00:00:04
Speaker 2: Our one on this Tuesday, Dan and the Dan That's Dan Patrick Show, Fritzy Seaton, Marv Paully, Yours truly Dan Patrick Show, and of course the very valuable backroom guys, Bill Cower will join us next hour. Reggie Miller will stop by your phone calls always welcome. Operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your calls at each seven to seven three DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com and our Twitter handle at DP show got to play the day poll question stat of the Day. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock. Thank you also the NBC Sports Network and our radio affiliates around the country, numbering over four hundred cities that carry this award nominated program. Texan's Roll the Steelers last night. It was a very deceptive final score because it didn't feel thirty to six. We went into the fourth quarter two minutes in. It's a one point game. The Texans played great defense.

00:01:01
Speaker 3: C J.

00:01:02
Speaker 2: Stroud didn't play well at all. The Steelers were kind of The Steelers defense played pretty well. They just weren't threatening and you don't have a you know that pass rush against Aaron Rodgers, they hit him twelve times. Twelve times when you're forty two is like twenty times when you're twenty two. So Rogers is at his last game, I'm sure people are going to say the following, Oh, you can't go out that way. What makes you think he's going to be any better next year. It's the same thing with Travis Kelcey. Oh you can't go out this way. We use this. We say this as if I'm going to stay, and then you stay, and you played well, and maybe your team wins, and then you go, I can't go out this way, Yes you can. Aaron Rodgers, I'd be surprised if he played again. And look, those numbers weren't bad during the regular season. I think if you said, and I think I did, say, if he replicated what Russell Wilson did, and you go, you know, twenty five twenty six touchdowns and six or seven interceptions, you play good defense, you're gonna make the playoffs, as they always do. And that's kind of who they were. But the more you look at it, they probably overachieved. They're not a good team, but they somehow got in. You know, the Ravens missing the kick, they get in and they went against a really good young defense. That's a great defense that'll keep them in every game. It'd be really I'd be really surprised if they would get blown out.

00:02:34
Speaker 1: You know.

00:02:35
Speaker 2: CJ. Stroud played terrible. When you have five fumbles lost a couple of them, you allow the Steelers to stay in that game. And I think all of us in the back of our minds kept thinking, man, you're going to give Rogers a chance. You're gonna give them a chance, and then all of a sudden, you get a couple of defensive touchdowns and you get a blowout there. So thirty to six the final, the Texans rush for one hundred and sixty four yards, and that's your difference. What he marks went for one to twelve. That's the most by a rookie in a playoff game since twenty twenty, and Rodgers' final numbers one forty six, the fewest passing yards of his twenty two playoff starts. Also, that pick six the final pass, the first that he has thrown in eight hundred and seven career postseason passing attempts. So let me focus on Rogers right now, and then we'll look at Mike Tommlin. Here is Aaron Rodgers ask about what he's going to do next year?

00:03:34
Speaker 4: And is that game affect your decision for what to do next year in anyway?

00:03:39
Speaker 5: No, I mean, I'm not going to make any emotional decisions. Disappointed, you know, obviously such a fun year, you know, a lot of adversity, but a lot.

00:03:49
Speaker 2: A lot of fun.

00:03:50
Speaker 5: Been a great year, you know, overall my life in the last the last year, and this is you know, a really good part of that coming here and being part of this team. So it's this pointing to be sitting here, what's season over?

