Speaker 1: NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast. All Right, welcome, It is Championship weekend of the NFL Cover zero podcast. We are going on a Thursday getting ready for the two championship games on Sunday, AFC NFC. Drew Franklin is here with me along with Billy our Sports and Drew. I have really enjoyed these playoffs. There have been some great games, only a couple of duds. Everybody's been into it. It's been exciting. With that said, I can't get the fever about these two championship games. Help me get some fever about what's happening. Help me get some hot Sam Darnold, Jared Stidham, Drake May, Matthew Stafford fever.

00:01:08
Speaker 2: You know all year, you know AFC is the loaded conference.

00:01:11
Speaker 3: But now that we're here, I'm more excited about the NFC game because of that bow Knicks injury. I wish Bonnicks were healthy. Completely changes the dynamic dynamic of the game. Maybe they win, but from an excitement standpoint, haven't stit them. Respectfully, A guy hasn't thrown a pass in two years started. An AFC Championship game feels weird.

00:01:28
Speaker 1: So yeah, let's talk just submitted about what Jared Stidham is. He has not thrown a pass in two years.

00:01:36
Speaker 2: Two right, has not attempted a pass. That's a fairly amazing fact.

00:01:42
Speaker 1: He's thrown a pass, not even like, not even tried to hit on a woman, not even an.

00:01:47
Speaker 2: Old school pass. So he's just been run only his only pass.

00:01:53
Speaker 3: Once he throws one this weekend, will be in the AFC Championship in three years.

00:01:56
Speaker 2: Like I didn't.

00:01:57
Speaker 3: I didn't do him a week nine, didn't even get in for a series week three, just AFC Championship.

00:02:03
Speaker 1: So I did think it would be helpful though, for people so that they could learn about him, for me to give some facts, oh got, because they need to learn about Jared Stidham. Okay, Jared Stidham was born in nineteen ninety six in Corbin, Kentucky place.

00:02:16
Speaker 2: You know, well, no Corbyn, very well as far as that from your home, forty five minutes from where I grew up.

00:02:22
Speaker 1: First, KFC is there. They have a festival there which is just the word Corbyn spelled backwards that they call the Nimrock's my favorite festival anywhere.

00:02:33
Speaker 2: What a terrible name, but a beautiful name. You don't like Nimbrock. They corbin backwards.

00:02:40
Speaker 1: So like, is there any other city in America that could go with a backward city?

00:02:48
Speaker 2: I have one for you? Oh you do? Uh? Croy Win, New York, New York. There we go.

00:02:57
Speaker 1: New York could say it's the annual kroy Win Festival.

00:03:00
Speaker 3: Corbyn has the benefit it's a music festival and they have rock in the word nim rock exactly.

00:03:06
Speaker 2: That's hard to tell. Allas Salad, Oh, that might be the best one. They don't have a salad festival a salad festival. I mean maybe because it's two l's they would call it a salad salad a salad festival. But that is still I think that one that one works. Does any can anyone think of any other? Uh? Good ones? I'm Aim Miami, my name, I'm Aim. Do you understand trying here? I'm trying to I'm Aim. I like it. Sagiv Vegas, There we go, Sagiv. You gotta add the loss though, what would that be? Sagive salad? Sgive salad. That sounds like an expensive place to visit.

00:03:52
Speaker 1: First of all, it does it sounds like it would be hard to get a table at Sago Salad.

00:03:55
Speaker 2: You're going to Saga Salad. Wow, it's like a honeymoon bad Bunnies playing at Saga of Sala this year. My cousin could get us in. I think that works. Let me think real quick and Cincinnati.

00:04:13
Speaker 1: I'm trying to a at Nalta, Atlanta Atlantis at Nalta. That also sounds like that could be something that's an island in Greece at Nalta.

00:04:23
Speaker 2: Do you think this is how they let off Good Morning Football this morning? Just probably?

00:04:27
Speaker 1: I'm just saying Jared Stidham could start because he's from Corb and if he goes to Super Bowl could start a whole wave of people who have festivals with their city name backwards. And Dallas has to be next. Yes, the salad festival Salad I have salad. I think makes perfect sense. So I'm just saying for for for those of you that have hoped for this idea for a long time, probably none of you. If you have, you're going to be rooting for Jared Stindham. I'm going to be rooting for Jared Stidham because I hate the Patriots not even the Patriots. I hate Bill Simmons being happy really which is an example, but really just but let me give me example what Bill Simmons does. And again, I listened to Bill Simmons every week and like him. I have such an odd relationship with this person in the sense that I don't miss this podcast but also wish he wouldn't talk.

00:05:24
Speaker 2: How's that possible? You choose to listen to it such I know, and I choose to listen like he does the fifty most rewatchable movies of the twenty first century. I'm like, I gotta watch that, And then I just get mad. How can you pick that movie?

00:05:37
Speaker 3: And You've been following Bill Simmons since I've known you. I page two stories.

00:05:43
Speaker 2: Back, and let's be real.

00:05:44
Speaker 1: I remember the first time I read Bill Simmons sitting on the toilet at Wilmer Cutler and Pickering as a summer associate in the summer of two thousand and one.

00:05:55
Speaker 3: Wow, I nopending of a moment, you exactly where you were sitting.

00:06:00
Speaker 2: I would.

00:06:02
Speaker 1: I hated being a lawyer at Wilmer cut Learn Pickering. Good people, but it was a summer associate.

00:06:09
Speaker 2: I hated it. I didn't know.

00:06:10
Speaker 3: Bill Simmons was one of these moments where you always remember where you were.

00:06:14
Speaker 1: I had to wear a suit every day. I lived in DC, not intentionally. That's where Wilmur Cutler got me their apartment.

00:06:24
Speaker 2: You go where the business?

00:06:25
Speaker 1: Well, every time I would go, like ask a taxi again, pre uber, I asked a taxi to take me home.

00:06:30
Speaker 2: The taxi driver would look at me and go, oh, what you want? I promise you I live here.

00:06:38
Speaker 1: I would walk from tenth and M in DC to Wilmur Cutler and Pickering, which was on like thirty third and M, in a suit in the summer. So I'd be hot, right, I'd be hot. I'd get there and you know what, they had all open windows everybody.

00:06:55
Speaker 2: Could see and you had to sit at your desk. You had to sit with your jacket on. It was.

00:07:00
Speaker 1: It was miserable. So the only time I knew that I could be left alone if I went and set on the toilet.

00:07:08
Speaker 2: Did nine times a day without even using the bathroom. You think, because the thing they won't question you on is the toilet. I'll get you in trouble the answer to your question, right, So I would and remember it.

00:07:22
Speaker 1: This is just a few months before nine to eleven, everybody was a lot more laid back. I would print off the latest I think every Tuesday, Bill Simmons would have a page two column. It would be fourteen pages long, and I would sit and waste a good thirty minute. So I've had a long relationship with this man. Sounds intimates coming towards twenty five years. Wow, But I hate how happy he gets with the Patriots, And like today, I listened to this just before I came here. He's like, so the catch by the Patriots on Sunday, in my opinion, is one of the seven best catches by the Patriots in a playoff game. Let's go over him. And I was like, no, no one wants that. But then he does and I still listen. So I want him to lose.

00:08:04
Speaker 4: Is the point?

00:08:05
Speaker 3: Well, if you follow some for twenty five years and they're a Boston sports fan, they'nt have a lot of success that you're guys, they've had.

00:08:11
Speaker 1: A ton of Red Sox too much during that period of time. You know, they've won all those Super Bowls, The Red Sox won their first World Series when then won a couple. The Celtics have been really good the Bruins, maybe even like it's just been too much Billy, and I want him to be sad, not unlike his day to day bab but I want him to be sports set.

00:08:31
Speaker 5: I felt like we were getting there with Kansas City though, with all the Patrick mahomes and the winning he was doing.

00:08:35
Speaker 2: Well.

00:08:35
Speaker 1: They're not good at any other sport, right, so they're not good at baseball, they're not good at bads. They don't have a basketball team or a hockey team, so what's okay?

00:08:45
Speaker 2: It's not the same dominances that the entire city. And I don't do you know any Kansas City people like who like fans, like media like they're Boston people. On every station, there's Boston people. Name me a famous Kansas City media Jason Anderson.

