Speaker 3: Welcome into our two of the first episode of KSR of twenty twenty six. Drew Franklin driving the show here with Ryan Lemmon beside me. After we took a little day off during vacation season. Yeah, but we're back today to recap all the news, a lot of news.

00:01:14
Speaker 2: Ryleman almost called you, Nick Krausse, she was to my left. Hey, that's me. We've had a lot to get to.

00:01:19
Speaker 3: I want to hear more from the callers on the Clark's Pump Chop phone line five O two Toato two two eight.

00:01:24
Speaker 2: Seven eight five nine. I said, five O two, Yeah, did I do that earlier too? I think I didn't catch you.

00:01:30
Speaker 3: Think I did because I'm getting to a vision glass. You've programmed that damn number five see a vision glass text machine five oh two, seven thirty six, thirty five.

00:01:38
Speaker 1: Eighty thirty five thirty six eighty.

00:01:40
Speaker 2: My goodness, what is going on?

00:01:42
Speaker 3: Let's just start from the top. Welcome an hour two. Ks Franklin here with Ryan Lemon and Nick Rausch. It is the first show of twenty twenty six. Took yesterday off to celebrate the new year. Watch a lot of football had But now we're recapping the news. Things like the Bowie transfer. We had to wait a little bit too long into the sho show to talk about the women's basketball win. I apologize again, especially to our caller who called us on the Clark's Pumping Shop phone line at eight five nine to two to eight seven. Go okay, hey, and you can text us on the Avision Glass text machine which is in Ryan Lemon's hand five O two seven thirty five thirty six eighty Have people been texting?

00:02:17
Speaker 2: You have been using it? We say it, but we have.

00:02:19
Speaker 1: Been to a couple. Let me ask you a couple of yeah, yeah, yeah. Do we lose Willie Rodriguez with Bowie leaving since the.

00:02:26
Speaker 2: Roommates, I heard a week ago, I don't know, before Christmas that things were looking good for Willie Rodriguez return. And then I also got that relay to me again two or three days ago. So it seems like they have him walked up. And if you watched any of the Oregon game, they like to throw to their tight ends. Kenyan huge, he had a couple. I don't know what the final stats were, but I think on the first drive the tight ends had four receptions of their six past plays. Did Kenyan sadek anytime? Town He did not.

00:02:57
Speaker 3: I lost a little money on the DraftKings was not mine on the Citik touchdown, but he was a big part of the offense.

00:03:03
Speaker 2: There was one play in particular two where I forget who it might have been. Lewis Reddick, Who's oh, Kenyon Sadeik's right there, Dante Moore's gotta throw it. He's wide open for the touchdown, and it said he got sacked. It's all right, I was taking you. I had three touchdown scores in the Rose Bowls that made up for my city.

00:03:17
Speaker 1: Colss.

00:03:18
Speaker 3: You want to just talk a little college football playoffs since also some pretty big news.

00:03:21
Speaker 1: I love to talk about it.

00:03:22
Speaker 3: Let's talk about it. There are four games saw the playoffs work one New Year's Eve. Guys, I gotta admit I'm just gonna hand off the first game to you because I was at dinner during this game and when I got there, not complaining because I had a great time, but I did not have eyeballs on the television.

00:03:37
Speaker 2: I thought I might.

00:03:38
Speaker 3: Turns out I didn't, so Miami, I know they went up fourteen. Oh, I was doing some phone checking. Saw the replay of the big interception return. But you are gonna have to kind of take this one from me. How was Miami able to pull off the upset?

00:03:50
Speaker 2: Well, I do think part of it is in these four games, you saw the importance of good kickers because Ole Miss doesn't win without their kicker. Ohio State, they have a chance to make a field goal. It was a very makeable field goal right before halftime that would have made it a seven point game. And ultimately that it felt like they needed those three points down the stretch and in a bad way. And I know Miami ended up pulling away.

00:04:14
Speaker 1: But.

00:04:16
Speaker 2: The violence is just from all four games was what stood out to me and Miami in particular. That's the the acc is it's a league that I mean, Stukes would just put him in a frickin' walker every year on Duke's Mayo or whatever bowl game. It was right where you're playing NC State or Virginia Tech. It's like we're in for a long time. Oh yeah, Like we're just gonna beat you up up front because you can't compete with this. Mario Cristobal has got dudes on both sides of the trenches, and they they got after Ohio State, they made him one dimensional and really Julian Saying just didn't do the throw. It to number four. Play enough like Jerem Mo Smith, just just every play just throw it to him. And they didn't do that enough. They end up losing. And really the other third thing I had from this game is run did you did you see any of Michael Irvin?

00:05:04
Speaker 1: How was he there?

00:05:06
Speaker 3: I did see Michael Irvin there at the game.

00:05:08
Speaker 2: They didn't show him enough on the broadcast.

00:05:11
Speaker 1: I didn't catch that. And maybe it was Ray Lewis there too.

00:05:13
Speaker 2: They didn't show it.

00:05:15
Speaker 3: I think Michael Irvin needs some corn bright him well, might need to cal him down to some little I think he's more of an upper than a downer.

00:05:20
Speaker 2: Okay. I like when they show McConaughey once and he does the hook him thing. It was too much Michael Irvin and the BTA celebration like that. That was laye before it ever even started. I mean, I'm not one to tell Michael Irvin what's cool and what's not. Clearly he's been much cooler for me for much longer. But that is him putting a jersey on a Gatorade cooler and just beating.

00:05:47
Speaker 3: It while holding his pants up very just well, he's got to be sixty right or close to it.

