<v Speaker 1>Hay everybody, It's March third, twenty twenty six. Welcome to
<v Speaker 1>the Giant BombCast. I'm your host, Jan oh Shoa, constantly
<v Speaker 1>surprised by the passage of time, but here to help
<v Speaker 1>guide me. Co captain of the ship Jeff Grub.
<v Speaker 2>I have stopped playing old video games to come talk
<v Speaker 2>to you Jan about old video games.
<v Speaker 1>Thank god. We have the master of ceremonies of everything old,
<v Speaker 1>everything new, and everything in between, Dan Record.
<v Speaker 3>I also spent last night playing old video games, and
<v Speaker 3>I'm ready to talk about old video games.
<v Speaker 1>Well, fantastic. We have the podcast just for that. We
<v Speaker 1>welcome all video game discussion, new and old, except the
<v Speaker 1>next fella right here, because he's the bird boy of
<v Speaker 1>games media.
<v Speaker 4>My like me, naughty.
<v Speaker 5>I need to stop eating whole burritos ten minutes before
<v Speaker 5>the show starts.
<v Speaker 2>It's your brand. You can't stop.
<v Speaker 3>For those who listen to just the podcast itself and
<v Speaker 3>aren't privy to the pre show and things like that,
<v Speaker 3>we were getting we were getting into the meat of
<v Speaker 3>what's going on with Mikey's mornings.
<v Speaker 1>And Mike was getting into the meat as well.
<v Speaker 6>He was so you were you, Mike?
<v Speaker 3>You seem like a man who has strong thoughts about
<v Speaker 3>eating in the morning and timing of things, and uh,
<v Speaker 3>what was this morning?
<v Speaker 5>Like, Well, this morning I had to get up to
<v Speaker 5>do a Nintendo thingy. When I got up, then I
<v Speaker 5>had one of my granola bars so I could take
<v Speaker 5>my morning pills and not be visible for that, and
<v Speaker 5>then just kind of stealing other things. And then I
<v Speaker 5>was like, well, I'm not hungry yet because I have
<v Speaker 5>my granola bar, but I'm gonna be hungry. And as
<v Speaker 5>often as the case, I kind of a busy day
<v Speaker 5>where like I'm not gonna go somewhere between like the
<v Speaker 5>Nintendo thing and this. So at eleven o'clock is exactly
<v Speaker 5>when I can order grubhub hotheads because you can only
<v Speaker 5>order it right when that store opens. You can't like
<v Speaker 5>do it before. So at eleven o'clock I go on
<v Speaker 5>my phone like I want hotheads today, please, And there's
<v Speaker 5>a little bit of a crapshew. Sometimes it's like twenty
<v Speaker 5>five minutes it's here. Sometimes it's it's a bit more.
<v Speaker 5>And honestly, I got distracted just being on the internet,
<v Speaker 5>and I think it was here like ten minutes before
<v Speaker 5>I realize, So I think I got that thing at
<v Speaker 5>eleven forty five and then was like the god, what
<v Speaker 5>did I get? I think I went to the bathroomsoning too,
<v Speaker 5>so I didn't even start eating that right away. And
<v Speaker 5>then like it's like, I'm basically it's like time to
<v Speaker 5>eat my burrito. Oh shit, people are in discord. Ah,
<v Speaker 5>So then I started that thing. I basically took the
<v Speaker 5>first bite as I joined the discord call to get
<v Speaker 5>ready for this.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, hard has a burrito ever breached the perimeter of
<v Speaker 3>your bathroom?
<v Speaker 5>No, I'm to take it in there?
<v Speaker 6>Are you just chowing down?
<v Speaker 3>And he's like, we're not gonna go in the bathroom,
<v Speaker 3>and like, you know, having it one hand in the bathroom.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean, burritos are portable, but I don't want
<v Speaker 5>to walk around with them. There's too much rest that
<v Speaker 5>stuff falling out of them. I'm like, I'm gonna eat
<v Speaker 5>wherever I have sat down the burrito. That thing is
<v Speaker 5>getting finished there. I'm not taking it around.
<v Speaker 2>The efficiency if it's portability, like as soon as you
<v Speaker 2>start thinking about the logistics of the rice flopping around,
<v Speaker 2>it's like there's no benefit to this.
<v Speaker 4>I'm going to pay for this later and cleaning up
<v Speaker 4>time now.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like the four of us here are burrito officionados.
<v Speaker 1>I've shared breakfast burritos with all three, all four, all
<v Speaker 1>four of us before Jeff Beckler by the ways out
<v Speaker 1>on assignment. I need to ask y'all, what is the
<v Speaker 1>burrito tech in attacking the first bite of a burrito?
<v Speaker 4>Right?
<v Speaker 1>Say, a burrito standing tall? Where do you attack that?
<v Speaker 1>Do you go straight down on the left corner?
<v Speaker 4>Okay?
<v Speaker 2>I just try to find a corner I find. I
<v Speaker 2>try to find the largest most protruding corner. Now, any
<v Speaker 2>corner on the top of brito could be the top
<v Speaker 2>left corner if you turn it, so I guess, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I might actually come out from.
<v Speaker 5>Be at the bottom. When you're holding it, they gotta be.
<v Speaker 3>A folded, but the one side will usually be more
<v Speaker 3>tightly wrapped up. So I look at both sides and
<v Speaker 3>whichever end seems tighter that goes on the.
<v Speaker 4>Is it in foil for you guys?
<v Speaker 5>Sometimes it depends, it ends. I mean mine is always
<v Speaker 5>completely out mine. I always eat the full run.
<v Speaker 4>To what end?
<v Speaker 5>I know what?
<v Speaker 1>What?
<v Speaker 5>What's the end?
<v Speaker 1>Are you?
<v Speaker 4>Are you getting out of fork it at some point?
<v Speaker 1>Is that?
<v Speaker 5>Is that your your strategy? I'm pretty I just focus
<v Speaker 5>really hard. I'll keep you all in there. Look, guys, Also,
<v Speaker 5>my burritos maybe don't have quite as many little particles
<v Speaker 5>in right.
<v Speaker 3>If it is the type of burrito that comes in foil,
<v Speaker 3>I think you need to kind of utilize that, Like
<v Speaker 3>if it's a big old honky Chipotle or Cadoo.
<v Speaker 2>Tomatoes and stuff in there, like I get what like saying.
<v Speaker 3>But then there's like taco bell ones that are just
<v Speaker 3>like you know, it's a smaller one cheese roll up,
<v Speaker 3>it's a cheese and beef burrito.
<v Speaker 6>That's fine, That's okay.
<v Speaker 1>Now if we're going with like a burrito that is
<v Speaker 1>is wrapped in foil. This is something I do personally,
<v Speaker 1>and I've never shared this with any anyone, but this
<v Speaker 1>is a safe space between all of us and I
<v Speaker 1>guess the internet. I squished the burrito a little bit
<v Speaker 1>and decide from there which side to start on, like
<v Speaker 1>an avocado, like, well, which side's right, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
<v Speaker 1>And generally I'll start on the softer side because I
<v Speaker 1>want all the meat and stuff to like kind of
<v Speaker 1>stew at the bottom.
<v Speaker 4>I have.
<v Speaker 3>I told you guys about my French f I squishing.
<v Speaker 2>I think, so you squish two together.
<v Speaker 4>Explain it again.
<v Speaker 1>You save the crispy bits.
<v Speaker 6>No.
<v Speaker 4>No.
<v Speaker 3>As a child and I'm talking like I have McDonald
<v Speaker 3>almost every day as a child, like for most of
<v Speaker 3>my upbringing, and so tens of thousands of fries. I've
<v Speaker 3>done this too. For some reason, I thought it made
<v Speaker 3>it taste better. If you take the fry, you fold
<v Speaker 3>it on it so right, you fold it againrimp until
<v Speaker 3>it's like a little squishy potatoe oily ball, and I
<v Speaker 3>would eat it like a little ball.
<v Speaker 6>And I would do that to eat one of them.
<v Speaker 5>This once you did a starbrist too. You just had
<v Speaker 5>a fascination of turning things into balls. Right.
<v Speaker 2>This is not the first time I've heard this. People
<v Speaker 2>like to squish bread and like just eat slices of bread,
<v Speaker 2>and I've heard that before.
<v Speaker 4>I never looked it up. I just looked it up.
<v Speaker 2>Squishing bread concentrates its flavor by forcing out air, creating
<v Speaker 2>a denser texture that feels more satisfying, doe and moist
<v Speaker 2>to the palate. And I bet the same exact thing
<v Speaker 2>is happening when you do that to the French fries,
<v Speaker 2>I think.
<v Speaker 3>And it also you know, I'm never happier as a
<v Speaker 3>child than eating McDonald's French fries, and so I think
<v Speaker 3>it also extended the pleasure you know, I home.
<v Speaker 1>Dan, please finish the sentence.
<v Speaker 6>I was edging my French fries.
<v Speaker 1>Right, folks at home? You can support all these Shenanigans

<v Speaker 1>be on the showy yeah, gang. I don't think we've
<v Speaker 1>talked about this, and I think it's safe to say

<v Speaker 4>Uh? What is really simple syndication?
<v Speaker 1>Feed?
<v Speaker 4>Really really simple syndication.
<v Speaker 3>How do you if you want to like this? Let's
<v Speaker 3>say I'm a listener and I oh, I'm premium. This
<v Speaker 3>sounds good. Uh, what what do I do with that?
<v Speaker 4>You go to Dan?
<v Speaker 5>I actually think these are excellent questions.

<v Speaker 1>I have a great day working at this website pretty
<v Speaker 1>much every day. All right, boys, burrito talk or are
<v Speaker 1>we finished? Do we want to move on anything else?
<v Speaker 1>There's only a couple of video games to talk about. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I did.
<v Speaker 2>I don't look at the burrito itself. I look at
<v Speaker 2>the foil.
<v Speaker 4>We're talking.
<v Speaker 2>I'm talking exclusively soil rep and then like I'm like,
<v Speaker 2>which side of the foil is sturdiest, and that's that
<v Speaker 2>becomes the base so you can hold everything together.
<v Speaker 4>And then the looser side. I peeled that and start
<v Speaker 4>on the side and then.
<v Speaker 2>I just put a little I put a dab at
<v Speaker 2>tabasco right there in the corner, and I bite.
<v Speaker 4>The first first bite has to have that hot sauce.
<v Speaker 5>On it, and that's distract I just take it out,
<v Speaker 5>but I don't want to be peeling a burrito the
<v Speaker 5>whole time.
<v Speaker 4>I get it. It's it sounds nice, but yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>have liquid matter to deal with. Yes, tomatoes, and.
<v Speaker 1>Sometimes like I don't finish the brito in one sitting
<v Speaker 1>and I need to rewrap it, right.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I keep the if I'm taking it out of
<v Speaker 3>the foil, I am keeping the foil top and.
<v Speaker 6>Everything so I can mush it up and put it
<v Speaker 6>in the fridge.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, burrito's reheat great, you do. You do a little
<v Speaker 3>bit in the microwave to make sure everything's heated through,
<v Speaker 3>and then you throw in the air fryer to make
<v Speaker 3>sure the outside's crispy.
<v Speaker 5>This is probably another meat problem. I don't think I've
<v Speaker 5>ever not eaten the whole burrito. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I was the same way, and then then I got
<v Speaker 2>on the zimpie and now I haven't finished a burrito
<v Speaker 2>in the last year.
<v Speaker 4>So different life.
<v Speaker 1>Sorry, I just started thinking about Oh actually, uh, I
<v Speaker 1>think a cold burrito is one of my favorite leftovers.
<v Speaker 1>I know we talked about like a cold pizza. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's because I feel like, you know, like with a lasagnia, Right,
<v Speaker 1>you let it sit for a bit, everything just sticks together. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>I apply the same mentality to a cold burrito. Oh oh,
<v Speaker 1>he won't work with a fast food burrito, just because
<v Speaker 1>everything just gets so much harder and stale in there.
<v Speaker 1>I think that's things I'm used to taco bell ones
<v Speaker 1>and it's just like, yeah, that just gets kind of like.
<v Speaker 4>You need you need their far for that.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, you guys have are like really like just rub
<v Speaker 5>your foil against a surface for like ten minutes and
<v Speaker 5>then it's just super smooth.
<v Speaker 1>I love that. Oh that, do I ever rub it
<v Speaker 1>out for ten minutes? Not that long?
<v Speaker 3>Sometimes smooth, Mike, you just weren't looking at your own
<v Speaker 3>video frame when it was going on.
<v Speaker 5>Less like that. If I do it over here like this, No,
<v Speaker 5>it looks like you're far away.
<v Speaker 2>It looks like you're mocking Doggie style, and it's worse.
<v Speaker 1>I you know, I don't really like the top of
<v Speaker 1>the sometimes the top of the pot is my favorite.
<v Speaker 1>Before we actually talk about video games.
<v Speaker 4>And this is your most favorite yet?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, I'm doing more of like a sawing motion.
<v Speaker 1>Now worse, got.
<v Speaker 6>You gotta just.
<v Speaker 1>It should be smoother a right, man, Mikey just like
<v Speaker 1>stun locks me sometimes.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, there's not to be done, man.
<v Speaker 1>Each each week, I like, I feel like I haven't
<v Speaker 1>done a good segue in like a year or something.
<v Speaker 1>I throw you off, just like Mike Manati has thrown
<v Speaker 1>this game in the trash. Mike Manatti, you have been
<v Speaker 1>playing Neo, and I understand that you may not be
<v Speaker 1>as high on it as other members of.
<v Speaker 5>This Oh boy, I mean I was. I like it, Okay,
<v Speaker 5>I was sticking around with it for a while. I
<v Speaker 5>maybe played I bet I played for like four or
<v Speaker 5>five hours, and I kept waiting for it to pick
<v Speaker 5>up a little bit. I'm not I'm usually somebody who
<v Speaker 5>minds a slower pace, but there is something about this
<v Speaker 5>where I kept thinking that at this point in the
<v Speaker 5>game I should have like two more movement abilities than
<v Speaker 5>I do, and maybe three more combat things, because you know,
<v Speaker 5>it's one of those where you start off and based
<v Speaker 5>on all you can do is walk, jump, and you
<v Speaker 5>have like this three attack combo thing, right, and it's
<v Speaker 5>relatively simple. I'm like, okay, I'm gonna start getting some
<v Speaker 5>stuff though, and that's fine, and you have this one
<v Speaker 5>spawn point and like from from the very beginning for
<v Speaker 5>this one spawn point. You know, a lot of metroveins
<v Speaker 5>will kind of like the first relatively linear section. It
<v Speaker 5>seems like almost right away there's a lot of different
<v Speaker 5>paths you can go to and they reach certain bosses.
<v Speaker 5>But even like finding these bosses, I often wasn't necessarily
<v Speaker 5>getting much. I open up a store the guy who
<v Speaker 5>was sewing some upgrades, and then I bought like all
<v Speaker 5>those upgrades almost immediately. And it's been like four hours later,
<v Speaker 5>and he still won't restock. So I can get some
<v Speaker 5>other things, I thought. One boss and and you know,
<v Speaker 5>I got this ability where I can kind of do
<v Speaker 5>a little bit of a grappling hook thing. But it's
<v Speaker 5>when there's a grappling hook, I am there. That's fine.
<v Speaker 5>Like four hours in, I finally got a counter button,
<v Speaker 5>and that was nice, but I felt like I fought
<v Speaker 5>like five bosses without it. It was kind of five
<v Speaker 5>bosses of just jumping out of the way and attacking them. Oh,
<v Speaker 5>you start with the double jump. You do have a
<v Speaker 5>double jump. See that's the pros their mistake. They should
<v Speaker 5>give you this double jump very late.
<v Speaker 6>The big one that's the main event right there.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's the main.
<v Speaker 5>Event, Chuck said. Chuck said, skill issue. That's funny. Actually,
<v Speaker 5>it kind of is a little frustrat because, like I,
<v Speaker 5>I mean, I got a second spawn point when I
<v Speaker 5>was like playing last night again like four or five hours,
<v Speaker 5>and I feel like, maybe that's exaggeration, I don't know,
<v Speaker 5>but it's a lot of relatively deep in this game,
<v Speaker 5>and then you die and then you go back to
<v Speaker 5>that one spawned point.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, it didn't feel like I was making out
<v Speaker 2>like the progress was. I'm I had a similar experience
<v Speaker 2>to you, Mike, where it wasn't off. It was just
<v Speaker 2>different than what I was expecting. I like the idea
<v Speaker 2>of pushing out into the world in a Metroid Vanya
<v Speaker 2>and feeling like it takes a certain amount of getting
<v Speaker 2>over the hurdle to get to that first and next
<v Speaker 2>save point. But that's an important like milestone that I
<v Speaker 2>want to get relatively early on, and I want to
<v Speaker 2>feel like I just overcame a little bit and it's
<v Speaker 2>like now I know, Okay, so the game is going
<v Speaker 2>to dole out these feelings of advancement at about this
<v Speaker 2>pace and I could sort of count on it if
<v Speaker 2>I were to push out into the world again, it
<v Speaker 2>might be a little bit harder, but I could expect
<v Speaker 2>maybe ten fifteen minutes, I'm going to find another save point,
<v Speaker 2>and I wasn't. I didn't have that, so I kind
<v Speaker 2>of didn't have much to grasp onto and I wasn't
<v Speaker 2>necessarily loving the base right play.
<v Speaker 1>Question for you guys. I know we've talked to in
<v Speaker 1>the past about like jerrpgs having a slower start and
<v Speaker 1>kind of having patients of like, okay, well, ten twenty
<v Speaker 1>hours that's when the game opens up. But with a
<v Speaker 1>Metroid Vania, where is your barometer of like, okay, no,
<v Speaker 1>it's got its hooks in me. I'm gonna stick in
<v Speaker 1>for the long haul.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, I'll allow a little intro narrative sequence like
<v Speaker 5>Super Metroid kind of a thing, Right, most of them
<v Speaker 5>have that, like Okay, you can do your little inter
<v Speaker 5>thing and then maybe again when you start the game.
<v Speaker 5>Even Soaksong was like this where almost the first act
<v Speaker 5>was almost surprisingly linear in a way, and then it
<v Speaker 5>kind of opens up a bit more later.
<v Speaker 4>Right.
<v Speaker 5>But I do think that even when you do just
<v Speaker 5>have kind of your jump in your attack and not
<v Speaker 5>much else, it should feel good as a baseline and
<v Speaker 5>then you start getting stuff relatively quickly. I mean, you know,
<v Speaker 5>like get a metroid usually give you that warpball pretty quick,
<v Speaker 5>and then pretty quick you're gonna get the missiles. And
<v Speaker 5>it's just like really a constant evolution and a flow
<v Speaker 5>of the upgrades that you're getting. And I like that feeling.
<v Speaker 4>Now.
<v Speaker 5>I think this game is doing a lot with the
<v Speaker 5>environment and the aesthetic and the music, like all that
<v Speaker 5>stuff is great and it looks really good. It's it's
<v Speaker 5>just not quite as I don't know if zippy is
<v Speaker 5>the word. It's a little it needs a bit more sauce.
<v Speaker 5>I suppose a little bit more meo sauce on here,
<v Speaker 5>and I think I'd be into it a bit more.
<v Speaker 3>I feel like a Prince of Persia. Lost Crown was
<v Speaker 3>like I don't remember like a long build up there.
<v Speaker 3>I remember just kind of like right away being like whoop, yep,
<v Speaker 3>this feels good, you know.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, And there was like an inter thing where you're
<v Speaker 5>at war and then you were like at the palace
<v Speaker 5>talking to people. So there's like again, there was a
<v Speaker 5>little bit of a wind up, but.
<v Speaker 2>It felt good, right. It also felt like a wind up.
<v Speaker 2>The beginning of this game doesn't necessarily feel like a
<v Speaker 2>wind up. It feels like the game, And I'm like,
<v Speaker 2>are you throwing me into the meat of it? And
<v Speaker 2>this is what it is? Or is there more to
<v Speaker 2>it after this? And there might be, but it just
<v Speaker 2>it didn't feel that way. So it didn't feel like
<v Speaker 2>a launch pad the way some other Metroit Veenius can
<v Speaker 2>have their intro sequence feel that way.
<v Speaker 5>So I mean that's where I am, and I don't know.
<v Speaker 5>I kind of did put it aside for now, and
<v Speaker 5>I actually started up Dragon Question to HG two D
<v Speaker 5>and then I realized, well, Pilcopia is coming out, so
<v Speaker 5>I'm probably not going to get super far into that.
<v Speaker 5>But you know, it certainly is not some bad game
<v Speaker 5>or anything, but it's missing a little something for me
<v Speaker 5>for sure.
<v Speaker 1>That is MEO memories in Orbit. We should have actually
<v Speaker 1>started with this because I feel like you need to
<v Speaker 1>be celebrated, Dan.
<v Speaker 6>Oh, thank you, thank you.
<v Speaker 1>Of course, of course you should be celebrated every day.
<v Speaker 1>Uh seci row Dan, You've climbed to the mountain.
<v Speaker 6>Man, Man, I get it. I guess.
<v Speaker 4>I know.
<v Speaker 3>I've brought it up for weeks now as I've played
<v Speaker 3>through it, but like I think it really was at
<v Speaker 3>that last boss fight where I was like, Okay, this
<v Speaker 3>is what I wanted. This is a perfect boss fight.
<v Speaker 3>This is maybe the best boss fight I've ever played
<v Speaker 3>in a video game. It's a culmination of every skill
<v Speaker 3>you've had to pick up over the last thirty hours
<v Speaker 3>or whatever you've played the game, and then the feeling
<v Speaker 3>when you beat it is so fucking satisfying. It's I
<v Speaker 3>see what everyone said for so long, But like I
<v Speaker 3>was so care of this game for so long, just
<v Speaker 3>because like I never really took the time to get
<v Speaker 3>good at other frum Soft games, and I told myself
<v Speaker 3>I would do it here. And again I said when
<v Speaker 3>I started this game, it's because I love punch Out
<v Speaker 3>and and that kind of like learning patterns and counter
<v Speaker 3>attacking and stuff, and like, damn, this feels like a
<v Speaker 3>modern version of punch Out, which, to be fair, the
<v Speaker 3>stuff I loved about it was the boss fights. You know,
<v Speaker 3>there are the things that frustrated me were sometimes around
<v Speaker 3>just how kind of opaque the just like okay, wait
<v Speaker 3>what do I do here?