00:09:02
Speaker 1: No one listening to this knows who Jason is. And I like Jason's It's not the same.

00:09:07
Speaker 2: It's not And Boston gave lots of us. They've they've had too much fun and now I appreciate we thank you for the tea party. It helped. Paul Revere there, he was good. I like what he did.

00:09:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, big Paul Revere again, Sam Adams, great beer.

00:09:27
Speaker 2: Thank you. I've been up there, did the tour, but I like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck have you seen the new movie yet? It's on my list?

00:09:36
Speaker 3: But I feel like I've been saying that for some movies for six years that just keeps getting pushed away.

00:09:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, point bean, I don't want them to succeed. And uh and and that's that's really what you're driving me to be pro Jared Stidham.

00:09:51
Speaker 2: I didn't give you a lot of facts. I got stuck at Nibrock. I was just one facing number ten, and then moved to Stevensville, Texas, where he went to elementary school, and then he went to Stephenville High School and he was named the sixth best dual threat quarter We're back in his class. I remember him being a hot target.

00:10:09
Speaker 1: He committed to Texas Tech but then later changed to Baylor. But then after Baylor, things didn't work out so well, so he went to Auburn, which is where he played his college football. And I may add was the twenty eighteen Music City Bowl MVP.

00:10:25
Speaker 2: So this quarterback right before bow Knicks. So they went Auburn to Denver. You could argue this has been his biggest game. Since the twenty eighteen Music City Bowl, which is bigger. We're big Music City Bowl guys.

00:10:41
Speaker 3: This has got to be a pinch yourself moment for him, you know, being an athlete, he's got to have the confidence there wouldn't.

00:10:46
Speaker 2: Be where he is.

00:10:47
Speaker 3: But what a world where you're just an earpiece clipboard guy for two seasons and we're not just throwing you into the playoffs. It is the Patriots and if you win, you are the starting quarterback in the Super Bowl.

00:10:58
Speaker 1: Yes, okay, I found this on the Three interesting football facts about Jared stiddelem Okay, Jared Stidham was picked in the fourth round and he and he selected the number four as his jersey for the Patriots. Is who's select him? Because he was picked in the fourth round. It was an honor because he was the first Patriots player since Adam Vineri to wear the number four.

00:11:23
Speaker 2: Oh I took Vinitari's number and retire it? Well maybe when they got Stidh them they're like, I don't know if we should retire yet.

00:11:29
Speaker 3: Maybe, but to me, is that an honor? I think so that's a legend. People still probably wearing Vinitary jerseys around. You could say you know that.

00:11:38
Speaker 2: Was me too. Yes.

00:11:41
Speaker 1: His first start happened in twenty twenty during the COVID season when he was third string for the Patriots. Cam Newton and backup Brian Hoyer both got COVID the same week, which allowed Jared Stidham to start.

00:11:59
Speaker 2: He probably had a shot. It's a big moment in that locker room vaccine awareness. He is right soon, so we know he is provax and we also know that he appreciates the history of the number.

00:12:18
Speaker 3: Four provacs or social distance, one of the two. He was just cautious, knowing he didn't want to lose his opportunity. And he comes back home to play the Patriots.

00:12:25
Speaker 2: Right, and he comes back home. That's exactly right.

00:12:27
Speaker 3: Mike Vrabels said that they called about adding Stidham this year. We're kind of checking in see if he was available because they trust him so much as a backup.

00:12:35
Speaker 1: And now, finally last year, after signing a two year, twelve million dollar extension with the Broncos, in which he got seven million dollars guaranteed, he only had one play of the season. He came in to kneel down on the final play of the Broncos victory over the Cowboys. No, those it's not a great sign when those are the three facts that are considered the most interesting about your player career. But say, lovey it Instidham Tom. It's gotta be cool. Also seeing the Patriots team, he knows well, they know him, they liked him there. I mean he's a backup. Backups are always lovable, so a huge a moment f him. I just I wish he had played a little bit of football, so I know what we're looking.

00:13:21
Speaker 2: At them is no tape. No tape. They can't prepare.

00:13:25
Speaker 1: Here's what they may not know since the last time he's played he's left handed.

00:13:31
Speaker 2: Found out one doctors hasn't changed everything.

00:13:35
Speaker 1: It's gonna throw everything off for They're going to have their entire defense projecting him to roll right.

00:13:42
Speaker 2: But he is going to roll left. And now they're not gonna be rent.

00:13:46
Speaker 3: Rosters and coaches have changed. But maybe he knows the Patriots playbook or at least knows his way around the building.

00:13:52
Speaker 2: That'll help.

00:13:55
Speaker 3: Hard to know you guys have this playbook from five years ago.

00:13:59
Speaker 2: That's gonna help a lot. But so should be exciting. Now I'll be betting these did him over on touchdowns. What do you think it is? Bet two?

00:14:10
Speaker 1: I assume it's probably one and a half one and a half, but maybe I'm going two plus.

00:14:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, big Stidham game won't pick a win, but he's gonna he's gonna.

00:14:18
Speaker 1: Perform who plus Yeah, you think my man's gonna throw two touchdowns?

00:14:22
Speaker 3: Big time players made big time plays in big time games. And he is from the home.

00:14:26
Speaker 2: Of nib Rock. And there's nothing bigger with brighter lights than Nimbrock. Well, Nibrock salad uh saggi sagi sal The.

00:14:37
Speaker 3: Big one was the high flutin one. Was that the sagasw saga. It was how you pronounced it. I think, yeah, oh wow, it just got more expensive visiting there just doubled in price.

00:14:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So now there's other news besides Jared Stidham, and Billy is here to bring us some of that Billy give us some Hitler.

00:14:57
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:14:57
Speaker 5: Shortly after we recorded on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills fired Sean McDermott after their loss to the Broncos. He was ninety eight and fifty in nine years with the Bills, but eight and eight in the playoffs. Owner Terry Pagula commented on the firing of Sean McDermott, citing the visible distress of many players in the locker room as a big reason why he made the change. He said, quote, I saw the pain in Josh's face at his press conference, and I felt his pain. I know we can do better, and I know we will get better.

00:15:26
Speaker 1: I was a little surprised by this. You know, to me, he's had such a good run. It's not his fault McDermott that they lost the game. I don't know why they think a new coach is going to make a huge difference. If anything, you might blame the GM for not having enough offensive weapons. I mean, I actually thought this was not a smart decision. But what about you surprise me?

00:15:52
Speaker 3: I mean, I know they haven't gotten to their ultimate goal, but to me in the conversation, every year and have a shot seems weird to fire coach and hindsight ed. You know, maybe Alan didn't want him. I don't know their dynamic, but with it is there reports that that's no no, I'm just saying when Allen was crying and saying it was on me, was that like trying to to keep it off of him?

00:16:12
Speaker 2: In that moment. I don't know. Well, that makes it even more maybe where that they'd fire him. Yeah, so that's what I'm saying.

00:16:17
Speaker 3: I don't know their dynamic, but that could have been the case because we know how Allen was over the top and trying to put it all on himself.

00:16:23
Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, I don't get it. I mean I meant to hire. They've allowed three coaches have lost their jobs who to me have done really well, Tom Win, Harbaugh and now him. I mean, maybe what are the chances that the next coach for the Ravens, Steelers or Bills does better than those three?

00:16:49
Speaker 1: How many of them do you think will make a hire that is more successful than the guy they fired.

00:16:53
Speaker 2: That's why I think it's so crazy with him. He's been knocking on the door. I mean, sure, they just lost a road game, but I mean you're in the second round of the playoffs, so that means you trust your search is going to go find someone that will have you but the bare minimum in the AFC.

00:17:06
Speaker 1: But let's just go more specific, because I mean, these are also teams that are full of veterans. Which of those how many of those three franchises over the next three years will be better than they were the three years before.

00:17:19
Speaker 3: The Steelers I don't think will be because they don't have a quarterback. I mean, if you think they're going to be better the same situation, both Bills inspiring Corbeck. I see Allen having a little more life than Aaron Rodgers and even Lamar I agree, But do you think they will do better than No? No, no, that's my point. That's why I think they've been to back.

00:17:37
Speaker 1: I mean, they've been to two of the three last AFC championship games.

