00:00:54
Speaker 4: Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four In this sedition sponsored by the T. J. Smith Office called TJ. Hill, make them pay dollar wings all day. My trivia is tonight, got some work to do, still on it haven't written all the questions, but they're gonna be ready this evening.

00:01:09
Speaker 5: You don't have some it's definitely themed.

00:01:11
Speaker 4: You know, we got sports starting, it's Halloween, we got the election coming, just all kinds of like you know, that's a little secret if you could maybe guess some of the topics.

00:01:21
Speaker 2: And you got your class today too, and you got a full day to day.

00:01:24
Speaker 4: I got all kinds of stuff. Do you know what, though, we just keep rolling. This is the time of year. This October and November drew both sports going on at the same time. You got all the World Series, you got Hurricanes, you got the hockey team.

00:01:40
Speaker 5: Say what, you got trivia, A lot of stuff happening.

00:01:42
Speaker 6: A lot of stuff happening. Long days, getting.

00:01:44
Speaker 5: Ready for our trip to Seattle. That's a month away. One month away. We will get in.

00:01:49
Speaker 4: The car and we will drive across these United States.

00:01:54
Speaker 2: And fly home.

00:01:56
Speaker 4: Right, We're gonna drive across these United States and then probably gonna fly home. Probably, But you know, listen, I don't know if you've been looking.

00:02:06
Speaker 5: Flights are alone. Actually they're actually.

00:02:09
Speaker 4: Not as expensive coming home from Seattle as I would have thought. But there's five of us, and so I thought maybe four of us would fly and you could drive a card back somebody here.

00:02:18
Speaker 5: I could drive the rental back. And then I think, I feel like that's fair, don't you.

00:02:21
Speaker 6: Yeah? Matt and I, you know, we like like fly a little bit. MAT's big flyers. Yeah, back with the car, allegiant, Ryan, don't come back with the car, and it's all good.

00:02:30
Speaker 4: You know the thing about like if they cancel your flight, uh, they have to like pay you back.

00:02:36
Speaker 5: You know that started that started yesterday? Did you know that?

00:02:38
Speaker 2: No? I didn't know that.

00:02:39
Speaker 5: So if they.

00:02:39
Speaker 4: Cancel your flight, uh, and you and you want, like if they cancel your flight, or if it's two hours late and you would rather get your money back, they they have to do it now. And if they lose your bags, if your bags are more than twelve hours late, they have to give you money. And there's like all kinds of stuff. And then I it's a whole new process.

00:03:02
Speaker 2: And I didn't know that went into effect yesterday.

00:03:04
Speaker 4: Yesterday, So starting now, just keep that in mind all your all your flights. If they if they mess it up and you and you miss where you need to go, you can get your money back.

00:03:13
Speaker 2: I like that, you do.

00:03:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so you know they can't just you know now they just give you a voucher. Yeah right, no, not anymore back.

00:03:20
Speaker 2: I like it.

00:03:21
Speaker 6: Oh be, there's a great update. We've all been in that situation where you've been canceled. It's absolute hell. At least you'll get a little cash back when you.

00:03:27
Speaker 5: Have to get through it. All right.

00:03:28
Speaker 4: So the game last night, Kentucky played Minnesota State man Cato one by thirty one, got to ninety eight, not quite one hundred.

00:03:38
Speaker 5: Uh, it was closed for a little while.

00:03:40
Speaker 4: But I liked them playing a game like that because, you know, I want to see how they would do when they didn't shoot well. And they started something like three for fourteen, so that was good to see. And then it can't you start making them. Mark Pope said after the game, We're gonna keep shooting, and the great thing about this team is.

00:03:58
Speaker 5: We're gonna keep shooting.

00:03:59
Speaker 4: And then they did Jackson Robinson hit eight threes, which I think that again gets lost in the shuffle.

00:04:06
Speaker 5: Does one man has eight threes?

00:04:07
Speaker 4: And I was reading all the game reports and it was like it didn't even get mentioned by some of them.

00:04:11
Speaker 5: And it's like he had eight threes. That's an amazing performance.

00:04:15
Speaker 4: Saw some really good stuff from our guards defensively, especially in the first half, kind of got people ignited. A Mario Williams did not play. The good news is it looks like according to the X ray, he's all right. And so that's good because I think everybody took a big, deep breath when they saw that. So I feel like another positive day right.

00:04:35
Speaker 2: Probably Mark Pope is a static how that played out, because they didn't shoot.

00:04:39
Speaker 5: The ball well. Come out.

00:04:40
Speaker 2: I think they hit like what three of their first thirteen or something. Then a Mario Wins went out hurt. He's like, okay, we got some adversity. We got to figure out how to win this game. We're not shooting well, we don't have a big guy. It was twenty two to twenty I think was the score, and they even had the ball, had a chance to go ahead. But after that, you're right, Jackson Robinson just he got it on fire. He started banging them down and then the momentum they went on eighteen and nothing run.

00:05:01
Speaker 4: And what's amazing about this team is that eighteen to nothing run was like three minutes like it like it's it is unbelievable how quickly they can turn a game that's not going well, how quickly they can turn it into something positive.

00:05:14
Speaker 6: Yeah, after like Ron said, it was twenty two to twenty the last six field goals before halftime or threes, I mean, they just absolutely turned it on. Robinson hit most of them, but that stretch, Trent Noah hit one. I think Lamar Faller hit one, and then next thing you know, you look up and it's a twenty something point game going into halftime.

00:05:29
Speaker 4: Well spratte Trenton Noah kind of took over for Perry in the rotation there.

00:05:33
Speaker 5: That may have been because Amari was out, but that was a.

00:05:36
Speaker 2: Little Trent Noah's threes one it kind of sparked everything. I think he hit the first one and then it kind of just kind of But you're right, he didn't play till late in the second half against Kentucky Wesleyan. He was in the rotation early in the first half last night.

