Speaker 1: Welcome everyone. It is the Local Toyota Dealers KSR postgame Show Kentucky. Well, let's just go ahead and say it. Best team in the country seventy eight to sixty five with a win at home tonight in a preseason game that I would suggest is probably the most hyped Kentucky fans have ever been for a preseason game. This is the Local Toyota Dealers KSR postgame Show. I met Jones. It was you know, a lot of people are gonna look at this result, especially non UK fans and even some sort of down in the dumps or Debbie down or UK fans, and they're gonna say, oh, don't don't overreact. It's a preseason game, et cetera, et cetera. I say, foully to all that, let me overreact for one night. After tonight. We can all take a break, mate, but let's let's give ourselves tonight, and let's give ourselves through the weekend in Monday, and then we'll stop. Then then we'll slow down. But for tonight, let me give you some numbers. The number one team in the country just came into your arena. Not just the number one team, a team that's been consistently good for a number of years, has a returning lineup where four of the five people starting our guys that were on the team last year on a good team last season. I believe they were what were they have sweet sixteen team last year. They have the returning preseason National Player of the Year playing point guard, and their experience mostly juniors and seniors. Kentucky was without what I would say is the second best player on the team. We may have to adjust that over the course of the year, but Jalen Lowe, and without the number one ranked NBA prospect on the team in Jaden Quaintans, the preseason All American on the team, played seventeen minutes and is coming off an injury. Played the sixth most minutes in the game of any UK player. And with all of that happening, Kentucky dominated the game, won by double digits, and by any eye test that you watched, was clearly the better team, more athletic, better rebounding, more explosive, shot the ball better.

00:02:25
Speaker 2: Now.

00:02:25
Speaker 1: I don't know if that would be true in every game this year, but tonight they did. And defensively, even though I think Kentucky, especially in the second half, had some defensive lapses, significantly better defensively. All in all, I don't know how you couldn't be excited. I'm not sure you could have drawn that game up better. From a Kentucky standpoint, seventy eight to sixty five, I'm thrilled. I mean, we needed, after what's been going on in football, to have excitement around this fan base, and we had. You saw it at the arena pretty much full, loud, people into it, louder than most regular season games. I can tell you at my bar, the people were doing Mark Pope chants. It was full during the game and excitement. That's their only occasion in regular season games period. This city was lit up for this game, and Kentucky delivered. And you see when you listen to the Mark Pope after the game, you see the confidence he has in this group. You know, not only did we win, we played ten guys and we played them a lot. I'm gonna go through here because I honestly think everyone that played needs a mention. I'll start with otega Oway. He was big early on, scored seven of the first I think fourteen points. He finishes with ten points. He only played seventeen minutes. Of all the players on the team, the person you're the worried the least about his own way because you saw him do it last year. Denzel Aberdeen led the team in minutes twenty nine. He led the team in plus minus with plus fourteen. He was great. This is our backup point guard. Okay, when Jalen Low comes back, I don't know if he'll start or not. He might. I Drew thinks he will. We'll see. But tonight he had to play twenty nine minutes, and I thought he was great. He I thought controlled the offense well, played really good defense. He and all the various people that were on Braden Smith throughout the game, I thought did an excellent job. He did as well. He had nine points, Trent Noah ten points, He had one banked in three. But I thought I was surprised he started to be honest with you. I thought he handled himself really well, played good defense on his guy. Brandon Garrison was your regular Brandon Garrison all over the place. However, defensively, actually thought he was pretty good. He had some foul issues, but otherwise good diabate is exactly what you want from a senior. You bring in to play that position. He controlled the glass nine rebounds and by the way, Kentucky as a whole controlled the glass. I mean that is Purdue is a really good rebounding team. I mean they're very tall. They played two bigs most of the game. They should have kind of killed Kentucky on the class and honestly, until the very end of the game, I thought Kentucky completely controlled the glass. As a matter of fact, we had more offensive rebounds than they did, ten to seven. If you had told me that before the game, with the lineup they put on the pull floor, I would have never imagined that was true. I think Diabote was a big piece of that. The two guys that stood out to most to me as like the wow are the two freshmen. Jasper Johnson led the team in scoring fifteen points, six of ten from the field, three of seven from three point line, and really a lot of wow plays. I mean it seems like he played more. He only played nineteen minutes. He had fifteen points in nineteen minutes and took his man. If I'm Purdue and you sit there and you sort of say, what do I look at that game, I'd look at how you had no chance of stopping Jasper Johnson off the bounce. He completely dominated whoever they put on him. I thought he was excellent. But the story of the game to me is Malachi Moreno, because I have to tell you I saw that kid play when he's a junior in high school in the state semifinals here in rupp Aerna, and I thought to myself, Yeah, I don't know how that's gonna play at Kentucky. You know, I knew I knew his brother when his brother played there, and I just thought, look, Malchi obviously got a lot of potential. I don't know how he plays at Kentucky. I'm kind of surprised he's ranked that high. Well, clearly that's what the scouts see that sometimes we as fans do not, cause he has improved exponentially in the last eighteen months. But he was great tonight and he has all the potential in the world. Matt Painter was saying after the game, Purdue recruited him hard may have been the second choice, and you could see how he could play at Perdue. He kind of plays their style. And he said that kid is a great kid with a ton of talent. The sky's the limit for him, and it's gonna be hard to keep him off the floor. If I was Brandon Garrison, I would say, hey, man, stay out of foul trouble and work hard because you got a dude sitting behind you who, if you're not careful, will steal a lot of your minutes. So for me, the two Kentucky kids that are freshmen were the stories of the game. Yellovich thought played really really well. He had twenty minutes. He was much better on defense than I would have thought. I kind of thought defensive he would be a defensive liability. Maybe some of that is me just sort of thinking about the weaknesses Z had and then imputing them on him. But he actually played really well defensively, slid his feet. I was impressed. He's gonna get playing time. Colin Chandler only had two points, but Mark Pope said he was the MVP, said he did all the little things. Pope probably watches that stuff more than I do. He did have the highlight of the game, Billy that dunk he almost did. I'm not saying it was dirt minifield, okay, but he did do that thing where it looked like he wasn't gonna rise anymore, and then right at the last second seemed to rise again. You know what I'm talking about him that dunk thing or did you watch it? You have to listen to radio feed. Do you see it?

00:08:34
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:08:34
Speaker 3: I saw it.

