Speaker 1: I miss the green.

00:00:00
Speaker 2: For example, I'm already upset. When I find my ball in the bunker, I'm really upset. And when I find my.

00:00:05
Speaker 3: Ball in a Frida Egg Friday Egg, the dreaded Friday Friday, Frida Frida Egg Bride.

00:00:11
Speaker 2: Egg Lie, I'm about ready to run off the golf course.

00:00:40
Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another edition of the Friday Egg Podcast.

00:00:44
Speaker 2: We've got a Friday fore Ball.

00:00:46
Speaker 4: We've got Tron Parr from No Laying Up, DJ Pyehowski from Scratch, and we're joined by Zach Blair from independent contractor of the PGA Tour.

00:00:57
Speaker 2: Well, come on, thanks, Ay, glad to be here, zb thanks for joining me.

00:01:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, thanks for having me.

00:01:04
Speaker 2: You got it exciting then.

00:01:06
Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a lot of a lot of stuff happened out there.

00:01:09
Speaker 3: Did you have a premonition that I was going to be a bit getting another man? I was feeling pretty good, warmed up nice, and came crashing down pretty quick.

00:01:19
Speaker 6: So we were like, I feel like you want to kick off kind of how we started our day, How we how we took in the morning here.

00:01:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were up pretty late last night.

00:01:27
Speaker 4: So none of us got out to the course super early, but got out, cranked out some work and uh headed out to ten to catch ZB playing with Blaine Barber and uh Tyrone van ashwag ben As. Yeah, I always pronounced Somebody asked me how he pronounced his name, and I tell sweet, I'll sweek.

00:01:51
Speaker 2: It came out to watching yesterday I was out there.

00:01:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys weren't blame perform.

00:01:59
Speaker 2: Part of it was you got to go on when Andy got out.

00:02:01
Speaker 5: There, for sure.

00:02:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, yesterday.

00:02:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, and so we're trying to carry over a little bit of that this morning. I think. Yeah, man, our man was kind of on the cut line. Needed a dig Z plus four trying to get some good vibes going.

00:02:13
Speaker 6: What did you were loose out there? You were loose your acknowledging this pumping. Yeah, he's ready to go.

00:02:18
Speaker 2: You try to figure out what the cut's gonna be before you tee off. If you're going on the borderline, well, I.

00:02:23
Speaker 3: Mean, I feel like you always have a pretty good idea. It's usually I mean historically, if you kind of just double it, it's usually pretty close at least. So yesterday, yesterday it was at one over. I went to two looks like that's what it ended up. So it's usually fairly close.

00:02:41
Speaker 2: It's it's a good formula.

00:02:42
Speaker 4: I better apply, set up all source it off, even down to like you know, club championships, if somebody's grinding for the cut, double the cop.

00:02:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's pretty scientific.

00:02:53
Speaker 2: It's a good, good, good bit of information. So yeah, so yeah, so you go ahead.

00:02:59
Speaker 4: So yeah, he gets off the hot start.

00:03:05
Speaker 2: I'm saying three would that's an aggressive plan.

00:03:08
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:03:08
Speaker 5: I'm a big hitter. I'm a big hitter.

00:03:10
Speaker 3: So almost ran out of the fairly Yeah, I did. I caught it down Win, got a big bounce, hit lob weedge from about one oh five down Win, cut the down slope and barely missed the pie. Yeah, I mean it turned out in a perfect spot. Just barely missed the pie. Then yeah, I hit a good drive on two. Saw the no laying up crew around couldn't lay up so really good.

00:03:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, I hit it really good.

00:03:40
Speaker 2: I was excited. It's like six inches.

00:03:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I thought it would go a little more left with the wind, but just kind of caught the lip of the bunker and had a pretty straightforward bunker shot. Hit it up there to about ten feet made it, and then you know, same mindset on twelve. So laying up guys out there watching can't hit on her and off the tee.

00:04:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to. I don't want to stay your short hair because I think you're one of the longer ones out there. But it seems like you hit it. Yeah you pounded that one on sixty.

00:04:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, I hit a couple of good ones.

00:04:16
Speaker 3: But I mean anytime it's firm and fast, I mean, I definitely can keep it up out there.

00:04:21
Speaker 4: But so on twelve, it seems like the shorter hitters are going for it and the longer guys are laying up.

00:04:29
Speaker 2: It was weird.

00:04:30
Speaker 3: I don't know, it was kind of a weird setup. I mean people were hitting like seven iron off the tee, so it was I mean, you know, there was plenty of room out there, and it wasn't that bad of a play. It was a good wind both days kind of had a little help. It was blowing off the left, so the water wasn't really in play, I don't think. I mean yesterday, I think like one guy hit in the water, so really worst Like back right, you almost.

00:04:55
Speaker 2: Fell into the water.

00:04:56
Speaker 3: I did almost fall into the water. That would have been a I mean pretty equivalent to my nine today.

00:05:02
Speaker 2: So it seemed like.

00:05:03
Speaker 4: You had just a lot of things just the bald and fall in or bounce the wrong way.

00:05:10
Speaker 6: Were talking, we were talking about that, and it's like it's cool, you know, you get so into the habit of like following the leaders, following the big names, falling off stuff, and it's like going out and watching you three today.

00:05:20
Speaker 2: And like Lane was around the lead for a while, Like it's just so cool.

00:05:24
Speaker 6: How many stories are out there, Like there's one hundred and thirty stories out there every day that like nobody sees because they ever, you know, they're following this.

00:05:31
Speaker 7: You're what you see on the scoreboard like oh, home wish on seventy four, whole wish on seventy six, Like there's no contact to it. And then when you walk all day with somebody, you're like, man.

00:05:43
Speaker 6: That could have been totally it's a seventy four where it could be a seventy four where nothing went in and everything lived out and you got you almost fallen in the water all that stuff, or it could be seventy four where you're just rolling into ten photers for.

00:05:54
Speaker 2: Par all day.

00:05:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, like you have no idea what it's just I don't know if anyone's going to a tournament.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: Like I cannot stress.

00:06:00
Speaker 6: Enough how good it is to just get out and like just get away from the grounds, like just go follow, like just go follow three, like just follow three normal dudes, and just like that sets your baseline for how the courses playing.

00:06:13
Speaker 2: Like I was on trounic I learned learn more about the course.

00:06:16
Speaker 6: Watching today like I have in the last couple of years, just following kind of the feature groups.

00:06:22
Speaker 2: Everybody's tripping all over each other, and yeah, it's a mess. I think you see the ebbs and flows arounds like.

00:06:27
Speaker 4: You know, like Blaine on on eleven, like he had, you know, the layup, he had that bad third shot and then he made.

00:06:35
Speaker 2: Like a fifteen foot that was a huge putt for his round. Like granted, like the round did turn out the way.

00:06:40
Speaker 4: He wanted to do, but like it kept his momentum, Like you made some really big part putts in that stretch before before getting to seventeen.

00:06:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know where it seemed like that kept the momentum golf for sure.

00:06:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I made that good one on fifteen and fourteen kind of you know, like twelve fifteen footers for par and those are kind of the things that keep the round going. And you know blame you know, like you said, he made that big putt on eleven that you know, obviously his day didn't turn out how he wanted, but it could have went a little south early. But sometimes you gotta make those pots.

00:07:13
Speaker 2: How much do you pay attention to your playing partner? I mean, I know it's a different situation this week.

00:07:18
Speaker 7: Your buddy's are playing, but like how much do you pay attention to what the other guys around you're doing just to just for conversation or just or do you just try to.

00:07:28
Speaker 3: Focus on your own Yeah, I mean you kind of got to play it by ear a little bit.

00:07:31
Speaker 5: You know.

00:07:32
Speaker 3: Obviously, people i mean most people, if they're playing bad, aren't gonna be as chatty or whatever. But yeah, I mean I like to chat it up a little bit with the guys out there if people are playing well. It's it's always obviously nice to have groups where everyone's kind of vibing off each other and you got the positive momentum. But you know, we definitely didn't have that today to talk about seventeen, Yeah, well, let's dive in.