00:04:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not going to make a quick decision there because he hasn't made quick decisions before this drags out. But you wonder, if you're Pittsburgh, Let's say you're Mike Tomlin and you come back, do you want Aaron Rodgers to come back? If you're the Steelers, do you want Mike Tomlin to come back? Do you want Aaron Rodgers to come back? Now, I certainly get the feeling, and I don't have any insight, any information other than what you probably have available to you. And that is, if Mike wants to come back, he can come back and if he wants to take a year or two often do TV that's going to be available. Aaron Rodgers, his prospects aren't very good because if it's not Pittsburgh, who's going to bring in Aaron Rodgers? Who will then be forty three? And he did look forty three last night. He looked even older than that. His lineman looked forty three. But Aaron Rodgers, I don't see him doing TV. It feels like he'll do He'll be Joe Rogan, He'll do something like that and probably, you know, he has the freedom to do that. He can then you know, have an audience, have a platform, and probably make a ton of money. As for Mike Tomlin, I see him doing TV probably for a couple of years, and then you know, and being around Tony Dungeye and some of these other coaches when I was at the mother Ship, they really needed it. They needed to almost disengage from all of that. And then you're able to watch, You're able to you get to enjoy, you get to see, you're watching football, you're talking football, and you don't wake up on Monday or Tuesday morning feeling like he does. And I'll talk to Bill Kauer about that next hour of you know that sort of disengage and then you kind of settle in. And we've seen a lot of coaches who do that and then they go back in and then you'll there's going to be six or seven openings next year and the year after that six or seven openings. The question is does he want to coach again and if so where? But I don't. I don't see him coaching another team this next season other than if he does, it's it's Pittsburgh. But I started to watch and just say, I know he had a you know, he has a winning record, he got into the playoffs. They're they're just not a threatening team. Now I'm not a DK Metcalf fan. Just didn't feel like they could do anything where you go, wow, that team is that they can they can get they can put some points up there, and the defense played pretty well, but it feels like an old team and maybe because you got Rogers, but it feels like your window is small. Just ask the Detroit Lions. Because we make this mistake, we go and they'll be back next year. There is no guarantee of next year, and the Lions are for removed from Super Bowl contention, and they were healthy this year. There's no guarantee, Oh, Pittsburgh will have a winning record next year. Okay, But as I said to you, either early this week or last week, if you said to a Steeler fan, hey, I'll give you ten years of making the playoffs, but you don't win a playoff game, you're going to sign up for that? And the answer is no, you're not. But how many franchises would sign up for that? You're relevant, you make the playoffs, you play in big games, but you don't win playoff games. And that's where Pittsburgh is. Mike Tomlin, I think with that roster probably overachieved. Now, the division wasn't very good because the Bengals weren't good, the Browns certainly weren't good, and the Ravens were average as well. But if you're the Steelers, do you want to bring back Mike Tomlin? Do you hope that he decides to take a TV job? Aaron Rodgers got a little frosty on Mike Tomlin possibly being on the hot seat.

00:08:06
Speaker 5: I mean this, This league has changed a lot in my twenty one years. You know, when you hear conversation about the the Mike Tomlins of the world, Matt Lafleor's of the world. Those just two that kind of have played for And when I first got in the league, there wouldn't be conversation about whether those guys were.

00:08:23
Speaker 2: On the hot seat, you know.

00:08:25
Speaker 5: But the way that the league is covered now and the way that there's snap decisions and validitally given to the you know, the Twitter experts and all the experts on TV now you make it seem like they know what the hell they're talking about. To me, that's an absolute.

00:08:39
Speaker 2: Joke, Okay. Is he blaming the so called experts or the people who listen to the so called experts, because we can say whatever we want if you get some team president or GM going. You know, I was listening to Dan Patrick, you know what, I'm thinking that ain't happening. There are a lot of experts out there, erin you, but I don't think any front office is going, uh wait, what did they say? What did Ryan Clark say on get up Damian Woody? What are they what should we do? Yeah?

00:09:12
Speaker 4: Suton, right, And why would you compare guys like Ryan Clark and Damian Woody or say like Teddy Bruski or Jeff Saturday. Their opinions are the same as random people on Twitter. Yeah, why would you like lump them all together? They're they're former players, just like you're eventually going to be. Why do not have the respect for them too?

00:09:32
Speaker 1: Yeah?

00:09:33
Speaker 2: Look, you know, I understand Aaron's going to take a shot at the media. I get that, but you know, be fair in who you're taking a shot at here, Because if you're a front office and you're waiting to listen to Dan Orlobsky and you're going to go, that's the decision we're going to make. I'm going to put that on the front office, not Dana Rolopsky or if you get somebody who's never played the game like me. Yeah, I don't.

00:09:57
Speaker 4: We keep linking them, but I think it's because they're in such sim situations. With John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin, And sometimes I don't know that you can make a snap decision on a coach that's been there for twenty years. I don't really know that nobody this year is just like, whoa one bad year with Tomlin? Better get him out of there. Sometimes I think that Harbaugh and Tomlin are in the exact same situation in that sometimes it just runs its course. It's been twenty years or almost twenty years, fifteen twenty years, whatever it's been. You know, maybe we've just kind of gone as far as we can and maybe you go look somewhere else now.

