Jazzy And The Pussycats (S18E02)
It's the one with The White Stripes! Honestly, that's probably the most memorable thing from this whole episode. Most of the story felt like rinse-and-repeat, with another "Lisa gets jealous of Bart's success" plot, combined with a bunch of Homer gags that simply do not land.
On a more positive note, we're back in the studio together! That's right, Guy and Dando are back in the same room for the first time in over three years and boy was it a lot of fun. It probably explains the 100+ minute runtime. Enjoy!

Yes, how on, I'm a defanzo skinny Palmer. This is Marcus Marbles Le Marques, please to meet you. We were about to play a quick set and we were wondering if you, Lisa Simpson, would do us the honor yes of sitting in that chair in the audience. We want to jam with your brother Fourth Finger Discount dude, Welcome to four Finger Discount of the podcast where we rarely do the show in person, but that's all about to change because this week we're here to review h ab F one eight It is episode two of season eighteen. It is Jazzy and the Pussycats. I am Dando and I am Guy and yes, indeed, Dando and I face to face. That's something that Nicola usually can say, but not about Sorry, there was a bit of an off color gag, but yes, we are actually in the same room. There is only a couple of feet of desk between us. I could reach right over and touch him. I will not do so. But we are here to talk about jazzing and the Pussycats together for the first time in approximately three years. You think, yeah, it's been since March of twenty twenty, so before the pandemic started. Because at first we're like, oh, just be easy to sort of do it from home, even though we live five minutes from each other. We're so lazy. But I just sort of you just get into a state of, you know, when because the pandemic started, he just got comfortable. But a lot of people still want to work from home. It's just it became them to the point where we did the podcast for so long that way that just became the norm. Didn't it very much the case? And we'll all say, you know, I had to unplug various microphones and headphones and put them in the car and bring them over, and I don't know, it resembled hard work, man. I was like, basically, people, it was like, once it was working, I was like, don't touch it, leave it. You flick a switch, I will kill you. And then the other Day patrons might be aware of this if they have heard our going down to south Park episode of Bigger, Longer and uncut the south Park movie. But oh my god, what a chore to get that up and running, because yeah, somewhere in the matrix, my laptop had decided to either upgrade some sound equipment or whatever, and as a result, my microphone and my headphones and nothing was working. No, it was like, we cannot recognize a microphone or a camera. I'm like, Jesus, guys, like, have you tried turning it off and turning it on? Just hearing through cleansed teeth, and I'm like, I'm trying everything. I finally took my computer to my very Steve to Steve, Yes, my very text tech savvy buddy, who he initially even he was confused by. But we spent a couple of hours it's like, okay, push this button or again, maybe downloads this, and finally found out that what was the problem. It was real tech, which I think is like audio software. Yeah, it had been. It had glitched somewhere along the line because my computer wasn't playing anything either. Man. I tried to okay, I tried to play YouTube videos and was silent and all that kind of stuff. So we finally got it, so an honest to guard it was like correctly dancing around. I said, can I can I give you some money for this or at leasing id door dash you some dinnery goes. I just hate having tech problems that I can't solve. The win is win enough, the winners payment enough. So I was like I said that yes, and walk out of there with all my money, dashed to my house and I got myself do it to celebrate, and then we recorded that night and everything, yeah, very smoothly, but oh, I think that was the That was the seed that got planted in Dando's mind and he was like, I don't trust that at all. I'm gonna have him bring all this ship over to my house and I'm gonna I'm gonna steer all right, I'm gonna I'm taking the wheel on this one. I don't trust my co pilot. Fucking no, no no. Basically, it was like I listened to like older podcasts when we first started, and I was like, you just can't capture that atmosphere, CanYa, when you're doing it over riverside or over zoom or anything like that. It's like it just doesn't feel the same. We listen to a podcast, you can tell they're in the same room, that is correct. Yeah, look and wherevery pro Riverside here at here at four ving discount. You hear that Riverside, But yeah, I mean it's a great piece of tech. It enables us to see one another. You know, it's pretty used a friendly ever it dunce like me, but you know nothing, there's nothing like the real thing. Baby. Yes, and so here we are. Yeah, not every show is going to be done in person because we do too many shows for you guys and just be too inconvenient. So that's where Riverside's very convenient. So all the other side shows we do, like talking signfl going down the South Park, what else did we do speaking of the Hill one of our friends obviously with Nicola, and all the other shows that we do are going to be still done by Riverside, but four figure discount. I think we're gonna try and do it as much as we can in person because it's just to try and capture that that atmosphere and that that vibe. Again. It is indeed, even though Nicholas lives in the same houses then, or they still do it by riverside. We don't. I don't want to be in the same room. What was his face to face business you're talking about. I hope Nikola doesn't listen to these Park. I meant it with all due respect, you touched on a bigger, longer and cut before. So we reviewed that for our exclusively on a Patreon for our going down a South Park fan, So if you are a fan of South Park, you can find that on our Patreon. But now with Patreon, the just brought in this new thing where else telling new about it that you don't have to subscribe to get access to things now, so we're gonna be checking things up in like our store. There's like a Patreon store, which means he can go online and he just order. You can cherry pick what you want and just pay like a one time fee and get it downloaded to your phone or to your what have you listening to your podcast on, which I think is a really cool sort of like new element that brought into Patreon because some people have a fear of I don't want to have to subscribe and I'll forget to unsubscribe. It's just money. That's coming in my wallet. It's a fear of committing to something. But if just say, you want to hear our review of biggerlong Growing card, you can go into our patreon now find find it in our shop, click download, pay the little one type a couple of dollars redus and you've got it yours forever. The French called a la carte. I don't look people on the end, and have been talking about this forever, you know, I mean so many publications, for instance, behind pay walls, and it's like, I don't want to pay this amount for the whole thing. I really just want that article. But at the same time I feel a bit of a guilty conscience setting up, like oh, I'm not going to name names, but you know, sides that enable you to bypass paywalls, Like no, I actually do want to, you know, reward these people for their good work. And yeah, by doing this you can record recorder reward yes for our good word, reward for recording for you. I was getting those two words sort of like jumble them in trunk, really hard to pull them apart and couldn't do it. But yeah, so that's available now on our patian. So it's what goes over an hour. We review bigger, longer, own cut, which is just it was as good as I remember to being. It really was, and it's a lot of us doing this. That's right, Tom. So come to Forefinger Discount if you want John love Its foys, and then go to go down to South Park if you want Tray Parker. They're not very dissimilar. I want to hear it was John love It's every one South Park. I don't think the trade Parker, John Lovett's off. Oh my gosh, Well there we go. You're the You're the king of you know, mash ups and yeah, videos and things like that make it happen. I just have fear. Just as you're talking there see behind you up from the wall there, I've got Walter and Statler from Muppets, right, but they're thinking, oh, that didn't sound good. I was starting to fall. It happened love of the show. None of us made that happen. That this happened by a spooky guy. I can't see what happened. Are they in a million pieces? Can you turn a man? Tell you what happened? Is it broken? They're in pieces? It doesn't look broken. It just looks disassembled. Okay, let's have a look. Okay, I'm gonna what this is staying in the show. We ever looked. You can come and take this. I'm gonna have to vamp on this. It does look a little broken. Oh boy, folks, if you've everyone wanted what a grown man crying looks like and sounds like, well, that's going to be our pal Brendan Dando in a moment maybe Okay, oh hey, he's back is I'm not upset because you can just click it back together. I'm not upset. I'm just disappointed off the wall. I'm glad that it fell off on the show though. I was like I could see something and you can hear it in the background. God, that was so fucking creepy because it were just like there's something behind you and then you're pointing and then to hear this. Why have you invited me over to a haunted house? It's wrong with you? But we want to get into the will. Yeah, all these funk pops could be your but the yeah, so you can also finally scusive and the patron we're gonna be doing margin was the monorail we're going to be doing for what was it the super Nicety for Seinfeld and a bunch, I mean, just got Tenam and must die as well. We are doing we are doing Skipperheads, we are doing Rewinds, We're jumping all over the shop. Yeah. Sometimes, you know, not taking the road less travel. I mean it can be entertaining and fun. I mean, particularly when you sort of end up with season eighteen, episode two of The Simpsons, Jazzy and the Pussy Guests, which was an episode that I was like, it just felt so much of the same stuff I've already seen before. Like in my notes, I had things like, you know, Lisa Bean jealous of a but be successful or something. We'll take it before the White Stripes guest appearance, wh still words, but it was so much. It was just like a rinse and repeat of Metallica. Don't you reckon It last week? Pretty much? Yeah, I mean when I first heard about it, I'm like, because I couldn't remember this episode at all, I was like, oh, White Stripes, it's cool. I mean, and you know, Jack White, especially I think has dabbled in acting. I think he's been in a few movies. I thought, well, they you know, maybe they're going to be, if not a pivotal part of the episode, a little more present than they were. But it was really just it was stunt casting. It's what it's become. It has become stunt casting. And I remember because this episode was heavily market I couldn't remember last week with Metallica, but this one was definitely marketed as guest stars this week the white stripes, and I was like, and what shripes were hot? Still at that point that their album came out, The Big One? What was the big one? Was it? I had seven Elephant Elephant which had hardest button but the hardest button to button, and seven Nation Army on it the really big one. And I remember being really excited for because I loved that album. And then when they were finished, I was like, Oh, that's really it. Then no, it's just a cameo, get it. I wouldn't cause the guest appearance it's a cameo. It is. Yeah, they're they're featured in a gimmicky little bit that really sort of was designed to show off what the animators could do, I guess, or it's like let's let the artists have a little fun, or let's show off what we can do. And it was fine because who doesn't like here in the riff from hardest button to button, and it's just it's just trying to replicate the film clip for it, because that's what happens in the film clip. But I did like the take there with the drums smashing together. Yeah, that sort of was that was simpsonized. But yeah, besides, I was like, yeah, this isn't really much at all. That's all you got to it. I mean. And the other thing about this episode was it felt like, well, what if I said here, something I've written down is you guys are working really working really hard to connect these two storylines that don't really seem that well connected. And they even acknowledge that. I don't think they've ever actually acknowledged that the story structure before. It's like, I didn't think they're gonna end up intertwining these two stories. And I'm like, you knew it was so forced you have to actually acknowledge it. Yeah, I mean, winning out that something isn't working is not necessarily an escape hatch. Nah, not at all. No, And I just thought that they tried really hard to make out some emotion with Bart's sacrificing the money at the end for Lisa's animal shelter. But it's like that wasn't even paid off. It wasn't what I mean actually building that shelter, Like what it just felt like what what kind of ending was that? It was very abrupt, wasn't I mean I had actually written ow, oh it just ended. Yeah, okay, yeah, I mean that's what it was. And I thought it was going to have like a bit more of a cynical ending where it's like all these people have rocked up and it's like we're going to fix Barts and we're not going to make an amusement park for crummy old animals. Yeah, but they seemed to not care. Yeah. I mean it was totally kind of