<v Speaker 6>Wait?
<v Speaker 3>Okay I talked to this person and then something happens
<v Speaker 3>over here, and then like it just it's It's a
<v Speaker 3>lot of stuff is obfuscated in a way that like, well,
<v Speaker 3>how the fuck was I s put? Like this would
<v Speaker 3>have been annoying as fuck to review. Yeah, pre really,
<v Speaker 3>you know before there were guides for people to kind
<v Speaker 3>of help, you know, move you along and stuff like that,
<v Speaker 3>because I don't really care about it, like all the
<v Speaker 3>different endings and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 6>It's just the boss fights.
<v Speaker 3>Every single one of those I fucking loved, and that
<v Speaker 3>last one was was the best ever?
<v Speaker 2>Did you end up doing the dmon of Hatred?
<v Speaker 6>That was the one I didn't? I think I put.
<v Speaker 3>I looked at it before I went to the final
<v Speaker 3>boss and I was like, okay, I kind of see
<v Speaker 3>what this is, and and people were saying like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>it's more like a Bloodborne boss fight or like a
<v Speaker 3>Dark Soul boss.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>When I find yeah, my check kind of ate me
<v Speaker 5>on to beat it. After I beat the game and
<v Speaker 5>it was an apartment, it's like, well, I don't know,
<v Speaker 5>I kind of like I did it, but it almost
<v Speaker 5>was a little bit of a kind of a weird like, nah,
<v Speaker 5>I felt really high after beating niche In, and now
<v Speaker 5>it's like, go do this other boss is kind of
<v Speaker 5>weird mechanically and it was still fun, but I don't know,
<v Speaker 5>it was almost like I would have been just as
<v Speaker 5>fine not doing it.
<v Speaker 3>And that that was my thought, is that, like, especially
<v Speaker 3>if it feels like a totally different type of combat
<v Speaker 3>and stuff, like I'm finally just kind of staying in
<v Speaker 3>the course with kind of that traditional securer style beating
<v Speaker 3>the game, and then if I want to come back
<v Speaker 3>and just do a little epilogue episode or something like that,
<v Speaker 3>I can do that and fight the name of Hatred.
<v Speaker 1>But it's what you.
<v Speaker 5>Were saying was so interesting about, like you're there for
<v Speaker 5>the boss fights because I've been playing like all these
<v Speaker 5>frum Soft games recently and I kind of feel that
<v Speaker 5>way about all them. I like running around the world
<v Speaker 5>and doing the exploring and things like that somewhat, but
<v Speaker 5>it's also sometimes it can be a little frustrating or.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, like it's great and elden Ring where they
<v Speaker 2>made that the focus.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, but I guess I was the price is like,
<v Speaker 5>you know, sometimes I would vocalize this and other people
<v Speaker 5>be like, Oh, this is this is why I like
<v Speaker 5>the games and this stuff. It's this exploration and like
<v Speaker 5>the boss is actually kind of frustrating for me.
<v Speaker 4>There are a lot of people who like the obfuscation
<v Speaker 4>that Dan was talking about.
<v Speaker 2>A lot of people are like that that gives me
<v Speaker 2>an opportunity to go watch seven hour long videos about
<v Speaker 2>this world, and then I get oh so much more
<v Speaker 2>from that. It's like, oh, yeah, okay, we're just coming
<v Speaker 2>at it from different as strokes.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, there's something cool too about like that last boss fight.
<v Speaker 3>I consider it like a four phase boss fight because
<v Speaker 3>it's a different guy, and then it's a one phase
<v Speaker 3>and then three of eashan and it's like, you know,
<v Speaker 3>I love the multi phase things because it's like, Okay,
<v Speaker 3>you're learning one of the time, and then by the
<v Speaker 3>time you get one mastered enough to where you can
<v Speaker 3>beat this phase, you've seen peaks at the next phase,
<v Speaker 3>but you haven't really been able to put it together yet.
<v Speaker 3>And then it becomes a thing where it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>I can easily beat phase one, Phase two, Yeah, I
<v Speaker 3>gotta start figuring out what the fuck happens three because
<v Speaker 3>I haven't seen that as much. And then, you know,
<v Speaker 3>I was streaming and Kayla called me at one point
<v Speaker 3>and she told me about the Oh, notice he does
<v Speaker 3>this and it's like, oh, right, he does this thing
<v Speaker 3>where he does this like jumping back sweep attack with
<v Speaker 3>the spear. Shoot shoot shoot with the gun, and then
<v Speaker 3>he comes in with the mcciy frequently afterwards, or the
<v Speaker 3>thrust that you can McCurry counter, and it's like having
<v Speaker 3>that moment of just that like yeah, seeing the matrix
<v Speaker 3>and be like okay, I know two check now he's
<v Speaker 3>doing this guard guard guard fuck you like and you
<v Speaker 3>get in there and that feels awesome.
<v Speaker 5>God feels good. Feel like out. But I remember watching
<v Speaker 5>you do the Firstkniro fight when you had the lightning
<v Speaker 5>for the frost. I mean like you struggled for that.
<v Speaker 5>Then you're winning attempt against Ashan. You had got him
<v Speaker 5>with like three lightning things.
<v Speaker 4>That was.
<v Speaker 2>That was the round.
<v Speaker 3>I got the lightning thing for the first time during
<v Speaker 3>that fight, and then I got three fucking times.
<v Speaker 5>And I talked about the game being culmination because at
<v Speaker 5>that point you had it. You don't see the lightning
<v Speaker 5>mechanic for a bit in the game that like finally
<v Speaker 5>shows up again You're like, oh my god, here we go.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>It really is that alt just building off of everything
<v Speaker 5>you have learned in that game. Each and himself super
<v Speaker 5>cool sword Saint. What a title. I wish I was
<v Speaker 5>called a sword saint.
<v Speaker 1>That was for folks. That was a good five minutes
<v Speaker 1>of our meeting yesterday, Mike just wanting to be called
<v Speaker 1>the sword Saint.
<v Speaker 4>We finally relented.
<v Speaker 1>We agreed everybody we why it.
<v Speaker 5>Would be a bad idea because like then I would
<v Speaker 5>lose the bad boy of games.
<v Speaker 3>That's the same phase of Mitch though, once we defeat
<v Speaker 3>the bad boy.
<v Speaker 6>That.
<v Speaker 1>The sword is actually just a burrito.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>I have never played punch Out, but Dan hearing, I
<v Speaker 1>mean I've witnessed uh, you know, grub climbing the charts
<v Speaker 1>and becoming a pro at punch Out. And I loved Sekiro,
<v Speaker 1>absolutely loved it. But now I'm curious of like, should
<v Speaker 1>I get in a punch Out?
<v Speaker 2>No, you should play around me. You should actually play
<v Speaker 2>punch Out for the Wii. I think you would.
<v Speaker 3>That's fantastic too, But I think I think you start
<v Speaker 3>with the first.
<v Speaker 4>I just yeah, I mean I think you.
<v Speaker 2>I just remember Jan like remember we hadn't play Yoshi's Island,
<v Speaker 2>and like the in Boss didn't have the same effect
<v Speaker 2>on him as it did us, because like, yeah, the
<v Speaker 2>guy was in the background.
<v Speaker 6>That was a graphical thing.
<v Speaker 3>That was like they had not seen something as grand
<v Speaker 3>and crazy as punch Out is not a graphical thing.
<v Speaker 6>Punch Out is pure.
<v Speaker 1>Those are pretty thing. I don't impress.
<v Speaker 3>Not the whole appeal thing is more graphical than it
<v Speaker 3>is gameplay.
<v Speaker 4>Its just shape.
<v Speaker 6>Punch Out is tremendous. I love to watch him play that.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, Okay, I don't now. The problem is I don't
<v Speaker 1>want this to be a gateway where then now I
<v Speaker 1>need to go get a mister and go get all
<v Speaker 1>the ship because I can't.
<v Speaker 2>I will have a CRT delivered in your house by
<v Speaker 2>the end of the daylight.
<v Speaker 5>On n s O, which isn't a great way to
<v Speaker 5>do some of the later fights because of the input lag,
<v Speaker 5>but like get a sense if you like doing that
<v Speaker 5>first circuit or so, then you'll know if you're a SICKO.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, okay, good.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, So you could play it with basically like zero
<v Speaker 2>lag on an emulator if you if you use retro Arch,
<v Speaker 2>because they have the run ahead thing, which is basically
<v Speaker 2>you press the button and it instantly happens.
<v Speaker 4>So it's it's about as good as crt.
<v Speaker 5>Okay, okay, okay, dan uh Secoro or Older Ring? Which
<v Speaker 5>one's better? Do you think that's so tough?
<v Speaker 1>Man?
<v Speaker 4>Don't say better? Which one do you like more? No?
<v Speaker 5>Say better?
<v Speaker 1>Be a hero?
<v Speaker 4>I want to start with you.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, let me let me talk thing through here, because
<v Speaker 3>elden Ring is up there with Breath the Wild in
<v Speaker 3>terms of that sense of discovery and unknown around what's
<v Speaker 3>around the corner or what you know what, seeing the
<v Speaker 3>map expand and stuff like that is a certain feeling
<v Speaker 3>that games give me that I fucking love and elden Ring,
<v Speaker 3>Breath the Wild both that the best of the best.
<v Speaker 3>Securo is just pure reflex and countertacking and timing and
<v Speaker 3>like the just the most boiled down video game video
<v Speaker 3>game shit ever, you know. And I don't know if
<v Speaker 3>I can say that I prefer one of those feelings
<v Speaker 3>over the other. I will say Sekuro did more to
<v Speaker 3>my fucking brain and just it I felt like Catharsis
<v Speaker 3>isn't even the word.
<v Speaker 6>I felt tingled. It was just like like a drug.
<v Speaker 3>When I like there were like three or four boss
<v Speaker 3>fights in that game where I beat him, and I seriously,
<v Speaker 3>I am just like in like bliss at like, I'm just like, ah,
<v Speaker 3>like I just feel something happened in my brain that
<v Speaker 3>Eldon Ring did not quite do because I didn't.
<v Speaker 6>The expiration is a different type of joy.
<v Speaker 5>I get it. I get a follow up question, though,
<v Speaker 5>are either of them better than Metro Prime four?
<v Speaker 3>You know I didn't score either of the front ones,
<v Speaker 3>so it's hard to say.
<v Speaker 5>It's hard the six starts.
<v Speaker 3>I muted Metroid Prime four on Blue Sky? How do
<v Speaker 3>I mute Mike Manatti on?
<v Speaker 1>Please don't kick him out? It's ruin the layout. Dan
<v Speaker 1>has has this like kind of like reawakened the hunger
<v Speaker 1>for any like souls games or you kind of like
<v Speaker 1>thinking about taking a break after this.
<v Speaker 3>I don't see myself immediately jumping into anything, but I
<v Speaker 3>do think short list for me would be looking into
<v Speaker 3>those ways to play Bloodborne at a nice frame rate,
<v Speaker 3>sure of, because yeah I did play that, but again,
<v Speaker 3>every like almost as a bit, you know, I was
<v Speaker 3>streaming it back then. I would just like I summoned
<v Speaker 3>Eric Tay and Eric Ta just like did all the
<v Speaker 3>work while I hit in a corner. So it's like
<v Speaker 3>I never actually fucking learned a Bloodborne boss fight. You know,
<v Speaker 3>I just like, oh I beat the game. Haha, what
<v Speaker 3>a stinker. And it's like, no, I didn't, you know,
<v Speaker 3>like I want to actually do it now, you.
<v Speaker 5>Know, I'm I beat main game. I'm in the DC
<v Speaker 5>for that now. That game is fantastic and it is
<v Speaker 5>actually a counter game also, if you're if you're anchory
<v Speaker 5>for more, countering is very much about the as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and you can skip past all this story because
<v Speaker 1>that is like a moisturizer game.
<v Speaker 6>What does that mean again?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean I don't care. I don't think there's
<v Speaker 5>as much of a moisturizer game as like a Hoyo
<v Speaker 5>verse thing. But I know you sure.
<v Speaker 3>Speaking about words and video games these days, Yes, that
<v Speaker 3>one I invented.
<v Speaker 2>That's a company.
<v Speaker 1>No, I bet the Moisturizers Okay, yeah, the Majoya Verse,
<v Speaker 1>they just you know, lovingly ape other video games and
<v Speaker 1>then just turn it all into Goatcha's speaking about emulating
<v Speaker 1>and lovingly copying games.
<v Speaker 4>Gang.
<v Speaker 1>I have been playing a lot of po Copia, the
<v Speaker 1>newest Pokemon.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, as they said it on the stream recently, Poco
<v Speaker 2>Pia is one of the ways they tendo set it.
<v Speaker 4>They said it two different ways that was one of.
<v Speaker 2>Them, what what the hell is that?
<v Speaker 1>It's it's nothing, It's yes, I don't I don't have
<v Speaker 1>like a written review or anything, gang, but I think
<v Speaker 1>this may be one of my favorite Pokemon games.
<v Speaker 2>We're gonna we're gonna go hard on this. We're gonna
<v Speaker 2>find a bunch of wasted to like talk about it,
<v Speaker 2>cover it. Uh yeah, Mike, you're playing along day one
<v Speaker 2>stream on Friday evening.
<v Speaker 5>Still, yes, yes, totally day two. But yeah, I'm gonna
<v Speaker 5>being but it's day one for you, right because you're
<v Speaker 5>starting from the beginning yea.
<v Speaker 2>And then we'll have a multiplayer stream earlier in the
<v Speaker 2>day where we, like some of us who are will
<v Speaker 2>have spent some more time in the game. We'll actually
<v Speaker 2>get together and try that stuff out.
<v Speaker 5>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>The gang again, this is one of my favorite Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>games of recent memory. And uh again. I come to
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon with a very skewed perspective. I generally like the
<v Speaker 1>battling in the games rather than the like collect the thon,
<v Speaker 1>or like the the exploration, or like the stat heavy
<v Speaker 1>stat wise of like trying to hunt for shiny Pokemon.
<v Speaker 1>But with Pocopia, I think this fills me with the
<v Speaker 1>same type of joy that I had when I first
<v Speaker 1>picked up Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Evy, because that
<v Speaker 1>was one of the first games where you would just
<v Speaker 1>see the Pokemon out in the world doing their thing,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, to be fair, a lot of the
<v Speaker 1>there wasn't a lot of interaction. They would just spawn
<v Speaker 1>and like walk around the tall grass or flying Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>fly around the sky. But here, once you get the
<v Speaker 1>game rolling and you start developing your island, just seeing
<v Speaker 1>all like the different Pokemon happy and just interacting with
<v Speaker 1>each other, and then from there like, okay, cool, I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna go put this draffluon the balloon ghost Pokemon that
<v Speaker 1>is normally super lonely with all the other Pokemon, so
<v Speaker 1>it can have friends and talk to each other. For
<v Speaker 1>folks unaware, po Copia is very, very very similar to
<v Speaker 1>an animal crossing a Minecraft a Dragon Quest Builders, where
<v Speaker 1>it is it which one is.
<v Speaker 4>It closest to?
<v Speaker 2>Jan Like, is it closest to animal crossing? Starduo Valley Va.
<v Speaker 1>Actually Viva Pinata and Dragon Quest Builders is probably the
<v Speaker 1>best like combination of gowns. Kind of awesome it is
<v Speaker 1>because you're the whole flow of the game is you
<v Speaker 1>will get to an area, and then you'll have to
<v Speaker 1>create like a little environment, like a little like four
<v Speaker 1>by four five by five mini biome or habitat, and
<v Speaker 1>within that habitat, it attracts a pokemon of like okay,
<v Speaker 1>I have this uh two by two chunk of grass,
<v Speaker 1>and then you'll see that there are specific types of
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon that will spawn and be able to spawn in
<v Speaker 1>that two by two biome, and then like, oh shit,
<v Speaker 1>there's a Bulbasar here. Cool. Let me go talk to
<v Speaker 1>this Bulbasar and then from there it will be welcome
<v Speaker 1>into your little world. And then from there you work
<v Speaker 1>on improving Bulbosor's relationship not just with you, but with
<v Speaker 1>the other pokemon and like the overall environment. So like
<v Speaker 1>Bulbasoor wants a bed, I'll go craft a bed and
<v Speaker 1>then give it to Bulbasor and then Bulbasor will be happy.
<v Speaker 2>And are things interdependent where it's like once I have snorrelax,
<v Speaker 2>Now he can do something that will help me get
<v Speaker 2>another pokemon or is it all just kind of like
<v Speaker 2>here's the gathering stuff and then here's the attracting.
<v Speaker 1>Stuff kind of where you will need specific pokemon to
<v Speaker 1>like further advance, you're building abilities, like a certain Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>will have an ability that you'll need to go craft
<v Speaker 1>and build a building. Like the resource gathering isn't as
<v Speaker 1>intense as it would be in like a Minecraft, where
<v Speaker 1>it's like, gott to chop down all these trees, gotta
<v Speaker 1>get all this wood and then all this iron ingots.
<v Speaker 1>There is some light processing of materials, so you'll get
<v Speaker 1>a specific type of let's say logs, and then you'll
<v Speaker 1>give it to another Pokemon to process the logs and
<v Speaker 1>turn it into wood, so you have like those different
<v Speaker 1>crafting materials. But like going back to like the interactivity
<v Speaker 1>with all the different Pokemon, it's just like this is
<v Speaker 1>one of those games where I've been playing for ten
<v Speaker 1>plus hours and I can't stop smiling, not just because
<v Speaker 1>of how cute it is, but because it is just
<v Speaker 1>so fun and novel to see the different Pokemon interacting
<v Speaker 1>with each other. Like one of the early Pokemon you'll
<v Speaker 1>come across is a hit mone Chan, the boxing one, right,
<v Speaker 1>and like he'll be like hitting the speedbag and everything,
<v Speaker 1>and there will be other Pokemon just standing there watching
<v Speaker 1>him like Wow, that's cool, cool, oh sick, And it's
<v Speaker 1>very novel because it is the whole setup of the game.
<v Speaker 1>Is that what happened? Why is this land so desolate?
<v Speaker 1>Why is it a wasteland? Where are all the humans?
<v Speaker 1>How come there's no Pokemon here? Because you are playing
<v Speaker 1>the game as a Ditto, Right.
<v Speaker 4>You're not a person. You're a Ditto pretending to be
<v Speaker 4>a person.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you were a Diddo pretending to be a person.
<v Speaker 1>So because you have these like memories of your former
<v Speaker 1>trainer and you have these transformabilities, you were learning from
<v Speaker 1>these other Pokemon how to do things so you can help,
<v Speaker 1>uh uh improve the world around you. It's I'm not
<v Speaker 1>gonna lie the Ditto aspect of it. I don't necessarily
<v Speaker 1>like just because I don't like the implications of like
<v Speaker 1>Diddo kind of being this Kirby adjacent omnipotent power, right
<v Speaker 1>the thing?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I do like that.
<v Speaker 1>What what was that you cut out?
<v Speaker 5>Like that?
<v Speaker 1>Oh? Okay, because like I guess I got too excited
<v Speaker 1>for because like Diddo will like learn different abilities from
<v Speaker 1>the different pokemon of like, okay, cool, I guess Ditto's
<v Speaker 1>arms are now just and now Ditto it can just
<v Speaker 1>suck up everything with all these materials like Herbie can Jan.
<v Speaker 3>What percent of your enjoyment would you say comes from
<v Speaker 3>the fact that you have a fondness for Pokemon.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's like about fifty to fifty to be honest,
<v Speaker 1>because you know, I don't often play these games. Unfortunately.
<v Speaker 1>My biggest introduction and time spent with this, I guess
<v Speaker 1>overall genre of like farming and resource management games other
<v Speaker 1>than milv yes, other than my Craft is Disney Dream
<v Speaker 1>Light Valley. We don't need to get into why, hey,
<v Speaker 1>I enjoyed that game. It wasn't because of the Disney characters.
<v Speaker 1>It was yeah, but the carrot on the stick of like,
<v Speaker 1>oh cool, Like I want to improve this biome, I
<v Speaker 1>want to improve this place. Let me go, like kind
<v Speaker 1>of low key terrorform this part of the island, make
<v Speaker 1>it hospitable. Oh, let me go, make this easier for
<v Speaker 1>me to traverse, and in turn of me improving the
<v Speaker 1>island so it's easier for me to get back and
<v Speaker 1>forth from point A to point B. This also helps
<v Speaker 1>everyone on the island, like all the different Pokemon get
<v Speaker 1>back and forth, because sometimes they need to do specific
<v Speaker 1>things to help me continue building up on the island,
<v Speaker 1>and it just it does the management really well of
<v Speaker 1>like here's a big list of the things you gotta do,
<v Speaker 1>and then it doesn't feel insurmountable to like be ticking
<v Speaker 1>these things off the list, and if you need the
<v Speaker 1>busy work in between, like waiting for bigger objectives or
<v Speaker 1>other things to unlock or happen, it doesn't feel like
<v Speaker 1>monotonous busy work where it feels like I just.
<v Speaker 5>Can get to thank you, where it feels like, oh,
<v Speaker 5>this is a slog.
<v Speaker 1>Why do I have to go collect these things? Because
<v Speaker 1>in turn of collecting those things, you're like getting money
<v Speaker 1>for collecting those things, or there will be like a
<v Speaker 1>different discovery along the way, and like the whole Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>wrappings around it is more pleasant for me. But from
<v Speaker 1>my understanding, like some of this was kind of present
<v Speaker 1>in dragon Quest Builders, and a lot of folks really
<v Speaker 1>enjoy Dragon Quest Builders.
<v Speaker 3>There is there a world where it's like if I
<v Speaker 3>like Stardo and I like Animal Crossing, and I just
<v Speaker 3>I'm not anti Pokemon, it's just I've never cared about it, Like,
<v Speaker 3>is there a world where you know, would I enjoy this?
