<v Speaker 1>ago at the foot of Mount Saint Helen's. The sighting
<v Speaker 1>was close to a place called Ape Canyon, which has
<v Speaker 1>had a large amount of sasquatch activity throughout the years.
<v Speaker 1>I find Kevin to be a credible witness. He has
<v Speaker 1>done work for the Discovery Channel, Warner Bros. And Universal Studios.

<v Speaker 1>being said, let's dive into this next bigfoot siding from
<v Speaker 1>the base of Mount Saint Helens. Hey, Kevin, welcome to
<v Speaker 1>Sasquatch Theory. I appreciate you being on the show.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you, it's my pleasure.
<v Speaker 1>Would you tell me a little bit about yourself and
<v Speaker 1>your bigfoot encounter that took place near Ape Canyon in
<v Speaker 1>the Mount Saint Helen's region.
<v Speaker 2>Well, now I'm retired, but I had one big foot
<v Speaker 2>encounter on August seventh, nineteen ninety four on the Lewis
<v Speaker 2>River in Washington, just a couple miles south of Infamous
<v Speaker 2>Ape Canyon at the foot of Mount Saint Helens. Now
<v Speaker 2>me Eventually, back in two thousand, I started working for
<v Speaker 2>Warner Brothers. And but I'll get to that in a minute.
<v Speaker 2>At the time I was working for Samsung, I was
<v Speaker 2>living in downtown Portland in Delta Park. And I went
<v Speaker 2>on August seventh to visit my buddy who was having
<v Speaker 2>his thirtieth birthday party. And he lived there on the
<v Speaker 2>Lewis River on the base of Mount Saint Helens. And
<v Speaker 2>there was maybe about one hundred people there. And at
<v Speaker 2>the end of the evening when we winded down, we
<v Speaker 2>all camped out on the Lewis River because his house
<v Speaker 2>wasn't large enough to you know, for everybody to stay in.
<v Speaker 2>So I was camping out on the Lewis River there
<v Speaker 2>at a beautiful campsite and got up just as the
<v Speaker 2>sun came up to go to the bathroom. And when
<v Speaker 2>I unzipped my tent and walked out, I looked down
<v Speaker 2>at the river and there was bigfoot lying face down.
<v Speaker 2>He was a brown bigfoot. He was face down. He's
<v Speaker 2>probably nine feet tall, drinking out of the river. And
<v Speaker 2>I walked down to the river and was standing probably
<v Speaker 2>about twenty feet away from him when he looked up
<v Speaker 2>saw me, and he had this expression on his face
<v Speaker 2>that I see sometimes with celebrities when I worked for
<v Speaker 2>Warner Brothers, where they're like, oh no, now, I got
<v Speaker 2>to give this guy an autograph or something. But I
<v Speaker 2>could actually see his facial expression and he was definitely
<v Speaker 2>a male. And he looked at me and wiped his
<v Speaker 2>mouth of the water and walked into the forest and disappeared.
<v Speaker 2>So I ran the fifty yards or so to my
<v Speaker 2>friend's house, the man who has celebrated his birthday the
<v Speaker 2>day before, and woke him up and I said, hey, hey,
<v Speaker 2>I just saw a bigfoot. I just saw a bigfoot.
<v Speaker 2>And he looked up at me and he said, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they come down and drink out of the river this
<v Speaker 2>time of year because the rivers and streams up higher
<v Speaker 2>in the mountain dry out in August. He just looked
<v Speaker 2>at me, matter of factly and said, yeah, yeah, this
<v Speaker 2>is the time of year they come down here. And
<v Speaker 2>that's my bigfoot story. Now, Like I said, it looked
<v Speaker 2>like bigfoot, and I Miguel, I did send you a
<v Speaker 2>picture that I found on the Internet that looked like him.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Later on the when I was at Warner Brothers. I
<v Speaker 2>was on the set of a movie called The Mummy,
<v Speaker 2>which was a Universal production, and there were guys dressed
<v Speaker 2>up as half dog, half man, and you know, they're
<v Speaker 2>wearing twenty thousand dollars costumes, and they you walked up
<v Speaker 2>and it really looked like half man, half dog. The
<v Speaker 2>actor was in a costume, but so I possibly somebody
<v Speaker 2>was dressed up in a twenty thousand dollars Bigfoot costume.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, but it should have looked like Bigfoot
<v Speaker 2>to me. And that's the one and only time I
<v Speaker 2>ever saw him. I did camp on that river many
<v Speaker 2>times before and after, but that was the one time
<v Speaker 2>I saw him. Any questions you got, Miguel.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, can you describe the facial features that you saw
<v Speaker 1>in the Sasquatch?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? Did you get so funny? You know the movie
<v Speaker 2>Harry and the Hendersons, You remember, it was just like that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the photo that you sent over looked like Harry
<v Speaker 1>and the Henderson's or the Bigfoot off the Jack Lynx commercial.
