Welcome to the Non Tender Podcast and the Jazz Hands. I'm gonna stop.
Welcome back Christ It's so good to have you guys back. It feels like
we're friends now. I know we are friends now, we've always been a
friends. We are we are, but it feels like we're good friends,
like we I said this already, But the last episode was like the grilling
episode. We talked about the hard hitting question we had to get all out
and being squashed. We had to squash some stuff, but then were dropped
and now we're best these men, we're besties. I know. Last time,
we really didn't know what to expect. Is this an a our guard
up? For sure? But we also wanted to clear the air and stuff
too. Now that we have all that out of the way, now we
can just chat and co host a whole podcast together. We have so much
stuff to talk about. Can we talk about how you're Jack now? Or
am I? Are you? Are you? Are you replacing one of the
Chris Is? Is this what attention? Oh? Yeah, respectfully, I'll
show you. I'll show you some photos laid up and you can you guys
can have your moment. We were already talking about switching haircuts. That's true.
Yes, if we put my hair on his head, we want someone
to photo show and his hair on my head. Because you were saying we
have the same color eyes, would there be much of a different You're saying
we looked similar, which is a compliment. I appreciate taking me out a
little bit. There's like two of you. Now what am I going to
do? Because you've had that haircut for a Nintendo Minute and it looks it
looks There was a period where I was cycling through different hairstyles and then I
got this one. But something I think I'm ready to Maybe it's something else.
Your look die. Yeah, there you go. So, speaking of
Nintendo Minute, for anyone that didn't watch the last episode, you guys are
ex Nintendo employees. Used to host a fantastic show that a lot of people
have a lot of establish a focal Nintendo Minute, and now you do your
own thing, your own podcast, which we love so dear. It's direct
competition to this podcast. I was like, real moron would be on another
podcast that releases the same time as their own waits When is your big brain
strategy to take us down? When did your podcast come out? Morning?
We put it out a couple of hours earlier than usual because of this one.
Yeah, I mean big brain for me. But what's show you guys?
I mean that's cool because now after this everyone can go directly to your
watch it, right, which you guys absolutely shouldn't have to do four hours
of of Nintendo podcast Why not? What did you guys talk about today on
your podcast? That's all about Princess Peach and or not Nintendo's finally giving this
poor character the respect she deserves. Do you feel like they are? On
the Boodcast, a long time disbeliever of Nintendo's treatment of poor princesses. Right
right, we've kind of reached a point where people either have forgotten or we've
reached new people who don't know where we came from. So sometimes we'll say
things and people like, well, what gives you the right to say that?
It's like, wow, this was our lives to what. Like,
we did a video the other day on the financial results and sales of Tears
of the Kingdom, which we thought was like, Nintendo might find these to
be a little disappointing, and some people did not like that statement. Freaks
meeting people freak out in the matter where but a game will break a record
and people will say it's not good enough, we need you to do more.
I mean, it's never good enough. When is it ever good enough?
Inside Nintendo too, it was very much like a whenever they had like
a sales forecast, like if we sell x amount, then it's you guys
met the forecast they were notorious for basically like insane. Once you made the
insane forecasts are like, actually the twenty million more so you actually surprise your
failure. That sucks every single one. Why was the mentality behind that?
Always can do more? You can always sell more, you can always milk
it from you. Bet they were stoked with arms and how that went.
Yeah, So yeah, it's interesting to like be on the other side because
we do still have so much insight into what it's like inside the company.
But yeah, yeah, I think people are maybe like, who are these
people? No? I mean I think that's why you're so exciting to talk
to other than the fact that you're both so awesome and fun to be around.
The personality is so great, but that what you guys used to do
is so interesting. Perfect guests for the podcast, like I couldn't imagine better
guests. Yeah, I mean it's been about two years, but things change
really slowly over there, So there's a lot that we don't know, but
there's a lot that we still like, you know, we have a pretty
good handle. I think when it gets to five, maybe maybe some changes
might have been made. Well. Company that's very slow moving when people cycle
out of the company because they control kind. I mean, I remember last
time one of the more interesting stories. I know this was game Freak,
but you talked about how they hated the idea of doing a nuzzlum because they
saw it as like a moud. So I can't imagine it must be like
the meme of that dog sitting in a fire right now with power around screaming.
We've been we've been talking about that a lot amongst ourselves too, Like
gosh, the vibe over there is probably like rancid, right because they're just
like I mean, they put out a statement which like was that for them
almost seems like a death threat. World is like a word that you cannot
say christanity at this point, do not even bring it up. I mean,
I'm working on a video about it, So I've been doing a lot
of dives into the whole situation. But the company themselves are cool pocket pal
like the developers, so like it's pretty unshameful, Like it's just that they
know what they're doing. They absolutely like hinge their initial marketing on the idea
of like Pokemon with guns, Like you said those that phrase, they said
that, I mean, they must have gotten it into somebody's head that that
was the coin, and then Jeff Keey said it with the words but yeah,
I'm sure they're just like breaking that pencil, like I can't believe this
is happening. And I think the other thing that was really interesting is like
they probably wrote this game off when they first. I think a lot of
people it's easy to I mean I did. I was like, that's going
to be goofy to particular, like a silly video about it. It's going
to say twenty million, yeah, and have the longevity that it's hacked so
far. And I think a lot of people in Nintendo and Pokemon Pobla are
like, Yeah, our games are way better than this. We don't have
to worry. This is what happens when you rest on your laurels. Yeah,
on your echo chamber. I guess just I don't even know what's happening
over there for them to think that their games are still cutting edge or good.
They kind of do have that mentality though, truly, like they are
very much like sort of we're a little bit better than the rest of them.
Do you think this would be a wake up call seeing POWW? I
hope so, because it's outsold Pokemon games, right, I can't just do
at this point. If they do learn from it, it will just take
time because everything is on such a cycle, and you know, certain years
are already figured out. It might generate three to five years. Right,
the next one comes out with crafting. They just missed the point completely and
they add crafting. All right, well, we can dive into that more.
There's a lot of stuff I want to talk about. And then we
also have a fun game planned because you guys, you guys always do a
lot of little fun games and activities in your in your episodes, so I
thought it would be fun to do ten Nintendo Memory moments for the Switch,
specifically either games or fun memories. And I want to hear yours because obviously
you guys were involved with the launch of the Switch, so hopefully there's some
fun memories there and it wasn't all stress at'll send off maybe yeah, so
last year, Well that leads in to the main topic, I think,
because I've been hearing a lot of rumors about a direct next week, and
I want to know what you guys think because people often assume I have inside
info and I kind of I kind of do this time, but I don't
know if it's correct. I do assume you guys have inside a info I
just get. I mean, you don't have any We use those relationships that
we keep keep those till now go on. We were talking about text just
kidding is there going to be a Nintendo direct today? So we're gonna need
to like real to deal with that. We didn't like plan you guys coming
in today for that reason. But when we planned for this day, we
all kind of had a feeling and an assumption that probably be a direct by
then that we can talk about maybe even on the day, And there were
heavy rumors that there was supposed to be one yesterday. That's what was flowing
up all the We're thinking like, oh man, are we going to be
on the plane or do we just do three of us will do you just
like a reaction. How do you get how do you get out the the
reaction? Wi Fi is not going to come. Yeah, so that didn't
happen. So I was thinking about this a lot and just like thinking about
we looked at all the historical timing of past February directs and so we're still
kind of in that window. But it isn't a there are Nintendo isn't a
weird spot right now because I really do think they're doing that like house cleaning
thing where they're just trying to get sort of the last of the news for
switch Ye out there, like focus on that, keep that rolling, yeah
until the end of the fiscal which is the end of March for them,
and then they can start fresh with all the switch to stuff. So they're
basically doing like the sweep. Yeah, that's why they were tweeting so much.
I think a lot, maybe like a week and a half ago and
they had like all those random little tweets like the launch day for the Platoon
side order thing. Oh yeah, they had one day like two weeks ago
where they had like a half dozen tweets. These are big enough where they
could be in a direct, but back to back to back what's going on
here. That's verish because yeah, that's not what you would attempt to do.
We would not attempt to overload people with tweets. Oh that's interest.
All the tweets are happening at six pm Pacific, which is like their global
timing because they that's what they do with directs, is they want the news
to hit. So you think that was like a little mini online tweet direct,
I kind of do, because that was like a lot of their first
party stuff, just like they basically just push that. This is so interesting
because of what I've heard also, so I so I've been saying this since
last week. I'm like, if they do a direct, it's going to
be teen C and kind of boring, or it's going to be a case
the showcase is what I heard, which is why it's interesting that you guys
are saying they tweeted out all their big stuff because I heard next week is
going to be a partner showcase. See that. I saw that around this
morning. Yeah, then they would basically they have all their sort of The
only thing we're missing right now is the launch date for a thousand year door.
That's the only big piece of news that would be like, would that's
into a partner showcase because theytually don't. Yeah, I don't think they would
do that. So unless they just do it again Vieta, the opposite of
what they did where they lead with bakugan and then they give you some paper
how we can do it both ways. Oh, maybe they'll learn a lesson
there because that was terrible. I mean there's other little things like the Nintendo
Museum. They could do a little segment on that. There's things they could
do if they needed fluff to fluff this stuff up. Yeah, the Donkey
date at Universal in Japan, they something like to introduce you to I don't
want to interrupt that. You see Ama was at Universal Studio. Yeah yeah
see Yeah, also looked very they had like these weird expressions on their faces.
