<v Speaker 1>this episode, we have Jerry from Indiana. He had a
<v Speaker 1>terrifying bigfoot encounter with a whole clan of Sasquatch. Jerry
<v Speaker 1>claims he was fishing at a pond during the summer
<v Speaker 1>when he ran into this tribe of Sasquatch. I have
<v Speaker 1>taken a lot of bigfoot reports from June and July.
<v Speaker 1>In the summertime, it seems like things are out their fullest.
<v Speaker 1>The trees are fully budded, there's a lot of bugs
<v Speaker 1>out there, and the animals can move around freely since
<v Speaker 1>there's no hunting during the summertime. It's really hot and
<v Speaker 1>humid as well, and there's a lot of ticks, mosquitoes, snakes, spiderwebs,
<v Speaker 1>things of that nature, and it's just kind of icky
<v Speaker 1>out there. These things live out there full time and
<v Speaker 1>they know when there's no people out in the woods.

<v Speaker 1>let's dive straight into Jerry's big Foot encounter from the
<v Speaker 1>state of Indiana. All right, Jerry, welcome to Sasquatch Theory.
<v Speaker 1>How are you doing today, Great good. It's a pleasure
<v Speaker 1>to have you on the show today. If you would
<v Speaker 1>tell me a little bit about yourself, where you're from,
<v Speaker 1>and your big Foot encounters and experiences from the very beginning.
<v Speaker 2>I live in outside Terrehood, Indiana. It's kind of a
<v Speaker 2>rural area and there's really if you walk one hundred
<v Speaker 2>yards in any direction, it's woods. And once you get
<v Speaker 2>outside of the it's not really a city. They call
<v Speaker 2>it a city, but once you get outside of the town,
<v Speaker 2>it's all woods for fifty sixty miles to the next town.
<v Speaker 2>And I moved back home to Indiana in nineteen ninety seven,
<v Speaker 2>and it was July of nineteen ninety seven. I belonged
<v Speaker 2>to a gun club and a small town near Terre Haute,
<v Speaker 2>and it has a locked gate to the property. Well,
<v Speaker 2>there's three small strip pits we call them lakes or
<v Speaker 2>ponds here, and there's a big one in the back
<v Speaker 2>and two small ones up front, and this gun club
<v Speaker 2>has a locked gate.
<v Speaker 3>It was pretty much desolate at that time.
<v Speaker 2>I seen one or two guys in there in about
<v Speaker 2>twelve years. You go to this gun store and you
<v Speaker 2>pay for a membership and they give you a key
<v Speaker 2>and that's it. So I spent a lot of time
<v Speaker 2>fishing in the back of this place, and I noticed
<v Speaker 2>some weird stuff, like indentions in the ground and like
<v Speaker 2>an area where something had ate a lot of fish
<v Speaker 2>in a small spot, and I never really paid attention
<v Speaker 2>to it. I remember finding all that stuff, though, But
<v Speaker 2>one day I pulled right off of the road that
<v Speaker 2>leads to this place, and it's not far from another
<v Speaker 2>small town. It's actually right off of the main street.
<v Speaker 2>The main street of this town goes out in the
<v Speaker 2>country indefinitely. About a mile outside of town is the
<v Speaker 2>gun club. I was messing around one day and I
<v Speaker 2>went to the front of the club by the road.
<v Speaker 2>I found this little trail that led down to the
<v Speaker 2>water and this Strippit has probably sixty or eighty feet
<v Speaker 2>almost vertical drop. If it's dry, you can turn your
<v Speaker 2>feet sideways and kind of hobbled it, lean back and
<v Speaker 2>kind of get down there.
<v Speaker 3>There's a little peninsula. I went down there.
<v Speaker 2>One day and I went down got down to that
<v Speaker 2>little peninsula. I'm like, wow, I'll bet this has never
<v Speaker 2>really had, you know, never had a line put in it.
<v Speaker 2>So I said, I'm not a morning person, but I'll
<v Speaker 2>get up before the sun comes up. I'll come down
<v Speaker 2>here and I'll hit this with some of these little secret,
<v Speaker 2>little handmade bass lures I use. So I went home
<v Speaker 2>and got up early in the morning. It was still dark.
<v Speaker 2>It was July twentieth, nineteen ninety seven. I went up
<v Speaker 2>to the entrance of the little trail and pulled off
<v Speaker 2>in the grass under this tree. I had a little
<v Speaker 2>Chevy Cavalier. I got my little little tiny plane o
<v Speaker 2>tackle box and a fishing rod and went over to
<v Speaker 2>the hill and started going down it. And the first
<v Speaker 2>five feet it kind of goes down a little bit
<v Speaker 2>and then it'll flatten out. Then it's pretty steep. You really, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>excuse me, it had It was really foggy and it
<v Speaker 2>was dark. But I seen this this hole where the
<v Speaker 2>trail was, so I went in there and I just
<v Speaker 2>slid completely down about set sixty or eighty feet and
<v Speaker 2>there's rocks and roots sticking out of it. So I
<v Speaker 2>spread my arms and I slid all the way down
<v Speaker 2>to the water's edge. My left foot went into the water.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, oh man, I still have my tackle box
<v Speaker 2>in one hand and a fishing rod in the other.
