Yo, me, it's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do this for
September thirteenth, twenty twenty three. For the next hour or so, let
me help you sort through the world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings Live with
Me Jeff Grubb. Today, a Nintendo director is coming tomorrow, Unity Beefed
It Real Bad and more. But first please join me and welcoming today's co
host a Game Mess Mornings. It's Sean Turbot, Sean McDowell. Everybody,
Sean, how are you doing. Hi, I'm doing good. Hope you
are too. Essay, I am kind of doing Oh, I'm not terrible.
I'm not going to overstate it. I'm not doing great. I didn't
get to sleep. I couldn't fall asleep last night. I probably fell asleep
like five am. And that I don't even want to tell you because I
know, because you know me at this point, and you know what I
do. I just I drink an energy drink at a like eight pm,
so I can ergy drink at around seven pm. And let me tell you,
we're both idiots. Yes, at least you can understand. Yeah.
So yes, before we get off on the rails, here, Sean tell
people about yourself, like what you do because you work with Giant Bomb.
Now you help us out with stuff, that's right. Yeah yeah, and
now that they can see your face and all that, so yeah, tell
them about you can put a face to the name high YouTube comments section.
Sean sha w N. I do work around here a little bit. I
do a social media stuff for the site. Not Nikki's back. They'll be
my partner in crime, right, looking forward to that. But yeah,
if you see all the little edited clips that we put out on social media
on TikTok, Instagram and everywhere else, that's all stuff that I do.
And then you know, I help out with some of our stuff on the
back end, you know, like anytime Jan's busy with something or you guys
are on an event, I do some of the YouTube stuff. Yeah,
usually just the helper, like, oh my god, i'd used another dm
dmc a song, Please fix this. Yeah, the Twisted Metal trailer kind
of screwed us hearing us, Yeah, there can you? Yes, So
yeah, it's been been great having you around helping with stuff. And I'm
glad I got another person for the posse to help out with game mess mornings
as well. But yeah, I got like two hours of sleep. So
that's just kind of what's happening right now. Yeah, I got, I
got, I got more in that, so don't don't worry. I'm I
had to wake up at seven to get the kids ready for school. So
that's and honestly still alone there for a little bit. Yeah, yeah,
till tomorrow night. I am, I was gonna just keep sleeping and if
luckily, Emmy woke me up so we got to school on time, no
problem. Addie doesn't have school today. She's she's had a waffle and then
she had a cereal and some other thing. Now she's asking for ramen noodles
and I'm like, I will make that for you for lunch. Please just
give me a break for a second. Kid, But she's she's having a
day. She just I think what happens is like she's used to having her
sister are all the time, so when she's not and she's got to be
by herself, she's like, I got well, I guess I'll just eat
Like, yeah, I get a kid in the same way. Yeah,
they're around they're around that age. My little sister was around that when she
was that young too. Yes, definitely, all right, you know what,
We got a lot happening, So let's explain what we do here most
weekdays. I, Jeff Greve, will help piece your gaming life back together.
That includes breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting.
For all these topics, I'll get the input of a bona fide expert who
will make me look smart. If you were watching live on twitch welcome,
you can always listen to the show later on podcast feeds by searching for Game
Mess Mornings, or if on the RSS on GiantBomb dot com. You can
also catch the show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube.
All right, we have a lot to get into, so let's start the
morning mess with The next Nintendo Direct has been confirmed for Thursday. This comes
from Tom the Machine Ivan at VGC. The next Nintendo Direct livestream will take
place on Thursday, September fourteenth. Nintendo has confirmed the event will take place
at seven am Pacific time ten am Eastern. There's a whole bunch of other
time zones there. You can do the math and it will feature roughly forty
minutes of information, mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games releasing this winter. Nintendo
said, now we always have like a different, different opinion called again I
Japan company. Japanese companies normally mean the holiday season when they see winter.
Is my understanding, what do you think? I think they're smart enough nowadays
to know what winter means, because we have had some releases in winter that
do you know, end up in January and whatnot. So winter I think
actually means winter nowadays, but it means, you know, as a sensible
person would think the entirety of December into January February, you know, not
just specifically December twenty one. Sure, yes, and when winter actually begins,
yes, that would be crazy to think. I think that absolute maniacs.
No since at all. It's like I think winter starts. When winter
starts, that would just be a complete lunacy. I think. I'm also
with the other guy. That sounds about right. They think they mostly mean
December, but I think January and February there will be some games from that
time zone here. There will probably be games in this direct beyond that as
well, because they always do that as well, right, Yeah, they
always say, you know, we're gonna focus on stuff from this range two
temporary expectations says you know, don't get crazy. Everybody don't expect to switch
too and everything like that, you know, so that might be a little
further out. But they also do then, you know, drop stuff that
is just a year, just a date, even though it's usually a couple
of those things. So we'll probably have a couple of those surprises, right,
I think, so I would expect it. I mean, they're also
in that weird beginning of the transitionary period from the switch to the switch too.
Obviously, I'm not expecting anything from switch to there's like that small little
pebble of a possibility that they reference a new device in like those terms.
I don't think they say the words switched too, or they name of the
system, And if they talk about it in any terms, it will be
there is something coming very soon and we'll talk about it next year or something
like that. But they are still in that transitionary period, so there's gonna
be some weirdness around the messaging where it's like, as games get announced and
they're further out, the obvious question is going to be, well, is
this also going to be on the next device? And I think, I
mean, for some of these games that have rumored for this direct that's a
fair question. I again, I think probably mostly these will all be switch
games, right, Yeah, I'd assume so because currently we're are we still
sitting at switch too? Is probably late next year. I think it's still
what the rumors say. There's like there's updated rumors that's saved sooner than we
were expecting. But but Sean, what I mean what I mean because some
people that would be like last year, So who can say at this point.
I always put my bet on they would just do a repeat and do
March of next year. But yeah, I think March Marcher next year at
the earliest. And even that would be I mean, I'll be they'd be
surprised kind of absolutely. It wouldn't be. It wouldn't be impossible, of
course for them to do that. I just it seems like they would be
ready to get back on the holiday launch schedule because that gives them more time.
