Oh, Yeah. You Saw a Bigfoot. - My Bigfoot Sighting Shorts Episode 12

<v Speaker 1>My big Foot sighting happened in Lane County, Oregon. My
<v Speaker 1>name is Delania Clarkson, and in two thousand and eight
<v Speaker 1>I lived in Cottage Grove, Oregon, which is on the
<v Speaker 1>side of I five, a little south of Eugene, about
<v Speaker 1>I would say fifteen minutes south of Eugene. Between Cottage
<v Speaker 1>Grove and Eugene, which is a pretty major city. It's
<v Speaker 1>where University of Oregon is, there is a little town
<v Speaker 1>called Creswell, and so you can go from Cottage Grove
<v Speaker 1>north to Cresswell on I five, which is the main highway.
<v Speaker 1>It's a super main highway that goes from I believe
<v Speaker 1>possibly Lio, Washington all the way down to California. It's
<v Speaker 1>a pretty major highway. But there's parallel back roads that
<v Speaker 1>you can go from Cottage Grove to Crestwell. And Cottage
<v Speaker 1>Grove is a little town to Cresswell that parallel I five.
<v Speaker 1>And so in two thousand and eight, about the end
<v Speaker 1>of September, like the beginning of October, I had an
<v Speaker 1>interview at the Cresswell Golf Club. And so it's this
<v Speaker 1>golf club which is basically a driving range, and like
<v Speaker 1>I think it was like a nine hole and it
<v Speaker 1>had like a clubhouse and it was along a road,
<v Speaker 1>a back road that went from Cottage Grove north to Cresswell,
<v Speaker 1>and it was on the east side of the road
<v Speaker 1>with a hill behind the driving range, just you know, trees,
<v Speaker 1>and it goes those hills go on forever like with trees.
<v Speaker 1>And then on the west side of it, there's a
<v Speaker 1>two lane road that parallels I five, that goes from
<v Speaker 1>Cottge Grove to Cresswell, one lane going one way and
<v Speaker 1>the other way and going the other way. And so
<v Speaker 1>to set it up, like the golf clubhouse is on
<v Speaker 1>the east side of the road and on the west
<v Speaker 1>side of the road is a parking lot. So I
<v Speaker 1>was driving to the golf club for an interview at
<v Speaker 1>about ten thirty in the morning, and I was in
<v Speaker 1>a land Rover and my boyfriend at the time was
<v Speaker 1>a hunter and that was his hunting rig, and so
<v Speaker 1>it was decked out. It had like racks on top
<v Speaker 1>and racks in front of it. Was it was a
<v Speaker 1>you know, he decked out car. It was not a
<v Speaker 1>little car. So I took that back road from Cottage
<v Speaker 1>Grove to the golf club and it's before the country Club.
<v Speaker 1>Golf Club coming deal and it's before you hit the
<v Speaker 1>actual town of Cresswell. And so the parking lot to
<v Speaker 1>this club is on the west side, across the two
<v Speaker 1>lane road from it, and so it's kind of pushed
<v Speaker 1>up on a nool, So it's like a bunch of
<v Speaker 1>land and kind of pushed up, and it's just a
<v Speaker 1>gravel parking lot, or it was at that time. And
<v Speaker 1>between High five and the road it goes down. So
<v Speaker 1>if you're heading to Codgegrove from Creswall going south, I
<v Speaker 1>five is on your right, and it goes down on
<v Speaker 1>the side of the road that runs parallel to it. It
<v Speaker 1>goes kind of down into a ravine and there's some
<v Speaker 1>woods there, and you know, there's people's plots of lands,
<v Speaker 1>and you can hear I five and on the parallel
<v Speaker 1>road bits and pieces you can sometimes see it. And
<v Speaker 1>that comes not kind of into play, but I thought
<v Speaker 1>it was odd, and I'll explain later with that. But
<v Speaker 1>so late ten thirty morning, I pull into this gravel
<v Speaker 1>parking lot and there's like a couple of cars there.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, it's it's pretty early. I'm there for an
<v Speaker 1>interview for just being a waitress there at the clubhouse,
<v Speaker 1>and because it's like late September, there's still kind of
<v Speaker 1>a haze of like a fog that hasn't quite burned
<v Speaker 1>off yet. And so I'm getting out of the land
<v Speaker 1>where and I remember I have my resume in my hands,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm shutting the door behind the car door behind me.