00:05:50
Speaker 5: And then and then Perry was not in correct in the second half.

00:05:53
Speaker 6: They had a weird lineup in there with a Mario out. It was like Lamont Butler, Uh, Noah was the five, and then it Boy defensively. Vera was at the five. They were very small ball one up as they were trying to piece stuff together with that.

00:06:05
Speaker 4: We've seen watch that happened. Brandon Garrison, by the way, I thought played well. Garrison had twelve points, showed us some moves and that coast to coast He missed it, but that could have been one of those highlights. He looked he was all over the place, his arms and his legs were going in like five different directions, and then he still drove around people, spun euro stepped from half court.

00:06:28
Speaker 5: And then he missed the layup.

00:06:29
Speaker 6: Unfortunately, couldn't finish that one, but he still had to play the game. When he punched on that guy's head, he could have had two of the plays.

00:06:35
Speaker 4: Why let me if you're Minnesota state man Cato and you're like, this is just random, dude, that's why are you trying to stop that?

00:06:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, don't you just get out of the way.

00:06:44
Speaker 6: The theory he'll never be in ruppery again. He's like, I gotta have something to show my family that.

00:06:48
Speaker 5: You think he wanted to get dunked on.

00:06:50
Speaker 6: I mean, okay, he got dunked on by McDonald's all American in ruppery and then playing Kentucky. That, okay, he'll be working for State Farm one day and that will be on his desk showing his clients.

00:06:59
Speaker 4: You know this this hard, this Division two national champion. You think you're gonna work at State Farm?

00:07:04
Speaker 6: Did you see him try to block that? I know, I don't know if basketball is after. I mean, I'm glad he won his championship, but that I don't know if he had the work.

00:07:13
Speaker 5: And at State Farm. It's neat to hear.

00:07:16
Speaker 4: The coach of the other team talk about talk about Kentucky. He said, basically, you know, we've played Division one teams every year. We played three or four of them this year. And he said, no one has treated us better than here. That's cool, said, it's not just you get to play Kentucky. People treat you like you're a big, a big part of it. And then he said this team is really really good. He was like, I think he said, we played well and we lost by thirty one.

00:07:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, they did. They played pretty well, Kentucky. They're a great passing team. Now you know, once again, our assistant turnover ratio is just out out the roof, so I can see where other coaches look at them. They're like, man, this is a team that could really win a lot of games this year.

00:07:57
Speaker 4: So when it was a little shaky early on, my thought was, Okay, this is good because I want to see who steps up. And it felt like to me, Jackson Robinson was like, all right, I'm gonna get us back Drew in the game. I'm Jackson Robinson. I spelled my name with an X, which takes a specific type of confidence.

00:08:15
Speaker 6: Marks the spot it does give it to you.

00:08:17
Speaker 5: And he took it.

00:08:19
Speaker 4: And uh, I thought he was kind of the one who sort of put the margin for us to get back, to get our lead.

00:08:25
Speaker 6: Try not to overreact in all this fun, but I feel like that Jackson Robbins three pointer is gonna be there pretty regularly. He's just he's so calm too, Like it just looks so calm. He's like a solent assass. He doesn't even react when it goes in. I'm just gonna shoot this in your face. It's gonna go in. We're gonna run the other way.

00:08:41
Speaker 5: Boy.

00:08:41
Speaker 4: It's a good thing we got him, ye think, I mean, And I still don't think we've gotten the games.

00:08:46
Speaker 5: We think we'll get from Andrew Carget.

00:08:48
Speaker 2: No, not yet.

00:08:48
Speaker 6: He had a good second half, but uh, but I mean in the first half.

00:08:51
Speaker 4: The idea of what we want him to be, which is this big man who you know, sets pick and roll, can get threes all that. I just that hasn't happened yet, so I I still think that's out there to happen.

00:09:01
Speaker 2: You're right, that's a great weapon. We really haven't seen him yet. I was glad to see what Brandon Garrison can do. I mean, now we see why he was a McDonald's All American and the recruited so highly. Dude can play.

00:09:11
Speaker 4: I think for me, the biggest surprise in the early games has been Otaga away because I think he's much better maybe than I thought I had in my head.

00:09:19
Speaker 5: Me too, Do you agree with that? Yeah?

00:09:20
Speaker 2: I thought Bray would be the guy that might start the two Otaga he's the guy. He's the best at getting going downhill, getting to the basket. He's the best we've got on the team for that.

00:09:29
Speaker 6: And he's been the spark both games. He had like seven points and four rebounds in the first two minutes last week and then first four points last night. I mean He's immediate energy when he comes in.

00:09:39
Speaker 4: So do you do you do you feel like with him or with this team?

00:09:44
Speaker 5: After these two games? First game is right State Monday.

00:09:48
Speaker 4: Do you feel like the team is better, worse or the same from what you thought?

00:09:53
Speaker 2: To be honest to me, I think they're a little better because there's a couple guys that are better than I thought. Otega is one of them, Garrison's one of them. I'm an Or is one of them. These guys are better than I thought, And like they're a better defensive team that I think we thought going in.

00:10:06
Speaker 5: Yeah, I actually would say slightly better too.

00:10:08
Speaker 4: I mean I think they were twenty for me in the country, I'd now say fifteen to twelve.

00:10:15
Speaker 5: Why not?

00:10:16
Speaker 4: I mean, what, like, think about it? What what's wrong with this team? I mean, seriously, what's wrong with them? First of all, just compare them solely to our teams?

00:10:27
Speaker 5: All right?

00:10:28
Speaker 4: Is this team better than the team's the best COW teams?

00:10:33
Speaker 6: No?

00:10:34
Speaker 4: But do you not think this team could have given all of the Cow teams except twelve and fifteen.

00:10:39
Speaker 5: A good game? Oh?

00:10:41
Speaker 6: Yeah, they'd give them a game.

