Randall Cobb Doesn't Want His Kids To Play Football + His Future In The NFL

Bussin' With The Boys

Recorded: May 13th 2024 | In this weeks intro, the boys have to address the latest on the Beer Games. There has been a lot of news and new updates surrounding everything Beer Games related, the guys felt the need to touch on some of those whispers. Following the intro the buys are joined by NFL Wide Receiver, Randall Cobb. The boys have been trying to get Randall on the podcast for a while now and were finally able to make it happen. The guys dive right into it and start talking about Randall’s career and all of the different places he has been able to play. Randall talks about how he felt when Green Bay didn’t want to resign him, playing for Houston and how bad it was, getting traded back to Green Bay and finally last season playing for the Jets. Being that Randall and Aaron Rodgers are super close, he is able to give us the inside scoop on why Aaron decided to leave Green Bay, how Aaron plays the game at such a high level and whether or not he could have made it back last season if the Jets made the playoffs. Randall touches on at the end of the podcast how the conversation really does feel like a locker room vibe and hopefully you guys can feel that as you’re listening. Happy Tuesday and enjoy. Speaker 1: All right, We're good.

00:00:03
Speaker 2: You like.

00:00:05
Speaker 3: Busting with the boys, hanging with the fast, betting on the game. No woman's gonna tell us what you can knop be. We're here just drinking beer and making na over.

00:00:33
Speaker 4: Baby.

00:00:33
Speaker 3: I'm hanging with the feelers, busting with the boys.

00:00:41
Speaker 4: Bro.

00:00:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, bobs are up. Bibs as are up. Bibes are up, just like just like you tend they throw different things at you every day. We just keep going forward.

00:00:52
Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen. Today it is Monday, June tenth. When you're listening to this, it is probably six oh five a m. On Tuesday. Ju you an eleventh. I want you to know something before I talk to you about the beautiful Chevy Silverado. Regardless of the outside noise and what you possibly hear out there on the bird, on the different social apps, on this bus, we are united. We are happy, We have our vibes up, and we know, at the end of the day, what this bus was built on didn't come from names. It came from two boys hanging out, getting on a mic and having a small little dream behind a warehouse while we're stealing power from an RV company. One thing we never steal from the Chevy, the.

00:01:33
Speaker 5: Chevy Silverado filled with grit determination. This is a Chevy Truck podcast. The greatest trucks ever built, and our good friends that Chevrolet have been a big part of the bus and family and even our own personal lives. You guys know your boy rocks as you are to the Chevy Silverado, longtime partner, a truck with commanding and unstoppable grit, like I already said, legendary capability and dependability as well. Find out for yourself, like so many of the boys said the Chevy dot Com to check out the Chevy Truck grit and build your own silver da for do it yourself projects, to road trips, off road adventures, tailgates, whatever your thing is, it all starts with a Chevy truck. Obviously, we got to talk about the first things.

00:02:11
Speaker 4: First, we'll talk about the weekend. Yeah, talk about the weekend.

00:02:13
Speaker 5: I think we got to talk about the beer games. We talk about the beer games. We gotta let everybody know. We got to keep everybody in the know. The Beer Games. Championships of the World from us with the Boys is still happening, Yes, it is still happening. June twenty has Hesitant to say the number because I've had some mess ups in my.

00:02:28
Speaker 4: June twenty fourth and twenty fifth. The competition itself will take place June twenty fifth.

00:02:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, and look, the boys are moving forward with it. We just got to call this morning the barstool, the crew. They're removing production support and support and resources for the boys for the beer games. Uh, but we hate onward and upward we deal with we We've been dealing with bad beats all year long, all your long.

00:02:51
Speaker 4: Twenty twenty four has been us in the corner of the ring, taking some body shops. We put our gloves down a little bit with each a couple in the chin. But guess what we're doing. Yeah, we're still fucking standing. Yes, wherever it takes.

00:03:01
Speaker 5: The Boys were still doing the Beer Game Championships of the World. And I'm still stoked.

00:03:07
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:03:08
Speaker 5: I say that so hesitantly, like I'm still fired up.

00:03:11
Speaker 4: Because what we started with at the beginning of this podcast is this. It's not about money, it's not about having cameras in our face. Twenty four to seven. This brand, sometimes, this brand has been built on the boys hanging out, getting after it, and having a place where everybody can come to turn off the stress from business or work or family, kids, uncles, nieces, nephews, sickness, is all those things. You come hang out with us because we're having a good time. And no matter what, one of the core values of us with the boys is going to be have a good time. So Beer Games Championship of the World is what we thought it was going to be. In February of this year, we shot for the stars. We shot and you know what, for a moment, the stars laying in the moon something like that, for a moment we almost touched those stars. Because we had commit after commitity, had guys come in and said we're down to do this. We had truly Beer Olympics, Beer Game Shampions of the World locked up. March tenth. March tenth the most planning we've ever done in our lives. In our lives and I've been I'm married, yeah, and even for my wedding, I didn't plan this much. I kind of just was told where to go, showed up, had a couple couple of twisted teas and ripped it, ripped it and so listen, is this what we thought it was going to be? No, but you have two choices. Boys, when you're backed into a corner, you could sit there and pout, moan, cry, take a nap, lay in your bed, not going to get out, or a bunch of ice cream and put it on your tommy and eat it until your stomach hurts more than your heart. You could do that, or you could stand the fuck up understand that at the end of the day, it's about the boys doing what the boys want and having a good time and bringing smiles and laughs to the viewer who chooses to sit with us every single week with our content and constantly throw punches and waiting knowing you're gonna get that knockout shot soon. All you have to do is stay up, keep your cardio going, and keep throwing those boats.

00:05:10
Speaker 5: Pick up a beer and start chugging.

00:05:12
Speaker 4: That's all you gotta deal. Oh, you're sad because Travis Kelce dipped good. Pick up a beer and start chugging. Bert Chrysler said he's hard in and Las Vegas, Nevada at the Aria during his event that he asks to go to and now he's out good.

00:05:27
Speaker 5: Pick up a beer and start chugging. This thing is about the boys. It's about the.

00:05:32
Speaker 4: Like five more times I was gonna do.

00:05:34
Speaker 5: Them all well, I would have gotten a little like you. You started rattling off all the details of burn. I was like, oh, no, Bert's gonna just feel sad for himself once again. And because that Burton does feel bad at the day, every individual person who has backed out, they have had their reasonings for it. And I think I was telling you this earlier because it's like frustrating, right, But I think what makes me so mad about it all is I know that I've been that guy before, and it's like now that I have some we have more experience working with the athletes, the celebs of the world, and knowing how fickle we can be. I just think back at all the times that I've fucking done that to my boys or to my friends, and I hate myself for it because I know how much this is has affected us when trying to put on this awesome event that we were just trying to build on from you had the first year was just the old line and they just want to have a beer Olympics. To last year we had an amazing one and it was like, you know, more people want to do this, How do we make this bigger and better. We go out to Vegas. We try to pour in a bunch of productions, and we built it around some of the key teams that we had already we've already mentioned and unfortunately they've dropped out. We want to do a series about this. We want to do a lot of different things. Jelly Roll was on the fence last week. It was you know, we've had a lot of different things. A barstool, our production, the productions port gets there. But it's like, it doesn't matter if it gets all the way to us in your basement or the backyard, and we just have some cameras again, like we're gonna push forward. We're gonna lean into the storm, and we're fucking rowing the beer games, Championships of the world. Yeah, no matter how we get it done, are you boys ready, it doesn't matter. Hey, we might have just our iPhone cameras, boys, and we'll edit this shit together. Pick up a beer and start chugging.

00:07:14
Speaker 6: That's all you're gonna do.

00:07:15
Speaker 5: Pick up a beer and start chugging.

00:07:16
Speaker 4: So yeah, is it as good as it can be? No? Does it mean that it's over? Never?

00:07:21
Speaker 5: That's never. That's right.

00:07:22
Speaker 4: We're gonna keep fighting, boys, we're we're stoked that you guys are gonna be a part of it as much as you are. Hell, some of you fans might get a call yeah ms from fans and they want to come in. Hey, throw a hat in the ring. We'll save beer Olympics. You guys might get a fucking call yeah.

00:07:37
Speaker 5: So we might just have to call our boys that we've drunk with since high school.

00:07:40
Speaker 4: In college, Cody January called my high school boys. But you guys want to make a trun make a trip.

00:07:47
Speaker 5: They're already coming. You know what should we do? This a free This is a free once. This is an opportunity for the part of my take guys because they don't want to back out on us because they love us. There are boys to our friends. They don't want to go, but they're gonna go because they feel like they have to back the boys. I think we give them an out right now. We want you guys to go big cat pft. That whole crew is going out there. We want pardon my take to go, but we want you guys to want to go. If you don't want to go. Seriously, this is a this is I think we're being genuine about this Hey, if you guys don't want to go, please don't go, just because we want people who want to be there. That's what makes the content good and we just want to It's what we want to throw back day with the boys. And if you guys don't want to be part of that, I promise. I know you guys have other shit that goes on. We have a dozen tournament the week before. I think some people are traveling. They're trying to make it work. You're bending every which way. I promise you it is okay. You guys do not have to go.

00:08:44
Speaker 4: Nothing will be held against you nothing. We would rather have people be there that truly want to be there. Yes, then guys that I feel like they're doing us a favor. There's no harm, no foul. Listen, production was pulled all that stuff. It is what it is. What do you do with adversity strikes? Yeah, that's how we're posting this thing. If you guys want to be a part of it, we would love to have you. If you any part of you does not, and it's not one hundred percent bought into having a good time with the boys, right, feel free.

00:09:11
Speaker 5: Please just know what makes everything better? Yeah, it makes everybody's life better.

00:09:15
Speaker 4: Vibes are more important than obligations.

00:09:17
Speaker 5: Amen. So yeah, that's so, that's our I think that's a good that's a good proposal because I want the boys to be happy. I don't want any built I don't want anything built up a stressful enough business, right as frustrating of things if we've done in the past, it's like there will be zero animosity about this because you.

00:09:34
Speaker 4: Really don't in that world. We don't have a leg to stand. Yeah, it is just kind of what it is. You just we've made a couple of mistakes and now we're saying, listen, we see where this is gone in people's eyes. We're still gonna do it and have a great time. If you don't want to be a part of it, that's totally fine, right right, that is totally fine, No harm, no foul, just the core fundamentals of being for the run the ball. We're just getting back to running, pass and manageable. That's what you want. Yeah, we want to win this game twelve the I don't want to touchdown score. I just want a bunch of threes and hard hitting defense. Old man, Yes, when you me, big Cat were sitting there watching the Bears last season, and you guys talked about how defense like literally made you go through puberty as a kid. That's what Beer Olympics is gonna be.

00:10:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, and the quote, great, Gary Vee, you want to fucking win in life, fall in love with losing because most people are scared of it. We're taking these We'll swing for the fucking fances doubt and we're gonna miss.

00:10:27
Speaker 4: Yes, because there's a thousand people out there, I would say the majority would probably say not worth doing. Hey, give up, yep, it's done. No, because at the end of the day, we're here to have a good fucking time.

00:10:41
Speaker 5: We're here to have a good time.

00:10:44
Speaker 4: So I had that's not how the line goes. Listen, I feel a whole lot better talking about it. Yeah, I do too.

00:10:51
Speaker 5: It's it sucked the last uh what five hours?

00:10:57
Speaker 4: This is the last seventy two hours. I mean, it's been a bit of a blood bath on the bird and.

00:11:01
Speaker 5: Well, yeah, the bird stuff was a little more fun than Yeah. You know, as of right now, it's still on.

00:11:05
Speaker 4: Don't do that. We've already had that conversation. It's still on as of right now.

00:11:09
Speaker 5: The beer is.

00:11:12
Speaker 4: Right now as of right now, we are one hundred percent all in. Yeah, but when you understand when you do the as of right now, it doesn't feel one hundred percent. Just say the Beer Olympics is one hundred percent on. The Beer Olympics is one hundred percent on as of right now. That is that's not what you do. That'll be a fun.

00:11:33
Speaker 5: Clip for the internet.

00:11:35
Speaker 4: It'd be like all the boys are still confused about the clip thing. Let me tell you something about the clip thing. When you say that's a good clip, we're both thinking that's a good clip. I'm sure everybody but Mitch resonated with them. That'll be the clip we're gonna do right there, even don't you like, like, let.

00:11:50
Speaker 5: The let the tier ones know just like that's gonna be a fun clip down fine with you.

00:11:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, but they'll know when they see the clip that's a fun clip.

00:11:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, Well they'll know even more if anybody gets a little confused, because there's people like you don't know who to believe anymore.

00:12:03
Speaker 4: He was a joke man, like a joke peel bag.

00:12:06
Speaker 5: You can't take real serious because who knows what's serious anymore? The tier ones who follow it all the time yes, they are involved, but you love getting some context. Sometimes your context comes from listening to Bust with the Boys. That's why you should be subscribed and rating five stars.

00:12:19
Speaker 4: Uh. By the way, Sherman and I we got to have Sherm's first week. He got to make a nice splash on the scene as a busting employee with this. He got fired. Yeah you're on your way out.

00:12:33
Speaker 5: Well yeah, hey, that was a good troll by you, A good opportunity taken.

00:12:38
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:12:39
Speaker 6: I mean I've lobbed it to you a couple of times.

00:12:42
Speaker 4: I know it.

00:12:43
Speaker 5: Sometimes I see your trolls and I'm like, look, sure, I'm not gonna play into this. I'm not gonna talk about how I'm going to paralyze some father for his daughter running two miles like meeting me in the A gap all the time. Uh, but yeah, you had a great troll. I think I talked about laundry Day, which I did, by the way, and it's set up for me to look like just an insane boss figure to you by telling you to stay in your lane. And people were outraged way more than I thought. People just understood that we're always usually having a good time on the internet, but No. People had some comments like, oh, this is the Dave Portanoy fact. This is management trickling down. Everything's falling apart. Will's finally losing it. He's imploding. He's shitting on his employees who haven't even.

00:13:24
Speaker 4: Been there for a day. You might have to stay it from the comments. Do what you might have to stay it from the comments.

00:13:28
Speaker 5: You got to you gotta keep up so you know what the next move is. That's that's what led me to do the link with the soft helmet, Like, go hit this link to apply. We're letting go. We're letting him go as immediately we're looking for somebody new. Hit this link. The link goes to a soft helmet that you can purchase.

00:13:45
Speaker 4: Well.

00:13:45
Speaker 6: The best part too, I'm so new that family members were legitimately texting me and we're like, what's going on? Is anything okay?

00:13:54
Speaker 4: I had a couple guys be like, hey, did he really ask that to you? It's like, I mean, it's all a joke.

00:14:00
Speaker 6: Tell him about my text the night before.

00:14:04
Speaker 4: Let's read it. Not gonna lie. I got me that.

00:14:11
Speaker 6: Oh yeah it was when I texted you.

00:14:15
Speaker 4: And you thought was serious. I mean, there's a lot going on. Oh yeah, that had been I would have I would have legitimately had to call Will what do you do? You are right? I would have gone to his house to be truly fired. Shirm for that.

00:14:29
Speaker 5: We've been texting a little bit. Shirm.

00:14:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, remind me.

00:14:31
Speaker 6: It was when I was like, oh gosh, it was Saturday night and I was like, hey's everything okay? Like, how did the talk with Taylor go?

00:14:39
Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah?

00:14:40
Speaker 5: He said, are we actually on life support for beer games? Or is this a bit? I said? I was like, did you not listen to the voice text in the group chat yesterday?

00:14:48
Speaker 4: And he goes, I did. I completely forgot. I'm back in.

00:14:51
Speaker 5: Please invite Angel Reese.

00:14:57
Speaker 6: Which I think would be a great invite. Mix it up a little bit.

00:15:00
Speaker 4: I don't know who that is Angel Reese.

00:15:03
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, l s U girl, Kaitlyn Clark's like rival.

00:15:08
Speaker 4: Oh ship, that's what I said. I I'm moving. I'm getting people here too, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah I remember her. Yeah. When you said that name, I thought it was a porn star. Mhm right, No, that's fair. I mean that's it's not like, yeah, you're not sitting here expected to know about like the w n B a and yeah, women's basketball for sure. For sure, it is the hot new thing that the which is wild that Kaitlyn Clark's not a part of the Olympics. I didn't know that there was a It's ridiculous. R G three actually had a good tweet about that, how it's like how much it helps women's basketball in the Olympics, And the only person it hurts by going to the Olympics, by Kitlyn Clark going the Olympics is Kaitlyn Clark because he's not with their team and all that.

00:15:58
Speaker 5: Right, which is in the only person, the only thing, the only benefit you get out of it for not having it. The one person who is benefiting is Kaitlyn because everybody's being as loud as they are about it.

00:16:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that is wild. She is really taking that sport by storm.

00:16:12
Speaker 5: She really is, man. I mean, it's like I follow it just because it's I only follow it on the timeline because it's so talked about. It's not like I'm watching the games or anything. Yes, it kind of makes me want to watch the games because of how outraged people seem to be about uh you all the.

00:16:30
Speaker 4: Uh what are we looking at?

00:16:32
Speaker 5: They welcome monster yeah, you right, right, Well, but I guess the way everybody's been towards Caitlyn Clark, like the way she's getting fouled, her not getting invited the Olympics, like it's it's I mean, it is a conversation and shout out women's basketball getting that type of media hype because this is kind of.

00:16:48
Speaker 4: What you need.

00:16:50
Speaker 5: You need controversial like racial topics that get talked about, like hating on somebody, the rivalries between herself and Angel Reese and whoever the gall is that she fouled and was like, I'm not commenting on Kaitlyn Clark, like you like I again, I do not consume the sport, but it's like, as a viewer, it makes me more inclined because it's entertaining. It's like that WWE storyline writing. It's just like why is this such a big deal? And then you kind of get intrigued, like, oh, apparently this is Kaitlyn Clark girl, or the w w NBA. This is happening, right, let's see how they do. Or it's like people who want to see the w NBA are the Olympics team fail now because they didn't get kay and Clark Because I'm sure there are those people out there. They're gonna be wanting to kind of tune in. Let's see how they do without Kaitlyn Clark, and it's gonna be like that, this is your first time watching women's basketball. Why do you care so much?

