We went to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in JAPAN! | Nontendo Podcast #72

Ohiozimosh. We've been waking up so early, waking up. Kim and I
have been waking up at ridiculous times because we fall asleep at like eight nine
o'clock and wake up at five am. Almost every day on this trip,
we've been waiting hours for like a restaurant to open so that we can go
and eat get A lot of the places around here open very late. Yeah,
well, there's a lot of places that do open at eight. But
yeah, like there was a coffee shop we wanted to go to today.
They had records and coffee and they open at eleven am, which is like
it's past coffee time. Very strange, but there's plenty of great stuff around
here. Anyway, this little area, so welcome in everybody to episode whatever
this is. We are finally filming in the CEO office here in the Murda
what do you call me? The hotel building, which was Nintendo's initial first
headquarters, which has been renovated into a nice little to warehouses. Talked about
the last episodes where we were filming from the library and from the founder's house.
Yes, yeah, and then somewhere in all of this there's a famous
architect that has designed a lot of these buildings in this hotel as well,
so there's a lot of history here. There's a lot of really cool things,
and we're finally filming in this room, which just kind of looks like
a room. I mean, it's not visually the most impressive thing. It's
more the idea of what happened in this room. This hotel is awesome.
Oh yeah, but get ready for the butt. I think they're just calling
this the CEO's office this we're in the warehouse, for sure. I think
that this is just the premium room in We don't think that this was where
the CEO did business. That's what I think he did business. But like
his office, I think that's a stretch. I don't know. I can
see it. I mean, you can see he did business very close to
here, is what I'm either way. We're in the hotel, we're in
a nice room. We're in the warehouse where the cards were swinging. There's
cards outside of the cards. You can see where this room was repurposed.
You can kind of tell by the architecture. It's a beautiful room. But
it's beautiful, and this hotel is awesome. Just the weirdness of like having
to give the keyback when we leave and get picked up when we come back.
Yeah, because we get the people who like work at the front.
We do. It's like a big gold key and they don't let you take
it outside of the hotel. Yeah. The whole experience has been really cool,
and staying here in Kyoto has been really cool. There are so many
little coffee shops. Is one right across the street. There's so much in
this little area that's so quiet. Yeah, I mean all of Japan is
quiet, but this area is dead silent. Next time I think what I
want to do is I want to stay here again or I don't know about
in this hotel because I kind of want to stay in this hotel. But
that's so nice. It's very nice, and the place, yeah, it's
very nice. But uh, there's just so much great like little shops around
here that we didn't get to like experience all of it. And it's just
it's just a beautiful area. Also, I liked uh cheetoq Cheeto Kiwazawa where
the where the vintage shops were. I don't know what it was called,
but yeah, aa Gaya but it's called like sheeto. Wait, where was
that did we go there? Yeah, the shops no in Tokyo. Oh
yeah, that place was also had coffee shops every four Yeah that. I
don't know how much anyone filmed of that because that was like vintage clothes shopping.
So I wasn't really filming too much for a little bit because there they
they all the vintage shops were vintage American clothes. Yes, so they had
like home depot. I saw that Kim could go on a wild tangent if
she was miked up right now. You could come over here if you want
her and talk into the microphone. I wish I could. There was one
story I wanted to filming, but it said no film because they're just like
three shirts I never thought i'd see in the wild. Yeah, she uh.
We went to a bunch. We saw one tucked away vintage store in
general with these clothes. There was a whole rack of old band shirts and
there was like Ramones and Pearl Jam and I don't know what else because Soundgarden.
They were all like several hundred dollars for these shirts. But there were
vinted shirts that like Kim can't find in America, and they're just all every
store had cool vintage shirts and beautiful. Yeah, they were really cool.
I got this shirt there. Actually this is not vintage. Yeah, it's
so cute. So it says there are two cats here. There's two cats,
very cute looking cats. And then it says, one day a cat
comes to our house, kitty, there are two cats here. I saw
her. I was like, oh my god, I need that. It's
actually a bit too big for me, but this is the only size they
had. I loved it so much. Tokyo Treat and Sokurico, we love
them so much. Right now where sat back in our homes. But Bob
they shipped they didn't really have to ship it too far. This time.
They sent the boxes straight to the hotel room where we were staying in Tokyo.
They did, so we got to open them there and enjoy our Japanese

should have got that. Wait, how about that? Even why was it

the making the sausage is the whole point of this. Yeah. Uh so,
I was gonna say something before Tokyo Tree I forgot. Did you want
to talk about Universal Studios? Yes, we have to talk about Universal Studios.
We went there yesterday, which is part of why we postponed this podcast
a little bit, so we had more stuff. Oh, that's what I
was gonna say. We've had no time, that's it. We we wanted
to film podcasts. I wanted to film videos for my channel, well,
like the narration talking part where I tell you what's happening in all the vlog
footage that I shot. No time. We've had no time to do any
of this because we've been so go, go go. It's also been tough.
And I said this to you guys last night audio listeners. I'm beating
my shirt right now. It has been so hot, like ninety degree days
that we get out there and we do like eight hours in Japan and then
we're wiped from the sun. We're both gone. Right now, let's back
up a little bit. In the car last night, you can welcome to
terms with why in the past you had such ano being out filming all day,
running around yeah and filming yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, So now
you were beat at the end of the day. What's changed, Well,
let me tell the whole story. So at first I assumed it's because we're
old now, because it's been four years and we just got older. But
we're still early thirties. It can't be that, I hope. Then I
was like, it just must be because I've got fat, because the reality
is, when I was in Japan last I was well, actually I wasn't
in that good of a shape. Actually I look really fat all my photos
from Japan last time. I don't have bodies small. I'm huge. I'm
more out of ship. But then I realized, no, it's just because
we were here at a really nice cool time. Last time, we were
just like in over shirts and just having a bowl. This every day I've
been drenched in sweat and sunburnt that the heat exhausts you. Yeah, I
drink water the whole time, I am. But it's still tiring anyway,
it is tired. Yesterday and Nintendo World, it was the hardest. Well,
we all got sunburnt yesterday were Kim's the most burn. It was messed
up. We we I woke up in Kyoto beautiful. Me and Hannah had
a little it was nice. Yeah, a little breakfast at a cafe with
the with the doors wide open, basically outside and it was like room temperature.
It was awesome. It was beautiful. Got on the train headed to
Osaka, got out at Universal immediately swelter. It was brutal, but I
think the clouds opened up and it was just when you when you were in
shade, it was fine. When you were in the sun, it was
like you were being Well, here's something else that we never get to experience
as YouTubers. Early in the morning. The sun early in the morning is
always cooler. By the time we wake up at midday, that's peak heat.
Yeah no, so we're not used to getting out there having it be
cool and then it gets really hot. I also saw a lot of people
walking around with umbrellas as like a way to keep shade over your head.
So I started doing that. I had an umbrella with me, so it
just started calling that over me. So we got to Universal. Well,
you got there a little later, Kim, e, I and Erica.
We all got there when it opened at nine am. You So, the
way it works is you get a ticket to the park and then also a
ticket to Universal Nintendo World. Yeah, and that is a time slot for
some reason. I think because it's so new and everyone's trying to get into
it, they're trying to limit how many people can get in at once.
And then we also got the Express pass that only really did the Mario Kart
Yes, and some other various rides around Universal, but we didn't really do
any of that. So our time slot was around one o'clock. And then
you guys the day before were planning the day and you were like, we
want to get there at like would you say nine? We want to go
on open and it takes about an hour to get there from where we are.
Yeah. So I saw that and I was like fuck that. Yeah,
kidnap in seven thirty and we were already waking up pretty early. Yeah.
No, I want to have like a call. I want to have
my breakfast. Well, you you're doing your whole coffee shop tours, so
you wanted to hit a coffee. I don't want to like shit later,
you know, I want to I want to put the things in my body
that are going to make it so that I can survive the rest of the
day. Retrospectively, you you were right to get there just for Nintender,
enjoy it, and then leave. But our thought process was we the four
of us, wanted to get there at nine so we could actually see the
pog hit a couple of rides early, have a good time. I have
no interest in at the rest of the universal all. I just wanted to
see the Nintendo stuff. So Kim and I had vest interest in two places
that because I've never gone to theme parks before. The only time I went
to a theme park was Disney last time we were here. This is my
second time ever in a theme park. We wanted to see Jurassic Park because
they do a whole Jurassic Park area, and I know it's taboo, but
I really wanted to see Harry Potter. I know, I grew up with
Harry Potter. I know, I know, but I just wanted to see
it because it's supposed to be really magical, like you're standing in the in
the Potheads world. So we wanted to get there early and maybe do a
couple of rides, do the Jurassic Park ride, do the Harry Potter ride.