00:17:41
Speaker 3: That's why the Bills specific the Steelers kind of think it was good for both parties, even though Tomlin's great, and I don't think the results of the reason the mcderwin one blows my mind. I mean, yeah, I guess they could have. Would you let won the game at Denver? But you're gonna go make a higher that would have won that game. I don't think those people are out there.

00:17:56
Speaker 5: Mc dermott, no, even though he should have answered for giving up thirty three points as a defensive head coach.

00:18:01
Speaker 2: I mean that's that's I mean, what did you want to want him to do?

00:18:04
Speaker 4: I don't know.

00:18:04
Speaker 2: I'm jump in front of a train like he said that they had to do.

00:18:07
Speaker 5: I mean he should have some responsibility to that. I'm not saying what does that mean?

00:18:10
Speaker 1: Always when people say that, what do they mean should have some responsibility?

00:18:14
Speaker 2: What should he do? He should take some criticism, cut off his pinky.

00:18:16
Speaker 5: I mean, maybe focus on the defensive side of the ball, not drafting Keon Coleman, which we can get to in a second.

00:18:22
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so.

00:18:24
Speaker 1: Let's go to that part because that's part of it too. What happened with Keon Coleman.

00:18:28
Speaker 5: Terry Bagoula, the owner for the Bills, kept Brandon Bean as general manager despite firing Sean McDermott, and he was noticing all the heat that Brandon Bean was getting on drafting Keon Coleman. So the owner, Terry went out and said, the coaching staff pushed to draft Keon. I'm not saying Brandon wouldn't have drafted him, but he wasn't his next choice. That was Brandon being a team player and taking the advice of his coaching staff who felt strongly about the player.

00:18:55
Speaker 1: What's still on you though? First of all, even if I think all that's true, two things. One still on the gus.

00:19:02
Speaker 3: Favorite party they're talking like he came in and burned down the building. He's on your roster. And second he's on the team. He's right there, he's on the team. Like he like he didn't move. You gotta go see him. You gotta be like, hey, man, you know what I said.

00:19:22
Speaker 2: We shouldn't have picked you.

00:19:25
Speaker 1: It's true, but we still need you to play well, Like, how do you I don't understand either of those comments.

00:19:31
Speaker 2: The GM Okay, he was listening to his coach. Well, it's still on you. Secondly, Kean is right there and young it's like second year. Yeah.

00:19:42
Speaker 3: I mean they're having this press conference and on the other side of the wall, Keon Coleman is lifting weights to get better for next season and.

00:19:49
Speaker 1: Then catches an unnecessary strike. Kevin is like excited for the offseason, gotta get focused. I could do better and I'm gonna do better. But they're talking about him in the next room like he sabotaged the organization and left and he's not even in Buffalo anymore. No, he is in your wide receiver room and is in theory part of your offense the next season.

00:20:09
Speaker 2: Or two now. Brandon be Indeeds say later in the press conference. He was my pick. I made the pick.

00:20:14
Speaker 5: Terry's point was that we might have had a different order of personnel versus coaching.

00:20:20
Speaker 2: But but see that's even more of a compound answer. Right.

00:20:26
Speaker 1: Do you think if Keon Coleman had been successful, he would have come out and said I actually wanted someone else. No, but Sean talked me into him.

00:20:37
Speaker 2: No.

00:20:37
Speaker 1: I mean, there's nothing worse than not accepting responsibility for a decision that you did make. Right, he did make, so I just and then it's almost like he's putting the whole failure of the McDermott regime on Keon Coleman.

00:20:55
Speaker 3: There's also this thing that I think people forget exist videos and the Internet today has been sharing NonStop videos of being on Draft night, in in interviews talking about how bad he wants Coleman.

00:21:06
Speaker 2: So whatever narrative they're trying to paint, now we have clips of him saying it's keyon and things like that, so we can just go to the tape and know who they wanted. But even if the coach did force.

00:21:17
Speaker 3: Him into it, if you're a GM, you can't admit that the coach is pushing you around in the call from your job. So you're either you either drafted him or admitting you don't even have enough clout in your own room to make the pick.

00:21:29
Speaker 2: The coaches are doing it for you.

00:21:44
Speaker 1: By the way, there's some breaking news here. The NFL and the Competition.

00:21:47
Speaker 2: Committee are not planning to make major changes to the catch rule, although they could take steps to promote better understanding of the rulings. What is that going to be Like you're going to hire a PR team.

00:22:00
Speaker 1: Teaching children in schools. Here's don't understand what the what the rule is?

00:22:05
Speaker 3: Here's your florid, we're gonna check you for lice, and now this is how you complete a catch, young kid.

00:22:10
Speaker 1: I've never I've never understood the rule because it's not the same rule when you are like in play is when you're going to the end zone or out of bounds, it's not the same rule. Like you're down, but then you're not down until you roll over and like sing a.

00:22:27
Speaker 3: Lullaby, you have to declare to the ref that you caught it.

00:22:31
Speaker 1: Yes, But I don't know why declaring is part of it. There should be no declaration. It should be objective. We don't ask these receivers to go, oh, you my clown that I've cult the ball.

00:22:47
Speaker 3: I get they're saying complete the catch, but it seems referees don't agree on what's completely.

00:22:52
Speaker 2: You're done those rolls six times. I don't understand. Understand you're down when your knee hits the ground, right, I don't say that.

00:23:00
Speaker 3: If it's a catch, you have to complete the catch. Why to show you have possession?

00:23:05
Speaker 1: I guess, but I am down for fumbling purposes when I'm touched with my knee on the ground. Why am I not down for catching purposes?

00:23:16
Speaker 2: I guess you can get an image where you have two hands on the ball and a knee down, But do you really have possession?

00:23:22
Speaker 1: I mean, do I really exist or in my figment of the matrix's imagination? On some level, I have to have some objective truth, mister Kant, I'm with you.

00:23:33
Speaker 2: I'm with you.

00:23:34
Speaker 5: Well, you're supposed to make a football move after you make the catch. You got a stiff arm, you gotta That's why you have to survive the ground. That would be your football move in this instance, would it not?

00:23:44
Speaker 2: I have to survive the ground?

00:23:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, you have to make the catch. It's like des Bryant back in the day, heat's the famous one. I mean, hit the ground ball, came out.

00:23:52
Speaker 2: Roll over a little bit.

00:23:53
Speaker 1: But you say it happened in the past, doesn't mean it's a good rule.

00:23:57
Speaker 5: Now, if you made a football move and then you with your knee two steps, what's the football two steps in possession?

00:24:04
Speaker 3: But what if I'm falling down, I can't make two steps and dogs I hope to catch. I have to complete the catch.

00:24:09
Speaker 2: But I mean sometimes they'll make you roll over and bark before I can't. I can't speak to the barking. I like that they're hiring a PR team to help them. Well it's not. I mean, maybe we're the PR team.

00:24:22
Speaker 1: I don't completely understand it now, and I but maybe with the with the help of these explanations, I will.

00:24:30
Speaker 2: All right, what's the next one.

00:24:32
Speaker 5: We have a couple of new offensive coordinator hires in the National Football League too, we'll talk about now. Mike McDaniels is going to become the Chargers offensive coordinator, teaming up with Jim Harbaugh and Eric b. Enemy is going to return to Kansas City and become the offensive coordinator once again.

00:24:48
Speaker 2: Eric's sleeping with the enemy. First of all, might me Daniel.

00:24:56
Speaker 1: Odd to choose to be an offensive coordinator when supposedly he was up for other jobs. Is this a I wasn't going to get the jobs, so I am. I am getting out before you get rid of me. Or do you think he thinks that being the Chargers offensive coordinator is better to get him a better job than Cleveland, Tennessee or whatever was open.

00:25:20
Speaker 2: For I lean that one.

00:25:21
Speaker 3: The second option of let me do a whole over year look great with his offense and Herbert on a team that's probably better.

00:25:28
Speaker 2: Than how they've another playoff team, but then.

00:25:30
Speaker 3: They probably have more on what they've shown. He thinks he can help break that through. But also part of me thought, you know la by McDaniel, Oh.

00:25:39
Speaker 2: You think he's going to party. That's interesting.

00:25:41
Speaker 1: I hadn't thought about that. So he's been in Miami, he's used to going to the clubs. After a big win. He goes to eleven.