<v Speaker 2>So I got up and shook my foot off. I'm like,
<v Speaker 2>oh man, I just scared away every everything in this pond.
<v Speaker 2>It's over. Forget it. So I stood up and I
<v Speaker 2>was like, well, I'm already here. I started casting. This
<v Speaker 2>looked like a Stephen King movie. There was a blanket
<v Speaker 2>of fog across this pond, about four feet off of
<v Speaker 2>the water and about twenty.
<v Speaker 3>Feet in the air.
<v Speaker 2>Fog will just be trapped in those little strip pits
<v Speaker 2>like sixty foot rock walls to them. So I'm down
<v Speaker 2>there and when I slid down and I stood up,
<v Speaker 2>I grabbed my fish and pule a bush across the
<v Speaker 2>pond started kind of wrestling.
<v Speaker 3>I'm kind of a woodsman.
<v Speaker 2>I've hunted coyotes for thirty five years straight, exclusively, seven
<v Speaker 2>days a week. I work and hunt. That's all I
<v Speaker 2>really do. And this bush rattled again about well, you know,
<v Speaker 2>it's either a raccoon or a deer. And I cast
<v Speaker 2>it a few times and I heard a noise behind me,
<v Speaker 2>like on the trail coming down to me. It's the
<v Speaker 2>only way to get to this place. And then I
<v Speaker 2>kept hearing a cackle and like some whistling, and I
<v Speaker 2>don't think coons can whistle, and I don't think deers whistle.
<v Speaker 3>And then.
<v Speaker 2>Across from me, straight in front of me, this thing
<v Speaker 2>starts whistling back behind me, and I know they're communicating.
<v Speaker 2>I can hear them very clearly. I remember every noise
<v Speaker 2>they made. It was like a click in a whistle
<v Speaker 2>and like loud clicking. And they were very different, so
<v Speaker 2>I know they were saying different things. So I cast
<v Speaker 2>that whole time about five minutes. I was casting to
<v Speaker 2>my left and one ear is on the one up
<v Speaker 2>the hill, and my right ears listening to the one
<v Speaker 2>across the way. And this little pond is shaped like
<v Speaker 2>a peanut. It comes together probably twenty yards where the
<v Speaker 2>little peninsula where I was standing the other side has
<v Speaker 2>a bow in it that comes pretty close to me.
<v Speaker 3>You can cast across this very easily.
<v Speaker 2>And I was casting to my left and I'm figuring out, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>coons aren't distance communicators period. They can scream and stuff,
<v Speaker 2>they just you know, they're independent thinkers. And I look
<v Speaker 2>across the way and the fog kind of clears a
<v Speaker 2>little bit, and I see something turned towards me and like,
<v Speaker 2>look at me with eyeballs. So I started casting to
<v Speaker 2>my right, and then I cast to it a few times,
<v Speaker 2>and I mean, I'm reeling this in trying to catch
<v Speaker 2>any fish. I'm praying, I don't you know, like, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>this is a little too big, it's a little too
<v Speaker 2>high to be a coon or a deer. And it
<v Speaker 2>was reaching across this juniper bush, kicking these flowers and
<v Speaker 2>putting it in his mouth. I said, okay, a deer
<v Speaker 2>can't grasp things with its hoofs.
<v Speaker 3>I know better that the deer.
<v Speaker 2>Will stand on their hind legs and eat apples off
<v Speaker 2>the trees that we think, yeah, there's no way they
<v Speaker 2>could get that. But and I'm watching it out of
<v Speaker 2>the corner of my eye and trying to pretend like
<v Speaker 2>I'm really paying attention. Reached down in my tackle box,
<v Speaker 2>open it up, close it, and latched it back like
<v Speaker 2>I was really not paying attention to them, but I was,
<v Speaker 2>and I cast it.
<v Speaker 3>I said, well, this is going to be the definitive
<v Speaker 3>answer right here.
<v Speaker 2>I was trying to get it to move or so
<v Speaker 2>I could see it better, and the moon shined directly
<v Speaker 2>on it like a spotlight, and it was standing pretty
<v Speaker 2>still eating those flowers. I casted my plug right at
<v Speaker 2>its feet, right at the base of the bank.
<v Speaker 3>I got a little closer I wanted to. It hit
<v Speaker 3>the bank in the.
<v Speaker 2>Water and went splashed and splashed water up on its
<v Speaker 2>face because a power cast.
<v Speaker 3>It splashed water on it, and it went loose.