00:17:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean, like drill perfect storm because it is all over my timeliney to go on. Yeah, I'm not seeking it out. It's literally just there to consume. Yeah, it's solid good stuff. Man.

00:17:46
Speaker 5: Should we do? Uh, what do we have before our shotow?

00:17:48
Speaker 4: No for Shore?

00:17:49
Speaker 5: Oh the boy d Wall he retired over the weekend. He was kind of guy, Yeah, that's my boy. He was kind of alluding to the fact that I think the Giants were anticipating him retiring and they're gonna get a decision before Mini camp, which they did. It's definitely like it's like, you know, you sit back, you see football players, You're like, yo, that's one of the best tight ends. Why are you retiring? Like, yeah, you got injured a little bit last year, but I'm sure you're feeling fresh. We only think about the athlete, like why aren't you out to performing? But he seemed like he's found a passion for music, and it seems like his his his fire is just not there to play anymore, which is like, I mean, you know how it is, once you get on the other side of wanting to go twenty four to seven be about the fucking football life. You have to be all in when you're doing it. If that's taking from you and you have something else that you're into and want to do, it's like you don't need to fucking continue to do it just because what makes a shitload more money. He's made a lot of money.

00:18:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, And from his side too, it's like what else does he have to prove? Right, Like he had all the adversity did early in his career, had to go in and out of rehabs, all that type of stuff, and then comes out the other side becomes a top three tight end in the league right right, it's paid all over the place. Truly rewrites his story from a rock bottom situation and has now founding. He said, found a passion in music, able to kind of go that just be on the other side. But as a fan viewing it, you're like, broquant stay forever.

00:19:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, why oh you're gonna go do this?

00:19:06
Speaker 4: Because the crazy thing is once you're actually out, you're like, man, I was stressed about shit that I had no business being stressed about, right, And it's just it's crazy how you were able to zoom out and all that.

00:19:16
Speaker 5: And he gave a good perspective in his video too. He's like from where I was at, like he could have died, should have died right he was found in his car, and he's like the fact that the NFL Baltimore still took a shot on me, The Raiders took a shot on me, giants have taken a shot on me. Like the fact that I've kind of came out through all that, it's given me so much. So he seems to have like a good perspective. I just hope the boy feels good about his decision. And it's like, enjoy the other side, bro, because there's a lot, there's a lot, there's a lot of green grass on the other side. Like once you fully you know, remove the identity of like wanting to be an NFL player, because we all have that forever.

00:19:51
Speaker 4: As long as he feels fulfilled what sounds like he did in that little video he made. But it's like, yeah, dude, if you're completely happy with the way things went, and you're able to be like, I'm good turning this chapter. If you can check those boxes, the next phase of life is awesome. Yeah, it's all time.

00:20:09
Speaker 5: Live show tomorrow.

00:20:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, we probably should have talked about that earlier. Actually a voice, uh, tomorrow says Nashville, Tennessee, tomorrow being Wednesday, June twelfth. Yes, so this is a it's gonna be a good time, man interactive show.

00:20:22

00:22:48
Speaker 5: They're going to coast in the maybe a sweep in the finals. I've watched a minute of it.

00:22:53
Speaker 4: They've hit a four legger on the Celtics. Is Paul Pierce still on the Celtics? Kyrie and Kyrie there we go? Come on, man, Yeah, well Kyrie's on the other team, but they're playing, yeah, the same And is uh joke Jovic joke? Jokis right? Isn't there a v in there? Djokovic? Oh?

00:23:17
Speaker 5: I thought the dude had joke, had all the ice on him. He's not playing like he's just not.

00:23:24
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:23:24
Speaker 5: Who the big white motherfucker that had the ice, the guy that had all the ice wrapped on him, And You're like, this is me after Lucas?

00:23:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, Luca. What's his last name? Luca? Don That's what I was trying to say. That's how you pronounce it. Yeah, I thought even like ice like a neck. I was like, my fault. Yeah yeah, do o n C I see right, yeah, dunk kick Luca? Yeah yeah, yeah, what's what's his what's his deal? Yeah?

00:23:53
Speaker 5: The boy walking like he ain't all right walk Hey, he's walking like your boy getting up out of a chair, like his back.

00:24:00
Speaker 2: He's the definition of a bad, bad bodyballer.

00:24:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm saying the way he's walking, you can tell he's hurt.

00:24:07
Speaker 1: He's the entire team right now.

00:24:09
Speaker 4: I mean, the boy's putting up numbies. Gotta respect that doing there. He really is. Yeah, he's going off right, It's good. He's fighting his ass off as you want. Dude, Donky is getting after him, and I don't care. You know what, dude, what's the score of the thing, right, now three oh.

00:24:30
Speaker 5: Two o two.

00:24:31
Speaker 4: Oh, he's about to get swept. There you go, there you go, remember that heavy uh for the July merch. It's out there.

00:24:41
Speaker 5: Hey, by the way, all the dad's out there watching Happy Father's Day this week, big weekend for the father's big weekend dads.

00:24:48
Speaker 4: Yeah it is right, Yeah, it's this Sunday. Oh we got that pot on Sunday.

00:24:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, as of right now, yeah, as that actually does play right now with your yeahs right now, I'm fully on board with that. Or Friday right now that afternoon.

00:25:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, if they both happen, that'd be solid. Yeah yeah, as of right now that they're still happening, yep, yeah uh yeah. Father's Day guys, have a good one. Yeah, how do you? There's kind of two ways ago about Father's Day. You basically fuck off for the entire day, I know, and you're like, listen, I'm gonna take a day all to myself. I'm gonna get better at NCA fourteen and get ready for the game to come out. Or you no, let's go to the zoo, let me take the kids. I feel like it's like too dramatic things.

00:25:34
Speaker 5: So I think this is what this is what my approach are gonna be. I thought about this a little bit right on Sunday, be ready for Father's Day, like hey, let's do the family stuff, like let's be together. But I want my treat to be when College Football twenty five comes out. I need a full day of just immersing myself and in the video game.

00:25:52
Speaker 4: Oh, you're trying to roll back. I'm trying to roll it back. Yeah, you want to roll by buying in heavy You're taking it out now, yeah, and you're gonna roll it back?

00:25:59
Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's the move I'm gonna try to.

00:26:02
Speaker 4: Go comes out in five weeks. Yeah, yeah, that's a long wait for a rollback. Because if Father's Day is a good hit to have, you keep that thing in your back pocket. Anytime you pull that thing out, it's nice. Yeah yeah yeah. So that's your plan. That's what I'm thinking about doing as of right now.

00:26:16
Speaker 5: That's my plan.

00:26:17
Speaker 4: Let's say College Football twenty five is off the table, like that doesn't even exist, it's not coming out. How would you approach this Father's Day as well? William Earle Compton the Third.

00:26:28
Speaker 5: Gotta do a coffee shop, okay alone, No, I'm good with the fam. Yeah, I'm good with the fan, but I if whether I have something set up, I'm gonna need my hours of solitude.

00:26:41
Speaker 4: You Yeah, you want a good like if I'm like, hey, I want you want a half day, Like, hey, I want right the morning, twelve oh one morning hit my favorite things. Yeah yes, Chris Angel, you're out of there. Yeah yeah yeah.

00:26:53
Speaker 5: Like it's like, hey, I'm gonna go watch Planet.

00:26:55
Speaker 4: Of the Apes. You're gonna do whatever, you just go. Yeah, I'm gonna go on Netflix and I'm gonna score for three hours. That's what I'm gonna even if I just watch every trailer. Right, you're doing bedtime? No, no, no, no, doing bad time. Let's say it's a bad night no right because it's past twelve oh one. Yeah. Yeah yeah, it's like, yeah, that's that's a great mix.

00:27:16
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's a good mix.

00:27:17
Speaker 4: I've had it both ways because I remember that one year you meet Dennis, A couple of boys we went to that shooting place. It all up. Yeah, And that was like my first or second probably my second Father's because the first one is definitely like a big deal. And then I've done it before too. It's like, no, honey, just a normal day. I want to be around the family. But I like the half and half. I like that move.

00:27:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, might have to Game of Risk exactly two pm.

00:27:42
Speaker 4: Game of Risk this Sunday.

00:27:45
Speaker 5: I like that.

00:27:45
Speaker 1: I do.

00:27:46
Speaker 4: I do. I think all the boys could pull that off. Probably.

00:27:49
Speaker 5: I think it depends on our guests potentially, because as of right now, we're doing a podcast right now.

00:27:57
Speaker 4: As of right now, it's happening. All right, I like that. I like that. Dude. Let's hit shout out a free shadow and then let's get the funk out of here.

00:29:25
Speaker 2: Quick fast to the points, taking notes my shadow every shadow. This weekend, I had a little, uh little kickback in my house this weekend. I had oh g G came by, Shure him, came by, Coop, came guy. I hit up Jack, but he he was busy. He was doing something else. And uh before yea before before everybody came over. Me and two of my other roommates we went hit a workout. I also saw g there, which was wild. I took a tuesy popped out of the bathroom in there he was. But my shoutout, no free shadow this week goes to getting just a quick little workout on the weekend, like a Saturday morning, and then just kind of doing whatever you want the rest of the day, knowing and like feeling good, like I got that workout in this morning. I'm I can I can treat myself, I can do whatever. I can have an extra couple of beers, I can eat extra shitty food, like just it's in that just a little thing in your head, like I deserve this today.

00:30:23
Speaker 4: Yeah. The excuses are like you're like, yeah, that's totally fine.

00:30:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, I worked out this morning.

00:30:26
Speaker 4: I'm fine. Fifteen minutes, I was out there.

00:30:28
Speaker 1: I was there for an hour, hit the StairMaster and tries.

00:30:33
Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. A couple of things. One, love the shout out to love the use of kickback. That's really good. And three you had a kickback and didn't text me or Will.

00:30:44
Speaker 2: I mean, I don't care, I don't think Will. I don't I don't know if Will would have.

00:30:49
Speaker 4: Responded, but yeah, I would have responded.

00:30:52
Speaker 5: I would have had fun with it, Like no, I would have been grinning, MBA, how can I respond to it?

00:30:58
Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, coopp showed up straight from the gym at his pump shirt on. That sleeper build was was out in full effect, and that some of my friends.

00:31:10
Speaker 4: Like, yo, who's oh no ship, who's big man over here?

00:31:13
Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that's cool.

00:31:14
Speaker 4: Big man photo Jack? What you got bro?

00:31:25
Speaker 8: Well this photo is fulling up. My shoutout goes to Triple A. If you have a Triple A membership, Yes, sir, you don't ever think you need Triple A membership until you desperately need one. I found out the axle on my car snapped this weekend and I about got thrown off the road in my car. It was one of the scariest moments I've had driving a vehicle. I was just going normal, about thirty five miles an hour, and then out of nowhere, it was like someone had taken the wheel and shoved it right and I was lost. So I had to get my car towed. But thank god that Triple A membership I have. This good old boy got out to my house in like forty minutes, put it up on there, got it towed out. It was just it alleviated a lot of stress because I was like, I don't know how or if my car will survive because I drive an O four or four Runner and it is on its way out. It's two hundred and eighty thousand miles. So he took good care of it. He was there in like thirty minutes, which that's kind of like the scary thing with Triple A. You never know if it's going to take like three hours. And luckily I was at my house, I was able to get my car back there. But yeah, shout out Triple A and the good people who are just cruising around waiting for someone and needs a little bit of help.

00:32:35
Speaker 4: Thank you nice bo. Sure, he said, thank you, Yeah you did.

00:32:39
Speaker 6: It's actually kind of wild. Mine's in the same ban.

00:32:42
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:32:43
Speaker 6: Toe companies shout out over your shout out. Toe companies usually the villain. Most people hate toe companies. You get towed, you're pissed off, you're paying like four hundred dollars. But when you need the toe company for your benefit, it's the best thing ever. Abandoned vehicle parked on the street in front of our house, but a little bit is in our yard, so we have the right to call in the toe company for them to come pull it. So gave him a call. They were there in like thirty minutes. It was awesome. Abandoned car gone alright, alright.

00:33:17
Speaker 4: Jeezy.

00:33:20
Speaker 9: My shoutout, no free shout is going to go to three guys that play in the poll that rocked our merch this weekend, all over ESPN, all over their platforms. They even tagtus, Josh Byurn, Jeff t Jules Hennenberg.

00:33:31
Speaker 4: Appreciate you guys.

00:33:32
Speaker 5: Season just started.

00:33:33
Speaker 4: Tune in.

00:33:35
Speaker 9: Yeah, shout out those guys.

00:33:36
Speaker 4: Shout out the lax. That's awesome. Always the best party is at Michigan. Do we go?

00:33:43
Speaker 5: Sure, shout out, no free shout out. The smell of bacon, m.

00:33:54
Speaker 4: No, Yeah, that's solid. Everyone knows.

00:33:57
Speaker 5: Everyone knows that smell when you whether you're I'm in fresh in the house and you just hit you in the mouth, you're waking up to it or you're creating it yourself.

00:34:06
Speaker 4: You wake up to you smell pancakes, pancakes and bacon. Wake up as a kid. Yeah, you knew it was gonna be a great You had to hit the poor and the sun always seems to be shining when that when the smell bacon's you're not gonna have bacon on a cloudy day. You want to, but as soon as you put the bacon on the pan Cloud's part, Yeah, yeah, it's no big deal. My shoutow no free shadow goes to passing down knowledge to your child. This weekend, my daughter was showing me things and she was like, for whatever reason, drawing s's like as funny as she could, So I put her on game. I put her on the middle schools the the three lines up, three lines down, diagonal, diagonal connect it. A couple of v's showed it to her. One time she hit it, I thought it myself. Do it again to the little video of it. It's a proud ass little moment because that is every kid ever had add on their binder or some sort of notepad at some point in their life. Yeah, and anytime you see it, you're kind of just like, oh, ship like as you get older too, because you don't see as much as you did.

00:35:09
Speaker 5: When you see people decorating around into Yeah, you know.

00:35:13
Speaker 4: You can do that. And there's one guy that comes out of nowhere does like the curved version. That's dope, but then you always come back to old faithful. So the the skid s that's what I'll call it. I'm a big fan of the Skid S and my daughter now knows it and she's drawn it fucking everywhere. Yeah, it's about.

00:35:30
Speaker 10: The the coolest Okay, I mean that's working title as of right now, the name of the that's the name of the s.

00:35:41
Speaker 4: As of right now.

00:35:42
Speaker 5: I think we're gonna be transitioning into the Rantal Cob episode, which you guys are going to fucking love.

00:35:46
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:35:47
Speaker 5: Oh, this is a good old I mean, this is we say it every week. This is a good old fashioned lock.

00:35:51
Speaker 4: It makes I did feel kind of warm and like butterflies in my stomach as we were going, because it's been stress for morning. But then once you realize you always gonna be, I always gonna be. You get on the bus, you have a good time.

00:36:01
Speaker 5: Doesn't matter if we're back in the gravel parking lot with a generator, broke in a phone for hot Spot Wi Fi, no question, We're gonna be all right.

00:36:09
Speaker 4: Always gonna be, keep moving. We even saw Pep last week. One of our old producers.

00:36:12
Speaker 5: Did great hug pp pp.

00:36:15
Speaker 4: He was one of the two producers the first og like Number ones.

00:36:20
Speaker 5: You have the day ones, the actual day one ers films. So yeah, we're bad, We're fine, Fine, just bring it in, you bring it in.

00:36:29
Speaker 4: Hey, don't look at the scoreboard. We're talking about pride. This is why we prepared. Did I tell you that she was gonna hit the fin Yes? Now, don't be fucking surprised. How are you surprised when I already told you this was gonna happen. That's what life. This happens in life. Listen, let's get to the episode. But before we do, let's talk about sport Clips. Your hambo. Your hair may goro fast, but after going to sport Clips haircuts, you'll wish you grew even faster. That's because sport Clips is the best seats in men hair and that may or may not be because it happened to be right in front of TVs playing sports all day long. We know, watch sports while getting your haircut sure beats watching a reflection while getting a haircut, which is why sport Clips. At sport Clips every day clippers and curveballs, high tops and hail Mary's and even waves and wickets. If you're into that sort of thing. At sport Clips, you can check in with the pros and men's hair and totally check out with pure uninterrupted relaxation. So yeah, come watch an endless stream of sports on TV while getting an awesome haircut. Sport clips. It's a game changer.

00:37:29
Speaker 5: Good pick up a beer and start chugging.

00:37:37
Speaker 4: Rolling boys, how are the kids?

00:37:44
Speaker 5: How many you have?

00:37:45
Speaker 4: Four?

00:37:45
Speaker 1: Three?

00:37:46
Speaker 5: All boys?

00:37:47
Speaker 1: Just had our third all boys. Congratulations to you. I appreciate that.

00:37:52
Speaker 4: Two girls, damn man. That is we literally had a toenty minute conversation this morning. It was like six am and he walked in. I just give him a bake hut as a brother.

00:38:06
Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.

00:38:07
Speaker 4: I'm hurting for you. And the thing that sucks too is he's so disappointed about what I have. I have only two girls. Yeah, and it is great.

00:38:15
Speaker 1: Hey, but that take care of you the rest of your life though, you think so, my boy, Come on, man, they're gone immediately everything.

00:38:23
Speaker 4: So I think my three year old's gonna do the same thing as a boy would. She's gonna dip at like sixteen seventeen. Yeah, she's so independent yellow Yeah, because boys, they people do say that, like they'll take care of you and all that. The girls take care of you and the boys don't. But I don't know, man, I know my oldest will. I think my oldest will never leave my house. She's gonna live in my basement. That's how like, that's how she goes. Best friends, Yeah, maybe best friends forever heard of my wife. But my little three year old dude, she doesn't anything she can do on her own. She's doing on her own. Yah, dresses herself every day. Will not let me dress her that type of thing. How many you said? Do you know how many boys?