00:25:49
Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't know that was a club until I just saw all the Indiana people went. Did you see that big party? Yeah, they went to I guess it's the one of the big night clubs. And they all went, but they were all dressed in like jeans, we never would have gone into jeans.

00:26:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, they wouldn't have gotten any And so they the club had to just agree, we will let in all these yokels, and we will bring our dress code down.

00:26:11
Speaker 2: For the night. I know Mendoza wasn't out there partying. Was oh he was. Yeah, there's any of them now. I can't tell you how hard he was in eleven. The fact that I know a name of a club in Miami is crazy in and of itself. Get ready to learn San Francisco Club.

00:26:25
Speaker 1: Now those already have the promoters twelve. Yeah, that'd be nice. Just across the street, open up a club called twelve. We are them plus one. So maybe he just he's used to They can't imagine moving from Miami to Cleveland.

00:26:47
Speaker 3: And then like Cleveland with an unknown quarterback and almost certainly gonna get fired in three years.

00:26:54
Speaker 2: Tennessee. I mean maybe, unless you just don't believe in cam Ward. I think he failed the Tennessee interview when I saw his outfit that was not a serious outfit at the airport. Yeah, I think he was going. He was doing Baltimore and Tennessee. They went home, you know that he went home and change first.

00:27:08
Speaker 3: He should have to. He should have went home and change before he got an uber. But I do think there's something too. It's hardball, there's a quarterback I can win with. It's la.

00:27:18
Speaker 2: All I gotta do is go make this offense look good. My phone's gonna ring again pretty quickly. Yeah, I mean that may be true. I don't have to be in front of the cameras.

00:27:26
Speaker 1: I'm a huge pay difference between that and the head coach.

00:27:30
Speaker 2: It's true.

00:27:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just a little surprised by it. But he also may have thought, well, I'm not gonna get any these jobs except Cleveland.

00:27:36
Speaker 2: I don't want to go there. Like I said, I'm gonna be fired. And then what I'm not gonna be doing?

00:27:40
Speaker 1: And then because you're not gonna get a third chance? I mean there is that there is a partial where you can't fail three times. You can fail once, you can't fail three times. And then what did you say was the other one?

00:27:51
Speaker 2: Eric b Enemy? Yeah? Uh, I I.

00:27:57
Speaker 1: Was surprised. I thought, like I'm not. I knew he wasn't the oc of of Kansas City. He had been where I think it was Chicago.

00:28:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, he had like it was a position coach running backs or something. Yeah, but he left. He left on his own, didn't he from Kansas City?

00:28:16
Speaker 5: He wasn't getting head coaching jobs like that was because every year his name came up, right, So he went to the Commanders for a little bit as an assistant, and that's where I knew he.

00:28:25
Speaker 2: Was in college. Went to college for a year.

00:28:29
Speaker 1: Why do you think he can't get a job. Do you think it is? Do you think he's just not good at interviews? It's gotta be the interviews, because every year, for it felt like a.

00:28:38
Speaker 3: Decade, the moment a coach got fired, the list would come out five.

00:28:43
Speaker 1: This goes back to my point we made a few weeks ago. Do you think maybe you just people overreact to the interviews.

00:28:48
Speaker 2: I think so.

00:28:49
Speaker 3: You know, when I sit down and I got my Sunday ticket in my red zone, not one time I've seen a coach sitting at a desk in an interview setting when they're trying to win a game, they're.

00:28:58
Speaker 2: Calling plays and coaching players.

00:29:00
Speaker 1: Especially if he comes back to Kansas City and let's say the offense immediately clicks again next.

00:29:04
Speaker 2: Year and there's back and they're just back.

00:29:08
Speaker 1: Be the case of maybe we shouldn't listen to our gut on these interviews and just go does he win or not?

00:29:14
Speaker 5: Who's Todd McShay have as the best coaching candidate? Just like the draft you mentioned during the last thing. Just well, I mean if you.

00:29:21
Speaker 1: Were objectively looking at who are the best candidates? Eric b Enemy would have won years ago. Right, So maybe that's what they should do. I just can't imagine the man keeps failing all of these interviews.

00:29:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe he's got a bad handshake.

00:29:38
Speaker 3: Could be it by going maybe he's laid all of them? Could not a tie tie? They're like, look at that winds or the latest if you let's say you were.

00:29:48
Speaker 1: A GM and you were doing a head coach interview and the person was scheduled at three o'clock, and let's say you knew they were in town, like they're at the hotel across the street. What's the latest they could get there before? You would just disqualify them for the.

00:30:06
Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to flex my GM muscles and not tolerate more than a couple of minutes unless it's like a big name and I really want him he can.

00:30:14
Speaker 1: Be So you're saying, if but let's just assume this is you're down to two people, and let's say you're like, I genuinely don't know.

00:30:22
Speaker 2: It's three oh five too late? I think so no way, John Harbaugh shows up thirty different than I'm saying.

00:30:30
Speaker 1: Like, let's say it's two random people, it's Mike Me, Daniel Robert Sall, and you're trying to decide what is the moment where them being late becomes part of the decision process?

00:30:41
Speaker 2: Three or five. I'll give you ten minutes. Then I gotta start doing my job. I might even go three fifteen, all right, but you know they're across the street. They roll in at three fifteen, no explanation. What up?

00:30:55
Speaker 5: Man?

00:30:57
Speaker 2: Don't even acknowledge their late? Well, I don't like that. Like we're off to a bad start at that point. You're just so you're going to hold it against them. You have to, all right, Now, what you go to your job?

00:31:07
Speaker 1: What's the earliest do they get there that you don't think they're a freak.

00:31:12
Speaker 2: This is tough. I like to be early, but there's a psychotic early, there is a psychotic I'm making us uncomfortable. You're here, so how long have you been here?

00:31:21
Speaker 1: What's the earliest you get there that like, people go, would you like some water? There's there's a coffee shop across the street.

00:31:30
Speaker 2: Now we don't even we're not open yet. Man, two thirty. It's two thirty too early. No, No, I was gonna say like two fifteen.

00:31:39
Speaker 3: If you're there more than an hour before, okay, you're trying too hard.

00:31:42
Speaker 2: I'm just saying one five to earth.

00:31:44
Speaker 3: I almost think you're over compensating for a weakness, Like I'm going to try to win the getting there early because I'm bad at something.

00:31:50
Speaker 1: I'm going to be freaked out if you're there at too And I'm starting to get freaked out if you're there at two fifteen, because it's like, are you gonna just annoy me the whole time you're here?

00:32:00
Speaker 2: But when you've hired them, you want them to be the first in the building. Oh yeah, you want the first, so.

00:32:06
Speaker 3: They're going out, Like if you're fifteen minutes late fromn interview, I don't want my starting running back being like, where's my coach?

00:32:11
Speaker 2: We were supposed to be here.

00:32:12
Speaker 1: So I don't care how good you are as a coach if you're gonna make my skin crawl for three years I got to move on. So you're only giving him fifteen minutes late, but you're letting him be an hour early. Yeah, the shows they want it well, so we're going to assume Mike McDaniel was late.

00:32:31
Speaker 2: He was late, and Robert Sallow was not. Okay, all right? What else?

00:32:35
Speaker 5: Well, Mike McDaniels will not be going to Tennessee because they hired as a singular.

00:32:39
Speaker 2: It's like Stanford Cardinal, what McDaniel, Oh, McDaniels mc daniels.

00:32:45
Speaker 5: Well, Josh McDaniels is still coaching right now, but it will be Mike McDaniel not going to Tennessee because they hired Robert Salah. And I think Drew has touched on into the past, but the now, the news is official. I wanted to get his thoughts.

00:32:58
Speaker 2: I like it.

00:32:59
Speaker 3: He was high on my list. Part of it was I enjoyed the hard knocks. He was in Alama Sarker for Hard Knocks, and I believe that the Jets are just one of those cursed organizations where you can't judge his time with the Jets. The defense was good, but I mean, they never win. Why would you expect him to win? So I'm excited about him. My only concern is he's a defensive guy, best coordinator in the NFL probably, and we have a bunch of young offensive guys who need developed. So he has has to has to absolutely get a good OC. Now I've seen Brian day Balls rumor. If we get a head coach from the Giants that I thought did pretty well given the circumstances as our OC with him, you're very happy, definitely.

