It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Friday, February the twentieth. I'm Matt Jones here in Lexington, Kentucky. We are at the studio with Ryan and Drew. Shannon is in Louisville, as is Mario. You can give us a shout. It is Friday, Clark's Puppa Shop phone one rare Friday. Not at a remote, but we're not, so we are here. If I'm done two eight oh two two eighty seven A vision auto glass text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. In this stision sponsored by the t J. Smith Low Office, he called TJ. He'll make them pay. Drew came in here with such a happy gift for me. 00:01:14 Speaker 5: Yes, it was the. 00:01:18 Speaker 4: Converse nineteen ninety six UK shoes, the denims Converse with a box that says Untouchables nineteen ninety six. You said they only made ninety six of the box, ninety six boxes, and I have one, and so now I will treasure this like as a shoe thing. I guess Oneness uh gave this to me. So thank you to Oneness and these shoes. This is what the ninety sixteen wan Ryan. And now I can walk around and uh and act like I played on the team. 00:01:50 Speaker 5: You Andrew had a good discussion. Some people don't want to wear them. They keep them fresh. You're like your shoes wear them? 00:01:56 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I have. I counted I have three hundred pairs of sneakers. Oh boy, that according to that six hundred individuals. 00:02:10 Speaker 3: Let me do the math for you. That's six hundred. 00:02:13 Speaker 4: But but I wear them all, including I have a couple that are worth a lot of money. But I'm like, what's the point, what's the one I have in choose. If you don't wear right. 00:02:25 Speaker 5: People give them fresh and even keep them in the box. But what why I don't. It's like buying a painting and putting it in story. Yeah. 00:02:34 Speaker 4: I understand that they can be worth money, but Shannon, as I've said, just buy stock if you don't want to look at it or wear it. 00:02:40 Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm even like that with bourbon collectors. Yes, with you, why are you like looking at it? 00:02:47 Speaker 6: What? 00:02:47 Speaker 3: I can drink it, you can fill it up with tea. 00:02:49 Speaker 4: If you're just keeping it to keep it, well, why did you get it? Just buy stock? 00:02:56 Speaker 5: True, Let it work for you. You war yours? 00:02:58 Speaker 7: Yeah, and now I wasn't. I regretted walking through ks Bar's kitchen. In them, there's certain areas where they need to be a little more conscious. 00:03:05 Speaker 4: Rainy days. 00:03:05 Speaker 7: I try not to wear my best shoes, common common sense stuff. 00:03:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I will not wear white shoes on rainy days, like like things like that. Yes, I completely swayed on rainy days. 00:03:16 Speaker 5: But shoes like those are kind of special. Do you wear them just on special occasions? 00:03:19 Speaker 4: I wore them to the Georgia game. It was not special. Yeah, you've already jinxeds like this I would wear to like the SEC tournament. Okay, right, yes I will or something like that. But yeah, I'm gonna wear them now. I will keep the box. Normally I throw the boxes away, which also takes away their value. People want you to have. 00:03:37 Speaker 5: The box right when you sell them retail. 00:03:39 Speaker 4: I'm not keeping Shanning three hundred boxes in my house. We're not gonna do with three hundred bock boxes. 00:03:44 Speaker 3: Well, if you buy that new house, you could have a whole room just a shoe room a box. 00:03:47 Speaker 4: Well, no, I may have a shoe room but a box room. But I'm not gonna have a box room. But I will keep this box. 00:03:53 Speaker 7: In this case, the box is maybe more valuable than the shoe if they have a lot of the shoes. 00:03:57 Speaker 5: Look underneath the box. Got all the players jersey numbers on that? 00:04:00 Speaker 4: Yeah, I got all the players nursing though. Let's let's do a quick Ryan Lemon test. All right, this is the ninety. 00:04:04 Speaker 5: Sixteen twenty sixteen. 00:04:05 Speaker 4: You tell me what player was each jersey. 00:04:08 Speaker 5: Here we go, double zero, Tony Delk three, Alan Edwards five, Wayne Turner thirteen. 00:04:16 Speaker 4: Oh come on, I know thirteen, and you can come back to Ze Mohammad fifteen. 00:04:21 Speaker 5: Jeff Sheppard twenty one, Cameron Mills twenty three, Erck Anderson twenty four and Hon Walker twenty five. Anthony Epps thirty two. 00:04:33 Speaker 4: Oh, oh, come on, you got it? 00:04:36 Speaker 5: Thirty two? Got it you're doing. Let let's go back to that, all right, thirty three, Ron Mercer forty, Walter McCarty. 00:04:45 Speaker 4: Forty one, Pope forty three, forty three, and then fifty one, thirty two, fifty one. I think I know who fifty one is one for sure, thirty two, forty three, fifty one. You you you have a chance to be perfect. Now I want you to think who you forgot? 00:05:03 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm trying to think I can think of the. 00:05:05 Speaker 4: Three players you've forgotten. So thirty two, forty three, fifty one one's still around Lexington a little bit. I don't know thirty games. I know thirty two, you know thirty two? Come on, you got this? Ryan thirty two, Jared Prickett y go, forty three and fifty one? Can he do it? 00:05:23 Speaker 5: Oliver Simmons is one of them? 00:05:24 Speaker 4: Okay? Which one? 00:05:26 Speaker 5: I almost say? Fifty one? 00:05:28 Speaker 6: Yes? 00:05:28 Speaker 4: Who's forty three? 00:05:29 Speaker 1: Oh? 00:05:30 Speaker 4: Can he go with a clean sweep forty three. Oh going once. 00:05:39 Speaker 5: He's not getting this Jason Latham. 