00:02:26
Speaker 8: Zaga knnessas State.

00:02:28
Speaker 2: So Todd reached out to every beautiful woman in Hollywood, and they have no connection to us, and they all turned us down for the celebrity brackets.

00:02:38

I don't want to change your opinion on your bracket. If you're filling it out, this could shift the odds considerably.

00:03:14
Speaker 3: With March Madness.

00:03:15
Speaker 7: So curious if you're going chalk or.

00:03:19
Speaker 2: Stat of the Day brought to you by PENAI America, the official trading cards of the program, and come up with a poll question Play of the day stat of the Day. Tracy McGrady, who didn't play in college, he'll join us coming up next hour, Miami, Ohio. In a must win situation, I thought perception wise got the win over SMU Prairie View A and m Over Lehigh. You got games coming up at noon, Eastern TCU and Ohio State, Troy, Nebraska, South Florida, Louisville and high Point, Wisconsin. Doesn't it feel like there's a place in Wisconsin called high Point?

00:03:56
Speaker 3: Hey? High Point, Wisconsin? Where's that? Outside of Milwaukee? Troy, Nebraska? Where's that? It's close to Lincoln? Yes, PAULI is.

00:04:06
Speaker 8: That Steven's Point?

00:04:07
Speaker 5: The school that we.

00:04:07
Speaker 3: Love It was Wisconsin Stevens Point. Yeah, you're morphing that.

00:04:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, so high Point could be close to Wisconsin Stevens Point.

00:04:14
Speaker 10: Yes, Dylan, do you want to know what the highest point in Wisconsin is?

00:04:19
Speaker 3: Do you have that?

00:04:20
Speaker 5: I do?

00:04:20
Speaker 3: Thank you?

00:04:21
Speaker 11: I do.

00:04:22
Speaker 3: It is Tim's Hill him hyms Tims Tim's Hill.

00:04:26
Speaker 10: With two m's and fifty one and a half feet. That's not very tall.

00:04:31
Speaker 3: I went to Sims Hill. I went to high school with a guy named Tim Hill.

00:04:36
Speaker 10: I have a friend named Tim Hill.

00:04:38
Speaker 3: And this is oh, you have a friend named Tim?

00:04:41
Speaker 10: Okay, all right, not from Wisconsin?

00:04:43
Speaker 3: Okay.

00:04:45
Speaker 2: I you know, I had to put my bracket in and I so I took it back. So you know, Anthony, could t you know, type up? You know, make a graphic of everybody's rackets and it's in the garbage can and it's all crumpled up. Mario did this and he's like, yeah, uh, do you want your bracket? I go, yeah, let me have it. And then he goes it's in the carbage can. And I like, if I win the whole thing, I was gonna frame it. And now it's all crumpled up here. You know, I've been autographic.

00:05:13
Speaker 8: And yeah, Pauline, they didn't crumple up the lyrics to let it be after they recorded the song.

00:05:21
Speaker 3: Todd would have. Yeah, I was like this stuff, like, yeah, well you're not a big Beatles fan, you know what.

00:05:27
Speaker 9: Ever, since I got like a free Beetles sweatshirt from somewhere from a fan.

00:05:30
Speaker 2: All right, I'm not going down the bro all right. So poll question Dylan, you got to do the honors today? Oh all right, Dan, I got a couple options for you too. While Dylan maybe fiells things in that is perfect, this year's tournament will be mostly chalker.

00:05:45
Speaker 7: What is it called when it's.

00:05:48
Speaker 11: Chalk?

00:05:48
Speaker 3: I think it's called not chalk or upset leyden upset laden more more parody. Wait are you doing the poll questions today.

00:05:57
Speaker 7: I'll give Dylan a head start.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, okay. I wanted to give Dylan something to do. I didn't want to give you too many things to do.

00:06:04
Speaker 10: Yeah, all right, that works out well for me because I was unprepared.

00:06:10
Speaker 2: Today is the day March Madness. Now we get to sixty four teams, we're ready to go. And you know Sunday at the Masters, you got to college football on New Year's Day, NFL and Thanksgiving, everything carries the tradition. March Madness hits different because you know, the interesting part is no champions crowned today, So all this is is just survival today, tomorrow and then the weekend.

00:06:38
Speaker 3: That's all you want to do. Can you get through the weekend, because.