00:39:00
Speaker 1: All boys? Three boys? And oh so the secret I gotta I gotta go in for you James Jones, right, He always told me he got two boys. He was like, to to the left, to to the right, down the middle and leave the drizzle. That's how you get boys.

00:39:17
Speaker 4: I mean to the left, to the right, to down the middle and leave the drizzle.

00:39:21
Speaker 1: Sitting there for a little bit, the only thing.

00:39:23
Speaker 4: I understood there was down the middle of the drizzle. Part. What do we do with going to the left and right? Yeah, And I don't know if I got six pumps in there, I can't even know you could take direct directions in there. But I thought it was like a straight ahead type of deal. Is that how it works, bro? I would it's the boys I mean we were we were intentional about trying to get boys, like all the mess and everything you can you got on Google search. Yeah, I was honestly surprised, very surprised to see the pink. For just whatever reason, I.

00:39:54
Speaker 5: I felt like I was separated enough. Little did I know I care as much as I do now, but I was. I felt separated enough to him like if I get another one a rue, like, I mean, I'm winning. I don't feel near as like gung ho about needing a boy the way I felt like I needed a boy the first one we had because I was disappointed with the rue being a girl. And this one came out, bro. And when I saw the pink.

00:40:17
Speaker 1: Oh you saw it on your face. I saw the picture.

00:40:20
Speaker 5: I truly I couldn't believe it. That in that moment is when I was telling Taylor, I was like, it's not that I was disappointed that it I mean, I was disappointed that it was pink, But it's not that I'm upset that I have two girls. It's just that in that moment, I realized how badly I did want a boy, because there's a part of me that didn't necessarily want three, like I we'll have two. It'll be all good, two girls.

00:40:42
Speaker 4: Whatever.

00:40:43
Speaker 5: I would love to have a boy, would prefer a boy, but it's whatever. But when that moment happened, I think everything just like kicked my heart set of racing before I saw and I was like, we're gonna have to get We're gonna have to get after it immediately because we have.

00:40:56
Speaker 4: To irish twins.

00:40:59
Speaker 5: I need to have a boy.

00:41:00
Speaker 4: I need to have them back.

00:41:02
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I wanted I wanted a girl, this last one. I wanted a girl. I thought we were having a girl.

00:41:06
Speaker 4: That's a selfish statement.

00:41:07
Speaker 1: It's a selfish statement.

00:41:10
Speaker 4: The first kid, would you want a boy or girl? Boy? And the second one you didn't care because you already had.

00:41:15
Speaker 1: A boy exactly.

00:41:16
Speaker 4: So this is like washing a rich kid, going it's all good, you'll be able to pay rents, all good, man, don't play with house money. Yeah, you know you're playing with house money.

00:41:24
Speaker 5: I'll say I'll say this too about like with guys and wanting boys in the sports world and everything else, Like every guy wants their son that hopefully is kind of like maybe a clone of themselves so that they could be better. But even with one boy, I feel like, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like all guys have this. They even want a second one because it helps the the percentages of Like, Okay, maybe I have the first one and I name him the fourth, but maybe he's not. Maybe he's not like what I was envisioning in my head. But that second boy, you got another shot, Like, oh, that's gonna be the athlete. That's this, that's that.

00:41:55
Speaker 4: You have two shots versus exactly.

00:41:58
Speaker 1: My oldest he was, I think maybe two, and we were back in Green Bay. He was in the house. I'm a practice. He trips over the carpet, bust his head on a wood table, cuts his head open. We gotta go get stitches. Everything's all right. We get him taken care of. We're riding home. I tell my wife, man, we got a we got a bad athlete. I was a little worried. I mean, he he did all right, He did all right. I went back and watched, you know, wash the camera, watch the tape, see what happened. Tripped over his own foot, busted his head open, led the stitches. He got his ward wounds though, and he's actually a pretty good athlete now. He's playing with seven year olds as a five year old in soccer, so you know he's I was a little worried at that moment. I was like, Okay, I got a little I got a little man child in my seconds. If you look at him and he's built stout like he's he's.

00:43:01
Speaker 4: A sturdy kid.

00:43:02
Speaker 1: He's a sturdy kid.

00:43:03
Speaker 4: Yeah, if aus comes, he's gonna be al.

00:43:04
Speaker 1: Right, exactly, he's He's definitely gonna be taller than me. He's probably gonna be a little stronger than me. He has the back muscles already as a four year old. So I'm not too worried about him. But you know, I definitely know I got an athlete in the first one.

00:43:16
Speaker 4: Now, as a father of a son, is the greatest badge of honor at this age. The you know he's five, he played with seven year olds? Is that one of the greatest That is.

00:43:26
Speaker 1: Especially because I think in this day and the age, everybody, especially in Nashville, for some reason, everyone wants to hold their kids back so they can be older as seniors in high school. But like when I was a kid, I started school with four Like I turned five, like a few days into the first in kindergarten and then I graduated at seventeen. So I've always been the youngest. I've always played up and I've always felt like it made me better because I'm playing with I got to hold my own I'm playing with older kids all the time. So I wanted that for my boys as well.

00:43:56
Speaker 4: Brett Kurrent said the same thing. He was talking about boys. Like girls, you want to hold back because you want them to be like the oldest, the most mature in their class. But with boys, as soon as you can possibly get him in, get him in, like the four year old Andy. I graduated at seventeen to two, and I always thought like, hey, that's an edge. I'm just a little bit younger than everybody else.

00:44:14
Speaker 1: But you know, and you know what happened.

00:44:16
Speaker 5: I want a boy.

00:44:17
Speaker 4: I don't know I have that. I just want a boy.

00:44:18
Speaker 1: You get drafted a little earlier, yes, a little bit younger to get that next contract.

00:44:23
Speaker 4: Yeah the long Yeah, yeah, you're talking about that. You have a five year old kid, that's crazy about your kid goes to Kentucky. Yeah, he's a red shirt junior. Let's say he's a true junior, because he's going to be a stud has the opportunity to go to the league. He'll be maybe a first round pick. You really not sure, could go top thirty two, could not be telling them to leave?

00:44:47
Speaker 1: Yeah? Probably so business.

00:44:49
Speaker 4: Yeah that's good. Yeah, you can always go back and get your degree.

00:44:51
Speaker 1: Always. That's what I did. I went back, So I graduated in twenty fifteen. So I went back five years after I was done and got my degree. I was taking online classes every off season and finally got my diploma. What was that twenty fifteen? Yeah?

00:45:09
Speaker 4: How many times if you used it?

00:45:11
Speaker 3: Uh?

00:45:11
Speaker 1: Not yet. Yeah, but I'm currently unemployed, so maybe to start.

00:45:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, if your kids are good enough.

00:45:20
Speaker 5: To get recruited at that kind of level, is there some bias and pressure to go to Kentucky?

00:45:26
Speaker 4: Uh?

00:45:26
Speaker 1: For sure, you know, definitely, I would love for that for them to follow my footsteps. But I also don't want my kids to play football either, like I'm trying to. I'm trying to push them to soccer or tennis or golf or I took all the hits. I took all that possible CTE. So y'all can go do something else. So, you know, if they want to make that decision to decide to play uh later on in life then you know, I probably let them around high school, but I'm not gonna let them play like they can play flag and today.

00:45:57
Speaker 4: Really.

00:45:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what my personal pick.

00:46:00
Speaker 5: With I love that opinion. Yeah, I don't necessarily I think if I had a boy I would want to play in not not want him, but I wouldn't. I'm not thinking about it in that capacity. I'm just thinking, like, you know, you want to play tackle ball, Like, let's let's get out of the yard.

00:46:12
Speaker 4: I'll teach you a couple of how many tackle ball? How many kids like eight year olds are playing tackle football right now?

00:46:17
Speaker 7: Though?

00:46:17
Speaker 4: Does that even happen anymore? My was my our league. It was like fourth grade. It was the earliest.

00:46:21
Speaker 1: The one we started in the second grade, second grade tackle football and second grade.

00:46:27
Speaker 4: But you remember being in a recess playing that one game we can't say the name of anymore, throw the ball up in the air, whoever, that guy's gotta go oh queer. Hey.

00:46:38
Speaker 5: The drills too that you do back in the day, like Duck duck goose. Did you guys ever do dug dug goose in football?

00:46:44
Speaker 4: In tackle football? No?

00:46:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, obviously you sit around Dug duck goose. You pat the head and the kid gets up and you just run and fucking run into each other.

00:46:52
Speaker 4: Well you're in opposite direct killer. Yeah, Jesus, we never played that. Yeah, we know Oklahoma drills.

00:47:00
Speaker 1: Who didn't play that? Who Austin Rivers?

00:47:02
Speaker 5: Yes, Oklahoma Drill's made more NBA players than any other drill out.

00:47:06
Speaker 1: There, no question. And you see nobody's backing him up right now. I haven't heard one NBA player talk about, oh I could play in the NFL. Haven't heard it.

00:47:14
Speaker 5: They have been quiet, you know. Did you see Lou Williams. He had he had a take and I actually respected his take. He kind of talked through it all. He's like, let's not act. Let's not act like now like football like all like all y'all are pussy's. Like there's some guys that catch them all and they make business decisions going down. And I got his truck out of it because he was like, He's like, there's still some like essentially GrITT and spit in the NBA, but let's not act like everybody across the board in the NFL has got this toughness mentality.

00:47:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, but the grittiest dude in the in the NBA is like one of the softser dudes of any NFL team.

00:47:45
Speaker 1: Did you hear what Charles Barkley said? He was on Club He said he played football one day and his coach told him we got to do this again tomorrow and He's like, oh, no, I'm done. I'm done for running the people for two I was straight. Yeah, he said it on Club Sha Shae. I just listened to it coming back from the beach last week, like so, I think that was probably even the past month that he said that. It was before Austin Rivers said what he said, and we talked about Charles Barkley one of the toughest NBA guys. Yeah, in the history at a game.

00:48:16
Speaker 5: Right, There is a different mentality, but same reason you're talking about y'all want my kids to do something else like the Cats who are good at who are skilled enough to go after the NBA dream. I mean there's way more.

00:48:27
Speaker 4: I mean there's nobody that's leaving the NFL that there's nobody leaving the NBA to go to the NFL, or in the NFL is just going to.

00:48:33
Speaker 5: Stay if they had the opportunity to go to the NBA.

00:48:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, there's way less money and way more physical. The injury rate it's so much higher. The NFL horrible sport if you really think about it.

00:48:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a terrible sport.

00:48:46
Speaker 4: And what I appreciate to with lou Is.

00:48:48
Speaker 5: He was also talking about the skill required like in the NFL, like catching a football, catching a punt or really catching a punt. Seems like the hardest thing to do in the NFL, but he was talking about all the different things reading off, reading defense along with the high level skills. You're hard because I do think the n b A like the skill requirement there's way way higher as the barrier of entry to get in to play basketball is like low, Like everybody can go into a gym.

00:49:13
Speaker 4: And play all that bounces and some cheese.

00:49:17
Speaker 5: But uh yeah, catching upon what do you think is the hardest skill? You've played a lot of different positions.

00:49:23
Speaker 1: The hardest left tackles, tackle.

00:49:26
Speaker 4: For sure is one of I was I just do a line out there. I'm glad you guys, bet, thank you.

00:49:33
Speaker 1: Question without a question, corner without a question. Think you're right, been out there on the island by yourself, which I mean not too many guys doing in this age of football, been out there on the island by yourself, running backwards, flipping your hips, getting out of your brakes, being able to make the contested uh PBu like.

00:49:54
Speaker 5: Keeping your body control.

00:49:55
Speaker 1: Exactly come on, like being able to like and then if you're picking the ball as well, like that's that's that's tough. That's tough. Slanting out there.

00:50:03
Speaker 4: It is the hardest thing to do. It's one of the watching a corner that has good hips and good like feet and everything. It's like watching poetry sometimes it is. It is one of the more beautiful things you can possibly watch in sports. Just the ability to track and watch somebody and move with them not knowing what they're doing, while they know exactly what they're doing. It's got to be. It has to be the hardest thing.

00:50:22
Speaker 5: I mean, Jalen Ramsey like his like he had some basketball highlights that were surfacing last week when all this stuff was going down to the duke, and he can hoop as well.

00:50:29
Speaker 4: There's no question to Higgins Adams.

00:50:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, I've heard Adams is insane.

00:50:38
Speaker 4: I don't.

00:50:38
Speaker 5: I don't like there's I don't feel like there's a whole lot out there on but everybody through the grape vine says he's like a legit ball player.

00:50:44
Speaker 4: What about Devin Funches, He just signed a deal with a European league. He did.

00:50:48
Speaker 5: Washed up wide receiver, you know, can't play in the NFL anymore. Asides, let's go sign professional basketball.

00:50:53
Speaker 4: Okay, that was a little nasty towards the Michigan guy, But yeah, I said it pretty strong. Washed up football player can't play in the league. I'm washed up. We're all well all, I mean, are you washed up?

00:51:05
Speaker 1: It depends on who you ask. You get on there, you get on X, you get on.

00:51:11
Speaker 4: Man, that's a lawless world, a lawless world.

00:51:14
Speaker 1: How did you do?

00:51:14
Speaker 4: How did you deal with that? Playing?

00:51:17
Speaker 1: I really don't. It doesn't really bother me.

00:51:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, but we've all sat there and fell victim to the search bar.

00:51:22
Speaker 1: It no question. You see everything that said. I think one thing that people think that I'm like forty seven because like my first game in the league, Like, so.

00:51:31
Speaker 4: You're like I thought I thought he was older.

00:51:33
Speaker 2: Ship.

00:51:34
Speaker 4: When I started looking up your stuff, I was like, even being the league, I was like your five and I'm like, yo, Randall cops still doing it a year older than me. But you've just been You've been making highlight plays since literally your first play as a rookie. That it just seems like you've been the league for twenty years.

00:51:50
Speaker 1: I was twenty when that play happened, So like that's crazy, you know what I mean, Like I was, I was so young coming in and like even now, like whenever I talk to like these rookies and stuff, like they were in kindergarten first grade when that game happened. So like, if you think about it from that perspective, they're going through middle school, high school, college, and I'm still here, Like, I mean, I think that speaks for itself. Washed though that. I think that is a It happens to everybody, right, Like maybe not everybody. I mean Tom Brady was still doing it at forty two.

00:52:26
Speaker 4: Well he'll be washed in.

00:52:31
Speaker 1: Everybody ages out of this league at some point. It's a matter of like when and how. I don't think anybody ever goes out on their own terms the way that they want to. But I'm kind of in that position now, Like if I want to go out on my own terms, I can, like and I'll be happy. You know, I haven't made any kind of decision but also somebody's gotta want you to write. So I'm just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying time with the family, chilling, taking vacations, living life.

00:53:02
Speaker 4: How does that dialogue work with your family? Though? We're sitting there with your wife and like, this has been a part of your life forever. You've been doing this in second grade, you said, right, right, Like if you walk away from this, you're essentially walking away from a piece of your identity. We all we all say it's like what we do, not who we are. But if you play for this long, it is part of who you are. How does that dialogue look with your family? And the calls come in or not coming in and just kind of making that transition.

00:53:25
Speaker 1: So my wife, she keeps like, she keeps asking me like are you sure? Like are you sure?

00:53:28
Speaker 7: You?

00:53:30
Speaker 4: Like?

00:53:30
Speaker 1: Which way do you want to go? Like how do you want to do this? And for me personally, I've moved my family. We've lived in ten different places in the past five years. Like between you know, I was in Green Bay. We had an off season home in La Then I went to Dallas, then we went to Houston, back to Green Bay. We packed up everything and moved to Nashville, and like now Nashville's home base, we went to Jersey. We had multiple rentals in different places. My oldest he hasn't even started kindergarten yet and he's been in five different schools. So, like, I see how much it weighs on them every time we move, and like you know, they not have like my oldest son, both of my boys not having any stability. So being able to give them stability is huge for me at this point, and that's all that I really want is to give them that opportunity. Like you know, I've lived out my dream. You know, I don't think another year of football is going to change anything in my life. Like if I play great, if I don't great, like I'm good. I'm good. Like I've been able to financially take care of my family, I've been able to emotionally live out my dream. And to be honest with you, I'm kind of ready for that next phase of life to figure out what it is, whatever it may be. Like I love being around the game. I want to stay around the game in some capacity. I don't know what that'll be or how that'll come, but the way I look at it, is. It took me twenty years to get drafted into the NFL, So in another twenty years from now, I want to be solidified in whatever I'm doing my post career. So I'm gonna go to the next phase of life with the same attitude that I did in this one, and whatever pathway I decide, I'm gonna put one hundred percent into it. I'm gonna put all my work and time into it, and I'm gonna get better at whatever it is. I know it's not gonna happen immediately, but in five years, ten years, I'll be where I know on the path that I'm trying to get to with.

00:55:25
Speaker 5: Clearly, you're not going to retire on busting with the boys. But if you had a crystal ball and there's a couple different scenarios that your flirt that you would you would like if that didn't go, if this scenario didn't happen, Say, in my brain, it was like, if this happened before the season, that'd be sick. If this happened right before the first week of the NFL sick missing training camp. If we're getting into this season, like, what are the different scenarios in your head? If you had a crystal ball that would play out well for radal Cop, I would say, I think it would be disrespectful to the game, in my opinion, for me to go somewhere right now.

00:56:09
Speaker 1: I don't think that I'm in a position like I've been training, but I haven't been like NFL training, you know what I mean. And I don't want to disrespect the game in anyway, So it would be disrespectful for me to go anywhere right now. I'm gonna take my training up a level in July and train July August. I think two months is plenty of time for me. I think we all figured that out during COVID that you know what you need to get ready for a season, and I was able to do that in two months during the COVID time. I'm gonna start training in July August, and we'll see what happens come September. You know already already me and my wife, we already booked the trip the start of training camp. So for me, I'm like, that's out the picture. That's out the picture. Like, I personally don't feel like I need training camp. I'll be ready whenever whenever that time come. But yeah, I think the perfect scenario for me would just let the season play out, and you know, maybe something happens mid season somebody needs somebody to need me, and I'll be ready. But I think there's only a few situations that I'd be interested in, and it's somewhere you know a few places that I've had some familiarity with and like I know the coaching staff, I know the offense already, and it'd be something where I can jump in and be of support in whatever way that I could be.

