame that
didn't come together. Yeah, I played a bunch of it, and then
I realized I missed a cast the role. So I went back and replayed
the level, and then once you get the cast and role, you could
just leave the level, so that makes it a little bit easier. I
mean, I don't hate anything I'm hearing about this, other than maybe the
zoomed D thing, because I've always had an issue with Sonic where like,
yeah, it's fast, but on the two D plane, I end up
hitting something constantly because I don't have time to react. It's like too fast,
It's just it's yeah. So I think Sonic is at its best word
when it's just a platformer and not trying to be too fast, and this
has a lot of that. It has a lot of just regular old platforming
stuff. But I think the frustrating thing is that it's a full sixty dollars
release and it's it doesn't feel like it. It's like short and it feels
like a much smaller experience. And then you look at you know what Mario
was doing. Remember when they used to compete against each other, Yeah,
coming out the same day, they're still competing technically, So like that's what's
so frustrating. Kind of a weird move. I mean, it must have
been planned by Sega or Sonic Team, right, Sonic Team does it so
fir stuff. They should have baked it in the oven a little longer and
waited like a fut I wonder if they thought like dropping at the same time
as Mario, like a good idea, like maybe trying to go for like
a doom animal crossing thing where they thought maybe they'd get some free marketing because
Sonic and Mario coming out the same time, But no one really seemed to
care. I mean, if you are interested in Sonic, it's worth playing
because it is very short, so you can breeze through it and still have
time to play Mario and Spider Man that comes out this week. But if
you're only a little interested in Sonic, wait for a sale or something.
Can I say something that's probably controversial on a Nintendo podcast. Sure, I'm
so excited for Spider Man. It's the only game that I'm actually really excited
about this weekend. Like, if I had to pick one, I'm picking
Spider Man. I would throw in the in the trash instantly. I'm becoming
more interested in it. Uh. The first game I liked, but I
stopped playing pretty soon into it. I think I was burnt out by those
types of triple A beat him up style, hit a guy and then dodge
the attack, and then hit a guy again. I was getting sick of
those types of games, but I haven't played one in a while, so
uh, and I like the storyty wacky. They added a lot of wacky
with Miles and uh, they looks like the Bad It even more wacky.
Now you have the venom suit now or the Symbio suit, I should say.
So, Yeah, I used to be all over that. I used
to love that shit. Spider Man web a shadows hell. Yeah, dude,
oh boy, oh baby. Spider Man used to be my favorite hero
growing up. There are a lot of horrible Spider Man stories. So I
was rereading. I keep forgetting what it was called. This old I think
was Scarlet Spider where he was like a villain almost Yeah, he's like an
all right. So we've never talked about Borderlands three coming out on Switch earlier
this year this month. I wonder how that went. Oh kind of crazy,
that's on Switch. We haven't had any coffee yet. Well late if
that, if we're supposed to do that, well yeah we're yeah, we
are, We're so late if we're supposed to be doing that. Middle of
the podcast This seems like a good middle How you doing guys? Welcome.
I didn't know that was today. I'm a coffee lover. Hey, don't
we have don't we have something from them? Do you mean to show let's
say trade on them? Oh? I thought they said. Did they not
say our name on them? Oh? I'm thinking of something else. Well,
they say mine, they say my name. I'm coffee lover. Okay,
all right, no your coffee, I'm lover all right. Trade Carffee
is a coffee subscription service that makes it so simple to discover new coffees and
make your best cup of coffee at home every day. That's right, folks.
This episode of the podcast is sponsored by Trade Coffee. Right here in
the middle of the episode. Trade partners with the nation's top ed independent roasters

their coffee experts. Whether you already know what you like or you're new to
specialty coffee and need some help, trades matching algorithm creates coffee perfectly for you.
Trade makes it easy and convenient to discover new coffees. I talk about
this every time, but I used that matching algorithm, so did you,
And to this day, they still send me coffees that have notes of like
chocolate and fruits because that's what I said that I like, and they haven't
sent me a bad one yet. I made. I actually didn't know I
was supposed to be cleaning my coffee machine. Well, I knew I was
to flush it, there was parts of it I didn't know I was supposed
to clean. And a couple days ago I finally fully cleaned my machine,
opened a new bag of trade coffee, dropped it in and it was the
best cup of coffee I think I've ever made myself. Yeah, because there's
no dirt in it, because it was a nice clean machine, and the
beans they were so good. I never showed you what the filter looked like.
