<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, Welcome to Game Mess Mornings, presented by Almost <v Speaker 1>went with the old ad There, presented by Jeff Greb, <v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for <v Speaker 1>tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be talking about <v Speaker 1>achievements on switch to and is Silent Hilf going to <v Speaker 1>be a real good video game? We'll find out it's <v Speaker 1>gonna be a good one because we have Jason Fonelli <v Speaker 1>on the show. Jason, how are you doing? <v Speaker 2>I'm doing pretty good, man. I cannot lie things things feel. <v Speaker 2>I feel like I'm back in my own skin again <v Speaker 2>after a couple of weeks of real hazy mental days. <v Speaker 2>I feel like I'm productive. I feel like I'm I'm <v Speaker 2>raring to go. I don't know if it's because I <v Speaker 2>have a trip coming up next week. I don't know <v Speaker 2>if it's because my sports teams are lifting my spirits. <v Speaker 2>I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I'm good. <v Speaker 2>I'm in a good headspace, man, a good mindset. Things <v Speaker 2>are good. How about you? <v Speaker 1>I heard I have an upset tummy. I'm having tummy <v Speaker 1>shoes this morning. Took some pepto and UH should be fine. <v Speaker 1>But we'll find out if I'm not. You know, I <v Speaker 1>think it'd be real funny if I had to run <v Speaker 1>out of the middle of this episode to go use <v Speaker 1>the toilet. So I'm going to risk it. <v Speaker 2>We'll see if there's any roadblock stories. I think I <v Speaker 2>got you. <v Speaker 1>But OK, yeah, all right, just set them up with <v Speaker 1>the roadblocks that I can walk away. Hell yeah, but. <v Speaker 2>Are you like me when you so? Pepto cures my <v Speaker 2>stomach issues too, but not for the way it's supposed to. <v Speaker 2>I drink pepto and I immediately empty the contents of <v Speaker 2>my stomach because I hate the taste of it. <v Speaker 1>That works for you, Yeah, no, that that would actually <v Speaker 1>be more useful. Maybe, No, I'm I'm fine. I can <v Speaker 1>drink that stuff and it calms the tummy down a <v Speaker 1>little bit, So we'll see. I think that it was <v Speaker 1>just like I might honestly might be emotional stuff. Might <v Speaker 1>be like, oh, just dealing with a lot a little <v Speaker 1>bit of stress, and it's getting to the tummy a <v Speaker 1>little bit. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, it happens. <v Speaker 1>We'll just we'll settle and relax talk about video games <v Speaker 1>with Jason Finelli. I think we'll be all right. How <v Speaker 1>are you doing? Otherwise you go you and jan talking <v Speaker 1>a lot about magic when I came in here. Anything <v Speaker 1>the safer yourselves. <v Speaker 2>I'm going to Atlanta next week. I'm very excited about <v Speaker 2>Uh he is not he is, but that's fine. I'll <v Speaker 2>play games for him, but no, I played some games <v Speaker 2>last night. Things are starting to pick up again with <v Speaker 2>Spider Man coming out this week. I put that video out, <v Speaker 2>which I was really nervous about. But y'all are very <v Speaker 2>nice about it that that actually checked it out talking <v Speaker 2>about Spider Man, and they must have listened, because right <v Speaker 2>after I put that video out, the price of the <v Speaker 2>boxes I was showing kind of dipped. I'm still too expense. <v Speaker 2>There's still seven hundred bucks, but but not like the <v Speaker 2>nine hundred that it was, which is nice. Got another <v Speaker 2>to do another one today. Not this video is gonna <v Speaker 2>be a little bit different. It's not going to just <v Speaker 2>be me. I'll be interviewing someone. Oh cool. I'll just <v Speaker 2>leave that tease there. That interview is actually right after this, <v Speaker 2>so I'll have that up hopefully by the end of <v Speaker 2>the day, and I hope you all enjoy. <v Speaker 1>It all right, fantastic. Yeah, you mentioned going to Atlanta <v Speaker 1>and Jane's not gonna be there. Yeah, something about Jan <v Speaker 1>in Atlanta sounds dangerous to me. I don't know something <v Speaker 1>about it, Like he would just get up to some shit. <v Speaker 1>I would just go to Magic City. Let's just get <v Speaker 1>it out there, all right. I would just go there <v Speaker 1>and sample the food. Only the food, yeh, I deid. <v Speaker 1>I would want you to have a shurpas someone to <v Speaker 1>take care of you, make sure you don't get into <v Speaker 1>too much trouble. Jan, all right, we should explain what <v Speaker 1>we do here. We're Giant Bomb. Go to giant bomb <v Speaker 1>dot com slash join, become a premium member to support <v Speaker 1>what we do here. You can also catch <v Speaker 1>the show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube. <v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so <v Speaker 1>let's start the morning mess with Sony to host, Stay <v Speaker 1>to play next week, claims Insider. This is from Benfellow <v Speaker 1>at PSU Nate the Hate is now confirming that he's <v Speaker 1>hearing that there will be one. There will be one <v Speaker 1>next week. Like I've been saying for a while, expect <v Speaker 1>one before the end of September. It's not that double <v Speaker 1>O seven to one that already happened. There's a separate one. <v Speaker 1>And you know, some more conversations starting to pop up <v Speaker 1>around this, and I think people are starting to set <v Speaker 1>expectations relatively high. And I'm I'm like ready to like <v Speaker 1>give people some hope, like, yeah, you probably will be <v Speaker 1>hearing more about It's it Sorrows. Is that the new <v Speaker 1>one from the team that did spok thank you? <v Speaker 2>That's not his name? Yeah? <v Speaker 1>Oh god, I completely forgot about that one, right. So <v Speaker 1>that's that's a big one that is like coming up, <v Speaker 1>I think relatively soon. I think they've said that that <v Speaker 1>is for next year, so they'll have to give us <v Speaker 1>an update on that. That seems completely like a fair <v Speaker 1>expectation to see something there. Then the god of or <v Speaker 1>spin off the Metroid Vane, Yes, we'll probably get something <v Speaker 1>with that. There's questions around like all of the bigger <v Speaker 1>stuff that might be a little bit further out, but <v Speaker 1>a lot of smoke around Wolverine. Uh, And I'm I <v Speaker 1>think I'm choosing to believe that one will be there <v Speaker 1>as well. I heard like they were definitely considering it. <v Speaker 1>They want to show it off. It all just comes <v Speaker 1>down to the timing. I think it's probably going to <v Speaker 1>work out that we will see something there, but I <v Speaker 1>don't know for sure. <v Speaker 2>Jason. <v Speaker 1>My question would be like, beyond that, let's say this <v Speaker 1>is a state of play that that walks the line <v Speaker 1>of maybe being a to a showcase. What would it <v Speaker 1>have to include to like get to that point or <v Speaker 1>is it already kind of close? If it has those <v Speaker 1>three things. <v Speaker 2>Those three things definitely prop it up a little bit. <v Speaker 2>We would have to hear something about intergalactic planetary planetary <v Speaker 2>intergalactic from Naughty Dog, I think, especially with I give <v Speaker 2>it so far away though, right, you would assume so. <v Speaker 2>But why can't I think of his name? The head <v Speaker 2>the head writer of Truckman Jesus Christ. Why couldn't I <v Speaker 2>think of that? <v Speaker 1>But yeah, he try to running this show. I forget <v Speaker 1>names every thirty seconds. I get it. <v Speaker 2>He has now updated his social media to be all <v Speaker 2>intergalactic all the time. In this bio now says coming <v Speaker 2>soon intergalactic. It's got the woman with the sword, So <v Speaker 2>that kind of tips the hand maybe that there's something else. <v Speaker 2>It might just be like a small gameplay teaser with <v Speaker 2>some more story trailer sort of thing. You figure that <v Speaker 2>only debuted at the Game Awards last year, right, we <v Speaker 2>haven't heard a thing about it since then, so they <v Speaker 2>have a little more to show. Why not do it here? <v Speaker 2>I think if I go back and look at Naughty <v Speaker 2>Dog's other marketing leading up to their games. They were <v Speaker 2>they were a drip feed sort of company. They didn't <v Speaker 2>just blow it all out at once, right, So I <v Speaker 2>think you could see that there. I'm trying to think <v Speaker 2>what else there might be. Yota is coming, so yeah, <v Speaker 2>I mean they'll give us, they'll. <v Speaker 1>Update us on Yotay. Of course, yes, you're right, but <v Speaker 1>it's like, okay, well, what about the Sony Santa Monica game. <v Speaker 1>That that is one that's like we could we could <v Speaker 1>see that here. If that happens, then this is like <v Speaker 1>a really big state of play if it has that <v Speaker 1>many first party