00:10:42
Speaker 4: They give them a game, and there's a hell of a lot of teams in the last four years they beat Yes, yeah, right, So I think this team is good.

00:10:52
Speaker 5: Am I wrong?

00:10:54
Speaker 6: H No, not at all. They're flawed at a few places, but that's kind of how he built his team.

00:10:59
Speaker 5: What do you think the flaws.

00:11:00
Speaker 6: I mean there's some guys like I don't think Kobe bri is athletic enough that well, he's athletic, but I mean I thought he'd be a little more athletic, but you have athleticism other places. I mean, he's a lights out shoo. That's how Pope kind of got a little bit of everything to put together and use him where he needs them. The big thing for me of why I think they'll be good is Lament Butler. I will overreact to him. He's the real deal. He's gonna that defense is gonna show up every night. I mean, his turnovers have been down. I know he's playing two D two teams now, but that guy is gonna be great this season.

00:11:29
Speaker 5: And I just have to tell you, I think it's fun watching a coach watching the smart system.

00:11:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think it's fun.

00:11:36
Speaker 4: I mean, you know, we'll see how fun it is if they're losing by to somebody by fifteen, but watching like adjustments, watching guys just never stop moving, and like, you know, we had a shot clock violation this year, I would per violation last night. I would say in the regular season, I'll put our shot clock violations at like under six. Of course I'm serious, because they just don't most of the time. He didn't even get to ten seconds. And the shots are good, Ryan, Let's go work for a good shot.

00:12:06
Speaker 2: He recruited guys to fit his system, and they know how to work it. We scored on an out of bounds play even last night.

00:12:12
Speaker 5: How about that. I don't say that could be true. I'm supposed to run those I no, that was legal.

00:12:16
Speaker 6: I thought we chieved last night.

00:12:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, you can't.

00:12:19
Speaker 2: Do that obviously, not in the Minnesota State skinning report. And think Ducky didn't run out of bound to play. We don't get ready for it.

00:12:24
Speaker 4: So you know, play right State. Let's just look at the first three games, play right State, play Buck. Now, do you have any worry that one of those games, you know that one of them could get us?

00:12:37
Speaker 2: Not what I've seen. I mean, I know they're just exhibition games. But what I've seen so far from this team, I have no worries any of those two games.

00:12:44
Speaker 6: No, not really. Right, State's got a lot of players back, and they led the nation and field goal percentage already. A little spying on them for Monday. But I just think with so much experience and so many pieces where even if a guy who's having a bad night, okay, you sit down and we have more more of you to check in, I think they're going to be fine. And all the early non conference games that aren't.

00:13:02
Speaker 5: Duke okay, So then let's go to Duke. Bring it you ready for him?

00:13:08
Speaker 6: I don't know how Cooper Flag, that's my big question.

00:13:11
Speaker 5: You want them to stand up and and and rise to the occasion, like.

00:13:15
Speaker 6: I'm money line betting regardless, I've been waiting on that that's happening. I feel I think the line will be Duke three and a half. Okay, Cooper Flag will be a problem.

00:13:25
Speaker 5: No, Listen, we have a hard time guarding those guys like they they have.

00:13:28
Speaker 4: They have the size and athleticism that they're gonna be able to They're gonna be able to get some easy buckets on us.

00:13:34
Speaker 5: But they ain't gonna shoot better than we are, are they? No?

00:13:36
Speaker 2: I would say not. I don't know when that team shoots get gets hot like they did last night. There aren't many teams that can beat that basketball team last night the way they shoot.

00:13:43
Speaker 4: The baskets of Minnesota State coach said, I love watching a team play smart, and he was like, this is one of the smartest teams we've played against.

00:13:52
Speaker 6: So those extra passes.

00:13:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean it is, will give.

00:13:55
Speaker 6: Up an open shot for a better open shot. You don't see that a lot in college.

00:13:59
Speaker 2: It is.

00:14:00
Speaker 4: He's a lot of fun to watch this team. I get the sense the fans are having fun.

00:14:06
Speaker 5: Now we do need to talk about that crowd, man odd good, because I do wonder about that. But we'll do that.

00:14:12
Speaker 4: But overall, very very positive start A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Let me know what you thought about the game last night and the team so far. We're gonna do and ask anything Wednesday in the next hour.

00:14:26
Speaker 5: But this is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.

00:14:34
Speaker 4: I'm just seeing here on the big screen they're saying that the Colts are benching Anthony Richardson.

00:14:38
Speaker 7: Ah.

00:14:39
Speaker 5: I think I called that one, and I think so did Drew. I never understood the when I I.

00:14:45
Speaker 4: Would go on to ESPN and summerfore that draft and be like, why is everybody wanted to draft Anthony.

00:14:48
Speaker 5: Richardson At the top? I was like, he wasn't good in college, he wasn't even close to good, and everyone Oh and then like, now that he's already benched, they're better well for Joe Flacco.

00:14:59
Speaker 6: Yeah, I's come on, I couldn't believe like you're saying they drafted him. I'm a cultater, so I make fun of them anyway, But when they were just considering him, I couldn't believe it. I was rooting for it. I mean, having watched what Kentucky did to him and what he didn't do at Florida at all his whole career, you thought he was gonna least.

00:15:15
Speaker 5: He was never good.

00:15:16
Speaker 6: He's a combine story. Yeah, probably did well in the bench press or whatever, ran fast, and then they thought he could lead the car.

00:15:22
Speaker 4: So as soon as you bitch a guy in the second year like that, it's not a good sound for him.

00:15:26
Speaker 6: Good for Flacco, though he wopd my Titans earlier. I wish that Richardson had played instead of Flacco.

00:15:31
Speaker 2: You know, I gave you that little nugget. This something you gave me a nugget. Yeah, I said when I came back from the Colts preseason game and said Flacco is a better quarterback.

00:15:38
Speaker 5: But that wasn't a nugget. That was just your opinion.

