<v Speaker 1>on PC Ago. You could also download it on a
<v Speaker 1>Steam Deck or any kind of handheld computer and emulate
<v Speaker 1>Switch games, and Nintendo went after that. I tried Uzu once.
<v Speaker 1>I tried to emulate Tears of the Kingdom on USU
<v Speaker 1>for a stream idea that I had, and I just
<v Speaker 1>couldn't get it to work. It's well above my pay grade.
<v Speaker 1>I struggle with CMU for the WIU emulator half the time.
<v Speaker 1>So but that's gone now anyway, and so is the
<v Speaker 1>only remaining surviving one, Reujinx. Nintendo apparently offered an agreement
<v Speaker 1>to the developer to stop the project, which sounds like
<v Speaker 1>they paid the mask crazy, which is insane, and I
<v Speaker 1>hope it's true, Like I do hope Reugen's at least
<v Speaker 1>got paid off from this. But that is actually kind
<v Speaker 1>of nuts because it almost like on Nintendo's part is

<v Speaker 1>shutting these things down, and sometimes they shut down things
<v Speaker 1>that like they won't give us so fans try and
<v Speaker 1>make it, and they're like, no, in case we want
<v Speaker 1>to make it someday, No, we're gonna shut that down.

<v Speaker 1>small guy's side, But I do have to see this

<v Speaker 1>the switch, and I give that to you so you
<v Speaker 1>can emulate switch games. Nothing wrong with that. If I
<v Speaker 1>give it to you with the RUMs for Breath of
<v Speaker 1>the Wild, Tis of the Kingdom, Mario Odyssey, Smash Brothers,
<v Speaker 1>and a bunch of other games. Now I'm sharing you
<v Speaker 1>RUMs that you haven't paid for that you don't have
<v Speaker 1>the license too. So I'm just distributing games that I
<v Speaker 1>don't have the right to distribute. That's where it gets illegal.
<v Speaker 1>So where people have an issue is Nintendo shutting down
<v Speaker 1>an emulator. There's nothing technically wrong with an emulator, But
<v Speaker 1>what is the number one use case for an emulator?
<v Speaker 1>Play games? It's to play games, yeah, and more often
<v Speaker 1>than not nine percent of the time is to pirate games.
<v Speaker 1>It's to steal games, just to download games. It's to
<v Speaker 1>run games on software that is Nintendo software. It's circumventing
<v Speaker 1>needing to hey Nintendo for anything, a switch, a video game,
<v Speaker 1>or anything like that. So Nintendo is a company looking
<v Speaker 1>to make money, obviously having a product out there on
<v Speaker 1>the market that can void and null everything they're doing.
<v Speaker 1>And not just them, but you think about third party
<v Speaker 1>developers that are thinking of you know, developing a game
<v Speaker 1>for a console, they can look at Switch and be like, well,
<v Speaker 1>someone can just pirate our game because reug Inks is
<v Speaker 1>up available, or we can make a game for PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>where people have a much harder time trying to pirate that.
<v Speaker 1>So I think it's a Nintendo's best interest to try
<v Speaker 1>and get rid of these and I don't really blame
<v Speaker 1>them for doing so, especially if they're doing it behind
<v Speaker 1>closed doors with an agreement. Well they're assuming, yeah, or
<v Speaker 1>they gave them a bunch of you know, merch. They
<v Speaker 1>gave them a bunch of those stub big stuffed pillows
<v Speaker 1>from the Nintendo store. Yeah, you can go to the
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Store free of charge and pick anything you want
<v Speaker 1>from the gift shop. Just close down reins. I would

