Episode 35 - Deep dive into the Gods of Chaos Pt 2 - Nurgle and Slaanesh

The 40k Lorecast

On Today's episode we take conclude our deep dives into the ruinous powers. On today's cast we will talk about Grandfather Nurgle and Slaanesh.  Who they are, what they represent, and their defining traits. From there we talk about their relms and the ways that they interact with the materium. We then move onto some of their more famous and key units (nurglings for the win). Lastly we talk about how the Imperium (the inquisition primarily) feel about each god and the level of threat they pose to the Imperium itself.

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty-K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty-K-Lorecast with me, John Barsodian, Brad Jester.
[SPEAKER_01]: On today's episode, we'll be doing part two of our courage of the ruinous powers of the warp.
[SPEAKER_01]: Last episode we did Corn and Zeech.
[SPEAKER_01]: Today we're doing the two gods that those two hate the most and also the feeling is quite mutual between Nargo and Slonesh and Corn and Zeech.
[SPEAKER_01]: These, there is abjected.
[SPEAKER_01]: Before we go though, let's do us a favor if you could like and subscribe to the podcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't left us a review yet, it does help a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: So please go ahead and leave one.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't like what we're doing, jumping to discord and tell us.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can leave a negative review, but kind of a dick movement.
[SPEAKER_02]: Or instead of a negative review, what you can do is just tell us.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll fix it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll fix it better.
[SPEAKER_01]: We will let you fix it.
[SPEAKER_02]: We will try to do better.
[SPEAKER_02]: We will do better.
[SPEAKER_02]: We will do better.
[SPEAKER_02]: Second, bigger thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I do coaching for a living.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's another one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I should probably mention it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know.
[SPEAKER_01]: We keep bringing the mention that any of you who are playing for DK at either a competitive or even a non-competitive level and just want to understand the game better, Brad is available.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't have to come to your house and do it in person.
[SPEAKER_01]: He uses TTS and a bunch of these programs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Those who, who don't even know what TTS is, it's a way to play this game online that Brad can also teach you how to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it is, I mean, he has, how do they reach you Brad?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because someone asks this question.
[SPEAKER_02]: Manchester one at gmail.com.
[SPEAKER_02]: I have two others, but I'm just going to go with that one right now, because it's the easiest.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's dive in to this episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's dive in to Nurgle first, who is more of Adam, like what does followers do, etc.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Nurgle, before we begin, I do want to mention, Nurgle might be, I think, the most popular of the gods amongst the player base trying to think through.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's corn.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's back and forth.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's whether you were
[SPEAKER_02]: being serious enough because there's a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: Nergal by far is the comedy.
[SPEAKER_02]: in the game.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because the fact of the matter is, Nurgle's trying to do right by you.
[SPEAKER_02]: He might accidentally kill you while doing it, but you were just trying to have a good time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: What if this is beasts of Nurgle and they just want to hug you?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're puppies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nurgle is tends to be the army.
[SPEAKER_01]: They can be very competitively that people tend to play them who are a bit more fun in mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think my experience, Nurgle, I've played against a lot of Nurgle over the years and the games are usually pretty good.
[SPEAKER_02]: in the thing is he can be serious because I mean he is the god of death decaying past wounds but he's also the god of entropy he's the god of effectively
[SPEAKER_02]: making, getting it ready for rebirth.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's burned in the forest now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where the whole thing on Nurgle is, Nurgle, if you read it, kind of when I would call the wrong way, Nurgle is the God of death and disease and the cat.
[SPEAKER_01]: And people think of that and they go, oh, wow, it's a pretty evil God.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's some of the saddest things that can happen in your life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Death, disease, the cat is the most important thing to happen to you.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Nurgle's view is, the grand father in Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the warming embrace of Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because what Nurgle actually is, is he's explaining to all of his followers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you're going to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you will decay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you will, you know, disintegrate over time.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then you will be reborn as something else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily, you know, Hindu reincarnation level, but more just, you're scientifically, he's made up of carbon atoms.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's circle of life again.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm a fossil told you about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a mofasa.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's the mofasa of a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is important because when we talk about Nurgle's effect, he's really been there forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as you probably heard me complain pretty heavily on the past about the chaos gods, where my point was like, the corn was the first god because it comes from the anger of violence.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, no, feels like Pestons and the K would have gotten their first.
[SPEAKER_01]: because they've always existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally they've actually predate, you know, bacterium or technically multi-celled, but some of the first really split and settle down there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just saying like this is it really dates way back, but anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to kneel the grass ties and us on this.
[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, the thing to also remember, Nurgles riding in decay is it's not just organic materials that rotten decay.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also an inorganic materials.
[SPEAKER_01]: A planet that during the dark age of technology died off, all those buildings are turning to rust or ash or whatever it is.
[SPEAKER_02]: I've given the throw out and people are going to have can yell at me on this.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think Nurgles also wants
[SPEAKER_02]: ideas, thoughts, societies, civilizations.
[SPEAKER_02]: He wants them to decay for a new one to come in.
[SPEAKER_01]: That could make it.
[SPEAKER_01]: There was a help wise age.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's an herbal.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I say, hey, it's an herbal.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, tates.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's like, they were just, they probably should call it out now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slanesh, hates corn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn, corn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Nurgle doesn't really care about Zeench kind of that same way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Zeench has nothing but object hatred for Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when someone is ruining everything that you do by their very existence, you're probably not going to be super cool with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it's like, because every time it's also the piece, every time one of Zeech's plans doesn't work, it usually goes to Nergal's favor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where Zeech has some plan, like, you know, these guys are gonna not die.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I do this, and I'm gonna cheat time and cheat this or information, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: At every time it doesn't work, Nergal just goes, okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, Nurgle's accidentally ruining plants because he's poisoned both glasses.
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't care.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know that you know that you know that I know is like, I just poisoned both.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you kind of compare this cast or last cast, we wouldn't reason we lined it up this way is this next little piece is that Nurgle like corn isn't always affecting his biggest piece.
[SPEAKER_01]: What he does just exists in another self.
[SPEAKER_01]: He helps the long quite a bit, you know, especially with disease.
[SPEAKER_01]: Big fan of spinnet, but like corn, knurles the goddess, I mean, that just is going to happen versus slenash, much like zinch is a god of a desire and a want.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you see he has to have plants and dine.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of why the other reason why we line these up these way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, to Nurgles point though, but we're just stressing, he really is only interested in what we call the longer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nurgles viewpoint is everything will eventually decay, everything will eventually die.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not looking to like spread a disease through the entire galaxy and wipe out all life.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just wants to make sure, I mean, the destroyer.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he will start.
[SPEAKER_02]: He will give boons, cough, cough, typhus.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Things of any, he will give boons to his most loyal of servants that want to spread.
[SPEAKER_02]: put this out there, increases his realm, his power and everything.
[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, grandfather, Nurtle, while we hi high, the greatest power is are still not cool dudes.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's, he's bad.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's doing evil.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's doing how funny he will sometimes, but it's still pretty evil.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's when you're in the middle of it, it is horrifying.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Nurgle's trying to actually increase that level.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll dive into some stuff as followers do.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not pretending he is good, but when I'm more referring to his, he's just, he is the god of, I would almost refer to his inevitability.
[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just something you cannot avoid, Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even the, the Eldar with their extremely long life spans are the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: still eventually we're going to die and decay things that they built.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you can say that that's why I went into the ideas, the philosophy of civilization.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's because that's two powers, Nergalop.
[SPEAKER_02]: The fall of the other wall, it was slenached that reaped it.
[SPEAKER_02]: The fall of those lost ideas, those lost society, that is entropy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the crumbling world's all over the place.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's, miracles just, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Still, it's still, neural power.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when Rathbone breaks down, miracles.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when you lose all those things, that's still neural.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, the other way to keep it, they're the one that I kind of wanted to bring out, is that anything that is dying and decaying benefits neural.
[SPEAKER_01]: So is the emperor decaying in the golden throne?
[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's ran wrapped in there.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's keeping the freshness in.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just boy it out.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm originally, yes, but also, we're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that next time.
[SPEAKER_02]: It never goes a fan of high world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, every God's a fan of high world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: The high world's other greatest.
[SPEAKER_01]: Line up to be chaos.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is basically it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And even one, they're going to hit all four at a plus plus tier every single time.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to read John's notes because there's so much venom that comes in here.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because John says, Nurgle was the third God, the game's sentience.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then immediately goes in a dry tribe about
[SPEAKER_02]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_01]: That can be said.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, okay, find the elder were long lived, but every other being in the galaxy wasn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Death decay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's neck around tear.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, neck around tear got saddled with a you're gonna die.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
[SPEAKER_02]: Because you are can we do anything about it?
[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_02]: And there goes like double guns in it.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I refuse to believe that he wasn't double guns.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I just find we're gonna do is now neck around you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the neck around here, we're dying constantly.
[SPEAKER_02]: They were born with dying.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also were incredibly aggressive who just loved killing everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or corn, more obsessed with knowledge and learning and furthering a science.
[SPEAKER_01]: Zeanch, which they're still the most advanced.
[SPEAKER_01]: When they would do war, they would take on noble adversaries.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'd also just slaughter innocent civilians.
[SPEAKER_01]: Really, all my saying is the necrontier should have launched all four cascades.
[SPEAKER_01]: True story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they could have been.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they were also a larger than because I'm going to keep shooting on this because I can.
[SPEAKER_01]: All three of the four chaos cars launched during the dark ages, middle ages of mankind.
[SPEAKER_01]: When there were three hundred and fifty million people on one planet, the necrontier, the necrontier, spanned systems, multiple systems.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're doing this there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that wasn't enough to disturb the world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they were the catalyst to start them going.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I'm going to say.