00:06:41
Speaker 2: Then you get a little bit of time, you get some publicity for your school, and then you get a few days before your next round. But the urgency is unmatched. That's what I love about it, because you're just trying to get something that's fleeting and the margins razor thin. The upsets will come. They always do, and that's always the hook because for two days, it's we we kind of throw ourselves in, like studying for a final, cramming for a final all night to go and take it and then come away and act like you know college basketball.

00:07:17
Speaker 3: You win, you move on, you lose, you go home.

00:07:19
Speaker 2: It's simple, it's brutal, it's exhilarating, it's addicting, it's madness, and that's what we love about it. All right, So get your brackets in. You can play along with us with the Celebrity Bracket Challenge.

00:07:31
Speaker 3: What other poll questions or possibility for the first hour of.

00:07:35
Speaker 6: The program, Well, we're starting to, uh, there's some off air talk a little bit about the like sort of reverse draft you might do a little later.

00:07:45
Speaker 3: Okay, Dylan, would you explain this that these are the top four seeds in each bracket each you know, East, West, South, whatever it is.

00:07:55
Speaker 10: Yeah, so we're gonna obviously, I don't know what they're round, north, north, south, whatever.

00:08:01
Speaker 3: I don't know what the regions are. Don't they have like east, west, South and midwest okay or whatever?

00:08:08
Speaker 11: No?

00:08:09
Speaker 10: North? Yeah, So usually obviously the goal is to pick winners in the tournament. We're going to do the opposite. There's plenty of letdowns in the tournament. We're going to take the top four seeds of a pool of sixteen teams, and each draft three teams that we want to or not want to we think will not do well. So you get knocked for advancing.

00:08:31
Speaker 2: But do I get more points if I say I'm gonna take Duke as the number one seed?

00:08:36
Speaker 10: Yeah, so you'll get four points for that. We'll go in reverse artist, So if you take a one seed, you get four points, two seed, three, three seed.

00:08:43
Speaker 3: Okay, so the worst they do, the better I do.

00:08:46
Speaker 10: Correct. So and it's we're calling at the Arizona draft because.

00:08:48
Speaker 2: Historical, because you can take Alabama to four seed and they don't have one of their better players, and but you only get one point if exactly when they balance.

00:09:02
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, we'll want pencil that in.

00:09:06
Speaker 10: There is a prize in what is it? There is a prize?

00:09:09
Speaker 3: What is that?

00:09:11
Speaker 10: I hadn't really thought of a prize, but there will be a prize, a gift card. Why don't you keep me apprized of the prize? A prize that's the word prize. That was a gift?

00:09:22
Speaker 3: Yes, which of these teams?

00:09:24
Speaker 6: Maybe this is going to cut out the point of doing the whole reverse thing, but which of these teams are you most likely to be disappointed by?

00:09:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to cut out the way that cuts out. Can't you wait? No, because I want to do a poll question out of it. Well, why don't we wait to have our draft and then there'll be a pole question. Then we could do a poll question attached to that.

00:09:42
Speaker 7: That sounds like fun.

00:09:43
Speaker 3: We're work shopping this. It's not scripted, yes.

00:09:46
Speaker 8: Paul, should we call it the disappointment Draft to take a little heat off Arizona or a huge and two?

00:09:50
Speaker 12: Soon?

00:09:51
Speaker 3: Man?

00:09:52
Speaker 8: Huge and two?

00:09:52
Speaker 3: Why are we going after Arizona this year? Could this be the year Arizona wins it all?

00:09:58
Speaker 7: Not likely? It's the NCAA mournament at the tournaments.

00:10:04
Speaker 3: The mourn Wow, well you might be surprised with my bracket. You're taking Arizona. I've got Arizona. You don't learn anything, that's all I'm gonna tell you. I got Arizona winning it all. So that you should be uh like, you're not allowed to take them in this draft? Then no, I could you can't head your bets like that.

00:10:31
Speaker 10: I'm gonna win either way, either gonna win it or they're gonna I'm was seating on that one.

00:10:34
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, that's fine. But every year I always I call them the Chargers of college bounsketball. I think they're gonna win. I hope they're going to win, and they don't win, and then they bow out early.

00:10:49
Speaker 3: U see.

00:10:50
Speaker 2: But this year, and even when I was filling out my bracket and then I gave it to the back room guys to type it up so we could show it if you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, and then Mario goes Arizona and I go, yep, yep, this is the year.

00:11:08
Speaker 3: Yes, Dylan, I.

00:11:10
Speaker 10: Feel like Arizona and the Chargers have sort of broken you. You just keep coming back, no matter how mean they are.