Yeah they did. I always wanted stuff like that, strategic, you
know, like just get a little photo of him. No, they just
then and then the video came so mad at them right now, But they
can't be that mad because they're building a theme parks. Yeah, reference to
anyone that didn't catch that. So Universal Studios in Florida, they obviously it's
where Mario super Mario World is Anuma was there and he created Zelda, so
we already heard rumors that they were doing a Zelda park. But they have
that whole new like Epic Universal, the new park that they're building, which
I think will include another Super Nintendo World basically, but I think they have
more space. Yeah, because I haven't been to. Do they even have
a Nintendo World in Florida? Yea, they do, Orlando, they have
they have yeah the park right, Yeah, they're building it, right,
they're building it right. Okay, but those like controlled leagues teases, like
they don't do that stuff that's super hard to do in a way that works
and does not come off as like, yeah, I see what you did
there. It's also just like very high risk, so it's not something there
is a lot of us that the fans think is like, oh, they're
totally doing this on purpose to like tease us. They're pretty much. It
just seems so goofy to think that they would let that slip, that he
would be there and they wouldn't be like can we not film or photo around
this man please? Yeah? Or make him more like a mustache disguises,
Yeah, that would be good, like a Mario and Luigi mask or something
that would make it for a better Picture's probably a better photo. Yeah,
sorry I derailed us. You were talking about the direct. Yeah, but
I do think that partner showcase is very likely. But they do have sort
of these little mini pieces of news left still. Yeah, So I do
wonder how they would if they don't do like a traditional dream next week,
how would they handle that thousand year adults? Didn't they get revealed in that
direct with all the Mario stuff. Yeah, I got revealed in September,
so I could have got revealed just way too early because it was just the
Mario direct. So maybe it's coming like really late this year. It was
only twenty twenty four they said, right, Yeah, I mean, if
they're not adding a lot of new content to it, there's not much more
to say than just the date. So they can do that anytime. Yeah,
but if it is just you know, a partner direct or partner direct
mini, god forbid, Oh my god, that is the true the sign
of like, yeah, this is there's there's nothing left, Yeah, this
is it. Yeah. So we'll see. But I kind of get the
feeling that either way, even if it's a mainline direct like you were saying
this too, like people just should not get their hopes up, even if
it's a mainline direct. It's gonna probably way because they have they have ways
been like right, like getting a little more every time, and people like
to meme on it and be like, oh, it's boring now, But
it's because we're at the end. It's getting quiet. Just wait because it's
about to explode you again, which I'm so excited for. I know,
right, it's gonna be fun here. I think, I know. Yeah,
we're a good you to have a Nintendo podcast. I had a question
for you about that. We're so smart. So your like personal brand and
channel exploded so much around the Switch and your even like logo beat them up,
Logo has joy con and it does. Does that concern you at all?
That like it's a new generation for all of us, like the table's
getting reset from everybody. You haven't just realized this right now, I'm out,
it's over. It doesn't worry me. It actually excites me because I've
been doing this for seven years with the Switch and I still somehow make it
work, to the point where my YouTube manager often reminds me, I don't
know how you're doing this. You're still getting views on Switch stuff, and
I think that's because people just come to me for Nintendo stuff at this point.
So I'm really excited to merge over, to change my logo for the
first time in seven years. If there's no joy cons, and to start
talking about new stuff, I'm going to do all the same content. It's
just going to be around Nintendo's no thing, which, let's be real,
is most likely going to be another handheld console joy Conn. Yeah. I
don't see it being something too crazy or different, so it's almost like an
evolution for them and an evolution for me. So I'm excited for actually perfect
timing for you to do like a big brand refreshing for your stuff too.
I don't want to talk about me, but I'm already like trying to do
better content this year. I don't know if you guys. I know you
guys very busy, but I had a chance to watch my last video with
the seven years of the Switch. Yes, I really enjoyed it, thank
you. So that's kind of the direction I want to go in with higher
produced quality content. So I'm already going through a phase right now. So
if Ntinda wants to add to it. That would be perfect. Yeah,
that's awesome. Speaking of adding to it the new switch, you said something
earlier about the physical year and then wrapping up all the old stuff. So
what I have heard and I have nothing to back this up other than what
I've heard, but they're going to reveal the switch to in much that was
my prediction actually original on the same page, because I'm hearing things, You're
hearing things. Only makes sense just given when we launched so many hardware and
Nintendo like what their mindset is and how they strategize around a hardware launch that
is one hundred percent what they do. They clean up house like they're doing
right now in Tebruary, their fiscal ends in March. They did their financials
already, so they're all good there, showing a lot of strong numbers just
for the business overall. And then they announced this new thing when it's ready
for them to get people's attention to focus on. Yeah, and then that
makes a lot of it makes it makes a lot of sense for them.
You know, You've got to look at it as a business, right,
They're a company. They want to make money off of you, So that's
what they're going to be focused on it's like how to make the most money
off of you. And it's fine if there are some stragglers of Switch games
that are coming out after like that's a common practice, and there's people some
people are not going to immediately make the move for whatever reason, so it's
good to keep supporting. That probably won't be a lot, but no,
yeah, yeah, and they might be a lot of dual duels, you
know, dual ski kind of stuff, like we saw with Breath of the
Wild on we You and Scott and I last week we're talking about Metro Prime
four because usually when Nintendo promises a game for a console, they try and
deliver. Yeah, so we could see that being on both somehow, exactly.
Yeah, unless it's just gotten too big somehow, right, Yeah,
but I think they can probably work on both though, I mean, yeah,
for sure exactly. I mean it kind of worked on with you you
in like the demo phase and it was shaky, but yeah, yeah,
but I think, yeah, it's looking good for that March timing, and
it totally makes sense, which is going to be so exciting. It's gonna
be so exciting. It makes a lot of sense. I mean, the
Switch one released in March, so a good time to start hyping up a
new thing. And they always said they wanted to switch to last wall like
eight years. They wanted to try and drag it out for eight years.
Been At one point, I was like, that's a long time. I
remember. I remember hearing eight. I don't remember hearing ten. They like,
if they were revealing in Madge, she would probably come out what holiday,
Yeah, and that's getting the end of late summer, but that's getting
pretty close to eight. And it's like seven and a half years. Ye
switch around the Switch like life cycle. I keep saying weird numbers, and
everyone keeps calling me out there like it's not eight years. It's been a
long time. I didn't know it was seven until I sat down to write
my video. Yeah, I was like I thought it was six, and
I was like seven, it's been like ten years. I've been buying accessories
for seventy years for every year that we worked in Nintendo. During the launch
of Switch, that's at three years dog year, because it was a dog
year. We were exhausted, Like it was like, yeah, I don't
I would like to not repeat that. It's not a favorite memory. Of
the switch. I mean, no, it is, but it's just hard.
That's why it's fun being on this side with you guys. Now you
don't do anything midday for an hour, yeah, relaxing, yelling at you.
Yeah no, I mean yeah, we don't have to meet the new
forecast. It's been raised by twenty million no quotas. Although if this episode
doesn't hit one hundred thousand years, I will be coming after you for fonus
free tweets. Okay, yeah, make here we go. Yeah. So
it's gonna be fun to have the you know, the ability to just enjoy
a hardware launch from the outside. You know, since we were into the
last one I enjoyed from the outside, was we Oh so that I'm old
now, so so that's how many generations I've gone through, not ever having
just to be a fan. Yeah, and now we get I mean we're
gonna have to deal with like crazy stuff like can we get dreading? Yeah,
the process of getting you still want to cover it. That's always one
of the worst things about being It's not a bad thing. I'm not complaining,
but like launch day, right, you get the new thing, you
just want to sit there and vetch you out, but you got to,
like, you gotta be taking notes and playing it for a couple of hours.
Then you start shooting the video video, and then you're editing for a
day or two and it's just the new thing is sat there just want to
play it. Yeah, that's the worst, but also the best. Yeah
is that exactly? And and kids terrified because he's like, there's gonna be
scalpers. We're never I mean, it will be a man. Do you
remember trying to get a switch at launch? I don't know what it was
like for you guys, well you might we were able to well for me,
I was Canada at the time, and I remember driving to like every
EB games in my area trying to get a pre order and I finally found
one and they only had gray ones left. They didn't have colored ones,
and it was like one of the last ones. Yeah, I got Breath
of the Wild and I lined up super early in the morning to make sure
I got mine because there were people in the line without pre orders that didn't
get one, and then they were hard to find for a minute. I
remember, Yeah, I mean at launched, these things are going to be
hard no matter what they what the analysts are saying about how many chips they're
making or whatever it is that we've been hearing, like yeah, sixteen million
chips have been made for the new console or whatever it is. I mean,
I think it's just going to be hard. I think they should prep
for a big launch, though, I'm sure they will, because the PlayStation
thing was a nightmare. I mean there's just so much interest and demand,
and yeah, there's there's no incentive for these retailers either to do better with
the processes because it's like, hey, it's sold out. We did our
job right, Yeah, Like because I used to work on a Mibo and
after the you know, a dozen ambo freak out of like this thing sold
out. People had no idea. People are mad. I remember lining up,
I tried to talk to like, is there anything that we can do?
Can we give people heads up? There? Like out of our hands.
It's like the retailers all the shots, the worst ones were like the
SNS minis then, Yeah, why are we marketing this? We're marketing a
product that no one can get making. People are like flaming mad. They
want to like burn the place down because like everything, is there a strategy
behind it? Is it like if people want to seem more exciting strategy,
people are like they're doing this on purpose, they're holding the stuff purpose to
like create in some aspect of when it happens to this many times, you
can't blame people for wondering how you're so ill prepared. It's like every time
Xbox launches an online game and the sw is like, we didn't expect this
many players? Really, how odd is it? Well, you may you
may notice there if you go to certain retailers there are still Animal Crossing a
Mebo on the shelves. That was maybe the one time they really like,
oh yeah, Mebo Festival and they really like overdid it, and like that
was like the years later, they're still there taking for a fun game.
Yeah, So it's like better to like keep it small, keep it reasonable,
make sure you're actually going to sell it, versus like I have years
to pay off of this. I like that might have been the scroll that
broke the back for them, Like they were like, Okay, we'll try
it this one time. We'll do too much stock of Ambi Festival, Animal
Crossing and the game game Okay, yeah, true, but it was terrible.
It was terrible. Well, and then I didn't sell well, and
they were like from now on, never stop again each Yeah, so we'll
have to deal with that. I mean, that's gonna be fun for us
to just document all of it, you know, because again, I haven't
had that experience since we you know, lining up outs at a target at
five am to get a weave was what I did that when I did that
year, it was like, definitely an interesting experience. I can film you
crying outside of the game stop. That's in the morning. Good views because
I'll say, on this side of things, when they are hot to find,
that's when the views are good. YEA. Dramming that up podcast,
we should collab. We should like to do like a cross country yeah,
or I come to you guys and do your podcast. Yeah, and then
we can like go search and for switch twos together and we'll go switch to
Honting together. That'll be fun like that. Yeah. So I think it's
going to be you know, I think those rumors are pretty I feel pretty
good about those, Like the March Oh yeah, no, I definitely I
feel good about the the direct next week happening. Yeah. The March thing
is I've heard that, but there's no proof. Other than like a vibe.