<v Speaker 1>I have also heard reports where they look like Chewbacca
<v Speaker 1>off of Star Wars.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and he was a brown bigfoot. I've seen another thing.
<v Speaker 2>People saw a black bigfoot or a white one in
<v Speaker 2>the Himalayans, but this guy was a brown one. And
<v Speaker 2>like I said, he was definitely a male. Anyway, that
<v Speaker 2>was my bigfoot encounter. And also I've also done work
<v Speaker 2>at the Discovery Channel filming sharks, so I've had experience
<v Speaker 2>with animals that could be dangerous. I've seen in the
<v Speaker 2>past how some people had traumatic, you know, experiences after
<v Speaker 2>they saw bigfoot. I did not. I was like, all right,
<v Speaker 2>well that's a very rare and endangered animal that I
<v Speaker 2>got to see. And it was in ninety four, so
<v Speaker 2>it was before cell phone, so I didn't have a
<v Speaker 2>cell phone to take his picture and that. Yeah, and
<v Speaker 2>my buddy who had his thirtieth birthday, Oh yeah, he
<v Speaker 2>grew up in the area and they're like, yeah, we
<v Speaker 2>see him all the time, my buddy, you had his birthday.
<v Speaker 2>He actually did work for the Audubon Society, so he
<v Speaker 2>was very strict about how he didn't want to take
<v Speaker 2>its picture. You don't just want people to know about it.
<v Speaker 2>He's very into lead letting, nature be on its own
<v Speaker 2>and stuff. He's a very very good man.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you mentioned the siding was near Ape Canyon.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's just a couple miles south of Ape Canyon
<v Speaker 2>at the foot of Mount Saint Helens.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that is very interesting. I hear a lot of
<v Speaker 1>reports from that area too. So do you think it's
<v Speaker 1>typical for a sasquatch to drink water face down like that?
<v Speaker 1>Or do you think he was cleaning himself up. Well,
<v Speaker 1>that's a good point looking for fish.
<v Speaker 2>Because I've back in those days, I enjoyed camping a lot.
<v Speaker 2>And some of us humans like to drink that way,
<v Speaker 2>some of us humans like to drink in a different way.
<v Speaker 2>So it's just specific on him. He's the only one
<v Speaker 2>I've ever seen, So maybe that's just the way he
<v Speaker 2>likes to drink, and his other in his bigfoot buddies
<v Speaker 2>drink a different way. Who knows.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, when he walked off back into the forest, did
<v Speaker 1>he look over at you guys or did he just
<v Speaker 1>look straight into the forest and just kind of disappear.
<v Speaker 2>No, he looked at me. He gave me that look.
<v Speaker 2>And for example, one one day, I was in a
<v Speaker 2>grocery store with Faye dune away and someone recognized her
<v Speaker 2>and came up to her with a you know, a
<v Speaker 2>paper and pen. Oh, and you know, and same kind
<v Speaker 2>of look like, oh god, I got to give this
<v Speaker 2>person my autograph now, you know, it's the same kind
<v Speaker 2>of facial expression. Was like h oh, no, you know,
<v Speaker 2>like like kind of annoyed with me. Then he just
<v Speaker 2>turned around and walked. No, he didn't look back. He
<v Speaker 2>looked at me annoyed, and then turned around and walked
<v Speaker 2>into the forest, kind of almost disappeared right right into
<v Speaker 2>the forest. It was like wow. And then, like I said,
<v Speaker 2>I ran to my buddy's house woke him up. It
<v Speaker 2>was probably five six in the morning, and he was
<v Speaker 2>annoyed with me too. Oh, they come down here this
<v Speaker 2>time of year. Let me go back to sleep.
