You know, Jeremiah Love goes off the board at three. Other than that, you know, ty Simpson. If they could have stretched that into day two, that could have helped a little bit, you know, almost like this year's version of Shadoor Sanders. I wasn't ready for another Shadoor Sanders, like we we survived that the previous year with mel Kiper. I'm not blaming Shudor, I'm blaming the media. Who well, mel Kuipers still apoplectic over Shadoor Sanders falling to the fifth round. But it's down a tick. I thought, you know, the crowd was unbelievable, the atmosphere was great, and when you think eight hundred thousand people in a three day span attended the draft. Speaker 2: Well, okay, this is the transfer from Cincinnati. He has kind of a first round grade I think as a quarterback and going to Texas Tech where they spent over five million dollars. Now he's going into a treatment center for gambling. Now, keep this in mind. It's not that he just bet on Indiana football when he was at Indiana, but he apparently plays thousands of bets across multiple sports. So this is a bigger issue and clearly disregarding any of the rules governing gambling at the college level. He either didn't care or didn't think he was going to get caught. They may be both. But you're betting a lot now, are you involved in games? Did he bet at Cincinnati? There's a report that the University of Cincinnati knew that he had a gambling problem, and then he transferred to Texas Tech. He was, you know, one of the big items, if not the big item in the transfer portal. But I don't know what the nc DOUBLEA. I don't know what the NCUBA is anymore. I don't know, like, do you set an example? I mean this is this is a far bigger picture and enough attention, not enough attention has been shared on this. But I gotta believe if you look at the numbers for men nineteen to twenty four, twenty five, you got the potential for epidemic here. And I know, old man, get off my lawn. I just know the feeling. I know it too well. It got so bad when I gambled. I couldn't watch a game that i'd bet on. Now a lot of people bet because hey, I don't have any real interest. It's a Cleveland against Arizona. I'll throw a couple of dollars on it and then watch the game. I could never watch any game that I bet on, and I never enjoyed when I won because I thought I was supposed to win. But that low of losing and when you have to pay your debts, I mean, that's when you want to talk about the walk of shame. That's the walk of shame right there. Remember going to my bookie and handing him money. He had a beautiful house. He had a Lincoln Continental. I probably paid for something powder blue Lincoln Continental, and I think it was a Lincoln Continental Mark three. It had the spare tire that you know on the back, had the it's it's encased in the car. Oh thank you, Dan, Yeah, I know.

Hopefully he realizes there's bigger things that he needs to work on or figure out. But the NC double A, like the old NC double A, he's gone. I don't know about the new NC double A. How leanent you're going to be? Yes, Marvin?

I mean, I've been saying all along, if you're gonna have anil, then just make sure you have contracts that we're gonna pay you this if you perform X number of games. If you decide to leave, then any of that money that we've fronted you then you have to pay it back. Just make them contracts that's okay. Everything's supposed to be above board. Just here's your contract. You have the potential you're gonna make five point five million dollars this upcoming season, and if you don't meet certain requirements, then we get money back or you pay in installments. I can't imagine they're going to go, here's five and a half million dollars. Feels like it would be incremental. But then I've been a voice of logic and reason and usually that gets me nowhere. Speaker 5: I want to go back to November. We covered this briefly. On November first, the Ensay put out a proposal that would allow college athletes and employees of athletic departments to bet on pro sports only, and they needed to be passed by all the different divisions. It was not passed. So the thing on Soresby the Pole question is would you let him play this year? I would say hard no if he's guilty of what he's accused of, because now you have an example that you could show to the next generations of players who are coming in with this rule and say, like, even the big stars can lose. But if you do the opposite and let him play four months after then there's no deterrent.

Speaker 2: Yeah, but we've had this with the NFL, and that doesn't stomp these guys from gambling, guys who've had to sit out a season. I don't think nobody thinks they're gonna get caught. It's like nobody's gonna notice this bet. Nobody's gonna notice if I bet on this sport. Nobody's gonna notice if I bet on my team. They don't think they're gonna get caught. Yeah, Todd, But like you said.

Speaker 3: The language from the NCUBA is actually kind of interesting because it says student athletes who wager on their own games or in other sports at their own schools face permanent loss of eligibility, but if a college player bets on a different school in their own sport, the loss of fifty percent of a season will be considered. So you could bet on women's volleyball at Indiana and be permanently ineligible, or you could bet on another college football game, which you're probably more inclined to have information about as a player, and receive less of a penalty.

Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know how the NCUBA. I just don't know if they have the manpower to be investigating this. It just feels like in the last ten years, maybe maybe longer than that, we look at the NCAA as kind of like, yeah, they kind of govern softball, volleyball, water polo, all the kind of ancillary sports, not the big ones. Now you have a big one, and you have this quarterback at a school that is spending money, was in the playoffs last year and probably looks at themselves as a title contender this year. Yeah, I do.