all over the place, which makes sense for a jazz episode because jazz is all over the place, don't But yeah, sometimes it felt like it had that harsh ladder or sort of not latter day Simpsons, but this sort of teen Simpsons tone of and I'm sorry to keep up, you know, plucking all the same hard but family family guysh you know. I was like, yeah, let's be a bit crude and cruel and cynical, not too much, but a bit. But it's like, we're Bart with smoking weed, right, I'm like, hang on, this needs to be addressed, moll. This can't be a throwaway gag with ten year old Barts smoking weed in the attic with these two jazz musicians. Yeah. I mean, look, it's a sort of a tried and true cliche that I guess that jazz music was like weed, but yeah, having a ten year old boy doing it, it's a bit sus. We're not trying to be Scolds or Hallmontors here. It just doesn't really it doesn't sit comfortably at all. That would be the story that would be a plot point in the Simpsons. Yeah, because I just thought that the story what did I have? I did write what I think the story would have been better. I'd have made this more about Lisa becoming Bart's manager. She's realizing that they want Barts, so she's like, Okay, how can I get myself involved in this and hopefully they'll eventually see my talents. So she offers to be like Bart's manager or whatever, much like Gill does, and then she can be part of the jazz scene. But then she sees the side that she doesn't tend to agree with a bart getting brought into it, offered weed or whatever. She sees the dark side of the jazz. I say dark side, you know what I mean, like the side that she doesn't agree with, and then she starts to question whether this is her dream or not. It's a very good point, yeah, or a very good way of looking at it all. You know, things get way too commercialized, and Lisa's kind of like, well, I'm a true artist when it comes to jazz and all that kind of stuff. So she gets a little disenchanted with the whole scene or something like that, like Ned questioning his faith precisely, right, Yeah, I mean, and well, we had something not dissimilar with the I guess was the Idle episode where Homer became Lisa's manager. Excited yea, yeah, yeah, I mean, I know, I get the feeling this is going to be a bit of a theme moving forward. Before ving a discount us fixing episodes, Yeah, we say fixing, it's just offering our two sets. We're doing the ken Brock offering out two sets. But look, I mean, I can't I can't say this was terrible episode. I wasn't watching and go, oh my God, you guys have just lost it. But it just felt like rinse and repeat for so many differences. But to me, the Lisa getting jealous of bar success is such an old, boring story by this point. It's like, I've seen this so many times in the past. That's the side of Lisa that's never funny. Not really. No. I mean if we and we've seen episodes of Bart getting jealous of Lisa, I mean, yeah, one or two it means summer four foot two. Yeah, that's really the one that springs to mind. But I mean, if you're going to recycle this story, this story of Lisa getting jealous of a bar, then I'm sure you can do vice versa more than once. I'm sure they have, but not as many incidents spring to minds as this particular one. Hey, my favorite. Did you have any favorite moments in this episode? I did, actually look. I thought there were actually a few good gags, and it wasn't bad. It was just like I said, it was just kind of like, I feel like I've seen this so many times, that's all. It felt a little bit recycled, and also felt like, oh, I can really see the stitches here, like a bit of a Frankenstein's Monster. It's like you've sort of put a few things together. Well, this is really the season where they were working on during the movie. So I feel like, because I thought it season seventeen, apparently this season eighteen where you're going to really start to see not necessarily bad episodes, but just episodes where it just feels like they're kind of thrown in the towel a little bit, sort of going through the motions. Yeah, I mean even going through the motions is still you know, pretty enjoyable. Yeah, and in this case favorite moments from guy. I thought there were a few good visual games. One I really enjoyed was at the funeral where the I want to say pink bond walls, but they're not. They're they're tellable. Yeah, yeah, what do you call that? What do you call those little bats? I just got baton ball, That's what I've said. Yeah, okay, the ball from baton ball. They're going all over the place. One ends up in the throat of the blue Man groups as well eventually comes out like oh when he goes yeah, and he turns yellow because he's been blue as been joking. That's not bad. Funny. Oh, I've got more blue highlighted, but sorry, green highlighted my notes, and I thought I did. Maybe this struck home because I've mentioned the lovely Louise's little dog Raffie on more than one occasional the show, and people said, yeah, we don't want to hear about your dog, but that dog scratches at the back door a lot, sing I want to get a time and then it goes it's other two seconds. I want to come back in, damn dog. But the ghost dog scratching at the door I thought was actually not too bad, not too bad. Speaking of one liners and wordplay, I really should have written down the names of all the jazz musicians on but there was too many. I started. I was like, no, I've stopped too many. So Dan and I have a gentleman's agreement. We're not doing that's not going to be a Drivia quick And I was just like, I know, I felt like not that the episode was running along, and I this gag. Is it funny anymore? They said, it said way too many? Yeah, I mean there are instances when a gag can go on too long and it sort of circles in on itself and it's like I always become funny again, I mean Brakes in Cape Fears. But yeah, this just was like and either you've gone way too long, you've done another, you've done one too many rounds of the circuit, or you haven't gone far enough. But it was it was twenty two mini rakes. Pretty, that's very bizarre. I was like twenty names you've had out there were a hell of a lot. It was like two like gag Ones amongst all that. I was like, oh god, the one I liked was pre marital Sex Dead. Yeah, that was pre marital sex Dead. I thought, what was pretty? He said riches Akai, who is just And there was there was a Graining a cameo in this again was and I know George Meyer. Was it George Myros when he was walking past the down the street George Yeah, Graining, Like I know that who kind of looks like Mac Graining. Yeah, yeah, anyway, But what else I have sort of touted myself. I was like, I like Yazz and I don't know. I think my taste might be what the kids called basic Bitch. You'd like that album down there, that Dynamite one. This the soundtrack that the White Vinyl s there, oh dolomite, dolo white, so not done dolomite, oh man. But yeah, I do enjoy the jazz that I enjoy, and I know that jazzmins's gonna be self indulgent enough that this gag actually was pretty funny. This the gig goes for eight hours and there's two songs. Yes, And speaking of signs, the fact that the the circus was closed by popular dem I wouldn't see that line. Okay, it's that signed alright, mine were so the White Struts crashing into bart. I like that little piss take. I like the Blue Man Group spinning at the balls. I was like, that makes sense. And I liked the lease of walking sequence, which I thought you would have appreciated it as well. Very resivoi dogs. It was using a little green bag like that. Yeah, and also it's the there's a shot where she's walking with the raccoon, the bird and on the front cover of the Getaway Chili Pepper's album, It's got the bear, but here she had other animals. But that's why they had the raccoon and the bed. Yeah, because the girl walking down the street has animals. There we go, next question, You're there eating the baste. All right, it's time now for some and trivia. Before we do that, we're going to read out, well, I'm going to read out the name of our incredible supporters. I'm Patreon, our Patreon producers as i'd like to call them. Oh, that's a new one. I don't think I've ever heard you call them that. Yeah, we never hit them with the names and new idea. I'll do that later. Yeah. Yeah. So we've got Katie g for a seventy dollar support again, and Andrew zur our main man with the fifty dollar support. So randaplause for those two. Thank you so much. And of course the following people give us five dollars per week, so they are also Patreon producers. We've got Jordan Mohman, Richie Christopher Darby, Jonathan Rossi, Zach Pruett, Timothy Belson, George Mcmanami, Stephen Roberts, Sean Davy, Pete Anderson, Andrew Davis, Ryan Dunlap, Jared Howard, Kevin Dentzel, Planned Flood, Joel your Land, Daniel Kotnick, Shannon Hoofer, Reese Roberts, Bellow, Winderbank, Mark Boston Burgess, Jack McFadden Heath. That will be Adrick McLeod Lewis Kavanaugh, Mark Trellivn Ginger, and Pickle Preston Murray, Talia Lara, Jake Mussado, Declan Phoenix, and the following people have just joined the fourth Discant family. As of this week, we've got Tyler, Trent and rache Beasley. Thank you so much for being our supporters of ours on Patreon. It's been a long time since I've heard those names dropped from Dane's lips. It was like revisiting old buddy. I gotta say I added a loop here, but you said Talia Lara, Yeah, it's not I don't know, it's Enriquez. I don't know, is she She's not Enriquez anymore? She tied the knot what's going on. It might be a different person. We might have two Talia's, or its Tali or Talia Is it spelled the same with nah, because Talia or Talia Enriquez has th h This is thah, So this is Talia. I reckon. Oh okay, that's oh wow, We've got hey whi Enrique? Yeah, come back. Very nice to hear from all of you, Very nice to hear those names again and thank you from the bottom of their hearts and other parts. Because yeah, like, as we like to say, you keep the wall from the door and you keep the lights one Dano and Risotto and me and door Dash. What's your favorite? Door Dashmo? Like, well, you're you have like favorites. I'm assuming you'd be one of those people has like favorites, right, Uh. Yeah, Well I haven't dont As for a while, but it was it was Macis for a bit and are back when the Macis bandwagon. So I haven't had it for six months whatever. I had some I don't know what you have. What I want to say, the traditional quarter band of mill is it because they had the monopoly Again. No, I've never really played the I'm just trying to get the free ship. But I think I was into like, oh, they've got a raspberin custard pie. I kind of like the limited edition. Limited limited. I'm utterly predictable at this point and always have been. I'm sorry, but yeah, limited stuff. I mean, I'm looking at the menu now, it's like we're bringing in the mccrunchy and I'm like, oh, I can just imagine I have like a board meeting at like North Sholomcdon's going, Davis hasn't been here for like three months down what are we doing? It's like, I mean, what was the flavor you just said, raspberin casters, raspberin custard pies. Can we bring that back? He might? And the like they played the trade, They played the ad on TV and you look at the windows. Just the work of standing at the front like Michael Myers of the knife, but the holdier bag with apple pie and everyone's want to slide in the door and leaving it My funniest thing, right, speaking of ads at work add songs at work. So I mentioned it recently that Alliott likes the KFC song. Right. So we're watching the Porpatron movie yesterday at the cinema and they start playing that song right that I love it, Rights, It's like the finale song they're getting the bad Guy. And Elliott just told me songs goes. Does somebody say KFC? Everyone's in a pistoimselves laughing, what a little listen? Does somebody say KFC? I normally don't approve of people sort of doing the mystery science. The other thing in crowded cinemas and like, I'm funny in the movie. Check it out. But honestly, that would have cracked me in a five year old. It's brilliant. Having said that, I discovered a very nice menu hack, not a not a menu hack. You'll be on the menu hacks. I'm like, and they've d hacked it. You can't do it anymore. I'm so sad. Yeah, man, that's that is a damn show. But on the on the door, Dash discovered a local restaurant called Dante's Hot Chicken. Chicken in the titles immediately captures my attention. Yeah, especially if it's hot chicken. Yeah, hot to it. It's like, oh sort of actually yeah, chuck on, You're like shit, oh yeah, but no, I had a very nice meal from them the other night. Okay, where they look they are they're based on cry I believe. Okay, cool, this good luck Chicken joints out that side of Gelong. It's like, I don't dare venture that territory. It's like, but they've got good food, bring it to me. I'm happy. Don't make me go there. If New Roadhouse right has like upgraded, like million dollars upgrades it's like a fancy restaurant now, like a truckers. You're going in and it's like vintage cars around and stuff, and they're got to drive through and everything. Oh my gosh. Okay, well and you get it. You can get a Palmy drink and chips for eighteen dollars. That sounds very reasonable. Yes it does in these particularly tough cost of living times. It's pretty good deal. Yes, very good deal. Indeed. So it come to Gelong people and ride the road, go to Creo and they just opened up the it's called I'm trying to get them on board like support, like support the show general public. So basically it's like time Zone combined me with tenpin bowling combined with like an eady like uncle most family feedbag combined with like slate bar all in one place. Holy shit, it's downstairs at Kryat village. Now it's a whole you go down. It's just like unbelievable. All right, we'll get on the phone or visit them in person. So, hey, you want to be part of four finger discount, Get out of here, do it? Do it? Guys? All right? So my first trivia question anyway, trivia. Oh you hit me with your first question. First of it, I'll go first, all right, I shall get my notes back up. My first trivia question for you is what is Homer's Mexican wrestling ame. It is tuckle Belly. Yes, correct. That sounds like a name of a restaurant. It sounds like a name you'd give a restaurant. Yeah, and have like a fat dude. It's like your logo. It's a very happy Hispanic gentleman. I'm very happy. Oh my god, we're getting canceled. Speaking of names, what is Homer's vague wife's middle name? I didn't pay attention to that as Amber, her last name was not heard? Was it was? I heard? She actually kept her married names. She went by Simpsons. Did she care? What was it? But her middle name was pie Gal? Okay, what do you think of that? We'll get to that when we get to the episode. Let's leave something something actually of the show. What next one is? Sorry is I we've already done it? How long was the benefit? And you've already answered that one before eight hours? What's your next one? My next question is what record label did Homer one bart to sign a contract? Oh naw, you got me again. What is it? It's groove tone. Roove tone, that's the one. Yeah, he's very big on groove tone. Wasn't he loved groove tone? There home seems like a bit of a jazz fan, even though he never really sort of listened to it all that much. On the show, he brings it up a lot. I think it's sunk in by osmosis just by having at least just playing all the time like that. Yeah. My fine one for you is what was the subheading of the sugar sheet? What was on the front? Oh it was we asked these of the questions blow and didn't ask we not with bart because the same thing. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, I was actually gonna you ever have a rivalry when you were working at it, like say for the Addie Wall who was a rival for the Addie because the Addy pretty much runs the town when it comes to newspapers. Certainly did, Yeah, I mean no, I don't think we think we were kind of like swing around like the big Dog. I mean, you know, there was the Geelong News and the Gelong Independent and all that kind of stuff, but the Independent was across the road, right, Yeah, the Gelong News was actually part of the Addie, I guess family family. Yeah, yeah, So no, I don't think we ever really had any competition. I mean, I know when I was working for Impress up in Melbourne, which is now called The Music and doesn't actually get published anymore now it's just online. But there were two street papers in Melo. There was Beaten Impress, and I was over mind that. I mean, I actually sort of lovied to work for both when I first sort of throwing my hat out there, and luckily I got impressed. But I think be thought though, were actually pretty good enough. I think they actually are still around. So but yeah, but there was a bit of a rivalry in that case. But no, the Eddie was like, well you can't completely You've got guy Davidson, boy Kenya. That is correct. All right. On that note, let's get into a review of Jazzy and the pussy Cats. Let's see, have one more question for me. I had a few more, shright, hit me with two more and we'll get into it. Okay, what was the name of the circus that Lisa took all the others? I was like, shameful brothers. It was the Shameful Brothers. Indeed, And what was the nerve that was going to be reattached in Barts. Ah fuck na, no, no idea. It was the All Nah, which could be an actual nerve. I don't know who. No, I'm not a doctor. No, I wouldn't be podcasting about the Simpsons if I was. So. The visual air date of Jazzy and the Pussycats. Actually, before we get into that, the title is a play on what It's pretty obvious this one, but well, paint the famous all girl trio from the from the Archie cartoons. They pretty much like Scooby Doo rock and roll band, I think so. Yeah, yeah, I mean they were a band who solved mysteries. Right, I've never read the comics and watched the show, but yet I only vaguely remember there was a bit of a spin off and yeah, okay, yeah. During the opening, crowds like, are they like solving mysteries? Are they been chased my monsters? I thought they were rock and roll band? What's going on? But anyway, but they also made a movie Jo. Yeah they did in the early two thousands. Any good, it's great. Actually, I was really surprised because you know, I went to gonna It's gonna suck yeah, and it's really smart, really funny. The three leads are fantastic, one of those Rosario Dawson aka really yeah, yeah, yeah, and no, it's a it's a lot of fun. It's a bit of it. I want not even a Colt hit. It's kind of a did well it did it did Okay, did pretty well. But yeah. Ever since then, it's like, you know, it's really good. It's Joey and the Pussycats, and you'll have a lot of you know, middle aged dudes like me saying, yeah, it actually is pretty good, and not because it's three good looking ladies playing music in Pussycat kind of like Charlie's Angels where they just people didn't expect it to be good. And I was like, oh, it's actually not bad. Yeah, it's got that same sort of sugar rushed nostalgia as well. Yeah yeah, no, it's it's a lot of fun. Okay, cool, I might check that one out, all right. So the air date was September seventeenth, two thousand and six. So how long ago was that twenty seven? Fifteen, seventeen years ago? Twenty Yeah. I was like, it's like, not twenty seven, it's not fifteen there's something between a process of elimination, we'll get there, or we could use the calculator. Yes we could. Yeah, so ten days ago it was seventeen years to the day. It was written by Daniel Chun, who went on to become the head writer of The Office, the US version, which apparently they say they're going to reboot. Oh shit, really yeah, yeah, I'm not I'm keen on that, nor am mine. All I say, I'm not really a huge fan of the you know, I only started watching it when our man Pat writ and his lovely wife Katie started doing the Office Top podcast. Yeah, and I've always been going to watch it and I've enjoying it. But basically what I'm doing is I'm watching it along with the episodes because I'm editing it for him. So I'm just like, I don't want to get ahead. I want to enjoy it with the podcast. But yeah, I'm enjoying it so far. There is a lot of like, really really awkward humor, to the point Whe'm just like, I'm feeling uncomfortable and not in a funny way. All right, Yeah, I mean no, I don't know. I'm just not a huge fan of that whole mockumentary breaking the Fourth Wall, and it's just been done too much. Now yeah, and I mean this is me showing my age as well. But I mean I don't like comedy that seems sort of built for the memes, and a lot of that seems like it was built for the memes. I mean, if I ever see someone not ever because you know it's going to happen again, but someone backing up a claim they've made on social media with that Dwight shrewd thing of sort of him whispering it's true. Yeah, although it's happening, it's happening. Yeah, or anything with Steve Brown. I'm like, here's an alternative point off mean that people, and it was directed by Stephen and Dean or he's been with the show for a very long time. I'm going to favorite episodes are in March, be not Proud. There was no chalk gag this week. There was a catch gate Dog, which I really enjoyed. I liked the King Kong one. Yeah, it wasn't bad. Were Homer is King Kong pan out from the house and it's basically in the building as opposed to the house. There was a kicks off with the funeral for Homer's Vegas wife Amber at the at the church, which point I've written, we talk a lot about continuity on this show. Do we really need it? And we're going to be including things like this, Yeah, I don't know. It's like, why can we have Bart interrupt I know, the funeral for Homer's ex wife. I don't know. Just maybe they just wanted to just get that over and dumb. It was sort of like a cloud over the family that Yeah, I think they needed, they needed, but to act up in a way that would require some form of intervention because we're used to im acting up and it's kind of like, oh, Bart will be Bart. But if he really sort of goes overboard at a at an event that's meant to be sort of somber and you're meant to be respectful and he just turns it into an absolute shit show, there's a good chance that they're gonna have to sort of seek some form of treatment or whatever, which you know is the inciting incident. Why the funeral was in Springfield, though, is beyond me, because she went back to Vegas. Yeah, on legs odd but whatever. As I said, I think they just wanted to wrap up that little plot line. They left, didn't they They came back to try and they said because they get divorced. Because they came back they tried to like take over the family again something like that. Yeah, and yeah with them not a not a great episode, and that they ran away. I know then they ran away with whoever. But yeah, just yeah, it was just odd to have her return as Buck calls a malt like a mummy, and all the people from the casino were there. She overdosed apparently. I did like the gag of the sign says to set up on a roller coaster, she ever dosed in front of it. I loved how sort of snippy Marge wasn't about as you would be though. Oh god, it's like class all the way. It's like you won. She's dead. But I don't know. I just feel like if Nicola had like an ex husband. I like that guy especially, it was just like a stripper or something. Well, it was magic, and she was already with me when she started going and getting made with it. You would be just fun being upset. Yes, but this is a very two thousand and six thing where but puts the laser on Reverend Love Joyce. I was like, remember when that was a thing? Oh, it's right, you realize you could crash a plane doing that? Could you? Could you? Could you actually blind people? Maybe you've got in the right spot. But like there's always that fear when a kid at school have when I was like, really scared I could get blinded by this thing. Yeah, And there's aways that one kid used to like shine it in your eye just to be a prick. And it's like, why why are you doing this? Oh, by the way, I've got a story. Oh my god, how did I start with this? Holy Molly? All right? So you may have noticed how Gara's door has got three footprints in it, right, you didn't notice that yet. I did not notice that, but I will. I'll have look on the way out. So it is Saturday. Nice? Actually sorry, now you have four so four I've basically given away the story. Basically what happened was four so nights to be on Saturday night, we hear this boom. Why here is banging at two o'clock in the morning on the garage door. And I was like, sound like something had fallen over against the garage door on the inside. So I went and so I had to look nothing. Now, I'm like, weird, what Maybe the wind blew it, maybe a bird flew into it, who knows. I looked at the front I couldn't see anybody, and Nicholas like, what are you doing. I'm like, I think someone fell over and something fell over in the garage. She's like, oh, Bud, And in about ten minutes goes by me. Yeah, boom boom on the garage door again. And I immediately started going, that's definitely someone banging on the garage, right, So I locked the first thing it was. I locked the garage door from the inside. Think someone could be in the garage. I lock it right. I go in the house, just locking every door as quietly as I can. I was like a little bit scared, right, well, it could be home inversion. Yeah, yeah, I'm thinking this could be people in their backyards. I'm loocking all the doors, and as I'm bad to hop back into bed, I look at the window one more time. Behind the curtain. I said, this figure coming across our neighbor's lawn towards our house. Again. They look like that was sort of stumbling, and I was like, oh shit, we got an is adict or something, just like he's gonna be banging on the door. I'm like, oh God, I said the nickel pinna get the cops on the speed die because this guys coming back again. And for some reason, I don't know what got into me. It's kind of like when Nicholas saw that guy that gave us the fake ticket on the subway in New York. He's about to come to the house again, and asked, went what the are you doing? And the person fell over, sort of stumbled, and I ran out the front. It didn't even think it just sort of ran at the front. And they went into a house about four houses down the street, over the back fence, and I realized it was a young kid and Nicholas, it's those fucking boys live over there. Say boys live over there, right. So the mother had left twelve unaccompanied the miners, the oldest being fourteen, at their house and going to her boyfriend's place and left them by themselves. Boy and they thought at two in the morning they'd go around and start kicking people's garage doors in because that would be funny, right. So I'm at the front of the street at like twenty pasts two in the morning, saying get them out here. Now you've got thirty seconds to come out here and explain yourself. I'm getting the cops here. Blah blah blah. The two boys that lived there came out, Oh, we're so sorry. We were asleep. We didn't know what happened. They came inside saying, turned the lights off and locked the doors. Blah blah blah. Eventually got the kids at the front, and it was like tandem standing at the front, and I said, look, I don't care. I was young once, you know, but I threw rocks on russe and prank phone. So I didn't keep people's garage doors. And I said, soon you'll be my age, and you'll