Speaker 1: It's a foul territory presented by a fox one. Let's go. Oh, we got tod Father joining us in just a minute.

00:00:09
Speaker 2: No, I want to show.

00:00:10
Speaker 1: Let me ask him for permission, tod Father, before you come back up here. Can we show the hard work that you're doing to tape up the desk? He said? Okay, he said, yes, so we can. We can show too, shot to see hod Father is under the desk. There he is, okay, doing doing the loads work, working on taping things up under the desk to make it really pretty, so that if you're creepy and you look at us under the desk, you will only see Todd Father's shoes and his pants and not some wires.

00:00:47
Speaker 3: Great job, Tom, great job. He's like the kid. He's like the kid under the adults table at Thanksgiving or the dog under the table at Thanksgiving. But either way you're you're definitely in in his comfort zone.

00:01:02
Speaker 1: For me, I think it was important to show that Todd Father is a dad who fixes things, just like many of you out there who might be watching or listening, or a mom or a kid. Maybe your parents suck at doing that stuff and you're a kid and you're stuck with all of that. Todd father is a man of people. He very capable of taping things to desks, among many other traits. It's like how Cameo has the sending a message to someone. Maybe there should be something where you can actually hire your favorite celebrity to come over and help fix the house and you guys spend some time together. It would be much more costly. We can take some time up. But maybe that's the thing. Hey, there he is, there is You can't hear him yet, but he's coming up. We're we can second way, first minute, we.

00:01:51
Speaker 3: Can hear him.

00:01:52
Speaker 1: Are you productive?

00:01:53
Speaker 3: We can hear Todd, he just can't hear us. Now he's got like we can definitely, Like you can play pickle ball with your favorite celebrity. Now Todd is going to do a He's going to come to your house and he's going to fix things for you. If he's a big duct tapeman, he will duct tape.

00:02:10
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:02:11
Speaker 1: He brought two varieties today, Ana, if you want to show them off. Two varieties today, black and white tape. One's a little thicker, one's a little more pliable.

00:02:22
Speaker 2: There you go, Okay, we'll see what happens.

00:02:24
Speaker 1: Wait, for the Loser Home Depot sponsorship coming up next month. But we've got a sponsor to hit and we have a series to hit. We did a postgame show last night on the Blue Jays losing again to the Mariners. Miners looking great heading back to Seattle. So we did nice thirty minutes on that. We're going to talk more about that series coming up, but we are going to start with the NLCS. Let's charge the man presented by lids charge whoa what happened in Game one A lot? But I think we should start Blake snow You faced Blake's now right.

00:03:03
Speaker 4: Never liked facing him. He's eight innings, ten ks.

00:03:09
Speaker 1: Some people didn't want to see him out.

00:03:11
Speaker 2: Of the game.

00:03:11
Speaker 4: Yeah no, And you know what, I think back to that time where they took him out when he was with the Rais, when they took him out, I forget what ending, fifth, sixth inning, whatever it was, and he was cruising, man, and you let this guy eat. I think he had one hundred and thirteen pitches. He was dominant this whole time. And he's a guy that now all of a sudden review the Dodgers you can lean on, and that is huge. There's been a lot of moving parts with this Dodger team. You know, seems like they have a new closer now in Suzaki. It seems like they're clicking on all cylinders. There's a mistake on the field. They had bases loaded, and we'll get into that, and they didn't score a run and now all of a sudden they win a two to one ball game. I mean, it was absolutely amazing performance by him. He's like a fine wine. I'm telling you right now, you just want to sip on for forty years to come.

00:03:59
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:03:59
Speaker 4: It just one of those moments where you look at a veteran pitcher now a veteran guy they call him, and he goes out there and crushes makes us veteran ex players feel pretty good.

00:04:10
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:04:11
Speaker 1: I mean, he's efficient, He's much more efficient now and he knows he's got the stuff to pull this off. By the way, just for the history context, and I know most of you know about this, but twenty twenty five and a third scoreless dominant innings in Game six of the World Series, Kevin Cash to the mound doesn't want him to see Mookie Betts again. Is now current teammate, and the rest is history in the Dodgers favor. This time they have him on their side, crats And still, despite all of that, Milwaukee could have.

00:04:41
Speaker 2: Won this game.

00:04:43
Speaker 1: Bryce to red take one for the team. If that pitch is coming at you, what do you do me?