Speaker 3: It'll also be interesting to see sort of those lesser sports you mentioned, lesser in terms of like publicity and things like this could be going rampant there too, and we're just not hearing about it as much.

Speaker 2: Well, you have the situation with I think the Alabama baseball coach. Yeah, like you're going, what getting information? Once again, if you think you can get an edge, you'll bet it. Now the problem is always how much are you better? Because that's what brings out flags or multiple bets on the same bet, like multiple people and they're like, wait a minute. And I had somebody who knew somebody at a max school in an American conference and I won't mention the school, but he knew information and told his friend and I know his dad, So I'm like, you do not like because he said, Hey, do you think this is legit? Like I got this information? My son gave it to me. I go, don't act upon it. Tell your son, do not do anything here because it'll eventually get to him and could get to you as well. And he never did anything, and it turned out the bet would have lost. But this guy had information, and I'm like, oh my gosh, yeah, PAULI going.

Speaker 5: Back to that Alabama baseball story that was years ago, a coach allegedly told a friend that a starting pitcher is gonna be scratched last minute. There was a spike in betting on an Alabama LSU baseball game and it got red flagged immediately and it worked out like the bet came through and then he was fired.

Speaker 7: And you know, just talking about uh, you know the swordsby betting on Indiana. You know, Indiana twenty point two and we covered thirty three point three percent of the time. Where where I think the NCAA and where it gets a little bit interesting, especially for quarterback, is team totals and and the over unders. One thing about twenty twenty four Cincinnati, as a hobby enthusiast myself, they were one of the best under teams in the country.

Speaker 2: Thank you. Cody. Soresby was being sued by the Universe University of Cincinnati for a million dollars for leaving while under an anim agreement. The agreement was signed in July of twenty twenty five, where Soresby committed to spending two seasons at Cincinnati. Then he transfers to Texas Tech UH Tim and Buffalo Hi Tim.

Speaker 8: First time long time sixt week to twelve. I want to put a little extra on this gambler thing that nobody ever talks about. People in the are states like New York, New Hampshire, Oregona, Rhode Island. They the contract is with these draft Kings and other online sports is fifty one percent goes to the state. New York state alone in twenty twenty five received two point five billion dollars, which means that the online gamblings also have that, which means five billion dollars out of the pockets of the people that normally would go to entertainment such as going to games, going out through restaurants and such. But nobody ever talks about that.

Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about the amount of money that was gambled on March madness. Now I would go through a booking because there's no you know, pay per trail from the standpoint of they're going to check my previous addresses. You know, we have somebody here on our staff who tried to sign up for FanDuel and they wanted, you know, he didn't qualify with all the addresses that they needed for previous addresses. I'm all for that. I'm all for you know, you vetting people. But you know, in a situation like that, how much money is bet illegally because a lot of your big players don't bet through FanDuel or DraftKings because they want to bet bigger numbers and they don't want to be paying any taxes, you know. They they want to do it the old school way. But this can monitor a lot of different sports, a lot of different athletes. Orlando is just going to beat him up, make him work for everything, and his usage rate is really high and they basically just wear him down. And Orlando didn't play well at all and ended up winning that game.

You didn't have to have your ballots back at the end of the regular season, which it normally is, so that bled into the playing games, and I think voters saw the struggles of Khan in those two games, and I think that hurt him if the voters had not seen those two games and the votes.

But you look at Cooper Flag like his rookie year is Lebron's rookie year? Yeah, pretty much right there. Man Shack was twenty three and a half and fourteen rebounds in three and a half locks. His rookie years averaged twenty three and a half. Duncan was twenty one and twelve kd averaged right at twenty. Blake Griffin had an unbelievable rookie season twenty two and a half and twelve rebounds. Luca as well and also too.

He was getting the best defense each and every night. Con wasn't so I can see the case for both. Again, I love both players. Both were well deserving. But I'm happy for Cooper Flag.

Speaker 2: Yeah I again. Doc Rivers said that to me a couple of weeks ago. You got a factor in the culture that changed when kN K Nipple got there and they made the playoffs. But you know what it's like when you are the guy every single night. Cooper Flagg was at nineteen every single night, and you don't have Kyrie Eight's gone. You have to play well, have to Hornets could win and con didn't have to play well. Cooper Flag had to play well. And I know what we tend to kind of massage these arguments of well, how did the team do well? Wait a minute, did you factor it in previous years?

I mean, Jason Kidd was brilliant as putting him as a point forward. He took his lumps early, he figured it out. That's why he's Rookie of the Year.