00:10:32
Speaker 2: And it's happened down through history with coaches. I mean, this isn't anything new. And he didn't just sit on a hot seat. The seat the temperature was being raised locally in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, not nationally. That the conversation about Mike Tomlin locally is far different than nationally because all of these former players and they're all saying the same thing. Man, that's guy you want to play for. Man, a great job. Man, he always wins. Locally, they're going, we haven't won a playoff game in ten years. Yes, we have a five hundred or better record. Yay. And see Pittsburgh is always like they're never going to be bad enough where they can get better because they're kind of in the middle, Like you're not going to be drafting in the top five, and that's part of the problem. Like it's weird to say they got to get worse to get better. But this happens with NBA teams all the time. You get worse to get better, Like the Spurs got bad, they got the number one pick and then they got the number two pick, and go back to when they had Duncan and David Robinson. They had to be bad to get good. Pittsburgh's never I mean, it's a credit to that organization and I don't see them doing a rebuild. And if they do, does Mike Tomlin want to be around for that? Yeah, Paulie.

00:12:05
Speaker 6: I was looking at what coaches from the past who got fired who were really shocking, and probably the biggest one all time is Tom Landry in Dallas, and I wanted to look because I don't remember that well.

00:12:14
Speaker 2: He missed the playoffs three straight years.

00:12:16
Speaker 6: Seven and nine, seven and eight, but his last year he was three and thirteen, And like you said, there's the opening, because Tom Landry never had a three and thirteen season. And then finally that was the one.

00:12:27
Speaker 2: Our stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of The Dan Patrick Show and the first home We're brought to you by the great folks at tire Rack Rover forty years helping us find the right tires for how and what and where we drive ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation tire rack dot com is the way tire buying should be. Whole question, Seaton, what do you have for me?

00:12:51
Speaker 4: I think we're going to go with a couple of yes no options right out of the gate. Pretty basic, pretty standard, what you expect. Has Aaron Rodgers played his last games as Mike Tomlin coached his last game with the Steelers.

00:13:03
Speaker 2: Yes, no, yes, no. We got to get everybody on record. Okay, Well, we'll take a break and we'll answer try to answer those questions coming up, other pole questions. Bill Cower will join us, and we'll also check in with Reggie Miller as well. I saw where who's now? James Harden is now ninth on the all time scoring list. He just surpassed Shaquille O'Neal. And we were wondering this this morning when I came in, wondering where's James Harden? Like, when it's all said and done, how do we view James Harden? Because you can make a case he did change the game. Now you might say did he change the game for the better. Because Steph Curry changed the game, James Harden changed the game as well. But I don't know how history like Russell Westbrook Junior, the third I don't know history is now. They're both first BATTL Hall of famers. But we'll talk about that. James Harden's he's ninth on the all time scoring list. We'll take a break, we'll get back to you with your phone calls. We'll settle on our poll question. We're back after this.

00:14:52
Speaker 2: Subscribe, hit that thumbs up icon and comment away games for next week. The Bills are now on underdogs in Denver. It was one and a half points that the Bills would be giving now they're getting one and a half, the Niners getting seven and a half at Seattle, the Texans plus three against the Patriots, and the Rams minus three and a half against the Bears. So the only change was Buffalo in Denver. And you've got some injuries there. You've got Nico Collins, Christian Gonzalez, like those are marquee guys. Concussion protocol and Okay, I'm gonna sound like the grumpy old man that I am. I appreciated having a football game on last night. I don't think we should have Monday night games in the playoffs. I just don't think that it's fair a shorter week regular season. Obviously, Mothership's gonna get Monday night football games. We have Thursday night games, but the playoffs. I'm not even big on Saturday. But you know, I'm not going to turn down watching a football game. I just want to be fair to the teams. And you know, the Texans after that game, so you get it, you know, half day, a full day less than everybody else. So I'm watching it and it wasn't good football either. Maybe that played into it as well, Yeah, maybe they Yeah, but I just do we need Monday night football. And I know Mothership pays a lot of money they want a standalone game. I get it, but I could do without it if it meant that everybody's going to be starting from the you know, same same page, square one, yeah, Mark.