realize you have to work hard for this ship. So either his parents are paying for it, his mothers paying for or your parents are paying for it. So I got the kids named blah blah blah blah, and he admitted that he was just fly kicking at garage. I'm like, what's wrong with people? Yeah, what is wrong with people? So basically, then like the mother the next day came over and she was like, oh, yeah, I know. I told him he's a dickhead, you know, And I was like, it's actually not funny, like, yeah, he's broken our garage door. By the way, do you bring a checkbook? Yeah? And she's like she's like, oh, well, likes his mum said, his dad's gonna pay for it. I'm like, can have his dad's phone, Uber, then don't have his dad's phone ver, but I've got his mum's phone. Numb like, can have his mum's phone, um, But I don't think she want me to give you the phone number. I'm like, well, you've got to the end of today to get me with the dad's phone number. We're always going to pay for it, or we'll have to get the police involved. She's no, No, I don't need to get the police involved. I'm like, well I will if you don't give me the details of the person who's going to pay for the door. And of course I have not heard from this person since. Oh my god. So I've called the cops and the cops are gonna come over. They're like, wait a minute, how many kids were there? I was like ten. She's like, where was the mother? I was like, at her boyfriend's place. But when I called up the mother the next day to say I've got a phone number. She was like, oh, I told him they weren't ready, but they set me out anyway. I'm like, they're twelve and fourteen. They didn't send you anywhere. Irresponsible, bitch, What I mean, sent you out, That's what I mean. She's like, your kids are twelve and fourteen. You let them have it. Was like, I think it went to be like twelve thirteen kids over, the oldest being fourteen. And she said they set me out anyway. I'm like, you went to your boyfriend's place. Oh god, you know what it is as the kids parents don't actually know. The kid's mother doesn't actually know that she was left. He was left by himself without any parent there, which is why she doesn't want me to get in contact with the mother because she doesn't know the father. She only knows the mother actually drove past the house yesterday when I was kicking the ball of Elliot at the front, and she put her head down and did this. I'm like, you're there, you're not elon musk. It's not a self drug. So she like made it. She was trying to change your radio. She put her head right down looking at it, and I was like I know where you live. I could literally like fart and you could smell it. That's how close you out to my house. You should be a shame. You should be bloody putting your head down. But still she was like, oh, I don't think this needs to be replaced. You probably just popped that back out. I'm like, no, bitch, this door was fine until the kid that you left uncompany kick it in for no reason. What So we know She's like, oh, you know, kids are kids. I'm like, Nana, nah, kids, you are correcting. The kids are kids, yeah, except this kid's a little shit. Yeah. So I've heard nothing from her since. I've now been on the phone to the police this morning, and hopefully my garage door will be replaced very soon. Oh my goodness. Well, good neighbors do not become good friends. And we found out that apparently at quarter to two that night, a car was set on fire just around a corner from our house and a driveway, which I had no idea about. Coincidence, I fucking think not. I can't was that on fire. I cart was set on fire in the next street over at the front of their house. We got to get you out of here, and the last night, we were at the front and Nichola and I were standing there and we capt eleven kids walked into that house last night again and she wasn't there again. I'm like, how dumb are you you to have this incident happened and then leave them unaccompanied again. His boyfriend must be a wizard in the sack. But basically, the cop was like, I imagine she's just like, fuck, these kids want to get away. The cop was like, just so you know, this is probably gonna be a child Services Services are incident now, because like, we can't have these kids being left by themselves, not if they're kicking in garage doors and quite possibly quote unquote yeah, holy moly, Oh my god, that's dreadful. So that was my Saturday night, and Aliet was it. He was in bed with this and he was terrified, tooking two hours to get back to sleep. He thought it was a monster outside. Yeah, oh man, oh god, Bart is looking angelic. I sort of kept my call when she came over and I said, but the thing is, though, like Aliet was terrified. He thought it was a monster as fire and she's like, oh, poor buggy, he'll get over it. And I said, no, we fucking won't. He said no, because get over, Like, no, what's wrong with you? My kids nervings are dead yet unlike yours. Yeah. So yeah, anyway, like I said, that was my Saturday. I watched the footy. So if you ever hear a bang on the garage door, don't think it's a bird's probably some child around the streets fight ticking it. And he's like, it's any constant because he was crying and stuff. It was any constellation. I think I've broken my toe. I'm like, mate, no sympathy from me. Yeah, I'm happy for that tiny bit of calma. But Fokey comes out and he goes, if it's anything, here's a dollar. I'm like, can't want your fucking dollar. I want your phone. No, get you get my money back, come back to me. I don't know. Maybe six hundred more times and maybe we can talk. Yeah. But the fact that I haven't even heard from the mother since I'm sorry I had to go through, that's you know, it's it's a red flag when we don't have to get the police involved. Yeah, because I think the police have been involved. I'm more than one again. Oh boy, I'm sorry, he had to go through that. The police involved Comma again again. Oh that's terrible. I'm gonna have a look at the door on the way out. It's funny how I just heard the term Motlock mummy and just reminded me of the story class all the way. Yeah, but yeah it was it was the laser. Yeah, so he's doing it, unloved Joy. He's basically just interrupting, being very disruptive. How many times going to start a story by having Bart's disruptive? He needs like drugs or he needs something else. At least this time they didn't put him back on drugs. But no, no, I mean, well we'll get to it, and we get to it. But yeah, the whole, the whole. The way the child psychologist or psychotrists explained you know why I'm putting him on drums as opposed to drugs. I thought it was actually pretty good. We'll talk about that in just a minute. I would just as well skip through to because basically just interrupt the Carle speech. Love joins up checking on the bat and ball. At first, I was like, where do these balls come from? Then I skipped back and then I saw the Blue Man group guys like when all these extra balls come from? Because I was taking notes, but yes, everyone's starting now choking on balls which came out of the Blue Man group, and everyone's pissed off at bart So we're now at the child mel I know in the Patrion group, like, let's start a tally one episode, so fast season eighteen, No side. Joe Meldon bang straight away on the board because I saw him behind Barton. I was like, yeah, here we go. Yeah, he's gonna say something. He's gonna have to say something. Of course he does. So they go to the child psychiatrist where imaginary friends come to die. I missed that part. That was the sign. Whenever I think of imaginary friend, I think have dropped dead. Fred Can like, did you like that movie when it came out? I loved it when I was a kid. It's very immature. I watched it a few years ago and I was like, I can see why five year old Brendan probably shouldn't have been watching this. Enjoyed it. It's a little bit much for kids. The Mega Bitch and yeah, yeah, yeah, I think even am Igin thinking this is just a bit much. I like Rick Mail, who doesn't like Phoebe Kate's. But at the same time, I was like, no, this is just a little over the time, a little too much. Yeah, yeah, yeah, But he thinks that Bart is seven because of his behavior, but now he's actually ten. Hams suggests put him on drugs, but then the psychiatrist suggests the drum kit, which you wanted to elibrate. Yeah, oh, I just like the way he explains, like drumming, rise, energy, and concentration. He's got too much in one and not enough of the other. Yeah that's logical. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, it really does. But Bart is only enjoying it because he's imagining hitting Homer's face. And I remember specifically this was part of the promotion for the episode. Yeah, I don't know. Some episodes just seemed to stick with me, and I can remember specifically watching this one because it was the White Stripes one. I remember being excited for because I thought it was going to be a White Stripes episode. But yeah, I'm not sure I ever saw it when the first hit, Yeah, I remember watching it for sure. But then we get the hardest button to button take off, which is just taken off of the film clip which as a White Stripes fan, I enjoyed, but it just felt like the White Stripes cameo was a little bit the same. Same to Metalis a bit black last year as the same kind of thing. Remember last week when I was playing like don't and it's motto moving to the the beat of the music. This was the same thing where they was like chasing off the bart. No, no, no, I'm like, it just feels like you've just done the exact same thing. But then we were checking it out. It wasn't time. Hey kid, why don't you watch where you're drumming? Sorry, White Stripes, no hard feelings, let's kick his ass. Ah did they actually work it? So? Jack White and Meg White were married, no married, Yes, they weren't never brothers. They weren't brother and that they created that that whole thing. It's kind of like the same in the early years that you had that one you had Marilyn Manson gave himself can blow himself and that he killed a pig on stage. There was another one I remember once, Remember that one. I don't remember hearing that one. I know, the one about the ribs. Yeah, that was like the kids like did you know that he moved his ribs and Duck is a penis. But just imagining some kid coming up to the play. Have you heard about Marilyn Manson stuck his own penis? He was a scary guy though for kids men in that era, Like I was like, goodness, his hand and he like he terrified us. He looks scary. Oh absolutely did. Yeah. It means his music sort of pretty dark, and you know that whole persona was a little of pudding and a little kind of oh this guy could be a friend, And didn't realized oh fuck, it's all just smoking mirrors like anything else. He just seemed like, yeah, like sons of may, like, oh oh yeah, you look him now. I was like, honest, oh shit, you look like me Nana. He honestly looks like Nana. He does, Yeah, he really does. And then he also that he's real pricking Is he really? I didn't know that they are all A whole lot of women came forward and said he's a busy partner and all this kind of didn't he date Rose McGowan, He did. I She went to Red Carpet with like basically nothing on. She went on with like chain mail on. Yeah, it's just like to see through everything. I was like, I'm dad Jesus. Yeah, And it was one of the earlier ones, like Paul McCartney being dead, that was one of the early rumors that sort of started. Then you had was yours one biting the head of bat? Yeah, yeah, which I don't know still ever happened on is the jury sladder that one? Or either he bit the head off a live bat or a dead bat or a fake bat. I don't know. Yeah, I mean these urban legends sort of take on lives of their own, and then yeah, it's gets sort of harder and harder to verify. I mean, I'll wait to the well, Paul McCartney being dead is clearly not true, given that he's still kicking around touring at eighty eighty one. Is not sure. Yeah, he's like eighty something and he's coming out to tour. And Stones are in their ating. They just released a new album which I haven't heard yet, but they're released like twenty new albums. I think only Stones fans listening to the Stones to albums these days, right, That's like, it's like I've heard this one at least twenty times, but it's amazing. The cloud they still haven't that. Yeah, they released a video for their new one and what's the name Sydney Sweeney from you for it? Yeah, it is like the the engineer in it. Okay, a bad twenty years ago the Stones at the same thing, they released a video and Angelina Jolly was like the girl in It's like they're still still able to have always managed to just remain cool. I haven't it. I think Keith Riches goes a long way to do it like Jack. Yes, I think Keith Riches is call them Mit Jaker now, oh yeah, I think so. I think that's always kind of been the case as it always okay, yeah, but you're right with the white stripes, that element of are they brother and sister? Are they not added to their quirky sort of like image at the time, didn't it? Absolutely? Yeah? And it was that that that home porn with Meg White, which wasn't actually Meg White, but it looks just like me White. But I don't think she denied it for a long time because I think they were like sort of riding that wave of the pretty sad press. Yeah, the keeps in the keeps in the public eye, but it's not me. So I don't care if people are watching it, but yes I did. Like at the end though, whereas durn and and they're over the ridge. Yeah, yeah, that's very very lonely tunesque that was, wasn't it. Yeah, But yeah, you know you can do that with animation. But but he's now keeping Homer and Marge awake at night, and Homer's got the white noise