00:08:35
Speaker 1: That dunk was very very impressive to me, like very impressive. And then Cam Williams. You know, I think when Jalen Lope comes back, I think Cam Williams is gonna be spotty. I liked what Jim Jimmy Dyke said, which is there's gonna be three or four games next year or this year where we're really gonna need Cam Williams. And that's what I'm gonna judge. He two for six from three. My issue is not shooting with him. I think he'll shoot the ball fine. He struggles on defense, and he struggled on defense a lot in the game. But when Jay Low comes, he might be You're eleventh man. So if you're eleventh man is a guy that's on NBA draft boards, then you're gonna be pretty good. So my takeaway from all this we are we are good, and we have a chance to be really really good. This team can be great defensively if they rebound like they did tonight. That's even more exciting. And then offensively, the sky's a limit. I mean, I know they scored seventy eight. I think they can be more efficient offensively than they even were tonight. They were nine for twenty nine from three point lane. That percentage I think will be higher in a lot of games. And you don't have your point guard, that's a big thing. You didn't have your point guard. If you have your point guard, I think a lot of that stuff is different. So I may sound excited in my voice. That's because I am excited. I love Kentucky basketball, but I also love when the product kind of represents the fan base and the state. And to that point, it hit me towards the end of the game. You know, Purdue made a run. I think they cut it to maybe five or six, and then all of a sudden, we pushed it out to fourteen. Trent Noah I think hit a three, Jasper Johnson hit a three, Malachi made an a one. And it occurred to me that against the number one team in the country, a team that's got a chance to play, you know, for a national championship, a team that two years ago was in the championship game, Kentucky put it away with three Kentucky kids on the floor. I'm always one who says, hey, I love Kentucky kids, but we need to have the best players. But when you can have the best players and then they are from Kentucky and two of them are freshmen, one of them is a sophomore, and you're able to get the performance you did to win a game like this, I don't know how you can't be thrilled about that. That's that's what this whole thing is about. So, yes, this doesn't mean the team's going to be great. A couple of years ago, Purdue lost to Arkansas in a game Arkansas didn't even make the tournament perdue went the national championship game. So this doesn't mean anything in the big picture. But in the short term picture, we are really good. We are really fun, and this is going to be a really exciting year. And maybe most importantly, this is a group of players that, if everything goes right, can have a shot to win the whole thing. I loved the team last year. I thought they were a team that had a sh shot to do something exciting if they got some breaks. But I don't think I ever thought they could win the national championship. I certainly haven't thought that in the last You probably have to go back for me to the team that lost to Auburn in the Elite eight. I believe that was twenty nineteen, the Tyler Hero Kilden Johnson team. That's probably the last time that I thought, you know what, things go great, this team could have a shot to win it all. I think that's true about this team. Now, we'll see what happens. They're gonna have to play better than they did tonight, and they're gonna have to do a lot of stuff. Well, but you have a team now that's gonna be in that conversation, and that's really exciting. AF. I'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven. We're gonna take your calls. This should be a fun night. Kat's first game on the floor. Look off, beat the number one team in the country. How can you not be happy? We'll be right back. It is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Welcome back, Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show. Louisville has a big preseason game in their arena tonight too. They are playing Kansas Kansas is ranked nineteenth. Kansas is up thirteen on Louisville fifty nine forty six Darren Peterson. This was supposed to be a big matchup against two guys who have dreams of being the number one overall pick, Darren Peterson and Michel Is it Mike mckel or Michael the guy from Louisville? Thinkuess michel'son Michel Brown at halftime? I don't know what it is right now. At halftime, Darren Peterson had twenty four and Mickel Brown had zero and MIKEL Brown was zero for seven, So I think the early advantage goes to Darren Peterson, who looks to be like Kansas may not be good, but he is gonna be really really good. By the way, if you hear tittering in the background, Billy Tall and Hubby are here. We've been going all day at Kiemlin and uh and they went to the game. So if you hear, if you hear umbiance in the background, that's who that is.

00:14:11
Speaker 3: You went any money today?

00:14:13
Speaker 1: Did I win money?

00:14:14
Speaker 4: No?

00:14:14
Speaker 1: I did horribly. I wore the cowboy hat and while it gave good luck to the basketball team, it did not give good luck, to the U, to the gaming one person rights. Matt, I need you to give me your unrealistic right now record prediction for the year. Okay, So I think I said. I think I said something like what twenty four and seven or something before? All right, I needed let's assume Jalen Lowe's back for game two, and let's assume we get Jaden quaintance by conference play. If you give me that set of parameters, now, I'm going after tonight, Billy twenty twenty six in a one seed. That's what I'm going. So Hobby says forty and oh, Billy, what are you going now?

00:15:07
Speaker 3: I think it's closer to what you're saying. Four or five losses, probably.

00:15:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they're better than I thought. I do. And the reason I think they're better than I thought is I think there's a couple of dudes that are that are that. I think Malcolm Moreno's better than I thought. I think Jasper Johnson's gonna have some inconsistencies, but he's gonna have some games where he is unstoppable. And then you know, if this team could look like that, and Colin Chandler could have two points and Otega away can play seventeen minutes and Jalen Lowe's not in the game, then like sky's the limit? All right, who's up first, Josh, Josh? Go ahead, Josh?

00:15:46
Speaker 5: Well, how I'm doing?

00:15:47
Speaker 1: Mate?

00:15:48
Speaker 2: All right?

00:15:48
Speaker 6: If we would have been healthy to not do you believe it would have been a blowout, just blow them out?

00:15:53
Speaker 1: I think it had been the same, Well, I ain't been probably a similar result. I mean, you gotta I mean you look at the minutes. Pope played pretty much everybody except Aberdeen equal minutes, which was clearly what he wanted to do. So my guess is if low plays, he does the same, and then Low plays twenty minutes and Aberdeen plays twenty minutes, and so you probably get a similar result.

00:16:16
Speaker 7: I'm alrighty, well, well, I'm really happy, and I hope we do beat Tennessee tomorrow in football. I don't see it happening, but I hope we did.

00:16:24
Speaker 1: I hope we do. Too. Appreciate the call, Yeah, somebody reminded me and then I tweeted it out. Billy. It was four years ago this game when we played Kentucky State that John cal Perry asked Kentucky State to not play zone Oh yeah, do you remember that? Yes, he said, we haven't worked on it. So I'm going to ask you not to play zone, which in hindsight is one of the weaker things I think a Kentucky coach has ever done. Come along, right, Yeah to Kentucky State, by the way, not to you know, not to produce tonight. I mean, besides, the top three guys, Perdue kind of distributed its minutes, but they left their top three in over thirty minutes each. That so few hear Produe people say, wow, we didn't play. We played more guys more minutes than they did. Who's next, Tyler, Tyler, go ahead, Tyler, I'm.

00:17:23
Speaker 8: The second one. I'm glad you brought up Cal because one of my talking points of the two that I have is about him. But not And keep in mind when I say this, I'm twenty four years old. When I think of Kentucky basketball, Matt is still so weird for me to think that Cal isn't here anymore.