<v Speaker 1>I think so, Dan, because I from my memory, like
<v Speaker 1>you you really enjoyed Stardoo Valley. I don't think the
<v Speaker 1>systems are as like developed in as deep as Stardo Valley,
<v Speaker 1>but there's enough building like farming, growing things, and like
<v Speaker 1>like the different little activities to like stimulate and get
<v Speaker 1>those endorphins going of accomplishing things of like oh cool,
<v Speaker 1>like this is great, And they don't lean too much
<v Speaker 1>into the Pokemon aspect of it, where it's like you
<v Speaker 1>need to know this deep lore about Squirtle, but like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>just through osmosis, like okay, that one has fire on it,
<v Speaker 1>but one with fire can help me start a campfire,
<v Speaker 1>light a candle, just stuff like that, And yeah, it
<v Speaker 1>does a very good job at playing with even just
<v Speaker 1>like oh okay, this Pokemon looks like they can help
<v Speaker 1>me with this. Oh you can help me with this,
<v Speaker 1>And it does a good job at like that on
<v Speaker 1>ramp and not expecting too much knowledge of the player,
<v Speaker 1>like if the gimmicks Grubb, since I know you've mentioned
<v Speaker 1>that one of them is starting to get into Pokemon,
<v Speaker 1>I think this would be a fantastic way to like
<v Speaker 1>introduce them into the overall world.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's the plan. We're going to be playing a
<v Speaker 4>ton of bit. I'm looking forward to it.
<v Speaker 2>I really I'm getting this sense this game is going
<v Speaker 2>to be huge, like you think it's going to, Like
<v Speaker 2>obviously it doesn't even need to break out of the
<v Speaker 2>Pokemon sphere, but or the very least, could it bring
<v Speaker 2>back a lot of people like you who are have
<v Speaker 2>been on the fence about Pokemon maybe a little bit
<v Speaker 2>sort of have a broken relationship with the series. Is
<v Speaker 2>this something that you think will make those people happy?
<v Speaker 1>I think so. I think this also capture like the
<v Speaker 1>lapsed Animal Crossing casual audience that like got really even the.
<v Speaker 2>Non laps, the people who are playing that every day,
<v Speaker 2>maybe this is something they can like, Okay, finally something different.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And you know, I have friends that have like
<v Speaker 1>gone from Animal Crossing to Hello, Kitty Island Adventure. And
<v Speaker 1>I think because Pokemon is such a gigantic ip, this
<v Speaker 1>will attract a bunch of people. And I think it's
<v Speaker 1>just like a pleasant enough experience that isn't trying to
<v Speaker 1>do too much, and what it is doing it's doing
<v Speaker 1>very well that it's like not I don't anticipate this
<v Speaker 1>pissing anyone off. And you know on Metacritic, not that
<v Speaker 1>we should base a bunch of things off of Metacritic,
<v Speaker 1>but it's like one of the highest rated Pokemon games,
<v Speaker 1>if not the it's.
<v Speaker 2>It's the highest Pokemon rated Pokemon game. And then spending
<v Speaker 2>on what you look at Metacritic, it's the highest rated
<v Speaker 2>game of the year so far, and then open critic
<v Speaker 2>it's second, just behind Requiem.
<v Speaker 1>That's that's crazy. But like I, you know, I fully agree.
<v Speaker 1>Like there's a bunch of reviews out there from other
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon fanatics and I pretty much echo similar sentiments, if
<v Speaker 1>not the same. I haven't gotten the chance to check
<v Speaker 1>out the multiplayer, and from my understanding, it is greb.
<v Speaker 1>I've heard you describe this where it is kind of
<v Speaker 1>like that Minecraft style where you are hosting a server
<v Speaker 1>or your island for other people to be able to
<v Speaker 1>just jump in, not like the Animal Crossing style where
<v Speaker 1>you have to like sync up with your friends have
<v Speaker 1>your island open in that online mode and they're barely
<v Speaker 1>being in any interaction. From my understanding, you can cooperatively,
<v Speaker 1>cooperatively build up and a lot throughout your islands.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's kind of like it's kind of how I
<v Speaker 2>want to approach it, where it's like we'll get one
<v Speaker 2>of these spun up and we'll get whoever can get
<v Speaker 2>in on Friday, and then if we have fun, maybe
<v Speaker 2>check back in a week later and see like what
<v Speaker 2>we've done, and kind of keep stick with this game
<v Speaker 2>for a little bit, because yeah, I'm very curious.
<v Speaker 4>Again, I don't know if this makes sense to me.
<v Speaker 2>I keep going this could be this year's Clare And
<v Speaker 2>I just mean, like that comes out early and just
<v Speaker 2>captures people for the rest of the year and blows
<v Speaker 2>up even more than it was than was expected.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And I think you know, I on this website
<v Speaker 1>across podcast streams have expressed my frustrations with the mainline
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon games and how I feel it's just behind on
<v Speaker 1>a lot of tech, like the lack of voiceover and everything,
<v Speaker 1>or just like graphically performance wise, it's like kind of
<v Speaker 1>poop in the bed. This is just further proof that
<v Speaker 1>I want the Pokemon Company.
<v Speaker 5>For as greedy as they are, because they'd be making.
<v Speaker 1>Millions, continue outsourcing, giving the Pokemon IP to other game
<v Speaker 1>studios because I want to see what others will do
<v Speaker 1>with it, like continue experimenting, because it's like this is
<v Speaker 1>a successful one. And like you said, Greb, like your predictions.
<v Speaker 1>I think this game will blow up because it's it's
<v Speaker 1>like at a the barrier of entry is not too
<v Speaker 1>high where this could appeal to like the Sikos out
<v Speaker 1>there that want to do all the type of mid
<v Speaker 1>max and terraforming, or just like the casual type of
<v Speaker 1>person that wants to check in and like, oh cool,
<v Speaker 1>sick that bell sprout is there? I fuck with that
<v Speaker 1>bell sprout. But yeah, Pacopeia, I'm I'm having a fantastic
<v Speaker 1>time with it. I excited to see Mikey dip into
<v Speaker 1>it on Friday and see something. You'll check it out
<v Speaker 1>on Friday as well.
<v Speaker 5>And boy, what a what a couple of weeks for
<v Speaker 5>your fantasy critic. You had Resie wreck wam. Yeah for real,
<v Speaker 5>you had that Scott Pilgrim game that ended up. It's
<v Speaker 5>got like an eighty three right now. That's good.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, counterpicks that kind of hoping it would like
<v Speaker 2>get like maybe low eighties, because I don't think we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna have a lot of good choices for our second counterpicks,
<v Speaker 2>so I'm like, I'm just gonna panic and pick this
<v Speaker 2>and it's like, oh, that was a little bit more
<v Speaker 2>painful than I thought.
<v Speaker 4>It would be so.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, and you're hurt a little bit by Pokemon
<v Speaker 5>Win the Ways being announced for next year, but you
<v Speaker 5>could recover from that.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, you can drop that for free now that we
<v Speaker 2>know it's go next year. Jane, last question about this,
<v Speaker 2>what is the sort of bell curve for the representation
<v Speaker 2>of Pokemon. Is it like, oh, it's a lot of
<v Speaker 2>earlier Pokemon because we know what sells, or is it
<v Speaker 2>like an even spread across all nine generation.
<v Speaker 1>Just by virtue of the sheer amount of Pokemon. I
<v Speaker 1>don't think it has all one thousand Pokemon. Yeah right, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>seems unlikely there they're going to start you with like
<v Speaker 1>the original one P fifty and like a lot of
<v Speaker 1>those big players just because of like familiarity steak. I'm
<v Speaker 1>under the assumption, based off of like some of the
<v Speaker 1>trailers that I've seen, that there will there. I think
<v Speaker 1>they're just going to do the greatest hits in like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>this is the popular Pokemon from this generation, this is
<v Speaker 1>the popular Pokemon from that generation. We don't need the
<v Speaker 1>twelve other birds that we have across this or like
<v Speaker 1>any of the other miscellaneous dogs. Let's just lean on
<v Speaker 1>these starters here. These popular like meme Pokemon and everything
<v Speaker 1>like that. God, it's just it's just such a pleasant time. Also,
<v Speaker 1>I just can't get over that the player character being
<v Speaker 1>a ditto and it's just like dead funk Coo pop
<v Speaker 1>style eyes just staring at you. Hell yeah, it's just
<v Speaker 1>fucked up. And I didn't even think about Dan that
<v Speaker 1>this is kind of like the thing.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, that's I thought of. Yeah, or it's just like
<v Speaker 6>a thing they can morph and be whatever.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, what do I think I should think of the thing? First?
<v Speaker 2>I think I would think of pod people, but that's
<v Speaker 2>not exactly the same.
<v Speaker 4>It's much more like the thing.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I've been playing for Pokemon too long that I
<v Speaker 5>would think of diddo.
<v Speaker 1>Uh speaking, you know, Mike, you were talking about Fantasy
<v Speaker 1>Critic and we're talking about some inside baseball. I hope
<v Speaker 1>there's no insider trading happening with Fantasy Critic, but there
<v Speaker 1>is some happening.
<v Speaker 5>With Jeff Crubb. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>So if I said I was playing a game called
<v Speaker 2>insider Trading, and you guys had to pick a recent
<v Speaker 2>popular game that it was going to be most like,
<v Speaker 2>what what do you think it is?
<v Speaker 6>Venture Capitalist?
<v Speaker 1>Uma? Musume?
<v Speaker 2>No papers, please, no, it's blatro them. So okay, I'll
<v Speaker 2>try to explain that I played a little bit. I
<v Speaker 2>think I have a pretty good grasp on it now,
<v Speaker 2>although I feel like the systems could get more complicated.
<v Speaker 2>You are insider trading, and every day is a day
<v Speaker 2>on the stock market, and basically there's a goal and
<v Speaker 2>then there's how much money you have, and the goal
<v Speaker 2>is like you know, the anti or whatever it was
<v Speaker 2>called in bolotro, and you can get to that goal
<v Speaker 2>by like, let's see, if a thousand dollars, you can
<v Speaker 2>get to one three hundred dollars by looking at your
<v Speaker 2>cards that get dealt to you from your deck that
<v Speaker 2>you can add more cards to over time. And if
<v Speaker 2>there's like a lot of green cards versus a lot
<v Speaker 2>of red cards and these are like bulls versus bears,
<v Speaker 2>the stock price will go up. And what you want
<v Speaker 2>to do is on a day where you have a
<v Speaker 2>lot of green cards and you can like look at
<v Speaker 2>the cards and rearrange them and then they happen in order,
<v Speaker 2>so you could kind of just set up these combos
<v Speaker 2>or whatever on a day where you could tell the
<v Speaker 2>stock price is going to go up, you want to
<v Speaker 2>trade and then there's days where you're gonna get a
<v Speaker 2>lot more red cards than green cards, or you might
<v Speaker 2>get an even split, and you have to make a
<v Speaker 2>choice to I want to go one way or the
<v Speaker 2>other and kind of use these tokens. I have to
<v Speaker 2>either arrange these things in such a way that it'll
<v Speaker 2>be a little bit positive or a little bit negative,
<v Speaker 2>or maybe drop some cards. But if it's a red
<v Speaker 2>card day, you're gonna want to wait. And then you
<v Speaker 2>can add more tokens, which gives you more options to
<v Speaker 2>do more moves in future turns. And the idea is
<v Speaker 2>just kind of going back and forth between these two
<v Speaker 2>things so that you can just barely get above the
<v Speaker 2>target goal while keeping as many tokens as possible to
<v Speaker 2>give you more opportunities to have more maneuvers on future days.
<v Speaker 2>And then each after each round, you get an option
<v Speaker 2>to go to the store and you can use these tokens.
<v Speaker 2>Some of these tokens the same tokens you use to
<v Speaker 2>make maneuvers during the day, so you don't want to
<v Speaker 2>spend all of them. You use these tokens to buy
<v Speaker 2>new cards, and you have to pick like one green one,
<v Speaker 2>one red one, and then you can get like pills
<v Speaker 2>because you're an insider trader and obviously they're all on drugs,
<v Speaker 2>and these pills act like the you know, the bonus
<v Speaker 2>cards or whatever in Blatro, where it's like, oh, this
<v Speaker 2>is gonna have either a permanent effect or it's gonna
<v Speaker 2>have a one turn effect. All of it's very familiar.
<v Speaker 2>I think the sort of setup here is like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>if this is appealing to you, it's the exact sort
<v Speaker 2>of Nasdaq. Oh there's the money going up line versus
<v Speaker 2>there's the red line coming down. It shows you how
<v Speaker 2>much it dropped each day. And you know, if that's
<v Speaker 2>appealing to you. And if it's like, okay, can you
<v Speaker 2>imagine imagine a fun Bilatro sort of game on top
<v Speaker 2>of that.
<v Speaker 4>Well they did that. They made that. That's what this is.
<v Speaker 2>And I could tell it's like, oh, it's just gonna
<v Speaker 2>keep getting deeper, even and despite the fact that I
<v Speaker 2>haven't gotten to all those deeper elements yet, still early
<v Speaker 2>on it's like, Oh, I get it, this is fun.
<v Speaker 2>I want to do one more turn. So it's kind
<v Speaker 2>of delivering on its promise right away. Is it as
<v Speaker 2>refined as much of a miracle as Bilatro and some
<v Speaker 2>of its better clones have felt like not necessary, but
<v Speaker 2>it's right there and it's using all of those elements
<v Speaker 2>to good effect at the very least.
<v Speaker 3>Now, let me ask, it's like I was obsessed with
<v Speaker 3>Balatro and everything you're saying like I am, Like when
<v Speaker 3>I look at like my stocks and stuff, you know,
<v Speaker 3>green line up right, like, I'm obsessed over that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>So like this game offying that sounds fun? Would you
<v Speaker 3>say there is more going on than to like on paper?
<v Speaker 3>I also thought I was gonna like the what was
<v Speaker 3>the fucking game?
<v Speaker 4>I had the slot machine.
<v Speaker 6>I always forget the name of it room.
<v Speaker 1>Boom shot buckshot.
<v Speaker 3>That it was the clover Pit. Clover yes, clover Pit.
<v Speaker 3>I thought that was gonna be great. I loved everything
<v Speaker 3>with the look of it, and it's a very blotro
<v Speaker 3>but slot machines. But I feel like and when it
<v Speaker 3>came down to it, there was just not enough. It
<v Speaker 3>was too chancey versus like I felt like I had
<v Speaker 3>there I could do in Blatro, like where does this
<v Speaker 3>fall on.
<v Speaker 2>That speci So so I think when you're as the
<v Speaker 2>cards get laid out in front of you, it does
<v Speaker 2>feel like Okay, that sort.
<v Speaker 4>Of defined what kind of day it was gonna be.
<v Speaker 2>The reason I think that this could still work for
<v Speaker 2>you because it's working for me, is like, well, okay,
<v Speaker 2>once you know what kind of day it's going to be,
<v Speaker 2>it's not like, well that's chance.
<v Speaker 4>It's all decided. Now.
<v Speaker 2>It comes down to maximizing your return during during that
<v Speaker 2>that turn. So like on a red day, when you
<v Speaker 2>can tell okay, I have a lot of red cards,
<v Speaker 2>there's a few green cards here shirt, so it's gonna
<v Speaker 2>go up a little bit. How can I arrange it
<v Speaker 2>so that, like, let's say the I want the price
<v Speaker 2>to drop as much as possible on the first day.
<v Speaker 2>So if I have a minus a certain percentage, I
<v Speaker 2>want to put that up in the front because that
<v Speaker 2>will give me the biggest chunk of that That percentage
<v Speaker 2>will have the biggest effect while the stock prices is
<v Speaker 2>the highest. And it's like, oh, if I can get
<v Speaker 2>that stock price below one hundred, this card will activate,
<v Speaker 2>and it will it will it will get a permanent
<v Speaker 2>bonus and it'll be my deck forever. So it's like, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>I know what kind of day it's going to be.
<v Speaker 2>Now I have a bunch of choices I can make
<v Speaker 2>about how to maximize my return on this day. And
<v Speaker 2>to me, it's like, ooh, that's I mean, that's what
<v Speaker 2>these games are. All these games, most games these days
<v Speaker 2>are these compound, compound interest games where it's like you
<v Speaker 2>get resources, use those you spend those resources or that
<v Speaker 2>capital to get more resources, so the next turn that you, like,
<v Speaker 2>I have those same resources and the new resources, I
<v Speaker 2>can do even more the next day. And this is
<v Speaker 2>like definitely playing on that feeling and already sort of
<v Speaker 2>got me on board with it in its first turn.
<v Speaker 2>So I'm like, Okay, I think it might work.
<v Speaker 3>Man, I really I like steaks, and so I wish
<v Speaker 3>you could like tie something like this to like your
<v Speaker 3>bank account, you.
<v Speaker 5>Know, only.
<v Speaker 2>Stocks were real. Yeah yeah, well I.
<v Speaker 3>Do that too, but I wanted to be more game
<v Speaker 3>apply it. I just kind of and we'll see if
<v Speaker 3>it goes up or down.
<v Speaker 2>I bet there are platforms like that where it's like
<v Speaker 2>faux gambling or full.
<v Speaker 4>It's like, sure you could put like one.
<v Speaker 2>Hundred dollars in there and pretend like it's one hundred
<v Speaker 2>thousand dollars or something like that.
<v Speaker 4>I bet there's stuff like that.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, this is working for me. It works on
<v Speaker 2>steam Deck. Although you have to use the touchpad to
<v Speaker 2>navigate with a mouse, that works just fine. I was
<v Speaker 2>using able to read everything on there. You know, it's
<v Speaker 2>not as trippy as Bilatro, It's not as immediately appealing,
<v Speaker 2>and you could tell it's like this is a game
<v Speaker 2>that was made by people looking at and being like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I can copy one of those, and yeah, as far
<v Speaker 2>as that goes, this is a good one at least
<v Speaker 2>so far.
<v Speaker 1>Nice well, speaking about the horrors of investment in banking
<v Speaker 1>and insider trading, we move on to actual horrors, but
<v Speaker 1>before we get to Resident Evil requiem. See someone put
<v Speaker 1>on the list here Resident Evil one.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I been thinking about residevil a lot lately, very
<v Speaker 3>in a resident evil mood, you know, not by coincidence,
<v Speaker 3>And I realized I owned Residon Evil one back in
<v Speaker 3>the day and I was fascinated by it. I would
<v Speaker 3>have been like twelve years old, and like you just
<v Speaker 3>I've said it before, but like I never beat the
<v Speaker 3>game because I just couldn't get past the idea of like, well,
<v Speaker 3>there's bad guys, I got to kill them, and like,
<v Speaker 3>I didn't think about it all. I can go around
<v Speaker 3>things and resource management and like the adventure game elements
<v Speaker 3>and stuff like. I thought it was so fucking cool,
<v Speaker 3>like kind of the movie like nature of it. And
<v Speaker 3>I even like the tank controls. I like just the
<v Speaker 3>cinematic quality, like all the different angles and all that.
<v Speaker 3>Like I like both versions of ARI. I like tank
<v Speaker 3>control and I like over the shoulder ARI four style.
<v Speaker 3>But I just could never I never beat one, two,
<v Speaker 3>or three the original games, and so I was like,
<v Speaker 3>maybe now it's like, you know, like that clicks with
<v Speaker 3>me more. Now I understand more kind of what I
<v Speaker 3>would need to do. So I played it on the
<v Speaker 3>Ayn Thor and I started it that way, and I
<v Speaker 3>was playing it and it was good and like you know,
<v Speaker 3>you can do little hot keys to speed up the
<v Speaker 3>door opening animations and stuff like that, and then I
<v Speaker 3>started getting funky with it where it's like, oh, I
<v Speaker 3>wonder I've never actually docked my Thor and like you know,
<v Speaker 3>played on a big screen. So I hooked my Thor
<v Speaker 3>up to the one hundred inch and then it's like,
<v Speaker 3>oh wow, already won on a big one hundred inch
<v Speaker 3>And I got a Bluetooth dual sense I'm playing with
<v Speaker 3>and stuff, and I was like, wait, I want this
<v Speaker 3>to be more authentic. And so then I hook it
<v Speaker 3>up through the retro tank four k onto the one
<v Speaker 3>hundred inch through a thoor and I'm like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I remember. I was like taking pictures of it and
<v Speaker 3>like Tim Turrey, you know, a good friend of mine,
<v Speaker 3>like the biggest resident evil stick. Oh, I know, I'm
<v Speaker 3>sending in pictures of it and studding like look at this.
<v Speaker 3>Oh got the proper scand lines and everything.
<v Speaker 1>This is great.
<v Speaker 3>It's like, Dan, you have multiple CRTs and PlayStations and
<v Speaker 3>I know you have the game and like.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but that's not as fun.
<v Speaker 3>Well, but the thing is so he said that, and
<v Speaker 3>it's like, oh, whatever, Tim, then I'm gonna go back
<v Speaker 3>to playing on my one hundred inch and uh then
<v Speaker 3>I borked the save stuff somehow where it's like I
<v Speaker 3>was doing a combination of in game ink ribbons and
<v Speaker 3>quick saves and I don't know exactly what I did,
<v Speaker 3>but like I got to a point where I like
<v Speaker 3>loaded it up for the night and I'm like, wait,
<v Speaker 3>why do I still have this my inventory? I use
<v Speaker 3>this thing like this key in the courtyard or something
<v Speaker 3>like that, and I was like, wait, what the fuck.
<v Speaker 3>I'm like trying to load from the inc ribbon. I'm
<v Speaker 3>trying to load all my save stags and like everything's
<v Speaker 3>fucked somehow. It's like, oh, motherfucker, and like I didn't
<v Speaker 3>want to keep going, but I was in the mood
<v Speaker 3>for it and I was really enjoying it. So I
<v Speaker 3>just started playing on my CRT on my original like
<v Speaker 3>it's through the mister, but I'm playing with the actual
<v Speaker 3>PlayStation one controller a CRT and it's like I'm sitting
<v Speaker 3>in a fucking bean bag in my game room with
<v Speaker 3>the lights off, playing with the PlayStation thriller and it's
<v Speaker 3>like I do, like this bag sounds.
<v Speaker 5>Great game, It's still fun. Actually, res a good time.
<v Speaker 5>Are you doing Jill or Chris?
<v Speaker 3>Always Jill, I've never like I think I picked Chris
<v Speaker 3>the first time and I was like I can't hold anything,
<v Speaker 3>and I think Jill and these two more spaces change
<v Speaker 3>Everything's like I cannot imagine playing that game is Chris.
<v Speaker 5>I can't I have the same way like something I
<v Speaker 5>would to just I guess for the challenge of it.
<v Speaker 5>But Jill, Jill has Barry, and we all love Bearry.
<v Speaker 1>Oh we love Barry.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Like I can tell you like I like going
<v Speaker 3>through the dialogue and stuff. I just know that hope
<v Speaker 3>this is not Chris's blood and all this stuff I've
<v Speaker 3>heard a million times.