<v Speaker 2>And looked me dead in the eye, just like you
<v Speaker 2>go in McDonald's and look the person in the eye.
<v Speaker 2>I know it was trying to stay hidden, and for
<v Speaker 2>the most part it did. But once it seemed I
<v Speaker 2>was looking directly at it, it was still chewing those
<v Speaker 2>flowers and had them hanging out of its mouth. It
<v Speaker 2>turned directly towards me and gave it gave me a
<v Speaker 2>perfect uh broadside body, you know, a view of its chest,
<v Speaker 2>its face, it top, its head down to its waistline.
<v Speaker 2>And I knew, right there, hey, that's either a gorilla
<v Speaker 2>standing on a five foot box or I needed to
<v Speaker 2>get the heck out of here.
<v Speaker 3>I started shaking real bad. I looked away. I didn't
<v Speaker 3>want to keep eye contact, like I didn't notice it,
<v Speaker 3>like I didn't see it look right at me, and
<v Speaker 3>it was looking at my plug going back on, you know,
<v Speaker 3>me casting it and reeling it back in. I'd see
<v Speaker 3>its eye, that's how close I was to it. Its
<v Speaker 3>eyes looked directly down. I was watching my plug. It
<v Speaker 3>was like h and it went and looked down like
<v Speaker 3>totally not a threat.
<v Speaker 2>Then it started tackling back to the one that was
<v Speaker 2>talking to behind me. I thought, okay, I'm hoping the
<v Speaker 2>thing behind me is like a raccoon, because he was
<v Speaker 2>going and making some weird noises. Which I've been in
<v Speaker 2>the woods all my life, since I was a child,
<v Speaker 2>all over the United States.
<v Speaker 3>I know everything that's in these woods. Everything.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, okay, I'm not sure what that is, but
<v Speaker 2>I want to get out of here, I said, I
<v Speaker 2>don't want to run and panic, you know, because you know,
<v Speaker 2>I hunt like twelve hours a day.
<v Speaker 3>So I reeled it in.
<v Speaker 2>I hooked my lure up on my pole, wretched down real.
<v Speaker 3>Slow and easy, and grab my tackle box.
<v Speaker 2>Looked around a little bit because I didn't want to
<v Speaker 2>seem like I was panicking, but I was very panicking.
<v Speaker 2>I turned around and started up the hill and it
<v Speaker 2>was just covered with mud because of the fog and
<v Speaker 2>the humidity, just slick clay and mud. As a matter
<v Speaker 2>of fact, that the county's name is Clay County that
<v Speaker 2>this happened in. And I started heading back up and
<v Speaker 2>I fell right on my face, just pete went right
<v Speaker 2>off from under me.
<v Speaker 3>I said, oh, I gotta keep going. I can't just lay.
<v Speaker 2>So I decided to leave my tackle box and the
<v Speaker 2>pole and I started grabbing rocks and roots and climbing
<v Speaker 2>up this trails that steep. I wasn't getting anywhere. I
<v Speaker 2>would like pull three times and then slide all the
<v Speaker 2>way back down to the bottom, like, oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>I gotta get I wonder if I can swim faster
<v Speaker 2>than it, you know. So I kept climbing and climbing,
<v Speaker 2>and I got halfway up.
<v Speaker 3>I was exhausted, and my knees went out from under me.
<v Speaker 3>Even my jeans had mud all over them, and wet
<v Speaker 3>mud and wet.
<v Speaker 2>Mud is not good. So I just laid there for
<v Speaker 2>a second, flat on my face. I kept hearing something
<v Speaker 2>rustle to my right. I'm like, oh, the thing that
<v Speaker 2>was behind me. There was a ledge that I never
<v Speaker 2>seen before, probably ten feet wide. And the way they
<v Speaker 2>dug the coal out of these they go in swirls
<v Speaker 2>and as they're digging, so their trucks can drive out.
<v Speaker 2>And this ledge ended about twenty feet away from the trail,
<v Speaker 2>so the only way in or out was on that slope.
<v Speaker 2>I've went back and seen it in daylight, and yeah, So.
<v Speaker 3>I looked to my right.
<v Speaker 2>I kept seeing something swaying like a tree in a breeze,
<v Speaker 2>but there was no breeze. It was dead still, and
<v Speaker 2>I saw one about six feet tall covered with hair,
<v Speaker 2>holding a really small one, and one about six to
<v Speaker 2>six and another one about five feet tall, all standing
<v Speaker 2>huddling in a group. And when I turned my.
<v Speaker 3>Head, it took a second from my eyes to adjust
<v Speaker 3>to it. They all hunk together, so it just looked
<v Speaker 3>like a shadow or a black blob. But I stared
<v Speaker 3>at him, and the moonlight hit him. I seen their
<v Speaker 3>face and they weren't That's what it was. When I
<v Speaker 3>was on the on the peninsula fishing, they were panicking
<v Speaker 3>because there was no way out other than to go behind.