00:05:43 Speaker 4: Look at this. 00:05:46 Speaker 8: Yeah, Express, that is really impressive to get all that whole team to get Jason Latham. 00:05:57 Speaker 4: I knew Jason Latham. I didn't think you were gonna get Jason lath. 00:06:00 Speaker 5: So I didn't know his number. I was just trying to remember who was on the team. 00:06:03 Speaker 4: That Shannon, you got him, admit, very very imp It's really good for this. 00:06:08 Speaker 3: You should give him the box for doing that. 00:06:10 Speaker 4: No, Trump, No, but I am proud of you. See like he doesn't know basic living facts, but he can name every number and player from the ninety sixteen. It's that big brain. Leman's big brain. 00:06:25 Speaker 7: I was gonna get him a pair of shoes. They didn't have an eight, so I'm sorry. 00:06:29 Speaker 5: Ryan, it'll make baby sizes they like, these are basketball shoes? 00:06:33 Speaker 4: Is that what you wears? 00:06:34 Speaker 5: Eight and a half or nine? Usually I got to squeeze in an eight. 00:06:38 Speaker 4: He wears an eight. Well, listen, you get one segment without me giving you a hard time. That was really good. 00:06:45 Speaker 5: Okay, that's fair. 00:06:47 Speaker 4: Jason Lather, when's last time you thought of Jason Lather today? Well, that's true. For that. I'm trying to just a minute ago, Matt, did you not hear me say his name? 00:06:59 Speaker 5: And like I got it was for sure if Pricket counted because I don't think he was really on the teammate or didn't you red shirt that year or something? And no, he played, He did play that year. 00:07:06 Speaker 4: Yeah, it wasn't that his senior year. 00:07:09 Speaker 5: Maybe it was Sheppard, it was Shepherd richer today. 00:07:12 Speaker 4: It was it was it was Prickett senior year. Yeah, well well done, uh eight if I'm nine, twenty two eighty seven. So he's in that brain mode because we did trivia last night. 00:07:22 Speaker 5: Our team didn't do very well. 00:07:23 Speaker 4: Yeah you didn't, but that's okay, you know, not everybody, not everybody knows. The question that I was surprised people didn't do better was in the col era. Who's had the best free throw percentage for a season? The top eight, So Shannon, you and Drew were not there. Let's quickly do that best free throw percentage for a season. Let me give you a hint about season. Deron Lamb had a really bad freshman year free throw excuse me, had a good career, but both seasons was like ninth. So he didn't end up in the top eight. So that's a little hint. 00:08:00 Speaker 7: Who's the top Well, I know the top two. It's em Manual Quickly and Taller hero Tyler. 00:08:03 Speaker 4: Hero Shine ninety three point seven percent and Emmanuel Quickly was like ninety two percent. And uh they were on the same team. So I mean that was a pretty good free throw shooting. Yeah, all right, so you got that. Those were the top two. 00:08:20 Speaker 3: Antonio Reeves Antonio. 00:08:22 Speaker 4: Reeves third, So you just got the top three, which is very well done. Top three, Uh, Drew and Shannon combined to get Now it gets a little hard. There's one more. I think it's pretty easy, and then it gets a little harder. I got one. I'm confident in you guys got the top four. This this is the smartest this show has ever been. We just no free throw shoo free throw shooters and numbers from the ninety six team. All right, now, five six, seven, and eight one of them I think's easy. I actually think five six seven kind of hard. Eight's pretty easy, I think. 00:08:52 Speaker 5: So we only got five of eight. 00:08:54 Speaker 4: This is Jamal Murray on there. Jamal Murray's not sorry, Shannon, Let's go ahead, give it. 00:08:58 Speaker 3: Let's get the straight. Sorry, just go ahead and give it. 00:09:00 Speaker 4: Yeah, anybody come on, ty Max, Tyrus done. A lot of people don't don't have tys Okay, now, still good stuff. Five and six are the two hardest ones. Yeah, five and six are the hard ones. Five shocked me. Six I might have got feel like it's gonna be a random like Derek Willis or something. It's a good guess, But no five or six is Julius Mays. Okay, but five, I had no idea that he was this good of free throw shooter. Was Darius Miller? Yeah, well only we just talked to him a few days ago. I had no idea that Darius Miller was had a top five UK season. 00:09:40 Speaker 7: Remember being good, wouldn't have had top eight. Yeah, I probably could have guessed fifty names before saying to he just came. 00:09:46 Speaker 4: I would have gotten Julius I mean, I don't know if I'd gotten even the top eight. But Julius May's underrated play because the team was bad, and people like because Nerlin's got hurt and Julius May's kind of was the best player on that tea. We have a view of him like he wasn't good, but he was he was good. He was supposed to be like the sixth man on that team. Well he ended up having to be the. 00:10:09 Speaker 5: Best player, leading scorer, and. 00:10:10 Speaker 4: He was the leading scorer, and people were not sort of used to that. 00:10:14 Speaker 5: Well, even Corey Price said, he only got three of the eight It's hard. It is hard. We got five of the eighties and he got three of the eight. 