'Listen to Your Heart' Stars Open Up Before Premiere

I know it's a very weird time that we're still obviously in quarantine and Rachel and I are coming at you in our closets, which I like to call quarantine chic. But we have some news that will hopefully brighten everyone's day out there. Yeah, guys, you know we say we want to continue to give you this podcast. We want to bring you some normalcy, some life, and just some Becca and Rachel because we know you guys love it. But today we have some really exciting news and even more exciting guests to share with you. Guys today, you know on the official Bachelor Happy Hour pod, Well, it's that official Bachelor podcast. We're called Bachelor Happy Hour. We always bring you new and exciting things and today is no exception. And if you're like Becca and I, you've probably watched everything there is on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, wherever you're streaming things, unless you're like Becca and you haven't watched Tiger King, which is a whole nother discussion that we have to get into this week is happening it better, But so you're probably a desperate need of a really good show to watch. So you're welcome Bachelination. You're in luck because we got you, don't we Becca, we do. Let me give you a drum roll here rage So, Bachelor Nation, we are officially stays away from the premiere of our brand new Bachelor franchise show, Listen to your Heart. Now. We've seen Chris Harrison talk about it a little bit on some teasers here and there, but no one really quite knows what to expect. And before we tell you all about it and who our special guests are, we want to share some more about the show and what you guys can have to look forward to in this next week. And so I'm personally so excited for everyone to see this reach You and I talked last week while we were actually on Instagram Live about how, you know, Bachelor seems to bring people together and as we know Claire season of The Bachelor it's currently postponed, but at least we have one more show that can kind of bring people together and get us connected again talking about something in the Bachelor world. And so for those of you who don't know what listen to your heart is it's kind of like a mix between a dating show and a music competition. So think of Bachelor meets A Star is Born, which, of course it's a movie I hope most people have seen and loved and cried over. I mean, I watched A Star Is Born with my father, my future father in law, and I've never seen him cry, and he was sobbing so hard at the end of it that he walked into the women's bathroom, not realizing that it was the women's bathroom. And so it's going to be a highbread between those two shows. And I cannot wait because you know, as a typical Bachelor fashion, it has the clips and the glam and the mansions and the row ceremonies, but basically Chris invited oney single musicians from all over the country, much like the show, and they're all looking to find their musical counterpart, not only in love, but also in music as well. And so it's going to be very exciting to watch a new spin on the show that we have all grown up loving and watching, which is The Bachelor. And so I mean, you obviously know better than anyone what to expect because you were there for some of it, you saw some of it go down, And I cannot wait to get your take on this because I know you have some strong feelings about this show. I have strong feelings about everything that is true. But I love the segue that you gave me to talk about this because obviously I can't discuss my experience on the show. You're just going to have to watch it. But I think it's one of those things where you think you know, but you have no idea. It's you think, oh, is it like a star is born? Oh is it Bachelor versus American Idol? It's something like you've never seen before. And I think this is what Bachelor Nation really needs because you hear people say, oh, maybe they're a little tired of the same format, the same type of contestants that come on the show. Well, it's almost as if the franchise heard you and they're bringing you something different, not justin Batchler franchise, but something different period that's on TV. And you know you're getting it all in this show, which, without trying to give too much, you know you've got the love, the drama, the music, that the energy, it's just it's so good. But yes, Brian and I were on the show. We were on one of the episodes. Of course, I can't tell you exactly how, but I wasn't the only person from Batchel Nation that was on the show. They had Jojoe was there, Jordan, Ari and Lauren, Caitlin and Jason were also there. You've probably seen some of that on the previews if you've been lucky to catch that. And then also their celebrity judges. And I don't mean, like, you know, I don't want to attach a letter to someone like an A, A B or C list celebrity, but I have to because these are A list celebrity judges that they had come on this show. So you're getting a bit of everything. And in addition to the romance and the music, we know that it wouldn't be a bachelination show without a little bit of drama. So I can promise you you'll expect to see that. I even saw it all my little time on the show. Yes, definitely did. And the drama honestly starts with the first episode. It wasn't it good back? It was so good and it's it's it's kind of I don't want to sound cheesy here when I say this, but it's kind of magical because for so long, I mean, you watch Bachelor season and Bachelrette seasons, and now that we are removed from the show we went through, we've done it, it kind of lost a little bit of its luster because I know everything that goes down behind the scenes, and so I'm watching Listen to Your Heart with a fresh set of eyes and not having any idea what to expect, and so it's magical again. I mean, Garrett and I watched it the other night over dinner and some wine, and we were hooked right away. It's just it'll. I really think people just have to tune in to see it for themselves because it's just I mean, I watch it and I'm jealous because I'm a terrible singer. But there's just these new little pieces and elements to the show that just makes it really special and fun and intriguing. And I think one of my favorite parts about it is that, like I said a little bit ago, there's twenty single musicians from all over the country, and they all have different music styles. There's country singers, there's pop singers, there's some soul and folk. You really get such a wide variety, and so that was I think in this very first episode one of my favorite things to watch was you know, who's going to be in this