00:07:58
Speaker 7: Sixteen though, I'm sorry fifteen your second shot in there?

00:08:03
Speaker 2: That was just crazy? How the wind right?

00:08:08
Speaker 3: Man? I you know, I towed one down a little bit thinking the wind was going to take it, and I was kind of right in between clubs where I had to hit that one good. I mean, I was like one ninety five or something. I was just trying to hit a six iron on the green and yeah, it just didn't turn. But that's kind of just how the week went. Just it was kind of like a fluky what.

00:08:27
Speaker 2: Are your what are your stock yardages for irons?

00:08:32
Speaker 5: I don't really know, to be honest.

00:08:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a field a field play well plus yeah.

00:08:40
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean I played not at altitude more so. I mean, but it totally depends.

00:08:44
Speaker 3: You know. If if I had to like put a number on it, it would be like seven irons, go like one sixty five and then I just kind.

00:08:52
Speaker 2: Of and it's hot. It was hot.

00:08:54
Speaker 3: It was a ball dumping, yeah, I mean every week, you know, it kind of you know, berries depending on how hot it is, you know what altitude you're aft. So it's kind of hard to have a stock number. That's why you get the track man out like DJ and get it all dialed in.

00:09:12
Speaker 2: Is a track man?

00:09:14
Speaker 5: I've heard that.

00:09:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, do you have a track man? Negative field play field player?

00:09:20
Speaker 2: You're not even big data.

00:09:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, shout out to Qualtricks, the friend of the pot.

00:09:34
Speaker 6: So if you had like one hundred and thirty seven to an island green wind blowing.

00:09:39
Speaker 3: Off off the left, bold did I would pull out the nine then go back to the bag for the eight. And uh yeah, man, I mean honestly, I had just made birdie off sixteen right up and down, you know, make a nice like eight footer, and you go to that hole, you know, you go to seventeen knowing that you're gonna have some adrenaline kind of pumping, and.

00:10:02
Speaker 5: I mean it's nice. Nice crowd. Yeah, nice crowd.

00:10:08
Speaker 3: Exactly. Yeah, So I'm in, you know. I mean Blaine didn't hit his best shot of the day obviously, and his ended up going in the water, and that kind of affected my club choice a little bit.

00:10:23
Speaker 2: But I mean, you hit it short.

00:10:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, he hit it.

00:10:26
Speaker 2: A little when when kind of floated.

00:10:28
Speaker 3: And the whole IVY league out to the right, and so I got up there and.

00:10:34
Speaker 2: Just one IVY league is we got. We got a little crowds like Saturday left. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, like the Neil just walked in. There's some people walking in and out of the spot.

00:10:46
Speaker 5: It's a good uh, it's a good.

00:10:49
Speaker 2: Atmosphere, commune. Yeah.

00:10:51
Speaker 3: The IVY League is just kind of like the high pop up right, real safe shot, real smart shot, very real shot. Usually it doesn't get you in trouble too often because it landsoft, yeah, landsoft. But obviously at the island green with water all around, it wasn't you know, it wasn't great. And so I sat up there and we were just trying to hit it kind of in the middle of the green.

00:11:11
Speaker 5: I had told Andy my caddy, not not this Andy, not.

00:11:16
Speaker 3: This Andy, Andy Martinez my caddy, Like, just let's hit it in the middle of the green, not on the top shelf. And if it bounces up, that's great, but let's just kind of get out of here. It's a tough hole today with the wind, and I mean I flagged one right at it.

00:11:31
Speaker 5: Never thought that it wasn't going.

00:11:33
Speaker 3: To be right in the middle, and man just got the gust of the day and ended up coming up short.

00:11:41
Speaker 5: And yeah, it was pretty sad.

00:11:43
Speaker 2: All right, so it was it was a tin cup like moment. And if you recall.

00:11:50
Speaker 3: From the guys all three you guys, yeah we all hit yeah I think right, yeah, and those.

00:11:57
Speaker 2: Who go to the drop zone and you wanted to hang back, So why would I had?

00:12:01
Speaker 3: I mean, it was such a good number, you know, I just got that huge gust and it. You know, that was the only reason my first one, I think thought didn't turn out good. And I mean I was just really comfortable with the number. I had hit a couple of balls from the drop zone earlier in the week, just messing around and didn't love love the shot with the wind and with the pin, and uh, you know.

00:12:24
Speaker 5: I knew I needed to play well.

00:12:26
Speaker 3: So I was kind of what are the good pins from that drop zone? Like the front pins? Yeah, yeah, I mean Sunday.

00:12:34
Speaker 2: Is it like like, oh, it's so hard.

00:12:38
Speaker 5: It's kind of like.

00:12:40
Speaker 2: Sunday one is back right like right behind the bunker.

00:12:42
Speaker 8: I feel like, for me, at least, the the drop zone, I feel like you're almost kind of conceding making bogie a little bit, especially to like the back pins because it's pretty firm and the wind was weird, you know, so I just thought I had such a good number, and I was pretty confident and felt good about the shot that I could hit one in there close.

00:13:06
Speaker 3: And I mean my second one, I flagged it. I thought I was gonna make it. You know, I had I had the Tiger Woods heartbeat going, you know when you when you flag one on the video game.

00:13:15
Speaker 2: They were playing Tiger Woods.

00:13:17
Speaker 3: I saw that.

00:13:18
Speaker 5: I saw that. Yeah, I mean I didn't ate better than me.

00:13:23
Speaker 2: So that's oh, here's what we didn't do. Last year.

00:13:26
Speaker 6: Russell Knox made a nine eleven eleven, he made eleven.

00:13:32
Speaker 2: Maybe I think it was a thing. It was an eleven.

00:13:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't no period. Oh yeah, I saw that I had the high score.

00:13:42
Speaker 2: On seventeen Russell made. I think it was maybe look it up. We'll look it up. They had research department.

00:13:49
Speaker 4: Will get on figuring our.

00:13:55
Speaker 2: Sponsored back qual tricks.

00:13:56
Speaker 6: So this year, this year, we said to video game on seventy and he came out and played with us. Saw that, so you should you should do that next year.

00:14:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll try and squeeze that in shoot We got the shootout, so it'll be tough to this week.

00:14:10
Speaker 2: You know, it's it's disappointing you're to be going, but this week's all about the shootout.

00:14:13
Speaker 9: It is it is?

00:14:13
Speaker 3: I mean, at the end of the day, you know, I couldn't get it done in the shootout, but and missed the cut.

00:14:19
Speaker 2: So do you want to talk about the shootout real quick?

00:14:22
Speaker 1: I have a question for what it is.

00:14:23
Speaker 2: I mean, I have a question.

00:14:26
Speaker 6: You know, I guess we got a shootout agreed for the shootout coming up sponsored.

00:14:32
Speaker 3: Sponsored by qual Tricks.

00:14:33
Speaker 2: I think that your your wokeness to you know.

00:14:38
Speaker 4: Strategy dangles with angles and with was the reason that you didn't go to the drop.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Zone with everybody else?

00:14:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I could play a part in that.

00:14:48
Speaker 2: But you're too concerned with you.

00:14:53
Speaker 1: I like that a game.

00:14:56
Speaker 2: On some level, you're probably just respecting the architect too much. Yeah, I mean slapping the face and the drops in it is. What do you think about the changes overall?

00:15:05
Speaker 3: Oh?

00:15:05
Speaker 2: Good? Yeah, litigating seventeen. So the crowd got behind me.

00:15:12
Speaker 3: Okay, So I hit the first one in the water, and you know, the crowd saw that I stayed, uh you know in the tin cup zone. They respected that. Yeah, and yeah, they got behind me. And then when I dunked the second one, in the water. They got even more behind me. I mean they started cheering Zach, Zach, Zach. Then I knocked another one in, so that hurt. Then I went down to the nine iron and thought, if I didn't get this one on the green, I might just run out of balls and just dive in that.