Yeah, if that direct happens, that March thing is even more like
use again. They've cleaned the well clean so they can like next week while
we're alive. If it's happened, I'll cool you guys, and we'll have
a victory. Yell we can Yeah, and then and then I I think
it is time for them to you know, start to transition people over,
you know, to thinking about the next thing, and they're going to start
to communicate. I think everybody is ready. We were ready for a pro
console like two years ago. Yeah, Like we on the flight over here,
we were both like, this is like the first time that we kind
of don't have anything to play on the switch. It's like I've got I'm
trying to play a five Royals Still, I've been playing that for a year.
Long, play ten minutes of this, ten minutes of that. There's
not like the one thing that's new that's like, yes, down with this.
The last new game I played was Prince of Persia, and ever since
then, the yeah, that was okay, I thought I thought I'd like
that more. It was bad, but but after I played that, that
was sort of the only new game this year and then I put the switch
down. Haven't touched it since this. It sucks. I hate the switch.
I think we need to go to an ad. Okay, go to
an ad. Baby, it's been half an hour already running out of time.
Jeez. Oh we love coffee. Oh my god, coffee. You
know it feels weird doing this without Bob, but I still love coffee.
I drink coffee. I drink a lot of coffee. And this is all
my coffee. Is it really from trade? That one's a special one because
I don't know what's in there yet. You can open it if you want.
That came this morning as I was leaving. It was like, oh,
your beans came. I'm really excited to talk about these reanimated beans.
Though I'm currently working on this bag at home, which is why it's empty.
But I got this bag recently. It's from Philly. Oh, and
it literally was roasted. This was roasted on the fifth and I only got
this a few days ago. I love that the first bag I got was
roasted the day before it showed up. That's amazing. Get fresher beans.
Yeah, when you go to the supermarket, you don't know when those are
cooked months ago. Yeah, it's not five years ago. What did you
get over there? I got the Irving Farm New York Coffee Coffee Irving Farmer
New Coffee Coffee. When nos Jures, Brazil has a milk, chocolate,
peanut and toffee this Valentine's season, let your significant other, friends and family
know how much you care. Would the gift of trade coffee. It would
be romantic to give someone coffee. Yeah, I think so. I'll definitely
be making kim coffee with these beans, some chocolate covered beans. I'd be
nice to you. So. These beans are sourced locally and freshly roasted to
order from fifty five local roasters across the country, delivered directly to your door
whenever you want it. I used to do a decaf you remember that.
Yes, I'm back on the full thing, baby. And you can just
go online and be like, I want this, I want that, send
me this, send me this now. And it's just they just do it.
They just do it. They just do it. They just do it.
You can pick the number of coffee bags you want a gift, and
Trade Coffee will take care of the rest. And the best part is it's
not a one time thing where trade Coffee's subscription. Your gift keeps on giving
now through February fourteenth, which is Valentine's Day. Yes, Trade Coffee is
offering ten dollars off a gift subscription. Just use code Nintendo ten. Oh
Nintendo ten at drink Trade dot com forward slash nontender. That's drink Trade dot
com forward slash nontender coffee. Oh, we're not it's back. Why did
you do You added another seconds? No, I didn't. We're here you
you re rendered it? No, back to the one pickup. Uh.
While while that ad was playing, we were still chatting, of course,
and we were talking about the Xbox situation, because you seem to have a
lot of things to say about all these Xbox games going everywhere else, but
it includes switch switches involved in this, right. Well, I think you
know Microsoft, they became like the biggest company in the world, they passed
Apple. And you don't get to be the biggest business in the world by
being in bad businesses. And I think this business of like Mega Triple A
Games is now a very bad business. Oh them specifically, yes, and
for Sony and for everybody else. Oh, it's like super high risk.
It's like, yeah, one one one failure on those can sink your whole
thing, So they need a way to spread out the risk. So I
don't think it's that different than what PlayStation is doing putting games on PC.
Oh, you have a you have a hot take. If they want to
put it all, you have a spy on PlayStation, putting it on switch,
putting it on whatever, like a year later, that's great. They
need to spread things around because they don't like the way this is right now.
This is because like think about Starfield for example, they're like, biggest
game of last year? Did it? Did it hit the way that I
think? But that but that was an Xbox is well the consoles right,
the game suck. But it's like the same thing we were saying with Nintendo
and the sales expectations, Like these big businesses, like they're not joking around.
It's like top stuff or you failed. So how much money it costs
to make a triple a title time and resources is unreal these days. Like
ten years later you get a game like Starfield that and it doesn't hit.
That's so you've lost. So imagine and it would never happen, But imagine
GDA six flopping after spending billions of dollars and time time ten ten exactly that
studios stretch, your business is over, So I do. Yeah, I
think that that is their mentality of like potentially doing this multi platform thing that's
very you know. I think people have feelings about it either way, but
I mean for them as a business, it's like, well, now we
can like have another way to kind of spread it around where it doesn't just
rest on one project or to go well or not. So I think it's
a good idea, but I think what sucks is like they're constantly on the
back foot and they're constantly like overwhelmed with rumors, and the rumors spread so
much that people just assume that yeah, stuff always, yes, this is
the truth. Yeah. So and then it's like Spencer's always we're listening to
you or like to present our business. I've always really like, yeah,
it's been like very out there and very transparent. It created gas a war,
right, like he was heavy in that project. When we're thinking of
someone else, I'm not sure, but I mean it's been ten years of
bad stuff, like since the Xbox three sixty it's been really tough for Xbox.
So they need to do something different. I mean, they're very clearly
in third place. Yeah, I mean I don't think, I mean,
what happens to that console at that point people buying it just for game pass?
Well that's the other thing is that they've been so sort of hot and
cold on like what is the point of you, Xbox? Like what what
place do you have in my like gaming entertainment space, like switch switches a
very clear proposition of what that is. PS five has really clear of what
that is, you know. But Xbox they changed their messaging all the time.
It's like, are we a game pass machine for a year? Yes?
Are we about exclusives for a year? Yes? Now we're about multiplatform
stuff, about cloud gaming, like what are you? At one point they
wanted to be the one at home unit of the Xbox. Yeah, that
was when all the problems started. When they revealed this new Xbox. Remember
it was like the most powerful Xbox ever, the most powerful piece of hard
wherever. And then that didn't last long and then the message became, well
we're the game pass box, get this, And now they seem to be
pivoting, like having three messages for your system in a single generation. Bad.
Yeah, they were trying to find that place, kind of like the
we you miss miss mishaps, like they couldn't figure out, like we couldn't
figure out how to make it in one sentence, clearly tell people why this
thing is cool. And I think Xbox is having that problem too, Like
they can't tell you because they don't know themselves. Just tell us, why
do you think it's cool? Like you don't sell us on it? Yeah,
that's your job to sell us on it and like get us to buy
in. Yeah, because right now I think we're one confused and then two
we're like, well, this isn't cool because you know, I have other
things to occupy my time, and that I do think is cooling. Going
ahead to head with Sony when the steaks are that high, it is just
we have to we have to back out of this right now and go in
a different direction. So I don't hate it, but I'm curious to see
what the actual specific It's going to be very interesting. So they have that
business update, Great job and interesting. You mentioned this while we're in the
break, But this connects even more dots because we were talking about Gears of
War and possibly high fire rush coming to switch events could be connected. Yes,
because in the partner showcase that we're talking about maybe happening next week,
that could be where we see being announced. And that could be why Xbox
can't say it right now exactly because they got to wait till next week.
This is our board, you know, with the pin for sure, but
it's connecting. Yeah, that could That could absolutely. If it doesn't happen,
we're going to look very silly. There was a cool theory though,
yeah, But you know, I think that that be very reasonable for them
to talk about it in conjunction with some kind of announcement around those games,
especially High Fire Rush has been heavily remrged. It's such a cool game.
I got Kim playing it the other day. I even't try to get it's
so like, I love it so much because I love Devilmycry, Hack and
Slashes all of that, but it's a rhythm game set to really cool music.
It like starts with a black Key song and the whole intro of the
game, the whole cut scene is set to that song. And Kim loves
like Animal Crossing and cozy games. She doesn't really play anything like up Beato
Action, but she loves music and I was like, just sit down and
try it. She was like, okay, I'm not gonna like it.
She played it for like four hours and didn't want to stop. It's so
cool. It's such a good game. Hard to find, like a really
heavy hitting rhythm game these days. I know that actually works, you know.
Yeah, Well, rhythm game is a real hit or miss because you
exactly, no matter what kind of game it is, you have to be
in the mood to do something to a rhythm. But something that High Fire
Rush does really well is you don't have to do anything to the rhythm.
It's just your attacks won't be a sh strong and you're better off paying attention
to the rhythm. Yeah, but you're not forced to. Yeah. Well
it's on game Pass, So I switch next week, Switch next week.
Yes, maybe that's what. I'm also very excited at the idea of Gears
coming to the Switch, even though I've played all those games a thousand times
on my favorite series and I don't get to talk about it often because nobody
cares. For some reasons. Was incredible so much Gears, Remember, I
mean I even love four and five. Okay, I mean the first three
were definitely the best, but I would love for it to come to Switch
like the Trilogy pack, because people not enough people have played it. Right,
we have one hundred and thirty million Switch users. I would just love
more people to get access to that game specifically. I mean so many of
these like classic Xbox franchises just fell off. I know what happened to these
Gears was Gears was revolutionary for its time. I think it invented the cover
based system. One of the biggest franchises in gaming for a couple of years.
I mean, talks about it. It's really sad. It's so so
disappointing. Yeah, I mean they need to come back. They do need
a little bit of We've been talking about the Xbox comeback for like two years
now, like after this dequisition, I think it's gone. I mean,
they need to do something. I was so as I've been an Xbox right
on diefan for a long time. I've given up now. But like if
you guys ever managed to come to my house, I have all my original
three sixty games and it's my largest collection. I loved the three sixties.