genre, Who's going to belt it out like with this type of music? And so, I mean, I'm very jealous when I watched them because I cannot hold a key to save my life. But it's intriguing and Rachel, you and I know more than anyone how kind of crazy it is to put yourself out there and go on a show in the hopes to fall in love. And we lived through it, so we can feel for these people and you start to kind of see relationships form right away, like even the first night, and so I was kind of taking a walk down memory lane, remembering, you know, like the nerves that you have are the feelings that you have, and so I think that I'm sure that's something that you, as one of the guests on the show, Wines firsthand. Yeah, because it's not just about finding love, which is what we're typically used to. It's also about finding your partner in music and your partner or maybe even in a career after this, and so it's there's just so many levels to it, and I'm like you, I was totally jealous when I was watching the show. Wait no, Like first something you said was that it's new and we haven't seen anything like it. But I also love that we don't know these people, we don't know their stories, we didn't see them on another season. Well, actually there's one guy, but that's we can talk about that. I need to know who's there's one guy not Bachelor related, Okay, is one guy, but I think that's so it's refreshing, and it's just like a nice taken in light of everything that's going on. I'm so excited we're not just bach Nation, but you know, everybody to watch the show and really kind of get to see what we've already seen a bit. Um. I just I just couldn't imagine Stan. And I thought this too when I was when I was watching the show or I was on the episode. I couldn't imagine having to you know, you kiss in front of the cameras, you have to have these intimate conversations and go deep in front of the camera, but then you have to sing and play instruments and connect on in that way. I just I just can't explain anything like it. There was something oh oh oh, jealousy. You talked about being jealous. I made a list of the things that I'm jealous about with the show, because I think one a lot of people say, oh, this is the official bachel Nation podcast, so of course they're pumping up a show that's done by the Bachelor franchise. That's not the case here. We want to actually podcast about this show, and you will want to tune in every single week to hear about it because it's just that good. We aren't doing them a favor. Honestly, they're doing us a favor get giving us something new and good to watch. But watching this show, I am totally jealous of the mansion. Okay, they do live in a mansion, it is not the same mansion that we live in. I've spoken about this before. I'm not a fan of Bacher the Bachelor mansion. This is a new mansion. It's beautiful, it looks really clean. It's studying. Yeah, and the views look really good, like the aesthetics are very beautiful. They have are able to bring the date because I don't want to give too much away, but dates to the actual mansion, you see that happen. There are less people, which is always a beautiful thing. And it's a unisex household, so you know, you don't have the energy of all these women or all these men. It's just it's it's evenly balanced the most part. As you said, it's less people, you know, because when you start, when you show up usually to the Bachelor batchihor it season this night one, you have like thirty about thirty contestants plus the Bachelor. This is like less than that. But then the mansion is twice the size, it seems like of the actual mansion. I'm like, damn, we could have some fun in this place. I know, I know. All I kept thinking too was and I've said this before, so I'm really interested in your take on this. I love music and I love to sing. I probably annoy Brian. I sing all the time. I couldn't be on this show. I've never but I sing, but I sing all the time. I just I love music. Yeah, I love Broadway, all of it. So anyways, when I was watching this show, I always thought, and I've thought this before, I could never date a musician because I'm just so into music that the man could do no wrong. He would just sing something to me and I'd be like it's okay, honey, um, oh, can you do this for me? And I'd say no, I don't feel like it, and then he starts thinking and be like whatever, whatever, whatever you want, whatever you like every I just could never date a musician. Have you ever dated one before? Ah? Well, I don't know if this counts, but in eighth and ninth grade of high school, I dated a musician and he performed in the Battle of the Bands. So if Alan Kelly is out there listening, which I'm sure he is not, that's the only musician I've ever dated. Though, you know what, I agree, I don't think I could, only because I like you, Rachel. I love music. I'm not a good singer. I will do it all the time and just annoy the crap out of Garrett. But I'm not good. But I one of my favorite things to do ever is go to concerts and so, like even before pre quarantine days, like if we were bored with Garrett or my friends, I'd be like, oh, it's a random Tuesday, let's see what concerts are in the area. So we would just like get last minute tickets and go and just seeing like the lifestyle. And trust me, I know what it's like very minimally to live on a tour bus. I don't think I could do it. I think it'd be too hard, especially when, like you know, girls live on a bus. I did, but only for like a month. I can't imagine like crossing the country for months atted time, performing each and every night and like giving it you're all. But here's the thing, Like after all the concerts I've gone to and seeing people throw themselves at the lead singer, it doesn't even matter who the lead singer is, Like people get into that concert vibe and they just like love whoever is on stage and throw themselves at them. I don't think I could do it. I would get I would get too jealous if I was at home, like seeing what was going down. I just I wouldn't like it. I um, my girlfriends and I used to always be like, m he could sing the panties off me. That's how that's Have you ever been to a concert. Have you been that girl to throw your bronze stage? No? But I have been that girl who was chosen from the stage to go up there wait for the after parties. Yeah. I actually heard a story, so I was gonna ask. I was gonna ask if you've ever had a grouping moment, But what are you about to say? Well, no, well, I was gonna say, I'm not gonna name any names because I don't want to give them away. But some one of the girls that I was on the tour with, I asked her, like, how she