[SPEAKER_01]: A durable guys.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think the black plague was probably, wow, what created Nergo?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm drinking wine on this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good bread and I'm with throw something.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean says that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or was a black plague created by Nergo?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because while looking at the entire Milky Way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's this one blue planet, and we're going to affect the disease that affected less than a quarter of the population there.
[SPEAKER_01]: of any small population.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I get this was written by you.
[SPEAKER_02]: On a water planet with beings that don't live in the wild.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why the world hates Europe.
[SPEAKER_01]: It hates like the Western civilization.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is what we do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, the black plague was so important.
[SPEAKER_01]: It affected the entire galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And people living in Africa, Asia, North America, South America, like, yeah, we actually weren't even aware it was happening because it didn't matter to us.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Europe lost a bunch of people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Woo.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's on the list.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's who wrote the book.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there we go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Moving on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just jump before I just keep flocking that dead or flogging the dead horse.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually don't know which way that is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Into the powers of no.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, nirgot relishes in the decaying rebirth of all matter.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing exists without being made of something that came before.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is a thing about the civilization.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even though, like human population, the highest level has ever been on the planet, but the number of carbon atoms has not changed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing has shifted in our planet, so you will always have a certain amount of life that's available here.
[SPEAKER_01]: cough cough hybrows don't make sense, but whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Your goals in time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, I feel that I already explained Mufasa's circle of life to you.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's so, it's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many little little things of logistics.
[SPEAKER_02]: Fasa, circle of life.
[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, Simba.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll me tell you one more time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, it's the movie one time ever.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a Disney person.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even know you were a communist.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like Louis Tunes.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was actually funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like here's Mickey Mouse and then here's Daffy Doc or Bugs Bunny.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the more significant Tasmanian devil.
[SPEAKER_01]: All those characters are better.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that was like it.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think that was a doctor for old people because rest of you were like, I don't know what you're talking about.
[SPEAKER_01]: This guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's life into kind of what Nerville really does more specifically get into.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Nerville's thing about decay, death, it's not a weapon.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a means to the end.
[SPEAKER_01]: Does he use it as a weapon?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it was forced use as a weapon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it is to create something for a Nerville.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nerville doesn't really take joy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you suffering from a plague.
[SPEAKER_01]: He takes joy in the plague over taking you and then turning into the rebirth.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, is that some of his minions, especially the greater demons, do that by just existing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they do fight.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they do use it as a weapon, but they don't have to.
[SPEAKER_02]: They just do their mere presence.
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, is disease.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they want to, and we're going to narrow things a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're adorable.
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about wearing Nurgle gets his converts, and this is kind of, I mean, my son wants to listen to some health things, so this is real.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, most of Nurgle's followers are people who are in some form of suffering.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they themselves or someone else?
[SPEAKER_02]: This is also when he does kind of evil because Nurgle always gives you no Nurgle evil.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what I'm saying, but I'm saying that everything he touches when he's making conscious choices when he's doing stuff because every single devil contract will say for all of the chaos your gods.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: is shitty because almost always you never read the fine print of Nergal, which isn't ongoing to cure you, it's going to be, you're not going to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: People reach out to Nergal when they're at their ultimate level of suffering.
[SPEAKER_01]: We saw this with Mortarian when the destroyer, destroyer plague, no, the, um, odd thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: People as it was a version of it, but he, he was infected.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, when they were, they got lost in the war, they, you know,
[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I want to get this done.
[SPEAKER_02]: And again, the pact was, you won't, you and your men will not die.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the pack that's made with most people that neural makes packs with, which is, you will still be an existence effectively.
[SPEAKER_02]: Am I going to cure you this?
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you will stop suffering.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's sometimes.
[SPEAKER_01]: You'll learn to deal with your suffering.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's interesting, because I mean, that's more, when you read about it's a lot of the, it depends again who he's, who he's doing the boon for.
[SPEAKER_01]: But usually it is a,
[SPEAKER_01]: the whatever is killing you continues to kill you, but you either don't, doesn't hurt you anymore or you don't care about the hurt.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's somewhat, it's kind of suffering in that realm.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in others, he also will make the infection works and make it more contagious.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he will almost always more contagious.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he will take everyone else with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So neural, bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, don't fly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why I'm thinking like, I'm a fan of neural.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
[SPEAKER_01]: It just, but GW took
[SPEAKER_01]: What I think would be the most depressing of the chaos God.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I should I should on GW writing a lot to give him some quality some some credit here.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're thinking about the four chaos comes the most depressing is the one who's over the season past Janence and they went out of their way to make it not just depressing and sad.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they made his some of his minions hilarious.
[SPEAKER_02]: They made him grandfather neural and his loving embrace.
[SPEAKER_02]: They they did a good job of this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, nervous followers are usually the happiest and most joyous of the followers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas, I mean, corn's followers, they're not happy, and they're having a good time.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Zeech's followers, I think they're objectively miserable, but they're just, but they're always, they're searching for someone.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because every round of every corner is going to be that next thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are just, they're that person who's been playing a lottery every day for their entire life and never winning that Zeech.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I look at the slenash and a bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slenash has some really nasty stuff that slenash pulls off on you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nurgles the only one that kind of like does somewhat fulfill the prophecy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the followers seem to embrace the prophecy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once they, you know, quote-unquote figure it out, it's a cult.
[SPEAKER_01]: But once they kind of figure it out, then they go, oh yeah, I am supposed to die in decay so that more life can be born.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to spread this great knowledge, actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because that'll give me the favor of my God.
[SPEAKER_01]: As I'm saying that lot, I'm like, yeah, it's called its Scientology.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, hey, I figured this out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me go spray it in the rest of you.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like just trying to talk to you about like, Thaitons or whatever the hell those people have, they're actually spreading a the destroyer plague.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, not not helpful.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I mean, Nurgle, that's what it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: And follow his Nurgle, we'll just want to rock and then die.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is their goal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is the rock and die?
[SPEAKER_01]: As we cover the last time, numbers and colors.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do they matter?
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, totally do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the actual lucky number seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he is number seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say they don't matter, if someone's probably going to crap, I'm like, they told us, it's like three dice rolls you make again.
[SPEAKER_02]: They used to matter quite a bit though.
[SPEAKER_02]: It used to count as a max true size.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wouldn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was horrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a that was awesome.
[SPEAKER_02]: It was a terrible.
[SPEAKER_02]: I had to spend less points in my business.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's terrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: But more important.
[SPEAKER_01]: My problem is more, it just doesn't line up because death card doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please, you're in.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm playing.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's things they could have done with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: The colors of Nurgle Bragg can see.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think one of these are a green brown and rust.
[SPEAKER_02]: They cannot just all go together.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or as Brad calls it, Nervo.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The more putrid, the color, the better.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where I'm going to, you know, I actually have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have a death card.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and I have a, a Nervo arm.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I have both.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say, painting deathguard and next Nervo is really fun to build and paint because when you get into the models, they're actually broken.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I love the mods are busted.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Weapons are busted.
[SPEAKER_01]: Armors splitting open, gotts are spilling out.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are a really cool model line.
[SPEAKER_01]: And for those people who are looking to pick up painting, I love them because
[SPEAKER_01]: Nerval and so deathguard in Nerval can both be painted, very mediocre and look great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or if you want to dive in, they can look insane.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like multiple golden, if you don't, so those are on the golden demon is an award given out by GW at major events for their top top.
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely best pay and it's like they don't give out a bunch of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is a
[SPEAKER_01]: one entry wins the golden demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're a girl and death of humans have won it a lot of times.
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is my one of my favorite armies and my least favorite armies because I can't see the colors very well.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I can't like I talked to Matt and all the time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Matt.
[SPEAKER_02]: Does Nergall unbelievably well?
[SPEAKER_02]: However, I don't get the weathering and stuff, but I do love Nergall models and the conversions on there.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because, again, if you have these broken models that are still fighting on no matter why, that they still work.
[SPEAKER_02]: And there's Nergall popping out of the cracks in the armor and she'll like that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that kind of stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just putting Nergallings on.
[SPEAKER_01]: So for people who are looking for an army, they're a really great, also beginner army because of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because if your paint is a little bit sloppy, and he looks correct.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's supposed to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, as opposed to let the note here, because I'm still mad about this, my thousand sons army, which is the hardest thing I've ever painted of, and I've got nine armies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thousands of sons are hands down the hardest thing I had to paint because God, David, that's a lot of trim.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_01]: Back to Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, the land of Nurgle, as we, you know, kind of, it's, you guys are following along, we're kind of doing the same thing for all chaos gods, just so there's some uniformity, it makes you different from the writing standpoint too.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Nurgle's section is the garden.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it is, it's a giant garden where everything is taken.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of taking a decision.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is easy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that you're writing the carefully.
[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that you're learning Nurgle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the bloat flies.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is awful.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it is a garden because I'll get to in a second.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, one thing I want to go over to, because we go half on a neural garden, his realm is a nightmare land.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Of just, there's clouds of flies, which are one of the special rules of neural, but it's clouds like storms.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a sandstorm of disgusting, bloated flies that want to suck blood from you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're also spring disease.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And just,
[SPEAKER_02]: literally at my first, but it will be an actual correct one.
[SPEAKER_02]: Entire areas of his realm are just made up of disease and decayed body parts and corpses everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually plant like they actually are planting
[SPEAKER_01]: limbs in the ground and the limbs then grow into corps flowers.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then bloom with by spitting out more rot decay and it's it's a vile.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have bloat flies just like like a bloat fly from fallout but nastier and larger.