00:17:43
Speaker 1: I understand that because you're twenty four, right, So like your people's fandom is formed strongest I think in their like middle school, high school years, and you had Cal that whole time.

00:17:54
Speaker 8: Oh yeah, my first memories of UK basketball or John Wall So anyway, and then my second point is, so I think it's to.

00:18:04
Speaker 2: Watch the game to night.

00:18:05
Speaker 8: I listened to it and heard the crowd, Tom and Jack were getting into it, and I'm thinking, man, you know, I'm a pretty pretty realistic fan and thinking, man, we're going for you know. And then I realized that the final four is in Indianapolish and Indy, as we all know, hasn't been kind to us. So I'm like, is this the revenge tour?

00:18:29
Speaker 2: Like?

00:18:29
Speaker 8: Does this revenge? Does this revenge twenty fifteen? Last year? Like I'm like, it kind of destroyed me because I'm like, Indy is like the worst place for Kentucky basketball. But then I'm like, huh, maybe we make that twenty fifteen loss in last year's loss kind of go away.

00:18:49
Speaker 1: Anyway. Yeah, I mean, that's it's something to think about. They're going to have it, Nandy Billy look up for me. I always care less about where the final four is because if you make Final four, I oh, that really good kid for Louisville just went down. I hope he's all right. Yeah, he just went down. Hopefully it's hope looks looks he's walkins, so hopefully he's all right. I always care a little less about where the final four is then where the regionals are, because if you can get I've always thought it's important that looks like he just turned his ancle. If you can get a one seed and the regional is like in your backyard, that makes a big impact. Do you will you look up where the regionals are? Where is it from?

00:19:34
Speaker 3: Houston? San Jose, Chicago, and Washington, DC?

00:19:39
Speaker 1: Okay, so, I mean Chicago's relatively close, but none of those are. It's not like when it's in Louisville or one of those. Where where's the Does you see where the first eight ones are? The first and second round?

00:19:50
Speaker 3: Yeah? Greenville, Oklahoma City, Portland, Tampa, Philly, San Diego's Saint Louis.

00:19:59
Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, none of them, none of them. We don't have one in our backyard. I guess Saint Louis would be the one that would be the uh, the closest. He if I'm nine two eight, twenty two eighty seven, who's next, Parker, Parker, go ahead.

00:20:10
Speaker 9: Parker, Hey, Matt, So, I'm a senior at UK right now. I went to the game I'm actually driving home for a fall break, and I'm just grinning ear to ear. I'm reminiscing about all the little plays, and I could talk about it for a while. But what you said that I love is just give me one night.

00:20:27
Speaker 2: To be delusional.

00:20:28
Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm able to be delusional.

00:20:31
Speaker 9: I haven't been able to be delusional about Kentucky basketball since like middle school. Man, So I'm just happy. I'm just happy to be happy about something. Kentucky basketball. Man, it's so awesome. The defense was great. College handler is the man. Jasper is Rob Delikhan.

00:20:48
Speaker 1: I love it.

00:20:49
Speaker 9: Go catch and go big Blue.

00:20:50
Speaker 2: Thank you, Matt.

00:20:51
Speaker 1: Be delusional, Tonight's a good night to be delusional, and I totally agree with you. There's no reason to uh, there's no reason to not be delusional. The Jasper Rob Dealingham thing, I think is actually a really good analogy, because Rob Dealingham could have moments where he like took your breath away in a way that a lot of players just don't like. Just an excitement and uh, you know, just a thrill that you don't get a lot, and Jasper's gonna have. Jasper has some of that too, and Rob could get hot and Jasper I think can get hot. You know, Rob could also do crazy things. I think we're gonna see Jasper has some games where he does crazy things I do. But yeah, I think the jazz him Jasper being a lefty dealing ham is a pretty good call. And I tell you, I love our defense. You know, last year we just didn't have the athletes to have a good defense. We just didn't and there wasn't gonna be anything we could do about it. And I loved that team last year. That team last year is gonna be end up being one of my favorites because I just liked him. I just liked the kids, and they got to Sweet sixteen. I think they maximize their talent. But man, this team is so much more athletic and like you can just see it. And and it overwhelmed Perdue. And they always have that problem when they get the tournament. Billy Purdue always meets a team like this and it screws them over, you know, always, And and we were that team this year in the in the preseason. It'll be interesting to see if they're able to fix that, uh during the course of the year. And Kansas is just putting it on Louis right now, who's next, James, James, go ahead, James.

00:22:29
Speaker 6: Hey Man, thanks shaking my call.

00:22:31
Speaker 2: Oh.

00:22:32
Speaker 11: I like what you said earlier that.

00:22:34
Speaker 7: We're the best team in the country.

00:22:36
Speaker 1: Well, if there were number one, If they're number one, then why not. I know it's exhibition. Old miss beat number two Houston in an exhibition. Like the thing is I understand, I understand. Jimmy Dott said, Well, Purdue chose Purdue didn't scout. Well, they chose not to scout, right, that's their choice. But you know what, that's not an excuse. You don't get to say, well, I didn't study for the task, so it doesn't count. No, you still take the text and if you choose not to stay or then that's on you. I don't think it would have made any difference. What were they gonna study. Most of our dudes weren't here last year. As far as Purdue, they played their three. They have three really really good players, really good and they played all three of them thirty minutes a game. One of them had a bad game, so be it. Bradon Lewis missed a lot of shots. Well we probably had something to do with that, right, So I'm not. I'm not taking the excuses from Purdue, folks. If they were number one, then I'm gonna in my mind say we're number one now.

00:23:34
Speaker 6: So what I was gonna say is I just told my cousin I just was the number one team in the country beat the number one team.

00:23:41
Speaker 12: In the country.

00:23:43
Speaker 1: Why not? Why not?

00:23:45
Speaker 2: Right?

00:23:45
Speaker 1: Why not?

00:23:45
Speaker 6: Exactly?

00:23:46
Speaker 1: We're not. We can be unrealistic tonight. We'll have real conversation next week, but tonight we can be unrealistic. Appreciate it. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, Bill, you haven't said a lot do you feel? Are you? Are you un realistic about this? Well?

00:24:01
Speaker 3: I had a lot of question marks about this team, and a lot of those were answered. I mean, Modiabate was incredible, Jass Johnson was somebody that can play a ton of minutes this year. I mean, I'm just more thinking of what this team is gonna look like. Who's gonna be on the outside looking in when Quainton's comes back and Jalen Lowe is here.