It was so bad. I want to see that. So I actually
broke their algorithm the other day. I was like, no, I went
against it because I found a coffee that I was interested in, a dune
Ethiopia. Ya ye, natural. I want to try this because I think
that this might be similar to one of the ones that we had in Japan.
So I just I have their recommendation algorithm and then I was like,
you know what put this in instead, and they're like, okay, so
then it'll resume. It'll resume the algorithm for the next couple, but they'll
just throw this in so I can try this one. So you can just
go shopping on trade drink trade dot com. Bringing that pick the coffees you
want. Okay, bring that back up. Red strawberries, black tea,
and deep plum. That actually sounds like one that I would like. That's
a fruity one. I might actually doing coffee roasters. Yah. Yeah,
you had me break the algorithm once and grab a bag of something. I
forget what the name is called, but you were like, oh, Trade
has this brand of coffee that's really good, and I broke that works to
get a couple of bags Onyx. Yeah, and I have their own special
blend. I think of Onyx coffee. Oh my god, I have to
break it again. Such a rule breaker. Great your morning routine with better
coffee. Right now, Trade is offering of you as a free bag of
coffee with a subscription service at drink Trade dot com. Forward slash Nintendo.
That's drink Trade dot com. Forward slash Nintendo for a free bag of coffee
with any subscription touches I'm on a new specialty diet now with a trainer,
and I'm doing it two weeks. It's been fantastic. But I messaged him
yesterday and I was like, Hey, we need to find a way to
add coffee into this diet. Coffee you can just have obviously no calories,
good for you, but the like one hundred calories for the for the milk.
I was like, you've got to add your meal, dude, Yeah,
all day, make it through the whole day without one. I thought
I could do this. You've got to add this end. And immediately he
was like, no problem, got you. So he's gonna he's gonna work
in a latte a day for me, and I'm very excited. I'm sure
that he probably gets that a lot. Yeah. I mean we'll find tune
it as we go, but he'll just shuffle some calories around and just give
me a hundred for a coffee. All right, Thank you, t thanks
try, thank you? All right? Cool. I was gonna say,
I want to look through what's coming out this year to to finish off this
year because we're we're almost done. Actually, we were driving around neighborhood recently
and we saw signs are popping up for Christmas light installation. Might have to
call one of those guys. Pretty soon, you're you're gonna be here in
about a month to friends Giving. It's almost Thanksgiving time again. It's it's
all happening. Man, bring out the pumpkin spice is it's a man in
powerful fashion. But soon it's going to be clothes of of nutmeg and cinnamon
and houses smelling slightly of orange pill And so I'm just making I've been making,
uh, peppermint mocha like seerrus, Oh my god, you're already them,
my god, you're already. But I don't. I'm realizing that I
don't love peppermint mocha. I used to get it all the time at Starbucks
and it was delicious, but like so good, but like not all the
time. It's like good for like a one off, So like making a
whole thing a syrup just for like one time. Oh yeah, that's a
lot, but like like a two week window near Christmas, that peppermint mocha
hot chocolate. God damn dude, that is Christmas, you know what I
think? Though a little just a little bit of chocolate, just a just
a like a half a bar just in the espresso, pour it down,
sprinkle nutmeg on top. Yeah, I'm with you that that you don't need
the mints. The mints a little much. Well that's a different you're making
a different thing, but that I drink them both. But I'm saying that's
the Christmas thing right there. You know what I'm going to do this year.
I'm so excited. We're going to go to the Christmas Village in New
York again. Yes, you're coming. I've already decided. Okay, it's
going to be snowing. I'm going to have a beanie on and I'm going
to go to Starbucks. I don't even care. That's my one Starbucks.
I don't even care a year and I'm going to get a chocolate peppermint milcha
hot coffee. I'm going to walk around that Christmas Village. I'm going to
be happy. Wow. That's all it takes. Ah, That's all it
takes. End of the year, we have Dave the Diver finally coming out.