00:11:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I haven't done that with the Chargers in a couple of years. He'll be back, and I think when Philip Rivers was there, that was the last time. I don't do it anymore. But Arizona basketball, we're all in. Let's go Cats, come on now. And there's going to be a couple of players where you go, that guy's a star at least for a.

00:11:41
Speaker 3: Day a weekend, five days.

00:11:44
Speaker 2: And the one guy that I think you're going to like, well, okay, the way I used to play basketball.

00:11:51
Speaker 3: I love this guy.

00:11:52
Speaker 11: Now.

00:11:52
Speaker 2: Remember Jack Goldkey at Oakland he knocked off Kentucky. I think he was twenty three years of age. And I remember having Cali Perry on and he was at Kentucky. I go, did you think about double teaming the guy? And oh yeah, smart ass? And I go, I'm just saying that guy was crushing you. High points. Chase Johnston, He's attempted I believe four or five two point shots this year. He shot four free throws. He is sixty four for one thirty two from three point range. He makes forty eight and a half percent.

00:12:30
Speaker 3: From three point range Seeton. That would be stat of the day. Is Marvin's not here.

00:12:39
Speaker 5: Stat of the day? Stat of the day? That past of the day, stat of the day. Here comes that? What stat of the day.

00:12:51
Speaker 7: It seems like mar interesting fact of the day than the heels.

00:12:57
Speaker 3: It's a stat.

00:12:59
Speaker 7: Okay, it's a stat, all right?

00:13:00
Speaker 12: What Paul?

00:13:01
Speaker 8: So you just one hundred and thirty two threes he attempted and he attempted four two's.

00:13:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, we love that.

00:13:07
Speaker 5: Scott.

00:13:08
Speaker 4: I love it.

00:13:08
Speaker 8: He's been in college basketball. This is year six for him for doctor Johnston is.

00:13:13
Speaker 3: Is Cream Abdul Jabbar still with Saint Louis Avila.

00:13:17
Speaker 8: Yeah, of course, I think you want player of the year in the conference.

00:13:19
Speaker 3: Was that Bobby Avilla checking? Yeah, but they had all these nicknames for him.

00:13:27
Speaker 2: But white guy with glasses got some tattoos, Robbi, Robbie Avila.

00:13:32
Speaker 8: Yeah, your Billikins.

00:13:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, Cream Abdul Jamar named crete nickname Miami of Ohio.

00:13:40
Speaker 2: With the win against SMU, they shot thirty nine percent. They took forty one threes. SMU made five three pointers. That was the difference. SMU had a better field goal percentage, free throw percentage and outscored in Miami by twenty six points in the paint and ended up losing.

00:14:01
Speaker 5: Stai the day, Donnie past Dad of the day. Stat of the day? Here comes that what stat of the day.

00:14:13
Speaker 2: And I mentioned that it's less than an hour drive from Oxford, Ohio to Dayton and you could expect a home court advantage for Miami, Ohio. This first hour brought to you by True Green. Good morning, Chris. What's on your mind today?

00:16:00
Speaker 1: Hey?

00:16:00
Speaker 14: Thanks? Dan, got a couple things for you and a question for you. Yeah, Miami of Ohio prove last night they belonged in the attorney and sm you proved the ACC is not the dominant basketball conference that once was from top to bottom. And Dan, earlier in the week, you talked about Don Nelson's unique shooting style. I loved when he used to take foul of shots. He'd shoot him one handed and he held the ball so daintily it was like he was holding a newborn. And also earlier in the week, Dan, you mentioned that you and your wife worked at CNN. And I can't remember exactly this final fourth story, but while you were working a Final four for CNN, didn't you and your future wife go on one of your first dates and you kind of had a good will honey moment and you have pushed your press pass across the bar and said, sorry, guys, got to go see about a girl.

00:16:50
Speaker 2: No, it wasn't that, it's better that way, but it was Villanova Georgetown title game.

00:16:57
Speaker 3: And I went on a date on my first AIDS with my wife.

00:17:01
Speaker 2: We went to Chinatown in New York and there's no monitors about, you know, nobody cares about a basketball game.

00:17:08
Speaker 3: But I wanted to prove to her how much she meant to me.

00:17:11
Speaker 2: It's like, I don't need to watch the national title game, even though I was going to either Georgetown or Villanova whoever won the title to cover the parade. Well, Villanova shocks the world, beats Patrick Ewing, John Thompson, and my wife at the end of dinner goes into the bathroom and I call the hotline number at CNN and I said, hey, can you give me an update on the game, and they go, oh, you didn't see it. Now, in this business, you never want to be told or ask, oh you didn't see it, because then you know, oh my goodness. And then they told me the whole story what Harold Jensen was on fire in the second half and Villanova shocked Georgetown and just then, so I am at a payphone in the Chinese restaurant and I hang up the phone and then my girlfriend, now my wife, comes out, and she goes what.