machine, which worked wonders for my kids. If your kids aren't sleeping, white noise, it's just like the best I am using. Not necessarily white noise, but I will put on white stripes music, but YouTube videos of rain or just sort of like rainforest or ambient sounds. Family on the other night was like a cat purring in front of a fireplace. You just know it's just a fairy recording into a microphone. Guy having awakening and you hear a little fire cracker in the backgrounds, Like firecracker is nice, isn't it? Firecracker is nice? Yeah, And they've invariably got like these ai renditions of like it's a pieceful it or it's like it's the Hogwarts common room or something like that. It's like there's a whole bunch of nerds. It's falling asleep to that ship. It's weird how though you watch videos like that and you can always feel the warmth you can. It's bizarre how just like triggers that thing in your brain where you're sort of you're feeling it. Yeah, I mean it's weird. There are certain ones of that that I really enjoy. There's one that's not even an old timey train station. It's just like it'd been like the North Shore train station or something. But it's like it's raining and you're waiting for the train and oh no, actually no, the train's there, but it's going to be leaving in a minute. And it's like, oh, well, I'm undercover and it's nice and I'm bad to get on this train, which you know it's going to be nice and dry and it'll take me somewhere good. It's like your brain sort of fills in the blanks. You've got a little bit of room to drink any way to your girfriend's place when you're fourteen something like that. Yeah, but it's like, oh, why do I like this one? I mean, there's nothing happening in this video, but it's like sort of choosing my own adventure. Yeah, it's true. It's funny. Where we wrap presents for Christmas, Nickel always puts the fireplace on one of the TV because she so used to doing it fire so it's like she sort of tries to recapture that England vibe. You've just reminded me of something. I'd like to put this out to the to the listeners. Yeah, and to you, mister Dando, because you like it's either weird or weirdly relatable. Nothing's weird to me. It was our birth We both had birthdays not that long. I speaking of part of your presence down here, could give it you in a minute. Yet continue. Did you say you got me a tune of mel today? That's what I thought I heard. It was like, oh yum, speaking of presence. Now, this story may strike listeners. I may strike you, mister Dando, as weird or weirdly relatable. But we both had birthdays, didn't Yes, And I you know, I received some very nice gifts, but also some that arrived post birthday in the post you know I arrived at and it's like they haven't all arrived yet. I know that there's some more stuff coming and I'm going to open them all when they are really so there's this little pile of stuff that's still gathering. It's like a month ago too. Yeah, this stuff that you've bought for yourself. Some of it is and some of it is stuff that other people bore when it's like, oh, I haven't a chat catch up with you, but here it is. So I've I've got like one thing arriving I think by the end of the week, and that's when I'm gonna it's gonna there's like maybe five things. Yeah, like a couple of books and distance things like that. Doesn't matter how old you are. Still exciting, isn't it. And it's like I'm gonna have a little pile of gifts that I can just rip the wrapper. Oh do you know what they all are? Okay, some aren't even wrapped. Someone just didn't like bags from whether from the Bliss where they came from. I was like, I'm not going to look at it though, No, I'm not going to read the cover. So yeah, there's stuff still in the Amazon box. And was like not seeing it's like weird, It's not I did that as well. Yeah, look, just a little stockpile of gifts because because Nickela got some some stuff for me and I kind of like knew what it was. I was just sitting in here. You just open it ever you want. I'm like, I'm gonna be toss my birthday, you know, a little collection of stuff. Yeah, it doesn't matter how old you wake is. You're never too old to be excited for a birthday gift. But the other thing is there's something else that I hold it off Amazon, but I ordered off you know how when you're you go through Amazon Australia. Yeah, it's like, oh we've got that in stock at Amazon on Australia, or oh what's going to have to come from the US? I want a book of Amazon Astraa. And it took two days and it was here at my doorset. I was like, that is crazy. That happened to me as well. And they live on a Sunday on a Saturday night. For me, it was like five on a Saturday and this guy's like rocks up in like a uber card. It was like, here, I've got your Amazon thing. I'm like, really okay, cool? Yeah, post is too Amazon Prime. I'm like, this is madness. You say they're gonna you say they were going to see that they were going to put ads on Amazon Prime Videos. I did not see that. No, m not good, not good, no, if you're paying for it exactly. But then yeah, Fox started do the same. Yeah, and that's pay TV. Yeah what Fox. There was Galaxy and they were like no ads. And when we first got it as Galaxy, there was literally no ads. It was a show to show to show to show to show. Yeah, I'll be watching Bloody Grand Designs over at Loose and it's like a lot of ads on this on this pay TV what exactly what we're paying for? And now they are apparently going to do it on Prime Video. Now whether the ads are going to be like at the start of the movie or the start of the TV show And that's it. I know that Apple TV have the ads, don't they? I think they Yeah, But it's not like a It's like a thing where it's like you pay it the basic come out, you get the ads, pay more, you don't get the ad. That's what Prime's going to do as well. And that's that's how they're all going to Eventually, Netfix will be the same. They're all be the same because they were like we're gonna bump it up by two dollars, but you know you can keep it where you want. Being going to get ads though. We can't keep giving you this stuff for nothing. It's like giving given to me for nothing. We're paying for it already. You're Amazon. It worked like a trillion dollars. Don't you own the planet? Speaking of that, there's actually really funny episode in the New Futu Rama season about Amazon called Mamazon, which is okay, okay, we shall check that out at some story. Yes, yes, what do we get to talk? Get a story? Yeah, but no occasionally get something. Oh, you've got to order from Amazon UK and that's how it will come even though you go through the Australian side. It still free posters. You just gotta wait. Yeah, yeah, because I order this thing prior to my birthday, gave it lose a dress so it would go to her and then she could give it to me. And it's through Amazon Japan and they're saying not yet shipped, not yet, no no, and I and I actually contacted him. I said, you know what this is about three weeks ago and they're saying, we will email you when it's ready to be shipped. And I haven't got an email. Oh, we're really sorry about that. It's in the system, I guess, And let's just canceled that and then just ordered again from somewhere else. I would, but yeah, it's kind of cost extra ten bucks or something. I'm not paying ten dollars. Well, I know, I mean, I know, I sound cheap. Part of it's like the principle of the thing. It's like, I'm ordered from you guys, do your job. I'd be like, you're getting any of my money now. Well except yeah, I mean, after I had this very nice AO conversation with this bot, Oh god, you hate that. I hope I could help you today. They did send me an email saying we're sorry this has taking so long. He's ten bucks, he's ten bucks credit. Now did you use that? Really? I should have used that for that. But then I was like, that's what you bought the new apple pie with. No I did buy something else because it was sort of marked down. Like that's a bit of a disc ant. Oh, it's a bit of a wind for a guy here. And if I can keep patient and still get this other thing, then I don't know, it'll a bit of wind. But I'm TERRIBI the same mindset. When I go get a bit of extra money, I'm like, my first thing isn't to save, it's well, I can buy something that I don't need. Now, Oh yeah, what's on special? It's really terrible. There's a clothing joint that I free country. I am saying I am incredibly obvious a lot this episode, but yes, I am nothing if not predictable. But they've got this sale at the moment. Then they're having, like, by the way, this weekend, another twenty percent off. I'm like, I don't. I don't need to. It's like the norm. Now. I feel like there's so many shops are constantly on twenty percent half now. Yeah, well this took it down to forty percent. Oh, twenty percent on top of the sale. Yes, that's exciting for you. And I was like, I honestly go, I don't need this. But at the same time, this top cheap and limited, this top for twenty bucks, I'd be foolish not too. That's right, Tom Again, it's just that old looney two things where I'm just that lollipops be a sucker, not too. I've got the sucker written across my face anyway, So please keep the patronage up so I can buy more shit. You're that guy that's like seeing your pigeons dad. I know you can read my thoughts. Boy anyway, Sorry, let's get by the way. He's a part of your present, so I haven't you have to like glue it together. Basically, don't want to go together into You've got it right, But basically it's like a pre Christmas present as well. Oh my gosh. Now I know you're not a Christmas ee kind of guy, but you're a die hard guy, right, so it is a mini die hard advent. So like countdown and Hans falls down. Oh my god, it's magnetized. Oh take a picture of that and we'll put it up on them. So you need to just glue altogether. Basically it all comes apart like that. But you can do that yourself. And little Hans falls down until he gets to and once he gets at the end, he falls off obviously. Hello, it's the it's the plaza, I can tell me plaza. Oh my gosh, that's really nice. Thanks man, fantastic. When I said, well this, I'll take a picture and put it on line for the patrons. Ever everyone else actually, because I understand. I know that you know, like to have Christmas decorations, but I thought it's Christmas, but it's not Christmas. Eve. That's a very nice Christmas decoration. Thank you, no problem? All right? Anyway, what were we up to on the episode White Noise, White Noise, Yeah, which led to us to talking about Christmas and yeah, yeah, yeah, not white Christmas, White Noise. Yeah, that's good. But this is the first time they've actually acknowledged that Marge's dad is dead. Oh yeah, because he's been missing out of the equation for so long, and her mum's remarried and things like that, and she lives alone. She re married mister Burns. But this is the first time you've said that he's dead. Why couldn't he give up this like he gives up anything else. I don't dead, White Noise, Machina got you when your father died. Transport yourself to the doors of Nova Scotia. We're gone, and Helen, they're crawnicking, Jack's dragging. It's annoys more. He wants to throw in some Russio and traffic and a duck is fire tight? Fight, ain't yours? What? Let me know when and if you want ducks burning him and him yelling is more annoying than Bad's drumming. Yeah, and as someone who really values their sleep, I just felt this so bad. I was like, we didn't need the line though, I've let me know when and if you want to have sex, honey, So those lines I'm like, not necessary. No, nah, it just makes time. We come across like a real creep, not a bad husband or like a we've all been there kind of husband. It's not taking cheek him. It's just really like awkward. It's so great. No, it's it's silly. Yeah, but Bart is now, you know, I'd like that. He's could be sleeping sometimes he's a sleep lad and drugs. This is Jesse. He takes him to the jazz club and then home. We have Home of sending mixed messages to Bart again, which was just I don't know that Home were shipping this. He really was. He just wasn't funny at all. Added nothing to the story then, not not much at all. A jazzy good Times, which apparently is a play on the visual of the logo, is a play on a real jazz club is the House of Blues logo I thought it looked very house of bluesy. That's what was meant to be. Yeah, the the jazz blues logo, jazzy good times logo. It's got from jumping, disappointing and clothes for even Tori. That was the three different what were there three different vacancy no vacancy kind of things. Yeah, joint is yes. Yeah. So then school kids playing a song, they're playing take five but Brebeck Quartett, Quintett, my man Dave Brubeck, very very white dude, but very good jazz musician. And also if you're a bit of an architecture above, that's all two of you out there. Look up Dave Brubeck's house. It's so fucking cool. Yeah, you're always putting up different houses on Facebook scene. I'm gonna live you one day. I'm going to buy this house for Luke. Actually she's getting bait for me with Lou's mane. But Dave Brubeck's house is really a pretty happening pad. Yeah, and take five was a really good song. I didn't get a kick out of them the way to hear because you want to get to a theme firstaurant, shit, do you want to scap them inut. No, not at all, thank god. And I'm sure we talked about it the other day in the Cable Guy. Yes, yeah, with Jingarofla was the waitress at Medieval Times. It's like what's his name, Matthew Brodick saying don't you have forks? There were no forks in media times, so there are no folks at medieval Times. But we're drinking PEPSI dude, come on, just shut up. But Bart gets paid with an unblest Lisa's unblted to play with