00:33:39
Speaker 2: So I'm still pleased with the with the higher it just it wasn't enough offensive coach.

00:33:43
Speaker 1: I'm sitting out before I'm being the OC of the Titans, no offense, But like I'm gonna wait, if I might have to be the O C, I might have to be on a team that I know is gonna be good.

00:33:53
Speaker 3: It all comes down to do they believe in Campbell is a good OC would love to get their hands on a young up and comer quarterback.

00:34:01
Speaker 2: Do you is Robert Salin now hottest coach in the NFL? Head coach? Trying to think Andy Reid. No, I'm swiping left on and swiping left.

00:34:13
Speaker 1: Ayry probably the least hot. You know anybody less.

00:34:17
Speaker 2: Hot, less hot than Andy? I mean Mike McCarthy's not back. I'm swiping left in my mind through the whole I think it's gonna have to be Rob Robert sala Who else are even the contender that like a Kyle Shanahan, Oh McVeigh, McVeigh, McVeigh too much hair jail, though he does like the middle school spike.

00:34:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Robert sala is one of three people I've ever watched a sporting event with a woman and had them go who's that and changed the channel? You didn't see that? Let meeah? I mean the all time of that is Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy Garoppolo can be on any TV screen anywhere, and you have lost your woman. She leaves you and goes and tries to start date. She bust season tickets for his team. I didn't know you liked football. You only got one season ticket. I didn't even think about me. But now you have that. Nashville, so that's exciting for you.

00:35:12
Speaker 2: You know, Nashville is a town where I don't know if he's married. I think he is. I hope so. But that's where all the like The Bachelor, Bachelorette, Love Island reality people have now just descended upon Nashville big dating scene. I don't want any distractions with my coach. Need to be stuck with the playbook, not out in Nashville.

00:35:30
Speaker 5: But I still like the higher There seems to be a consensus top three here Sean McVay, Matt Lafleur and Dan Campbell.

00:35:38
Speaker 2: Damn cam Dan Campbell. I'm looking at Campbell looks like the gym teacher on Beavis and Butt.

00:35:42
Speaker 1: Heead Billy, look it up. Billy's list is not Dan Campbell's not in the town.

00:35:50
Speaker 6: There is.

00:35:51
Speaker 2: When you say consensus on what side US magazine, dot com.

00:35:55
Speaker 1: US magazine, yeah, it's not. There's no thing called US magazine, US weekly, US weekly, Yes.

00:36:03
Speaker 2: And then if you ask Ai, that's the third name that comes up. I'm not worried about who Ai thinks is hot. I asked him, that's the hottest headcut that looks Maxine, and I'm against that. Mario, make sure you don't send this video off for the musical. This is an we are this is we're we are very We're fine in this casino dot ca A did a pole? Who casino? Dot ca A did a pole casino? Dot c A. First of all, when when have you ever heard the phrase dot c A. Dot com wasn't available. I guess dot c A. McVeigh got sixteen percent of the vote, and who got second.

00:36:41
Speaker 5: Matt Lafleur at twelve percent, and then Dan Campbell comes in at five.

00:36:45
Speaker 2: So AI is basically casino dot c A, which is not I think a reputable source. So I think we can agree you have the hottest cut.

00:37:07
Speaker 5: Let's talk about Baker Mayfield and his comments towards new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski. A Atlanta Falcons beat writer tweeted earlier this week that Falcons Kevin Stefanski had a dumpster fire at quarterback in Cleveland. Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson failed, which started a chain reaction to eleven other starters. Q B Shdur Sanders closed out last season with seven starts. Baker took notice of that. He quote tweeted it and said, failed is quite the reach, pal your south still waiting on a text call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can't wait to see you twice a year, coach.

00:37:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it was pretty I think the two things that are poor form one is throwing the quarterback under the bus, especially if you know you're going to be in the division. But then if he really didn't call him when they left, and I'm gonna assume he didn't. If Baker says that, then Drew, I do think that's poor form. I think you gotta at least say, man, gonna miss you, right, yeah, Guser?

00:38:09
Speaker 2: Probably what an't you even a text? I mean you should call, But if you don't even send a good luck or even the hand waving emoji, like get your ass out of here, just no communication is the worst for head coach. Oh way, I don't think I realized are you wearing wrestling paints? I'm trying to.

00:38:24
Speaker 3: Bring those up on the morning show and couldn't get the words in those paints are incredible enough just a second for me, jewels you that looks like what a w CW wrestler in nineteen ninety four would have come out in.

00:38:42
Speaker 2: They have like dazzled flames. I who would wear that disco inferno? I was gonna go buff bagwell but yeah, yeah, well he would have been buffing the stuff in those Those are disco in front. And he's just saying I've never seen those. I wish I could pull that off.

00:39:00
Speaker 1: I don't want to think if I wore those in public the reaction would be different than you wear them in public.

00:39:05
Speaker 3: I don't want to get too personal, Mario, but I do have to ask, just from own knowledge, here, did you buy the pants and bedazzle them yourself?

00:39:12
Speaker 2: Or were they on? They were? They're pretty bedazzled. Okay, so you didn't do your own bedazzling. Well they look good. They're very shy. Yeah, they buy them today with holes in the jeans. All right, right, not what this is? These are same vein Matt. But do you even go through a metal detector those? Did they make you at the airport take off your pants?

00:39:32
Speaker 1: They do me, and I always don't think it's necessary.

00:39:36
Speaker 2: Just what, sir? Why am I the only one? Are those going to San Francisco? Are those super Bowl pants? Oh?

00:39:44
Speaker 1: That might be super Bowl paints that I think that's like a Wednesday night party pants.

00:39:49
Speaker 3: You're gonna get a compliment from a famous NFL player wearing those?

00:39:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, I like it. It's a good look. It's those are cover zero level pants? What were we talking about? Baker Mayfield?

00:40:00
Speaker 2: See you twice a year coach.

00:40:02
Speaker 1: Do you like that there's gonna have that little NFC South ride with Chris Meyer's gonna have a lot to talk about.

00:40:06
Speaker 3: We need reasons other than cover Zero's promotion to talk about the NFC South.

00:40:11
Speaker 2: Not for us.

00:40:11
Speaker 3: I'm not sure people even know there's an NFC South. Yes, and Carolina Mike who performed at the Wake Forest College basketball game this week, did you watch it?

00:40:18
Speaker 1: I did want to make sure they get to mention. Uh, A few people in the stands very excited. Yeah, a lot of people perplexed, kind of exactly what we thought would happen, kind of nod.

00:40:26
Speaker 2: In their head like I'm saying, people are enjoying this.

00:40:29
Speaker 1: What what happened to the guy who does the splits with his dog on his feet?

00:40:33
Speaker 2: And they're like, nope, Uh, if I had.

00:40:37
Speaker 7: If I had one hundred and fifty thousand, So but I like it in this far Stefanski next time, text.

00:40:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, you should text.

00:40:48
Speaker 3: And I like the saucy Baker when the Bucks had it rolling early in the year. He's talking a lot of noise. I kind of enjoy when Baker's got a swagger going. I'm glad he sent that out to let him, know, put him on notice in the conference.

00:40:59
Speaker 1: Swaggy Baker is a better Baker. Yeah, I don't like philosophical Baker.

00:41:03
Speaker 3: No Brown's Baker. Tampa Baker first half of last season as the Baker we won.

00:41:08
Speaker 5: Yes, also the Browns head from twenty twenty to twenty twenty five, Stefansi had thirteen starting quarterbacks and Baker Mayfield went eleven and five and led them to the playoffs.

00:41:17
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:41:17
Speaker 1: I mean, the thing about the Browns is the sort of narrative that their quarterbacks have always stunk actually makes them overlook Tim Couch and Baker Mayfield. Tim Couch and Baker Mayfield both had some success for them, but people just don't care because they get lumped in with every other terrible one. Whereas Tim Couch took them to the playoffs, Baker Mayfield took them to the playoffs, and they just get also thrown into the dumpster.

00:41:48
Speaker 2: Fuck.

00:41:49
Speaker 3: It's a good point that Jersey would like the forty one last names. They're just a name on that. But they did better and then both of those get well. Baker still got a good career going, but we're big Couch defenders. Yeah, mckow on any other team.