00:15:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was trying to prepare you for your well, but I mean that was that's not sources say that Flaco should be the starter quarterback.

00:15:47
Speaker 5: An what a source is in the in the in the grand scheme thing. What about the crowd last night?

00:15:53
Speaker 4: We knew, we knew, uh during the pregame that wasn't gonna be a great crowd. It was it was oh K at the bar, but it wasn't a normal crowd in terms of amount of people. So I kind of thought, I wondering about the game tonight, and it was I mean, that's a low crowd.

00:16:10
Speaker 5: Why why do you think I go.

00:16:12
Speaker 6: To every game? That's one of the worst crowds I can remember. I was pretty surprised. I was surprised by wesley and Wesleyan was better. I still thought that would be good though, and then this one was bad. You know, they have us media we're up there with the air ducts now and that end zone in the upper level was completely empty.

00:16:27
Speaker 4: But just a lot of people just didn't go, like their tickets were just empty. And I do want to say, if you have season tickets and you don't want to use them, give them to me and let me give them to people.

00:16:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean like when I give them to.

00:16:39
Speaker 4: People, like a lot of those people never get to go and they are so just the guy that came yesterday and picked him up, you saw how you was like if you're just not gonna use them at all, Like I understand if you sell them, that's fine, but if you're not gonna use them, don't just let them sit empty, like like I'll give him a way, but anyway, go ahead.

00:16:56
Speaker 2: It's amazing how we can this this restaurant kind of brought when we think the crowd's gonna be like either at Crogerfield or Roprina. And it was a little down yesterday. So do you think it's a little auburn hangover a little bit?

00:17:10
Speaker 4: I think it's just a bigger picture of you and UK needs to adjust to this reality. You have to do more to get people to get out of their house now they than you used to, the combination of more ways for people to have entertainment more. It's this is something everybody that puts on entertainment live knows. It is harder to get people to do things that they can do. Often they'll go spend ten million dollars to see Taylor Swift or whatever. Right, but there's a difference between I could go see one of the twenty five home games, eh, I don't know if I'm gonna go to this one, and you can't.

00:17:49
Speaker 5: That's why you got to make those events so good.

00:17:52
Speaker 4: But it is a little concerning because I kind of thought the beginning of the Pope era just the energy would just take over. And I think the Wesleyan game was actually, if you compare it to pass crowds good, but this one was not. And I kind of thought, first real home game next Monday, packed to the rafters, it's gonna be wild, and I sort of wonder Drew if that's gonna be the case.

00:18:15
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was concerning. I do have to shout out my rock Castle Middle School Rockets. They were sitting with me up there. They had practice last night, but the chorus took over the gym so they couldn't practice. So the coach said, let's go to Lexington and they just went to Reparena and UK moved them from the upper bowl to the lower bowl. But those were my seat mates at the top for a few minutes. It's pretty cool. I like, you couldn't practice because the choir took over the gym and they made the trip to like.

00:18:36
Speaker 5: Choir, the choir's always getting in the way of stuff.

00:18:39
Speaker 6: Outside of them. Not a lot of people and that.

00:18:40
Speaker 4: Do you think that's gonna change as the year goes on. I mean, I I am a little surprised. I kind of thought there'd be when you when you think about what the the initial thing was like.

00:18:52
Speaker 5: The press conference, I am a little surprised.

00:18:55
Speaker 2: I'm a little surprised because there was so much excitement you wanted to go to Pope's first game in the Western Exhibition game, and the crowd wasn't it wasn't full, but it was a good crowd. Then to have that drastick of a drop off last night, I think it'll pick back up. Monday's be the first real game.

00:19:10
Speaker 4: I just think I think UK has to just acknowledge that the days that you just opened the door and it's full. It's not gonna be like that anymore. Yeah, you've got to make the experience. It'll be full for all the big games. But if you want it to be full for Minnesota State, Man Cato and Wright State, if you're gonna insist on playing those games, which it looks like they will, then you've got to make it an experience or you're gonna get a situation like you had last night.

00:19:39
Speaker 6: And even though tickets reason to come by, it's still expensive. It's twenty seven dollars to park there. Now, the guy in front of me, it was him, twenty seven dollars. I won't buy that sign and roll my eyes. I don't pay that. I've parked on twenty seven dollars. A guy in front of me, him and his daughter at the concession stand, just listening. He paid forty four dollars for them to just gets things.

00:19:59
Speaker 4: That's but I don't know what UK can do about that because a lot of those are private lots.

00:20:05
Speaker 5: I will tell you where I live, there is not very.

00:20:10
Speaker 4: Far away free. There's like a street of free parking, and people start parking there at like two thirty. I met a guy one day who parked there, walked back to ks Bar at eight and then walked back to the game.

00:20:23
Speaker 5: Really because it's free out there.

00:20:25
Speaker 6: Years ago, I used to do that before pregame. Now I have a spot with the radio station, but I used to set a car down there early in the day.

00:20:31
Speaker 4: But that is, like, I don't know, man, they gotta you gotta figure it out because the Right State and Buck now so right State is the first game and the Bucknail's.

00:20:41
Speaker 2: On a Saturday Saturday afternoon.

00:20:42
Speaker 4: So like that is you know, those are times that you would think, Okay, this will be good.

00:20:49
Speaker 5: I mean they've they've basically quit playing the Sunday games.

00:20:52
Speaker 4: Remember they always used to play on Sundays and they got bad crowds, and I think they realize, all right, maybe we don't play on Sunday nights anymore, and.

00:20:59
Speaker 2: They moved away. It was Friday Sunday.

00:21:01
Speaker 4: Well, so we have some A couple of Friday Friday games before a Saturday home game is.

00:21:07
Speaker 5: Not a bad idea.

00:21:08
Speaker 6: I hated Sundays. Most people mean, you're going against the NFL too. Yeah, a lot of people that's a couch day.