00:04:49
Speaker 3: I'm not hitting forth, I'm not the team's not relying on me to swing the bat and drive those runs in. That John's hit me right in the back knee and I'm limping all the way to first base as soon as I got two strikes on me. Anything close, I am one. If it's anything close away from me, I'm swinging. Is anything close to me that John's hitting me, I'm taking it. But look, it's got to be a reaction in the moment, like you can't you can't fault him. And it only would have tied the game, It wouldn't have it wouldn't have won them the game.

00:05:22
Speaker 4: I still I want to go back to that point that Jimmy Rollins right right done posted Jimmy Rowins post game was about Bryce ter Ran getting out of the way of the ball.

00:05:31
Speaker 2: Could have been a potential tying game.

00:05:32
Speaker 4: The end quotes, I played with a guy that definitely would have for sure let that hit him. End quotes from Jimmy Rollins. I mean, listen, it is I think you're spot on cratzy. It's an instinctual reaction. It was a breaking pitch that went down and then you're first looking out over the plate and you get your foot down. Next thing you know it's coming at you. Your first instinct is to get out of the way. There's then there is there's a couple guys. I mean, Brandon Geyer. It was one guy that I could think of that would just not move. But again, this isn't a fastball. This isn't a fastball, Scott. This is it's a breaking pitch. So your eyes are going to tell you a different story.

00:06:09
Speaker 2: When you see it.

00:06:10
Speaker 4: It looks like it maybe it looked like a heater to him when it came at him, You're like, oh, let me get out of the way. It's an instinctual reaction. And you know you can't blame him. Would if you're a Brewers player or teammate. Honestly, you wanted to hit him, But at the same token, you know it's a reaction. You can't blame the guy for getting out of the way. You wish he didn't, though, do.

00:06:29
Speaker 1: You remember Martin Maldonado did this where he would basically stand on home plate and take a happy Gilmore hit see the body. He did it in the postseason. He's like, yeah, I can't hit any more. I'm in the nine spot, so if this thing hits me, then great. So do you think Bryce Terrang feels bad or this is just what a major league player does instinct wise, you're not thinking you're up at the plate, biggest moment of your career.

00:06:55
Speaker 3: If you come.

00:06:56
Speaker 1: Through, What do I do if the pitch is about hit me?

00:07:00
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:07:00
Speaker 4: No, I I if they're thinking about that right now because they lost the game. Because of that, they got they got bigger problems, so no chance. I think he woke up fine this morning, probably upset they didn't get the job done. He didn't get the job done. But other than that move on.

00:07:16
Speaker 3: I think I think he thought about it right afterwards. You saw he saw the pitch him get out of the way of it, which, by the way, he only has two hip by pitches this year, so he's not a dude that hangs in there and is like okay, like some guys just never moved. But he saw him. He was like and he kind of like as he stepped out, he's like, oh yeah, okay, and maybe it affected. He's like, hey, I gotta get this job done. I am not letting this ball get by me because he swung at one that was well out of the zone.

00:07:51
Speaker 1: This is for everyone listening right now. What are you wearing right now? And why isn't it me on Deese Kratz. It is time for everyone to upgrade and get that super Soft micro Modal glory so good that you don't want to take it off.

00:08:08
Speaker 3: The reason I'm stone facing you is because that's how soft they are. It's ridiculous, Like I feel, I don't even understand what kind of material it is. It's got to be something space age.

00:08:19
Speaker 1: For your butt signature super Soft micro Modal fabric, breathable, stretchy, unbelievably cozy, and now you can even get glow in the dark part of the Halloween line. Right now as a listener of FT, you can get cozy and spooky for less with deals up to fifty percent off at me undies dot com slash foul enter promo code foul. That's me undies dot com slash foul promo code foul for up to fifty percent off me Undie's comfort. That's made for fall Hey build out, Blake Trining, and the Dodger bullpen, which showed some cracks. The weakness of the Dodgers is their bullpen.