00:24:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, if you were to do the okay, my expectations versus what we saw in one game, there were two guys three guys, if you throw in Jasper Johnson, although I knew he could have moments of greatness, but how good Malachi, Marino and Yellovich played really surprised me. I knew Malachi had at any but I just thought he was he as refreshman whatever. Yellovich, I don't know. I wasn't sure how much he was gonna play. Well. Now again, this is a team that he probably matches up pretty well. There's a lot of Yellowvich's in that game. To be honest with you, but I like, I liked him a lot tonight and he didn't. And on offense he didn't particular shoot the ball very well. I think he'll do better at that. And remember o take away and we played seventeen minutes like he like, he only played our best our preseason All American played seventeen minutes.

00:25:12
Speaker 3: Goose and Tom were fawning over the stat that in the first half eleven assists on fourteen made basketball. That's great, that's great without that is our rank point guard.

00:25:21
Speaker 1: So again, we shoot under thirty three percent from three, probably under thirty percent. Would we shoot like twenty nine? Is that what that number is? Twenty nine to thirty something? Like that from from three point land. You know that's I don't know, man, there's a lot you left on the table. We fouled a lot. I think we gave them. How many free throws did they have? I think they had like twenty two free throws or something like that.

00:25:47
Speaker 3: They had eighteen of twenty two.

00:25:49
Speaker 1: Eighteen of twenty two. So think about that. They scored sixty five and we gave him eighteen on free throws. We fouled them a lot. So I don't know. I'm sure there's something to be bad. I guess the one thing you could say is what we found a lot. That's a negative. But otherwise I don't know what you could really complain about. What's next?

00:26:09
Speaker 3: Stub stub?

00:26:10
Speaker 1: How are you? Stub?

00:26:14
Speaker 7: Or hanging number nine?

00:26:15
Speaker 13: Man?

00:26:17
Speaker 1: I like it.

00:26:19
Speaker 7: I don't know what you can take from this game. I know it's a too early of an assessment, but they're really good. They're long and athletic. If I had one criticism, I don't think this team needs to shoot so many.

00:26:37
Speaker 2: Three so early in the shot clock.

00:26:39
Speaker 7: That's the only thing. They're long and athletic and good enough.

00:26:43
Speaker 2: They don't need to do that.

00:26:45
Speaker 1: I don't I don't think that's I don't think that's a bad I don't think that's a bad analysis. I will say, you know, we play in the SEC, where the strength of the teams in that conference is athleticism, right, so I think we were a lot more athletic than Purdue. We're probably gonna play some teams this year, sir, in the SEC, like, we're not gonna have that athleticism advantage against them a lot. Now they probably Purdue probably executes better than most teams in the SEC do, but I don't think we're gonna be able to just take guys off the bounce like we were doing sometimes tonight.

00:27:21
Speaker 7: Well, Jimmy Dykes and I think accurately described Perdue in a very nice way. He said, they're they're slow twitch.

00:27:30
Speaker 1: They are slow twitched. They are You're exactly right, And I think it they always get hurt every year. Like the fact they're so methodical allows them to beat bad teams. But when they play good teams that are athletic, I feel like they run into this every single year. I appreciate the come Yeah, that's all they really. I do feel like this is I don't want to you know, it's one game for Purdue, but I do. And they were on the road, which is part of it. But I do feel like Purdue runs into this every year. You play, you play the way they play, and you get the personnel they have, and there this happens. I will say that Bradon Lewis kid's really good. He didn't shoot the ball well tonight. He's so smart. It seems like he always makes the right decision. He's athletic, he's really good. I don't know if he'll be National Player of the Year, but he's got a real show.

00:28:21
Speaker 3: I was Tom and Jimmy tonight.

00:28:24
Speaker 1: I love Tom and Jimmy. You know Tom Hart and Jimmy Dykes. He can annoy you with like his playing and all that stuff. But there's no announcer in the country that does college games that knows more about Kentucky and their team than Jimmy Dikes. So I like that. And if you listen, he says stuff that we've not heard about how they play, Like when he talked about Cam Williams, he said publicly what I've had some coaches tell me privately, which is they're really worried about his ability to guard people. Well, Jimmy said that, and he said it because he knows it because they told him. And then Tom's awesome. He had Billy had a couple of KSR references. I heard. He mentioned Picasso, mentioned Ken Palmroy the singer. Okay, I kept waiting for Annabelle or for riding or eating alone because I thought that might come. But we didn't get that one. Maybe that'll be the next game. Let's do one more and we'll take a break.

00:29:21
Speaker 3: Who's that Dylan?

00:29:22
Speaker 1: Dylan? Go ahead, Dylan, what's up? Mapp?

00:29:26
Speaker 14: Some color here?

00:29:28
Speaker 1: Who else?

00:29:29
Speaker 2: Uh?

00:29:30
Speaker 14: So, I got a question and a thought for you. Well, I'll start off with my with my thought after watching tonight's game, you know, it's just we're so athletic. You know that that's so apparent within the first two minutes. You can just see it physically at every position, and it's just so refreshing to be able to see at all five spots that you know had to head. Our guy is better than your guy, or we're at least competitive. It seems like in past years we're always probably going to give up something, whether it be on offensively or defensively. We've got a guy who's better at offense. But we're having to give up something defensively, So that's just so refreshing and I'm excited about that. My question though, here, I just want to do your thoughts. So how do you think Mark Pope is going to be able to manage all this talent? I mean you just you take in consideration a Quaintance and Jayleen Lo two of our best in my opinion, three players without tonight, So it's a hard question.

00:30:30
Speaker 1: There's gonna be dudes who don't play right, like there's gonna be dudes who don't play so in particular games I think. I mean, this team is essentially when when you get Acquaintance and a low back, you got twelve guys who will expect to get minutes. And I think it's just inevitable that at least two of those guys are not playing in games or only playing a couple of minutes. So it's gonna be I think a constant fight when you get past low oh way, I mean Diabate, Aberdeen and Garrison, because I think those five dudes will play no matter what. Garrison, now, his minutes can go down, but he'll play. But those other seven guys are gonna have to fight, and there may be games where like a dude like Cam Williams plays twenty five minutes, and then there might be a game where he plays two minutes. I think that's gonna happen, and so Pope will have to be careful. You know, I don't know how many Kentucky teams have had it to where there's this many guys who will really expect to play. I mean, you know, the twenty fifteen team, the platoon team, it was still only ten, right, you know, this is twelve, So it'll be interesting to see. I appreciate the call. I mean, it's a good problem to have though, because you'll get injuries billion stuff during the year, and so now you got a lot of guys.

00:32:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, there was a lot last year, so it can always change.

