Hopefully you guys enjoyed our episode with Charles Barkley. Today we've got the Armatani Brothers, George, Jimmy John. These are the guys. They're DJs. They're all over the place, they play shows all over the place. But these guys have put together the playlist that you will be hearing postgame in the Phillies Clubhouse. Actually it's been the playlist for much of the season, but now people are finally hearing it for the first time. And I wanted to have the brothers on because music, obviously is such a huge part of everybody's life, but it has been a way that has connected fans, Phillies fans to this Phillies team. I remember being in the Phillies Clubhouse, the Visitors Clubhouse at Bush Stadium after they swept the Cardinals and the NL Wild Card Series. The players are all belting out dancing on my own. Next thing, you know, Garrett Stubbs playlist on Spotify is all over the place dancing on my own because the postseason anthem for the Phillies and so they changed it up a little bit this year. The Armintani Brothers, working with Garrett Stubbs, put together this playlist and it is absolutely exploded. It's a lot of fun to listen to. These guys are super talented, and they are not only super talented, but they're from Northeast Philly. They went to Holy Ghost, they're legit Phillies fans, they go to games, they remember the two thousand and eight World Series championship team, and obviously now they're part of it. So here you go the Armantani Brothers. Guys, thanks the lot. We're with the Armantani Brothers who are kind of blown up in Philly and this past week, guys, because you've been working with Garrett Stubbs, everybody knows the story by now. You guys have been working on this playlist since the beginning of the season. But now it's finally out there, and I'm wondering what has this past week been like? Because the Phillies have been playing this playlist since the beginning of the season, but now it just got released and this is such I thought this was so much fun because Phillies fans connect so much with this team and one of the ways they have connected with this team is through music and through dancing on my own and their post game playlist which is played during all the clinchers. So for you guys to be part of it, what's that like and what is this has week been like? And let's start with the youngest. Let's start with Johnson. He's right, because the oldest, the oldest, you know, the oldest guys. You know, come on, let's get it.

Speaker 3: It's it's been insane. I mean, I'm still trying to, you know, capture it all and understand everything that's going on. Because every time I look at Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, whatever it is, you afresh it and there's new fans, there's new followers, there's new comments, there's new everything, and you feel like, in a certain extent, it's like I can't stop looking at my phone because if I look away for one hour, I'm gonna miss everything.

Speaker 2: Right they they rattle off eleven wins in the postseason and there's a lot of clinchers and your music's playing in the background, and you guys are maybe at Citizens Bank Park or rolling down Broad Street with the fellows playing your music during a parade or something. I don't know, what do you what's the hope for you?

Speaker 6: I think you took the words right out of my mouth. I mean, of course that's the hope for everything. But we're big baseball guys, so the game at a time, you know, we're really superstitious in the sense of, you know, let's take care of the NLDS first and we'll take it from there, one game game out of time.

Speaker 1: But yeah, the whole experience has been great.

Speaker 6: So far, a little overwhelming, not gonna lie, but it's also been super exciting. And I know, like literally right before I gotten this interview, I was like, oh no, now another interview and now this and I gotta have on that. So it's been really overwhelming. But you know, we've had a great family and friends help us out with a lot of things going on right now. And of course I have my brothers Georgie and John helping me with everything going on right now. And Garrett helped us a lot beforehand.

Speaker 6: Know, the media is gonna be all over this, so when it comes out, so you better be ready. So Garrett did let us know, and he kinda uh taught us a few things here and there. So we're really excited for the opportunity that we're able to connect as fans of Philadelphia sports, uh and overall and kind of connect the overall fan base with what's going on in the Phillies team this year with music like yeah.

What was that night like as they come to the clincher because it was obviously set up that you were you'll release it after they clinch, you know, so what was that like? You know, watching that game go buy and go all right, here we go. We're gonna drop it. It's gonna be out there. It's gonna be out there. It must have been been pretty exciting.

Speaker 7: I mean, there were a few moments throughout the season where the media had caught them listening to love music, as I referred to it, and we would see that, and even then I was smiling from ear to ear and texting all my friends in front of the guys, like listen to the postgame show, you can hear what's going on. But we kept it under wraps because we wanted it to be you know, they're the team's thing until the playoffs, and then I actually was watching that game so closely and really anticipating, like, Okay, what's going to happen here? Like put Garrett texted us and we put together a clean version of the mix for them to play in the stadium, a little snippet, and then we released the version that the team had us put together. Speaker 7: Philadelphia media outlets started to really post about it immediately after the game, and so once the game ended, we were really happy to see them celebrating, and then we looked at our phones and we were like, oh man, this is happening.