They're not in any rush. They have a new Mario system. Not
that the Mario A switch is a reason to like postpone anything with the switch
too, because they've they've launched new devices and then had revisions of their hardware
before, but also because they've done something before it doesn't mean they'll do it
again. It's Nintendo. Just because they have had to pattern in the past
doesn't mean they'll repeat it. And they always like to play things close to
the chest. So that's any switch too, is so Yeah, well we're
getting as any switch toes have probably still quite a ways. I'll maybe we
get the n X of this generation where like we're working on something new with
our partners. That's that's all. We get a night time soon probably,
So the things we do know about for for the winter or well mean and
for coming up between now and winter. Super Mario Brothers. Wonder the Pokemon
DLC is out today? Is that right today? Yeah? You could play
that. I'm I might stream that later if I actually Okay, well we'll
see. I'm definitely playing it though, because yeah, I did really like
Scarlet and Violet laws and all because there were alive them. Detective Detect Detective
Pikachu returns is still coming Super Mario rcg uh. These are the things we
know about obviously. Then there's the rumors. Pioro, a leaker who has
gotten a lot of things right recently, was right about the timing of this,
was talking about puro Pro Okay, Yeah, it's p y O R
Oh. So it's a character from like the Warrio series, right, ps
I, I just never heard maybe Warrios said it before, but yeah,
pro O p r O is Obviously they were talked about the timing of this
long before you know, we heard anything about the timing, but we did
hear earlier this week. But pro has been right on everything so far,
so there's no reason necessarily to doubt them. H And they are hinting at
F zero something have zero related. Maybe a couple things have zero related.
G X is the thing I think is the most likely. There's talks about
zero ninety nine. Then there's stops up some Donkey Kong maybe Donkey Kong versus
Mario, some sort of new take on that. Yeah, well okay,
but either way, I'm like, oh, a lot of that stuff sounds
very exciting. I would be very down for some of that trace memory of
serious. I have no this for and never really touched or even really know
what it is. That's also rumored, so I don't know I by why
I try it, So this would be a good chance if that's it.
Yep, yes, and so it's like hey, and then That's that's what
the Switch does, right. It gives the open franchises to millions of people
who maybe never saw them before. That could be true, especially for a
zero serious. We haven't had a new entry in in almost twenty years.
I'm pretty excited. I'm saying my expectations relatively high for an end of life
Switch direct. This is not going to be an E three direct, but
it could still be a very good one. I don't know where are you
at with that? Yeah, I definitely think so. I mean it's it's
a September one, so you know this is going into the holidays. They're
gonna have stuff to announce. I believe it was last years that was a
bit of a banger. I can't I can never remember these, you know,
I'm a bit of a historian, but not to the level where some
being like, oh yeah, this this and this guy announced in this direct
from this year. I'm like, I can't do that. Man. As
I recalled the September one last year was pretty good. Yeah, maybe maybe
I'm a year off because someone just says the farm once and I don't know,
maybe maybe I'm pretty It definitely was the Farm one. There was like
eight farming, farming games. I think there was also good announcements, but
there was good announcements as well. That's right. Going going into the fall
season, usually they have stuff. I think I really liked it and it
was one of those ones where it's like this one was for me, but
a lot of the directs have been for me recently, so that sounds right.
Yeah, It's been kind of lucky on that side. I'm like waiting
for things to break bad for a couple of years, where like Nintendo does
nothing that I like, but I don't know. I'm getting Super Mario RPG,
so I'm not going to complain anytimes. And like someone just said in
a chat, forty mists is a lot of time to like get some announcement
that you're probably gonna be into, right, what is Yes, so forty
minutes a lot of time to fill. They will definitely talk about stuff that's
already been annouced that's coming upstairs. They will probably have another trailer for Super
Mario Brothers. Wonder I mean, this is this is them getting ready to
sell you things this holiday basically a long trailer. Yes, but there's room
in the forty minute direct for pyeing the sky possibilities beyond like, oh,
they're talking about switch to, what do you like? What do you think?
I'm like, frim, is it time? Is it the prime time?
It could be prime time? Yes? Uh? Maybe I think they
will talk about Metric Prime to remaster. I hope that happens here and just
comes out. That would be really nice. But then that I think they
probably used still take one more direct before they talk about Metric Prime four and
that would probably be early next year. But that's me just being conservative.
Do you think that there's any chance that they mentioned a new Mario Kart or
is that something they save for the switch to that's the next switch thing,
because that's gonna that's gotta be a next switch game talk about switch Yes,
exactly. Personally, I think it's gonna be a Zella blowout and I'll see
why there would be any reason for it to be anything. Okay, yeah,
you can, you can take yoursel to blow out and stuff Mike Manati's
colonoscopy. Uh yeah, I would, Okay, I mean I would very
much like it if they would announce those ports of the of the actually actually,
seriously, where the hell are those things? Again? Like it was
the Metroid was the one where it's like, hey, we we've found out
after it came out. It was in it was submitted to the German regulators
two or three years before it came out, and it's like, Okay,
I've heard about these Zelda ones being done and ready to go for a very
long time. We don't they just I mean, and they have the reasons.
I think that it's like some of it's just their Nintendo. Yes,
but they really like sitting on games these days, and that gives them a
lot of freedom to take the extra time and all these different things. But
at a certain points, I will, do you ever sit on it so
long you just decided to ever put it out? Because that would be weird?
Why would you do that? But sure, hope not? Sure hope
not. Yeah. All right, so yeah, Nintendo Direct tomorrow ten am
Eastern, seven m Pacific. We will be talking over it here at Giant
Bomb. We got it up on our schedule. We kind of knew it
was coming. We purposely told Nintendo to hold it during Mike's Kolonosky so he
would be busy so we don't have to deal with him. So it'll be
great. Everyone's have a good time. Let's move on here. Unity tries
to clarify new install fee plans amid to developer outcry. We talked about this
a little bit on the BombCast. We've got some updates here. This is
from Tom Ivan at the VGC. Once again, Unity has sought to clarify
plans to charge an install fee for games made using its tools, after its
announcements of the move sparked a backlash from developers. Starting in January twenty twenty
four, the new Unity run time fee will apply to games that meet a
minimum minimum revenue threshold and have passed a minimum lifetime install count. The announcement
sparked outrage among some members in the development community, who said the new fee
structure was ill conceived, unfavorable to gamemakers, and could be open to abuse.
Developers questioned why Unity had decided to introduce fees that could penalize them for
placing their game in a big sale or deciding to include it in a charity
bundle or a subscription service like game Pass, after previously seeing that a player
is a player. Installing a game, deleting it, and then installing it
again would result in multiple fees, something which would potentially allow malicious groups to
target specific developers. Unity executive Mark Whitten told AXE that the company had tweaked
the policy so that it would only charge for an initial installation. However,
however, if a user wants to install a game on multiple devices like a
PC a Steam deck, that will count as two installs. Fees for titles
downloaded through the subscription services like game Pass will be charged to distributors like Microsoft
rather than developers. Unity said, and it's like Unity you could just say
anything about I mean, what's that even they're just saying anything run Time These
won't be charged for installations of game demos unless the demo is part of a
package that includes the entire game, such as an early access release. Unity
as also to game developers that qualifying charities will not be charged for installs.
