The Knicks getting one and a half tonight, Spurs are giving four and a half in Minnesota, and then on Saturday, the thunder favored by eight and a half in Los Angeles. Pistons are getting four and a half against the Cavaliers. I have to admit when Cad Cunningham was drafted number one a few years ago, it was like, well, somebody has to go number one. And I watched him in college and there are times where you go, Okay, he must be one of those guys who has a ton of potential, because I don't see him as one of those franchise guys like your number one option. Well, he's proved me wrong. He's tied for first in points per game with SGA in the playoffs. He's the top scorer in the fourth quarter this year of all players, and he's fifth in assists. You know, he's getting the ball and he wants the ball and he makes things happen, and that's happened in this series so far. Now, granted they're supposed to win these games at home, he had twenty five and ten assists and taking a two to zero series lead. You know, those are big points that he's getting. And this is what we want, Jalen Brunson. I want you to be a big time player, and he's proven to be that, SGA. This is where reputations are made or reputations are reinforced, like James Harden, because when you're putting up more turnovers than made field goals and you're supposed to be one of the guys, you're supposed to be a guy who was going to be the difference maker for this team. They were already good last year. He's supposed to be the guy that you can count on for a bucket and that hasn't been the case. All right, Dylan, Poll question result so far?

Speaker 2: This shouldn't be a surprise that the Knicks could be on the precipice of you know, going back to the Eastern Conference Finals, maybe going to the finals, but you bring in a new coach. The window was open for Cleveland, Detroit, the Knicks, everybody in the East. With Jason Tatum, we weren't sure his availability. And the Knicks I thought were built to beat Boston. It looks like they're built to beat anybody, although they struggled against Detroit during the regular season. But you know, I usually throw that out because I want to know, you know, it's like a team that's really good in college basketball, you know, the Maui Invitational, and you know, the first month of November, I want to know what you're playing like when you get to uh, you know, February, because that's more emblematic of just how good your team is. The Knicks are playing extremely well, and it's not just offense they're playing. They're playing defense that Tom Thibodeau would be proud of. With Mike Brown, they're talking about maybe Tibbs going back to the Chicago Bulls.

I was surprised that the entire team was huddled around the officials after the game, And as Charles Barkley said last Hour, that doesn't accomplish anything. Now, Phil Jackson always early in a series, wanted to make sure that he planted something in the officials' minds. Always. Now, granted he still had the talent on the Bulls and talent on the Lakers, but I Phil would always do it, and he would do it in a way where it wasn't public. It was usually during a game and he would say something and he would talk about that later. You know, we just want to make sure that we're emphasizing something, that you're looking out for something they're doing this to Michael. Can we make sure that we're fair, you know, in assessing this. And it's Phil Jackson, And it didn't come off to me as I'm whining. I just want to help you do your job better. Hey, I'm not critiquing you. I want to help you do your job better. Oh okay, Phil, thanks, And it just so happens it could help your team, could you you know what, since you want me to help, you're going to help me do my job better, could you also help me officiate what I'm looking at with the Utah Jazz, Like, let's be fair, Phil, if you want to help me do my job. But Phil would Phil would you know he could get to an official. John Wooden could get to an official, and that's what you do, you lay groundwork. But I wouldn't huddle my team around an official because if I'm the commissioner, man, I'm really looking at this next game in Los Angeles, how it's officiated. I mean, I know that's what the Lakers want, but if i'm if I'm the commissioner of the NBA, and then what if Okac gets around the official if they lose the game Game three? He was getting fouled on purpose. That was their game plan. Shack. Shaq was getting fouled on purpose. That was the game plan. Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt and Shaq couldn't make free throws? I would say with the Lakers he had a season where he shot sixty two percent, but then it got worse again. It never really improved.

Speaker 2: Wald Fraser had thirty six points, nineteen assists, seven rebounds, leading the Knicks to a one thirteen ninety nine win over the Lakers. That was Game seven of the NBA Finals. I think Clyde might have had six steals in there. Steals wasn't a big stat when we were growing up. Assist were obviously points block shots. But Wald Fraser, he didn't win the MVP. Willis Reid did. This is this is one of the greatest Game seven close out games in NBA history. And Willis Reid came out because he he had a knee injury, He didn't know if he was going to play, hit two quick buckets, and he was named the MVP of the Finals.

That was off Troy Percival, wasn't it Like that was upper deck. I think it went up into the concession area. You imagine you're out there getting a beer a hot dog. All of a sudden the ball comes bouncing through and you look out and you go, oh, Bonds. And remember, Bonds is the one who couldn't throw out Sid Bream from left field. Sid Bream was slower than me, and he ended up scoring against the Pirates.

And he was unbelievable, and I think he kind of undid some of the negative thoughts people had about him, you know, in the playoffs, because he was great. I think we look at a pitcher and their success as opposed to a hitter in the postseason, because you got the ball and back, you know, in the good old days, you were probably going eight maybe nine innings. Willis Reid averaged twenty three, ten and a half rebounds, and almost three assists in six games in the NBA Finals. So in fairness to him, those are great numbers against Wilt and the Lakers. But Wold Fraser that close out game. If now it's over with, I keep trying to fight this battle for Walt Fraser. He was He was one of my favorite players because I never saw somebody move like that. Like we look at Kawhi and Luca and they moved differently. Wold Fraser moved differently. It wasn't quick, it wasn't fast, it wasn't slow. He moved at his own speed. And I always marvel Sga moves at his own speed instead of I'm going to get to a spot real quick or fast. Uh. They just tend to move you with them.