00:18:09
Speaker 3: I go nothing. She goes, no, something, what something bad happened? I go, no, no, not at all. Was it the basketball game? I said, yes it was, and I said Villanova pulled up pulled off one of the bigger upsets of all time. And she goes, are you mad? I go no, no, not at all.

00:18:31
Speaker 2: I said, but I'm going to have to go to Philadelphia for the victory parade. But not right now, not right now. But yeah, that was one of my first dates. But I was like, I'm going to show her I'm not all about sports.

00:18:45
Speaker 3: Yes, Dally, I.

00:18:46
Speaker 10: Think it actually worked out in your favorite that it was such a great If it was just a snoozer, you'd be like, I don't really care.

00:18:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, But then I think I sent the message that hey, one of the great games of all time. It's okay, I had one of the great meals dates of all time right here with you, no, biggie, Yeah, yes see.

00:19:04
Speaker 6: You might want to consider those shifting it to more of that goodwill hunting story. Yeah, like like just add that in and you could even make it like was it the inspiration for it?

00:19:14
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:19:14
Speaker 6: Maybe it was the inspiration for that scene, but I did say, sorry, fellas, I can't go to the game. Here's my press pass.

00:19:21
Speaker 3: Yes.

00:19:21
Speaker 8: And then if someone doesn't know sports and you're talking to people, say our second date was miracle on ice and I sat that one out too, even though the timeline doesn't match it.

00:19:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it wouldn't have worked that way, but you get it these roles. I'll see what you're saying.

00:19:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I missed all of these great sporting events because I was going on dates with my now wife.

00:19:39
Speaker 8: Joe Montana completed the past to who in the back of the end zone against Dallas.

00:19:42
Speaker 9: Yes, Todd, you didn't feel I need to excuse yourself, permitted and like going to like across the street or a parlat go right after you found out that you missed one of the greatest upsets in college.

00:19:51
Speaker 3: No, no, no, love, you know I love love, Love comes first. Love comes first.

00:19:58
Speaker 10: Yes, Dylan, If like smartphones were as you bickoed us back then, would you have been trying to sneak watch it on your phone at dinner or were you gonna stay drum.

00:20:09
Speaker 2: No, I would have stayed true. I would have you know, I committed to the date, and I would have stayed committed. But if you could have gotten text messages then I probably would have had my phone nearby for that.

00:20:24
Speaker 3: Everything worked down. Thirty eight years later, Everything worked out. Yeh see, thirty eight years later. You get to sit in your basement by yourself and watch whatever you want. Yes, winter, That's that's what I worked towards. Yeah, yeah, walk off you guys, get out of here. I'm watching whatever I want every night.

00:20:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody's gonna bother me. I go downstairs. Yeah, my daughter's cat will join me, and then that's it. Have a cigar and have a little tequila, and I'm.

00:20:49
Speaker 15: Good to go.

00:20:51
Speaker 10: You made up for missing that game along, Yes.

00:20:53
Speaker 4: I did.

00:20:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I remind my wife of that. Hey, I can't afford to have another Villanova Georgetown situation. Hun, All right, did we settle on a poll question here?

00:21:05
Speaker 3: I think we have a chalk or non chalk nun chalk's numb chucks noe? Okay, how are you phrasing the question? This year's tournament will be mostly chalk non chalk. I don't know why that accent comes here. I don't know why you're doing a Boston. Oh is this the good will hunting none? Maybe it's the good will hunting accent there? It could be, Yeah, it could be yeah, chalk heavily winning chalk. Yeah, chalk. Yeah, I would think so too.

00:21:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, when are we revealing our brackets or at least our final four? Is that the final hour for our final four? And then who's going to win the national title? All right, but you have to have your brackets in by the top of the hour, I believe.

00:21:46
Speaker 8: Is that?

00:21:46
Speaker 11: Is that?

00:21:47
Speaker 3: Right?

00:21:47
Speaker 5: Todd?

00:21:47
Speaker 4: That is correct?

00:21:48
Speaker 10: That's exactly a half hour or you're locked out.

00:21:50
Speaker 5: Okay, unfortunately right?