There's I mean, so yeah, like just like the basics here is.
Unity had this idea of every time someone installs the Unity run Time engine that
comes with every Unity based game, they should get a little extra money,
little fee on top of that, right, and if anyone doesn't know what
that means, Basically, that was their way of tracking when a Unity game
is installed, which is their metric for all this, right, and that
is on its face bizarre because it that can be removed from the purchase,
which is like the thing that almost every other company in the space is like,
hey, when the purchase happens, yeah, you're using our tools.
We would like a piece of that. Let's base it on revenue. This
is completely separate, and it's just people installing that something you can't control really
and and and if you can control it, it's it is because you're putting
out these demos and they were going to charge you for that as well.
Now they've backed off, but that that's still that idea of every time someone
installs the game, you getting charged is gonna be awkward and weird, and
a lot of developers still hate it for very good reason, right yeah,
because I mean, first of all, there's not great ways to track it
under you know, the under what they've stayed. This is all bullshit,
Jeff, is what I'm trying to get here. They still have no idea
what the hell I could tell when you were starting the headline? You cannot
get through that way straight faces. This is so dust, like it's a
charge in install. Let come on for installing the game that that's like bizarre
world capitalist bullshit. It is so stupid, like god forbid, you put
your game on SOTH like Goog and it's like, how are you going to
manage that? People are just having offline install or will you track? And
hear you no DRM on Goog games right, So it's like yeah, so
they're not gonna track that, so like how how are you gonna do this?
As basically, just trust us, Bro, That's literally what they're fine
print said. Originally it might still say that is Hey, unity is the
final arbiter of like deciding what you owe us what I thought, I trust
me, Bro. In the fine print. The best thing here, not
me the most, the funniest thing here is like we're gonna make Microsoft pay
us. It's like it is so much the the Mexico is gonna pay for
the wall concept that I can't even I can't believe they're saying that. You
know, Phil and Jimbo were sitting there somewhere just chuckling out that they were
like, no, we're not yet, send us a bill and we will
look at it and point and laugh, which we wanted to look at it.
We will just throw it out with the rest of the junk mail.
This is just a and a lot of this stuff was going to apply retroactively.
I don't even know if they're doing that anymore, retroactively meaning that they
were going to apply this the games that have previously used Unity and have already
come out, and which I'm pretty sure breaks their own ts. What.
You can't change a contract once it's been signed, wouldn't it, like you
the people made games under the certain assumption of this is how the business model
is going to work. They based their decisions on that, and now you're
pulling the rug out from underneath them and changing how that's going to work.
And they don't have a choice because their games already out there. They're on
the hook to customers. Essentially, they can't just be like, we're gonna
dealist the game. I mean, some developers were saying they were going to
dealist the game in January, so download it now, is what they're saying.
Obviously they're being pretty extreme. Most of them are on the hook to
be hey, we put out a game, we oh, we have to
do customer support. We gotta keep this game going as an active project.
And even if it's not an active project, so people can still download of
something that someone's that there's no one in the office working on a game anymore,
and unities like, fuck you pay me, that's it's. It completely
feels like they are just on fire over there and they're looking for any extra
bit of revenue. But I mean, how bad can it possibly be to
do something this Rake Steppie, Right, Yeah, I mean we say that,
boss. So we were talking last night, like they keep doing this
over there, and I can't remember the specifics, but yeah, they keep
making terrible business decisions at Unity and you just have to ask yourself why and
well you kind of said why. But man, this is just the one
of the dumbest stories I've heard in gaming in a very long time. Because
no one's gonna go for this. No one's gonna go for us. I
mean it does are gonna go people away from Unity? Right? Yeah.
Like I will say, the memes were immaculate on Twitter, so I'll sell
all the devs who are like, hey, please buy a game, but
don't install it, kay, thanks? Like the best one was you know
you you wouldn't download a car, but it was you wouldn't install a Unity
game. Yeah, I think that was very good because we're all just client
this is a terrible decision. It's hopefully gets walked back or guess what,
people are just gonna go else are people might go over to Unreal of all
things, Like so I saw some devs talking about that. It's like,
you know, you got bad when people are going to Unreal in the state
that bad engines and are and like developers who would never never have done that
before and have grown up learning Unity and they're like, babe, no,
we're gonna go Unreal and we're gonna give them, Yeah, some pretty expensive
engine to work with for indich Studios And they're no, we're gonna pay that
because that makes more sense. It's better than having to deal with the uncertainty
of Unity's wild decision making. Yeah, you know you talk about walking back.
Clearly that that's what some of this is them already walking it back.
I do think that that the first thing they put out that they knew was
was absurd. I also think they're like, well, let's see what we
can get away with. I don't think the plan was like this is our
like really smart negotiation tactic. It was just kind of like, well,
we'll ask for forgiveness rather than permission. We'll go out there do what we
like. Putt's blast this out there, and then we'll step if we have
to, we'll step back. I almost certain that they knew that they would
have to, although they did say like, oh, we had an internal
pow wow and now we're like we're scrambling to address this. It's like,
no, people internal like that's the story. Like the people internally were like,
hey, this is a bad idea, and like what about like games
on game pass? And then the leadership was like, don't worry about it.
So they had heard these complaints internally before. I just they're like,
well, we're gonna see if we can get away with it, and if
we can, great. If we can't, then we'll step back. And
who cares. And that's about as much as they thought about it, because
they obviously could not have thought about it anymore than that. Real quick,
here did you say this? Because Alexei puts so a chat. I didn't
look into it, but apparently some Unity bosses sold stock days before us,
And now did you look into that at all? I saw a circin Toto,
who is an analyston Japan, who's really sharp guy he He pointed out
that four years now, actually Unity's stock has gone down, but John Ricatello
has continually sold at very opportune times and to the tune of like four hundred
and fifty million dollars half a billion dollars for John Ricatello running Unity into the
fucking ground. I mean, I don't just the whole system's fucked up,
Sean, I don't know what drives me insane that we have to keep coming
back and story, not even like, oh, the same kind of people,
the same person, yes, Jesus christ Okay, uh yeah, well,
well we'll come back to the story. I'm sure there will be more
from it if you want to, Like, if you're interested, if you're
a developer and you're trying to stay on top of this, I do recommend
Axios. Steve Mantilo's reporting on It's been very good. You can keep track
there and Straport. He's also very easy to keep to keep up with because
they do that great bullet point style. I like x Seals a lot,
all right. Moving on Xbox Series sn X UK sales jumped seventy six percent
on Starfield launch. This comes from Christopher Dring at g I Upiz. I
hung out with Christopher at at Pax a little bit. He is a nice
guy. He waited in the Nintendo March line and he was like, I'll
get you something. I don't thank you so much, dring and then and
then I sat down and talked to him a little bit at the hotel and
he was just great to hang out with. The smart guy. The launch
of Starfield in a new version of the Xbox Series s significantly boosted sales of
Microsoft consoles. GfK Data reveals that Xbox Series SNX sales jumped seventy six percent
week one week for the seven days ending September two. GfK Games Games Boss
Dorian Block says that the week is the biggest this year so far for Xbox
Series SNX hardware sales in the UK. Meanwhile, the week ending September ninth
is currently the second best week. Yeah, that's right, they've started.
