I got Ryan and Drew and Shannon with me and guys. I don't know where to lead off since we were off yesterday. It feels like the basketball game was a long time ago. But I would still say, Ryan, it's the thing that's the most important to this fan base, even more than the football comments and then the National Championship game and the NFL playoffs. 00:01:20 Speaker 5: Do you agree with that? 00:01:21 Speaker 3: Yeah, there's been so much going on. 00:01:23 Speaker 7: You're right, man, that game though on Saturday gains Tennessee's that's what we're all at our heart, man, That's where we're where love is. 00:01:29 Speaker 3: We got to talk about that, right I. 00:01:32 Speaker 6: At some point, Drew, we just have to start believing that we're gonna win these games against Tennessee on the road, because they don't make sense that we win them. 00:01:40 Speaker 5: I mean, we have. 00:01:42 Speaker 6: We had no business winning that game none. We were down the entire game until the last minute and fifteen seconds. We made the plays down the stretch. We actually made good decisions down the stretch, and we stole the game, just like we've stolen you know, six to the last seven down there. It is unbelievable that what I once thought was maybe the hardest place for Kentucky to play road games in the SEC has basically become Lexington West and has led to you singing their fight song. 00:02:12 Speaker 8: That's right. It's bizarre to go to a rivalry game as a huge underdog over and over and over. I mean we were This wasn't as bad as the last two, but we've been in a thirteen point underdog and an eleven point underdog. You go down there, banged up and beat up again last Saturday, and they just keep winning. It doesn't make sense, but I love it, just ripping their souls out because they get excited thinking this is going to be an easy win, US coming to town, and this is six out of seven. They've left with their face and their palms crying. 00:02:39 Speaker 6: And at least in the Mark Pope era, all these games are exactly the same. We're down sixteen in the first half, and then the question is will we be able to come back? They did it again, So that's back to back road games Shannon where they were down at least sixteen and one. That's the first. We are the first school since the twenty seventeen Florida Atlantic Owls to do that. There's not been a team come from back to back games from sixteen down in ten seasons of college basketball. And on the one hand, I would say, well, you've got to stop doing this because this is going. 00:03:12 Speaker 5: To catch up to you, Shannon. Maybe it won't. 00:03:15 Speaker 6: Maybe we will just spot team sixteen, start the second half and play every single game. 00:03:20 Speaker 4: This is a team that, I mean easily could be one and four in the SEC. Instead they are three and two. It's hard to make sense of what happened in the last two games. LSU, Okay, LSU is not that good, but to do it at Tennessee is one of the more impressive things I've seen in a long time. 00:03:35 Speaker 5: Yes, since last year when we did the same thing. 00:03:38 Speaker 4: Well, yeah, but it's a different team though, I mean it's different. I mean you're dealing with these two injuries too. I mean you got a factor in that as well. 00:03:46 Speaker 6: The crazy thing to me about this is that they're doing this and I still at the end of games, Drew am not sure how good we're playing. As crazy as that sounds. We've hit a ton of threes that has been very beneficial, but they just find ways to get the victory and they now you know, Shannon mentioned well they could be one in four in conference, and that's true, but I also could argue they could have just closed out the Missouri and North Carolina games at home and they'd be thirteen and four and ranked in the top twenty drew. 00:04:16 Speaker 5: So like it kind of cuts both ways. 00:04:18 Speaker 8: It doesn't. Even though I'm happy and we're in the mix and we've won these games, when you ask me, like what's next, it's like, I have no idea. I have no clue what to expect for this team still, even though they've won two big SEC road games back to back, because their falls are still their falls. No, they have these long droughts in these first halves. But then if they played that like they did the last two second halves, if they put that together for forty minutes, that's like a Final four team. It's like, I still don't know what I'm looking at. I'm just glad they've escaped with two wins, all. 00:04:45 Speaker 5: Right, So what are we looking at? Let's look at Let's look at the team. Jaden Quaintons. 00:04:50 Speaker 6: Jeff Goodman said for the first time out loud what evil Ryan Lemons suggested in the first SEC pregame. 00:04:57 Speaker 5: Show, which was the idea that he might not play. 00:05:00 Speaker 6: Jeff Goodman's comments where he could come back in the next week to two, although it's increasingly likely he could sit out the I don't really know what that language means, except they clearly don't want people to think he's starting to sit out the year. But then, why do you say that unless you think that's very possible. Ryan is Jaden Quainton is going to play for Kentucky again. 00:05:23 Speaker 7: I'm still doubtful because I think he's hurting himself. You know, when he and then in the NBA make a prediction yes or no, I'll say, I'll say yes, I think he's going to come back. 00:05:37 Speaker 5: You've been the guy. You've been the guy for two weeks and didn't think he was going to come back. 00:05:41 Speaker 7: I never said that. I was bringing that. That was a topic of discussion that some people were saying that. I never personally said that. 00:05:48 Speaker 5: Okay, so you think he's coming back. 00:05:50 Speaker 3: I think he's going to come back. 00:05:51 Speaker 7: But you know the other side of the corner, I was gonna ready say he's hurting himself in the eyes of the NBA scouts because he when he's last couple of games he's played, he's not played very well. 00:06:00 Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's not gonna change if he comes back or not. Like those games are on his record and he's gonna have to play. I mean, he's gonna have to play something before they pick him, even if it's summer league or you know, the combine drew yes or no. 00:06:17 Speaker 8: I will say we see him again. To admit as someone that thought he'd be a big piece of this team, I now have doubts that he's gonna be a big piece of this team. I think he'll play again. But this big lottery pick coming to change the season and play a lot of minutes and be a big piece, I now don't see that happening. 