00:16:42
Speaker 7: And it's also messing up next week's divisional round because the game that everyone wants to see, the Bills versus the Broncos, it's going to be Saturday. That's a Houston Texans I know time, yes, not the Bills versus the Broncos. So that messed up everything for next weekend too.

00:16:57
Speaker 2: And that's the first game on Saturday, correct, because you got Rams and Bears then on Saturday Night. But you had to put the Texans on Sunday. And they're going to be the early game against the Patriots or Niners Seahawks Saturday night.

00:17:11
Speaker 6: Yes, paulin, are we automatically playing the game if you could only watch one game this weekend already?

00:17:17
Speaker 2: We can't do that now, No, no, no, I can't do that yet. We'll do a Friday, Maybe Friday the most watched game of the weekend instead of the most must win game of the weekend. All right, is this sustainable what the Texans did last night? Now, I don't expect c. J. Stroud to have five fumbles, but that defense is great. It is Will Anderson, d Nale Hunter the secondary. But I don't know if this is sort of like the Ravens with Trent Dilfer. Hey, all you got to do is get ten points. That was the famous line. Ray Lewis said, Hey, just get ten points, guys, and then we'll win the game. I don't know if it's similar to that, but that is a very very good defense.

00:18:07
Speaker 8: You know.

00:18:07
Speaker 2: I go back to the Patriots when they had an elite defense, when Tom Brady was just starting. They weren't winning because of Tom Brady. They were winning because of their defense. Even with Eli Manning, the defense was great. Those Super Bowl wins they won because of defense and of course some big passes by Elive the Broncos in twenty sixteen, an elite defense helping Peyton Manning win another Super Bowl in his final season. Defense travels, it does now if you get a running game and that defense I'm asking CJ. Stroud to just be threatening occasionally threatening. And I know Pittsburgh got a good defense. You're playing on the road, and I understand all of that, but you know, he's got to have a game. He's got to have, you know, a Rmans against the Patriots here. But that I mean, I wouldn't be a surprised Texans won that game. I really think that much of that defense. It's just I don't know about CJ. Stroud. I want to see a big moment from him that he can kind of accompany that defense, not be hey, I'm kind of hanging on for dear life, or you're carrying me to the next round and you get a running game. Okay, I don't know about Nico Collins. That's a big loss there, big loss, you know, for an offense that wasn't very threatening. And then you have the question of, okay, what are the Steelers do. Let's take Mike Tomlin out of the equation right now. Okay, if I'm the Steelers, what am I thinking now? I don't know if it factors in if Mike Tomlin comes back or not. You still need to find a quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Moving forward, shouldn't be your number one option. Can you trade can you trade up? Is there a quarterback you want? Can you have a gap year and say all right, let's uh, maybe we do get a little worse to then get a little better. But that's the hard party. Who are you getting? Are you sold on any of these quarterback Fernando Mendoza? You're not getting? You sold on Trinidad Shambless. Yeah, Paulie.

00:20:28
Speaker 6: The Steelers right now have the twenty first pick of the draft. They also have a lot of cap space. They're eighth in the league in available cap space with thirty three million, so they're in pretty decent shape money wise, especially.

00:20:39
Speaker 2: If Rodgers leaves. So what do you do?

00:20:44
Speaker 6: I'll throw one out. Would you if you weren't going to stick with Rogers because you don't think he can get you further? What about trading for a guy like Mac Jones of the forty nine Ers?

00:20:53
Speaker 2: I would take Mac Jones over Aaron Rodgers right now. Mac Jone's probably twenty eight. Yeah. Yeah, Now, once again, I'm one of those guys that Aaron Rodgers is probably talking about that I don't know what I'm talking about, But would I take Mac Jones. I mean, the reason why the Niners are where they are is because Mac Jones won five of eight games for them. And I do think he's a star. I think he's he's rock Purty. He just saw Gett paid two hundred and sixty five million dollars. He's a little less pretty, thank you, thank you, thank you, but still handsome. Mac Jones would be great.

00:21:33
Speaker 9: You know.