They're having two good weeks in the world because they were up last week and
now the up even more so. This is what we expected, right,
Sean. This is the way it should work if you're launching a big game
that everyone cares about, right right, literal system seller, that's the way
these things work, like people who are on the fence, this is where
they get in the door, like they were saving their money and or anything.
It was so like, yeah, it makes sense, I guess.
I mean there's still like question marks, like we'll have long term effects,
but we can't know. You got to start somewhere though, And Xbox was
struggling hardware in terms of hardware. You know, Xbox is a brand hard
to pin down in terms of how it's doing. Because I had Fill on
the couch at SGF and we I brought up like the hardware sales and how
things were kind of trending downward. It's like, you know what, we're
kind of we are looking past that a little bit. We're growing really fast
on PC. In my mind, I'm like thinking, yeah, but the
ecosystem seems to be the play here, and you could control the ecosystem so
much more on a console. So like, isn't every console sold more effective
than getting someone into the PC ecosystem where sure they might get game pass,
but if they're buying games, they're probably still buying games on Steam. But
you know what Microsoft games are on Steam as well, which I think is
the play here. That they literally want to be everywhere, not just every
hardware platform. They want to be wherever you are playing games. They want
to have like some you know, finger in the pie there, and that
is more and more effective the more and more games they have that people really
want to be buying and I and that's they're on the pathway to doing that.
If they were super worried about the ecosystem on PC, you're right,
they would be exclusive to the Microsoft Store on Windows, which they tried and
it didn't work that well, that's why always feel better than anyone. It
doesn't work. So yes, they are exactly like they have bethested now bethested
games on Steam, and they h they're gonna have Blizzard. Those Blizzard games
gonna be on Steam. They're already moving the Steam even before Microsoft is in
charge. So yes, But you know, Xbox hardware was down twenty three
percent year over year, up from like year to date in the UK,
and that like it's very easy to explain that people just didn't feel like a
lot of games were getting them to to that system, right like, but
now Starfields here the stories changed, and if they can kind of keep this
momentum going, the system should do just fine, right right, Yeah,
I mean it's serving the purpose that they want to serve, which is getting
the Xbox ecosystem as a stands now as a service into the hands of the
people who only buy the box that they put under their TV. Yes,
you know, Starfield is like you said, Starfield is driving that it's gained
those boxes in the hands of people who wouldn't normally buy them. I do
know someone who bought a Series S just to play Starfield. They were holding
off and they were thinking of, like, you know, a PS five
for a long time, I'm saying it for the PS five and they're like,
you know what, Bethesda, person, I'll save a little money,
I'll give Series S. I'll play Starfield on game Pass. I'm like,
yeah, you're that's a good cost effective way to do these things. So
absolutely, I think I think we are going to see a lot of that
here as Starfield continues to you know, per me well as Starfield contused to
have mainstream penetrations. As some might say, never live these things down forever?
Can I ask? Do you know which version of the Xbox Series S
that they bought? Because there's now two of them, there's the five hundred
fibyte model and the one tarabyte model. Well, they bought the cheaper one
because fifty bucks is fifty bucks and he could just walk into a best Buy
and grab it, so it was a shelf for sure. I didn't have
to think about it at all whatsoever, just one end did that and then
subscribe to game Pass when I got home. So uh. The uptick in
sales, according to GfK, is partially due to the launch of the Xbox
Series one one terabyte or Xbox Series S one terabyte edition, which accounted for
twenty four percent of all Xbox consoles sold during the week. That new version
is fifty dollars more fifty pounds more in the UK, but the jump in
Xbox console sales was also to do the launch of Starfield obviously, as as
a result, the standard Xbox Series X console posted a forty six percent increase
in sales for the week ending September two in the UK. It is currently
the best week this year for Series X and the and the following week.
Indeed, September nine is the fourth best week for X. In between is
Week one in Week six which were earlier. We're early year blips so yes,
this series X the more expensive one, people also buying a lot of
those. Yeah, I think Starfield will kind of have a couple more bumps
here, Like as we get into the holidays, they and they could always
end up doing a bundle with this thing. I expect they'll probably do that,
maybe next holiday or even as we get like next summer or something like
that. They could do that and have that ready to go, especially like
as people get excited for a new Nintendo it's like, well, what can
we do to make the Xbox more appealing? And putting Starfield in there.
It's a really strong thing because again, as regardless of like people's opinions,
which are widely varying on the game, it is still something that people have
a real curiosity in, and that is actually maybe that's actually what a system
seller is. It's not just like, oh, this is a premier experience
like that is unassailable. Obviously that helps, but something that like everyone's talking
about is still going to move systems right right. And by the way,
speaking of quick Starfield update, I am now over twenty hours in and I
got to the couple of big plot twists and I was like, oh,
you know, it took me like twenty hours a get here, but all
right, we're actually starting to get interesting. It's interesting, right, Yeah,
I find it very compelling. Uh, it's i'll talk to you off
fair because because it is a huge spoiler if we talk about it, but
there's like huge fos involved in like how you get there too. Yeah.
Yeah, I have thoughts on it and how it was done, but I
think at least it's gained to an interesting place, right, it's keeping me
going. There's a game that otherwise might have dropped. Yes, I kind
of like once I kind of got the hooks on that, I'm like,
oh, this is going to pull me all the way through. Uh.
There's some familiar stuff in there in terms of like what other media has worked
on recently, but the possibility of what you can do with that it is
very different in this game than like what it means in like a movie or
something like that. So very interesting. I've been I've been playing too much
Armored Course six. I'll get back to that once Steph gets home and I
have time to get back on the PC. All right. Next story iPhone
fifteen Pro will run native versions of Triple A titles. This comes from Sophie
McAvoy at GIDP is Triple A. Games like Assassin's Creedmarrage and the remake of
Residuable four will soon be available to play on the iPhone fifteen Pro. Announced
during Apple's wonder Lust event, a new A seventeen Pro chip has enabled support
for gaming for games previously only available on console. On PC, the A
seventeen Pro chip supports hardware accelerated ray tracing, metal FX, up scaling,
HDR displays, and variable refresh rates. As a result, the iPhone fifteen
Pro can run games such as a Residue, Evil Village, and Death Stranding.