We have the Metal Gig Collection. That's actually I'm looking forward to that.
That's out, It isn't it now? That's October twenty four. Oh
okay, people are playing it already, probably reviewers, I guess. I
think that's it. Actually, I mean that's what Nintendo has listed on their
website. So I think this Mario is our last big our last big bang.
When does when does the Harry Potter pot come to Switch? Because they
find soon they finally posted some screenshots of it. I thought this was and
gone. I thought this went the way of Lord of the Rings. I
think it's dead and gone. I know I won't believe it until it is
in my lap. I would have one hundred percent agreed with you until they
literally just gave it a new release date and released screenshots. November fourteenth.
Yeah, I mean that's less than a month it's gonna be on Switch.
I mean that's gonna be as for a lot of people, I mean everybody,
can it? Not everybody? Because it is very controversial. The only
reason why I'm interested in this is just to see how this game runs on
Switch, And it's nothing to do with Harry Potter. It's just we don't
see big ports like this come to the Switch very often, and to be
honest, maybe even at all. I can't think of an equivalent game as
far as like scope size, visuals, production. I can't think of I
can't think of a port this ambitious. This might be the most ambitious Switch
port, and it was delayed multiple times. It made us think that it
was gonna get canned. Also, it's Warner Brothers, and they haven't had
a good history with ports with the Batman and Gotham Knights and stuff. Oh
well, I mean that's not on Switch yet, but oh, you mean
in general, because those were general Yeah, even like PC ports they used
to have a hard time with. And there are switched stuff that I think
the Arkham collection had, like some issues on the Switch. Gotham Knights got
ported again recently and had issues. Again, it's it's it's they haven't had
a good track worker. So I'm looking through a list on Nintendo Life of
most ambitious switch ports, and I don't think any of these even come close
to this. I mean, which Are Three seems to be one of the
biggest ones, But that was a PlayStation four game. I mean that was
last gen. And yeah, that is an ambitious port, don't get me
wrong, but comparing it to a current gen game like that, that is
somewhat open. I mean it's it has open world areas and I remember Hogwarts
Legacy had issues on PC. So when when you take a game like that
from a console like a PlayStation five and put it on the switch, you're
acting as if it is a low powered PC. And games like Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy had issues on PC, so taking it and just drastically underpowering
it and then putting it on an Android tablet is going to be is going
to cause some problem. So it is an incredibly ambitious port. This is
crazy ambitious. Some people in chat are pointing out a couple others, like
No Man's Sky, but again that was last gen and also an indie team.
It's still amazing that it works on the console, but not it's just
not the same level, especially the way that it procedurally generates things. It
has a much easier time. I'm sure. Yeah, I would say that's
pretty ambitious. I mean the most ambitious. I always go to Doom.
That was, yeah, Doom. Doom ambitious is the frame rate. You
got to keep that frame rate really high, and that was a big power
intensive game on PC. Yeah, and they Doom is such an incredibly optimized
game. It can run at high frame rates on most low end PCs and
all the handhelds we've ever taken a look at can always pump that bad boy
out sometimes above sixty frames. It's just a really well optimized game, so
I have an easier time believing that is running on Switch. Also, Doom,
as great as it is, and it's one of my favorite games,
it is very small set piece areas that you load into, just a little
room that you're stuck in, and then you go to the next one and
load that room in again. It's not the same as like a big open
world kind of adventure like this, which you got to do a lot more
loading, a lot more quickly, and a lot more assets and a lot
bigger areas. When they put Duty on the Switch, that will be the
most ambitious switch port because that game is poor optimized. Yeah, it's all
about the optimization. And yeah, Call of Duty is a train wreck.