00:10:20 Speaker 4: All right, we're gonna go preview the game play Auburn on Saturday. We also will take your calls. I never know when to do things like this, but it's on my mind, so I'm just gonna start with it. I want to just take a second in in this segment and note in my sadness about the death of Wes Rutger. So for those of you that don't know, Wes Rutger was like a massive Tennessee Valls reporter forty three years old. He in my opinion, it was the biggest presence covering Tennessee sports online, especially on Twitter. If you have ever engaged about Tennessee on Twitter, you know who Wes Rutger is. He was the most passionate Tennessee reporter because he was a fan reporter and he was a Tennessee fan that you could have. And he passed away yesterday unexpectedly in a car wreck. He was riding and for those of you that know Knoxville, he was riding on the interstate there there was a traffic backup and I guess a bunch of cars chain reaction and he was killed. It really just breaks my heart. I mean, his story is tragic. He has a wife. First of all, he started on a fan site rose Up, has had a bunch of different jobs. He had a stroke a little while back, had to reteach himself to walk as a four year old who the four year old had a lot of health issues and that he's been dealing with that for years. He as a second child. His wife is pregnant with a second child. Oh no, he just posted about it the other day. We became friends over the years. I went back last night and looked at our DMS. Our first DM was in before the Kentucky Tennessee football game in twenty ten with me asking him to come on a new KSR. Back then, that was back when we first started. We'd only been on the air month. The best way I can describe it is that we were like internet friends. You know you have some of those. Sure, we talked all the time on the Internet, whether it was DMS or sometimes text messages. We only met a handful of times in life, but we shared a lot of similar interest, similar views. We both knew what it was like to deal with fan base that sometimes wild get mad at you, and we would talk about that. And he's just a He was just a really great guy. And he loved Tennessee the way we love Kentucky, like loved it. Would yell about the refs, would yell about times he thought they were wronged, would take up for him in the media, and he Yesterday I was watching the women's hockey game and I got on Twitter and the first comment I saw was him celebrating the women's hockey gold medal win. That's how he was. He was posted on Twitter more than I know. Yeah, he posted that at like three thirty, got in his car to drive home and died at like Oh. I want everybody to pray for his family, his wife, he has a child, another child coming. I can't imagine what they're going through. He's a great guy, great reporter, and just a girl eight Tennessee volunteer fan and in addition to thinking about him and praying for him and his family. Also, man, just appreciate life. He was posting about a hockey game and he was killed less than an hour later on his wife drive home from work. Life is fleeting and you never know what's gonna happen. So prayers to West Rutger, my friend and his family. We'll take a break and be right back. Welcome back, Take you Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, Text Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four in uh some world news Spring Court just struck down Trump's tariffs, So that'll be that'll be chaos because you know they raised all his money and now they're gonna pray have to give it back to people. How do they even know how to do that? 00:14:55 Speaker 5: That must have just happened because it wasn't on any of my news reports they listened. 00:14:58 Speaker 4: To on ninety four to five Mix tiney four one, anyone on the pre show, I didn't hear it, so yeah, So I mean, do we even know it really happened? For sure? 00:15:06 Speaker 5: Well, if it's on the internet, it must be true. 00:15:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, But if it's not on those shows, it's true. 00:15:10 Speaker 5: If Shannon Billy didn't talk about it, it ain't happening. 00:15:13 Speaker 4: That's a good point. 00:15:14 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, philosophy. 00:15:15 Speaker 4: Yeah, since it didn't happen, I'm not I'm not sure if it's real. Uk in Auburn play tomorrow eight thirty night game. Amazing day at college basketball tomorrow, Michigan and Duke playing a rare non conference February game. 00:15:31 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:15:32 Speaker 4: Let me say, I'm going on record as I have every year at this time, Kentucky should play Louisville in February. Right now, the week or two after the Super Bowls should be when Kentucky plays Louisville. That's what college basketball should do. They should have a array of non conference games this weekend they have won, which is Duke and Michigan. That'll be a great game. That might be one of the most watched games of the year. It probably will be, should be. Yeah. And then I think what Arizona plays like. It's it's one versus four. It's like one verses three and two verses four. Yeah, and then when those are over, we play like Kentucky would play Auburn, where two and a half point underdog at Auburn, Auburn just lost at Mississippi State. 00:16:19 Speaker 5: They've lost like a five in a row. 00:16:20 Speaker 4: I think lost five in a row. That's kind of how Georgia was. But we lost at home where two and a half point underdog Drew tell me we're gonna win Saturday. If we win Saturday, it's almost like the Georgia game didn't happen. I'll tell you whatever you want here. Yeah we'll win, sure, I'll tell you, do you believe it? 00:16:37 Speaker 7: I'm to the point I just don't. I can't set an expectation or even my brain. I can't even like predict or even think it will because they're so unpredictable. The moment you think they've turned a corner or put something behind them, you have a game like Georgia, I'll say, I'm hopeful we have a turnaround like we had. Vandied Arkansas is like short rest. They got right on a plane and went to Fayetteville. And I mean those were not day different games, just days apart. So I'm hopeful they can do that. But as far as expecting it, God to this team, who knows what will happen. But I they've shown that they can put a dud behind him and quickly fix it even on the road in the SEC And this is a team that's lost five in a row. They've got Keshawn Hall, who's awesome. He just had twenty nine in a loss. 00:17:18 Speaker 6: Uh. 00:17:18 Speaker 4: He's the guy you gotta stop right, Yeah, he is there. He's kind of the straw that stirs the drink. Were used to playing Bruce Pearl, a guy who's always been was a great tactician. 