uh you know, goings ons that it's <v Speaker 1>so much so that it would include what's happening at <v Speaker 1>Sony Santa Monica and them announcing their game, and then <v Speaker 1>at that point you could fill out the rest with <v Speaker 1>maybe a couple of partner partner published games and a <v Speaker 1>lot of third party and you got yourself a really <v Speaker 1>nice show, especially if you can get a lot of <v Speaker 1>those games. Some dates for next year Intergalactics ones like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>we could hear about it, right, it's been a year. <v Speaker 1>At the same time, we might I feel like we <v Speaker 1>might not hear about it for another two years until <v Speaker 1>it's ready to go in twenty twenty seven, and it <v Speaker 1>feels like that's the earliest it could come out, as <v Speaker 1>well as like it could be like a PS seven <v Speaker 1>sort of launch title at US at some point. So <v Speaker 1>whenever that comes out or I'm sorry PS six Jesus, <v Speaker 1>someone it's chat said PS seven as a joke and <v Speaker 1>then that got my head. Yeah, so yeah, I look, <v Speaker 1>I don't want to like to like give the wrong <v Speaker 1>impression what I was when I heard about this early <v Speaker 1>on and I was talking to some contacts the sort <v Speaker 1>of they couched it in, like, yeah, look, expect the <v Speaker 1>stay of play and be realistic about the timeline that <v Speaker 1>Sony's working with where they might want to focus on <v Speaker 1>a couple of these games Sorrows and God of War <v Speaker 1>first before they talk about anything else. I think now <v Speaker 1>it sounds like Wolverine as well, and I'm not I'm <v Speaker 1>not going to expect anything beyond that, because again, state <v Speaker 1>of plays can often be they can feel, you know, <v Speaker 1>I just want to say, disappointing. But whatever, where where <v Speaker 1>should expectations be for a state to play? They often <v Speaker 1>feel obligatory. They often feel like something into or Sony <v Speaker 1>going through the motions of we have this big platform, <v Speaker 1>we need to use it to help our partners out <v Speaker 1>and as well as to help our own games occasionally. <v Speaker 1>So let's put these things together and just communicate to <v Speaker 1>our audience and sell some video games. And it's sort <v Speaker 1>of just then, you know, doing normal marketing stuff. We <v Speaker 1>kind of build it up in our heads. But at <v Speaker 1>the same time, it does feel like maybe we're due <v Speaker 1>for one of these to pop off, and this one <v Speaker 1>makes a lot of sense. <v Speaker 2>Now, wouldn't they just call a showcase at that point? Obviously, <v Speaker 2>I mean assuming that the state of play is just <v Speaker 2>for the rumors, But I would like to think that <v Speaker 2>PlayStation has some sort of differentiator between a state and <v Speaker 2>play and a showcase. And if what's happening, what we're <v Speaker 2>talking about right now with all of these potential first <v Speaker 2>party games, that's a showcase to me. Then again, if <v Speaker 2>they use the showcase name and it underwhelms, so what <v Speaker 2>do you do here? Do you use state of play <v Speaker 2>and over deliver or do you use showcase and potentially underdeliver. <v Speaker 2>It's this weird dichotomy dilemma that they've caused for themselves. <v Speaker 2>That don't I don't really end with them on that one, <v Speaker 2>but also too, I think hype in general for this <v Speaker 2>is semi influenced by how excited we all were about <v Speaker 2>Nintendo last Friday. Rightly, Yeah, there's a lot of on <v Speaker 2>to the next one in these rumors. I think that <v Speaker 2>is sort of generating this hype and whatever happens with it, <v Speaker 2>be it next week or the week after. I do <v Speaker 2>think there is what we are due. The last state <v Speaker 2>of play besides the Double O seven one was pre <v Speaker 2>SGF September. Yeah, yeah, September is the month for that. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, bring on these first party games, Bring on <v Speaker 2>the final Fantasy nine remake. For fuck's sake, we're talking <v Speaker 2>about I don't know. I don't know. I don't think <v Speaker 2>that's going to happen. Actually, Cosquery in excess so many <v Speaker 2>things that they're working on right now, and every new <v Speaker 2>showcase brings one or two. They've announced three RPGs in <v Speaker 2>a month and a half, from July thirty first and <v Speaker 2>then last week Elliott with Philipildia Octopa zero and then <v Speaker 2>with No Phillibilitia with no Philibildia and Dragon Quest seven <v Speaker 2>reimagined with a reabilitia. <v Speaker 1>So I. <v Speaker 2>Uh, I don't know what, I don't know how many <v Speaker 2>studios they got firing right now, but there's a lot <v Speaker 2>going on over there, so maybe that remake was shelved <v Speaker 2>or but that's all the other show. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, No, I mean I think it's worth talking about <v Speaker 1>because Final Fantasy nine remake. I think a lot of <v Speaker 1>people have already given up hope. I know that's where <v Speaker 1>Mike's at when I talk to him about it. Uh, <v Speaker 1>if it doesn't happen here, it's not happening. If it <v Speaker 1>doesn't get announced at this you know, pre Tokyo Game <v Speaker 1>Show state or State of Play from PlayStation. I think <v Speaker 1>that they're like they're just not doing it, you know, <v Speaker 1>unless they're waiting for something that Tokyo Game Show. <v Speaker 2>I guess now I say all those things, but there <v Speaker 2>is one other things the Square Enix is working on <v Speaker 2>that we know about. And the word Mike reminded me. <v Speaker 2>So that's what kind of tip your mind as to <v Speaker 2>where I'm going here. It's got a four in it, <v Speaker 2>and we haven't seen a damn thing about Sora and <v Speaker 2>Kingdom Hearts four since that initial trailer. Maybe maybe that's <v Speaker 2>what they bring to the State of Play showcase. <v Speaker 1>That's that's not impossible for sure, I don't. <v Speaker 2>Know, but yeah, so so for outside of those two, <v Speaker 2>Capcom has games take it up Data Song, we could <v Speaker 2>get Residentvial Trailer number three. We could get the next <v Speaker 2>DLC for Street Fighter, which I believe is in Alex <v Speaker 2>Alex or Ingrid. I don't remember which one, but whatever <v Speaker 2>Fighter that is, they're coming, They're coming soon. Yeah, I <v Speaker 2>think there is definitely some fire to this state of <v Speaker 2>play smoke. But I think the only question now is <v Speaker 2>state of play or showcase, depending on how much Sony <v Speaker 2>themselves has to share, and that remains to be seen. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think, you know, before we get off the topic, <v Speaker 1>I will dial it down. We talked a lot about <v Speaker 1>what could happen like if it is running up to <v Speaker 1>a showcase we don't know. Set your expectations accordingly for <v Speaker 1>how you felt out of most state of plays. I <v Speaker 1>think that's fair, you know, I mean, or you know, <v Speaker 1>if you're someone who doesn't care about getting disappointed, which <v Speaker 1>you know, why should you kind of at a certain <v Speaker 1>point like, oh, you were expecting something, then you watched it, <v Speaker 1>it wasn't great, So what move on with your life? <v Speaker 1>That's that's you know, That's how I think people probably <v Speaker 1>should feel about it. But if you do, then get <v Speaker 1>your hopes up as high as possible and if it's <v Speaker 1>something that really bothers you when these things are disappointing, <v Speaker 1>and set your expectations accordingly. <v Speaker 2>Quick correction viper see viper is next to street photo six. <v Speaker 2>I thought she was out already because they teased her <v Speaker 2>at EVO, but she didn't actually release her yet, So <v Speaker 2>my badil. <v Speaker 1>And let's see before we move on from Sony Motor <v Speaker 1>World Hype with a super chat Seemingly I can't talk. <v Speaker 1>They're annoyed with you or happy with you? Well, now, <v Speaker 1>don't you tell me to smile? People always say my <v Speaker 1>style is wild. There you go, Thank you, Motor World Hype. <v Speaker 1>Let's uh, let's go with the intergalactic planetary. Uh all right, <v Speaker 1>let's keep moving here. Yakuza Kiwami three mentioned spotted on <v Speaker 1>series' official website. This is from sal Ramano at gamats <v Speaker 1>to the official Japanese website for the Yakuza Like a <v Speaker 1>Dragon series listed then removed a news category for the <v Speaker 1>unannounced Yakuza Kawami three earlier today. Although the news category <v Speaker 1>was removed, multiple users spotted it before it disappeared and <v Speaker 1>a Google search still features the category and it's a <v Speaker 1>meta description. Publisher Sega and Yakuza like a Dragon