The iPhone fifteen Pro is also compatible with the Advanced Controllers. Who cares,
Okay, sean for me like my first gut reaction here is boy.
That means the switch has got to be like right there right and then like
I of course I have I like stumbled two seconds later. Well, the
iPhone comes out every year, is a thousand dollars, starts at a thousand
dollars. There's no way in like Nintendo's gonna u in Video's most recent ship.
We kind of know based on the rumors they're not going to be doing
that, But the things that they're talking about here are still a lot of
the stuff that like could be the magic sauce and a switch, the upscaling.
I wouldn't expect Apple's middle effects upscaling to be as good as d LSS,
and but it's still gonna get similar results and enable similar kinds of games.
And then hardware accelerated raid tracing. You can just leave that out out
of the door on the switch too. I don't need that. You could
just leave that outside. We're fine, But I mean this is it's cool
for me on There's no way I'm ever going to play these games on my
iPhone. But I know there are the guy who never plays games on his
phone. As we've discussed before, that's a difference between us is that I've
actually been trying to get more into it because I think there are enough games
available that I bought a Backbone recently just to tryout. Okay, so I
was games. Are you playing games that were made for other stuff that can
run on a phone, cloud streaming or whatever? Are you streaming from your
console? Like? What like? What are the o So that's the thing
I will say. On Android, the support is worse than iOS unfortunately,
and you know, I have a pixel, but when games are designed around
the controller, you know, it does feel like I'm basically just holding like
a switch light kind of. It actually is a good experience. There's there's
a weird amount of games not being optimized for it, though, but I
know on iOS things are better. And I think this is cool because if
the games are natively designed around control or support, you basically are just playing
a souped up switch at that point. And I think it's important to in
case people don't know why like this is happening at all. It's not like
Apple immediately made a big push for a gaming on mobile specifically here, Apple's
been streamlining all of their silicon into ARM processors. So basically the processor that's
on your phone, even the highest end I don't know if it's I think
it's still the highest end. Mac pros and stuff use this uh silicon.
The Apples, yeah, use the same process basically, and then they just
scale up. They made it in a way where they can they can duct
duct tape two GameCubes together and stack some of these chips and it will get
you more horsepower. So that's what this means is that you can also trickle
down to the phones, and that's what we're seeing here. So that way,
you know, games that get port to Mac now can just run on
your phone, which is kind of cool and it's kind of something that I
wish other ecosystems would have. But that's why you're gonna see stuff like a
residue of Village or dust Rag run on phone, and you know they're just
like, yeah, just slap a backbone on there, or like, you
know, connect your dual sense to your iPad. It's because it's all in
the same eco system. It's all running on roughly the same silicon. Yeah,
yeah, and that's kind of cool. I think front texts for sure.
Perspective, right, I mean a Apple's hard Apple's chip story has been
I mean, obviously they've been really strong on mobile for a very long time,
but then taking those those chips, those systems on a chip and then
replacing the Intel chips inside the Mac books and stuff like that with the M
one and now the M two. Uh, that was very cool stuff.
And we know it's especially good because Apple makes everything specifically for its processors,
which means that you get even better performance because that that native sort of run
time is so much better than where it's kind of generic sort of stuff happening
on X eighty six chips, and that's like, you know, yeah,
technically they're more powerful, but they don't run, they're not getting as close
to the metal or whatever, and so you're not getting the quite as good
a performance. Or if you or if you use Adobe Premiere on on both
these things, it's like, yeah, that it's going to run better on
a more powerful X eighty six chips, sure, but if you go use
the thing that's made for Apple stuff, they're you know, what is the
film I can remember what their film adding stuff is called, but it's like
if you use that, actually it's way faster. Yeah. Yeah, so
yeah, this is cool, but you're I mean, also, the way
you described what happened here is true of Apple and gaming, where it's like
it's just happened sort of by accident because they're not they don't care too much
into the seve jobs and all that, didn't care about gaming. Yeah,
so we just I ended up here naturally, and so it is just a
cool thing for this audience, because god knows, I ain't spend like twelve
dollars on the phone. Jeff, Well, yeah, I mean I got
a Pixel seven Pro and that was it was pretty expensive. But I'm not
gonna be upgrading anytime soon. But I am. The thing here that it
does make me wonder is you know, there was that Bobby Connick quote from
a couple months ago during the trial where he's like, I don't care about
cloud gaming because we're gonna in a couple of years, we're gonna have devices
that are gonna be able to run all these games locally and they're gonna be
phones and you're not gonna need to stream it from the cloud. And we
are here, We're here. It happened exactly people did. People didn't believe.
But this is like what the industry has been hanging towards. And you
know, I think a lot of hardcore gamers don't want to believe, like,
oh, mobile gaming is not as big as console gaming where you're talking
about, but the numbers are there, and yes it is, so they
just yeah, I don't know. It's it's a weird perspective where we're saying
at but this is cool tech, noneless. I think it's the will we're
getting at the end of the day, exactly yeah. And while I won't
be playing these games on my phone, I definitely know a lot of people
will. I will't be surprised when I here, Like a couple of years,
I'm working with some young new gaming jaming journalist, a gaming journalist who
was like, no, yeah, I grew up playing Assassin's Creed. Mirrage
on the iPhone was my first Assassins Creeded. Like, oh, okay,
all right, well shure, I'll just go diet. I guess all right.
Square Ennis has lost almost excuse me, almost two billion in value since
Final Fantasy at Pannacy sixteens launch. This comes from James Bachelor at gedip is
another guy I met at PAX was very nice. Square Knicks has lost nearly
two billion in its value since the launch of Final Fantasy sixteen as its shares
have declined and a key long term investor has reduced its steak in the publisher.
The company's share play price has following by twenty eight percent since its peak
of seven thousand, five hundred and forty yen in June, specifically June twenty
two days before Final Fantasy sixteen launched, and it fell to five thousand,
three hundred and eighty one yen on Monday, its lowest price since the year
began. Square Nix said alongside its financials it's latest financial results, the Final
Fantasy sixteen did not meet its its sales goals and also reported a sixty six
percent drop in profit. According to Bloomberg, these have these This has resulted
not only in the share price decline, but also several analysts cutting their price
target for the publisher and Sumitomo Mitsui. Is that right? Sumtomo Mitsui Trust
Asset Management a long term investor out there, and Squaring Next reducing its holdings,
and the publisher Silcon Squares Western Studios do this, Yes, exactly right.
That's who they would always blame in the past. Turns out the company
that Green lets h the Quiet Man and balland Wonder and all that. Yeah.
Maybe not a great company in terms of making a lot of great decisions,
but Final Fantasy sixteen does not feel like the problem here. I guess
they were maybe hoping it was some magic solution, some magic bullet. It
was never gonna be that, No, especially not just on PS five.