got started in the tour life, because she was all over with concerts and with Broadway shows, and she said that she got started because when she was fifteen, she snuck out of her house, drove like two hours, I think, to go to some concert and I don't remember who it was, and the drummer was obviously banging on the drums. The drumsticks flew out of his hand broke hit her in the forehead, and she's like, I probably should have went to the hospital and gotten stitches, but she didn't, so instead she got to make up for it. The guys like, oh, you want to come back stage with us and hang out after, and she's like, so I did, and it was fine, but not realizing like I probably should have had stitches after that, but she was fifteen. I'm like, that is quite the story. But stitches, there's so many illegal things that just happened right there. And that story that you told No, I know that I've been naming me. I want to know after No, but I don't think. Oh well, Garrett and I did. Actually it was right after we uh ended filming or airing our show, when we were finally in public. We were at a concert, um and I don't remember. It was some country concert and we they asked us to go backstage, and Garrett I should. Garrett was so drunk by this point that he just started helping himself to like the band's mini bar, and like I looked over and he's just like plauring a handle of vodka into red solo cup, and I'm like, I got to get this boy out of here. But yeah, no, nothing like too scandalous. I would say concerts with Rachel I have fun in my twenties. That's all I'm gonna say. That's all love. Um. One thing that kept coming up in this first episode that we watched was, and I was very surprised by a lot of the musicians said, I've never dated another musician. And I've always said that about a lawyer. I always said, oh, I would never want to date another lawyer. It just would be so boring. I feel like we'd be arguing against each other, I would be competing. It just doesn't sound like fun. But I would think as a musician, that would be such a beautiful thing to be able to make not just love, but music together. So I was surprised to hear their take on it, and I actually understood it. What do you think about that? It's interesting because I feel like, and this is just me projecting, I feel like, to be a musician, you obviously have to have some sort of drive in like the line light and that certain attention factor on you, And so I think it might be hard for musicians to sometimes share that. I mean, of course, like we see couples like Faith Hill and Tim McGraw who are killing it and performed together and singing together and all these amazing things. But I think for some it might be hard to share the stage and the mic in that limelight. Yeah, I mean, I guess I could see that or just I don't know, may and maybe they, Yeah, they compete like you're talking about, but I would just think, oh my gosh, this is so poetic, this is such a beautiful thing. But you know, I'm I'm also not a musician, So maybe if I was, that would make a whole lot. How fun would it be Sunday morning, You grab the guitar, you grab some more instruments, you just sing with the kids together. I think it would be cute. But you know, who knows. Maybe that could come from the show. And that's what you see on this show. People like they Normally, when you wake up in the Bachelor mansion, you're like, oh, the sun is up, I have to get up and do an interview. Unlike this show, you're waking up to people playing the piano and the guitar, and instead of birds yuck, which I hate singing outside, you hear these beautiful voices. I mean, it's just such a fun experience. I think when y'all do season two, because there should totally do be a season two, you incorporate not musicians into it, just just so they can share this dutiful of audierience, just because I was shop every morning and drink with the groupies. But see, but like see how Becca and I are so excited we can't stop talking about it. We actually have to move on because yes, you guys aren't just going to hear from us on the show. There's so much more to talk about, but yeah, there is a rage and I'm sorry everyone. We're done teasing you. You'll just have to tune in a couple of days to watch it. But we know that you guys have to wait until April thirteenth to see the premiere. So in the meantime, we've decided to do you a solid and let you meet two of our contestants before the show actually airs. And you know, Bachelor Happy Hot where we always have your back when it comes to delivering that inside scoop people, that's right. So today you get to meet two incredibly talented concessants from this season of Listen to Your Heart. You get to meet Trevor Holmes and Brief Stoss and I these are two of my personal favorites. I'm already picking favorites. Well, only one episode in and I'm already picking favorites. I have more, but these were definitely they definitely stood out to me for various reasons, and we'll talk about that later, but I know you guys are going to be excited to meet them too. So our first guest, let's just get right to it. Okay, our first guest, he is twenty nine years old. He's from Thousand Oaks, California, just miles away from Bachelor Mansion, and without further ado, he is Trevor Holmes. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome him and so Bachelor Happy Hour. Hi. What's up, guys? No, you're good. How are you doing? I'm doing fantastic. How are you guys doing good? We we've been talking about going a little stun crazy. I can imagine you are a bit as well, are you, guys? Both in your closets. I love that for you guys, I feel like, no, no, no, You've got a great set up here. We're just trying to get the best sound quality. It's like a podcasting technique. I felt like a musician for a second. I'm like, well, the sound quality we are in our own recording studios, Trevor, I love it. I'm impressed. I'm very impressed. How have you been doing during this time though? What have you been doing to stay busy, hopefully creating some music that we can listen to in the future. Yeah, I've been. I mean, I've been trying to at least keep some kind of schedule because I feel like if you just stop doing everything. That's when you start to lose your mind. So I'm trying to still, like move my body. I have stairs in here, I run up and down. I have a puppy that keeps me absolutely busy all the time, so she's been keeping me sane. But yeah, just trying to stay busy. I think, is the key key? Who else is there? Who else is there, Trevor? Is somebody else? There's no Actually, I actually had my mom. I had my mom babysit my puppy because she would have been