But we got in at nine am and it was a massive line.
And then at like nine ten as we're in the park ten minutes after it
opened. The first ride when you walk in, like this big rollercoaster,
it said wait time hour and a half. Yeah, in ten minutes,
they were all an hour and a half, and then from there every ride
was an hour and a half. So reality was we walked around the park
for like three or four hours in the sweltering heat, able to ride a
single thing, waiting for Nintendo, and we were exhausted by the time we
went in. Yeah, it's exhausted. Theme parks are always exhausted, and
they're never not. Oh so many people. There's so many people. I
thought going most people I've seen this ault trip in the middle of the day
would be like better, Oh, the middle of the week would better for
like no kids, school kids. There were so many school kids. So
when we were leaving, you guys saw this. When we were leaving,
that's when school is letting out and all the kids in there and their god
were flooding in from the train, which is actually kind of cool that like
that is cool if you're growing up in Osaka, you get to just go
to Universal. Yeah, in like twenty minutes and just hang out. Well,
we left via the train. You got there via the train. The
train pulls into Universal, there's a Universal stop right next to the gates.
It was awesome. It's kind of crazy that. I mean, if you
live in Osaka, you can get to the gates of Universal on like one
train in ten minutes. Yeah, And I took the train from Kyoto and
that also there was like two transfers. But for the most part, it's
one train straight from this hotel, yeah to Osaka, and then you take
a couple of transfers. But that was easy. Yeah, you you You
were also right about that because we were like, we should take the train.
I think it's a gamble, like I didn't know if the yeah would
be easy to do or now, because the sometimes the transfer is a huge
pain in the ass. But in this case, it's literally the doors opened,
the next platform had the train we needed to transfer to. We just
walked across. We saw three trains and an hour and a half and we
were like, well, just uber. So we made someone uber from Kyoto
to Universals, which we did on the way back, which we did yeah.
Yeah, anyway, so also on the way back, we were just
driving and I was like, oh, there's no we drove past the office
of Nintendo if you want to switch to was feet away from us. I
didn't think about that. That's crazy. Yeah, it was in such a
weird spot. It didn't seem like anything special. It was so random because
like, yeah, the day had ended. We were just driving home from
Osaka in an uber and Bob goes, oh, that's Nintendo. I looked
up and it was just a Nintendo's building. Kind of cool because I really
it's right near the hotel that was staying at and I wanted to go see
it and hit it up, but we didn't have time. Yeah, accidentally
just anything. Heck, and saw it and that's really all you can do
is look at it anyway. You can't like go in or anything. Yeah.
So a lot of people take pictures in front of the sign that's outside.
Yeah, I didn't even see that. Yeah, I have a picture
in front of the one in Redmond, Seattle. It's the same. We
did so much cool shit already. Yeah, we're staying in the Nintendo hotel
at what about Nintendo World, So yeah, we haven't. Actually, you
guys were waiting around pretty much for a few hours and then we rolled up.
We rolled up at like eleven thirty twelve o'clock. So we walked around
a little bit. You guys walked around the lodges. I guess to see
the park. You'll really go on any rides because the lines were crazy.
Uh. We went through Harry Potter World. Me. I went through Harry
Potter World and Jurassic World a little bit, and then you guys got into
the Nintendo World. Yeah. So annoyingly, we had these tickets with a
time that said you could only get in at one twenty, but we were
so bored we went at one because we were like, we're just gonna go
see. I want to just go see what would happen. I was hoping
they'd let us in. They just scanned the ticket, didn't look at the
time, and said have fun. So I actually think we could have just
gone whenever. So when so you said you did that? So me and
Hannah ran over there to get in. Uh, And when I showed the
ticket, she went, oh really, yeah, okay, let us in.
All right, we might got a little lucky. Then we were like
very close to the time. You were like twenty minutes. So let's talk
about it. You you go in to the the entrance to head towards Nintendo
World. Before you go through this massive tunnel and actually get into the world,
there's a couple of things. One is a little venda that's selling the
I could probably just grab one. It's right here next to me. The
little bracelets that are ambos, and also you use them to tap against certain
things in the park and they let out a coin sound. And there's also
four little mini games that you can play. So the ones you actually wore,
yeah, yeah, so each of us got there's like six different ones,
and we each got a different one, which is we have a cool
photo with that somewhere. How planned that was? Well, it was accidental
until you were the last two when you realized that we could get I think,
I think you guys are saving Mario for me. Well yeah, I
mean I'm a Luigi guy in every game I play. So they didn't have
Mario baseball hats. I had to get a Luigi baseball hat. I'm sorry.
But side note, when you're wearing like Luigi. I don't why I
said, when you're wearing like something Mario, everyone in the park because Luigi
really Yeah, like all the people who worked there are like make a big
deal about it. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, No,
not like people walking around, I mean like the people who work there,
or like trying to make them. Yeah. Actually I was wearing a
Back to the Future shut and people the people working that kept going, Oh
that sounded racist, but that's how they say that's hey, that's probably the
only way they understand the name movie. Uh yeah. Anyway, So we
got Yoshi and Luigi and yeah, they were mibo's, like you said,
really cool. While you're waiting in lines for things, they have like hidden
blocks you can just like smack and like little games you can play. The
only thing that sucked is uh yeah, lines for everything were crazy. So
there's four games that you play with the amazing like little mini mini big mini
games. Yeah, there are mini games, but you have to wait on
our line. Yeah. Line is also like fifteen to twenty minutes. Sometimes
some of them were pretty long. So there's four main ones, and if
you do all four of those minigames, at the end there's like a big
game. Yeah, and you play that and you get like the special ending.
I think is that the key thing you're talking about or is that different
because if next to the Bowser's Castle, is that what you're talking about?
That thing? Okay, so I think what you're unless there's two. I
don't want to say that you're wrong. Next to Bowser's Castle to the left,
there was a Swomp that was one of the mini games. There was
a a Koopa that was another minigame, and then in between those two looked
like the end. Okay, so there's next to Bowser's Castle there's another ride
game thing, but you can't go in there until you get three keys.
Oh okay, that's probably so. Yeah, the three keys are hidden around
the park, and I think a couple of them might be tied to the
probably games. But there are some other things that don't have keys, like
where you played the there's four rotating roulette boxes. Yeah. I only did
that because I thought that was one of the games. No, I think
that's just a fun game you can play. You collect coins, yeah,
I think they get you do get coins. Yeah. Also when you hit
all the hidden blocks around the park get coins. Oh okay, I don't
know what the coins are for them. I think it's part of that minigame,
but they get stored on here and then I guess you can go back
and keep Oh yeah, I mean, like if you get all the keys
and then you go back, do you still have all the keys or does
it reset every day? I wonder. I don't know how that works.
I have no idea. But how much were those things? Because you got
to buy them at the park, they're like five thousand yen, so like
thirty five bucks. Oh that's not terrible. That's not it's not terrible.
Yeah, but I mean you get two at seventy and then we were there
for like an hour. Yeah. Yeah, so we got in. There
was a million people. We took pictures of everything. It was very beautiful,
there was it was very cool Nintendo. Can I talk about getting in
quickly? So when you if you buy these, you go towards the park
and then there's this big tunnel and that's kind of all you see first.