00:17:29 Speaker 5: This is Steven Stephen Pearl. 00:17:30 Speaker 4: Right. You know my theory, Shannon, The sons of really talented people are rarely as talented. 00:17:37 Speaker 3: Yep, look at Patino, look at another example. 00:17:40 Speaker 4: I mean, we've talked about this before. In all walks of life. It is very rare to have a father that's very successful and then the son be as good, usually much worse. Doesn't mean Stephen like like Richard, Patino's okay, but he's not Rick, right. I don't think Steven is Bruce, but will he beat us tomorrow? 00:18:00 Speaker 5: They're like Auburn's is as unpredictable as Kentucky as they went into Florida, and one at Florida. 00:18:06 Speaker 4: Even more unpredicted. They have a wild variance of score. Yes, you know, I mean they they had some games non conversations by forty five, and then they won by twenty against somebody good Arkansas. 00:18:16 Speaker 5: They killed Arkansas, beat Arkansas in one at Florida, and then they lost five in a row here. 00:18:20 Speaker 4: But we beat Arkansas and Tennessee twice. 00:18:23 Speaker 2: This is another team like Georgia, though, that's very desperate for a win. 00:18:26 Speaker 3: You know, they're they're fighting. 00:18:27 Speaker 4: They have to win to go to the tournament. Yeah, I mean because they already don't. They already have ten losses. I mean this will be our ten loss if we lost. But yeah, yeah they might. I think they have eleven twelve, Like they're running out of time. They gotta win. We we need to win. They gotta win. 00:18:45 Speaker 5: SOEs that scare you. Georgia had to have a win. They got it. Now Auburn's got to have a win. They're a little hungry. 00:18:52 Speaker 4: But I wasn't expecting to win this game. I actually kind of had this as a loss. But once we lose to Georgia, now we kind of need to win it again. 00:19:00 Speaker 3: Auburn is fourteen and twelve. 00:19:03 Speaker 4: Wow, yeah, I mean I don't but they have really good wins, so like they have a little but I don't know that they have a time. I don't know who they finished the season with. Do you have Auburn and the rest of their schedule. We've got Oklahoma, Ole, Miss, Okay, LSU. Actually they have easy teams and in Alabama. So if they they don't, maybe they don't have to win this one. If they can win that Oklahoma, LSU, O Miss stretch. But still a pretty important game and it's at home. I'm sure they'll have a big crowd. Yeah. 00:19:30 Speaker 7: Stephen Perrol pretty much said as much like their backs against the wall, they have to win this one. I Kentucky needs to win this one. I don't think it's the end of the world if they don't, But I worry about it, kind of falling apart a little bit. All that goodwill and excitement you built up whin an eight of nine. If you have that bad loss to Georgia, this would be three in a row, another game that you could win. I'll worry about it start to unravel as the schedule gets harder in the week's get shorter here as we get close to March. 00:19:56 Speaker 4: Now, I mean I've said to you that, like I don't think Kentucky is so to go to the tournament, and some people have pushed back on me on that. I think they win one more. They're probably good. You know, they just did that thing which I've done before, the little mock selection thing in Indianapolis. They stopped it for like eight years. They just restarted, okay, and they did it yesterday and Kentucky ended up a sixth seed. 00:20:20 Speaker 6: Did it? 00:20:21 Speaker 5: That's a little higher. And I thought they would be. 00:20:22 Speaker 4: Me too, But you read their schedule. Ours is a little different. Yeah, you know ours is a A and M Vandy Florida. This it's a different game. Ours is a different schedule. 00:20:36 Speaker 7: Well, Ken Palm predicts them to go four and one and us to go one and four the rest of the year. 00:20:42 Speaker 4: Yeah, so there you go. 00:20:43 Speaker 5: So for one and four makes what eighteen and thirteen. 00:20:46 Speaker 4: And I think eighteen and thirteen probably get you in, But I guaranteed, I think you got to make sure you win one in Nashville, right. 00:20:57 Speaker 7: And you'd have that record having lost six of seven in the year. I think they would take that into account. 00:21:01 Speaker 4: They're not supposed to, but you gotta think they did. If you got a head to head, you think they at least look at it. So I do think though you win this, when you beat South Carolina Tuesday, you're probably five back on track. Yeah, so big game eight thirty though nighttime Tom Artho, Tom mart and Jimmy Dits. It didn't work Tuesday. 00:21:21 Speaker 5: You know, the Auburn can be a tough place to play. One of the big teams roll into town, they are going crazy in there. When Kentucky Seeds to struggle down there. 00:21:28 Speaker 4: Really rock and that that's as good, if not the best atmosphere. 