00:09:03
Speaker 3: Right absolutely why. That's why Dave Roberts was thinking, it's fifty to fifty. I'm sending Blake Snell out with one hundred and three pitches. I'll be honest. I don't know why he didn't. I know Dave Roberts said, hey, you know Rokie's been good. Uh, you know, we do need him to come back in five days like he's gonna be on regular rest. Blake Snell. I've said this for years. Look at the numbers for Blake Snell. The third time through means nothing to him. He actually was getting better in his career. He gets better, and that's because he has confidence to be able to throw all of his pitches for strikes. For him to have no walks last night shows me that I would have continued to go at him. I know if it was one it was one nothing game. No, I don't put him back out there because I think Roki has better stuff to nothing. Sorry, they haven't put any good at bats together. The only balls they put in play were like two strikeouts. You're like, all right, at least I got I didn't strike out like that was a that was a plus. When guys would weekly put it in play, it's like, well, at least it's not punch out. Yeah.

00:10:07
Speaker 1: Often it would come early in an ab which is why he got to the ninth inning with what was the final pitch con for him, one O three.

00:10:17
Speaker 2: No, I was off by ten.

00:10:19
Speaker 1: One O three. So that's my thing is if you're managing the Dodgers, as long as Blake says he feels okay, which I'm sure he did, let him go keep eating, right, this is the time where you build up to this to this point, and he signed with you for years, like there's nothing to worry about here, go eat.

00:10:36
Speaker 4: By the way, I was on a plane flying home when that was going. I felt like it was one in the morning from Vegas back home. So sorry about the one O three is the one thirteenth, and let me let him eat. Man, let him go out.

00:10:48
Speaker 1: A lot of people think one O three is one thirteen in Vegas.

00:10:52
Speaker 4: Let him go out and give him another out if he doesn't get the first guy out. Then we start talking a little bit, you know, but it's out of the order.

00:11:01
Speaker 2: Yeah. True.

00:11:03
Speaker 3: And and if you do that, you keep Jake Bowers on the bench. Jake Bowers has hit some big postseason clutch hits. Homer last year. Now this year he had a double. Like, you keep that same lineup in. They're not pinch hitting anybody that wasn't already in the lineup. They have their lineup out there. And like Todd said, one guy gets on. Okay, appreciate your night. Now we still got Rokie Cratty.

00:11:26
Speaker 4: Let me ask you this. That double he hit the center field right in the last ny.

00:11:31
Speaker 3: Do you remember m yeah, over over.

00:11:36
Speaker 4: What Why weren't they playing no doubles there? Like, why wasn't he further back?

00:11:41
Speaker 3: Zero idea?

00:11:42
Speaker 4: All right, That's why I thought I wanted to make sure I wasn't losing it. I was watching on the plane and I'm watching it was going kind of buffering in and out, and I see the ball drop and I'm like, oh my god. I mean, if you're playing no doubles, it's a running catch going into the wall in my opinion, right.

00:11:57
Speaker 3: I mean not even going I think he stops before because I think it landed at the edge of the warning track. I'd have to go see it again because it bounced over like that's the matter.

00:12:06
Speaker 2: Huge.

00:12:07
Speaker 3: It seemed weird to me. It seemed weird to me because it was like they were playing him shallow pool and in that case, you already have a run around first. That run means nothing. Keep everything in front. I don't care if that go first to home on a single to center because you're so deep. Let him score like you keep him at first base.

00:12:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Mookie Betts to the rescue is another RBI walk that gives them the insurance run. We're talking about things that went wrong. Oh, we should have let Snell pitch another inning, bullpen showed a crack pahes should have been playing further back, and yet they won the game. Wait, there's one other issue too, the craziest double play in postseason history.

00:12:51
Speaker 4: I didn't see it live, so I'm like so upset about I just remember getting some links on my phone, you know, going in and out of service, and I couldn't there. But oh my god, I have never seen somebody not score from dead center field against the wall, bounce off the wall to catch and the runner at third didn't score? Are you kidding me?

00:13:11
Speaker 1: Oh?

00:13:11
Speaker 2: My god? And who was a ta oscar at third base?

00:13:14
Speaker 4: Listen at the end of the day, great player, he's jogged out a couple of balls that we've seen. He's jogged to a couple of balls in the outfield like these got it? In these type of games, you gotta be better. I mean, that could have been huge a double play.

00:13:29
Speaker 2: What was it?

00:13:29
Speaker 4: An eight six two one assisted Cratzy as you said earlier in our meetings today, eight six two one assisted. I don't think that's probably ever happened in baseball. I would love to call alias up and see, but to not score from that, and you're a fast runner like I could see CRATSI er eye not making it there.

00:13:47
Speaker 2: But you gotta know the rules, Scott.

00:13:50
Speaker 4: Once it hits the glove and you already go tag up and go even if he catches it.