00:32:05
Speaker 1: But I mean, if I had the guest today of those twelve, it's I mean, I don't I think it could change game to game. My initial in question would be Cam, but it's hard to see him not playing Yellovich if he plays like tonight, So I don't know. I think it'll be And how about Tritton Noah starting, I didn't see that coming. Uh, I thought he did really well. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We will take a break and be right back. This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Welcome back. It is Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Billy. I think you have what is it the Johnny Rocker what? Yeah?

00:32:44
Speaker 3: So post games for the basketball season where we have the Johnny Rockers role player of the game injured, get small town compassion with big city results. When you call the Rocker at two seven oh three two one four four two nine tonight, Matt, I'm going with Mo dia Bonte. Point nine rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and a slam at the end of the game. He was good on defense. He was great rebounding despite the early foul trouble. He's our Johnny Rocker role player of the game.

00:33:12
Speaker 1: All right, I'll accept that, But like, are starters allowed to be role players?

00:33:19
Speaker 3: I just figured it was not the MVP of the game. That's the really the only I'm okay with that person. We don't know who would you have picked as our MVP? Uh, Jasper?

00:33:28
Speaker 1: I think it probably has to be Jasper. Yeah, he was great, which is crazy, Uh, because I wouldn't have thought that it's Braiden Smith. By the way, I get it, it's not Braidon Lewis. Yeah, everybody's got to give people a break to, you know, say mistaken worry. Everybody was getting on tom Or of Jimmy Jack's for saying Trevor Noah. He knew it was Trenton Noah, but Trevor Noah was a famous person. Noah also starts with tea that can happen, right, Billy.

00:33:54
Speaker 3: Oh, believe me, I know better than anybody. I got ryanisms as me too.

00:33:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, Trevor Noah. I just listened to his book a few weeks ago. I've probably come close to calling him Trevor Noah.

00:34:04
Speaker 3: So doing the Daily Show.

00:34:07
Speaker 1: I don't think he does the Daily Show anymore now. I think he's done it in years. Actually, yeah, I don't think he's done it in like four or five years. But nevertheless, Yeah, So, all right, who's up next?

00:34:17
Speaker 3: Josh is next?

00:34:18
Speaker 1: Josh? I got a question for you, Billy. Yeah, the MLS Eastern Conference playoffs are going on. I will give you twenty dollars if you could name both teams in.

00:34:28
Speaker 3: It, into Miami and Nashville.

00:34:35
Speaker 1: You looked it up. You looked it up. You're not getting You're not getting the twenty yards.

00:34:39
Speaker 3: I didn't look at anything up.

00:34:40
Speaker 1: You looked it up. You're cheating.

00:34:41
Speaker 3: I saw a graphic earlier in the day.

00:34:43
Speaker 1: I knew it. I'm glad you're being on It's all right. Go ahead, Josh is up, Josh, go ahead?

00:34:48
Speaker 2: John what I'm att Listen? What about that boiler.

00:34:52
Speaker 15: Meus guy on Twitter being an absolute goober being like, oh, this is personal, Like, what are you talking about, dude? Like, we don't think about Purdue ever.

00:35:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think anybody does really, Probably only Indiana fans really think of Yeah, it's weird because you know, Purdue has been a power for the last five years. You could argue, next to Yukon and maybe Houston the most consistently good team. But I never think about them as one, honestly, Yeah for real.

00:35:20
Speaker 15: But yeah, other than that, I'm gonna eat like three Papa John's pizzas and tonight in honor of Yellow Bitch, So good night, you go ket appreciate it.

00:35:27
Speaker 1: And how about uh? I mean Louis's down fifteen Michel Brown one of thirteen in his first game. It's one game, but that's it's not good in a game. I know he was hyped up about because of the playing against Darren Peterson. Darren Peterson, by the way, twenty four points in the first half, two in the second half. It's crazy how that goes. There's Shaq Vaughan.

00:35:51
Speaker 3: There's a guy happenin guard you.

00:35:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, who's next?

00:35:54
Speaker 3: Avery is next?

00:35:55
Speaker 1: Avery his point guard?

00:35:57
Speaker 16: You?

00:35:57
Speaker 1: Avery? Go ahead?

00:36:00
Speaker 17: Hell, first time caller?

00:36:02
Speaker 1: Who are.

00:36:04
Speaker 17: I just wanted to say that my favorite play was when Jasper Johnson had the crazy dunk and me and my dad went nuts.

00:36:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, Jasper, he's really athletic. Now is he your favorite player? Yeah?

00:36:25
Speaker 17: Yeah, all right.

00:36:27
Speaker 1: See, I appreciate the call. I think you're gonna get that from kids the same way that Dillingham kind of had that thing where Dillingham was every kid's favorite player. Even on a team with Reed Shepherd, kids still were like Rob Dillingham. I think Jasper Johnson has the same thing. Then you throw in he's got a TikTok presence, that whole six to seven thing that he was a part of. I think you're gonna see. I think Jasper Johnson is gonna be little kids are gonna be big time Jasper Johnson things. And I love that he's a kid from Kentucky. I mean, I continue to say, the fact that we have three kids from Kentucky on the team and we don't have to like force him to play like they really deserve to play is awesome. Who's next, Lucas, Lucas, go ahead, Lucas.

00:37:14
Speaker 16: Hey, Matt.

00:37:15
Speaker 18: I am so pumped about this team this season. I think we're gonna have such a great year and I think we can make a big run in the tournament. Quick question for you here, though, how do you think Jane Quayton's Do you think he'll have a big impact come in later in the season.

00:37:30
Speaker 1: Yes, I do. I mean he's too good, He's too Atlantic and too he's too good. I think his impact is I mean, he'll be a great defensive player. But you know, I mean, like I think he was what third team or something preseason all sec. I don't know if he'll be that, in part because I don't know that he needs to be that. I don't know that he's gonna need to get those kind of minutes, you know what I mean. Like, I but I do think here's where he's gonna be really important. He's gonna be able to guard guys that really no one else on our team can, and he's gonna be able to do some stuff athletically, and more importantly, he's gonna provide matchup issues, like like imagine anyone on Purdue trying to guard him, you know what I mean, Like who's guarding Nobody's guarding, right, So that's the thing. And a dude built like him, he will just there'll be a game or two where like the other team just won't have a guy who can handle him, and that'll be the difference in the game. So I appreciate to call. I think that's where he'll make a big impact. But like the good thing is, you know, if these bigs, if Malachi Moreno is as good as he's been so far, like you know, he what if Malachai Moreno can be seventy five percent of Jake and Queint's, well, that's pretty good.

00:38:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the surprise of the night.

00:39:00
Speaker 1: Honestly, Malachai and I was surprised how well how good they look playing two bigs a lot because they got so many bigs with these guys that you want to play too, because you've got, you're gonna have Garrison Moreno Yellovich diabaate, and then you may also have quaintance. So there's good like to get all those guys minutes you're going on to play too. But I was worried it would screw up the offense. Well it didn't tonight, at least for the vast majority of the game.

