Welcome to Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses, where strategy meets soul and connection. Well, that's the secret sauce. Hi, I'm Cheyanne Cleyman, a wife, proud mama of three, former actress and fitness trainer turned serial entrepreneur and online relationship expert. Over the last decade, I've built my own brands, helped dozens of others grow theirs, and discovered one powerful truth: connection is the real currency.
If you're a service-based business or high-ticket brand that wants more leads, trust, and sales from social media without the burnout or fake hype, you're in the right place. Each week, I'm bringing you short, powerful, and packed episodes that feel like a coffee date with a best friend and biz coach all in one. Let's turn your followers into clients and content into connection. This is Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses, and it's about to change how you show up online. Let's dive in, boss.
People treat content like it expires in 24 hours. You post, you pray for likes, you maybe get a few comments, and then what do you do? You move on. You start the cycle all over again next week, right? But here's the truth, guys: your content can keep working for you long after you hit publish, if you know how to set it up right.
So, although most people treat content like it expires in 24 hours, by the end of this episode, we're going to make sure that you are not like most people. Okay, because when done right, one post can lead to new followers, new subscribers, and the best, even new clients, weeks or months later.
Today, I'm going to break down exactly how to turn your content into a long-term lead generation tool, the kind that builds momentum for your business instead of draining your energy. That sounds good, right? Well, without further ado, let's get to it.
So let's start here. Let's just kind of get what is it called, like the elephant out of the room, or addressed elephant in the room, is that trends are fun, but they fade. That's the thing, right? It's like trends are trendy when they're trending, but eventually they just go away.
I mean, you know that trending audio you probably used last month? Well, unfortunately, no one even remembers it now, or no one's going to look for it. But your post that was on three simple mistakes to avoid when writing a caption? Guess what? That's still relevant today, tomorrow, next month, and probably a year from now.
That's the magic of evergreen content. Evergreen content answers timeless questions that your audience always has and will always have. Think about right now, I want you to picture in your mind your ideal client. What are they Googling over and over again? Or, I guess, maybe a more modern-day way to say it would be, what are they Chat GPT-ing? What are they looking up? What are they asking the internet for? What are they searching for?
How are they, like someone that would be, for instance, like, you know, would be one of our ideal clients, they would be looking for things like, "How do I get more leads from Instagram?" or, "Why is no one engaging with my post?" or something like, "What should I say in the DMs without sounding weird or salesy?"
All of those things are timeless, and no matter how many trends come and go, they're never going to go out of style. And when you create content around those kind of things, you're building long-term deliverability.
Here's an example. So let's put it into something practical, right? I once had a single post called something like, Five things your content should do before you ever worry about hashtags. Hashtags have been huge, and arguably, you probably still hear about hashtags. There's a lot of debate, but basically, hashtags and content are two things people still look up, still Google. So at that time, it was big, and it took off.
And for months, people were still finding it, saving it, and DMing me, saying, "Hey, I need this," or "I love when there's a freebie that we did months ago and haven't really talked about in a long time, and yet, every week we still get people asking for it."
So that's basically the kind of content that compounds. It lives longer because it's not based on a fleeting sound or a one-time event, you know, right? It's based on your audience's ongoing pain points, right?
So I often on this podcast compare a lot of the advice that I give you kind of like relationship advice. So you want to think about almost like your content, like it may be, you know, cute and fun to like see the hot couple, or what's something new that couples are doing for dating. But it's like it's always at the end of the day, you want to ask, "Are you going to get advice from those couples that have been married for 50 years?" right? Because they have something that's timeless. They have something that works, okay?
So here we go. The first shift for you to focus on right, to make sure that everything lives longer, okay, and that you have content that works for you is that you want to stop chasing trends, start building timeless content. So if it makes it easier for you, think about it being the 2T's: no trends. All about timeless. So timeless over trends. Ask yourself, before you go create something, "Will this still be helpful in three months from now?" If the answer is yes, you're building an asset, not a post.
Now let's talk about one of my favorite strategies: repurposing. That's literally like one of my favorite strategies, just in life in general. As a mom of two young boys, I try to repurpose so much.
Most of your audience doesn't see your content the first time you post it. You've probably noticed this. It can be frustrating, especially when you spend hours on a beautifully tailored, wonderful, customized Reel. But if you put enough energy in something like that, you better make sure that you have built something to last. So when you repurpose something like that, you're not being repetitive, you're being strategic.
Here's a simple framework for you to put this into practical usage for your specific niche in business. Take one piece of long-form content, so it can be something like a podcast episode, a blog, or even a really strong caption, and then break it down into smaller, bite-size, like snackable pieces.
Let's say this episode you're listening to right now, right? I could take one quote from this podcast, so say a quote: "Your content can keep working for you long after you hit publish,", and then turn it into a graphic. How about I could make a segment about evergreen versus trendy, right, and make it a carousel post? I could choose a quick clip from this conversation for a 30-second Reel, or even a short paragraph from something I'm saying into a LinkedIn post with a call to action.