[SPEAKER_01]: Beasts of Nurgle who are not small.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to them in a minute.
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is one of the big things where why Nurgle they don't you don't take it over as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is also why you just experiment out of the planets because you could win the battle and lose the war because your entire Legion, your entire Imperial Guard force, your craft world, your whole ever.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is really one of the main reasons why I'll just go, hey, it's Nergal.
[SPEAKER_02]: That place is shit.
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll just go somewhere else.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you wanted a little good description of what this would look like, if you read the very first book of the Horus Heresy, where I came to the plath time ahead, but where Horus gets stabbed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was down.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a nergling incursion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the space means space means we're struggling to move.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how it was.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, if you've read it before, I encourage you to read that again, because you don't really get the full feeling until you realize much later that
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, everything they walked on was flesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: The entire topography.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't think it was flesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was just the cage.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was layers of flesh.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: It was, it was, it was, it was decayed, but it's, effectively, just to clean dead flesh.
[SPEAKER_02]: It was just dead flesh and animals, everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was just, they were walking through the cage and it was sticky and like, oh, it was just gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know what it was doing?
[SPEAKER_01]: It was poisoning them.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, God damn it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also props to the people in discord that gave me shit about that.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Marines were getting poisoned, Brad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's legitimately funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, these are not, the description here was not Goth.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're not describing like nightmare before Christmas land, which is kind of like, oh, it's it's Goth.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, this is horrifying fields of limbs planted.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have plants that are going to have, that have eyeballs all over them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is just, and everything exists to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's love crafty.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it's, I think the one description was the air.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's choking on pestilent insects.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Brad's point about the flies.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, if anyone has ever been to like a sandstorm,
[SPEAKER_01]: randomly, been through a couple of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine that, but instead of being sand, it's actually bugs.
[SPEAKER_02]: And one of the big, in that book, there's several books that talk about different herbal worlds.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not in power, or if you're not magically warded against it, you just die.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you, if you and I just walked out there, you're like, um, I guess we'll die.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, did you die fighting something?
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I just died the bugs.
[SPEAKER_01]: The bugs, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what's kind of the description I read that I like was if it's describing that even though it's entire realm of decay and death, it's also completely alive.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that you walk through and then you walk past is alive.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'd be dying, but it's alive.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't get where the corn's landscape is just clear.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you got to fight, you know, anything in the way where it's noodles is just like,
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to walk through a forest, which is okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you think that is the intro to be cooler because things are changing all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the middle of this is not like a palace or a throne, but it's the giant workshop, along with gardens.
[SPEAKER_01]: It does actually have a lake full of death, of course.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's weird because they've described this difference.
[SPEAKER_01]: It moves on.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's also the work to expect that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I personally, I view it as like an English Victorian estate, but of just decay and death.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because Nurgle wanders around to this, handing his garden
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, his minions are all trying to give the look at me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me at the newest thing they've been doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's other thing too.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the top was garden.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a workshop there where they're making new plagues and all times.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when all of his demons are coming from, check out what this one does.
[SPEAKER_01]: It actually turns you in sides on the outside.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's a good one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, this is what Nurgos doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're testing it, of course, on soul to have been captured and brought me the realm, as we said before, when you give your soul to a, well, the chaos gods, they can just keep using you forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: And, um, Nurgle uses it to poison you over and over and over again.
[SPEAKER_02]: And in a couple seconds, we're going to go, sorry, elder fans.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we get to poison a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because most of the people just die.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Nurgle High has a special captive.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, special guest.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it's a guest.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a captive.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when slun, for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is one that we'll probably do.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to do some cast in the future of John and Brad's fan theories.
[SPEAKER_01]: But when originally when slunesh, the story was slunesh burst my galaxy immediately consumed and killed all of the elder gods.
[SPEAKER_02]: Except for the laughing god and the fragments of king.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Isha.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's what I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_02]: They added on.
[SPEAKER_01]: And and there may be more.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what I'm getting is it might.
[SPEAKER_01]: So my personal theory is I'm not sure if Slonash actually just burst in eat them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Slonash may have tried to torture and kill them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And some of them escaped.
[SPEAKER_01]: So one such was Isha, who is the god of harvest, fertility, and life amongst.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's effectively a life cleric.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you're a life cleric in D&D and you're out there, you worshiped Isha.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Nurgle discovers that this, you know, newborn God by his put summing off, none of the chaos got to be able to pull off by just killing, effectively killing off the Eldar.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't like the fact that his ultimate enemy, because Isha is the inverse of Nurgle, is being held by Slonesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Nurgle just literally blasted there with his entire army, grabbed Isha.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just took off and went back.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Isha is just hanging out.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Isha wants to leave.
[SPEAKER_02]: Isha is also casting heal, forty-seven thousand times a day because Nervil is doing not great stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nervil is trying to poison the goddess of vitality, life, and rebirth.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, healing God.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it actually becomes some of the stories around this good kind of interesting, though, because Nervo will create a plague.
[SPEAKER_01]: He will release it in the mortal realms.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there are stories of like a pothorcarries or other sorts of healers, effectively getting whispers in the back of your eye of how to kill.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you get the blessings of Isha.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because the big thing, because he's just still trying to interact with, and this is what Isha's a badass guy.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go on a side.
[SPEAKER_01]: Give me a question.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like what Eldar is going to happen.
[SPEAKER_02]: A hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Isha is
[SPEAKER_02]: One getting tormented endlessly with no sense.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's no breaks.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's not like, hey, we'll catch back up tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's five o'clock.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's continuous round the clock torture and during that torture time, occasionally, not just trying to keep herself alive, she still tries to go into the mortal realm and help.
[SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't just help Eldar too, which is important.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's also, it's human apothecaries.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not now.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kidding.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, I'll probably, I'll dial it back a little bit on this.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's also trying to spite this, dear, because, after you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's also, yeah, this is.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, hey, man, you know, can I start?
[SPEAKER_01]: These are these are mortal enemies by design.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not like where it's like slenesh and corn, Katie, each other and corn, he's slenesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of the way they, they, yes, they hate each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: But obviously, the God of Pestlin's decay should is diametrically opposed to the goddess of life and river.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, you're probably going to, you went out with diametrically opposed with our views.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, I'm probably going to have a little bit of problems with you because you torture me every day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm going to, you know, remember when we didn't like each other, I like you a lot more, a lot less, sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: Now that you've been torturing me every day, every moment of every day, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Next one, I dive into kind of the demons of Nervole, which are some of the most diverse, actually, and some of the most, I think, well, just described followers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas, another one's like, no, we talked about pink horrors that it's, you kind of understand what they are, but it's different.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nervole has great ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're also fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nervoleings.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nervoleings are a comedic demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they are fantastic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anywhere, it also, by the way, very many, the best thing about Nurgle is that Nurgle looks like a great on clean one.
[SPEAKER_01]: This thing, wrinkly, was smaller.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the next one down is a Nurgling, who's a great on clean one, but like maybe a two feet tall.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the best is that their glings can be
[SPEAKER_02]: When you see him in the game, it is a swarm of narglings.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is a bunch of narglings.
[SPEAKER_02]: But narglings can show up on every model, like they're just, they're salacious crumbs sitting on a job of my cast rhinos.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of my deathguard rhinos have narglings on.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've ran and they put bunch of them on some of my characters just basis.
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, one of one of my favorite brules that are really Barbados are real for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is nerdlings weren't allowed to take objectives and do things because they had the special rule untrustworthy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nerdlings exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're almost zinching in this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nerdlings exist to create chaos.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're just, they're gremlins.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're just trashing your stuff.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, what happened to the tank?
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, those guys didn't do any real damage, but they did unplug everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the, it's the, it's the, you put gas in your car and everyone appears and takes the gas and then that, or just turns it off.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those two.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what, that's what no one's doing to do.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, did you fight on my tires?
[SPEAKER_01]: But when you find it, they would look the arrow.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they did.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're weird little creatures, but they're adorable.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they also are, they're a mini these spread disease.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they do with a nerve language.
[SPEAKER_01]: It would jump into the water supply by itself and then foam that water supply is now corrupted.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do have a closet.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they can not, they'll mess.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, don't get me wrong, but they're, they're on a large champions to get.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are designed to disrupt and create things.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're, they're small.
[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see them popping like president, they'll, they'll, they'll rip a hole in a vehicle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not because they're going to run in and kill anything because they're space frame.
[SPEAKER_01]: We just step on it and it's dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'd rip a hole in the vehicles.
[SPEAKER_01]: The space frame since I could be poisoned by the air outside.
[SPEAKER_01]: This may be my childhood.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so, but they also just stuff like they get in the way, you know, like, if you go to, they'll just, they will, if they're stories of them effectively linking hands and standing in front and standing in front, it's not much to be able to, so you have to drive over them because they just get in the way.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, one of the bigger things is they'll, again, they trash your stuff.
[SPEAKER_02]: They grumlins it up.
[SPEAKER_02]: They will ruin your beacon.
[SPEAKER_02]: They'll try to mess up your communications.
[SPEAKER_02]: They'll break your shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'll make it smell real bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the horrible diversion, there's just something that they do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not, and it's why I like them so much because they're not an actual purposeful unit in that regard.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just in the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's annoying.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're taking an every army that has nothing.
[SPEAKER_01]: On a less fun version are the plague bears.
[SPEAKER_01]: The plague bears are kind of bite, I use word bipy, lots of people know they're talking about.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are corrupted, probably humanoids.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the battle line version.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the most populous of nervous demons.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is their eggs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I thought that I think Nergos flips on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I can possibly have them out in the most popular.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the plague bears are the world.