00:05:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna say he's sixty. I mean he was playing for the Cowboys in the he was at the end of his career in the late nineties. It was thirty years ago.

00:06:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going sixty on Michael Evans. But he's a big part of the production. I did catch that money was just with Miami. Does he just travel with the team.

00:06:10
Speaker 2: It's funny. It's just there's like a line of like, they you could have way too much Michael Irvin. Yeah, and they get they gave way too much. He would just just dial it back a little bit, like him on the sidelines where he's his legs or he's on a knee and he's all stressed out. That's funny that the belt out. I don't I don't need the belt out. It's just too much.

00:06:30
Speaker 3: Leave your belt on, Ryan, don't tell us about your belt on New Yr's Eve. But you mentioned you'd gone to bed early. Were you able to watch this?

00:06:36
Speaker 1: I saw it was the fourth quarter. I mean really, that's that's that's why I saw him to Michael Irvin between every play over there.

00:06:42
Speaker 2: In Ohio State, they had a chance, but uh, the get if Ohio State gets a stop, they get the ball back, they can go down the wind instead. Miami was just like, we're gonna run it down your throat. Yeah, which makes for a fascinating matchup for the next game because they're gonna take on Ole miss. That was a one of the I liked it in the playoff. Now we're basically batting five hundred on great games versus awful ones.

00:07:07
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:07:08
Speaker 3: Well, you know Wednesday and Thursday, whatever today is. We had the upset that we just named. We had a shutout, yep, we had access Tech that was just a whooping, and then we had finally a thriller last night. We'll just go chronologically. Okay, I didn't see Wednesday night. I was out ringing in the New Year.

00:07:26
Speaker 4: Yep.

00:07:26
Speaker 3: I was locked in all day yesterday. If I watched a snapping it or missed a snapping any of those games, I don't know if it did. I was in my chair with my computer locked in cotton bowl or ex give me orange bowl yesterday afternoon. Will Stein, you let it off right at noon. I'm glad we got to write to our will Stein game. More of a defensive performance from from Oregon. They were moving the ball early, as you said, the offense was looking good with the tight ends. They just a few coaching decisions, leaving some points on the board, punching it in go for it guy.

00:07:55
Speaker 2: And I'm of the belief, if you're gonna be a go for it guy, just always be a go for it guy.

00:08:00
Speaker 1: And they did that.

00:08:01
Speaker 2: I mean, they left a lot of points on the board, but it didn't matter because Texas Tech's offense couldn't couldn't do anything anything looks terrible.

00:08:09
Speaker 3: It made me think I watched a lot of text Tech just being honest, wonder how they even gotten the playoff to begin with A.

00:08:13
Speaker 2: Well, some of it is because Big twelve defenses are terrible and they were able to just run on people. But they've had quarterback injury issues and I think more Baron Morton was hurt a little bit yesterday. It kind of looked that way, but there was a point where Oregon was plus two in the turnover margin the first half and it was only up three to nothing. That's how good Texas Tech defenses. Like that defense is awesome, they are legit. So shout out to Oregon for finally capitalizing on that scores of points. You know, I selfishly was like, just get me, give me will Stein here full time, but now like and part of this because I didn't think Organ was good enough to win it all. You meet Indiana, you can win it all. I mean Indiana's they play murder ball. I mean signetti looks like a new Saban and it's terrifying. Well do we worry? You know we're not.

00:08:57
Speaker 3: I'm not putting a ring on will Stun's finger yet, but just say they finished the job. Motivation is a big part of our our brand around here, as we saw last year. Yeah, motivation was a big word.

00:09:06
Speaker 1: Huh.

00:09:07
Speaker 2: I don't know that.

00:09:07
Speaker 3: I want him to already have a ring. You know he's gonna want to go get his own, but I want that hunger. I want him to get close and taste just a little, but not finish it so he can come finish it.

00:09:17
Speaker 2: Here in Lexington. You know, we need the college game day story or where it's it's the Marty Smith sit down and will Stein he remembers being in that tunnel and watching the confetti fall, and he said, I gotta get back here with Kentucky and they're gonna play that feature right before the Cats are in the college football playoffs.

00:09:36
Speaker 3: And Rhodes lead to Lexington. That's just what he's waiting for for his national championship. They're moving on though. Yeah, good look, good look for Oregon in a defensive You mentioned Texas Tech felt bad they weren't gonna help that front. Seven was rock and Oregon early.

00:09:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, but it it wasn't as bad as Alabama got rocked in the Rose Bowl in the afternoon. I mean, that was my buddy Adam like could convinced me that to Kaylin de Boor and little Obama, we're gonna we're gonna get it done right because the board wins those games. He's awesome as in matchups top twen matchups, and it could have been a big moment for Indiana. The other part too, I watched all those teams with buys get beat, so my brain I was a little like, oh, no and six. They were zero and six to that point, and then Indiana just steam rolled him Bamba bench Ty Simpson. So it was so bad they pinched their quarterback.

00:10:31
Speaker 3: He probably should have slid on the he got hammered, got fumbled and shattered his ribs. I was doing a rollover bet where I bet on Miami to cover. I rolled it over to Oregon and it came time for the third rollover. Now was numbers get a little bgiger than when we started. I told myself, soon as we're Oregon ended go bet Indiana minus seven.

00:10:51
Speaker 2: Just do it.

00:10:52
Speaker 3: It's a lot of points, but just do But when when I got to the app, it was seven and a half. That half point changed everything from me.

00:10:58
Speaker 2: But here's the thing, too, Indian should have been like twelve and a half, and we we just it. It's the stupid logos, man, I know it.

