<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody who opened to Games Mornings with Me Mike Manatti, <v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. <v Speaker 2>Thank you for tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be. <v Speaker 1>Talking about Star Fucks has returned and the best reviewed <v Speaker 1>game of the year is what gonna be a good <v Speaker 1>one because we have Jane Chow on the show. <v Speaker 3>Jen, how you doing, I'm uh yeah, could could be better, <v Speaker 3>could definitely be better. I caught up on some sleep yesterday, <v Speaker 3>so that's fine. How are you, Mikey? <v Speaker 1>You're just mad that it's only grubs transformer that blew up. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm doing okay. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Grubs having a little bit of an energy problem. <v Speaker 2>At the moment. <v Speaker 3>Power is out, so so Mikey and I have seized <v Speaker 3>all of the power. We're doing the show now. <v Speaker 2>That's right. <v Speaker 1>I'm doing the run in everybody boy. Kind of a <v Speaker 1>fun news day. Honestly, it was a good day to <v Speaker 1>do the show. He's missing out all sorts of fun <v Speaker 1>things here. I talked about yeh, star FUCKX, these reviews, <v Speaker 1>Big Civilization, to Update, Bioshot, pragmat We got all sorts <v Speaker 1>of fun topics. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm looking forward. <v Speaker 3>To for sure. <v Speaker 1>I am embarrassed because I know I have a reputation <v Speaker 1>as the guy he's not up early, and today I <v Speaker 1>just definitely wasn't up early, didn't have the best sleep, <v Speaker 1>and I'm like, that's okay. <v Speaker 2>I don't have anything tomorrow until a little bit later <v Speaker 2>in the day. <v Speaker 1>But of course, like as soon as I'm roused, it's like, oh, Mike, <v Speaker 1>can you step in for two hours ago? <v Speaker 3>Like, shit, yes I can, I can. I'll do that. <v Speaker 1>Please, I'm a good worker, Please please please don't let <v Speaker 1>this stigma fall me forever. <v Speaker 3>It's It's okay, Mikey. I I had a feeling that <v Speaker 3>the same exact thing would happen, so I didn't doubt you. <v Speaker 3>That's why I didn't chime in about it or say <v Speaker 3>that Mikey's make a poorly poor joke about you sleeping in, <v Speaker 3>because I knew Mike Noddy would make a surprise appearance <v Speaker 3>of running and come in from the top rope. <v Speaker 1>Yes, yesterday was one of my migraine days. I get <v Speaker 1>those every kind of once in a while. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it was. <v Speaker 1>It was annoying, and it's like rough at first and <v Speaker 1>then kind of lingered, but finally got through that. <v Speaker 2>So it's like a really long. <v Speaker 3>Week hasn't it. <v Speaker 2>I mean, I'm sure for. <v Speaker 3>You, yes, no, Yeah. I had one of those when <v Speaker 3>you wake up from a nap you're kind of like <v Speaker 3>startled as to what day it is and what time, <v Speaker 3>and then I realized, Oh, it's only it's only Wednesday today, <v Speaker 3>It's Thursday tomorrow, and like that, it was a good <v Speaker 3>feeling that, oh it's just Thursday tomorrow. <v Speaker 1>Right, Well, let's get through this week some more. Why <v Speaker 1>don't we just start getting into it here. We're already <v Speaker 1>starting a little bit late because of the handoffs, so <v Speaker 1>appreciate everybody hanging and with us. At at one point the <v Speaker 1>show is canceled, and then it was back Game Mass <v Speaker 1>Mornings too. Devin's back, Jack Jack, a guy with star <v Speaker 1>Fox's first now, because I would have just been like. <v Speaker 3>You know what else is back? <v Speaker 1>But we're not talking about Starbucks that because first we <v Speaker 1>are going to talk about mixtape Heymember, Remember mixtape I do. <v Speaker 3>I enjoyed when we saw that game, there was like <v Speaker 3>a tongue of a Frenching mini game in that. If <v Speaker 3>I believe correctly, Mike, I'll fix my camera. Don't worry, <v Speaker 3>You're all good. <v Speaker 1>So if people don't remember this, is that kind of <v Speaker 1>a it's a ANAPNA joint publishing it, and it's just <v Speaker 1>kind of this like game about like teenagers and I <v Speaker 1>believe the nineties and kind of that experience, and there's <v Speaker 1>a lot of mini games and it's kind of you know, <v Speaker 1>it's just a little floaty and kind of having fun <v Speaker 1>with it. Right, Yeah, it looks nice. We all thought <v Speaker 1>that the game looked neat at last. SGF reviews are <v Speaker 1>out very very high. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, ninety four. <v Speaker 1>Now this is just based off of twenty reviews, which <v Speaker 1>is a little bit on like the smart size in terms. <v Speaker 2>Of a pool of reviews. <v Speaker 1>So who knows, maybe this will change once the game's <v Speaker 1>out where people review it. But a ninety four, if <v Speaker 1>some of else game holds on to a ninety four, <v Speaker 1>those are the kind of average reviews that the best <v Speaker 1>games ever gets, right, things like that, So that is <v Speaker 1>pretty wild. Let's read some of these on the six <v Speaker 1>Axis six Access Dominic. Layton gave it ten out ten, <v Speaker 1>says Mixtape is incredible an indie narrative adventure. It's part game, <v Speaker 1>part movie, part album. It captures the end of teenage life, <v Speaker 1>of friendship and family, all while looking to the possibilities <v Speaker 1>and unknowable potential of the future. It is, in a <v Speaker 1>word essential. Jordan Midler VGC give it five stars out <v Speaker 1>of five. To be clear, it says Mixtape is a <v Speaker 1>tribute to the best years of your life. In quotations, <v Speaker 1>it combines stop that Phone. It combines authentic nostalgia for <v Speaker 1>being young with the witty commentary on how life doesn't <v Speaker 1>actually end just because you didn't have a Hollywood style. <v Speaker 2>Last night in Town gives you some music. <v Speaker 1>It's pitch perfect and heavily contributes to Mixtape being one <v Speaker 1>of the best coming of age games of the modern era. <v Speaker 1>Liam krofted that Pushquare gave it up only a nine <v Speaker 1>out of ten, saying, through utterly superb set pieces, gorgeous <v Speaker 1>visual design, and an impactful soundtrack, Mixtape crafts one of <v Speaker 1>the most meaningful story games in a long time. Betiful <v Speaker 1>to look at, they to listen to, and so enjoyable <v Speaker 1>to play altogether, Mixtape is a tensational achievement. I mean, Jane, <v Speaker 1>I was definitely, you know, intrigued by this game and <v Speaker 1>kind of the buzz that you and Backlar had about <v Speaker 1>it from SGF and now I'm like I guess, I <v Speaker 1>guess I really have to play this thing. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I maybe had misaligned it a little bit that <v Speaker 3>it was something similar to the Life Is Strange games, <v Speaker 3>and the Life Is Strange games can get a little <v Speaker 3>heavy for me. I understand that they're great games, but <v Speaker 3>these mixtape reviews are making it seem like this is <v Speaker 3>kind of like a lighthearted eighties and nineties style movie romp, <v Speaker 3>and I could get into one of those. I think <v Speaker 3>I saw someone on Blue Sky posting that it's roughly <v Speaker 3>around like three to four hours, so it's not something <v Speaker 3>that feels like it overstays. It's welcome, and I enjoyed <v Speaker 3>the art style from when we checked it out at SGF. <v Speaker 3>I do see a little bit of the discourse right <v Speaker 3>now hovering around this and perhaps, like movies and other games, <v Speaker 3>kind of relying too much on a needle drop to <v Speaker 3>really hammer in like an impactful moment. And I don't <v Speaker 3>really like mind a good needle drop, especially when it <v Speaker 3>feels like it's focused on a game around music, which <v Speaker 3>it's called called mixtape, so you would assume like music <v Speaker 3>is has a heavy presence throughout this game. So excited <v Speaker 3>to eventually check it out for sure. <v Speaker 1>And this game is also doing right like that that <v Speaker 1>that into the spider verse, kind of a slower brain <v Speaker 1>rate thing that just usually looks pretty good lately. I <v Speaker 1>know it's almost a bit of a trend, but every <v Speaker 1>time I see that the statac, I'm like, that's pretty neat. <v Speaker 3>That looks nice. It looks like Pete Xen in the <v Speaker 3>chat is saying. There's no streamer mode in the game, <v Speaker 3>so if there's anyone out there looking to stream the game, <v Speaker 3>just be wary. Depending on what the platform you choose <v Speaker 3>to stream it on, that you could get clapped for <v Speaker 3>copyright stuff. <v Speaker 2>I mean kind of get that. <v Speaker 1>For a game like this where the music is so important, <v Speaker 1>kind of, you know, it takes a lot of work <v Speaker 1>to do a streamer mode, So I don't know, bush <v Speaker 1>we kind of that's a whole other conversation about that things. <v Speaker 1>Where as a streamer myself, I kind of get frustrated <v Speaker 1>with some of that stuff, and I kind of understand, <v Speaker 1>but it's also like a man, I'm just trying to <v Speaker 1>play your game on thing. I don't know, that's complicated. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>but boy, I can't imagine re Lea singing a game <v Speaker 1>and waking up and seeing that your Open Critic score <v Speaker 1>is a ninety four huge, then that is that is huge. <v Speaker 3>Now I'm curious. <v Speaker 1>It almost feels like it's going to probably drop a <v Speaker 1>bit from here. That's going to be really hard to <v Speaker 1>maintain because you are at a point now where nine <v Speaker 1>out of tens technically brings your Open Critic average down <v Speaker 1>a little bit. But still if they you know, anything <v Speaker 1>above ninety is a really huge, big deal, and that <v Speaker 1>we're talking about, Oh, that's going to just help you know. <v Speaker 2>Sometimes we're like, oh, the reviews matter. I feel like, <v Speaker 2>if you're. <v Speaker 1>Game is going to do above ninety, that's gotta be <v Speaker 1>doing something for you. It kind of overtakes Pucopia now <v Speaker 1>as the best reviewed game of the year, least according <v Speaker 1>to Open Critic. <v Speaker 3>The interesting thing like is that you just mentioned Pacopia <v Speaker 3>being one of the best, if not formally the best <v Speaker 3>reviewed game this year, but then Mixtape. I think it's <v Speaker 3>very telling that these smaller titles or games that aren't <v Speaker 3>the big trends that are being forced down our throats <v Speaker 3>are the ones being reviewed so well because they're kind <v Speaker 3>of making like a shot in the dark and trying <v Speaker 3>to woo people with perhaps our emotions versus getting us <v Speaker 3>to go on the hamster wheel with our monies. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>that's exactly right. I'm gonna be really curious to bry it. <v Speaker 3>Sometimes I bristle a bet at like games that are like, oh, <v Speaker 3>we're trying to recapture the high school experience. <v Speaker 1>I remember what you we bad came out and like <v Speaker 1>some people are like, oh, this is what high schools <v Speaker 1>like for me, And I was kind of like. <v Speaker 3>I don't know if this is what high school was <v Speaker 3>like for me, And then I'll. <v Speaker 1>Oh, no, yeah, even though when I think about it, <v Speaker 1>I'm like, it's kind of what high school was like <v Speaker 1>for me. So sometimes I got to get over it <v Speaker 1>myself a bed. I'm just gonna tell myself, this is <v Speaker 1>a Saint Elmo's like, oh, okay, going to get me <v Speaker 1>excited spe speaking of Neil drops God, there's a give <v Speaker 1>me Saint Elmo's fire in there, and I'll be pumped. <v Speaker 1>Although again, I think we're going for nineties not necessarily <v Speaker 1>eighties on this one. <v Speaker 3>Right when's mixtape supposed to be? I want to say <v Speaker 3>it was eighties, but I could also be wrong. It <v Speaker 3>could be in the cusps Mike. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it could be on the I'm going on the <v Speaker 1>Steam page now, Oh my god, Steam, I promise I'm <v Speaker 1>not I'm not underage. I can look at mixtape. I <v Speaker 1>know people are going to kiss in it. It's gonna <v Speaker 1>be really scary. Got you think I would find that <v Speaker 1>late late nineties, late nineties technically even a little bit <v Speaker 1>before me. I'm a I'm an five high school graduate myself. <v Speaker 3>That's when I started high school. Mikey, we would have <v Speaker 3>been ships in two ships passing in the nine. <v Speaker 1>I'm young like you, we would have been in high school. <v Speaker 1>You would not have been in high school with Jeff Grubb. <v Speaker 3>No, no, because he got kicked. <v Speaker 1>Out right, Yes, exactly. Stop putting me in that bucket. <v Speaker 1>I'm in the young people bucket with jan Everybody, Come on, <v Speaker 1>that's right. <v Speaker 3>But Mike, I'm quickly also becoming old. Yeah, weird how <v Speaker 3>that happens. <v Speaker 2>We're all getting older all the time. <v Speaker 3>All right, mixtape looking good, Mike, do you? Yeah? Potentially <v Speaker 3>see this maybe being this year's dispatch where a game <v Speaker 3>will become like a little indie darling and blow up <v Speaker 3>and like pull out everyone's heart strings that this makes <v Speaker 3>them the feelings are enough to carry it over to <v Speaker 3>game of the year season, you know. <v Speaker 1>There's still some questions of you know, how are people <v Speaker 1>gonna feel, But and the game is also, you know, <v Speaker 1>out now, so people are going to be buying it <v Speaker 1>and kind of see on their own what they think <v Speaker 1>about it. <v Speaker 3>Hard to say. <v Speaker 1>Dispatch also had really good timing on its side. It <v Speaker 1>kind of shime out, like right towards the end of <v Speaker 1>the year, and maybe the whole kind of superhero thing <v Speaker 1>was a bit has a bit more mass appeal than this. <v Speaker 2>I'm not sure, but yeah, obviously. <v Speaker 1>If your game opens with this kind of critic review score, <v Speaker 1>your possibilities at least for awards and things like that <v Speaker 1>are big in terms of finding that giant, bigger audience. <v Speaker 1>We'll see you think that reviews like that will help <v Speaker 1>a bet. <v Speaker 3>But you know, sometimes I'll. <v Speaker 1>Look at kind of year around what was the best <v Speaker 1>reviewed game of the year, And I'll see some games <v Speaker 1>in there with nineties and I'll be like, what is that? <v Speaker 3>Right? So some crazy things do pass us by a <v Speaker 3>little bit. Yeah, like Monster Hunters Stories. <v Speaker 2>Three, one hundred stories. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, it's a highly reviewed game from this year. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>this year, and within our team it hasn't had much <v Speaker 3>traction despite you and I I believe saying like, oh, <v Speaker 3>we should check that out eventually. <v Speaker 1>Right, but you know, like and I kind of feel bad, <v Speaker 1>but like last year, like staying on some Blake Manner <v Speaker 1>came out with a ninety one average when it was <v Speaker 1>all said in Doug came out in October. Yeah, and <v Speaker 1>I definitely hear good things about that game, and I <v Speaker 1>feel bad not playing it, But it certainly didn't get <v Speaker 1>a huge rub in the style that a dispatch did, right, <v Speaker 1>So stuff like that. <v Speaker 3>All right, uh, Starfucks returns. <v Speaker 1>Hey, we were all following that rumor from Nate de <v Speaker 1>Hate for a while that new Star Fucks game was <v Speaker 1>coming out. Ritually, he thought that it would be revealed <v Speaker 1>during April. April came and went, Someone's like, where's Star Fucks. <v Speaker 1>Well here it is just randomly. Nintendo was like, hey, <v Speaker 1>two different the Star Fucks directs starting in ten minutes. <v Speaker 1>Everybody like, what, oh great, well we can't cover that now, <v Speaker 1>thanks Nintendo. <v Speaker 3>And yeah, they just did a little mini. <v Speaker 1>Directs all about Starfucks and this new game which is <v Speaker 1>just called Starfox and it's coming out from the Nintendo <v Speaker 1>Switch to on June twenty fifth. Okay, now the game's <v Speaker 1>just called Star Fox. Well, what is this? This is <v Speaker 1>a remake of Star Fucks sixty four, which itself was <v Speaker 1>kind of a remake of the original Star Fox from <v Speaker 1>Mike nineteen ninety three. Also, the original Star Fox also <v Speaker 1>got that sort of kind of remake with Star Fux <v Speaker 1>zero on the WU. And also Starfux sixty four has <v Speaker 1>been remade before on the Nintendo three DS as Star <v Speaker 1>Fox three D. <v Speaker 3>You got that? Yep? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, According to the direct and this is from Andy <v Speaker 1>Robbinson to VDC, we're pulling this stuff from While stage <v Speaker 1>layouts have been kept the same as the n sixty <v Speaker 1>four game, visuals have received a complete over Paul. There's <v Speaker 1>there's a new art style for the characters in this <v Speaker 1>one that is definitely looking to be more realistic. They <v Speaker 1>look a bit more like they're like the animals. There <v Speaker 1>reprie Zenning Falco Fox, bit Clouds, slippy and peppy hair. <v Speaker 1>To me, it looks a little bit like the old <v Speaker 1>uh kind of box art Fox on the any s. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>the designs are a little controversial. <v Speaker 2>What do you think of them? <v Speaker 3>Jan So, I skipped around the direct a bit, and <v Speaker 3>I think the rabbit is named Peppy right, that's Peppy Harriet. <v Speaker 3>Peppy Falco is the Falcon. I think those two look good. <v Speaker 3>I'm not super duper sold on Fox or Slippy. I <v Speaker 3>love a good video game frog, and I understand frogs <v Speaker 3>are slimy and and what doesn't mean that, uh, you <v Speaker 3>make Slippy not cute anymore. I think people will eventually <v Speaker 3>get used to these designs. I think it is just <v Speaker 3>the initial shock factor. I don't think they're as bad <v Speaker 3>as Ugly Sonic. I think they're fine. <v Speaker 2>I like them. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I think that again, maybe it's just nostalgia, because it <v Speaker 1>does remind me the s A S box are. <v Speaker 3>I think it's neat. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I think it's a fun direction. Especially they look really <v Speaker 1>good when you're playing the game. You see them and <v Speaker 1>like you're kind of a communicator. Yeah, ring on the <v Speaker 1>bottom with the lower frame rate, I'm like, oh, yeah, <v Speaker 1>that looks great. <v Speaker 3>I saw like a different renders that got that Nintendo <v Speaker 3>made and put out that were just like static images, <v Speaker 3>and the models look fine there, at least the character models. <v Speaker 3>It's just when they're in motion that I'm kind of like, Okay, <v Speaker 3>but you're right though, Mike, like a good. From my understanding, <v Speaker 3>A good chunk of communication in this game is done <v Speaker 3>through the little character portraits, So I think I think <v Speaker 3>we'll be fine, right. <v Speaker 1>I mean, in the original Star Fox sixty four pretty much, ah, <v Speaker 1>the communication was like that. One of the things this <v Speaker 1>game is adding is more cut scenes, and we kind <v Speaker 1>of saw that more cinematic mission briefing, so there's gonna <v Speaker 1>be some more characterization things like that. The kind of <v Speaker 1>other point of contention, Jan is that people are excited <v Speaker 1>Starfox is back. For a lot of people, doing another <v Speaker 1>Star Fox sixty four retread or another even original Star <v Speaker 1>Fux retread is maybe a bit disappointing. And I do <v Speaker 1>get that it is certainly the least ambitious thing they <v Speaker 1>could have possibly done in terms of making a quote <v Speaker 1>new Star Fox game, and I understand their desire to <v Speaker 1>go back to basics. Every time they have tried to <v Speaker 1>do something a bit different, like Starfox Adventure, Star Fox Assault, <v Speaker 1>even Starfux zero, mostly it's been rejected. Now, you know, <v Speaker 1>maybe that's more on them than the audience for rejecting <v Speaker 1>those things that they are aren't appealing enough. Thill, though, <v Speaker 1>you could just make a game that plays like Star <v Speaker 1>Fox sixty four without necessarily having to remake star Fox <v Speaker 1>sixty four again. On the other hand, I like Star <v Speaker 1>Fox sixty four a lot, so I'll be pratty happy <v Speaker 1>to jump in here anyways. <v Speaker 3>I don't know, know, how do you feel? What is your <v Speaker 3>Are you much of a STARFUCKX face? No? Not. I <v Speaker 3>always thought star Fox was cool, especially seeing him get <v Speaker 3>played in Super Smash Brothers, but I've never really checked <v Speaker 3>out the games at all. It's been when these rumors <v Speaker 3>started circulating around, I thought like, oh, I'll hold off <v Speaker 3>on actually dipping my toes into the Star Fox universe, <v Speaker 3>and I'm still interested in checking this out. I don't know, Mike, <v Speaker 3>do you think this is something that Nintendo's going to <v Speaker 3>try and eventually build off of now that they kind <v Speaker 3>of got all the tools in place. Do you think <v Speaker 3>they're waiting on like reception of how this will be <v Speaker 3>or do you think this would just kind of be <v Speaker 3>like a one time thing. <v Speaker 1>I think this is a little bit perhaps of testing <v Speaker 1>the waters, right, this is the safe game that you make, <v Speaker 1>and then if this does well, you can do something <v Speaker 1>like a star Fuck sixty four to two or whatever <v Speaker 1>they want to call it, where Yeah, let's make a <v Speaker 1>game that plays like that, but it's new, it's a <v Speaker 1>bit different. Maybe we'll bring back Crystal so Sean can <v Speaker 1>sleep at night once again. <v Speaker 3>Things like that. <v Speaker 1>Now, you know, there's a bit more here than just <v Speaker 1>porting that original campaign over. There's going to be a <v Speaker 1>challenge mode where you can replace stages with some new <v Speaker 1>objectives and challenges. The battle mod was in the original, <v Speaker 1>but it seems to be expanded here. Team star Fox <v Speaker 1>Steam Team star Wolf. Gonna be even online matchmaking, which <v Speaker 1>is wild as some kind of fun stuff with the <v Speaker 1>game chat thing where oh the cool to match yourselves <v Speaker 1>to one of the characters. You can have your your furry, <v Speaker 1>your first sona right. That actually kind of looks really <v Speaker 1>funny to me, And I can't wait for us to <v Speaker 1>just all be members of the star Fucks crew and <v Speaker 1>have the motion capturing us. That will look fun. There's <v Speaker 1>gonna be mouse controls for single player or for a <v Speaker 1>co op mode where one player is flying the R <v Speaker 1>wing and another player is using the gun. <v Speaker 3>So some fun stuff. Yeah. I'm just scrolling through the <v Speaker 3>direct now and seeing this v tuber stuff and it's hilarious. <v Speaker 3>It's so stupid. Yeah, it's fun. Jeff Grubbin chat says, <v Speaker 3>this is definitely just breaking the seal. There will be <v Speaker 3>more Star Fucks game soon. You heard him, every Budy <v Speaker 3>Is that a threat? <v Speaker 1>Jeff Grubber Fotto and confidence go to our gaming leagues. <v Speaker 1>Though that's not Jeff's saying anything from a source that is. <v Speaker 3>I'm scrolling through again and like, I don't know, these <v Speaker 3>designs are kind of like growing on me. I think <v Speaker 3>Wolf is that his name? <v Speaker 1>It's just Wolf, Yes, star Wolf, Yes, Yes, there's been Pigma. <v Speaker 3>It's shocking because it is. <v Speaker 1>It is pretty different, especially when you know we just <v Speaker 1>had Fox Maclouds show up in the Mario Galaxy movie <v Speaker 1>and there he's maybe had his most kind of cartoony <v Speaker 1>look ever, which makes sense. He's in an illumination movie, <v Speaker 1>so that's like one end of the spectrum, and this <v Speaker 1>is the complete opposite in terms of it's like. <v Speaker 3>An actual Fox as a pilot. <v Speaker 1>So I understand the kind of shock of seeing this <v Speaker 1>design when maybe they thought they were going to lean <v Speaker 1>more heavily into what they have done in that new movie. <v Speaker 3>I'm also kind of a mark. I think I don't <v Speaker 3>want to admit this as much as I actually feel, <v Speaker 3>but I kind of like Zootopia, Mikey, I kind of <v Speaker 3>like when animals have jobs. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, there's this <v Speaker 3>I don't I don't know who this guy is because <v Speaker 3>I'm not super familiar with the series, but he's like <v Speaker 3>a labrador and he's got like a general outfit on <v Speaker 3>and he showed cut. <v Speaker 1>It's also of fun people who show up again, like <v Speaker 1>I kind of forgot, like Bill showed up in the trail, Like, ah, Bill, <v Speaker 1>I remember that guy who showed up for just one mission. <v Speaker 1>There's also kind of more of a intro sequence where <v Speaker 1>we see Fox's father and kind of the backstory there. <v Speaker 1>Now there's a part of me that wonders, you know, <v Speaker 1>there's extra stuff here for sure. <v Speaker 3>Sure Star Fux. <v Speaker 1>Sixty four if you just like think of it as <v Speaker 1>a game you play from start to finish that could. <v Speaker 3>Happen in an hour they play. <v Speaker 1>Value comes because there are these split roots and you're <v Speaker 1>supposed to sort of learn these and try all them, <v Speaker 1>and like the harder route takes longer, and there's kind <v Speaker 1>of extra stuff at the end. Things like that. I <v Speaker 1>do wonder if perhaps a modern gamer is going to <v Speaker 1>kind of play through the game once though, and be like, <v Speaker 1>that's it sure, necessarily maybe understand the inherent replay value, <v Speaker 1>right it all that kind of takes us to the <v Speaker 1>next already here because you know, they talked about pricing <v Speaker 1>split for games whole Nintendo real quick. <v Speaker 3>Mikey, sorry to interrupt you. His name is General Pepper, <v Speaker 3>General Pepper. Yeah, what a good boy. <v Speaker 2>Oh we like General Pepper. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, so precious. Sorry there, fine, you're fined. <v Speaker 1>Uh And yeah, Starfucks is cheaper digitally than physically everybody. <v Speaker 1>In fact, the digital version of Starfox did it costs <v Speaker 1>fifty dollars physical sixty dollars. <v Speaker 3>This is going. <v Speaker 1>This is the second of game following this new policy, <v Speaker 1>after Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is coming out <v Speaker 1>this month. So yeah, ten dollars cheaper digital. That seems <v Speaker 1>to be what they are doing now. I will say, like, <v Speaker 1>you know, and it's like, well, what was the original price? <v Speaker 1>Is this a ten dollars discount for digital or a <v Speaker 1>ten dollars physical tax I feel like, just off of <v Speaker 1>this being a remake of Star Fucks, which sixty four <v Speaker 1>a game I love, but a game that these days <v Speaker 1>I think people would say does not have a ton <v Speaker 1>of content. I feel like fifty dollars is probably the <v Speaker 1>real price for this thing. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I you know, I'm I'm a little bit lost <v Speaker 3>on this one, Mikey, just because I never played Star <v Speaker 3>Fox sixty four. So I know a lot of people <v Speaker 3>are complaining or have the thought that this is just <v Speaker 3>yet another remake of star Fox sixty four. But there <v Speaker 3>are probably a bunch of people that are in boats <v Speaker 3>like mine where this is. This could very well be <v Speaker 3>our first foray into the franchise. The Mario movie has <v Speaker 3>got to help a ton with generating interest in Star Fox. <v Speaker 3>So I think the price is okay for this. I <v Speaker 3>am starting to feel the physical tax more though, for <v Speaker 3>as as we move on or as we go on <v Speaker 3>and physical games continuing to still be the price that they're. <v Speaker 1>At, right Yeah, And I mean I understand and kind <v Speaker 1>of respect people who are physical hardliners now, but it's <v Speaker 1>so hard for me janing with new games. <v Speaker 2>Right. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, the digital is more convenient and now it's cheaper, <v Speaker 1>it's and I. <v Speaker 3>Get they're doing it. <v Speaker 2>They're kind of doing it for that reason. <v Speaker 1>They want us to buy digital, right they don't want <v Speaker 1>to have to split sales with Best Buy or Walmart <v Speaker 1>or things like that I understand why it is happening, <v Speaker 1>why it feels like a tax, and I get that <v Speaker 1>when I buy a digital game, I'm buying a license <v Speaker 1>work game. In a lot of plays, I don't own <v Speaker 1>that game, and yet I do it. Anyways, Yeah, for <v Speaker 1>for me, Mike, like a lot of the games that <v Speaker 1>I would entertain the idea of wanting to get a <v Speaker 1>physical addition of, or like smaller indie games that may <v Speaker 1>not get a physical release until months, if not a <v Speaker 1>year later, and some of them wind up. <v Speaker 3>At being PC only, so sometimes so I'm kind of <v Speaker 3>out of luck with that, if anything. Sometimes I'll buy <v Speaker 3>a print of a game just to kind of like <v Speaker 3>commemorate and then like, okay, cool, bookmark a game of like, ah, <v Speaker 3>this means a lot to me, or this meant a <v Speaker 3>lot to me. Here it is on my wall. Yeah, yeah, exactly. <v Speaker 1>I think the last time I really bothered buying a <v Speaker 1>physical switch game was Metro Primary Master, just because one <v Speaker 1>it was pretty cheap, it was only forty bucks. I <v Speaker 1>just like that game a lot, and I was like, <v Speaker 1>I just kind of want to have this thing physical <v Speaker 1>because I don't know it's important to me, but otherwise, <v Speaker 1>especially you know, we get codes a lot anyway, so <v Speaker 1>that kind of weaned me off physical itself is just I. <v Speaker 3>Got all these codes. <v Speaker 1>It turns out I am building a digital library, so <v Speaker 1>mm hmm. <v Speaker 3>That sort of happens up. <v Speaker 1>The other kind of fun wrinkle about all this Starfucks stuff, Jan, <v Speaker 1>is that you know, part of Nathan Hate's initial rumor, <v Speaker 1>which you know not so much rumor anymore, is that, yeah, <v Speaker 1>they're making a new Starfucks game and a remake Operina <v Speaker 1>of Time. <v Speaker 3>Well, sure seems like that Opera of Time remake is real. <v Speaker 1>That is something I am going to expect to be <v Speaker 1>announced probably at some point this summer. Nintendo has been <v Speaker 1>doing a lot of just announcements separate from some big <v Speaker 1>general Nintendo direct and yet at some point there has <v Speaker 1>to be one of those, and when that happens, I <v Speaker 1>am fully expecting to see ak Arena of Time. Jan, <v Speaker 1>is that something you're excited about? What do you want <v Speaker 1>to see in an Operama Time remake? <v Speaker 3>Again, Mike, this is another title that I completely missed. <v Speaker 3>Just wasn't an N sixty four kid growing up, so <v Speaker 3>I don't know. I do have the fear mic and <v Speaker 3>you implanted this into me on the BombCast two days ago. <v Speaker 3>What if I become one of those people that doesn't <v Speaker 3>like Okerina of Time. <v Speaker 1>Right, I told you I would not respect you anymore <v Speaker 1>if that happens. Yes, I understand your fear. It's very <v Speaker 1>well founded. <v Speaker 3>My question for you, though, Mike, is, but as yours, <v Speaker 3>I am excited. I would like to check this out. <v Speaker 3>I know that there are other means of checking out <v Speaker 3>Okerina of Time now, but if there's something that is <v Speaker 3>more streamlined and I can do on my switch to <v Speaker 3>very easily, I will one hundred percent be fine with that. <v Speaker 3>My question, Mike is, after seeing the kind of surprise <v Speaker 3>with the art style reveal with Star Fox, do you <v Speaker 3>think Nintendo's gonna pursue a specific direction? Do you think <v Speaker 3>they're gonna go for like the Tears of the Kingdom <v Speaker 3>Breath of the Wild look maybe, uh, just like a <v Speaker 3>kind of sanded off edges look of the original Okerina <v Speaker 3>of Time, or they're gonna do something completely crazy town bananas. Yes, <v Speaker 3>I bet they. <v Speaker 1>Won't be quite as willing to go crazy town bananas <v Speaker 1>with Zelda necessarily or Okera at Time necessarily. Obviously they <v Speaker 1>have with Zeldo before, with things like Gwin Waker. We've <v Speaker 1>had the diorama look and the links Awakening a ring <v Speaker 1>make Okera at time. I almost expect them to play <v Speaker 1>it a bit more safe. Yeah, it's Nintendo, though, there <v Speaker 1>weird company. <v Speaker 2>They do all sorts of things. <v Speaker 1>I guess I want something that looks striking but still <v Speaker 1>somehow kind of replicates the way the n sixty four <v Speaker 1>game looks that. It kind of has a chunkiness to it. <v Speaker 1>I suppose. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. It's it's gonna be. <v Speaker 1>A hard thing to translate, and I'm super curious what <v Speaker 1>that is going to look like. I also wonder, like, <v Speaker 1>how far of a remake is it going to be? <v Speaker 1>Is it going to like this starfucks saying gameplay wise <v Speaker 1>and level with design wise be relatively one to one, <v Speaker 1>and the acoutrements kind of come in the presentation factor <v Speaker 1>and like expanded cut scenes things like that, or are <v Speaker 1>they going to try to make the overworld feel bigger? <v Speaker 1>Are they gonna somehow squeeze another dungeon in there or <v Speaker 1>something like that? <v Speaker 3>It's interesting. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, the interesting thing here Starbucks sixty four an ockerha <v Speaker 1>of time we're now I allude to the Star Fox <v Speaker 1>Those games were both remade for the three DS, right, <v Speaker 1>they are kind of just like often the Default and <v Speaker 1>sixty four games to get remade. Mario sixty four had <v Speaker 1>its remake on the Nintendo DS, so it kind of <v Speaker 1>already happened there the idea of Nintendo doing more remix <v Speaker 1>so we've seen it a bit before. We had thousand <v Speaker 1>Year Door Mario RPG get remixed with very recently on <v Speaker 1>the Switch. I do think it's interesting, and I wonder <v Speaker 1>we're going to be seeing a lot more of those. <v Speaker 3>I am sure it correct me if I'm wrong, Mike, <v Speaker 3>But didn't Nintendo miss a fairly big anniversary for Zelda <v Speaker 3>recently like it had been like however many years. <v Speaker 2>It's the fourtieth anniversary right now? <v Speaker 1>Actually, oh okay, they can still tie in yeah, brand time, <v Speaker 1>so do all of that. <v Speaker 3>I would assume that they're going to try and fire <v Speaker 3>off on all cylinders to make sure that this is <v Speaker 3>special for this this remake, I would assume. But Nintendo's <v Speaker 3>Nintendo forever the wild card. <v Speaker 1>I don't know it's gonna be a bigger deal than <v Speaker 1>say this Star Fox announcement is right where again, this <v Speaker 1>is going to be announced this summer is probably gonna <v Speaker 1>be coming out closer to the Hallwaday season will be <v Speaker 1>propped up as one of the major releases for the <v Speaker 1>switch to for the rest of the year. All Right, <v Speaker 1>why don't we take a quick break, Jen, we'll come back. <v Speaker 1>We're gonna talk about some Take two stuff, because they <v Speaker 1>had sort of earnings and they were talking about things <v Speaker 1>and other news. We'll talk about Civilization seven, We'll talk <v Speaker 1>about BioShock. We'll see what else is on the agenda. <v Speaker 1>Take two says Civilization seven got it wrong, but a <v Speaker 1>major update will let players stay one SIV all games. <v Speaker 2>From Andy Robinson veg c SO. <v Speaker 1>This was Take Two's CEO, saying this ahead of a <v Speaker 1>major update that's going to overhaul one the game's most <v Speaker 1>controversial features. Although Civilizations seven appeared to chart strong in <v Speaker 1>the US following its release in February twenty twenty five, <v Speaker 1>Take two said the game got off to a slow start. <v Speaker 1>Engagement currently lags well behind previous entry in the series. <v Speaker 1>Despite mostly favorable reviews from critics, the game is a <v Speaker 1>mixed rating on Steam and an unfavorable user score Metacritic, <v Speaker 1>likely due to its controversial system that requires players to <v Speaker 1>switch civilizations during matches. Speaking to game File Take two <v Speaker 1>interact to CEO Straws, Zeeni said the game's struggles were <v Speaker 1>on him. <v Speaker 2>Here's a quote. <v Speaker 1>Now, every time there's a new Sieve, the team of <v Speaker 1>Faraxis thinks about how do we push the envelope far <v Speaker 1>enough that it makes sense to buy this new game, <v Speaker 1>and how do we preserve what people love enough so <v Speaker 1>that they're not disaffected. And we got it wrong with <v Speaker 1>Sis seven, but it wasn't for one of trying, and <v Speaker 1>again I take responsibility for it. Yeah, it so he <v Speaker 1>made a bunch of fixes. We'll continue to make fixes. <v Speaker 1>Game is a really good game, and it's certainly a <v Speaker 1>profitable enterprise for us. This is one where think that <v Speaker 1>we tried, what we try to do is a bridge <v Speaker 1>too far and the consumer's perspective. The fire Acxist announced <v Speaker 1>an update that will remove the controversial civilization swapping future, <v Speaker 1>finding players to stick to just one for an entire <v Speaker 1>matches in previous games or at leases on May nineteenth. <v Speaker 1>The Test of Time update will also add new triumphs <v Speaker 1>and reworked victory systems, which developer for Access says is <v Speaker 1>based on feedback from players. Dat I've always been a <v Speaker 1>Civilization seven defender. I think that the game is fun. <v Speaker 1>I understand that the whole system this is kind of <v Speaker 1>the tent pole system of the game, where you know, <v Speaker 1>in the past, you pick a civilization like America and <v Speaker 1>your avatar's Abraham Lincoln, and you play the entire game <v Speaker 1>as that six seven. You pick a leader and that <v Speaker 1>leader is always your your person. But then the game <v Speaker 1>kind of has three chapters. In the beginning, you kind <v Speaker 1>of pick like an early history civilization, then you'll switch <v Speaker 1>to something else and kind of depending on some of <v Speaker 1>the things you did in the game or what civilsation <v Speaker 1>you start off, that impacts what civilisation you can play <v Speaker 1>as in the next part, then it happens again. <v Speaker 3>I did not mind s feature as much as our people. <v Speaker 1>I understand why it kind of feels like a core <v Speaker 1>feature of the series that you picked the one civilization <v Speaker 1>go for it. Also understand why it feels weird that <v Speaker 1>you can, you know, do things like, you know, be <v Speaker 1>Catherine the Great, the leader of the Polynesians, things like <v Speaker 1>that when. <v Speaker 3>You get to the end of it. <v Speaker 1>I always thought it was a little bit of an overreaction, <v Speaker 1>and yet this kind of course correction is probably pretty necessary. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, the CIEV games have always been a series mike <v Speaker 3>that feels incredibly intimidating. So perhaps these addition additional features <v Speaker 3>that got added maybe through or kept people at the <v Speaker 3>gates like myself from check it out, and maybe was <v Speaker 3>enough of like an adjustment or update to the formula <v Speaker 3>for other SIEVE players that they just did not jive <v Speaker 3>well with it. <v Speaker 1>I think kind of highlights a weird place where some <v Speaker 1>of these like kind of long term franchises are at <v Speaker 1>where it used to be. Hey, every five years, you <v Speaker 1>make a new entry in your game. Because technology has improved, <v Speaker 1>you can do You could just inherently do new exciting things. <v Speaker 3>The game's going to look better, blah blah blah. <v Speaker 1>So you know, Civilization six came out twenty sixteen, twenty <v Speaker 1>twenty five, it's been nine years. <v Speaker 3>Time for a new Sieve, right. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you actually just aren't inherently gonna make a game <v Speaker 1>that looks better, that can really take advantage of any <v Speaker 1>technology that's going to really change up the four X genre? <v Speaker 1>Do you do kind of have to think about things like, well, <v Speaker 1>what are we gonna do to actually make this game <v Speaker 1>feel different? And you run the risk of that feature <v Speaker 1>changing Civilizations be something the community rejects, then you kind <v Speaker 1>of just have to go and make the game more <v Speaker 1>like Civilization six anyway. So it's a really string struggle. <v Speaker 1>It makes me wonder how long it's going to be <v Speaker 1>before we get a Civilization eight. <v Speaker 2>Right, it could be a decade plus. <v Speaker 3>You know. <v Speaker 1>Again, there's the issue of people don't like this game, <v Speaker 1>they'll just go play Civilization six. <v Speaker 2>It's just sure they can get. <v Speaker 1>We're cheaper and you can get with all of the <v Speaker 1>kind of content that's ever been added to it. Now, <v Speaker 1>Civilization six did kind of go through a similar thing <v Speaker 1>where it first came out, people thought it didn't have <v Speaker 1>enough content, they didn't like the changes, a lot of <v Speaker 1>people were playing Civilization five instead, and then once updates happen, <v Speaker 1>expansions happen, people slowly start adopting Civilization six. And I <v Speaker 1>think that trajectory can still happen with seven. Again, this <v Speaker 1>is an update, but there will be like a big <v Speaker 1>expansion for this thing as well at some point. <v Speaker 3>Hear me out, everyone take two get your checkbooks ready. Now, <v Speaker 3>what if in SIEV when you're perhaps there's a combat <v Speaker 3>situation that you got to enter in in like a <v Speaker 3>little tile or a square of the map. You then <v Speaker 3>zoom in, and then it becomes a little bit like <v Speaker 3>a two D platform or action game where you're a <v Speaker 3>gigantic dude with a sword. I was thinking like an <v Speaker 3>act rasor Delia. Oh dang, So just imagine, you know, <v Speaker 3>historical figures like Benjamin Franklin. I don't know if he's <v Speaker 3>in the game, uh hopping and bopping around with a <v Speaker 3>gigantic sword. <v Speaker 1>Okay, I like it. Actually, although he would have a <v Speaker 1>cane sword, I think even better. <v Speaker 3>I think that seems right, Mike. I think you would <v Speaker 3>have a great cane sord. <v Speaker 1>I you know what, for some reason, we had a <v Speaker 1>cane sword in our house when I was growing up. <v Speaker 1>I think my brother Chris. My brother Chris was really <v Speaker 1>into swords. He had quite a collection of Lord of <v Speaker 1>the Rings replica swords. I'm just gonna say it. And <v Speaker 1>at one point he also bought a cane sword at <v Speaker 1>like some uh kind of sign or whatever place. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>He had a kne sword though, and it was fun <v Speaker 1>to play around with. I thought, really cool. <v Speaker 3>I think I know more about your family than I <v Speaker 3>do my own. Yeah. Look, if you want to be <v Speaker 3>a Minati, I'll get the paperwork going all right, all right, <v Speaker 3>there we go. Thank you, Michael, welcome you in. What <v Speaker 3>you in. <v Speaker 1>My favorite was one time my friends were just kind <v Speaker 1>of like messing with my brother Chris, going around the <v Speaker 1>house tapping on windows and stuff, and Chris uh got <v Speaker 1>kind of scared into defend himself. <v Speaker 2>He went and grabbed in Durall, which is the air reor. <v Speaker 1>Cord sword like went outside with kind of ready to <v Speaker 1>take care of the robbers. <v Speaker 3>As he said, Uh, good stuff, good stuff. <v Speaker 1>All right, Hey, Zonic's back, and uh for the Stex story, <v Speaker 1>he says, Take to wasted a lot of time money <v Speaker 1>on Bioshocked four Dead and Take two interact to CEO Stress, <v Speaker 1>Zonic says he's up. We disappointed the publisher hasn't been <v Speaker 1>able to release a new BioShock game more than a <v Speaker 1>decade after the series last entry. Speaking aga into game File, <v Speaker 1>the exec was asked about the perceived troubles at Canadian <v Speaker 1>studio Cloud Chamber, the company formed to lead development on <v Speaker 1>the next Bioshot game after original creator Rational Games downside <v Speaker 1>following twenty thirteen's infinite. Work on the fourth Bosher game <v Speaker 1>was announced back in twenty nineteen, but nothing has been <v Speaker 1>seen of the project, and last year its developers leadership <v Speaker 1>team was replaced as part of an apparent revamp following <v Speaker 1>a disappointing internal review. DONCS asked if he was surprised, <v Speaker 1>I'd take to you hadn't been able to make a <v Speaker 1>new BioShock since twenty thirteen, despite the popularity and critical <v Speaker 1>acclaim of the series. <v Speaker 2>Here's the quote. <v Speaker 1>Now, think about this, Think about what surprise implies. That's <v Speaker 1>like one day everything's awesome and the next day I'm like, <v Speaker 1>holy shit. I don't run the business that way. But <v Speaker 1>I think if you're saying disappointed, yes, deeply disappointed. Rod <v Speaker 1>fergus Send, the veteran Triple A Games producer worked on Bauschank, <v Speaker 1>Infinite and recently Helm, the Diablo series at Blizzard, was <v Speaker 1>announced as the new head of the BioShock franchise last year. <v Speaker 1>Uh take two boss, deeply disappoint overweight for BioShock in retrospect, <v Speaker 1>we always said a lot of money, So yeah, that <v Speaker 1>is It's interesting. Obviously they've been trying to get this <v Speaker 1>off the ground. A lot of people have been trying <v Speaker 1>to make a new BioShock game, right because the original creator, <v Speaker 1>you know, Ken Levine started his own studio and they <v Speaker 1>are working on that Judas and we've seen Judas here <v Speaker 1>and there things, but it doesn't have a release window <v Speaker 1>or anything god like like that. <v Speaker 3>Right, were people? Did people have Judas appointments during the <v Speaker 3>first SGF Gosh, I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I didn't if that was a thing, I don't know, maybe, <v Speaker 1>but I didn't. I just remember the narrative legos that <v Speaker 1>he keeps talking about things like that, that kind of thing. So, hey, <v Speaker 1>Judas certainly seems further along or more like a real <v Speaker 1>video game than BioShock Board does. <v Speaker 3>I kind of thing is like, what is a BioShock for? <v Speaker 1>Because yeah, Booshock one in two that are similar, they're <v Speaker 1>both in rapture. Then you have three and it's like, <v Speaker 1>you know, it's in the Cloud City and it has <v Speaker 1>uncomfortable things about racism. <v Speaker 3>Right, it's multiverse, right, you know, the multiverse. <v Speaker 1>Thing is dumb, but it gives them the opportunity to <v Speaker 1>kind of do what they want to, at least in <v Speaker 1>terms of setting with the BioShock games. But then it's like, well, <v Speaker 1>what is BioShock this kind of single player narrative focus, <v Speaker 1>kind of immersive stem Yeah, yeah, it's a bit of <v Speaker 1>enough tough to crack. I mean, are you still excited <v Speaker 1>about BioShock as a franchise in twenty twenty six? <v Speaker 3>Jan Uh, yeah, I think I am. I still haven't <v Speaker 3>played BioShock Infinite. I still eventually want to, despite people's <v Speaker 3>very urrying opinions on it. <v Speaker 1>And he different on that game that's like one of <v Speaker 1>the all time fastest, like everyone like. That game came <v Speaker 1>out and reviewed really well and people really liked it too. <v Speaker 1>That game got reconsidered very quickly, and I think kind <v Speaker 1>of rightly so, and now it's sort of looked upon. <v Speaker 3>It's kind of this weird thing. It definitely feels like <v Speaker 3>a record scratch in gaming history. So I'm still interested <v Speaker 3>in it, and you know, kind of similar to Jeff Backlar, <v Speaker 3>I have enjoyed or liked exploring some of the games <v Speaker 3>that are exploring that similar format of dude walking around <v Speaker 3>and his left hand is glowy while his right arm <v Speaker 3>shoots stuff. Yes, the genre. I do think that the <v Speaker 3>space where we are with gaming fandoms could definitely latch <v Speaker 3>onto something like a new BioShock and a new mass effect, <v Speaker 3>especially seeing how fervent the communities are around Balder's Gate three. <v Speaker 3>If you make something with like a good enough characters <v Speaker 3>that are engaging enough and deep relationships that I feel <v Speaker 3>like could fully happen in a new mass Effect, maybe <v Speaker 3>in a new BioShock, people will latch onto it and <v Speaker 3>will become insufferable about. <v Speaker 1>It, right, And I want to be one of those people. <v Speaker 1>I want to be insufferable. I love BioShock one. I <v Speaker 1>I just absolutely loved I thought that was like one <v Speaker 1>of the great things I ever played. When that came out, <v Speaker 1>I kind of want to go and play it again sometime, <v Speaker 1>you know. And I enjoyed BioShock two and BioShock Infinite <v Speaker 1>even right. I'm not going to pretend like I, you know, <v Speaker 1>saw the light right away on BioShock Infinite. I think <v Speaker 1>it has problems, but I had a fun time with <v Speaker 1>the game. <v Speaker 3>I in a lot of ways. I loved Minerva's Den <v Speaker 3>as like absolutely wonderful. I think, if I recall correctly, <v Speaker 3>I think some people that had issues with BioShock two, <v Speaker 3>minerv Is Den was enough of an adjustment or a <v Speaker 3>pivot to sway them that until liking the game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, it's funny because at the same time <v Speaker 1>of BioShock if it being reconsidered to be worse than <v Speaker 1>initially perceived, Bashok two has been kind of rising. There's <v Speaker 1>been an inverse effect on that. So yeah, I mean, <v Speaker 1>I wouldn't mind going back to the Oh series. I mean, look, <v Speaker 1>you do just kind of need to make a game <v Speaker 1>that plays like BioShock one with a new but familiar setting, right, <v Speaker 1>you gotta do something that's kind of weird and vintage <v Speaker 1>in some way, with not necessarily following the same vibe underwater, <v Speaker 1>you know, and rand kind of neon light thing was <v Speaker 1>going on in BioShock one. <v Speaker 3>I think there's an appetite for space, right, Mike, you <v Speaker 3>just do that retro futurism aesthetic. <v Speaker 1>Maybe it seems like the most obvious thing to me. <v Speaker 1>I think I'd be a little disappointed. I think I'd <v Speaker 1>be like, oh, that's so obvious when you're you know, <v Speaker 1>because and to be honest, the space BioShock it's kind <v Speaker 1>of system Shock, right, And I'm I'm an old person <v Speaker 1>who's like, I remember when BioShock was being touted as <v Speaker 1>the spiritual success or the system Shock too, So point <v Speaker 1>back to space. I would want to see something really <v Speaker 1>unique and different done with it. <v Speaker 3>They just were on a space station subterranean. Mike, Yes, <v Speaker 3>let's let's let's fight mole people. I'm down with that <v Speaker 3>one percent. <v Speaker 1>You know, put some weird kind of philosophy on it <v Speaker 1>and some interesting old. <v Speaker 3>Aurory of the cave. <v Speaker 1>Mike gets right there, Oh, do some Plato shit. Okay, Okay, <v Speaker 1>I'm run down with that. Let's go, let's go. I'm <v Speaker 1>sure we will see BioShock four someday. It's gonna be <v Speaker 1>really interesting, and it's it's not an immediate slam dunk. <v Speaker 1>I know you talked about mass effecting this and yeah, <v Speaker 1>like breath these things back. But you know, Dragon Age <v Speaker 1>did have it's uh come back finally a couple of <v Speaker 1>years ago, and largely rejected, largely rejected, did not do well. <v Speaker 2>It seems like fans did not latch onto that all. <v Speaker 1>So like the game still has to kind of, I <v Speaker 1>don't want to say be good, because there are definitely <v Speaker 1>people who like the Veil Guard and I haven't played <v Speaker 1>enough of it myself, but it. <v Speaker 3>Has to kind of give fans what they want. <v Speaker 2>And it's hard to necessarily know what that is sometimes. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, it's similar to the SIV seven story. <v Speaker 3>We just talked about, right, how do you give fans <v Speaker 3>what they want but also try and increase that net <v Speaker 3>to grab in more players. It's a it's it's not <v Speaker 3>as an unenviable situation to be in, all. <v Speaker 1>Right, right, right, you got it. The similar but different <v Speaker 1>line is a hard one to two. <v Speaker 2>All right. <v Speaker 1>Next door here, Capcom's Pragmata hits two million sales in <v Speaker 1>sixteen days. Back on says pragmat has passed this milestone, <v Speaker 1>treating one million in its first weekend. <v Speaker 2>Back on frame. <v Speaker 1>The milestone is especially positive because Pragmata is a new <v Speaker 1>ip back on previously created early demo marketing in a <v Speaker 1>day once which two port as part of the launch strategy. <v Speaker 1>I think that this game came in hot jam because <v Speaker 1>that demo was received really well, and it just kind <v Speaker 1>of looked fun in trailers, and the initial reviews were <v Speaker 1>really good. And then it's not one of those things <v Speaker 1>where actual people quote unquote play the game, you're like, oh, <v Speaker 1>I don't know about this. Everyone seems to like this game. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I believe. It still has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, <v Speaker 1>with over eleven thousand submitted user reviews, so word of <v Speaker 1>mouth just keeps building for this game. I don't think <v Speaker 1>two million is necessarily going to be the limit. I <v Speaker 1>think this game is going to have tremendous legs going <v Speaker 1>forward for years. <v Speaker 3>I think so, especially when this game eventually goes on <v Speaker 3>sale MIC and a lot more people can pick this <v Speaker 3>up and not worry about cost and whatnot. I think <v Speaker 3>it's going to have a complete second boost of life. <v Speaker 3>We all enjoy Pragmata here at GB. I'm interested to <v Speaker 3>see what grub thinks when he eventually gets around to <v Speaker 3>finishing it. I can easily see this being in my <v Speaker 3>top three of the year so far. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, and like you know, I don't want to <v Speaker 1>do like omnoxious in the Game of the Year kind <v Speaker 1>of talk right now. <v Speaker 3>But at the moment, I'm like, do you the number one? <v Speaker 3>Number two? <v Speaker 1>Probably honestly, just just really enjoyed it. It seems like <v Speaker 1>most people feel the same. Do you think a Pragmatic <v Speaker 1>two is already being worked on over at Capcom? <v Speaker 3>Yeah? I would. I'd love a DLC even, you know, <v Speaker 3>like kind of just like a random adventure with Hugh <v Speaker 3>and Diana and what's his face? <v Speaker 1>Oh cabin cabin, there we go, our boy cabin. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think there's some things they could do there. I <v Speaker 1>don't want to say for spoilers, but there's one avenue <v Speaker 1>that I bet might be explored as a little DLC <v Speaker 1>campaign myself, or you know, maybe that's even SEQL stuff. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>Plenty that they can still do with this franchise, and <v Speaker 1>it is cool to see new I from Capcom do <v Speaker 1>this well. Capcom has done some newish ips in the past. <v Speaker 1>There'ska Bitsugane right Path of the Goddess, and then we <v Speaker 1>had Exo Primal, and I definitely like that they did <v Speaker 1>those things. <v Speaker 3>None of those seemed to take off in some huge way. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if they necessarily disasters or like you know, <v Speaker 1>or so or anything like that, but not like it <v Speaker 1>wasn't a me like, oh, this is the start of <v Speaker 1>a new series of a you know, a new temple <v Speaker 1>for Capcom. <v Speaker 3>The way it feels like with Pragmata, Yeah, I think <v Speaker 3>people are also latching onto Pragmata, and I think it's <v Speaker 3>hitting a wider net versus Kanitsagami also Kitagami. I guess <v Speaker 3>the marketing kind of felt last minute for it. <v Speaker 1>I mean it was kind of positioned as like, you know, <v Speaker 1>I would say a B game, but you know it <v Speaker 1>obviously wasn't like a big triple A Capcom game per <v Speaker 1>se in Pragmada has always been positioned as that, so <v Speaker 1>that's gonna help it a bit, all right. Last story here, <v Speaker 1>RGG Stranger Than Have gets a deeper reveal Winter launch <v Speaker 1>window and Snoop Dogg. My first bulletpoint here says I'm <v Speaker 1>sick of Snoop that it says Xbox and God Now <v Speaker 1>I say RGG Studio showed more of Stranger Than Even, <v Speaker 1>confirming a Winter twenty six launch window and revealing Snoop <v Speaker 1>Dogg as Orpheus, a smuggler who brings protagonist Makotodeto into <v Speaker 1>the criminal underworld. The game spans fifty years, five eras, <v Speaker 1>and five cities. Man, I get I get even more <v Speaker 1>shen Move vibes from this game than I do from <v Speaker 1>uh from the Yakaza series. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. Yeah, I haven't had the chance to check this out. <v Speaker 3>And then for me personally, seeing Snoop Dogg attached just <v Speaker 3>kind of is makes also makes me tired because I'm <v Speaker 3>also tired of Snoop Dogg. But it's another entry from RGG. Uh. <v Speaker 3>I remember, I might be thinking of the wrong game. <v Speaker 3>But I think the initial trailer we saw this was <v Speaker 3>very impressive, so I will give it a shot. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I think something about like, oh wow, we're <v Speaker 1>like spanning fifty years. <v Speaker 2>You know, that's very ambitious. Yeah, that's right. <v Speaker 1>You know, sometimes that ambition can can falter and lead <v Speaker 1>to a messy game. But I certainly am intrigued and <v Speaker 1>I'm going to want to check this one out. <v Speaker 3>Now. <v Speaker 1>The RGG game that I'm really excited about is Virtue <v Speaker 1>a Fighter, so and hoping we see more of that soon. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, I haven't given this Deep Dive a super <v Speaker 1>good look at. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>When I see Deep Dive, it's still like, you know, <v Speaker 1>five minutes long. This is the right video that I'm <v Speaker 1>looking at here, Everybody, it is kind of a cast <v Speaker 1>reveal bo, there's other things going on here. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, stranger have it. <v Speaker 1>I bet we'll be seeing even more of this game <v Speaker 1>in the coming months. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I I'm kind of a mark for a good <v Speaker 3>time skip and a game or a piece of media. Sure, <v Speaker 3>if we're going to span fifty years, that could be, <v Speaker 3>like you said, very messy, but it could also be <v Speaker 3>you know, if Sega six to the Landing or GG <v Speaker 3>six landing. It could be a fun, captivating story. Al right. <v Speaker 2>That does it for our news topics? <v Speaker 3>Here? <v Speaker 1>We had we had a pull yuh not yesterday? I <v Speaker 1>guess wait, yes yesterday. It tays Thursday. Got weeks are weird? <v Speaker 1>Jeth gropask GTA six price check. What do you think <v Speaker 1>the options being one hundred dollars, ninety dollars, eighty dollars, <v Speaker 1>and seventy dollars. <v Speaker 2>I voted eighty dollars and most people agree. <v Speaker 1>Forty five percent think that granted, THOTAL six will cost <v Speaker 1>eighty US dollars when it comes out. What do you think, Jim? <v Speaker 3>I just voted ninety just to be a little stinker. <v Speaker 3>I could see eighty being the reality though with like <v Speaker 3>a special edition or like a premium early week early <v Speaker 3>early launch edition being like one twenty. All right, doing <v Speaker 3>a new pole here? Are you excited for the new star? <v Speaker 2>Fucks? <v Speaker 3>That's it? Your option? <v Speaker 2>Sorry? <v Speaker 3>Yes or no? Wow? I'm not giving you a maybe <v Speaker 3>you coward? They say yes or no? Yeah? Let me know? <v Speaker 3>Why do not you think no fence sitting here? <v Speaker 2>Absolutely not. <v Speaker 1>You guys either have love in your heart or you're <v Speaker 1>full of hatred. And that's Okay, I going to vote Yes, <v Speaker 1>I am. <v Speaker 3>I'm pretty excited. <v Speaker 1>I mean, look, you know, for Bethics, people thought we <v Speaker 1>might never get a Star Fucks game again, and this <v Speaker 1>is happening. It's always nice to know that these dormant <v Speaker 1>Nintendo franchises, they really can't just come back at any point. <v Speaker 1>So I'm hoping, Hey, maybe we'll see some more at <v Speaker 1>Zero Goodness soon, maybe a warri only and stuff like that. <v Speaker 3>You know. <v Speaker 1>Now with somebody who did think that the Nintendo Slate <v Speaker 1>looked a bit light, that doesn't solve all the problems. Sure, <v Speaker 1>but I think a new Star Fucks coming out in <v Speaker 1>a couple of months does more for me than the <v Speaker 1>Yoshi game does, honestly. <v Speaker 3>So yeah, I'm pretty excited. Speaking about being excited, the <v Speaker 3>trailer for Lego Batman dropped an extensive trailer, and I <v Speaker 3>suggest folks go check it out. They have the song <v Speaker 3>from the Batman move, that one Batman movie, the Seal <v Speaker 3>song Everybody. <v Speaker 1>Kiss About to Say KISSI rose, oh shit, Okay, I <v Speaker 1>need to see that thing because that's that. I don't <v Speaker 1>think anything else could have gotten me excited for the game. <v Speaker 3>But you said that, I'm like, oh hell yeah, there <v Speaker 3>we go. I've I've been excited for this game. I'm <v Speaker 3>super excited. <v Speaker 1>There were previews and everyone seemed to be buzzing. Actually, <v Speaker 1>the previews, from what I saw, seemed very positive. Yes, <v Speaker 1>Lego Batman might be hitting pretty hard. <v Speaker 3>I was a little upsetty Spaghetti Mike that we didn't <v Speaker 3>get invited to those because those were happening, uh in <v Speaker 3>Los Angeles around the same time as the Double O <v Speaker 3>seven preview, so I could. I was in town. Lego <v Speaker 3>Batman people, get us on your lists please. I maintained <v Speaker 3>that I think this is this is my hot take. Everyone. Okay, <v Speaker 3>I think Lego Batman is in my top three bat men. <v Speaker 2>Wow, okay, I see you. <v Speaker 1>Did you like that movie with uh Will Arnett? Yes, yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 1>I enjoyed that. I enjoyed that too, even though again <v Speaker 1>got kind of multiversity there at the end of the <v Speaker 1>Lego stuff. <v Speaker 2>Gets away with that. <v Speaker 1>That's fine, sure, all right, Jan, I believe we've done it. <v Speaker 2>I believe we did a show. <v Speaker 1>Were able to jump in there and cover for grub <v Speaker 1>working out some energy prop blums. Thank you so much <v Speaker 1>for helping me out and sitting here with me. Jan <v Speaker 1>had a great time with you. <v Speaker 3>It's a great way to start a Thursday. <v Speaker 1>Mikey all right, speaking of John bonmb we still got <v Speaker 1>some other stuff popping off during this week. You still check <v Speaker 1>out that this is the Runs, Grubs, Snacks, Lots of <v Speaker 1>fun stuff happened there, more fun stuff, more fun stuff <v Speaker 1>planned as well, and clean tomorrow with another game. <v Speaker 2>This morning is. <v Speaker 3>Probably the cheff this time who knows? And yeah, who knows? <v Speaker 3>Who knows? <v Speaker 1>Maybe his power will continue to be out forever And <v Speaker 1>I'm just the host of this show. <v Speaker 3>Now. <v Speaker 1>Uh we got upf with some fun games. Kind of <v Speaker 1>a bit of a grab bag going on there and <v Speaker 1>then don't forget next week the start of a dB <v Speaker 1>Independence week, which means I'm going to be playing a <v Speaker 1>lot of Donkey Kong sixty four. Everybody so much Donkey, <v Speaker 1>I think we could be surprised. <v Speaker 3>How much day is. <v Speaker 1>It's gonna depend on how much kind of support we <v Speaker 1>get from all of you, just how much I'm playing, <v Speaker 1>But it could be almost like practically a NonStop marathon <v Speaker 1>for me, aside from you know, sleeping. <v Speaker 3>And things like that. <v Speaker 1>You know, like let's say eight to ten hour days <v Speaker 1>of playing Donkany Kong. <v Speaker 2>Sixty four if people keep donating. <v Speaker 1>Showing support, you donate, i know, donating the work, joining <v Speaker 1>or whatever. But yeah, I could go for one hundred <v Speaker 1>and one percent everybody. <v Speaker 3>It's gonna be wild. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, hopefully we'll all have some fun with that. <v Speaker 1>We're also going to have the Endurance Run, the Bully <v Speaker 1>Endurance Run popping off pretty soon here. It's gonna be <v Speaker 1>available a week early for those premium members. <v Speaker 3>Ah way unrelated to anything relevant that you were talking about, Mike, <v Speaker 3>I'm gonna say I'm gonna gimmick infringement and yet another <v Speaker 3>video game character looks like me because Lego Jeffrey Wright <v Speaker 3>as Commissioner Gordon kind of looks like an older version <v Speaker 3>of me. Does he have a yellow beanie? No? No, <v Speaker 3>he's not even all right. <v Speaker 1>Phew, Okay, that's fine, that's fine, all right. I believe <v Speaker 1>we've done it. Thank you for watching, everybody, We'll see <v Speaker 1>you around. <v Speaker 2>I almost like wish, I hope. <v Speaker 1>I almost said, I hope you feel better, grub like <v Speaker 1>he's fine since his power, I guess I hope your <v Speaker 1>power feels better there. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, they put a band aid on its boom boo