[SPEAKER_02]: So the workers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they also, but they have a fun side one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where is like with corn and with zinech, their, you know, their work horses are for war or for whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Plagueberries also tend to nergles garden.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're the ones planting limbs in the garden.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're the ones making sure that they just do work.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're always doing something.
[SPEAKER_01]: These guys are really useful to be honest.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they also are made of disease.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you get near a plague bear, it is some viewing disease out of it.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're the most boring to watch though.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're the workhorse's, but also it's kind of like watching the walking dead slightly faster.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're zombies.
[SPEAKER_01]: They want them mozy towards things because they have a big little sword on the walls.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like their arms are falling off on the model.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it is the way that they're built to be, just they're in the state of decay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then you've got your rock flies, which grows.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the cool model though, Matt.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest, the
[SPEAKER_01]: Play drones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Play drones.
[SPEAKER_01]: The play drones look really, really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's it because when we say like when I say like the the block fly from forty from fallout is like we'll shoot the pistol and it dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are massive.
[SPEAKER_01]: These things are, you know, not quite dragon size, but they're pretty big.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got their mixed with their drink size.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, they're a Drake size.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And
[SPEAKER_01]: There actually are the plague bears watching ride them in the battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, what they do is they fly around and they actually are drooling out poisons and toxins, which would be really bad if you were a space marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as they fly over things, they actually spread disease, almost like a crop dusting airplane does.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're ridden by play bears, but they can be ridden by other day they'd ridden by play champions.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then we'll move to one of Brad's favorites.
[SPEAKER_01]: Be some nargo.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love these has these things are, it's, I'll be honest, I hate the GW version of these.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the model and never have.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the giant slog with arms and teeth.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually put on their back.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's here as a how far GW goes on these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've built it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a giant slug with a giant mouth and teeth.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's at arms, but in the back it has these tubes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll see them like, why are those there?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because those tubes are actually spewing out disease, rot, and pestilence at the back of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: That being said, they're paying the ass to build.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of ugly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you play the game, one of my favorite things when I play this game is when I play someone who's playing Nergal Demons, and I see that they have Beasts of Nergal, I think I've played in all of the guitar play that played against actual Beasts of Nergal models one time.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually so kid-bashed.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was to say, I don't know if I know what an actual beast of neural life looks like.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do because I went to buy them and I went, yeah, not buying that.
[SPEAKER_01]: There are an endless amount of three-D print and alternative models out there, or just people kid-bashed them, like minor plague codes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the ALS models are cooler always.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everyone has their own thing with these beasts of neural.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe outside of chaos, space marine models, they're probably the most kid-bashed model in the game.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I believe that on that because I say I don't think maybe a grot from dark all there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea what those somebody brought a real grot one time against me and I went.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're task.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've seen something I've played against actual grotesques on at least three occasions.
[SPEAKER_01]: I genuinely think I played against an actual place of neural.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get psyched on this.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, why they're the best because they want to play.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the room.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's the, that screw the rules.
[SPEAKER_01]: The rules are actually pretty good.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're Laura's amazing.
[SPEAKER_01]: They see you and they're like a puppy.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just want to run over and play with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's more like Lenny, I'm about to make an off my cement comment, and I realize who are listening.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys know it is great, but I also wrote, I'm talking about a book that was a set that hasn't been assigned reading in like twenty years or more.
[SPEAKER_02]: But still anyway, I'm going to rub love him and hug him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so what they do is they see someone they've run over to them as fast as they can or, you know, they don't have legs, so they kind of they'll squit up.
[SPEAKER_02]: But in playing with them, they wrap them up with their teeth.
[SPEAKER_01]: They hug you and bite you, but they're, it's you're being played with something that's three times a size of a grizzly bear.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, with spiked gross rotting disease teeth.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's actually how they kill you is they're not trying to kill you.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're trying to love you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're kind of sad after your dad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: They say they try and find something else to go play with.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, beasts of Nergal are, I guess, could you not be writing here?
[SPEAKER_01]: They're terrifying?
[SPEAKER_01]: They're terrifying.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're terrifying on paper, but in Lord, like, as I should kind of adorable.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, is not adorable?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the greater demons of Nergal are not adorable at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: Great unclean ones.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: One, they're bonkers of gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, again, awesome model.
[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing.
[SPEAKER_02]: They do a well thing about it, but the actual, when you think about,
[SPEAKER_02]: what a great unclean one is.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is just a one man gang of disease and pestilence.
[SPEAKER_02]: They have their own effective ecosystems because they have other creatures that live off them.
[SPEAKER_02]: They have hordes of nerglings.
[SPEAKER_02]: They have rat flies.
[SPEAKER_02]: They
[SPEAKER_02]: They, the butterflies, they have, if they just, their mere presence, but make you weaker.
[SPEAKER_01]: Being around them sucks your life for us out because there's so much death in decay coming out of them, and they are massive too.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a massive mound of the clang of the clang of decaying flesh.
[SPEAKER_02]: They are significantly larger than tanks, big tanks, land raiders, healing comparison.
[SPEAKER_01]: And one thing we haven't mentioned about near-go units, which we should, they are disgustingly resilient.
[SPEAKER_01]: Indeed, they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the thing about neural units is that how do you kill something that's in the middle of dying and decay?
[SPEAKER_01]: And so what great on clean ones, the greatest example of this, I mean, stay puffed marshmallow and ask where it's like, you shoot at it with a giant tank shell and it just, it's all made at the king flesh.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, I put a hole in it, but like, did he really need any of those parts?
[SPEAKER_01]: And then it all goes through and then the hole just decays and falls over.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't heal at Wolverine.
[SPEAKER_01]: It just,
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the giant thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the kind of the cool rule from a gameplay standpoint, all in herbal, you know, tab is disgusting and really resilient.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can kill them, but they're already dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they don't really care.
[SPEAKER_01]: You blast an arm off the Pox Walker.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're playing there, sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they do, they are the generals, like as with all of the greater demons, they lead the forces.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the great unclean ones, but I will say some of them lead from behind.
[SPEAKER_01]: The great unclean might think is more like a blood therster, and that it doesn't like, it's coming to get you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not, it's not this like, I'm gonna command and move the troops strategically.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, we're all going that way, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I've got the biggest sword.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so I'm really gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was always kind of what's because I'm on some of the key demons of niracle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Before we dive into this, I do want to point out who best naming the GW does.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's some of these guys just get played for their names.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have the sloppy biopiper.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's these are real names.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not even.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not even messing them up for a change.
[SPEAKER_01]: sloppy biopiper on one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Spoilpock skrivener on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Horticux slimeux.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't have one yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have one probably.
[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of these.
[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't tell you what their rules are, but I know I've played.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've played them.
[SPEAKER_02]: He rides a snail.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Holy, the Horticux slimeux.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: He rides this now.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a thick, like, normal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And which is just a tree that you get to put up.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, it's a baby garden turtle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a couple of favorites I really do have.
[SPEAKER_01]: The first one I thought was Epidemius.
[SPEAKER_01]: who is the tallyman of nerve?
[SPEAKER_02]: Always the tallyman of diseases.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's the tallyman of diseases and their effects on people.
[SPEAKER_02]: He wants to get a record of every disease and every effectively side effect that every disease has that he keeps or running total of all of them names them names the side effects names everything that can happen from them.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have a different tallyman who's actually named
[SPEAKER_01]: The telling what I like about him is that Epidemius also is writing these all down by hand on the battlefield.
[SPEAKER_01]: He rides around on a chair on top as being carried around by knurglings.
[SPEAKER_01]: that they, and he's just observing the battle and what's a dying and like how they're dying and is writing it down as he rides through the bad.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's writing the best shift notes ever in a hospital.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I will give them credit.
[SPEAKER_01]: The numbers do come up here.
[SPEAKER_01]: His throne is carried by seven, twenty-one, fourteen, twenty-eight, nerve-links.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's always, it is a surprise.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the few times they actually wrote it in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Boom!
[SPEAKER_01]: Not only that though, when he's out of ink, he just pops one of the nerve-links and uses that the inside of the nerve-links are right on his parchment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or they get to get bombeted up, but it's just gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is, this is this is niracle on niracle.
[SPEAKER_02]: And on niracle on niracle action.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's, let's discuss Nervole and the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to keep our cast somewhat from the perspective of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just helps you with that perspective.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nurgle is the most prevalent and irritating God for the embryo.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's nothing close.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Imperium would rather have would rather double the amount of all the three other cast gods than it would to have Nurgle because Nurgle is inevitable.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's not even that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Nurgle, whoa, whoa, whoa, he got to look at this from an accountants state of view.
[SPEAKER_02]: Nurgle ruined shit because you can't reuse Nurgle shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you have a Nurgle hits a planet hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you have war on a planet, you can repurpose the planet.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a cult on a planet, you can just kill everybody in the cult and repurpose the planet.
[SPEAKER_02]: If Nurgle comes to the planet, well, the planet basically no longer exists.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to burn the planet to the ground at which point it's not worth it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Mike, now you've just tearing it up a planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and neural also the imperium creates all four gods, obviously.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, when we think about the imperium, one that we talk about high worlds really well, overpopulations are the key part of the of the imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when I'm able to overpopulation, you're going to get famine, you're going to get war, and you're going to get disease.
[SPEAKER_01]: And pestilence.
[SPEAKER_02]: Never forget pestilence, John.