00:06:32 Speaker 5: Is the Quaintan's game gonna be like the Big Z game of the new era? 00:06:36 Speaker 7: I'm worried if he can come out fourteen points and a half and throw one behind his back like Big Z, didn't he come back? 00:06:41 Speaker 3: Why not? 00:06:42 Speaker 6: But the Quaintans game against Saint John's, when he have sixteen fourteen in the second half, it feels like it's got a lot of you know, we'll look back and go, you remember that time he played really well for He'll have the shortest. 00:06:55 Speaker 5: UK career Shannon besides Shadon Sharpe. 00:06:57 Speaker 2: Ever, Yeah, a game I think he does back. 00:07:00 Speaker 4: But I think that there's all I don't think he plays every game after that, if that makes sense, Like I think he will have other games that he misses because like his knee is swalling up again or whatever the case is. 00:07:09 Speaker 5: What do you think My spidey senses say he's not going. 00:07:15 Speaker 2: To play at all at all, But that's not the ran, then well. 00:07:21 Speaker 6: That's not my prediction because I think that I do think they want him to, and I think there are a lot I get the sense that everyone at the university, including people with his best interest at heart or like you need to play, but there are a couple people who are telling him not to play, and it's genuinely put the kid in a tough spot. And I think that he doesn't really know what to do. So my spidey senses suggest he won't. I'm just my prediction is going to be he will, just because who wants to start that fight. But I do agree with Drew that the thought process of well he is going to be a difference maker through I kind of think that ends now. I mean, he's gonna have some games where he plays well, but like this game against Tennessee would have been one we could have really used it, you know, and he didn't play and that's okay, but he didn't play, So at some point I have to kind of think, well, we're getting I mean, we're not. 00:08:15 Speaker 5: We don't. 00:08:15 Speaker 6: We only have what thirteen more I mean, there's not that many left. 00:08:20 Speaker 8: Yeah, I cleuely agree. And I was hoping when things were struggling early in the year that, okay, he's once we get to SEC play, we'll have Quainton's in full strength. That'll be different. But if you've now missed three games in a row, I guess with just Swelling, not only has it made me wonder how your knees doing, but then also what he has to consider with his NBA future. It's kind of twofold here, maybe even the knees not letting him play and it's not even a decision, but the fact that he only played a few games and disappeared again tells me we're not gonna get a consistent version of him before this season ends. 00:08:49 Speaker 5: All right. 00:08:49 Speaker 6: So now after this win, this was a huge one for making the tournament. I mean, if you're kind of look at the path of things you have to do to make the tournament, we were one behind going into the Tennessee game, and we caught it up because this was gonna be an assumption of a loss. So this win I think makes up for the Missouri loss, and now you're back kind of on pace to make the tournament. You have two games this week Texas Tomorrow, Old miss Saturday that are half to win. We are in this is a have to win category. These are these are two of the three easiest home games you have left. These are teams you've got to beat. 00:09:24 Speaker 5: Ryan. 00:09:25 Speaker 6: Do you think we do that and then start our difficult, difficult end of January and February? 00:09:30 Speaker 5: Uh, at least on a roll. 00:09:32 Speaker 7: I still don't know how they beat Tennessee the other day. I mean just those these these two games they won this week, both on the road, both as and as horrible as they looked in the first half. 00:09:41 Speaker 3: But yet I think there's they found a little magic. 00:09:43 Speaker 7: They see even the little kerfuffled end of the game, you know, I think that just something they needed to show a little fight to get his going in. 00:09:52 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:09:52 Speaker 6: I like the fight. Yeah, it looked like this. I'm gonna give the nice version of what happened. It looked like Malachi block that block Shannon. I think Oway may have said sir, that block was on your person. 00:10:10 Speaker 3: That's what that's what, That's what Tat said. 00:10:11 Speaker 6: Okay, yes, I think I think he said you are like a feline and it's bottom parts in the sense that we blocked your shot, almost a direct quote, very cordial. Yeah, And then I think he did not like the reference to the feline bottom parts, and he came over and then pushed him, and then it was on. And it's not surprising at all that it is Away and Garrison, as a matter. 00:10:39 Speaker 5: Of fact, who else would it be. 00:10:41 Speaker 6: And the picture drew, which is I said, goes in the louver of Mark Pope running and grabbing Garrison by one arm, hugging Away by the other. So far is that the best picture of the year, nets next to maybe Malachi's shot. 00:10:55 Speaker 8: Don't forget Chandler's dunk also up there in the foot of the year. I'll even say the photo of Always smiling in Carrie's face I like better than the Pope photo because Carrie is livid we just won, and Oway just has this grin as he's walking backwards. So you don't love your team fighting at the end, but when you're on the winning side, we're able to smile and laugh about it and pat him on the back for having that front. 00:11:16 Speaker 5: When the game's over. 00:11:17 Speaker 6: This group has a good This group seems to handle Ryan fighting at the end when nothing could happen. They did it in Oklahoma, and they did it Tennessee. Like do it after punishment might occur. 00:11:27 Speaker 8: High IQ fighters. They wait for the moment when they can fight. Yeah, have some consequences. 