It's like a little bit you can see over the top at the back,
but there's this big warp pipe. You start going through that and there's all
these led lights above you, and then as you come out, you kind
of come out into Mario Mario's Castle or Peach's Castle. Okay, so there's
some paintings that Mario would jump through and do minigames in Mario sixty four some
video of that holographic. They're really cool. You see the painting from Maria
sixty four and then it switches to Bowser Junior and that. As you come
out of the castle, you step out into Nintendo World. And I don't
really have words to explain what it was like, because, unlike every other
area in the park, which was kind of themed as the properties, I
think the coolest one for kind of feeling like you're standing in the middle of
it was the Harry Potter one. It kind of does feel like you're standing
in what was it? What is that strip of stores in Harry Potter called
Hogsmead, I think, or where or it is a diagon out. I
think you're a diagon out. It's been a long time since I watched the
movies. Anyway, that kind of feels like being in Harry Potter, but
stepping out through that wark pipe you are in an enclosed, massive, surrounded
area that is twice the size out of anywhere else in the park Mario World,
where you have glumbos and coins and animatronic what are they called the prana
plants. Yeah, all you're completely surrounded, so it feels like you are
in the mushroom. Yes, and there's a lot of little things that are
moving in there. There's so many things, and it's a complete three sixty
of the whole park. It also goes down and there's like a second layer
underneath, which is also surrounded with more core things. We went on a
beautifully hot day, but a beautiful day where the sky was blue with clouds,
and it's hard to explain, but that that that being a backdrop to
the clouds looked like it looked like we were part of this stuff. It
was insane. It felt so real. It felt like we had stepped into
the movie or the video game. Hannah took a picture and she's like,
this is not look real. It doesn't. It doesn't. It's too grand.
It doesn't feel real. I've never seen anything that meticulously beautiful, insane.
I mean like he was almost in tears. Kim was losing her mind.
I'm not even like it's mostly Mario, and I'm not even like the
biggest Mario guy, but I was swept up in it, like I wanted
to buy Mario toys and Mario shirts like I was. I was a Mario
guy for the day. It was so cool. It was really awesome to
see. The problem with it as a theme park is that there are two
ruts. Yeah, well okay, let's talk about though. So the one
we didn't get to ride because it had an hour and a half away time
with the Yoshi's which is such a shame because Kim really wanted to do that.
It was essentially a monorail that went around the top of the park,
I believed, but it would have been really cool to see the park from
that viewpoint. Yes, I'm sure there's things up there that would have been
so cool, but what you gonna do. But we had a time slot
for the Mario Kart ride, which was great that we got the Express because
we saved a lot of time. You know what would have been was so
crazy about that too. So we had the Express, so we got to
like zip through and we passed everyone else waiting in the line to get to
this ride. You enter Bowser's Castle and from the outside, yes, it
looks like Bowser's Castle. Then you walk up these steps and then there's a
giant stone Bowser. It's like a ten minute walk to the ride, it
just keeps going and going. They do that so that the people who are
waiting ninety minutes, which is insane because I'm not even kidding, Like a
five to ten minute walk where we were getting fast tracked, we walked it
without stopping. That's how long the line was. So can you imagine waiting
is insane. But every section of this line was more and more of this
extremely detailed Bowser's Castle, Like every area was completely different with so much to
see. It was that though the line to get into the ride I think
was cooler than the actual ride, and the ride was actually pretty good.
Ride was pretty cool. I like, yeah, you want to talk about
the actual ride. Sure, yeah, So it's an ar ride. So
you are on a track. You're actually moving, but you have these little
glasses that show you like other cart racers, Yeah, and you shoot them,
you steer the cart a little bit. Well it just says like go
right and yeah right. Well it's the cars on a rail and I think,
no matter what happens, the car doesn't change. I think the game
knows when all the players are trying to turn, and it just it gives
you like a green light, like it gives you a green light, and
also you will see things as if you are turning, and it kind of
tricks your brain. But I don't think the cart actually changes at all,
so that that makes a lot of sense. You also shoot orange shells,
which is a new thing. You shot orange shells. Where are you sitting
in the front? Right? Front? Right? So Kim, what color
were No? No, no, I'm going by. I don't remember what
it was when I was actually shooting it on the screens when we were coming
in during the little orientation of how the game works, they were orange.
Oh so every player's shell was a different color. Oh, I didn't realize
it. Ye, so mine was green, but everyone else that was firing
behind me. And then Kim to my right, well, do you remember
what color your shell was? Pink? So I don't remember what color mine
were, but uh I would. That was just interesting to me because in
Mario Kart is green, yeah, which is like, you know, just
the regular there's red, which is honing, and there's blue, which goes
to the first player, so there is no orange. So in my mind,
orange was rapid fire. Oh, so I was like a machine gun
shell. So I thought that was cool. I do like that idea.
That is cool. But yeah, I think it's because each cart has four
people in it and you're spamming shells the whole time. I think they do
it so you can see what your shell is because you you aim the shells
by looking. You physically look, and then you fire. So if you
had green, if it was all green and green shelves were going that way,
you'd be like, oh, is that me? I'm looking for you?
So I think they collected them. I ever see anybody else's shelves.
I feel like I was the only one doing anything. Did you know you
can lose the game? Yeah at the end. I mean we saw Mario.
Mario wins this way, but there's like a way to you could lose.
But I don't know what losing looks like. I think you probably just
don't get a nice little victory sound to when you need to get more than
a hundred coins. Oh okay, I got a hundred twine, which we
all got. We all got different amounts. It's not collective. I don't
think I realized that it was a game that you have to play. I
was like, move the dang, we're gonna lose. Come on, you
both fingers shoot it and then she pulled her phone out of one. So
I actually because I wanted to record. I didn't know how I had my
phone in my lap. I just hit record and I was playing, and
then whenever there was a second where like it kind of slowed down, I
just went like this and film and then kept playing. So I have some
footage. But also it's an AR game, so a lot of it is
in the Yes, I was gonna say, there's some outside of the garden.
Yeah, so the ride still goes through Bowser's Castle, and then there's
a part where it opens up and there's all these clouds everywhere. There's the
whole thing is physical props too, and like it all looks cool, but
if you're not wearing the AR glasses, it just kind of looks like nothing
is happening and you're just kind of going through like a small world ride.
It felt exactly like the Roger Rabbit d Yeah, it did. It did
feel like the Roger Rabbit ride. It was almost if you didn't have the
glasses on, it would have been born, but still looked kind of cool.
To kind of explain even more what this is, if you've ever played
Mario home circuit, which I'm not sure a lot of people had. It's
actually that, but come to life, because home circuit works the same way
where you have your switch and then you're driving an actual physical Mario cut and
the camera will see your room, that's it. But on the switch,
it'll show you a pretty rejection of characters in your room. It's literally that
if the glasses were the switch and it was right in front of your eyes
and it I mean it wasn't like the most high resolution screen or anything,
but no good. It was fine. It did look pretty cool. At
first, it was a little off putting. It kind of felt like I
was playing virtual boy. But then I just kind of adjusted to it and
it felt really real. It was cool. It was cool, good little
experience. What is it like? Three minutes? My phone recording was four
minutes and thirty seconds. OK, so longer than I thought. It did
feel very short, though. We have to as a society, we have
to get over this, like we are not waiting ninety minutes for a three
minute experience. Nope, nobody should do that. Everybody should stop going to
these parks. I agree. I think it is insane to wait an hour
and a half in the heat for any ride. If you can do it,
power to you. I think of that as so crushing, Like I
just I can't stand now to lose my mom. We're talking about it as
if it was very exciting, because it was pretty cool. But we are
huge Mario fans. Yeah, I'm not waiting online for any of the other
bullshit. No. No, they even had a residual ride and he had
a fast pass for that ride, but I missed the time slot. That
sucks. Yeah, I would have liked to have done that, miss because
I had the fast pass and we paid for that. But I have noted
what that ride looks like. But we walked past it and there's a Leon
route and a Claire route, and youth were locked into the Leon route.
But I think it is so cool that they did two different routes for the
ride, just like in the games you play different characters. That is really
cool. I would have liked to have done that. But yeah, these
pox need to do something about that, like why, Yeah, there should
be a theme park that's like, hey, guys, we know those crazy
lines. We make two of every ride. I problem. I kind of
that would be cool. I have a theory that the ninety minutes is not
actually ninety minutes. It's probably more like an hour, maybe less, but
they say ninety to avoid more people piling in, because ninety the honey,
he puts people off. If you say ninety and it's actually two hours,
then yeah, we'll be paid. I think they say ninety and it's an
hour, you'll be like, oh my god, that was so quick.
I think that's why they do it. It also bummed us out a little
bit. But after the Mario arride, we've been in the park for like
five hours at that point, and every line for everything in the Nintendo World
Park, even the little mini games were minimum twenty minutes for a minigame,
and then the actual Yoshi I was an air and a half. So we
were like, let's go to the Toad Cafe because we wanted to eat at
the Toad Cafe. Kim and I went first. The guy's like how many
people? We said too, He said the waits ninety minutes and that point
the line nine zero, and I was like, I'm not waiting ninety minutes
for a burger at the Toad Cafe. So Kim and I actually texted the
group chat and we were like, we can't get into anything as cool as
this place is. We're getting sunburnt. Too many people were going to head
out because there was game stores in Oscca. We wanted to go to.