00:13:56
Speaker 2: By the way, I I feel like he was cooking.

00:13:59
Speaker 1: Home average ish. But it doesn't matter. I mean, doesn't any big leaguer get home he was.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: He was cooking home. He looked like he was going one hundred miles an hour.

00:14:09
Speaker 3: He was running for his life. That's for sure.

00:14:13
Speaker 2: And you know what the funny thing about the whole thing was, who was the on duck batter?

00:14:17
Speaker 4: Oh my god, after monthsy k, he's kei K. He's yelling to the dugout it's a home run. It's a home run.

00:14:26
Speaker 2: He saying the review.

00:14:27
Speaker 4: He had no clue either, So everybody was it was just a pile of craziness.

00:14:33
Speaker 3: There's so there's so much to unpack with this play. Also the fact that if they had gone back and reviewed it, Max Munsey could have been called out for passing the runner at first, because if you watched the end of the play, Max has gone around first, and then as I'm not sure who was coming back to first, maybe Freddy because Will Smith went back to second. I doubt it was Freddy, but whoever it was was coming back to first, and Max was still in fair territory. So as soon as Freddy hits first as a live runner, yeah, Batter's out for passing passing the runner in front. So technically there could have been a third out that would have negated everything. But there's like nobody will ever get thrown out from from center field, tagging up like that's just an auto easy tag up. You joked about it like I today wouldn't get thrown out if they started with the ball at the same spot as south Freelick and he throws it. As soon as he throws it, I start running safe. There's no way. But because ta Oscar went two steps off after he saw the juggle and he thought he needed to go back, his momentum stopped, went back to the bag, stopped again. And the biggest thing for me credit to William Contreras. As much as like some people could be like, oh, William's kind of out there for himself, he's kind of flashy, emotional. He knew this play was a force out. If he goes to tag him at home safe, most guys are like even KEK, KEYK thought no, no, no, no, you got checked that, you got checked that it wasn't a catch. You're right, Keyk. It wasn't a catch. That ball was That ball's a force out at home And so good for William Contraras to stretch like it's a force out.

00:16:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, And I want to make a big explanation about defense. First off, this isn't a play you work on in the offseason. You work on double cuts, you work on throwing a basis that guys are leading towards. You think about Freelick, first off, he gets the ball quickly, doesn't hesitate. If there's a slight hesitation, better safe, throws it in firm throw. Perfect throw as a shortstop, Ortiz as a shortstop. Once you see that happen, you're you're moving, You're looking. Let me see where the runners are because that ball is already in motion. Once you see the ball in motion, knowing all right, that ball gonna come to me, give a quick peek boom, catch throw. It's everything that happened there and and not and the force out at home. You got to give the defense credit there. I mean, that was absolutely phenomenal play. It worked out in their favor. They still lost the game, but imagine they ended up winning, losing three to two there and.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: They came back.

00:17:18
Speaker 4: You know, it's just the game within the game, Cratzy, and you can follow up on this, but every moment of that play was meticulous and was perfection be an athlete. That's what I tell my kids.

00:17:32
Speaker 3: And what you said about like a lot of kids, is the kids listening to this. What Todd was saying is perfect when you're the cutoff man or girl. It's so you don't have to just stand there like, throw me the ball, throw it to me. Here we go. Yes, you have to get your feet in the right position, but you can look away from the play to see where the runner is and then catch the ball to throw it like. There's so many aspects of it that or Joey Ortiz did an incredible job and made a pinpoint throw. He didn't try to bounce it. He made the throw all the way in the air. It was it was just an It was an awesome play. And I'm seeing too many of these things happen to the Dodgers, which also shows me how freaking talented they are, because they're coughing some things up. They're not doing some great things. There's some questionable, you know, questionable manager moves. They have holes in their team, and yet they're up one to zero and yet another National League Championship Series.

00:18:30
Speaker 4: There's no way Joey Ortiz did not look to see where the runners are, because if you're a shortstop, you're coming up when you catch that ball, you're assuming the run around third scored already. If you're not assuming that, you are some sort of spectacular ball player. He did not assume he had to have taken a peek back just to make sure and see where the runners were. He caught it on a nose and through it. You can't say enough about the defensive play. What is going to make you get to the championship in the World Series? Plays like that?

00:19:01
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:19:03
Speaker 1: How come Tao didn't listen to his third base coach?

00:19:06
Speaker 2: Do you know hard to hear for one?