00:11:31 Speaker 7: Like you said, you knew Brandon Garrison was gonna be right in the middle of it. You know, if you've seen the video clip lee K Howard was sitting on the floor and he's got the bought No, you can you can hear it. You can hear what they're saying to each other on lee K's video. 00:11:45 Speaker 5: What did lee K say? Did it involve felines? 00:11:49 Speaker 3: Uh more than. 00:11:50 Speaker 5: That potty mouth leak. 00:11:55 Speaker 3: No, he didn't say video said it. Oh hilly faila. 00:12:00 Speaker 8: Lee K was not in the fight. His camera captured. 00:12:02 Speaker 5: The Where is this video? 00:12:04 Speaker 8: I think I think it's alleged that Oway told Carrie he needs to watch his figure, maybe diet a little bit. I think you might have this. It's a it was a health It was a health He was like, hey, we have Ozmpic and bowling green. 00:12:15 Speaker 6: You could try that, yes, yeah, maybe maybe pilates or solid corps. 00:12:20 Speaker 8: Yeah, he was just encouraging him to get in shape. I think. 00:12:25 Speaker 2: He's such a nice guy, this old way guy. 00:12:27 Speaker 5: Our team think about. Our team is at its core, we're compassionate people. Right. 00:12:32 Speaker 6: Sometimes that includes includes Shannon telling people hard truth. 00:12:37 Speaker 5: A little overweight sir. 00:12:38 Speaker 7: I loved it on Tennessee's home floor, talking smack like that, getting them after you just beat him down. 00:12:42 Speaker 3: I loved I know one thing. 00:12:43 Speaker 4: I can't wait for the return game in a couple of weeks because I feel like there's going to be some more of this back and forth. 00:12:49 Speaker 5: Yeah, and well every we'll be in dnim. 00:12:53 Speaker 8: They don't want to fight us while we're wearing denim. 00:12:55 Speaker 5: That's true. 00:12:56 Speaker 6: I think they've earned their denim back, don't you. We had talked about whether they earned the denim. Oh yeah, you definitely they've earned a denim game. 00:13:04 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:13:04 Speaker 6: So this is a big week this Texas team. They're fourth, what fourth in the country and scoring is that right? 00:13:09 Speaker 3: That's coming in here with They beat Alabama at Alabama. 00:13:12 Speaker 8: And then beat Vanas. They beat and then only lost to Texas A and M by three and A and M's really good. They're Yeah, I'm not worried about a hangover here. Maybe a little, but Texas is not the team we want to see right now. They're pretty hot, even though they just lost one. 00:13:23 Speaker 5: Next legitimate good. 00:13:24 Speaker 6: But you need to win these games at home, and I think I think if you can beat Texas and beat Old Miss, the path to the tournament gets much easier than if you were to lose one of these games. But I think it's going to be a roller coaster year. That's just what this team is destined to do. I didn't get to hear the sound felt like drew a lot of j Billis complaints. Did did you get that? 00:13:49 Speaker 8: I saw a lot of that. I didn't have as many because I was doing a lot of the back and forth with Leech and Jack. I know he I think he disagreed with both coaches challenges, and maybe another moment he was pro Tennessee in a kind of fifty to fifty ball. So those were the leaders in the complaints. But overall, when I'm home, I'm kind of leaning towards the Jack Tom sync up with the TV these days. 00:14:08 Speaker 6: My only problem with billis is. It feels like to me, Shannon, he doesn't like basketball anymore, at least college. 00:14:15 Speaker 2: He doesn't really want to be there. 00:14:16 Speaker 6: I just I just feel like when he's at these games, he's so grumpy about it, and he's. 00:14:21 Speaker 2: He's always been grumpy though, I know. 00:14:24 Speaker 5: But like it was a grumpy joy. 00:14:26 Speaker 6: Now he's like, these players with their dollar bills need to get off my law. 00:14:30 Speaker 5: It's like, we want someone who's excited. 00:14:32 Speaker 4: Can we get jameson ice cream? That'll calm him down? He loves that rough ice cream. When he comes back to. 00:14:36 Speaker 6: Listening to him talk about ice cream, it's the worst. It's the worst part of it. But he's done a bunch of our games, and I bet he will. 00:14:44 Speaker 5: He will do more. 00:14:45 Speaker 6: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Drew Franklin had the number five podcast in America postgame show Saturday. So congratulations, you're singing, got out to the masses. 00:15:00 Speaker 3: Thank you. 00:15:00 Speaker 8: I'm a little heard. God do better. There's four ahead of me, but we'll take fifth. 00:15:03 Speaker 3: Buckle down. 00:15:05 Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, you're gonna have to work to get Bill Simmons a part of my take, but fifth fifth is very good. We'll take a break very back. It's Kentucky sports Radio. I really enjoy watching them lose. I like their list, their fans. I like Tony Basilio when the Kentucky fans invade and he gets so angry but keeps taking their calls, just getting angrier. I like watching them have to walk around the city and that stupid orange after they lose. I don't like sharning his annual picture of women chewing tobac. Enjoy that one part of it I could do without, But otherwise true, I'm a big fan of beating Tennessee, and I know you are. 00:15:45 Speaker 8: Oh absolutely. We had fun on the postgame show. And as I said in the first semon, it's even sweeter when they have this confidence, in this arrogance, thinking that they're just gonna blow us out. And this has been time after time here lately where we've gone in when they're at their highest of optimism and we just rip their holds out. 00:16:01 Speaker 6: What Mession rights, Matt, It's time to make our line in the sand. Which meteorologists are we trusting for the big huge snowstorm this weekend. There's one that's saying two to four, there's one that says it could be fourteen to eighteen. 00:16:14 Speaker 8: It's a bit difference. 