00:15:45
Speaker 2: That you know, you hit awesome second shot.

00:15:48
Speaker 1: I did, And then I went back out to seventeen and just saw that like if you landed anything near or pin high, it was just like it was.

00:15:56
Speaker 9: Like a and I land.

00:15:58
Speaker 3: Yeah. I knew that going into I mean I had seen a couple of shots, like when I was eating lunch on PGA Tour Live that yeah, yeah, And so I mean I had seen some guys that obviously hit it higher than me and probably have some more spin, even having troubles kind of keeping it on that top shelf. So that's kind of why I was hitting, you know, trying to hit that shot like twelve on and just I mean, yeah, definitely was giving a lot of respect to the hall so killed me.

00:16:33
Speaker 2: And then didn't respect me back. It didn't would be most crazy would you do there? We saw furik pump pump. I don't know that I've seen somebody.

00:16:44
Speaker 7: It was.

00:16:44
Speaker 2: I think it was playing as the like the hardest.

00:16:46
Speaker 5: One said that I saw that somewhere. I saw like.

00:16:51
Speaker 3: I saw like twenty nine balls in the water or something like that or more. That's what I mean.

00:16:55
Speaker 5: That's a lot, yeah, I think, or.

00:16:57
Speaker 3: Something like that.

00:16:58
Speaker 2: The average tournament, no, yeah, yeah.

00:17:00
Speaker 3: Someone said a win last year. It's a tough hole with the wind that come.

00:17:05
Speaker 2: Up with it over under for total love and water. So the average over the last like ten years was you know.

00:17:10
Speaker 4: What I mean I found interesting today is that the top players, they set them up well at the players because they they go early morning off ten like the featured groups, so they get they get seventeen in the morning whatever either day, so they're always off ten early and then they played one in the afternoon.

00:17:33
Speaker 2: Some t off one in the afternoon. So then they come through late afternoon, last wind. It's not always it calms down.

00:17:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's just a small nuance.

00:17:47
Speaker 7: I realized you're waiting the conspiracy theory game this week we talk about I'll tell you that the blimp was what I think got me on on seventeen.

00:17:56
Speaker 5: It was a low flying blimp, right, did you guys hear that.

00:18:00
Speaker 2: It heard the buzzing.

00:18:02
Speaker 10: I've never heard such a such a general news to society is.

00:18:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, zeppelins coming back against the players.

00:18:13
Speaker 5: I think you know.

00:18:14
Speaker 3: My friends had sent me something last week. They were like, man, you were playing the Part three's great this year. I think my scoring average was like two point nine to eight. I screwed that one up this week. Yeah. Yeah, the nine on seventeen seventeen and the six eight.

00:18:30
Speaker 2: Big check of the strategy for how you can't get it. It's actually, you know what means the average?

00:18:36
Speaker 3: The mean not as good.

00:18:38
Speaker 2: I am a more of a median, much more median. Yeah, because that gets rid of the outliers.

00:18:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, more, no more big data qual tricks.

00:18:49
Speaker 2: What's your all?

00:18:50
Speaker 3: Right?

00:18:50
Speaker 2: So I heard one of the weirdest things not weird. One of the weirdest things I heard was a couple of years ago, Jason Day led the.

00:18:57
Speaker 11: Tour in scoring scoring average on Part three and someone's asking at the end of the year, like, why why do you lead the tour in scoring average on Part three? And he was like, oh, He's like, I don't ever go for pins on par three.

00:19:09
Speaker 6: He's like, unless it unless it's you know, seventeen down the stretch and I have to hit He's like, I just into the middle of the green pretty much every time.

00:19:17
Speaker 2: And if I make it, I make it. If I make three, like I just I never make four, I never make five.

00:19:21
Speaker 3: Like, Yeah, par three's I think are super crucial. I mean, you always you always see it. Guys that play the par three's good seem to have nice finishes because I mean they're just you know, for whatever reason, everyone plays the par fives and part four is pretty similar. And uh, Part three's I think are big key.

00:19:42
Speaker 4: I think they kind of symbolize like how you're hitting your irons also because like they're a good accurate representation of your ball striking because they're typically flat flat, lie a little bit tougher than like, you know, for especially for longer hitters. You know, they're longer shots than they're used to seeing, like they're good.

00:20:01
Speaker 12: Yeah, exactly, They're a good determinant of like how strong your iron play is. Is part three, like if you're playing, if you're not, if you're scraping the ball around, you're gonna play the.

00:20:11
Speaker 2: Part three's bad.

00:20:12
Speaker 3: Well, yeah, because you see, like you know, the big hitters out there, they're hitting at like three twenty, a lot of holes. They're getting like short wedges in whatever, you know, even if they hit it in the rough, kind of just gouging it out. Then they get up to a par three and it's like two hundred yards. It's like they don't get their advantage of hitting it past everybody.

00:20:32
Speaker 2: Exactly. Let's talk about the course out How good is so good?

00:20:35
Speaker 5: I mean, like the best I've ever seen any setup ever you sit.

00:20:41
Speaker 2: You would fight thousand dollars to.

00:20:44
Speaker 3: Make the cut, to make the cut, to somehow be thrown in to make the cut. Yeah, I mean it was so I just want to play it again. It's so good, that's I mean, what.

00:20:53
Speaker 6: Do you look it's like when it's that good like that? What what's different against the bad week?

00:20:58
Speaker 3: Well, I mean it's just the way the ball is kind of reacting to everything. You know, good shots are reacting nice, you know, they stop, you know, they're they're running out. But if you hit a bad shot, they really are taking off, and the fairways are running out and the greens are perfect, you know, I mean the whole course is just ridiculous.

00:21:18
Speaker 7: All right, So you step up to eighteen t you're not told to day Yeah after making Yeah, like during what when all this is transpiring, did did did did the decision make you kind of speed up for you during it all?

00:21:34
Speaker 2: Like did it fly by? Or was it just like like like after the first or second one goes in the water, You're like, screw it, I probably missed the cut At this point, I can I feel like you should clear up one thing. People, many people are saying, just people, We're saying that Andy was trying to keep you. Now you gotta clear this up.

00:21:54
Speaker 5: Yeah, somebody, somebody asked us that after the round too.

00:21:58
Speaker 3: They were like, yeah, I saw after this second one one in the water, Andy wouldn't get a ball out. And I mean we were just kind of slowing down a little bit to try and figure out what we should do. But I mean he was fine with it. I mean I knew going into the hole, I mean, going into the round today that I kind of, you know, I needed a good round with no mistakes really, So I mean after you hit the second one in the water, it's kind of like days over basically.

00:22:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, So I got a question.

00:22:26
Speaker 1: You know, I don't want to take this off subject, but I want to hear about your caddy and his back his like back ali backhunting games.

00:22:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a he's a pretty uh. I mean he loves backgammon. He always talks about it. I'm like, yo, Andy, where are you are? Like, I'm at the course. He's like, I'm at a coffee shop, like, got a backgammon game going on. I was like, I was like, yo, we got like a practice round, let's get over here.

00:22:54
Speaker 2: Does he like set it? Does he find him out of Craigslist?

00:22:57
Speaker 1: I don't know.

00:22:57
Speaker 3: I think there's kind of like I think there's a I think there's a big like a network. Yeah, yeah, of backgammon players every town he goes in. You know, he's got his games like oh yeah, I don't. I mean I think he plays. I think with people he plays with, you know, their equal, uh talent level. So I wouldn't really consider him a hustler. But yeah, yeah, oh yeah, yeah, it's the most like yeah, oh for sure. I mean any game with any game with dice is you know, has luck involved. But I mean it's like it's more strategic and mathematical than like chess. I mean I watch every once in a while. I mean I play every once in a while. I'm not like, I'm not great.

00:23:44
Speaker 2: So is it like when you get so like I suck chess? Yeah, and when I get in the ring with anybody that knows anything about chess, they just they not me.

00:23:53
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:23:53
Speaker 5: Yeah. Backgammon is the same way.