00:57:28
Speaker 4: What about places you're not familiar with, like contenders, would you be sitting like in Kansas City or a Buffalo the young JJ McCarthy.

00:57:39
Speaker 1: You know one thing last year before I went to the Jets, it was like, man, I'm good, this is a storybook ending. I finished me and Aaron walking off the field at Lambeau. I got to come back and finish my career where it all started. Like if this is the end for me, I'm good, I'm content with it. And then like we got into the off season and I had that itch and it was like I'm not I'm not done yet. But my one thing was I don't want to go somewhere and play with a quarterback that's not not established. I want to go into a situation that I know the guy that's throwing the ball can get it done. And you know, lucky enough the Jets was that opportunity for me. And you know it made sense. I already knew the offense with it Ben Hackett's offense. I knew the quarterback obviously playing with him for a decade. I mean, why not, right, So it was a perfect situation. And yeah, it was fun. I mean the four players we got together. Was Funa.

00:58:41
Speaker 4: Mentioned to jump from Green Bay to the Jets, Like when you're making that jump? How much did Aaron play a part when he was talking to like the Jets higher ups, did he say anything to them, I hate this guy, this is my guy. We got to get this guy.

00:58:52
Speaker 1: I have no clue what he was saying to them, but you know he called me and was like, hey, like would you be interested? And I'm like yeah, And I was like but at the same time, like I don't want to just come up there and be there to be there, like is it like something where like let me get in there and let me show what I can do? And you know that's exactly what the Jets did. They gave me an opportunity. You know, I was coming off of a surgery last year. I had a little bit of a bone spread that had shaved off, and I rehabed the entire offseason. I missed the start of training camp, you know. And you know, even when I talked to Solid at the end of the season exit interviews, I was like, you know, what was the situation? Whenever I came in. I just wanted to get an understanding of, you know, what they saw for me. And he was like, honestly, we didn't think that you were gonna make a team. Like we just brought you in here, like to help with the young guys, help with the transition and letting the young receivers know about Aaron and like how he likes things and you know what he expects. But those last three weeks of training camp, like you balled and like not only that, like he we had like a we had like a running tab of like effort plays right. And I told you I missed the first few weeks of training camp, so I wasn't out there. At the end of training camp, I was in second place in the receiver group of effort plays as a thirteen year year vet, right, And they do that based off of like burst after play, chasing a running back down the field, plays being made, finishing with the ball after you make the catch, finishing to the end zone, like those kind of things. And that's just who I that's the player that I was, that's the that's how I practice, that's how I go about my business. And he was just saying, like we were surprised, like about how much you still had in the tank, and that's why you got the nod to start the season as a starter. Like you know, so I missed most of the training camp I had the last few weeks and I ended up getting a starting spot in the slot when the season came.

01:00:58
Speaker 5: Around here, like yeah, we thought you weren't even gonna make the team.

01:01:04
Speaker 1: I love the honesty. I love the honesty, Like I'm a person. No, no, I'm for real, I'm for real. I would rather you tell me, hey, you're you're sorry and you don't have it anymore. And I'd be like, all right, cool if that was the case. But if that's not the case, then okay. There's a lot of there's a lot of politicking and things that's happening behind doors. You know what I mean? Just just shoot me straight. I can take it.

01:01:29
Speaker 5: How awesome was it when you did get traded back to Green Bay from Houston?

01:01:35
Speaker 1: Come on, oh you let me tell you.

01:01:42
Speaker 4: It wasn't the Houston Texans right now.

01:01:44
Speaker 1: No, it was not. And going back the one thing I would never say that I may regret to my career, but I will say that I wish that I would have thought a little bit more into it before I signed there with Houston. So I was in Green Bay for years. I went to Dallas for a year, and then Garrett got fired. They hire Mike McCarthy, my head coach for my first eight years of my career. Yeah, it's the perfect situation, right, Like I'm already with the Cowboys. He gets hired, he's now the head coach. Everyone is coming to me like for like hey, like hey, what a word in for me with McCarthy, Like you know what I mean, I'm like, what do you think that I got pulled?

01:02:31
Speaker 4: Like yeah, yeah, right.

01:02:33
Speaker 1: So at the at the at his whenever they announce him as the head coach, I go to the to the presentation or whatever you call the press conference. Yeah, yeah, I'm blanking obviously. I go to the press conference and we're leaving the press conference and Jerry Jones puts his arm around me, and it's like, I know you're getting homesick down here. I had to bring somebody in for you. So like it was the perfect situation for me to go back to Dallas. And like in my mind, me and my wife had already found a house in Dallas. We were like, all right, let's wait till March. Let's see what happens. As soon as we signed this kind of track back with the Cowboys, we're gonna be here, Like we'll probably live in Dallas the rest of our life because we really enjoyed it, like it was it was great, Like we had a great time done there. The guys were great, like playing with Dak and Zeke and those guys like Zach Martin. Great locker room, Like great locker room. Now my guy is coming in McCarthy. Perfect situation, and I let my agent, well it's not only my agent. They also offered me, you know, a bag that I couldn't turn down.

01:03:39
Speaker 4: So what was the situation?

01:03:41
Speaker 5: What were the two options money? Because well he got a what was it, four year nice.

01:03:45
Speaker 4: It was three.

01:03:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, So Houston gave me three for twenty seven and Dallas were offering me three for eighteen. But the guaranteed money was the kicker. Like, you know, Houston was offered me eighteen guaranteed and Dallas was off of me like twelve guaranteed. That's a big gap, you know what I mean. I was trying to tell my agent, if they can, if they can get that to fifteen, like I'll eat the three. Like in my mind, I always look at contracts like off the guaranteed money, like the ap wy, like that doesn't matter to me because I'm like, let me know what I'm gonna get.

01:04:19
Speaker 4: It's the coolest, shining new where that makes you feelod about?

01:04:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right. It's an ego kicker for people whenever they when they start signing based off of apy. But yeah, I mean I probably if they would have been able to get closer, I probably would have gone back to Dallas. But I went to Houston and it was a great situation. Like they had been to the playoffs for the past five years. They had a stable what I thought was a stable team, right, Like Deshaun Watson, a quarterback coming off a great year, and people don't realize or remember they were up twenty four er against Kansas City in that playoffs and they just blew the lead ended up losing that game. So in my mind, I'm like, this is a this is a great situation. They got d Hop, I can go and you know, be work the slot beside him. And then like my first red flag should have been when they traded d Hop. Right, they traded d Hop while we were finishing up our negotiations, and I'm like, wait a minute, that that doesn't like why would they do that, Like it just didn't make sense at the time.

01:05:24
Speaker 4: But obviously crazy fourth round pick.

01:05:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, David Johnson coming back. But yeah, so that that happens, and then I end up signing. But remember that's the COVID year. There's no off season. Bill O'Brien's calling me like, hey man, I don't I don't know if we're gonna have a season this year, like you know, I don't know when to tell you to come down here. And then I remember he called me like a few days later like hey, I'm gonna need you down here, like aysap, like this thing we getting ready to do it. I'm like okay, Like.

01:05:55
Speaker 4: What was the dates on that, Like, was that like late summer?

01:05:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, that was somewhere camp We're not going to Yeah yeah, Like that was trying to figure it out. It was a wild time.

01:06:03
Speaker 4: That was crazy. They were talking about if they canceled the season, nobody makes any.

01:06:06
Speaker 1: Money, right rights.

01:06:08
Speaker 4: Like I was like, oh my god, yeah, yeah, it was only twenty was nuts. He calls us, is got to get down here.

01:06:14
Speaker 1: Yeah. So we had already, we had got a house down there, we got everything loaded up, got to Houston, and we started the season zero to four and they fired O'Brien And in my mind, I'm like, what did Like I just I just saw this entire place blow up, Like I saw the making of it. I saw it happen, and I saw the dust settle like through that season. After that season, you know, that's when they brought in They hired Cooley as the head coach, who hadn't been a coordinator. He coached twenty seven years in the league. Great guy. He's from the Nashville area too, the Smurrner god Tennessee boy. So they hire him as the head coach. They bring in Caserio from the Patriots and the first time I met Casario, I knew he was like he's the he's the guy, like he's gonna he's gonna fix this place. His first day I remember of the off season that year, he had twenty seven transactions on day one a free agency. I was like, Oh, he's getting ready to flip the roster. I completely flip it. And so I go through that off season. Right before training camp, we are getting ready to go out for the conditioning test and they come and grab me and bring me up to the office and you're getting traded back to Green Bay, And like, I just had the biggest smile on my face because did.

01:07:51
Speaker 5: You know this was this was kind of getting in the works behind closed doors since you're so close with Aaron, I mean as publicly out there saying, you know, front office making move, not me involved.

01:08:00
Speaker 4: Like Aaronson.

01:08:01
Speaker 5: He's obviously had a lot of different headlines, but there were times where it's like, you know, they're not consulting with me on certain guys, YadA, YadA, YadA, And it seems like he had a lot of pool in bringing you back to Green Bay.

01:08:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean me and him had talked about it. We had like obviously we had always like me and that's one of my closest one of my closest friends, and you know, we had talked about it, like the hope to one day played again together, like whether it be in Green Bay or whether or somewhere else, Like we hope that we had that opportunity to play again together. And then like the trade goes down and like there it is, I'm going back home, like I got the opportunity to be back with my boys, Tay, you know, Debac all them were up in Green Bay. We end up having a great year that year, just get knocked out San France at home.

01:08:48
Speaker 4: Crazy season.

01:08:49
Speaker 5: That is why did you hate Houston so much?

01:08:52
Speaker 4: What ultimately led you?

01:08:54
Speaker 5: Stuff that was going on behind the scenes of it, basically all unfolding and burning down to the ground.

01:09:00
Speaker 4: Look about it, right, not like public as like a football player would be public about like I'm so happy to be out of there. Oh well, I think quote saying something like how franchises are.

01:09:09
Speaker 1: Ran, Yeah, I mean any business rights ran a certain way and you don't know how that business ran until you get into it, Like you were only a Tennessee your entire career, right, So all you can speak on is the Titans and how you saw things work with the Titans. Right, You've played for a few different teams. You can see all of them, all of them.

01:09:31
Speaker 5: You need to see the inner workings of like what what it takes to be a good organization, right, bad with like being part of winning teams and rushing cultures and stuff like that.

01:09:38
Speaker 1: Right. So I was in green Bay and I was in Dallas before I went to Houston. So you look at green Bay and you look at Dallas. I know Dallas hasn't like won as much in the playoffs recently, but over the course of their you know history as an organization, like they've had a lot of success and there's a reason for that, Like they have a certain way of doing things. Green Bay has a certain way of doing things. And then when you to Houston and you see the way that things are being done and like you can't do anything about it, and you're just stuck in it. You're like there's no outlet, like you know, and on top of that, its COVID, you can't go anywhere, you can't do anything. We're getting tested every single day. Like it was just I think it was just a whirlwind of like bad and it was it was just it was a shitty place like it was. It just was. It was a city like especially when you're losing too, like you start off hoing four, you end up going forward to twelve. On the season, it's like nothing is fun about losing, right.

01:10:34
Speaker 5: Nothing gets fired. It's it's y cya season. Cover your as seas.

01:10:38
Speaker 4: Everyone's like no longer playing for the for the team You're not.

01:10:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, you can see that from the coaching. You can see that. You know, you can see it from all the different angles.

01:10:48
Speaker 4: And there's like one or two guys that are trying to keep the team together and they know, you know, they have no exactly with any of the dudes, right, but there's no shot you're going to keep this team together exactly. Make that early first quarter of the season fired a coach, fire alarms going on.

01:11:01
Speaker 1: It's a long season after, yes, but you know it is what it is. And you know, I I understood the situation and I put myself in that situation, like I decided right, and that off season came around and like you know, I was obviously at that point I was conte play in retirement because I was like I don't know if I want to play, like if I got to go through this again, really, you know what I mean. But you know, but that's that's part of it. And you know, luckily I was able to get traded back to Green Bay and go back home. You know that that place is special to me. It always would be special to me. So it was that was the homecoming for me.

01:11:39
Speaker 4: You talk about how well run the Packers and the Cowboys are, which everybody who's like has a pulse in the league, understand, those are two great franchises. What did it What was Houston lacking at that time compared to the other two?

01:11:51
Speaker 1: Uh, well, I think direction. Bill O'Brien was not only the head coach, he was the He was the GM as well, right, so now you lost your head coaching your GM. You know who's running things right. And it was a crazy situation with you know, a guy to they had put in place there who kind of went from being a team chaplain to the interim GM, which is wild.

01:12:19
Speaker 4: You just take the wheel.

01:12:22
Speaker 1: Wild, just let God handle it, yeah, which is a wild situation. And and like just to see all that happening and to understand what it should look like and to be in a situation where it's going the way that is going. It's just it was a dark time.

01:12:40
Speaker 4: How difficult is it to be in that locker room and not essentially talk ship and be like, listen, boys out there. For those you boys that are just been in Houston the whole time, there's greener pastors out there. I promise it's like, hey, you're on the last year you deal, get out, do whatever you can get. Stop talking about you can pick from right now.

01:13:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, it was. It was crazy. It was a crazy time for sure.

01:13:03
Speaker 4: Dude, talk to me about you the second time. Cut you off. But Bill O'Brien now playing for Tennessee for my whole career, I'll tell you right now, was not a fan of Bill O'Brien. Yeah, how was he when you were with him in the building?

01:13:17
Speaker 1: Fair enough, we can move on, yes, sir, next question please?

01:13:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, next question?

01:13:23
Speaker 1: Please?

01:13:24
Speaker 5: Damn that bad look.

01:13:25
Speaker 1: I only only got two months with him, so it's it's hard for me to be able to really you know, I only saw what I saw. We were owing for. We saw I saw him through training camp. Yeah, he didn't think that a season is gonna happen so it is what it is, right, you know.

01:13:43
Speaker 4: And especially they always say, like you can't judge people at the end of like during a divorce, and that's what he was going through.

01:13:48
Speaker 5: That was it so rightly in the locker room and probably sharing the sentiment of a guys who've probably been there.

01:13:54
Speaker 4: Oh, bro, you think this is bad, you should have seen him in twenty eighteen, like that.

01:13:58
Speaker 5: Just be glad it was only four weeks.

01:14:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, real, he is that dude. Man, he's a dude that talks to you on the sideline as a head coach. Right, I'd be jogging buying, he'd like, fuck you Lawan, fuck you Bill? What's your name? That whole thing it was. I was not a fan.

01:14:14
Speaker 5: Uh when you were leaving Green Bay the first time? Was there bitterness? Leaving Green Bay.

01:14:19
Speaker 1: Without a doubt, without a doubt. I was there for eight years, Like I like, that was my place, Like and you don't realize it in the moment, but like, obviously you know it's a business and like I like, I've always looked at it from that. I love the business side of the game, Like that's one of the things that interests me in post career. So I understand the business, but it was like I've been here for eight years. I've given everything that I could possibly give. You know, I could have signed after my when my first deal came up, I could have went somewhere else. I took less to stay in Green Bay because I love it that much and I wanted to be a part of something special that that organization is a special place. So when my deal was up, like Dallas came calling, they offered me one for five. I told my agent, like, can you like ask green Bay, like just make an offer, like I probably would have took anything. They didn't even make an offer, Like they wouldn't even offer damn. You know, So that that hit me in a different way, like like I think it would anyone that we're.

01:15:23
Speaker 4: Thinking of everything you did to stay there the first time round, all the all the blood, sweat, tears you put in.

01:15:28
Speaker 1: The injuries I'm going through, Like I punctured my lung in a playoff game, Like I'm watching the second half of the Cardinals game from a hospital, you know what I mean, Like broken my leg and you know, came back at the end of the season and had to catch against the against the Bears to get us into the playoffs. Like I'm thinking of all these moments and everything that I've been through with everyone up there, and like of course, like why would I want to leave that? Like I know what I have here and I'm no dummy. Like anytime you got Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, you got an opportunity to win a championship, like right when you this is a league of quarterback. So like, no, I didn't want to go anywhere like that was that was home for me. But you know, it is what it is. Like things happen for a reason. And you know, luckily I didn't sign back with the Cowboys because I went to Houston and was able to get traded back. Maybe that don't happen if I go back to the Cowboys and.

01:16:18
Speaker 5: When you get traded back all that bitterness that you had, You're like, man, I didn't know how good it was.

01:16:22
Speaker 4: Hey, the first.

01:16:27
Speaker 1: Come on, so we the they're in training camp. We always have you know, it's a practice in the stadium. Family Night. We sell out. It's seventy thousand people at Family Night. I walk out. The first thing I do is go and kiss the grounds, the grounds a limbo thank you for letting me back here?

01:16:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, how long the animosity kind of last for you? Because when you obviously go back to the Packers, you're stoked. Yeah, when you're not even getting an off or you go to Dallas, Like, how long will we essentially fuck the Packers? I've given you guys.

01:16:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think both of those years that I was gone, because you know, we I played them. Like when I was in Dallas, we played the Packers. When I was in Houston, we played the Packers. So like coming into that game like I'm juice.

01:17:12
Speaker 2: You know.

01:17:12
Speaker 1: That's the way you circle on the calendar like there ain't nothing changed. It's just like high school, Like I gotta get my lick back, you know what I mean.

01:17:18
Speaker 4: So tell the people listening what it's like when you go to a new team and you play your old team like that whole entire week.