Speaker 7: People were following us, people were reaching out to us. The mix was getting streamed like hundreds by the minute. People were, you know, commenting on it, getting interactive and seeing the support that we've gotten from Phillies fans getting behind us, from the media getting behind us, and people being so positive and supportive, and you know, hearing the art that we made. It can be nerve wracking when you're putting your yourself out there like that because we know the.

Speaker 4: Team liked it, but now you're releasing it to every every fan of the Billy Beans. Aren't the easiest to please.

Speaker 7: Yeah, myself, I know, so we were a little at least personally, I was a little nervous there because I was like, Okay, we know the team likes it.

Speaker 7: And then seeing everybody else in the web enjoy the mix and get behind it was was super exciting.

Speaker 2: So, like, people know, of course that you guys put together this mix, but let's let's say for instance, you know, I'm forty nine, I'm you know, I'm married a guy. Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, I appreciate that. You know, I live in the suburbs. Let's say, for argument's sake, yeah, I'm not a super Yeah, hypothetically, I'm not the coolest guy, and I'm not super tuned into what you guys do. How would you guys describe what you guys? I knew you guys played a show in Baltimore. You guys are DJs. You put together these mixes, And again, for somebody uncool like myself, how would you describe like what you guys do together?

Speaker 7: We'll give yourself some credit. I think, first of all, music music knows no bounds. But we so we produce our own original music. We make remixes of popular songs, Dancing on my own being one of them, which is included in that mix. And and we travel around at different nightclubs colleges performing for people that you know, want us to come out to their their cities or their schools and perform. And so we make primarily dance music, like electronic dance music, and we you know, we try to make play a wide array of things at our gigs, so that even if you're not in a dance music fan, we might mix some country dance music or some hip hop dance music into that.

Speaker 7: And so and yeah, anytime you want to come, or anyone wants to come, I'm sure we'll have a little bit of something to make you feel included in the into the crowd.

Speaker 2: Well that's why I like, you know, like you have like Dixie Land Delight in there remixed, you know, and mixed, and you know, you have some good country songs in there, which which is pretty cool. But Jimmy, like, you guys grow up together. Do you guys come from like a musical household? Like how did you start?

Speaker 6: Okay, Yeah, so we definitely come from musical household. Parents played instruments or dad was playing guitar, and our mom played piano and a ton of other instruments too, and.

Speaker 1: Our grandfather taught us how to play piano.

Speaker 6: And he also had his own Greek orchestra that would travel across the country playing people weddings and stuff.

Speaker 1: So he's ninety two years old.

Speaker 6: And he's acstatic about all this news and he's our biggest fan out there through everything and seeing us on all these media outlets is it makes him so happy.

Speaker 1: And I just got off the film with him.

Speaker 6: I'd call him multiple times a day regardless, but he's smiling hear to year, and we're making him so happy.

Speaker 1: So it definitely comes a lot from my grandfather.

Speaker 6: We spent a lot of times, you know, piano lessons and with him practicing the piano and then working from there kind of with the guitar and then kind of using that for a production at this point, so kind of on the they call him like dolls, so they're like logic and pro x and like booty loop and stuff like that. So we'll produce our original music on there and our remixes and then also our mixes in general to kind of what we've done for the Phillies, So you know, one step at a time. But we do have a musical background from a young age.

Speaker 2: So like when did you guys start getting together and saying let's make music together. I mean how you know, like what like Georgia twenty eight. Yep, John, you're the youngest at twenty two, so yeah.

Speaker 7: I I've been DJing since I was thirteen or fourteen. I went to a show and I didn't know what it was, and I said, sure, I'll go. I want my friend he had an extra ticket, and then I fell in love with it. My other friend who one of my best buds. He showed me how he was djaying at the time, and then started hustling from there, Like we would make petitions to our student government in high school to play like twenty minute dance music sets, and we would get a couple DJ friends together and do that. And then jim and john actually shortly after, even though they were youngers, We're like, oh, my.

Speaker 5: Older brother's doing this. This seems cool.

Speaker 7: So they all did it individually, and then as I went to college, did the bars and the clubs and sold tickets to open up. Then Jimmy was a couple of years behind me and he was doing a similar thing, and then Johnny was doing it in the background while he was in high school. And then we all kind of had this idea. I was like, we were like this, three brothers, we're all best friends, we all do the same thing. One day, we should just do it all together. It's you know, it's one people can connect with that too. We'd have a blast being able to travel around and play our music together as as brothers and as performers. And as Johnny was a little bit older, he was closing in on twenty one, we were like, I think it's time, so right around COVID.

Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, Well, for for purposes, we'll say Johnny was twenty one when he first started in the trio, but he we we started the trio rape a little before COVID, about a year before that, and gained some traction.