Hailo. What happened to it? Look at it now, it's so disappointing
gears a war fell off. And then I honestly thought when they bought all
of those studios, like what was like five years ago, when they bought
a hundred studios, I was like, it's happening. This is the time
they announced Fable and all this other stuff. There's not been like a game.
It is strange how they bought all those studios and that has nothing much
to speak of. There's there's not a game. Where is any of the
games even some of the games from the new studios? What was that vampire
game that really was? It's like, it's so disappointing that you have all
of these studios that can be great, great and that was a great studio
too. Guess what happened? What happened? Get very confused by that,
Like how is that possible? You don't have a process in place to like
make sure the quality is there for this really reputable studio that you purchased,
Like, I don't get it. I don't know. I don't They said
they gave them all the freedom to do whatever they wanted, but I just
I don't know, because they can make good stuff. Maybe they didn't need
freedom. Maybe they needed someone to tell you yeah, and then we're very
early in the Activision stuff but that's not going great where they laid off all
these people and they closed Toys for Bomb, which I love Scotland. Yeah.
Development that's a sad story though, because they made the Crash and the
Spiral Reignited trilogy, they made Crash four, they did Skylanders, and then
Activision buys them out and they're like, you make Cool of Duty, now
just do cool and you know studios and you know, all they're doing is
like patch fixes and like touch. They're not actually doing anything, not that
there's anything fun to do on Cool of Duty, like the creed of stuffing
they were used to doing. Like how do you go from making Crash for
to like, hey, we need to patch fix the AAR fifteen. It's
a little too strong, Like can can Toys for Bob do that? That's
so disappointing and now they just let go. It's too bad. It's really
sad. So we'll see if there is any sort of comeback to be had.
But it's like an all shaky. I want to come back with toys
for Bob, So I want to come back. Where's our? Where's our?
We want the new Skylanders. Would you think if you're a first party
those franchises would be good to put in your portfolio? I know, right,
like now we have something for you know, younger people and classic fans.
But no, I don't really understand. Just funnel it into CUD because
that's going so well well. I'm I mean, I hope that we get
high fighting gears on the switch. The Starfield thing is interesting because they bought
that out. They bought it. They paid a lot of money for Bethesta
to get that game. Oh yeah. I don't know if this is just
my speculation, but I feel like they just needed a game out asap because
it's been five years of Xbox with nothing, so they told them to release
it and it clearly wasn't done and then didn't do very well, and now
it's coming to PlayStation, So good job Xbox. Good Investments is saying that
Toys for Bob the business didn't close. Their location closed. Yeah, I
saw that, but then the person or something, but the person that tweeted
it doubled down and said, no, they they are also closed. Can
we get confirmation. I've heard I've heard that, but then I heard it
reversed on the other side where no, they are closed. I hope that
not. Has anyone checked on Bob Justice for toys for Bob? How are
his toys? Did you want to get into Skylanders? I tried it at
the time. I didn't like the whole I've got to like buy this toy
to get through this door. Really I felt like that game. It was
we played a lot of Yeah, I think I might like it now because
then Starling came out, and weirdly I loved it instead of thought it was
fun. I think that game is underrated. A lot of people say that
it's bad, but I thought it was all the fun and the little toys
and stitching the guns out. Yeah, I would give it a shot.
How many plays is is Skylander too? Yeah? Which one you wanted to?
Like? Low Steaks, Diablo y kind of dungeons, characters and personality
and Hans did the soundtrack? Oh my god, Spiro is in one right?
Yeah? That one to play? That was like the main character in
the of the first game. And they would always come with Spiro and the
little start Start Yeah, the little figure. So which one which I didn't
play with it? Oh, I'm sorry. Robot was the one that.
Yeah, I'm gonna cut. Oh there's a tweet. Yeah, there's a
tweet thing. I also got confirmation. Oh great, okay, so they're
just working remotely. I mean, it's not a great song. It's not
a step in the not a step in the right direction. But that's better.
We don't want them to close. They're still loving it. Give more
toys. That's what I've always said, all the toys. Can you when
you bring it? While you're there? Can you bring up the TikTok?
I was going to show earlier, speaking of your hot takes, there was
something I wanted to show real quick because this is always not only did this
pop up in my feed, but is it accidentally got pinned to my my
web browsers. So I watch it every time I open TikTok. It starts
here and then I have to leave. They don't have to do this to
make the switch to it. Would you like to know? Why can they
hear that too? The whole point of a new console, generation console is
that you make it so cool and such a huge jump forward that people don't
really want to play the old thing. I think I think right now people
want it because they are still the switch generation, So your sentiment day is
about backwards compatibility and how you feel that it's not needed. Still take there
are games from their backlog. It's like, oh my gosh, my bad,
we're still playing it more. They still collect. But think, I
mean think, think to when the switch came out, Like did you when
was the last time you touched your Wiu after that or wei you game?
You think of all the heart at that moment? How often? Now,
why do you think? Why do you think I brought this up? Because
you reached out to complimently after this I did? Did I actual messaged you?
I was like, man, that's such a good saying because at the
time it was funny because Bob and I will yelling back and forth by the
backwards compatibility thing, and we literally full in the same fans as you two.
Like you, I'm guessing, just don't believe that or follow that.
Well, I now you know, with it's pretty clear that the next switch
is going to be backwards compatibility straight up success or to switch. I don't
think that they It would bode well for them not to have backwards competitive yeah,
because if they're going a wave to a whole different form factory thing,
like they're like, we're doing VR. They're not doing VR. But let's
say that that's what they decided to to the TikTok clip. Then then it's
like, yeah, we're moving to this whole other form factor, this whole
thing that's completely different from Switch. There is no backwards compatibility. You're gonna
be playing this cool new thing. And I love it. Like I can
see his sort of like what you were saying, do you feel the same
now that it kind of seems like we're going in the hybrid direction again.
I mean, I wouldn't be shocked if they have it. I think it's
a great gesture for all the Switch fans. It's a good way to carry
people over. But I mean if they have like a twenty seventeen esque launch
year, that is just going to melt your face off, Like I think
people would get over it fast. I agree. I mean, we've been
through a lot of console generations and those older old hardware gets old fast.
When you go back to it's like, ooh, this is right. Well.
I mean, I tweeted DMG for a reason because I agree. I
think this is a take that a lot of people don't consider because they just
want backwards compatibility so bad, but there's still an argument to be made about
whether or not the Switch would be successful without it. And I think if
the console is good and has a lot of good games worth buying it for,
it shouldn't need backwards compatibility. That shouldn't be something that's a selling feature.
It's just nice to have, especially when they're playing this game now,
where it's like, what are the things we can put in to get to
the price point that we need to be at? Yeah, exactly, And
there's there's just some things that have become nice to have that you have to
say no to. Yes. That conversation rolls directly into digital only next system
and then people freak out. I don't like that. I don't like that.
But the Switch ain't doing that well, then Tender's not doing that because
they made so much money from their hardware sales, their physical video games,
the like retail. I think they I think they made more money from physical
than this, So I don't think they're willing to make that switch as eagerly
as Xbox might be. Who can't sell a game you won't buy that skew
It's how they had the digital only What if it's all you can get.
I don't think okay with that. Don't look at me like I'm a digital
girl. So I mean Nintendo was so far behind, like we've talked about.
But they also started as a toy company, and I think they just
like physical things. They like to touch toys and lick The cards tastes great.
Did the kids the children? Think of the kids? We could think
of the children. We could talk all day. We had more things on
the list, but I had you guys prepare a top ten list of favorite
switching it from the list. I need to know what's not making it.
Oh my god, I can tell you Disney buys one point five billion steak
in epic games for Fortnite, toys for Bob closed down. We accidentally talked
about that one. A list of switch games coming this month. Don't worry,
there's none other than Marian Donkey Kong between three Side Order, which is
second um persona three thoughts. I was, you know, that was like
getting desperate, which I can't start that because I'm still playing five. Last
night I was grinding away at Royal. It's a series I'm afraid to get
into because the reasons they're best selling one today. It's it's so good.
Persona is so good? Are you still playing Persona? How many hours into
five? Of you? Maybe like seven? Oh my god, I'm ninety
for ninety five seven and my friend told me I have at least twenty hours
left. So never going to make five or Royal Royal? Yeah, your
screen. You should have brought it on the plane. That could have been
your playing game. But it's like Disney Dreamlight Valley. That's a good plane.
That's it. That was every and you did awful and sweaker game.
We kind of crushed it. Oh. I was going to ask you how
you felt hitting one hundred episodes? Pretty cool? Yeah, But where I
means for us is like cool milestone, but we're going to obviously keep going.
It wasn't like we had a number of mine. It was like whence
we hit, It's not like one of you was trying to quit, right,
Yeah, contraction obligation met goodbye. Yeah. So for us it was
more so like, oh, good, that's neat, and like, let's
keep going as long as we can, you know yea. Yeah, I'm
really happy for you guys, Proud of you guys. Also, when when
this show was in Jeopardy, you messaged me and just check up on me.
I don't know if it was as it was happening or when I decided
to keep it going. I don't know at what point you messaged me.
It was like that after that episode, that first episode where you shared everything,
I really appreciated that that was I mean it made us think similarly about
ourselves and like, what if when we were in that like we would not
continue on. That would be the end? Would it be? We talked
about this, Yeah, surprised. Kind of feels like that might be a
one way So, I mean like there were times so like there were a
number of times that she almost left Nintendo for other things and it was like,
well Nintendo minutes definitely would have ended. It's like, well that I
understand, it just would have been. Yeah, I think that it is
hard. I think when we've been together for so long doing this stuff,
like we just feel so like out out of place to do it usual.
You know, you started, you and Bob started as individuals, came together.
In many ways, we have always been a duo. There was there
was that Chrystal channel before Christa who came together. Yeah, so it's a
bit of a different situation different, Well, like what would you do if
like that happened you just forever? Yeah? My dream is when I'm like
old, you know, I'll like just like leave for like an island,
and I'll delete all of my channels. I plan channels came down and then
I'll just like not ever look at the Internet again. No, that's I
think as a creator, how would that be? At some point, we're
all just going to erase the Internet and we're happily ever your own little animal
crossing island, I r l oh, yeah, we should all buy islands
next. We don't have island money. I don't know. Maybe shocking twist,
just like an animal crossing, you'll go there and we'll chop down trees
and we'll stop building islands in the Caribbean that are not that expensive. How
much bass do you need? Not much for a bone? There you go.