00:16:16 Speaker 5: Wow, which one we going with? 00:16:20 Speaker 2: Two to four probably is a dusting if we're being real. 00:16:24 Speaker 6: Fun to go for four to eight fourteen to eighteen though, because if it doesn't happen, we still got excited about it. 00:16:30 Speaker 5: Good for the economy. Everybody will go buy milk, the bread. You know. 00:16:36 Speaker 6: I think you take the fourteen to eighteen and if the two to four happens, then we're just stuck in the house. 00:16:42 Speaker 7: You know that famous day where all the meteorologists that we're gonna get a dusting, and we got like fourteen inches that night. That was kind of maybe still scaring some people a little bit. 00:16:51 Speaker 6: So who do you uh, I'm looking for? This is made shinning for weather wars. 00:16:57 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, everybody's toad off, roll up the sleeve, let's go. 00:17:00 Speaker 5: Well, it's also because like you have the models. 00:17:03 Speaker 6: You've got the European model and the SMCR model and the too Legit to Quit model. 00:17:10 Speaker 5: Which wody's got their own model? 00:17:11 Speaker 2: Which model are you? Which one you believe? 00:17:13 Speaker 6: I tend to like the europe I feel like the Europeans have had weather longer, and so I think they kind of know what's happening. Plus they're out for us because we keep trying to invade them, So I feel. 00:17:24 Speaker 2: Like they're sending it over here to us. The weather. 00:17:26 Speaker 5: I feel like they're gonna send us some bad weather. 00:17:28 Speaker 6: So I'm going with the European model, and I believe looking at it last night, through the European model says it could be. 00:17:34 Speaker 5: Fourteen inches in Lexington. 00:17:36 Speaker 8: I don't know much about the European model, but I like the one that has us most prepared, because if you tell me it's four and it ends up being fourteen, then I'm mad at you. I'd rather at least be prepared. And then there's just a light dusting and I'm like, okay, in what we thought it would be. So I side with anyone that is projecting the worst it is. 00:17:54 Speaker 6: When I go to Facebook, which is not very often, the only thing the only thing that will make people stop talking about Trump is the weather. The weather wins over Trump on my feet, the weather will get people focused on it. 00:18:07 Speaker 5: And Ryan. 00:18:08 Speaker 6: It's all weather related right now, especially in northern and central Kentucky where the storm is supposed to hit. 00:18:14 Speaker 7: You know, all all the data will tell you that bad weather drives more people to the local news more than anything. If there's bad weather. Oh yes, by far. It's not even close. So I don't know who the who's this debate over? Is it like the Louisville guys versus election and guys or the election? 00:18:30 Speaker 6: They're all picking their sides right now. I just sense it coming, That's what I sense. And speaking of what the newspaper likes to cover, Shannon, did you see the story they sent out Friday on Facebook? 00:18:43 Speaker 7: No? 00:18:43 Speaker 2: I didn't. I must have missed it. 00:18:44 Speaker 5: What is it? So the Harold Leader? 00:18:46 Speaker 6: You know, sometimes I go to their Facebook page just trying to figure out what's happening in Kentucky, right like they all the headlines are there. And this was on their Facebook, and I Drew, I think I can I read it. 00:18:58 Speaker 5: I mean, this was in the newspaper paper. 00:19:00 Speaker 8: It's not one of the words you can't sound radio, but it is an uncomfortable word at ten twenty five am when you're talking about the newspaper. 00:19:06 Speaker 6: But I think you can say it is. But this is in the newspaper. And my mom used to tell me Ryan to read the newspaper. 00:19:12 Speaker 3: Very true, educate yourself. 00:19:14 Speaker 6: So this was in the newspaper. This was in the Lexington Herald Leader on Friday. Here's the here's the synopsis. Millie Bobby Brown is all about freeing the nip. Brown gives us a glimpse of her curves while sharing a fan fairy favorite Florence by Mills piece that was restock in the Picks. She shared via her Instagram on Thursday. She was brawless under a baby blue tank top featuring thick straps. 00:19:39 Speaker 5: It's a scoop. 00:19:41 Speaker 4: Wow, that's what's in the paper these days, huh, trying to get your customers back. Let's talk about some nips that'll get those certain group. 00:19:50 Speaker 6: I posted it on Twitter. Within a few seconds they deleted it, so. 00:19:57 Speaker 7: Like, yes, somebody saw your tweet. Send a word down, get that out there right now. 00:20:01 Speaker 5: I guess why. 00:20:03 Speaker 4: I mean, well, you got people talking about the newspaper. I would embrace it, But is that what you want them to say? Anything to get people to read the newspaper. Who's reading the newspaper in twenty twenty six. 00:20:12 Speaker 6: So do you think you think the newspaper should just put like a naked picture of Tom Leech on the front page. 00:20:19 Speaker 2: I'll try to get people that would be my first choice. But yeah, sure. 00:20:25 Speaker 5: There are standards as to what. She's not even local. She's British. 00:20:29 Speaker 8: Yeah, well I thought she was like fourteen. When did she get old enough for this conversation anyway. 00:20:34 Speaker 5: Well, according to if you would read the newspaper, I can't sell. 00:20:39 Speaker 6: She's twenty one. If you would read the newspaper you would know that. I'm just saying it is. I don't blame the people that work there. There's a couple of one of them is a former KSR person. I don't blame them, but I do blame the company that is feeding that to the algorithm. Right, this is a newspaper in the city of Lexington. You can't be taught talking about freeing things in tanks in baby blue tank tops. 00:21:05 Speaker 5: You know. 00:21:05 Speaker 7: We understand that they're trying to get clicks and people to come to their website, but there's got to be like a firewall when the word nipple appears in the headline to take it out. 00:21:14 Speaker 6: Well, I have that with you. Yeah, there's a firewall. Shannon's supposed to dump it and it never gets dump. 00:21:20 Speaker 2: That's right, that's right through it. 00:21:22 Speaker 5: You go right through it. 00:21:23 Speaker 6: Well, somebody had to have said, though, Shannon, this is okay, right, somebody. 