00:11:05
Speaker 3: I opened the app with intentions of hitting Indiana minus seven. I see seven and a half. I took Bama. Look at you're a part of that too, with your excitement and calling you out. But there are other people on castboard. There's a lot of Bama talk, and at the last minute I went Bama. That proved to be wrong, and we learned in a hurry that was wrong. They were never in that game.

00:11:23
Speaker 1: Not only did they steamroll Alabama the last game, they steamrolled Ohio State. I mean they put these two premiere program and like Nick said, you just a logo thing. You don't you can't believe in Indiana because it says Indiana, and the other logo says Ohio State and Alabama. Indiana is like legit dominating, dominating these top programs.

00:11:42
Speaker 3: I mean it's your old team, Ron, how do you feel? And you know you grew up watching Indiana basketball. We've heard you mentioned you go play for point.

00:11:48
Speaker 1: Guard for Bob Knight.

00:11:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, you wanted to be like Coverdale or who was it Cheney?

00:11:53
Speaker 2: Which one did you want to be?

00:11:54
Speaker 1: Covert Cheney?

00:11:55
Speaker 3: Which one? Which one were you dreaming of being? Steve offers you go one, sure if it is Tom Coverdale or that loop guy that went. But I mean you you know Indiana well from there? Did you ever ever ever dream of a day where the football program would be just whooping everyone?

00:12:12
Speaker 2: No?

00:12:12
Speaker 1: And that's why it's got to give programs like Kentucky a little bit of hope. The hey man, If Indiana can do it loading up on the transfer port, getting the right people, getting the right coach, getting the right staff, If Indiana can do it, if Vanderbilt can do it, why can't Kentucky do it? We got a co new coach now bringing a new staff. This is where it's gonna start.

00:12:30
Speaker 2: I think the important part to note too. About Indiana and Texas Tech is Texas Tech is doing it with oil money, and there are gonna be schools out there that just the they pay a lot of money to get their players. Indiana has money, but it's kind of like the money that everybody's working with. They just have the right guys. I mean, the offensive line was the rose Ball MVP. Yeah, right, and they just gave it to the whole line.

00:12:55
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:12:55
Speaker 2: It's like you all, you kicked all the ass, you get to be the MVP. So that's why to you, I mean, to your point, Ryan, like, there is optimism that you can make it work if you get the right guys right, if you make the right evaluations, if you've got a hungry coaching staff, which you know there's a lot of young guys. This is their first, big, big opportunity. Gotta go prove it, yep, prove it in the SEC against a difficult schedule.

00:13:20
Speaker 4: Uh.

00:13:20
Speaker 3: And then you got just sig over there with the straight He finally smiled with like twenty seconds left, but they're up thirty and he looks like he's mad at the world.

00:13:28
Speaker 2: And I love it.

00:13:29
Speaker 3: No, you can just tell your good coaches.

00:13:31
Speaker 2: Oh, I love that I also in the nightcap because Kirby Smart has a little bit of let's get some sugar. That that that's like psychosis to him, right the aggression. That game was one of those that you're just like, imagine anything being better than football, because it was oh Miss went up ten points with eight minutes ago and blew that. I mean, Gunner Stockton just kept taking hit after hit, deliver and throws. It was. It was unreal the resiliency that Georgia showed. But Trinidad Chambliss, that dude, whatever, if we could bottle up whatever that is that he was on for that stretch right there, he looked like Joe Burrow out there that that's sort of I'm in the zone and nobody can get in my way. He was unreal that last touchdown throw he had and Georgia, Georgia, you did everything right. Ole Miss kind of penalized their way to let you go tie the game. But then you you let Trinidad get one more shot deep and you gave up a forty.

00:14:43
Speaker 3: Year pass, You trade Phil goals in the last minute. Early they just kept shooting themselves in the foot for what I wasn't big on going for two that early in the game, throws off the math you're already talking about it.

00:14:55
Speaker 2: This is gonna cost him the end.

00:14:57
Speaker 1: Then.

00:14:57
Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw right before halftime, but as a Kentucky fan, that look very familiar.

00:15:01
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, right.

00:15:02
Speaker 2: He cuts in and you're like, what are you doing? Clon field goal range?

00:15:07
Speaker 3: Even their coach I felt bad for him because he can't throw the player of the bus. But at halftime they're like, how did you not get a field goal off? And he's like, well, the plan was to run out of bound. Yeah, but their player cuts in and they can't get the field goal, you know, on the field.

00:15:18
Speaker 2: I love that. It was also Sean McDonough who had the Kentucky games when they were just terrible. At the end of halfs and he's like, could you what are they doing? And he's calling out Joe Judge and Charlie Weiss junior the plan there what it's like, Oh man, really really putting their feet to the fire.

00:15:36
Speaker 3: And at that point it's a two percent I think it was nine points. You're already thinking about their two point conversion they missed. Now they're leaving three on the field. You're already the underdog old miss without your head coach thinking there's no way they can pull this off, leaving four points on the field in the first half, but.

00:15:49
Speaker 2: Then especially against Georgia, right Like george is a team that's been here before, and if you watch them all year, there was some playing with fire there. But you could say they were playing with fire they were going to get burt or you could say, well, they've proven that they can win close games and that they're comfortable in these situations, and that was kind of bearing out down the stretch. I thought the the one question I had was on third and goal from the five, do you try to go Do you try to throw it to the end zone or do you just run the cat because LSU's out of timeouts, only it leaves him with thirty seconds ago or whatever. They tried to go for the win. I can't like you go for the win. Yeah, I think that's the right idea. Fifty seconds all you gotta do is tackle him in bounds and you probably win the game. They went one high and that it cost him. That guy got beat deep. Trinidad made a perfect throat hit the gun stride. I mean it's a perfect throw and then easy field goal for Carnero.