<v Speaker 1>And as I do this, I'm turning to walk toward
<v Speaker 1>the building, which is on the other side of just
<v Speaker 1>this two lane road through the gravel parking lot, and
<v Speaker 1>I sweep my eyes, you know, as you would do
<v Speaker 1>as you turn, you just kind of look and I see,
<v Speaker 1>so there's any since you're kind of I'm kind of
<v Speaker 1>up on a null. The parking lot is you can
<v Speaker 1>kind of see down to on the side of the
<v Speaker 1>road and goes down to the kind of this ravine,
<v Speaker 1>and there's some trees you can kind of see down
<v Speaker 1>because you're up at an upper point of view. And
<v Speaker 1>so there was definitely like a major tree line that
<v Speaker 1>went down from like on the side of the road,
<v Speaker 1>drops down to kind of this ravine, and it went
<v Speaker 1>through or on the side of people's lands. And I'm
<v Speaker 1>assuming eventually to I five, and so I assume there's
<v Speaker 1>a creek there, right, because there's like an abundance of
<v Speaker 1>trees like just you could clearly see it. And so
<v Speaker 1>as I'm like getting out of my car and shutting
<v Speaker 1>the door and I'm you know, turning to walk and
<v Speaker 1>my eyes are sweeping around, there's I see this, well,
<v Speaker 1>it looks like it for trees that are on you know,
<v Speaker 1>along this creek what I assume is a creek, you
<v Speaker 1>know creek. And as I'm turning, I see this tree
<v Speaker 1>double up in size, like it unfolds, like it stands up.
<v Speaker 1>And I if it hadn't done that at that exact moment,
<v Speaker 1>I would have never seen that. I would have never
<v Speaker 1>seen it because it was so well camouflaged. It wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>have happened. But at that moment, I saw it double
<v Speaker 1>in size. Now I have been scared a lot of
<v Speaker 1>times in my life, and we've all been in scary situations.
<v Speaker 1>But I'll tell you what, I have never ever felt
<v Speaker 1>tear the way that I felt terror at that second,
<v Speaker 1>Never before that and never since then. It was like
<v Speaker 1>a gut check, like you know, like I can still
<v Speaker 1>remember me breathing, just just what is that? And it
<v Speaker 1>was something that my mind, it couldn't compete, like I
<v Speaker 1>could computed, like I didn't understand it was massive, like
<v Speaker 1>it was so like suddenly like as it unfolds, I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>oh my god. And I'm like probably a good fifty
<v Speaker 1>to seventy five yards away for a minute, and I
<v Speaker 1>see kind of like its arms as I'm looking at it.
<v Speaker 1>And I don't know how long this was. It just seconds,
<v Speaker 1>but it fell a lot longer. And I'm looking at
<v Speaker 1>it and like I begin to see the outline of
<v Speaker 1>its kind of arms hanging to the side, and you
<v Speaker 1>could see the fur in its like around its face,
<v Speaker 1>and I couldn't see its face. I didn't look long
<v Speaker 1>enough to even begin to try to decipher all those
<v Speaker 1>details that wasn't happening. But the fur around its face
<v Speaker 1>was lighter, for it was like a rang Tian kind
<v Speaker 1>of like a reddish fur, and it was dark and
<v Speaker 1>around that, and I remember thinking a million thoughts at
<v Speaker 1>that second, like what is that? You know? Like what
<v Speaker 1>is that? You know? And I've seen bears in my life.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not an avid hunter. I'm not an all out woodsman.
<v Speaker 1>I grew up in Beaverden in Oregon, which is a
<v Speaker 1>uburb of Portland, Oregon. You know, I wouldn't call myself
<v Speaker 1>an urban eye. But I'm definitely not, you know, a
<v Speaker 1>foresery person. But I've camped out and you know, I've
<v Speaker 1>done all that. But I've seen bears. I've seen a
<v Speaker 1>black beard south like, Oh, I've seen it grizzly. That
<v Speaker 1>was no bear. The magnitude of this thing was just
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, and it was just didn't say and
<v Speaker 1>I didn't know what to think of it. I didn't
<v Speaker 1>understand what was happening. Right then. All I could think
<v Speaker 1>of was what is that? And then thinking, oh, this,
<v Speaker 1>this range rover isn't going to do it. This isn't
<v Speaker 1>gonna this isn't gonna hold. This is gonna do it,
<v Speaker 1>and then thinking immediately after that, can I make it
<v Speaker 1>from where I'm at to that building across that two
<v Speaker 1>lane road before that thing makes it here? And I'm
<v Speaker 1>thinking that could make it here in three strides, you know,
<v Speaker 1>like this thing can do. This thing can just walk
<v Speaker 1>right over these fence lines. I'm seeing this is not
<v Speaker 1>and I I remember just it's a fight or flight.