<v Speaker 2>Me and make a lot of noise. There was no
<v Speaker 2>way for him to leave, so he was telling them
<v Speaker 2>stay put, stay put, because they were bickering back and
<v Speaker 2>forth for quite a while, and it was getting louder,
<v Speaker 2>probably trying to scare me away, which they did.
<v Speaker 3>But I watched them for a couple of minutes and
<v Speaker 3>I didn't. I didn't. They didn't make a move towards me.
<v Speaker 3>They didn't move their bodies at all. They just stood there,
<v Speaker 3>swaying back and.
<v Speaker 2>Forth like a little sapling and a strong wind, just
<v Speaker 2>kind of fidgeting.
<v Speaker 3>So I was able to get up and grab some
<v Speaker 3>rocks and keep clawing my way out.
<v Speaker 2>And I got up to where I could stand up
<v Speaker 2>vertically like ninety degrees, and I booked to my car.
<v Speaker 3>I slid across the hood.
<v Speaker 2>I mean sometimes when you move, you're moving, you don't
<v Speaker 2>realize what you're doing. I slid across the hood like
<v Speaker 2>Starsky and Hutch I've I had the throttle to the
<v Speaker 2>floor before I even turned the key. So when I
<v Speaker 2>turned the key and slapped it into gear, that little
<v Speaker 2>cavalier was smoking them. So I drove back to my
<v Speaker 2>house and that I didn't sleep all night. I didn't
<v Speaker 2>know what to do. I know what I saw. It
<v Speaker 2>looked like a gorilla. That's the closest thing I can
<v Speaker 2>think of. But it had long hair from the top
<v Speaker 2>of its scalp that was all one length down the
<v Speaker 2>front of its body.
<v Speaker 3>Its hair just blended into its body air. Its upper
<v Speaker 3>body was kind of barrel shaped.
<v Speaker 2>But I know this place, and I know there's no
<v Speaker 2>one really been in it to two shotgun shooters in
<v Speaker 2>ten years, skeet shooters, that's all I seen. I was
<v Speaker 2>there every single day. I would go warm up or
<v Speaker 2>shoot my ars before I went kyote hunting every single
<v Speaker 2>day for many years. So I got back and I
<v Speaker 2>called my mom. I talked to her about it. She goes, well,
<v Speaker 2>maybe she'd call somebody and report it. So I got
<v Speaker 2>a hold of the BFRO online. And this is back
<v Speaker 2>when we had flip phones, was the magic device to
<v Speaker 2>have at that time. There was no eighty megapixel camera
<v Speaker 2>on your phone, you know. So they did get a
<v Speaker 2>hold of me, and I think it had been two months.
<v Speaker 2>They actually made it out and had some investigators in
<v Speaker 2>the area come to Indiana investigated, and they took two months.
<v Speaker 2>They stayed in hotels and took two months and investigated
<v Speaker 2>because they were finding so much stuff. And over the
<v Speaker 2>period of another eight years, I will guess I seen
<v Speaker 2>these things quite a bit more in a very large
<v Speaker 2>state hunting property that adjoins this area.
<v Speaker 1>Wow, that's absolutely incredible. So the BFRO stayed in the
<v Speaker 1>area for two months researching the property.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, collecting evidence and trying to have an encounter theirself.
<v Speaker 1>Did they ever end up finding anything in particular, like
<v Speaker 1>tracks or do they get any photos or audio anything
<v Speaker 1>like that?
<v Speaker 3>Yes, we got all that.
<v Speaker 2>I got some photos later of them in this state
<v Speaker 2>hunting area where I just I hunt coyos. That's where
<v Speaker 2>I went. I would go shoot my ars at this
<v Speaker 2>rifle range and then go directly It's probably three miles
<v Speaker 2>to the beginning of this wildlife area. And they got
<v Speaker 2>a lot of evidence, a lot of hair. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I don't expect they share that stuff because I looked
<v Speaker 2>at the actual report.
<v Speaker 3>They didn't post the report until about a year afterwards,
<v Speaker 3>which is smart. You're protecting an area, you're protecting a creature,
<v Speaker 3>or you're protecting an eyewitness, and they changed your tea jick,
<v Speaker 3>you know, the address, stuff like that so people don't
<v Speaker 3>go booger up areas or harass them. You know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that makes complete sense.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because I looked it up and they changed one
<v Speaker 2>or two little things where you would never find it.
<v Speaker 2>But if you look at the map where they put it,
<v Speaker 2>it's it's right there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, very cool. And I know from personal experiences that
<v Speaker 1>if you tell someone where an area is, they'll go looking.
<v Speaker 1>It doesn't matter if it's private land. They'll just start
<v Speaker 1>walking through your land trying to have an encounter.