series <v Speaker 1>developer rut Kotoku Studio will host RGG Summit twenty twenty <v Speaker 1>five on September twenty third, where the studio is expected <v Speaker 1>to reveal its latest titles. Yeah, this like they usually <v Speaker 1>have something for these RGG showcases, these summits, and they <v Speaker 1>this is a prolific studio. They get a lot of <v Speaker 1>work done really fast. They put out like a Dragon, Pirate, Yakuza, <v Speaker 1>and Hawaii last year, and they had some other stuff <v Speaker 1>like the year before that, and that's like on top <v Speaker 1>of the major games that they're releasing for like the <v Speaker 1>mainline games from the Yakuza series. So people were expecting something. <v Speaker 1>I think this lines up with Oh yeah, we're probably <v Speaker 1>due for Kawami three. You a Yakuza guys is something <v Speaker 1>that excites you. <v Speaker 2>I'm a recent yakas a guy. Infinite Wealth was the <v Speaker 2>first one I ever played. I played Pirate Yakas. I <v Speaker 2>actually did guides for IGN for both of those, so <v Speaker 2>that's why I played them, and I ended up enjoying <v Speaker 2>I ended up really enjoying them. I think it's very <v Speaker 2>smart that they re release all the older games just <v Speaker 2>so people like me have a more modern way of <v Speaker 2>catching up with the story, because I feel like it <v Speaker 2>is worthy of that based on the things that I <v Speaker 2>have heard from long time Yakaza fans are like a <v Speaker 2>Dragon fans. Lex Luddy is in Japan right now and <v Speaker 2>shuddering and has no idea why. But I will say, <v Speaker 2>speaking of overworked rgg my goodness, what you just mentioned. <v Speaker 2>Virtual Fighter is under their first year. That other game <v Speaker 2>that just got a name. <v Speaker 1>The Project Century, that is now, what is what is <v Speaker 1>that happening? It just happened a name that I do <v Speaker 1>struggle remember it, but I got I remember Project's Century <v Speaker 1>for some reason, So there we go. <v Speaker 2>It's Neil Druckman, that's the name. But yeah, it's a <v Speaker 2>stranger than that, you, stranger than heaven? There It is <v Speaker 2>that that that they're working on Kawami three makes sense. <v Speaker 2>I don't know that they're ready for like a Dragon <v Speaker 2>nine or Yakaza nine, whatever you would call it. <v Speaker 1>Ryan. Yeah, that feels like we get teased in like <v Speaker 1>the next year and a half. We get teased yet. <v Speaker 1>But I just hope these guys are resting you know <v Speaker 1>what I mean. If they're making Kawami three plus everything <v Speaker 1>else on their play I hope SECA gives them the day. <v Speaker 2>Off once in a while so they can recharge. <v Speaker 1>It feels like a very efficient studio. Feels like they <v Speaker 1>know how to use their tools and reuse assets and <v Speaker 1>and they're like, hey, no, these games take place in <v Speaker 1>the same city. The city isn't going to change all <v Speaker 1>that much. We're not going to rebuild all this stuff. <v Speaker 1>Let's just use it as a set like you would <v Speaker 1>a movie set. And so yeah, that I love that <v Speaker 1>doing more of that. They they've figured that out, and <v Speaker 1>it's I think it's enabled them to sort of navigate <v Speaker 1>this generation of making games better than just about any <v Speaker 1>other studio. <v Speaker 2>That is basically what Pirate Yakasa was different. Character, say, <v Speaker 2>settings and all the well the Pirate Shenanians were new, <v Speaker 2>but everything else, like Hawaii was the exact same map <v Speaker 2>as Infinite Wealth, and that honestly made it a little <v Speaker 2>easier to play. Right, I already knew was going I <v Speaker 2>knew how to navigate there. There is an advantage to that, <v Speaker 2>I think. Plus Goro is awesome, so he was doing <v Speaker 2>perfect Their modubus so he made the perfect hero there. <v Speaker 2>Uh yeah, I do like there is something to be <v Speaker 2>said about efficiency where you sacrifice perhaps advancing to cutting <v Speaker 2>edge technology sooner as and then just staying in what <v Speaker 2>you're familiar with and creating experiences from That might turn <v Speaker 2>some people off that want the next big thing for <v Speaker 2>your franchise. But at the same time, if you're bringing <v Speaker 2>out games. <v Speaker 1>Straight Stranger, then Heaven looks like a next big bota <v Speaker 1>for Yeah, for like like a lot of new tech <v Speaker 1>in there, and in the meantime they can kind of <v Speaker 1>keep working on these other games that are are more <v Speaker 1>familiar in those familiar settings, using the familiar tools, and <v Speaker 1>no one's complaining. And it's like for the most brand, <v Speaker 1>it's I get people start to well, what do you <v Speaker 1>complaining about? The studio's got something new that looks new, <v Speaker 1>and it's like, oh, they're just doing it all. You know. <v Speaker 1>It feels like, well, how long can that last? Eventually <v Speaker 1>they'll run out of rope there, or they'll have some <v Speaker 1>technical hiccup that causes a derailment, and then does everything <v Speaker 1>come crumbling down in that moment? It hasn't so far, <v Speaker 1>but you know whatever, even if they do have a <v Speaker 1>problem in the future. It's been so impressive up to <v Speaker 1>this point that they should still get their flowers. <v Speaker 2>Going back to strategy too. I think that's why them <v Speaker 2>picking up Virtual Fighter makes a lot of sense too, <v Speaker 2>because it allows them a fighting game to sort of <v Speaker 2>tinker with their combat system. They may find things in <v Speaker 2>whatever they develop for Virtual Fighter that translates seamlessly into <v Speaker 2>Like a Dragon if they ever want to go back <v Speaker 2>to real time combat or vice versa. Something about the <v Speaker 2>narrative direction of Like a Dragon games, or the way <v Speaker 2>that their stories are told, or even their cinematics. We're <v Speaker 2>already seeing that in these small Virtual Fighter clips that <v Speaker 2>we have, So them also being allowed to branch out <v Speaker 2>of their while they're adjacent uh genres, they're not completely <v Speaker 2>the same. Obviously, fighting is just fighting where this has <v Speaker 2>fight where like a Dragon has fighting aspects. But being <v Speaker 2>able to sort of branch out and try different things <v Speaker 2>makes their core franchise better, YE think true. So I <v Speaker 2>think there's a there's a lot of strategy in that <v Speaker 2>as well. <v Speaker 1>Yep. And I think Kwami three is something that had <v Speaker 1>to happen. My understanding is someone who's not played it, <v Speaker 1>not not a fan favorite, but also one that they <v Speaker 1>want to be to get the Kwami treatment. They want <v Speaker 1>to see like what can be improved? Uh, and then <v Speaker 1>you know, once it's out of the way, then they <v Speaker 1>can get through these other games that people people like <v Speaker 1>better and go to a new a new spin off <v Speaker 1>like a like A like like A like a Dragon <v Speaker 1>Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which is a fun thing just <v Speaker 1>to say the whole name of each time. All right, <v Speaker 1>let's uh, let's take a break. We're gonna we have <v Speaker 1>plenty more headlines to get to. We're gonna go here <v Speaker 1>from Character Issues when we come back. Let's get back into <v Speaker 1>the headlines here with the first official Silent Hill F <v Speaker 1>review is in and it's positive. This is from Chris <v Speaker 1>Scullion at VGC. The first official review of Silent Hill. <v Speaker 1>Have you know what silent hilth that's just easier to <v Speaker 1>say HILF has been published and it's a positive. One <v Speaker 1>Japanese publication from Mitsu gave it a thirty six out <v Speaker 1>of forty total. That's whether it's four reviewers each giving <v Speaker 1>it a nine out of ten. They still do the <v Speaker 1>review crew style thing. Yeah, you know they're praising the <v Speaker 1>you know, it's grotesque and breathtaking, horrifying, all the things <v Speaker 1>you want from a Silent Hill game. And this is <v Speaker 1>on top of that leaked review that we got from <v Speaker 1>that person that did not understand embargos. It's a shame. <v Speaker 1>I really was like, yeah, that one's on dual shock. <v Speaker 1>I should not explaining to someone who's clearly not new <v Speaker 1>to this concept. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I I first, when I first heard about it, my <v Speaker 2>first reaction in the slack chat was one a maroon. <v Speaker 2>But then when I when I started really learning about it, <v Speaker 2>it was their second of a review. There were list <v Speaker 2>writers before that. This is a side gig. They're a <v Speaker 2>high school teacher. I think that they do have a <v Speaker 2>degree in journalism, so it kind of makes me wonder <v Speaker 2>if they forgot what embargoes were by. <v Speaker 1>Something gets covered like briefly in school, Like I, stick <v Speaker 1>with the thing unless you're working with every day. <v Speaker 2>I saw dog Pilot and I'm just like, nah, man, <v Speaker 2>I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's an unfortunate <v Speaker 2>situation with a lot of different failures. But I agree <v Speaker 2>with you that it falls on editorial. Like I said, <v Speaker 2>because of who owns dual Shockers, I made the hypothesis <v Speaker 2>that it was just in a slack chat code date <v Speaker 2>off you go. And then somebody replied to me that <v Speaker 2>who used to work for that parent company? That said <v Speaker 2>it may have just even been a Trello card that <v Speaker 2>information and you just assign it to yourself. So it <v Speaker 2>just sounds like a very unfortunate situation for someone who <v Speaker 2>was very excited to talk about it, to the point <v Speaker 2>where they didn't want to wait any longer than they <v Speaker 2>had to, and it ended up biting them in the backside. <v Speaker 2>A true horror story to come from a horror game <v Speaker 2>and one to learn from. So I hope that that <v Speaker 2>person learns from it, yeah, takes it on the chin <v Speaker 2>and just you know, becomes a better writer for it. <v Speaker 2>I would hate for them to use this as the <v Speaker 2>last review they ever do, because I want to read <v Speaker 2>those words. Obviously they were excited about it. I want <v Speaker 2>to know why. I want that perspective. I would hate <v Speaker 2>for that perspective to go away because of this, not <v Speaker 2>so much the situation, but because of the unfortunate adult <v Speaker 2>piling that happened afterward. I don't think it was entirely <v Speaker 2>their fault. <v Speaker 1>That's awesome, No, Yeah, I mean, you know, the Internet <v Speaker 1>loves their daily like, you know, main star of Twitter <v Speaker 1>sort of thing, their main star of the of the <v Speaker 1>conversation and going after him, and I could tell right <v Speaker 1>away that was going to happen. It was not feeling <v Speaker 1>great about it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, they liked the. <v Speaker 1>Game though, give it a nine point five, and it's <v Speaker 1>like Okay, you know that's this sounds like a supervan, <v Speaker 1>so maybe that's just what's happening here. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>It's impossible to know until we get more reviews and <v Speaker 1>play the game ourselves. But I I've not touched this. <v Speaker 1>I don't you know, I don't have code for it. <v Speaker 1>And when I go looking around for opinions about it <v Speaker 1>does sound like the early word is from these reviews <v Speaker 1>this game could really hit very hard. And it makes <v Speaker 1>me like just continue to feel pretty encouraged by everything <v Speaker 1>Konami's doing. You know, a successful company in many other ways, <v Speaker 1>but not one that seemed very interested in traditional mainstream <v Speaker 1>Triple A video games, and Capcom certainly kind of made <v Speaker 1>them turn a light bulball and be like, wait, we <v Speaker 1>could still probably make a lot of money doing that, <v Speaker 1>and that they they're not phoning it in, and if <v Speaker 1>they are phoning in the parts that their phoning in <v Speaker 1>seem to not be affecting the end product they are. <v Speaker 1>Maybe they are not like super plugged in, but they <v Speaker 1>are at least trusting the right people to get the <v Speaker 1>jobs done. And I'm like, Okay, if this is the <v Speaker 1>future of Konami, if we can get ten years of this. <v Speaker 1>I'm there at that point we could start getting some <v Speaker 1>real We better get that Castlevania game. But what else <v Speaker 1>do you got? I want to see it at all. <v Speaker 2>That's the one I think. Once the Castlevania hits, if <v Speaker 2>that is good, whether it's a two D throwback or <v Speaker 2>something more modern, then I think they will we start <v Speaker 2>talking about them. With Sega and Capcom and squar Enix <v Speaker 2>as firing on all set islanders again, I think they've <v Speaker 2>established a good start. I think going with Blueber for <v Speaker 2>the Silent Hill to remake was genius. I think that <v Speaker 2>was a great idea for both sides. That's going to <v Speaker 2>be looked back as one of those partnerships that really <v Speaker 2>benefited both sides in the long run. It allowed them <v Speaker 2>to buy to get extra time for this f which <v Speaker 2>sounds like it's a fantastic game. The bringing in the <v Speaker 2>writer as at Rikishi zero seven, I think the Japanese <v Speaker 2>visual novel writer that they brought into write this that <v Speaker 2>was a smart decision too. To it sounds like they've <v Speaker 2>figured out what they can do and what they were <v Speaker 2>struggling with before, and then going out to those who <v Speaker 2>can help them with their faults, and that is growth, baby, <v Speaker 2>that's what you want to see, the kind of growth <v Speaker 2>we like talking about, not this infinite growth business bullshit. <v Speaker 2>I'm sure we'll get into that eventually. But I like this. <v Speaker 2>I like that they are on the upswing. I think <v Speaker 2>there is still a lot that Konami can bring to <v Speaker 2>this industry through its franchises. I don't know that a <v Speaker 2>new metal Gear is ever going to happen that much, <v Speaker 2>be like a remake, remaster, build the war Chest, build <v Speaker 2>the golfers sort of thing, because without Kajima, I don't <v Speaker 2>know that metal Gear is metal Gear. And that survive <v Speaker 2>one Zombie one I think that's all the proof you need. <v Speaker 2>But I I'm I'm very excited to see Castlevania is <v Speaker 2>the last bastion. I think. I feel like Castlevania is <v Speaker 2>the last Konami franchise that we have not seen a <v Speaker 2>new one of yet. That I I mean, of the <v Speaker 2>bit of their big ones I'm probably missing, right. <v Speaker 1>I Mean, there's stuff like there's you know, Contraman or Contraman, <v Speaker 1>the Contraman Contra and bomb Ran at the same time, <v Speaker 1>there's you know, Rocket Night Adventures. Things that are way <v Speaker 1>down the list. You're right, Yeah, Caslvania is the next <v Speaker 1>big one. <v Speaker 2>No wait, a second Rocket Knight Adventures. That door is open. <v Speaker 2>If Bubbzy can come back, there is hope for Rocket Night. <v Speaker 1>Look I'm not I'm not some nerd who likes Rocket <v Speaker 1>Night Adventures. I've never played it. I know, I know <v Speaker 1>there's some fans out there, so let's throw them a <v Speaker 1>little bit. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I just I feel like this is good. <v Speaker 2>This is the kind of positive I guess environment or <v Speaker 2>positive feeling about Konami that had been lost for a <v Speaker 2>very long time in the early to mid twenty tens <v Speaker 2>when they decided to go full Pachinko machine. And I <v Speaker 2>hope it works out for them, I really do. Ten <v Speaker 2>more years of Konami making great games just feels right. <v Speaker 2>I hope it works out. <v Speaker 1>Yep, exactly. I'm rooting for it, rooting for him, you know. <v Speaker 1>I My opinion on the Metal Gear thing is I <v Speaker 1>feel the exact opposite with as of many metal Gear <v Speaker 1>fans where being able to look at a little bit <v Speaker 1>from the outside, I've played a lot of the metal <v Speaker 1>Gear games. I've not played two, three, or four, but <v Speaker 1>from looking at it from the outside, it's like, look, <v Speaker 1>if they do these remakes, right, there's definitely a way, <v Speaker 1>a pathway for them to make a new Metal Gear <v Speaker 1>game of sorts. At the very least, they could do <v Speaker 1>like a new Revengeance, bring in Platinum or you know, <v Speaker 1>the Pain of People, something like that, and then if <v Speaker 1>they do a good job on that, that opens the <v Speaker 1>door even further. It's like they have to do they <v Speaker 1>have to get everything right, so like that's a really <v Speaker 1>difficult thing to do. So yes, it is still unlikely, <v Speaker 1>but there's a pathway where if they put in the <v Speaker 1>effort and they show a capcom like ability to remake <v Speaker 1>these games in such a way where it's like, man, <v Speaker 1>they're even better than before. Now. Three was not that <v Speaker 1>that was a direct one to one remake for the <v Speaker 1>most part, but as they go forward, maybe they kind <v Speaker 1>of show off a little bit more. And then in <v Speaker 1>eight years we were like, Okay, they've done a lot <v Speaker 1>of these Metal Gear remakes, Now should we start thinking <v Speaker 1>about a new one. I think it'll go over a <v Speaker 1>little bit easier. At that time, it may go over easier. <v Speaker 2>I'm more worried about I think for me personally, and <v Speaker 2>I could be wrong about this, but one of the <v Speaker 2>crowning achievements of that entire franchise was it's admittedly batshit storyline. <v Speaker 2>I loved it. I loved everything about that storyline, and <v Speaker 2>I don't that takes. I'm not saying the writer's not <v Speaker 2>out there, but I feel like it's the kind of <v Speaker 2>half game, half movie sort of mindset that Kajima is <v Speaker 2>really good at. And just call me a skeptic because <v Speaker 2>I haven't seen it from anyone else yet. If there's <v Speaker 2>someone out there who can do it, please, by all <v Speaker 2>means give them the reins. <v Speaker 1>I think they would have to be spending all of <v Speaker 1>these years of these remakes sort of like steeping themselves <v Speaker 1>in that and training that the whole new generation of <v Speaker 1>people that could figure that out. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. Sure, I don't think he's the only one that <v Speaker 2>can make it. I just think right now, other than remakes, <v Speaker 2>I don't see it yet. <v Speaker 1>I think you do a remake of the MSX games, <v Speaker 1>of the of the Nintendo game, and it's like, at <v Speaker 1>that point you can really just sort of like, Okay, <v Speaker 1>we're going to adapt this story, We're going to fill <v Speaker 1>in a lot of the gaps. Can we do this style? Right? <v Speaker 1>I think that's sort of approving ground at some point. <v Speaker 2>But so I apologize for that exaggerated reaction, but butch <v Speaker 2>chat brings up a very interesting potential partner for a <v Speaker 2>Metal Gear story, and that is remedy. <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, samly. <v Speaker 2>Give me some musical theater in metal Gear. Let's go. <v Speaker 1>That is so interesting, a big show stopping number. Absolutely, <v Speaker 1>let's go. All right, let's keep going here. Assassin's Cree <v Speaker 1>Black Flag remake is reportedly adding extra content and RPG mechanics, <v Speaker 1>aiming for a March release. This comes from Chris Scullion <v Speaker 1>at VGC. French publisher. Ju Video magazine, which has posted <v Speaker 1>information on Ubisoft games in the past, says it has <v Speaker 1>received details on the remake from a variety of anonymous sources. <v Speaker 1>According to these sources, it seems likely that the game <v Speaker 1>is looking at a March twenty twenty six release, but <v Speaker 1>at least once at least one source suggested that they <v Speaker 1>weren't entirely confident this target would be reached given how <v Speaker 1>much work is left to be done. It's reported that <v Speaker 1>Ubisoft Singapore, which previously worked on the naval battle elements <v Speaker 1>of Black Flag and went on to develop its successor <v Speaker 1>of sorts, Skull and Bones, is leading development of the remake. <v Speaker 1>With support reportedly coming from other studios such as Ubisoft <v Speaker 1>Bordeaux and Ubisoft Belgrade. Video reports that parts of the <v Speaker 1>present day sections from the original Black Flag are being <v Speaker 1>removed and replaced with more Pirate era content, resulting in <v Speaker 1>a game that will still be longer than the original. <v Speaker 1>Estimates suggest around four hours of extra content have been added, <v Speaker 1>including a section involving the Mary Reid character, which was <v Speaker 1>removed in the original game. Apparently, Jason, They're also added <v Speaker 1>stuff like RPG mechanics, like some of the more recent <v Speaker 1>I know, yeah, I'm like, okay, so they are kind <v Speaker 1>of fundamentally changing the progression in the game. To me, <v Speaker 1>that sounds like, you know, the thing you do while <v Speaker 1>you're playing the game, the thing that's sort of is <v Speaker 1>just happening off to the side. I don't know if <v Speaker 1>that's going to be too much of a bump in <v Speaker 1>the road for me of being able to go back <v Speaker 1>and enjoy this game, although I'm also not particularly craving <v Speaker 1>to go back to Black Flag all that much. I <v Speaker 1>like that game a ton, but I played it and <v Speaker 1>it's not one of those ones I think I'm always <v Speaker 1>thinking about going back to. But who knows if they <v Speaker 1>nail it. Maybe I will. <v Speaker 2>I feel like most of the convoluted parts of Assassin's <v Speaker 2>Creeds recently, or those RPG like mechanics, not to mention <v Speaker 2>the gigantic maps. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, but people, I don't know. People do show <v Speaker 1>up for those games, though, uh, and I do and. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't If you're going to remake Black Flag, remake <v Speaker 2>Black Flag, you want to get rid of the Abstirgo stuff, <v Speaker 2>the present day stuff, and just have it be the <v Speaker 2>pirate stuff. Fine, you want to get really saucy and <v Speaker 2>mix Black Flag with Rogue and have those stories intertwined. <v Speaker 2>That would be very cool, but that's kind of hard <v Speaker 2>to do, right. I don't know. As soon as I <v Speaker 2>heard the RPG stuff, I was okay with Theobstergo going Away. <v Speaker 2>If you just want to focus on the pirate stuff <v Speaker 2>is the best part of the game. But the RPG, <v Speaker 2>I just I don't know. I don't know if Black <v Speaker 2>Flag needs that. That feels like over complicating what was <v Speaker 2>a very good Assassin's Creed game. I could be wrong. <v Speaker 2>They could have found away. <v Speaker 1>I don't want to see a bunch of like I <v Speaker 1>don't want to see like a huge deep loot system <v Speaker 1>or when that's trying to play it being deep, that <v Speaker 1>would be distracting for sure. So I hope this just <v Speaker 1>means very light character upgrade stuff. There's probably a new <v Speaker 1>skill tree that's probably what this is, and uh that <v Speaker 1>that wouldn't get in the way of this game all <v Speaker 1>that much, and maybe just give you one more fun <v Speaker 1>thing to do while you are exploring the world. But <v Speaker 1>you're you're right, like at a certain points, like, that's <v Speaker 1>not what Black Flag was. It doesn't need it, So <v Speaker 1>what are they doing here? But maybe maybe they're like, well, <v Speaker 1>we know we got the old Black Flag fans, let's <v Speaker 1>see if we can bring in these new Assassins Creed <v Speaker 1>fans by promising the stuff that that they do like. <v Speaker 1>And a lot of them do like these new Assassins <v Speaker 1>Assassin's Creed games quite a bit. We'll see that this <v Speaker 1>is one that could pop up anywhere. This could be <v Speaker 1>at the at the State of Play, could be at <v Speaker 1>the Akilles, it could be in a bunch of places. <v Speaker 1>We'll see if we care about it anytime soon. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Report finds nearly all gamers have played a remaster or <v Speaker 1>remake in the last year. Weird it's only only like <v Speaker 1>many of our stories were about exactly that. This is <v Speaker 1>from Darren Bonthus or as I wrote here, Baron bon Thus, <v Speaker 1>who I have bon game spot. If you played on this, yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's got a whole have been a bunch of skulls <v Speaker 1>on the side. He's a deadly killer. If you've played <v Speaker 1>any PC or console game over the last twelve months, <v Speaker 1>there's a good chance that at least one of them <v Speaker 1>was a remake or a remaster. That's according to new <v Speaker 1>research which found that not only have these games been <v Speaker 1>popular with the people they pulled for this research, they've <v Speaker 1>also been desirable diversions specialists. Strategy and Insights consultancy firm <v Speaker 1>MTM via Games Industry top Is pulled fifteen hundred people <v Speaker 1>and seven hundred and fifty people each are that's seven <v Speaker 1>hundred thy people each in the US and the UK <v Speaker 1>who play games regularly. Our report shows that there is <v Speaker 1>a strong appeal for remakes and remasters, but it's a <v Speaker 1>tight balancing act for studios to get right. And that's <v Speaker 1>according to the head of gaming at MTM, many of <v Speaker 1>these games are far out selling their original release. Okay, yeah, <v Speaker 1>this is just sort of like news that we already <v Speaker 1>knew to be true in some ways, but having it <v Speaker 1>sort of just like blatantly confirmed by some of some <v Speaker 1>light research here, it's like, yeah, I guess Jason, my <v Speaker 1>question would be like, what are you feeling about remakes <v Speaker 1>and remasters these days? To me, it's almost like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>that's just gaming. I want those because that's just it <v Speaker 1>feels like a new way to play games. To me, <v Speaker 1>I don't think about it much deeper than that. I <v Speaker 1>don't think most people are How are you feeling about it? <v Speaker 2>I think there's two