It doesn't work on any of the handhelds I've tried. No, it it
works. It's just not great. It's the it's the least good feeling,
even like it feels great on a lot of handhelds. But Call of Duty
is is rough, looks bad, runs bad all right. A couple other
things here. As we get towards the tail end, I guess we'll just
try and wrap a couple of things up. I thought it, you sent
it to me. We knew it was happening, but Nintendo just opened a
store in Kyoto. Yep. It was just so frustrating because we were just
there. It's a new Nintendo store. This happened to both of us because
I think we both went independently to Japan in twenty nineteen, right, Yes,
so I was trying to plan the trip around the launch of the Nintendo
store in Tokyo because that was the that was going to be the first Nintendo
store that's not in New York. Yeah, And I was one week early
and they did a thing where if you had a Parko Shabuya Parko credit card,
you could get in and go to the store the week before. But
I wasn't about to sign up for a whole ass credit card just to make
a YouTube video. When did you go, like October ish uor November?
Yeah, so we went in October, so we missed it by a few
weeks, but they opened the store after we got back, and then you
and I go here in twenty twenty three, we've already been back a couple
of weeks, and here's Nintendo Kyoto is officially open. Yep. And this
one's interesting because in this store particular, you can get any combination of Jeyge
colors you want and put them together. So you can do that online.
You could do it online in Japan if you if you order it from Nintendo
Japan, you can get a combination. But this looks like you could also
customize the what do you call them, the rails, like the little little
grippy little because they have some examples back here where it's completely different colors.
Dude, I would have done it, man, just to buy it.
I know it'said another switch. I would have done it. I want if
you can buy just the joy cons, you buy one of each joy Con.
Oh yeah, that's what it is. Yeah, you don't have to
buy the actual screenpot, the ore lead pot correct. Oh damn it,
dude, I'm pretty sure. I mean that's how it is on the Japanese
website. You could just make any combination of colors you want. I love
the pastel ones. I probably would have gone for some pastels because I think
I have mostly everything else. I see the pastels in store and it's tempting,
but I really don't need any more joy Conn. They're not really my
vibe. I just think they look nice. They look really cool, and
Nintendo did a fantastic job with colors of joy Conn this time around, the
colors are all pretty Yeah, I mean it took a minute. The first
couple of years we didn't have much, but yeah, they started picking it
up. When the switch first came out, I was like, I'm going
to get the gray one. I'm not a kid. I don't need these
fancy colors. And then I saw the Neon in person, and I was
like, that's pretty sick. I thought the same thing. I was like,
the Neon's gonna get old. I just want a nice, like one
color. And then yeah, I ended up regretting it because the Neon does
look really nice. Yeah, all right, well that's that. Unfortunately we
saw yeah, the Tokyo what we miss the museum. Oh that's not open
yet though, that's gonna take a while. That's next year. Let's go
take a while. Yeah. So we did get to see finally the Nintendo
store in Tokyo, and they opened one I think last year. Very recently,
they opened one in Osaka, and we saw both of them, and
you know what underwhelming New York. The New York one is better, dude.
We went to the New York one since we've been back from Japan.
We went about a week ago, and yeah, we bought a couple of
things because it's better. It's just the clothing is better and the toys and
trinkets. I mean it was that first one. It's a little sad going
in there now though, because they had a little mini museum in there and
now it's all gone. Yeah, it'd taken out everything that was concerning to
us because one of the things they took was the Gulf War game boy,
which was legendary and we were worried that something happened to it. But I
think everything's just moving to the Kyoto Museum, so I don't feel as bad
about losing the museum part of the Nintendo Store. Oh, we have to
announce the winner of the Nintendo Nonintendo Wonder Challenge. Let go right, So
last week we put up a challenge to you guys where you go to play
the demo of Super Mario Wonder and you try to get as far as you
can before the demo ends. The demo is ten minutes long. Only three
people used to hashtag. But also we learned from one this speech. This
was the one I think the first guy, and he got the far.