00:23:55
Speaker 3: I mean, unless somebody like just rolls the dice unbelievable, a good player will beat you every time.

00:24:02
Speaker 2: You know, It's kind of like golf.

00:24:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, for sure.

00:24:07
Speaker 2: So uh, you know with the setup, you know, over the weekend.

00:24:10
Speaker 3: To the golf, I like him.

00:24:12
Speaker 2: We talked enough. And when you do a separate podcast with your d.

00:24:20
Speaker 3: Yeah for sure.

00:24:25
Speaker 4: Does how many times around does he say he used to be on the bag for Johnny Miller?

00:24:31
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:24:32
Speaker 2: So how many times around does he say, you know, you know, well Johnny did this?

00:24:38
Speaker 4: Because you know, if Johnny was on your bag, he would probably just say, you know, well I would do this.

00:24:44
Speaker 3: I mean, I wouldn't say he goes into it like that, but he definitely brings stuff up like good stuff. It's nice to have somebody on the bag that has had that much success and won that many times with you know, guys like Johnny Miller and Tom like, So, I mean, I don't think there's ever like a situation that we've been in where he hasn't been in with one of those guys. So it's like, I think the first like fifteen tournaments he caddied for me, or's ten tournaments or something like that, he had won that event with one of those guys, you know what I mean. So he's like, you know, you're walking down the ninth pole or something, he's like, you know, Johnny one time hit like a you know, he got mad at me because I gave him a one thirty five number and I told him it was a pitching wedge and he wanted to hit a nine to the back right flag and he ended up hitting wedge to like twelve feet below the pin, and it was like that was the wrong club.

00:25:36
Speaker 5: Should have hit nine.

00:25:37
Speaker 3: You know, he's got all these stories, so it's cool to hear he's had an epic yardage book then, like with all this stuff or does he just remember it? I think both? But yeah, I mean, I mean, I don't think there's anyone really out there that's caddied as much as him, you know, maybe two or three guys years. Yeah, forty eight years.

00:25:59
Speaker 2: So, I mean, beach, what's his best Johnny story?

00:26:04
Speaker 3: It's too many. I mean every course, every course you play, there's numbers. But one thing, you know, you always hear people talk about like how he did half yardages, but that's that's that's false, and he always you know, corrects people. They're like, oh, I heard you gave Johnny Miller half yardages and he goes, no, no, I got half yardages on the greens and that's what he did. So like a pin if it was like eleven from the right, but he thought it was like eleven and a half. So that's where that whole story got.

00:26:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense.

00:26:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, yea.

00:26:41
Speaker 2: His attention to detail must be amazing.

00:26:44
Speaker 6: Because like we were talking after the round and like four different times you're telling the story and he's like, yeah, so we're like.

00:26:52
Speaker 2: You know, we're on a whole six six I had one. I'm like, you know, I'm like, I'm this close to the bunker.

00:27:02
Speaker 1: Was actually this.

00:27:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very like, very exact. I'm definitely you know, not quite like I remember, Mike. Yeah, I remember my first year out here. I was like, so what is it like one forty five? And he's like no, it's one forty four. And I was like, bro, what's the difference. It was like, you think, like anyone can hit it that like perfect, and he was like, well, yeah, Johnny Miller can. But no, he's He's definitely pays attention and it's nice to have somebody on the bag that you know does work that hard and kind of knows all that stuff.

00:27:32
Speaker 2: Here's a real quick take for you guys can get your reaction Johnny Miller.

00:27:36
Speaker 6: I think because he does TV, I think people completely disregard.

00:27:41
Speaker 5: How good of a player it is, Oh for sure, Oh my gosh.

00:27:44
Speaker 3: Well yeah, he was like a story yeah, yeah.

00:27:50
Speaker 7: Talking about when back when Johnny played Oakmont and then Augusta when he used to yeah, clubs, caddies, Yeah, and he would you walk around out there. Yeah.

00:28:04
Speaker 3: I mean the crazy thing, I know, people have their opinions on Johnny Miller, and you know, you see stuff on Twitter all maybe more, yeah, but I mean there's definitely people out there that, you know, I don't like him. I know a lot of golfers don't like him. And the thing that always like baffles me is these players like think that he wasn't good or something like that. I mean he was amazing. I had Tom Watson. I was playing with Tom Watson at Harbortown one time and he hands down told me Johnny Miller from I don't know what years it was, but there was like a three year stretch said he was the best player to ever playing.

00:28:47
Speaker 2: DJ.

00:28:49
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:28:49
Speaker 5: Well, I mean that's over stretch, the greatest player whole time.

00:28:54
Speaker 3: Yeah. But I mean these people, like you know, Johnny Is gets a little you know, critic sometimes and you know, we'll be like, man, you can't hit it in the water there, blah blah blah. But like or talking about choking or whatever. But he's been there and done that. It's not like he hasn't he choked. Yeah, he's been.

00:29:13
Speaker 2: He's seen both sides. He's a truth speaker. He's a truth.

00:29:17
Speaker 5: Exactly exactly so.

00:29:18
Speaker 3: And the thing about it is when you hit it like most of like ninety nine percent of the time, I would say, when you hit a bad shot, like you choked, like in some form, you know, in some way execute, Yeah, you didn't do what you were supposed to do. So he's not saying like, man, you choked, you suck. He's saying, like, you didn't do what you were supposed to do there you choked. He's just being honest and people.

00:29:39
Speaker 13: I think it's also the best TV. Yeah, it just makes it so much more like real to watch, yeah, when it's just not kind of run through all the like filters and kind of exactly.

00:29:50
Speaker 5: I mean, I went to dinner.

00:29:51
Speaker 3: I was at dinner with him the other He's for sure like one of the top five most knowledgeable people about golf in the world.

00:29:58
Speaker 5: And to hear his his stories are unbelievable.

00:30:01
Speaker 3: Like at dinner the other night, he always has, you know, these stories about the way he practiced or the you know, all this crazy stuff. So it's it's really cool to you know, be able to know him and just like hear all this stuff. How he practice, Well, he was talking about we were at dinner with me, Tony Finow and Daniel Summer Hayes and there's the Utah and he was, you know, he was talking about how how he used to practice to get his club face you know, where he wanted it, and you know, he said, you know, he would practice like getting it square and then getting it open a little bit, and then getting it shut, and he said he could get it down to like a sixteenth of an inch or something like that, where he wanted it an impact to be able to hit all these shots. And people think he's like crazy sometimes when he says this stuff, like on TV or in clinics, But like I mean from the stories and the the records of his is and you know, having Andy tell me all this stuff, like, I mean, it's all true. I mean he was unbelievable.

00:31:05
Speaker 2: Have you ever thought of your club face? I don't pay no.

00:31:10
Speaker 3: People always ask me. Yeah, I'm like the worst when people are like, so, how do you like hit a drammer? Like how do you hit a cut?

00:31:16
Speaker 2: And I'm like, it's like dust just the most important thing you do when you're hitting the phase, you gotta fade it.

00:31:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's true.

00:31:32
Speaker 7: Yeah. And he was telling the story on the regular day about like he was the nineteen seventy five Masters and said one of the best ones ever.

00:31:39
Speaker 1: He said, Johnny Johnny didn't make it because they couldn't have their own caddies.

00:31:44
Speaker 7: So like Johnny missed I don't know, like five or six puts in the front nine, like within eight feet of the hole.

00:31:50
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:31:51
Speaker 2: And that was back in the day when the caddies.

00:31:52
Speaker 3: To line him up right, line you up and stay there. So Andy always talks about it. It was like having you know, instant feedback on what he was doing, you know. So he would sit there and be like, all right, like you know, let's go left edge, And so the caddy could just sit there and watch what you're doing on the stroke, and if you missed it, he'd just be like, yeah, you know, you pulled it. Because now you know, you kind of can get an idea from your caddy or whoever's watching, like, yeah, you just you kind of hit a bad part, you pushed it. But back then you could sit there and instantly know exactly what happened. Go back to the round today, so you wrapping back around shipped to well, first.