chewing my leg this whole time for attention. Yeah, so I'm here. I'm here alone right now. Well, Rachel, just trying to dick. We're both dog people. What kind of dog do you have? I need to know. I have a golden Retriever. Okay, maybe one day, once quarantine is done, we can get all of our dogs together. I mean it has a thing for golden Retrievers. So was my little corgy. Trevor. We have so many questions that we want to get into and hear more from you. But this is the one thing I have been wanting to ask you. So Rache and I touched on how we watched that episode early we saw everything go down in that first first couple hours. But you mentioned that one day your dream is to live on a tour bus with your partner and kids. Now I need to ask, have you ever lived on a tour and a dog? Okay? Have you ever lived on a tour bus before? I haven't? Have you? Well, yes I did, actually, Rachel, so I was on obviously stopped now, but I was on The Bachelor Live on Stage tour. So we were living on a tour bus. There was six of us girls plus my fiance, and um, I don't know like how. I'm gonna warn you. It'll be fun for like the first month, but if you have kids and dogs and people ritten around, it's gonna get real old, real fast. Yeah, I look Okay, maybe maybe maybe living on a tour bus is too ambiguous, But I would like to at least experience touring. I'd like to be with my family because if I'm on the road, I don't want to be away from my family. Yeah. I get that. In an ideal world, if I can make that work, that would be an ideal for me. Yeah. I wrote this down too, but from a different perspective. But I was like, oh my Gosh, look at how humble and down to earth he is. I would have been like, oh, I can't wait to live on my private plane with my That's literally what I wrote down. I thought, geez, what a down to earth guy's he's focused on what matters family, the dog. I'm like, I need that, Butler. And you know what's funny is I'm actually like, I've been obsessed with these like people build these camper vans and they travel all over and and I've always been obsessed with like a minimalist kind of lifestyle. So I think maybe that's the other appeal of being on a tour bus. I don't know, maybe a tiny home one day. Yeah, maybe an ear stream who knows. Well, Okay, I'll tell you this. When the Bachelor I've on stage two picks back up you and maybe if you have a lucky partner along, then you'll come come hang out with my fiance and I get a feel for it, see how you like it, and then and then make a decision from there. Okay, I appreciate that. I appreciate you looking out by the way, Becca, we almost met one time. I don't know if you know this or not. Oh, when where so you Uh. I was on American Idol two seasons ago, and you and you were actually at the finale of my season and we were in the dressing room together, and I'm like, I was so starstruck. I was too scared to come say hi. You should have four feet apart from each other. We almost met one then, well, I will say because I remember that it was it was one of the first appearances that I had after we were done airing, so I think it was right around the time The Bachelor was premiering, and so I was so nervous. I remember going down in all of you guys were singing and getting ready, and I felt so out of place and awkward because you were also cute and you had your friendships formed, and I'm like, I felt so weird being there. But I wish you would have said high. Yeah, I was too scared, Like I had no problem going up to Nick Jonas and always a little bit you. I was like, no, I'm too scared, Candid a better way. Now, I like this, what a fun story. Okay, So now I have two questions for you from what you just said. One, you knew who Becca was, Yeah, so are you a fan of the Bachelor. Yeah, so I wouldn't lie and say that I'm a hardcore fan that I've seen every season. I've definitely seen the show, and Becca, I definitely saw parts of your season. I enjoyed the show, and now I'm now I'm a part of the Bachelor family. So yes, yea. Which is my second question. This experience, obviously it's brought, it's produced by the Bachelor franchise. You have the unique experience of having been on American Idol, which I don't think any of the other contestants had that same experience, right, right, So we've been kind of describing this as a Bachelor meets American Idol. Yeah, your American Idol experience? Was it anything like this listen to your heart experience? Um, I would say yes in some ways and no in many other ways. Yeah, yeah, yeah, How is it different? Well, I don't think that. You know, going into it, I kind of knew what to expect. I knew that it was a part of the Bachelor franchise. I knew that they were trying to tackle um uh, you know, like basically a Bachelor for the musicians for musicians. Um So I knew what I was getting involved with However, I don't think there was anything that could have prepared me for my experience. Um, I don't know if you guys feel the same way about when you had your experience a true person from the franchise. Yes, m that being said, I wouldn't take back a single second of it. It's it's an experience that I absolutely will never forget. Well, we can't wait to watch more of you, Trevor, because I feel like I'm gonna go on a limb. I'm gonna say, America is gonna love you, the girls are gonna love you, and I need to ask you going back to America and idle really really quick so we see him a quick clip. Katy Perry actually called you hot when you auditioned. How did you feel when Katy Perry called Trevor hot? Well, you know what's funny, is she like so growing up before that? If you had asked me, I would have told you, Like if you said, oh, who's your celebrity crush, I would have say Katy Perry, like all my friends knew that she was like my celebrity crush or whatever. You never think you're gonna meet that person and you definitely don't think they're going to call you up, so it's nothing that you can forever. I was very humbled by I was very appreciative of it. But yeah, going in the audition room, like people asked me afterwards, oh was that planned? Did you know that was going to happen? I had absolutely no idea, no flu at all. And even I don't know if you saw my clip, I actually threw her name in the song. I was never planning on doing that. It was just I felt out the moment, like on the during the performance and anyways, yeah, it was. It was a wild experience and it definitely helped me with like exposure on my clip point viral um. But yeah, it was a crazy experience. Yeah, oh come on, Trevor. When she said you were high, you know you were? I got the golden ticket. Yeah, and Katie Ferry thanks, I'm hot all the