00:21:53
Speaker 2: Uh Dylan wants to play the Jack gold Key game. This was the uh arpshooter from Oakland a couple of years ago, as he knocked out Kentucky almost single handedly.

00:22:05
Speaker 10: Yeah, twenty twenty four tournament. Ye had thirty two points with ten threes. Okay, it's sort of a where are they now? Oh, where's Jack Goldkey?

00:22:15
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:22:15
Speaker 10: A lot of these guys, you know, they come on the scene for a few days and then sort of vanish.

00:22:20
Speaker 3: Is he in Europe? He is not Okay, Todd, your guess, where is Jack Goldkey doing something in.

00:22:28
Speaker 5: The insurance business?

00:22:29
Speaker 3: Insurance business? All right, Seaton, he's a chef.

00:22:36
Speaker 8: I was gonna guess European Basketball League, but I think that's off the board.

00:22:39
Speaker 3: Now.

00:22:40
Speaker 8: I'm going to say he's playing in some type of professional basketball league outside the country.

00:22:47
Speaker 3: Dylan, Well, so at.

00:22:49
Speaker 10: One point he was in Europe. He was actually in Montenegro in twenty twenty four after the tournament. Okay, Currently he is with G leaguer, he is a G leader. He's with the Texas Legends. Okay, Maverick's affiliate prior to that, though he was in Brazil last year. That sounds nice.

00:23:08
Speaker 2: Okay, Jack Goldkey, all right? Still uh still shooting. By the way, I don't Mac McClung is unbelievable. In the G League, he's gonna be. It's like there was a guy who once held the minor league record for home runs. I think his name was Roger Freed, Like he had like two hundred and forty two home runs in the minor leagues, but he couldn't get to the majors. I know he played a little bit. But Mack McClung, I saw him the other night. He put up fifty four, and yes, I'm watching ch league basketball.

00:23:43
Speaker 3: He's unbelievable.

00:23:45
Speaker 2: I know he can't guard anybody, but why there's a lot of guys who can't guard anybody in the NBA. But he shoots threes. Yeah, he'll have double digit assists. I mean, he's he's a different He's so different than everybody else in that league. It feels like, yeah, Pauline, two things.

00:24:03
Speaker 8: How can mac McClung not be on the nets roster? Yes, they're horrid and they're unthreatening, not necessarily in that order.

00:24:11
Speaker 2: But I don't know if Brooklyn's coming out to see mac McClung. But then Brooklyn's not coming out to see the nets, So why don't you give me a shot?

00:24:19
Speaker 3: Yes?

00:24:19
Speaker 8: Well, and the second part is, I think the all time home run leader is now Crash Davis for minor league baseball. I saw the movie he broke the record to Ashville tourists.

00:24:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I don't think that was real. Well, but he might have been Roger Freed, who was in the Phillies organization. Can we check that the all time home run leader for minor leaguers if it's Roger Freed in the Phillies organization.

00:24:41
Speaker 8: You're walking on.

00:24:41
Speaker 3: I'm walking off. That would be a walk off there. Yes, Dylan, I'm seeing.

00:24:48
Speaker 10: That it's not Roger Freed. I'm sorry, I have to stay there.

00:24:53
Speaker 3: I'll stay for the rest of the show.

00:24:55
Speaker 10: Mike Hessman with four hundred and thirty three that would be so bombed front Hesman a Hall of Fame level number of home runs the minor leagues and never made it to.

00:25:04
Speaker 2: The main How many home runs is Roger Freed having his If he's got two hundred and forty two, I'm walking off.

00:25:15
Speaker 10: Checking.

00:25:15
Speaker 2: We're checking, all right, Okay, here's the slate of games today TCU Ohio State Troy, Nebraska, South Florida Louisville High Point versus Wisconsin, Siena versus Duke McNeese against Andy, North Dakota State, Michigan State, Howaii against Arkansas VCU North Carolina, Howard against Michigan, Texas against BYU, A and M versus Saint Mary's Penn versus Illinois, Saint Louis versus Georgia and Kennesas State versus Gonzaga, Idaho versus Houston. Let me see how many games do we have at least a twenty point spread? One, two, three, four five, So we have five teams who are at least twenty point underdogs.

00:26:09
Speaker 3: Now, how about double digits today?

00:26:11
Speaker 2: One two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, ten teams double digit underdogs or double digit point underdogs, Yes, PAULI.

00:26:24
Speaker 8: Back to minor league baseball, of course, Dan and in March most home runs, we're gonna get that in a second. In a minor league career, Roger Free did have the record with two and twenty five. Oh, we're gonna give that to you. Though for a long time. He did play sparingly in the majors and had twenty two homers in the majors, So he was not a didn't make it guy.