00:41:59
Speaker 2: There would not be bus conversations the playoffs and the Browns let them down. Yeah, and I think I think he went to playoffs and maybe Kelly Holkhim or whatever, he might have gone to the playoffs once. And I think wouldn't McNabb and Couch same draft class? Like if you flip them McNab the way the way it goes, Who's what's next.

00:42:19
Speaker 5: The Buffalo Denver game peaked at fifty one point three million viewers in overtime. That is the most watched Saturday telecast on any network since nineteen ninety four in the Winter Olympics.

00:42:33
Speaker 1: Oh and that was Tanya and Nancy. Also the biggest TV broadcast since Tanya and Nancy.

00:42:39
Speaker 2: On a Saturday.

00:42:40
Speaker 1: You you, Billy and Mario. Drew may have a small memory of it because he would have been, like, I remember, nothing is been. Tanya and Nancy captivated this country. Maybe unlike any sporting thing in my life. It was it was like as if Taylor Swift was playing quarterback, not dating the quarterback was playing quarterback. That's what it was. Because it was women's sports, but with men caring about like they combined everything and then one of them tried to hurt the other one and ended up breaking her skate and crying. And there was a guy named Ghluley, and it was it was amazing that that happened.

00:43:25
Speaker 3: It'd be like, right before THEFC Championship, Jared Stidham hire someone to go break Drake May.

00:43:33
Speaker 2: You had one woman who was like from the trailer park and country, and then.

00:43:37
Speaker 1: One of them was like a ice queen, right. They both were attractive in different ways. There were weird people involved. If it had been.

00:43:48
Speaker 2: Live, it wasn't love it.

00:43:49
Speaker 1: Back then they used to just tape the Olympics and you weren't allowed to say and there was no Internet, so the news leaked of who won. But if it had been live, I don't think there would have been one human being in America who wouldn't have watched it. Right, There's really never.

00:44:05
Speaker 2: Been any like that in sports. Really, I thought it is.

00:44:11
Speaker 1: You know, we remember like, like, okay, you go, who are the biggest sports people in the history of sports? Most people would answer Babe, Ruth Muhammad, Ali, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods. I think most people think those are historically the biggest four, and I'm not disputing that, but there's also a group of people that you had to have lived through it to realize how big they were, and Tanya and Nancy is one of them. Mike Tyson is one ofup. Like, unless you lived through that, you don't.

00:44:44
Speaker 2: Know what it was like when Tyson was coming up just knocking people out. I think Tanya Nancy's one up.

00:44:51
Speaker 3: This is a little different of like Mike Tyson, but like a thing that happened that you never gets talk about anymore that was crazy. Is just this week I saw on Twitter the Monica Sellis video where she was sad in the French Oh but that is insane, Like that is absolutely insane and a lot of people don't even know that happened.

00:45:07
Speaker 1: But at the time it's what Yeah, I think that was in the French ship and she got stabbed, that's right, And her career was really never exactly the same after that.

00:45:16
Speaker 2: And Tennis was still very huge then, much bigger than it is now. Yeah, so it's a history.

00:45:24
Speaker 5: I was talking about this because it's the most watched telecast on a Saturday since nineteen ninety four.

00:45:29
Speaker 2: Whatever.

00:45:30
Speaker 1: Well, I understand. I mean, that was a great game and it was very very exciting. I mean I would assume have they gotten the ratings for the Bears one?

00:45:36
Speaker 2: I mean, I assume I didn't see that, just saw this one. The Bears Rams will have to be an insane rating too, I would think, right, absolutely, especially with that crazy finish. I'd be shocked. I was not in the conversation. NFL is king, Yes it is, it is? What else?

00:45:50
Speaker 5: I just a couple more and then we'll preview these games. John Harball was being introduced as the new New York Giants head coach, and he called the Giants the most iconic franchise in the biggest sport. He will also have final say on the roster selection, which the GM downplayed. But do you think the Giants are the most iconic franchise in the NFL?

00:46:09
Speaker 2: No?

00:46:12
Speaker 1: I mean, so let's rank the iconic franchise. The Cowboys are number one? Fair, I'd have the Packers.

00:46:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, No, Cowboys. Cowboys are bigger. It means they're valued more.

00:46:27
Speaker 1: You mean, it's just Cowboys have been There's a reason why they have the Thanksgiving Game.

00:46:35
Speaker 2: You know.

00:46:35
Speaker 1: They It's easy to forget, but you have to remember that when football became football, the Cowboys and Steelers were good, right, Packers were just a little before that. I mean, don't get me wrong. I would go Cowboys, won, Packers, two, Steelers three. I think those are the top three, and I don't really think you can dispute it, which is interesting because they're not the biggest cities, right, but I do think they are.

00:47:03
Speaker 2: The three biggest franchises. Would you agree with that? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah? How are you to order them?

00:47:08
Speaker 3: I could hear you out those three? And then fourth, I think the Giants are Aren't they one?

00:47:16
Speaker 2: The original argument?

00:47:17
Speaker 1: You could make it because the first game that people remember in football, I believe was Giants Colts, Right, isn't that the famous one? Maybe the first game live that was on television was the Giants?

00:47:29
Speaker 2: And aren't they one of the original teams? I think they are? They have Super Bowls, And I could hear an argument for the Giants. Is fourth.

00:47:37
Speaker 1: I think along with the Giants, you would put in that group the forty nine Ers, the Bears, and that's probably it. So I'll hear an argument for the Giants.

00:47:52
Speaker 2: Fourth. I think, if you made me do it, I would go Cowboys, Packers, Steelers, Giants, Bears. That would be my five. What about you? I would agree with that.

00:48:03
Speaker 5: I mean, I think you sneak the Giants in a little bit. I don't remember a ton of success that they've had recently.

00:48:08
Speaker 1: I mean Tom Eli won two Super Bowls. You got in the eighties.

00:48:12
Speaker 4: You got to.

00:48:13
Speaker 1: Remember LT was a big thing in Americas parcels they several from before. It was the Super Bowl too. Don't know how far back is again, it's how far you want to go. They were the iconic fifties franchise, like Frank Gifford played for them. So like, if you're kind of thinking iconic franchisees by decade, the Packers are the sixties, the Giants are the fifties. Steelers and Cowboys are the seventies, and in some ways the Bears are the eighties because of the eighty five Bears. So like, I don't think it's coincidence those are the five we mentioned right right, Probably.

00:48:47
Speaker 3: I think Harball can say it in that setting if someone had gotten up there and.

00:48:50
Speaker 2: You know, it's the new head coaches of Jacksonville. Okay, shut up, you wire, no one believes you. But I think they're close enough that he can say it as the new head coach of New.

00:48:58
Speaker 4: York what about the other sports?

00:49:14
Speaker 2: Baseball?

00:49:16
Speaker 6: Yankees won, Red Sox two, Dodgers, Dodgers are Cubs three.

00:49:22
Speaker 2: Which one Dodgers have had a little more success. But the Cubs, Man, I think it's Cubs. I'm gonna go so far back and then Dodgers five or four? Then who's Dodgers moving around? Mm hmmm? Five is five?

00:49:42
Speaker 1: Is hard because there's Mets, Mets.

00:49:47
Speaker 2: I mean, I think of old the Reds are. I mean, they're not very good, but they would have been in a while.

00:49:51
Speaker 1: Now there would have been a time like during the seventies, big Red Machine that they would have put the Reds.

00:49:58
Speaker 2: Don't think if he went historically, I think you'd have to say Mets or maybe the Phillies. But I think you're gonna probably say the Mets. Would you like to know what Casino do? So?

00:50:09
Speaker 5: I just want to know the Mets is number four, Cubs at five Dogs, Cubs.

00:50:13
Speaker 2: The Giants have a lot of history. It's a good one.

00:50:16
Speaker 1: Actually, you know what, I'm taking the Mets out. I'd put the Giants fifth because they go back to New York way back as well. All right, so I'm not to put the Giants now. I mean as well.

00:50:24
Speaker 2: Do these for all, I'll save the NBA hockey. This is gonna to be you.

00:50:29
Speaker 1: Well, this is hard, but it also like gives you a sense who you know. You're not a hockey fan, so I actually think that would matter. The ones that come to my mind as likely red Wings.

00:50:41
Speaker 2: That's my first one was the Red Wings came to mind. Maple Leafs, Rangers, Bruins, Bruins, Canadians.

