Yeah, people in your DMS talking about you sold on me yet. For sure I had a couple in person too game. They be saying, course ie like, man, let me get five more points, try to get me in trouble. Hey, man shouts a hord I bet do not. You know athletes nerves. Man, ain't got nothing to do with them. Bet on your own discretion. But be here in the lads, man, we gotta put the discretion. Tell the people, lead the fans along and the players. Oh yeah, man, especially my young man, letting let him cook. Many got enough going. On, so we got a lot to talk about. Man. Shout out to family. We tapped in live All Star weekend out here in l A. Got my dogs with me to my far left, Bishop be here out the pearleys, Are you what. Cool and nasty? I ain't got these nasties? Yeah, you know I'm a real DAS athlete. Up first look at the purple. What's saying the fool with us? You know we're a nice team. Ain't saying nothing right? Your tig? How you what matter? Jail? No, that's all. I loved this family showing love. But we got one of my indie indy heat along. Yeah. Family really baby crash out what I call him? Listen if you tapped into five twenty in the morning last year. Yeah, I think you know what I'm saying. We was early in the trade, old job. I wasn't once in Midwest man, Chicagoes Fightest Illinois spotted Indy Heat alumni wag My fears big dog. We appreciate you sliding on this, bro, Yes, sir, appreciate y'all. Yes, sir, Indie Heat family man, team man. The first time I seen him play, him and Jaylen Harrellson we went to the game. We seen he was like man, he played like west Brook. He got nothing but energy, flying around the court. What you remember zero two? Uh? Indy. I was eleven trying to get zero. But they he was flying around the court, were. Like, older was crazy. Bro. We was coming to see Jaalen. I had never even heard of you. I was like, okay, yeah, Jalen, Yeah, I new favor. I was big because my guy coached Avery. You know what I'm saying. My boy, he was like, hey, I got somebody on my rosster. You need to check out. And he don't never be wrong and did something wrong this time. Boy, You've been getting to it for a long time. Man. Facts, how you join the team. Man, I wasn't trying and play with mean streets in my curve. And then I was trying to go out of state and I just came from brad Beal and Andy. He had reached out, and then my me and my dad had did like some research we've seen they had some dudes the previous year or so. He's like, we'll rock with it. And then my older brother played with them the year before, So end up switching up, switching it up a little bit. Shout out to the film. Like you said, man, ball is real in the family. What's that like? Men growing up hooping with the siblings. Man, it's crazy. I think that's where I kind of get the motor and the home girl from playing against my older brother. He was always bigger than me and strong than me. He wasn't never taking it easy, and especially played through one on one he would be just trying to bang me and post me up the whole time. I'm like, bro, watch y'all. Once I finally start getting bigger and stronger, I always had the confidence. I got bigger and stronger, I just tooking it ran with it basically, And every time I step on the court, I'm trying. To kill my opponent. Have you beat him in one and one on one always I beat him. Now we just trying to broke out twenty five. Yeah, bro, ain't bro ain't going like that? I guess I tell you. Don't say it's a big brother saying the one on one man was to your little brother. Bro. Now they win at first, like when you're young and you're small and stuff, they win. But once you get around at sixteen seventeen years old. Yeah, that's what he should have did. I had to get. That, oh man, Like you said, crazy high school career. Man, what was it like Hooper in high school and then transition into college because you had a hell of a junior seen early. Yeah, yeah, I mean it felt it felt really good. I had the confidence obviously from playing up all my life, so once I got to college, it was basically the same thing. It was a little bit older. Yeah, it was like twenty six five. I still had the confidence and go out there and do what I'm capable of doing. And then I feel like I would pick the right school for me. Let me go out there and showcase what I was capable of. Like I said, going to Oklahoma for sure. What was that process? Like, I know you had a couple of schools just shoot, you know what I'm saying, tapped in with but obviously end up Oklahoma. All worked out, but I used a little a little bit of pressure going through that. Yeah, it was tough. That was probably one of the hardes decisions I had to make picking the college because go to the wrong situation. Yeah, the coach might not be rocking with you, you might not be able to show everybody what you're capable of, and you ended up getting stuck in college. So definitely picking the right school was big for me. And just narrowing down my options was coaching staff, Yeah, the roster, and the conference. I think that SEC was the bet fifth of my game, my play style. Yeah, no, you alreays talking about this, Tig, it's a little bit different when you get to college, but you said that summer is really where it's different when it gets that