00:21:13
Speaker 5: Who's up first, ship, Let's go to Thomas, Thomas, go ahead, Thomas.

00:21:19
Speaker 8: Yeah.

00:21:19
Speaker 9: Last night during the game, it's just so refreshing to see this team get out on the court. Basketball seasons fining here when I believe it was when they went on that run at the end towards the end of the first half. Jack on the radio broadcast said, man, this is just such a fun style of basketball to watch and see on the court. And another quick comment. In the year's past where it just becomes so hard to rely on somebody to come in off the bench that could get you a shot, I feel like there's so many guys on the bench this year that can just come in and knock down a shot.

00:21:50
Speaker 5: That's sure, which makes about that.

00:21:52
Speaker 4: I think you're exactly right. I mean, first of all, I do think this is crazy fun to watch, you know. The only hesitation I appreciate the call. The only hesitation I have is a Okay, what happens if we miss a lot? But I do think they're fun to watch, and I also love the fact that there's twelve guys that can play. You know. Uh, Mario and I have a joke because he doesn't think Almonor is good, and I think he's really good.

00:22:16
Speaker 6: But Mario doesn't.

00:22:18
Speaker 5: No, I'm kidding, I would. I was very I was skeptical about Almonor, and so now when he plays well, Mario texts me every time he scores.

00:22:27
Speaker 4: But there's a guy that might be your eleventh man and that you could go to. In the first game he made four threes. Yeah, so like that is a really refreshing thing to have.

00:22:36
Speaker 2: Jack made a comment last night near the broadcast, I gotta stop thinking, what's a good shot in a bad shot? Because these guys are shooting threes three or four feet behind the arc and hitting them. So he's like, I gotta get out of my mind. That's a good shot for this team.

00:22:47
Speaker 4: Good shots for this team is just if you're open. If you're open, if you're open, fired, because why not? The only three, the only three I don't want to see is Brandon Garrison doesn't.

00:22:58
Speaker 6: Need to be shooting oh for three?

00:22:59
Speaker 5: Sorry, anyone else, Let's have at it. We'll take a break. Very back.

00:23:05
Speaker 3: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make them pay now. More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:14
Speaker 4: Welcome back, Tell You Sports Radio all right, I'm gonna reach you, the whiskey thief. We need the election to be over tweeted the day. All right, whiskey thief, you could get your bourbon et cetera. By the way, thank you oilman Woodie who brought us cookies from European Delights. Is that the name of the place, Yes, says it's out Brandon Crossing. Shout out to European Delights. I like europe and I like delights, and you combine those into good cookies and I'm for it, really good. This is the the election needs to be over tweeted to day, Matt. I think crowds are down at the UK Games due to overall costs of everything. I'm a registered Democrat, but a Trump fan. I think if Trump wins later in the season, people people will feel more comfortable coming to the game and because of their finance.

00:24:00
Speaker 5: You need the election to be over, my man. All right, I just do you need the election to be over?

00:24:05
Speaker 4: Like if we're if we're now excusing the Kentucky Minnesota state thing, and you think the change is going to happen by January, you know what, Just turn the computer off, turn the television off, talk to your family and just be.

00:24:20
Speaker 6: Ready for the election.

00:24:21
Speaker 2: I do have a question for you, please you.

00:24:23
Speaker 5: I like your question. You know you are the average man in many ways.

00:24:27
Speaker 2: I'm so so thankful you included me in that Twitter feed about politics.

00:24:34
Speaker 5: When does it end?

00:24:35
Speaker 4: I mean it doesn't end, he has going It doesn't end because here's the problem. It got so much engagement that Elon's new thing has promoted it to where now people like, it's not just people who follow me, you know how you have the following and the for you page.

00:24:52
Speaker 5: Yes I hate the for you pay me too.

00:24:54
Speaker 4: But now my tweet has shown up on the for you page, which means lots of people are seeing tell Roy lemoned who you want to vote for? So you're getting complete strangers now.

00:25:04
Speaker 2: I can't even get on Twitter day. Look what they're saying about the game last night, because it was all.

00:25:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, Trump, this hair's that right?

00:25:11
Speaker 10: Right?

00:25:12
Speaker 6: Right right?

00:25:15
Speaker 5: Maybe you're on a different.

00:25:16
Speaker 4: Feet, yeah no, no, for you don't look yeah.

00:25:20
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:25:21
Speaker 4: Some people write me and go, why is there all this porn on my feet? And I'm like, there's not porn on my feed, man, I don't know where you're.

00:25:27
Speaker 6: Elon wants me to watch a lot of fistfights and like that's because I can't look away. This morning, I wake up with my cup of coffee. I just watched three people browing outside of gas station because I forgot to flip over to the following.

00:25:37
Speaker 4: And I'll tell you what's scary is the way TikTok seems to read my mind.

00:25:42
Speaker 5: I the TikTok.

00:25:43
Speaker 4: I will literally have a conversation with my friend and be like, you know what I'm thinking about eating typhood tonight, and then get on TikTok ty food tips for you and it's like, wait a minute, I didn't you. I didn't type in the word you've been listening, Hey, listen they TikTok. It might be implanted in my brain because even what I I'm thinking about shows up on the video.

00:26:09
Speaker 6: I don't think that's just TikTok. There's been times where I'm about to search something and it always predictexts you know what's most popular, But it'll be something obscure that I've not said out loud. It's like, do you want to search for this? And it's like, how do you know that?

00:26:20
Speaker 4: And then once you get in a little thing, you can't get out so right now. If I hear one more person say hey it's Domingo. If I see that one more time shading from Saturday Night Live, but the bachelorette party thing, the song, you know what I'm talking about, then you're not on my TikTok.

00:26:39
Speaker 6: Do you know what what I'm talking I'm just watching people.

00:26:41
Speaker 5: Do you all not have the guy singing? His name is Domingo.