<v Speaker 3>Sure, that's exactly what they did.
<v Speaker 2>The president of the gun club called me at home
<v Speaker 2>one day, said, Jerry, do you know a guy it's
<v Speaker 2>about six foot four with the brown beard.
<v Speaker 3>He was in here asking about you. See they kind
<v Speaker 3>of abused.
<v Speaker 2>That that privacy information, didn't they He was in my
<v Speaker 2>gun shop asking about me. That's kind of a breach
<v Speaker 2>of trust. I don't care that the whole world knows.
<v Speaker 2>I wish people could see and get actual they had
<v Speaker 2>the evidence that they found, they took it. Didn't say
<v Speaker 2>anything to me, but I seen them. I didn't mess
<v Speaker 2>with them when they were out there. I was shooting
<v Speaker 2>one day. Out comes the investigator that called him, like,
<v Speaker 2>hey man, that's all swamp back there, and I'm shooting
<v Speaker 2>in that direction.
<v Speaker 3>Really, you're not supposed to be back there.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I'm shooting a thirty caliber automatic and he
<v Speaker 2>comes walking up a trail on the side like right there,
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, dude, do you not you know, I know
<v Speaker 2>they just have a lifelong interest in finding these creat
<v Speaker 2>and having an encounter.
<v Speaker 3>Is what they're searching for.
<v Speaker 2>But it's kind of really I mean, I wish we
<v Speaker 2>could all see them at a disc sense where we
<v Speaker 2>think we're safe and it be at peace. But I know,
<v Speaker 2>I know for a fact, I didn't want this. I
<v Speaker 2>didn't want to see this thing. It didn't want me
<v Speaker 2>to see it. Once I saw it, it was just
<v Speaker 2>it didn't really care. It knows I'm not a threat.
<v Speaker 2>It sees me there all the time. Does that make
<v Speaker 2>sense to you?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? Absolutely. So these creatures were watching you fishing in
<v Speaker 1>this pond and you could hear them whistling, and they
<v Speaker 1>were making a clicking sound. Can you describe that clicking sound.
<v Speaker 3>You like, you know how a raccoon kind of will
<v Speaker 3>make that bar that rattle real quick. Yeah, they were.
<v Speaker 2>Doing that, but it had a whistle over top of it.
<v Speaker 2>I can't even really do it. But the whistle. You
<v Speaker 2>know what birds sound like.
<v Speaker 3>You probably know most birds if you hear it, not
<v Speaker 3>maybe not what it is, but you know it's a bird.
<v Speaker 2>This was like a person whistling. It doesn't they We can't.
<v Speaker 2>We don't have a beak. We can't reach those notes
<v Speaker 2>that a bird whistle can. And then it was just
<v Speaker 2>like you put your tongue on the roof of your
<v Speaker 2>mouth type whistle. I already know, you know, like you're
<v Speaker 2>whistling for your dog. You know, I already know. I'm like,
<v Speaker 2>that's not that's not a raccoon. That's not a bird.
<v Speaker 2>I thought it was a bird, and I was standing
<v Speaker 2>there trying to convince myself it was, you know, a
<v Speaker 2>local wildlife.
<v Speaker 3>But I'm in there. It's a gun club. I know
<v Speaker 3>what's there. I know where the foxholes are, I know
<v Speaker 3>where the coyotes are. I know where the geese live.
<v Speaker 2>When it looked at me, it just looked me up
<v Speaker 2>and down, and then I seen its eyes go to
<v Speaker 2>my fan. That's when I when its eyes went to
<v Speaker 2>my fishing lure and I was cranking it in. I
<v Speaker 2>cast it towards it again and it splashed in the
<v Speaker 2>water right in front of it.
<v Speaker 3>Again.
<v Speaker 2>I said, I'll get it to look or move its
<v Speaker 2>body or something. It looked at the lure splashing the
<v Speaker 2>water and looked me dead in the eye. Then it
<v Speaker 2>looked back at the lure and went h like like.
<v Speaker 3>You know these things critically think. It was like he's
<v Speaker 3>dragging something across the water. You know.
<v Speaker 2>I can't explain what it was thinking, but it was thinking.
<v Speaker 2>And it looked me dead in the eye, looked me
<v Speaker 2>up and down. They can size you up in a
<v Speaker 2>matter of a second.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and how far away were they?
<v Speaker 2>It was the big one across the creek. I'm assuming
<v Speaker 2>was the mail because it was telling them to stay put.
<v Speaker 2>They were chattering and screaming back to it, you know,
<v Speaker 2>wanting to leave that the only way to leave was
<v Speaker 2>come out of the trail right behind me and go
<v Speaker 2>up in perfect sight one across from me.
<v Speaker 3>It was fifteen yards.