level. What was that life for you? Stepping into that spring summer ball? It was crazy? At first, them dudes was strong. I'm like, man, But then I start hitting that weight room, I start getting stronger, and I was like, all right, I'm good. But like that first week, I get switched on the bier. He trying to post me up. I'm like, man, it's strong. Other than that, I was good after that, though. That was the first time touching the whites, the real real ways. Yeah. I was doing push ups and little dumb balls and stuff. I got to college. I start hitting them sixty five and eighties, and then I took my push up to another level. I started doing even more pull ups, and my body start getting defined. I started getting a lot stronger. Fteen shakes movies. How much what did you pick up that? Selling like ten twelve pounds? Okay, I was. I was trying, though, but it was a got half of myself too, getting stronger and getting bigger. So I was willing to do anything. Pick up that way and pick up that muscle. You're the stummer. You came back. It wouldn't even that long. Boy. That college program different. How much did you when you came back to that? I gained thirty pounds. They gave him some juice, so said I eight to twelve. I was bottom. Yeah, and then they got you eating four five times a day, especially if you're smart. They got you eating six. Damn. They watch you like you gotta eat this. You're like manus on the meals everything steak rice. In the morning. I should have took a visits that long. They've real MisOr everything they was giving us Everageingle thenth. That's hard though. What was dope? But like I said, Oklahoma profit school, hell alumni and you're putting on but like to support you was getting like as graduate, obviously you have the name. You was good, but like gradually had to see the progress. Everybody was like, no, y'all have to watch him. What was that like? Especially with your teammates buying into the system, and it seemed like they let you cook and then it all worked out. It was great. Uh, having the older dudes sometimes it's be tough. They'd be hating. But I feel like I was in a fourtune situation. My teammates, they was happy for me. He was out there doing it together. I mean I was still I was still out there kind of playing really good and doing what I could do, but my teammates were still getting off his will. Yeah, and it was more so like not that everybody looking at it like Jeremiah doing this, he's doing that. But also your teammates played a big part because they gotta be willing to buy in and they gotta be happy for you. If they're not happy for you, then it's gonna be a tough situation. Like, man, you're a freshman. We're not from passing the ball, and we're not gonna be happy if you have a good game. So my teammates definitely played a huge part of that and they was happy for me whether it was a good game bad game. And they was talking to me as well if I did have a bad game, like good, bro, you're gonna shake back. Yeah. So I think they would a long way from me, and just seeing them have that confidence in me. Yeah, you talk about this now with the portal and everything, the business basketball is different, so they don't even be quote unquote hateed time. It's just like, shoot, I'm trying to get paid too. Yeah. So now I was like, yeah, it ain't the competition more in the locker room before you even get on the court. That's the fact. Yeah. I wasn't wanted to ask you because we watched a bunch of your games when you was in school and we were huge fans, Like we was like, hey, creative, what the boy he gets to the basket. You can do so much with the basketball like when did you know? He was like, Yo, I'm about to leave, Like, did you know you was leaving like at the school early, but did you know? You was like, I'm wanting done. Yeah. Once I got there. I think I still have the text. I text my dad like the second week. I was like, man, I'm going top five. He was like, you think so? I said, I know so, but just the work I put in, And then I was seeing it translate in practice. I was doing my thing in practice, and then in the scrimmages. We played like two of the top top five teams, top three teams in the country preseason, and I did my thing. I'm like, yeah, I'm going to a five shout out to boost Mobile, official sponsor of. What's that feeling like knowing you're about to get like I'm a top pick man? It was crazy. You still gotta go out there and compete, but you got that. You gotta have that chip on your shoulder. You gotta know every time you step on the court, they finela, they finna come at you. So so I was definitely getting ready to singing game, gearing up my headphones, uh lift afore the game, stretching stuff like that because I knew everything I step on the course. Especially with the new Monk draft and stuff they got going on, everybody'd be like, all right, he did see about to be top pick. So they was coming at you every night, double team and blitzing the nine. You the ball, got do what you gotta do. Though. It was good though, what's. Like playing in that rivalry game because I know Oklahoma and know what I'm saying, Like you said, it's lit. Yeah, it was. It was crazy. They was talking crazy. It was exciting though, because it's like in high