00:26:44
Speaker 6: That's your algorithm, we all.

00:26:48
Speaker 4: I don't need to hear anymore about Domingo, and I even like that guy, and I don't.

00:26:53
Speaker 5: Want to hear it anymore. All Right, it seems like none of you know what I'm talking about. Who's up next? Thomas, Thomas? Go ahead, Thomas.

00:27:02
Speaker 8: Great game last night, super exciting. I can't believe it wasn't as proud of because it's fun to watch.

00:27:07
Speaker 5: It is fun to watch.

00:27:08
Speaker 8: Sur I surprised he Trevor Noah did a lot more playing time last night.

00:27:12
Speaker 5: I did, and he played well.

00:27:14
Speaker 4: I thought, you know, a lot of people myself included, maybe thought his weakness would be defense.

00:27:18
Speaker 5: He held his own out there defensively.

00:27:20
Speaker 2: He did. I think he earned the minutes in the Kentucky WESTLN game. He earned those minutes last night. That's why they kept him out there.

00:27:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I liked it.

00:27:27
Speaker 4: Excuse me, sir, I think I think that was Kerr came and took Perry's minutes. But Noah, I think stepped up because Amari was out and used his minutes.

00:27:38
Speaker 8: And Colin Chandler still looks rusty, but he had a thunderous dump right there at the end.

00:27:42
Speaker 7: That dude can jump.

00:27:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, Colin Chandler is one of these guys. I appreciate the call.

00:27:46
Speaker 4: We're gonna have a game where he goes oh for seven and then he'll come up and score fourteen in the next one.

00:27:50
Speaker 5: I think that's gonna be just what his season is like.

00:27:53
Speaker 6: Yeah, he had some flashy passes last night. He did his best that we've seen of him. Was really in the Blue White game when he was shooting it well and had a ste donk on Garrison's head. But he's another guy you just have confidence in him and he's just gonna get better as time goes on. After having a couple of years off from basketball.

00:28:08
Speaker 5: How did your post game? It was a lot of fun, it really will.

00:28:12
Speaker 4: I don't ever listen unless I'm on it because I don't want it, but I did want to listen to your monologue because I was like, I'm cheering you on, and I thought, first of all, I thought you did a very good job on that. I also hope you take a second to realize how much better you've gotten on the Like I don't know if you could have done that five years ago, like a monologue like that, you could have hosted the show, but like a just a straight monologue, and you did a really good job. You engaged Billy at the right time, so I thought it was very good with helping me through it with breaks and things. I kind of had a lot of I was a little scattered.

00:28:46
Speaker 6: Of my monologue because I didn't really go in with a plan, so it was like a just my brain was full of random things.

00:28:51
Speaker 4: So I'm almost like, you're not making an argument in court at the callers made it the best part though, I mean, I enjoyed the all along and talking to Billy.

00:29:01
Speaker 6: We had two people named Kyle Macy.

00:29:03
Speaker 5: That at the same time.

00:29:05
Speaker 6: Yeah, back to back. We had a guy named after Kyle Macon, then a guy named after Kyle Macy, so we had call Macy one and call Macy towo that just a lot of fun.

00:29:12
Speaker 5: I thought you did a good job, so so I thought I was good too.

00:29:15
Speaker 2: A lot of the callers said, I want to be a part of your first post game show.

00:29:18
Speaker 6: We made a lot of memories.

00:29:20
Speaker 5: We did, did he made a lot of memory.

00:29:22
Speaker 6: Never forget your first I remember everyone that called in, Yeah doing good, cat Daddy, all the call Macy's.

00:29:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, we're good. I'm glad. Who's up?

00:29:29
Speaker 3: Neck grass?

00:29:31
Speaker 5: Blue grass? How are you? Eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven?

00:29:35
Speaker 10: You sort of sort of stole a little bit of my thunder. I was gonna call it first of all, and give the flowers to Drew, like the rapid reaction like that's grade A material with mullet guy, and the post game like big up till you Drew, Thank.

00:29:49
Speaker 5: You very much.

00:29:49
Speaker 6: It was a long day, but a fun day.

00:29:51
Speaker 10: And well, I'm a little bit conflicted because I did watch Arkansas and I did watch Duke, and I see the athleticism and you know where I'm going with this, But like this style is you know, I love the style, but are we going to be able to defend outside of them?

00:30:07
Speaker 5: Well, I you know, I think well, let's let's say like this.

00:30:12
Speaker 4: Okay, So let me ask you if before the Kentucky Oakland game I said to you, is Oakland gonna be able.

00:30:18
Speaker 5: To defend us? What would your answer have been? Yeah?

00:30:23
Speaker 4: No way, But they still want right like they still they still want.

00:30:27
Speaker 5: So I I I don't.

00:30:29
Speaker 4: Think if Arkansas were to get the just to use Arkansas example, if they were to get the game in US where we are going one on one with them.

00:30:38
Speaker 5: Athlete athlete, they will beat us.

00:30:40
Speaker 4: But if we get the game where we're playing our style, getting up and down the court, getting shots off, pressing them to where I don't mean press, like full court press, but pressing them to where they get flustered, and then they get think about all the problems we would have down late in the shot clock getting a shawl. Yeah, then of course we can beat them. So you know, player by play, our duke, you know it's duke better than us. Sure, Arkansas probably, but as a team, I don't see why we can't beat them or be better.

00:31:11
Speaker 10: Well, the host style is like if you would have put blue uniforms on Arkansas, it looked like US the last fifteen years, and if you.

00:31:19
Speaker 4: Put out and if you put our uniforms on some of the teams that have given us hell over the last few years, it would have.

00:31:26
Speaker 5: Looked like our team this year. You know absolutely than I appreciate the call. Do you agree with that?

00:31:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're we're now seeing modern basketball. The way basketball is playing now. We haven't seen it here. We're getting to. Can't see it.