01:17:24
Speaker 1: Come on you I circle that on the calendar and the off season as soon as the schedule came out going into that week. I never I've never been one. It's like I need the ball. But that was the one week that like I was like, hey, like you're gonna have to get me the ball, Like I gotta I gotta let them. Yeah, I gotta let them know what they're missing.

01:17:43
Speaker 4: When the boys like, hell, yeah we got you.

01:17:44
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, they looked out.

01:17:47
Speaker 5: How nice was it? Uh, you talked about playing the family night and stuff. We got to go out a couple of years ago and interview Lafleur, Basachia Bach and Tonyan and uh running back quad Dylan Yes, AJ Dillon and we got to see that family and night. So so that stuff is incredible. But how fun was it playing for coach Lafleur in that staff.

01:18:08
Speaker 1: I loved it. I loved it. It was it was It was a great time. I mean, just to come back and to be a part of it. And like I knew coming back that it wasn't gonna be the same road that I had before when I was in Green Bay. You know, I was a little bit more aged. I knew that I wasn't going to be getting eighty ninety percent of the snaps like I did before. Coming into it, I didn't know what to expect because, like like I said, whenever I leave, I don't know who it was that were making the decisions that they didn't want me back. You know, it was Lafort's first year it like it was our GM goots first year, our second year. He had just drafted three receivers in twenty eighteen, which was my last season in Green Bay. So I didn't know if like I would muddy up, was muddying up the picture by them keeping me based off of him wanting to develop those three younger guys. So when I came back, it was it was kind of weird because like I didn't know who actually wanted me back. I knew one guy, right, Like I knew Aaron, you know, wanted me to play with him again at some point, So I knew like he wanted me, But like I didn't know coaching staff, Like it's a new, completely different staff than what I was with before. I didn't know like how it was being perceived, like in the locker room. So like whenever I walk in the locker room, like the first thing I'm doing is I'm trying to like prove myself to all the guys that don't know me. Right, So with my practice habits, the way that I go about meetings, being a professional that I am, like I want to show them, like hey, like I'm giving all the young guys everything that I can, like you know, as far as like route running and understanding the play concept and all these things. Like I'm doing everything that I can, but I don't know, I don't know how it's being perceived. And like as the season goes on, like I realized that I wasn't playing as much as I thought that I could, like, especially like given twenty twenty one and even twenty twenty two, like I was, I was so efficient, Like I would come down in on third down and I like led the league in third down percentage conversions, like based off of thirty percent snapcount. Right, So like I just like in my mind, I'm like I'm doing all this, but like.

01:20:26
Speaker 5: Why isn't my role developing?

01:20:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, you would think that like it would develop a little bit more, but that just wasn't the case. So like I never knew the reason why. And like every single time, like after games, I would like, you know, I make a few plays in Arizona, uh Tay had COVID and was out, Lazard had COVID and was out, and I ended up having two touchdowns and you know, Lafleur came over to me after the game. It was like, man, I'm so glad you're here. And then like he kept saying that, and by the end of the season he had said it so much but my role head and changed that. I was like, man, is he like overcompensating right now? Like it was like a like like it it was kind of a mental mind fuck like that. I just couldn't get over understand. But yeah, it was. It was kind of weird, but at the same time, like I understood a little bit, right, Like I understood like what the situation was. But yeah, I mean, we had two great years. Twenty one we should have went on the run, got knocked out at home. Twenty twenty two, we didn't do it enough early in the season and got knocked out by Detroit at the end of the season.

01:21:35
Speaker 4: So when you see your playing time not being changed but all those same complements from Lafleur, do you ever go to have dialogue with them? Do you ever go to the GM and the head coach?

01:21:45
Speaker 1: Yeah? I did.

01:21:46
Speaker 4: I did.

01:21:46
Speaker 1: I finally went like it's too late, right, what weak you thing?

01:21:50
Speaker 4: You was? No? I went.

01:21:51
Speaker 1: I went at the end of the season really because I'm not one.

01:21:54
Speaker 4: After the years over, I.

01:21:55
Speaker 1: Went an exit interview, like trying to get a better understanding after after my second year there, and he was like, yeah, we were just trying to get more speed on the field and I was like, got it, we're running the track me got it. Yeah, But it is what it is.

01:22:11
Speaker 5: But it wasn't a conversation of I'm super curious because of the things that were were said to me throughout.

01:22:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean again again, what it is. It is. It is what it is, you know.

01:22:24
Speaker 4: But like for me, if I'm in that type of situation because of the time, they play all the snaps, but if I'm feeling some type of way, instead of harboring it, I'm going we five, WE six, week seven, we eight, like Hey, what do I need to do differently? Snaps? What made you not to have that conversation until the end.

01:22:42
Speaker 1: One thing over the course of my career that any of my teammates can say about me is that I've never been one that's like I need the ball, Get me the ball, you know what I mean. That just wasn't my personality. And maybe I should have been that way, Maybe that would have things would have changed for me, and maybe something would have happened different in my career had I been like that. But where I come from my high school. We went fifty five and five four state championships. Like we were Damn we were. Yeah, you know we Like I'm always been about the team, like it's whatever's best for the team. It's best for the team. I'm never gonna put myself above the team. That's just that's just the way that I was brought up in the in the game of football. And I understand that it's not about me. So I never wanted to make something about me in the middle of the season like that was never that would have never been the way that I'm cut. So I waited until I waited until after the season to just get a better understanding. And you know, like I said, it is what it is. That's part of that's the nature of the game. Like you know, I even as Lafloor, you know, when we had that conversation, like he's a head coach, he's not thinking about one person. He's thinking about what's the best for the team. And you know he did was what he thought was best for the team. And in all those scenarios, a lot.

01:24:04
Speaker 5: Of coaches two are different just the way they handle harder conversations or awkward moments like, if you want to be confrontational, if you want to say this, I'm going to err on the side of like massaging versus you know, yeah, keep their head in it.

01:24:17
Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, you feel like that's how the floor was a little more like done. Uncomfortable with uncomfortable conversations. You kind of want to stay. Yeah, for sure, that's for sure to keep I wanted he wants to keep the people want to keep the peace.

01:24:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not He's not a combative type of personality. You know, it is what it is. Like he I think he's a great coach. And you see what he's done this past season. You know, everyone was like, was it Aaron or was it him? Like he's proven that he he had a big part in what was happening over the course of those last few years. I mean his development of j lo uh, the way that he had that team ready throughout this entire past season and you know the run they went on in the playoffs. That goes to show of how good of a coach that he is. And I got to see it up close in person. I see that the way that he looks at things, he comes from that Shadahan background and the way that he prepares and the way that he is schematically ready and ready to counter whenever someone does something on defense that is a little different, Like he's prepared and he's ready, and he had that team ready to go.

01:25:24
Speaker 5: Being a fly on the wall those last couple of years. How positive of a breakup was the Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay or do you have a different a different thought on that?

01:25:36
Speaker 1: I think it was time. I think it was time. I think it's when someone is somewhere for two decades. I think that a taste of something different and the exposure to something different is good. And I felt that when I went to Dallas, it was a different environment and I had to prove myself all over again to all my teammates the coaches when I went to Dallas. And I think the same for Aaron when he left Green Bay. Like yeah, you Aaron Rodgers, but like you forty bro, like what's up? Like we need to see it? And he showed them and like I don't know if y'all watch, I don't know if y'all are hard knocks, but like people got to see who he is on a day to day basis with his teammates, like He's very intentional about everything he does, whether it be sitting at the lunchroom table or him in the locker room or in the weight room, in the meeting room, on the practice field, pulling guys aside, giving them praise, but also kicking them in the ass when they needed it. Like that's who he is on a day to day basis. In Green Bay, I think like it was time, like they needed they felt that Jordan was ready and they were ready to put him into that situation. I mean what he was in was that year four for him of that contract.

01:26:48
Speaker 4: I think she signed a new contract too, right, Yeah, they.

01:26:51
Speaker 1: Restructured and yeah he ended up getting a one year deal or whatever. But like it was time they had they had developed him and it was his turn like that. I mean, it's it happens in a dicky.

01:27:02
Speaker 5: Part of the business.

01:27:03
Speaker 1: It's gonna hap It's gonna happen.

01:27:05
Speaker 4: But all the things you say about Aaron, how intentional he is essentially being a coach while playing as a packer. If he still got juice, why would you want to walk away from that just because you have a young talented cat wedding in the wings.

01:27:16
Speaker 5: It could have been too and obviously I'm cutting you off. I apologize, but it could be too Like even Aaron going to New York, there's almost like a new flame that kind of gets kicked in that maybe he's.

01:27:27
Speaker 4: Yeah for air where he's moving not not.

01:27:30
Speaker 7: Differently, but a little bit more intentional because there's more of a approving chip on your shoulder versus I've been in with this organization for a two decades.

01:27:37
Speaker 5: There's obviously the back and forth with business decisions and here's how we should build a team. I know the offense enough, I know we got new flavoring here, like who's gonna call what, who's gonna do this? No, you need to lean on me, versus like you know, you go to New York and it's a completely new situation.

01:27:52
Speaker 4: Scenery, new everything. Yeah, new players. Yeah, yeah, I apologize.

01:27:56
Speaker 5: What I'm sorry for for butting in there.

01:27:59
Speaker 4: Well, I'm sure I was trying to have a nice think tank about how why the Packers would walk away one of that right from a coach that's on the field with that much juice. Hall of Famers still has all the juice.

01:28:10
Speaker 1: Uh Well, I mean I think they're not looking at the short term to the three year plan. They're looking at the long term picture, right, That's what most businesses do. They're not worried about you know that they know that they're going to have probably some growing pains with a new, you know, young quarterback coming in. They felt good enough about him where they were like, Okay, it's time to make this this move, and like we got to look at the next decade two decades, and like, let's be honest, like I don't think are's gonna be playing when he's fifties. Maybe maybe I don't know he could. I mean, this is a quarterback driven lead. They might you know, you can't touch him anymore.

01:28:44
Speaker 4: But it seems that the Falcons are trying together packers back. You're thinking long term, Yeah, the Falcons. How crazy was that manch that was?

01:28:53
Speaker 1: That was insane? Like I couldn't believe it when it happened. I was like, what, Like you just gave Kirk Cousins.

01:29:00
Speaker 4: Guarantee, Yeah, guaranteed, and you just still got a quarterback. Pedix is a dog. I think that always gets washed away too, because he really is a stud, right, but you just give him a hundred and eighty million dollars. We can't wait a year.

01:29:11
Speaker 5: Yeah, especially if Kirk plays to that, like gets some player, like they's to become like a good team. You're almost in that exact same situation on do you sign another deal? And then you have this, you have Pennix who is a stud. It was like, you know, everybody understands that they're thinking long term, but even the short term for that guy, like he's gonna he wants to play, like if he develops overtime, it's like, when are you gonna make the They could be in the same sticky.

01:29:35
Speaker 1: Curse what thirty five though? Right? Curse thirty five?

01:29:40
Speaker 4: No Achilles Achilles?

01:29:42
Speaker 1: My bad, That's what I'm meant.

01:29:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean he's the Achilles. But I don't know. I just feel like I don't know what they're thinking. They It's like the Packers always seem like they had like all the pieces and they's been lucky enough to keep a quarterback in the wings for what the last forty years. It seems like with Atlanta, it's like it's not like you guys are like maybe an old NFC South winners, like champions, like always competing for Super Bowl. Like you're a middle of the pack team right now, in the NFL, Like would you want to add pieces there? What do you got the quarterback thing locked down?

01:30:16
Speaker 1: But I underlay later they're going they're trying to go that route. Maybe they see like Patrick Mahomes and him sitting here behind Alex Smith and look at what he became, right.

01:30:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, right, like you never know, you never know.

01:30:30
Speaker 1: I think that's the hardest thing in the NFL is being a rookie first round quarterback and been expected to walk into the building and beat a guy the CEO from the moment you hit the doors.

01:30:42
Speaker 4: Like Caleb Williams, you see them just came out and they're like, this is the starting quarterback? Yeah, which is I don't think I've ever seen that done. We're a first overall pick like days after a couple of weeks after the draft, like, yep, quarterback, that's it. That's got to be a crazy amount of pressure, right.

01:30:58
Speaker 5: And when we were sitting with raw too, like uh, he was alluding to Atlanta struggled when Matt Ryan was done, like when he was on like his last leg, like there wasn't anybody, right. He was just talking about kind of the future, you know, how they decided to make that pick on that draft night. But you have experience now with going into j Lo Jordan love with the Packers, and then also you were around with Aaron and Zach Wilson with the Jets. He was somebody who was expected you got to do the bathroom. I was gonna say, you come into a situation too.

01:31:30
Speaker 1: You got a cup right there?

01:31:31
Speaker 4: What's up? Man?

01:31:32
Speaker 1: I thought this was gonna.

01:31:37
Speaker 5: Uh yeah, you come into a situation there where it's like, yeah, we watched the hard knocks and juicy hard knocks like uh sala like all of it. It seemed like, yo, you were excited for the Jets because there's they've been such a franchise who just wants to win so badly, a big media market and everything else. You go into that first game and Aaron's down after four plays?

01:31:59
Speaker 4: How big? Talk about that moment, talk about those few weeks, Well, it was like lead, you guys are like, are coming for it all? Oh?

01:32:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like that was by far the best defense I've ever been around. Like watching them day in and day out in practice, the way that they practice, the way they get to the ball, like I've never seen anything like it. Right, So we knew that the defense was going to be who they were. And again like when went twelve or eight? Is the quarterback? Like you got a chance? We had Brisett running back, who monster monster, Like he's so cold, Like I don't think people realize how good he is, and I hope that, you know, they'll they'll start to see that.

01:32:42
Speaker 5: B Jon Robinson, we had him on. We interviewed him last week and he his top three running backs, Breese was number two.

01:32:48
Speaker 4: Yea, so cold. Yeah, he's starting to get on the radar a little bit, but he is nice.

01:32:53
Speaker 1: So you got you got him at running back Garrett who is freaky at receiver, like he's cold, like he's gonna be he's if Aaron is out there, he's going to have one of those years. Like one of those years. It's like, okay, we see, we see why he's who he is. Yea, but yeah, we were going into a flying high and then four plays in, four plays in like he goes down, he goes to the blue tent. They take him back to the locker room. But like, obviously we're still in the middle of the game. I didn't know what actually happened in a moment, like we didn't have to replay on the sideline. We didn't know, but you ask a trainer. I was asking the trainers. They weren't giving me anything. They didn't say anything. So I'm like, every few minutes, I'm waiting for him to run out the tunnel, you know. I'm like, I don't seen this before. He done went to the locker room, came out in the second half, like so.

01:33:44
Speaker 4: He was just carrying the flag out there.

01:33:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, okay, he's coming back. Where's he at? And then like halftime comes around, Like as soon as the you know, clock his zero, I go sprint to the locker room. I walk into the training room and I see him and like the moment we locked eyes, like I've never seen him cry the way that like they were flowing that night, and like in that moment, I was like, damn, Like it felt like I had lost family, you know what I mean, Like it it felt like I had heard that my brother died, you know what I mean. Like that was and you and I'm seeing him, man, Like It's just like so much emotion in that moment, and like we still got to go and play the second half, you know, so like but in that moment, like I just felt so bad for him, because I knew how much he had put into this, Like we had talked about getting an apartment in New York, like back in like twenty fourteen, like together together with roommates, not roommates, but like we're going to get a place in the same building, like you know.

01:34:47
Speaker 4: Like.

01:34:48
Speaker 1: Yeah you said yeah, yeah, but you know, yeah we were like we were because we've always loved New York, like you know, that's that's always been a place that we've both talked about a lot. Crazy but yeah, but like it's crazy like that that happened, Like we literally manifested that into being and like to see how much work he had put into it, the entire offseason, the entire training camp and like four plays like not even like we're not talking about like four games, four plays, Like for him only to have that experience for four plays, Uh, it was tough. It was. It was a tough moment for him, I know for sure. And like the rest of that season was just like we just trying to hold on our defense playing their ass off, like.

01:35:37
Speaker 4: Your defense is so good, we get the.

01:35:39
Speaker 1: Ball back in midfield like think okay, like we like hoping like please, like can we please get a field goal on this drive, like.

01:35:49
Speaker 4: Do something something the Chiefs early year. Yeah, how was Zach Wilson's mental during that when you're getting the ball at the fifty yard line, you're like, please, God, just get to the five.

01:36:00
Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I think again, like I talk about with rookie quarterbacks being thrown into the fire, and being thrown into the fire in New York City, the biggest media market potentially in the world, and there's so much hype for us as a team, like those Crows, like they came picking, they came picking us apart from that point on, and like they had picked Zach for three years, right, So now he's you know, he's thrust it back into this position once again, Like it would have been. I would have loved to see him be able to sit back for an entire season and learn and see like he got to see it for a month. But like I would have loved for him to had that opportunity because I think he's very talented. I think he just hadn't he hadn't had that piece of understanding of knowing and you know, hopefully things are a little different for him in Denver when.

01:36:54
Speaker 5: On the outside looking in. Obviously Aaron eight being out there is like the glue of the entire operation. Is it the same way internally? Like? Organization wise? Was it much different? Like when Aaron's kind of calling the shots or not calling the shots, but a part of it in a big way leading up to that first game. Toward the rest of the season, now the organization is kind of you know, running around with chickens with their head cut off, Like what was the vibe because obviously everybody has their thoughts on the outside looking in, but what was the vibe on the inside.

01:37:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean as players, like we're just trying to win, right, Like we're trying to do everything we can to win. But you know, when you're a little bit of an older player, like you start connecting with more people than just the players because like most of the players that I'm around there, you know, their early twenties, the thing they're doing their thing. Like, I'm spending more time with the people in the weight room, the nutrition staff, the performance you know. So you know, I'm in a training room talking to you know, everyone, like all the trainers and stuff like you just start to like hear bits and pieces from all the different areas and like once you start tying the pieces together and you start seeing you're like, oh wait, I don't seen this before. And it wasn't in Dallas and it wasn't in Green Bay. Yeah, okay, okay.

01:38:16
Speaker 4: Okay, we're gonna do how do we get traded?