The first guy to get this far was Mark Szmansky, and he said,
it looks like you can one hundred percent the demo in under ten minutes,
but it is structured to block you from going further. Yeah, I mean,
obviously manither of us had tried it, and when we were told that
the full game is playable, we assumed you. We assumed some things,
but they structured it in a way where you can't get one of the wonder
seeds you need to progress. I don't know how they did. I guess
I just took out a wonder seed, so I think, yeah, they
made it or this says ninety nine. So they made this area. Oh
they used acted. Yeah, they made it impossible. Ah well, so
unfortunately that sucks. But this was the first person to tell us that this
is what we confirmed. This was the first Yes, all right, So
Mark, I mean it was very easy for you, but you played and
you won, so two hundred dollars coming your way. I don't know,
I guess we'll reach out using the nontendo account on Twitter and we'll get you
addressed and we'll send you a T shirt as well. So thank you to
the people that did play along. And hey, if we do that again,
just know only three people tried this time. Yeah, pret a good
chance. It wasn't a lot of money. There are other I'll highlight the
other people that did it. Joey says, so nontended podcasts. I beat
all the levels available in Mario Wonder demo. He has an actual switch unit
like in his hands. So I don't know what demo he's playing. Oh,
Twitter won't let me send the full video, but here's me beating the
last level and walking around the hub for a bit and then oh that's it.
No wait, no, there's more. There's there was one. There
was one more. The guy that was giving the money to he played at
a demo unit, right, Yeah he did. Well. It looks like
that's that. Mario Wonder is so awesome when I can't wait to play it.
Also, love the podcast, says Carter Keel. Uh, he didn't.
He used to hash tag, but he didn't do he didn't do the
thing. Well no, he he also put the time at the top.
Oh but but really, really the challenge was just take a picture of how
far you got. So he didn't get as far as the people who got
blocked out. Okay, all right, and I have been seeing people on
Twitter speed running the demo, but that wasn't the challenge. The challenge was
how far you can get. So it's a little as showing things showed that.
I thought that was pretty funny. Out of context Nintendo podcast spoilers.
Someone tweeted this at us about last week's episode. This is Eric. He's
a longtime friend of of the wolf Den and the Wolf Then podcast and whatnot.
Thank you for being here. Out of context Nontendo podcast spoilers. A
jar of piss, mushrooms, h wrink fingers, and old people in target.
Uh yeah, if you remember last week's episodes, some of that that
might make sense to you. Some of it. Yeah, that's pretty funny.
Thank you for that. Please send us more memes and funny things that
we can look at on the show. We need to build more of a
culture around that. I feel, Yeah, we did have more memes,
more memes for us. I mean, we can save some of these for
a bonus I know we're both pretty busy people today. I don't know if
you want me to just list the last couple of things we had on here.
I do want to talk about this. Nintendo did have some major sales
this year. Yeah, big stuff. Nintendo Switch one of the best selling
consoles of all time, on track to being the best selling consoles going to
happen. Very confident. And that's not all of the record breaking numbers that
they have. They also have the worst selling console of the year. It's
the Wei You this year, the we You sold a record breaking one console
that I don't Okay, you gotta have to break this down for me.
One, how are they still tracking these two? Where are you even buying
a new we U and it has it being tracked? Three? How can
they prove it's the only one. So a lot of times when you see
analytics like this, it's something from the NPD group there. They track like
console sales and game sales and across the whole world. Uh. And they
usually do reports like once a month, and you have to pay to get
the reports. But then people like Matt Priscilla over here or Piscatella, they
will just tweet it out. So they found that there was one WEU sold
that was tracking. Uh, it's hard to tell where it came from.
The most likely case is that it was sitting rotting in the back of a
best Buy and somebody who worked there found it and just bought it. That's
the most and then and then doing that puts it on the NPD radar.
Yeah, that's so funny. Yeah, I think the intended needs to listen
to this demand, so I shouldn't think about it. I was thinking about
it, and why would you buy a WEU that's like brand new from a
big box retailer that's probably got like an old krusty box because it's been sitting
there rotting for years. I looked it up and on eBay, a brand
new WEU is still like four hundred dollars. Okay, that deal. Some
of them are over one thousand dollars on eBay. If you got to let
the Mario Maker one or something doesn't make any sense, you need to stop.
Well, there's people like Scott the Wise out there buying every Mario Maker
we you bundle, so I think, yeah, they probably got a hell
of a deal because it's freaking best Buy. It's probably like nobody's buying this,
let's mark it down a lot. Also, like some retailers when they
want to get rid of things, they will penny it out, so they'll
just make it worth a penny and then throw it literally throw it out.