You want to go to Nintendo headquarters of Nintendo Oscca, not headquarters. Sorry.
So when you said that, we me and Hannah were entering the line
for total Yeah, we would. We were leaving the pocket that p So
you said it was ninety minutes, yeah, And then I got up to
the I was looked at my phone, looked up at the guy, and
then the guy was like, all right, come in, and he didn't
say how long The wait was, right, yeah, And then I was
like, Hannah, let's fucking go. I don't want to wait ninety minutes.
She's like are you sure? Like, yeah, we're already here.
What I was like, if you're saying that, that means we should probably
stay. So, uh yeah, that's probably what it was. So I
was like, all right, let's wear and I turned around and we were
like in the line. So I was like, yeah, we're locked in,
let's let's do it. What else are we going to do? And
uh. It was a similar experience where there was like shit going on on
the line. Yeah, but it wasn't as cool as that was this thing.
Uh, and then we the line was extremely quick. It's actually kind
of annoying it was. I timed it. It was thirty minutes, but
somewhere in that thirty minutes you order. So you order the fo you wait
on line or the food, and then wait online again to sit down,
and then by the time you sit down the foods there. Yeah, so
I'm ninety minutes from waiting online to getting the food. I'm really thirty minutes.
I'm really happy you got to do it, like, I'm happy that
And then eat and Erica went in after and they were even just as quick
and they got to eat too. I'm really happy you will get to eat.
But I was annoyed at myself for not waiting because Kim and I literally
sat down to eat at some bad burger place and as they brought us our
food, you messaged and you showed your food, and I was like,
we're eating at the same time, and I just have this bad burger from
a random place. I also part of the reason why I wanted to wear
on wine. It was air conditioned. Hello, we're back where and we're
not in Japan anymore. No. I also wasn't ready to go again.
Wait wait, it's got to be on your toes, bab bo. But
went for it. We're we're back. We're back to Arjor's journey home.
It was you had you had a beautiful flight back. No, that was
extremely relaxing. No, you want to talk about that already. That's the
end of the trip. We can get there. Okay. We left off
saying we were going to talk about Toad's cafe, and oh, yeah,
I want to. I still want to hear about the cafe that I didn't
get to go to. They call it Canopios. Is that his name?
Yeah? Why is that that's his name in Japan? Oh? Oh,
you know. I was actually thrown off by that with Animal Crossing too,
because when we went to uh Nintendo Osaka, they had those four figures of
the Zeldas Platoon, Mario and Animal Crossing and they all had normal names other
than the Animal Crossing one where Isabelle and Timmy and Tommy? Is that their
names? The wrong guy? Well, they had they it's not their names
regardless, because they had completely different Japanese names. Oh yeah, they every
Yeah, I think those names are like pretty English. I'm gonna all their
names. I'm gonna look up Timmy Isabelle Japanese name, so her name in
Japan is Jezue Jesus Chizu Chi Zui. I also know that in Animal Crossing
they have they speak gibberish, but in Japan it's a Japanese gibberish. They
have different voice lines, so the gibberish sounds more Japanese. And then Timmy
and Tommy is Mame Kichi and sup suebu Kichi, Main Kichi and super Keichi.
Who who do they have the statue of the Isabelle Isabelle and then and
then mam Mama Kichi and super Cuchi. I'm probably I remember it was an
extremely long name. When you put them all together, they are quite long.
But yeah, I was surprised by that. I didn't I didn't know
they had different And it makes sense because Timmy and Tommy is like so American
Western. But yeah, it's not like Lynch is named Steve. You know
what I mean, Like isn't work in any Yeah, you know, I
understand, all right, So tell me abouts coffee ben canopio. So uh
that was also. I mean that was a little hard to find because it's
called Canopio's Cafe. It's just this Canopio on it, and you're like,
what the hell is that? But it was the only place where there was
food in the in the whole area, so it's gotta be before we continue.
There was a result on the Timmy and Tommy thing, and it was
a reddit through I said, fun fact, Timmy and Tommy's names in Spanish
are Tendo and Nendo. Oh that's just dumb. It's like Nintendo and it's
like Nintendo Tendo and Nendo. Yeah is that that? I mean, those
aren't Spanish you would say why instead of and so it's an Oh, it's
an anagram for Nintendo. Okay, wow, sorry. You know Mario's name
in every language is so Tote's Cafe. We just got off of the Mario
Kart ride and we were like going around to like all the stupid little mini
games that you can play, but the lines are too long, and I
really I didn't realize that some of them weren't mini games that counted towards the
little watch thing that you have. Some of them were just stupid little minigames.
That about those two like that somewhat more fun than others, Like you
had like the matching we had to, like at the end of Mario three
level you have to like try and match a thing. You do that one
because I thought I had to do that one. And then there was like
a music blook one where they lights up and you have to try and hit
the music note. Oh good, oh fun. Lines were too long.
They were also unstaffed. They were just lines, like it was self navigated
by the I mean there's a guy at the front. Not but anytime we
did it, like when we did the music notes, it was completely unmade
band. Yeah, that it was kind of It was kind of annoying because
people would like the whole idea is to hit the music notes until the music
plays you and you would think you would do it once and then you would
leave because it was unmanned. Kids would like do like three or four turns,
and it would take so long each time because they're like, oh,
which one is it, and they're looking and you can barely see because it's
so bright. And then E, after waiting for so long, finally got
his turn, and as he was doing it, another kid cut the line.
And started hitting random blocks on his turn and messing up his song.
Yeah. I didn't even know there was a song you had to play.
I thought you just walked up and hit random notes and you're like, wow,
I hit the notes. I no idea there was a song until we
were waiting online for a different game and I saw the big song play and
I was like, yoa, you can like do a thing. I didn't
know that if you hit all the notes correct, it makes an actual song
play. And then I think there's some like action up top with like the
puranha plant and like a little goomboro something, but it's like a loud audio
like que it's a big song that plays, making you did a good job,
and it didn't play the whole time he was trying to do it,
and then this random kick came up just started hitting everything. That's annoying.
That was the only one that I don't I think I had nobody at it
for some reason. Uh. But the other two that I did add people
at it, and I kind of gave up because it was just it was
hot, it was a long day. I didn't need to wait on all
of those lines to do all of those things to unlock the Big Chemist still
sunburnt from that day. I'm not even kidding. I was peeling on my
forehead. Yeah. So anyway, we did the Marracart ride. I did
a couple of those little mini games and then I was like, oh wait,
I have to do three more forget that. And then we just waited
online for Toad's cafe and we were on the line, and we were pretty
deep into the line, like we got sucked into the line, and about
five minutes into the line, were like in the building pretty much, with
like a lot of people behind us, and you DMed and said that you
were leaving, and that line was ninety minutes, and I was like,
I was like, I want to I want to leave. I want to
leave this line. I don't want to sit here for freaking ninety minutes listening
to Toad yell at me and Japanese. And and then the the Hanah was
like, we're already here, Let's just what else are we gonna do?
We gotta eat, it's probably gonna take a while to eat again, might
as well patient. Also, it was air conditioned, so that was nice.
And then we got up to the guy who like, let's see in
and he didn't say he's the guy who told you that it was ninety minutes,
and he didn't say anything to us. He just said a going.
So I was like, all right, I guess we're in this for the
long haul. And then it went like really quick, like the line didn't
seem that long. There wasn't as much cool stuff on the line as there
was for the bowser for the Mario kart ride that was so cool. There
was a like toad on a screen making food and speaking Japanese, and then
there was a couple of other little things. But we only waited for like
fifteen minutes and then and then we ordered the food. There's like a little
counter you ordered the food, and then we waited on a second line that's
to seat you, and that was another fifteen ish minutes, and then they
sit you down. That's pretty smart, and you immediately get the food.
They sit you down, They're like, here's your table, boom, here's
the food. Enjoy. And then they called me because I had a Luigi
had on when I went to that line and he said ninety Kim even ask
they say ninety on nineteen and like, I'm thinking back and I'm like did
he say nineteen but like that's such a no, there's no way he said
nineteen minutes. That's so specific, like, yeah, nineteen minutes seconds?