her band, and so he's now a professional musician because he didn't get paid much. He's other people. Yeah, Lisa then says, but it's the second best player up here, And I'm like, okay, it's gonna be one of those episodes where Lisa thinks she's better than everybody. It's always the worst side of Lisa when you like, it's always like you you're glad that she gets left aside because she was like an arrogant bit. But it's also feels like the writer's kind of just taking digs at her. Yeah. Yeah, we've heard the we've heard your complaints about Lisa, and believers we feel them too, say we're going to take it down to pick. But it's always like they think that we're stupid, because it's pretty obvious what she meant when she said, you're the second best player up here. But then like, just in case you weren't aware, I'm the best play and I'm like, we got it. Yeah, you didn't have to tell me. And they see she sees the jazz muso's chatting over at the table over there. What they're skinny, It was skinny, and Marcus Marble mumbles, mumbles, La marquess I was mumbles. I thought Marbles anyway mumbles probably whatever. But yeah, they're discussing on the table over and the thing she thinks they're talking about her. She's good whatever, And then they go to eat some jazzy bread which she's just bread from the floor and defonzo skinny Palmer Marcus, I've got marbles, could be mumbles La marquees. They ask in a very roundabout way for Bart to play with them again. Yes, with the gag that just goes on a bit too long, and I don't know, maybe the rise of the stage is sort of like the gag as we know that you yeah, yeah, and we're still going to play it at anyway. I don't know, but Lisa's very annoyed by this. Then Marge and Homer just randomly arrive I guess to see Bart and Lisa playing, but Bart says that she wants him to join. Bart says that they want him to join them on the tour. Lisa can't handle it at all. She can't take this, so she says, how would he How do you feel if I started eskapateboarding really well? And she crashes into some spicy barbecue sauce. Lisa, You've got to be more careful. I need you to teach me all about the world of jazz. It's yazz jazz. You don't even know the name of the thing you are scaling from me, but youse, those steady on those skins. We're gonna call you TikTok. I always wanted a jazz nickname. Fine, we'll call you a downbeat because you're bringing us down. Oh, that is the most unfair down Please, we're shooting the breeze with TikTok. Oh man, I am so juzzed, but it is very juzzed by this. And now he's officially part of the Skinny Palmer Trio featuring TikTok Simpson's The Post on the Wall and Old Gil tries to sneak his way in here mucin the office management, but it's not gonna happen. He walks past a few people, including George Meyer, as we mentioned earlier, the gentleman in the heat and glasses. Yeah, you may have seen him from The Itching, Scratching and Pucci Show. He's one of the writers who are getting yelled at buy Roger and my junior. Homer says to Bar, you know I now like you more because I just like you as well, and Bart uses just I can't stand obvious, just like Dick Homer. It's bad when Homer doesn't. It's bad when any sort of just I can't stand jokes like that, where it's just it's not even a joke, it's just like I'm saying something really obvious. It's like it's a fucking point. Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't mean to get so angry. This was a very very nothing episode, very just well spit will spinning. So we know kids watch the Simpsons, but you know not all kids. No. No, It's like I had to explain to my assist the other day that the Female Deer, where Homer runs into a statue of a deer. It was like, do a dear a female deer? And she's like, I'm like, because a female deer is a dope. And she's like, ah, I get it, Like remember when those days happen? What's this just dirty? He's never seen the sound of music. But it's like, you know those jokes that show her a kid's head, It's like, where are these now? Yeah? I mean that the older members of the audience would have a bit of fun saying, oh, well, that's actually about this, and you know your kids would either go I don't care or oh I've learned something. Yeah, And that's the thing Simpson has taught so many kids, like pop culture references in particular, Oh god, yeah yeah. I was like I put up on our Twitter and our Facebook this week about The Shinning. I'm like, every nineties kid calls this movie the Shinning. You just can't call it the Shining. It's the Shinning, you know, and it's just it's. Our first introduction to a lot of horror movies was The tree House of Horror episodes, but because it did such a good job of picking things that were like forever icons, you know what I mean. Now it just feels like it's very stuff becomes dated very quickly. Yeah, they didn't really sort of tackle too much flash in the pan kind of stuff. No, No, not back in the day anyway. But yes, at least it's annoyed. The barts all over the cover of Blowing and the Sugar sheet, and she's on the front cover of Dream Denied. That was actually pretty good. Mark suggests that she gets a puppy. I'm like, it's very similar to when they had the cat episode when when the cat died and she got another cat. But then basically, at least from this episode, she's doing everything that I think any animal level would love to do, just rescue all the rescue every animal. If we had the money and the funds in the place to do so, I would totally do this. Man. Yeah, I mean I can't go out to what do they call the animal shelter out on the lan Yeah, the home shelter, the animal home. I want to call us, I want to. I was kind of call it gua, like bad every metal band. I'm like, that's not itseuse, Yeah, Gelong Animal Welfare Society. I think it's called shelter. Yeah. Yeah, I mean I got my cat, Charlie. And did I get challenge from there long time ago? Yeah, that was pretty prior to Basie. But you know I went out there and yeah, just all these dogs and cats and I'm like, I mean, it's so sad. It really. Every time I drive past that page, I'll sort of say it under my breath. I hope you'll find homes, yeah, because it's just like a concrete slab at this it really is. And the staff they're great. Yeah, they look after them all as best they can. And you know, I'm sure that all all those animals are really well taken care of, but they know why they're there too, the animals. Yeah, it's no subside from home. And yes, I would definitely like you're all coming with me? Yeah, I mean, if I didn't have kids, i'd be all about it. But for some reason, I have that fear of getting a dog. You don't know what they've been through. Yes, yeah, there might be just some wires crossed and next thing, you know, one errant tail pool and yeah oh no, yeah, yeah, but you've turned my son into chopper. Reed by biting his ears off. If I had the ability and the means to save all these animals like Lisa it does here, then I would totally do it. But they yeah, because anytime you go out to an animal shell, you're going to see Oh my god, you've been there forever because you you're a bit of a FuGO or you're yeah, you're not exactly the pick of the litter. Oh you're not going anywhere, are your pal? Oh I want to take you, except I'm a supervisial as everybody else. We go to the animal shelter where the pet store for poor people, and Lisa chooses the shaggy dog over the only one she choose over the up one over the yeah, who's going to be new to tomorrow? And she has the dream here about the other dogs? You know, he says, because if you aren't going to die, they're gonna put me down. So she goes to get him to the next day, and then the worker brings up old Smile. He's just basically being a salesman. What about old Henry over there? And he knows my darkest secret. So she ends up leaving with all these different animals, and is where we get the the Yeah, Doom Doom such a good song. Really is such a good movie, Quentin, I don't, I don't know. Do you think his older films are better than the newer ones. That's a tough one. I mean, I real watched pulp fiction not long ago, and you know part of being around in the nightiesn't being part of that phenomena? Do you remember what it was like? Yeah? Yeah, and it's hard to separate it from that. But I don't know, Little a Little Time, it's little linka. This is really well made and you know, the music is fantastic, and similar's a lot bigger, longer own cut. We're saying how it's hard to exp to someone who didn't grow up when all was around, when it was came out, how much of a big deal it was to have these kids swearing in hearing seeing Kenny with add his hood on and things like that. Now it's just like whatever, But like, if you live in the moment, you remember what it meant to pop culture. Yeah, absolutely, you know, beings like a like a member of Generation X or something, and like, oh, they brought Travolta back, and you know that's the big one. You realized why Travolta was actually so big in you know, Saturdaynight Fever in Grease era. Yeah, and he's recaptured that and he was so fucking cool. I mean, it was incredibly cool and or I mean even Bruce Willis his career was kind of on a bit of a bit of a low period. And moon Lighting is now getting on Hulu. By the way, do you see that? I did see that. And while I love moon Learning a lot, someone on Twitter point there is out today. It's like people are going to realize that this show was incredible and ground bragging, very very funny for its time, and also incredibly uneven. And the latest seasons are kind of like, I don't know about this mash much with Moonlighting. Maybe watched the first two two and a half seasons and then you can I got your community. But yeah, I mean, so it's going to Hulu in the stage, whether it's coming to Disney Plus here, I'm not the day it does. You will never leave the TV. Sorry, we're not recording at your house anymore. Dand we're not recording luckily you'll have AI guy a guy. At that stage, i'd be talking moon But yes, she's she's walking down the street and the visual of the the raccoon you maybe only why did you rescue your raccoon so they can capture that the Getaway which is the cover of the Chiapepper's album. Yes, but yes, she she's walking with all those and they get the dog. That the blind guy from the last the Laddy episode of The Simpsons, never the Lady, and it's the blind guy who gets caught with the marijuana at the ends, right, that's him. That's the blind guy in this. That's a little throwback there, shameful Brothers. Circus animals are out the front there, out of a job now because they got shut down, and then she keeps all the animals in the attic cab. I got in there. I'm not going to question it because I watched the Stampy episode the other day and there's a scene where Stampy is at most sting at the bus. I'm like, why I didn't question it now, I'm not going to question it now. Let's not forget, folks, this is in fact a cartoon. It is indeed, So she's just eating the rats that are in the Christmas decorations. Found me now or at dinner Homer says that he and Lenny rented a rowboat on lunch, just nothing again the car to have a nice little picture Carl painted them whatever, and they hear the animals. She yells shut up, and there's punishment. She goes to upstairs to punish herself because she swore. Then the she goes up there, and the Skinny Palma Trio up there smoking reefarm was but not at the table. I didn't I didn't realize it wasn't. But like, was no one asking him where's barked? Yes, So the whole time she people should be asking where's that? He was apparently upstairs smoking with the Skinny Palm Trio. And then a tiger bites his arm and he doesn't really seem to care all that much. I was like, the tiger, what is happening? Yeah, I mean, yes, you're saying, how this is really hurting where the tiger's lunching? Tiger? Yeah it's again, which again is one of those stupids, just like this should be hurting, my arm is hurting where the tiger is biting. It's like that kind of Yeah, it's like dumb down, even for bart. Yeah, that's like a Ralph Wigham even even like dumb down for Ralph Wigham, I reckon it is, isn't it? I mean it just the writing was pretty lazy in this episode, pretty pretty just like it was just like obvious if it wasn't it. Yeah, I'm just not a fan of that kind of that kind of humor for some reason. And the same as last week. The third act begins at the hospital with someone recovering, so it says at the front, come for the surgery, state for the complications, but unfortunately can't drum anymore. And just like Philip coins, what does everybody have against Phil Collins? Yeah, because sound like the same? What did Phil Collins do? I thought? Ever I loved Phil Collins. You're acting like studio was never recorded. Bang have you not seen the cabrit Gorilla commercial? He gave us that song. He won an oscar. That's why the SAP I don't like, and he beat them for the oscar. We're sort of biting on our bigger, longer an uncunt review here, but there's I think they say we lost to Phil Collins. That's worse than not being nominated. I was like, I don't agree. I'm sorry the man wrote and recorded in the air tonight show some respect, she definitely did. Yeah, but yes, so he can't drum anymore, Lisa. This is what Lisa points out. I never thought these two stories but intersect and I was like, we get it. You're smarter than us and Homers just like I'm now a Mexican wrestler. And he tries fighting the scum on Earth is going on worth of him saying no mass, no mass. Yeah, that's it at least from Marge. Try palming off the animals to other people, and I'm like, okay, So Frank takes the bird right and they're all happy, and then Wigham says, so they want to get rid of the animals and he says, if you guys got