00:32:32
Speaker 2: Of all, he had a really nice recovery on eighteen. I know, yeah you were close, but that yeah, that's the green.

00:32:43
Speaker 12: I know.

00:32:44
Speaker 3: It was just playing the courses, playing so fast and getting those balance.

00:32:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, eighteen is like such a good hole.

00:32:53
Speaker 3: Sixteen seventeen eighteen could be the coolest three hole stretch ever, and especially to end a golf tournament as big as the Players Championship, It's ridiculous.

00:33:02
Speaker 9: I've heard a lot of hype, you know, and I'm always someone that you know, I when I hear hype, I'm like, oh yeah, and I haven't been out there.

00:33:16
Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, many of the best three gold stretch so good. Yeah, eighteen unbelievable.

00:33:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean I think sixteen and seventeen are unbelievable too. I mean, you hit, you hit a good shot.

00:33:28
Speaker 2: How hard is it to gauge the wind? On seventeen it seemed like the flags, every flag was bowling in a different direction today.

00:33:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's wild.

00:33:36
Speaker 5: I mean I'm not the best person to ask, obviously, that was.

00:33:42
Speaker 2: A good question. So go back around. So you you uh, you chipped off the green?

00:33:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean eight yeah, part of three test. Yeah, yeah, exactly. The pin was tucked over the right bunker on eight and it's like two thirty the left side of it, not the right. There's a huge mound kind of on the right that comes off that bunker. You probably can't see it as good on TV or whatever, but I hit a foe iron and I was just trying to kind of hit it in the middle of the green and two putt or whatever, and my ball got like an inch on the green on the right front edge, And I mean I had this seven foot hill that I had to go over, and yeah, I had to chip it. And I saw somebody about three feet away chipped it as well. They took a nice healthy divot out of the green.

00:34:35
Speaker 11: Oh yeah, dude, I.

00:34:36
Speaker 3: Just nipped this thing so hard it was ridiculous. Even Blaine was like, man, right when you hit that, I knew that was good. Hit it to about like six feet and cashed it to stay it to stay it eight over.

00:34:48
Speaker 2: It was Does that technically count as a putt?

00:34:52
Speaker 5: Probably?

00:34:52
Speaker 2: Statistics do it.

00:34:53
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:34:54
Speaker 2: Probably.

00:34:55
Speaker 6: I think it's all like shola, Yeah, it's all big data.

00:34:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all big shout out to qualtricks cultures.

00:35:01
Speaker 2: You need to take a qualtricks breaking.

00:35:08
Speaker 3: Somebody the I was doing an interview the other day, like, uh, I don't know who it was for, but they were like, do you want to uh do you want to shout out your your sponsors? You know, I give this like fifteen minute interview and they're like, do you want to shout out your sponsors? And I was like, it's kind of like an awkward question. It's like, well, I mean, how are you going to say now, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:35:34
Speaker 2: So if you could change one thing at Sawgrass, what would it be.

00:35:40
Speaker 3: I don't know, not much. I mean the course is so good. It gives you plenty of there are there are a lot of birdie holes out there. The par fives are super gettable, pretty good mixture of par three's. It's a little brutal with with Yeah, it's pretty like tight off the tee, pretty castrophobic, and the green is pretty severe, especially.

00:36:05
Speaker 5: With how firm they get this tournament.

00:36:07
Speaker 3: Like but I mean it tests you, you know, it kind of tests how patient you're willing to be because those back right pins you have to just hit it in the middle of the green and just try and make like a twenty or thirty footer because no one can get it close.

00:36:20
Speaker 2: So what's your take on four? Four?

00:36:22
Speaker 3: Four is awesome? Such a good hole.

00:36:25
Speaker 2: What do you hit off the tea?

00:36:26
Speaker 5: That driver everywhere?

00:36:27
Speaker 3: Driver, driver everywhere. It's like, shoot, yeah, the best piece of advice I ever got out on tour my first year. My first year, I was playing the Byron Nelson with Jerry Kelly and he saw me hitting like a couple like hybrids or three woods off the tee and I'm a fairly straight hitter of the ball and he came up to me after the round and was like, dude, you need to hit driver more. And I was like why, and he goes, that's your one advantage. You hit the driver really good. And so you know, when most people on these tight holes are laying back with three woods or three irons or whatever off the tee, you can hit driver down there and then that's your advantage. You can get wedges in and short irons and they're laying back and hitting you know, mid to long irons in and that's where you really need to take advantage. So that was a shout out to Jerry Kelly for Oh he's so cool.

00:37:23
Speaker 2: I love Jerry Hully. Besides all the Utah guys, who who else has been exceptionally cool.

00:37:32
Speaker 3: Everyone's been really nice. To be honest, I've never had any problems with anybody. I mean, that's the one thing that I was really surprised with was just how nice and cool everybody was.

00:37:45
Speaker 5: It's been pretty, uh pretty nice.

00:37:49
Speaker 2: Should we go overrated and underrated? I think we should go around the horn over it underrated? Everyone has one. Everybody has one exact This is it's a new segment. You have to you haven't been on.

00:38:00
Speaker 1: You can go, you can go, you can go.

00:38:01
Speaker 2: Lest you know, overrated and underrated.

00:38:07
Speaker 5: I'll lead it off. I'll lead it off the Buck Club logo, overrated, underrated?

00:38:12
Speaker 2: Which one.

00:38:14
Speaker 3: The TVC logo?

00:38:15
Speaker 5: Confusion. Yeah, the TVC is the only one. Overrated?

00:38:19
Speaker 3: Underrated.

00:38:21
Speaker 4: You know, it hasn't hit mainstream appeal yet, so I'm gonna say underrated.

00:38:25
Speaker 3: Still still, Yeah, you cut out. Yeah, we're down, We're done for now.

00:38:33
Speaker 2: I don't want to sound I don't want to. I don't want this to be a bunch of it. I don't want it to be a bunch of yes men you want you want to hear it.

00:38:40
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think it's underrated.

00:38:42
Speaker 1: Still.

00:38:43
Speaker 2: I love the I'm not usually into the like it's a little big.

00:38:48
Speaker 7: I would say it's overrated because it's a little it's a little too big.

00:38:52
Speaker 5: It's the tour version though, you need the you know what, kind of reminds a lot of the you need to make it.

00:38:57
Speaker 2: Like a lot of players are creating their own logos where it's.

00:39:00
Speaker 5: Just like some of the some of the players, some of the love you.

00:39:05
Speaker 2: Make if you can make the tea, the B and C all into one character. Who are you referring to?

00:39:11
Speaker 5: Who you're referring to here?

00:39:14
Speaker 1: People?

00:39:14
Speaker 6: People can look it up.

00:39:16
Speaker 2: We might be drinking beer. Uh yeah, I'll stay underrated.

00:39:22
Speaker 6: I do like I like this trues look like the timquonas one though it doesn't look like it always confuses me.

00:39:31
Speaker 2: Fantastic early, you know what. I think the one thing you can root up on is put like make this into like an antler somehow little right there, like handler, just a little antler.

00:39:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that.

00:39:50
Speaker 2: I like the off I really like the flagpole.

00:39:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, there's some good ones, all right, the presidents you asking me?

00:40:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, just everyway underrated. It's great. I don't know that's the guy employed by it for overrated. I'm out on an exhibition golf. Here's what I'll say about it.

00:40:17
Speaker 6: There are some elements of it that are drastically superior, as in the way the way that they choose teams and the way.

00:40:25
Speaker 2: That it's captain versus captain.

00:40:27
Speaker 6: That is like very similar to what we did at talk about last night, where it's like I want to see who you're putting out, and then I know who I want to.

00:40:33
Speaker 2: Put out like that's so much better than the Rider.

00:40:35
Speaker 10: Here's why I'm out on it, really out on it right now. Liberty National, it just offends me. But they're having a world will worn you know how much it costs and to be.

00:40:47
Speaker 2: A Liberty National heaping pile of garbage, just like a half a million dollars, Bob Cup. I just don't think you got a proper.