00:21:34
Speaker 2: Then you get a younger quarterback, but you know, you're kind of in that no man's zone there, like who are we? What are we? We're still defense and running the football. We're an older team. Ravens getting a new coach, Bengals will run it back. Maybe the Browns figured out one of these days. So it's a winnable division, and it's a division that's in a state of flux here. But I don't know what you know trying to find that quarterback who's more than just a bridge quarterback. And it's not that Aaron Rodgers can't play. It's just sometimes when you play and I saw this with Michael Jordan with the Wizards, when you play the way he did with the Bulls and then you go to the Wizards, well you're not that same guy you may think you are, and that's part of the problem. You know, Rogers used to roll right and just he'd be throwing darts. He was unbelievable. Well, now you might kind of roll right, but you're not getting you know, you're not running away from anybody. And he was more Joe Flacco last night, more stationary and you know, you're not even throwing for two hundred yards there, So trying to find that Guybody's trying to find that guy.

00:23:02
Speaker 10: Yeah.

00:23:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like in our in our head, we think that Aaron Rodgers is more Matthew Stafford than Joe Flacco is really more Joe Flacco.

00:23:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, lad pol.

00:23:11
Speaker 6: Bringing Joe Flacco a younger quarterback, he's forty and a half.

00:23:15
Speaker 2: We're gonna go with the younger quarterback, with the young Who are we going with Flacco? Steelers youth movement reach out to Tom Brady. You know why not?

00:23:25
Speaker 10: Tom?

00:23:25
Speaker 2: Do you want to win a Super Bowl with a third franchise? Here, we'll bring you in, all right, we'll get phone calls coming up. Also, I mentioned that James Harden is now the ninth all time leading score in NBA history. There was a time when I thought he was must see TV, you know, when he would go for thirty three thirty four points, eleven assists. He created a move. Now we all thought, maybe you still think it's traveling. But he did create almost like Manu Ginobli created the euro step. He created that step back jumper. But he didn't win. Is anybody going to retire his jersey? The Clippers had never retired a jersey. They should be retiring Chris Paul. But okay, so he's not. Does Houston retire his jersey? And okay, that's not the mark of you know whatever, excellent, But he's just kind of been that guy who puts up great numbers. It's like Russell Westbrook Junior the third where I go, first bound Hall of Famer. But what how do you how do you sum up Russell Westbrook? He was a triple double? Okay? What else?

00:24:55
Speaker 6: Yes, Paul James harden Peak years Houston Rockets. He had seasons with third thirty six and nine thirty four, even crazy thirty six and nine thirty four and eleven. I mean, these are really nuts. He led the league and assist twice, he led the league in scoring three times. He got them to the play. He played in eighty five playoff games for the Houston Rockets. It's a lot of playoff games without getting to the promise.

00:25:18
Speaker 2: But he had. He had a few playoff games where he played terrible.

00:25:22
Speaker 7: Yes, Mark, they were up three to two on the Warriors and then decided to miss twenty seven straight three pointers in Game seven. That's what I remember. And people were gonna forget that he played for the Sixers and the Nets. It's gonna look like a journeyman almost, yep. But he's one of the top ten greatest scorers of all time statistics wise.

00:25:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just weird. You know, I've been doing this so long. I see you when you come in, I see you when you leave, and you know, you try to have a Rolodex in your mind. You go, Okay, what do you remember about that guy? And it feels like Harden created a move. That's what I'll remember him more so because he didn't play in big he didn't perform in big games, Yes, Todd, So do you think it.

00:26:09
Speaker 11: Would be unwarranted or desperate of the Rockets too at some point put Harden's jersey up on the on the rafts to me when I think Harden, I think the first team. I think of his Rockets, and not just because of the number of years he played there. But I don't think it would be odd to see Harden's jersey hanging from the Rockets rafters.