00:19:08
Speaker 3: Okay, no, that's not the third base coaches called it all.

00:19:14
Speaker 1: No, I mean no, but he's telling them like if you're confused and you're looking at him. Dino also knew what he was doing. He's like, go, what are you doing?

00:19:21
Speaker 4: Well, yeah, but you if you're I'll try and dumbste like, you have to know what to do in that situation. You can't rely on somebody's voice, you know what I mean? Even if there's it's like him and I had him coaching a high school game.

00:19:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna hear dog get back run. Yeah, you're gonna hear that.

00:19:40
Speaker 4: But your mind is telling you one thing and your mind's listening to another. Like it's you're you're racing. It's it's hard but you should know what you're doing.

00:19:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, just from the fan perspective, I'm like, did he get instructed differently? Like what happened?

00:19:53
Speaker 2: Why?

00:19:53
Speaker 1: Why is it so confusing? Like regardless of what the result of the play is either way, Like if you're not knowing, just on the damn bag and then.

00:20:01
Speaker 2: Run home not understand?

00:20:02
Speaker 4: Yeah what just trying to get his wheels were his legs were moving and his brains were telling him something else, you know what I mean, we.

00:20:08
Speaker 3: Saw it last serious, That's how the Dodgers won. Oryan Kirkeran knows that ball doesn't go home there, he knows he needs to throw it the first he had a brain fart. I hope Tao knows that he doesn't need to retag up after a bobbled ball. But sometimes your brain's like, oh wait what And just that little got the out at the plate.

00:20:34
Speaker 1: Right, the moment caught him. So after all of that, right, the Dodgers still won the game two to one. Oh and shoe O Tani is not out of his slump now. He had some Yeah, I mean he had a key intentional walk right. His presence alone is big, and I do think that his first a b crats set a tempo, he worked a nice walk, nice plate appearance there, so the Phillies had dominant left hand pitch to handle him. Same thing with Freddie Freeman. I think sixteen out of the twenty a b's for Freeman in the last round. We're against left handed pitching, and oh, look at Freddy coming through with a home run that's still in the air hang time wise against the right handed pitchers. So, man, this team looks really good despite what we're talking about. Right Like, things did not go their way and they still want a two to one game.

00:21:23
Speaker 4: It seems like every team Cratty's played four in the playoffs and now is not finding the way to win games anymore.

00:21:29
Speaker 2: They don't want any teams in the chest Yankees Brewers.

00:21:33
Speaker 3: I'm gonna have I'm gonna have one in the I'm gonna have one in the Championship. So that's it. We have one in the World Series. Who Mariners?

00:21:44
Speaker 2: Oh you played for the Mariners. I mean, I know, I didn't know. I didn't know. I don't know.

00:21:51
Speaker 1: He's been in their org.

00:21:52
Speaker 3: Fred's and Freddy. I know, we got to go Freddy's home run first RBI. So they've gotten through these two series with already having one RBI and show hey being non existent.

00:22:04
Speaker 2: That's that's really good for them.

00:22:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a problem for a good world exactly. Hey, Andy mcalin talked about this. Adamccalvey, who covers The Brewis, talks about this all the time too. Pat Murphy declines to shake player hands during pregame introductions in the playoffs, so now some of the players smack him in the chest. I saw others that just ignore him. He is a hoot, He's hilarious.

00:22:31
Speaker 4: I'm like going off and something different. I've always thought like after like the series, they should all shake hands, like afterwards, like hockey.

00:22:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, yeah, what after the series or after each game?

00:22:47
Speaker 4: No, not after not after each game, but after the series, after the series. Hey, you know you boys, tell you what a series? You know what I mean, great job, good luck, and then move on.

00:22:55
Speaker 2: I don't know.

00:22:57
Speaker 4: To me, I feel like that's a little maybe if much, I don't know, man Like maybe it's backlash, But I feel like I'd love what they're doing with Pat though. That's pretty cool. He seems like a happy, gold lucky deal with everything he does. But yeah, after the series, give some love, man, it's a hard fought battle.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Man. We'll see you next year.

00:23:13
Speaker 1: Good luck, go get him and handshakes. Crafts for the umpires too.

00:23:17
Speaker 2: Just not the pod trase just right right?