<v Speaker 6>I don't even know what the fuck they talk about.
<v Speaker 2>If you're Chris Chambers, is there from resiuel Zero?
<v Speaker 5>I guess that's wild.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's the thing in the opening, like the real
<v Speaker 3>FMB montage thing where they show the actress and stuff
<v Speaker 3>like I don't know who that person is and didn't
<v Speaker 3>really play zero, and it's like, what the fuck is
<v Speaker 3>Rebecca Chambers.
<v Speaker 6>There's this a whole side story. I don't know at
<v Speaker 6>all of that.
<v Speaker 3>Game, but I am enjoying it. I'm back up to
<v Speaker 3>I just beat the snake. I was past it. I was,
<v Speaker 3>I was going through the courtyard and all that stuff
<v Speaker 3>on the thoor, So I'm kind of catching back up
<v Speaker 3>to that and everything, Like I'm put I need to
<v Speaker 3>get the chemicals for the plant and all that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah we know, uh yeah uh Caylea told us all about
<v Speaker 2>all this. Yeah check out that YouTube short.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, yeah, I really went deep on all that.
<v Speaker 4>She went deep on every aspect. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I think the bird that didn't make it into the
<v Speaker 3>cut that I loved was when she was trying to
<v Speaker 3>describe her Asnevil too, and she's like, yeah, you could
<v Speaker 3>be leon Or. And then there's like other Jill.
<v Speaker 5>Ye name one hundred women.
<v Speaker 1>Kayla, maybe we should put out the full uncut on premium.
<v Speaker 4>Oh that's a good idea. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>It was one take. I mean she said us an
<v Speaker 3>eight or nine minute one take, and Will just had
<v Speaker 3>to like chop it up into three minutes.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, oh god, I should I lost my ship with
<v Speaker 1>the door door another door, I mean.
<v Speaker 5>Spain Town, USA is going to be my vocabulary streak
<v Speaker 5>started like it started in the sixties, Like, no.
<v Speaker 6>Right there, ted her, and she was like, I really
<v Speaker 6>thought it was in the sixties.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I was dead set, like no, it's a nineties game.
<v Speaker 1>And then when we watched him, like wait is it?
<v Speaker 4>No? It's not.
<v Speaker 1>All right? Well, I suggest if you haven't seen that,
<v Speaker 1>folks at home, you go suggest the video that Will
<v Speaker 1>cut together. That is Kayla explaining the lore of Resident
<v Speaker 1>Evil to get you up to speed to modern day
<v Speaker 1>because all of us have been playing Resident Evil requiem.
<v Speaker 5>Have we all been.
<v Speaker 1>Night? Okay?
<v Speaker 6>You beat it?
<v Speaker 4>It fucked me up? Was it?
<v Speaker 6>Yesterday?
<v Speaker 3>In a meeting or something where we were talking about like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>should we talk about it again on the BombCast now
<v Speaker 3>that Mike's been playing it? And I think Greb you
<v Speaker 3>were like, we have not talked about on the BombCast,
<v Speaker 3>Like holy shit, I feel like the last two weeks
<v Speaker 3>it's all I've been talking.
<v Speaker 6>About with anyone.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Like we originally beat it two weekends ago because
<v Speaker 2>we couldn't stop playing it as soon as we got it,
<v Speaker 2>and it's like, oh, yeah, I can't wait to talk
<v Speaker 2>about it on the next BombCast, like we can't.
<v Speaker 3>And then the barber lifted after the last day after
<v Speaker 3>right yeah, after Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>Wow, Wow, okay, Twitch, it's fine, it's fine. YouTube is
<v Speaker 1>still going.
<v Speaker 2>We've we've so we have talked about it in a
<v Speaker 2>lot of places, but uh yeah, we've all now beaten
<v Speaker 2>it and I continue to play.
<v Speaker 4>It, so I have.
<v Speaker 2>I beat it right away, started up with the classic
<v Speaker 2>save right after that, then got like halfway through and
<v Speaker 2>I was kind of like trying to run rush through
<v Speaker 2>as quickly as possible, and I screwed myself with like
<v Speaker 2>I say, like no Ammo on the run to go
<v Speaker 2>take the person to the thing, and it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not gonna be able to survive this. There's just
<v Speaker 2>no way I'm getting through this gauntlet. So I was like,
<v Speaker 2>I'll put that down, I'll come back, And then I
<v Speaker 2>started on PC played through half of it again, and
<v Speaker 2>now I've also played through it halfway again on the
<v Speaker 2>Switch to again go geez, can't stop.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>So my question is like, I've always found them very
<v Speaker 3>replayable because they're so good at like, Okay, here's these
<v Speaker 3>outfits and here's these guns, and here's the unlockables and stuff,
<v Speaker 3>and so I guess you have not done any of that.
<v Speaker 3>You're just playing on different consoles and stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Right, Well, I've done a little like so I've done
<v Speaker 2>a little bit game plus on Switch where it's like, okay.
<v Speaker 2>So one of the cool things they do is halfway
<v Speaker 2>through the game shifts perspective kind of in a in
<v Speaker 2>a more permanent way, from Grace to Leon, and Leon's
<v Speaker 2>the much more action focused gameplay, and he gets the
<v Speaker 2>bracelet where every time you kill a zombie you get money,
<v Speaker 2>and then you can use that money upgrade your weapons. Fantastic,
<v Speaker 2>What a good ideas.
<v Speaker 3>Could not be a more telling thing that the tone
<v Speaker 3>is going to shift when you're just like, oh.
<v Speaker 6>God, oh hey, here's a bracelets.
<v Speaker 2>And it's like everything every choice they make with Leon
<v Speaker 2>versus Grace is screaming, this is a very different game.
<v Speaker 2>You should play it very differently. But that's like Seals
<v Speaker 2>the Deal. You get that bracelet minute one in the
<v Speaker 2>new game plus, so you're no, no as Leon's so
<v Speaker 2>anytime you're as Leon now and they put those little
<v Speaker 2>the chests around that sell you the stuff now, those
<v Speaker 2>are spread throughout like the Chronic Care.
<v Speaker 4>Center and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 2>So any moment you get to play as Leon, you're like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>as Grace, I might try to save a bunch of
<v Speaker 2>these zombies for Leon to kill because he's gonna get
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of money now. And it's like, yeah, another
<v Speaker 2>new fun way to think about the game that I've
<v Speaker 2>already played a bunch of times.
<v Speaker 1>They're so good at that.
<v Speaker 3>I remember like beating seven and immediately like I think
<v Speaker 3>there was like a choice in seven you could make
<v Speaker 3>that was like this or that, and so I was like, well,
<v Speaker 3>I got to see the other way. But they're just
<v Speaker 3>so immediately replayable, and it's one of those things where
<v Speaker 3>it's like after you've played it, hell, I'm seeing that
<v Speaker 3>now when already won, because now I have to go
<v Speaker 3>back through the mansion after beating it on the thoor,
<v Speaker 3>and it's like, okay, well now you can just really
<v Speaker 3>kind of speed through it and stuff, and it's super satisfying.
<v Speaker 1>It's great.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, And they're like moments where like, you know, I
<v Speaker 5>was like, Okay, I'm going to clean this place up
<v Speaker 5>as Leon, and then Grace is gonna be able to
<v Speaker 5>go back in and get all this stuff. But it's
<v Speaker 5>like I don't have to do that, and I could
<v Speaker 5>really speed things up maybe and I could probably still
<v Speaker 5>get by fine.
<v Speaker 2>You played in a crazy way, yeah, because you like
<v Speaker 2>got like so like it's not out order.
<v Speaker 4>It was. It was actually super cool to see.
<v Speaker 1>That's right.
<v Speaker 4>You got the firs.
<v Speaker 2>Basically there's these three things you got to get in
<v Speaker 2>the Chronic Care Center, the one that everyone gets first.
<v Speaker 4>You got last.
<v Speaker 2>You started to clean up after you played his Leon,
<v Speaker 2>so you got to go around as Leon and basically
<v Speaker 2>just like clear this place out for her, so now
<v Speaker 2>she has a much more like easy time to like
<v Speaker 2>look around and stuff.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>He the pencil, Uh, I.
<v Speaker 2>Did not put the pencil puzzle together, so he picked
<v Speaker 2>up the piece of paper where you're supposed to come
<v Speaker 2>scrape that.
<v Speaker 4>He saw the beginning of the letter M, and he goes.
<v Speaker 2>Again, and he played for hours and hours they penciled
<v Speaker 2>back at his chest.
<v Speaker 4>It was great, amazing and to.
<v Speaker 2>The point where it's like there's a second room where
<v Speaker 2>they just show you the answer that puzzle. I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>you just looked at that, and now you got the
<v Speaker 2>answer there. But of course then it was hours before
<v Speaker 2>he got back, so he had forgotten about that.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah. Yeah, it was just busy running around. Boy, very
<v Speaker 5>very very good video game. Yes, so fretty fun. Uh
<v Speaker 5>what what surprised me is that as much you know,
<v Speaker 5>I'm such a Brezie before remake guy, right, like that's
<v Speaker 5>my favorite residual game. And yet as great as all
<v Speaker 5>the lean stuff here is, I do think that the
<v Speaker 5>gray stuff is the best part of the game. Like
<v Speaker 5>that big chap Yeah, Like the big one chapter in
<v Speaker 5>the clinic was like so classic Resident Evil. It obviously
<v Speaker 5>felt very Resideval two with this big place of like
<v Speaker 5>an east wing and a west wing. You're kind of
<v Speaker 5>jumping back and forth, like you know, the whole game
<v Speaker 5>is very good, but like that section, especially is it's
<v Speaker 5>certainly the best I think even the first person Resident
<v Speaker 5>Evils have ever felt.
<v Speaker 6>It's because it's like that is.
<v Speaker 3>I don't even want to call it a complaint, because
<v Speaker 3>the whole game is great, but it's like I want
<v Speaker 3>kind of a whole ten to twelve hour game just
<v Speaker 3>as Grace in a big interconnected area like a classic
<v Speaker 3>Resident Evil. Like I think that would be even better
<v Speaker 3>than how great this game is, you know, I yeah, I.
<v Speaker 2>Really like the feeling of wanting more from both these sides.
<v Speaker 2>So it's like I'm like, I kind of trust that
<v Speaker 2>what they did here was maybe best for this game,
<v Speaker 2>but just that you're right, I can imagine that it's like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I want more of these things. So it's like, no
<v Speaker 2>matter what they do in the future with this like
<v Speaker 2>two pronged approach, if they kind of keep doing a
<v Speaker 2>two pronged approach or give me more of one or
<v Speaker 2>more of the other, I'm probably gonna be pretty happy
<v Speaker 2>no matter what. I'll have my preference, which at this
<v Speaker 2>point is the great stuff. But it's like, oh, this
<v Speaker 2>just sets them up for a future where all this
<v Speaker 2>stuff is great. They're you know, the one common complaint
<v Speaker 2>people have about this game right now, is it's too short?
<v Speaker 2>Like oh the dollar per hour, that's all of them.
<v Speaker 2>Would I would not add a bunch of hours on
<v Speaker 2>top of this game make it more valuable. And replaying
<v Speaker 2>it has been like, oh, this is great, and I
<v Speaker 2>kind of hope more because I'm not a guy who
<v Speaker 2>immediately starts replaying games usually most games, I do not
<v Speaker 2>do that. For it's something about Resident Evil. It's really
<v Speaker 2>good at it, and that's where you're gonna get a
<v Speaker 2>lot of the value.
<v Speaker 1>Nor would I want them to artificially like stretch out
<v Speaker 1>the game because I feel like it's it's paced so
<v Speaker 1>well where like you are, that's the priority.
<v Speaker 3>Here's where you do enough as a grace, all right, Capcom.
<v Speaker 3>Here's what you do going forward to get yourself an
<v Speaker 3>Infinity Ward and a tray Arch. Okay, and yeah, so
<v Speaker 3>what we're gonna do going forward?
<v Speaker 6>And everyone's happy.
<v Speaker 5>And I do think like the whole ten hours thing,
<v Speaker 5>like that's the end game counter thing for a lot
<v Speaker 5>of people. I don't know, Like my Steam play time
<v Speaker 5>is like sixteen point four four hours, which is pretty
<v Speaker 5>beefy to me. And then yeah, when it it took
<v Speaker 5>you ten hours because you know, it's not factoring in
<v Speaker 5>reloading reloadings exactly. And you know, I'm a big boy,
<v Speaker 5>so I played with the ink ribbons on of course,
<v Speaker 5>so there's a lot of maybe lost progress. Yeah I
<v Speaker 5>don't wow, Yeah, I know I'm very impressive and manly. Uh,
<v Speaker 5>but I mean that was fun. I think you get
<v Speaker 5>enough of them early on. It's like law rasum agains
<v Speaker 5>early on that's a pain point. Then by the end
<v Speaker 5>you're using so much blood to make ink ribbons that
<v Speaker 5>you're completely fine.
<v Speaker 2>Actually yeah, it kind of. It really doesn't change the
<v Speaker 2>game all that much because you could just make so
<v Speaker 2>many of those.
<v Speaker 3>I am surprised that people are upset about the length,
<v Speaker 3>because like it really was like when I saw the length,
<v Speaker 3>I was like, yeah, that tracks with every one of these.
<v Speaker 2>I don't think it's for many people who have played
<v Speaker 2>the game. I think it's from people who are like,
<v Speaker 2>should I get this game? I hear, it's only ten hours.
<v Speaker 5>That's a long money, you know what six was, so
<v Speaker 5>go play?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah it doesn't cost as much right now. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I hear people. But it's like it's just that it
<v Speaker 2>was not a complaint I had. I do not have
<v Speaker 2>as I continue to play it.
<v Speaker 1>This felt like watching like going back and forth and
<v Speaker 1>watching like two movies from differing genres that I absolutely
<v Speaker 1>adore and love because, like I would shouts out to
<v Speaker 1>the characterization of Grace because I feel like she finally
<v Speaker 1>echoed a lot of sentiments of how I feel playing
<v Speaker 1>these games of like oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
<v Speaker 5>She's actually properly terrified, which is like something you don't
<v Speaker 5>often get.
<v Speaker 1>With the like Ethan was just such a like, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>you know, we know what he eventually is and and
<v Speaker 1>is in the series of like you're you're not a
<v Speaker 1>real person the way that you're reacting to any of this, Ethan,
<v Speaker 1>but Grace is like, okay, cool, you're properly scared. And
<v Speaker 1>then when I was feeling like the game was getting
<v Speaker 1>too much for me and I was just like kind
<v Speaker 1>of being too tense. Masterfully, it switches to Leon and
<v Speaker 1>Leon just being a fucking himbo and just having a
<v Speaker 1>line for every single thing.
<v Speaker 4>The thing that.
<v Speaker 3>Killed me was I won't say specifically the circumstances, but
<v Speaker 3>basically there's a scene where like he comes across a
<v Speaker 3>horror scene like just death, Like some of the gory's
<v Speaker 3>just bodies and stuff you can imagine, and he watches
<v Speaker 3>a video of what happened kind of that event horizon
<v Speaker 3>moment of like seeing what happened to the crew, and
<v Speaker 3>it is just just fucking awful murder everything, and he
<v Speaker 3>takes the thing out. He stops watching it and he
<v Speaker 3>has a one liner for it. Thought I had a
<v Speaker 3>short fuse.
<v Speaker 2>It just stop.
<v Speaker 6>It's great when doctor the chainsaw, like I won a
<v Speaker 6>second opinions, Like.
<v Speaker 1>Mike, you were so upset during that launch stream when
<v Speaker 1>Leon didn't do anything to save that nurse.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, is that that? That's like that one nurse
<v Speaker 2>that you meet when you walk into the clinic. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>won't push open the door just as I chasaw. I
<v Speaker 2>feel like she's like whoa Like assip power is like
<v Speaker 2>very slow car running over the guy scene. Yeah right,
<v Speaker 2>it's like I'd like to help you, but you're not
<v Speaker 2>a main character.
<v Speaker 3>Of Leo Vader and Jacob Geller. And there's the part
<v Speaker 3>where there's that boss character who's in the office. He's
<v Speaker 3>like you're fired, fire and they just use the requiem
<v Speaker 3>on them and it is just the whole room is
<v Speaker 3>fucking splattered and it is just.
<v Speaker 2>He's the big gun, and when you use that gun,
<v Speaker 2>you feel like you use the thing that should be on.
<v Speaker 4>The name of the title.
<v Speaker 2>It's just it affects you.
<v Speaker 1>It's crazy.
<v Speaker 5>It's it's like usually in these games you'll get like this,
<v Speaker 5>like a super pistol, I forget what you would call it. Like, yeah,
<v Speaker 5>it's like you get collected so many collectibles to get it.
<v Speaker 2>You're like, BUYE for a ton of mighty. This game's
<v Speaker 2>like you get that from the start. It's just gonna
<v Speaker 2>be hard to get amma for it.
<v Speaker 5>But have fun.
<v Speaker 4>Yep.
<v Speaker 2>And then it's like if you kind of do get
<v Speaker 2>the the you know, the craftable stuff for it, you
<v Speaker 2>can craft about eight or nine of those bullets in
<v Speaker 2>that first section as Grace. Yeah, that comes in comes
<v Speaker 2>in handy when you are trying to like, oh, I
<v Speaker 2>need to clear a path to go to this place
<v Speaker 2>or whatever.
<v Speaker 5>It's it's pretty kind of like the for the climax
<v Speaker 5>of that section of the two. But it's fun because
<v Speaker 5>like crowing on Grace, like you can get past the
<v Speaker 5>zombies and a lot of times, you know they kind
<v Speaker 5>of do what Rosie one does, where well killing a
<v Speaker 5>zombie might have a consequence you might not want to
<v Speaker 5>do that unless you're can do it in a sort
<v Speaker 5>of very specific ways. A lot of times I am
<v Speaker 5>just shooting them a leg and pushing them down and
<v Speaker 5>running past them. Right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there's like a few of the big chaser ones,
<v Speaker 2>and you know, I love that there's like this kind
<v Speaker 2>of instant killed stealth thing like this shot and for
<v Speaker 2>like the one really big guy I did one like
<v Speaker 2>wasn't enough too, still wasn't enough.
<v Speaker 4>Like this third one.
<v Speaker 2>Better kill this guy and I better get something pretty
<v Speaker 2>cool for doing it. I did, and I did get
<v Speaker 2>a charm like, Okay, fine, that feels nice, but you
<v Speaker 2>also like it's clear like, oh, Leon could just take
<v Speaker 2>that guy out. Later In fact, Leon did take out
<v Speaker 2>like this butcher guide that I think people took out.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, almost everyone.
<v Speaker 7>I was very ridiculous, and yeah, gosh it just and
<v Speaker 7>also it looks so freaking good, such a such a
<v Speaker 7>such a pretty looking game, like especially some of the
<v Speaker 7>lighting stuff.
<v Speaker 5>If you're able to playing on PC, yeah, PC with
<v Speaker 5>the with the What's funny was the second half the
<v Speaker 5>Leos stuff was heavier than the first half. I actually
<v Speaker 5>had to turn off the path based retarch same I
<v Speaker 5>was switched to yeah when I was streaming it, but
<v Speaker 5>it still looked really good there, so of course.
<v Speaker 2>But it runs really well and switched to just like
<v Speaker 2>to reiterate stuff I've said elsewhere, surprisingly well, it's kind
<v Speaker 2>of how I would describe it. There are those heavier
<v Speaker 2>sections where there's more prolonged obvious frame drops, but the
<v Speaker 2>you know, the gcn VRR screen really helps a lot
<v Speaker 2>of times when whenever it dips from like sixty to fifty,
<v Speaker 2>I didn't notice in handheld mode, especially in handheld mode.
<v Speaker 4>And then it run.
<v Speaker 2>It does run at sixty a lot of the time,
<v Speaker 2>Like you know, this is not one of those ones
<v Speaker 2>where it's like, oh it's it's a great switchboard, it's
<v Speaker 2>locked at thirty. It's like, no, it's going but sixty
<v Speaker 2>most of the time, and there's gonna just be an
<v Speaker 2>occasional moment here or there, or the occasional section where
<v Speaker 2>it's going to be noticeable and you.
<v Speaker 4>Get it, get over it.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not gonna say this is the definitive version that
<v Speaker 2>people should play, but if it's where people want to play,
<v Speaker 2>you're not gonna regret it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Dan, I think you said may have been in
<v Speaker 1>the review video and folks, if if you're still curious
<v Speaker 1>and and on the fence about Resident Evil Requiem, go
<v Speaker 1>read Dan's review. Great review, Go listen to the review
<v Speaker 1>pod with a back larger. Oh, I can answer to that, now,
<v Speaker 1>you can. I think like the comparison you made was like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, we kind of need these like Will Smith
<v Speaker 1>Hollywood blockbuster style movies, and I feel like we don't have,
<v Speaker 1>at least in recent years, have like this pillar of
<v Speaker 1>video games because we've just been mired with like a
<v Speaker 1>lot of life service games and like the big sweeping
<v Speaker 1>Triple A games from Sony.
<v Speaker 3>The Prestige they gotta wear Ragnarocks and The Last of
<v Speaker 3>Us and all that. Like it's like, sure, there's basically
<v Speaker 3>on your your Prestige TV versions of video games, but
<v Speaker 3>like I kind of want dumber Triple A and this
<v Speaker 3>is dumber Triple A. Yeah, positive big time, like again,
<v Speaker 3>just the big ass dumb wild wild West Independence. You know,
<v Speaker 3>like this is like Top Gun Maverick, Right, Yeah, give
<v Speaker 3>me more of that end games, yes, where it's like
<v Speaker 3>you know what to expect beat by beat, but you
<v Speaker 3>were still on the edge of your seat having a
<v Speaker 3>fantastic time.
<v Speaker 1>Exactly. Yeah, any other thoughts before we had to break gang,
<v Speaker 1>just like I.
<v Speaker 5>Don't just spoils, but like, going towards the end, I
<v Speaker 5>kind of had like two complaints I would say with
<v Speaker 5>the story, and then both of them actually were sort
<v Speaker 5>of resolved from me. Oh that's nice too, So I
<v Speaker 5>just don't know. At the end, I walked away very satis,
<v Speaker 5>very happy. I kind of just do want to just
<v Speaker 5>jump back in and play again.