Is you going to be your wait? They definitely tell you more so that
you feel better about it, but a whole hour more is ridiculous. I
think we already said this before we cut last time. But I do have
the theory that they say ninety minutes on rides when it's no matter what the
time is, because it discourages people from piling in and the lines getting too
long if they think it's an hour and a half and then you get in
the line and it's only like forty five minutes and you're like, oh,
that wasn't too bad. I mean Mario Kart was probably actually ninety minutes because
that line looked huge when we were we did the fast pass. Yo.
I think I said this too, But if you were to wait in that
whole line that they have made, that's like a three hour wait, Like
that is a so line. I watched actually Bill Bird did a bit about
it that was like ten minutes. He did the Mario Kart in really California.
Yeah, he waited for three ish hours. Oh my god, that's
five minutes and a half minutes. He was very very salty about it.
I mean, he didn't have to do it. Does you have kids,
I guess yes, yes, he's got he's got kids. He kind of
had to do it, but he hated he absolutely hated it. But anyway,
we got the food and the food was actually surprisingly really good. I
mean it was still like amusement park food, but it was the best amusement
park food that I've ever had, and I mean I haven't really had much
stuff at like the Disney parks, but like still it was. It was
good for what it was. There was a lot on the menu we had.
We got three whole meals and that was more than enough food, which
probably should have only gotten two. We got spaghetti and meatballs because I mean
he's Italian. We got a burger, a mushroom burger, and we got
one more. Oh it was terryaki like rice. It was. It was
a big thing of rice that was in the shape of a star and some
like chicken tarioki on the sea. Just a picture of it, joan me
to try and find it. You can play. I was just going to
send it to whoever's to Brandon or whatever. I was going to give him
a big screen. Now, I don't I think the menu in California is
different than the menu in Japan. I would imagine because the menu looked very
Japanese. I was talking to our manager and he showed me pictures he went
last week, apparently in California, and they the menu look different the stuff
he did. Paul, really, yeah, this stuff looked. That's where
he went on VA in Japan and he went to Universal. He was we
went to the parks at the same time in different parts of the world.
That's so funny. So uh yeah. He sent me his food and it
was a it looked different. I don't remember this stuff that. Yeah,
he got like a salad that I don't remember seeing. I'm goggling it now.
Yeah, there's like a just a giant burger. Was that on the
menu? Yeah, it looked a lot different. Though his burger looked Actually,
this one has must rooms on it. Oh they both have mushrooms on.
Well, they both mushrooms, right, I would ask for no mushrooms.
I don't like mushrooms on I don't like mushrooms, but I ate them.
And it was fine. It tasted fun. Can't do it, I'm
sorry, I mean it was it was good food. It wasn't like,
you know, the best thing I've ever eaten, but for amusement park food,
it hit the spot at that time. And we got three different meals
between the two of us, me and Hannah, and we ate pretty much
everything. And we also got two desserts. And I got a coffee because
I felt obligated to because of my whole little coffee tour. And that was
the worst coffee I've ever had the whole trip. Uh. I knew when
you said you were getting coffee it was going to be bad. So I've
got two pictures in here. We can send them to the editor. You
can bring them up if you want. That's I don't think they're working.
Oh yeah, the Nintendo's images are always a V I F files. I
don't know why the hell type of format is that. I don't know.
Uh, there's a Luigi chicken, but it worked. Yeah, whoa,
whoa, you got it? Which is like green peppers, which actually that
looks pretty fire. And then where is this is this? Uh California?
Okay? And then the next one I sent you it is like a kid's
menu, I think, and I just want you to to peep the side
dish. Yeah, yeah, it's just one uncooked corn. He said he
got this. He sent me this flag in it with a with what looks
like uncooked broccoli around the edge. Delicious. Yeah, ours was definitely better.
But I will say, so we got these little flags. I just
I don't know if you're supposed to take it, but I just took it.
Uh, they give you a freaking Mario figure that is not something we
had. Oh, they took that. Died straight up took the flag and
they thought you were going to say the Mario figure that's mine had a Mario
hat that was on it, a tiny Mario hat. But your figure is
so much cooler. Yeah, that's actually really cool. I also sent you
did they have this at you? Go on? There's a question of block.

that we did have. We did have the Terra Did you order that?
Yes? We we so for dessert, we got the Terra Masou, which
was this Okay, so it's pretty similar, and it was. I liked
it a lot. It was great. The best one though, was the
It was a little cake that was shaped like a flag pole and us ask,
oh, cake cake, Yeah, sorry, that would be I'd like
a slice. It was like like a flag pole with like a little little
Mario mountains. It was shape like platforms. It's hard to describe, but
I'm sure it's on the website and I have a picture of it that is
probably being shown right now. That was very, very good. The snacks,
the desserts were awesome. Yeah, thing catch up on the side here
though, I think that's your jam my guy. We can keep talking about
the cafe. I did want to pull up. I pulled up the longest
wait time for the Mario Kart ride possible, and they actually have stats on
like when it was the longest. So on February, in February of this
year, which is probably when it opened, there was a wait time of
four hours for that ride. Nope, no, thank you. How do
you see two hundred and forty minutes on the little sign out front and go,
yeah, I'm a wait in that. That's your whole day. I
mean, like some people are just that crazy about Mario, and listen,
I'm pretty crazy about Mario. I'm not that crazy. Nope, not.
I mean, I didn't even want one hundred percent the park. I was
like, good, it's really cool to see it. It's cool to be
there, and that was the main thing. Just being there and seeing it
was the coolest part, and I felt I felt that I had got my
money's worth just in that alone. Yeah, and there's a lot in the
park, and it's all tightly packed together, so you can just see everything
that's there in just a couple of minutes. But if you want to do
everything that's there, you're gonna be there for hours. Also, all the
minigames around the park, I would have loved to have done them. I've
already said why I didn't, But I can also look at them and be
like, I can imagine what that's like to do that. I don't got
to do that. I can see it. It's cool. I'm glad it's
here. The only one I would like to have done is the Yoshi Ride
and then whatever the secret keys give you an entrance to, because that's behind
a hole in the wall and you can't go in there unless you have the
keys. Yeah, the Yoshi ride would have been good because it gives you
a better view of the whole park. It's it's just like a slow moving
like tram. It's it's nothing that special. But we didn't have a fast
pass for that, and I wasn't waiting on a freaking ninety minute ride to
do a lot Tria to go again, or to any park again. I'm
just getting a fast pass because it's necessary. That the fast pass was was
kind of dumb the way that it was set up. We talked about it
already, but uh, yeah, we had a It gives you like four
rides that you can that you have a time slot for that you can go
through the fast pass. It's kind of stupid. I thought he just picked
full if I mean, maybe he picked it. I thought he got the
tickets, to be clear, because they were a huge pain in the s
to get He had to use some third party website because I think you're supposed
to be like a like a japan resident to get it from Universal themselves,
and you can't use a visa card. So yeah, maybe he did pick
the rides because the second ride was the Resident Evil ride that we didn't get
to do. But I don't think he was able to get it for Yoshi
at all, which would have been nice, but whatever, what are you
gonna do? It's I feel like I didn't miss out on much because we
saw the whole park anyway. We saw everything there really was to see.
So what was your favorite menu item that you ate at the cafe? Did
you see the pizza ball? Yeah, he got that. It's it's a
bread. Yeah, it's like a it looks like panera. It's like a
it's like a bread and you like cut into it and there's like a like
a pizza so huge inside it's like tomato souper cheese or something mushroom tomato sauce.
That sounds kind of gross, but it looks so cute. It was.
It was pretty cool looking. They got off fuck ton of food.
I thought. I thought we got a lot of food because we've got three
meals between the two of us, and they got so much. There's a
piranha plant caprizi salad where they've made a pirana plant out of lettuce and tomatoes.
So is that the pan menu or is that the Yeah, I'm looking
at the japan one now because that's what Paul Paul got that apparently, and
then you got this is another salad that has like Yoshi eggs on it,
And I don't remember seeing that on the Japan menu. I see Yoshi spinach
cabbinara that has a big Yoshi egg in the middle of of asda link me,
link me, though I want to see this. I was just linking
what I'm looking at. So, I mean, the desserts were the best
part for sure. Oh, they actually do the peach's cake. Yeah,
that was really cool. But that's that looks huge and it was a lot
like it's the whole cake from Mario sixty four. Oh it is her cake?