get rid of these, the animal Control's gonna come take them away, and I'm like, it's not what they want, yeah, but then he says and they're going to die, So I guess that's sort of like that what Leasa doesn't. Watches want them more killed, but he wants the pretty good home. Yeah. Yeah. But then he takes the Ostrich because his car won't start and rides the Ostrich away, which pays off in the background in a few scenes you see the background game. No, okay, so we'll see it in a moment. I guess that's it. These animals are other than a die no to buck in help Alter. Do you have an idea? No? Sorry, If it sounded like I did, then we have Bart trying to convince Skinny Palmer that he can drum. And then someone's right arm is drumming. Yeah, I know who's right arm this is, and then just holds up a goodbye Liney Tunes Again, I'm like, what the fuck is this? Yeah, I mean you buy it in Looney Tunes because and when tun sort of set a tone if anything goes and I'm middlely we just said a few minutes ago, okay, yeah, Stampy sitting at the bar. So anything can go animation, but there's you have to establish that this is a world where anything goes. And I know the Simpsons more often than not s that aprides itself on being a little bit ground in reality. And to do something as random as this, and if this is a reference to something, I don't know what, no explanation as to who or what. No, it was weird, wasn't it. Yeah? And for those who didn't who didn't haven't watched the episode basically, but his drumming trying to people can drum. He's got one arm, one arm in his slings, so he's drumming with one arm, but there's another arm that's coming through the curtain and is trying to sort of keep time, but it's not really working out. Now you think it's Millhouse or something. Yeah, you think it's someone, but they never reveal who it is. And he's like, I don't even know whose arm this is, and then just the arm holds it besides saying goodbye and disappears. Now, if this is a reference to some other cartoon or some other thing in pop culture, if you know it, please let us know, because you know, we're trying to doing the work here. You do some we're heavy lifting for a change. But yeah, it just I don't know, didn't really feel like a joke or an absurd bit that landed. Wasn't funny. No, No, it's like, I bet you didn't see that coming. That's right. They suggest the anthroscopic surgery microsurgery, and Bar says, yeah, the doctor said surgery would help it, but it's going to cost seventy eight thousand dollars, so that's just a benefit concert, but they're not equipped to do so, but is then saying too. But then the next scene is going ahead. I'm like, didn you just explain it? They're not equipped to be able to do whatever. So bast now in the kitchen and he's bragging about how the benefits is going to be fantastic. Now, in the background of this scene you see Wigan riding the Ostrich bringing it, dragging another Ostrich on chains with snake attached to it. So that's like, there's no cop So that's sort of well, that's a good visual, yes, yeah, which isn't acknowledge it's just sort of there, which I thought. I'm glad they didn't acknowledge it. I'm like, you ever see it or something? Sometimes you just gotta have little background gears, like yeah, little Easter eggs. But there was a bit in this where is Marge crying and home and Bart's like, why are you crying thinking about your marriage? And like, oh man, I got yeah, why are you sad you think about your marriage? And these aren't the gags that but Lisa should be saying no, I mean, the kids should not be acknowledging how like I get that we had in the past that you know, they clearly weren't happy or hope it wasn't the best husband or father. But to be so content with it, Yeah, I mean Barton Lisa should be sort of an ignorant bliss about it. Yeah, but no, I think has it been twice in two episodes they've done it? Or was it late in season seventeen where it's like, well, last week was the mook the ship on marginhen she was like, I wish I got wish I was dead because she doesn't get fed. But that's not that one, no, No, But there was one where they was sitting at like they were at the lunch table at school, but there was nothing happening at school, and they were like, but always fight. We can hear them now. That was the finale when they're doing the cut, they're doing the tether ball. Yeah, they do what's the ball? We hit the ball around the thing? But yeah, there's tellable yeah yeah. And because they were talking about how Margin Humor will do marriage canceling. How can they be doing canceling? They hate each other? And then they heard Homer yelling from a distances but I and I say a goat can eat our lawn or something. Yeah. Yeah, it's like this doesn't sit well with me. No, but just particuliarly, why are you said you're thinking about your marriage? I'm like, oh, man, yeah, I'm sorry, that's real kind of I'm not. We don't want to. We don't want to watch this show to feel bad. No, And I'm not dissing like this show or this particular actor when I say this, But it's like that's something like Jonathan Taylor Thomas would say on Home Improvement. I mean, that's not not even necessarily him, but it's like that's what the sassy kids say on the dumb sitcoms. The kid who's like wise beyond the years all Raymond would say to his dad or something. Yeah, but it's more like what if I'm from the show that go, hey dad, the fact kid. I think you meant the fact kid from Modern Family? Oh yeah, okays the same Yeah. Yeah. One of those kids who was like, I drink coffee and I had talked to it and I was like, I'm an adult, and guess what, I hate you. You're basically List Simpson. That's that's what she is now she's just like a little adult, isn't she Yeah, yeah, but for to say that just didn't work anyway. Marge is concerned for the animals because you know, Liza's going to be upset if they end up getting killed. No one else cares about these animals, apparently, but but you know, he's feeling empathy. She explains what empathy means, and you know, I'm going to learn a new word today, and she explains what it means, and then she she explained that she's using the animals to replace the pain of being upstaged, and I'm like, that's not Bart's fault. No, Bart was good at drums, So now he's supposed to feel bad because Lisa didn't get picked. That's not Bart's fault. Really, why why is this? Why is the plot point being that Bart is trying to make good for Lisa because he feels bad. Why does Bart feel bad? He didn't do anything wrong. She invited to the jazz club, he played well, and then they liked him. That's actually a really good point. Why are we supposed to feel sorry for Lisa because Bart was better at something that She's like, that's not his fault that he was better. That's something you've dedicated your life too. If anyone's got to learn a lesson, this episode's Lisa. Yeah, and I don't think she I don't think she does. No, she doesn't at all. I mean by a mean should little sympathy for it, because you know she's sad. But that's do something else, yeah, or keep playing jet You you don't suck out of either. Just because one band didn't pick you. A couple of dudes who are corrupting your brother by taking him to the attic doesn't smoke. We who you'd never met before anyway. So's the benefit concert eight hours, two songs, crusty Reeds, had a bunch of funny names, and then we're gonna believe me a gag. I was like, shit, well that's right. It's like Jesus Christ's episode is getting dark man like Bart's content with his parents marriage, failing, jokes about blimia. That's right, guys, that's how I that's how I maintain my weight. And I'm like, we got it. When you're said you're gonna go vomit, these are the jokes in case you didn't get it, guys. But then thanks everybody, but says, no, everyone here's got hearts better that the person here has the biggest heart is Lisa says. All the money is now going to go to a Lisa's Home for the abandoned animals. I'm like yes, Everyone's like yeah, if I won't except us, yeah, like what and then Skinny and Marcus like we should have a benefit counts it? Hey? You I still made your assistant? No she died? What? And then do do do? Do? Do? Wait? Wait? What? Why why have you put the crowdits up? There's still more story to tell here this episode. Pete at the White Stripes very much. That was that was moments throughout, But the more you delve into it, it's like and never it didn't dawn. It mean whilst I was watching, but that whole story of Bart trying to make good for Lisa makes absolutely no sense. It really. I mean, end this episode with Bart and Lisa collaborating on a tune, having them have him jamming together and have the implicit message they work better when they're together. I think that'd be great. Yes, yeah, but I mean it's funny when we occasionally, when we do a full finger Discount episode, there will be things when it'll be like, you know what, I didn't like this episode when I was watching, but having talked about it, there's a bit to enjoy. We came into this episode going, hey, Jess and the Bussa. It wasn't too bad. I think by the end of we're going, oh my god, that's how much wrong with this episode? What do we learn? Palmer? So what did you learn from the episode? Mister Davis? Did I learn from this episode? You can always count on such meld to say something fucking obvious. It's just pretty much you gotta count such about to say something Now, it's like everything he says now adds nothing to the story. No, and it's look, why does he getting every like punchline isn't even a punchline? No, And I mean, I'm just gonna say it loudly. Look, listen to the show. No, we like that kind of voices. We okay, do you like that kind of thing when it's marvelous? When it's marvelous? But yeah, I mean there are a certain voices that you like hearing Justice Christ certain things are funny. Come, yeah, Mill's voice not necessarily that, No, not at all. No, I mean I get the fly mo if Moe was saying half these lines, if Moe was the maybe the mouthpiece of these things, you'd probably go yeah, fine. But you know, Melon brings nothing to the table other than the way he says things. Yeah, because he says it such a commanding way that he's in a stage show or something that's the lines aren't funny. It's a delivery that's supposed to be funny, but it's not. Yeah, And it's a that's a jug that wears the incredibly quickly. Yeah wears in thinner than Crusty Bennerixxit Crusty. From this knee forward, your names will be all right. So it's now a round two of the Guy Ever Season eighteen New Name Championship. The leader board stands at this in on one point, Appleby, in two points Philip Jay Hawkins, and in three points we have Kyle Molding. We need to touch on Philip Jay Hawkins, who has already done a three peat, which he pointed out this week. So I apologize Philip Jay Hawkins because we mentioned last week that Luke mckayigo for the first of a three peat. Philip Jay Hawkins has already done. So so what say, Yes, we love to touch on Philip Jay Hawkins here We're do indeed all right? He enjoys it too, don't you? Philip? Get how do I explained the joke fear? Oh no, it's it's contagious. So are that? What are the one? Two three? This week? One point goes to all that jazz jazz that's not bad. That is Nora Coca No Coca. First time on the lid board this season one point two points two the hardest button to bart On, I like it. That is David Mott, another newbie to the leaderboard season eighteen, World On two points to David Mott Motzki, and three points goes to bro bro Land. What did you like about that one? Well, well, you love La La Land, but I do like La La Land a lot, which is very jazz related. Now, admittedly, I've set some rules to myself in the past when it's like, oh, you know, I really like that, except that particular movie or reference took place after the episode was done. Yeah. True, But guess what I don't. I don't play by the rules baby, as the Simpsons state anymore, don't just taking from from our favorite show, yes, and also and also the symptions, But barbro Land is in fact a three pointer that is from Justin Williams, who gets the three points. All right, So the leadboard now we have both. On one point we have Heath Applebee and Nora Cooca. On two points we have Philip J. Hawkins and David Mott. And on three points we have clever Kyle Muldoon and Justin Williams. Let's get into some trivite questions about the mailbag. Oh I said the trick questions you did. Let's get into some mailbagail demail is here. First question here is from Kadig, first time sending in questions. I reckon, do you have a favorite drummer? Favorite drummer? Look, gonna say the obvious thing of saying Ringo. Although Ringo, whilst everyone makes fun of him, he was always he timed. He's like he's playing to perfection, like he was so good at what he had to do. Absolutely, Look, I think drummers get a bit of a short, short shrift, or they get sold a bit short. Say what we mentioned stones before Charlie's passed away. Now yeah, indeed, I mean, look, I've got Charlie wats Down is one of my favorite drummers. I mean, I'm not that sort of musically literate that I could tell maybe good drumming from bad drumming, but maybe it is one of those things where like, yeah, look, I can't explain it, but I know it when I hear it, and I'm just a big fan of a lot of the Stone songs. And yeah, I mean they call Charlie the engine room of the band, and honestly, you'll you start sort of breaking shit down into components and go, wow, that's actually pretty good drumming, even though it was like, well he's keeping time, but it doesn't necessarily have to be flashy solos or anything like that. It's just like, now that's just rock solid. He's driving things. That's fantastic. So