So that's our that's our retirement point. Okay, great, we're good.
We'll look that in now, pinky promise. All right, we need
to get to our list. So we have favorite Nintendo Switch memories. We're
doing this now. Is it's all about to end in March according to our
predictions, you guys can go first. Guess first. Please, we have
ours in chronological order. Yeah, oh I have mine in favoritism order.
Okay, Okay, that's fine, that's cool. Okay. Ours is the
first time seeing and playing the switch, which happened the summer of twenty sixteen.
Was that like early before anyone else was so like they brought like,
you know, we're getting ready for this, this announcement which is happening.
That that announcement happened in October, like we need everybody to be ready,
and like they had units there and we got like it was an all day
thing where they took us through it and had a good number of games there
for us to see, and it was like the perfect initiation. What was
your thoughts? Like amazing? Yeah, that was the thing because we went
into it so nervous because we were so down and out from the WU generation.
Yeah, like when you were going there, what did you think you
were going to see? Like what was the new hardware? We knew that,
like we've been we've been talking about planning for the announcement for a while.
At that point, we had an EX console. An EX console,
Yeah that's right, which is still cool name right, Yeah, they should
have kept it. Maybe Nintendo Switch X is all right, we'll give that
to you Nintendo for free. So yeah, there was relief. The other
thing that I really remember feeling was like they nailed the form factor of this
thing. This does not feel like like the original DS fat where it's like
eventually we'll get into something that's cool, Like no, this is sleek and
great, like yeah, very sleek day. But now you look at it
and you look at that bezel and you're like, it still pretty okay.
Like I mean, they definitely like kind of made that screen look a little
bit more like more high tech and more futuristic. But yeah, I do
remember that first moment when they told us the name. They told us to
hold it, you know, and then play with the take the joy con
on and off, like do the do all the different modes. TV mode,
tabletop mode is just a total throwaway. But like I do remember that
moment where I was like, thank goodness, like I just need a wave
of just like swept through because it was your job to promote and market it,
right, the complete opposite feeling with you when they told us the name
and then told us to hold the game pad and I was like, oh,
like this, like this like tightening around your heart, like this is
going to be bad. But it was the complete opposite. I was like,
don't that do you think again? Like I just couldn't, like emotionally,
none of us could not do on either end as a consumer at the
time, I couldn't stay that at all, right, like that it would
have been terrible. So it was just the sense of like, I think,
relief and then quickly turned into excitement because we're like, yes, so
bad and we were just so excited to like launch it, like work on
it, you know, and it just felt real and like just the promise
of like we're turning the strip around in that moment was really cool. Yeah.
Man, that's such a great moment. Yeah. It's chronical because all
right, well mine is in order of my favorite, so starting with your
favorite no no, no, no, yeah, so just a number.
My number ten is getting addicted to playing games on the go on my Switch,
playing games all night long. I became a bedtime gamer, playing so
many games at night, and because of that, I have never in my
life as a game of played a console as much as Switch. So it
just came with me everywhere, and like I played the three DS a lot,
but I still preferred the home console experience. So I was playing with
you a lot at that time. But this is both when I'm home I
was docking it, and when I was in bed or anywhere else I was
playing Switch. I wish I knew my total hours on this thing, because
I told you, I know that the years, how much you probably estimated.
I think I don't think I can. I mean, because I've done
so much, I've reviewed so much, I've played so much, like a
ridiculous number, it would be insane. But yeah, I've never spent so
much time with one console. And that's this is wildly specials on the Switch
too. Obviously, I know we have a lot of things A Chief's true,
though, Like I developed like a lot of new gaming habits because of
Switch. Like I also became that like gamer that would play in bed and
my devices would be like all over my bed when I woke up the next
morning, I have like a switch and like my phone. It was a
joke with me and my wife Kim, because I would sleep with my Switch.
It's always in the bed. I put it on, and I would
I had these other like weird habits where I would play like while I was
cooking, so like I'll like everywhere make soup, and like as it's like
going, I'm like I might switch out, you know. So I developed
all these weird things because it was such a cool form factor of like you
could take it and you can like it made me a handheld game of really
truly, like I've always had handholds growing up, but I was always a
home sitting on the couch guy. Yeah, but I love handhelds now and
like, I know it's off topic, but steam Deck and rug Ally and
trying out all of these and finding a place in my life for these handhelds
now because I'm just so addicted to always playing something handheld. It does definitely
make a game like a Persona less daunting because they have a lot of different
ways to I wouldn't be TV without the switch. Yeah right. The next
one next, what we got next week have first time playing Breath of the
Wild. So this needs an asterisk because this is actually we played the WU
version, but it still counts. It still counts. So this was prior
to E three twenty sixteen, and again, you know, we had heard
about this game I had seen bits and pieces of it leading up to it
because I was just kind of working in this special role on it. But
this was our first time getting hands on and we had the demo you know,
that was eventually at E three, and that was the E three with
the whole booth was Breath of the Wild that I went beautiful. It was
an incredible booth right right, and I think you and I came back like
this, this was a religious experience like I have never like everything is changing,
like this is going to be my favorite game ever countered by. There
was an executive in our group who had played the game where it was like
we're we're in deep trouble, really hate this. Oh. We were like,
I think we're gonna be okay. It was like he was like talking
up a storm to like region people people again, like we shouldn't hinge our
entire three booth on this game. It's gonna flop and we have no nothing
to back off. Funny, and we both were like was serious. Even
from like fifteen minutes, it was like this this is show, this is
changing everything that is going to be incredible. It is funny because it was
kind of the way it happened for games too. I mean ninety five percent
of people were enamored by it. Yeah, but that was that five percent
that think it like ruined the franchise, they can't play it, and yeah,
so he was just in that five percent. I guess it was so
interesting though, because then that was another sort of proof point of like,
yeah, the ship is turning around. Like we kept getting that throughout twenty
sixteen as we were leading up to all of these big announcements and stuff,
and we're just like, thank goodness, Era down and they came back so
strong, huh with the console and a game that year. Honesty also was
that year. Yeah, I think they knew it was like let's save our
strength, let's build it up with this huge burst for the next thing.
Yeah. It's like an RPG where you like defend for like seven holds it
up on you. Yeah, so I think, yeah, that was definitely
another moment where you just felt like, Okay, everything's finally going to be
okay after this whole endurance of like like that your first to so far,
I've just been like jobs are safe, figure, please are My mental state
cannot take more of the downtimes. So yeah, Wow, that's so.
It's also crazy that we would have been at the same place. Then I
wonder if if you want to fly on the wall, if we walk past
each other. And every time I had a horribly three to be honest,
because you guys sent me there as an ambassador. But then when I got
there, they had no idea I was coming, and I wasn't on any
kind of list. My contact wouldn't reply, and so I had a friend
in the end, just get me a visitor badge. And while I was
in E three, no one wanted to talk to me, like no one
on the floor, none of the game devs. I couldn't get into the
Nintendo thing because I didn't have a Nintendo Metal Jesus ended up sneaking me in
to the Zelda thing. That was the only reason I got in, even
though I was sent by the ambassador. Progress. Oh, and I went
all the way from Seattle to California. That's fine. I didn't take over
the program until later. No, it's it's dead. Its Bob sent pizza
to his house. Okay, number eight, No, No, no nine
for me? Oh my god, we go, I'll make mine quick.
Mine's actually is a game Dragon Quest Builders one and two. Really, yeah,
I played out of those games. Yeah, that was a It's such
a weird time in my life as a gamer, because everything up to Switch,
I was very much a triple A gamer at that point. I loved
Nintendo's first parties, I loved all the big companies first parties. I wasn't
really willing to dive into anything else. I was unfamiliar with and crafting games
I thought I hated up until that point, I did like I tried Minecraft
and I was like, why would anyone play this? It's not fun?
And then dragon Quest came out. I was in throes of reviewing really anything
that came to Switch, and getting a Square Enix game was like, this
would be good views. So I started playing dragon Quest Builders one and I
fell in love with that is felt in love one of my favorite games.
I got addicted to the crafting and I made this video called like I'm addicted
to this Switch game because I didn't think anyone would even know what Builders is.
And then that was one of my own videos that really blew up and
then spawned a whole series of me being addicted to games where I wouldn't tell
you what the game is until you were watching the video and then the sequel
came out and I was addicted to that too, and now I love crafting
games like I love Yeah, it rocked my world as far as crafting games
went, yea and happened? Does it really well? Because it's the story
that's attached to it, maybe you like actually care about the craft The story
is really quick. I just needed to build a hospital because I was like,
I cannot let this person die. I need to say the little girl
I know. Did you play the second one? I did? Yeah,
the story was so long, and they added multiplayer online so four people can
build together in a world runs like cobbage on the switch, like the online.
When you build too much stuff, the frame rates starts to drop,
but it's still so much fun. Yeah, it's a great game. That's
a good one. I didn't even have that on our on our list of
games. People very often, even in streams now, will come in and
be like, you played Dragon Quest Builders recently, Like it's synonymous with me
in a way. That's it's cool that it changed I like mind about a
certain genres. Well that did, and then something else that's coming as well.
We have to wait for that. Our next one is something that I
was working on when I because I was in charge of all of the marketing
for launching the hardware, the Switch hardware, and one of the things I
got to do was this like really fun sort of like press and creator tour
with Koizumi and Chakahashi, which you guys probably see on all those rerecs now,
but they were really like the guys behind the hardware, and so they
basically came to the US and I took him on like a US press tour,
and there are these moments with Koizumi, especially where he would just like
do these things where he's like taking the joy con off the switch and like
like putting it into the different modes, and it was like magic. We
called it, like PR magic. Well, he had a jacket that was
also called PR magic and it would come in a garment bag and like piece
of tape and somebody PR magic. Yeah. I had to like I was
in charge of that for TGA later that year, I was like putting out
tagline and then but like there was something like weird about the way that he
was using his hands like practicing these moves. Yeah, it was like like
slide of hand stuff like a yeah, yeah, it was like a deck
of cards became like you know, doves or whatever. But it was really
fun like getting to know him that that whole year. I really got to
know him because then I worked in Odyssey after that, and it was just
like, yeah, you were like a genius, you know, like you
definitely had magic this vision, you know, and and I think that was
also the year where we just had so much stuff that we were doing with
all the developers, Like you were, he was minute, he was great.