[SPEAKER_02]: Never forget.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's your period of creating this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But also, Nurgle, as we described in earlier, is creating new diseases.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is workshop all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And all the us to do is specifically for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, just drop one of those diseases onto, onto a high world.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to spread pretty quick, because the Nutcrits, sanitation, either.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I love the fact that you put the numbers out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I actually, I did look this up five.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, hey, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: There are the neural relishes in the growth of humanity.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, trillions, quintillions, see, I looked it up, guys, of human souls are dying in the imperium every single day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Most of those are dying probably from some variation of suffering, which is also bonkers more than any race in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now they do influence chaos more than anybody else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, as these souls reach out to Nerglow to free them from the suffering, Nerglow's there, Nerglow then does what he always does.
[SPEAKER_01]: He makes it so they will not die.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he also was able to use this to infect.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where you got a lot of more of his cultist mobs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, the, all right, it's the fourth verse of my morning is made up.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going to pretend that I actually know what, what makes a cultist this or that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I have a hunch that the near little cultist mobs are probably more people who just haven't infected by novel.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's a big thing on that.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that you only need one to go in.
[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, everyone around him and then you have to worship Nergal or you will die and people will do whatever they need to do to not die.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this will spread pretty quickly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So once you allow Nergal in, he's able to spread pretty aggressively.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is where, from the Imperium standpoint, you don't get a lot of stories of inquisition hunting down NERGLE, because it's actually really all of the Imperium's hunting down NERGLE.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the thing is, is that you don't get it.
[SPEAKER_02]: NERGLE, unfortunately, leads to the least exciting of books mostly.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there is a couple of cool, one on ones with different demon preferences and great and clean with this stuff.
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a most part, the Imperium just virus bombs and blows up planets.
[SPEAKER_02]: They get attracted by NERGLE because
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all you can do.
[SPEAKER_01]: All they can do, you can't defeat.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there isn't.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to root out.
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have, you know, the inquisitors going in and finding, cutting off the head of the serpent and finding out you're just like, oh, this planet's wrecked by Nergal.
[SPEAKER_02]: Again, just do what we always do and just burn it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Burn it on the whole thing down because I mean, I will say I think that the the nergal stories of a bookstore standpoint that revolver on deathguard are good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not all the time.
[SPEAKER_02]: But they're big battles and stuff.
[SPEAKER_02]: The thing is is that you can't have, and the English-ish novels a lot of times are like detected novels almost.
[SPEAKER_02]: You can't have a fun, given take because in the end, why would I bother going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also really easy, detective work.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, what's going on over there?
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's sick and dying.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, nerdals are like it's not.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, also the god that you don't want showing up on your planet if you want to keep living as as you were is neural because now the inquisition gives the the aliens from it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've got a new kid from duke from the sky the only way to be safe.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I'm trying to think through the some great stories on nargo, but it's like this is the story.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's the thing stuff that we'll cover in future.
[SPEAKER_01]: So
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think that's probably enough coverage of Nurgle for now.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll probably do some more stuff in the future with like a deathguard and some, as we, we're going to do some cast talking about, you know, the, the thirteenth black crusade, the endominus era, which is, you'll hear us reference with Nurgle's dealings, but I think this gets everyone a pretty good base of what Nurgle is and just trying to hear.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to move into slenish.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_01]: So whereas Nervo is like this God of death decay and rebirth, sleneth really is a God of yellow.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll give you that, but the thing is, is that I give more, because people like always look at it as political and this.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, that's not the thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Sleneth is the God of perfection.
[SPEAKER_02]: The God of excess in your striving to be perfect.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's artisans.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically anybody that's coming up with
[SPEAKER_02]: ideas, it's musicians, it's artists.
[SPEAKER_02]: But the thing is, you can also be an engineer and you want to be, you want to make the best, you know, I want to make the best cathedral for the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_02]: And even though I'm the most highest of members of the Imperium, I'm driven to be better than all the other engineers that want to, you know, put that cathedral up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to dive into this in a second, but I do want to say my opinion is I think that the LDR pleasure calls.
[SPEAKER_01]: were what pushed Slash's birth over the edge, but the Eldar's existence created Slash.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because they're psychos, and they get focused on the desire for perfection.
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're, I'm the best muffin baker in the universe.
[SPEAKER_02]: Those guys were, and I always make fun of this because the guys that are making pasta are as driven as a striking scorpions working on his martial techniques, that guy is just as crazy.
[SPEAKER_02]: So that leads to
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not actually the slenesh came from their desire for perfection, but a couple of little pieces on what slenesh does.
[SPEAKER_01]: So slenesh, heavily, it is the God of excess pleasure and perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when you use a perfection, it really is the perfection of more of a proxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's mostly people, let's start the inverse.
[SPEAKER_01]: The excess and the pleasure are the proxy of the real thing, which is perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slonesh, here's about perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: But when you are obsessed with perfecting your craft, you take, it's because you're taking pleasure in that perfection and you're going to go to excesses to, yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: And also you have to have an excess of pride.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And slonesh is very big on.
[SPEAKER_02]: pitting you against rivals.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you could be you're good, but we're not as good as John because he's clearly better than you are.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about some great references for this with the Horace Harrisy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And let's just say the turning of the Emperor's children was not about like a pleasure cult.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's about perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we mentioned before how much corn he's
[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to explain why because so corn first off corn is the oldest slash of the youngest.
[SPEAKER_01]: So again, he's sibling.
[SPEAKER_01]: The oldest does not like the youngest.
[SPEAKER_02]: Corn's also arguably the most serious.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Selanesh is considered a child, a fob.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because yeah, because Selanesh doesn't even have a true purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's not shortly, but Selanesh's almost feels torn in her goals.
[SPEAKER_01]: In my mind, where his corn has very singular.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, Selanesh just is looking more for a feeling.
[SPEAKER_01]: So torture,
[SPEAKER_02]: Why strike from the shadows when you could challenge someone and show that you're marshally better than them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, corn looks at the way slenash fights.
[SPEAKER_01]: It goes, this is pathetic.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have warriors.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corners are like torture.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corners are like torture.
[SPEAKER_01]: He wants combat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you tie someone down when you can stay and make them stand in front of you?
[SPEAKER_01]: In slenash, otherwise this finds corn to be boring.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slenash is kind of doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The whole thing of like, why are you doing this?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, you have no per... They really do, they are good inverse of hers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corns view point is it should all be you know one on one combat or like a great combat slash if you point is like
[SPEAKER_01]: shallow and pedantic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, I just want, I want my person to win.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you not care who wins?
[SPEAKER_01]: So they, they de-est each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where a lot of us though is the fact that slenish isn't immature God.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's only my God sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, she has less than ten thousand years old.
[SPEAKER_01]: Probably, you know, I think of slenish kind of like if you've ever, you know, bought a dog or seen a puppy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even at a year, there's still not all the way
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the ten thousand years of full being slenish sentience, slenish was rolling around in the war.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, so was corn, but they lean how long?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, probably got thirty thousand years.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, I'm saying that you're from the gods now.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, corn could have been around for millions of years.
[SPEAKER_02]: Slenish could have been all the more strong.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're done with from pure sentience, corn is over four times older.
[SPEAKER_01]: At least.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's why it's so, so Nash is still learning or powers, even like slanesha's goals feel conflicted, because we hear about slanesha just, you know, wants to consume all the souls of the elder, but is also affecting mankind is doing all of this.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's a lot of things because also like slanesha's wants to feed in all the souls of the elder and hasn't fed it on the other soul in like a hot minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: So my impression of it, and I don't know again, this is my impression on of GW mentor right at this way, is that Slinash is also just worrying new things that makes Slinash happy, where it is this piece of a human being giving their soul over there, whatever the slash gives Slinash a lot of joy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a new thing for Slinash, because when she was born a whole thing, I'm gonna kill every one of these other things.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but she kind of shouldn't bail on the other, because they'd still the one that thirst to grade the power.
[SPEAKER_02]: But that's one of the things that Smash does now because and she did it.
[SPEAKER_02]: She did a quick sidestep.
[SPEAKER_02]: I am the anti Eldar.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the Greek boogie man of the elder and then she went, Oh, look, he made it in me and just kind of walked away.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, everything goes Eldar die.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to eat, but I'm going to go over here for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is way cooler.
[SPEAKER_01]: The birth of Slonesh, we covered long story, very short.
[SPEAKER_01]: Eldar got Eldar or a race of perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: They got bored at some point and then started killing each other and just doing a little dance, which took
[SPEAKER_01]: the god a perfection and then taught it pleasures of the flush for lack of a better phrase and it explode and around the year thirty thousand the warp disturbances that had been going on for a bit before this the new god emerged.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a long process though.
[SPEAKER_01]: They really don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ten thousand years.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because we had no warp travel for a while.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is the dark eight.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is after the one that's caused the dark eight to take off.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: What's after, because the dark age of technology was our glory time.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the after point.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it just strife, which was awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was the age of technology, but not talk about it.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the dark age of technology.
[SPEAKER_02]: Follow the kind of overlap.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not important.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Eldar is born.
[SPEAKER_01]: She kills and consumes currently all but three of the Eldar gods depending on what year you're playing this game.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was all of the Eldar gods.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then it was one of the all but one and all but two.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we're all but three.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see who else pops around.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also probably consume ninety percent Eldar population.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's just at birth.
[SPEAKER_01]: True story.
[SPEAKER_01]: The power of slenashers, we discussed, it is, I mean, the original writing on slenash was the seven deadly sins.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gluteny, sloth, greed, lust, pride, wrath, and envy.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are the things that slenash loves, but the truth is they all circle back to perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is what slenash really feeds on.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that can kind of go into, we'll do a iteration on it, because it can be perfection and pride.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you can't, because you can't, because you're spectrum of pride.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one's, no one's, because you can have good pride to be honest with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one's that perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can just, you, you, you, you're, you are overwhelming desire for perfection comes from pride.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it, because it's an excess of anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: You guys can tell by the audio editing of this podcast, I don't suffer from that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this comes from very interesting areas, though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slonesh feeds on the desires of people, this we discuss in this perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: The most powerful versions of Slonesh are actually in artists and actually warriors.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by artists, we don't just mean, so I'm making art, can be art, can music, can be meals.