<v Speaker 4>Did you guys there's multiple innians. Do you guys do both?
<v Speaker 1>I did?
<v Speaker 3>It was I've never seen a more clear thing that like,
<v Speaker 3>oh that was the bad one.
<v Speaker 4>That was.
<v Speaker 2>That was the second time. Yeah, the material So it's
<v Speaker 2>just like, yeah, this one person said to do this,
<v Speaker 2>I'll do that.
<v Speaker 3>I guess, did well any of you guys about lose
<v Speaker 3>your mind at one point when you're going to the
<v Speaker 3>police station when you could have sworn you heard saw something?
<v Speaker 3>You saw it okay, looking around like sw like I
<v Speaker 3>hit record on my PlayStations, Like.
<v Speaker 5>What the fuck did I?
<v Speaker 2>I will say that particular guess something I would have
<v Speaker 2>expected her to, like if you play the game for
<v Speaker 2>the fourth time, this happens and no, it was just
<v Speaker 2>this thing happening and it.
<v Speaker 5>Was relatively easy to interest you. I'm like, what the
<v Speaker 5>hell that? Yeah, it's interesting just how Residi will to
<v Speaker 5>like code. This game is the Resuvil two sequel really
<v Speaker 5>in so many ways, Like you know it has Leon
<v Speaker 5>but Resie before not really mentioned plot wise, and after
<v Speaker 5>doing like seven and eight, it was kind of its
<v Speaker 5>own almost separate thing with the mold and a lot
<v Speaker 5>of different characters. It is neat to have things once
<v Speaker 5>again kind of be like Umbrella and the t virus.
<v Speaker 5>Raccoon City is kind of quote to be very rare,
<v Speaker 5>is it? In Evil?
<v Speaker 3>It's funny with the Umbrella stuff because it's like I
<v Speaker 3>was going back through some lower stuff and it's like,
<v Speaker 3>all right, there was like good Umbrella at one point,
<v Speaker 3>like blue Umbrella that like he's gotten rid of that
<v Speaker 3>that the whole company Maybe just throw that branding in
<v Speaker 3>the trash there, but like Chris Umbrella, but the good
<v Speaker 3>one ever made?
<v Speaker 6>Were we work with good Blackwater?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, see squashed because of Blue.
<v Speaker 5>It's all different.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe get rid of it? Yeah, just anything else?
<v Speaker 5>How about that? I think it was because was like
<v Speaker 5>a lot of good what a good branding and a
<v Speaker 5>merchandising opportunities with umbrella. How do we keep.
<v Speaker 1>Not gonna lie? Though? After beating r E nine, I
<v Speaker 1>have a hankering for more isident Evil, and I think
<v Speaker 1>it can only be satiated with six because I've never
<v Speaker 1>played six.
<v Speaker 3>I never played that is the one when I was
<v Speaker 3>playing like the co op stuff with Kayla and we
<v Speaker 3>you know, even like for all of its faults, five
<v Speaker 3>is still a fun co op fine, you know, yeah?
<v Speaker 1>I like five.
<v Speaker 3>We went onto six and it's like there are those
<v Speaker 3>four different campaigns and we did one of them. I
<v Speaker 3>think we might have done the Leon one and it's like,
<v Speaker 3>this fucking sucks.
<v Speaker 1>Are they all available from the start or do you
<v Speaker 1>have to beat one to access another thing?
<v Speaker 3>I think there's three of them and then there's like
<v Speaker 3>a four to five order or something. But it's just
<v Speaker 3>like an everybody in the pool. Here's every character you've
<v Speaker 3>ever heard of it. Here's like Wesker's kid, and it's like, okay, great.
<v Speaker 1>But like there may be enough of us to tackle
<v Speaker 1>each campaign.
<v Speaker 6>Oh god, yeah, get on there.
<v Speaker 4>The other Jill.
<v Speaker 1>My thing is that, Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>My thing is I just kind of want to play
<v Speaker 5>all the main lines. I haven't now, which is at
<v Speaker 5>this point original two, original, three, Coke Veronica zero and six.
<v Speaker 6>I don't those are the exact same ones. I haven't.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, oh yeah, one, two, three, zero Coke Veronica, co
<v Speaker 3>Veronica I got right at the end, but I got
<v Speaker 3>sucked over in my save files.
<v Speaker 1>But I've heard that I.
<v Speaker 4>Played a lot of Code Veronica at my friend's house, right, But.
<v Speaker 5>No, it's like, you know, I hate doing it. If
<v Speaker 5>I am going to meet, like, when's the next one?
<v Speaker 1>Sure?
<v Speaker 2>So that's you know, I didn't include in the news.
<v Speaker 2>We could talk about it here. Code Veronica. It seems
<v Speaker 2>to be like that will be the next remake. So
<v Speaker 2>that's cool then that that'll happen probably pretty soon because
<v Speaker 2>then apparently later this year, Capcom leadership is going to
<v Speaker 2>do their Resident Evil Retreat, something they lasted in twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty three, where they decide, they get together and they
<v Speaker 2>decide the next several years what Resident Evil is going
<v Speaker 2>to look like.
<v Speaker 4>So this game is going to be.
<v Speaker 2>So successful that they will probably color a lot of
<v Speaker 2>those conversations and they're like, what did we do right here?
<v Speaker 2>And how do we do more of it?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 5>And I'm glad what they didn't do with nine, which
<v Speaker 5>is I think the thing a lot of thought they
<v Speaker 5>were going to do was make a big open world game.
<v Speaker 4>It's so unnecessary.
<v Speaker 2>You could tell you could maybe look at some of
<v Speaker 2>the Leon parts later in the game and be like,
<v Speaker 2>maybe they were trying to do something here and they
<v Speaker 2>pulled it way back.
<v Speaker 4>Whatever, they ended up doing way better than what they Right.
<v Speaker 5>There's more where Like there was a version of this
<v Speaker 5>game that was like an open world Raccoon city thing,
<v Speaker 5>and again, like there's a part of that here and
<v Speaker 5>is the part that's more open and it is very good.
<v Speaker 2>But the best part of the game is still when
<v Speaker 2>it's just so resident evil. You're in one big building
<v Speaker 2>and you're clawing, scrunch your way to get this store
<v Speaker 2>open and get past this zombie and figure out this puzzle.
<v Speaker 2>And it's basically what the series was when it came
<v Speaker 2>out in nineteen ninety six. And that is still super fun,
<v Speaker 2>and they're still room for that, and yeah, I just
<v Speaker 2>I hope that they kind of continue around the court.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah doing like the more actiony stuff too, also super fun.
<v Speaker 2>Whether to spice it in there or do a game
<v Speaker 2>like that that also works. But they're in a really
<v Speaker 2>good place for President right now. They've really figured that out,
<v Speaker 2>and I don't need I don't need some huge shake
<v Speaker 2>up to it again anytime soon.
<v Speaker 4>You Know.
<v Speaker 3>It's interesting, I said, Jesse Vitelly had a thing on Instagram,
<v Speaker 3>and I like this theory he's got where it's like
<v Speaker 3>they've got this kind of cycle of three games where
<v Speaker 3>it's like one, two, three are all kind of classics
<v Speaker 3>rival horror, and then by three it's kind of diminishing returns.
<v Speaker 3>It's not bad, but it's like, Okay, reinventing this in
<v Speaker 3>like four, sure, totally reinvents it. Five takes it further
<v Speaker 3>with co op and stuff. Six gone a bit too far,
<v Speaker 3>scrap it, Gotta do another trilogy. Here go totally reinvent
<v Speaker 3>the wheel again with seven. Eight does a whole wacky
<v Speaker 3>thing with like a weird fairy tale thing and everything.
<v Speaker 3>Nine is like, it's probably the if we're talking three, six,
<v Speaker 3>and nine. Nine is definitely the best of the Yes,
<v Speaker 3>it's the.
<v Speaker 2>Best multiple three entry in the series.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, but the one that like goes really hard
<v Speaker 3>and goes really far in all of these things and
<v Speaker 3>gameplay and stuff, and like he posits that, like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>if they kind of keep up with this, maybe the
<v Speaker 3>next one will be in a whole nother you know,
<v Speaker 3>reimagining of what this could be.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, that's what those conversations will certainly be about.
<v Speaker 2>I expect they come away from nine being like, not yet,
<v Speaker 2>let's keep showing in this.
<v Speaker 3>Direction, right and three and six people were kind of
<v Speaker 3>tired of it. Nine people love, but.
<v Speaker 1>All sports on board now, Yeah, I feel like there's
<v Speaker 1>a lot of weight because the next one would be ten.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, It's like you gotta like, either you gotta get
<v Speaker 1>off on all like all bells and whistles, or do
<v Speaker 1>you take this as another soft reboot of everything.
<v Speaker 5>On the time the time they went like we gotta
<v Speaker 5>do all the bells and whistles when we got a
<v Speaker 5>resident evil sea. So maybe you almost kind of fight
<v Speaker 5>that urge a little bit. I mean that's what felt like,
<v Speaker 5>what did happen here is they threw everything in there
<v Speaker 5>and then they got rid of every single bell and
<v Speaker 5>whistle that fucking sucked. You could tell that they just
<v Speaker 5>took an editor's a scalpel to this game and anything
<v Speaker 5>that did not contribute to the feelings they wanted to have.
<v Speaker 5>So it's like, okay, here's a long description or a
<v Speaker 5>long cutscene. Well, cut that down to like a couple
<v Speaker 5>of paragraphs. Cut that down to it just a quick
<v Speaker 5>hit where they're going to have a quick conversation and
<v Speaker 5>move on quickly.
<v Speaker 4>They could like.
<v Speaker 2>Have luxuriated in their success here and done too much
<v Speaker 2>and you could just tell they know not to do
<v Speaker 2>that anymore. It's really impressive act.
<v Speaker 5>You know what, even the remix are going to be
<v Speaker 5>able to still you know, Coveronica zero. Those are going
<v Speaker 5>to be very much the survival horror style ones. At
<v Speaker 5>some point they're going to remake five and that's going
<v Speaker 5>to be like the four remaking the Leo Suction's here,
<v Speaker 5>just pure action again, So they're gonna be able to
<v Speaker 5>bounce back and forth between these things. Just oh yeah,
<v Speaker 5>through those then whatever. Ten is relatively easily Veronica.
<v Speaker 1>That's the one on the boat that No, that's that's revelation.
<v Speaker 5>This is this is a dream covering with Claire.
<v Speaker 2>That's very it's still very much in the vein of
<v Speaker 2>Resident Evil one, two and three, Uh, without any like
<v Speaker 2>being informed by what happened was happening. Kind at the
<v Speaker 2>same time we had four, like four happened right like
<v Speaker 2>very quickly after that. Uh, But it's like, Okay, this
<v Speaker 2>is the culmination of everything that happened to one, two.
<v Speaker 4>And three. A lot of people really like it. A
<v Speaker 4>lot of people are like, ah, that's a bit too much.
<v Speaker 4>I thought it was okay, it's funny.
<v Speaker 3>I'm a huge sucker for like bad guys that you
<v Speaker 3>thought were dead unexpectedly coming back, like twenty four used
<v Speaker 3>to do this, and like, you know, all sorts of like,
<v Speaker 3>oh god, we thought he was dead and Liquid Snake
<v Speaker 3>died four hundred times or whatever, you know. And so
<v Speaker 3>there's a part of me that, like, I always liked Wesker,
<v Speaker 3>and there were parts in this where I was like, wait,
<v Speaker 3>this is a new character.
<v Speaker 4>Is that that?
<v Speaker 1>Could that be Wesker?
<v Speaker 6>Are they're gonna bring back Wesker?
<v Speaker 1>You know?
<v Speaker 6>And I think I.
<v Speaker 3>Don't know if any character in the history of video
<v Speaker 3>games has ever died harder than Albert Wesker, right right, Yes,
<v Speaker 3>he was drowning in a volcano and then you're should.
<v Speaker 4>Come back because.
<v Speaker 3>Into both of his eyes while he's drowning in a volcano.
<v Speaker 3>It's my favorite video kick that's maybe ever like.
<v Speaker 1>Because he died in such an extravagant way, He's still
<v Speaker 1>alive in my head.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, that's the thing.
<v Speaker 3>They fucking Ripley and Alien three falls into a vat
<v Speaker 3>of lava.
<v Speaker 1>They bring her back in resurrection. You can do it.
<v Speaker 6>That's that lavas never killed anyone. No, I don't say
<v Speaker 6>that's true.
<v Speaker 5>I don't think Alien three and Alien Resurrection should be
<v Speaker 5>anybody's north star for how they treat their media.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I would still be I would pop for Wesker
<v Speaker 3>coming back.
<v Speaker 4>I think was wrestling is wrestling, so it should be dumb.
<v Speaker 2>This game was at its best when it was at
<v Speaker 2>its dumbestuff.
<v Speaker 5>Maybe I could do like a full on spoiler casting
<v Speaker 5>because I have more thoughts about some of that stuff
<v Speaker 5>as well.
<v Speaker 4>But like sounds good.
<v Speaker 5>But I mean this is kind of like my argument
<v Speaker 5>gets it. I think the new characters this game, we're great.
<v Speaker 5>Grace is the best character we had on forever. The
<v Speaker 5>voice acting fantastic. I really like Doctor as the villain
<v Speaker 5>was awesome, fantastic. He was great. Yeah, and I'm like,
<v Speaker 5>we can we can still do new characters. We have
<v Speaker 5>to bring freaking Wesker back.
<v Speaker 2>It's fun to bring him back, like a Jill and
<v Speaker 2>a That's not like the argument is like well, I
<v Speaker 2>want Whisker instead of new characters.
<v Speaker 4>Like, obviously the new character is great.
<v Speaker 2>I just think, like be dumb in the fun way
<v Speaker 2>that Resident Evil is often dumb in the fun way.
<v Speaker 1>But I get everyone has a different story, like if
<v Speaker 1>Wester has a sequel hat you know, Oh yeah, Jill
<v Speaker 1>too different for Jill.
<v Speaker 3>Right, we haven't had Jill since five and that's a
<v Speaker 3>weird Jill.
<v Speaker 5>Well since three remake. I gyeah, five Jill sucked. So yeah,
<v Speaker 5>I mean I hope we get Jill instead of Chris.
<v Speaker 5>And Chris is all again Chris.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like Chris, Yeah, he should keep his role that
<v Speaker 2>he's had recent where he just kind of shows up sometimes.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean I'd rather see a Cheva from five
<v Speaker 5>back then.
<v Speaker 1>Actually yeah she should be She's awesome.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah yeah, yeah, like that would that would make me
<v Speaker 5>pop more Rebecca and some even even give me Carlos
<v Speaker 5>from three also.
<v Speaker 1>Actually, sure, I didn't know there there was this much Chris.
<v Speaker 1>I don't even want to say hate, but like annoyance.
<v Speaker 5>He's just a lot of people like him. He's just
<v Speaker 5>like he's just like go in, like he's that guy.
<v Speaker 2>Whatever you see him, your first thought is man, I
<v Speaker 2>wish this was Leon.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, Leon is there were a Balti's game where I'm
<v Speaker 5>just like, I love you, Leon, I just like this.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, there'd be multiple times we're like, Leon, my hero.
<v Speaker 3>Realize how hard the tonal shifts are going to be.
<v Speaker 3>Is when it first goes to Leon and it's like,
<v Speaker 3>you know, you've been super scared his grace going through
<v Speaker 3>the thing and everything, and the doctor is carrying the
<v Speaker 3>doctor carrying Grace out just like hotel on the street,
<v Speaker 3>like crowded, like Chicago ass street, just on the sidewalk
<v Speaker 3>and everyone walking up be like, whoa, that's a nine
<v Speaker 3>foot tall guy carrying a pasted out woman.
<v Speaker 6>This is bad.
<v Speaker 3>And he's just shooting them all with tranquilizer arts in
<v Speaker 3>the middle of the road like okay, oh yeah. Leon
<v Speaker 3>pulls up at his porse. I'm in for this.
<v Speaker 5>Let's do it, Hamilton, you got I want to just
<v Speaker 5>play it again right now. It's great and it's so
<v Speaker 5>freaking good.
<v Speaker 1>Folks at home, I think it's say to say, really
<v Speaker 1>enjoy Resident Evil Requiem. We will be back with the
<v Speaker 1>news right after this. Quick bricking bread more Berry, give
<v Speaker 1>me more Berry's great. This is Jeff with.
<v Speaker 2>Out. Yeah, let's get into the news. I'm Jeff Grubb
<v Speaker 2>and I'm with it. Let's see here. First, is the
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo Indie World Showcase happened today. We talked over it,
<v Speaker 2>thought it was pretty good. Had games like Densha Attack,
<v Speaker 2>Moonlighter Too, Blighted which is a Metroid Vina game from
<v Speaker 2>the team to Diguaca Melee, So that's exciting. Blue Prints
<v Speaker 2>is coming to uh switch to now and Switch one
<v Speaker 2>I believe uh it dropped today. It's available immediately. Other
<v Speaker 2>games that were notable Heave Ho two, woodo Woodow Many
<v Speaker 2>shoot Adventures also dropped on to Switch today. Rot Wood
<v Speaker 2>which is a Switch to Console exclusive Monster a multiplayer
<v Speaker 2>monster Slayer game mixtape which we've talked about before. That's
<v Speaker 2>coming to Switch as well. And then a bunch of
<v Speaker 2>other games like Rottan which the patapon like YEP, Outbound
<v Speaker 2>Unrailed two something we've played.
<v Speaker 4>Overall, pretty good showing for indie games on the Switch
<v Speaker 4>to nothing mind blowing, a lot of stuff we've known
<v Speaker 4>about from other platforms or just straight up ports from
<v Speaker 4>other platforms.
<v Speaker 5>Butt to have on Switch Yep, Yeah, and Blueprints Sky
<v Speaker 5>I love Blueprints have more people playing Mini shoot Adventures
<v Speaker 5>and Blueprints makes me happy, and I want to mind
<v Speaker 5>replaying both of those games.
<v Speaker 1>Honestly, I think, Yeah, it's pretty huge for a game
<v Speaker 1>like Densha Attack to get this platform.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it opened up the show too. Yes, that's a
<v Speaker 2>good point again, like y'all.
<v Speaker 1>Got to check out the demo. It's just so Bonker's
<v Speaker 1>parentheses positive.
<v Speaker 2>The demo is on switch to now, so I was
<v Speaker 2>actually thinking I might just check it out.
<v Speaker 4>There, pretty easy to do.
<v Speaker 3>So I'm curious about Blighted because that is uh drink box,
<v Speaker 3>and I've liked a lot of their stuff in the past.
<v Speaker 3>Nobody Saves the World and Guaca Melee, Mutant Blobs Attack.
<v Speaker 3>They made good stuff, So I'm curious about that one. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>you love being too, so do you love being Blighted?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's what he's always saying to us. All right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so overall Nintendo coming with these showcases. Everyone still
<v Speaker 2>wondering where the big general direct is. I'm still the
<v Speaker 2>opinion we don't get anything of that sort until after
<v Speaker 2>at least Mario Day and maybe even after the Mario
<v Speaker 2>movie comes about a month from now, about a month
<v Speaker 2>out for really, Yeah, it's early it's April first, actually,
<v Speaker 2>so it's less than a month. There we go, all right,
<v Speaker 2>Up next, Sony Santa Monica is apparently going to expand
<v Speaker 2>the God of War franchise.
<v Speaker 4>Into an MCU like thing.
<v Speaker 2>Sony's Santa Monica studio is reportedly building on the God
<v Speaker 2>of whar we'ren't Universe with Corey Barlog's next game, the
<v Speaker 2>unannounced project.
<v Speaker 4>We haven't heard anything about it.
<v Speaker 2>We've heard previously that it's going to take place in
<v Speaker 2>a familiar franchise, but it might as well feel like
<v Speaker 2>a new intellectual property. Now we have a few more details.
<v Speaker 2>For example, it might star Fay, who was Crados's wet
<v Speaker 2>wife played by Deborah Ann Woll.
<v Speaker 4>In the games.
<v Speaker 2>And yeah, and it's going to be more action y
<v Speaker 2>and this is this is the reporting. None of this
<v Speaker 2>is confirmed, but yeah, okay, that sounds pretty interesting to me,
<v Speaker 2>especially of it going in a more action y direction,
<v Speaker 2>because it's like, yeah, I'd like those God War twenty
<v Speaker 2>eighteen games just fine, but I prefer the action ones
<v Speaker 2>and the idea of like taking everything they learned from
<v Speaker 2>twenty eighteen and Ragnarok and applying that to a game
<v Speaker 2>that is explicitly supposed to be a more action focused
<v Speaker 2>take on this universe.
<v Speaker 4>Cool. Uh, when you guys hear this, what do you think?
<v Speaker 5>I think the one thing I'm skeptical of here is
<v Speaker 5>how this isn't going to kind of feel familiar. I mean,
<v Speaker 5>you know, Fay is very much this Norse person in
<v Speaker 5>this Norse world. She's one of the the the you know,
<v Speaker 5>the Norse Warriansah, yeah, she's one of those. She's from
<v Speaker 5>the Giant realm at place we have been to in
<v Speaker 5>these games. And I'm a little bit over like the
<v Speaker 5>whole Norse God of War stuff. I'm a little bit
<v Speaker 5>over Norse in general. My last say that all the
<v Speaker 5>Norse mythology tete games, I'm gonna get a little bit.
<v Speaker 2>Like sor They're just they're just too human in my opinion.
<v Speaker 5>Exactly.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Ragnarok is this and a metaphor is and
<v Speaker 2>an actual thing this time? Right, Like, Yeah, so Corey
<v Speaker 2>Bog's very talented O in his team is obviously great.
<v Speaker 5>I bet they will make a good game. I guess
<v Speaker 5>I wonder it's you know, it's not like it's like
<v Speaker 5>these new God of War games are like thoughtful slow thinks.
<v Speaker 5>They're very action focused as well, you know, I so, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe action focus. But Ragnarok kind of tilted things. Like
<v Speaker 3>I considered God of War an action series and I
<v Speaker 3>loved it for it in like twenty eighteen, I thought
<v Speaker 3>was a great action game. By time Ragnarok came around,
<v Speaker 3>it was kind of like, Okay, I don't really care
<v Speaker 3>about this story. I would like more action than the
<v Speaker 3>story here, you know, sure, I think.