Yeah? Oh were you talking about her actual cake and not her ass
No, no, no, I was making a joke about her delicious booty,
but I didn't realize that it was actually a whole cake. No.
Yeah, that looked awesome. It is actually the cake from Mario sixty four,
but it looked too big. And yeah, it's like what twenty five
Actually twenty bucks not bad, but you got have like a group of people
to eat that. It's actually probably even like under twenty bove. Wait,
oh, the kid's meal gets the toy. Yeah you should have got the
kid's meal. I'm an adult. I want the toy too. Why can't
I have the toy? You just ordered the kid's mill as well. It's
like ten bucks. Fuck. Actually, the curry rice meal looks awesome.
It does, so they had a lot of curry in Japan. Yeah,
not see the salad that our manager got. Yeah, this is the little
hat I got. Oh that is cute, though, green curry chicken sandwich.
Oh, that probably would have been better the Luigi one. Yeah,
no, this was Honestly, this was a great experience. I I think
it's I think that is worth a little bit of a weight. I don't
know if. I mean, it is almost entirely air conditioned, so it's
ninety minutes and a nice air conditioned room. I don't know what it's like
in California, but I think it's worth it for the experience of getting the
little Definitely, I wish I had stayed and gone too, But I mean
it was a long day for everybody. It was long, hot, and
a lot of people and everything else was too busy. So when he said
ninety minutes, we just we wanted to. I'm actually kind of glad.
I mean, I am bummed. I didn't get to go to the cafe,
but I am glad we skipped out because it gave us enough time to
get to that video game store that was so insane that we found kind of
on accident. And then you, Hannah, I and Erica all ended up
meeting us at because you wanted to see it too, and we all bought
so much crazy stuff. And I don't think we would have gone there if
we hadn't dipped out early. So it's fine. It is fine. Also
I miss it did We kind of all did dip out early, like you
dipped out earlier, but we all were only at the park for like a
few Well, you guys got there super early, and we talked about that
already, but I was only at the park for like, well like three
or four hours. You were barely at the park, ye, And you
feel totally content with it, with what we did, Yeah, I'm totally
without. I would have much rather explored more of Osaka same. I felt
content other than missing out on the Toad's Cafe, But I am glad we
left when we did. But I didn't get to go to the Toad's Cafe,
but I did get to go to the Mario popcorn stand and get the
Mario cut popcorn container, which we had on the table through the whole first
part of this episode, so I won't bother going and getting it right now.
You and E both got those, and he had he had nowhere to
put his because it's massive, and he shrapped it to his back and he
was hitting it against everything and got all scratches on the top of Yeah,
he's a little wacky for that. I just put it in my backpack.
Yeah, but I'm happy with that because it's really cool. I'll say this
wasn't the only place you can get Mario themed food. There were I don't
know if you saw this, but on the way out in like the little
city area that's in the park. Oh yeah, I did see this.
There's like another like over the counter style cafe that had a huge line too,
and you get like these little it looked like it looked like a pancake
taco with like cream in it. Yeah, and they had fancy drinks too,
like ice drinks and actually looked better than like lemonades and stuff what was
in the park to me. But that line was also crazy long. But
the room it was in was also completely decked out with Mario. I got
some footage of it somewhere. Yeah, it looked like a Mario diner.
It was pretty cool. Yeah, they really marioed out a lot of the
park outside of just the theme park. A lot of the restaurants and areas
had a bit of a Mario makeover or at least had some Mario stuff to
buy. And there was like a whole Mario gift shop before you even get
into the park. So if you go and you can't get into the Nintendo
World, I mean, what a waste of time. But there is some
stuff in the park for you to look at that's Mario themed. Yeah.
Did we talk about the lines for the vending machine? Dude? No,
I don't know if we did, But the this we talked about the fact
that ten minutes into the park there was an hour and a half wait for
every ride. As we were leaving, we all saw this individually. There
was a vending machine. I'm sure a lot of them had this, but
there was this vending machine in particular just that had water and some pepsi in
it, and the line was like around the corner and down the street.
It was huge mass. The line was insane. However long you're thinking a
crazy line for a vending machine is, it was like three times that.
And it's so absurd because the stores that had merch had very short lines,
sometimes no line at all, and they all had water to get water.
Yeah. There was also I swear other vending machines we passed on the way
out that didn't have lines like that. I don't know what. We went
to a vending machine that was outside the park. It was just outside the
park, right outside the gate, and there was nobody there. I think
some study need to be done on I don't know how to go to just
dom absolutely brain dead people who go to parks like this. I mean,
we were there, but yeah, in a way because like what I was
gonna say is when you see a line for something you want and you just
kind of assume that's the line and you get in it no matter how long
it is, because you really want that thing, despite the fact that there
are other options, like two examples of this one. When we got to
the park, were talked about how we saw the wristbands on the way in
outside the park and we should get those, I know, but we should
get those now before we go in. So we waited in this line for
like twenty minutes to get these wristbands in the heat. To come to find
out, as you get in the park there's another one and there was no
line at all. You know what. I think it is, like,
well, there's that that which we already talked about, but there's I think
the thing with the vending machines is that these people don't want water, they
want soda. Stuck in the park. Maybe yeah, they're stuck in the
park for how many hours and then they're gonna be there for a couple more
hours. They don't want to leave point, and you can only get water
at the at the shops that have no lines. So if you really need
a soda, you're waiting for like thirty potently thirty minutes in ninety five degree
heat all day, and you don't want water that bad that you're lining up
to get a soda. I think so have other problems. Some people only
drink soda, and those are the people who are waiting on that line.
I mean, maybe if you like, I don't know, if you need
sugar, maybe you have like a like then people with like certain diabetes need
to have a certain amount of sugar a day like that I can get.
But if you don't, if that's not you and you just want to coke
and not a bottle of water. Also, if you if you're done and
you need the sugar, and you're first of all, you're at a park.
The sugar everywhere. Yeah, very well, if you need sugar for
a medical thing, you're gonna wait on a thirty minute line. No,
I'm gonna be like everybody out of the fucking way. I just die these
I need this. Just trying to find some rational explanation for waiting in that
line that makes sense to my brain. And then these are conditions, is
all I could come up. These are people who got other problems who drink
soda old just like I don't want a water, I want a nice refreshment.
I want it tastes bad, Yeah, water tastes. That's making me
want to get a water. I'm gonna thinking about it. So yeah,
that was the park. I guess we left right after Canopio's cafe. Uh.
He sat down pretty much right after us, and they did the same
thing. They ate and then and then left. Uh. Yeah, and
you were already in Osaka. Uh and we met up with you at the
UH at that game store, and it was awesome. Yeah, and let's
give too many spoilers because it's gonna be the final part of My My Vlugs.
It was the coolest store that we had found the entire trip. I
actually had a little bit of cool backstory where several days before it, in
Tokyo, Kim and I found a game store off the beaten track that was
really cheap and really cool and at a lot of really cool stuff, and
it was kind of we had to walk kind of out of the city to
get there a little bit, not too far, but a little bit.
And when we were in the Osaka Nintendo store, we looked up game stores
near and there was literally one and it was the same company, and it
was kind of out of the way and like again out of the way,
like a fifteen minute walk, and everything else, all the book offs and
everything we wanted to go to was in the complete other direction. And I
was literally I said to Kim, I'm like, I don't know if we'll
have time to do both of these. We got to pick one, and
she was like, well, we really liked the other store, so let's
go. And we went to this one, and sure enough it was insane,
like it was way bigger. It was filled with like every game,
every console, and it was all crazy cheap. And we had another English
speaking guy who was actually a fan of us come up and say that he
always goes to this store. It's like a hidden little gem store because it's
out of the way, it's not in the city, and their prices are
half the price of everywhere else. He's like, if you go to Akihabora
and all those other places, you're paying tourist prices, like this is like
real prices. And we were flawed. Like again, I don't want to
give too much away, but you bought a whole console. I won't say
what it is unless you can. I don't care. You bought a whole
family coom for like fifteen dollars. So I did the math last night.
Twelve twelve dollars. It was dollars. It was out of box, but
complete and in great condition. I was buying and I won't say what they
are, but I was buying N sixty four boxed games for under ten bucks,
like good ones. I was buying GameCube games. I was. I
bought a switch. I won't say what it is. But I bought a
switch like it. It was nuts. Like I had a stack most of
my suitcases from this store. I had to buy another suitcase, and so
did he because of this store. Yeah, it's so cool I have.