01:38:21
Speaker 1: No? No, but it was it was like it was really difficult. But I think they put so much into that one season and obviously they made such a big move for Aaron, Like, I think that they were in a very tough spot and I think it was a little bit of PTSD for them as well. Like, you know, it just.

01:38:41
Speaker 4: Seemed like finally the year for the Jets. Yeah, whatever it is. They be a good team that all New York Americans. Yeah, America's good.

01:38:51
Speaker 1: For It's coming this year though, It's I think, like I'm I'm very optimistic about the Jets this year. I think, like the pieces that they moved and that they made on the old line, it's gonna be a big, big move for them, a big step.

01:39:06
Speaker 4: You know.

01:39:06
Speaker 1: The defense is what the defense is. You know, they bring in Mike Williams. They draft a young guy out of Western Kentucky that he looked I mean just a little bit of tape that I seen on him. He looks nice. Uh, Like I said, you got breefes in the backfield, Like the pieces are there once again. We'll see how it plays out.

01:39:28
Speaker 4: Dude, What was it like when Aaron's done? Like, okay, he's Achilles nine months at least. All of a sudden November heads was clamoring, you're even Thanksgiving Turkey and all of a sudden you're hearing Aaron might actually come back. Like how real was that to you?

01:39:42
Speaker 1: I was like, there's no way, what were we talking?

01:39:46
Speaker 4: He got on the practice field. On the practice field that is nuts. Was just.

01:39:52
Speaker 1: But listen, you gotta understand too, like he was that entire time, Like he went back to l A and he was doing his rehab in l A. So we would only see him on some Sundays. He would fly in for the game. You know, sometimes he would meet us, like he met us in Vegas for the game. So we were seeing bits and pieces like we didn't know like where he actually was and like we keep hearing this and like, yeah, you can throw a ball, like you're standing there throwing the ball, you're not really moving around. But when he comes back and he like, is actually practicing. I think everyone was like, wait, hold on, Like if we could have won just like a couple more games. I really do believe if we were in contention at that point, that he could have played Like that is.

01:40:34
Speaker 4: So you really believe I really could.

01:40:36
Speaker 1: Have played a game I would in a wild card game without a doubt. He would have been able to play Rogers Okay, playoff game in twenty fourteen. He had a pulled calf. We couldn't do anything under center. We were in the pistol and the gun. Everything was out of the pistol and gun. He was like, I'm just saying we would have been able to have him on the field. He would have been able to play. Would it have been smart for him? No, but he could have played. If you I wish that somebody could pull the practice tape so y'all could see some of the throws that he was making the last week of practice against the starting Jets. Right now, I'm telling you that he could have played in the planning off his back foot, planting off his throws.

01:41:28
Speaker 5: Is he the best player you've ever been around?

01:41:30
Speaker 1: Without a doubt, Like it's not even close, Like who's second? Okay, yeah, without a doubt.

01:41:38
Speaker 4: Oh we had two without a doubts. About three is of doubt at three. No, that's all right, now, it took you that long. It can't be without those two.

01:41:49
Speaker 1: Those two are a different caliber of player. And I saw Aaron at his height and take it to another level. I saw Tate when he came into the league and what he's built up to. So it's two different tracks, but they're both plateauing at the same level. Hall of Fame put that jelly jacket on him, like that's the type of players that they are.

01:42:13
Speaker 4: Do you think people are sleeping on Taen now, because the last couple of years in the Raiders.

01:42:17
Speaker 1: I don't think people sleep on him. I just don't think that they get the TV time because like he's playing with the Raiders.

01:42:22
Speaker 5: And he's not in twelve's not the quarterback.

01:42:25
Speaker 1: And twelve's not the quarterback. But I mean what he's done without twelve goes to.

01:42:29
Speaker 4: Show like he's an absolute study. He's a whole fame. We're just like you're saying, yeah, but I just feel like we're at the Raiders. Was zigg and stuff like that. He just it seemed like he wasn't getting the ball enough, Like there was all these things coming out. Yeah, I won't want you feed a guy like that twenty four to seven. You would think you take that boy to Golden Corral.

01:42:48
Speaker 1: But they did that. They did that once once the new head coach took over. After they after they fired mcdangels, like he started getting his pieces again. But yeah, I like watching them too. Whenever I came back, it was like I love ball. I love the in and out. I love the x'es and o's, I love the film, like the way that they talk about ball, like and that's the one thing when you're around Aaron, like if you on his respect, you got to know the game. Like you can be talented as all get out, but like I need you to understand that you're third in the progression, Like you can't be getting out of your route too soon and be open and like expect me to get you the ball Like I am going through my progression. I need you there. I need you to be there at a certain time, get open at a certain time. And like I don't know if you've ever seen that clip of Cooper Cup after the game where he's talking about like what he saw and play and like he's diagnosing the defense and he's breaking it down. That isn't that is a weekend, week out thing in Green Bay. That's just how we talk ball. That's how we break it down. Like if you are one of the guys, like you got to be on your exes and o's, you got to be on your film study. And I'll never forget there was a there was a practice in twenty one when I came back and Tay went over to air and he was like, hey, like, did you see did you see the Rams play? I think it was played twenty seven? It was cover three they did this, and they're like in the middle of practice talking about, oh, this is gonna be a moment during this game. And then we get to Sunday and we get that exact presentation and the play is exactly the way that they talked about it right there in that moment. Like that's just a next level of IQ in the game, and that's the difference between the elite quarterbacks and like that second tier. Like when I talked to Brandon Cooks about his time with Breeze and Brady, Like it's those conversations that's being had rather than just being the play call and no one that can and no like it's it's a lot more depth to the game.

01:45:00
Speaker 5: God that gets me horn.

01:45:03
Speaker 4: There's nothing better than schematically You're going over something all week like this will come up, this will come up, and the moment it comes up in a game and everyone realizes like, holy shit, this is what they said it was going to be and executing.

01:45:16
Speaker 1: But it's not the coaches though? Is the difference?

01:45:18
Speaker 4: Right?

01:45:19
Speaker 1: These are we talking about two Hall of Fame caliber players talking about it.

01:45:23
Speaker 4: Here's would have loved Ben Jones would have loved to the Jets last year? You know he didn't. I think I know up top, I guess in the middle, Okay, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, thing Roh was talking about him. Hey, I'll tell you what I know. We're kind of talking as if people don't know who we're talking about, which you'll probably figure it out. I know the amount of players from the Jets that hit me up that were not just in that position group, but other position groups been like is it always like this? And I had to just politely be like, yes, good luck.

01:46:04
Speaker 1: Can I put it out there?

01:46:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't care. I publicly said it, So it's all good.

01:46:09
Speaker 1: It's so funny because like we would run I want to say it was either a screen or outside zone or something. But every time they would have to run to the numbers two strips, and every time they got to the numbers, they'd be like and run back to the huddle. And I was like, what the what the fuck are they talking about?

01:46:31
Speaker 7: What?

01:46:31
Speaker 4: Like?

01:46:32
Speaker 1: I kept asking everybody right there why. I was like, what is going on? Later in the season, I finally figured out what it was, but like, yeah, like it's.

01:46:43
Speaker 5: People don't like coach.

01:46:47
Speaker 4: I legitimately tried to fight him his first year at the Tights. I actually Dennis Kelly held me back from trying to fight this man. It was that it was that difficulty situation. He is a beauty, but it really it was crazy to me because he kind of went and he got better with the Titans, so I thought, Okay, he's on a good path, let him go. Yeah, and I started, literally I think it was like the first week, like the last week of July, first week of August. I started getting dms from players, offensive lineman, running backs, tight ends.

01:47:18
Speaker 5: How did you do this?

01:47:19
Speaker 4: Yeah? Like is he always liked this?

01:47:21
Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, I wonder how Ty Smith that run.

01:47:26
Speaker 4: Bro, there's no way that well, there's no way he's heading that well. Yeah, two stripes all the time. Just it's I hate, I hate talking nasty. Yeah, but it truly is like sometimes guys that just haven't played the game in that position just don't understand. It's three and ten pounds plus all that running affects you negatively. There's a return after a while, but after you know it's only a certain amount of running, you're actually getting hurt more than you're helping. Especially week eight, we nine, when you're not seeing the end of the season.

01:48:02
Speaker 1: Take care of you guys.

01:48:03
Speaker 4: Take care of your guys, Guys, you've got to otherwise dudes will get hurt, especially off it's the line. They've got to be in shape. But there's smart ways to keep dudes in shape without busting the had.

01:48:12
Speaker 1: That situation with the Titans right where, didn't I see like a stat where there's been like the most guys on.

01:48:16
Speaker 4: I row, Oh yeah, record in ninety was it twenty or twenty one? Twenty? It was back to back. It was the year you guys I think went to the AFC Championship no, no, no, twenty twenty. We're talking about the year where you went down with your first ACO. But even I think twenty twenty one was the first year we set a record for most players played on one team. It was like five or something like that.

01:48:38
Speaker 5: Twenty twenty one, Yeah, most players use with ninety one, and then followed up that year with eighty six players using twenty twenty the second most.

01:48:45
Speaker 4: And we're talking about like soft We're not just talking about ligament. We're talk about soft tish, like dude, just it's just tough, man, and it's hard enough, you know how it is small. I have a kink in my neck from sleeping wrong last night, let alone playing a damn season and just watching you that makes me so sick I can barely look left right. I know, bro, it is. It's crazy how the dudes that have played it and are now teaching it understand that part. And it's such a crucial part of football is when you get to that age, once you hit let's just say twenty five years old. I don't know what the benchmark is, but let's just say it's twenty five. You have to be smarter about the way you train and the way you practice. It's not a toughness thing, it's not an effort thing. It's finding ways to give the effort when it counts, and that is like one of the most difficult things for coaches to figure out. I feel like, which goes along with our conversation about Keith Carter even like winning, like even winning the room, and like leaving, like there are times to be gritty, like hey, I know this.

01:49:37
Speaker 5: Sucks, but trust me, trust me, trust me, And then there's times to pull backward. It's like, hey, being gritty right now might not be the move. It might be a little more detrimental than.

01:49:45
Speaker 4: And that was the thing. It was like all gas, no breaks, all time, which is awesome. If you're watching Remember the Titans, that's a fantasical you're watching it, we're watching watching it.

01:49:54
Speaker 1: That way for me.

01:49:56
Speaker 4: For me, that's great sports. And you you haven't watched everything Goon, I haven't Taylor Taylor, Yeah, he's not big on Remember the Titans. Yeah, but also chick Flay was overplayed for me and we had to Flay the other day and it shit's fire. Yeah, so I maybe need to go rewatch it. That said, I don't remember what I was saying, it's hard, dude, It's fucking hard playing in the NFL. It really is. And it sucks when you get older and you find you for the first time, you feel damn, I'm a little bit older. Hey, I'm not recovering as fast as I used to recover.

01:50:27
Speaker 1: It's a real thing.

01:50:28
Speaker 4: It's a real thing, and it's just staying ahead of the chains. And when you have somebody that's hurting you more than helping you, it is the most difficult ship.

01:50:35
Speaker 1: What is the most important day of the week Sunday Sunday. Yes, Like we should always be building up to Sunday. You should know who you have in your room. You should know your guys. You should know what they need and what they don't need. Like as a coach, like you should be looking at that. That's why I always like, I got so much love for Sanjay shout out out there, my receiver coach in Dallas. Like when I got to like, I had hamstring issues, they put they put me on a hamstring program that I was doing, uh every week, but in practice, like I would practice Wednesday, no, I practice, I would practice just individual on Wednesday. So coming off a game play Sunday, you know whatever, on Monday, Tuesday, off day, Wednesday. He would give me an extra little extra time to recover, so I would just do individual and when we got the team periods, like I was just holding the script, like being able to go through the place mentally stay there right. And then on Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, I was on a show. Yeah, like I was on a snap count, like you know, I had so many reps. And then on Friday was like, that's my gas day. I'm going on Friday, even though it's fast Friday, so his practice is shorter. He knew exactly what I needed on my legs.

01:51:55
Speaker 4: You run the red zone real quick at full speed there through the rest of the practice exactly down that you gotta, you know, you to give them that little move.

01:52:03
Speaker 1: We get the Sunday, like I felt like like later in my career and Dallas was like it was it was gold, Like that was that was a perfect setup for me, and like I basically carried that with me the rest of my career after that, Like he gave me that piece and when I went back to Green Bay, and maybe that was one of the reasons they wanted to grind us out like maybe that was one of the reasons they thought that I couldn't go because I was like, no, I need, like this is what I need because Sunday is the most important day. Like you need some managements in the game practice.

01:52:37
Speaker 4: Yeah, but we'll talk about that when you go from like all right, Green Bay, Dallas, Dallas, Houston, Houston, Green Bay. How are you telling them this is what I need without sounding like it's tough to say that without sounding like a bitch. Sometimes do you at least feel like you sound like a bitch, Like hey.

01:52:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, definitely. I just I told them my history, like the same way that go to the training staff or the strength conditioning. I haven't squatted since two thousand and nine. I have a fa set dysfunction, like and my facet in my back will get locked up, so like I haven't backsquatted since two thousand and nine. My entire NFL career, I never backsquatted, Like there's a reason for it, Like there's a reason that I couldn't Like, so, I mean we made it work, and like it was great. My career worked out, so like it is what it is right at the end of the day, like try to give that conversation, like you know.

01:53:37
Speaker 4: It's tough. Then when you hang up the back squad at first you love it. You're like, damn, I never have to back squad again. Yeah, and then after a while it kind of like I want to squad.

01:53:46
Speaker 1: Yeah. See, I like press, I do heavy like press.

01:53:49
Speaker 4: You pitch your guy too? Yeah, I love the pitch. Sure, you're about you do that little thing where you kind of keep it la straight and do the bounce back and forth you see, you know, and the pitch shark. I never liked the pitch shark. I'll tell you what I liked was We're foot elevated Legends. That was my favorite exercise. We had did this French eccentric exercises in Vanderbilt, the French contrast. Yes, and that was probably my favorite training program I've ever had.

01:54:15
Speaker 1: How much were working out now?

01:54:17
Speaker 4: I mean, come on, we get e tail us.

01:54:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, right now, that's what I'm asking.

01:54:23
Speaker 4: Try to stay lean well, I mean we hit it. Try to do you try to do a little.

01:54:26
Speaker 1: Something every day.

01:54:28
Speaker 4: Whether the weekends that happens or not is whatever. But Monday through Friday, you're pretty conscious, intentional about getting the upper, getting a lower, getting some conditioning, getting your son, getting your cold tub, like just staying ahead of the change of life now because now you're thinking about you take all the hits, like you're talking about your kids. You think I've taken all these head hits, the shoulder, the knee, the ankle, whatever it is, and you're like, how do I not Just you see like older people walking into the grocery store and you're like, god, damn, I don't want that. And you look at the guy you keep probably never played football. So you just kind of want to stay ahead of all tho stuff. If you want to feel good, you obviously want to look good, and then everything in between.

01:55:03
Speaker 5: It's like, no matter what if it feels like the ideal situation every week trying to like exercise and get out there like five times, like today, Taylor's in there working with lower body. Right, he was in there getting after a lower body. Either way, he was in there getting after it. And I worked out the two days on the weekend, so I kind of, you know, my garment right now says overreaching, So I need to I need to work on.

01:55:23
Speaker 4: Some recovery living.

01:55:24
Speaker 5: So I'm in there while Taylor's working out the whole time, and I'm just doing incline walks like Zone two cardio, thirty minutes of pop. Get some Zone two Cardio on my life.

01:55:31
Speaker 4: But you know we're getting those little garments, like for me, did you ever get better an or ring? For in football? Whenever I had those, I would have the or ring. I remember one season I wore like the first four weeks of the season, but I would wake up on Sunday and he'd be like, my sleep level was like a fifty. I'd be like, oh, maybe I'm not ready for the game. This, that and the other. To the portal. I had to take it off. I was I cannot Yeah, I can't handle this. I can't handle them. I can't tape the whoop down. Yeah. I just couldn't. It's too much. It's too much, you know I built like that. I wasn't.

01:56:05
Speaker 5: Yeah I had uh, I had one more for you now that he's no longer with the team. But how dramatic was it?

01:56:13
Speaker 4: Was?

01:56:13
Speaker 5: It as dramatic as it seems with Zach Wilson in the middle of the year stuff to where it's like we're trying to text him to get back. I think he left at one point the mom stuff. But also I think he left at one point and they had to get him to come back. What he knows what I'm talking about.

01:56:26
Speaker 1: Let's what's going on, right, what happened?

01:56:32
Speaker 4: We're not going back? We might go back there. Yeah, he left. Yeah, it was it pretty dramatic.

01:56:39
Speaker 1: I think in the media was more dramatic than it actually was.

01:56:41
Speaker 4: Yeah.

01:56:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that they had told them told him that they were going to trade him an off season, and then they benched him, and then they wanted him to play again, and then they try to blame him for not wanting to play. But you just told him that you're going to trade.

01:56:58
Speaker 4: Him, Like it was just a lot of politics go on.

01:57:00
Speaker 1: It was a lot of politics.

01:57:03
Speaker 4: Like.

01:57:03
Speaker 1: It was a lot of like, come on, man, like what are we doing here?

01:57:06
Speaker 4: A lot of taking, a lot of taking going to New York hunt right.

01:57:09
Speaker 1: A lot of a lot of meeting with the a lot of meeting with the media, like feeding them stuff.

01:57:14
Speaker 5: Like damn, throughout your career, how many years you played thirteen thirteen?

01:57:19
Speaker 4: We want you to Tier. Oh we're getting the segments, yeah, oh, Tier talk one to three. You can throw in a couple of honorable mentions. Are you familiar with your talk?

01:57:27
Speaker 1: I'm not.

01:57:28
Speaker 4: Okay, go ahead, will.

01:57:30
Speaker 5: Basically lists your top three okay, teammates throughout your career.

01:57:35
Speaker 4: Start at three and give us a little something. I wants need to hear names. I want to know why tap me on a little journey and listen.