Y'all come on, exactly right. So it's I just don't know. I
don't know, I guess why Square keep putting themselves in this position, but
they can't help it. I think that's just who they are. I For
me, it's like, Okay, we know Final Fantasy fourteens can continue to
be a big thing. It's it's ever growing. I expect with the next
expansion it will be the biggest Final Fantasy fourteen has ever been. But that
growth is pretty predictable at this point, so that means it's baked into the
price of Squaring Nix's stock, where it's like people like, no, we
know, Final Fantasy fourteen a success and will continue to be what's next?
And the answer was supposed to be Final Fantasy sixteen at least that's how they
set it up. And I think it did very well for a PS five
yea and everything we know, like all the numbers are there. That's say
it's performing well all things considered. But you can't expect, you know,
a console exclusive in what is still broadly a niche genre to like light the
world on fire. You're not going to have your FF seven all over again.
It's just it's not if we're not we're not there unless you like some
lightning doesn't usually strike in the same spot twice, unless God knows it didn't
with thirteen time talking about oh god that Yeah, but they just need to
rain in their expectations as so baffling that they never do that. They they're
always just like, we need to be the base on Earth again. It's
like square, what are you doing? Yeah? They all there. This
is the same company who also then does the Blunderbuss effect and just shoots out
like twenty games at the end of the year. Yes, last that was
still like so weird. And I'm because I remember we were like I was
kind of starting at Giant bo I'm doing a bunch quick looks. I'm like,
man, there's like seven springs, like like mid size games are smaller,
all coming out at the same time, basically like what's going. I'm
like, Hey, they're putting out a lot of games. That's a good
I would have asked them, hey, you should put out a lot of
games. And then they just don't promote them, talk about them. They
don't. I just they don't know how to reach their audience. Bad business.
It's just bad business. And I have no idea where it stems from.
It has to be somewhere at the top man, and I mean to
be pretty bold about the PlayStation partnership is not helping them. It isn't.
I mean it listened. The money up front clearly a boon, like,
yeah, take your money where you can get it. I get that.
But PlayStation when it speaks to its audience where they it's state of play or
it's it's it's showcases or whatever, Yeah, they're going to reach that.
But those people are looking for the sony games. That's what they care about,
and it's yeah, and it's it's it's a little bit different than I
think, even like if a partnership with Nintendo which is not probably not on
a table, Nintendo's not going to pay you up front. But like,
the reason people want to be in and directs so bad it is because when
Nintendo talks to their audience and say, hey care about these games, they
have a pretty good track record of getting people to care about those games,
a track record of like one hundred and twenty or whatever, a million consoles
on the wild where people are just gonna fall ask backwards into your game exactly,
and that's uh so it feels like a strategic air among a sea of
strategic airs. Over over at Square Enix, and they have a new CEO,
so maybe things will begin to shift in terms of how they look at
these things going forward. But also it might be hard not to take that
money from Sony going for it as well, So we'll see. But you
know they've they brought Philip Spencer on stage stage. Not that like Xbox is
some answer here. Clearly that is a whole other thing that would be probably
even less effective than PlayStation. But yeah, finding ways to maybe build like
a Final Fantasy six team that can run on the switch to maybe that's where
you need to be looking So I bet that would you fifteen pocket edition.
Let's go baby, Hell yeah. Dyeing Light two developers respond to micro transaction
backlash. This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. Dying Light two recently
call a lot of flak online when it's latest update introduced dyeing light points and
in game currency that costs real money and is used to buy cosmetic bundles and
other small items in game. The annoying thing is you get five hundred dyeing
light points for free, and yet a lot of items at the shop cost
guess how much five hundred and fifty points. The actual man, You've got
to spend real money. It's a cheap tactic. One gamers have had enough,
have had enough of and have a sense review bombed the game on Steam.
In response, tech Land has responded over on Twitter, saying that we
are gathering your feedback and hear your concerns. As far as we understand,
a big part of the frustration stems from the pricing of the bundles and the
resulting left over to dying light points. So here's the quote. To figure
out this issue, We've already started working on a couple of solutions proposed by
the community. For example, we're reviewing the mechanics of adding an option to
purchase individual items from the from the existing bundles. This way, if you
have any spared dyeing light points, you could spend them on different bundles.
Why not use machines katana while while cosplaying as a chicken? Okay, whatever,
now they're just talking nonsense. Dying Light two feels like one of those
ones where it's needed to be a certain thing that Dying Light one on,
which was like this perennial sales hit on Steam where every time there was a
sale, people bought a ton of Dying Light, and Dying Light two does
not necessarily feel that way. To me, it felt like a big Triple
A product release where it comes out and it's a big thing in the first
couple of weeks, and then it fades into the background and people sort of
stopped talking about it. And to me, that's like comes down to the
fundamental I don't think Dying Light two is as appealing as Dying Light one,
where Dying Light one where had a really great darkness mechanic where it felt very
scary and very thrilling to be out there in night and it was like pitch
black, and then din Light two was kind of like it's it's it's a
it's dim at night, and but you like, we put a ton of
other stuff in there and we got a really bad story and said, Okay,
I kind of have less sparkly feelings coming out of Dying Light two than
I had with Dying Light one. And it feels like maybe that's spread across
that community a little bit, and Dying Light two is not doing the same
thing for them that they that Dying Light one was, so now they got
to figure out new ways to create revenue to make this makes sense. And
then they do something like this and it feels kind of similar to the un
unity thing, right, where like, let's see what we can get away
with, right. I was gonna say it does shooting themselves in the foot
here, Like, wow, I haven't heard that yet today. Uh.
God, just people making dumb decisions all over damn place. I don't know
it's in the water or something, Jeff, I don't know what the hell's
going on now. Yeah, there's this the contentious relationship between gamers and developers
that that's always brilliant. And it feels like it's like comes in waves and
there's high tide and low tide with it. Uh. And right now it's
like developers, we're like, we we just gotta milk these these idiots for
everything we can get out of them. It's like, oh okay. Uh.
And to be clear, it's probably the execs at these clearly, no
nobody actually like in the chain of command. Yes, usually that's usually how
it works. Yes, I bet Dying Light two is is doing fine.
It has its fans and and uh, but if they're trying to get it
get extra money out of it, this is usually probably, this probably will
work. It probably will get some people to spend more money. But it's
like, you know Mario Kart, that Mario Kart Tour. We've talked about
that on one of these shows recentlyngths were like that had a really bad gotcha
mechanic in it and was making a million dollars per month, and then they
took it out and they lost that million dollars per month, but people were
happier, and now the game's shutting down. It's like, okay, is
they like what is the balance here? And then there is no balance.