00:26:45
Speaker 3: Did he play for the Phillies, Yes, he did, all right, thank you, two seasons, all right, he was, thank you.

00:26:51
Speaker 8: All time home run record as of currently Mike Hessman home run Hessman nineteen seasons, four hundred and thirty three homers.

00:27:00
Speaker 2: Dang DraftKings just sent me the updated basketball odds. Duke is your favorite, slight favorite over Michigan. Then my Arizona Wildcats, Florida Houston, Iowa State and Illinois. So that's according to DraftKings. All right, a couple of phone calls in here Jay and Delaware. Hi Jay, what's on your mind today?

00:27:27
Speaker 12: Hey Dan, Good morning guys. First off, Damnam, just like you, I haven't done in years, but I've decided to do Arizona this year. My bracket's pretty chalk. I do have a couple eleven twelve set upsets in the first round, but that's about it. And second thing, Dan, I'm forty one years old, just like Lebron, and I'm gonna tell you what. Watching that man last night, it is just it's insane. That team is clicking on all cylinders right now.

00:27:52
Speaker 3: Yep, watch out. Yeah, I know you know that.

00:27:56
Speaker 2: It feels like roles have been defined. With the Lake you beat the Rockets again. And this is really important because if Lebron goes out there and knows that he is the third option, capable of being a first option anytime down the floor, but it's Luca then reeves than him, and he was great last night. He missed one shot, ended up with thirty and if you can get that. But it comes back to I need you to be able to stop somebody because at some point, you're gonna Okay, see plays great defense, Spurs play great defense, Celtics play great defense, Lakers not so much. But Lucas scores forty, Lebron had thirty. Lebron was thirteen or fourteen from the floor. You know that's the dangerous team right there, and that's what you want to be. You be a three seed here and to beat the Rockets.

00:28:53
Speaker 3: You know you played him.

00:28:54
Speaker 2: Twice, so you know the familiarity was there. But to watch Lebron and to get and it feels like they go as he goes. I expect Luca to put up volume, Austin reeves to put up good numbers, but Lebron is the what do you need from me? And it takes me back to I believe. Bill Sharman was the coach of the Lakers back in the early seventies and he asked Wilt Chamberlain, I need you to play defense. I need you to rebound in block shots. So the all time leading scorer at the time, he said, I want you to play defense because I got guys who can score, and they ended up winning a title. They won thirty three games in a row. But Wilt and granted Wilt had a bad knee at the time, but still Wilt was committed to being a great defensive player. I think I think he made seventy two point five or nine percent of his shots that year. Everything he had was basically just dunks. But he knew that if they were going to win, it was going to be he was playing defense. Everybody else would worry about the offense. Adam and Michigan. Hi, Adam, what's on your mind?

00:30:08
Speaker 3: Hey Dan? How you doing good?

00:30:11
Speaker 11: Good?

00:30:11
Speaker 15: Good good?

00:30:12
Speaker 8: Hey?

00:30:13
Speaker 15: Fresh called in the other day and said, top five NCAA team go, And You're like, I need three days or nothing or more. And then all of a sudden, you guys just had to populate the list, because you can't throw a list out in front of some fellows and not expect them to populate it. So I just wanted to throw and Ice called Mike Bibby onto that list and then continue with your guys, just.

00:30:33
Speaker 4: Talk about that.

00:30:35
Speaker 2: Hey, he had a great college career. Yeah, I was there when they won the national title, and he had a good pro career. But I go back watching his dad, Henry Bibby, play at UCLA. Not the same player, Mike. Mike was a better player. But Henry Bibby playing for John Wooden, he was a really good player.

00:30:57
Speaker 8: Yeah, paul, I've got Mike Bibby's career. He had a really nice run with Sacramento when they were relevant. Yeah, he did not make an All Star team, and he had a couple of seasons where average twenty and seven.

00:31:09
Speaker 11: Uh.

00:31:10
Speaker 2: Let's see Billy and Iowa. Hi, Billy, what's on your mind today?

00:31:13
Speaker 5: Hi, good morning, Thanks for taking the call.

00:31:16
Speaker 12: Sure, first time sometime.

00:31:18
Speaker 11: Watch on Peacock. I wanted to talk about the retired number thing. I'm a huge Cardinal fan and also a Bear fan, but I like the fact that the Cardinals retire Hall of famers, and I Paula could probably talk about.