Yeah, like you were. You were tied basically, like you know,
handcuffed to Miss Numa for like that entire year launching Breath of the Wild,
and so I thought you meant literally for the magic trick. But it
was cool to like get so much you know, insight from the people that
actually made it, you know. So yeah, it was it was a
really interesting like project to work on, just to hear from the horse's mouth,
like what all this stuff means? Like you explained to me what the
HD rumble is and why I should care. I kind of don't care,
but I care so much about that, but the way that you're explaining it,
like I'm so in Yeah, not the little ice cubes and the demonstration
it was also cool. That was cool. Yeah, that was cool.
Then every other game was just used it again, there's action, there was
some Mario Wanda did a subtle thing where when you run across. Yeah,
that is very cool. Really make or breaking the experience exactly. Okay,
that was so cool. Okay. My number eight all the Smash reveals.
Every reveal for Smash was so exciting. We haven't related, we do.
It was a highlight of every direct. I picked out some favorites personally,
Uh, to start with just the original reveal for Smash as it was so
cool that trailer of the Platoon squidding. It's so happy and they're like and
you think it's something Splatoon, and then the even the part before that where
she starts to slow down. I can only hear the footsteps and then everything's
black. You know, it's so cool an anime. He just is his
creative genius. He is really cool in that way. Creatively. He reminds
me of Kjmer in many ways with the way they think about their presentation of
things. Yeahmatic, but that also a reveal for Splatoon characters being in Smash
because I don't think they were before that, ye, right, so it's
kind of like a double and then from there. I really liked Banjo's reveal
because they didn't they did like a little fake out even though you knew what
was coming. Sora's revealed the last one because the last character gonna be there
is so much interest that it made so much sense for a character from a
franchise where it brings all these franchises together to be the final character in a
franchise that brings all these characters test level like big brain moments there. He's
also my favorite character to players. He's my main I love him. And
then Hero and Joker. I loved both of those. I love that Joker
was revealed at the Game Awards, Yeah, because it came out of nowhere.
I worked in that and almost killed. I'm glad that it was a
highlight of every direct because it was christ questioning every life decision work. But
you have the list I was. I was in like a kind of like
a global marketing role for Smash, which they Nintendo likes to put you in
these roles to like test you. They did it to him with Breath of
the Wild, and so they'll test you to make sure you got like,
you know, your your stuff together, and if you do really well in
these roles, they promote you basically. So it was like my career development
was like hang on by possible job. But then is theread ever with Smash
And Yeah, every single one of those was like a literal nightmare. And
I think I aged like ten years working on that game. But when the
moments where the reveals happened and people were so excited about it, it did
feel like it was very like rewarding too. It was so exciting. Yeah,
it was really cool to see people just like freak out overall. Have
you ever seen the clips from the Nintendo New York Store, like the Banjo
reveal when they're all like screaming, Yeah, are you about to say you
were that the Joker reveal that got millions of views? Is my video really
amazing? Yeah? What do you mean? You all video we put up
when the Joker reveal at the Nintendo Store? Oh oh wow, that was
mass that's a special wow reaction. Yeah. Terry Bogart though, Terry Bogart
though, no one cares about that. I like my existence. But anyways,
it so it's a double edged sword with smash. I have a lot
of memories like working on such cool reveals that people loved, and all of
them are all so creative and you really saw the creative genius behind Saccharai and
stuff. But then I also have like these really traumatizing like memories of working
on it and like almost quitting my job and like just being in the worst
mental state of my life for those two years. And it was like it's
so it's like very mixed. Would you change it if you could go back?
I wouldn't do it. Really, I wouldn't do it. You wouldn't
do it again, Say no, I don't think that promotion was worth it.
It was because like we would go and be like, Krista needs more
support with this project. This is an extremely important project. Here are three
specific things where she needs more support. Like no, wow, you can
handle it. So I don't know. Well, I'm glad you made it.
I made it through. He was very helpful. Yeah, he was
my boss at the time, so he was always like banging down the door
trying to get me the help I needed to get anywhere with it didn't get
anywhere trying and someone was listening you. Yeah, so it was it was
tough, like weathered it out, you know, and then finally I was
like when we did the Fighter passes, I was like, I'm out.
I'm out, Like you give this to somebody else. Wow, we make
this other person do it, and that person's also no longer at Nintendo.
Was like, I don't know how y'all difference. So they also have a
podcast, we should bring them on again, specifically because it was it was
a doozy Yeah. Wow, you guys have so many cool stories. I
love listening to them. Well, whose turn is it now? Well,
we just we just didn't tea yeah, back to wood all right, Okay,
Well I'm at my seven. So my seven was not only just the
amount of wacky accessories that the Switch had. As somebody who loves accessories and
buying weird things to dress up my consoles, the Switch had an unprecedented amount
of first party official third party accessories, but also just at Sya, people
going crazy making the most ridiculous stuff. So that in itself, but also
just buying them all and making the videos with him that I make where we
like review them and laugh at them has been so much fun over the years,
and by far one of my favorite things to do because I'm going with
we tried to represents, we won't really, Yeah, we did one of
those, we should do more. There's so many I can I can link
you the best ones. Truth though, it is not so much stuff there
is. Yeah, so that stuff cool. Some of it's not. I
don't want to sometimes it's not. I don't want to take too much ownership
of this. But I feel like with the Etsy stuff, the more I
started doing the wacky weird things on Etsy, the more people would make wacky
with things on Etsy. Well, I would buy things and I would get
messages from the sellers being like, oh my god, I'm a big fans.
They send extra stuff, so I feel like there was a give and
take there. One of my favorite ones was initially this thing blew Up with
that you put joy cons on a stubby holder where you you put your drink
in the middle. And that was one of the first videos I did,
and it was in the thumbnail and it blew up and it was very funny.
And then I'm not even kidding, Like a few weeks later, somebody
made a whole trough bucket where you could put your joy cons on the side
and put all your snacks and your chips and your bags and everything inside everything,
So you're playing like this with this huge bucket. And I reviewed that
one next, and it's like, I know they made that because of your
video. I made the other thing so popular. That's what happens when you
have like a hit, you know wants to get on. Everyone wants to
get on exactly so that the wackiest things will come come from it, which
is kind of fun. You know that nonsense? Was it cs like that
that creepy like a ar P Mario hologram thing that a few weeks call the
Grand Mario. It was like like a I hallo Graham Mario, and then
they had like it was like a weird voice. It was not the first,
no idea. We're not affiliated with Nintendo at all. We just thought
this would be cool. I did see it. What the heck, lawyer,
do you know what to google over there? I want to Yeah,
wacky accessories for sure. Let me see this and then when you increased and
you can beside before video gave because I'm so traumatized just watching it. It's
so bizarre because they have they have the model. They must have got that
from somewhere online. You could like do your own scan of that. Nintendo
does have a legit version of that that would like Charles Martine would put on
a gizmo and he could go in the back room and talk and do the
voice like they would do that as a store. Yeah. I was like,
what is this exactly? I thought it was like Charles Goo rowe,
because he's gonna be that's the voice. But it was not Charles's voice,
and I was like, okay. I was like, he's like a cowboy.
Yeah, he's not the same. Let's talk about a Mario. Another
Mario thing, which is the launch of Odyssey, which you were talking about
and the game itself. I guess, yeah, you and I tag teams,
but you had the much harder job. You went on vacation, to
the point where I went on a vacation and I like called to like go
over a few things, and I think you were about to start crying.
I think I almost cried. He was about to go on like a two
week vacation. He's like, so, here are all the things that you
need to do for this launch, and I was like, but it was
fine. But yeah, that launch was like so cool that was a year
like twenty seventeen when we launched Switch at Nintendo was a year when Nintendo was
like we got money, We got you guys. She was anything you want
for marketing. We're like, really, well that's cool, and it was
like, no, don't, don't limit yourself free to think that. Yeah,
so we just went like nuts on like the types of events we were
doing. She had these crazy like dancers dancing outside of did you go to
that one outside of the nintdo World stores? That was my favorite line?
Yeah, crazy good Yeah right, it was there. It was amazing,
like just we basically literally pulled out all the stops. Yea. It was
the first like what makes sense for the game though too. Yeah, all
the music city people. Yeah yeah. And it was like that moment where
I'm like, yes, I'm I am doing my job to best of its
abilities, Like I get to be a marketer, I get to like actually
do my job and like get the support I needed to do it and it
turned out awesome. Yeah. That's a good point because there are a lot
of times that Nintendo where it's like I feel restrained, like I want to
stretch my wings and and you know, show my skills or learn new skills
and you're just not able. But that early switched time is like, no,
we are really pushing ourselves from what's cool. Yeah it was cool.
It was very tiring, but it felt it felt very satisfying. Yeah that's
cool. Yeah, I wish I could have seen that. I had the
chance to see the shoes. Oh I got that print over there. I
didn't. I didn't. I didn't go. I was here that week We're
doing a podcast and I was like, we should go, and it was
like I went, it's just shoot. I thought it was literally just like
regular shoes number eight on the line and I wasn't supposed to be in pj
oh. Yeah you can get the gold wrist shout out to Yeah. I
didn't feel the need to go see shoes anything. It was. It was
honestly, that was the weirdest of BET because it was not a normal Nintendo
event. It was like, I guess illumination who they ran a fashion show.
I was very confused and every every YouTuber that you would never expect there
was there anybody like you guys got invited you Yeah, you guys don't give
it into anything. We got invited to that and movie premiere was that we're
going to get any minute, we're going to get accident. Bob and iware
did you go? Because Bob didn't want to go, and they they didn't
want to give any plus ones and I don't want to go on my own,
but I didn't want to get the flight on my own. That's a
long flight. Yeah, yourself. Also, I was like a little anxiety
boy at that time. Still you guys remember when you were here last?
But I do it. Now, do another premiere for the movie, the
movie here we come five years, we'll be there. I will go to
that my number. What are we up to? Six? Who knows?