clip. I literally in the moment, I was like, this isn't real, Like that's why I was going to pinch myself from like because you know, I grew up watching American Idol and I'm in front of these judges and it was it was wild. Well, well, good thing it was captured on tape for everyone to rewatch over and over. Yeah, it will never be left down for sure. So since you're a fan of the franchise and the way this show starts off, you know, you pull up in the car, Chris Harrison standing out there. Very handsome guy by the way. Yeah, yeah, see shout out to Chris Harrison. Yes he's very Yeah. Um, wasn't intimidating for you that first night? Oh? Yeah, it was fine. Yeah. I thought. I thought, I'm like, all right, I'm gonna I'm gonna breathe in my nose, read out my mouth. I'm gonna be fine. I'm gonna be relaxed. Not at all. In fact, I don't know if they're going to show this. But when I got out of the car and say I had to Chris, I got out literally facing the wrong way. I'm like yes, yeah, I'm like, oh god. And I turned around. I'm like, oh, he's over there, Okay. I walk up to him, and you know, obviously I've seen the show and so to be there like you've seen it on TV so many times, and then to actually be there and be in front of Chris or like this is very surreal. Um, that was wild, and I was so nervous. I don't even remember what I said. Luckily it was filmed, so I'll be able to watch it back, but I have no idea what I said. So, Trevor, do you get more nervous? Were you more nervous in that moment stepping out of the car, walking up to Chris or when you get on stage and perform in front of people. Um, it's I would say, in their own respects, they were equally both very nervous. Um, I think that. But but both of the situations, like once you're in it and you're going in, the adrenaline kicks in, then you're good, but like right up to that moment, both are terrifying. Yeah, I think it's a pretty common theme when people sit out of the car, though Limo was at first time. I think probably it's taped to say, like ninety percent of us blackout. Yeah, for sure, I'm stuttered, I said, I'm a public speaker. I was stuttering first. It's just it's just no, it takes your breath away, it is. It is really a magical moment. There's just nothing like it. You can't explain it until you go through it. So I'm gonna ask the question that I'm sure all the ladies want to know you're you're attractive. Katie Perry even says, so you can sing, you can play an instrument. I like, what makes you come on this show? Because I would think that you would have no trouble finding love? You know. It's sorry, my mom's actually calling her right now, UM, speaker for real, you really want me to? Why not? Can your mom sing? Hey? Oh wait, the college rops? Sorry time, No, mom, My mom cannot sing at all. Exact when she sings Happy Birthday, she lip sinks because she's that terrible at that bad. She's like me, I feel her. Yeah yeah, um, but I'm sorry. What was the question? Why did you decide to come on the show? That's okay? Why did you decide to come on the show? You know? I, UM, my ultimate goal, as far as uh as life goes, is I want to I want to fall in love with my best friend. UM, I want to find love like anybody else, I'm always I'm always open to finding that and UM, I've I've dated the past couple of years and I just I never quite found that thing. It just didn't click for me. Um, and I Uh. In the past, people have been like, hey, man, you should go on The Bachelor, and I thought of that. I thought it could be cool. One of my biggest fears was, like, I was afraid if I went on, people would be like, oh, he's trying to promote his music career, and so I said, I was like, yeah, I don't think that's for me. So then when this opportunity came along to be able to do both, it just seemed like like a no brainer for me. Wow, I decided not to come on the show because I didn't want people to think I was promoting my music career. You're aware bird in the Bachelor franchise that this was a storyline last season. Yeah, I'm sure it'll be one in the future as well. People could take note of this well. Trevor obviously, like music is a huge component, but also love and hopefully finding a partnership as part of the show. You know, that's that's one of the goals as well. So what are you looking for? And don't give anything away. I don't know if you found it or not, but what are you looking for in a partner? I mean essentially kind kind of like kind of what I said before, I think, you know, I'm in my late twenties now, Before I had this idea of exactly what kind of partner I wanted, I feel like I knew what type I wanted. I knew what exactly what I wanted or to be like look like those things that kind of started to go off the window as I've gotten older. I truly just want to, like I said, fall in love with my best friend, and whatever that looks like is what I want. And so I think I don't know if you guys have started to experienced this, but as I've grown as a person, I think I appreciate different things in a person. So I don't know if I don't know if that made sense, but that's kind of my best answer. Well, that's the beautiful part of this show and what the Bachelor and Bachelor I provides is because you're meeting twenty plus people from across the country who you normally would never meet under any other circumstance, and they're from different backgrounds and different lifestyles and different ways that they were raised, and so it really brings such a unique group together that I think it's it's and until you're on it you don't experience and said, I think people see and play out on TV and they're like, oh, that's Trevor from California and that's Becca from Minnesota. But until you're actually interacting with people and forming those friendships and the bonds and those relationships, it's something really special that I think the show does so well at So overall, after meeting everyone and going through you know, we don't know how long you were there for or whatnot, but overall, how was the experience for you? Yeah, I will say one of the ways that the experience was different than I expected was I anticipated coming on that because because I knew that there may be competition elements on the show, I assumed everyone was going to be kind of standoffish and selfish and kind of I don't know, not welcoming, And honestly, it was the complete opposite. I think that because we all had that common ground of music, we all had kind of like a mutual respect for each other. So right when I showed up to the house, I was like, you know what, this is kind of like my tribe of people. Like I felt like I clicked with so many guys and girls just right away, right off the bat. So that was pleasantly surprising was that everyone was super cool and super nice. Now that that is usually how it is the first night, because you all genuinely share this excitement and it's a new experience and you're all in this together. Yeah, So did that change, Trevor? Does that change in the season? Uh? Well, one, you're going to have to tune in to find out. But he's good. No. Look, obviously, as you guys know, there's going to be stressful situations and there's going to be friction no matter what you what you do. So, um, you know, the dynamic definitely changed from the first night. But I will say that there are absolutely friends I made on the show that will be lifelong. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, do you think because this is this is we're so excited about this because it's something one we've never seen it before, but like we're just enamored by the concept of the show. Having been on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, both Becca and I we know it from that way. But you know, we were talking about this before we talk to you, just about the experience of you know, you're trying to find love with a partner, but then you're also trying to connect with your music and just and everything else that way. Did you ever feel that whatever drama was going on in the house sometimes translated into on stage or into the music that you guys were trying to do together. I would say absolutely yes, because I can speak for myself as a musician that my surroundings and my emotions directly affect my art and my work, which I think is true for any creative So I would absolutely say ye. In the short answer, yes, it definitely affects how we all interact with each other, but in a good and bad way, like it can be great. I think the passion Oh yeah, I mean some of the best songs in history have been written from heartbreak or you know, so, so any any type of extreme emotion can provoke fantastic music. I will say that for sure. So speaking of extreme emotion, we talked about going stir crazy during this quarantine and how you've been. One of your outlets and ways to stay busy is song writing. So of course we have to ask you, can you give us a little musical sampling, Trevor. You know I thought that you guys would never Okay, I have a personal request. Can you play Gravity that I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I know, would no we say the first episode, He's like, right now, I had to. I'm sorry, Trevor, I had to. I won't. It's been a while since I played it, so please be kind to me. But let's see, it's not a silly it's not the cone be follow the storm. It is the deepened Dia. It's lovely Wei word. You know, okay, so no hold you lock along so I can feel it and uh huh, the old body's gone save we pulled too many false and we go and you can see it and we go and you know that would do by slow dancing, man up. That's audience I've had in a long time. That that is one of my favorite John Mayer songs. I will say, I want to know. I always try to get as I said Garrett cannouncing, I always trying to make him hit the falsetto. Can you get out there working? I'm still working on my falsetto. It takes a long time to develop that part of your voice. Like yeah said, he can't even remember lyrics, and you're trying to get him to cheat the false stim to see what's in there. Let me tell you, said the Trevor. If you're single after all this, they better snatch you up for the Bachelor. Let me tell you and you better say yes, you know what. You know. What's funny is I actually I grew up in the same city as Peter The Bachelor. I don't know if you guys knew that. And we actually we went to high school right next to each other. Were the same age, Like really, yeah, okay, Bachelor producers, you have your storyline right there. He has two connections Becca and Peter my goodness, and Katie Perry thinks he's hot, so he's a shoeing guys. Well, I do one question. You know how, the premise in American Idol, at least in the beginning the first shows, is that there are always people who can't sing and are just a joke. Did you think that that was going to happen when you walked into the mansion. There was going to be some person who was just there for the wrong reasons. You know, he was in a costume. But yeah, so go ahead, And yeah, so I remember, before I met anyone, I remember thinking to myself, Okay, I wonder, I wonder how much priority they're going to put on people's talent versus their looks or personality. And I was pleasantly surprised. Every single person there was ridiculously talented. Yeah, the bar is very high. I will get definitely, And I will say, even just from watching that first episode, Grant and no one's giving all performances, but you do catch people sampling their different singing or playing instruments you do catch that from a variety of them that first night, which, um, I think it gives us like a good little taste tester of what's to come. Yeah, and naturally, as musicians, we're all like in the hallways, we're singing, in the bathroom, we're singing. So literally the first night, I almost had a chance to almost hear everyone sing um and yeah. Like I said, the talent was just off the charts, super intimidating to be, Oh my gosh, I would have just started playing like a tambourine. I would have been so intimided. I would have just been like acting like because I know, even in the first episode, you don't hear Rudy sing until the end, and when she sings, I was like, I'm sorry, we couldn't have gotten this in the beginning. You know, at first I thought, oh, maybe she's the one. Now when I heard her sing, that's the moment I quit that, I quit sing, I quit music. She's I want to know what, because we all know that you guys can sing. How many people out of the twenty that were there night, one could play instruments or one at least one is um in conversation talking to everyone. I'm pretty sure ninety eight percent of the people they're also play an instrument. Oh lord, so you guys are all good looking and talented men, multifaceted Rachel. We were not taking a chance. What I'm promoting. I'm promoting groupies for season two, just like in there, like you don't know who's a musician, who's a groupie? I love it. Oh did you guys have to play like back in third grade? Did you have to play the recorder? Oh? Yeah, Oh yeah no, isn't it such a weird stipulation. I'll bring my recorder, I'll be the group. We all have the recorder in the harmonica for everyone. Really that weird. I'd like to play piano in the flute. Yes, you must have been in the same school system that I was. I was in Minnesota. Let