00:16:46
Speaker 1: Former West Kentucky hilltopper.

00:16:47
Speaker 3: By the way, he's awesome.

00:16:49
Speaker 1: He's so really good.

00:16:50
Speaker 2: Although I secretly wanted him to that would have been the most college kicker thing ever. Right, they talk all broadcasts about how awesome this guy is. Just for him to pull it and send it in a time. But there was one second left, Ryn, one second left, so we had the poor stage crew.

00:17:06
Speaker 1: Set the stage up, break it down, bring it out again, get ready to move it off the field again.

00:17:10
Speaker 2: I think Pete Golden got three Gatoray bats. It just kept uping gateorade on them right before a break.

00:17:15
Speaker 3: What do you think about Lane Kiffin getting half a million for old missus win.

00:17:19
Speaker 1: I think it's not my money.

00:17:21
Speaker 3: So he's watching Kentucky beat up on Ken Milkey and Williams and the LSU women's basketball just before the night's over. He's got a half million.

00:17:29
Speaker 1: Counties, Benjamin just sitting in the stands counties Benjamin earned. I know for shift gears. I love the fact that the college football Playoffs, our final four. There's no Georgia, no Alabama, no Ohio State, no Michigan, no Clemson. These teams that have dominated over the recent years. It's Miami, Oregon, Indiana and Ole miss I kind of love that.

00:17:51
Speaker 3: And of all the SEC teams, it's the one that Kiffin left to go on a national championships and they unlikely still but of all the teams to be the one left standing on stands to the chaos we've had, We'll have a little more chaos here on KSR. Yeah, you like these uh these transitions.

00:18:08
Speaker 2: Are doing there. We have more Bowl games today to more Bowl games today. He's getting a male bath today. Folks. Tell me there's people on the phone lines. We'll get to that.

00:18:16
Speaker 3: We'll be right back to this, KSR. Yeah, I like that rock music there, Rick, welcome back, ks R. Frank send it up a little bit. Is this a new song? This is twenty twenty six new release or is this some some old.

00:18:35
Speaker 1: This is a cheap trick.

00:18:36
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Yeah, great band fall the.

00:18:40
Speaker 1: Dream Police, they live inside of my head at.

00:18:42
Speaker 2: Cheap Police, right, cheap cheap I don't I don't remember that crossover event. You could listen to.

00:19:47
Speaker 2: Oh, you know we still got next. Second, we got get them ready?

00:19:50
Speaker 3: Well you texted me Tuesday night, you have it ready? What was just run through yoursay? First, need to run through some calls. I've had people waiting. Rick tells me they're still on the line. I don't want to lose them, So let's get to the phone lines. Racouds up first, Got Joe up first. Joe, thanks for calling in, Thanks for holding what's up.

00:20:06
Speaker 5: Quickly? A couple of comments Coach Skinner, good luck as he puts together his volleyball team for next year. There's no reason why him in Nebraska and Louisville will go at it head ahead. And good luck to coach Skinner against bus bomb. Kelly not my favorite coach in the world, but she's pretty damn good. So good luck to coach Skinner. And secondly, Nick on recruiting, is Ohio still going to be a priority in West of the Mississippi. It's a junior colleges in play. When it comes to coach Stett, thank.

00:20:38
Speaker 2: You, goodbye, appreciate the call. Good to hear for me. It is good to hear from Joe haven't heard that voice in a while. The junior college thing was it felt like Stoops was using it to break glass of in case of emergency. They's not as prevalent now that the transfer portal is around, so I don't anticipate that. But Stein has hired a couple of assistants who were previously at Ohio State, so well, I don't think that it's going to be the same volume that we saw with Vince in the Youngstown Gang when Mark Stoops was here. I do think they still will be recruiting Ohio. This staff has a lot of connections to Theisiana and Texas, so that will probably happen. But the other part too, the DMV area defensive coordinator j Bateman has a lot of connections there. So I think what we're seeing. The term analysts used to get thrown around a lot. Do you remember that we had quality control analysts. Well, now they just are assistant position coaches because they can recruit, they just can't go visit places. Well we got zoom now, yeah, like coaches don't really hit the road anymore. That's not like a huge thing as it once was. So basically the way the staff is being structured. You got a lot more people recruiting than just Vince because there for a while felt like it was just Vents recruiting. So you should have players kind of from all over where. It's not gonna be You're not gonna be so rely on in just one place. In the other part of it too. You got to get some guys for Kentucky. Is that twenty seven class?

00:22:05
Speaker 4: Uh?

00:22:06
Speaker 2: Kewan Hall from Col's really good. There's a couple of kids at Atherton that are really good. So the state has some pretty big time players that are coming up in the in the years. Right down the road. Who's next?

00:22:16
Speaker 3: Rick super Dave? Is next super Dame? Not just any Dave super Dame? What's up?

00:22:23
Speaker 6: Hey guys, Hey y'all doing Hey? Nick or so fellows the sales Brad. I wanted to say Happy New Year to everybody, and I wanted to change it a little bit. I know we're in the middle of the football playoffs in the NFL, wows and all that, But what do you all think is gonna happen tomorrow at Alabama with the basketball team?

00:22:43
Speaker 2: Oh? I appreciate that. Oh yeah.

00:22:45
Speaker 3: I also in my notes an Alabama preview because we do return to basketball tomorrow.

00:22:49
Speaker 4: Run.