<v Speaker 1>Oh wow, so that's really close.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>When I was up the hill, halfway up the hill
<v Speaker 2>and I saw the four standing to my ride on
<v Speaker 2>the ledge, probably twenty yards, I thought it was raccoons.
<v Speaker 2>I was hoping it was, like, you know the noise
<v Speaker 2>raccoons make, this is what it was doing. That's probably
<v Speaker 2>how they get by a lot and stay hidden and
<v Speaker 2>communicate without you even knowing it. If we put a
<v Speaker 2>raccoon in a cage and put it outside your bedroom window.

<v Speaker 2>hunt coyotes. I have rifle scopes that I can mount
<v Speaker 2>cameras to and we did at that time. I got
<v Speaker 2>a lot of them, and they took the photos and
<v Speaker 2>just I never heard anything from them ever. Again, those
<v Speaker 2>photos popped up later on online with stories behind them,
<v Speaker 2>and they were just you know, distributing the photos.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I mean, that's it, and it's been quite
<v Speaker 3>a long time.
<v Speaker 2>I really, you know, after that, I never mentioned it
<v Speaker 2>to anybody, but I seen him a few times after that,
<v Speaker 2>and I just don't pay attention. Just like I recognize them,
<v Speaker 2>they would recognize me. I'm the same person, you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, if you would tell me about these other encounters
<v Speaker 1>that you've had.
<v Speaker 2>They were just a hunting area where I call coyotes.
<v Speaker 2>I would get there and I had a routine. I
<v Speaker 2>would get there about seven in the morning, what was
<v Speaker 2>still dark, Wait, let the area cool off, get in
<v Speaker 2>the highest shooting vantage point that I could, which over
<v Speaker 2>this one area is called the flats. It's a waist
<v Speaker 2>high brush and I was in like.
<v Speaker 3>A little area where a little.
<v Speaker 2>A little inlet and I could shoot out over the
<v Speaker 2>field or call them into this inlet, and they're kind
<v Speaker 2>of just they'll take the path of least resistance, talking
<v Speaker 2>about calling in kyotes. And when I would start calling,
<v Speaker 2>they knew I was there, and it would be seconds
<v Speaker 2>before they start moving towards me, and I would hear them.
<v Speaker 2>I would hear twig snap, and I'm forty feet up
<v Speaker 2>on this ridge and they knew where I was at
<v Speaker 2>most of the time.
<v Speaker 3>Every day. If I would go in another area, like
<v Speaker 3>the opposite side of this.
<v Speaker 2>Area and make my way back there and set up,
<v Speaker 2>I would hear them coming in. And I got a
<v Speaker 2>lot of photos of them, and I sent it. This
<v Speaker 2>is back when we had flip phones with cameras, but
<v Speaker 2>it was.
<v Speaker 3>Really bad quality.
<v Speaker 2>So I got like a Nikon f Z with the
<v Speaker 2>fitting that fitted on my camera and embrace that fit
<v Speaker 2>on my rifle scopes. And this was hardcore technology then
<v Speaker 2>to get a camera to focus.
<v Speaker 3>Through a rifle scope.
<v Speaker 2>But I got quite a lot of photos of them,
<v Speaker 2>and I didn't want to scare them off because they knew.
<v Speaker 2>Sometimes I wouldn't see them, and I wonder where that
<v Speaker 2>one was because it was like a lighter brown. It
<v Speaker 2>would come up to the tree line, to the adjacent
<v Speaker 2>woods and just wait and I alwould see it move. I'm
<v Speaker 2>looking for smaller stuff like iotes. And you know, I
<v Speaker 2>agree with when people say they were, you know, flanked
<v Speaker 2>out of the woods, like when you walk, they walk
<v Speaker 2>when you stop. That's just common sense. Even other small
<v Speaker 2>critters will do that so you're not you're not aware
<v Speaker 2>that they're there.
<v Speaker 3>They did that quite a bit.
<v Speaker 2>I just got to where I wasn't shocked by them anymore.
<v Speaker 2>I know they're not going to hurt me. I was
<v Speaker 2>very close to them at the pond that morning.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's interesting, and I do with you that possibly
<v Speaker 1>they were like mimicking raccoons. But I've also heard like
<v Speaker 1>tribal people around the world will do like these clicks
<v Speaker 1>and pops with their mouth as a communication, so that's
<v Speaker 1>possibly what was going on as well. And what did
<v Speaker 1>the creature look like? The big male? Can you describe
<v Speaker 1>the features on them?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? I can't.
<v Speaker 2>Kind of had a big head and kind of like
<v Speaker 2>a gorilla, but dish faced, like flat faced, big huge eyes,
<v Speaker 2>long hair from the top of its head, huge shoulders,
<v Speaker 2>like unbelievable. When it turned sideways and looked at my
<v Speaker 2>fishing lure, it went hm, just like you would look
<v Speaker 2>at something.