school. You don't get that no more for real. In the NBA. The student sections, you got posters, they being creative. They might got your mama on the post frame like Mansil. But at the end of the day, it was it was super exciting. It was out of that fuel to the fire. Yeah, like, yeah, and so you might have a bad game. They got yeah, you had two points, very sue, and so like all right, man, And at the end of the game, you could go over there and you can talk stuff a little bit to the student section and then they ain't got no choice about to respect you. If you do your thing, Yeah, you get to win. I always ask you this. You play. Tough game, specially on the road. What's the environment? Like, man, going to the Robberts places and going to those big schools and upsetting people. Now that's the funnest part for the game me. But like you said, they will be talking about your mama anybody in the stand. It's kind of crazy. But uh, you going there and you shut them up. That's the most song for sure. Any memorable matchups from college that you can remember, somebody that try. Uh Kentucky, Kentucky and Georgia. We played Georgia the first time. I couldn't a shot and then they end up beating us and they was fans was talking wild, the player was talking wild. They was like, it's supposed to be the NBA this you did this. I'm like, we're gonna see yall again. And then we end up seeing him in the SEC tournament and I destroyed them and we beat them and put him out. I was talking a little crazy to them after the game. Uh the little guard from Yukon, Uh he there, now he got the dress he was guarding me. He got tors crazy show. And then Kentucky. Yeah, we end up having one of the players from Oklahoma's transfer over there, ended up making the game win on us. He was talking out his body too. Played him again. He ended up in another game winning, claiming. All that in time was spooky though, that he had ran full court and just threw it up with the left. He was all bounds and everything. We like, no way he made that, and then it wasn't enough time to get a shot of it was like point seven were like no way. Just games like that. Oh I gota you get two game winners to get the school you left? That's all. Yeah, that was crazy. No respected him all right. Obviously killed in college. What was your draft process like that summer going into being a professional. It's crazy. Probably I probably ended up getting in the best shape I ever been there. They had me working out and running so much that when I worked out the NBA teams, I was in. I was in great shape, and then the majority of my workouts was solos, so it was me and then not the video up like the assistant coaches. Some teams bring back players ha's been the NBA, so you might be playing it's a former point guard or former wing and stuff like that, playing three threes. But it was it was good for sure. I had some couple of matchups. They were trying to get underneath my skin because they seen I was talking a little bit of Collins. They had some of the people they got you going against talking and man, the worst is probably Utah Man. The air out there already different. And then they got you the three minute run, like, oh that's different. When people who ain't tapped in, please explain what the three minute run is. You gotta run full speed to one end to the other end for three minutes and they're trying to see how much you can get basically a condition to test. And I mean you trying to get on the team. You want them to pick you, so you're going hard. It ain't no jogging, You're going super hard. By the time you get to like twenty, her legs and body by ready to give out as soon as you get done, you're just laying for like hots over. Is that the end of workout because I'm not about to go with basketball for that. Yeah, the end of the workout and then you gotta stuff they got you doing beforehand, full core, one on ones, one on tools, and you're just going for about two hours just you by yourself. It was freaky. Yeah, facts, they were trying to see what she was gonna do, how he was gonna react. But it was super fun. How many teams you work out for? I only worked out for fourteen to I was going to our five. He worked out for four. It was Yeah, it wasn't as much as everybody else, that's god. But he threw a shot at me. I mean he's working out for matter the whole thart breaking got Are you laughing too hard? All right? It's a draft night, man. What's that feeling like? Man, dreams come true? It was fly to appreciated. It came for sure. What's that moment like for you and the fan? Man? Man? It was crazy. Uh, it was a little bit like you still know you're gonna be a topic, but it was like her was racing. You ain't know who's gonna take you. You're just sitting at that table. But it's a little like for the people that no dispect that ain't been drafted or that then that opportunity, like you kind of knowing it's about to be your turn. They got all the camera dununto your table. So once I see all the camera, I was like, oh, and I just put my head now, like I'm about to get drafted. So once I walked up there put the hat on, so got them silver hand. It was like a dream come true. And then my heart kind of I start relaxing a little bit. I'm like, ah, you did. But at the