[SPEAKER_01]: It can be architecture, whatever it is.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a big thing because it can be on, when you talk about artisans, it's the people making things.
[SPEAKER_02]: You can be the best person that puts railways.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're making the best.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're the best rhino creator of all time.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you take great pride in the fact that you are an innovator.
[SPEAKER_02]: You are the best.
[SPEAKER_02]: You make the cleanest versions of these.
[SPEAKER_02]: You make the best feast for the Imperial rulers.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to be better and better.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you get, again, pride and access.
[SPEAKER_02]: Go into that.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to be better.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, remember, the Imperium is a giant place for you to make an impact.
[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be
[SPEAKER_01]: very significant.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why only the best at something and you have to be better.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's being the best isn't good enough.
[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be the best and you have to let people know you're the best and you have to be so much the best that it has to be.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, you have to you have to come out with flare.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to rick flare.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say one thing I like about the writing on Slinesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do explain the way your corruption to Slinesh goes.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the only God that they would be fit for the nerve.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Slinesh is in my mind, makes the worst deal of all the gods with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Or it's the best deal at first.
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to say it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You think it's the best deal because Slonesh gives you what you want.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll use cooking, for example.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to be that make the greatest chicken, anyone's ever had, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's cork starts chicken, but that's a side note to keep me and I couldn't be in gross.
[SPEAKER_02]: They have chicken and other.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have chicken, but anyway, the greatest chicken.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slash will actually allow you to make a chicken that no one has ever tasted at this good in your life.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this recipe is yours.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a one time thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could make this over and over again.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what that slash does is then she infects your brain and makes you not makes that's not enough.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now you have to do the greatest chicken and rice.
[SPEAKER_02]: What in the thing is, is everything starts, everything else also starts to be ash.
[SPEAKER_02]: Anything besides your best is nothing.
[SPEAKER_02]: It might as well be again.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is sacred not only is it awful, but it's a failure.
[SPEAKER_02]: You start going farther and farther and you make it the best.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so nothing else will satiate you except for this.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then soon as you're on the open goes, we only I can provide that thing that thing that gives your entire life meaning.
[SPEAKER_02]: Looks like you'll do whatever it takes to get that thing again, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Correct?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_01]: Keeps taking more and more and more from it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It always ends the same way.
[SPEAKER_01]: It actually ends with you ending your life.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool from the writing standpoint, but this is the evil of slenex.
[SPEAKER_01]: Slenex always gets there.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're great stories of that though.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the best stories of slash are fantastic stories because they make sense too.
[SPEAKER_02]: Fullroom.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's the thing is fullroom and what's is not the allusious.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the story of Lucius and fullroom are both fantastic.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's people falling.
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't think that they're falling, but they're trying to they're actually originally trying to make themselves better for the Emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lucius just wanted to be the greatest sword dueler in all of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_02]: program wanted his legion to be the perfect legion and they they start falling down and lots of these they have lots of to be honest to be fair a lot of the fan fake on this and different stories of youtube they've done a lot of good things people falling to slimej our fantastic because they do it from
[SPEAKER_02]: Again, the the baker, the engineer, the whatever those people falling to slenish.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's fascinating because slenish is looking for these key pieces in the imperium because yes, if I take over phlegom.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that's a huge blow, but like the day by day people.
[SPEAKER_02]: that are responsible for, hey, the logistics point of this planet that supplies all these battles.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the best, that's what's going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, this, Lanesh is trying to take all of your best.
[SPEAKER_02]: Any, your best logistics people are still the best and they can work and make a huge act of slenash because they're trying to do good by the impact.
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I think it's fascinating because none of these people are like down with this.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, no, I want to do better than anybody's ever do.
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be the best person for the emperor.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the most loyal of citizens.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you go, no, you've been a slash worshipper for years now.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, what, oh, man, I'm the bad guy.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're good, buddy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Numbers and colors as we always cover.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was just spit.
[SPEAKER_01]: because he knows where this is going.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just number is six and their colors are purple, pink and black.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I got here.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, I'm at the fourth one and I just don't care anymore because they've never made this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It made this of any value.
[SPEAKER_02]: Their colors are my favorite colors of the demons by far.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hands down.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because I love the darks going into lights.
[SPEAKER_02]: I can see that very well, but I also think it looks great on the tabletop.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you're painting a selenash army, I just love the highlights because the highlights catch the light on tabletop.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like them the least.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'll just look anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: So slash in the warp is actually one of the more.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty weird, actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's it's it's sometimes GW leans in hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now usually when they lean in hard and in this case, it doesn't involve a lot of plagiarism, but that's line of point.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Flanesh has a giant complex.
[SPEAKER_01]: The center is Slanesh's temple.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like hold on, I'm sorry, I interrupt.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sorry, I interrupt all the time, but I'm going to give everybody the purpose of we cannot even remotely do justice and not make this the weirdest podcast ever to these six rings of temptation of Sinesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, by the way.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's six rooms also.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a slenash as you try to get to the center of slenash.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like because they say rings.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's six realities basically exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's exactly because it's not like there's a ring and you get the next level.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just it's sick and they stole it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will say Dante's inferno was nine.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a dead rip.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fully done.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I've read Dante's inferno and
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I think, certain some of their writers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so each of the rings, the idea of slanesh is the god of temptation.
[SPEAKER_01]: So at each stage, it's trying to tempt you with a different thing that would naturally make you go.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, the thing is, is that you have to enter
[SPEAKER_02]: all of these willingly.
[SPEAKER_02]: These aren't your forced to do battle.
[SPEAKER_02]: You got sucked in.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to agree to go and then once you're in them, you have to then walk away from whatever they are to get access to the next.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, these are these are trials.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would actually refer to the more the trials of slen ashes probably would have been a better naming mechanism for this, but
[SPEAKER_02]: Whether I like to say realities because slonish puts you in some of these trials in a different life where it's a reality.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are where trials is because you have to overcome it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can't just walk through it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to interact.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you, it's not even just interacting.
[SPEAKER_02]: You might live a lifetime.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, these, and so they all have different ways that they kill you.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you get trapped, the first one is the ring of excessive riches.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a realm of endless amounts of incredible wealth.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gold, jewels, diamonds, and the further you kind of progress through it,
[SPEAKER_01]: the greater these things are.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking about, I mean, I just wouldn't really work on like a invading a corn army, but, you know, they don't even notice it because they took the gems and they mounted it on their accent.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll hit some of it with this, this looks sharp.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as you wander through, there is a life-altering wealth sitting in front of you.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can pick up a couple of these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing is, I could pick this gem off.
[SPEAKER_02]: Would they also, they give you the access to odniffered reality.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you bend to the will,
[SPEAKER_02]: So let's convince you that your riches are now, they lead you to be in a palace in this.
[SPEAKER_02]: And all of a sudden you go, oh crap, this isn't actually reality.
[SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm going to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess what happens most of the lot is one that are designed to trap you so that you just wander endlessly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what happens if you do bend down to pick up any of these gems, jewels, whatever it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: you naturally see one right in front of it that's actually worth more than when you're being out of pick up and you know this isn't you know like any good RPG you've got limited carry capacity today what happens is you drop them one in your hand to go grab the next one and then the next one the next one see you end up forever
[SPEAKER_01]: wandering around, trying to pick up the next, the next greatest gem, the next greatest thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: But you get rewarded and then still have it.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you're obviously enticed to be more and more filled agreed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: If for whatever reason you see the endless riches, you then go to the excessive sustenance.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote here, Brad and I are gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm already.
[SPEAKER_01]: I get just one.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're done.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is what this one thing is about that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So first off, giant leg of one.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're up.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I was saying.
[SPEAKER_02]: I still haven't gotten any farther.
[SPEAKER_02]: I heard there was more trials here, John.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I'm supposed to do besides.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where I want to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: The words of space bowls would just be lost in corn's world.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a Brad and I just go, yeah, this is my new home.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you actually will drink people start drinking wine from the lake and then eventually they go into the lake and then they drown drinking wine out of the lake to which my note was
[SPEAKER_01]: There's worse ways to go.
[SPEAKER_02]: One of the bigger things is they give you the most delicious thing of anything you've ever tasted, the most wine, the food, whatever.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is one of the best, I can't remember the story of it.
[SPEAKER_02]: But even people that have successfully broken out of this ring, they're ruined forever because you always have the memory of how good it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of how good and everything is terrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: We probably should mention at the center of this lake of wine is an island and it's an island of food.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, they get a little gross about like, is some of the food made up of other, other things that you failed to find.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just skip that far because I read that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, that's just, that's done writing.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I like to think you made a much more, because this, this is all stolen from brief ethalogy.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got no, I can't work.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it was that I don't think doing it right now, but there's a Greek mythology that's falls into, but I like thinking about it as, oh, you know, you don't drink wine cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you go to this island, do you eat food?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care what you eat.
[SPEAKER_01]: The best version I've ever existed is that they're at an infinite quantity.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, the best.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is my favorite because even when you win against Lennash, you still lost because now
[SPEAKER_02]: Everything is trash forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cause you always have that memory.
[SPEAKER_01]: You'll never taste it in this group.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, even if you win, you defeat everything, you leave the realm of salvation.