<v Speaker 1>How many sightings has your friend had?
<v Speaker 2>He He says that in August when they come down
<v Speaker 2>to drink near his house, he usually sees three or
<v Speaker 2>four a year. Every August, he says, you'll see like
<v Speaker 2>three or four, he'll have three or four sightings.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, that's a.
<v Speaker 2>He's a very dedicated conservationalist, worked for the Audubon Society.
<v Speaker 2>He he you know, they have flying squirrels in that area,
<v Speaker 2>which are very endangered that he showed me before.
<v Speaker 1>So is the river spring fed or is it?
<v Speaker 2>No? No, it melts right out of the glacier that
<v Speaker 2>is on the top of Mount Saint Helen's. And that's
<v Speaker 2>the thing, is that glacier in If you go and
<v Speaker 2>look at Mount Saint Helens in August, the you see
<v Speaker 2>little patches of snow on the top. But but if
<v Speaker 2>you go any other time of the year, you'll see
<v Speaker 2>the full glacier. It'll be fully glaciated with ice and snow.
<v Speaker 2>And so that's according to my friend, why the bigfoots
<v Speaker 2>come down lower to the mountain because they have to
<v Speaker 2>because they run out of water.
<v Speaker 1>So do you remember the exact day and what the
<v Speaker 1>weather was like when you had your sighting.
<v Speaker 2>It was between five and six am, August seventh, nineteen
<v Speaker 2>ninety four, East Pacific time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And do you remember the day. Was it pretty
<v Speaker 1>nice out or was it cloudy?
<v Speaker 2>Bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky and the
<v Speaker 2>sun had just come up over the eastern hills.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so it wasn't super windy out or anything. It
<v Speaker 1>was nice.
<v Speaker 2>It was beautiful. There's a day of the day before too,
<v Speaker 2>And like I said, so I had just the sun
<v Speaker 2>had just up, so and I had to go to
<v Speaker 2>the bathroom. So I unzipped the tent and was trying
<v Speaker 2>to find a tree when all of a sudden I
<v Speaker 2>saw him.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah that's pretty close to see a nine foot creature. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you said, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. I walked down there and I was twenty feet
<v Speaker 2>away and I stopped and he was still laying face
<v Speaker 2>down drinking. He looked up at me, stood up, wiped
<v Speaker 2>his mouth, gave me an annoyed look like, oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>it's a guy's gonna want my autograph, and then walked
<v Speaker 2>into the forest.
<v Speaker 1>Do you remember your exact thoughts when you first laid
<v Speaker 1>eyes on this creature.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's like it's Bigfoot. It's real, because you know,
<v Speaker 2>the night before we were celebrating his birthday, and of
<v Speaker 2>course we're at it all sitting around the campfire, about
<v Speaker 2>twenty of us with the birthday cake and keke of
<v Speaker 2>beer and et cetera, and Bigfoot came up. So you
<v Speaker 2>know that's a topic in that neighborhood.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, And that's just like sure enough, there he was.
<v Speaker 1>Can you tell me a little bit about your work
<v Speaker 1>with Discovery Channel and the Sharks. How close have you
<v Speaker 1>been to a shark and what kind of work did
<v Speaker 1>you do in there?
<v Speaker 2>Okay, well, typically I was a line producer, but every
<v Speaker 2>once in a while I would get in with a camera.
<v Speaker 2>And I'm a master scuba instructor, so that means that
<v Speaker 2>not only can I teach people to scuba dive, but
<v Speaker 2>I can teach people to be scuba instructors anyway. So
<v Speaker 2>and I've over now I have over four thousand log dives,
<v Speaker 2>and I've dove with sharks and nineteen different species of whales.