<v Speaker 3>Go man, you know. I was like, wow, that this
<v Speaker 3>thing's intelligent.
<v Speaker 2>The hair blended with his facial hair, the hair from
<v Speaker 2>the top of its head, so I could just see
<v Speaker 2>its eyes, nose, forehead. The rest was hair, but with
<v Speaker 2>the moonlight on it, I could see how wide it was.
<v Speaker 2>When it turns sideways, I'm like, oh, that's when I
<v Speaker 2>usually have a couple of ars in my trunk for
<v Speaker 2>Kyle Hunton.
<v Speaker 3>I just put him in there.
<v Speaker 2>Go to work, go home, go to the range, take
<v Speaker 2>them out, go hunting, take them out.
<v Speaker 3>I just keep him in the trunk. I'm like, oh, man,
<v Speaker 3>this you know.
<v Speaker 2>They knew I wasn't a threat, and they were looking
<v Speaker 2>at what I had in my hand, the fishing pole.
<v Speaker 3>That's what he was he was looking at.
<v Speaker 2>But I think that he was telling them because when
<v Speaker 2>I got home that morning, I'm like, man, that chattering
<v Speaker 2>behind me and.
<v Speaker 3>The back and forth. First it was in front of me,
<v Speaker 3>then it was in back of me making noise.
<v Speaker 2>Then they were arguing back and forth like really harsh
<v Speaker 2>like they were. I figured that out that he was
<v Speaker 2>telling them stop, stop, stay still, stay where you're at.
<v Speaker 3>They were arguing like they wanted to leave.
<v Speaker 2>There was no way for them to leave other than
<v Speaker 2>to come out onto that steep slope right in my right,
<v Speaker 2>in my face, you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. And one of them was holding a juvenile is
<v Speaker 1>that correct?
<v Speaker 3>Yes? A small like a really really small one. Wow.
<v Speaker 1>And what what do those creatures look like?
<v Speaker 2>Just like them kind of like chimpanzee From what I
<v Speaker 2>could see. There was a one standing to.
<v Speaker 3>Her right that wasn't really big, and when in it,
<v Speaker 3>she was pretty big wide. When I turned and noticed them,
<v Speaker 3>they all kind of honkered into a huddle, and that
<v Speaker 3>little one on her right turned it around and put
<v Speaker 3>its face like in her you know, in her side
<v Speaker 3>of her, growing like hiding its face like a child,
<v Speaker 3>like they were really scared, And she just stood there
<v Speaker 3>and held them and looked directly at me. I'm guessing
<v Speaker 3>she was a female because they were hanging on her,
<v Speaker 3>you know, and with her. Isn't that something?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's an incredible encounter. You got to see the
<v Speaker 1>entire clan.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because if you think about it, they come from somewhere,
<v Speaker 2>the large alpha males, they come from somewhere. They did
<v Speaker 2>just spring out of a hole in the ground. You know,
<v Speaker 2>they had to had family units and groups. And this
<v Speaker 2>place is not inhabited and definitely not where I was
<v Speaker 2>down that slope. If I was to hit my head
<v Speaker 2>and fall in the water, that'd be it for me.
<v Speaker 2>You know, no one's gonna find me because there is
<v Speaker 2>no one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Absolutely. Do you think these creatures were fishing that
<v Speaker 1>day and maybe you interrupted their their supply.
<v Speaker 3>I guess it's possible. It's uh.
<v Speaker 2>Where I was at, it's not very deep, but they
<v Speaker 2>the one across the way was eating those flowers, and
<v Speaker 2>I took one of the flowers. Like the next summer.
<v Speaker 2>They just come out real quick and then they drive
<v Speaker 2>and they're gone. And I looked it up. It's like
<v Speaker 2>a juniper bush or a juniper tree as a real
<v Speaker 2>pretty white and red and orange flower on it. He
<v Speaker 2>was eating those pretty chompy like a horse right in
<v Speaker 2>front of me, like stuff in his mouth full. That's
<v Speaker 2>why I said, that bush is about six feet tall.
<v Speaker 2>There's no way for you if you're six six to
<v Speaker 2>be reaching over a bush and plucking flowers and the
<v Speaker 2>bush was going shh. It was really he was really
<v Speaker 2>plucking that bush clean, you know, like, man, it's still there,
<v Speaker 2>everything's still there, looks just like it did.
<v Speaker 3>Then.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's really interesting. I didn't know that they would
<v Speaker 1>eat those types of flowers, and that's important for the research.
<v Speaker 1>What time of year was this?
<v Speaker 2>It was July, I think the tenth, nineteen ninety seven.
<v Speaker 2>And the years, you know, when you hear an old encounter,
<v Speaker 2>the years really mean nothing. I listened to the details
<v Speaker 2>and the behavior of these things and what you know.
<v Speaker 3>That's what got me interested in it.