00:22:50
Speaker 1: It has been forever since we've seen him play. The Bellman game seemed like it was a month ago.

00:22:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, we're up again. We're up against our hard breaks, so I appreciate the call. We'll do our Alabama preview. Okay, with Rylman's out, can I get the best of twenty five in the next in the next break? Here before we go, I did have one news item I meant to get to the first hour. There was a shooting near ks Bar yesterday. WYT is reporting now that two people have died, three were shot, one's injured. It's very it's the parking lot we share with other buildings. Just want to let everyone know it's unrelated to anything with us or any of our people. We were watching the news like everyone else that happened yesterday. We're thinking about the two loss and the one that's still injured. But one put that out there.

00:23:25
Speaker 2: We'll be right back.

00:23:26
Speaker 3: It's a KSR. Here's not Matt Jones. This is Drew Franklin here filling in for Matt Jones. He will be back tomorrow for the early morning pregame show Ryan Lemon.

00:23:34
Speaker 1: Nine thirty am for the pregame show in the morning. People.

00:23:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, people forget there's a basketball still going on, like the drought rounds't been like ten days already since the Bellerman game. Huge road trip tomorrow going to tuscalous So we're gonna talk a little bit more about that game, getting ready for it here before this show ends.

00:23:51
Speaker 2: It's flying by.

00:23:52
Speaker 3: I think I think I overproduced because I you know, I'm not lock long winded like Matt. I'm talking fast because I had two pots of coffee. You still haven't even touched half the stuff we were going to get to today.

00:24:03
Speaker 1: Better to be over prepared, that's right than underprepared.

00:24:06
Speaker 3: Let's get right to what really matters because we didn't get to it. Tuesday, Your Top Moments of twenty twenty. Am I doing Stockton Mortgage. I was going to say, this edition is presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:24:51
Speaker 3: Happy to your Stockton for timing purposes so I don't mess this up again and we push it off till monday. You texted me your top five football in your top five basketball on two.

00:25:00
Speaker 1: Yes for the year.

00:25:01
Speaker 3: Yes, we won't add ours that will take forever. Okay, we'll do your top five and Nick and I. Because Nick made a list on the website, he's ready to go.

00:25:09
Speaker 1: I have my list right out.

00:25:10
Speaker 3: We'll add honorable mentions that you don't do, but we'll just get Ryan's top five football moments twenty five. You can either count down from five, start at one. You have the floor.

00:25:21
Speaker 1: Okay, I'll go backwards five to one.

00:25:23
Speaker 2: Okay.

00:25:24
Speaker 3: Media day with Big Pete. Ooh sheous Pete. Great, great, great moment for for KSR. And it was that thing went super viral. I think ESPN even shared it on their social.

00:25:35
Speaker 1: And it was a lot of fun. Yeah. I got to got to know him kind of personally. So that was number five.

00:25:39
Speaker 2: Okay, I like that one.

00:25:40
Speaker 1: Number four. Ty Bryant decides to come back.

00:25:43
Speaker 2: I think that's huge. Wow.

00:25:45
Speaker 1: I think he's a kid, Yes, he's you know, a local kid. I think he had one guy on defense you had to bring back.

00:25:51
Speaker 2: It was him.

00:25:51
Speaker 1: He had one guy on offense you had to bring back. It was Cutter Bowli. All right, so fifty percent, they're hitting five hundred.

00:25:56
Speaker 2: Get you to the Hall of Fame. Number three, great leader, Like it's good to have that during a transition.

00:26:01
Speaker 1: Beating Auburn at Auburn that's my now number three, and then number two beating Florida at home. Those back to back wins. Highlight of the season obviously, and my number one moment will Stein introduction. I think that's the easy, easy number one for me.

00:26:14
Speaker 3: All right, I'll had a few quick ones. We'll call it the five more from Drew. I would do four five. I'll just had a few.

00:26:20
Speaker 2: It kind of goes with Auburn.

00:26:22
Speaker 3: But I really enjoyed Cals Ouda and Garrett getting their money right. It wasn't the best look for our team and our fan base, but once it had already happened, well can we do about it but embrace it? And I enjoyed people taking the money to the games, the guys doing it on the sideline. So I'll add uh cals Ouda versus Garrett get your money right.

00:26:41
Speaker 2: I would like to add Vince Merrill wearing his sweatpants inside out a practice would be number seven whenever I need a good laugh. I just I woke up Vince Merril sweatpants and there they are just what goes inside out? Five on the wind well, I.

00:27:00
Speaker 3: Had Hello, Nick Rause on my list? Can I just combine it? Vent's tweeting you during the little game. I didn't like that we're losing. I didn't like that Vin gets to talk as trash. Trusts me if I could write the story myself. We're doing the trash talking, but kind of like Calzata, since it's happening. I did take a couple bit of satisfaction enjoining him.

00:27:18
Speaker 1: Dunky.

00:27:18
Speaker 2: Vince has always been a content machine, but the last year it was just one after another and the see the hat I brought today like this Uk too. Boggin's good looking. Well, there's a story behind it. I actually got it at the Governor's Cup because I you know, the first one I grabbed it was a Bucky's hat and people were roasting me because it was red. And we're playing lous and so this is the game at Kentucky, so this would be two Governor's Cups ago and so I'm sim of the sidelines and I see Florida's defensive coordinator now, Brad White, and I'm like, oh yeah, people are really ragging on me about the hat. And he's like, let me get you a new one. So while he runs off to go get me this fun little hat into a few more people on the sidelines and I'm chit chatting, and that's what I learned that Vince was going to Louisville. And I think the the part that's tricky about all this stuff is sometimes if you say something out loud, it won't happen. And that's that's what we're dealing with right now. And I initially didn't want to say anything about it at all until the following day. People who should not have known were asking me.