So maybe somebody found it for a penny potentially. You know what's so weird
is that I'm googling. I wanted to see how much the Zelda win Waker
HD Deluxe console is. It's I can buy it right now from Walmart.
Is it brand new? No, it's used. Okay, why can't I
buy this from Walmart? Though I didn't know that was a thing. It
says I can get it in the next five days. It's Walmart does something
similar to Amazon where they have like third party sellers. So it's nice track
so these don't get tracked to they used ones. I mean no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, sorry.
Four hundred bucks. That's not bad. That's not bad. Oh, I
mean it's used. That's not great. In Japan, probably would have found
a great deal on that. To be honest, I already have it.
Oh look at you sell it? Or so no, wouldn't fit in the
suitcase. Uh all right, Well, that's the big WU say it was
for the Did you want to talk about the Analog three D? That was
the last thing. Let's talk about it. We gotta let's at a couple
more minutes on this so that the trade spot's just technically in the middle.
So you know Analog, right, what do you know about Analog? I
know they did the Analog Pocket, which is a handheld game boy, and
you like it, but not as much as the ODG thirty five X.
So. Analog is a company that makes new versions of old retroconsoles, and
the reason they're so exciting is because they use FPGA technology. It's a little
chip that mimics the big board of an old console. That way they claim.
That way they can claim that it's not emulation. It's actual hardware that's
running the game, which a lot of people take issue with because it is
still emulation. It's just hardware emulation instead of software emulation. They have a
new console coming out. It's called the Analog What is it called Analog three
D? Analog three D? I was gonna say Analog sixty four. That
would have been a better name. That would have been It might have been
a licensing thing definitely a licensing thing, analog three D. It is the
N sixty four. It's it's an if their version of an N sixty four.
It is going to be four K. I think it's their first four
K device. I don't know how it's gonna achieve four K. It's gonna
I'd assume it's going to take the pixels and just make them bigger. I
don't think it'll be like playing it on a computer where every all the polygons
are like perfectly smooth. It'll be four K. It's going to have a
regular role controller ports, but it will also have Bluetooth connectivity and it and
I think two point four gigaherd connectivity, and yes it does, and it
is going to have a new controller by eight bit. Do that is kind
of my attention. You could probably buy the controller separately. Uh. It
is remniute. You can barely see it with this picture that they have.
It's like kind of a tease, but it looks like it's probably gonna be
like the retro fighters controller, or like the retro bit controller or the old
Hoary controller where it doesn't have the three prongs at the bottom. It's only
two and it looks more like a modern controller. So that's gonna be really
cool. Photoshop, yes, and I boost the brightness. Will it reveal
it? Yes, a little bit the left side. I've seen other people
do it. The left side is more obscured, but you could see the
middle a lot clearer if you bring it too. I'm going to do it
right now. It looks like that. There's like a half image of the
console up a little bit. It just looks like a sixty four model right
now. Yeah. So what I like about Analog the most is that their
consoles look awesome. They're always it's like, this is like the apple of
gaming. They make like really cool stuff and it also works really nice.
It is kind of a pain in the ass to hook an old console up
to a modern setup, so being able to just plug an HDMI cable in,
put your game in, and just boot it up is great. I've
got an image for you. Their stuff is a little expensive, but uh,
I mean, you know, I think I think it's priced pretty reasonably
in the market. Yeah. I just did this in like two seconds,
and you can see so much more of it. There you go. It's
reversed on screen, but uh yeah, you get the dpad, the eight
bit do dpad, and they have a great deepened Yeah. I mean it
looks honestly a lot like the Ultimate controller I just got recently that I really
love, except sixty fourified, so it has it looks like it has the
stick gate like where you know, it's like pointy. Uh. But one
thing about the N sixty four controller is that the stick gate is an oval,
and not a lot of controllers do that. They always make it a
circle. So this one's still a circle. Yeah, you know what,
this is actually kind of cool, And I think the main I don't know
if you've said this, but the main reason I am actually kind of looking
forward to it is it's region free. Did you say that? I didn't,
But, uh, do you know how region locking works on an N
sixty four? I actually think I do. Okay, there's literally just a
couple of plastic nodes inside that prevent the cats from going in, but if
you break those and get rid of them, you can make any sixty four
region free technically. Yeah, So that was like it's like, you know,
like a simple thing for them to include. Yeah, but it's it's
not that I don't have to break something. You know, and I don't
have to worry about the power unit or anything like that being plucked into a
different wall. I just it's all in one's four K. So that is
a testament to analog just making things easier, to make it making it easier
for us to play retro games on modern you know, devices and stuff.
