Speaker 2: News to come out of the GM meetings this week. Dave Dombrowski talked a couple times, talked a lot about the Phillies outfield situation. So we're gonna spend today's show talking about the Phillies outfield. But first, guys, I want to talk about a very tantalizing peace piece of information that came out of the GM meetings.

Our buddy, our old buddy, Dan Hayes of The Athletic covers the Twins does a really good job. He wrote that Byron Buxton might be willing to waive his no trade clause if the Twins continue down this rebuilding path with no path rudderless, no immediate path to victory. He's going to be thirty two years old. He was adamant about not waving it last summer. And if you wave it, I think he would be a very good fit for the Phillies checking too. Humongo boxes center field where dynamic and powerful right handed bat in the middle of the order, where he also would be dynamic.

So it'll be nice to pull off a trade and fill a hole in center field, and that would allow you to play justin Crawford and left field, where many many folks think. I think he's much more well suited.

Now, part of that story was Buxton would consider waving as no trade clause if the Twins continue to sell, meaning Joe Ryan Pablo Lopez their top two starters, and the Twins have since uh indicated that they want to try to win next season, so maybe they don't trade those guys, and it becomes.

And the whole story is about how those two guys are like literally, I think since stat Cast started measuring sprint speed, the only two guys that have maintained their elite level speed in the early thirties. So I just wanted to mention that because that would be kind of fun too, having two of those guys running speed.

And there's that early trip to the East Coast, two games on the East Coast, which I'm sure those veterans are going to figure out a way to not make the trip. But I could see Justin Crawford playing playing about uh playing about fourteen innings in those two days in center field, and I have to I.

Speaker 6: Gotta give some love to Paco Figueroa because one, he's a tremendous human, but also he's an excellent, excellent worker, hard working outfield coach. I think he did a really bang up job with Castillanos, made him a usable right fielder.

The previous three seasons, Harrison Bader batted two thirty nine with a six forty four ops. So, and I think I saw the quote. I think Matt Gelb tweeted it from Dave Dombrowski talking about Harrison Bader basically saying, yeah, you know, he declined the mutual option, and basically they said, yeah, you know, you want to you know, he kind of had the best year he's had in years.

Now, he's no young pupp He has a two forty seven average with a three three thirteen on base percentage. His on base percentage with the Phillies was by far the best he's ever had in his career in that short stint.

Can it be closer to seven point fifty maybe, But he had an eight to twenty four or OPS with the Phillies and a seven seventy eight OPS with UH with Minnesota close to an eight hundred for the year.

He had the lowest war in baseball of any qualified player, and so you go like, yeah, but you know, but he's still a right handed bat. And I was thinking about this the other day, Like Max Kepler last year signed a one year, ten million dollar contract with the Phillies coming off of like three bad years in a row, four bad years in a row.

But we view Bryce Harper as our first base, and he plays a good first base. I don't see moving back into the outfield. Of course, that was framed along the lines of what he said a couple times last year, including rape for the trade deadline this year, which was, hey, if Dave goes out and gets a big bat, I move out the outfield.

Christopher Sanchez finished a strong second, a unanimous second, and man, oh man, I still go back to spring training when we made our bold predictions and Jim Salisbury said it you finished.

But I don't know, do you think are you guys concerned about his offense like that? I feel like he hit him ninth. I feel like he's gonna be He's not. He's not Billy Hamilton. I was looking at Billy Hamilton's minor league numbers. They were not that good. No, he stole one hundred and twenty five base not hit he hit like right. He hit two fifty in the minor leagues with like a seven hundred ops, whereas justin Crawford's entire he said a three hundred, eight hundred oh ps.