00:39:26
Speaker 3: Who's up next to another, Josh.

00:39:28
Speaker 1: Josh, go ahead, Josh if I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven.

00:39:33
Speaker 4: Hey man, So I was so worried tonight that our threes wouldn't show up, and I was worried.

00:39:40
Speaker 1: You know, well they didn't really and we still won. They really did.

00:39:43
Speaker 4: They knew it was but we we still did quite a bit.

00:39:47
Speaker 1: But you know we nine, Yeah, we shot nine of twenty nine, but still won by thirteen.

00:39:54
Speaker 4: You're right, and we looked amazing. But me and my daughter worried. She's super nervous, so let's let's let's let's give her a second. But here, here we go. We want to go.

00:40:08
Speaker 1: To stop.

00:40:13
Speaker 17: Top top top.

00:40:15
Speaker 1: Here you go, Thank you very much, appreciate the call, Billy, your kind of thing there. What's up next? Is that? Dustin? Go ahead? Dston.

00:40:27
Speaker 10: Man, I got a couple of things. I'm gonna go real quick. Me and the twenty thirty three UK Future point guards here in the truck hadn't even got to watch the game yet. Left the football game of Hoptown County. They were getting blowed out.

00:40:39
Speaker 1: Okay, let me ask you a question. Was that the final hop Town Christian County game?

00:40:47
Speaker 2: It's supposed to be? Yes, it was.

00:40:48
Speaker 10: Twenty two to six and they were waiting on a drone to leave the field.

00:40:52
Speaker 2: I was like, I've had.

00:40:53
Speaker 1: Enough, but like, it had to be cool for the community. I bet it had a huge crowd, did it?

00:40:59
Speaker 4: Oh?

00:41:00
Speaker 2: It was. It was packed.

00:41:01
Speaker 10: It was the most people at a Hoptown County game in twenty years.

00:41:04
Speaker 2: It was. It was amazing, honestly.

00:41:05
Speaker 1: Well, I mean I hate that that whole thing. I mean, it's probably good or maybe it's not good. You would have a better opinion than me on the school's combined. I mean, but I'm glad they got to have one more kind of send off with the whole community there.

00:41:17
Speaker 10: That's good, Yes, sir, and man, I just had to call in. I love what Pope's doing. We've got our team back. It's amazing. I love the Kentucky kids playing. Let's go get number nine and shut out to my kid kaylin Her and the Christian County Colonel Bay. I'm going to play for a state total tomorrow.

00:41:36
Speaker 1: All well, good luck to her. Appreciate the call. Uh, probably a lot of empty seats in this crowd, Billy for Louisville Kansas. What's that about.

00:41:45
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:41:46
Speaker 1: That's a lot of empty seats.

00:41:48
Speaker 3: You I have to hand out more tickets.

00:41:51
Speaker 1: That's kind of amazing for a game where you're I mean, I know it's an exhibition, but you're playing Kansas. When's Kansas gonna come to louis All right, who's.

00:41:59
Speaker 3: The bear claw?

00:42:01
Speaker 1: Bear claw? Go ahead.

00:42:05
Speaker 11: I'm excited for this team, really excited for this team. That was glad Billy called up going to be a bucket earlier that I was one of my favorite players to watch in Alabama, and I was so excited we got him. We needed him on defense, and this is gonna be a great team this year.

00:42:20
Speaker 1: He's gonna have a lot of games this year where he has like a double double or I mean again, part of it will be amount of minutes he plays. But if he gets the minutes. He's a double double machine.

00:42:32
Speaker 11: That's right. And I like to see Colin Chandler on Smith there. He shut him down a couple of times. That was nice to see.

00:42:38
Speaker 1: I thought the guy's garden Smith. It was Aberdeen Chandler a little bit of jasper. I mean, they played really well against him. I mean, because that kid is good. And I thought the way they play, I thought, that's about as good as you can guard him in a course of a game like that.

00:42:58
Speaker 11: Yeah, I thought he was gonna tear soup. But we we've shut him down pretty good for the most part.

00:43:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right. Yeah, I appreciate the call. How about the stat, Billy that Purdue has had a seven footer on their roster fourteen straight seasons.

00:43:11
Speaker 3: I didn't know that. I love that stat. And I think their seven footer had a three pointer tonight.

00:43:16
Speaker 1: He did, said I think they said when he was seven. Yeah, he actually looked pretty good. I feel like he scored a bunch. He actually looked all right. Might be the zach Where do they find these people?

00:43:31
Speaker 3: Pipeline?

00:43:32
Speaker 1: They just keep finding zach Edies all over. They had a couple before him, and now where do they find these guys, all right, let's do one more. We'll take our final break. Who's next, Alex, Alex, go ahead, Alex.

00:43:42
Speaker 2: Hey, Matt, first time?

00:43:44
Speaker 1: Long time?

00:43:44
Speaker 6: Who I got two quick points? First of all draft? Scenes has this team fourteen to one and win the national championship? That seems crazy high to me?

00:43:55
Speaker 1: How many? How many teams are ahead of them? Like? What which teams have better odds?

00:44:01
Speaker 6: I'll be honest, I only focused on Kentucky and Well.

00:44:04
Speaker 1: I mean, I can tell you I would not bet I'm perdue to win the championship just because they'll find they'll play a team like US. I mean, Mike, I do think before he's done, Kelvin Sampson's gonna get one. So if you were to say to me who would I make the favorite right now, I would probably say Kelvin Samson. I think they play like Purdue, but they're tough and play good defense. I mean that like their seniors, and they're you know that they stay in the system. But their defensive and physical went to the championship game last year. So yeah, my initial pick would be to them, but I'd have to.

00:44:38
Speaker 3: Look Houston and Purdue at plus nine point.

00:44:40
Speaker 1: Fifty, those the only teams ahead of us.

00:44:43
Speaker 3: Duke is plus thirteen hundred, Yukon's plus thirteen hundred, Kentucky plus four.

00:44:47
Speaker 1: See, those are all just cause of names. I mean, Duke, Yukon and probably Kentucky are their cousin names, and they're trying to kind of get people to bet them. But yes, fourteen to one, I agree with you, sir. Not a bad bet.

00:45:01
Speaker 2: Great, Yeah. And then the last point.

00:45:03
Speaker 6: I don't know what made me think of this, but fourteen years ago you wrote an article on Grantland in the fall of twenty eleven detailing how it was Kentucky's time we were ushering in the Calpary era.

00:45:15
Speaker 1: I was god man, I did write an article on grant Land.