Speaker 4: COVID happened, and George, you're allowed to perform if you're eighteen eighteen, that's true, that's fair enough eighteen.

Speaker 7: And then we just kept making music, kept making remixes, and came out of the pandemic and we were hitting the ground running doing shows and u and it was it was a lot of fun. And then from there we've been able to tour a couple of times and build build our music catalog and build our following.

Speaker 2: That's awesome. And then well, I think the cool part about this, or one of the cool parts about this, is that you guys are all like legit hardcore Phillies fans.

Speaker 2: No, yeah, right, totally right, exactly right. But I'm yeah, what, but explain your your Phillies fandom, Like how deep does it go? Do you guys go to tons of games? Do you guys have players? Do you guys have autographed jerseys and bats and balls and all that stuff?

Speaker 3: I mean, I was at the game last night, and like I said, when someone asked me this question something similar, I said, a Phillies win or an Eagles win, or an Eagles loss, Phillies lost, whatever it is, it can dictate my whole entire day in mood or week.

Speaker 3: You know, I can either be the happiest person ever because all my teams won but when it comes to when we have the track factor, once Liars start backup, you get the Phillies playoffs and I think they line up and then Eagles too mix in there. That's where it's like I could either have the best to beat Devin or the worst.

Speaker 2: Do you guys have favorite players like like George Jimmy John? Like who growing up? Who are your guys?

Speaker 7: Well, I mean all the guys on the team right now are pretty awesome. I mean I always have a soft spot for Bryce. He's a He's an awesome sure of that, uh that clubhouse, and I think he embodies the city really well. But with working with the guys this year, that's what we've realized is that more more than anything, they're all really good people and they all want to win more than anything else. And it's really cool when a team and the city have the same passion and same goal where it's you know, it's not you know me and I and it's not the stats. It's the goal is to win a World Series and they want that more than anything. And uh so all the guys right now, I mean growing up, that eight squad was pretty special. Uh to watch with the Utley and Howard and you know Victory. You know, I was the center fielder, so I always love watching him fly around out there. But it's it's yeah, any Phillies guy, you're gonna get a biased answer from us because we love you. If you're part of our team, we love you.

Speaker 8: What about you, Jimmy, Yeah, I would say that eighth squad, you know, that five to eight squad anywhere from like Brett Myers, the Howard to Uddly And then we had like kind.

Speaker 6: Of a little loll in a little bit. But you know, we still stay true to our Philly fandom. We're still watching on when we're in the doghouse of the NL East. I mean, just like our sixers. And during the process, I was cheering when we had like thirteen wins. I was like ecstatic, and we beat the Golden State Warriors only a Tuesday night.

Speaker 6: So like just in general, I mean, this squad for the past couple of years has been a lot of people I've looked up to, like Harper and that type of stuff. But at the same time, now that we're able to have such a pivotal role of curating the vibes in the locker room, we've been able to foster these friendships with them, and it doesn't feel like it's still as fandom, but they're fans of us also, so they're fans of us and we're fans of them, and we support each other, but it's more of a genuine relationship and friendship, and they really embody of what the city is asking for and the ultimate goal of winning a World Series. And every time I talk to any player on the team, that's all they care about or think about. I've never heard one guy be like, oh I I got three hits in that game or stuff like that, Oh I'm bad in three hundred now that they literally don't care about that at all. And if I'm sure if one player talked about that on the team, they would get just very hard.

Speaker 2: People ask me that question all the time when they find out I covered the team, They go, what are the guys like, what are the guys like and I say, this is probably the best the best team I've covered, you know, player wise, clubhouse wise, in terms of just guys being stand up, being good people, all those guys getting along together. So for people that again like aren't familiar with, like how a song is mixed, let's just use Dancing on my own the remix version of that. How long does it take to put something like that together? And I'm sure you guys are adding pieces throughout, maybe making tweaks here and there, but generally speaking, if you're going to do a song, how long does that take? Is that week's months, a day?

And then sometimes you're working on a remix and you hit like a creative role where they're like, all right, it sounds good, but not really what I want it to sound like. So it really depends on the track, like some can take days, some can take weeks because you put it down for a little bit because you just can't you're out where to go next.

I'm like, uh, yeah, it's great, man, But there is a ton of support, uh from everyone around and like where we went to school too, and a holy Ghost and even at Drexel, I know they've been posting, like the business school there because they're all business school of Bograds and they posted on their social media and really supporting us.

Maybe they're sad from a breakup, maybe I'll cheer you up. Yeah, no doubt, everything one step at a time, but we're really excited for everything.