01:57:40
Speaker 5: This is teammates. It's not the best athletes you play with. This is in popularity kind of this. This is Renal cobbs favorite teammates throughout his career, hanging.

01:57:47
Speaker 4: At the locker. We're going, Hey, we're going to trip on Vegas. Hey we're taking a trip. You should come that type of those types of guys, guys that.

01:57:52
Speaker 5: Were about that life that might not have had all the all the accolades. Is like a twelve or something.

01:57:58
Speaker 1: About that life having fun, not so much the ball part, but the life part.

01:58:03
Speaker 5: Friendship.

01:58:04
Speaker 4: You don't have to be the best player.

01:58:06
Speaker 1: Friends you had best friends had in the locker of room. I would say at three, I gotta say probably Jordan Nelson, Like JORDI was one of my guys, Like yeah, yeah, that's my that's my man, White Lightning.

01:58:25
Speaker 7: He was.

01:58:27
Speaker 1: He was the guy, Like I learned so much from him outside of football, like as far as being a dad and that kind of thing. So I'm gonna start with him there. Two for me probably Brandon Cooks. Cooks was one of my guys, like me and him kick it like in Houston. We were there together going through the same thing. So like we got you know, we got a lot, We got a lot to hold on to when it comes to that.

01:58:54
Speaker 4: And then one.

01:58:58
Speaker 1: Y'all are saying not to do who y'all know who I want to put there. But I'm you know, I'm I'm gonna go another route, and I'm gonna say, probably don't even know this guy. DJ Williams. He was with me, we got drafted together in Green Bay and you know, young draft draftee's coming in together in the Green Bay. Like we got some good time, some good stories from back in the day.

01:59:22
Speaker 5: Damn was DJ linebacker?

01:59:24
Speaker 1: No tight end he played, Yeah he was. He was a tight end out of Arkansas.

01:59:29
Speaker 4: Did you tell him not to put Aaron in there? Yeah? I mean, I'm just we know he's God, that's your.

01:59:35
Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers.

01:59:36
Speaker 4: Yeah.

01:59:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's my guy. That's my guy. Yes, boy, I was trying not to go you know, interesting.

01:59:41
Speaker 4: For me to hear your list and not hear the name David Baktiari. I thought he's gonna give me some ship, He's will give me some ship.

01:59:49
Speaker 1: But me and him got I got a bone to pick with him right now because they went to Derby, and I normally go to Derby, but we had a family trip that was planned that I forg got about Derby. So okay, the family trip. Then I couldn't go to Derby. And you know, so so who you so yeah yeah yeah, no, no, no, yourself, you're mad at myself. I got a bone to pick with him.

02:00:13
Speaker 5: To pick with his honestly, probably his wife.

02:00:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I gotta put it on somebody.

02:00:20
Speaker 4: We're not taking that accountability. It could be somebody else's problem today, because then when you do find out Derby, it's kind of like, hey, yeah, I'm sweet, here's where we kind of messed up.

02:00:29
Speaker 5: But honestly, we're gonna do the family trip.

02:00:30
Speaker 4: Yeah. So what's the bone with with back that you're actually picking with on him off?

02:00:38
Speaker 5: No?

02:00:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, well I was in a group chat the whole time, so I know everything that was going on, So I got to see and feel like I was there, but I wasn't there. Uh but yeah, yeah, I got a bone to pick with you. So we're gonna talk about it this week when I'll see you, all.

02:00:51
Speaker 4: Right, not even in the pond. We have to find out yours. You want me to go, you can go. Oh wait, wait, I had one question. Oh yeah, Brandon Cooks.

02:01:03
Speaker 5: He's somebody who's bounced around the league a lot, but always has like a thousand yard seasons. Like it always seems like if he's somebody who is having that those productive of years, like he would be somewhere longer term. Is there reasons for that other than just like one year at a time, contract situations and him wanning you know, maybe something a little different contract.

02:01:21
Speaker 4: I couldn't.

02:01:22
Speaker 5: I'm always so curious about that.

02:01:23
Speaker 1: I couldn't give you the understanding from a business side standpoint that maybe gms and agents are trying to figure out as far as like numbers and cap hitt and all that kind of thing. But I can tell you that, like he's one of my favorite teammates. The way that he works, like the way that he practices, the things he does after practice, the way that he takes care of his body like he does everything that you would want your guy to do. Like is he like small, Yeah, like he's small, but he's like he plays big. Yeah, you know what I mean, Like he has monster years.

02:01:58
Speaker 7: You know.

02:01:58
Speaker 1: I love his worth ethic, I love his knowledge of the game. I love the way that he goes about his business. So I couldn't tell you the reason why. And I saw him in year I don't know what year that. That was twenty twenty, So that's the year six for him, I believe. So I couldn't tell you what led up to the many trades at that point, but like I got to experience him in year six, and I have nothing bad to say about him as a teammate.

02:02:27
Speaker 4: Respect. I love that respect. I'm up. Okay, I'm gonna give two honorable mentions. Those those honorable mentions are going to go to hard. It's just really hard because you know what I'm doing. I don't know if you did that, you actually did that pretty fast. For me, I think about the end of my career as opposed to like the beginning of my career. As I'm going back to the begining of my career, I'm like, oh, damn, there was this guy that this guy, but uh. I'll give an honorable mention to Corey Levin and Jordan Rus two offensive linemen. Two just gritty white cats that were locker room vibes, good dudes to hang out with always, not always with a smile on their face. But like Corey, type of individual who thinks fast but talks real slow. Went to Chattanooga, Like everything he says is in slow motion. But he's got this humor about him. He just kind of love to be around him, and he's always down and have a conversation regardless. Jordan. I just the thing I love about Jordan is he looks like a have you like a little couple too many pounds Viking, like a long beard, long hair. He is who he is and he doesn't stray away from that, but he has a good time. Like he's got these weird quirks. We would play like this, this song Christmas is a Coming by being Crosby, and he just decided he doesn't like Christmas music and we would have it on repeat from Thanksgiving to Christmas, and it was just him getting annoyed by it, but also having fun with it and just stirring the pot with him all the time. I really enjoyed him, so I have to give them an honorable mention. My tear.

02:04:07
Speaker 1: Fuck, and you put a lot of song into this. Well it's dropped.

02:04:15
Speaker 5: I'm gonna come off the top fairly quick. I was like, damn, no, friends, I'm gonna give my Tier three.

02:04:26
Speaker 4: I want to give it to Derek, but I feel like there was the play aspect played a lot into that as well. Yeah, so I'll keep very smart of you to throw his name in there s that clip. You gotta watch the whole thing. H Tier three. I'm gonna go Dennis Kelly offensive Lineman. Uh, we all know, we all love him.

02:04:53
Speaker 1: He is.

02:04:55
Speaker 4: The devil when it comes to conversations because everything's Devil's advocate. He could actually agree with you, but he's just gonna take the conversation and be like, well what about this? And sometimes you're in the mood for it, and sometimes you're not. What is that called the contrarian? Yeah, I guess the contrary that I haven't said.

02:05:08
Speaker 1: I think can you spell contrarian?

02:05:11
Speaker 4: Please?

02:05:12
Speaker 5: I can't contrarian? Jack be ready to contrary?

02:05:17
Speaker 4: C O N T R A R I A N. Let's see here we go.

02:05:30
Speaker 5: Are we gonna remember those letters contrarian.

02:05:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, come on, now, let's go on.

02:05:39
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, here.

02:05:41
Speaker 5: We'll come up with something. Yeah, salt pepper action.

02:05:45
Speaker 4: My Tier two is gonna go to Ben Jones. And this is a very unique I'm actually flipping them Ben. It's gonna be my three Dennis. I know, I know, I know, but here's why hard life. When I first met Ben, I did not like Ben. I thought Ben was a people pleasing, corporate guy who played both sides but told the coaches things. I didn't trust Ben.

02:06:10
Speaker 5: And he's right, because that's what when Taylor was briefing me on the roster when I first got to Tennessee. That was the thing on Ben.

02:06:15
Speaker 4: You weren't a big fan of No, I wasn't a big fan of Ben thought. I thought he because I was a teacher with the boys type of guy like I was. I messed with the coaches, but I also was like, those guys are the enemy. Also, we got to watch out for them, but trying to get us all and so we got a band together, boys and do what they say, but always, you know, watch a six. Ben didn't feel that way. He kind of went back and forth, best friends with everybody, and I just didn't trust it. Towards the end of my career, I grew to truly appreciate Ben Jones because he was not only for the boys, he was also helping by talking to the coaches. He was so integrated into the culture of the Titans that it was like another coach that had a voice with the other coaches. So it did help us out in return. Great conversationalist, gets along with everybody. He's kind of like a gatekeeper. Great job. It doesn't matter where you came from in life. Ben brings everybody around and he's a He's a massive gloup, especially because our offensive line room we had guys kind of leave go through their Houston process whether it was Houston or not, but they would come back and be black. Brother, you have no idea how good you guys have it here. We had like one of the best offensive line rooms maybe of all time, and it was because of Ben Jones. Like so I'll give I'll give Ben my Tier three nod, putting Dennis at Tier two. Uh oh, excited to hear this one. I don't know who it is is.

02:07:31
Speaker 1: Really, it's not you.

02:07:33
Speaker 4: No. We said before the pod that we were going to exclude each other. Oh yeah, you have to because will would be probably be my honorable mention at the very least. Yeah, this is so much harder. It's crazy.

02:07:51
Speaker 5: You have the other you had the other two and talked about so well, but you don't know who your number one is.

02:07:55
Speaker 4: I know, and I think I'm actually going to yeah, because I thought I had more dames in my head. But now that I'm really getting to it, I.

02:08:02
Speaker 1: Was like, doesn't have friends?

02:08:03
Speaker 5: Yeah, he kind of doesn't.

02:08:08
Speaker 4: Oh man, I'm gonna have to elevate everybody. I'll put Dennis at one, Bennett two.

02:08:17
Speaker 5: Oh man, I thought Mett might be in there.

02:08:21
Speaker 4: I thought about metten Berger, and I'll tell you why I didn't put him in there. In a second, after I figure out who's who's gonna be my tier three over Corey or Jordan, Jordan's gonna be Tier three. Corey uh committed to Beer Olympics and then decided to not get out of it. And I had to find out from Jordan that he was not going to be in it, and for that reason he is in. He fell down the chart.

02:08:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll like the stock market in's steady moving.

02:08:48
Speaker 4: Yeah. June twenty four twenty fifth.

02:08:51
Speaker 5: June twenty four, twenty fifth.

02:08:53
Speaker 1: That's in Vegas. Beer Olympics, guys, I'm not you got some tequila? What's up?

02:08:59
Speaker 4: And we can get you get to be a spectator. You're trying to go out there for the vibes.

02:09:06
Speaker 1: June twenty four, twenty five. Careful what you say, too, because I'm not Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm not gonna I'm not going to commit to anything right now, because if you have any family trips any day, do you want to make sure. Yeah, I'm gonna do a little bit better job preparing myself this time. Okay before I just off the cuffs, Yeah, throwing things out there.

02:09:23
Speaker 5: Respect.

02:09:24
Speaker 1: Yeah.

02:09:25
Speaker 5: So you got Dennis Ben, Jordan Russe. Yeah, and Jordan really flew up the list. I feel like, but I'm saying in the short time I feel like you've been around Jordan.

02:09:37
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think Jordan made a big impact. I mean, I really like Jordan's Yeah, I really like how this intentionally it was awesome. I love how every game.

02:09:48
Speaker 1: This feels like my Space Top eight right now.

02:09:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, I love my Space Top.

02:09:54
Speaker 1: For sure. Change every day.

02:09:58
Speaker 5: I know the background, the background me and uh Webby better Boozy Independent. Maybe they do a collapse.

02:10:06
Speaker 4: My space was the best.

02:10:09
Speaker 1: He does. Having a spelling contest out here today.

02:10:13
Speaker 4: Yeah that's nice.

02:10:15
Speaker 1: Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love this. I love this. I think that, uh the tears. I'm going to have to work on mine to come back to y'all because.

02:10:21
Speaker 4: Oh, you want to change yours up?

02:10:23
Speaker 1: And I'm just I'm just saying, like I I don't think I understood the question before.

02:10:28
Speaker 7: Yeah, don't worry, We'll have another one, a twist the question after Mitch, which Mitch has been working on for weeks.

02:10:34
Speaker 4: My tier list is going to come. Oh on, Met Burger, you want about Yeah, yeah, men Burger, why didn't he make the list? So Met I met and met in a group chat with a bunch of random degenerates before the combine, and then we both get drafted the same year to the Titans and we're at the Millennium Maxwell House. He texts me. He goes, hey, do you want to ride to the facility together for our first practice or first whatever. I was like, yeah, I get in the car and we're driving and Millennium Maxwell House at the time, its facility is probably a five minute drive on that drive, he tells me, he goes, you and I are going to hold each other's hand through this career, spend ten years and both be Hall of Famers. He says that, and I'm thinking to myself, I'm fucking gassed up. I literally live at his house I until my contract got done. I was it was like July, my contract wasn't finished, and I was sleeping on his couch. We were together every single day. The reason why he falls down the list honestly is not the best teammate. And I think when it comes down to the locker room, I loved met like as a friend, Like I thought he was a great, fantastic friend. But when it came to like locker room, we're really trying to get this done, I just didn't. As I look back in it, the effort wasn't one hundred percent there. And that's where he'd from a locker room standpoint. Just doesn't make my list. Damn.

02:11:51
Speaker 1: This sounds like Gary Bertier's fring. I think I think Garyier the one he had to cut, the one he had to cut, this got to cut him in.

02:11:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're missing blocks like that.

02:12:01
Speaker 5: You gotta go try to win, YO, What what a movie.

02:12:07
Speaker 4: My tier list.

02:12:08
Speaker 5: And by the way, you can't go back now because I'm about to start. But I thought to Delaney Walker was going to be.

02:12:13
Speaker 4: Somewhere to kill you.

02:12:16
Speaker 7: I know.

02:12:19
Speaker 4: There's no question, there's no question that Delaney should have been on that list. He's probably one. However, I can't believe I know.

02:12:30
Speaker 1: The same thing with.

02:12:32
Speaker 4: You didn't know you hate We all see it.

02:12:34
Speaker 1: I hate him.

02:12:36
Speaker 5: All of mine I'm thinking about has to do with the Washington roster.

02:12:40
Speaker 4: You Delaney were even close. Delaney's not on mine. I'm just saying, you can't take this back. That does make me sick. Delaney's not on mine. But I just knew.

02:12:51
Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, he's going to be sick when I tell him. Because I've been around you guys enough to have heard all the stories. I've heard all the things, the fun that you guys had. I'm like, for sure, Delaney's gonna and you still have the relationship you have with him now post career.

02:13:02
Speaker 4: So it's like that was a light. That's the thing for Delaney with me, dude, is even with bus and stuff, like, he he's like so available and we know he's there, but for what it's because we know he's so available. We're like, what are we doing over here?

02:13:17
Speaker 5: Yes, minor all around the Washington Redskins. Well, that locker room we had even though we didn't like go far. You guys knocked us.

02:13:24
Speaker 4: Out of the wall. What's the waldcar around? Yeah? The waldcar round? Remember that?

02:13:28
Speaker 5: Take it easy? Yeah, But I'm thinking about that Washington roster because we had a lot of good guys and I'm gonna go on my political rant with you got the Ryan Carrigan's, the Kirk Cousins, Mason Foster, Deshaun Goldston, like Jason Hatcher, Sean Leval, Oh my god, Sean Leval, my tire my Tier three is gonna be a man by the name of Kendrick Goldston, d Lineman out of Georgia played a decade. He was one of those guys. He was never the superstar of the team, but he was the guy who always had the pulse and had the locker room and it was had that just og.

02:14:07
Speaker 4: He was like unk.

02:14:08
Speaker 5: He was like the father figure, the leader as far as like family, the Bible studies, just the all encompassing of what a man and a leader is is Kedrick Golston and I would just sit I'd pick his brain.

02:14:21
Speaker 4: You know, he'd make he'd have.

02:14:23
Speaker 5: That southern accent that make you laugh like he was the best. So Uncle Kedrick Golston was my tier three. My tier two is going to go to Trent Murphy.

02:14:35
Speaker 4: He was somebody that I've been around.

02:14:38
Speaker 5: We were around each other our entire you know, our entire stant with Washington when he got drafted, like in the meetings, fucking around with each other, like stuff off the field, like we go on our little hunting trip every year. But he's somebody that you pick up the phone and you talk to him or when you're texting, like it's like that that texting style that you have with each other to where you're always laughing about something or you know where they're coming from. That Trent Murphy, he was like he was my boy, somebody you could be self deprecating around and kind of bitch with. But know that we're about that life. But we're gonna sit here and we're gonna bitch a little bit in Asana. Oh yes, My tier one is going to go to Adam Hayward. He was a linebacker that was with Tampa for a little bit and then came to Washington and he came like my second year to where he put his arm around me. He's like, hey, if you're gonna make the team this year, it's gonna be through special teams, not gonna be knowing what to do a linebacker and everything else. Because I was on peace squad the first year and he kind of took me under his wing and like you know, I rode with him everywhere. We'd drive to the games together, we'd break down film with each other, and he was like always kind of that mentor vibe to where we were around each other all the time where we'd bicker at each other. We'd low key argue way too much and honestly be mad at each other a lot, but because of like how close we are and how we saw everything and Adam Hayward video games like in the off season, like he was the cat that I was talking to and we knew each other like he was he was my guy with his years in Washington, So he's my He's my tier one.

02:16:04
Speaker 4: So that's my list, one of those guys Arizona boy.

02:16:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I was gonna say Trent, but yeah, bro, Adam Hayward Kedrick Golston just just staples staples of the career, like for just all of it, for a lot of things.

02:16:21
Speaker 4: When Trent and I were in high school, it always seemed like there was some tension there between him and I because he might.

02:16:26
Speaker 5: Always feel like that with Trent, like he just he's a very hellfish kind of like.