00:31:32
Speaker 3: The Bears as well.

00:31:32
Speaker 11: They don't retire numbers like they're going out of style and the other thing I would say, I love your take on Conceptionio and should be in a Hall of Fame, and I agree with you on that.

00:31:43
Speaker 3: So I appreciate you taking my call.

00:31:45
Speaker 2: Thank you, Billy. Yeah, the whole retired jersey number, I mean, make it special. I like the Cowboys had number eighty eight, say Drew Pearson and then Michael Irviant now CD lamp, so it became a tradition an honor to wear that, and I like that. I like what the Cowboys do. They honor the number, and you say you're honoring the number with Drew Pearson, but it's available for you know, Michael Irvin to wear and ceed lamb.

00:32:14
Speaker 4: I like that.

00:32:16
Speaker 2: But if I'm going to USC and I only want to go to USC, or part of going to USC is I need number eleven because that's my number in high school. But you retired that with Matt Lionert. If I'm going to USC, I want to form forge my own career. I want to retire my own number. I don't want Matt Lionerd's number eleven that you want to retire, so you can have it. It's Matt Lionerts. You want a heisman, you get your jersey, retire Yeah.

00:32:46
Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I fall more in line with the you receive the number as an honor, similar to like you're saying with the Cowboys, right, if you're a wide receiver and they give you eighty eight, that's a that's a major honor. Like I'm in line with all of these other guys. I feel like that's something really special. That more teams should do.

00:33:04
Speaker 9: Yes, John, And would you make the number more important than the school? What kind of message does that send? It's like, you really want to play for the USA. If we can't give you eleven because it's retired, now you're going to go somewhere else. Yeah, but I guess of nil money.

00:33:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't know that that's true.

00:33:18
Speaker 9: But if anyone would do it, if anyone would pass on going to a school that's obviously not something that had any major passion to play for that school. If the number is more important.

00:33:26
Speaker 2: Than that, well, if I'm trying to close that player, and I go, yeah, we'll give you eleven, you know, let me call that liner and save if weight and get.

00:33:34
Speaker 3: Hey, let me get Matt on the phone with you. Hey, Hey, Matt, how are you good?

00:33:40
Speaker 2: Hey? I got Jimmy Lipper here and he wants to come to USC but only if he can wear your number eleven.

00:33:44
Speaker 3: Click.

00:33:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that like for me, if the number is that important for recruit, that is a massive red flag, like a gigantic red flag, because that's not the only thing that they're going to be super demanding about. That's the one of the things that they're going to really like stomp their feet. I'd be like, you know what, I'm good.

00:34:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, Pauline.

00:34:04
Speaker 8: But this could be the norm now and not ten years ago. Ten years ago, the wide receiver being recruited by USC wasn't making more than the guy recruiting him, which is absolutely possible for a recruiting coordinator.

00:34:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know what, it's okay to say no to your kids.

00:34:19
Speaker 12: It is.

00:34:20
Speaker 3: It's okay, yes see.

00:34:21
Speaker 6: And I don't know that respect should really be determined singularly on who makes more money in this conversation.

00:34:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, but it gives them the power to ask for things that they might not in their minds. They might be like, hey, you're paying me a couple of million dollars. I want number eleven. You're not getting a number eleven. I can't imagine somebody saying, well, then I'm not going to USC. Yes, Dylan, you.

00:34:46
Speaker 10: Could do like they do in the pros when someone gets traded and then they want the number to be like, I'll give you two undred fifty grand for it.

00:34:52
Speaker 2: But Leonard said, you can't give me anything. I'm not gonna have you on. If you win a heisman, they retire your jersey at USC.

00:34:59
Speaker 3: Yes.

00:35:00
Speaker 6: And the weirdest part of it too, is that USC is the one that decided to retire his jersey, and now they're gonna ask him, do you mind if we unretire your jersey?

00:35:07
Speaker 3: Even though he never asked for it in the first place. It's not like he was like, you know what, I think, I'm retiring my jersey US so you guys can't use it anymore. They made the decision. Let's take a break, we'll update our poll results. We'll talk about the games today and tonight, and our play of the day next.

00:35:44
Speaker 14: Check this out.

00:35:45
Speaker 16: Thirty five for Doncs, thirty for James at a six point lead, Smart throws at James back to DONC on the drive, pulls back.

00:35:55
Speaker 3: Three blue cup Dot larls, the frame t.

00:36:01
Speaker 16: Rockets hoo, the logic is alive.