00:21:29 Speaker 4: You would think so, yeah, you wouldn't they would just automatically appear on there without anybody giving it the okay. 00:21:37 Speaker 5: Interested to hear. 00:21:38 Speaker 6: The meeting where they talked to that person about how they thought that was what needed to go up, because literally the story before Shannon was about a local fire. 00:21:48 Speaker 4: Who cares about a local fire? I want to hear about the other story? Well, see, I mean that's for you. 00:21:54 Speaker 2: There's an audience out there. 00:21:56 Speaker 5: Well, she's a big deal. 00:21:59 Speaker 7: Stranger things you know, just came out the season finale. She's really popular right now. 00:22:04 Speaker 5: It doesn't have anything to do with the story. 00:22:06 Speaker 3: No, it doesn't. 00:22:06 Speaker 5: She just put on a shirt. That was the story. 00:22:09 Speaker 8: No, it restocked. The tank top is restocked. That is the news. We can now go get the Francis. 00:22:16 Speaker 5: That was a reasonable story. Who's up next, Let's go to Don Don go ahead, Don. 00:22:23 Speaker 9: Hey, good morning guys. Listen. I really don't even like to hear myself talk, so I wasn't gonna call in this morning. 00:22:31 Speaker 5: But it still. 00:22:36 Speaker 9: It's it seems like, there's still some confusion about why we beat Tennessee, but I know the answer. Throughout the first half when we were coming back, I kept saying, you know, win it for Jerry, win it for Jerry, and all the way through the game, Well, who is Jerry? Jerry is Jerry Tackett? He passed away Friday night. 00:23:00 Speaker 8: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:23:05 Speaker 4: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:08 Speaker 2: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:10 Speaker 5: Here's a fascinating stat. 00:23:11 Speaker 6: Ryan Lemon the number four ranked player in America offensive efficiency since conference play began. Number four in America since conference play began. 00:23:21 Speaker 5: Who do you think it is? 00:23:22 Speaker 3: Denzel Aberdeen? 00:23:24 Speaker 5: Denzel Aberdeen? 00:23:26 Speaker 6: How about that number four ranked player in America and offensive efficiency? Who had that on their BEINGO card? Nobody going into conference play? 00:23:33 Speaker 7: Did you take away these second half against the LSU In the second half, aginst Tennessee. He's he's an All American. He just can't miss. He's playing so well in the second half. Are we losing? 00:23:44 Speaker 5: Drew? 00:23:45 Speaker 8: Oh yeah, I can brag on him too. 00:23:47 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:23:47 Speaker 8: I mean at LSU he was seven for seven to start the half of the Anger six for six and then comes out of the second half of Knoxville doesn't miss either. So to go from in some of these first halfs didn't play well. He had another airball three at LSU, looked like he didn't have a shot, and then he goes into the locker room and whatever Pope is injecting in the whole team, he's getting the most of it because he's been a completely different player the last twenty minutes of the last two games. 00:24:09 Speaker 5: And he makes he makes really good plays. 00:24:10 Speaker 6: You also had Diabat do the good and the bad Diabate Saturday. He had a little run where he played well of Kentucky in it and then kind of a disaster a few minutes after that. 00:24:21 Speaker 5: They end up taking him out. 00:24:24 Speaker 6: He comes in for that rebound the fouls which actually think was a pretty good foul, but still feels like Diabate Ryan not completely on the right page. 00:24:31 Speaker 7: Yeah, get getting lost is him getting that rebound off the miss free throw? You know, the the play of Chandlers got the steal Otega bucket, Diabate got the rebound just totally blew my mind. 00:24:42 Speaker 3: And that final minute a play. 00:24:44 Speaker 8: One person who doesn't love Aberdeen's second half is Jasper Johnson because he's been robbed of more minutes. Jasper's played well, but you just can't sit Aberdeen in these second halfs here. 00:24:54 Speaker 5: But Jasper did have a great first half. 00:24:56 Speaker 8: He did did great first half. 00:24:57 Speaker 3: Twelve points is that about twelve points? 00:24:59 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:25:00 Speaker 3: Carried him in the first half. 00:25:01 Speaker 7: Him and Channel were only offensive threats in the first half. 00:25:04 Speaker 5: He really was great in the first half. 00:25:06 Speaker 7: Him not playing in the second half is not a reflection on him, it's a reflection on how good Aberdeen's playing. 00:25:12 Speaker 6: I think that's I think that's right. All right, we'll let her call her finish about his friend. Yeah, go ahead and finish your story. 00:25:18 Speaker 2: Doug done. 00:25:20 Speaker 9: Okay, thanks guys. 00:25:23 Speaker 10: No. 00:25:23 Speaker 9: I had called into the postgame show and spoke to Drew and Billy about this, and I'm serious. Unfortunately, I'm very serious about this. A good business friend of twenty years, Jerry Tackett, passed away Friday night. Jerry was a big UK fan. He was six seven, but he was a big UK fan and he's from Kentucky. And the beauty of. 00:25:51 Speaker 5: It all. 00:25:54 Speaker 9: That Jerry would have had this play out and he went to the only games he ever went to and rupp Arena. We're on my tickets. And Jerry has lived for thirty five years in Norxville, Tennessee, and works for twenty five worked for twenty five years for probably one of the biggest big orange booster and supporter companies in the Knoxville area all that time. So I know why we won that game. Yeah, well, thank you very much. 00:26:30 Speaker 6: Thank him for that, by the way, we needed it. And rest in peace to your friend. I appreciate you calling. If I'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven, Shannon, I geeked Saturday night. 00:26:41 Speaker 5: I'm a little. 00:26:41 Speaker 2: Bears the Bears game. 00:26:45 Speaker 5: No, they played, they played Sunday. 