00:21:32 Speaker 5: It's when it's really going you think it'll be that way. 00:21:34 Speaker 4: Yeah, but remember one of the things we did well at at Tennessee and at Arkansas was keep the crowd out of it. Even at Florida, after the beginning of the game, we kind of did a good job. The crowd never really went nut like got nuts. 00:21:48 Speaker 7: Nuts, And I think that's maybe the nicest arena in the SEC. 00:21:53 Speaker 4: It definitely is. 00:21:54 Speaker 7: But there are times, you know, when Bruce had them rolling, it would be on fire. But they can they can lose interest. And if you can go in there and throw the first punch and take a lead, maybe that crowd kind of starts doubting and looks at a six loss in front of him in a row. 00:22:07 Speaker 4: Yeah, well we'll see. I they haven't been scared about playing on the road. No, we match up okay with them. I mean I think people are used to having Auburn having these guys that are impossible for us to stop. That's really not what this team is like. Keyshawn Hall is really good. That would be a good diabate matchup. That's diabate. This is another big diabat. 00:22:28 Speaker 5: You know we've done pretty well. 00:22:30 Speaker 4: Please don't put Garrison on him. 00:22:31 Speaker 7: Although I'm watching Garrison remember the belt to ask last year. Play that clip for Garrison the whole way over. Get him fired up. 00:22:39 Speaker 4: Yeah. Tom Hart, by the way, was on the Interrupted podcast yesterday. It's a good weekend listening for you. It will be good at In an hour interview with him, he talked a lot about Kentucky and I think people really like nice take a break very back. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:22:55 Speaker 2: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:22:59 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Joe. 00:23:01 Speaker 4: You do this most Fridays and it still makes me happy. I've told that many times, Shannon. I used to get in my car at five o'clock. There was a country station in Lexington that would play a version of this song that had all these like no, I make all these sound effects. 00:23:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, next year I could play that one. 00:23:15 Speaker 5: Play it. 00:23:16 Speaker 4: I loved it, and you can only hear it. You know. This is before you could just hear any song, right. And my friend Duncan Kavanaugh and I would always try to find something to go drive to at five o'clock because we liked it so much. You know, they play like and all this stuff on Friday, and I was like, it's Friday now. Yeah. Yeah, if you find that that don't make me happy. I probably haven't heard that in twenty years. 00:23:40 Speaker 3: We'll do it next. 00:23:42 Speaker 4: Now. I just want to get to the next second, and we'll go to the phone they find nine twenty two eighty seven text machine. You are a little slow on the text machine today, not as many as usual seven seven two seven seven four five two five four one person rights, Matt, give me the layman, stupid terms of what the Supreme Court did. So Trump put all these tariffs on other countries, which actually we pay for, but he put them on goods. Uh. But then he did it under what's called the Emergency Powers Act, which gives the president, like in times of an emergency of some ability to go around the regular constitution, right right, so like if we're under attack, president has powers under emergency Powers to do stuff that otherwise he would need Congress to let him do. He was saying, these tariffs are an emergency. I have to do it right now, and the Supreme Court was like, no, it's not an emergency. If you want to do tariffs, you have to do it the way the Constitution says, which means Congress has to pass it. It's not an emergency, so you can't do it. Essentially, that's the very basic So it doesn't mean he can't do tariffs. He just has to get Congress to agree to him. And he didn't do that. He just did it on his own. 00:24:55 Speaker 5: And then they're gone effective immediately. 00:24:58 Speaker 4: Yes, but then the issue is they've collected all this money with one hundred and fifty billion dollars in tariff money. Well they didn't say in the opinion, but somebody who's had the money taken from him is going to sue and want it back. And that's where it could really like if they've taken in all this money and then they have to pay it all back, and but the court doesn't address whether they have to pay it back. Would they win. 00:25:25 Speaker 5: Get their money back? 00:25:26 Speaker 4: I would think the answer is yes. I don't know how you can say that he illegally took it and you don't have to give it back. Uh So we'll see. That'll probably come up in the future. Hopefully it's all just sitting in a nice little tax county. Yes, we can remember they've probably already spent it, and which point, you know, just send it all back to everyone. So it's I mean, it's a big deal. It was the if you listen to the arguments though, this was what was going to happen. Two of the three justices Trump appointed vote against him. Voted against him, Yeah, because and they're right because and the Constitution's pretty clear. 00:25:58 Speaker 5: So six six y three Yeah, the other's nine justices, it's right, right, this guy, constitution math justices. 00:26:09 Speaker 4: If Jason Lathram was a justice, let's go to Will, go ahead, Will, Will? All right? No, Will, let's go to Taylor. 00:26:23 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:26:23 Speaker 5: How are you doing, mate? 00:26:24 Speaker 4: Good? What's up? 00:26:26 Speaker 6: Hey, I'm curious. 00:26:27 Speaker 9: About this c NI l IF acquaintance doesn't play. Yes, Is he get paid in all money? 00:26:35 Speaker 4: Almost certainly yes, unless they wrote the contract to say he had to play a certain number of games, which I have to think did not happen because I don't think a quaintance would assigned that. So generally speaking, yes he would. He would be paid regardless. 00:26:55 Speaker 9: Yeah, I was just curious. If you're sitting on the bench making money, I would guess. 