<v Speaker 1>I booked it. I just slammed my door and ran.
<v Speaker 1>And it wasn't a long distance, you know, across this
<v Speaker 1>gravel parking a two lane road, there's the clubhouse. The
<v Speaker 1>whole time I was running, I absolutely knew something was
<v Speaker 1>gonna grab me. It didn't happen, but I knew in
<v Speaker 1>my mind, like I was just waiting, just waiting for
<v Speaker 1>whatever that was to grab the back of my shirt.
<v Speaker 1>In my mind, I knew that's gonna happen. It had
<v Speaker 1>to have seen me. How could have not have seen me?
<v Speaker 1>I saw it. That thing. You get here, and it
<v Speaker 1>should be here right now. That's how fast, like, that's
<v Speaker 1>how big that thing is. And I got into the clubhouse.
<v Speaker 1>I remember closing the door behind me, and there was
<v Speaker 1>maybe like a couple employees in there, and I'm thinking,
<v Speaker 1>as I'm looking around the clubhouse, oh no, this is
<v Speaker 1>not big enough, this is this is not gonna do it.
<v Speaker 1>And I remember asking does anyone have a gun? And
<v Speaker 1>then I remember telling someone there's something huge out there.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know what that is, because growing up, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you heard about sasquatch or Bigfoot. But in Beavert And, Oregon,
<v Speaker 1>which is a you know, it's a suburb. That didn't
<v Speaker 1>really affect me. It didn't affect my life in any
<v Speaker 1>kind of way. I was agnaustic toward bigfoot. I wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>believe one way or another because it didn't really affect
<v Speaker 1>my life, you know. So seeing this thing, like, you know,
<v Speaker 1>I didn't at first, I didn't understand what it was.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't go straight to Sasquatch bigfoot I because I
<v Speaker 1>that wasn't a mainframe in my life. That's I just
<v Speaker 1>didn't understand what could be that huge. So me in
<v Speaker 1>this employee walked across to the parking lot and it's gone.
<v Speaker 1>It's gone, you know. And I didn't get that job.
<v Speaker 1>But I remember being so terrified that I didn't take
<v Speaker 1>that back road home. I went all the way to
<v Speaker 1>the town of Crestwell and took I five that freeway home.
<v Speaker 1>I called my boyfriend, who was a hunter at that time.
<v Speaker 1>He was an avid hunter, he's a big hunter, and
<v Speaker 1>I told him what I saw and he's like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you saw a bigfoot. I'm like, what, like so this
<v Speaker 1>is a thing, Like so this is a thing, you know.
<v Speaker 1>And he was really not a lot And I didn't
<v Speaker 1>really get into depth of him after that because again,
<v Speaker 1>like this this wasn't It scared me enough at that
<v Speaker 1>moment not to take that road back It scared me
<v Speaker 1>enough to go in to a place where I had
<v Speaker 1>an interview and asked if someone had a gun, which
<v Speaker 1>you would never hear those words come out of my mouth.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, that is not where I go to. That's
<v Speaker 1>how much it scared me to do, like asking these
<v Speaker 1>things that would never have come up in any other conversation,
<v Speaker 1>especially before an interview. This is like the last thing
<v Speaker 1>I want anyone to see is me like freaked out
<v Speaker 1>over something huge I saw out there. And even when
<v Speaker 1>I told this to my boyfriend, I was like, what
<v Speaker 1>that was so close to I mean, I five, they're
<v Speaker 1>that close to the to the freeway, you know, and
<v Speaker 1>you know, like what Like I just assumed that they
<v Speaker 1>were out in the middle of some I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>in the like way out in the middle of the
<v Speaker 1>woods or something. You know. I was pretty naive to it.