00:40:58
Speaker 6: Piece of land to work with anyone, anyone who's out of the President's cup.

00:41:01
Speaker 2: Like what I would say is, hey, like the first week of October, Like, would you rather just not beyond Like it's such a dumb take to be out of the President's kind of like you should use you guys.

00:41:18
Speaker 3: You just you changed my mind.

00:41:20
Speaker 2: Really, I'm just saying you can't change my mind.

00:41:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. I mean, would you rather not have anything going on? Underrated people say the same thing about the like thefect the playoffs.

00:41:30
Speaker 7: Well, when when you make a president's roster, I'm gonna be rooting for the internationals because.

00:41:37
Speaker 4: They need to start stacking up some Wow, he's he's actually rooting for the international man.

00:41:43
Speaker 2: It's like his year long thing. Oh I want that, Like we need to make a competitive it needs to be a what's the what's the rocker?

00:41:51
Speaker 3: Like the last it's not good, not good?

00:41:56
Speaker 2: US is one like seven a row.

00:41:58
Speaker 3: That the international kind of had it locked up a couple of a couple of years ago, right when it was in Korea.

00:42:06
Speaker 5: Korea.

00:42:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, the US kind of they kind of choked.

00:42:10
Speaker 5: Well no, no, that's what I'm saying, the international kind of he.

00:42:14
Speaker 3: Had a.

00:42:16
Speaker 2: Number one player in the world, wash and four over bad not good, not good. So I'm gonna say the President's Cup is underrated. I'm riding for the President this year. I want you back to the number to TVC.

00:42:32
Speaker 3: Are we done with that?

00:42:33
Speaker 2: He's got it, got it all off your chest? All right? I'm gonna say number number nine that TPS of stars overrated, underrated.

00:42:42
Speaker 3: I heard a lot of people saying I saw a couple of things on Twitter saying how bad that hole was.

00:42:49
Speaker 2: I would say, way over ready. I don't want to, you know, I don't know if you're supposed to weigh on your own. I love that hole.

00:42:56
Speaker 6: I think it's awesome. I think it's under a sorry sorry, I think it's under it way under. I think it's awesome more it's it's so cool on the team. The way that the water like, yeah, the water runs away on like that forty five degree Yeah, nail out left.

00:43:10
Speaker 2: You can bang it as far as you can.

00:43:12
Speaker 1: You can.

00:43:15
Speaker 2: That's what's weird shot. That's what I'm saying. That's that's the angles. The entire course is like a cost. That's what house.

00:43:22
Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, And if you want to lay back up against the edge of that water, you might fail to get there.

00:43:26
Speaker 2: Like, I think it's awesome. I love that layouts so weird and it's such a ton script piece of property that's.

00:43:34
Speaker 3: Sick up and down there today. To close it out, you have to break eighty to hit eighty right on the hill.

00:43:42
Speaker 2: It's it's hard to break eighty with a nine.

00:43:44
Speaker 3: No, not really, But.

00:43:49
Speaker 2: What's your second Like, is that your highest score on tour today?

00:43:52
Speaker 3: I think so yeah, yeah, no, no, no, no no. I shot eighty one a couple of years ago at the Honda. I had like fifteen mud balls on. I'm like, I'm only fourteen, no, And so I had the Ryder Cup like dinner later that night at Jack Nicholas's house and he's like, what did you shoot today?

00:44:11
Speaker 5: And I was like, eighty one and literally no.

00:44:13
Speaker 3: He was like, this is literally what he said, like verbatim. He's like, that's not good. I was like, I'm aware, aware, that's not good.

00:44:26
Speaker 11: You the rider.

00:44:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, well I didn't think of that.

00:44:31
Speaker 3: Well, No, I was in the back.

00:44:33
Speaker 1: I was in the.

00:44:35
Speaker 5: See I saw him.

00:44:36
Speaker 3: I sat next to the big cat. Me and him are tight. I mean me and Tiger go way back where Memorial a few years ago?

00:44:45
Speaker 2: Oh right, right, Yeah, I forgot about that.

00:44:48
Speaker 3: He's the folest guy ever.

00:44:50
Speaker 5: I like him so much.

00:44:52
Speaker 2: He faced adversity that day.

00:44:54
Speaker 3: He did. But the thing that I always stressed, he got some of the wor first breaks ever.

00:45:01
Speaker 5: I'm serious. He uh yeah, no, it should have been a lot better.

00:45:05
Speaker 3: He made like quadruple on number eighteen, triple on seventeen, and he tripled nine. And you're saying, tough to break eighty with a nine. Tough to break eighty four or five when you have like five others. Yeah, but I mean, yeah, he's so nice.

00:45:25
Speaker 5: That's good, dude.

00:45:26
Speaker 3: He was the coolest guy. Oh Memorial, Yeah, feels so good.

00:45:30
Speaker 7: The second course like quintessential example of a place where you can hit driver a lot.

00:45:36
Speaker 5: More than Yeah, I mean that's it's pretty generous off the tea.

00:45:41
Speaker 2: But uh right, crooked Andy, last one you got oh over in?

00:45:46
Speaker 3: What I was gonna say, I have one in the chamber focus.

00:45:52
Speaker 2: What did Jack serve at the Ryder Cup dinner?

00:45:54
Speaker 3: We had like steak and lobster or something. It was real, real nice. Yes, all right, we'll go.

00:46:03
Speaker 2: Changes in fifteen overrated, underrated?

00:46:07
Speaker 1: You fired up?

00:46:09
Speaker 2: This has had that many.

00:46:11
Speaker 3: Ratings the thing, and I don't know, I don't know where I'm at on the overrated underrated part of this.

00:46:20
Speaker 2: You can also say accurately this debate.

00:46:23
Speaker 3: But I will say that sometimes when you add length on a hole, it doesn't make it harder. And that's an example of one where when the tea was up twenty five yards or whatever it was, if you pull the t shot, you got in trouble, like you would go in the trees left like my ball today. My ball today would have been like deep in the trees, in trouble. And now I'm like, okay to pull it left. So I would say, what is that overrated? Am I overrated?

00:46:55
Speaker 7: There was?

00:46:56
Speaker 5: I think, what are your thoughts on the change?

00:47:00
Speaker 2: I don't like that change.

00:47:02
Speaker 8: I like a lot of the changes I liked, I like, I grew to like can I can I do in another overrated under it?

00:47:08
Speaker 7: Yeah?

00:47:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, Oh but these guys got to answer theres first.

00:47:12
Speaker 2: Well, he's got no opinions, I got no Yeah, I don't really care for fifteen. I love, I don't like the shot. I think I like the I think it's too long, Like you said, it's for seventy five, for seventy for some, but I mean when I mean the wind and when the wind.

00:47:30
Speaker 3: Like it was straight into today and I and I'm a short player, and I hit six irons, so it's not too long, especially with how firm it plays, it's not too.

00:47:38
Speaker 2: Long with this take that that's the best place to watch T shots on the golf course. I don't know. Sixteen's pretty awesome. Everybody kind of hits it in the same lot. What's your favorite T shot out there?

00:47:48
Speaker 3: Not seventeen, just kidding that seventeen is good. The favorite T shot is probably eighteen. That's a cool one. I mean, you gotta like sack up serious, especially with that wind today, that's a hard win.

00:48:02
Speaker 5: Because you have to just yeah you yeah, And I got I got up to.

00:48:07
Speaker 3: That T ball and I'm like, shit, I only got like one or two balls left, and Andy's like, yeah, I just started out like fifteen yards out into the water. I was like, uh, okay, all right.

00:48:18
Speaker 7: So I was fascinated today watching you line up, watching you line.

00:48:26
Speaker 2: Up before a shot, like you put your.

00:48:29
Speaker 7: Left foot out and then you like and then you kind of like way left and then you kind of bring yourself.

00:48:37
Speaker 2: You got a happy feet.

00:48:38
Speaker 4: Hey. Yeah, Like Trim has a big issue that he means about thirty yards right, he does, so, yeah, can you explain to him that most good ball strikers aim left.

