707: Week 10 Sleepers

We had another pretty good week on The Sleeper Show. Last week. Kenyan Drake had a huge outing, Kenneth Gainwell found the end zone. Jeff Wilson was a top ten running back. Noah Fan, Isaiah Likely, and Kate Otten were all decent streaming options. Josh Palmer had one hundred and six receiving yards. Even Terris Marshall got it done with a top twenty performance. With that being said, even though I did call out justin Fields to someone to play who has rostered in more than fifty percent of leagues, the backup streamer was Marcus Mariota and he was Trash Ravens wide receivers. They weren't very good and the Chiefs went away from the run game completely, so Isaiah Pacheco was not relevant. More on him in a bit though overall it was definitely a good week. I would absolutely love for each week to go as well as it did In week nine. That's just not possible given the type of players that we're working with. But over the last few weeks things have been strong, so let's hope regression does not hit all at once this week. We'll kick things off as we do each week, with play players rostered in ten to fifty percent of Yahoo leagues. My favorite streamer this week at quarterback. Jimmy Garoppolo, the guy talked about on the fifteen Transactions episode. I don't think he's in some smash spot so temper expectations, but Jimmy G has scored sixteen to eighteen fantasy points in each of his last three games. The forty nine Ers have the third highest implied team total on the week according to Fandals Sportsbook, and the Chargers's opponent. They're pretty average against quarterbacks and a justin fantasy points allowed. If you need someone to just give you some fantasy points, I think Jimmy G is your guy. Moving on to running back, I know people are probably sick of the Chiefs backfield and me talking about it, but this could finally be Isaiah Pacheco's week. We've seen the Chiefs play two games since switching up their backfield Snaphares, basically two games since Clyde Edwards Hilaire stopped being their main running back, and those two games were against the forty nine Ers and the Titans, two really tough matchups for running backs. The Jags are not that they're the tenth friendliest matchup for running backs. And justin fans, as he points allowed, and the Chiefs have a higher likelihood to not totally abandon the run game against them like they did against the Titans last week. Pacheco has now played more snaps than Cech and consecutive games, and I think he's okay enough as a flex option this week if you need a bye week. Villain Rashad White is under that fifty percent mark still and he's in play this week. In Week nine, White had eight carries to teammate Leonard Fournette's nine, and he had three targets to Fournette seven. The funny thing is we're seeing all this talk about White overtaking this backfield. It's really weird to me that this talk is coming after Week nine because White played thirty five percent of Tampa Bay snaps last week. That's a number that he's exceeded four other times this season. This isn't anything new. This is how they've deployed Rashad White, regardless the Buccaneers are facing the Seahawks. They've been a plus matchups for running backs this year, so you could do worse than Rashad White. Now, similar situations unfolding in Pittsburgh, where people were talking more and more about a switch from Najie Harris to Jalen Warren. But in Pittsburgh's last game, Warren played almost thirty percent of their snaps. He had a season high forty three percent running back rush here, I would anticipate the same thing happening in Week ten against the Saints, and New Orleans has been totally ordinary against running backs this year and adjusted fantasy points allowed. The last time we saw the Cowboys, Michael Gallup put up a season high twenty three percent target chair. Remember he's coming back from a really tough injury, it's not surprising to see a little bit of a ramp up period. His matchup against the Packers this week not ideal, but the Cowboys are expected to score over twenty three points in that game in terms of implied team total. If Galup can maintain that target share, he could work out. Now moving on, we're gonna go to Wandell Robinson. The Giants get the Texans this week, and Houston's actually been a top eight team against wide receivers and the justin fantasy points allowed this season, but they ranked fifteenth in percentage of targets that have gone to the slot, which is where Wandell lines up. Robinson only saw a nine point seven percent target chair the last time we saw New York, but that was a tougher matchup. This is an easier one, so I'm anticipating better usage and production from Wandell Robinson this week. I talked about Donovan People's Jones on the fifteen Transactions episode this week, and You've got to love this spot against the Dolphins. Miami's a slightly above average matchup for wideouts and adjusted fantasy points allowed, and People's Jones has seen at least twenty two percent of Cleveland's targets and four of his last five games. You always have to be concerned about Cleveland being run heavy, but teams against Miami have seen above average pass rates this season, largely because they have to maintain pace with the Dolphins offense. So I think DPJ is a very good play this week. I've got him as a fringe wide receiver three in my weekly rankings, and those weekly rankings, by the way, it can be found over on the Late Round Fantasy Football Patreon. Just head to Lateround dot com. Now I talk about Zay Jones a lot on this show because of his consistent target share in that Jaguars offense. Now he gets the Chiefs, where Jacksonville is almost definitely going to be forced to throw more. In fact, Kansas City has unsurprisingly faced the third highest pass rate in football this season, and that's resulted in adjusted Fantasy points allowed rank that's eleventh best for wide receivers. So Zey, who's still about in a nineteen percent target share in the season he works, though, I will say if he can't perform this week, it's going to be tough to trust him moving forward. Keenan Allen's status it's up in the air once again, and if he doesn't go, you'll want to play Josh Palmer. But Palmer's rostered in more than fifty percent of leagues, so you could always move to DeAndre Carter or Michael Bandy. Bandy's a deeper sleeper. He's rostered in fewer than ten percent of leagues. Very few