yeah, I like Charlie wats a lot. I'm a big fan of the Police, so I really dig Stewart Copeland, Travis Barker from Blink Two's very Ears. There's got a hell of a lot of tats am I right, Yeah, yeah, he had a fear of players, which is what they never came to Australia, but like they're coming, like like but twenty sold out shows like Blink one two are a band who I was never like hugely into the when they first exploded, they had like all the small all things and things like that, And when I get to high school just felt like it just became very like the term like emo kind of like punk, and I was like, it's just not for me. My friends fucking loved it, and like they've just they've got a scene, and it's like they are like the let's not metallic, your owns metal, you know what I mean? Like they own that kind of pop punk scene, don't they? I would say, so, Yeah, I mean, look I'm not I'm not the biggest fan of Black One, they too, but I recognize and that they're like that on quite respect. Yeah, they're kind of the Stones have like rock and roll. Yeah, but yeah, these guys own a very good, a very sizeable slice of real estate in that area in the niche. And someone else I like, and I believe Kadig actually mentioned this in the mail bag, was Karen Carpenter. Now this is yeah, one that you might not expect because you know, the Carpenters are very much known for their It's Yesterday once more And you know, why do birds suddenly appear and all like the Simpsons Close to You. My mum's favorite song ever? Is them singing Please mister Postman? Is it? Yeah? I mean it's very sweet that it's just makes when I'm smiling, but I'm never here. I'm just like it just makes it just makes me smile because it thinks reminds me of my mum being happy. Absolutely right, Absolutely right. But there's footage of Karen Carpenter on the drums and she is just fucking shredding it. Really. Yeah, yeah, she's a legitimate I mean she's a tiny person too. You just wouldn't expect her. Yeah. Well we mentioned better Rex here a bit earlier, and that is what got her in the end, which is very sad, very sad to note, but I mean, yeah, no, this puts your Karen on the drums, and I feel sort of guilty saying she's she's a legitimately good drummer, because I mean it shouldn't come as a surprise or anything like that. But if you know them as these purveyors of very soft rock kind of ballads and those kinds of tunes, for her to just be like kicking the shit out of a drum kit, it's like, no, I don't take it to be a Susy quat tro esque time. I mean it's not. She's not like John Bonnam or something like that. But it's like, this is not what I expected, and it's nice to be surprised in that. Other names mentioned here, Meg White, Phil Collins, Mason Phil, Yes, Phil, finally getting some respect? No respect? Mick Fleetwood. Oh yeah, yeah, that'd be enough. Let's go on to the next one. Harrison McClure. Have you ever discovered your naturally talented or good at something? Pool? Let's say we always owned a pool table at home when I was growing up, so it's like I would just play it when I was bored. So it's like I was naturally good at Like it's not called students eight ball, right, but I'm that guy who's not anywhere near professional level, but I'm always better than my mates. So like if we're going to play pool, it's always like I know I'm going to win because like I've just it's just like a muscle memory for me. Now you know I would. I'm sort of jumping ahead to another question, where do you have something you wish you were naturally good at. Paul is one of those or eight ball is one of those. I mean, and I'll i'm kind of hidden miss but there are all other occasions when I'm absolutely running the table and for a few games that around, I've got this in the bag. And then yeah, next time, I might as well just be holding a stick I found in the wood. Yeah, and you know, no good at all, kind of like even like you watched like an Astrangel's footballer. If they kick that first goal, it's almost like they find they groove and they're right, but they missed those first one or two shots. They're fun for the night, very easy to get the yips. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get my first one easy. I'm like, I'm on, Yeah, it's something I found I was actually naturally good. It's it's very easy to make these things. Going to sound like a bit of a humble break, I actually found I wasn't bad at cooking. And when I started doing it, I mean, it took me a few sort of runs to get it right, but once I started to doing a lot, it was like, I enjoy this and I enjoy the process, and I think I'm actually not bad at the process. Ramsey, fuck that guy, Jamie who And look maybe I've had people of just you know, soothing my ego or something like that. But I mean I've served up dishes to people and they've said it's pretty nice. I mean I've had good as the feeling when you've cooked up something, you've worked really hard on it, and like you can tell they genuinely like, not just saying it because they're being polite. Yeah, it's fantastic. I mean, I have friends who are much better cooks than iron, But I don't think I'm not bad. I've got friends who are like claimed to be great chefs. And you go to the house and it was like, this isn't that good. I think the fact that you'll trying and tell me how good you are kind of says something, Yeah, you just put a bunch of chicken to nut on a Yeah you just baked potato and put some like you cut up some chives, and you won't invite me over dinner. Not a bat potato bat potatoes, not a meal. I going to the house and there's like they said, a potato and I was like mhm, and and then I was filled. There would be tappings. I see you get some sour cream? Yes, all right? Next one a couple more. Either of you a fan of the White Stripes. There were the highlight of a pretty weak episode and my second favorite band it was I was huge into what I've said it. Recently, I'm rediscovering all the bands I used to like when I was like growing out like teen years because for the last like five years it has just been kids songs, we go and ship. Right now, I'm like, no, I'm gonna make the kids listen to like my songs. And it's almost like it's reminded me of who I am and the White Stripes and put the White Stripes on. I'm like, I have not listened to them for ten years, and now I know why I like them so much. You know, some bands just you connect with, and White Stripes up, we're one of those. For me. Work on the middle age. Yeah, it's not that it makes me feel young again, but I'm just like it makes it reminds me of who I am. Absolutely yeah. Yeah, Look, I can't claim to be a White Stripe superfan. I mean, in all honest thing, I'm pretty much play the hits and that's kind of this. I'm a big fan of Little Acorn. That's one of my favorites. I have to spotify that and see if I agree with you. Probably would, because you've got very, very good taste when it comes to music. I try to, alright, but so you're not a huge fan, but yeah, not that you don't like them, you just haven't really paid them attention to. Kind of like you're the same with Arctic Monkeys, right, I think so again, and even then, I don't think I could name an Arctic Monkeys song. But it's just like you just never never tried. But I mentioned this to Lou the other day. Yeah, because among the podcasts, because they didn't who the Actic Monkeys were and we played a bit like, oh oh those Yeah, but now I still don't remember yea, because Lu's got fantastic taste. Yeah, yeah, and Stilly Dan right, well that's what bound us together at the beginning. But you know, she unliked me. She kept listening to music throughout the two thousands. Row. It's kind of like no picked in the nineties. I'm scuffing at the Prodigy. I came out in January two thousand. I don't care. Oh man, all right, one more, pick one more. Rachel McClean, did you ever have a hobby or were interested at that an interest that annoyed your parents. It's besides that the costs. I can imagine my mom being annoyed that I'd liked playing football because it's like eight am and like winchell c. I'm like, oh god, this is not how I want to be spending my Saturday morning. And I wasn't like thirty five, you know, it's like Alice's last football, just like i'd been prepared Nickel, we have to be envy, like seven thirty in the morning on a Saturday, and she's like, oh no, which that's like I love the voice. Oh no, never fu I've got ten kids and they're running around. Did you ever hobby that or interest that annoyed your parents are probably like, no, hobby, you're on interest. I don't think I did. I think. I think as you get older, I mean I don't have kids, but just you know, being close to your parents age, particularly when you're in middle age and even sort of like the upper end of middle age pretty elderly, like you start to think, oh god, they sacrifice so much in terms of not necessarily money, although I'm pretty sure my folks their time is more valuable than sometimes, you know, I mean the best years of their lives like that, and that's Nickela. We're gonna lose the best year. We're gonna lose it. But it's like just people have had a lot of our time is going to be dedicated to their interests basketball and football and dancing and well yeah, but I mean that's kind of like good stuff. I mean I'm talking about I remember we're in England and I was reading about Oh this great Sunds fixed in bookshop. Just get these camera, but can I give you? And they had to sort of tag along because you were too young. Yeah, I mean there were certainly plenty occasions when we lived in London and I was like nine or ten years old, I would just take the tube to the other side of town. I go to Charing Cross Road and just check out the bookshops there and I did that. Solomm's like, I can't believe you'll let you do that. I'm like, I'm glad you did. It was super cool and I kind of feel like residual guilt that for all the occasions, and there weren't that many, but still when they had to sort of hang around some ultra nerdy bookshop. You know, they look probably looking, what the fuck is our son into Bobby? Bobby. Bobby's like, why can't you play footy? Did Bobby ever buy Yoka footy as a present hoping to kick it? Oh? Yeah, but I wanted that as well. I mean, it's not like I had no interest in sport or anything like that. I just wasn't that good at it. So you had no you are not my son moment. God bless Bobby names. You never did that. So, I mean, I don't think these were habits or hobbies that sort of annoyed my parents, But I sort of think they must have had times when I was great to the head, like Okay, well this is this is the dis it, this is the deal we had to we brought this person in the world. We're gonna have to take too much fun and never pay the price. We had fun that New Year's Even nine months later, this little nerd comes out to their credit. I mean, I don't think they ever said I can't believe we had to, you know, take it to the movies or some shit like that. I mean, I remember Dad took me like a midnight screening of some science fiction movie and wasn't The black Hole. No no, I mean we did that together when we did like the double feature of Star Trek and the Black Hole Trek Star Trek. Then the black Hole we didn't go to feature. That was great. But now there was one night where it was in this local rep cinema when we were living in Oxford outside London, and I'd heard about this movie. It was it's called Dark Star, like John Carpenters. Yeah. Yeah. There were like two movies, two midnight movies. On one was The Creature of the Black Lagram. One was a Dark Star, and I get the feeling like we'd seen Creature little back Lagoon. That wouldn't have been so bad because it was kind of fifties kind of Dad's Zero, but it's always sort dark, So that was just kind of a weird hippieish seventies movie when not a lot happens. It's actually not that good. Your dad had great sideburns, but I can't imagine him being a hippie, no, no, no. And the morning Aunt, I was like that man had the patience of a fucking saints taking me out late at night. It's like, when you were telling the story, you're trying to find your friend's house and you're driving you there and have no idea where it was. Yeah, I was like, I can't remember the name of the street, but it passed this pizza place, and I mean we're in moolap right and having to actually go to someone's I was like, can I look it up in your phone book? Place? Where's your mailways? Aren't you? Bob dass? Did he have? Did he ever follow to the door? No, don't. I don't know if he did. I can't remember if he did. My parents gone, Jenny, You're never guesses at the door. Bob Davis and his fuck with son. Yeah, he seemed very patient. That's what he certainly did. I'm pointing out all the terrible things there were many men, the things that I knowing his parents were his existence. I'm just doing it. I'm just pointing at my face right now. Oh but enough about but this turned into a big therapy. I should have bothered Loo with this anyway. Do you have something to add about this? And like that, I can't remember. Let's just wrap it up there, guy, why are you crying? I just charged not enough. You're like the case study. He's like, gets a patient. You think you get brown, You're not at rock bottom yet on the guy scale, like a fire. It's a picture of beatings. If you see that, there's that thing on Netflix and un called pain Killer. Do you know that I've seen the picture and there's the picture of like on your pain and you know they've look at these various faces, like you know, you've got the big smile for number one, it's like, is your paint a tent? You got the really sad thing the guy's scale, like on the self loading scale, are you yeah? Oh boy? Anyway, please addit all this out.