00:26:59 Speaker 4: I mean, I no problem. I appreciate that I've not seen the contract, but I would assume Drew that he would not have signed a contract that was contingent on him playing if he was hurt or whatever. 00:27:14 Speaker 7: I'd be surprised that we're in there a guy coming off acl If Kentucky had put that in the contract, I think he would have found a school that wouldn't have had that in the contract. 00:27:21 Speaker 4: I am not I don't know what you think. I am not upset that they rolled the dice on that it was gravy. I don't think they were ever thinking that it was certain he was going to be a piece of this team. Remember they recruited four other big guys, right, So I don't mind them rolling the dice and seeing if it could work. 00:27:42 Speaker 7: Do you No, And I don't want to be mean. I'm almost more worried that the starting center of the plan was Brandon Garrison in the beginning in Quaintance was just like extra. I think you know, originally the starting five had Brandon Garrison and Trent Noah were in the plan. 00:27:59 Speaker 4: I think that was the plan. 00:28:01 Speaker 7: Yeah, No, it definitely was the plan at least so Acquaintance could get back and you could see. 00:28:05 Speaker 4: What he had and then maybe Marino. The bigger issue is not that Quaintans didn't play. It's that we didn't get improvement from Garrison and whatever they thought. 00:28:15 Speaker 5: Year two under Pope he would take a big jump up, like he said, a lot of these year two people do. 00:28:20 Speaker 4: Yeah, So I don't. I think that was a much much bigger deal. 00:28:24 Speaker 7: There's the injuries you can't control. There's also the plan he had before the injuries. The way those guys look now looks like that wasn't a great plan from the beginning either. 00:28:32 Speaker 5: No, I have a theory about Quaintance. This is just my opinion, but I think he's re injured himself in some capacity. Well else will they just completely shut him down? The knee continues to swell and they want to protect his NBA stock. 00:28:49 Speaker 4: So you think he not it's not just swelling. You think he might have gotten there. 00:28:51 Speaker 5: I think he may have re injured something, and that's why this is played out the way it has. 00:28:56 Speaker 4: He set the last game in the DJ stand. 00:28:59 Speaker 5: Shah putting on the bench. 00:29:01 Speaker 4: He was in the DJ, so I took a picture of that. 00:29:03 Speaker 7: It was all three of them, though it wasn't like he picked that spot, But why did k put them in the crowd? They were like three rows off the court, nowhere near their d UK put them there? Well, yeah, I mean they didn't just go pick that seat. It was him, Can Williams and Low together like nowhere near the team. 00:29:17 Speaker 4: It's like that point. So it wasn't just the All three were there. 00:29:20 Speaker 7: But I took a picture and even asked the guy's next to me is like, why did they sit them with it? 00:29:24 Speaker 4: They're like not even part of any of it. I just like, like in the crowd with the. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: Students' knee has been swelling for so many weeks, it's too big to physically sit on the bench. 00:29:31 Speaker 3: They have to move them more to a different section. So I was just like, you know that right now. 00:29:37 Speaker 4: Yeah, they shouldn't. They should put them up because then because it's not instinct as people blame yeah, and they're on their phones and I'm blaming them. I mean they're not. You want to them at least be close enough. 00:29:47 Speaker 7: Maybe they can say something to a team that they were behind, like the guy controlling the not just the DJ. But you know, the Repperina headset looked like media around them. They just had in a crowd of people. 00:29:58 Speaker 4: Austin, Go ahead, Austin, what's up the first time? 00:30:02 Speaker 6: Long time? 00:30:02 Speaker 4: Who are what's up? 00:30:05 Speaker 6: So, as much as I hate to say, I don't want to believe it myself, but do we think that Quaintance even wants to come back this season? 00:30:17 Speaker 4: Well, I mean, there's no way for me to know the answer to that. I genuinely believe you shouldn't disparage people's character unless you have evidence to do it, and I don't have any evidence that Jaden Quaintance is anything but a good kid. I've had two conversations with him that were both very pleasant, and he seemed like an awesome guy. So I'm not I think I understand why people would ask that question, but I don't know any evidence to think he's like just not wanting to play. I can understand why people think that, but like, I don't. I'm not gonna say that unless I know it. And if it and I don't know it, you see, you know what I see what I mean? Austin? 00:30:56 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, And then is it even possible for or say, if his knee is injured so bad? Is there a possibility of him coming back next year? 00:31:06 Speaker 4: I mean, there he is, But but he won't, I mean, and he shouldn't. I appreciate the call. I mean, we saw what happen when he came this year. He shouldn't. 00:31:14 Speaker 5: Even though he's not playing, he still projected a lottery picking. 