<v Speaker 2>I didn't really believe in it before I saw it
<v Speaker 2>and looked at me and with.
<v Speaker 3>You know, like I was not you know, he said
<v Speaker 3>that I'm not a threat. I have as a fishing pull.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I'm sure they've watched you on the property
<v Speaker 1>before and they knew, Okay, he doesn't have a firearm
<v Speaker 1>this time he's out there fishing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you're exactly right.
<v Speaker 1>Now. What happened after this encounter? Did you get out
<v Speaker 1>of there and then go home? You mentioned that you
<v Speaker 1>talk to your mother and she kind of told you
<v Speaker 1>to contact someone else. But after that the encounter, did
<v Speaker 1>you like take off running? Did you drop your fishing
<v Speaker 1>poles and leave everything there? Kind of what happened after that?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I left the tackle box and when I got
<v Speaker 3>up to the top of the hill, I got in
<v Speaker 3>my car, I was gone. I was really pretty panicked.
<v Speaker 3>I didn't think that little cavalier could smoke its fires.
<v Speaker 3>I got out of there. So yeah, when I got home,
<v Speaker 3>I guess it was a a week. I really couldn't sleep.
<v Speaker 2>I wanted to tell somebody and see if anybody else
<v Speaker 2>had ever had any encounters like that. That's when I
<v Speaker 2>got online. Now I'm talking web TV days, you know,
<v Speaker 2>we had. I found the BFRO and I contacted them.
<v Speaker 2>Then they actually called me back on the ground line
<v Speaker 2>and I made a report. I sent them sketches and stuff,
<v Speaker 2>and they were they were pretty ecstatic about that.
<v Speaker 4>What.
<v Speaker 2>I can't say what they found because I wasn't out
<v Speaker 2>there every day with them, but I know they were
<v Speaker 2>out there for a couple of months, and they don't
<v Speaker 2>if they don't find anything, they're not going to spend
<v Speaker 2>that much time.
<v Speaker 3>And they take turns.
<v Speaker 2>In recent history telling each other where this area is
<v Speaker 2>and it's not like it's a secret. It's like a
<v Speaker 2>quarter mile outside of a small town and they all
<v Speaker 2>go there and investigate, and they've all found plenty footprints galore.
<v Speaker 2>It's not that's when you find footprints you kind of
<v Speaker 2>want to move past that. You want to see this thing,
<v Speaker 2>you want to you know it's there, right, it's one
<v Speaker 2>evidence that something left this footprint in the dirt.
<v Speaker 3>You know it's there. You want to move past that.
<v Speaker 3>And they're past the hair and the footprints, and there's
<v Speaker 3>piles of scat that they took pictures of and put
<v Speaker 3>it on BFRO.
<v Speaker 2>And I know where that person just was. I know where,
<v Speaker 2>which is good. They're kind of hiding the location, but
<v Speaker 2>I don't really care.
<v Speaker 3>I've shared it with a lot of people.
<v Speaker 2>There was another big foot website after the BFRO that
<v Speaker 2>a guy named Luke.
<v Speaker 3>I believe he's passed away. Now. We had a lot
<v Speaker 3>of fun out there, and he did a lot.
<v Speaker 2>And he was a good guy, and he was lucky
<v Speaker 2>enough to make eye contact with him too.
<v Speaker 3>I can't explain why or how.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not saying they're comfortable with me, because a lot
<v Speaker 2>of times I don't see him. I still hunt coyotes
<v Speaker 2>and not quite as often, but I still go to
<v Speaker 2>the exact same spot and sit down and wait, you know,
<v Speaker 2>and any intelligent animal knows that the coyotes know where
<v Speaker 2>I go.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And did you have any strange experiences on the property,
<v Speaker 1>like anything paranormal? Did you ever see any orbs anything? Uh?
<v Speaker 3>No, I sure didn't. Usually by nighttime I'm out of there.
<v Speaker 3>That was my first and only time I went there
<v Speaker 3>while it was dark.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, So you thinks showing up in the darkness kind
<v Speaker 1>of threw them.
<v Speaker 3>Off, absolutely, because I had never been there and I
<v Speaker 3>never went down to the water, and I'd never been
<v Speaker 3>there at dark. I went and looked over the edge.
<v Speaker 3>I'm like, I want to come and fish this in morning.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I bet that threw them off. And the little
<v Speaker 1>juvenile did he seem scared? He or she?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, It buried its face under the arm of the
<v Speaker 2>one that was holding it. I want to say the mother,
<v Speaker 2>because that's what I think it was, because they were
<v Speaker 2>all hanging on her or it.
<v Speaker 3>And yeah, they all they were pretty scared. They're scared
<v Speaker 3>of people, I think.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And you didn't feel like they chased you out
<v Speaker 1>of the area whenever you left like nothing was following
<v Speaker 1>you did. Did they just stay there or go their