And ultimately, the main idea of what I'm sharing with you. I can do this, and I actually do do this, is I put it into a short email to my email list every single week. So that's one piece of content. Did you count that? One piece of content fueling five different pieces across multiple platforms.
So repurposing isn't just about like helping with visibility. It also helps build consistency. People start to associate you with your key ideas. They're going to hear your message again and again in different formats until it just sticks, baby. So instead of just throwing spaghetti at the wall, make sure what you're throwing out there is going to stick.
So if you're wondering how to show up consistently without burning out, this is truly the answer. Repurpose what's already working. And if you don't know what's working, here's a little quick pro tip: go back to your analytics. Well, go find almost any social media app nowadays has some kind of analytics in the back end. Find your top three performing posts in the last 90 days and reimagine them in a new format. Post them somewhere else, on a different platform, or just repurpose it into a different type of content. You don't need new ideas. You just need new angles.
Now I'm going to share with you guys where most people drop the ball. Because remember, I don't want you to be most people. What people do is they post amazing content and then nothing. There's no link, no next step, no system for what happens after someone says, "Ooh, I like this," or they lean in, right?
That's like putting out a fishing net and not bringing a bucket to hold what you catch, right? And hey, I've been guilty of that many times before, but your content can only turn into leads if there's a very strategic system to capture those leads, and you want to make sure you make it as clear and obvious as possible.
Now that might look like something like a freebie or a lead magnet linked in your bio. It could also be a pinned comment directing people to your checklist, your audit, or your discovery call, or it could just be a simple like call to action saying something like, "DM me the word ready if you want to learn more."
What matters is that it isn't just the content, it's the path that it creates. So often, your content is, you hear a lot in the marketing world of funnel, it's the top of your funnel. At my company, Kuleana Connect we call this your nurture flow, right? It's like that invisible bridge between attention and action, getting your audience's attention and then leading them to the action of becoming your client.
So every piece of content should answer this question: Where does this lead? If you can't answer that, your post isn't finished yet, because the goal isn't just to get seen, it's to get remembered, connected, and ultimately converted.
Now this is exactly what we help our clients build at Juliana Connect. We don't just help you post. We build systems that make your content work for you long after it goes live. So instead of constantly creating, you're compounding. If you want to see how this could work in your business, go ahead to the show notes below and grab our free lead tracker. It's the same tool that we use with our clients to track engagement, leads, and conversations all in one place. It is pretty much your organizational BFF.
So here's one more thing, as we land the plane on this episode. I call them momentum multipliers, right? These are simple habits that turn your content into a long-term ecosystem. So you want to engage before you post, right? So these would be, sorry, I should have prefaced this, you want to take some notes here, because they're really simple things that you can do that it's like, you know, those little pieces of effort that you put in to a recipe, or in even in your marriage, that they just never get old. They're just things that are just the basics. And sometimes really the basics just are that for a reason, and they work.
So setting aside 10 minutes to do this is very crucial. Engage before you post, just again. Spend time commenting and connecting. It boosts your reach on your post, and it draws people to your post. You want to also pin your best content, keep your evergreen post visible at the very top of your profile. You have to imagine, every day there's people that come to your page who have never met you and have no idea who you are, so spell it out for them.
And make sure you batch your CTAs, so meaning rotate between it, right? Don't always put the same call to actions, or people will start to ignore them. So you want to rotate between list building, engagement, and sales every week, so your content always moves people forward. When you stack these small things consistently, your content turns into a pipeline.
So my favorite part of every episode is after I kind of like info dump you guys. I'm all about taking action and helping you guys take some too. So here is your challenge this week: I want you to go and pick your best performing post from the past 30 days. Then go ahead and repurpose it into at least a minimum of three new formats: a Reel, a carousel, and a story. That simple.
And attach a clear call to action that points to your lead magnet, right, and then track it. Track it using your lead tracker, and see what happens. Over the next two weeks, you'll realize that you don't need more content, you just need smarter, more strategic content that keeps working for you long after you hit publish.
And when you guys do this, I want you to tag me in these posts so I can come give it some love and boost up that algorithm. Thank you guys again for tuning into Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses. If this episode helped you, take a screenshot, tag me on Instagram at @KuleanaConnect, or at @theenergizedmompreneur and tell me your biggest takeaway.
Remember, great content doesn't disappear. It compounds, and you just have to build it like an asset, not a post. Thank you for listening again, boss, and I'll see you on the next episode of Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses.
All right, my friend, that's it for today. But let me leave you with this. If your content's not converting, it's not your fault. Chances are you've been taught to prioritize the algorithm instead of the actual humans reading your words. And that, that ends right here.