00:31:38
Speaker 4: Just wait for a year or two when we're playing this style with great athletes and great players, because that's coming. If you look at the recruiting, we don't necessarily have it this year. Like I said, I'm not sure we have a pro on the team. Jackson might maybe a second round pick, maybe Garrison one day develops into it, maybe Chandler develops one. But I'm not sure we have a professional basketball player. But that doesn't mean you can't be a great college basketball team.

00:32:06
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, have you watched the NCAA tournament the last few years. There's been a lot of guys that aren't going on in the NBA that been winning games. And Robinson with his NBA outlook, he came back to school because they told him to work on a three point shot. No, it's only been two what they said to him, I'd say, so far, he's got some pretty good tape to take back to them in this season.

00:32:23
Speaker 5: I would have thought, man, that's one of his strengths.

00:32:26
Speaker 2: You know, it seems like, really, well, I got two games and judge him, but I still feel like there's we haven't even seen near the best of him.

00:32:33
Speaker 4: That guy, I think is we still haven't seen him like going to the basket, all the things he used to be really good at. Yeah, we haven't even really seen him do that stuff yet.

00:32:41
Speaker 2: So I mean that's what makes me excited about him. I think, you know, we haven't seen his best game yet. We just see him shoot the lights out so far.

00:32:46
Speaker 4: Court physical therapy. You know, we just got two months left for you to use your yearly benefits. If you have already spent your deductible, then why not get health insurance.

00:32:56
Speaker 5: Why not get.

00:32:56
Speaker 4: Physical therapy now to get rid of your aches and pains and it won't cost you any that's right. Go to court dot com. It's KRT dot com. Before the holidays, get yourself worked out. Yeah, make sure you're you're you're feeling fine. Go to court dot com. That's KRT dot com. We got Mailman Woody in the house. We got European delights. In the house, we got Mario. We're gonna have wings here in fifteen minutes. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:33:22
Speaker 5: Working back. It is Tucky Sports Radio AFI nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text Machine seven seven two seven four five two five four one person rights.

00:33:32
Speaker 4: Matt, you have always said that you have to have a pro to win the title. If we don't have a pro, how are we gonna.

00:33:39
Speaker 5: Win the title?

00:33:39
Speaker 4: Well, we made we probably won't this year. Let's me real, like, first of all, we've only won eight titles ever. But no, I you know, I think it's gonna be hard to win the title because I don't I do think you have to have a pro. I can't remember the last team that didn't have a pro, but there have been a lot of teams make the championship game and not have a pro, and quite a few Lamon Butler two years ago made the Championship Game did not have a pro. So we can still be really really good. Uh, And you know, maybe one of these guys develops into a pro by helping us to a championship run and becomes a pro because of that. So you know, I think that first Yukon team, I'm not sure anyone on that team early in the year people would have thought was a pro, but people became pros from it. Last year's team they thought had pros, but.

00:34:28
Speaker 6: They were actually picked towards the bottom of their conference the year they won that first time.

00:34:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think that year people thought. Now they ended up. I think guys make a pro run so so yeah, but we can still be very good without that.

00:34:42
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:34:42
Speaker 2: I haven't heard anybody predict a championship for this team. We can predict a lot of wins and a good season.

00:34:48
Speaker 4: Yes, uh, we're gonna do ask anything Wednesday in the second hour. But here's a good question. I have a question for you all, and I think you four will know the best answer. Who is the most fai miss person in America during a time period that might be unknown or you never hear from now. The example I would use is Monica Lewinsky. Monica Lewinsky, there was a time that every single person in America knew who they were, who she was, but now you never hear her name.

00:35:20
Speaker 5: That's a good question.

00:35:22
Speaker 4: So who's somebody who's the most the person that would have gotten the most attention for a period of time that you have no idea what they're doing now. Monica Winsky is a great example, like everybody knows Monica Lewinsky or did, but like, when's the.

00:35:38
Speaker 5: Last time you've seen her? I got I got a couple, I got a couple. Lorraina Bobbitt, Yeah, that's a really good one.

00:35:52
Speaker 3: We need to track her down. Can't be running loose out there?

00:35:56
Speaker 5: Can Can you think of any on the sports side?

00:35:59
Speaker 3: Okay about Steve Bartman? Steve got a ton of attention during that.

00:36:05
Speaker 4: Everybody would know who's Steve Bartman from that, Like you heard his name and you talk about a guy who became an absolute recluse.

00:36:12
Speaker 2: The first one popped in my head. People think she lives in Winchester's Tanya Harding.

00:36:17
Speaker 4: Donya Harding is a really good one, Like when's the everybody in the world knew who Tanya?

00:36:23
Speaker 5: Nancy car Yeah, Nancy care the last time you heard Nancy Carris? Jeff, I don't know. Now you're going into like the B and C level players on that story.

00:36:34
Speaker 6: You kind of have to be notorious for doing something bad because no one's gonna keep so it's like in that moment.

00:36:39
Speaker 4: You're Nancy Kerrigan would be an exactly the victim of the person with a victim that everybody.

00:36:44
Speaker 2: Knew, Joey Buttafuco.

00:36:47
Speaker 5: Joey is a really good one. Basically, those are all like nineties tabloids who shot him?

00:36:54
Speaker 2: What was that girl's name?

00:36:56
Speaker 5: Who shot Joey? But if you go married Joe Patrina Patria, I think that.

00:37:01
Speaker 10: Was her.

00:37:03
Speaker 5: Drawn it's something like Mary Joe Pirino though, isn't it like Fisher Amy Fisher?

00:37:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, but there was another woman, now Amy Fisher was Joey Buttafuca. Yeah, it was like Mary Joe Paterno. I keep wanting to say Perino, don't you put Mary Joe. I'm not wrong that you know, I'm or no is that there was maybe a teacher that liked to marry Joe laterno Literno. She had like a fifteen year old boyfriend. Yes, and then they tried to kill her husband, right.