00:50:51
Speaker 1: Maybe the Canadians. Yeah, I think those are actually the five. The only other one I could think of is I mean, who's in the original six?

00:50:58
Speaker 2: Is the six? Chicago?

00:50:59
Speaker 1: I think is the black Hawks on that? I mean there's I think that's the original six. So I'm going to go Red Wings one. Maple Leafs, Rangers, Bruins, Canadian Do we like them?

00:51:14
Speaker 3: You know NHL a lot more than me. I just know Red Sox or rit Sox. Red Wings immediately came to mind. Detroit Canadians. I can't tell you much about that. I couldn't tell you much about the Canadians either.

00:51:23
Speaker 2: But Florida team's surprisingly good and nobody cares about Florida. I mean they don't, that's not even mistake. Uh, it's my home State Basketball. Is it Lakers or Celtics? Just call it the Lakers and Celtics probably. I was about to say Celtics, and right as I went over in my mouth, I was like, is it the Lakers?

00:51:41
Speaker 1: Well, historically it's probably the Celtics, but I do feel like the Lakers are the bigger draw in the last twenty five years. I'm gonna go Lakers than Celtics, Nicks. And then I it's hard because like the Bulls were so huge, but like, have you cared about the Bulls in twenty five years? I mean, they were never good before Jordan, and they were never really good after Jordan and Derrick Rose they did for a little while.

00:52:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, I got hurt and he got hurt. Man. I think there's a big drop after number three, though, isn't there after the Knicks.

00:52:28
Speaker 3: I would even say one and two are on their own pet They are because they were they have like same amount of chain won apart.

00:52:34
Speaker 1: But again, so when TV became a thing, the Knicks were big in the seventies.

00:52:38
Speaker 2: They were they were just win a little more, they'd be in it.

00:52:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I don't know about fourth. I mean, I guess it might be the Bulls, Spurs. I mean, the Spurs have won a ton, but I I don't know if I consider them ar conic.

00:52:53
Speaker 2: I think maybe sixers.

00:52:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, argument, where do they have the Warriors seven behind? The Pistons go back all the way to Philadelphia and they go to Wilt Chamberlain.

00:53:12
Speaker 2: I'm going to put the Warriors fifth because of that? What about you?

00:53:16
Speaker 3: And the last fifteen years of them is about as good as any run as you can have too outside of the the Lakers. And it's odd Haigo Bulls just because the iconic Jordan's.

00:53:28
Speaker 1: It's odd how much of basketball is based on the individual players that are there, whereas these other sports are more based as Jerry Seinfeld would say on the laundry.

00:53:37
Speaker 2: Well, I'm an example.

00:53:39
Speaker 3: I have a favorite team that I have not changed on, switched up on since I was an infant. I've never had an NBA team like I love players. I love the Pacers when Reggie Miller was there. And I think you could make an argument that.

00:53:49
Speaker 1: Only the Celtics, Lakers, and Knicks are non player dependent. Yeah, yeah, because I think all these other teams are dependent on who happened to play for him. The Celtics and the Lakers and the Knicks are the Celtics and the Lakers in the Knicks, no matter.

00:54:04
Speaker 3: Who's played for them, those are the three. Those are the three. The rest of them you latch onto a star you like. If they moved team, maybe move with them.

00:54:12
Speaker 2: All right, that's what it is for me. I didn't mean to get off on this, but all right, one more.

00:54:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, my final note isn't much of a news note. But in both games in the championship weekend, we'll have Sean versus Mike. It'll be Mike Rapel versus Sean Payton.

00:54:25
Speaker 2: That's nice. We have Sean McVay versus Mike McDonald. Are you let me ask you a question. Did you notice that or did you see someone else? Oh? That was my research?

00:54:36
Speaker 3: Well, I actually have to butt in the top note I have. I can show it is Mike Verseean, Mike ver Sean, because they've been talking about that son another good researcher.

00:54:43
Speaker 1: Oh wait wait, but he's he's acknowledged I didn't research consumed it.

00:54:48
Speaker 2: He's acknowledging he got it from someone else.

00:54:50
Speaker 3: It is my first I believe you like you're Mike Verseean, Mike you're suggesting though you didn't come up with it, you saw it somewhere else.

00:54:58
Speaker 2: I consumed it at some point I couldn't point to where it was.

00:55:00
Speaker 1: But either you suggesting it came out naturally from your head, or that you consumed I consumed it. Okay, all right, fair enough, it is cool, though it is cool top note right above Stefanski versus making less interesting for you that I didn't have it wasn't an original thought, No, I just I was going to be impressed if you came up with okay. Also I was going to be skeptical.

00:55:22
Speaker 5: Well, I forgot the cayenne pepper as well, so I can't put that.

00:55:24
Speaker 2: In my socks. But we didn't do my third note. I meant to bring it up. What was that? We already went over the topic. But Travis Kelcey can't wait, said he can't wait to see the enemy around the off of the facility the next year. He may come back as his boy. That hire might have changed the course of Swifty is interesting. That would be interesting if he comes back. Does the enemy get to go to the wedding? I think so the way the way Travis talks about him, Maybe maybe a groomsman, Did you read the Taylor Swift Blake Lively text? You know, I tried to keep up with it. There's just a lot going on here.

00:56:00
Speaker 1: I don't really I actually don't even know what the fight is about at this point.

00:56:03
Speaker 2: I know that Blake Lively doesn't like some name.

00:56:06
Speaker 1: Justin and Justin fight each other, but what less judging? I thought it was kind of sad that their personal text each other got released to the general public. Like they're talking about difficult parts of their life and it's just on the internet.

00:56:23
Speaker 2: Do you I feel like that's wrong. I think I shouldn't now I read it. I'm googling it right now.

00:56:29
Speaker 1: I feel like I shouldn't have been reading it. But like they're talking about the disappointments they have in each other's friendship and what the other could do to be a better friend. And I kind of thought, why why do I get to read this?

00:56:40
Speaker 3: Just seems pretty personal between them. I think it got caught up. There's a big feud with this Justin guy. But why republic get to see that? Maybe it's necessary for the lawsuit, but did it need for everyone to see it?

00:56:52
Speaker 2: Oh? No, it did not. But that's the world. We live in public interest in Taylor Swift is number one on that list too. Well.

00:56:58
Speaker 3: We talk about how they don't have much privacy, and you think about just walking down street and restaurants. But as you're saying, like best friend texts are on the internet, they shouldn't get everything of their lives their friends again or no, did they like each other?

00:57:11
Speaker 2: Now, I haven't been following this one. Okay, well, I mean, you're supposed to be in charge of the news, but he was. He was busy googling how many shines and Mike.

00:57:19
Speaker 1: Blake Lively reporter. All right, the games. We already previewed one of the games. Do you have anything you want to say for ram Seahawks. I'm really excited. I still don't know which team I'm gonna pick.

00:57:31
Speaker 3: I have to gamble because we only have a few football games left. But as close as they played in the regular season, three points separate between two games and having overtime in there, I'm really looking forward to it.

00:57:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of looking forward to it, but kind of not.

00:57:46
Speaker 3: I mean, those West Coast teams sometimes feel like they're not part of I wish it was better.

00:57:50
Speaker 1: I wish it was a better matchup. I'm not gonna lie. I just I just can't get in the Seahawks. I just I can't get into it. If we get Seahawks versus Stidham in the Super Bowl. I mean, I'm gonna go, but I don't know what to say to anyone. Well, I mean even right now with what we have and I know it's not a great super Bowl. Well, they did that.

00:58:11
Speaker 3: Graphic where's the four quarterbacks walking towards the trophy and the names are on the back, and.

00:58:15
Speaker 2: He used to say Mahomes, Yeah, Jackson hurts it said, you know Stidham.

00:58:21
Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad they had everyone's name up there, or I wouldn't have known any of them. I'd be like, it just doesn't carry the same I'd be like, please keep these four men away from the trophy.

00:58:29
Speaker 2: They're gonna steal it.

00:58:30
Speaker 3: We just got used to say so many last names or the same last names, and now it's like, oh, yeah, it's a new guard.