00:23:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, too soon for the padres. But now, this is one of the things that I thought when Pat got the job, was he going to have to change as a manager. This is the kind of little stuff he's been doing. The Pocket bagels before the Pocket pancakes, way before the Apple TV game ever made it popular.

Hey, we've got Fabia and Ardaya joining us right now, covering the Dodgers here during their quest for back to back World Series titles, and they take down the Brewers in Game one of the NLCS, So let's spen at forward to game two. Faby On, thanks for joining us, and how do you think the Dodgers line up for this game too? Do you like the way that Dave Roberts and the front office lined up the rotation for this series or are you on the side with some Dodger fans that feel as if Ya Momoto has had trouble against the Brewers and they should have gone in a different direction.

00:25:15
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:25:15
Speaker 5: I think ultimately he came down to who you wanted to have start twice this series between Ylmoto and Otani and what that kind of allows everyone else to do. Otani, I think they would have been able to do twice in a series, but that probably would have required him pitching games two in game seven. Yal motor, you can get away with games two in game six, so I think honestly became a math problem at that point. I think Yo Motor makes a lot of sense, and obviously it had to blow up Start Milwaukee this year, but has earned the right to sort of be in the sort of spot with how he pitched this season overall, and I don't think you can really go wrong when he comes to those four guys.

00:25:51
Speaker 3: Do you think part of the show Hey thing was him being a visitor and how that changes his warm up routine? You know, and obviously the pitcher has to be in in time before the other before your team's hitting, but Shohey needs to be in in extra time. Do you think part of that went into it? Because Doc said, no, it has nothing to do with his hitting, which a little I'm a little hesitant to believe that.

00:26:19
Speaker 5: I would argue, honestly, that impacts him more when they're at home than on the road, just because he throws that first in. He doesn't get a chance to go into the dugout, catch his breath or anything at all. He sort of has to immediately get ready to go hit, at least when he's hitting and the next half inning needs to go pitch. They do give him a little bit more time on the pitch clock. He has a chance to catch his breath a little bit more. And you sort of see that at home especially, but you see that's in both cases at home. On the road, he'll try to end the a bat a little bit sooner offensively when he's pitching, but especially at home when he's sort of you tell there's some fatigue coming off the mound and immediately going in stepping in the batter's box.

00:26:58
Speaker 4: I want to talk a little bit about pitching a little bit. So Zaki came in again. It seems like it's a face to love. I mean, this guy, all of a sudden, it's like the new clubs. He struggled a little bit yesterday, had to get taken out.

00:27:12
Speaker 2: What do you what do you think of him? Like?

00:27:14
Speaker 4: Is this is this like the their guy moving on forward? It seems like this is their closer for the whole rest of the playoffs.

00:27:21
Speaker 5: I mean, he's clearly the guy they trust, and they don't have a lot of those guys right now. But obviously there's still a lot new with this. They're still trying to figure out how he's gonna just all this. And he saw that last night, like he had those three innings in the NLDS Game four against the Phillies. Obviously he had three days of rest between, but clearly there was some sort of carryover. In fact, the velocity was down, the command was off, and clearly there was it looked like some signs of fatigue. Will Smith even said he looked a little tired out there. Uh, this is all still so new. They're all trying to figure out how this all works. And they can't go through this World Series run if they will repeat, if he's pitching in every single win, like, they have to find other ways to still get through games. He's still the guy they trust the most, but they have to have other guys step up in that bullpen.

00:28:09
Speaker 3: Where do you see that happening? Because Vesia has shown in his little in his small outing, and Blake Trynon has shown they're not the guys to get it done. Are we gonna see Robleski getting a save? Is Emmett. She isn't gonna get a save if if Yamamoto goes eight tonight.

00:28:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think she's the name you sort of look to. That's the guy that they see as possibly They saw him as this possible secret weapon in this October run before Rookie Psaki really kind of took advantage of this opportunity and really jumped and took it. But she is still a guy that really high on. Obviously he's given up a few runs over the course of this series, but that's a guy that they really like to bet on. If there's another lefty besides Vessia that they trust, I would say it's Jack Dryer actually a little bit before Justin Robleski, just because of how steady he's been all season long. But yeah, I think that it's gonna be either those two guys. It's got to be Alex Vesi at some point. They still do trust him and Blake trying to You saw it. Obviously, it has not been a good season for him. It was a terrible September for him, but Dave Roberts still went him in that spot last night and he came through. So I think they're still gonna keep having him opportunities to kind of show that their faith in him is worth it. But yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see how they managed the ninth and he's going.