00:37:35
Speaker 2: Well they got caught in the car together. Yeah, but I think they tried to kill her husband a baby Mary Joe Laturno.

00:37:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, so this is there was It was not Parino.

00:37:46
Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure it.

00:37:46
Speaker 5: Was Mary Joe Brino.

00:37:48
Speaker 4: That's who Ryan worked all right, if you have an answer there seven seven two I've worked with her too, seven seven seven seventy four five two five four.

00:37:55
Speaker 5: Who's next?

00:37:56
Speaker 3: We got Myron in Minnesota.

00:37:58
Speaker 5: I'll look who this smiring Metcalf.

00:38:04
Speaker 7: How y'all doing what happened? I'm doing well. I'm doing well man. Yeah, after a rough loss for our Minnesota state man Cato team. But you know, our heads were holding them high. You know what I mean. There are probably eight files that weren't called that should have been.

00:38:21
Speaker 10: There.

00:38:22
Speaker 7: I'm not here to make excuse.

00:38:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, but you know, so first of all, we did have a lot of people come up and ask us if you were gonna be Oh, yes.

00:38:32
Speaker 5: Did you feel guilty senior Kentucky fans?

00:38:38
Speaker 10: Uh?

00:38:38
Speaker 7: A little bit. I mean probably because you told everybody I was abandoning them and I was gonna come. That probably didn't help, But yeah, I wanted to be there. I couldn't couldn't make it happen, but I was there in spirit and I was glad. I guys, I hope you had a good time and playing in the historic arena. Uh didn't get to win, but you know what I mean, we did our best, and that's all that matters in life.

00:39:00
Speaker 4: So you're in addition to being co host of Me, you're a that you're ESPN's national college basketball reporter.

00:39:05
Speaker 5: So where do you see this Kentucky team this year?

Speaker 7: I mean, I think the potential is there, right, I think I heard you talking about not having a pro I mean I think from like mid February to like early April, a bunch of guys who aren't pros become pros.

00:39:22
Speaker 10: Right.

00:39:23
Speaker 7: So I think Jackson Robinson, you know what of the NBA teams tell him when he entered the draft. He's got to be able to hit threees he did last night. If he becomes a consistent shooter, he's certainly a pro. But I just think this is a team where they have a system that you know, it's gonna be hard to stop because they got so many shooters and they attack you from everywhere. Can they defend at a high level? I think that'll be the biggest question mark about their potential. But there's a lot there to like.

00:39:49
Speaker 5: There is a lot there to like.

00:39:51
Speaker 4: Now, are you excited that ESPN finally decided we could have a podcast that people could subscribe to?

00:39:57
Speaker 7: Yeah. I don't know if how the word of my tweet is he finally thought we were good enough to have a podcast. I don't know if that was the proper approach this, but but it has been cool to see a lot of the buzz. Like, I don't know anything about podcasts, so I mean, it's kind of crazy to see a number like that fourth or fifth or whatever we were. That's like, it doesn't feel real, you know what I mean.

00:40:19
Speaker 5: So well, let me ask you.

00:40:20
Speaker 4: I think Ryan I make him nervous, and Ryan is the person closest to you in terms of having to deal with this. Myron gets nervous because he always thinks I kind of pushed the envelope with the ESPN and he's always worried I'm gonna get us fired.

00:40:34
Speaker 5: Yes, Ryan, you're kind of like that with KSR. So maybe you can commiserate with him.

00:40:39
Speaker 2: I'm telling you what you're talking about, Like he our iHeart bosses. I guess some of your ESPN bosses. You know, he's not afraid to like, you know, not just getting that gray area cross into the black area. He shouldn't be.

00:40:50
Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah, MAT's like you see that cliff over there, let's keep walking.

00:40:56
Speaker 2: Let's just the way up.

00:41:00
Speaker 7: Like well, like, listen, week it's gonna be okay, it's not even that far of a fall. Like That's how I'm not apposed to life, right, So for me, I think it's a little bit. It's a lot different, right because I think Matt is like you know, ESPN whatever. For me, I need heats in Minnesota. Uh So that's what I'm always actually worried about, more than anything you.

00:41:20
Speaker 4: Always say on the air, Myron, don't get me fine, that's what you're always worried about.

00:41:25
Speaker 7: Yeah, because you know, utilities matter up here.

00:41:27
Speaker 5: Man.

00:41:28
Speaker 7: You know it's about to be about twenty two degrees, you know, so I got to keep the lights on.

00:41:34
Speaker 4: Well, hopefully you will get to Lexington for a game this year? Will you promise the folks that you'll make a trip at some point?

00:41:41
Speaker 7: Well, I'm going to Atlanta for the first jew the Champius classes, but yeah, definitely, I'll probably oh yeah, I'll be a Lexon all right.

00:41:47
Speaker 4: Well, ADMN and I both will be in Chicago, not this weekend but next weekend for the Bears game. The Bears game, So if you're in Chicago, you ought to come find this that Sunday for the Bears game they play.

00:42:00
Speaker 5: I don't know either. Yeah, yep, that's right. Hey Mayren, good to see you and congrats on your team getting to play.

00:42:07
Speaker 7: All right, Josh, thanks, there you go.

00:42:08
Speaker 5: How about that surprise. I didn't even know he was going to do that.

00:42:11
Speaker 2: He went all summer as Black Jones. He was in your your substitute for you.

00:42:16
Speaker 4: I'll tell you somebody that I haven't seen a long time. I like this, Pat O'Brien.

00:42:21
Speaker 5: Did he die? I don't think so.

00:42:24
Speaker 2: Okay, why do you think he did die?

00:42:26
Speaker 5: Maybe I don't think he died. Did he die?

00:42:29
Speaker 6: I'll look all right, we'll update after the break.

00:42:31
Speaker 5: Let'sp