I'm having I gotta go through the footage because I'm having an issue remembering what
I got where. But I definitely got the family Colm there, and I
think I got a game Boy? Did I get a game from there?
I filmed everything you got? Did I get it? Did I get so?
I have two things here. I don't remember if I got the clear
game Boy or the DS light. I don't remember which one I got.
I would have to look at my footage too. Actually, I don't remember
spying a game Boy that this DA This game Boy is the most pristine used
game Boy color I have ever seen in my life. There is not a
scratch on the on the screen at all. Usually the clear part is like
yellowed a little bit. There's nothing, the battery contacts are mint, there
is there's even sound in game Boy colors. Usually the sound goes bad after
a while. And this DS, this blue DS is also it's so pristine,
and that there's some scratches where the touchscreen is, but there's a screen
protector on it. Oh my, so you just take the screen protector off.
It's a brand new DS that was I think forty dollars and it's in
the box and everything. The plastic is still there. The frickin' stylists has
plastic on it. It's incredible and you and you bought your stuff there.
You were at the counter for like thirty minutes. Yeah, because they were
just repackaging everything so exeately. So a lot of places in Japan do this,
I would say almost most places, but this place was great for it
too. Everything is like restealed, like they resteal everything in this really nice
thick plastic so that it's it's damaged free, like people like picking it up
the shelf to look at everything and then putting it back. It doesn't get
damaged because they've all sealed it in plastic. And they also take the games
out, I guess for theft, and they keep them behind the counter,
so they'll really carefully surgically with a knife undo the little plastic wraps. They'll
slide out the box, they'll put the game in, and then they'll slide
it back in and reseal it up. And it's literally like a white glove
operation that when you buy even a couple of things, it takes much longer
at the register than buying something normally would. But when you bought as much
as I did or E did, we were standing at the register for like
twenty minutes while they were like just snipping everything. And he went a little
wild too. Yeah, well a lot of there. We Kim and I
had free reign of this place for like an hour before you guys showed up,
and I swear almost everything he bought I had found already and picked up
at one point, but like I already had so much stuff. I was
like, this is getting insane. And I also know he is coming and
I'm pretty sure he's going to want this stuff too, so I put it
back down. I actually have a clip where I'm like, he's going to
buy this, and I said that to Kim, and then I have another
clip of me being filmed and he coming up and he's like, look at
this, and I was like, I know, I said you were going
to buy that. Yeah. I it was the end of the day,
so I kind of just grabbed a bunch of stuff and bought it. We
were I mean we were there for a good while. I was there a
long time. You were there a really long time because you were there even
before we got there. But I grabbed a bunch of stuff and just bought
it. And then I was there for like another thirty minutes because you were
still having all of your stuff wrapped up. And then he was buying stuff
too, and I kept finding more stuff that I wanted, and I was
like, I gotta leave this place. It was crazy. And that's before
you even talk about this is just the video games. They also had woes
and woes of video game figures, of knick knacks. They I didn't really
look at that stuff. They had so much crazy stuff. Man, they
had a ton of stuff in this section that was kind of like a mixed
bag. But there was a lot of like all the cafes and like Mario
Universal and like the little trinkets and stuff you can get that they're like selling
them there for like a few dollars, but like, oh, you could
like recognize all kinds of things from the Pokemon centers and cafes all around Japan.
They just kind of keep them all in this section. And it's kind
of cool seeing them all together, but also being able to buy them all
without the crazy lines. There was like a whole wall of just little plastic
tubs, and when I say a wall, I mean like hundreds of these
tubs, and each tubs had like thirty cents on them, and you'd open
them up and they'd be all these like stickers or key chains, and it's
all like anime and gaming and this miscellaneous stuff that I guess they don't throw
away. They just kind of add them to the to the bins. You
could spend days looking through these bins. There was such a cool place.
They were very cheap, and there was one aisle that had damaged stuff,
or that they called damage. I don't really know what they got. A
junk, yeah, junk, But I've only bought one thing from there,
and it was Metal gear Piece Walker for PSP for seventy five cents. Yeah,
so every junk game was one hundred and ten yen, which is like
seventy five cents. And I guess I'll just spoil this, but I got
like three sixty four games in here. One was Mario Party three. The
other two were equally great games. I can't remember what they were off top
of my head, but seventy five cents each, and like, even if
they're broken, And I got a few PlayStation one games in here too,
even if they're broken, for seventy five cents, just to put them on
a shelf or display purposes or like, I'm not gott to play it anyway.
Like you you can sell this in America for at least five bucks,
ten bucks for a broken game, just because of like not saying it's broken.
And you can also be satisfied. Yeah that's what was around here.
You're yeah, you got a battle piece Walker. You're selling that thing for
twenty five bucks. And if it doesn't work, oops yeah, sorry oopsie.
But I'm as I said to you. I'm also I don't think they're
all broken. I don't know what they don't. It looks fine. It
looked. I think it just didn't have a box, and they and because
all of the stuff that we don't know was so nice, neatly packaged,
and they ik so much about this shit, I really want to test them.
Obviously, I do this thing. Why did it last time? I
guess it's not a thing I do. I did it last time. I
was doing it this time where I haven't opened my suitcases yet with all my
stuff. So I'm going to make a video where what did I buy,
and I'm going to open it all. I'm going to see it all for
the first time since I got back. So when I've done that, I'm
going to obviously test these and sixty four games and see if they work.
If they don't, I don't care. There was seventy five cents, but
I was showing you they had like the Kingdom Hearts games on PlayStation two in
the junk section for seventy five cents. But the discs were perfect. Yeah,
there was not a scratch on them. The piece work looks totally fine.
And for discs you can kind of resurface them if there's really an issue.
But if it's that scratched, and for UMD or for PSP games,
the case that they come in, you could recase it. You could rip
the case off and put a new one on if if that's really the issue.
So there's I mean, I like that shit. I like there being
a junk shure sexually. The only disappointment I had was not a lot of
places had junk handhelds. I was really expecting to see more junk like consoles
and stuff that would have been cool. I imagine if I did get some
like I got a junk DS light right here that I'm probably gonna fix up
tonight. And we didn't talk about this, but the last place we went
to was actually in Tokyo that I don't think you bought anything up. I
think we just kind of went there. Oh yeah, because we stayed one
more night back in Tokyo before we This is actually kind of funny. The
end of the trip. We went back to Tokyo for one last night and
we got there at like seven pm. All of our flights with the next
day, we were all exhausted. We just traveled from Kyoto again. The
second we got into the hotel, like the second I thought it would be
funny to look up game stores and send one in group chat and be like,
who's up for another game store? And I found an actual looking one
and I put it in chat and everybody was like meet downstairs in ten minutes.
I was like, you got really like I didn't even feel like going,
but I was like, okay, I'll get the vibe if we want
to go, And sure enough, it was actually a really cool store,
but it was really expensive, to the point where they had a sign on
the store that said we are expensive, yeah, which we'd never seen before.
Yeah, we are expensive. It's a don't come into the store if
you don't want to buy anything. Yeah. And it was basically like this
long like broken English that said we don't know. I can't speak English.
Yeah, it said, I can't speak English. We know what we have
you. Everything's like basically what they were trying to say is that everything is
in really good condition, and they're collectors and their stores for collectors, and
they were right, but the prices weren't like amazing. I ended up buying
a game Boy Advance SP there because it was in really good condition and it
was only forty bucks. So that's a pretty good deal on a game Boy
Advance SP. It's not the AGS one oh one, it's not the one
with the backlight. So I was like, I'll buy it and I'll put
a new screen in it. Usually you're paying like almost like one hundred bucks
for a yeah game mass victoms. That's crazy good in Japan terms. It
was like you just it was fine, you bought it, but I took
it. It came with the box which is a and the box is pretty
mint. I opened up all my stuff last night and I was going through
it. Uh, and I haven't actually turned it on because it had to
charge. Oh tell me, this thing didn't freaking charge. Maybe that's the
problem. Oh no, maybe it doesn't charge. It was expensive. It
better work. It works. There we go. Okay, So I was
looking at it, and it's pretty mint. Dude, Like, I'm a
kind of I kind of don't even want to model at all, but I
mean it does. It's got the shittier screen. The only issue is that
it has like some little like what looks like teethmarks, like somebody chewed it
like up. But otherwise it's freaking kids, it's freaking Greaty. That's a
nice color. Yeah, the color is really nice. I'm like afraid to
mod it, but I think I'm gonna mod it anyway. You can throw
a wolf down logo on that and it would almost just be right. Yeah.