00:29:27
Speaker 3: Forward, Bobby, And do you feel like if we went back a year, the Dodgers have only won that as people were saying the COVID World Series, they haven't been able to get it done. In the length of the series. There was a lot of like, I don't know, it's a good team, but are they able to do it to now where we are they're one to zero in the NLCS, like this is the best team. They're just unbelievable. Everything they do, they're so good. Do you think our view of them right now is jaded or are they really this good and pretty much unstoppable.

00:30:02
Speaker 5: I wouldn't say they're unstoppable because we talked about the bullpen, like that's obviously something that's gonna come kind of be an issue throughout here. But I do think that there is something to what they were able to tap into last October, the fact that this is a lot of the same group. They understood what it takes and I think they kind of knew, especially if you get out of the short series. Once these series gets stretched out, it comes down to, like, who's the more talented team. I think more often than not, it's gonna be the Dodgers, and I think they kind of understand that they can sort of break down teams over the course of a longer series, and there's a confidence that comes with that. Like they I think they are playing with a lot of confidence that came from winning the World Series last year. In the way that they did it. I think there was something too in twenty one they ran out of gas twenty two, twenty three, you start to hear like, oh, they can't really finish it off in a full season.

00:30:52
Speaker 2: You start to.

00:30:53
Speaker 5: Believe that or buying into that a little bit, and that gets in your head a little bit. I think they are past that point now and there's a confidence that there's start playing with October knowing that they've done it before and that they know what it takes to sort of do.

00:31:04
Speaker 2: That, knowing what they've done before.

00:31:07
Speaker 4: Freddy Peralta has faced this Dodger team four and two three point twenty nine era in his last and his career starts against the Dodgers. How do you think he fares tonight. I think this is a big opportunity for the Brewers to come through. This is their number one guy. How do you think the Dodgers step up against the guy like Freddy Parolta.

00:31:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think obviously the numbers the par Alta has against the Dodgers are pretty good. I will say that I feel like they see him pretty well. I think even yesterday they only scored the two runs, they probably should have scored six if that ball goes over the fence with Max Muncie earlier in the game. But like they saw the Brewers pretty well, They saw all their top arms pretty well. They hit the ball hard, they had traffick on the bases all but two innings of the nine.

00:31:48
Speaker 1: UH.

00:31:48
Speaker 5: I think the back quality has been was good yesterday and it was as a chance to be good tonight. But Paroltz is obviously a tough guy. If he has UH, if he hasn't an outnywhere he's on me very difficult for the Dodgers. But I do think that this is a guy that I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers how to get out in tonight.

00:32:09
Speaker 1: What was your take on the insane double play and I know, you get to watch ta Oscar Hernandez all year long. I love him as a person. He's a great interview, he's super clutch. Dodger fans love him to death, but he does make these mental gafs somewhat frequently.

00:32:25
Speaker 5: Would you agree, Yeah, I think that's something that even within the Dodgers has been a thing that they've kind of talked about, and that's why they sat him for a couple of games in September where they just needed to kind of lock in. And I don't know if even Yesterda it was necessarily a lock in situation. I think he was one of those. It was such a weird play. It wasn't clear to me in the press box that like he had caught it or that it hit off the wall. I can only imagine for ta Oscar at third base. But I will say, like the Dodgers ran into this sort of similar play in May against the Mets, where I think Hayron Taylor was colliding with Juan Soto. He bobbled the ball, but they knew that as soon as the ball hits glove, you can go that situation where Tayoscar Andaz did go tag up and immediately break when Glove made contact, but clearly he had some sort of brain fart there in that spot, goes back to try to tag up again at third base, and that hesitation really is what cost the Dodgers to run. Obviously, there still would be a double player in that play just because the other guys that were treated to the bases, But the Dodgers definitely should have come out of that spot. But at least one run.