end of the day, I knew I had more work to be done. Something League was coming up. And then I had a chip on my shoulder too from the people, all the people that went in front of me m So every time I played them, I had it marked down for sure. See, I know you worked out for a couple of teams. Was the Pelgan of those things. Worked out for? Yeah, okay, it wasn't one of the four. Now there'd be some. Weird situations where you don't work out for a team that draft people like I ain't even tapping early. It's crazy That's how it was in Alena offer up. I don't work out for Anta. You don't know none of the coaches, No, none of the assistance. You know the front office. I mean you probably know them a little bit from the combine. You got to meet with a bunch of different teams to talk to them, but like, you never seen him in person. One thing y'all talked about was college and getting ready for the draft. But you want to know nothing else about them. What's been that adjustment? The biggest adjustment. Definitely the speed of the game. Once the game starts slowing down for you, it's gonna become a lot more easier. So I feel like that was the biggest adjustment. But I think I I think it's starting to slow down a lot for me, and I'm starting to understand everything all the cultures, read sky reports, everybody, my matchup, my assignments, and what I gotta do to help my team win. All right, man, obviously you're a rookie, but what was that moment, Like you got that first check, that first recoposit, man. That joint, the count I was, where was that sting in the bed that to count? When I started? I got up and just start dance y'all like dang, and then everybody exackly like, well you dancing. I'm like, but don't worry about it. Was it was cool too far. Man. I was shopping, okay, yeah I went, so I started my clothes shoes, uh some. Jerry a little bit, Jerry, Okay. Then I start saving it saying, yeah, I got a trick on yourself a little bit. It was. It was a good time, though, Junior. I was like, dang that Mercht record positot alright, man, listen, rookie year progressing so far? Hey man, you've been making noise all over on the court. What's going on? Mary? Okay, you just spell me a little door locking up. You are hearing the sing make the name for yourself. Man, love to see it. Yes, sir, he's crazy crazy, crash out. You gotta talk a little bit. Yeah, you're just too quiet. I'm like, man, we could just keep testing, keep under them, but being able to talk a little bit. But you can't just be talking. You ain't doing nothing, so that's rarely. Got back it up a little bit, so everybody keeps you going. Everybody what you're capable of, and don't be afraid of matchups. You've got a mirror night, so you better be ready for it. Yeah, before we get out here, ask that point guard position the NBA. It is one of the most dat places. We's l like night and night outs. You know, you gotta go out there and prove yourself, go against some Hall of famers. That's probably the hardest position. I mean the wings and the threes and fours could argue the bigs not for real, but the threes and fours they can argue a little bit. But you sho you got position. You know, Joe Man, you. Could have know you about They a beoutter screen and out of you. For man, every time at that point guard is different there night you guys got Curry. Now you got Max he been hooping. Yeah, and you in the West to got and man he got Shade. What's that match up that you got? Like, you know, everybody had that first rookie not star struck because we're not really star struck, but you had that moment like, damn, I'm about to play against bro Kadie. I played in pre season, but he wasn't really trying. He still was cooking us. Once the season came, you played great defense. He might come off pin down. You're like, all right, I can push him. He's skinny, but he catched that drink. Taking that one dribble and rise up used to test steel bottom of the team. You just gotta run down like, hey, that was the defense. What Vet then brought you in and kind of gave you the game? Uh? DeAndre Jordan j. You're gonna say, freaky ze. You've been You've been talking to me a lot. Uh Jontay Murray, Yeah, Loan, you've been hanging out with Troy. Yeah, trade two guys. They all be They be just all peeling in timing here and there, talking to us, just trying to get us the best piece of ice they can. Some of them don't play our position, but they still know what they're talking about for sure. And they even just talking about everything, learning the rests understand the rest. You could talk to what you can't understand the league, assist the situation you in, stuff like that. So definitely learned a lot so far. So you've got a couple more games to go after break. Yeah, that's gonna work it out. Hell of a rookie campaign. Many I got some young kids. We all rock with on the team. Man, you big queen gang trazy listen. We tapped in Man the Pelicans, I got some talent. Man. We're gonna see what y'all do. Man, Yes, sir, proud of you. Man, keep killing you know. We tapped it over here five twenty. We all follow up. Man. You know what I'm saying. Let's go play some more basketball. We've got lots of talking about, man, but keep doing your thing. Manre here we get out of here.