me tell you. They needed something for us to do in the winter time. So I don't know why they picked recorder though, any instrument for kids. Probably because it's the Midwest thing, I guess. I don't know. You're you're in California. I don't know. Because it's super cheap to make those plastic little recorders. Yeah, seriously, Oh god, can you imagine our poor teachers having to listen to that. Oh oh my god, they picked the wrong one. They got paid, they got paid. Yeah, not enough. Speaking of playing, not instruments, but Trevor, we like to always play a game. I agree when Garrett, I've only been there once and when we flew in the second the second we were flying over Nashville is like, this kind of feels like home. So we if we had not moved to California because Trevor, we're just south of you and Carl's Bad now, we probably would have maybe considered Nashville. So it's a good area. I love Carl's Bad very jealous, by the way. We'll come down to visit anytime. We'll get the dogs together when quarantine's up for sure. Absolutely all right. It's if I had some money or music, you would have said music, yes, correct, Okay, Trevor, do you for do you prefer to perform on stage in front of a larger crowd or do you like the smaller, more intimate, close connected settings. Both have their their thing about it. I mean there's nothing The biggest crowd I've played in front of was ten thousand, and there's nothing like that. It's yeah, like electric, But but then there's also something to be said about playing in a small, intimate room where you can actually like see people's eyes and see their reaction to your music. So both both have their place and time to make them special. Yeah. Have you ever had a girl throw their bronze stage at you? I yes, I have actually, and ironically enough, it wasn't on a stage. I used to bust on the Venice Beach boardwalk and had this girl walking by just throw her bra right at me, all right, right there on the boardwalk. Were you intrigued by that or were you like we're on the Venice Beach boardwalk right now. I was baffled. I was. I wasn't. I wasn't expecting a bra to the dome on the boardwalk there, But yeah, it happened. So yeah, we called our quarantine chic area right now because it's the most quiet. But no, Bree, we just um talked a little bit about you. We know that you are currently living in Provo, Utah. Are you with your family right now or you just like what's your status. Don't give away if you're single or taken. But other than that, yeah, um, I am currently living with my family. Okay, well, that's nice that you guys at least can all be together during this time. Yeah, we're really lucky. My parents even you know, they came to um emriginally from Marino, Nevada, and so my parents live there still. But I live in Utah with my siblings. But my parents came and visited and then everything kind of got shut down, so they're stuck with us. Well, listen, you're gonna have to talk to my fiancee, Garrett at some point because he for the past decade was living in Nevada and is pushing hard for us to move there eventually. He loves Reno, so he'll have to chat with you later about all things Reno Nevada. Oh my gosh, yes, I would love that awesome small world. So we Rachel and I mentioned that we watched the first episode of Listen to Your Heart. We can't wait to get your experience and your initial thoughts on, you know, especially the first episode when everyone is introduced. But overall, without giving too much way, what was your experience like on the show? Was it worthwhile, like going in, what did you expect and what did you learn from it? So going into the show, I really had no expectations, especially with it being a brand new show. I didn't know what to expect. But yeah, overall I had a very very positive, amazing experience, and I loved everything about it, even the you know, even the ups in the down. I left it all before going on to listen to your Heart? Were you a bachelor bachelorette fan? I wasn't a bachelor or a bachelorette fan. I was kind of glad because I didn't know. Again, I didn't know what to expect, so it helps, you know, kind of going in blind but and just experiencing it firsthand. Yeah, I mean, I think that that's the best way when you don't know, so you don't have any expectations, so honestly, everything can only go up from there. You're just so open to what the experience is. But I am curious to know why you decided to go on the show. So I decided to go on the show because it sounded like a perfect fit. I'm a musician and in a perfect world, I always said that you know, whoever I end up with would also be a musician because you just understand each other. And the creative mind is very different than the intellectual mind, you know what I mean, They're just different. As though, it just sounded really really great to get it all. Have you dated musicians before? I have, Yes, I've dated I've dated musicians in the past, and you know, they've gone good and bad and obviously haven't worked out long term well. And so this is something Rachel and I were talking about, because I mean, neither one of us are musicians. I have said multiple times now that I cannot sing worth my life. I'm terrible. But we were saying it could be fun to day to musician if you are one, because you have that creativity, you have that special bond where you guys can create music and write together and perform together. I also said, like it could, I'm sure at some points be super tough because if you know, if you're used to running the show or you like that certain attention, it could. I don't know if I think for me, I would maybe butt HUDs with somebody. I think if we were in that same career path I'm sure you experienced at all. Definitely. Yeah, it's interesting because you know, they say don't go into business with your spouse or your family or whatever, and so there is a lot of truth to that because there can be a lot of um you know, I mean, mixing business with love can be challenging. But um, you know, I think with music because it is another language and you can feel things that you can't feel normally outside of it, it's kind of the one thing that I would be willing to do with a partner long term because it can bond you in ways that other things can't, If that makes sense. No, definitely for sure. And you have sorry, no, well you have mentioned in your like so you do. You haven't seen the bat batchler right, maybe you will, laughter, But a lot of the way that we've seen the first episode, so it's formatted similar but not the same. And one of the things that's similar is that they do the packages, so we get to kind of meet who you are before