I usually do not care about stuff like this, especially with all the handhelds
and everything. I think because this is not oversaturated yet, we don't have
anything like this. The idea that I could get this, look it up
to my TV, get that four K, put in any sixty four game
from my past, and just stop playing whatever sixty four game without emulating.
Thank you. That's that actually is pretty I actually am looking forward to that.
Just off the top of my head. I bought a bunch of games
in Japan I'd like to play. And also you gave me that uh that
coup, that modern copy of Oracle of Ages on a sixty four card that
I can play on my TV that I I've been waiting to do that.
So so how much would you be willing to pay for that? Oh?
God? Have they set a price? No? But I got one in
my head, me having no idea, what this what anything like this cost
or any Analog's cost. Not factoring in the controller either, do I have
to Does that come with it? It comes with it? Okay, factoring
in the control of the control is going to be like i'd imagine, I'd
imagine it comes with it. I'd hope I'm getting out at around three hundred.
Okay, that that is what it should cost. I think it might
be four hundred. That's a little wacky. It's a little whacky. I
mean, but what they say the PlayStation five, this is sixty four games.
I three hundred. I'm only up that high because I know how much
eight bid Doo quality control has cost there about eighty bucks. Analog just charges
a lot for their stuff. Three hundred dollars would put it in line with
some of the other consoles that they sold them the past. But this isn't
like that. This is their first three D one. So they're gonna screen
and speaker is I think they're gonna try to squeeze out a couple extra dollars.
Also, they raised the price of the Analog Pocket since it launched.
They've just just put the price up a little bit. Do you a couple
questions. One, why does it have Wi Fi? Just to update it
if need be? I have no idea. Okay, Second question, was
I right? Do you like the analog pocket less than the age thirty five
X whatever? Or is the analog pocket pretty solid? The analog Pocket's awesome.
I like it a lot. I play it a lot less because I'm
afraid to ruin it. Is it that good? Yes, it's really pretty.
They have a lot of cool colors. Now, really it just actually
look really it's really cool. It's just so it's just an awesome modern actually
does very cool? Does it? Wait? Does it the object? Does
this? Can I put actual game Boy games in that? Yes? N
RUMs. So the way it's marketed is you can put game Boy cartridges in
it, actual game Boy, game Boy Advance, game Boy Color cartridges in
it, and that's the way you're supposed to play it. You can also
get adapters so you can put like game gear and shit like that. But
like two weeks after it launched, it was broken open and you can very
easily put ROMs on it. Now love that the thirty five X I have
does not does not play the cots right, No, you have to know,
it's just put a ROM on it. So okay, all right,
okay, I see I see the value now, Yeah, it's the analog
Pocket's really really cool, and it got even cooler once it got broken open.
It's soon super easy every analog device it's super easy to break open and
put ROMs on it. So the docs are really cool too. The exciting
part about the Analog three D that's coming out is there's definitely gonna be a
micro SD card slot, and very soon after it gets launched, you're going
to be able to just put ROMs on it pretty easily. I'm excited to
see what type of ROMs it'll be able to play. Will I be able
to play like the Mario sixty four that has my face in it and you're
facing it? Am I going to be able to play that? Because that
doesn't play on a regular N sixty four. You just bring up a picture
of the guy for people that haven't seen it, because I'm kind of getting
blown away by how nice it looks. It's it's awesome. I mean,
I have it, yeah, And what kind of college do they have?
I might honestly might grab hold they got awesome color they got I never thought
about how it plays or it plays the actual games. So sorry, tell
me the colors. Sorry, my wallet is opening, and when that happens,
I don't listen to anybody. I had to get hyper focused. I
had to stop listening to you for a second. There is go in the
dark. Oh, I don't think you can get this one anymore. This
is like a limited edition. And then like the color. This is the
regular one, but I put a bunch of cool stickers on it, so
now it looks like a game Boy. Oh okay, but this is just
the regular black one. But it's sick, dude. The screen is amazing.