<v Speaker 2>Like the RPG like adventure elements to the action adventures genre.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>All I was meaning by action was could be maybe
<v Speaker 2>more like the original.
<v Speaker 1>I wouldn't if it's any more like Valhalla at all,
<v Speaker 1>because like Valhalla was like leaning into like a roguelike
<v Speaker 1>ish experience, sir.
<v Speaker 4>I think I'm sure they will learn from that.
<v Speaker 5>My worry is that what they mean is just not
<v Speaker 5>as many of the RPG elements and maybe some of
<v Speaker 5>the pult song and stuff. But that's fine. I feel
<v Speaker 5>like there's no way we get a Giant Triple A
<v Speaker 5>Sony game that is not very story focused. Still, oh yeah,
<v Speaker 5>it'll still.
<v Speaker 2>Have a lot of the story stuff for sure. Like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's the reason they're doing That's what I mean, that's
<v Speaker 2>the whole idea here. Is spin up another character in
<v Speaker 2>this same universe, have this game stand on its own,
<v Speaker 2>but with obvious hooks to the wider universe, so that
<v Speaker 2>you can then bring all those together later into one
<v Speaker 2>super game or whatever I will.
<v Speaker 6>Trilogy.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, well that's so happening.
<v Speaker 1>Not that I don't think that they can make a
<v Speaker 1>good story or a good game following Fae if the
<v Speaker 1>rumors are to be believed, but like and not that
<v Speaker 1>I I ultimately knowing her fate. That's like, well, I
<v Speaker 1>don't want to do this because I know she dies.
<v Speaker 1>If they're going to go back into God of War,
<v Speaker 1>I'd rather they just explore a different character in the universe,
<v Speaker 1>or like, I don't know, do something with the treas,
<v Speaker 1>do something with any of the other characters they were
<v Speaker 1>going to, like we're going to do something with a trayas.
<v Speaker 2>That was going to be the Blue Point game where
<v Speaker 2>each person played as a different aspect of a personality,
<v Speaker 2>and that was gonna be the multiplayer characters online multiplayer game.
<v Speaker 5>That makes sense because they kind of definitely leave it
<v Speaker 5>open for that. And Rangn and Rock well, I mean,
<v Speaker 5>don't you think there's a bit of a worry of
<v Speaker 5>God of War fatigue. We had that met opinion, which
<v Speaker 5>grants that I've bet not many PEPs are gonna play.
<v Speaker 5>It's gonna be the remake we're gonna get, certainly an
<v Speaker 5>actual new Kratis God of War at some point. And
<v Speaker 5>now even this game God of War spin off, and
<v Speaker 5>there was supposed to be a live surface game. I
<v Speaker 5>just it just seems like Sony is in the beating
<v Speaker 5>the dead horse market, right, I mean, we got this
<v Speaker 5>with Horizon already, and now God of What we got
<v Speaker 5>it with Last of Us and it's five remakes.
<v Speaker 1>Well, I don't know, because like Horizon is like a
<v Speaker 1>bigger franchise than any of us are familiar with, right.
<v Speaker 2>But like I mean to a certain extent, because a
<v Speaker 2>lot of that is like it was bundled with the
<v Speaker 2>cheapest version of the game console you can get. So
<v Speaker 2>a lot of people own that game for sure, and
<v Speaker 2>a lot of people do like it. But I don't
<v Speaker 2>think it's like some order of magnitude beyond well I
<v Speaker 2>was gonna say popular or anything else.
<v Speaker 1>I think God of War is still eclipses that in
<v Speaker 1>terms of popularity and like brand name recognition. So I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, maybe with the general audience they want more credos.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, like, I think it will come down
<v Speaker 2>to how different does this feel? But I don't think
<v Speaker 2>that sort of disregards or discounts the appeal next making
<v Speaker 2>to the idea of fatigue, because well, you know what,
<v Speaker 2>Iron Man movie feels different than a Spider Man movie,
<v Speaker 2>and yet I still had MCU fatigue after really liking
<v Speaker 2>those movies for a really long time. At a certain point,
<v Speaker 2>it's like I'm just done. I don't want this anymore.
<v Speaker 2>I want to do something that feels different and more exciting,
<v Speaker 2>and I'm not getting that from just the base level
<v Speaker 2>of the stuff all coming from the same place, you know,
<v Speaker 2>after playing Residentval Requiem, a game that like I can't
<v Speaker 2>stop praising, it's like, yeah, could Sony do more stuff
<v Speaker 2>like that? And I don't know if they can, and
<v Speaker 2>doesn't seem to be the kind of game that they
<v Speaker 2>would even approve of making in this moment.
<v Speaker 1>Like I feel like they had their chance with like
<v Speaker 1>peak Last of Us Part one and two popularity that
<v Speaker 1>they could have done more shorter contained side stories, and
<v Speaker 1>ultimately they didn't do that, Like they kind of did
<v Speaker 1>it with Miles Morales, but then haven't followed up on
<v Speaker 1>that since right.
<v Speaker 4>And it's like you kind of hope that was going
<v Speaker 4>to be a blueprint of sorts, but.
<v Speaker 5>It doesn't seem like like a blue point. He doesn't exist,
<v Speaker 5>yes more.
<v Speaker 4>Who does? He was being shut down? Yep. Absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>Did you guys see that image of Credos or war
<v Speaker 2>God an arrow boy from a joke from Jeff Backlar.
<v Speaker 2>I think it looked like spirit Halloween costumes.
<v Speaker 1>Show looks like garbage, insane.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean like there's a possibility it looks better
<v Speaker 2>with correct like uh uh, you know, theatrical lighting and
<v Speaker 2>all this stuff, cinematic lighting. It's just I don't know,
<v Speaker 2>it looks so cheap. I'm kind of excited because.
<v Speaker 5>It's like, oh, I hope the show looks like trash
<v Speaker 5>because that'll make it.
<v Speaker 4>Fun to watch. But uh yeah, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's something like, I know Credos has been a
<v Speaker 1>white dude for forever, right, but then just seeing him
<v Speaker 1>as like a white Oh, this is just the white.
<v Speaker 2>Dude now, huh he look this one looks like he's
<v Speaker 2>from the Midwest, Like, yes, he does, look I guess
<v Speaker 2>Chicago guy.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you know, is it because it's on like these
<v Speaker 3>weird streaming services and stuff that people don't like, like,
<v Speaker 3>for instance, Halo. I feel like during Halo's peak, everybody
<v Speaker 3>was like, oh, gotta have a Halo movie or Halo
<v Speaker 3>series like that would have been huge fucking news. And like,
<v Speaker 3>I'm only vaguely aware that there is some sort of
<v Speaker 3>Halo series that happened.
<v Speaker 5>Show.
<v Speaker 2>So that was Paramount Pluses, which subscribed to Yes, exactly,
<v Speaker 2>that's like, what does that mean the most popular show
<v Speaker 2>on Paramount Plus?
<v Speaker 4>What did it have to do to ten fifteen viewers?
<v Speaker 4>Like exactly?
<v Speaker 3>So is it a show about master Chief in full
<v Speaker 3>of Halo?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but the yeah, to see his cheeks and in
<v Speaker 2>it way? But yes, Like does any bang like one
<v Speaker 2>of the Covenant aliens or something?
<v Speaker 4>I don't know.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, No one's talking about it. He asked this helmet
<v Speaker 5>off a lot. Oh they were.
<v Speaker 1>There's quite a lot discourse about people not liking Oh.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, yeah, okay, It's just that would be such huge news,
<v Speaker 3>I feel like back in the day.
<v Speaker 6>But is it just the streaming?
<v Speaker 2>How do you feel about like like for Fallout, do
<v Speaker 2>you feel like the those sort.
<v Speaker 1>Of I.
<v Speaker 6>Haven't seen any of these, but I feel like Fallout.
<v Speaker 3>I've heard people talk about it, and I feel like
<v Speaker 3>people like Fallow people last of a show, you know,
<v Speaker 3>Like I hear people talk about that, but that was
<v Speaker 3>HBO and Fallout was what Amazon and maybe just a yeah.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, it's just there's so many of them, like
<v Speaker 5>some breakthrough and a lot of them don't it Almost
<v Speaker 5>that doesn't necessarily depend on what the franchise is. Like
<v Speaker 5>the Twisted Metal show kind of broke through, even though
<v Speaker 5>I haven't done anything with that forever and seemed like
<v Speaker 5>they still don't plan to.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but then it has like three seasons now the
<v Speaker 1>show does yeah, good for Joe.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, And even the show seemed to have like a
<v Speaker 5>second season people don't like as much even after the
<v Speaker 5>first one is good. I certainly don't care. Like I've
<v Speaker 5>I've seen the God of War TV show.
<v Speaker 2>It was called God of War. They played it in
<v Speaker 2>between the sections where I was beating people up.
<v Speaker 5>Yes, And it looked much better in that video game,
<v Speaker 5>because you know, having a guy who's ashen white and
<v Speaker 5>with red stripes and wearing kind of you know, silly
<v Speaker 5>looking Norse armor everywhere, it looks fine a video game.
<v Speaker 5>It looks kind of fucking dumb in real life.
<v Speaker 1>Like it seems like they're trying to do too much
<v Speaker 1>like the actual video game rather than make like uh
<v Speaker 1>corrections to like what would make sense in real life.
<v Speaker 1>You know.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think you guys, you just need such a
<v Speaker 2>good director of photography to make that whole thing work.
<v Speaker 2>It has to like just look like a whole other
<v Speaker 2>world at some point. Right now, this just looks like
<v Speaker 2>someone went on the set and took a photo.
<v Speaker 4>Which they did.
<v Speaker 3>So I feel like even if they asked like Middle
<v Speaker 3>Year Solid like a series or a movie like, I
<v Speaker 3>would not be excited for. I think I would just
<v Speaker 3>I would watch that one out of sheer morbid curiosity.
<v Speaker 4>You know.
<v Speaker 3>These other ones are just zero out of ten for
<v Speaker 3>me in terms of interest level. You know, I would
<v Speaker 3>say that Caslvania anime, the Caslvani anime was actually quite good.
<v Speaker 6>I like that one.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, did you have you watched all of them?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? Another series I didn't see, the other series, War series. Yeah, okay,
<v Speaker 3>I watch the four seasons or whatever, and they were
<v Speaker 3>very good.
<v Speaker 5>Okay, certainly somewhere it's like, oh they're making they're hanging
<v Speaker 5>a live action Zona movie. I'm gonna see that, I
<v Speaker 5>guess for sure.
<v Speaker 1>Like my assumption with like the Zelda movie is that
<v Speaker 1>it would be more stylized after a while, right, and
<v Speaker 1>maybe this will be as well. But I don't know it.
<v Speaker 4>Just you would hope, So I don't.
<v Speaker 1>I know it's God of War. But looking at that
<v Speaker 1>photo just gives me a Sons of Anarchy vibe. Sure
<v Speaker 1>that guy's from Sons of Anarchy, so probab that's why. Yep,
<v Speaker 1>all right.
<v Speaker 2>Blue Point reportedly had a Bloodborne remake pitch rejected by
<v Speaker 2>From Software, not by Sony. A bunch of reporting around
<v Speaker 2>this happened over the week. PlayStation's Blue Point studio reportedly
<v Speaker 2>pitched a remake. They did that a couple of times,
<v Speaker 2>in the most recent time. Sony's like, yes, thumbs up,
<v Speaker 2>it looks good. The money makes sense, Like we did
<v Speaker 2>the math. The math makes sense. Let's go for it.
<v Speaker 2>We just got to go check in with from and
<v Speaker 2>they say, go fuck yourself. So this what's one of
<v Speaker 2>the things they pitched that let to Blue Point not
<v Speaker 2>having a project and then led to them closing down
<v Speaker 2>or getting closed down next month. But yeah, this is
<v Speaker 2>kind of right in line with what you know I've
<v Speaker 2>been saying for years, this is frum Soft.
<v Speaker 4>Is the barrier here.
<v Speaker 2>I never knew exactly why. Over time, it's become a
<v Speaker 2>little bit more clear that that they just want to
<v Speaker 2>control it, which is what I heard originally. But it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>well yeah, what does that look like? Can they like
<v Speaker 2>work with another studio? And it's like, sounds like they
<v Speaker 2>just don't want to work with another studio specifically because
<v Speaker 2>Miyazaki does not want to and.
<v Speaker 5>That's right, And it sounds like they maybe didn't like
<v Speaker 5>the Demon Soul's remake, which I hear that. I hear
<v Speaker 5>that from like fans of Demonthals too, And I'm always
<v Speaker 5>a little bit.
<v Speaker 2>Like, why not' well look what this monster like?
<v Speaker 5>Here? Look what looks like here? They changed it? I'm like, yeah,
<v Speaker 5>because the one on the lest from the PS three.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, right, So the interpretations of the monster designs is
<v Speaker 2>the most common complaint whatever. I bet it's more complicated
<v Speaker 2>than any of these things that, like any of these
<v Speaker 2>fan theories about why Miyazaki specifically doesn't like it wants
<v Speaker 2>to be the one whole holds the keys to Bloodborn
<v Speaker 2>and then wants to be the one that actually does
<v Speaker 2>all the work and don't we don't know all that
<v Speaker 2>but blood Borne. Nothing's happening with Bloodborne because of this specifically,
<v Speaker 2>So no remake, no remaster, no really really re release,
<v Speaker 2>no port. Go get get it on PC, play it
<v Speaker 2>on emulator, get sixty frames percent on that.
<v Speaker 5>That's the thing too. It's like everyone just like some
<v Speaker 5>people want them to just remaster it. That's all people
<v Speaker 5>really want. It doesn't even really need a remake. People
<v Speaker 5>just want to play that game on modern systems at
<v Speaker 5>sixty frames per second. And that doesn't seem like some
<v Speaker 5>giant ask in. Okay, if if they want to be
<v Speaker 5>kg over from software about another team coming and remake
<v Speaker 5>their work, I suppose that is their privilege. They have
<v Speaker 5>earned that at this point. But you're not gonna let
<v Speaker 5>somebody come in and remaster the game, even not.
<v Speaker 2>I think part this is me speculating now, I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Part of me thinks so like it really is a
<v Speaker 2>little bit about frustration with Sony because you know, they
<v Speaker 2>go back to like they did Demon Souls, and then
<v Speaker 2>Sony had that and they so they had to make
<v Speaker 2>spin up a whole thing with Dark Souls so they
<v Speaker 2>can kind of get control of their thing back and
<v Speaker 2>then I wonder if they're like, it's the same thing
<v Speaker 2>going to happen with blood Borne, and then the same
<v Speaker 2>thing kind of happened with Bloodborne. I don't know why
<v Speaker 2>they didn't, you know, foresee it going that way, right,
<v Speaker 2>I mean they didn't go they went back to Sony.
<v Speaker 4>They went back.
<v Speaker 5>I mean they took the and I'd be like, well,
<v Speaker 5>you know, PlayStation paid for It's a privilege, not necessarily,
<v Speaker 5>but yeah, like you went back to Sony and had
<v Speaker 5>them paid them to make that game. And again I'm
<v Speaker 5>not saying if you don't want them to make and
<v Speaker 5>you have that power to stop it, that's okay.
<v Speaker 2>But they specifically don't have that power is the thing,
<v Speaker 2>and that's that's where cloud.
<v Speaker 5>To stop it is the cloud. The cloud, and if
<v Speaker 5>you want to push that cloud again, you have earned
<v Speaker 5>that to a point, that's okay. But like, come on,
<v Speaker 5>let's let's let's all work together here and get people
<v Speaker 5>away what they want, which is just to play that
<v Speaker 5>game on modern platforms at sixty frames per second. That
<v Speaker 5>shouldn't be some giant ask.
<v Speaker 2>Nope, yeah, that definitely not. PlayStation certainly wants to work
<v Speaker 2>with from software again like that that that should be like,
<v Speaker 2>that's not even speculations, just obvious to everybody. So they're
<v Speaker 2>not going to take any chances on anything that could
<v Speaker 2>ruin that relationship.
<v Speaker 4>And you know, I don't.
<v Speaker 2>Pretend to know what relationship ships are like in Japan specifically,
<v Speaker 2>but I bet they take that sort of respect between
<v Speaker 2>one another and not doing something that would step on
<v Speaker 2>another company's toes pretty seriously. I think that's what Sony's
<v Speaker 2>So Sony's probably just been extra cautious here when they
<v Speaker 2>do something like say no. After Bluepoint says please say no.
<v Speaker 2>Pokemon Wins and Waves was revealed, there was the Pokemon
<v Speaker 2>Day on February twenty seventh. Just last week we talked
<v Speaker 2>over that as well. Pokemon Wins and Waves is a
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo Switch to exclusive that is coming out in twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty seven, so it will not be out for the
<v Speaker 2>thirtieth anniversary year. Instead, they're taking a little bit of
<v Speaker 2>extra time and they are not going to support the
<v Speaker 2>Switch one a lot of like positive inclinations. They're really
<v Speaker 2>taking it seriously about getting this game right. And then
<v Speaker 2>it looked pretty good in these early trailers.
<v Speaker 4>How'd you feel about a jan.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, very to hear that they're taking another year to
<v Speaker 1>continue baking and marinating the game, just because you know, gosh,
<v Speaker 1>what was the last one? Scartant Violet very rough upon launch,
<v Speaker 1>and I know once the Switch two came out there
<v Speaker 1>were a couple patches that improved things, but it wasn't
<v Speaker 1>enough for me to like really want to re explore
<v Speaker 1>the game. And you know, ZA was fairly good, and
<v Speaker 1>with my expectations being very low, but I'm excited for
<v Speaker 1>a brand new generation that is gonna only be on
<v Speaker 1>the Switch to, so no, you don't have to factor
<v Speaker 1>in anything where in factor in the Switch one and
<v Speaker 1>any of that player base. I'm also excited that I
<v Speaker 1>like these starters. I like a good fire dog. Also,
<v Speaker 1>I'm a big fan of the setting. I've seen rewatched
<v Speaker 1>the trailer a couple of times. Why because it's gonna
<v Speaker 1>be my people this time. Man, it does look like
<v Speaker 1>Southeast Asia is heavily influenced I've seen. Michael hym actually
<v Speaker 1>has an article on IGN talking about the influences that
<v Speaker 1>you can see the trailer. In the trailer a lot
<v Speaker 1>of Philippines inspired rice patties, other geographical stuff that looks
<v Speaker 1>like it could be pulled from Indonesia and Thailand. So
<v Speaker 1>I'm just excited to see what this game will bring.
<v Speaker 1>The bummer part for me is that how much it
<v Speaker 1>heavily features older Pokemon. But I guess older Pokemon you're
<v Speaker 1>just gonna use them to fill out like the regional Pokemon.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean they used to do the thing where
<v Speaker 5>like some I can't remember what they do is where
<v Speaker 5>some generations will be like it's only new Pokemon until
<v Speaker 5>you beat the lead four and then old Pokemon populate
<v Speaker 5>the world. I don't know if they ever do that
<v Speaker 5>kind of thing again necessarily. Now there's so many old Pokemon. Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>maybe each one will we'll bee a new generation. AD's
<v Speaker 5>fifty of them they get sprinkled in there, but who knows.
<v Speaker 2>I hope they fifty is the optimal number, right of
<v Speaker 2>like number of Pokemon that they should add for a
<v Speaker 2>new one. These days, it's like they don't need to
<v Speaker 2>do one hundred each time anymore for sure.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I am just hoping that Bond doesn't wind up
<v Speaker 1>becoming a fire fighting type because we have too many
<v Speaker 1>of those.
<v Speaker 5>We have too many, none of them should evolve into
<v Speaker 5>a fighting type at the end. We don't need that,
<v Speaker 5>not even I think there's too many dual types in
<v Speaker 5>general now that at the at a certain point you
<v Speaker 5>kind of need dual types, because why wouldn't you, there's
<v Speaker 5>so many those options. Yeah, I do, goodness, and we'll
<v Speaker 5>do kind of miss when that was a big luxury.
<v Speaker 5>And usually if it was a dual type, there's always
<v Speaker 5>the same ones of grass also being poison, or water
<v Speaker 5>sometimes also being ice. A lot of times you just
<v Speaker 5>here's a guy and he's just fire and that's his thing,
<v Speaker 5>and that's okay too monotype.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's low key kind of good and competitive. So
<v Speaker 1>I would also welcome that.
<v Speaker 5>Right, Well, fewer weaknesses, right Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Austin Walker pointed out what pom bomb is going to
<v Speaker 2>evolve into, and it's the big armored Pomeranian from What's
<v Speaker 2>the what What's the Little Dark QRPG? From from back
<v Speaker 2>back in the day, the one with all the Pomeranians
<v Speaker 2>and stuff. Shoot, uh, the one with guy the guy
<v Speaker 2>did music for Pokemon.
<v Speaker 4>He made the game. Oh Undertail, Undertail, thank you.
<v Speaker 2>I want to say, unknown, I'm like, that's a Pokemon, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>the undertail Pomeranian armor guy.
<v Speaker 5>It's some of those pictures something more sci fi and
<v Speaker 5>that what was blocking me there? Just sorry, I get it.
<v Speaker 1>The other thing I enjoy about the game is that
<v Speaker 1>palmbond Oh cool Pomeranian bonfire Gekua geck aqua. And then
<v Speaker 1>Brout is just like bird with eyebrows. Me.
<v Speaker 5>I like, I like browt a lot. I think I'm
<v Speaker 5>going team Brown on this one.
<v Speaker 1>A little angry bird.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, he is an angry bird, and I'm into that.
<v Speaker 2>Pokemon Company had a bunch of other announcements. Champions has
<v Speaker 2>a release date that's coming, But really I want to
<v Speaker 2>talk about the Pokemon Company releasing a mini game boy
<v Speaker 2>that plays Pokemon music by swapping forty five different cartridges.
<v Speaker 1>They made hit clips, they.
<v Speaker 4>Made hit clips.
<v Speaker 2>They brought hit You don't just put in the one
<v Speaker 2>and includes it comes in red and blue versions and
<v Speaker 2>in dudes, forty five colored cartridges, each with uh a
<v Speaker 2>singular one funo music track.
<v Speaker 1>Well this is what you guys used to have to
<v Speaker 1>do with cassette tapes, right, God you could get so many,
<v Speaker 1>so many songs on a cossette tape and then you
<v Speaker 1>got a whole other side. Jan Oh sorry, guys, I
<v Speaker 1>didn't mean offender be able.