00:28:25
Speaker 1: If I knew.

00:28:25
Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I got to put it out there. Well, you know, ks R fake news, they're just making stuff up. We just had the timing wrong. They were waiting until later. And then when June came rolling around, I saw Vince the day before it happened, and that was like a wait, so you're being serious as time? And he was. He was being serious as a heart attack. Ended up going to Louisville and we we could sniff it out. We could sniff out that he was leaving. There was a he was the canary in the Stoops coal mine. We could feel it coming. But it's just like, well, but there's not a coaching position. How is he going to go over there? And theynuvered it around to get Vince to you know what, I don't know what his job is over there now. I don't know what his official he's the GM I I don't really know what he's doing. But hey, you know what, Vince, you got to flex, you got to wear your cardinal red, and you got out before everybody else got told to leave. So you know, he was He made the right decision.

00:29:18
Speaker 3: And I had a weird timing since I was in Mexico on my fortieth birthday and at you know, one am in the morning, we're feeling pretty good. At that point, we just start calling random people on our phone where we scroll and you have to call him. I called Vince merrily at one am from Mexico the night before you left. Had no idea what was going on. I just want to talk to him, say hi, part of a little drinking game we're playing. Didn't answer, but little did I know, he probably thought, why is Drew calling me at one am? How does he already know? Is he trying to get a quote in the middle of the night. No, Vince, I was just with the boys up the bar in Cancun and we landed on your name.

00:29:50
Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to you know. We got a little a little more time pass, but there's gonna be a fun story time podcast with that. The old regime motivated students today SEC Media Day. There's there, there's a there's a there's a longer story behind all that. That was a very interesting day.

00:30:06
Speaker 3: We gave more Vince more credit there for our Top five Moments Long Day.

00:30:09
Speaker 1: He went Top five basketball.

00:30:11
Speaker 2: Let's get to top basketball right.

00:30:13
Speaker 1: The open practice that Pope had for the media and their families. Okay, that's number five on my touch your heart stream.

00:30:19
Speaker 3: You can expand a little bit more. You have to go that fat What did you like about it?

00:30:22
Speaker 2: You took?

00:30:23
Speaker 1: I took Josiah, you know, and he is a big wide eyed you know. Get to see these guys up close and personally in a practice setting is just something we're not privy to. And and not only did I enjoy it, he really enjoyed it. Got his picture take with coach Pope. So it's kind of a good father son moment for me.

00:30:37
Speaker 3: And at that point, we still had national championship dreams.

00:30:39
Speaker 1: Amen.

00:30:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I still do. I don't wanna.

00:30:41
Speaker 3: I don't want to pooput your dreams if you're still dreaming that. But at the moment, we hadn't know anything yet.

00:30:46
Speaker 1: Number four the Colin Chandler dunk.

00:30:48
Speaker 3: Oh wow, you're over here preaching to me.

00:30:51
Speaker 1: It's one of the few times I've got up and jumped up out of my seat from a plate during the game, and it was out of no doubt. So that's number four.

00:30:59
Speaker 3: So the whole I mean, this includes all of SEC play last season, Yes, SEC tournament.

00:31:05
Speaker 1: Yes, I've got I got three more, I believe it.

00:31:07
Speaker 3: But you got Colin Chandler making the cut.

00:31:09
Speaker 1: Yes, Colin Chandler, Duck can This is my top five moments, all right? Number three beating Illinois in the NCAA Tournament to get to the sweet sixteen. That was huge. There's a lot of fun.

00:31:17
Speaker 3: It was a great one.

00:31:18
Speaker 1: Number two Lamont Butler's game against u of L coming back in journey with thirty points. What are you hit?

00:31:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't five. That's twenty twenty four. That was December.

00:31:29
Speaker 3: Ye only SEC games last year.

00:31:33
Speaker 1: That got me. Well. Then Number one was Otaga's game winner in the SEC tournament. Again, I was there with Josiah. That was just an amazing game to watch firsthand. So that was my number one.

00:31:43
Speaker 3: What how about I'll hope you out. We'll throw Lamont out?

00:31:46
Speaker 2: That was number two of number two.

00:31:47
Speaker 3: How about always other buzzer beat over Blahoma. I'll throw it in.

00:31:50
Speaker 1: I'll almost put that in my list.

00:31:51
Speaker 2: There you go there now he scored the final eighteen points for Kentucky in twenty one of the final twenty three.

00:31:56
Speaker 1: That's at Oklahoma.

00:31:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just that's amazing. And other part two about his shots. They were basically mirror images of one another, just off balance, throwing it up like, but how are you doing this? Otega? It was unreal, unreal great moments, great moments.

00:32:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm go you got more no Ill before we go to the break. I got my top five KSR moments.

00:32:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll get to those two. I was gonna add a few more basketball. The win at Knoxville, which they seem to do a lot lately, that was pretty improbable. We were shorthanded, Trent Noah came in, had a big game, he had a big three. Uh, I'm not mistaken. That's when Trent had been playing in a while. He might have gotten in like the Vandy game before that, but that was the closest thing. We called Trent Noah breakout going there and beating the top ten team in Knoxville something they've done.

00:32:43
Speaker 2: Or he got the Mountain mom and nickname he had, Yes, But actually I think that was the game that was at home. But you know, it's hard to remember all the wins over Tennessee. I mean, we don't talk about the losses.

00:32:54
Speaker 1: Uh.