The screen is fourteen forty p but like cropped and forty p. Yeah,
so the original the original game translucent colors. The original game Boy is
one hundred and forty four pixels wide, so this is ten times the resolution
of the original Gameboy. So the scaling looks amazing. Bring up, bring
up those colors. How much is it? It's like two fifty? I
think for the color? What color should I get? Sold out? Good
luck, I'll find a way. I either want purple or clear. I
think you could probably hit them up. I'll just send this to them.
Yeah, do you remember that? What was that company that did this for
a while that made Retron might happen a Retron that was hyperk Retron five.
Oh really, are they still doing things like that? So they announced a
game Boy so long ago and then never came out with it. They also
announced in N sixty four that we made a video on at E three with
Celia because she worked for Hyperkin, and then they never released the their version
of the N sixty four. Their consoles look so ugly. The Retron stuff
they were going for what's the word something over form, substance, over style
or whatever. I mean, they were literally it was just a brick.
I sent a link, but you can click on the console part two.
It's just a brick that had holes for games. Oh my god, looks
weird. Click on shop now in the consoles, because have you seen their
duke controller. It's actually awesome. It's actually it has a screen in the
middle. It's it's actually sick. Okay, that's pretty cool. I like
it. Look at those beasts. Yeah, but remember that, like Hyperkin
was one of the first in the game. Like, no, I know
they were making these types. Oh I forgot that they made the super Boy.
The super Boy is what I have that's running the game back there all
the time. I mean they, I mean they made some cool stop.
I mean this is going back like eight nine years I got my first Retauran
five. I remember in high school my friends were playing games on their Retroan
and it was cool because like, it's it's a it's a console that can
play every console. But now so it's software. So it you plug it
in and it you put the cartridge in, and the retron takes the ROM
off of the cartridge and holds it in its memory, and then when you
take the cartridge out it and releases it is that different to how analog's doing
it. Yeah, Analog is pretending like it's uh in a ney s so
it's acting. It's it's it's acting as if the about the difference, Why
do they care how you play it? There are some games that will play
worse using software emulation. Okay, especially back then with like the retroant stuff,
But these days software emulation has gotten so good that there's you'll never notice
a difference. There's some games that might have some little issues and some things
might be different than they would have played, but I've never had a problem
with software emulation these days, everything plays great. All right, well I
got something to look forward to. Sorry, I interrupted you so many times.
What I like that because you are genuinely engaged in something that I'm interested
in. Hey, don not like it's the only time. Uh, we
gotta go. That's it, man, we got to do a bonus too.
The fuck out of here. Dude. Actually, Stephen, a friend
of mine and viewer of the show, was send a message to me.
He's like, you know, you had five hundred people had viewed a last
bonus episode like the day or two after it came out, which is crazy
how many patreons we have over there that are actually actively engaging with the bonus
content. And last week's bonus episode we said this at the time, we
could just released that as a half hour episode like we went in it was.
It was a great bonus episode. So if you want to check out
any of those, go over to the patreon. You got so many.
There's seventy four half hour long bonus episodes that you'd get for the low price
of five dollars. At this point, they're as cheap as like ten cents
each. Some of them are even an hour long, and one of them
we played Valeriant. It's a whole thing over there, So go check it
out, and if you don't want to, that's fine, as long as
you like, comment, subscribe, five stars, leave a review, all
of that good stuff. I hope you're enjoying the podcast. We're still enjoying.
Make I know. I promised last week we would be in person this
week. I don't know if I can even promise it for next week because
things are getting I know we can't. Okay, so we're not doing Saturday
because I thought that people maybe like, all right, well then we all
right. The funny thing is, last thing I'll say is next week,
the day after we have to do the podcast, Bob and I will be
together in person. It just didn't. It didn't work out. So we'll
try and figure out something for the week after while we're together. We can
pre right anyway, we'll talk about it. We'll talk about it right now,
talk about right now in the bonus before the bonus. Goodbye, okay, bye,