You just kind of have to play it by year. Yeah. The SIMS
five is confirmed to be a free download going forward, Like, once that
game comes out, that's going to be a free to play game or free
to download. I guess free to play might imply some other stuff here.
This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. Back at the end of June,
we reported that the SIMS five, previously known as Project Renee, was
heading towards a free to play direction. Now, in a new blog post
from EA, this has been confirmed. This means that when Project rene is
ready and fully open to players, you will be able to join play and
explore it without a subscription, core game purchases, or energy mechanics. We
want playing to be super easy for you to invite or join friends and experience
new features, stories, and challenges. When the SIMS five does launch,
though, this doesn't mean the end for the SIMS four. We will continue
to suport both at the same time, and we'll plan to bring more exciting
content to the simsfore community for the foreseeable future, writes EA. While being
free to download it might sound like a blessing, it will likely mean that
most of the content for the SIMS five will be locked away behind paywalls,
and that's where my mind jumps for first year as well. Like the SIMS
four has this sort of business model of hey, people were buying SIMS four,
and then we're going to sell you three tiers of content. I can't
remember what the names are, but there's like the biggest mansions, there's like
the packs, and then there's like these little kits that have some like cosmetics
centered or whatever, and there are dozens of these things. And so you
talk to SIMS fans and they're like, we have accepted this. This is
how it works. Where we get it it's a lot we do. We
know we're being exploited, but we're pretty happy because when we get exploited for
our money, they do give us a lot of extra stuff. And by
the by the time the game has been out for a couple of years,
we could sort of play this game however we want. They're gonna change that
for SIMS five, like this is gonna be a fundamentally different thing. And
you could see, I mean I could see why because that an audience that
was okay with being exploited that way, maybe you can exploit them even more.
And E a kind of needs to do that. But I mean,
obviously they risk poison well here it's what they're best at. Yes, but
they i mean, they risk poisoning the well, right, They need SIMS
to be an ongoing concern. Yeah, they need to be their f F
fourteen because that you know, they can they can make on other blunders,
but as long as they have consistent screen of revenue through something like the SIMS,
you know, that'll keep them going. So they need these service games
to do well. And yeah, this seems like now listen, you know,
if Lucy was here, I'm sure she would tell you all about the
SIMS, because god knows, I don't know anything about the SIMS. When
he said SIMS freeze confirmed to be free to down tho, I was like,
y'all paying for the SIMS still, really, SIMS four is free to
download now? So the version I heard you two talking about the last time,
it's what it's become free to play now, or your free and free
to download, and then all the expansions are you still have to buy those?
Yes? Okay, gotcha? Gotcha? Oh no, I haven't touched
the SIM since I was a kid, Jeff, so I want to play.
This is definitely not appealing in me. I mean, hey, you
know what I heard. It's gonna be free to download, so hey,
maybe have a good opportunity to do that exactly, all right. A couple
more stories here, like a Dragon studio, do you go go Toku?
So I know that? All right? Hell yeah, let's go. It's
holding a product showcase next week. This is from Tom Ivan at VGC.
Tom the Machine Ivan, of course, like a Dragon developer, Yo Gottoku
Studio will hold a digital product showcase next week. The RGG Summit Fall twenty
twenty three edition will take place on September nineteenth at eight pm Pacific time eleven
pm Eastern. The presentation will be viewable on publisher Sega's Twitch and YouTube channels.
Two Like a Dragon games we're announced during last September's RGG Summit Fall twenty
twenty two edition. Like a Dragon Guide in The Man Who Erased His Name
is a spinoff which sheds light on Kiru Kazama's perspective the events of Yakuza six
The Song of Life leading up to Like a Dragon eight. The action adventure
game, will be released on November nine, twenty twenty three, for the
PS five, p S, four xboxes systems, and PC. The next
mainline game in the series, Like a Dragon eight, is coming to PS
five. Ichuban Kasuga as as dual protagonists with With With Also Kiu will be
a big part of that game. Those are what we know about there.
Probably will have big updates on both of those games because they're leading into one.
The other one's coming out next year. But they have had a lot
of like Yakuza Like a Dragon stuff going on at the same time, so
it wouldn't be surprised if yet another new thing where is like, we're like,
what's a good space for this series to move in. I have no
idea, because they can do whatever. Hell as they moving into turn based
rpg. Huh, it's like the possibility space for this franchise is completely open.
Like they could do a kart racer. They could, they could do
it, Yeah, exactly, yak kart radis now. It's beautiful, no
change, nothing, you got it in one, Yeah, and I would
be down with that. I think what they need is a like even like
a Mario Party game or something like that, like that would be That's right.
They did do cart racing already, it's a mini game in seven,
everybody, Yes, I think I did do that in seven. Yes,
that's like why, like it occurred to me. But like, what they
need is a fun way to like kind of like the Smash Brothers thing where
hey, everyone learns about most of these Nintendo franchises through Smash Brothers first,
and it's like, now I know about Captain Falcon, and now I know
about all these Fire Emblem characters, so I guess I'll check out Fire emblom.
Uh. So I think if they could have something like that with Yakuza,
where it's like a friendly, open game that that's just kind of fun
and interesting. We can put knights in here and stuff or well, yeah
that could be cool too, that would be interesting as well. But I
don't know this. This studio is kind of they're on such a hot streak
that they can get away with almost anything, and I hope that they kind
of take that ball and run with it, like, let's just do anything.
Obviously, right now, they're most probably most focused on getting these next
two games out though. Yeah, series is wild and they get wild.
Hope they do, because it's fun when they're wild. Last Story Xbox Game
Pass Corps. All thirty six games have been revealed for tomorrow's launch. This
is from Darren Bontheus at game Spot. There's a lot of games here.
I'm just gonna I'll bread through them real quick. Among us, Astroneer Celeste,
Dead Cells, Descenders, Dishonored two, Doom Eternal Standard Edition, Fable
Anniversary, Fallout four, Fallout seventy six, Firewatch Ports, The Horizon four,
Gang Beast Gears five, Golf With Your Friends, Grounded, Halo five,
Guardians, Halo Wars two, Hell Blades, Similar, Sacrifice, I
Can Never Remember, Sinua, Human Fall Flat Inside Limbo, Orion, The
Will of the Whisps, Overcooked two, pay Day two, Crime Wave Edition,
Powerwah Simulator, Psychonauts, To Slay, the Spire, Spirit, Fair
Farewell Editions, Stardoo Valley, State of Decay two, Juggernaut Edition, Subliminal,
The Elder Scrolls Online, Teenage Mutant, Ninja, Turtles, Shredders,
Revenge, Unpacking, and Vampire Survivors. Obviously no Starfield in there. That.