00:31:17 Speaker 4: He'll he'll probably get picked eight through thirteenth, and then he should go. Yeah, that's what he ought to do. He'll he might be the highest non freshman picked, probably will be. 00:31:29 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:31:29 Speaker 4: Most projection is, yeah, he'll probably be the highest non freshman pick. So he should go. I don't know. There's no reasonable argument why he wouldn't go. 00:31:39 Speaker 5: I guess they'll have to going to go some maybe business stuff before him. 00:31:44 Speaker 4: He doesn't matter. He'll be getting paid for it, you know. And if you're Kentucky. On the other end, you can't rely on him another year, can't you know. I don't know that they were relying on him this year, but you can't do it again to defend him on one to play. 00:31:57 Speaker 7: I don't know what he's thinking now, but I'm pretty confident that around that window of the Saint John's game, he and his dad were both pushing to hurry up and get out there, and the staff was holding him back. 00:32:06 Speaker 4: Soon has that wanted to play two or three weeks before they did. 00:32:09 Speaker 7: I can at least say in December he was really willing to get out there. 00:32:12 Speaker 4: That might have changed. 00:32:13 Speaker 7: I don't know what's between his ears now, but at the time he wasn't running from it. 00:32:17 Speaker 4: Most remodels feel like your house turns into a construction zone you're afraid to walk through. It's so dumb. This is so dumb, Shannon, Ye you love it? Why did I like this so much? 00:33:09 Speaker 5: Got you ready for the weekend? 00:33:13 Speaker 4: It was just it's so stupid, but it would make me think, Okay, no more class. You know this makes it sound old, but Shannon, you used to not just be able to hear any song you wanted. 00:33:26 Speaker 3: I used to have to call up the radio and you know exactly. 00:33:28 Speaker 4: Like you, I liked this song, and I didn't have a George Jones CD. So like if I want, I knew Friday five o'clock, I could hear this song that. 00:33:39 Speaker 3: You could get your cassette out and tape it. 00:33:41 Speaker 4: Oh. I did that when I was growing up Top nine at nine in the Knoxville radio station. That's how I had. I probably in Middlesbrough have thirty cassette records of Top nine at nine and I would record just to get the song. Oh here we go. Now I can have boys to Men into the road without having to go to radio shack yep and buy the single. 00:34:05 Speaker 3: Right before Napster oh yeah. 00:34:08 Speaker 4: And then when Napster came, it was like the world had changed. Oh yeah, do you mean you can get. 00:34:12 Speaker 3: Every song you want. 00:34:14 Speaker 4: Like any song you want at any time? How's that? And then Metallica shut it down and I was like, I hate Metallica. 00:34:21 Speaker 3: I can understand why they didn't want it, though I undertoo. 00:34:24 Speaker 4: I do too, but I was like, Metallica, aren't you supposed to be like f the man? Like what are you doing? Some people still haven't forgiven Metallica for that their paycheck. 00:34:33 Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't like it. 00:34:34 Speaker 4: That's exactly right. 00:34:35 Speaker 5: I hated. 00:34:36 Speaker 7: You'd see the end of your favorite favorite music video or no, you just missed it on a countdown. It could be days because you see it again. Oh I just missed it. 00:34:43 Speaker 4: You mean top to listen to the Top nine at nine again tomorrow. I love the Top nine at nine. 00:34:50 Speaker 5: You saved all your cassette tapes. You still have them. 00:34:53 Speaker 4: I mean at some point my mom may have thrown them out, but I had them for a long time. And then you know, you switched to CDs. Yeah, and then it was just over. Then you were kind of on your own after that. 00:35:03 Speaker 5: It'd be fun if you pulled one out from the nineteen eighties to see what it was that. 00:35:08 Speaker 4: I like, yeah, I'm sure shy. If I ever fall in love is on there. 00:35:14 Speaker 5: Because you're a love Okay, if you. 00:35:17 Speaker 4: Wanted to see a dude whose mind was blown drew yesterday, you should have seen Ryan at the bar during trivia when they were showing the skiing uphill. Oh, you finally got to see it in person. 00:35:28 Speaker 5: It was live the minute we all walked in for trivia last night. It was live on the big screen. 00:35:31 Speaker 4: It was on there. 00:35:33 Speaker 5: Yes I couldn't, but they're going up a mountain and it's like a maze. They're going through like a little maze to get up there. 00:35:38 Speaker 4: But I was like, Shannon, look their skiing uphill. Remember where I explained to you that you could ski uphill. 00:35:44 Speaker 5: It's the dumbest thing. Then they take their skis off. 00:35:46 Speaker 4: Is it dumb because they go. 00:35:48 Speaker 5: They walk ski up a mountain, take their skis off, go up a flight of stairs, put their skis back on, go up the mountain some more. 00:35:56 Speaker 3: Can I get a chair a lift to take us. 00:35:58 Speaker 4: Up the mountain? That's sport, though, The sport is who could ski uphill? 00:36:01 Speaker 7: The fast I mean, I could say, why these five people trying to put that ball in that thing? 00:36:05 Speaker 4: That's dumb. I mean true, it's exactly right. Every sport is stupid if you look at it like that. Like the only sport that really makes sense is like running everything else or even running, like, why don't you just get in a car like I mean, you could do that for you could do that for any sport. 00:36:18 Speaker 5: But who's the person that said, let's make them ski up a hill? Go up a bunch of stairs and. 00:36:22 Speaker 4: Skim up a hill. I said this to you yesterday. They ski up a hill because in real life people have to ski up hills to get from one place to another. It's easier to ski than to put your feet in the snow, and they sink. The ski glides on the snow. So if you're walking through snow, think about how hard it is to walk through snow. If you knew how to ski, it would be easier to ski then it would be to walk. 00:36:44 Speaker 5: So why they put the flight of stairs right in the middle of it, Well, that's just to make it a game. 00:36:48 Speaker 4: The stairs are a weird addition. I will grant you that. 00:36:50 Speaker 5: They may can go down that little maize when they're going up the hill, Well, why does the dog show make them jump over the wall? 00:36:55 Speaker 4: It's just part of sports, like sports are to challenge you to do things. 