00:58:38
Speaker 2: I mean, and not worried about Sam Donald's oblique. It's true, what if Sam Donald's o'bleak keep pow to let it rip? I mean, let it rip. I don't to be honest with you, there's not a less interesting person in the league to me than Sam Darnald. Oh Blake feels about right for an injury to like a kind of boring. Yeah, Like, I don't even know where my oblik is. Mone's been acting up lately. I hope I'm ready to go for the weekend. I mean, if I don't want to brain it though. All right, so quarterback touchdowns touchdown? Was the score last week?

00:59:11
Speaker 5: Well, we had some controversy obviously, and I do want to look through in the eye here and apologize.

00:59:15
Speaker 2: But you last week, and.

00:59:18
Speaker 5: Well, then take it with a grain of salt, I guess, but did review the footage and you did pick Kyron Williams. Uh So we have to change the scoring, Matt. You now lose a point. You're down to seven because you picked a week we talked about two weeks ago ago.

00:59:34
Speaker 2: We're not changed. The review process has to end at some point. I didn't need a review. I've been telling you for three weeks, but it was you can't continue to review the tape weeks. It's like when the NFL the next play takes I told you what happened in the moment. You all just didn't believe me. Adjustment cannot be made. The play is under review, they make the decision, then it's over. You don't get to go back, So you cannot go back to two weeks ago.

00:59:59
Speaker 3: This was your error that you were carrying a month later. I tried to fix it in the moment. Yeah, but that's on you, and you're gonna have to look at him if he loses. Already leave them in chore too. I had already relied on this score. I had started to changed the way I looked at things. You picked different players the next week, exactly, I have eight. No, hold on, I have eight points. Now he can have way. I don't care what he has. I have eight.

01:00:24
Speaker 1: You cannot take a point away from me last Sunday. We don't have to count it because I've clearly lost. Because we're going to make things up. I had an incredible run last Sunday. Credible run. I have eight points.

01:00:33
Speaker 2: What do you have? Okay, Matt, we'll keep you with eight. I have eight as well. Andrew has four. There's no way I had four last week alone. Now we are updating.

01:00:42
Speaker 3: No way, I am betting them. DraftKings is paying me after.

01:00:46
Speaker 2: They hit and I come in here and I have to throw the challenge flag that he only is four.

01:00:50
Speaker 1: He got three out of four last week, and I don't think he had one on the year.

01:00:55
Speaker 2: So this is my update that was going into last week. Okay, okay, it was eight eight four, okay, okay, fair enough. So now last week, Matt, you hit zero of them, so I can accept that. All right, I hit two of them. I have ten. Are we sure about that? Yes? All right? And Drew hit three of them. He is now up to seven ten eight seven. Yes, I will accept that theoretically as the score I understand, although I will acknowledge this entire season is under refeed. I mean I have I can't put any trust in this.

01:01:26
Speaker 3: Like when you say scores, you might as well tell that wall because it means nothing to me. This entire season is under challenge.

01:01:32
Speaker 5: No, you shouldn't. I got worked up. Matt agreed with me on the take. Of course, when you were giving him for a moment, we went with the moment. No, he's forget the moment.

01:01:40
Speaker 3: How about me just an honest person telling you and you insisting I'm lying, Well, I just.

01:01:47
Speaker 2: I just that I could trust the person.

01:01:49
Speaker 3: I even replayed the whole conversation about Matt si en Rico nico I said, I don't want to wide receive.

01:01:54
Speaker 2: I knew everything they've said, and you still also went on and said Colston, no, you this, don't do this. You're trying to deflect. The argument was Kirrad Williams. That was in.

01:02:05
Speaker 3: You did argue that you pay coasted. Well, that's after he kept lying. I got it's all about Commin Williams. And you're not gonna.

01:02:12
Speaker 1: I can't go back to two weeks to review though, because you end up hurting everyone involved. Just keep this in mind for the future. You're getting a lot of trust in you here, and you have sort of shamed yourself over the.

01:02:24
Speaker 2: Course of really one misstep. I would not put the whole So let's.

01:02:27
Speaker 1: Do let's do this. First of all, let's do this. We'll do this as the Liberty Mutual Bundle. Okay, the Liberty Mutual Bundle is presented by Liberty Mutual. We're supposed to pick three games, but there are only two, so let's pick and over under. That's too much, too complicated, all right, So we're gonna we'll do this. We'll pick reds Guardian's first spring training game on February twenty first, Okay, it's gonna take us a while to find out the result of this.

01:03:03
Speaker 2: Carl's gonna take a while to pay out. I'm gonna go Reds.

01:03:07
Speaker 3: I like what the Guardians are doing this offseason training though. Yeah, I need to see the weather, but I think for right now, I'm going Guardians.

01:03:14
Speaker 2: Okay, Billy, I think I'm going Guardians as well.

01:03:17
Speaker 1: All right, so that's the start. So we'll take the Guardians because we get two out of three. Now let's go to the games. Seahawks versus the Rams. I'm taking the Rams. What about you?

01:03:28
Speaker 2: What is doing to win here? Yeah? Why not? Well no, because they got the spread with the other one with the other game long.

01:03:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, so Seahawks are a field gold favorite. Seahawks are field goal f I'm taking the Rams even Yeah, I'm gonna take the Rams and the points. I'm not committing to an outcome there, but we are in for a tight game. What about you, Bill rams Man? All right, so the Rams we got it. Then I've got Denver is only plus one.

01:03:53
Speaker 2: I'm seeing four and a half New England four and a half. Why does this say plus one. I don't know if you should bet that immediately if you have access to that. All right, plus four and a half. I'm taking New England. I want the Broncos to be competitive. I just can't put faith in that quarterback, respectfully to Nibrock and Corbin. Just bad circumstances for him. So I think Patriots went big in New England. All right, So.

01:04:18
Speaker 1: We're going Patriots Rams Guardians. That's your victory bundle, presented by presented by Liberty Mutual. Start your quote at Libertymutual dot com. Let's pick the quarterbacks here or pick me pick the scores. So, Drew, I think you'll go first here this time, and you got to pick who you want for a touchdown. Let's start with the early game Broncos and Patriots.

01:04:46
Speaker 3: I also note last week I only did long shots all plus two hundred or more and they hit. So I pat myself on back there and I'll stay with that model. I'm going long shots again. I'm looking at it. Diggs is plus two ten just scored for me. I'm going to keep riding the Stefan Diggs wave.

01:05:02
Speaker 1: In New England this weekend. You're going with Steph Dick's yep. Let you all have all the running backs.

01:05:09
Speaker 2: Okay, so I'm going to take a running back? Who do I want? Uh? Let's see I think I would like I mean, yeah, with the Patriots, you can go with Ramande's Tray Stevenson, or I can get a little saucy and uh or Drake May running one in. You know what, Let's just go with Remandre Stevenson. I'm gonna take Mondre Stevenson as mine.

01:05:38
Speaker 5: And you can doubt the Corbyn boy all you want, but give me Jared Stidham for a tush push touchdown.

01:05:43
Speaker 2: In this gash push. Okay, you're going with the tush push? You're are you taking Jared Stidham? I am all right, whatever it is, whatever you want to do, all right, I'll go first on this next one, rams Seahawks. I mean, I'm gonna take Pooka. Uh Drew second. Well, I'm certainly not gonna pick Cawen Williams. No excuse me, Billy second, Sorry, but go ahead, Billy.

01:06:05
Speaker 5: I will take Walker and jump on that train. Drew who got on last week?

01:06:09
Speaker 2: Old mine three for him last week? All right, Drew?

01:06:13
Speaker 3: That threw me a curve in that case, I will go I'm gonna go way long shot. I'm looking at plus three plus three fifty Colby Parkinson.

01:06:22
Speaker 2: I like it.

01:06:23
Speaker 1: Colby Parkinson. They have like five tight ends they'll throw to him. Okay, Colby Parkinson is your pick.

01:06:31
Speaker 2: I've got uh Pooka Nakua and you've got Kenneth Walker the third.

01:06:36
Speaker 1: So there you go. That's our quarterbacks. And uh, I guess we're ready to do a little championship.

01:06:42
Speaker 3: Heck yeah, I'm excited. I hate that there's only three football games left. You know what, we'll be in the super Bowl in like two weeks. Yes, right here, let's go.

01:06:50
Speaker 1: All right, guys, thank you all very much for being with us and being the kind of people that we like to see.

01:06:56
Speaker 2: We'll see you later.