00:26:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't. I mean, if they put it up there, that's the French, you know, they decide what they want to do. But I'm just saying that, did he leave a mark any place that he played? Yeah, only I'm looking at the Rockets retired numbers. I think he's getting in. Alvin Hayes, Rudy, Tom Jonovich, Hakeem Olajuan, of course, Moses Alone, of course, Calvin Murphy, Clyde Drexler. Yao Ming got in. Yao Ming had six good years and maybe two great years, and he got in injuries. Of course, I think he's getting in. You need a ceremony every once every decade or so. Yeah, But Yo Ming had an I packed on the NBA coming from China, so that that was more than just him playing basketball there. You're right, it was a shorter career than what you would have hoped for there with him. But I don't know, James Harden. It felt like he's gonna get his I just don't know if they're gonna win. That goes back to you can put up great numbers, are you a great player? Now, he's a great player. It's just he's not somebody that I would have won on my team, not if I was trying to win a championship. Now, if I wanted somebody I could go and see every night, yeah, I would want him on my team.

00:27:33
Speaker 8: Yeah.

00:27:34
Speaker 4: It feels like there was a point in time that you could have had him on your team. There was an early James Harden that was like, dang, we might be able to figure something out with this.

00:27:44
Speaker 12: Well.

00:27:44
Speaker 2: He was a curiosity in OKC because they had Westbrook and they had Durant and then Harden, and then Harden wanted his own team and went to Houston.

00:27:53
Speaker 6: Yeah, Paul, I'm looking at the all time scoring list and Steph Curry as of today is twenty first with twenty six two fifty. There's this log jam between twenty four thousand and twenty seven thousand. At his pace, Steph Curry, this year he's twenty first. Now he will be He'll be twelfth at the end of the season. He'll go from twenty first to twelfth.

00:28:14
Speaker 2: How many other players can James Harden surpass? Uh? Nobody.

00:28:18
Speaker 6: I don't think Wilt Chamberlain is almost three thousand points ahead of him in the A spot.

00:28:24
Speaker 2: Okay, that's takes some work. Yeah, but if he plays another couple of years, he's gonna get him up. Yeah.

00:28:31
Speaker 6: Well, I have a quick quiz for you if you want it, A quick quiz, an NBA quiz Marvin Fritzy, No, no, NBA music Fitty.

00:28:49
Speaker 2: Now give me NFL. We are Fox Sports, alright, boll.

00:28:56
Speaker 6: Okay, I'm removing the top ten scores of all time. Who's would you want? Of the guys from eleven to twenty?

00:29:03
Speaker 2: You got to pick their career. I'll go quickly.

00:29:05
Speaker 6: Carmelo Anthony, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, a Keem Elijahwan, Russ Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, Not Robinson, Dominique Wilkins, season, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, John Halichick. Those are the second ten scores in NBA history.

00:29:24
Speaker 2: I'm gonna say Tim Duncan, and then I'm going to give John havelcheck. Who might He's on the top five most underrated players of all time? I think he won eight titles, didn't lose a championship, and I think he had twenty six thousand points. And Bill Russell said, he's the best player that I've ever played with. And then I would put a keam Elijahan in there, who I one of my all time favorite players. So you got to put Timmy in there because he's a top ten player. Hailcheck was wonderful, created the sixth band, and then you put a Keem in there. Yeah, Paul the.

00:30:00
Speaker 6: Least respected guy in the top twenty. I'm gonna say Carmelo Anthony or Dominique Wilkins.

00:30:07
Speaker 2: I'd say Carmelo because Niek was the human highlight. Carmelo was the human black hole, one of the great mid range jumpers of all time. Oh, I know you love I You know what when I talk to a girl and she say, what do you do? Well, I go, I got a damn good mid range jumper. Where's your car? Oh? I don't have a car. I have a bike, not a motorcycle. Yes, Seaton.

00:30:35
Speaker 12: Yeah.

00:30:35
Speaker 4: When Paul ran through that list, my answer was Carmelo Anthony. Even though I know you're supposed to say Tim Duncan, You're supposed to say then after that, maybe Paul Pierce or whatever. There's a certain hierarchy of guys you're supposed to say none of them are wrong. But I think sort of to Paul's point, and a really underappreciated career, maybe it never quite lived up to what we thought it was going to be. But he was an awesome player.

00:30:59
Speaker 7: Yeah, Moses Malone probably the most disrespected three time MVP of all time bar nine. His name is never mentioned in the top ten, and.

00:31:08
Speaker 2: Even when you talk about great centers of all time, Momomo faux fo fo doesn't get mentioned in that. His highlight tape, though, is not No, it's not good. A couple of stickbacks, it's not good. It was. Oh there's another offensive rebound and there's a putback.