leagues have Michael Bandy rostered. Carter's the more traditional play here. He saw fourteen percent of LA's targets this past week, and he played sixty percent of his snaps from the slot. The Chargers get San Francisco and the forty nine Ers have been below average against the slot this year, so you could go that route. This week. You could go with DeAndre Carter, and I would argue that you could still go with him even if Keenan Allen plays and Bandy played as the team's third wide out this past week. He actually saw more targets than DeAndre Carter, So if you want a deep option, you could go Bandy as long as Allan is sidelined. If Alan plays, you can't play Bandy. There has been a whole lot of chatter around Jarvis Landry, but he was reportedly close to returning this past week. I actually don't think that he's a bad dart throw type ad right now. With Michael Thomas done for the year, and he gets a Steelers defensive scheme this week that's not good against slot receivers. They have not been good against the slot in recent years. Even this year, they haven't been that good. So keep an eye on Jarvis Landry, keep an eye on those New Orleans practice reports. Terris Marshall. He's now an obvious play from this tier, at least I think so. He's seen a twenty percent plus target share in each of his last two games, and the Panthers get the Falcons again. Atlanta is bad defensively, especially against the pass. No team has allowed more fantasy points per game to wide out and adjusted fantasy points allowed this year than the Foullkins. The Falcons are giving up ten points over expectation per game to team wide receivers, meaning a group of wide receivers is walking away from that match up against Atlanta on average with ten more fantasy points as a team than their season long average. That makes Marshall a pretty good play. And then at tight end in this tier, I'm going back to Kate Aughton as long as Cameron Braid is sidelined. Since Brad's injury. No tight end in football has run more routes than Kate Oughton, and it's not even close. The Buccaneers are using him as their primary pass catching tight end and the Buccaneers are the pass heaviest team in the league. Now he gets Seattle, a top five matchup for tight ends and adjusted fantasy points allowed, So if Cameron Braid does not go, Aughton is a great streamer. The second and final tier consists of players rostered in less than ten percent of Yahoo leagues. So we're digging deep here, and admittedly I don't have a ton of players this week from this tier. The first is another quarterback streamer, and it's PJ. Walker. I don't feel great about Walker after last week's showing, but like I said with Terris Marshall, Atlanta has been really bad defensively this year. They're the third best matchup and adjusted fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Justin Herbert's Week nine performance, that was actually the worst of any quarterback against Atlanta this year, and he was missing his top two wide receivers and he still scored twelve fantasy points. It wasn't like it was a totally worthless performance. I'm not expecting the same type of shootout this week between Carolina and Atlanta like we saw a couple of weeks ago. But I do think Walker is in a good spot objectively at wide receiver. Sammy Watkins ran as Green Bay's number two wide out this past week with Romeo Dobs banged up and Christian Watson sidelined, so I guess you could give him a look. Dallas isn't really a matchup I'm trying to exploit, but Wakins should at least be out there now. He's apparently dealing with some bumps and bruises. He didn't practice on Wednesday. If he doesn't go, and if Christian Watson doesn't go, you could pivot to Samory Tore. He may end up being the better play straight up. It's just that Watkins has been playing ahead of him, so Watkins is the more official recommendation. Khalif Raymond has been running as Detroit's number two wide receiver, even though he's barely been a top fifty wide out over the last couple of weeks in PPR leagues. He's only seen eleven and thirteen percent of Detroit's targets over his last two but he's hit seventy five receiving yards in two of his last three, and like I said, he's running as their number two option, only trailing Aman Ross Saint Brown in routes run this past week. Now, the matchup isn't super attractive against Chicago, but he should be on the field getting some work. One guy I like more than the two that I just mentioned is Marvin Jones. I talked about the Chiefs matchup with Zay Jones earlier, and Marvin has gotten a little bit more love over the last month. He's said a twenty one percent target share this past week, and he had a twenty five percent target share a few weeks ago. Since Week five, Jones has actually tied for seventh in the entire NFL in fifteen plus air yard targets Zay Jones and Christian Kirk. They're still running more routes than Marvin Jones in this offense, but I'd expect a lot of three wide sets against the Chiefs this week. The Jags are probably going to be in a negative game script, and with Marvin Jones seeing those down the field, looks he's in a decent spot. And then finally there's Foster Moreau. Darren Waller cannot find the field and without Waller, Moreau's been playing that role in the Raiders offense. He's been playing the Darren Waller role. He's averaged a nineteen percent target chair per game over his last three and the Raiders this week they get the Colts. They've been a top ten matchup for tight ends this year, so he makes sense as a deeper streaming play now. As for the defensive streamers, I talked up New Orleans earlier this week, and they work against Pittsburgh. But I also think that you could go with Pittsburgh against New Orleans. It's projected to be a low scoring game. Pittsburgh's coming out of their by the Saints have a short week, and New Orleans has been the third best matchup for opposing defenses this year and adjusted fantasy points allowed. There's also the Raiders going up against the Colts. The Colts offense has just been horrendous, and then the Cardinals get the Rams. The Cardinals have been pretty average a generating pressure this year, and the Rams offensive line has been horrible and Matthew Stafford's now in concussion protocol. So I like the Cardinals defense this week against a Rams team that ranks as the second best matchup for defenses and adjustin fantasy points allowed this year.