00:45:18
Speaker 6: You did, you did, and it was time for Kentucky to win the national title. Well, here we are, fourteen years removed from our last national title. We're ushering in the Mark Pope era. It's our time again to go win the national title.

00:45:32
Speaker 2: Win number nine. That's all I got cast by ninety.

00:45:36
Speaker 1: Appreciate the call. You know what, That's weird because that's one of those things in life that, for some reason had completely escaped me until he said that. Billy I think I'd.

00:45:45
Speaker 3: Forgotten I did that fourteen years ago.

00:45:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think a lot of those grant Land articles are not on line anymore. But I did write that. I don't remember why. No, I mean, I don't remember who asked me. Somebody asked me to write that, and I actually think it was pretty good. I honestly have not thought about that article in ten years until he just said that.

00:46:07
Speaker 3: Huh, well, if it's online, Corey Price will find it.

00:46:11
Speaker 1: Corey Price find that article for me, because I'd like to have that. I completely forgot I did that. Af I'm nine to two, eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Louisville is down eighty one seventy one to Kansas with two minutes to go in a two thirds empty Young Center in an exhibition game, whereas Kentucky's arena was what percentage, I'll mean, what percentage?

00:46:35
Speaker 4: Full?

00:46:36
Speaker 1: Ninety five percent full Reparina. We'll take a break and be right back. This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show. It is a final segment of the Local Toy Dealers ks OUR Post Game Show. Do you remember being the last time I had the audience of these guys? Do you remember what happened.

00:46:52
Speaker 3: It was after the Oklahoma game and the Oklahoma.

00:46:54
Speaker 1: Game in the SEC tournament. But what happened during that hour you guys were on the route, remember, well, No, that was the that was the Oklahoma game. The game, actually afterwards we lost. Who do we lose to in the tournament? Let that Alabama? We lost to Alabama. And if you remember, after the game, they were all sitting on a couch and wait, of the couch collapsed during the middle of the show and they all ended up in the floor. I'm hoping that didn't happen again. We were in an Airbnb for that one, so I didn't care about the couch. I'm hoping my couches survive this one. If I'm twenty two eighty seven, did you know the NBA is on Amazon Prime tonight? No, it's the debut of Amazon Prime. I will ask you it's Nick Celtics. Can you take a guess who the two big announcers on Amazon Prime are for the NBA. You've heard of both of them.

00:47:47
Speaker 3: I have no clue who is it?

00:47:49
Speaker 1: Iron Eagle and stan Van Gundy. That's your main announcing crew for Amazon Prime.

00:47:55
Speaker 3: I love a little Iron I'm surprised you're not watching the World Series.

00:48:00
Speaker 1: I'm watching Louisville right now. I was just I am gonna turn on I am gonna turn on the baseball if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. That's the guy for Louisville. That's the guy that Pope coach, right, the Egyptian guy. What's his name? Ali Norani? I think who's up next?

00:48:16
Speaker 3: Trey?

00:48:17
Speaker 1: Trey? Go ahead, Tray, Hey.

00:48:20
Speaker 12: Matt, how you doing doing good? I just wanted to say that I was really impressed with our defensive rebounding tonight.

00:48:28
Speaker 2: It's just I agree with you.

00:48:29
Speaker 1: They usually killed They usually kill teams with offensive rebounds. We held them to seven.

00:48:36
Speaker 12: Yeah, and it seems like over the past few years that we've really had trouble with that. So and uh also, oh way after the game, saying that he really wanted to have the team defend the home court. That was really nice, too, year old.

00:48:50
Speaker 1: I like that he did say that on the SEC network, said defending home court was important to him. You know these guys. Look, this is not to say that the other way didn't work, because it did. But it is cool and I know UK fans like it that the way Pope sells this experience to players is not hey, use this as a path to your next spot. He sells the time they're here, the fans and things like defending the court. And I agree with you. I think that's very cool. Yep, appreciate the call. I you know, the other way work too, and we love those players, so I'm not trashing that. But this way I do think connects with fans. Uh in some way. More We'll do six more in call tonight. Who's next?

00:49:37
Speaker 3: Chris?

00:49:38
Speaker 1: Chris say? If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, go.

00:49:40
Speaker 13: Ahead, hey, first time, long time?

00:49:43
Speaker 1: Who are what's up?

00:49:45
Speaker 19: Hey?

00:49:46
Speaker 17: Uh?

00:49:47
Speaker 13: You know I this was an exhibition game, but I took good as a season opener game. I mean, I man, I was impressed how many weapons we have on offense this year. You know, we went to O Way last year and it seem like this. I kept on trying to figure out who was scoring, trying to I don't know the players yet. Well.

00:50:05
Speaker 1: Part of the problem is Jasper Johnson and Aberdeen look exactly the same from like they but from far away. They're both left handed, they're both point guards. They both have the same hair, and they both kind of play the same way, and so like it's easy to sometimes not be able to tell and that one of them is number one the other one's number two, and so it's sometimes hard to tell which one.

00:50:22
Speaker 19: S which and number and number two.

00:50:26
Speaker 13: Chandler after his layup or dunk, he did a little header like I saw the header. Did you see the header after that?

00:50:32
Speaker 1: What do you mean the header like where he taps his head.

00:50:35
Speaker 13: Yeah, he tapped the ball with his head after after went.

00:50:39
Speaker 1: Oh, you mean a header like a soccer header. I didn't see that.

00:50:44
Speaker 13: Yeah, go back and look he does a little I mean he does a little soccer header on that.

00:50:49
Speaker 1: Okay, I look, I did not see that. I did not.

00:50:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, he head butted it. And then they called delay a game.

00:50:53
Speaker 1: I think, Oh, is that what they called? I didn't see why. I see they called the delay a game. That's why they called delay game. Okay, gotcha, I didn't know what that was for. All right, Well, I appreciate the call. Yeah, two great dunks, the Jasper Janson and the Colin Chandler dunk. Chandler dunk to me, I gotta go back and look at it. It had some like he's he's kind of floating in the air parts to it.

00:51:14
Speaker 3: Who's next, Cannon?

00:51:17
Speaker 1: Cannon? What's up? Cannon?

00:51:20
Speaker 16: So I just got home from work, which means that I had to listen on the radio. And let me just say that Goose Gibbons might be my favorite person on this whole earth.

00:51:29
Speaker 1: He gets so excited, doesn't he. I mean, he's like the he gets excited, but he's also like the proud uncle when he's calling the game.

00:51:37
Speaker 16: Yeah, and then just let me share this little interaction just to show what BBN is like. I work at the Automotive Center in Burria Walmart, and this lady got a flat tire on seventy five and I asked where she was from, and she was coming from Williamsburg to Lexington for an exhibition. That just shows what BBN is.