00:31:23
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:31:24
Speaker 2: Oh, there's a little like a seven foot floater. Yes, Paulie, my pick.

00:31:29
Speaker 6: Is Hakim Olijan. It's pretty obvious. I still think he's underrated and his game would translate to today whatever because he had that, you know, twelve foot baseline shot, very athletic.

00:31:39
Speaker 2: Got the dream shake he was his footwork was so good, so good.

00:31:44
Speaker 7: Yes, Marph, Sorry, going back to Moses Malone, I just remember him, just absolutely dominating. Kareem Abdul Jabbar like oh cream won it? No part of Moses Malon Dame.

00:31:53
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Wow, careful coming after Kareem?

00:31:57
Speaker 1: All right?

00:31:58
Speaker 2: It was just facts, all right, just facts, all right. We'll get to your phone calls coming up. A lot of people want to talk about Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin, the Steelers moving forward. 00:32:28
Speaker 2: Play This is the play of the day.

00:32:32
Speaker 1: Check this out.

00:32:33
Speaker 10: Fourth and five, Rogers looks it over.

00:32:35
Speaker 2: Here's the snap. Rogers hit the pocket.

00:32:38
Speaker 10: Rogers bringing a downfield and picked off at the fifty pull off to his left forty thirty five thirty pullock twenty pull off a better that the sideline maintains its balance.

00:32:48
Speaker 2: Head runs poor pay dirt courtesy of the Texans Radio Network. That's your play of the day, brought you by a Liberty Mutual. Why pay full price when you can customize and save. Switch to Liberty Mutual and they will customize your auto and home insurance so you only pay for what you need. Is Aaron Rodgers under contract for next season? Paul, he is not. Oh, he is an unrestricted free agency. Okay.

00:33:17
Speaker 6: I think this year he made three and a half million as his base and a ten million dollars signing books. And I added that that's a thirteen point six mine.

00:33:27
Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you for doing the heavy list there. Thank you much, Lucas and Texas. Hey Lucas, congratulations on your Texans. Hey day, good morning. Yeah.

00:33:39
Speaker 3: I want to say that this win is sweet for two main reasons. The first off is, you know, you have your team go throughout the season. There's nothing quite like you know, you're not a harp cent. Sure your team is good or not, and yeah, the jury is still out on the offense. But man, that defense, I mean that feels like a Raven's two thousand kind of defense that maybe this team is good enough just to skatee ony in one half of the field and actually go pretty far. The second reason that this is such a sweet win is that I grew up with my dad right around the time that the Oilers and the City Houston were having their ugly divorce, and so, you know, I never got the experience Love You Blue, obviously, but if there was one thing that my dad gave me from the Love You Blue era, it was an intense hatred for the Steelers. You know, we just ranted the steel curtains so many times there weren't able to get passed to the super Bowl and to go into Pittsburgh and to have a defense just completely dominate him like THEIRS did to us for so many years. Man, that was sweet.

00:34:37
Speaker 2: So it was a great win. Suck at Pittsburgh, Chris and Syracuse, Hi, Chris.

00:34:43
Speaker 9: Hey, Thanks Dan, Yet a couple of things for you. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers last pass of his Hall of Fame career is going to be a pick six in the playoffs. But at down the road, nobody's going to remember that. And Dan, I know this won't happen. But if Mike Tomlins still wanted to coach, and if Pittsburgh word to move off of Mike Tomlin, that would put the Ravens and Steelers both looking for head coaches. Both teams would like a proven coach who ideally knows the AFC North and Dan you joked a path joked about it last week. I think from the coaches that are available right now, the best option for both teams would be straight out of the movie Lucky Number seleven, the Old Kansas City Shuffle. Tomon goes to the Ravens, Barbad goes to the Steelers.