The whole idea here is like, this is the replacement for Xbox Gold,
Xbox Live Gold games with the Gold, yes, and so you instead
you're gonna get this like smaller library of select games, and then they if
you want like the newest releases, you do have to move up here.
You're gonna have to move up to Ultimate. So, which with the way
that Games with Gold was going, this feels like an upgrade. It's still
it's still dumb to charge people for online multiplayer, I say, as a
PC player, But but yeah, well you're going here is actually, you
know, kind of solid. Actually, I remember like now years ago talking
about, hey, Xbox Live Gold will go away eventually, And when I
was talking about that, it was like they were still charging for free to
play online multiplayer. I'm like, so, I'm like, that will definitely
go away, and then they'll figure out the pain for online multiplayer will who
knows how that will actually change or if it will change, but the free
to play will definitely go away. So Xbox Live Gold is going to have
some major changes. And then of course there was a big backlash because they've
tried to raise the price on Xbox Live Gold and so they make good was
like, we're gonna make free to play stuff free right now, and they
were going to do it obviously before Halo Guart Halo Infinite came out, because
that was gonna be free to play game. There was no way that they
were going to keep charging for you stop you from playing that. Uh okay,
that does it for the news, Sean, I squeezing one quick thing.
Yeah, what's up? We actually got this breaking during the show,
we talked about it. I thought I would bring it up over on Steam
on the official Starfield page Starfield Updates and Mods Support update, and I'll just
go through the bullet points here. But things that are coming in the future
will be brightness and contrast controls, HDR calibration, FLV slider, d LSS,
super ultra wide support and then eat Bun for food. Jeff, this
is basically the hey things that should have been in the game already. Percent.
Yes, these are like crossing off the known shippables, Like these things
were breaking the game and we liken, so we're gonna ship like with these
things that with like all of them turned off in the back end, and
now they just went in the I and I file and now they're enabling most
of them, I think exactly. Yeah, I saw so in the chat
say there wasn't a brightness adjustment. No, there wasn't. It's the stupidest
thing. It looks so washed out on my screen. The HDR was broken,
and like they were like I remember Dan was like emailing them in the
review period like hey, what's going on here. We're like, well,
we haven't heard anything about this, and like I try to turn on once
and it was so blown out and then we'll fuck that. I just have
to turn hdru it doesn't it doesn't have proper HDR and PC uses AUTOHDR belt
into Windows. Right, Okay, they didn't even implement the console version on
Yeah, no that like a lot of things were missing. Yeah, it
looks like in this upcoming update. That's where we're finally a game. That's
something I'll look forward to me DLSS, So like the DLSS coming in this
new update relatively soon. Is that what they're saying. I didn't read through
the entire thing, but they say, okay, after that, expect a
regular interval of patches that have top community requested features. So this is going
to be a rollout over time, right, But let's be real. Some
that stuff is an easy fix, so some of us stuff will be in
there. Similarly, I wouldn't be surprised if, in like the next hot
fix, we see the FOV slider, because I hope I'm important to an
FPS yep, especially on PC, people are very very crazy about that.
Actually, okay, let's see here. I had a pull from yesterday.
Actually, before I get to that, shann way people where they can find
you on the internet and all that good stuff. Surety, and find me
on the artist formerly known as Twitter as Turboshawn underscore and on Twitch and everywhere
else as turboshan Shawn if you want to see one. I'm up too.
Professionally, I host a game as Jeopardy with this knucklehead. I pay I'm
point in the right way, and Mike Manotti and one of our friends from
the industry. We do trivia every month. It's always a fun time.
I guess you may know Dan Ry, Kurt ben Hanson, and Blessing from
Kind of Funny. A lot of cool people have been on a show,
so I appreciate people checking that out. And of course, as mentioned at
the top of this show, I do social media stuff for Giant Bomb,
so check out everything that we post on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, threads,
Blue Sky, whatever the hell we are, you can find us there.
That's right. People always come to us and like, well, I
listened to Gamess Jeopardy and I know all the answers, so I'm gonna beat
you, and I'm like, oh, you just wait until you're there and
see what it's say. I'd like, yeah, you saw that. If
you saw a video that Jan put up yesterday, I might just screaming about
trivia and at Nintendo World or whatever. That's just Gamess Jeopardy. Yep,
that's all. That's the entire show. Yes, Enhancing beat Us, Imron
con beat us one of the times he was on. That's it right,
Well, I mean Dan Ryker wins everything, but Outside stop giving him what
he wants. All the poll from yesterday, do you think Elder Scroll six
comes out on this generation of consoles? Eight percent say yes, thirty four
percent and say yes, but crossga with the next console, and fifty eight
percent say no. I'm like, maybe CrossGen, but I vote a no
actually here, I think maybe like retroactively CrossGen, but it's far enough out
that it's probably it's probably next gen only I don't see that game coming out
terribly soon. Yeah, that's right. I got their Crade machines back there,
so it's twenty twenty three right now. If it takes five years,
which I expected, it would probably be like five or six years. But
if it takes five years, that would put it twenty twenty eight, which
is the year I expect Microsoft and Sony to launch next gen consoles right like
today, So I think it would be maybe cross gen. But I did
vote no here because I think probably six years. All right. A new
poll that will be going up on YouTube dot com slash giant Bomb under the
community tab, but you can vote on that right now is do you see
yourself playing games like Assassins screen barage or residy before we make on your phone
yes or no. You can vote in there, curious to see what this
audience says. It will be scientific and this will be I'm sure this will
apply to the general audience as well. Uh, of course what we got
speaking of a giant bomb we got uh Blake Club happening later today. Dana
is still playing Sonico six. Sho, we gotta I gotta figure out a
game from Mike to play. I got ideas, you know, I'm saying
maybe ideas that we said on the air that we could do that you don't
want to do, but we should do, and then we might have to
resort to some of those definitely. But yes, we're still playing bad games
every week. We're gonna get back to Sonico six. That's gonna be real
fun. Uh. Let's see, later this week we'll have voicemail dump Truck.
Of course, we'll probably be playing some Mortal Kombat. That game will
be out in early access here later this week. So look out our Nintendo
Direct tomorrow as of this, that's right tomorrow, ten am Eastern seventy and
Pacific. We've taught, we will be taught talking over the Nintendo Direct.
I think Jam plans to get up early, so you should get up early
with us and watch along to show support for him, for it's such a
good boy. And if he doesn't, I'll take care of everything. Don't
work he Everyboddy Okay, yeah, let's get out of here. Sean,
thank you so much for spitting today talk with me about video games, man,
I really appreciate it. Thank you, Jeff, always a pleasure,
and thank you everybody for watching. You're the best audience in gaming. Until
next time, have a good one, take care of yourself and goodbye.