ways to go about it. One, <v Speaker 2>it's bringing classic games to a modern age, which always <v Speaker 2>has that nostalgia hit right, So you might even attract <v Speaker 2>people who haven't played games in a while to replay <v Speaker 2>these games that they like Delta and Oblivion and things <v Speaker 2>like that. But more importantly, I think the world has <v Speaker 2>a lot of people really really anxious right now, and <v Speaker 2>anything they can do to remind themselves of times that <v Speaker 2>they weren't so anxious seems to make a lot of sense. <v Speaker 2>So I get it. I get wanting to go back <v Speaker 2>to a time of innocence. I get wanting to go <v Speaker 2>back to and really have a time that you were <v Speaker 2>really thought of fondly in your life with a video <v Speaker 2>game associated with it. There is a psychological aspect to it, <v Speaker 2>I think, and it might also be too. There's just <v Speaker 2>people who are, I don't want to say, maybe just <v Speaker 2>apathetic to the current gaming landscape. Like they just do <v Speaker 2>not jive with how the Triple A big time title <v Speaker 2>games are in this day of age. So they go <v Speaker 2>back to if they're not going back to games on <v Speaker 2>their original consoles, they're going to get these remakes and <v Speaker 2>play them with that fresh code of paint, with those <v Speaker 2>fresh graphics and things like that. I can't say I'm <v Speaker 2>surprised by it. Nostalgia has always been a major play <v Speaker 2>in every media that there is. But I wonder too, <v Speaker 2>again how much of it is just people being like, <v Speaker 2>I need to escape, Let's go to the games I <v Speaker 2>used to like. Yeah, I mean that's why I still <v Speaker 2>play things like old Street Fighter games or old Marvel Versus. <v Speaker 2>That's why the Marvel Verus Capcom collection and Capcom Fighting <v Speaker 2>collections have resonated with me so well. I just remember <v Speaker 2>like being a kid and playing these fighting games and <v Speaker 2>making basically it was action fit years but on a screen, <v Speaker 2>and making them butt heeads to see who would win. <v Speaker 2>I really really enjoyed that. So now I get to <v Speaker 2>do that with those same games on these modern consoles <v Speaker 2>or PC or what have you. And there is a <v Speaker 2>there's a unique sense of joy that comes from that <v Speaker 2>as opposed to buying a brand new game and playing that. <v Speaker 2>It's still joy, it's just a different kind. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And there's a lot of socializing in video games <v Speaker 1>where people will play games online or hang out in <v Speaker 1>a discord, and people will talk about growing up on <v Speaker 1>certain games. And there's a lot, probably a lot of people, <v Speaker 1>probably more than we even realize, who are in these spaces, <v Speaker 1>who have gotten into this kind of space where you <v Speaker 1>might be in a discord where people are talking about <v Speaker 1>playing old video games relatively recently in the last five <v Speaker 1>to ten years, and there's probably a lot of games <v Speaker 1>that people bring up all the time that you hear <v Speaker 1>about and you never touched, and then they get remake <v Speaker 1>or remade or remastered and you're like, well, now it's <v Speaker 1>my chance to go and play this and be a <v Speaker 1>part of that conversation. Or like, even if you were <v Speaker 1>like we're playing games that entire time in these spaces, <v Speaker 1>maybe you wrong. One platform maybe you were playing on <v Speaker 1>console and now there's some PC stuff that's coming your <v Speaker 1>way and you're wants to try that, or vice versa. <v Speaker 1>A lot of console games finally going to PC. I <v Speaker 1>think that's like, this is just like a reminder. It's like, oh, yeah, <v Speaker 1>that game that was such a huge hit back in <v Speaker 1>two thousand. Yeah, it sold three million copies, and that <v Speaker 1>was a huge hit back then, and now there are like, <v Speaker 1>now an equivalent hit would be like fifteen million. There's <v Speaker 1>tons of people that like, have never ever seen this <v Speaker 1>thing actually in motion. Let's give them a chance to <v Speaker 1>try it out, all right. <v Speaker 2>Real quick. Some people just think there's nostalgia hits as memes, <v Speaker 2>and they set the reminder for when the Virtual Boy <v Speaker 2>becomes available on these website. But you know, maybe we're <v Speaker 2>just sick. Jeff is available yet? <v Speaker 1>Is it available? I need to get it? Everybody help <v Speaker 1>her brother out when as soon as it goes up <v Speaker 1>and people were pre ordered it in the UK, what's <v Speaker 1>taken so long in the United States? Yeah, proper tariffs, honestly, <v Speaker 1>probably just logistics. That's good, good fun stuff. All right. <v Speaker 1>Let's see here. New PS five system update out now <v Speaker 1>with power saving mode and Dual Sense Sync upgrade. This <v Speaker 1>is from Grace Benfel at GameSpot. A new PlayStation five <v Speaker 1>system update is now available as of September seventeenth, bringing <v Speaker 1>the ability to pair a dual Sense to multiple devices <v Speaker 1>at once. The update also introduces a power Saver mode <v Speaker 1>on the PS five, which further upgrade with which further <v Speaker 1>with excuse me which future upgrade updates. Two games like <v Speaker 1>Death Stranding, Two Demon Souls, and Ghost of Yota will <v Speaker 1>add support for So basically you'll be able to go <v Speaker 1>into power saving mode on PS five. I don't fully understand. <v Speaker 1>I was trying to figure this out. Yeah, gonds like. <v Speaker 2>You'll be able to go into the game and put <v Speaker 2>it in power saving mode while the game is active. Yes, <v Speaker 2>that's way. You can just turn the console back on <v Speaker 2>and bang it right back in the game, sort of <v Speaker 2>like a quick resume sort of deal. <v Speaker 1>Right, quick resume. Yes, for these it has to be <v Speaker 1>engaged on a title by a title basis. It sounds like, yeah, okay, interesting, <v Speaker 1>It's probably something that some people will want to take <v Speaker 1>advantage of. I was more interested in the dual sense <v Speaker 1>of being able to connected to my PS five am <v Speaker 1>I PC at the same time. That sounds really nice. <v Speaker 1>I don't have multiple ps fives, but it maybe one <v Speaker 1>day I will get a pro who knows. And I <v Speaker 1>like the idea of like controllers just not you know. <v Speaker 1>I was playing the Final Boss of the Silk Song <v Speaker 1>yesterday and I was down here and I was trying <v Speaker 1>to play, and I'm like, suddenly it's just started pausing. <v Speaker 1>I'm like, I'm definitely not hitting the pause button. Like <v Speaker 1>my kid had a controller upstairs. She was trying to <v Speaker 1>connect it to she was trying to play her switch <v Speaker 1>and it's like, oh no, please stop, please stop. Oh <v Speaker 1>my god, you're gonna get me killed. And it's like, <v Speaker 1>you know, you turn that thing on and have it <v Speaker 1>just like probably recognize the thing that it's closest to. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if these controllers can do that, but <v Speaker 1>it feels like they should be a little bit smarter <v Speaker 1>than they are about connections. That's they are still a <v Speaker 1>little bit cumbersome all controllers when it comes to that process, <v Speaker 1>and hopefully things like this can sort of improve it. <v Speaker 1>Or maybe it'll just control both devices at the same <v Speaker 1>time when I would have had the same problem. I <v Speaker 1>don't know, but yeah, nice little updates, are you feeling <v Speaker 1>about like Sony's tending of the PS five and giving <v Speaker 1>it updates and making it feel like a modern system <v Speaker 1>that continues to get upgrades. <v Speaker 2>Well, I think when I first saw this, especially with <v Speaker 2>a dual Sense part, I thought of it more as <v Speaker 2>a much easier way for players who are buying PC <v Speaker 2>ports of PS five games that they may already own, <v Speaker 2>to just go back and forth. I think that's the <v Speaker 2>con so, but it's also a good thing. Don't get <v Speaker 2>me wrong. I think that being able to use the <v Speaker 2>dual Sense as a PC controller, which is something I <v Speaker 2>forget right Like I have PC specific controllers. I have <v Speaker 2>a Razor Wolverine over here. That's my PC controller. I <v Speaker 2>forget that the dual Sense controller can hook up to <v Speaker 2>my PC. A lot of people use that way, or <v Speaker 2>it's like my mobile devices through Bluetooth. It can do <v Speaker 2>that too. I just forget that I can do that <v Speaker 2>from time to time. So having these reminders and now <v Speaker 2>making it even easier to go back and forth, I <v Speaker 2>think ON does help the person with multiple devices. Do <v Speaker 2>I see myself using it all that much? No, but <v Speaker 2>I can definitely see the appeal in someone who might <v Speaker 2>want to use the same controller for multiple devices, Like <v Speaker 2>you said, now, will there be something to avoid your <v Speaker 2>potential Silk Song catastrophe that you just described. No, I <v Speaker 2>wouldn't count on that. You might not, at least not yet. <v Speaker 2>I don't know that that technology that Sony is there yet. <v Speaker 2>I think they're just getting the dual connection thing going <v Speaker 2>at the moment. But that, man, that would have been <v Speaker 2>tragic for you. If you're in the final boss of <v Speaker 2>one of the hardest games made this year and you're <v Speaker 2>a floor away, you're being jeopardized. But like in a <v Speaker 2>game like Silk Song, you might just think the game's <v Speaker 2>playing tricks on your right. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I was just like, I'm probably just messing up. <v Speaker 1>I'm probably probably just freaking out my hands going up <v Speaker 1>there and I'm not even realizing it. But happened twice <v Speaker 1>really fast, and I think I know what's going on here. Uh, <v Speaker 1>all right, last story here. Dispatch, the superhero comedy from <v Speaker 1>ex Telltale debs confirms PC plus PS five release date <v Speaker 1>and episode release. Dispatched, the upcoming workplace superhero comedy adventure <v Speaker 1>game with a strategy layer from a group of ex <v Speaker 1>Telltale developers, is coming to PC and PlayStation five on <v Speaker 1>October twenty second. It will be released episodically over the <v Speaker 1>course of four weeks, with two episodes dropping each week <v Speaker 1>starting on October twenty second. It's priced at thirty dollars <v Speaker 1>for the full season or forty dollars for the deluxe <v Speaker 1>version of the full season that includes a digital art <v Speaker 1>book and four digital comics. You took a look at <v Speaker 1>this as you get a go, you were able to <v Speaker 1>see it or what's up? <v Speaker 2>I did so press embargo for the little preview that <v Speaker 2>I sat in expired while we were on this call <v Speaker 2>about one kay ago so I could talk about this <v Speaker 2>game looks super neat man. So so you play as <v Speaker 2>this as it mentioned Robert Robertson, great name who used <v Speaker 2>to be a hero. He used to be like the <v Speaker 2>Iron Man of this world, mechan man, and he got <v Speaker 2>his suit taken away from him. The new trailer that <v Speaker 2>dropped today too or yesterday too, you will have this <v Speaker 2>and now he's this dispatcher of this right of this <v Speaker 2>like so these superheroes and he tell and you're basically <v Speaker 2>assigning superheroes certain jobs based on their personality traits. So <v Speaker 2>like if you have someone who is really strong, you're <v Speaker 2>gonna want to send them to lift a car off someone. <v Speaker 2>If you have someone who can fly, you want to <v Speaker 2>get a cat out of a tree. Right, They're not <v Speaker 2>like big jobs, they're just neat. They need superheroes to <v Speaker 2>do these jobs. But then eventually you may have one <v Speaker 2>of them ask you for assistance, and then you patch <v Speaker 2>into the building that they're in and you get different <v Speaker 2>perspectives from different cameras and you can. <v Speaker 1>Help to republic. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, and you can hack into those cameras through a <v Speaker 2>little hacking. Mini game reminded me of human revolution, whether <v Speaker 2>you like that or not, that's what it was. And <v Speaker 2>then you would go to the scene, would shift to <v Speaker 2>a different camera, and there's another hero in there. There <v Speaker 2>are a villain in there, and you have to alert <v Speaker 2>your hero that they're there, walk them through, tell them <v Speaker 2>where they might be. Your choices affect what happens in <v Speaker 2>the battle, so on and so forth. I don't want <v Speaker 2>to I don't want to know what the branching storyline <v Speaker 2>looks like with that final poster. Looks like it's probably immense, <v Speaker 2>but it it looks it just like it had a <v Speaker 2>lot of very interesting aspects to it, more than just <v Speaker 2>the telltale dialogue choices right, Like the the dispatch screen <v Speaker 2>where you have your I think it's like eight different <v Speaker 2>heroes listed here. One of them is a batman. His <v Speaker 2>name is Sonar. One of them is like he's a <v Speaker 2>he's a a fire he uses fire, but he's also <v Speaker 2>like very attractive. His name is Flom bay b A. <v Speaker 1>I love that. <v Speaker 2>Uh, And like, so you're you're dispatching them to these places. <v Speaker 2>Things can happen on the way. You have a map <v Speaker 2>of the city that shows you, like where there, it's <v Speaker 2>it's it just looks really really neat. I'm very I <v Speaker 2>was excited for you anyway, because I love Telltale games. <v Speaker 2>I always did. But this extra little layer of strategy elements, <v Speaker 2>like they're saying and hacking and and how it's feed <v Speaker 2>into the story I think is very very cool. And <v Speaker 2>also I like their episodic structure. Yes it is eight episodes, <v Speaker 2>but it's two episodes a week for four weeks. Bang <v Speaker 2>bang bang bang. That. Yes, that's how it should be <v Speaker 2>done from now on. I remember The Walking Dead taking <v Speaker 2>three months per episode. I remember it being very frustrating. <v Speaker 2>This is the way to do it. And also too, <v Speaker 2>as Chat reminds me, I should talk about that the <v Speaker 2>canse list is nothing to sneeze at, right, So you <v Speaker 2>have Aaron Paul is the one guy. Jeffrey Wright isn't <v Speaker 2>here as well. Yeah, you have a lot of peers <v Speaker 2>doing voices. You have moist Critical doing voice, Jack Septicay <v Speaker 2>doing a voice, a couple other names that I wasn't <v Speaker 2>entirely familiar with. I think thought Squad is one of <v Speaker 2>them that's over my head. But a very Laura Bailey <v Speaker 2>is in it at Matt Mercer. I keep forgetting those <v Speaker 2>two names, but they're in there as well. It just <v Speaker 2>it pressed every button when I saw this, when I <v Speaker 2>sat it on this and watch the trailer. Seems really <v Speaker 2>cool and I am I'm really pulling for it. October <v Speaker 2>twenty second, definitely circled, going to play those first two episodes, <v Speaker 2>going to play them all and see where it takes me. <v Speaker 2>Keep it on your radar. So I'm going to say <v Speaker 2>that the demo was pretty cool. <v Speaker 1>I'm also a fan of many of the Telltale games. <v Speaker 1>I like any sort of game where you play in <v Speaker 1>your head and that's where the decisions happen, and it's <v Speaker 1>like you're like people are like, hey, you know, but <v Speaker 1>these things with all these paths sometimes they lead to <v Speaker 1>the same point. It's like, yeah, you're not supposed to <v Speaker 1>be worried about that. You're supposed to be worried about <v Speaker 1>how you feel about the choices you're making. And if <v Speaker 1>the game does that, then it's successful. And if you <v Speaker 1>go try to find the branching path to like see <v Speaker 1>what's the perfect way of doing something, like, you're just <v Speaker 1>kind of not playing it the way it's meant to <v Speaker 1>be played. So it's yeah, and now this sounds like <v Speaker 1>it's got even more going on. I'll check this out. <v Speaker 1>Sounds very for sure. All Right, that does it for <v Speaker 1>the headlines. Before we get to the poll question, Chris <v Speaker 1>Kish super chat here says Live daily Gaming news is <v Speaker 1>still new to me and I love it. Thank you guys, <v Speaker 1>keep working hard. We will Chris Kish and Joel has <v Speaker 1>a reporting request chat here. Will we be able to <v Speaker 1>play Metroid Prime four on the Virtual Boy peripheral move <v Speaker 1>over Half Life Alex, Look, you can do whatever you want. <v Speaker 1>There's a way to find out how to do that. <v Speaker 1>Would that work probably the first person? Right? <v Speaker 2>No, yeah, but it's like it's not going to be yeah, <v Speaker 2>maybe not. <v Speaker 1>You would have to like sort of hack it. Maybe <v Speaker 1>even you'd have to hack it a physically, like add <v Speaker 1>a new lens to like send the one screen out <v Speaker 1>to both lenses separately in some way, and set of mirrors. <v Speaker 1>I don't know, I'm already trying to engineer something here. <v Speaker 2>Just isolate yourself in the virtual boy alone. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you could just like put it in a cardboard <v Speaker 1>box and put your head in the cardboard box. That's <v Speaker 1>that's maybe the move right there, Joel. We'll get to <v Speaker 1>work on that and try to find out what we <v Speaker 1>can find for you. All right, we have a pull <v Speaker 1>question to get to one from Monday. I have the <v Speaker 1>results over here. I should just go ahead and refresh <v Speaker 1>to make sure they're fully updated. All right, let's see here, <v Speaker 1>what game do you want most from a somniac after Wolverine? <v Speaker 1>Your options were Venom, New Spider Man, X Men, New Ratchet, <v Speaker 1>and Clink. I'm gonna go ahead and vote for a <v Speaker 1>new Ratchet and Clink myself to get the results here. <v Speaker 1>Nine percent said a New spider Man, eleven percent said Venom, <v Speaker 1>and then forty percent said both this is a tie <v Speaker 1>X Men and the new or a new Ratchet Clink <v Speaker 1>not the new as if one exists, so people were <v Speaker 1>really excited for either like either really new or going <v Speaker 1>back to the old Spider Man. I think people are like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>that's like I would love it, but that's well trodden ground, <v Speaker 1>and even Venoms like, yeah, we've got to play us <v Speaker 1>amain Spider Man two. How do you feel about this? <v Speaker 1>Where do you want Insomniac to go? <v Speaker 2>I wouldn't mind seeing them branch out a little bit. <v Speaker 2>I completely understand the nine percent new Spider Man. They <v Speaker 2>want to see them something do something different. That makes <v Speaker 2>perfect sense to me. I wouldn't mind Venom. I think <v Speaker 2>Venom was one of the cool reports of Spider Man two. <v Speaker 2>But I also so really like the idea of an <v Speaker 2>X Men like take whatever the co op idea was <v Speaker 2>from the Spider Man game that was shelved and turned <v Speaker 2>that into an X Men game that that could be neat. <v Speaker 2>I think that would be a really cool idea. They <v Speaker 2>also I think Sony does Sony still have the X <v Speaker 2>Men publishing rights like they do with Spider Man when <v Speaker 2>it comes to movies and stuff like that or games, <v Speaker 2>I guess in this case too. <v Speaker 1>So it's a little bit different. So like for movies <v Speaker 1>for Spider Man, Sony has both, and it's a little <v Speaker 1>bit limited for video games where it's just like the <v Speaker 1>big style video game for X Men that they were <v Speaker 1>that was Fox, So that's now over at Disney for movies. <v Speaker 1>For video games, it's bounced around a bunch. But they <v Speaker 1>clearly do have X Men for this next Insomniac game. <v Speaker 1>It seems like that's where it is now, and that <v Speaker 1>that was from the leaks. So they have not confirmed <v Speaker 1>that publicly still, but they made I mean, they are <v Speaker 1>making a Wolverine game, so they do. They are working <v Speaker 1>in the X Men stuff. We know that for sure, <v Speaker 1>and now it sounds like they have the universe beyond <v Speaker 1>Wolverine as well. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, okay, then yeah, X Men would be my choice. <v Speaker 2>I think, oh yeah, I think that we are probably <v Speaker 2>a little bit ways. <v Speaker 1>I think what we get next after Wolverine is Venom, <v Speaker 1>and then we get probably X Men, and then maybe <v Speaker 1>a ratchet and Clank at some point on the PS <v Speaker 1>six way down the line overdrive too. <v Speaker 2>How about that? <v Speaker 1>Any minute? Now check in my watch any minute? All right, <v Speaker 1>we have a new poll question. We will get to <v Speaker 1>it here in a second. Before we do that, though, <v Speaker 1>Jason FONELI why don't you tell people where they can <v Speaker 1>find you on the internet, what you have going on <v Speaker 1>and all that good stuff. <v Speaker 2>Jasonfinelli dot com on Blue Sky, big Man, Finelle, everywhere else. <v Speaker 2>I am writing news at game Spot, writing reviews at MMO, <v Speaker 2>RPG dot com. I will be in Atlanta next week <v Speaker 2>for Magic Con. Come find me with your commander Decks. <v Speaker 2>Would love to get a game in with you. Throughout <v Speaker 2>the weekend. I have guarded posting, as I mentioned at <v Speaker 2>the top of the show on my personal YouTube channel, <v Speaker 2>just things that come to mind, inspired by one Jeff <v Speaker 2>Grubb and his monologues that he does from time to time. <v Speaker 2>If you watch the first one, thank you, and I <v Speaker 2>apologize for recording it at twelve thirty am. That's why <v Speaker 2>I seem like I was a little sluggish. Probably shouldn't <v Speaker 2>have done that. Next one should be going up today. <v Speaker 2>I have an interview with a very cool developer about <v Speaker 2>a very cool game right after this at the bottom <v Speaker 2>of the hour, and I'm going to edit that and <v Speaker 2>post it, trying to have that done by the end <v Speaker 2>of today. I'm very excited to talk about that. You <v Speaker 2>come check that out when I post it. Other than that, <v Speaker 2>just you know, vibing, because that's what we do. It's <v Speaker 2>coming up to October baseball. My team is in and <v Speaker 2>every time I go to sleep, they're losing, And every <v Speaker 2>time I wake up, they've won the game on this <v Speaker 2>westone trip so far. <v Speaker 1>Thank it's a good sign. <v Speaker 2>Listen, listen, Dodgers fans. Dodgers fans, Dodgers fans, ask, tell <v Speaker 2>me why Dave Roberts takes out Otani in the fifth <v Speaker 2>inning during a no hitter. Why did he do that? <v Speaker 2>Why did you do that? Because the next picture gave <v Speaker 2>up five runs. <v Speaker 1>They're probably numbers say that's what we do. Now, let's say, <v Speaker 1>oh boy. <v Speaker 2>Rop it anyway. But yeah, So it's it's playoff baseball time. Man. <v Speaker 2>And if you thought I was nuts during the Super <v Speaker 2>Bowl that was one three hour game, imagine what the <v Speaker 2>entire month of October is gonna look like for me. <v Speaker 2>If this team makes deep run, it's uh, it's it's <v Speaker 2>gonna be. Next time you talk to me mid October, probably. <v Speaker 1>Like, hey, Jeff's I've seen some shit ation But all right, <v Speaker 1>new pole question. Are you ready for Hades too? Yes <v Speaker 1>or no? I'm trying to get ready. I'm like I did, <v Speaker 1>I got credits in Silk Song, but there's still a <v Speaker 1>lot I when I'm actually doing that game. Uh, but <v Speaker 1>Hades two is calling. It's ready to go here very soon. <v Speaker 1>We're talking like what eight days something like that. That <v Speaker 1>it's rough stuff. But maybe maybe I'll be ready at <v Speaker 1>that point. I don't. I don't know how I'll actually <v Speaker 1>end up answering this pool. We'll see, Sada. Is that <v Speaker 1>a game you're more likely to play than Silk Song <v Speaker 1>Hades two? <v Speaker 2>Yes, I have become very much into the Roague Lights. <v Speaker 2>I like the games like that, so and a Haites <v Speaker 2>one is incredible, So yes, bring me Hades too. I <v Speaker 2>have waited. I have not touched any of the early <v Speaker 2>access I have not I haven't had a time. But <v Speaker 2>when this thing comes out, I'm now realizing it will <v Speaker 2>come out the week it comes out next week, right, <v Speaker 2>So next week I have something to play on the <v Speaker 2>flight to Atlanta. <v Speaker 1>May go Yeah, all right, perfect, All right, So we <v Speaker 1>got that out of the way. We're gonna get the <v Speaker 1>results of that poll on tomorrow's episode of Game Mess <v Speaker 1>Mornings here on Giant Bomb. Speaking of Giant Bomb, we <v Speaker 1>have plenty of going on Lego Voyagers. Me and Jan <v Speaker 1>are gonna play that. It's you with me, right, Jan, <v Speaker 1>We're gonna play that later today here, not too long <v Speaker 1>after Game Mess mornings. It'll be between that and of <v Speaker 1>course light Club returning. We're doing that, and we bring <v Speaker 1>up to count to make sure we have our time. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>two pm Eastern for Light Club. Could be the last <v Speaker 1>episode of Virtual Highlight. Might not be. Honestly, it's hard <v Speaker 1>to tell, but myke he continues to make some progress. <v Speaker 1>We're not exactly sure what he's going to need to <v Speaker 1>complete his quest there, but the very least you can <v Speaker 1>come and root on, Sir Mitchell lot at two pm. <v Speaker 1>I'm looking forward to it, and then you know, if <v Speaker 1>he does finish it, then we got Dan's game ready <v Speaker 1>to go, So look forward to find out a little <v Speaker 1>bit more of a tease about what that could be. <v Speaker 1>All right, got that out of the way, Jason Fanilli, <v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today <v Speaker 1>and talk about video games. Man, I really appreciate it. <v Speaker 2>It is always a pleasure. Jeff, thank you for having <v Speaker 2>me and for putting up with my bullshit. <v Speaker 1>Thank you all for listening and watching. You are the <v Speaker 1>best audience in gaming. Until next time, have a good one, <v Speaker 1>take care of yourself and goodbye.