00:35:27
Speaker 2: Thank you, Chris, that's a deep cut there. Yeah, you got the Browns need to coach. Ravens need a coach, Steelers may need a coach. And we thought the Bengals were well, they still may need a coach, but they decided that they weren't going to do anything. So the division is in a state of flux there. But this will come down to I believe if Mike Tomlin wants to coach again. It sounds like all indications are and Tony Dungee joined us and he was speaking with the front office and it felt like, of course, we'll bring Mike back if he wants to come back. I just don't know, like there's part of him that has to be realistic and look at this and say, can I achieve what I want to? Can we win? Can we be a postseason fource? I don't know. I think you have to be honest when you look at that. Even though the divisions in a state of flux. Can you be a force? Can you be a Super Bowl contender? Not just hey, I got a winning record and we got into the postseason and maybe a step away. I mean Andy Reid took the Eagles as far as he could take them, and he goes to Kansas City. Maybe a change of scenery with Mike maybe a couple of years, you know, a respite, go in, have a pit stop, do some TV, and then maybe you'll pick the ideal place, a place that has a quarterback or the opportunity to draft a quarterback. Yeah, PAULI could you see.

00:36:56
Speaker 6: The decision with Tomlin being in the next two or three days? And I asked that because I read an article in the Athletic and they said the reason for black Monday is you want to pull the band aid immediately after the season because the next few days our coaches meetings, they have exit interviews with players under contract, coaches, assistant coaches, and they make decisions about their futures off those. You don't want to have your head coach who's about to be fired. Do those interviews.

00:37:21
Speaker 2: But I don't know if Mike Tomman, Well, once again, I don't know the inner workings of the Steelers. If how long did you give him to give you an answer, because I would hope you would have an answer this week. I don't know if it impacts who you go after. I get if you do it right now, does that change? Are you going after Kevin Stefanski? You know you got John Harbaugh reportedly interviewing with the Falcons. Matt Ryan just got hired as the president of football operations there with the Falcons. And what was reported yesterday is Harball is probably looking at the Falcons and the Giants. Now I was told Giants all along. You know, I'm sure he's going to survey the situation. You know, make sure that he gets the most money. Hey, I might go to Atlanta, maybe the Giants up the ante there, and then Kevin Stefanski might take the job that John Harball doesn't take.

00:38:25
Speaker 6: Yeah, Paul, you mentioned Mike Tomlin as a media person many times on this show. Three days ago, a seat opened up on CBS Sports this weekend show.

00:38:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I brought that up that with Matt Ryan leaving, I could see where Mike Tomlin. Could you know, I joked Cower in Tomlin on the same set would be interesting. But talk to Bill Cower, is he who's he planning on sitting in that seat? Andrew in Washington? Hi Andrew, what's on your mind? Oh? Good morning, Dan Dennis.

00:38:58
Speaker 8: Thanks for taking my call.

00:39:00
Speaker 10: Yeah.

00:39:00
Speaker 8: I think it's time for us just to wait for Aaron Rodgers to go on to Pat mcavie show while he's in this dark room on ayahuasca and tell us what he's going to do, because I mean, you could tell he was all of forty two years old. The funny thing is is the Miko Ryans is only forty one years old. As a coach for the Houston Texans. He sacked Aaron Rodgers back in two thousand and eight in a game that's the least points Aaron Rodgers has ever scored in a playoff game for a team that he quarterback. Is the least passing yards by a Steeler in a playoff game since twenty eleven, and from what I see is it's the least amount of total yards one hundred and seventy five by a Steelers team in the playoffs. So I think all indications are that that pick six will be his last past, like christ and Syracuse said, and this time for him to move on and find his next venture, which you know, I don't know he'll be in media or not, but I'm pretty much done from hearing about him for a little while. It'll be good for a break.

00:39:53
Speaker 2: I could see him hosting a podcast. I could see him. He could he could be Joe Rogan or work with Joe Rogan. I don't know if I see him in sports. I got kind of seems beneath him. Maybe a little sports, but I don't know. I just I don't see him being enthusiastic to chop up a Carolina Panthers game or something. I just don't Steve in New Hampshire, Hey Steve.

00:40:28
Speaker 12: Hey Dan Dann's, how are you guys good? I get a quick stat of the day for you going to the MVT conversation and everybody was talking about strength of schedule. I don't remember where I got this stat. I wish I could credit the person. But in the last twenty five years, only five MVT winners have had a strength of schedule that was in the top ten hardest. And a little tidbit in twenty fifteen when Cam Newton won, he had the easiest schedule in the league.

00:40:56
Speaker 13: Who statata day scant outa day. This is the stat of the Day, stat.