00:33:35
Speaker 1: And all that happens and they still win the game, many thanks to Blake Snell. And everyone thinks it's unfair what the Dodgers do, but they're not the only team that could have signed Blake Snell. First off, any team can sign a pitcher for what in the mid hundreds, what's his current deal? And I know there's a lot of deferrals in there too, but in the middle of five years, five years, one two with deferrals that I think makes it more like in the one fifties or one sixties. First off, any team can do one fifties one sixties on a long term contract. But there are other starters that were signed, and it seems like the Dodgers made the right call on this one, even though he did miss time during the season. He looks like one of the best pitchers on the planet frequently. I mean he's won two cy Young Awards and in big moments. Now in the postseason, he looks like someone who is more efficient, not walking guys and just showing off his stuff. What are you seeing from him? And do you feel like the Dodgers will take on too much of the Oh, they can just buy everyone if they end up winning this series and getting to another World Series. I'll just use the example like Max Frida a great year for the Yankees, but get a clunker in that Toronto series. We haven't seen that from Blake Snell. So Dodgers made the right call so far in the postseason.

00:34:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it was Snell specifically, Like this past offseason he did say he knew right away he kind of wanted to be in LA But that doesn't excuse the previous offseason when he was around and didn't signed to the spring training and he didn't sign with the Dodgers and every team could have signed him and they didn't. But yeah, I think what we're seeing out of Snell is like this is the guy that he always thought he was where he has four incredible pitches that he knows how to use, that he can locate where he wants to. And yes, he has had a history of walking guys. He has had a history of nibbling, and that's part of why he's so successful, his ability to kind of avoid the big swing, and he's really good at that. He's really good at locating pitches an inch or two off the plate and getting guys to swing at them. I think what he's learned and talked about with maturity is all the different ways, all the different hacks he can find to do that and remain efficient. And I think you saw that yesterday where yeah, he was racking up the strikeouts, but he's still I think he was at seventy seven pitches after seven, like after seven innings, actually at six innings, ninety one pitches after seven innings, one hundred and three pitches after eight, Like his pitch count was low enough for Dave Roberts even consider him in the ninth inn And this is a situation where this is the guy who had only pitched into the eighth inning. This was the sixth time that he's crazed on that. But obviously he's clearly shown that development over the course of this season, knowing how to get quick outs when he needs to, and honestly, a team like the Brewers where they make so much contact that kind of played into his favor where he was a little deeper into a start and understand like, I get soft contact if I keep throwing change ups here, and that's basically his recipe to success last night.

00:37:36
Speaker 3: Can you evaluate how Doc Roberts has managed these games, and then I'll and I have a follow up based on what you say.

00:37:44
Speaker 5: I think he's doesn't know what he has back in the bullpen. I think that is influencing a lot. But also he's trying to cling to what he can in that bullpen in hopes that he could find enough pieces to make this group come together. I think he has the developed enough trusts that quickly in Rookie Sasaki that he thought Rookie Staki was the best option than ninth Inning, which you can quibble with that yes or no. But and you could argue that yes, you want Blake Snell to go batter to better at that point, but then that might take Rookie Saki off the table because they've been really cautious. They want him to only come into clean innings, or at least he's only done that so far, so all of a sudden that you're changing your options in case Snell doesn't have it, the ninth inning change a little bit. So I think having a lack of reliable alternatives has kind of forced him into situations that I don't know if he makes these same calls last October. I mean he definitely doesn't if he has last year's bullpen. So you're seeing a different strategy for how he's managed a pitching staff definitely compared to where it was last year.

00:38:50
Speaker 3: So Charlie Manuel used to always say, you know, anytime he get his thousands win or five hundred winning, well, he's a it's because I got good players. Do you feel like he has enough good players in that bullpen that he really isn't gonna make a bad choice and yet he continues to go with the guys that got him the ring that he had before or do you feel like he is able to view what is working and get them out of there soon enough like last night with Rokie.

00:39:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, I do think there's like a balance there. I think one thing he talked a lot about last October going into the last October he's like he's learned that he's gonna go with the guys he trusts, and I think that became very clear last October who he trusted, and Blake Trianon was the top of that list. I think there's something too that where he's going to keep trusting trying in the hottest of spots just because he knows that whether he gets hit or not, like it's not gonna because the moment speeds up on him. But also I think do you think that his ability to trust Roki Saki so quickly is kind of a testament not just like the like where the bullpen is at right now, but also his ability to kind of adapt and just sort of see what is working and what is not and understanding that so that if in cases or maybe like you're trying to you're trying to scramble at some certain points, especially with the three batter minimum, where even if a guy doesn't have it, you're kind of stuck with him in that spot for at least a couple of hitters, especially if you're trying to get someone up, and if it's someone like broke you sock you needs a little bit more time, then all of a sudden. You have made that decision a little bit sooner, so it's definitely a balancing app for him.

00:40:31