<v Speaker 1>from a previous generation. If there isn't a way of
<v Speaker 1>buying the game new and that money going into the
<v Speaker 1>developers' pockets or the publisher or the licensees pockets, then
<v Speaker 1>what's the harm? You know, morally, what's the harm of
<v Speaker 1>me downloading an NES or SNATT emulator and then just
<v Speaker 1>the entire NES library and slapping it on there. It's
<v Speaker 1>all technically illegal. I mean, technically I shouldn't be doing that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>But who's it hurting? Which is why I'm kind of like,
<v Speaker 1>come get me, you know. But when it comes to
<v Speaker 1>the switch, as Ham said, people are actively developing, actively
<v Speaker 1>making these games, actively selling these games, and then you

<v Speaker 1>all these cases, and you could just dispute legality and
<v Speaker 1>all of that, but I just feel like it's obvious.
<v Speaker 1>If your product is aiming to recreating something that a
<v Speaker 1>company is currently selling in a form factor that gives
<v Speaker 1>it to people for free, and they use it for theft,
<v Speaker 1>whether or not that's your intended purpose or not, you're
<v Speaker 1>they using it for theft, and Nintendo is in their
<v Speaker 1>best interest going to shut it down, best interest for them,
<v Speaker 1>best interest for their third party developers and people that
<v Speaker 1>want to support the Switch. I just you know, I'm
<v Speaker 1>surprised use you and Reuging so whatever lasted as long
<v Speaker 1>as they did. I mean, we're pretty much at the
<v Speaker 1>end of Switch at this point, and they've been here
<v Speaker 1>for a majority of it. Until the end. Emulation isn't piracy,
<v Speaker 1>So okay, let's talk about that. Emulation isn't piracy. It
<v Speaker 1>can be. For one, that's not a blanket true statement.
<v Speaker 1>You can do it legally. For example, I recently got
<v Speaker 1>a MiG switch in the mail, and what that allows
<v Speaker 1>me to do is take my switch games, my physical
<v Speaker 1>switch games. I have to have the physical game put
<v Speaker 1>it in the dumper. It's called a dumper, and then
<v Speaker 1>I can take the files off the car and I
<v Speaker 1>can put it onto my MiG switch cart and I
<v Speaker 1>can stack a bunch of games onto it, essentially creating
<v Speaker 1>an R four card for the DS, and then I
<v Speaker 1>can put that in my switch and I can play
<v Speaker 1>on my games. Now that's legal emulation or legal even
<v Speaker 1>if I was to take those same files that I
<v Speaker 1>don't and run them through Reuje inks I'm still legally
<v Speaker 1>emulating the game because it's my game, it's my serial number.
<v Speaker 1>Every game has a specific serial number, and I'm just
<v Speaker 1>playing the serial number that I bought the lysn to play.
<v Speaker 1>But how many people do that? How many people have
<v Speaker 1>the dumper? How many people are looking at just taking
<v Speaker 1>their game and playing it somewhere else when they already
<v Speaker 1>have the game. It's such a niche case. And I
<v Speaker 1>know some people utilize that, but ninety nine percent of people,
<v Speaker 1>let's be serious, it's not the majority downloading, trading, swapping, sharing,
<v Speaker 1>not doing that. They're just emulating games they haven't bought,
<v Speaker 1>and that is illegal. That is illegal. But then the whole.

<v Speaker 4>like emulation is fine when it's done the right way.
<v Speaker 4>Piracy is what's illegal. Yes, right, that's the whole thing.

<v Speaker 1>echo things and you clone things. And I think you
<v Speaker 1>know when you shift development like that, but in general,
<v Speaker 1>you just take something in a different direction and it's
<v Speaker 1>not made by the people that have always made Zelder games.
<v Speaker 1>And Zelder games usually have these really tight level designs
<v Speaker 1>and paths and layouts, and now all of a sudden,
<v Speaker 1>someone else is trying to replicate it. You can tell
<v Speaker 1>it feels different, like with Minish cap how you can
<v Speaker 1>tell it feels different. You can tell Nintendo didn't make
<v Speaker 1>it just by playing all the others over. It doesn't
<v Speaker 1>necessarily make it bad. No, it's solid. Yeah, I like it.