Oh, this is the one I referenced Earlia. So discovering my love for
indies due to the Switch. So just like with my Switch Accessories videos,
I way back when when this kind of came from a place of the Switch
release, we weren't getting many games for it initially, and a lot of
things we were get were indies. So I made a video of ten games
on the e shop worth buying, and it was just out of necessity of
like trying to find things to buy. The video blew up because at the
time anything about buying games on Switch were blowing up because people were buying into
this console and trying to find out what was good. So I was like,
oh, this did well, I'll do another one. So I did
another one of ten indie e Shop games worth buying. At this point,
I was just kind of buying them to play them for a video. I
wasn't really investing into any of them, but I remember it was around the
time when Dead Cells hit. Oh. I was addicted to that game,
and it was the first game I would say that was a true indie game,
that's not a triple A big budget game that I have been addicted to.
And from there the videos took on a life of their own. At
this point, I've reviewed three hundred and thirty e Shop games across all my
videos, and many of those are my favorite games on the system. A
lot of great ones through your video. Thank you so much. That's why
I loved that. I love them so much. For that reason, I
think STA Do obviously a big one. Hollow Night, It's a big one,
celestig one. It was an exciting time because it was like that support
was not there before. It's like, oh my gosh, like we're actually
getting all these games. I remember that that era where like studios would just
tweet a picture of their game running on the Switch, like this is look
at this that's on the Yes, that's exciting. It was, and then
from there it was it definitely captured the attention of people inside Nintendo because then
they had spun up like a whole team that was just doing indie support.
And then we even started like a new channel on social for indie Indie warted
to do like all of the dedicated like indie showcases. So it really became
like, oh, yeah, Switch is a Nindia machine. I say it
all the time, and a lot of people do get it, but I
say it all the time. I said it in the video that I just
put out. Indies really helped propel the Switch successful as it was, And
there are people that think I'm crazy when I say that. No no,
no, no, no no no. It did so much. I like,
I love the statistics so much and I say it all the time,
but Steamwall dig two sold on Switch Steam Yeah, which is crazy, and
indies is one of those things where like they need to stay on top of
that with the next system. Don't think like I'll take it for granted,
or I need to I don't need to work. They'll be there no matter
what you need to make. That a lot of console transitions people make that
mistake. I know. I think indies also really took the place of virtual
console. They with the more cheap, affordable virtual console style games. You
need, you need that like kind of all ranges of games to keep a
system sustainable. That we were looking at, But that's not possible, right,
and you can't develop like a Tiers of the Kingdom every yeah, exactly
a year or whatever. But we were looking at this number from the financials.
It was one point two billion pieces of software launched on switch on switch.
Sorry, that's crazy. So that is like the amount of stuff that
you need to keep a system going for eight years, you know what I
mean that part of that huge percentage of that is indies, you know.
So it's kind of incredible. Guys are awesome. That just yeah, validating
a lot of the stupid stuff I've said, Norue, we are are indeed
darling for us. On switch was Hades. Oh yeah, I gave that
video its whole I give that game, it's whole video. We loved,
loved Haities We're such big fans of Super Giants. Every game we got,
we have to do some really thank you to do some really cool stuff with
them on Nintendo Minute, Like they really made themselves available, like we did
like a two hour like character bracket with Greg Casovin we did. I would
love to get Korb India. Yes, because I'm such a big fan.
He did a whole studio tour. When I think of like the videos that
are gone from Nintendo Minute now that that's one of the ones that really hurts
because it's like nobody else is gonna do this. Is it an back up
anyone? Well, they took make it private, I mean somewhere probably worry.
Do you want to watch it? Don't worry. Okay, I forgot
to watch it, don't worry. But yeah, like Darren and they're they're
in our backyard like Super times. Darren Korp lives in Berkeley, so they
got on board and it was you should come down and we can we can
go crash there, you know, come down, come on. I texted
him the other day. I was like, we should plan a trip out
to catch some guests that might not want to fly in. So absolutely,
ye come down with us. But yeah, we just like absolutely loved working
with that team and Jen the artist is amazing on Hades, Like we just
everything about that game, not only just that. I can't wait for Hades
too. Oh so excited for Hades. Maybe when that there's more further along
there, we could do we could promote it'll be fun. Yeah, yeah
you again. Okay, now we're on your guys's time, just so you
know, you're for an hour and twenty in and went halfway through this list,
so we can speed it up as much as you're so. Oh my
number five is a fun one. I have like a select group of videos
on my channel that I consider my favorite, and this is in one of
them. I took my switch and Mario cut circuit to a real go cut
course and made cardboard thing eye. I took it to a full I think
it was a half mile go cut loss, and I made a Mario cut
circuit track and I attached the go cut, the little gokut to my big
go cut and I raced it through all of the sign I had to make
the sign so that it so that it was like an L shape so I
could race it through the side. But I had the switch up on my
screen with like a head cam o, oh my gosh, to get gameplay.
And yeah, the whole video was me like talking about how I'm going
to do it and building it all and I dressed up the go cut to
be red and like blue and took it to a to a go cut.
Those are my favorite memories making a video. But also yeah, just doing
something fun and creative with the switch anything you get to like stretch your creativity.
That was one of those things where like it was like this is a
weird thing, a weird product, you know. It was so cool,
It's so niche. Yeah, very nice. We definitely did some go karting
in the office and then I remember building that around my house. My dog
went nuts, like you try to like bite the cart. My cats went
crazy. Not like it, it's like hated that thing. My cats loved
it because they thought it was for them. Oh, it was like chasing
and my I've made two videos on it. The first one was a review
of me doing a track in my house and my cats and all of the
footage just chasing the go cut. That was truly the thing where it's like
you play it once, Oh that's cool and then you put it away and
never again would stop played it. That was really played it and like really
like tested it out that way. That's like you gave it its fair full
experience exactly. IMMERSIVEG seventeen is our next. We had a lot of twenty
seventeen, but this was kind of like the culmination of that crazy year.
Zelda and Mario were nominated for Game of the Year. We had a huge
entourage out from Japan, including al Numa and Koezumi. There was like a
lot of like buzz of like are we gonna win? What if? What
if we split the vote and Horizon wins? Like oh no, and coming
in like we weren't sure how much these devs cared about this because it's not
like the Game Awards. It's like, you know, they kind of know
about it in Japan, like they really cared care. Yeah, they cared
a lot, and I think I think it mattered that there was a little
bit of internal rivalry in a good way, like a friendly way. Yeah,
and Zelda won and like I remember I hugged al Numa as he went
up there, and like after that it was like we had like won the
Oscars or something like there was. Yeah, there was like an after party
and everything was just like into the night. Everybody was as happy as I
had ever seen that. Crazy. Wow, it was just like the perfect
weight. That's surpl if they take it so seriously, like I'm daring the
total moment of like validation. Yeah yeah, and it feels good again.
Like it's like you do feel like at the end of twenty seventeen, you're
like, we are so back, We're so like how much we did this
year based on where we were a year ago. That it is crazy to
think about. It turns fast. It turns the ti in turn, yeah,
or the other way. It can turn fast, So don't have to
worry about that. We can speculate and have fun here. But that's what
I'm saying, Like, you never know. You cannot rest, like you
don't know if the next thing is going to be like the complete opposite again,
you know, so enjoy right, there's no way, right, they
do have a habit of that, but it comes Yeah, it's my tone.
Yeah, okay, okay, oh, this will be nice and quick
then Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Just in general,
I mean, this is a list of memories but also games. I mean,
I love them. I don't know, we've already gone through it so
much. They're my favorite Zelda games for sure. I don't know which one
I actually prefer, because Breath of the Wild in its time was like my
perfect Zelder experience. I really saw it as them going back in a weird
way to Zelder roots, but then fleshing that out because a lot of people
seem to think it was this huge departure from Zelder, which in many ways
it was from what Zelda had been built up to at that point. But
it's kind of like the very first nes Zelda if that was made today,
Like it's it's even to the point where you like, right away walk into
a little cave and get meet an old man, you know, get a
sword, like he's right at the start of Breath of the Wild too,
and then it's you go whatever direction you want. The screen will move with
you everywhere you go. Same with Breath of the Wild. I love the
game a lot. Teas of the Kingdom loved the game a lot. I
played that on stream fully dressed up as Link on green screen from start to
finish with my audience, and it was one of my favorite experiences. I
usually don't like streaming my favorite things the first time I play it, but
that one felt like I had to include my audience and it was so special
for a different reason. And there were moments where I was like, I
wish I was playing this on my head right now, But there were definitely
moments where having people see my reactions and get really hyped not only for what
was happening in the game, but what my reaction to it was was very
special. It's amazing we had that on our list too, because that was
kind of the first major major Nintendo release that we got to experience on the
outside, on the other side, and that was so exciting and to be
part of, you know, our community with that and share that excitement like
it was it was a lot, was big, and it was different for
us, so that was really fun. It's so true, like there is
something really special about sharing your own, just genuine reactions with your community that
we never really got to do because we always knew the announcements before they happened,
so not having any of that and just being genuinely like reacting to all
those trailers and being genuinely like elated when we saw things that we were excited
about, and we did so many videos leading up to the launch of Cheers
of the Kingdom that also did really well on our channel. Some of our
best performing stuff is those videos leading to Cheers of the Kingdom, and that
was when we were like, this is so cool to be on the side,
the part of the influence part of it. Yeah, and just like
again, get to like genuinely share that experience with this community that we've grown
and care so much about, and like, what a cool How lucky are
we to be able to do that? You know, you do feel that
way. Such a weird place that we're all in with all of this content
stuff, But I'm so happy it's I hope it never goes away. I
know. I hope TikTok doesn't ruin it. No, don't ruin it.
You're next again, No you are? Yeah? Sure, I mean I'm
up to three eighteen eighteen. That was the Smash Brothers E three. I
was the quote E three lead for that, which was another one of these
let's test a person kind of projects, which it's hard to define what that
job is. It's a lot of kind of like global coordination of like making
sure everybody's on the same page. It's a very challenging job. It's a
job. I'm glad there's no more E three so that nobody has to do
this job suffer through it. I came into that role late because the person
who had it before me left the company out of just kind of poof.
One day was gone, okay, and they said, kit you're you're taking
over this job. Does you have a hood from again? Your first meeting
with Japan is is he? Okay? We don't know, okay, your
first meeting with Japan is tonight? Get ready? Oh wow? Yes?