00:32:54
Speaker 2: I would like to add the Weeda bix. That was just a good old I mean It wasn't like good to eat, but it was a fun if you're.

00:33:04
Speaker 3: Eating, get out of my pocket. In Annaplis we talk about I was not going to eat. I had it for like every meal.

00:33:08
Speaker 2: It's like the most Kentucky fan based story. You know, no one else would carry. Yeah, but it's like, well, we've got to buy this British cereal. Like of course we did.

00:33:16
Speaker 1: Everybody went out and tried to find it.

00:33:17
Speaker 3: I was irrationally angry at Weeda Bick's the company for not acknowledging us. I thought about flying over there to headquarters and be like, is anyone awake here, because whoever's in marketing terrible opportunity that will ever.

00:33:29
Speaker 2: Fall in their lap.

00:33:30
Speaker 3: And then like two weeks later the tournament was over. Florida's our national champion, and they're like Mary Williams, like Sweet to Bigs.

00:33:37
Speaker 1: Totally dropped the ball. They totally dropped it.

00:33:41
Speaker 2: I also would like to give Mark Pope a shout out. He was on the ball. He sent Jack Pilgrim home from the peach Jam because his wife was going into labor. He said, giants right, leave get out here, and Jack made it back with a couple hours of spare before his second kid was born. So, you know, good moment, totally normal, right, Like I used to.

00:34:00
Speaker 3: I used that recently. You know, Peach jam it's an Augusta. My babies do Master's Weekend, And I told Abby, I was like, Jack went to Augusta and drove back and made it.

00:34:08
Speaker 2: Why don't I go to the Masters?

00:34:10
Speaker 3: And if it happens to happen, there's already already an example here.

00:34:14
Speaker 2: Jack did it. He's fine, right, So that was a hard no, very very hard nough. I also have.

00:34:21
Speaker 3: Jackson Robinson at Mississippi State.

00:34:23
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was seven twenty seven points.

00:34:26
Speaker 3: Kind of one of the last moments, maybe the last moment we really got to see the best Jackson Robinson before injury took him out for the rest of the year.

00:34:34
Speaker 2: Just so many sticking injuries that cheated from him. Yeah, Ryan, what are your best KSR moments?

00:34:39
Speaker 1: Right?

00:34:39
Speaker 2: I have a personal favorite.

00:34:40
Speaker 1: Okay, I'll go in reverse order. I have like twenty of the number five the donuts show at my house by my pool. Will you guys made me eat a bunch of donuts and I threw them up. That was okay, Number four the tayd and Lorenzen show. We did it for Thomas Highlands. Tayden joined us. You were just coming back, you just lost your friend, Manny. It was kind of a emotional show. That one meant a lot to me, I think, and I appreciated that.

00:35:02
Speaker 3: Thank you, Thanks for including a show where I cried on the air.

00:35:05
Speaker 1: I appreciate that. The Whiskey Thief Halloween Show.

00:35:08
Speaker 2: Oh your costume was incredible.

00:35:10
Speaker 1: Well, we had a huge crowd, we were all dressed up. It was just kind of a good little vibe, I think, and it was a lot of fun. The weather was great, So I had to put that on the list.

00:35:18
Speaker 3: And we we really didn't know that was you and the ditcake content. We weren't playing that up. All of us were like, is that I think that's Ryan.

00:35:24
Speaker 1: When I first walked I walked in Shan and said, oh, Mike didke is here?

00:35:27
Speaker 2: Wait a minute, who is that?

00:35:28
Speaker 1: Yeah? That was Ryan.

00:35:30
Speaker 3: That wasn't exaggerating for a good story. We weren't sure that was you with that slick back here.

00:35:34
Speaker 1: Okay. My top two the pregame show we did in Indianapolis before the Tennessee game, Rocking. Remember it was we was kind of that outdoor venue and it was it was packed people up and down the sidewalk, people packed inside. That was a lot of fun. The game didn't go very well.

00:35:49
Speaker 3: Parents were there, Parents were there? Weed a bix in my pocket.

00:35:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, you were eating. We't a bit pocket weed to bicks.

00:35:55
Speaker 3: In Milwaukee, I'll add you know, it wasn't quite tin roof, but at that little market.

00:35:59
Speaker 2: We went to. Unless that's your next one.

00:36:01
Speaker 6: No.

00:36:02
Speaker 1: Number one was the London Tornado Show. We did it on a Monday morning after the tornado hit I think on a Friday night.

00:36:08
Speaker 2: Talk about emotions.

00:36:09
Speaker 1: It was man, that was that one. That one kind of hit hard with me. It kind of resonated and we got to see it firsthand and we'll meet some of the victims. It was a That's where I know our show means something. When we did like the Sandy Hook Tornado Show and the flooding show down in Eastern Kentucky, that London Tornado show meant a lot to me.

00:36:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, we had already seen the images at that point, Pope, and that some of the players are already gonna help you until we really got to see it first see how far. Yeah, it extended you out. I won't forget that. Let's take a break before we add ours. I'm already up here running and cutting it close here, but uh, Nick and I had a few more. We still have that Alabama preview. Yeah, robust Alabama preview transfer portal updates. Uh, we'll do that now. Levitt entered the portal with a do not contact tag.

00:36:48
Speaker 2: Do not contact. Miami and Oregon are also in the mix. Who coaches it? At?

00:36:56
Speaker 3: Well done? We'll keep watching the get to Alabama. We'll be right back for one more segment with Drew, Ryan, Nick Rausching, Rick and Studio. It's Speed Segment time here on KSR. One final segment with about five pages of content to get to Ryan. Who's the Speed segment?