you walk into the mansion. And you had mentioned that you had been in an engagement before the show, and I think you had broken it off a year and a half before you came on. Can you tell us a little bit about that and did that kind of impact you and kind of I guess turn your hand as to make you want to go on the show. Yeah, being engaged was everything to me, you know, and when you get engaged, your entire your perspective of your future, you know, changes and it becomes that one person. And so when it did, and I kind of lost a sense of what my future looked like. And you kind of feel like you've lost everything, and so there's nothing else to lose. So the show came on a very perfect time for me because I was just willing and ready to to just give it all. Now, the person you were engaged too, was he by chance a musician? He was definitely not a musician. I feel like that's why you're like, you know what, we have to kind of come from the same Like, what is it right brain or left brain? Is right? The creative side? I think it's right. I think I think it's right too. I think correct, Yes, okay, yes, yeah, I totally get what you mean. It's just like, give meshes better, you understand each other better. I'm curious though, because since we have seen the first episode, I don't remember you singing. So what's your music style or musical style? First of all, I'm very jealous. You've seen the first episode, experienced it, you were there, but you still have no idea. Um, but my musical style is kind of a little bit of everything I'd say, naturally, I'm my voice is a little more country, but like I love the R and B hip hop vibe. Um, and then definitely mainstream pop as well. Okay, who are some artists that you look up to or that you like to emulate when you perform. I love Ellie Golden. I think that her voice is very unique and everything she does with it is just very outside of the box. Um. I think the person that I've been told I saw them most like is Taylor Swift. And then creatively, um, Sarah Barellis. I love that's That's a good one. That's a good one. She's all amazing. Brie. I think we just have to ask you if you'll give us a little sampling, because now I want to hear. I want to hear if you do actually sound like Taylor Swift. Oh, okay, I think maybe I'll seeing a little part of um give Me Love by Ed Shearon. That was on one of the promos. Okay, that's okay, of course, please do okay, all right, you'll have to let me know. When we were watching the promo and it was one I think that they showed a while back when they first first announced Listen to Your Heart. I remember hearing that song in the background and I and I have been an ed Charon fan since god College, Like remember Lego House when it came out, like way back in the day, and so I remember hearing that song because it's it's not a new song, and I was like, how do I know that song? Where? What does that sound remind me of? And then when I was just rewatching the episode and they give a little teaser at the beginning, and I was like, Oh, that's Ed Charon, that's the song, And so I of course had to go and download that song and ten what like one twenty nine on it again? Everything new, but I love that was amazing, So thank you for sharing. I could I could honestly sit and listen to you sing all day. Yeah for real. Yeah, you've got one of those read the phone book voices, you know, like you can like you could sing, I mean sing the phone book voice. You could sing anything. I said, ring like as I'm starting life. Um no, but what can we expect from you in the season, because I feel like we didn't get a lot in the or the beginning of the first episode and then the end we see you make a bit of a connection there. So without giving too much away, what can we expect from you? We can expect that I really put myself out there, um and gave it my all and really tried my hardest to connect with someone, um, and I just go off of that initial spark and feeling and then I just you know, follow that and see where it leads. That's the best batchelor about Tourette franchise answer. I think it's just to go in all out knowing what to expect and no re Since you since you weren't a Bachelor Bachelotte fan before this, I mean it should hopefully come as no surprise that Bachelor Nation the fandom is huge. They are just just die hard fans for the entire franchise in the best possible way. And just speaking because you probably haven't seen too much of them quite yet, what message, if any, would you have for those Bachelor Nation fans out there. I would say my biggest message for the Bachelor Nation fan, whatever they are, I would say to just you know, be open to the message that listened to your heart is I think that the show did an incredible job with casting and portraying all of us musicians as different but you know similar in the way that we are all looking for love and that, yeah, if you put yourself out there, you really can find what you're looking for. It is possible. Was this experience what you expected it to be? This experience was everything more than what I was expecting. I had just a little, you know, vision of what it could be and what I was hoping for it to be. But it just went above and beyond every single part of that. So no regrets, no regrets at all. It was crazy. I love when people come out from the show and just they went in it wholeheartedly and have nothing but fond memories. I think sometimes what we've seen is people come out and they regret things and they wish they didn't go on and it didn't pan out as they had hoped. And so I think having you and the fact that this show is the first time this is ever happening, the first time that fans are seeing this, that we're all seeing it together, it's something special. And so I hope that's the take for all of the other musicians that were with you. I think there's twenty of you guys total that you all come out still hopeful and happy that you did it, because how cool is it that this is the first time ever that you are a part of this show. That's something really really exciting. Yeah, that was one of the biggest selling points was that it had never been done and so there's no expectation, you know, there's there's just no anything about it. And I love being one of the first to kind of like pave the way and you know, show that it can be really really great. Yeah, I'm telling you, Beck and I are such huge fans of the show. Of you. It's like if you're a fan of music, love, you know, maybe a little drama, excitement, something new. I just ambition, passion. It's all wrapped up in this show and there's nothing else like it, and it's it's just it's really one of a kind.