<v Speaker 1>And to think I told him and his family, his mom,
<v Speaker 1>and they were all big hunters, and it just seemed
<v Speaker 1>like it was a thing, no big deal, Yeah there's
<v Speaker 1>bigfoot there. They're out there. And after that experience, I
<v Speaker 1>didn't indulge. Like I went on with my life. I
<v Speaker 1>still went camping. I didn't it didn't affect me. It
<v Speaker 1>didn't and terrorize me. But again, I was seventy five
<v Speaker 1>fifty seventy five yards from it looking up on the knoll.
<v Speaker 1>If I had been closer to it that, I assume
<v Speaker 1>that would be it would affect them greatly, because it
<v Speaker 1>affected me enough where I oftentimes wonder now as I
<v Speaker 1>think about it, like did I really see what I
<v Speaker 1>saw or was that just a trick in my mind?
<v Speaker 1>But what keeps me knowing that is I never felt
<v Speaker 1>that terror ever before that or after that. It was
<v Speaker 1>some kind of terror that goes to the depth of
<v Speaker 1>your soul where you're just like, I don't understand what
<v Speaker 1>I'm saying, this is not what is this? You know?
<v Speaker 1>And having it be such a large magnitude at that time,
<v Speaker 1>like oh my god, this thing could crush me. I
<v Speaker 1>don't have any defenses even what possible thing could to
<v Speaker 1>defend against this. This is this could make it here
<v Speaker 1>in no time Like that scared me at that moment.
<v Speaker 1>But afterwards, I still went camping with my friends, you know,
<v Speaker 1>I still it didn't really impair my life one way
<v Speaker 1>or another. I'm not going to say I'm a believer
<v Speaker 1>because I saw one, so I know they're out there
<v Speaker 1>saw it. I didn't. It wasn't a bear, It wasn't
<v Speaker 1>anything else than what I saw and the way that
<v Speaker 1>I felt. That's how I know. And so in the
<v Speaker 1>last couple of years, it wasn't something I didn't tell people,
<v Speaker 1>but it wasn't something that I really I kind of
<v Speaker 1>categorized it or like logged it somewhere, but it was
<v Speaker 1>not something that I would remember right, you know, right
<v Speaker 1>away and say, hey, check this experience out, or have
<v Speaker 1>kept it a secret, like I don't want to tell
<v Speaker 1>anyone because they're going to think weirdly of me that
<v Speaker 1>it really wasn't a major part of my life in
<v Speaker 1>any kind of way where I would have to do
<v Speaker 1>one way or another on that. But in the last
<v Speaker 1>like years, so I've been talking to, you know, a
<v Speaker 1>couple of friends of mine, and they one of my
<v Speaker 1>friends live in Oakridge, Oregon, which is east of Cottage Grove,
<v Speaker 1>and so there's been a lot of sightings through Oakridge,
<v Speaker 1>organ and she has she didn't see one, but she
<v Speaker 1>had camped out in Oakridge and in the middle of
<v Speaker 1>the night her and her boyfriend heard a bipedal thing
<v Speaker 1>walk past their tent and they were camped out, she said.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I said, well on private land her father
<v Speaker 1>in laws or boyfriend's father's land, and way back there.
<v Speaker 1>There's no way that someone could have been on that land,
<v Speaker 1>she said. And it brushed against our tent, and the smell,
<v Speaker 1>she said, was ridiculously horrid. And so that's her. I mean,
<v Speaker 1>it was an inciding by her, but it was definitely
<v Speaker 1>an experience like an orkerage. So she' I like, I
<v Speaker 1>talked to a couple of my friends just because it
<v Speaker 1>kind of came up in a roundabout way, and then
<v Speaker 1>I've just talked about it like a little bit more
<v Speaker 1>to people, and I kind of I'm on YouTube. I
<v Speaker 1>was just kind of checking things out, you know, watching
<v Speaker 1>like bigfoot stuff. And I don't know why I'm talking
<v Speaker 1>about it or more so, or if it's more in
<v Speaker 1>my life, because it really isn't that it has before,
<v Speaker 1>you know, since two thousand and eight. But there's not
<v Speaker 1>really a stigma that I see in organ about it
<v Speaker 1>at least, you know. I mean, like the times that
<v Speaker 1>I have talked about it, I haven't had anyone laugh
<v Speaker 1>at me. I haven't had anyone, you know, people just
<v Speaker 1>seem to accept it more. I guess in the Pacific
<v Speaker 1>Northwest what I've been seeing on the Bigfoot shows. And
<v Speaker 1>I think it's interesting that, like I see these shows
<v Speaker 1>where people are trying to get a sighting for like years,
<v Speaker 1>like years, like these people seem to be running around
<v Speaker 1>like trying to get sightings. I guess what, I'd like
<v Speaker 1>talking about it more because I didn't realize it was
<v Speaker 1>such a rare thing until I started watching these YouTube shows.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't go into researching it because I know that
<v Speaker 1>it's there, so like to me researching something that like, well,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know what research would be done about it
<v Speaker 1>for me at least, you know, I do feel kind
<v Speaker 1>of I would say privileged to be able to see one,
<v Speaker 1>because as I now see it, it's, I guess, a
<v Speaker 1>pretty rare thing. And as I'm getting older, I'm you know,
<v Speaker 1>I'm feeling a little more I guess grateful for that experience.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, it was pretty horrific at the time, in
<v Speaker 1>the sense I wouldn't say horrific, I would say terrorizing.