00:48:51
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:48:51
Speaker 5: I can't really speak for anybody else.

00:48:53
Speaker 12: I know.

00:48:53
Speaker 3: I liked Dame Left just kind of hit the Freddy couples like push. It's a nice it's a nice shot out.

00:49:00
Speaker 2: And you can you can do whatever you want in your hands.

00:49:02
Speaker 6: I will say tron fighting this alignment issue has been very good for my POPU cut.

00:49:08
Speaker 2: Mega surplus. Right, what's your last overrated underrated?

00:49:13
Speaker 3: I don't know if it's an overrated underrated or just what were your guys' thoughts as viewers on on twelve?

00:49:21
Speaker 7: I thought the changes were I don't want to say as much or do about nothing because it ship hold.

00:49:29
Speaker 4: I thought it was.

00:49:31
Speaker 3: I thought it was a cool hole before because it gave an accurate driver of the ball a big advantage because they could smoke driver down the right and get like a seventy eighty yard little perfect wedge with a perfect view of the green. Let's check the Let's check the artist.

00:49:47
Speaker 2: I thought it was. Where was the tea different than yesterday? Today?

00:49:50
Speaker 7: No?

00:49:51
Speaker 3: I mean it was up like five yards? Yeah, it was up like five yards.

00:49:55
Speaker 2: Do we know if they're gonna move it like there's that like forward tea?

00:49:59
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:49:59
Speaker 5: I don't think they can move it.

00:50:00
Speaker 3: And you can't move it anymore, guys, we're hitting like eight iron off the tee.

00:50:04
Speaker 7: That's but I almost feel like they need to move it closer to the point where and make it so like.

00:50:11
Speaker 2: Where the bumper problem?

00:50:13
Speaker 3: What's the problem with it?

00:50:15
Speaker 2: So I think it's too extends too far. I don't know. I said, it's no, it's too long, So I cut part of it out.

00:50:25
Speaker 7: I can't tell you how you, guys, I saw laid up this week and dump it the bunker.

00:50:30
Speaker 5: What I would have liked to see. This is what I would have liked to see.

00:50:33
Speaker 3: I would have liked to see it be kind of like a pot bunker up at where the end of that bunker is an all fair way where it is, and have the and have it be like almost like a blind shot if you hit it down left by the water, to where the bunker kind of obstructed your view.

00:50:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, like something. So I like when you lay up, you get to pick your your angle.

00:50:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think it would have been a better hole if, yeah, you could have laid up down the left and kind of brought the water into play on a layup.

00:51:06
Speaker 2: Where the pin is today, it's like if you want to if you want to have like a good angle the pinion hit in the bunker.

00:51:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would agree the bunker is too long and you needed to be able to lay up close to the water.

00:51:21
Speaker 5: I think you would have seen higher scores.

00:51:23
Speaker 3: Guys would have been like I'm gonna hit like five iron down the left and get that good angle and like hot pull one.

00:51:31
Speaker 4: I think you want to lull somebody into a sense of security on a layup shot, yeah, and.

00:51:36
Speaker 2: Make it really wide because then somebody's like, oh lazy, yeah, and it's like with with the way they set it up it's like to lay up. You're like, it's like hitting like a shot on eight.

00:51:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're like, oh, I have to hit a four iron into a bowling alley. You're not that it's not that tight.

00:51:54
Speaker 2: So I think a takeaway from me today was like walk yesterday.

00:52:00
Speaker 7: I was curious to ask and his opinion on the bunker on eleven. It's like one hundred yards off the tea, and he was just talking about like aesthetic bunkers.

00:52:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, so badly, you know, I just.

00:52:17
Speaker 3: Wash the huge ones at least. Yeah, yeah, they they do.

00:52:23
Speaker 4: It seems like they blend water to bunker to pine trying to create a virtual effects of the tea.

00:52:29
Speaker 7: But but I think that's that's a hole where there's a real, like on twelve, there's a real missed opportunity.

00:52:38
Speaker 3: To do something cool visually just sits there.

00:52:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just and they've got like these He's like knockoff they church.

00:52:47
Speaker 3: Mounds in there.

00:52:47
Speaker 2: They're like off brand. They're showing this harryal that Like every time I see it, I'm just like so overrated.

00:52:58
Speaker 5: I don't even know if that was an overrated under.

00:53:00
Speaker 2: Well here's the other thing I do like that, like if you have to go for it. You have to hit a really good shot, you know, like if there's no qualms about.

00:53:08
Speaker 5: It, Like you shouldn't just be able to like, well, yeah, drive the green.

00:53:13
Speaker 3: Like if you have to hit a really good shot in that same vein, were like.

00:53:17
Speaker 7: It's different watching it through the prism of a Thursday or Friday versus if a guy has to step on the gas pedal.

00:53:24
Speaker 2: On Sunday, I heard a.

00:53:26
Speaker 3: Lot of guys talking about how driver wasn't a good play to yesterday's pin, like because in that chipping area to the right, like unless you got a like on a downslope or a really bad break, it was pretty like straightforward little lob over the bunker into the wind stop it.

00:53:44
Speaker 5: But I mean they said, like only like twelve guys went for the green.

00:53:47
Speaker 2: That's not what they wanted today. Just how I don't think I saw you play out.

00:53:54
Speaker 5: They need to higher.

00:53:55
Speaker 2: I don't think I saw you leave a chip short. Oh both days.

00:54:02
Speaker 5: Greens were just firm.

00:54:04
Speaker 2: I mean, I know they're fern, but like that was like a big takeaway.

00:54:06
Speaker 3: Was like I left one short on thirteen shortened jaws, I was hanging on the lip.

00:54:12
Speaker 5: Can't believe that didn't go.

00:54:13
Speaker 2: Some of them. I know, I think that you guys don't leave.

00:54:17
Speaker 3: Like any chip short.

00:54:18
Speaker 2: I'd always give me a chap short. Yeah, I'm always scared to hit them long. Yeah, But like like I'm sixteen, you were you were just trying to make it. You weren't worried about, yeah, trying to get it closed. You're trying to make it.

00:54:30
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:54:30
Speaker 2: I think that was really hardship he had sixteen.

00:54:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, it was kind of one though.

00:54:35
Speaker 3: It was kind of one though where I had a few out there that were kind of like dummy proof, like if you hit them good, they would stop a little better, but if you kind of clanked them, they would run out.

00:54:46
Speaker 2: So if you didn't panther.

00:54:48
Speaker 3: Micou panther mic Yeah, he gave me a you know, we worked on some chipping on one and to shootout.

00:54:59
Speaker 7: Can we go? All right?

00:55:00
Speaker 3: We got.

00:55:02
Speaker 2: Can you tell the real estate agent story? Hey did you lay down in the s shootout?

00:55:08
Speaker 5: No? Absolutely not.

00:55:10
Speaker 2: DJ's been flowing that room around and it was just that I will say, can shootout is.

00:55:19
Speaker 3: Shootout? We got ten of us to go play oak Bridge National across.

00:55:23
Speaker 2: The streets, across the river, Oh b n you flow across the river.

00:55:27
Speaker 5: I did see that.

00:55:28
Speaker 3: That was epic, and we win a little elimination style, and I feel like next year it's kind of gonna be the big draw.

00:55:34
Speaker 5: I feel like we might get I feel like we might get more.

00:55:38
Speaker 3: People out watching than maybe like a Monday practice round of the players.

00:55:42
Speaker 2: I really I think I think formats got legitimate legs. You should.

00:55:48
Speaker 1: You should take the last Monday qualifier spot in the field one day and do a shootout with the with.

00:55:55
Speaker 2: The next nine guys. Nine holes shootout. Credible, be incredible.

00:56:01
Speaker 6: Yeah, so you guys were in the finals, you and Andy, Yeah, were the two finalists, the last two guys standing.

00:56:07
Speaker 2: Zach hits it into a fairway bunker. Would you get what was the number if we didn't have No, we didn't really far.