00:26:48 Speaker 6: Oh okay, So you know, you know, Drew, I've talked to you Ryan about the guy on the Carolina Hurricane game Hurricanes games, Trip Tracy, right, the little announcer that I like so much. 00:27:00 Speaker 5: Yes, like we been. 00:27:01 Speaker 6: Talking about him for eight years. I was at the game. I came to the game Saturday night in Newark, New Jersey. I go in buy really good tickets. I look up and he's Drew four. 00:27:13 Speaker 5: Feet away from there's Trip Tracy. 00:27:17 Speaker 6: Now, Shannon, I've been watching this man every day for like eight years, you know, like the way some people listen to us and they kind of think like that they know us. 00:27:26 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's how I am with this man. 00:27:28 Speaker 6: I've never talked to this man, but I feel like he's a part of my life. Right So, you could have had Barack Obama or Tiger Woods or David Letterman right there. 00:27:42 Speaker 5: I Shannon would have had more more composure than I did with Trip Tracy. I did. 00:27:47 Speaker 6: I just looked at him and went Trip Tracy. And I could tell on his face I had scared him the way sometimes people will scare me when they yell at me like that. And I went, oh oh, And then I said something made no sense, but really, good friend in Australia loves you. 00:28:05 Speaker 5: Can we get a picture? Well he doesn't. 00:28:07 Speaker 6: How do I explain Max Duff he lives in Australia. How would he even know who he is? 00:28:12 Speaker 5: Right? Yeah? 00:28:13 Speaker 6: So I can see in his face he's trembling, like is this man going to hurt me? 00:28:20 Speaker 5: But I took a picture and I was very happy. 00:28:23 Speaker 6: But I also realized that I completely geeked out on maybe the smallest level celebrity I could have like, can you think of anyone that would be a smaller celebrity than the regional color commentator from Carolina Hurricane Hurricanes hockey that you all would geek out if you saw them. 00:28:43 Speaker 7: No, No, first, I'm surprised there wasn't a big long line of people standing in the line to get their picture with him. 00:28:49 Speaker 6: You just kind of no one else knew who he was, including no one spoke to him except me. I'm the only one that I think even acknowledged his existence. 00:28:57 Speaker 5: And then you. 00:28:58 Speaker 2: Scared him and nobody else probably eve knew who he was. Was just thought he was saying. 00:29:01 Speaker 6: I mean, there were some Hurricanes fans, but I don't know if they knew who he was, but I did. I seriously, Like, we're gonna go to the Super Bowl, Drew, I'm not gonna be that excited to meet anyone there. 00:29:12 Speaker 8: That's a guy who could probably leave the arena and walk straight to his car in the back of the parking lot without anyone stopping to say anything to him. 00:29:18 Speaker 5: And for you, for you, that's he's looking around, going his mad over there. 00:29:25 Speaker 10: Now. 00:29:26 Speaker 6: I understand the relations people, the relationships some people feel towards this show. Shannon like there's no you know, I can It makes me appreciate, like I got that excited for Trip Tracy and then he won and I wanted. 00:29:40 Speaker 5: Shannon, I wanted to wave at him goodbye, but he wasn't there. Right. 00:29:43 Speaker 4: Well, now, next time somebody comes up to you in a remote like wants to hug on you or something, you got to understand because that's how you were with with Trip. 00:29:50 Speaker 6: With Trip Tracy, I think I think it will make me much more understanding about that. 00:29:55 Speaker 5: Who's next? 00:29:55 Speaker 2: Blue grass? 00:29:56 Speaker 5: Blue Grass? How are you bluegrass? 00:29:59 Speaker 10: I'm doing all right, fellas Hey, this is something I was thinking about and comment, maybe I might be onto something here. When trying to get to learn your team year in and year out. I always thought it was like to play on the field, on the court. But maybe it's like, maybe what happened in the Louisville game, maybe that wasn't out of character. Maybe can I say prick? 00:30:21 Speaker 9: Maybe we are pricks. 00:30:23 Speaker 10: Like, maybe we are age like maybe that is who we are like and that's all right. No I'm not that's all right. 00:30:31 Speaker 5: Maybe I think I don't I don't think Pope. 00:30:35 Speaker 10: Yes, I don't think Pope knew who we were like, I think that is like, I think that is who we are, calling them fat and you know what, being like talking trash during the games. Like I think that that's all right though, you know, I like that. 00:30:49 Speaker 5: That's a very good question. I appreciate the call Drew. 00:30:52 Speaker 6: Are we should we accept our identity as the SEC Pricks this year. 00:30:59 Speaker 8: I don't like labeling us that because I think Tennessee and even South Carolina fans are more of that just in their daily lives. 00:31:06 Speaker 5: But maybe I'm talking about the team. 00:31:09 Speaker 8: Well, I'm just saying in general our branding, maybe we have an arrogance. I don't like colling as that, even even if just the players leave that for other teams. But we do have a cocky arrogance. I will say that attemptively. 00:31:20 Speaker 6: We objectively though we've had a number of fights where arguably we started them. 00:31:27 Speaker 8: We don't now, we don't know that. It looks like, oh way, just ask carry if he's following through with his resolutions New Year. Knew me We're gonna slim down a little bit. 00:31:34 Speaker 5: You seem to suggest something else. 00:31:36 Speaker 6: I mean, it's okay, Like there are teams Ryan think about the bad boy Pistons, I mean, there are teams that sort of make that their identity. I feel like we've done it enough that it's at least our partiality. 00:31:48 Speaker 8: We're way too soft to be compared ourselves to the bad boy Pistons just because Brandon Garrison gets in a fist fight. 00:31:54 Speaker 6: I would love to be the bad fight. 00:32:00 Speaker 8: Those three will fight anybody anywhere. 00:32:02 Speaker 3: Aberdeen I think he can put him in that category. 00:32:05 Speaker 5: You know that Colin will don't. I don't see Colin Chandler fighting. I don't see Walker Horn fighting. 00:32:12 Speaker 4: We got our fighting, though, Yeah, I think we got five guys who will fight. 00:32:18 Speaker 2: That's what you need. 00:32:18 Speaker 4: I mean, you need somebody to go in there sometimes and just be a bully when you need it. 00:32:22 Speaker 2: It's good Garrison. 