It was like trial by fire. So your birthday that year, I gave
you the three Survival Kids and it had like all these items that was like
this will get you through these things because it's hopefully hopefully cute and was it
an actual survival kid that you actually have to use that stuff. There was
some stuff in there that you could actually use. But there was one joke
gift in there that was like if all else goes wrong, break this box
and inside it was a cheapy robo amibo and a box of matches. That's
funny. I did use it. I didn't use it. I still have
that the day may come, but it's it's very interesting to see the show
from that perspective where you know, like literally everything about it. And that
was a cool year we had smashed. That was the your Fortnite came out.
We announced three houses, z in a Blade like there was there was
a lot of the good one. I think it was the DLC for Ze
people like that. Yeah cool. My number three is hunting Nintendo Switch games
in Japan. Ah, it was so cool. This also extends to we
did it. I don't know if you were for the New York one.
I think it came for when we did it in New York with Bob.
I did want in New York. I did one in Pennsylvania with my friend
Ethan. But just in general, especially with Japan, hunting for these games
because the library is so big, and it's crazy because like I can't I
mean, I'm not like a PlayStation collector or an Xbox collector, so maybe
it's the same one of those platforms, but there's something about hunting for Nintendo
games in general, but the Switch having such a huge library and Japan having
so many exclusive physical games that didn't come out here or anywhere else, so
It's like a kid in a candy story. Every time I go, I'm
seeing all of these games I've either never heard of or didn't know they have
a physical and I love them, and just it's not even like when you
retro collect and you're like, man, I really hope I find this game.
When I go retro hunting today, it's you just go and you just
see what you find, because there's always going to be cool stuff. And
I'm just like googling, what is this? Is this worth the price?
Yes? Buy it? Translate the cover or I do speak some Japanese.
Now there you go. Well, I can read kata kana. And the
cool thing about a lot of like media and entertainment media is to katakana.
So it takes me a minute, but I can usually read things too that.
Yeah, And then a cool thing about katakana is it usually translates into
English, like straight into English. So it was your favorite thing that you
ever found in Japan game wise last time? The thing I really wanted to
actually go and get wash Bait and Katos one and two because I got a
physical over there and didn't get one here, and that was my number one.
I've got to get that while I'm there, and I did, Yeah,
we're going to Japan this year. I like brought this up and you
hated the idea where I was like, what if we try to get our
switch to in Japan? Oh, you look at him, he doesn't want
to do it. I think it's cool switch to in Japan, So you
would you would aim your trip around let's make the stakes even higher, September
trip or something difficulty even more against that. He's scared it's not going to
happen, Like you just got that lotteries. Like, I guess we have
people over there who could do the initial steps. Feel like there's some things
you need to do before you go. Help you. Yeah, you're saying
you're worried about the stock supply? Is that what you're worried about? Just
the whole process of buying it over there? Like do we know you have
people? We do have people figure it, We do have I do think
it'll be a cool video to do too. That would be cool, right,
that would just be interesting and like how special would it be? It
wouldn't be our only switch to you, we'd buy a US switch to as
well. Obviously, This would just be like a cool collectors thing like we
would always remember that we got this, that would be cool. Should do
this in Japan. See if he wants us to. Now you're on board,
right over to j We're coming home empty handed, big bust. Oh
my gosh, I think we only have one. Yeah, we've been through
a bunch of more Mark doubles you have. Our last one is the Animal
Crossing Animal crossing in the Pandemic. Yeah, pandemic was your favorite thing.
No animal crossing though. During the pandemic like saved lives, truly that that
was crazy. Did you do animal crossing a lot? Yeah? Yeah,
absolutely, Yeah I made. I made like four or five videos animal crossing
with Kim reviews visiting people's islands. Yeah. Yeah, Kim has over a
thousand hours in that game. After the pandemic. I had a couple hundred.
Yeah. It was one of those things where the pandemic happened, everything
shut down obviously, and like one thing that was like very darring for us
is that we could not make Nintendo minute videos anymore. And that was such
a big part of just like our live slash routines at that point that it
was like I was like there was a huge void I was, I don't
even what to do with myself, like what do I do? And we
figured out actually it was your idea. You're like, why don't we just
make a video inside animal crossing? That's cool? And that was one of
our probably like best Nindo. We recreated our studio in the house. Yea.
We would always visit each other and we come up with how many did
you do? Did a lot? Maybe did like twenty? Those are gone?
Those are really yeah, yeah, I'll watch them later. But it
was so cute, like it was it was just our voices since we didn't
have a way to record and you know, in our homes at that time
yet, but we like figured out a way to Like I think personally it
was just I was so like sad, you know, not to not be
able to do it, and yeah, to be trapped at home. I
mean, I'm sure everyone was going through really hard time. But yeah,
that game like quite literally like saved us. I think, yeah, yeah,
no, it was. It was weirdly perfect timing. Yeah, I
mean, there's a reason why it sold forty four million cut rights exactly right
one and every three people that have they were not they were not upset about
that performance. No, ye, that by design. That was like you
were like on purpose, Like how would they know about that? About like
but then they were really sensitive to it. They were like, let's not
mention yeah this stuff because yeah, I mean, yeah, you don't really
want Yeah, it's a bad way, it's global. I mean, it's
a happy accident. But yeah, it also helped so many people that I
think it's okay for them to be proud about it too. Ye. Right.
It was a little scared, I think, because it's like, well,
that was lightning in the bottle that you're never going to get again.
Yeah, the next animal crossing that's going to have really really expectations. They're
going to release the t virus intentionally next time with about ten more toilets and
animal cross in your golden go I think, yeah, okay, yeah,
so I'm at two, so I'll just blast through mine. My second one,
My second last one was the launch day because now we're getting to my
favorites launch day trying to get a pre order. I know it's crazy to
think that's actually fun, but there is something exciting about my favorite console is
selling out every my favorite company is selling out that console everywhere. I'm like,
I want one so bad. I want this new Switch. Going to
all these different stores with my friend trying to get a pre order. Uh,
the actual launch itself, lining up in the morning, getting it home,
that the fresh setup, and playing it, like opening it the first
time, all of that, every console, even Xbox and PlayStation. One
of my favorite things about it is just getting it and like seeing what it
is. Setting it up. Yeah, so much fun it is playing the
first thing. There's a Christmas morning feelings it is. It's Christmas every time,
and it's because you used to get consoles on Christmas because that's when you
had to wait to get them, So it feels like Christmas morning. So
that's my second. I had a couple of special mentions. I got to
ride a horse in a review of a Switch game about a horse, and
it was the first time I ever rode a horse, and I don't think
I ever would horses riding stables or something. You need you like a place
where you can ride a horse to review this game, No, I just
went. I had this weird arc on my channel of reviewing horse games for
a minute because they were all the same and all bad, and by about
the second or third game. I was like, I've got to go and
ride a horse for this video? So much fun. You didn't like it?
No, I loved it. That's why it's a special mention because I'm
never going to ride a horse again. Yeah, why not? Why would
I? What do we for? Let's do it? The game sounds great,
Let's do it sounds romantic. When I got the Zelda Switch early that,
I'm still confused about what what's made up with that? Wait a minute?
Yea, my audience, I'll tell you later. You can tell it
over. Yeah, I'll tell you what I'm watching the episode. And then
my last special mention was just all the Nintenda directions in general. They were
so great not only to watch but also for use. It was just easy
views every time. And my number one is all the games I have played
with Kim, because that's just my most favorite memories of playing games on the
switch. Because Kim and I we both love games, but she never really
sits down to play them unless she gets addicted to something. And Animal Crossing,
Stardo and now Faith Farm we have spent it's so good and we've spent
hours playing that together. And one of us can be on the TV the
other handheld. Lately, I've been doing my my al glasses, So she's
on the TV and I'm sat there with my glasses next to her playing Faithom.
But yeah, I love when she gets addicted to a switch game and
then I get carried along for the ride and it's just some really good like
multiplayer. Yeah, it really like yeah, even like over the pandemic and
stuff too, when we were just bored at home, Like but that was
another way for us to like hang out with people, Like people will come
to my animal crossing islands. Yeah, we'd fall asleep sometimes, Like I
was like on someone's island watching like a star meteor shower and like all three
of us were like in bed playing all up and then I woke up the
next day and it was like your thing has been disconnected. I was like,
but like that was it's like when you're a kid and you see that
with your friends on the floor. Yeah, true, or even like I
know it's not the same as in person, but it's the same as in
person. When you go for the sleepovers, you're playing Halo like smashing stuff.
You're just on the phone, but like you're the game. Yeah.
Yeah, we played Mario Kart all the time, just like is this something
to do while we chat on the phone. You know, it's so cute,
so cool. Well, the switch had and we have That's why it's
like we everyone's so like I'm ready. I mean, I'm ready to move
on to the next one too. But it's like, oh man, we
we really got so much joy out of these. Tell me how many years?
Eight years? Yes, it's going to be about eight by the about
eight years. So it's like we're you know, now now we have to
like brace ourselves for the next it's so excited. I'm sorry, it's going
to be great. Hopefully Cross is going to be really good. But yeah,
we should enjoy the time that we we had, you know, and
we all we did, and we know what would suck if we have a
direct next week and they're like two more years? Keep course pass there we
go. Do you think it's launching with Maracott ten? Nine? Nine?
Wait? Is it nine? Yes? Nine? I thought we had nine.
I thought nine was Isn't that a perfect launch? Launching with Mariacott nine
is not a perfect launch? That's what that That was exactly our prediction.
Launching September with Mario Kart nine as the launch title, and then later later
in the year September nine with Maricott nine. Oh it's good. Well,
thank you so much for coming in. We went so far over time,

hell, I don't think so. You guys watched the show behind.
I don't remember anything nothing. I mean, it wouldn't be behind. I
don't think there's a realm where we would say a bad word after having you

I feel. Oh my gosh, this is ask me controversy. A controversy.
Awesome to time stamp it. If you're watching give me the time stamp,

ask him if you can move right on him while you have that picture.
I kind of want to hit him up on Instagram and see if he still
has it. Yeah, Mayor Phoenie, you don't have it. You don't
have it. He bought the cookies for me and did wait, this story