<v Speaker 5>To like put some kind of storage device in there
<v Speaker 5>that only holds one's song, right, it seems like a
<v Speaker 5>I bet.
<v Speaker 4>It holds more than that. They're just limiting it.
<v Speaker 5>To why my god, growth uh sure.
<v Speaker 4>It looks like a game boy though.
<v Speaker 1>I already ordered it this. I saw a friend posting
<v Speaker 1>that they saw this at the Nintendo San Francisco store.
<v Speaker 1>That might make it. I might, I might go and
<v Speaker 1>get it.
<v Speaker 5>Well, there you go.
<v Speaker 4>If you do unboxing. I want to. I want to.
<v Speaker 4>I want to see you go through it and actually
<v Speaker 4>use all these cartridges.
<v Speaker 5>All right.
<v Speaker 2>Sony confirms a major PS five Pro upgrade is rolling
<v Speaker 2>out in some form today, and that was the day
<v Speaker 2>that As It An Evil Requiem came out. They have
<v Speaker 2>updated Pisser. PlayStation spectral resolution is getting updated everybody. And
<v Speaker 2>this is the one we've kind of been waiting for
<v Speaker 2>for a while because they worked with AMD.
<v Speaker 4>On this one.
<v Speaker 2>They shifted from an old version of AI upscaling of
<v Speaker 2>machine learning upscaling to the new version that in Video
<v Speaker 2>has been using for forever and AMD has been using recently,
<v Speaker 2>and it's much better. Basically, it just enables the game
<v Speaker 2>to tell what something should look like over time. And
<v Speaker 2>that makes the image sharper. That's all you really need
<v Speaker 2>to know. They launched it with Resident Evil Requiem excuse
<v Speaker 2>me on PlayStation five Pro, So if you have a
<v Speaker 2>Pro and you have a Requiem, you could see what
<v Speaker 2>this looks like.
<v Speaker 4>Now.
<v Speaker 2>They will begin putting this into a bunch more games
<v Speaker 2>next month, I believe.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, in March, I play.
<v Speaker 6>A stimal on my Pro. It wasn't ready you.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, you played it before this had launched it you
<v Speaker 2>played a sub optimal version. You might as well have
<v Speaker 2>just played garbagineview.
<v Speaker 5>Simple are saying that looks very good on the Pro.
<v Speaker 6>By the way, it's the Pro even before this update,
<v Speaker 6>So I'm curious to try that.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, and this is going to really kind of
<v Speaker 2>bring all that stuff home because it's like the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>five Pro was already pretty impressive in terms of its
<v Speaker 2>hardware specs. You know, PS five already looks good, so
<v Speaker 2>it's maybe sometimes hard to tell how the games were
<v Speaker 2>visually improved. This will kind of like really seal the
<v Speaker 2>deal in some ways. It was the missing piece of
<v Speaker 2>the puzzle for the PS five Pro. All right, let's
<v Speaker 2>do this one casting call, seemingly confirms Wolfenstein three is
<v Speaker 2>coming and reveals new character. There was a leaked of
<v Speaker 2>casting details for the project, which is code named Valkyrie.
<v Speaker 2>At the moment, Valkyrie.
<v Speaker 4>Was the name of the movie, and I bet it's
<v Speaker 4>history the Tom Cruise one, were there like a plot
<v Speaker 4>to kill.
<v Speaker 2>Hitler a bunch of among a bunch of German soldiers,
<v Speaker 2>So I bet that is a reference to something that
<v Speaker 2>really did happen. Reportedly that this will corroborate this leaked
<v Speaker 2>casting detail that a third Wolfenstein game is in production
<v Speaker 2>at Machine Games following the completion of Indiana Jones and
<v Speaker 2>the Great Circle, which they've moved on from now that
<v Speaker 2>they've put it out everywhere and finished the DLC. The
<v Speaker 2>casting call specifically is attached to the performance director for
<v Speaker 2>the previous Machine Games title, so the person who oversaw
<v Speaker 2>the performances in the previous game is back, it seems like,
<v Speaker 2>and they're kind of starting that process up all over again,
<v Speaker 2>which is why people are like, Okay, something is really
<v Speaker 2>happening here. And then there's a new character named Sophia,
<v Speaker 2>who is in an eight to eleven year old Ukrainian
<v Speaker 2>orphan who bonds with bj Blaskwitz.
<v Speaker 4>Sounds like a good time to me.
<v Speaker 2>I kind of every little tidbit about this making this
<v Speaker 2>game feel more and more real is It's very encouraging
<v Speaker 2>to me because I was definitely at a low point
<v Speaker 2>thinking we will never ever get this game, So now
<v Speaker 2>that it feels more real than ever, that's fantastic.
<v Speaker 5>We need it, We do need it, and they'll they'll
<v Speaker 5>nail it.
<v Speaker 4>I bet they'll really nail it.
<v Speaker 2>Video game preservation service myriant is shutting down. Myriant is.
<v Speaker 2>That's what I've been using for a while now, and
<v Speaker 2>it's one of those ones kind of kind of tried
<v Speaker 2>to keep pretty low key because we didn't want this
<v Speaker 2>to happen.
<v Speaker 4>It got too popular.
<v Speaker 2>In the last year or so, it was costing the
<v Speaker 2>person who runs the site six thousand dollars out of pocket,
<v Speaker 2>so he was getting I've had some donations and stuff
<v Speaker 2>like that, and then after he spent all that, he
<v Speaker 2>still had to spend six thousand dollars of his own
<v Speaker 2>money to kind of keep things up and running. He
<v Speaker 2>does somewhat credit AI and data centers causing the price
<v Speaker 2>of RAM and storage to go up, and that's affected
<v Speaker 2>him running the site. And this has led to a
<v Speaker 2>bunch of people going Hey, we got to save all
<v Speaker 2>of these excellent things on myriand because one of the
<v Speaker 2>best things about it it's like full sets of ROMs
<v Speaker 2>and ISOs, and it's not just the games, it's the
<v Speaker 2>games from every region. And then it's like every demo
<v Speaker 2>disc and every like behind the scenes like the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>a developer demo disc, the one they would send out
<v Speaker 2>with like the net eurose or something that's on there
<v Speaker 2>and say, oh man, just having all this in one
<v Speaker 2>place was so important for for history, for kind of
<v Speaker 2>like going back and looking at these things. To lose
<v Speaker 2>that is very depressing. A bunch of people are trying
<v Speaker 2>to mirror the site now, but that has led to
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of competing projects. And that's on top of
<v Speaker 2>everyone else just trying to download things. I might be
<v Speaker 2>one of those people and down download speeds have just
<v Speaker 2>cratered and you kind of can't get anything anymore. It
<v Speaker 2>takes a long time to get like a a gd
<v Speaker 2>RAM for the Dreamcast at this point. Uh yeah, this
<v Speaker 2>is just what we know. These things kind of happen
<v Speaker 2>a lot of times because of lawyers showing up. We
<v Speaker 2>don't always think about the fact that a lot of
<v Speaker 2>these projects do depend on one person doing the work
<v Speaker 2>and spending the money, and they're often unsung and to
<v Speaker 2>the point where, yeah, I don't I don't blame anyone
<v Speaker 2>for not wanting to keep this up, although it is
<v Speaker 2>going to be a great loss, so hopefully we're able
<v Speaker 2>to replicate.
<v Speaker 4>It in some way.
<v Speaker 2>And then finally Fallout New Vegas remaster Hopium goes off
<v Speaker 2>like Mount Vesuvius as Iron Galaxy ETAs is what's coming
<v Speaker 2>next quote unquote with a very famous loading screen. So
<v Speaker 2>basically they said they're having a meeting about what's coming
<v Speaker 2>next for Iron Galaxy, and they posted an image about
<v Speaker 2>this meeting on social media, and the image is a
<v Speaker 2>picture of someone's computer with the Fallout sort of be
<v Speaker 2>right back loading screen sort of thing. What the hell, Well,
<v Speaker 2>you guys think it's happening.
<v Speaker 1>Before before we actually talk about this grub. Yeah, what
<v Speaker 1>do the gimmicks think about volcanoes? Do they think it's
<v Speaker 1>an eminent threat? Because you know, one day they're gonna
<v Speaker 1>have to throw me in one.
<v Speaker 5>They doosur when you're seventy two.
<v Speaker 2>Right exactly to you know, placate the gods. No, they're
<v Speaker 2>not too worried about it. I wonder how they feel
<v Speaker 2>about quicksand oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay. I'm like, if
<v Speaker 2>there's gonna be a remester of fall at New Vegas,
<v Speaker 2>I feel like this isn't how it would be teased, right, agree, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>I would like to play in that stuff, be very lockdown.
<v Speaker 6>I've always been curious.
<v Speaker 3>You seem to like it, and like I remember when
<v Speaker 3>to launched, it was like super trusted, great game, and
<v Speaker 3>the releast three to sixty was busted. So I just like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>those things where it's like I'm sure it'll get better
<v Speaker 3>at a certain point. It sounds like it did, but
<v Speaker 3>I never went back to play it, So I would
<v Speaker 3>love to play a remaster this.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean if you played the original now you
<v Speaker 5>know it's still going to run, well, it's just gonna
<v Speaker 5>you know, TH's Fallout, those bethes, the games from that
<v Speaker 5>time look a certain way. It doesn't necessarily bother me,
<v Speaker 5>but certainly it would look better if they remade it.
<v Speaker 5>And I don't have a problem with Iron Galaxy doing
<v Speaker 5>I know some people have issues with Tonya's pro Skater
<v Speaker 5>three plus four. I liked it.
<v Speaker 2>I mean he would just fucking hate Dave Lang.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, just what it is.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, sure, yeah, it's all too cool, just an equal.
<v Speaker 2>Pile of bones. Yeah, too quiet is what they do
<v Speaker 2>say about tave Lang. That's right, Mike.
<v Speaker 4>I agree with you.
<v Speaker 2>The idea that this is the way that they would
<v Speaker 2>tease it is the one thing that has me hung
<v Speaker 2>up where it's like, I want to believe this does
<v Speaker 2>make some sense. It feels like the kind of thing
<v Speaker 2>that could have been scrapped together since the show got
<v Speaker 2>really popular and Fallout is at its peak, and it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>so get these guys to work on that stuff and
<v Speaker 2>then have them tease it themselves in a very obvious
<v Speaker 2>way on social media.
<v Speaker 4>That's yeah, that does fall apart.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe this is their plan. Maybe they don't want to
<v Speaker 2>wait for their like SGF time frame to announce something
<v Speaker 2>like that, and they're gonna just announce it as part
<v Speaker 2>of you know, is the second season done? I bet
<v Speaker 2>the second season must be done by now. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if Yeah, it's just it's weird.
<v Speaker 4>I'm not sure what to think.
<v Speaker 2>All right, jan that does it for the News. I'm
<v Speaker 2>handing the show back over to you.
<v Speaker 1>Wonderful. We're going to take another quick pricking break and
<v Speaker 1>we'll be back with emails and the news, not the
<v Speaker 1>news super chats.
<v Speaker 4>Right after this.
<v Speaker 2>Emails, I'm writing an email real quick to you, Jan Hey,
<v Speaker 2>you got none of you guys on this week's episode
<v Speaker 2>talked about playing the Marathon Server Slam.
<v Speaker 4>Did anyone play the Marathon Server Slam?
<v Speaker 1>Email came in from one Jeff Grub sent from my
<v Speaker 1>not iPhone my computer. Uh, did any of y'all play
<v Speaker 1>the Marathon super Server Slam? Server Slam is a cool
<v Speaker 1>name for something. Did you check it out? Is that?
<v Speaker 2>Like?
<v Speaker 5>Is that like Shrek Super Slam?
<v Speaker 4>It's the same, exactly the same.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, okay, yeah I didn't. I don't know. I was
<v Speaker 5>kind of like, look if i'd have Resident Evil this weekend,
<v Speaker 5>but I definitely wanted to just kind of play Resident Evil.
<v Speaker 5>And it's like it's not the actual launch, and I'm like,
<v Speaker 5>I'll just wait for that. It's interesting trying to get
<v Speaker 5>a grip on what people think of this.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, it's all over the place.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's it was like, coming going into the Server Slam,
<v Speaker 2>it seemed like it was at its peak. People are like,
<v Speaker 2>this thing's back, this is going to be a lot
<v Speaker 2>of fun. We can't wait going into It's like, oh man,
<v Speaker 2>already one hundred and forty thousand concurrent players on Friday.
<v Speaker 2>I can't wait to see what it does on the weekend.
<v Speaker 2>And then it did less on the weekend, and.
<v Speaker 1>Now it's like everyone was playing the Horizon one.
<v Speaker 2>Right, uh huh exactly, yeah, right there, that was going
<v Speaker 2>on at the same time. I think that we are
<v Speaker 2>going to get to launch day and it's not gonna
<v Speaker 2>be Concord. But it's not gonna be one of these
<v Speaker 2>games that pops off. I don't think it's gonna be.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna be. I think it's a forty dollars entry fee.
<v Speaker 2>You have to pay four hours to play the game.
<v Speaker 5>So this was free server Slam, so it's not gonna
<v Speaker 5>have more players than that once it to actually buy it. Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>I like, I'll be curious to see if it like
<v Speaker 2>once people have to pay, if it actually surpasses one
<v Speaker 2>hundred thousand concurrents on.
<v Speaker 3>Sart Craders cost money right, yes, okay? On the audience
<v Speaker 3>forty was it forty okay?
<v Speaker 2>And that grew Yeah, it grew, yes, because the word
<v Speaker 2>of mouth really really carried that thing through the holidays.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, all right, podcast John dot com is the email
<v Speaker 1>dress send your emails to write in about any and everything,
<v Speaker 1>and I will continue to say this that I've said.
<v Speaker 1>Over the last couple of weeks we were getting out
<v Speaker 1>a lot of emails, So thank you everyone for writing in.
<v Speaker 1>We love the engagement and everything. I personally love seeing it.
<v Speaker 1>First email comes from Arthur and Portsmouth, UK. Dear Bombers.
<v Speaker 1>I've occasionally heard it said that Mike Manatti is the
<v Speaker 1>bird boy of games media. But if that's true, who's
<v Speaker 1>the good boy of games media? Also me the cutie
<v Speaker 1>patuitium games media? This sweet oh hm hmm, good boy Vitelli? No, no,
<v Speaker 1>cutie petuity games Media.
<v Speaker 4>You said cutie patuity.
<v Speaker 2>That's always it, Brad Shoemaker.
<v Speaker 3>Is that the good boy handsome.
<v Speaker 2>Rh Yeah, it's definitely not a serial killer.
<v Speaker 4>It's like, I guess you could be a good boy.
<v Speaker 6>I don't think he's a serial killer.
<v Speaker 3>I think he's better than us. Well, no, I doesn't
<v Speaker 3>have an ego about him. I'll say, yeah, sure, make sure.
<v Speaker 1>The sweet little lad of games media.
<v Speaker 4>There's more that could be?
<v Speaker 2>Are these different? There is that blessing?
<v Speaker 5>Sure?
<v Speaker 1>Sure, okay uh, and then Arthur continues in my head,
<v Speaker 1>Mike is also all the above can't be right?
<v Speaker 5>There you go?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, police sell this conundrum for me. Kind regards, Arthur, Portsmouth, UK.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone you'll need to write in as to who's who
<v Speaker 1>in games media. Next email comes from Rochester, Minnesota. Your
<v Speaker 1>damn congratulations on pulling through and finally beating Securo is
<v Speaker 1>someone who was glued to that game back when it
<v Speaker 1>released and unlocked the Platinum trophy. I'm glad more and
<v Speaker 1>more people are realizing how great they is. I feel
<v Speaker 1>like most people just wanted a Dark Soul's experience, but
<v Speaker 1>seki Row was something more focused and definitely shined in
<v Speaker 1>its own way. As a result, I still think it's
<v Speaker 1>up there with elden Ring for me as well, and
<v Speaker 1>it undoubtedly gives you a unique feeling of accomplishment by
<v Speaker 1>how difficult yet well designed everything is. Maybe someday Dan
<v Speaker 1>will load up New Game Plus and obliterate Guanee Tiro
<v Speaker 1>in the intro and feel that spark. Comeback time will tell,
<v Speaker 1>I guess, Regards Andrew.
<v Speaker 3>I do think I will definitely play this game again.
<v Speaker 3>You know, I played through elden Ring two or three times,
<v Speaker 3>and I could see this being even an easier one
<v Speaker 3>to go back to, just because like, Okay, I just
<v Speaker 3>want to do these boss fights again. And the way
<v Speaker 3>it's the way I go back to punch Out like
<v Speaker 3>numerous times a year, just to kind of get that rush,
<v Speaker 3>you know, I feel like I could feel that anytime
<v Speaker 3>with this guy.
<v Speaker 5>Well when we did that thing during the Extra Estreme
<v Speaker 5>where like you had me and Kayla fight Guane Tiros,
<v Speaker 5>as soon as I got back into it was like, oh,
<v Speaker 5>it's so good. I want to just play this entire
<v Speaker 5>game again right now. I can see this and there's
<v Speaker 5>still releasing anything else like it. Some games are a
<v Speaker 5>little bit then, Like I said, Liza p has the pairing,
<v Speaker 5>but yeah, Pacroo still very much feels like its own thing,
<v Speaker 5>And if you want that, if you really want the experience,
<v Speaker 5>you kind of just got to play.
<v Speaker 1>Sekero Trent from CU falls Rights in. This one's mostly
<v Speaker 1>for grub, but I liked everyone else's opinion as well.
<v Speaker 1>With the recent news of the chaos at Xbox over
<v Speaker 1>the past couple weeks, I can't help but think is
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation really in that much of a better spot their
<v Speaker 1>pivot to Live Service seems to have done more harm
<v Speaker 1>than good. Well, the games are technical and graphical showcases,
<v Speaker 1>but they take a lot of time and money to make.
<v Speaker 1>Look no further than Naughty Dog. They might not even
<v Speaker 1>release a game this generation unless the PS six is delayed.
<v Speaker 1>All this to say, is console games really really in
<v Speaker 1>a bad spot? Or is all of gaming in trouble
<v Speaker 1>right now? Sorry for the downer of an email, Love
<v Speaker 1>you guys and everything you've been doing. Trent from CU falls.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think every time this the conversation happens, we always
<v Speaker 2>kind of talk about PlayStations facing a lot of the
<v Speaker 2>same problems. The good news for PlayStation is they've got
<v Speaker 2>a lot of slack to work with over the next
<v Speaker 2>couple of years because they have defaulted into the sort
<v Speaker 2>of select position for console gaming. If you want to
<v Speaker 2>get a console right now, everyone's going to recommend you
<v Speaker 2>a PlayStation rightfully so, because you know the PlayStation games
<v Speaker 2>will come there, and a lot of the Xbox games
<v Speaker 2>will will probably come there as well as all the
<v Speaker 2>third party support, and then you know that's helping it
<v Speaker 2>stay right on target for sales. Like right it's selling
<v Speaker 2>as well as the PS four for the most Part,
<v Speaker 2>which was a very successful console for them, and then
<v Speaker 2>Grand Theft aut of six is still yet to come,
<v Speaker 2>and when that comes out, it's going to be available
<v Speaker 2>in two places, PlayStation and a console no one wants
<v Speaker 2>to buy. So it's just like they have a lot
<v Speaker 2>of time to figure things out. So like, that's like
<v Speaker 2>the good side of things. The tough side is it's
<v Speaker 2>hard to figure it out. If they would have they
<v Speaker 2>would have if they could have done it by now,
<v Speaker 2>they were like, what's next, how do we sort of
<v Speaker 2>build a sustainable business for the future when like, as
<v Speaker 2>we go through different kinds of growing pains and everything
<v Speaker 2>they've tried is not really worked other than spending astronomical
<v Speaker 2>amounts of money making bigger and bigger games, and they
<v Speaker 2>don't really want to do that anymore. That's what's not sustainable.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, they face a lot of the same problems.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Moving on. This one comes from Chuck zimmer held.
<v Speaker 5>H It's it's felled. Oh God, I knew, I knew,
<v Speaker 5>I knew he was gonna be upset about me not
<v Speaker 5>looking neo.
<v Speaker 1>He might write in next week. I love scary movies
<v Speaker 1>and I'm totally cool with gory stuff. But for some reason,
<v Speaker 1>video games with first person perspective and scary slash stress
<v Speaker 1>situations like Outlast or is an Evil Parentheses grace parts
<v Speaker 1>make me put the controller down even though I really
<v Speaker 1>want to play. How do I get gooder? Chuck Zimmer held,
<v Speaker 1>it's not real.
<v Speaker 4>Work?
<v Speaker 2>First thing you messaged me about this game, Guys, this
<v Speaker 2>is so stressful.
<v Speaker 4>I love it.
<v Speaker 5>I'm like the opposite where I'm like not great with
<v Speaker 5>scary movies, but I really don't mind playing scary video
<v Speaker 5>games at all. And I will say I play a
<v Speaker 5>lot of them when I'm streaming now, which does kind
<v Speaker 5>of help a bit because again, people, but I think
<v Speaker 5>the way you do it is like play it with somebody, right,
<v Speaker 5>like like, yeah, maybe see if you have a friend
<v Speaker 5>or a partner who wants to kind of watch you
<v Speaker 5>play the game, Like you know when people see horror
<v Speaker 5>movies are after doing your friends and they are kind
<v Speaker 5>of giggling and laughing at being scared together. I think
<v Speaker 5>if you have someone there to break the tension with
<v Speaker 5>you a little bit, that can go along way towards
<v Speaker 5>helping the.
<v Speaker 1>Third person with grace.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you third person with grace, just just switch it
<v Speaker 2>there's a reason it's there that'll help. I was definitely
<v Speaker 2>at a point with scary games where it's like it's
<v Speaker 2>not like I remember getting to the part and last
<v Speaker 2>of Us part two where you have to like walk
<v Speaker 2>into the obviously terrible hospital or whatever it was, and
<v Speaker 2>it's like that door is so ominous, I just don't
<v Speaker 2>want to go in there.
<v Speaker 4>I'm just gonna go play something else.