00:32:24 Speaker 8: Doesn't need a bell or a whistle. He is ready to go at any moment. But something about that. I liked seeing our fire in our heart at the end of the game. I think that's been missing in insight. It was good to kind of see that. 00:32:36 Speaker 6: Yeah, well, we had a ninety six percent chance to lose against Tennessee and a ninety seven point five percent chance against LSU. 00:32:46 Speaker 5: Someone whose math is better. 00:32:47 Speaker 6: Than mine could say, what are the chances we would be win both of those and the number is going to be under one percent. But it happened, and so now we need to build on it because it is a pretty amazing run for Kentucky to have done. It's a new year, so start off with taking care of yourself and that includes your skin. This year, prioritize your skin health, whether it's persistent acne, fine lines, or the suspicious spot you've been mean to check. 00:33:12 Speaker 5: It's a Kentucky Skin Cancer Center. 00:33:14 Speaker 6: They got locations around Kentucky, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Owensboro, Franklin, and Powderly. 00:33:19 Speaker 5: Have you got that place looked out yet? Ryan? 00:33:22 Speaker 3: Have I got the No? I have not yet on my face yet. 00:33:26 Speaker 5: Yes, you need to do that. 00:33:28 Speaker 3: What can we do another remote there? 00:33:31 Speaker 5: I don't think we have one scheduled to. 00:33:33 Speaker 2: Get Wait another couple of years. 00:33:34 Speaker 3: Our sales department should get on that schedule another show there for us, or you. 00:33:37 Speaker 6: Could just call and get one. Kentucky Skin Cancercenter dot com. Don't like be like why Ryan and Waite go to the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center. We'll take a break right back, talk a little football. 00:33:48 Speaker 5: It's cancer. 00:33:50 Speaker 6: Water back, it is Kentucky Sports Radio AF I'm nine to two eight twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seven four of two five four cats a big victory. When person writes, Matt, do have you guys seen the show Rig yet? On Netflix? With Matt Damon and Ben Affleck? Did anyone watch it this weekend? I'd like to know their thoughts. I feel like Ryan, that's something you would watch. 00:34:13 Speaker 3: I have not heard of it yet, but if it's a recommendation, I'll check it out. 00:34:17 Speaker 6: It's called Rig and it's Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. 00:34:21 Speaker 5: Do you like those guys? 00:34:22 Speaker 3: I do like those guys. Yeah, even though they're Boston. 00:34:24 Speaker 5: What's your favorite Matt Damon movie? 00:34:28 Speaker 3: Was it Gone Girl? Ghost Girl? 00:34:29 Speaker 5: What was that? That was? Ben Affleck? 00:34:32 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's who I'm thinking about. 00:34:34 Speaker 5: So what about Matt Damon? 00:34:36 Speaker 3: But Bourne Identity? 00:34:38 Speaker 6: Yes, there you go, so see you know one of both? What about like Goodwill Hunting? 00:34:44 Speaker 3: Remember I've not seen that yet? 00:34:46 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:34:47 Speaker 6: He only watches action movies. True, right, Bourne Identity, I could see. Do you like Affleck and Damon? People are saying this is a good movie? 00:34:55 Speaker 5: It is. 00:34:56 Speaker 8: I think it's called The Rip, not The Rig. It's on my list. Yeah, I mean there might be one called The Rig too, and I couldn't find it and I was like, yeah, I think it's called the Rip. No, I'm very looking forward to this one. I like when these guys are together. I love a lot of their movies, including the Bourn series. I'll had the Town with Affleck. 00:35:13 Speaker 5: It's a good one. Yeah, and they've got to be chanting. 00:35:17 Speaker 6: Two of the most uh, two of the most like famous friends to come up together. 00:35:23 Speaker 5: Yeah, you know what I mean. 00:35:24 Speaker 6: Can you think of two guys that, like, from the first time we met him, the thing was they were best friends and they still do things together. 00:35:30 Speaker 5: Can you think of anybody. 00:35:31 Speaker 6: Else like that famous and they're like, oh, look at these two friends and then they're still friends. 00:35:36 Speaker 2: No, No, I mean those that's probably the answer. 00:35:40 Speaker 4: Adam Sandler, right, Adam Sandler and uh, I. 00:35:43 Speaker 2: Guess far really good friends back in the day. I know he's dead now, but I mean back in the day. 00:35:48 Speaker 6: It was thirty years ago, though, I mean, I'm just live together. They've lived an entire life together and remain friends. I think that's pretty impressive. 00:35:57 Speaker 7: Because, yeah, usually usually end up hating each other and fighting with each other and they go spend that much time together over the years. 00:36:03 Speaker 5: I can't. 00:36:03 Speaker 6: I'm sure there is someone, but I can't think of anyone. Will Stein had his press conference, Drew, you watched it. The thing that stuck out to me was him quatching any possible football basketball beef with the question of whether how he thought being at a basketball school worked. He basically said, I'm a Kentucky faan and have been my whole life, and I want the basketball team to win every game. 00:36:26 Speaker 5: So I thought that was a really good answer. 00:36:30 Speaker 6: What else did you take from his second press conference in front of the UK press. 00:36:36 Speaker 8: He's really good to listen to for a first time head coach. 00:36:38 Speaker 9: You know. 00:36:39 Speaker 8: I know he answers questions as a coordinator, but sometimes the podium like that, just taking all kinds of questions. You know, you don't get the best answers from young guys. But I really liked hearing from him. You spoke for like forty minutes yesterday. A lot of it was a player by player kind of explaining why I went the direction with the quarterback room offensive line was a priority. 