<v Speaker 2>I've traveled all over the world doing that. But at
<v Speaker 2>the time when I saw Bigfoot, I was just three
<v Speaker 2>years out of college and I was working for a
<v Speaker 2>high tech company at the time, just trying to make
<v Speaker 2>a living. And this friend of mine who was celebrating
<v Speaker 2>his thirtieth birthday, he actually was a friend of my
<v Speaker 2>older brothers, So my other older brother was there too,
<v Speaker 2>but he was fast asleep in his tent like everybody else.
<v Speaker 1>You mentioned while working at Warner Bros. That you've seen
<v Speaker 1>costumes that look real.
<v Speaker 2>I was on the set of The Mummy, which wasn't
<v Speaker 2>a Warner Brothers production. It was a Universal production, but
<v Speaker 2>I was on the set. I was a guest because
<v Speaker 2>I was dating a woman who was working on the production.
<v Speaker 2>And I walked up to this you know, if you
<v Speaker 2>ever watched the movie, the first one that they did, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I walked up to this guy who was in a
<v Speaker 2>was supposed to be a you know, a half dog
<v Speaker 2>from the waist up and a half man from the
<v Speaker 2>waist down. And his cost and makeup cost twenty thousand dollars.
<v Speaker 2>Of course you can do that if you work for Universal,
<v Speaker 2>if you live out in the Mount Saint Helens, you
<v Speaker 2>probably wouldn't do that as a hoax. But you can't
<v Speaker 2>rule that out if Warner Brothers or Universal wanted to
<v Speaker 2>make someone look they have you watch the commercials, but
<v Speaker 2>the beef Jersey commercials whatever. So I mean, I suppose
<v Speaker 2>that's possible, but I don't think so. I think I
<v Speaker 2>saw an actual Bigfoot. And after talking to the other people,
<v Speaker 2>when everyone finally got up and we were having breakfast,
<v Speaker 2>a lot of other people were like, yeah, yeah, August
<v Speaker 2>is that's when they come.
<v Speaker 1>So what do you believe Bigfoot is? Where do you
<v Speaker 1>think they came from?
<v Speaker 2>Well? I think it's Astrolopithecus gigantis from Asia. That's my theory.
<v Speaker 1>So yep.
<v Speaker 2>And I took a semester of anthropology at Oregon State University,
<v Speaker 2>so obviously I'm an expert. But who knows. I don't
<v Speaker 2>know he is what he is. But one thing I
<v Speaker 2>do know is that I've been back to that location before,
<v Speaker 2>never saw him again. But if I ever did, I'll
<v Speaker 2>just leave him alone. My friend talked to me to
<v Speaker 2>it and said, you know, you gotta just leave nature be. Hey,
<v Speaker 2>humans we have we are destroying nature badly enough as
<v Speaker 2>it is. So he was a very strict conservationalist and
<v Speaker 2>a very good man. I don't know if he still
<v Speaker 2>lives there or not. I don't even even know if
<v Speaker 2>he's still alive or not. But because I was ninety
<v Speaker 2>four and now I'm an old man getting close to sixty,
<v Speaker 2>and I'm enjoying my retirement on the side of the nation.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's understandable. Okay, Kevin. I think that wraps up
<v Speaker 1>your bigfoot encounter. And I really appreciate you getting in

<v Speaker 1>think it's wild that Kevin woke up and slid Bigfoot
<v Speaker 1>face down drinking water in the river. Maybe the sasquatch
<v Speaker 1>were around them the whole night and they didn't even
<v Speaker 1>know it. It seems like sasquatch can easily become distracted
<v Speaker 1>at times, even though they are extremely intelligent. I find
<v Speaker 1>this story to be extremely fascinating just because I interviewed
<v Speaker 1>a man from Tennessee who talked about a sasquatch that
<v Speaker 1>he saw that was swimming in the river. Not only
<v Speaker 1>do the bigfoot travel waterways, they can also navigate by
<v Speaker 1>water at times, similar to a crocodile, so letting Navy seal.
<v Speaker 1>These things can sneak up on you at any moment,
<v Speaker 1>even if you're surrounded by other houses and highways. If
<v Speaker 1>you've got enough forest for the deer to hide, it
<v Speaker 1>is possible for a sasquatch to sneak in and out
<v Speaker 1>of the area when the conditions are right, especially if
<v Speaker 1>there is a large forest somewhere near in the area.