<v Speaker 1>It's not horrific. I wasn't in horror. I was in
<v Speaker 1>more of a what just terror of like I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>my mind can't compute what this doesn't. I don't understand
<v Speaker 1>what this is right now. And so like you know,
<v Speaker 1>my friend that had that experience or whatever you want
<v Speaker 1>to call it, not a siting in Oakreage. You know,
<v Speaker 1>she still goes out in camps. You know, it hasn't
<v Speaker 1>affected her life either at all, And so I haven't
<v Speaker 1>got ready into research. I'm not obsessive with the Bigfoot
<v Speaker 1>like I see a lot, like I've seen kind of
<v Speaker 1>on shows, and I don't have any friends that are
<v Speaker 1>really into that but acknowledge that it's out there and
<v Speaker 1>still go on camping and do with their daily life.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I don't know if that would be different
<v Speaker 1>if I had seen it at a closer setting. I
<v Speaker 1>only assume that the more clearly, the more close you
<v Speaker 1>get to it, the bigger it is, and the more
<v Speaker 1>terrifying that would be to me. You know, the terror
<v Speaker 1>that I felt from where I was was adrenaline and
<v Speaker 1>terrorizing enough, so I can't even imagine how that would
<v Speaker 1>be the closer that you get, so to that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's my bigfit experience, and I am pretty grateful and
<v Speaker 1>for it. Again, I have to say it because I guess,
<v Speaker 1>you know, I just assumed that random people saw it
<v Speaker 1>randomly and it was just kind of, you know, whatever
<v Speaker 1>it was or it wasn't, I don't know. But now
<v Speaker 1>that I have seen one, I've never seen anything like it.
<v Speaker 1>I've never felt any kind of terror like that, and
<v Speaker 1>I've been in some pretty scary situation since then where
<v Speaker 1>this terror that I felt was a gut check just
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. I guess it's it was really hard
<v Speaker 1>for me to wrap my mind around something that I
<v Speaker 1>don't understand what that is, you know, and how big
<v Speaker 1>it was to see like a fur tree that I
<v Speaker 1>thought was a fur tree, because that's what I initially
<v Speaker 1>thought to see it unfold as I'm glancing by, because
<v Speaker 1>there are fur trees on either side of it, But
<v Speaker 1>that thing unfolded, it just became it became two and
<v Speaker 1>one like it just it just unfolded up, like it
<v Speaker 1>became like a tree upon a tree, like it was
<v Speaker 1>like it doubled in size, And I just think, well,
<v Speaker 1>what are the odds? What are the odds of me
<v Speaker 1>glancing around and just seeing it do it at that
<v Speaker 1>one second? Because if I hadn't seen it unfolded, I
<v Speaker 1>would have never seen that. I would have never seen
<v Speaker 1>because it was so well camouflaged. I would have never
<v Speaker 1>seen that. So I wonder, did it did it see me?
<v Speaker 1>You know, I don't. I don't know. Did it do
<v Speaker 1>that on purpose or just was that a casual thing.
<v Speaker 1>I don't even know, but I know that when we
<v Speaker 1>went back out there to look at it, it was gone,
<v Speaker 1>you know. And I didn't imagine that, because why would I.
<v Speaker 1>You know what I'm saying. I was going there for
<v Speaker 1>an interview. I'm like, what, you know, which maybe I
<v Speaker 1>didn't get because I was freaking everybody out when I
<v Speaker 1>went in there, asking people for soon had a gun,
<v Speaker 1>you know. So yeah, that's it. That's what I really
<v Speaker 1>got to say.