00:36:57 Speaker 6: What did he say about the quarterback Kenny Minschee. I mean, that's the one everybody will have the most wonder about. Since we've never seen play, it's hard to even find film of him. What did he suggest about him? 00:37:09 Speaker 8: It talked about his athleticism, a lot of things we kind of know just from a few highlights actually in athleticism, even though he didn't get to play a ton of Notre Dame. But the big thing was he said he did his research. He asked the NFL about Minsche and they really like him. And he asked people at Notre Dame about Minsche and they were like, we would have won the same amount of games if he had been the quarterback. It was just that tight of a competition. So that was exciting to hear. And then will Stein was asked just about the schedule of the SEC and he said something along the lines of, well, they got to play us, So I like this. Even though he knows Kentucky Football's history, he's not coming in with that kind of wounded attitude. He's coming in with a confidence that you don't normally have at this program. 00:37:48 Speaker 6: In the SEC, I thought of you, Ryan when I saw his comment when he was just talking about the whole decision about transfer portals and where he kind of talked about Cutter leaving, and he said something like, I mean, we wanted it to work out, but it didn't. 00:38:06 Speaker 5: What was your take on that? As a Cutter fan. 00:38:09 Speaker 7: I really do believe him when he said they wanted cut Her to stay, but they weren't gonna promise him the job. You know, they weren't gonna promise him X amount of dollars that look, this is what your value is, this is what we're gonna pay. We'd like for you to be here and compete for the job. I believe Stein when he says that, don't you? 00:38:25 Speaker 5: I do? 00:38:26 Speaker 6: I believe though, I mean, I also believe we offered him a lot less money. 00:38:30 Speaker 5: Than Arizona State. 00:38:32 Speaker 6: Yeah, half as much, And so you know you have to say, all right, was that the right decision? I think it was, But I do think Drew a lot of the support style will get will be. 00:38:44 Speaker 5: Based on whether that decision is right. 00:38:46 Speaker 6: If Minchi's not good and Cutter kills it at Arizona State, there'll be some grumbling over that. 00:38:52 Speaker 8: Completely agree, And I was trying to find the exact quote, but there was some comment like we had a plan and stick to it, almost alluding to but we all figured like they had a budget for quarterback it Bullie wanted more. I'm sorry, this is what we're doing. But he did wish him well and uh, you know, mentioned that he loved Kentucky and just different plans. 00:39:11 Speaker 3: It wasn't interesting to hear say what you like. 00:39:13 Speaker 7: You've hinted that Matt like they'd gay a sign of value to each player. 00:39:16 Speaker 5: And then I want to talk to him about that. 00:39:18 Speaker 6: I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks we get him on for a longer way, and that's one of. 00:39:22 Speaker 5: The things I really want to talk to. 00:39:23 Speaker 2: Can I tell you something. 00:39:24 Speaker 4: I don't believe him when he says that he is the biggest Kentucky basketball fan you'll ever meet. 00:39:30 Speaker 2: No, you know our fan base, we have like the craziest. 00:39:37 Speaker 8: I don't care. 00:39:38 Speaker 2: A lot of kids, A lot of kids went to the camp. 00:39:40 Speaker 4: You can't tell me that he is the biggest challenge. Yes, yes, wow, I'm not saying that, Like you know, I'm a bigger fan than he is. 00:39:47 Speaker 2: But I'm saying, is he the biggest you'll ever meet? 00:39:49 Speaker 5: No? 00:39:50 Speaker 2: I don't believe that. 00:39:51 Speaker 6: So, no, you don't have a contest where he has to compete with other big. 00:39:55 Speaker 4: Yes, Yes, I would love that because I don't believe for a minute he's the biggest Kentucky fan. 00:40:01 Speaker 6: Who is in your mind, who is the biggest Kentucky fan? Like if you were to if he as a fan base, were to say, who is the biggest Kentucky fan? 00:40:10 Speaker 4: Probably somebody I've never met. Probably yeah, but I'm sure. 00:40:14 Speaker 5: I don't you think they have to be a little bit known because of that. 00:40:17 Speaker 2: I don't think he's a bigger Kentucky fan than John Short. 00:40:20 Speaker 6: Okay, that's a good way true, but you know I have to get them on a call off. 00:40:28 Speaker 2: Let's do that. 00:40:30 Speaker 7: I did like his story where he said he went to the Tube Smith basketball camp and he won the free throw contest and he won the hot shot contest. 00:40:35 Speaker 4: That's great, but it doesn't make him the biggest Kentucky bigger. 00:40:38 Speaker 5: Than the guy who paints himself in those game. 00:40:41 Speaker 4: No, will Stein will not go to a game painted in blue and overalls. 00:40:46 Speaker 5: Due you've been around a lot, who's the biggest fan. 00:40:49 Speaker 8: I've also been to Tubey Smith's basketball camp, maybe the same one as mall Stein. I could have been giving will Stein buckets and not knowing it. It would have to be someone that drives to away game US and literally goes to everything they possibly can and has a one of those houses or man caves where you can the UK emblem is on everything they can possibly put it on. I think someone out there would qualify for that. 00:41:11 Speaker 6: I think it has to be someone who it affects your mental well being if they win or lose. Yeah, Like, I like, that's me. I'm in that category now. I think there's people who take a lot more worse, a lot worse than I do, but like to be the biggest fan. 00:41:27 Speaker 5: It has to affect. 00:41:29 Speaker 6: Your mood when they lose, Like if you just go on with your life. My view is if you lose to Tennessee and that night you go to dinner and act like nothing happened, the Channon you can't be the biggest fan. 00:41:41 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:41:41 Speaker 5: It might be you might be a normal human being, but you're not the biggest fan. Is there's people who are furious about. 00:41:49 Speaker 2: Will Stone's not going home and crying when Kentucky loses to Tennessee. So because it come on, he's not. 00:41:58 Speaker 6: I'll be cried balls of tears. 00:42:02 Speaker 5: I hope there's a video and you stick it in your face ship. 00:42:05 Speaker 2: Okay, come on, do your thing. 00:42:08 Speaker 6: We will take a break and come back out Number two, Scary as heart