00:37:00 Speaker 5: I had never seen that until yesterday last Steen. 00:37:03 Speaker 4: Is at least something that has a practical use in life. Like He's exactly right. Basketball has no practical use in life. We just created it out of nothing. 00:37:14 Speaker 5: But there are people in parts of the world to have to ski to get from point A to point B. 00:37:18 Speaker 4: Well, certainly used to. I don't know about now, but certainly that, without question, there was a time that if you lived in those places and you needed to go somewhere, scheme was much easier than walking through snow because you would glide on the top of the snow. 00:37:29 Speaker 5: I couldn't quit watching it. I'm like, you gotta be kidne me he was. 00:37:32 Speaker 4: That's why his team didn't do good. He was just focused on the. 00:37:35 Speaker 5: Had you had a Winter Olympic question last night? 00:37:38 Speaker 4: Yeah, the eight original sports. 00:37:39 Speaker 5: That's a good question. 00:37:40 Speaker 4: And what's interesting about the eight original sports is, for the most part it was all things those people had to do in life. Sometimes they actually had to ski jump, not for distance, but like to go from one ledge to another, so they'd have to take off and jump and then. 00:37:54 Speaker 5: Land jump and go to a Walgreens. 00:37:58 Speaker 4: It was a Walgreens, but they had to do somebody lee Lee, go ahead high. 00:38:06 Speaker 9: Okay. I am in Auburn and I come down every time UK place here. I'm from Kentucky's true blue. But I have family here and my nephew and I use his season tickets and I have the best time. That is the best place to watch a ball game. It's great and everybody is so nice. I don't think I've ever bought a coke myself or popcorn because if they see me with my blue on gol say oh, I'll get that for you. They've just always been super nice. First, I'm a lady, so I guess I have to do with it. Yeah, it is. But and when as a retired teacher, one thing I admire when they play the national anthem, you can hear a pin drop in there. Every kid turns around and faces a flag, and I mean it is just very respectful, and I've always thought that was just amazing. So but anyway, I'm in Auburn. Yesterday it was in the eighties. Today it's going to be seventy five. It's nice to be out of the snow and the zero. So I enjoy. 00:38:59 Speaker 4: Yellow and when we win, I hope they go big blue chat all. 00:39:03 Speaker 9: Right, And everybody around me knows me now because I come every year and they're all super good too, so they even clapped sometimes for a good UK play. So I just am having a death time and I'm very sweet. 00:39:16 Speaker 4: Then, well, Lee, thank you very much. I appreciate it. Let's go to Aaron. Aaron, go ahead, erin Yeah. 00:39:24 Speaker 6: These nil, del Do you know if there are performance bonuses built into these or if they can do that? 00:39:30 Speaker 4: I mean they can, I have not heard again, because there's no collective bargaining agreement in college sports. I think these contracts can say whatever they want, okay, but would. 00:39:43 Speaker 6: Perform bonuses be a way to motivate a little better? 00:39:46 Speaker 4: Do you think I'm going to say this? I feel like I've said a lot, but I'm going to say it again. If you're having to put performances bonuses in to motivate your guys, then you're screwing up to begin with. These other schools are motivating. These other schools are motivating their These other schools are motivating their guys. Fine, no, I've not heard of any. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I haven't heard of one yet by any school. Our problem is not money. Our problem is our guys are either not good enough or playing with energy. These other schools are doing fine, right, Arizona has Arizona has one law. 00:40:31 Speaker 6: The lease has to be short. 00:40:33 Speaker 4: Why Arizona's doing it? Why if Arizona pull it off. 00:40:37 Speaker 6: Why can't you saying the leash I'm saying the leash to for this kind of performance to be acceptable has to be short. 00:40:44 Speaker 4: Okay, Well that's a different point. But I appreciate, I appreciate the call. But but but but these other schools, you know, you can't. There's just this tendency in the nil area to go. It's cause the money these other schools are handling it. And by the way, they're always been dudes who didn't care. Yeah, there have always been good dudes that didn't try hard. There've always been dudes that were lazy like that's always happened, So it's easy just to go. Well maybe if we you know, look at the NBA All Star Game. Over the years, they kept trying to motivate those guys with money, money, money, money, they still couldn't get them to play. And then in this last game, for whatever reason, they just played. They got into it. Maybe it was because the USA versus World, I don't know, but they were into it. This year, guys are either going to be into it or not. I think our guys for the most part, have been motivated, but they do take plays off. But there have been kids for years taking qualified. That's like, there are high school kids making no money that take plays off. 00:41:46 Speaker 7: And there's been things you can fight over in the locker room since gonna be a time, from a parking spot to a girlfriend or whatever. 00:41:51 Speaker 4: You're right, like the problems we see have always existed, they're just in a different way. Now we'll take a break out of number two. I got something funny from Louisville, but we'll be right back