[SPEAKER_02]: You always have in your mind how everything hails so not even close.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're eating saltine crackers that don't have salt on them for the rest of your life.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's just for again.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't care about money.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't really care about food because you're a space marine and you don't poop.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you do get poisoned.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the next, the poison, the next is the ring of bodily delights, which I call the eyes wide shut ring.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one where we think about sling out a lot of times.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the orgy ring.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is what it is, but full of demonets.
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is the one where I feel like, come on, man, if you know where you're going, I can see.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one you saw come.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one you were on.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the only reason why there's people who probably get to this ring because they went to this realm for this ring.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the first one, I don't cut the money.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't cut the food.
[SPEAKER_01]: There it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm here.
[SPEAKER_02]: But also like this is the way that instantly it doesn't even trap you in.
[SPEAKER_02]: You just get murdered.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like, hey, I got all the I got my, uh, my jam on with all these girls and Damon that's murdered me instantly and you're like, like, guys, come on, can I hang out here for a little bit?
[SPEAKER_02]: The other much you eat food for eternity, but also you kind of saw this coming.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, as the Damon that's killing you, you're like, yeah, I should have probably seen when coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, let's pretend you're, you're
[SPEAKER_01]: a very like noble space Marine, like you know, a dark angel.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's okay, you know, like, all right, I don't care about the money, I don't care about the food, I don't care about the eyes wide shut.
[SPEAKER_01]: The next one can kind of get you.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is called the Ring of Adoration.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is where you are.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the next couple of rings.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually thought that this is the first other of multiple swings at you that this one has done.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in this one, it's just people thanking you.
[SPEAKER_02]: And we have to back it up again because slenash creates realities that you can get trapped in.
[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't like two-day minutes or like you're the best bro.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a manifesting referring to something that you have done.
[SPEAKER_02]: But also, you might think that it is the reality.
[SPEAKER_02]: You pop in and go and you, oh, I must have busted out of slenash's realm because I'm back with the dark ages.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm back on Calvan.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm being rewarded.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the adoration from every on about how well you did when you with the slenches realm.
[SPEAKER_02]: You defeated easily all the slenches.
[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't fall prey to any of the desires of the wants.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you just sit there and then you waste away on your little throne of adoration.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you never left the lashes realm and you still die there.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you think that you're the best.
[SPEAKER_01]: But again, maybe you're a person who doesn't really like praise.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: What do we, I don't even know what's space for in chapter I've gotten to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's probably great nights.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've met this by this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, or maybe you've never did anything to deserve praise.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, but the ring of achievement is what's going to hit you next.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the ring of achievement is
[SPEAKER_01]: rough because this one is this one you actually live a fantasy of it's your own doing of the achievement so they go or yeah whereas the one before the ring of the iteration they're rewarding you for something that you have a memory of something you did that was really noble maybe you just haven't for whatever reason
[SPEAKER_01]: The Ring of Achievement is the fantasy world.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now they will create something you will you know, slay a beast or if you're an artist you will you will sit there and then you will you'll pick up an instrument or if your musician is art plays me and you will play a masterpiece or you'll compose a masterpiece.
[SPEAKER_01]: maybe if you're just kind of more of a interference person, you can practice if you're a pirate, you'll conquer a star system.
[SPEAKER_01]: And these are these are the fans that you live out and it is real.
[SPEAKER_01]: You are living this out and you will be here forever as you live out this great thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you could potentially then find yourself back in the ring of alteration as a result of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what is a big thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Remember, it's the warp.
[SPEAKER_02]: So this
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's not happening.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is happening because you have unlimited resources.
[SPEAKER_02]: You have the hollow deck.
[SPEAKER_02]: You have the hollow deck from Star Trek times one billion because you can make.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll make a fake galaxy for you to live out your weird dreams so that I can trap you.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you have access to in slash as round.
[SPEAKER_01]: The last ring is actually from a writing standpoint, my favorite.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you think about this, you pin through five trials so far.
[SPEAKER_01]: Each of them has pulled you in a different direction.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe some of them didn't speak to you, but some of them definitely didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: You had to really gather yourself to get through.
[SPEAKER_01]: The last one hit is a ring of repose, which is just a break.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all of a sudden you come into this realm and there's a gay rock or a bench and you sit down on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the most comfortable you've been in your entire life.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you're fed with, well, why are you doing this?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you should be fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just take a break.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just take a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at your breath.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look how far you've come.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is you're doing great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just sit here for a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: And time just begins to go.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you don't even notice.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.
[SPEAKER_02]: All I want to do is I want to sit for a moment.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, why would you, you deserve to just catch up?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for whatever game that was probably from your in my youth of like, wary travelers, rest here, wary traveler.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's to me, this is so nefarious.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the entire place is designed to be comfortable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every step you hate is downhill.
[SPEAKER_01]: the wind that blows over you feels like it's massaging you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you just naturally, it is a ring of comfort.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it just slows you down to eventually you just go, yeah, I'm gonna take a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just give me a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get there and then you're gone.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then of course, it's the, the wave of time works in the warp.
[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes with this ring, the slenches and trying, sometimes she's trying to capture forever.
[SPEAKER_02]: But sometimes you're just gonna miss the battle.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to keep you forever.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just need you to miss.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, maybe you sat down.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, I do need a second.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that second is actually a hundred years, and now you've just completely missed the entire incursion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, slenesh, just like with corn, entering the old, actually talk was with Nargal, but with corn and with zinch.
[SPEAKER_01]: If some, in some way, you were to get through all the trials and get to the end.
[SPEAKER_01]: You meet Slonash and meeting Slonash is bad because Slonash is the most beautiful creature that has ever existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it also is the most beautiful creature according to you.
[SPEAKER_01]: You exactly, it's not, it's not, you can't argue this one.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a, it's a, and then you go, has the emperor been using Kia as far as the entire time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so what happens is if you ever meet Slonash, you will just be paralyzed by Slonash's beauty.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Slonash doesn't want you here.
[SPEAKER_01]: So she is the McKilsey.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a bummer.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I would have put it.
[SPEAKER_01]: When the I give you credit on and rather this is that no one's ever.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how it always ends.
[SPEAKER_01]: There is no like, well, then so and so was able to know every time someone gets there, they get the treatment of being Slonash, they are dead.
[SPEAKER_02]: You get your achievement, and you're in your steam, and then you're your killer.
[SPEAKER_01]: So from there we'll do, again we've been same recipe of new and open over again, same one, the followers of slenish.
[SPEAKER_02]: And these have been done very differently over the ages.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Damonettes are the battle line, the go-to, again, the clock in, the Cal Ripcon Jr.
[SPEAKER_02]: of the demons.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're most populous and these have been horribly terrible to look at, beautiful to look at, some version of both because they're women, they're females with class rhymes and they have been done wildly different over the years of whether they're just super beautiful with some ways to fight or horrifying with some ways to fight.
[SPEAKER_02]: They always had ways to fight, but just
[SPEAKER_01]: They are, they're, they're also immensely fast.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, whereas Nurgle is kind of this plotting army, the Slanesh are fast.
[SPEAKER_02]: Blankening things.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: In Kremlin, this concept, they do come from Eldar, who are also fighting.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's their own, they're basically vampires from, Scott.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying they're super fast.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're all over you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the demonets, they also, they perform for a slenesh.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not only the warriors, but they're also as we were talking about.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is why they're so different.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is why they could be any different forms because they do perform.
[SPEAKER_02]: They literally perform.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it music?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it art?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it dancing?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's all of the above.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that demonets, they sort of, it's weird purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: The stories are like slenesh sits around in her castle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the demonets are there gossiping and telling, telling her stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is kind of what the demon is.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they'll also put the look put on performances.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because against slenesh, I don't really think slenesh has fully knows her purpose yet.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, slenesh is also a fickle mistress because they also tear down what slenesh doesn't like.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing that slenesh loved this moment
[SPEAKER_01]: The next moment might be the thing that she hates, which also could mean the fiends are killing other fiends, who perform the same play for the thousandth time, but on this time, slenish no longer loves it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So kill all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Beyond them, you also have fiends who are just beasts of slenish.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're a centaur meets a crab in us.
[SPEAKER_02]: And in there's so different, they're wildly different in shape.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you look at the scorpion tales good at though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Poisonic space marines.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, Jesus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course it is.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like four times in one episode.
[SPEAKER_02]: But they are disconcertingly beautiful even though they're horrifying to look at.
[SPEAKER_02]: In all the stories, almost everyone that meets these is like gross.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a weird thing and they're also taking it back.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're taking it back, but they're aestheticness.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's because again, it is, you can Google it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a centaur crab scorpion, but people see them and it's I have never seen beauty like this in my life.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then the movements to it.
[SPEAKER_02]: They get mesmerized by the movements of a help.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically how the other move.
[SPEAKER_02]: Elder, we are described as moving too quickly and too precisely.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's nerve.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so much does this, but times a hundred.
[SPEAKER_02]: They take everything about them and go farther.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Slanesh has a greater team.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's named the keeper of secrets.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so these things are weird.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got forearms, horns.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have a laser shark teeth.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're gonna pause.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're pausing on this one because this has been described differently, ret kind.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the model has always been, well, not even always been, it's changed also.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is even giant times.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I will used to have more creepy sheds.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oops.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's always been a giant deal.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a greater deal than they're all huge.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're giant monsters.
[SPEAKER_02]: But depending on the story, sometimes they're beautiful.
[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes they're only mesmerizing because of their movements and stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: and it really depends on what story you read of, is it a creature of great beauty?
[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's always perceived as a creature of great beauty.
[SPEAKER_02]: They do always have four arms.
[SPEAKER_02]: They've got horns and they've got raised a mouthful of razor sharp teeth.