I ordered a bunch of parts to to mod it, but I have
another one that I should probably mod instead of this, but I don't.
I don't know. I'm kind of freaking out, Like I don't know if
I want to, like this game Boy color that I have, I don't
want to touch because it's so it's beautiful. This one. It just has
like some teeth marks at the top, but otherwise the screen is like perfect.
I feel kind of bad to mod every console. Well, part of
the it's part of the video, you know. I want to like show
that I got a bunch of stuff and what I did to fix them up.
Well, you can modit then. So so one of the ideas somebody
on d told me was because I have the same color, but it's the
one with the back light, and it's it's significantly shittier looking. Somebody was
telling me I should take all the insights from that and put it in this.
Okay, I mean it's the same color, Yeah, it may as
well. Yeah, but then I don't know if the screen lens is going
to be the same. I don't know. I feel like if I'm opening
this up, I might as well just fucking do the works on it.
It was only forty bucks. So this DS light that I got that is
all messed up. This I got in this I got at the one in
Knockano, and this was like eighteen bucks or something. Fixing. Yes,
so at the screen. The top screen is actually messed up in the bottom
screen is like yellowing. I have a new bottom screen and I have an
entire new top part, so I'm just gonna completely fix it up. Okay,
that one I'm okay with. Yeah, I don't know what show on
I'm gonna work on tonight, but one of them I will. And that
was the Japan trip. Yeah. And then I flew home. Yeah,
we flew we flew home. I don't want to I don't want to give
anyone flight anxiety, so I'll just say that my flight home was a little
crazy. They did, they did flips, they did we did backflips.
Uh. I'm not gonna I don't know. I feel like when I hear
playing stories it gets my anxiety going. So I'll just say that, Uh.
After the event happened, the uh, the uh, I went to
go pee and the the air hostess I don't know what they're actually called.
And then it was Stewardest. They they were standing around that that areas where
the bathroom wasn't also that little area, and they asked me how I was
doing because they came they came to check on people after and like I wasn't
doing the best. I was like meditating in my seat. Uh, and
I was like, I'm fine now I've been like a few hours. And
they were they were like, yeah, that was feel what they said.
That was a little rougher than even we like. And I was like,
when it's like that pretty bad. Well, they were saying, like,
you know, we're so used to turbulence, and you can kind of tell,
like what kind of turbulence you're getting, like apparently when you you can
get in another plane's slip stream. They were saying, so like if a
plane's in front of you, you can ride at slipstream and that will actually
give you a little bit of turbulence. And they were like, you can
kind of tell, like when it's slipstream turbulence or regular turbulence. And they
were like, that was that was one of the worst ones we've experienced.
It was like, yeah, there were people screaming on the plane. That's
that's I don't like that at all. It was hours was incredibly smooth.
It was awesome. Even the takeoff. I barely even felt the takeoff.
Dude, it took off, and then that was just it was just you
know how usually it takes off and you feel it for like a good fifteen
minutes. You feel that you're going fast. It took off for like a
minute, and we were good. I don't know how to be so wildly
different. We were going to the same place and you left an hour after
us. I hear that different airlines take off at different angles. I don't
know how true that was. I could see that. I could see that.
I think they probably will have their own flight patents right so that they
don't interrupt or affect each other's white patterns. Maybe yeah, uh, I
don't know. It just it felt really good. Also, we were like
on the wing so landing also because like after that happened, I was on
edge like the whole time, and it was rumbling like the whole time.
It never really smoothed out. And then when we finally got to New Jersey,
they said that they couldn't land because there was like it was too busy,
So they had to start doing circles and they circled for like forty five
minutes, and I was, Oh, that sucks. I was so done
by that point, dude, I was like, land this mother fricking plane.
Now. I probably told this before, but when we when I first
went to Japan the first time in twenty nineteen. We were landing and then
they abord the landing. They they they were about to I think you have
told me this, and I hate they were about to hit the tarmac and
then they just they just went back up. Whoa dude they were. I'd
be like, drop me off, kick me out, and then they were
like they went over the thing and they were like uh we uh something like
we had to abort the landing. Were given in another try, and I
was like, all right, give it a good try. How long did
it take to get back around? Not long at all, it was.
I mean, I don't remember exactly, but it was they literally just circled
and again, and I don't remember that. I don't think they ever explained
exactly what the problem. Sometimes I wonder if they've got like a new guy
up there, because you got at some point you need a new guy,
right, like a new guys. There's always there's always at least two.
I don't know what they do when it's a long flight. I don't know
if they have more than two. But they're not going to give you two
new guys, that is true. But at some point the new guy has
to try. I just feel like when it's really bad, maybe the new
guy they I bat the turbulence. I feel like on a on a big
plane like that, you're mostly just programming it in and just I know i'd
heard it's like all automatic. Really they did say about the bad turbulence.
They were like, uh, usually we can see it coming, but they
said that they look like up there they can. Apparently they can. They
know almost exactly where it's gonna be. And they said the pilot was trying
to go around it, and then all of a sudden it was way like
the pocket was way bigger than they expected, and they were just in it.
And so I don't know if I told you this yet, but literally,
I'll just tell you what happened. We're already here, the car is
calming down, and she's doing champagnes for people, and she was giving Kim
her champagne at the time. She was like pouring Kim champagne. And then
over the announcement, we just hear everybody take your seats. Immediately, she
like drops the champagne to the point where the champagne falls all over the floor
in the aisle, like she dropped it and then just started like she like
kicked the wheel to like unlock it and started ramming it back, and almost
immediately we were doing loop to loops in the air and people were screaming.
It was it was a little nutty, but and I want to say too,
I was very anxious about getting on the plane initially, which we talked
about, and I had a bunch of an array of of tic TACs to
take just in case, and I only I did pretty good on the way
there. I only ended up taking like a quarter of a zany to get
me on the plane, and then I just took little bits here or there
to get me through the flight. But we had such a great trip that
by the end I was feeling so much better. And I got on that
plane on my own, and I was quite closing, and I was like,
this is fine. I've done a whole two weeks in Japan. I'm
just going home. I'm going to see Dalla. I don't need anything to
help me. I can do this. I was so proud of myself,
and then that immediately hit and I looked at Kim and I grabbed the pill
bottle and I gave her one and I gave myself one. I was like,
I don't know, I'm out. Well you made it through that.
Yeah, I know, you make it through you know, I mean you
did. You did good the whole time we were there. The only time
you left was because of the Mario world and that was reasonable. Yeah,
And that wasn't really even anxiety. That was like it was overwhelming, but
it was just like a normal amount of overwhelming. There was too many people
and it was way too hot. We couldn't get into anything, so we
were just we were kind of done. But it wasn't like an anxiety done.
We just hopped on a train and went to a soccer Yeah. Yeah,
No, the whole trip was very refreshing. I not to I hate
when I make it about me, but we're at the end of the show.
Who cares. The first like five days, I was taking a little
bit of my medication to like get out in the city and do things.
And then I just stopped at some point, and the back half of the
trip I was just me for like four or five days. I didn't tell
you this, but you remember the day I was really grumpy. Yeah,
that was when we got to Kyoto. That was that rough for everybody that
was That was rough for everybody. But it was the first day I was
on my own, and I think I had a bit of like a what
do you mean on your own? Like you were I didn't in the medication.
I didn't take any zany that day. It was the first day in
like a week straight, I didn't take any and I think I crashed and
I think it just made me like super bummed out. And that's why I
was so grumpy, because I took one on the plane on the way home
because of the turbulence. And then the next day I was really grumpy and
I was like, oh, Okay, that's probably what happened. I think
it's a I mean, I wouldn't put it all on on that. I
will also say that it's just an exhausting thing you put yourself through. That's
just a normal reaction. App Yeah, I think I was. I think
there might have been a bit of what I just said, But the day
itself was the trigger, because like that, everyone was kind of beat that
day. Let's talk more about that in the bonus, because I have Let's
talk about my flight took that. That's that's our Japan trip. We're done.