00:51:57
Speaker 1: I hope you did you were you able to get her tired done so she could get there?

00:52:01
Speaker 16: Of course, because I know if it was me in that situation, out of want somebody do the same.

00:52:05
Speaker 1: I love it. Appreciate the called good man for four left? Who's next?

00:52:09
Speaker 3: Todd?

00:52:09
Speaker 1: Is next? Todd? Go ahead? Todd?

00:52:13
Speaker 19: Hello man?

00:52:14
Speaker 1: Uh, what's going on? Tom? In the game.

00:52:19
Speaker 20: Doing well.

00:52:19
Speaker 19: It's been a while since I've talked to you. Go for it tonight. As the game started, I thought Kentucky looked like the best team from the tip till the end, and that totally surprised me. I I just thought by Purdue being ranked number one, that it would be a really tough game. But man alive, we just really looked great. And Purdue just didn't look like a number one No.

00:52:53
Speaker 1: They really didn't. They really didn't. And I didn't want to, like, you know, I don't want to crush them because they they did not look like a number one team. I mean, I think we played really well, but I don't think we played Todd like insanely well like I thought, you know, I thought we've I thought we were really good. But yeah, they didn't look like a number one team. But I think we're also used to Todd playing teams with like great athletes, and they're just a different kind of team, and I think it likes them in the tournament. They're a Big ten team, like there they are. Big ten teams play like that, right, and they're the best Big ten team, and we play like SEC teams, and I think SEC teams really give them a hard time because they just they can't guard them.

00:53:37
Speaker 19: Yeah, I'm just looking forward to a to a real good year.

00:53:42
Speaker 2: Open will go forty Oh.

00:53:45
Speaker 1: Well, let's slow down, all right. We're not gonna go forty to No. I mean, we're gonna lose games. I appreciate to call. I mean we could. I know Louisville lost tonight, but we could lose them that's on their home floor. You know, road games are hard. We have a hard road up conference schedule. Like we played all the hard teams on the road. We tend to play the easy teams at home. We got kind of a weird draw with that. But nevertheless, we're gonna be good. Three more. Who's next? Don don go ahead? Don?

00:54:13
Speaker 20: Hey man, I'm really trying to temper my excitement tonight, but a bit hard to do.

00:54:19
Speaker 1: His team, And.

00:54:23
Speaker 20: I don't care that this was preseason. We just beat the preseason number one team with arguably our two best players not playing tonight, or two of our five best players not playing to them.

00:54:34
Speaker 1: So I think two of our five's fair.

00:54:36
Speaker 20: Yeah, And I'm super excited about this, I don't I mean, it's been a while since we could get this excited. About one of our top two sports programs, and I am I love it well.

00:54:48
Speaker 1: I mean I was really excited last year when we beat Duke in that first game because it felt like Kentucky basketball was back. But I never really thought that team could win a tie. I think this team, I think this team can win a title, and I think that's really exciting.

00:55:07
Speaker 20: That's great, man. I'm just I'm glad to be in this state right now.

00:55:11
Speaker 1: I agree with you, appreciate the call. When did they start having ads on the helmets? Is that really? How long has that been going? What the World Series right now? Is that normal?

00:55:20
Speaker 3: First time I've seen it, But I haven't watched a ton of them.

00:55:22
Speaker 1: Sure they've been doing I mean I guess I go to the games, but I don't really focus.

00:55:25
Speaker 3: On the Yeah, you do have season.

00:55:27
Speaker 1: I got to have season tickets. You think I will behind, but uh, yeah, I haven't really noticed it.

00:55:33
Speaker 3: Who's next, Elijah?

00:55:36
Speaker 1: I actually watched more baseball in the last two years than my home Matt. Let's maybe this is going on the whole time. I should have It's never really processed to go ahead.

00:55:45
Speaker 21: You there, Matt? Yes, Uh, last year our guard play was extremely concerning at times and probably lost us a few key games. Do you think that's a concerning point moving forward with this roster?

00:56:02
Speaker 1: And well, we don't have Jalen low yet though, right I mean, if you believe, like I know, I know that that Jalen Lowe is our second best player and maybe and like the initiator of our offense, he's not here, then I can't be concerned yet, you know what I mean? So no, I'm not concerned. Let me watch a couple of games with Jay low and then maybe I'd have a different view, But right now, no, I'm not concerned.

00:56:26
Speaker 21: Is the guard play the key for this year? Do you think? Or will it be other ways to kind of facilitate and win?

00:56:33
Speaker 1: I think I think the key for this team is I always think the key is what we don't do well right, because we've got to make it better. So last year we knew we could shoot. My question was are we gonna be able to create offense and key possessions? Are we gonna be able to create shots? This year? I think we're gonna be able to do it. The key is gonna be we're gonna get open threes and when it's not Trent Noah and you know Ken those can jayl otago away the bigs? You know, can those guys Aberdeen? Can they hit the open looks that they get? That'll be the key to the season. And let's see what happens. This is one game. But if we're hitting with this team, if we're hitting threes, we're gonna be really hard to beat.

00:57:19
Speaker 21: Yeah, I agree, Thank you, Matt.

00:57:21
Speaker 1: Appreciate it. I mean, you saw we had a ton of open looks tonight and we took some bad threes too, but I bet you we were like nine of seventeen or whatever from open threes. That'll be That'll be the question. One more and then we'll call it a night. Who's next, Chris, Chris, go ahead, Chris.

00:57:38
Speaker 5: Hey, Matt Jones, first time ever?

00:57:41
Speaker 1: Who are you?

00:57:43
Speaker 16: Uh?

00:57:44
Speaker 5: You know, just real quick, you know, I really think that this is finally a great moment.

00:57:51
Speaker 19: You know, through all the.

00:57:51
Speaker 5: Cal years and then the last few years that we just had some concerns and now we're seeing this team and we be produced regardless of ex But to reiterate the rest of the fans, go cats. You know, we would we lose six games, we don't win the SEC, but we tough it out. We win the national championship. God bless take care of Thank you go.

00:58:12
Speaker 1: Cats appreciate its call. I like that prediction, and I like tonight. Tonight was a great night. Tonight is great for the program, great for the fan base, packed house, exciting win against a good team. Lexington has a buzz about it. Who do we play tomorrow in football baller?

00:58:31
Speaker 3: Yeah doesn't matter.

00:58:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't matter. For tonight, everybody enjoy it, and at least until Tuesday, we're gonna say this team can win the national championship. Cats beat the number one per New boiler Makers at home seventy eight to sixty five in an exhibition game, and Kentucky basketball is back and it's gonna be a great year.