[SPEAKER_02]: They appear different to different people.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that almost always the slenish creatures project onto your mind what you want to see.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, and so the keepers are good example of this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The keeper is this monstrous beauty.
[SPEAKER_01]: but it is also, and it's kind of, this is the theme amongst Slonesh demons.
[SPEAKER_01]: We describe it as being beautiful, but they're not.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're actually quite gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they project an aura around them that makes you perceive them as beautiful.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they always look as whatever you think is beautiful too.
[SPEAKER_01]: We look at the model.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, oh, I mean, it's definitely more like more slender and feminine than anything else that in the line.
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's still grow with crab claws and blades and all kinds of things.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the magic around there.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's an actual they have an aura around them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And one thing I like about is that the way they actually can fight, they're really, they're up there with like blood thirsters and their ability to be able to fight because they actually have pre-god.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when they're fighting, they'll actually sense movement and they'll counter that movement.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're known for this, they'll always like, you can be attacking them with a flurry and out of nowhere, they just cut your head off.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a smash, a technique.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why Lucius is a good example of
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's going to be like twenty seven times, but he said, but originally he wasn't originally that was his.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, with them, is they have that aura, they have the aura of Sanesh and which is why they often had in multiple versions now had fights first because you were taken aback by what you perceived as the great beauty and it's whatever beauty.
[SPEAKER_02]: You could just be, I really think that they're amazing in their movements.
[SPEAKER_02]: You could just be a swordsman really saying that I appreciate the movements of that swordsman and then they stab you and you're like, I should probably have been doing less worrying.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that counts really good with that sword.
[SPEAKER_02]: I really appreciate how he stabbed me.
[SPEAKER_02]: I should have definitely did something to defend myself versus that excellent movie was doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: One area I want to kind of spend the time on after this is we talk about like notable demons of the gods.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's got some unique ones and they all have some story, but Slenech has one that's actually really insidious and it's because we're about to talk about Slenech in the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's not going to be shellaxy, just cutting people in half.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: If shellax, you're going to bunch of me like, okay, that's a story, but it's just it's kind of a story that is
[SPEAKER_01]: a extension of slenash that I kind of like the blood there since you can't go around that but I like doing some stories here about ones that are meant that really are kind of like like the changeling or actually or the blue scrubs they're kind of a way of more almost more of a left turn within it with the lady of the voids are terrifying yes with the lady of the voids are slenash it's special demon
[SPEAKER_01]: and it prays specifically on astronauts.
[SPEAKER_01]: Astropaths are the members of the imperium that actually communicate.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're on a ship or you're on a plan or anywhere, you want the imperium to try to communicate with as giant network, the only way to do it is to send messages through the warp to each other.
[SPEAKER_02]: Which are almost instantaneous, but can be forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, these the astronauts and we're
[SPEAKER_01]: spoiler, our next cast we're talking about these guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going to dive too much into it guys, but this is what it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: The astronauts are specifically adjusted by the Imperium to make them more with us in the chaos, the lady of the voids, actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: hunts them down and gets into them.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you, he's a siren basically.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's good punks.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then what happens later was target the astropaths and they find a way into them.
[SPEAKER_01]: When they do the astropath, if they can get in will explode and the demon pops out.
[SPEAKER_01]: killing anything and everything around the astrapath and bringing more demons in.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this matters a lot because oddly enough, one of the least protected parts of space of the imperium ships are the bridges because they're so heavily fortified with geller fields and you
[SPEAKER_01]: And fortifications are random.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the, you know, as, um, and who played mass effect knows, you don't need windows on spaceships.
[SPEAKER_01]: So these are all some, not actually in the front of the ship.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're actually surrounded by, you know, entryways.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not easy to get to the bridge.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you blow up inside of the bridge and make your invasion from inside the bridge, it's significantly worse.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a really good ad.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's terrifying for the Imperium, because even if, don't forget, let's just say best case scenario.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got some space Marines on the bridge with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Your astropathics explodes as a demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, you kill it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But now you have no astropaths.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could look and know, yeah, you can't tell anyone where you are, you can't tell anyone what happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: You now have to jump out of a system in the somewhere, maybe your navigator survived, maybe, but it's actually is one of, you can, it's, I laugh, you could, you could take out the work drive on the ship and the ship's fine that they'll call for backup, whatever backup comes.
[SPEAKER_01]: You take this out, no one knows.
[SPEAKER_02]: And slush has one of my other favorite demons, which is the epitome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I forgot what they put in me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the anti-psych or psych who just negates other psych, which are the people that are trained specifically to take care of demons.
[SPEAKER_01]: She negates their posture's blank.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're a blank where it's like up blanks, but they're different.
[SPEAKER_02]: She messes with your blank.
[SPEAKER_02]: She messes with the other people that are psyched because she absorbs psychic powers.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you all said and go, wait a second, what's even happening?
[SPEAKER_02]: Are counter to you?
[SPEAKER_02]: I countered your counter.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's what it's that it's the Uno.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Uno reverse, I reverse to reverse.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's got to wish that they should just put in no card in the honor.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that is what she does them.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's yeah, it's a message.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like some of the slash thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what, let's talk about selenish in the period because I think, and I'm gonna keep make people mad that love selenishes their man, God.
[SPEAKER_02]: If selenish was more focused and it's hard to be focused when your whole being is not focused.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because she is frivolous.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's.
[SPEAKER_02]: looking for the best of whatever the thing in front of her is, and then she moves on to the next best of the thing that's in front of her, because she could single handedly as much as zinc is actually has machinations in place.
[SPEAKER_02]: Slush could ruin the Imperium, just doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's that's what I view slimesh is despite being the god of perfection.
[SPEAKER_01]: She seems to have a lot of eighty-day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because it was like, oh, this was for a little bit.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, you could just be I took all of your best people in charge of
[SPEAKER_02]: Diaspora pass and charge of logistics and charge of making new takes.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost more in says that she did make it so that you could never, it's almost like idiocracy.
[SPEAKER_01]: She did make it so that no one is ever good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because in the second that they begin to excel in this.
[SPEAKER_02]: It begins hers.
[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes hers.
[SPEAKER_01]: But she doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but she doesn't, which is
[SPEAKER_02]: She just kind of picks and chooses things that she's interested in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it feels that my feeling on that didn't write it, but it's still my feeling.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that Slinesh really cares less about that and more about the praise to Slinesh?
[SPEAKER_01]: anyone that's wants to reach out the slenash and give her praise or give her, you know, their soul, she wants.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so she's just not a strategic in her fingers, where Zeech is very strategic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Zeech only wants the best psychers, only wants the most powerful nobles, only wants that even court.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you want some in specific places, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Sloan Ash is just, if you're in a high city and you're just begging for, you know, hey, I wrote the world to worst court, but I'd like it to be better.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sloan Ash actually might listen and then come give you a boon to give you a thing because she just enjoys the process.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem for the Imperium, though, is that man, it's a nightmare.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Imperium of mankind is just at its core, a nightmare zone, and Slinesh is everywhere for this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem with it being a nightmare zone is to what Brad was just saying, is that the Imperium themselves have to create Slineshian things.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in order to distract the purpose from how horrible it is,
[SPEAKER_01]: We need music.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need art.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need all these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as you're encouraging, more able to make these arts, these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when I'm going to get into the pleasure worlds right now, you're just creating slun-esh worlds.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this just leads to one thing after another.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so slun-esh is able to affect both the lower classes, the upper classes, the working classes.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, is that you think about, you're like, hey, even the worlds that don't have our, you know, high worlds might not have anything.
[SPEAKER_02]: But the problem is, is that the easiest to get, people are so nice, because so nice, often again.
[SPEAKER_02]: give you a little bit of a pose.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll give you a little bit of not suck in your day.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other one too is slenish as we talk with the emperor's children does a really good job with soldiery, which is something that nirgled doesn't, and even zinch doesn't, corn obviously does, but again, why those two hate each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're in an infantrymen, you're a artillerymen, you're even a space marine, and you're just trying to be the best.
[SPEAKER_01]: helps unless my show ash and corn are both right there with you the whole time offering to make you a better source than a better sniper, a better whatever it is and goodbye everybody when like your best sniper is actually on the last one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then you get shot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I see like this is going to work out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, but think from there that's probably a good enough dive into these gods episode, but quite long.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's twice until they have sudden break guys, especially how long we've been casting for him.
[SPEAKER_01]: But from the, I think, we're going to conclude our coverage of the cascades.
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you guys enjoyed these deep dives.
[SPEAKER_01]: We did not cover malal.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason we're going to cover that probably in a future cast on some fan's fiction around what malal really is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, cough cough the ember in my opinion, but because malal existed for a while, then disappeared.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're also going to probably do a really big deep dive on the towel.
[SPEAKER_02]: Kaskad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Kaskad of towel of no one cares about you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just had to throw them out there because I knew that you had enough towel.
[SPEAKER_02]: You haven't kicked out enough in this episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kicking space.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're imposing for all of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's my new.
[SPEAKER_02]: The net upsets me so much more than you kicking down.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our next cast, we're going to dive into the cycles of the Imperium, namely, where are they are?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you feel like there's there were a lot of them, and then these ships showed up, and then they were all gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many less.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Might have something to do with a certain golden throne, a certain corpse emperor, a certain color of ship that shows you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as always, please like and subscribe to the cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, set a force.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, join the discord and interact with the community so you can help us out.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have questions, great place to ask.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have requests for upcoming cast, great place to ask.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, really impressive place to tell us when we get something wrong because you'll hear, you'll see what we're spawned pretty quickly with, yeah, my battle fix it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: But with that, this is John Barsati and Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_01]: See you guys next week.