00:37:14
Speaker 2: Brought to a spot.

00:37:15
Speaker 1: Well brought to you by surf Pro the number one choice and clean up and restoration, whether it's mold, fire storm or water damage. We've got a pro for that. We're the ones who make it like it never happened. Franchise locations all across Kentucky. We're involved with baseball events, football events, golf events. They're PGA, LPGA, the Surf Pro Firefighters Challenge. They do it all. Surf Pro go to surfpro dot com. There you go back to you, Drew.

00:37:39
Speaker 3: All right, before we add a few more moments, Rick, we've had someone holding a long time, like twenty something minutes. I can't wait, make them wait any longer. That's just rood of me. Who's up.

00:37:47
Speaker 2: It's Mike, Mike.

00:37:48
Speaker 3: I apologize. I'm doing my best here. Let's chat.

00:37:52
Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what. That's all. I sure appreciate Ryan and Drew and Nick. First of all, let me tell Nick, I was one of the fails the Saturday morning wagoners for breakfast. Really enjoyed talking with you.

00:38:04
Speaker 2: Pleasure.

00:38:05
Speaker 4: Get that out of the way. Cup things first, First of all, I watched women's game, and after after we won the game, the next best thing was watching those l s U fans with their blank looks on their faces.

00:38:19
Speaker 3: Beautiful, so excited.

00:38:22
Speaker 4: Absolutely. And the next thing is that about about color Code Bowlie. I really like him, but I want the best player at every position we can get, and I want the best quarterback that we can get. And that's that's that's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned.

00:38:39
Speaker 3: Boom, that's the right attitude. And we appreciate you hanging on and calling in. You're ranting him at Wagner's pharmacy.

00:38:45
Speaker 2: Is that a good time? Great time, great breakfast? Yeah, right next to Churchill downs, good breakfast, joy. Everything you do is right next to Churchill downs in Churchill if they'd let you. Yeah, yeah, that sounds about right. But now it's too nice, I can you know, I can't afford it too fancy type. And then I need a more seedy area, you know, give me, give me get all down trotten racetrack. Yeah.

00:39:08
Speaker 3: I might had a few seedy moments to ryns it. One I have is very recent that I want to make sure it is included.

00:39:13
Speaker 2: It's probably the best radio show.

00:39:16
Speaker 3: You know what I'm going to say, Oh yeah, was it just maybe in this room a month ago?

00:39:21
Speaker 2: The fire alarm, fire alarms going off.

00:39:24
Speaker 3: I know Matt hated it. It was so good for those that couldn't see us. I was over here with a blank, eating grin. I can't say it on radio, but I just need people to know that when KSR is an under chaos, I have this smile that you cannot wipe off my face, and it was on my face that day as Matt was yelling at the fire alarm right, Well.

00:39:41
Speaker 1: He wanted to get out of the studio and go do it somewhere. You and I are both like, no, this is radio gold.

00:39:46
Speaker 3: I want to farms. It also had Will Stein's mom. It was Will Steins, so I had to throw that one in.

00:39:56
Speaker 2: It's also when Matt you can tell the the toe he has when he's going to start one of those monologues AND's getting ready to do it. For Stein, that's when the alarms start and you just feel it. You can feel it. It takes me back to the old Eric ce Con show from a long time ago that.

00:40:14
Speaker 1: Just built and built and built. You can't you.

00:40:16
Speaker 2: Can't manufacture that emotion. It's great. It was I was. I was cackling driving back from the introductory press conference Lis into that podcast.

00:40:24
Speaker 4: So was.

00:40:25
Speaker 1: It was Amy and Matt show was that this past year.

00:40:27
Speaker 3: Also, we gotta get you on twenty twenty five. That was twenty twenty four. Okay, get on that one. A few more quick ones. Uh, you weren't there, But our trip to Buffalo and all those covers. That was Billy's first road trip. We have the suitcase, the vegetables, me keeping him and Mario from fighting.

00:40:40
Speaker 2: The shoes too. The shoes.

00:40:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, sharp dressed man. Max left this year, remember he came to Kentucky branded. I wanted to include that. Yeah, little tear giving Max hugs on the air. I enjoyed my Drew palooza. A little selfish, little self centered there.

00:40:54
Speaker 1: You would await me. You killed it that week.

00:40:56
Speaker 3: You gave me lemons and I made lemonade. Thanks to all the guests on that. And I'm also want to include when we had Archie Goodwin on and he talked about how much that meant to get to talk to the fans. It was supposed to be previewing TBT and then turn into a big moment for Archie. So I want to include those.

00:41:08
Speaker 2: I'm glad you didn't get punched after that tvt moment because it happened. Sometimes when you mix it up with the folks down on sixty four.

00:41:16
Speaker 3: They don't punch very hard though, very weak minded individuals.

00:41:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, that that one week we had Archie good Winning Khalil Whitney, they both kind of got to open up and you could tell, man, they were some repressed feelings. They were getting this talk about for the first time ever.

00:41:29
Speaker 3: And our house shows we went to Shannon's house. Yes, we went to the arcade in northern Kentucky.

00:41:34
Speaker 1: Oh, that was a good show.

00:41:35
Speaker 3: The zoo where I'll.

00:41:36
Speaker 2: Left my Nie with some zebras.

00:41:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted to include those. Now we have a minute left, let's do our Alabama pre Okay, Kentucky plays Alabama tomorrow noon ESPN KSR pregame show. Matt Jones is back nine thirty. We'll be right here getting you ready for that game. Alabama, How quickly can we do this?

00:41:51