<v Speaker 3>There's the partner already say where you have to go
<v Speaker 3>down the stairs into that basement. It's like it's gonna
<v Speaker 3>be bad down there.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna be and it's like I have to like
<v Speaker 2>deal with like that, and then it's like it's gonna
<v Speaker 2>be stressful the entire time. And now with this game,
<v Speaker 2>where which definitely has its stressful scary parts, especially early on,
<v Speaker 2>it helped to play it handheld, honestly. It helped me,
<v Speaker 2>like sure to have it in my hand, to be
<v Speaker 2>like I'm holding the thing that.
<v Speaker 4>Is scary me.
<v Speaker 2>How it can't I'm holding it, come on, And that
<v Speaker 2>will help like trick my mind into being like, you
<v Speaker 2>don't you just not be scared if you don't want
<v Speaker 2>to be control. Yeah, I'm in control. I can literally
<v Speaker 2>just there's a button I could turn it off and
<v Speaker 2>it goes away. So it's like, yeah, that made it
<v Speaker 2>a lot easier to deal with.
<v Speaker 1>It also probably takes away from the experience. But if
<v Speaker 1>you just continue wanting to play the game, I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>put on a podcast, listen to some music outside of
<v Speaker 1>the game can help out as well, and you.
<v Speaker 2>Can sort of wean yourself off of that stuff as
<v Speaker 2>you like, Yeah, build up tolerance, because the first time
<v Speaker 2>you get introduced to like one of these monsters, that's
<v Speaker 2>the scariest moment. Then like that that's another like trick
<v Speaker 2>is Yeah, sometimes that's another trick. The first time you
<v Speaker 2>encounter a scary scenario, especially if you're playing on a
<v Speaker 2>mode where you can save a lot, just go run
<v Speaker 2>right into it and get killed. Just go run right
<v Speaker 2>at it, get killed, and you'd be like, Okay, now
<v Speaker 2>I've seen it, it's a little bit easier to deal with.
<v Speaker 2>The thing about Resident Evil is like, once you understand
<v Speaker 2>the logic of the zombies, it's not as scary. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>they don't even know I'm here and I'm basically walking
<v Speaker 2>past them.
<v Speaker 5>Still thinks the game aren't as scary as they see me. Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>can you realize the worst that can happen is that
<v Speaker 5>I have to reload a save right, So what I
<v Speaker 5>really great about?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? All right. Next email comes from Randy B. Jam
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to Japan for the first time. I'm leaving
<v Speaker 1>next Tuesday, March eighth. If you still have the info,
<v Speaker 1>would you be cool with providing me the address and
<v Speaker 1>general area of the awesome denim guy you found on
<v Speaker 1>your trip. I would be forever grateful, Thanks, Randy B. Randy,
<v Speaker 1>you go to Ginza Ginza g I n z A.
<v Speaker 1>You got a little shopping area. You go to Henoya One.
<v Speaker 1>There's multiple ones. Hanoya one is the best one. Hang
<v Speaker 1>out with my friend Rio. Rio and I became fast friends,
<v Speaker 1>as well as Alex Boniello. We all became best friends.
<v Speaker 1>We all took a picture together. It was lovely. If
<v Speaker 1>you need denim brand recommendations, they will do it for you.
<v Speaker 1>They'll just I eyeball you and will instantly know what
<v Speaker 1>size shape you like, what will be flattering for you.
<v Speaker 1>If you need recommendations from me, though, I highly suggest
<v Speaker 1>Burger jeans smelled like Burger.
<v Speaker 3>D just shake your pants off to make this point, No,
<v Speaker 3>I think there.
<v Speaker 2>Valkra on the side, just ripped them off like a
<v Speaker 2>Chippendale's dancer.
<v Speaker 1>It's a lovely shade of indigo denim. Look at these
<v Speaker 1>fucking fades on the back of my knees.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>And then if you want something else, if you want
<v Speaker 1>a fun recreation of old jens that miners used to use,
<v Speaker 1>and I mean miners.
<v Speaker 5>I dropped something. I dropped my titfoil. I've been playing
<v Speaker 5>with it. I've turned it into four sided dice. See.
<v Speaker 5>I told you it's fun to make it smooth.
<v Speaker 1>See you can show me how you're doing again.
<v Speaker 5>Oh yeah, it's like this.
<v Speaker 1>Which is bad. The other sugar cane sugarcane is lovely.
<v Speaker 4>Look at that. Look at that.
<v Speaker 1>It's great sugarcane denim. It's a heavier denim, so it's
<v Speaker 1>going to take a little bit longer to break in.
<v Speaker 1>And also if you're if you don't want to because
<v Speaker 1>with salvage denim, you don't want to wash it immediately.
<v Speaker 1>Just stick it in your freezer. It'll get rid of
<v Speaker 1>any other miscllaneous smells or bacteria. Don't ask me why.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know the science. I'm not I'm close to
<v Speaker 1>a gens doctor. I'm more of a Genes first responder.
<v Speaker 1>All right, moving on.
<v Speaker 2>Mike, have you ever made like one of those perfect
<v Speaker 2>foil spheres with like the perfect surface.
<v Speaker 5>Not like perfect? You think you really? You think you
<v Speaker 5>need some heavy machinery to get it that'smoothed down? I think,
<v Speaker 5>or maybe I'm just a coward.
<v Speaker 4>I think you might be a coward.
<v Speaker 2>I posted a clip on into the chat of someone
<v Speaker 2>doing this, so there you go.
<v Speaker 5>Get the man that delivery.
<v Speaker 2>I'm sorry to say if I pick cow.
<v Speaker 1>Right. We do have a lot of emails here, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna end the emails with this emailer. They use
<v Speaker 1>the username to write it Virtua Cat. Hi, friends, I
<v Speaker 1>hope you all are doing well now that we are
<v Speaker 1>twenty years on and the turmoil at Xbox has people
<v Speaker 1>wondering about the Xbox future. Is it viable to say
<v Speaker 1>that the Xbox three sixty was a fluke? Was a
<v Speaker 1>PS three launch so bad that the three sixty one
<v Speaker 1>by default your pal Virtua cat parentheses. Please don't use
<v Speaker 1>my real name even though it's in the email address.
<v Speaker 1>Thanks y'all, Sent from my iPhone, Barack Obama at Giant
<v Speaker 1>Bop dot com.
<v Speaker 3>I would not call it a Fluke in that I
<v Speaker 3>consider the first Xbox a success, and.
<v Speaker 2>That through sixty built on that concept very box line
<v Speaker 2>starting in Halo, like it was building to that.
<v Speaker 3>But it was like it felt to me at least
<v Speaker 3>like the three sixty was the one time Xbox was
<v Speaker 3>the dominant console.
<v Speaker 2>You know, yeah, we know what happened here is Yes,
<v Speaker 2>they had an idea of what an Xbox should be.
<v Speaker 2>Let's take direct X and make a console and we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna put a modem in there, or you know, we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna put a cable modem in there, or Ethernet so
<v Speaker 2>you could just get it connected to the Internet and
<v Speaker 2>that's gonna be great. And then the Xbox three sixties like,
<v Speaker 2>let's do all that and make it better, more streamlined,
<v Speaker 2>and more accessible to more people. And we're gonna people
<v Speaker 2>pay for online, so let's make it a premium experience.
<v Speaker 2>And it's like that all worked.
<v Speaker 4>It was very good.
<v Speaker 2>The game sold well, and then they noticed that people
<v Speaker 2>were using their Xbox three sixties to watch a lot
<v Speaker 2>of Netflix, and they're like, man, the people, like, we
<v Speaker 2>have the telemetry data here. People are buying this console
<v Speaker 2>and they're watching way more TV and movies than they're
<v Speaker 2>playing games, we need to get that money, and then
<v Speaker 2>the rest is history. They've they fucked up Xbox one
<v Speaker 2>by going that route. It completely sort of undermined their
<v Speaker 2>gaming right ability because they showed that they could be
<v Speaker 2>the jangling keys could distract them and they literally never
<v Speaker 2>recovered from that decision.
<v Speaker 3>And it's they asked about, like it was the PS
<v Speaker 3>three launch that terrible and I mean so Xbox had
<v Speaker 3>a year head start on it. So I mean Xbox
<v Speaker 3>you know, kind of got its foothold in like Call
<v Speaker 3>of Duty right when that was you know, really hot.
<v Speaker 4>That was it.
<v Speaker 3>That's the spring Like you know, Xbox had like a
<v Speaker 3>hell of a first year there BioShock.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>The thing is it was also the system itself was
<v Speaker 3>kind of fun. It just had like personality like the
<v Speaker 3>Blades people are a nostalgic four market, plugging your iPod
<v Speaker 3>into it and playing your own music and things like
<v Speaker 3>the XBLA stuff was huge achievements. All these things were
<v Speaker 3>really kind of fun. And the PS three came out
<v Speaker 3>and it just kind of felt clinical like the whole
<v Speaker 3>x and yeah, everything it just felt like like there's
<v Speaker 3>definitely good games on there, but like I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>it was like PS three launch like resistance, and it
<v Speaker 3>just didn't really have the personality Xbox.
<v Speaker 2>What's wild to me about all that is that the
<v Speaker 2>PS three was just worse than the Xbox three six
<v Speaker 2>and three sixty had like got worse as time went
<v Speaker 2>on because they kept breaking and they made the uy worse.
<v Speaker 5>Then it became a connect machine. But like you know,
<v Speaker 5>the three sixty was much better and cheaper than PlayStation three,
<v Speaker 5>and yet still ultimately that generation was kind of a tie,
<v Speaker 5>and PS three maybe even ultimately sold a little bit
<v Speaker 5>more when it was all said in the really so
<v Speaker 5>like were of that right going for Xbox, like in
<v Speaker 5>the generation that in our minds like, oh they won
<v Speaker 5>that one, and then like financially is.
<v Speaker 4>Close.
<v Speaker 2>Financially they certainly didn't because that billion dollar right off
<v Speaker 2>or wherever whatever it was so.
<v Speaker 5>Right exactly, So it's like and it's like, boyn they
<v Speaker 5>get can they get back to even that? And it
<v Speaker 5>just seems impossible.
<v Speaker 1>For me as a youth with the three sixty coming out.
<v Speaker 1>One of my best friends was like at the time,
<v Speaker 1>very die hard PlayStation console warrior type of guy, and
<v Speaker 1>it broke his heart when I bought an Xbox because
<v Speaker 1>he was like, we're never gonna play Were good?
<v Speaker 4>Were you? Were you friends with Chad Warden.
<v Speaker 6>Get him on the Truck.
<v Speaker 1>Of War that we would love coming over to play,
<v Speaker 1>like Halo three Local co Op and like not God
<v Speaker 1>Gears of War that he eventually because I had an
<v Speaker 1>Xbox three sixty and our other friends had a three sixty,
<v Speaker 1>he wound up getting one anyway because that's where all
<v Speaker 1>of our friends were at. So how it goes, and
<v Speaker 1>I think that's like what helped making the three sixty
<v Speaker 1>more popular.
<v Speaker 5>Also, that first half of that generation was just so
<v Speaker 5>in favor of three sixty. I think it was uncharted too,
<v Speaker 5>that kind of started turning a little bit, and then
<v Speaker 5>he went to the Xbox faltering a bit with I
<v Speaker 5>mean connect moves.
<v Speaker 2>I still think Xbox three sixty, like I would count
<v Speaker 2>it as winning that generation, despite the fact that PS
<v Speaker 2>like despite the game financial cost of the Red Ring,
<v Speaker 2>and despite PS three out selling it worldwide in the end,
<v Speaker 2>because it's like, yeah, it kept selling for years and
<v Speaker 2>years for people buying FIFA around the world and they
<v Speaker 2>always do that and they got that unlocked. But I'm
<v Speaker 2>more excited about what it's doing knew and different, and
<v Speaker 2>the Xbox three sixty got the Gold Medal for it.
<v Speaker 2>That generation, even when they started making poor decisions, like.
<v Speaker 3>I don't feel like sentiment wise, they ever really recovered
<v Speaker 3>from Like I remember being in that E three where
<v Speaker 3>it was just like a whole like the messaging, the doumatrics,
<v Speaker 3>stuff like use games, the fucking Adam Boys shoot video
<v Speaker 3>and it's just like, yes, that was just the biggest
<v Speaker 3>just like, oh, we have a very clear winner.
<v Speaker 1>Just in terms of messaging.
<v Speaker 3>The consoles hadn't even come out yet, but in terms
<v Speaker 3>of messaging, it's like, oh, Sony drounced them that E three,
<v Speaker 3>and I dore.
<v Speaker 2>The gamers became a thing that every when it was
<v Speaker 2>like actually saying like it was like it meant something,
<v Speaker 2>and it's like PlayStations four the game.
<v Speaker 6>I don't think they ever fully recovered from that.
<v Speaker 4>Yep.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, man, the Express one launch was just oh boy, five.
<v Speaker 2>Hundred dollars instead of four hundred. It was just the
<v Speaker 2>every bad decision.
<v Speaker 4>Yep.
<v Speaker 5>He had Rise actually, the Son of one and Plation four.
<v Speaker 5>Long games are funny because you have stuff it's like Rise.
<v Speaker 2>And Knack, right, Yeah, And I kind of like Rise
<v Speaker 2>and now they're both really weird launches that I do
<v Speaker 2>kind of like.
<v Speaker 3>A nostalgia retro gaming subreedit or something like, oh I
<v Speaker 3>found a hidden gym of the Xbox One.
<v Speaker 5>It's Rise.
<v Speaker 3>That is not a hidden job. There was a reason
<v Speaker 3>that one talks about ryse cin.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'd be like, if you, like, I could see
<v Speaker 2>someone committing themselves, like why don't people talk about this?
<v Speaker 4>It's like a man at the time. It just completely
<v Speaker 4>missed I.
<v Speaker 3>Got for writing a preview that was negative because previews
<v Speaker 3>were always supposed to be like it could be, it
<v Speaker 3>could turn out Okay.
<v Speaker 6>Rise was so fucking bad.
<v Speaker 3>I wanted the previews being like this shit sucks, and
<v Speaker 3>it's like you can't say that in the preview.
<v Speaker 5>Watch me all right?
<v Speaker 1>Boys? That about does it for emails once again, you
<v Speaker 1>can get your email right on the show, right in
<v Speaker 1>about any and everything. You got a question you want
<v Speaker 1>to remind us of the passage of time and that
<v Speaker 1>the three sixty was Was it actually that long ago?
<v Speaker 4>That hurts?
<v Speaker 2>Oh?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, one years launched? Yeah, it was over twenty years ago.
<v Speaker 1>Well guess the John bub dot com is the email
<v Speaker 1>dressing your emails too? Mike Manatti hit me with some
<v Speaker 1>super chests.
<v Speaker 5>If we got any, we got some. Last geek says,
<v Speaker 5>you should make a video of teaching Dan to use
<v Speaker 5>RSS feeds. It might be a good tutorial for everyone.
<v Speaker 1>Sure, man, make it a short even, just put it
<v Speaker 1>out there. Yeah yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Martin Hollis says, as soon as Jam mentioned the one showed,
<v Speaker 5>that theme went through my head. Everyone, Hey, I don't
<v Speaker 5>want to go to work today. I want to stay
<v Speaker 5>home and play video video games. Yeah. Yeah, the One
<v Speaker 5>Up Show.
<v Speaker 1>I tell y'all that I applied to be an intern
<v Speaker 1>at One Up and then like, I didn't get it,
<v Speaker 1>and it devastated me, and I didn't want anything to
<v Speaker 1>do with games for a very long time.
<v Speaker 2>I was a runner up for a win trip to
<v Speaker 2>go to E three with One Up, and then Jim
<v Speaker 2>Frank got it instead, and I was like, Wow, that
<v Speaker 2>seems right.
<v Speaker 4>She's much better. Ye made sense?
<v Speaker 5>Uh. Tony Morrow says, if I send Dan a copy
<v Speaker 5>of Virtuoso, can heward a mic and find some old
<v Speaker 5>Blake Club Love eighteen twelve or something to have him
<v Speaker 5>we started Blake like said he would if he got
<v Speaker 5>a physical penis. I said that non non legally binding.
<v Speaker 5>I didn't even know if I said it like that. Also, no,
<v Speaker 5>I'm not going to restart Virtuoso. There's just no way.
<v Speaker 2>So send it to me and I'll keep it safe
<v Speaker 2>in case he just changes his mind.
<v Speaker 5>Nobody wants to watch me play the first two thirds
<v Speaker 5>of Virtuoso again. Hey wait, what was.
<v Speaker 3>The physical penis thing?
<v Speaker 4>Janna?
<v Speaker 3>Your facial expression, but I think match what was going
<v Speaker 3>on with the physical penis.
<v Speaker 5>So if you got a physical So when you do
<v Speaker 5>a super chat, you get so many characters based on
<v Speaker 5>what you spend. So people like to make sure they
<v Speaker 5>get their money's worth, so sometimes they'll add penis there
<v Speaker 5>to fill it out.
<v Speaker 1>I see, Oh I'm not happy back, No.
<v Speaker 4>One is.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, well we'll we'll sink your your audio file
<v Speaker 1>in later.
<v Speaker 5>Jeff, thank you. Jega makes He says that Sarah bond
<v Speaker 5>Leaves joined his Majesty's Secret.
<v Speaker 4>Service because her last name.
<v Speaker 5>I think I would have figured that out sooner. No,
<v Speaker 5>I do want to.
<v Speaker 4>I bet you wind.
<v Speaker 5>I bet she wants to. I don't want dont mean boring.
<v Speaker 5>I bet you'll get a very nice job. It'll be
<v Speaker 5>some place like boring, you know, I don't know, like
<v Speaker 5>she'll become like like the coo of Kleenex. J Man said, sure, Hey, Mike,
<v Speaker 5>I missed your demonstration of bawling up info. You demonstrate
<v Speaker 5>that again. I've been working on this.
<v Speaker 2>It's what do you call this because it's a pyramid? No,
<v Speaker 2>it's not a pyramidhedron or something.
<v Speaker 5>It's not ature. There's sides. It's rounded, but how many
<v Speaker 5>sides are there? There are four sides, so it's a
<v Speaker 5>four sided die polyhedron. Anyways, it's it's probably it's probably
<v Speaker 5>a poly.
<v Speaker 3>Like doing everything you're doing on camera a demonstration.
<v Speaker 1>I think you're doing it now to get a that everyone.
<v Speaker 2>They paid money for you to do that. You're gonna
<v Speaker 2>get us to os.
<v Speaker 4>All right, you can't do that for money.
<v Speaker 5>Megsy says, Hey, Jeff Grabb, have you watched the Raid yet?
<v Speaker 1>I have not watched the Raid yet?
<v Speaker 6>Oh you haven't seen either Raid movie neither.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, I know, I know, I need, we need to
<v Speaker 4>correct this. I'm well aware.
<v Speaker 6>Yes they are.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I listened by the By the next time we're
<v Speaker 2>together and have like an evening where we're not doing anything,
<v Speaker 2>if I haven't watched it by then, I'll ask these
<v Speaker 2>guys if they'll put on the raid for.
<v Speaker 5>God.
<v Speaker 2>I understand, Well, that's of course packs we're gonna.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, of course, of course.
<v Speaker 5>Then last week says Dan, I'm a YouTuber going to
<v Speaker 5>Minneapolis a couple of days. What are good places to
<v Speaker 5>make a vlog of slash with?
<v Speaker 6>What's the biggert like?
<v Speaker 1>What you you too? Like? What does that mean?

<v Speaker 5>just gonna go once this neat check.

<v Speaker 3>like like a food focus thing, a nature focused thing.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, Like yeah, he.
<v Speaker 5>Says, if you were going to make up log with
<v Speaker 5>Giant Bomb, what would you show?
<v Speaker 1>Oh, that's a fun mental exercise. Our respective towns.
<v Speaker 5>Show matts yeah, yeah, that's interesting.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>If I go to, like, you know, a city like
<v Speaker 3>we did the New York one, the travelog or whatever, like,
<v Speaker 3>what would we do here?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>That probably just what we would do anyway, we is
<v Speaker 3>probably get burgers and go to the Mall of America
<v Speaker 3>and ship kang.
<v Speaker 1>I went to a Martini bar in Oakland, and I
<v Speaker 1>still don't know if I like Martini's. I like olives,
<v Speaker 1>but I was too full that day. If they had
<v Speaker 1>an extensive hot dog menu, I think I might go
<v Speaker 1>later today. I'm gonna share share with all the menu
<v Speaker 1>because it was fantastic. It reminded me of the place
<v Speaker 1>we all went to in New York. Oh yeah, Crift Dogs, Yes, yes,
<v Speaker 1>of course. Oh yeah, that's right, dirty airy tall boys.
<v Speaker 1>But they are vegan hot dogs.

<v Speaker 1>Mike NAUGHTI later today.
<v Speaker 5>Yes, I am going to be checking out the New
<v Speaker 5>World of Warcraft expansion midnight. I have not played this
<v Speaker 5>yet at all, so I'm going to make a new character,
<v Speaker 5>use my level, just jump in and see what's going on.
<v Speaker 5>I have not played while since I messed around with
<v Speaker 5>the last expansion for for a bit there, so I'm
<v Speaker 5>gonna be really jumping in there. We'll see what kind
<v Speaker 5>of character I want to make, and maybe we'll make
<v Speaker 5>a house too. That's the whole thing going on there too.
<v Speaker 5>There's a lot. You know, this is going to be
<v Speaker 5>a couple hours here, so we'll see what we get into.
<v Speaker 5>But uh, yeah, I'm looking into it. Haven't really done
<v Speaker 5>any MMO content on this.
<v Speaker 1>What's the whole Zillow World of Warcraft thing?
<v Speaker 5>So there's a new player housing thing going on, a
<v Speaker 5>World of Warcraft and uh, I don't know they've partner
<v Speaker 5>up with Zillo somehow to tie into that. I don't
<v Speaker 5>know exactly what that owned.
<v Speaker 4>That sucks.
<v Speaker 1>I don't like that. I already can't ever buy a house.
<v Speaker 1>I don't need it in my video games.
<v Speaker 5>I don't think you're like, I don't Is it actually
<v Speaker 5>people are using Zilla to buy houses? In the game
<v Speaker 5>or is it more I hope it's more quote unquote
<v Speaker 5>cute than that.
<v Speaker 1>I hope it's cuter.

<v Speaker 5>Don't worry.

<v Speaker 1>the spirit.
<v Speaker 5>Bomb never did ship, right, Like, who did that? Actually?

<v Speaker 5>real world of getting people to give their energy to it.