00:36:05
Speaker 3: Mike Green with a call on the mother Ship.

00:36:07
Speaker 2: Lakers shot over sixty percent from the floor, almost forty seven percent from three point range as they beat the Rockets. We received quite a few correspondents, whether it was tweets or emails, wondering if Marv who allowed an F bomb on the air yesterday, if he was suspended for one show, I would since I'm the head of HR, I prefer not to talk about it, but I'm not going to confirm her deny anything here. Now you could say, is it a incidents you can or maybe somebody had to pay a price for something like that. You'll find out tomorrow when Marvin comes back in. Marvin did show up for work today and he was only here for a little while. His swipe card still worked and then.

00:37:22
Speaker 3: It's a new day, though, huh dang, yeah it is. This is what happens.

00:37:26
Speaker 2: You know, there's consequences for everything. But once again, it could be just a coincidence that Marvin had had an accident yesterday and he's not here today.

00:37:37
Speaker 7: Consequences and repercussions.

00:37:38
Speaker 2: Yes, that's the way it works. So Dylan is in Seaton's chairs. Seaton moved up to Dylan's seat, and yes, Dylan, what I.

00:37:48
Speaker 10: Just want to say, thank you for the opportunity to replace Marvin. It's only for one show. I'm glad you went with the safe bet.

00:37:55
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:37:56
Speaker 10: No, F bomb's over here.

00:37:58
Speaker 3: No, you would not do that.

00:38:00
Speaker 6: Did demand a certain number, though, villain, which I thought was a little aggressive.

00:38:03
Speaker 2: But no, he said, I'm gonna wear Marvin's So that's the Golden Knights hockey jersey that he got when we were in Vegas.

00:38:12
Speaker 10: Yep, it has prints on the back. Marvin. He bequeathed it to me, and now I'm sort of eulogizing him with it.

00:38:19
Speaker 3: I'll be careful when you're queathing, be quefing. I usually try.

00:38:26
Speaker 2: Uh.

00:38:27
Speaker 3: Let's see Josh in Kansas. Good morning, Josh. What's on your mind today?

00:38:33
Speaker 5: Hey?

00:38:34
Speaker 4: DP, what's up?

00:38:34
Speaker 3: Man?

00:38:35
Speaker 5: Hey?

00:38:36
Speaker 4: I just had a real quick question on USC and Matt liners jersey. Is there any repercussions if USC just lets the recruit have his jersey number?

00:38:47
Speaker 3: Do they just look bad? That would that would bad be in bad taste?

00:38:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, I know if there was a h fine or something.

00:38:57
Speaker 3: No, I don't.

00:38:58
Speaker 2: I don't think you wanted you know, you just say the jersey's not available, that's all. And it's available if you know Matt wants it to be available and he doesn't. Yes, yes, Paulie.

00:39:10
Speaker 8: What if her recruit asked for number thirty two with USC football?

00:39:15
Speaker 4: Wow?

00:39:15
Speaker 8: Would they gladly give it out and hopefully he gets two heismans?

00:39:22
Speaker 3: We should check has anybody worn thirty two? For those who don't know, Yeah, o J. Simpson's jersey.

00:39:28
Speaker 10: This recruit would definitely ask for thirty two.

00:39:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, wrong, Yes, to take a stab out it. Maybe they'll say yes, you don't know, no, go there. No, I'd say you're better than that, but you're not. No, you're not. David in Ohio, Hi David.

00:39:47
Speaker 17: Yeah, they thought might be taught. Might get suspended after allegedly after that comment.

00:39:52
Speaker 12: Anyway.

00:39:53
Speaker 17: I don't know if you saw Dan, but Rory McElroy announced his Master's dinner and I think he's forgetting one main side dish and that is Rory mcilroney and Jean thank you, Thank you, thank you, David.

00:40:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's quite a meal. It doesn't feel like it's Northern Ireland. The menu here for his master's dinner. Yeah, Paulie Dylan found some things that Rory said. It's a mishmash of places he's been, people he's talked to, you, tried to work in some other influences.

00:40:26
Speaker 3: Yes see. Yeah, his his menu is way more la than it is Belfast. Yes, for sure. I'm guessing the food in Belfast maybe not a lot to choose from there. I haven't been to Bellfast.

00:40:41
Speaker 8: Oh, staying there, you have Belfast cuisine.

00:40:44
Speaker 10: Yeah, Belfastian tuna carpaccia.

00:40:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of tempora. One hour in the books already on this Thursday. Get your brackets in. Go to Danpatrick dot com to do so.