00:56:13
Speaker 3: There was no we are.

00:56:15
Speaker 5: I mean it was like, she's like forty fifty.

00:56:18
Speaker 6: You were probably maybe sixty two and a half feet off the lip of this bumper.

00:56:25
Speaker 5: Now three yards, Like I.

00:56:29
Speaker 2: Made you know you have three like probably listen. I h I looked at it, and I was like, there's no fucking leaves man.

00:56:36
Speaker 3: Zach tries to hit a flop three wood, I could have hit that if I would have had a little better lie.

00:56:42
Speaker 5: It was no, it was no problem.

00:56:45
Speaker 3: We could go out right now in the dark and we could hit that shot. So pop back and then you hit I would you saw me take it over the tree on eleven.

00:56:53
Speaker 5: With the three wood. I've got the lobwood.

00:56:56
Speaker 2: I've got that shot league lovewood.

00:57:00
Speaker 3: No.

00:57:00
Speaker 5: Well yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry, yeah, I'm you know, I was with the no Laying.

00:57:06
Speaker 3: Up crew again and I felt like I needed to Uh I didn't have a club though, I needed to gain some respects.

00:57:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's another thing. There was also a battle golf element. Yeah. The thing that got lost in the edit. We'll put it in the in the in the Direct website was that, you know, DJ just edited out that the rule was he had to drop a club every hole. I mean, we can't make it a twenty minute video. So how would you describe.

00:57:30
Speaker 7: Andrew like I I think he's a mix of Couture and Brendan Steel.

00:57:38
Speaker 2: That's a great compliment.

00:57:39
Speaker 3: That is that is that's about back Door can win between the players Championship.

00:57:46
Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I would take that. Yeah, I mean he played good.

00:57:52
Speaker 3: He came in like really heavy in the sandbag status asking for four but uh, I liked it.

00:57:59
Speaker 5: He just phyped one down the right, down the middle on one and I.

00:58:02
Speaker 2: Was everyone, Yeah, that was incredible. That's some of the best driving has overseens. That was pretty good. And got a little.

00:58:13
Speaker 6: Another thing I feel very bad about in the edit. It was panther Mike. It didn't look good at and.

00:58:19
Speaker 2: He really bounced back quality. Yeah. Fake news. Yeah, it was a little fake news.

00:58:25
Speaker 1: But that that.

00:58:28
Speaker 3: I think we we were a little lax on the on the format and the rules, but I think we nailed it. I think we nailed it down though. I think we nailed the zombie rule was huge. That was awesome.

00:58:41
Speaker 2: Two or three chip off at the end.

00:58:42
Speaker 3: So if you made thirty on the whole, after you were eliminated, you were back.

00:58:47
Speaker 4: Hey, you know, I'm gonna start a little website dot com if anybody guys, if anybody buys a domain for a good thief.

00:58:57
Speaker 3: But co I think you were there are sending uh sending entries to Sean Martin for next year.

00:59:05
Speaker 6: People are blowing up, many many people of Royce Thompson was walking around.

00:59:09
Speaker 2: He was he wanted to get in people. Well, people are talking. You know, we've got we've got another committed.

00:59:16
Speaker 3: I heard Tyler might be making his comeback there next year. I think that'd be a nice little tune up before the players.

00:59:22
Speaker 2: It could be a nice gesture.

00:59:25
Speaker 7: I feel like, yeah, I think last thing you got to tell the real estate as this is so good.

00:59:34
Speaker 3: This is good, all right. So me and my wife were going to look at like houses and lots to potentially build a house on in Park City, Utah at Glen wild which is like.

00:59:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure, of course, especially after the way they treated me.

00:59:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, So at Glen Wilds in Park City, and so I called the place up. I called the guy and was like, hey, uh hey, I want to I was wondering if you could take us around and look at some houses or look at some lots to you know, build on or buy whatever. And he goes, you know, like what are you looking for? And I just told him, you know, this is a pretty unique situation. You can kind of take me from, you know, whatever you think fits blah blah blah, and he hangs up on me. So I was like, wow, that was okay, not good. So I called back like four or five times. He's screening my calls.

01:00:34
Speaker 5: Not good again.

01:00:35
Speaker 3: So I drive like forty five minutes up there to the office and I walk in. I mean I was I wasn't looking dapper by any means, but uh, you know, I was in my normal attire, rocking some j's maybe a hoodie and a hat, the Buck Club hat or something like that, and flex fit one ten P.

01:00:58
Speaker 5: So I walk in there and I go, hey, uh I called earlier.

01:01:03
Speaker 3: And the first thing he says goes, oh you're that kid. So I was like, wow, okay, all right, and I go, you know, that was pretty messed up. It's really messed up.

01:01:13
Speaker 5: You know do you do that to everybody? And he goes, you know, you just you weren't giving me a lot to go off of.

01:01:19
Speaker 3: And I was like, I gave you everything you needed to know, and he goes he looks at me and kind of goes, I just, you know, I'm not sure if you know too much about the area, but this is a high end golf community and I'm not sure that you would fit in. So then I was like, wow, you know, okay, I mean I play on the PGA Tour, like I obviously know like what a golf community is.

01:01:44
Speaker 5: Did did I mention it.

01:01:45
Speaker 3: He said, by the way, you know, by the way you look, I'm not sure that you would fit infiling heavy profiling. Yeah, so I mean, yeah, it was. It was. It was pretty pretty awkward, and so me and my wife obviously, like I.

01:02:00
Speaker 2: Didn't ask any feel questions questions.

01:02:05
Speaker 4: Like so like the you know, I used to sell ship, you know, that was what I did, Like the thing you're taught as a salesperson.

01:02:12
Speaker 2: It's like just like Lowsome.

01:02:18
Speaker 3: I was like, I was like, you know, like in today, he's like day and age. You never know who is like a tech billionaire or something exactly exactly.

01:02:28
Speaker 2: That's it goes gets back to big data. I'm sure you're you're sure your name probably.

01:02:36
Speaker 3: So anyways, I so I leave, you know, I leave Glen Wild like pretty upset, and you know, tweet something out like I was just told that that I wasn't aware of Glen Wild being a high end golf community and this thing like went crazy, like people were freaking out. Like the newspaper like got a hold of me and like did like did like a story about it in the Salt Lake Tribune.

01:03:03
Speaker 2: Utah does not like when a hometown hero gets like no, take care of the room.

01:03:09
Speaker 3: Yeah. So this guy like it finally got back to this guy.

01:03:13
Speaker 4: Utah, I guess like they have like a chip that almost like if you if you disss the jazz, like they will come at you hard. Yeah.

01:03:23
Speaker 3: So it got back to this guy and he was like he called me and like wrote me this huge email and these texts and stuff like that, and.

01:03:31
Speaker 5: Was like, hey man, I'm just so sorry.

01:03:34
Speaker 3: I was like having such a bad day and I was like, bro, I gave you every chance to fix it. I drove forty five minutes to the office and the first thing you said to me was like, oh, you're that kid that called I was. I felt so bad for my wife, Like first time looking for houses or anything decent car. I mean, I mean he didn't come out in chat, but I mean, this guy is a hack sales.

01:03:59
Speaker 2: We went we went next.

01:04:00
Speaker 3: Door to Promontory, like the uh you know, the competing club, and we took down a lot. It was a high another high end golf community.

01:04:11
Speaker 2: What did that What was the first question that.

01:04:15
Speaker 5: No questions?

01:04:16
Speaker 2: No, what did they how they make small talk?

01:04:21
Speaker 1: What do you do?

01:04:22
Speaker 3: Oh at at Promontory? Oh my gosh, it was so nice over Promontory, how you doing?

01:04:29
Speaker 7: You know?

01:04:29
Speaker 2: What are you?

01:04:30
Speaker 3: You know was this.

01:04:32
Speaker 2: Newspaper or.

01:04:34
Speaker 3: I mean it was around that time, but I mean we went in there and they were like complete opposite, like, hey, do you want to you want to sit down and talk about some options?

01:04:43