02:16:30
Speaker 4: He was dating a girl named Taylor in high school.

02:16:33
Speaker 1: Wait, do you have something to tell us?

02:16:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, Taylor was a she. Now that it's out, yeah, but there was always like a weird tension. He was always dating like Chaparral people, and he was a Brophy kid, all boys school and stuff like that. And you knew about Trent Murphy, but he was wasn't in the circles. I was only around him a couple of times.

02:16:50
Speaker 5: I thought, you guys would hit off now, but you're for sure, we're boys, for sure each other is like you're not each other's cup of tea. Like if I'm thinking of back in the younger days, oh, just knowing both you guys, you guys would hit off now.

02:17:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think that the younger tailor you're thinking of was college tailor. I wasn't like that high school.

02:17:10
Speaker 5: What were you like in high school.

02:17:11
Speaker 4: I didn't drink it all my senior year.

02:17:13
Speaker 5: Hey, your protein shakes early in the morning.

02:17:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like, get up at three am, get a protein shake in. I was on that grind, Yeah, I was. I was about it, definitely about that.

02:17:22
Speaker 5: Actually, do you have have you thought of anybody else since we've been kind of talking about it.

02:17:25
Speaker 4: I feel sick, Yeah, because I feel sick about we don't feel I do.

02:17:31
Speaker 1: That was tough.

02:17:33
Speaker 4: Thank god Dlanna doesn't watch our show.

02:17:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's tough.

02:17:37
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Delanna.

02:17:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm for sure gonna.

02:17:40
Speaker 4: I got to think.

02:17:41
Speaker 1: I think one of the one of the things, one of the things I think about was just like when you think about retirement, is this what you miss?

02:17:47
Speaker 7: Like?

02:17:48
Speaker 1: This feels like locker room talk.

02:17:49
Speaker 4: Rights what the show's about.

02:17:51
Speaker 1: This is locker room talk. This is what it felt like. This is this is the vibe that you get right every day, every single morning you're walking in like everybody has their little crew and like you know, some teams intermingle a little bit more, but you have these moments and you have these conversations just happening all throughout the locker room. People playing corn hole ping pong over here playing chess like bou Ray, having these conversations and like I think when it when you think about like being removed from that, that's the part that you always miss more because these are the bonds that are built, These are the memories that are made, and you have guys that's never been heard of, like, but you have these relationships that last alone like a lifetime, and you have these memories that you can look back on. Like I think that like when you think of post career, that's that's what people lack and we miss, and that's one of the reasons that brought us to Nashville because there's so many of us here and we can have these moments and it just feels like so easy to do, like coming to Easter and you know, Sack racing it up.

02:18:57
Speaker 4: By the way.

02:19:00
Speaker 1: Either way, I mean, the tape is what the tape is.

02:19:02
Speaker 4: I might edged you out come on. Everyone was celebrating you, but you know nobody wanted to check on me going face first over that finish line. I'm trying to get it full effort for effort. Hey, I'm so sick. You guys were at my house for Easter party and I I'm sick at.

02:19:19
Speaker 5: His kids are wiping the floor with everybody. And then when we don't well, I'm like, well, let's see how we can bounce here. And then as as the race, I mean it was only like what ten yards long? Maybe as we're at that like five yard mark, and I felt that I was like, oh shit, I could win this thing.

02:19:33
Speaker 4: I'm just like itching to try to beat this to you? Did you felt that you seemed like you didn't feel nothing?

02:19:39
Speaker 1: Did you you just thought I didn't even see you. To be honest with you, I just you gotta watch the tape.

02:19:43
Speaker 4: I saw the face first down.

02:19:47
Speaker 1: It's a lot. It's a lot of that tape to like break down and look through like there's a guy that looked like it towards a cl Yeah, it's good.

02:19:56
Speaker 4: Nashville is a fun time. It is. The house is the house you're building. You said you have a big entertainment an area in there. I want you to know. Nashville people stake their claim to holiday parties, and Tailan has staked her claim in Easter. You can take any other holiday you want, but I don't. I swear to god, dude, if I get a card, say you're invited to the random to the Cobb family Easter party. We will have problems. We're not doing that, my wife. We just got to get a guy night going with the vibe.

02:20:26
Speaker 1: It's gonna be a spot cigar guy I am like. I mean, I'm not. I don't know him as well, but I like I like the silver cigar from time to time. You know, we got the golf simulator. It'll be it'd be a good little spot simulators.

02:20:38
Speaker 4: I don't even like golf, but they are fun. Yeah, those are a good time. When's that gonna be done?

02:20:43
Speaker 1: Hopefully next year? Next year? You know, you know how they say it's six months and it's twelve. Yeah, twelve is eighteen. But yeah, we'll see, we'll see it. We'll make something happen.

02:20:54
Speaker 4: But it's gonna be the best easter.

02:20:56
Speaker 1: Easter was great, by the way, We missed you there. But my son, my middle boy, called his first fish at your house. So you know, we'll always be thankful for your pond.

02:21:05
Speaker 4: Very welcome. That is awesome. Kind of fish was the best.

02:21:08
Speaker 1: I have no idea cool.

02:21:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, that is so great.

02:21:14
Speaker 1: Fights at the house later that day, what's that led to? Fights at the house later that day because the older brother didn't catch a fish.

02:21:20
Speaker 4: So about it. That lays us into our next segment. We have a dad segment that is essentially it can be hey, a little bit of wisdom you can put on new dads out there. It can be something that pisses you off about your kids, but this is a safe space for you to talk about your kids, your experiences. So it's kind of like we have also a saving called shadow no fore shadow, but it's a small little thing that maybe happened this weekend. Maybe as a father that things that you like to do raising three young boys that you want to tell to these people right now.

02:21:50
Speaker 1: I would think just trying to make things fun. You know, kids want to be kids, they want to have fun. I've noticed that times whenever I'm like, don't do that, get over here, you know, it just like it adds to the fuel, right and it just we all all our levels go up, and then we're really then we're really in the thick of it. But one thing that I've here recently, I don't know where the idea came from, but like one day I was just like, hey, like I need you to go take a shower. Like take your shower. Then I'm gonna do introductions, like I'm gonna play introduction for you to come out to like right, because they come to all our games, they see the introduction everyone getting called out. So whenever, whenever I want to get them, like in the shower so we can get this bedtime routine started. Like I say, let's do introductions. I put on the Chicago Bulls intro. Whenever they get out of the shower, I give a whole spiel like yeah, I give the whole rundown and then cave coup and he'll come out and do a little dance like cast being does a cartwheel and he come through. We got handshakes, you know.

02:22:54
Speaker 4: So it's just awesome.

02:22:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, just trying to trying to do something fine ways to make it fun. And you know, again with the boys, we're always outside like we're playing sports where you know, I'm just trying to be as president as I can with them because I know this moment's gonna pass. Like I know in five years they're gonna go want to be with their boys, and you know, just trying to have these moments now while I got them.

02:23:17
Speaker 5: Is there anything you take from your career, like the work you put in that you you know, try to have resonate with them or you take from your career to help you in fatherhood.

02:23:28
Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I would say with them, like my son, my oldest, thinks he's the coldest thing that's ever ever touched the soccer ball. Like he's nice, he's not who he thinks he is though yet maybe he can get there one day, but he's not that yet.

02:23:48
Speaker 4: Yeah.

02:23:49
Speaker 1: So it's just like being able to like teach him and have moments with him to like, you know, slowly let the air out that balloon and bring him back to the ground. And then with my younger one, lift him up because he see his brother like being able to do so much climb up a tree and jump over this, and he can't do it, but he wants to do it. And now he's crying because he's mad because he can't do it. So it's like taking you know, everything that I've learned and understand and always tell my little one like hey are my middle one, Like hey, bro, like you're going to be bigger than him in about seven years, Like you're going to be taller than him. You're gonna weigh more than he does, like, you're gonna be all right, but he just, well, what am I going to be? Six? When am I going to be? Like he's always ready for that next thing, but just trying to like lift him up, bring the other one down, make sure that they understand that, like the only way you get better is the work that you put in. Like and he's my son is five and four right now, both of them are you know, they're too young to be thinking about Like my oldest son said, he's getting drafted and he's playing soccer in Europe.

02:24:55
Speaker 4: Like, as a dad does what you want to hear.

02:24:57
Speaker 1: I would love that. I would love yeah, yeah, and I'm and I'm I'm always gonna I'm always going to support that. I'm always going to push themto that. But I need him to understand too, that even if it's ten minutes a day, let's go kick the soccer ball like every day. So if you when you get to the game on Saturday, the kid that hasn't played soccer other than the last game you done played, you know, the past five days, you've gotten fifty minutes of soccer on top of whatever practice that you've had, Like that's going to add up over the course of time, and when you get to high school, maybe that kid that's seven right now, that's better than you. At fifteen, you're going to be at another level than he is. So like just trying to like slowly integrate that into them so they understand. And we try to stay off his iPads as much as we can. But you know, vacations like go ahead, take that thing. Yeah, yeah, I need a break, I need a break.

02:25:53
Speaker 4: Yeah.

02:25:55
Speaker 5: Is there anything from your childhood that you remember that you don't necessarily you want to do it differently with your kids?

02:26:05
Speaker 1: Not necessarily. One thing I'll say is I was very, very fortunate enough. My Pops was in my life from day one, and like he gave me a perfect example of like like what it meant to be a man and provide for your family. He worked fourteen hours a day and a factory building transmissions at Denzo for you know, Nissan and Toyota and all these companies, right, and like he would have to teach people that were coming in like their job because he knew it so well. But he got like no, I wouldn't say black ball, but like he didn't have the educational background because he was only a high school graduate graduate that the college graduates would you know, catapult him and he had to like report to them, but he had to teach them how to do their job. So but also he would come home after fourteen hour shifts and he would be the one taking me to practice and being one of my coaches or cutting grass at the house. He just I saw as an example a worth ethic that you know, was instilled in me just by watching him.

02:27:17
Speaker 4: You know.

02:27:17
Speaker 1: He always told me that if I wasn't out there working, that somebody just as good as me was working. So he always dropped these little nuggets on me throughout my childhood that that I think helped me. So I just tried to do that with my kids too, not like forcefully doing it, but just like I know they're listening and maybe they don't, you know, they're not hearing everything, but I'm trying to. I'm trying to help them along their life.

02:27:41
Speaker 4: Yeah. I love that, And that's awesome. Your dad sounds awesome.

02:27:44
Speaker 1: Yeah he's the man, He's the man. Shout out. Yeah, yeah, definitely definitely always visit. Yeah, he's done a row. He's up here all the time.

02:27:53
Speaker 4: So should we do twist the question, Mitch, twist the question. Do we want to bring up the ad that's obviously going to be there when this episode comes out?

02:28:05
Speaker 5: Do we even need the the script?

02:28:08

02:28:41
Speaker 2: I'm trying to try to pick between two. I texted my one group chat like, hey, I need something. Okay, they did not deliver.

02:28:51
Speaker 5: We'll just go These are usually terrible, terrible.

02:28:55
Speaker 4: Somebody else other people have been on a good run. That's came out of Mitch's mouth with your twisted questions.

02:29:02
Speaker 2: We'll go with this one from my buddy Connor. Would you rather have like always your fingers be like cheeto, dusty, sticky, like just dirty oily, or permanent like swamp ass, like skid marks in your in your underwear.

02:29:16
Speaker 1: All the time. Come on, what are we doing?

02:29:18
Speaker 5: Thats right?

02:29:19
Speaker 4: This is it?

02:29:20
Speaker 1: These are the twisted question we try to Did you rather have dicks for fingers or a dick for a nose?

02:29:26
Speaker 4: Come on?

02:29:27
Speaker 5: Man?

02:29:27
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's a great that was just as good.

02:29:29
Speaker 1: I guess why did I just like think I was like this, Yeah, that's crazy. I don't know why.

02:29:37
Speaker 2: That was.

02:29:39
Speaker 4: Just your dick. Fingers get hard, they always stay flaccid.

02:29:45
Speaker 5: Let's say, you know, let's say you can have five orgasms that once. I'm going fingers for sure, fingers and and put some cheeto on them. Put some cheeto? Can you get this off my finger?

02:29:57
Speaker 1: The question is are you gonna Are you gonna lick the cheeto off your fingers? Now?

02:30:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the thing too. Yes, I think if I'm if I'm sol dolle on what I mean, if you're so do ribs? You know what I mean?

02:30:07
Speaker 5: I got to finish it off, catch a little.

02:30:09
Speaker 4: Whoa you turn it. You remember like turn twelve thirteen and realizing you can do it yourself, find out for the first time. And then you heard that thing about Marilyn Manson.

02:30:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, we took a ribout so we could suck his own piece. And then next thing, you know, your your your knees up by your head, trying.

02:30:26
Speaker 4: In the in the bathroom on the floor. Come on, man, you're lying. I this is a place.

02:30:31
Speaker 1: This is no wait, wait a minute, wait a minute. This is a real thing. This is a real thing. And Kevin Hart just talked about it in the Rows. That is why is there such a cultural difference when we talk about like.

02:30:41
Speaker 5: White people seven black people say yeah, like the joke, feel that like it's a real thing, Like it's.

02:30:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, dick jokes do go hard with white white dudes. Yeah, blacks always just stop playing. You play too much.

02:30:52
Speaker 5: And and Taylor and I are on the opposite end of the spectrum on this. But the one in the locker room that I would always bring around is like, would you rather suck a dig or take it in the ass. And it felt like the black dudes would always say give head, and my dudes were more taking the end.

02:31:06
Speaker 1: Nobody was answering this question.

02:31:07
Speaker 4: I promise, bro, you couldn't get out of the way. You're getting their stretchers nowhere for you. I'm about to give you this question, gun your head. You have to pick one.

02:31:16
Speaker 5: Obviously, this isn't You're not in the moment. You're thinking like, this isn't gonna be on a podcast night before a game, all the boys are kind of stretching, rolling out, hanging out. Guys were answering.

02:31:29
Speaker 4: Yeah.

02:31:30
Speaker 5: Preston Smith, a teammate of yours, Bad Buddy Baller, Bad Buddy Baller, he uh we I had him corner doing it one time. He would not answer. I'm like, hey, you have to answer, and he called his mom to get the answer. This one was this, I set that up wrong. I also said like, if not your your family dies, like you get killed. He's like, I'm telling you right now, I'm killing my entire family or I'm killing my mom. And he's like, I'm calling my man. She said you better not suck that.

02:32:00
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you better put a gun.

02:32:02
Speaker 4: On my He's like, see, I tried telling you I love you you Oh my god. So I guess we're not answering these questions.

02:32:15
Speaker 1: He's getting real twisted.

02:32:19
Speaker 5: It gets a little awkward with the twisted question.

02:32:21
Speaker 4: I mean, I'll do I'm doing Dick's for fingers just quickly. If I could just get my answer out.

02:32:24
Speaker 5: Just combined both Dix's fingers. Put the cheeto dust on my on my penises.

02:32:30
Speaker 4: See, I don't know. I think I might take the swamp ass over the dust.

02:32:34
Speaker 1: No, I'm taking the dust.

02:32:35
Speaker 5: He even said skid marks and stuff too.

02:32:37
Speaker 4: Yeah, just always a sweat because I got a little swamp pass right now. Just it's getting a little hot on this bus.

02:32:42
Speaker 5: If you don't know, you kind of just it feels like you probably always have, kind of like a shark.

02:32:46
Speaker 4: It's a little but uncomfortable. But I don't know, pretty often when you have like honey on your fingers and you just I hate I hate that feeling. Number one hates a terrible question. It is a terrible question. We have to Yeah, I feel bad for Twisted Tea. They paid good money to sponsor this segment, and there were any questions like that. That's been the worst one I've had in maybe a month, okay, four weeks strong.

02:33:09
Speaker 1: Mitch, Yeah, thank you thank you for that. Thank you for choosing me to have.

02:33:12
Speaker 4: The worst of the year. That's crazy. Hey we deal with here, what that sort of accountability? Yeah, you know, but it's been good, has it it?

02:33:21
Speaker 5: I mean, looked at me, shaved his face, he looks insane.

02:33:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, you gotta bring your beer back, bro, because I'm keeping it for the summer, and I doubt he'll keep it for the summer.

02:33:28
Speaker 5: Bro. This has been a phenomenal podcast.

02:33:30
Speaker 4: Yeah.

02:33:30
Speaker 1: I appreciate you, Bro, I appreciate you all having me.

02:33:32
Speaker 4: Man, it took a while turn at the end, it did it.

02:33:36
Speaker 1: Okay, it got a little twisted, got a little turbulence.

02:34:20
Speaker 5: What are you interested in outside of ball establishing next twenty years?

02:34:24
Speaker 1: Like?

02:34:24
Speaker 4: What are things that I love?

02:34:27
Speaker 1: I love the business of sports, I love, uh, the game obviously, I'm starting to dabble into the broadcasting thing, just getting a little feel for it. I don't know, you know, investing like that's that's a big piece of life for me. And when I say that, in some different companies and different things. So I'm just trying to find that next facet specs. Yeah, it gets sparks interest. So I'm playing seeds right now, seeing what grows.

02:34:59
Speaker 5: Any interest in the podcast game.

02:35:02
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know enough about it. I mean, I enjoyed this today, but you know, I don't know. I'm not opposed to it, but I'm you know, I just.

02:35:09
Speaker 5: Heard you mentioned the broadcasting says I if you want to be a little buttoned up.

02:35:12
Speaker 1: Or if you want to kick back, and I'm I'm open, I can button up. I can I can keep a relaxed like this.

02:35:19
Speaker 4: Yeah. Range, Yeah, he's got Range.

02:35:21
Speaker 1: I mean, we'll see, we'll see. I'm not I'm here, like I said, playing seas. We'll see what happens.

02:35:25
Speaker 4: All right, Speaking of Range, who's a better actor? Will Smith or Denzel Washington?

02:35:29
Speaker 1: Denzel Denzel Denzel.

02:35:32
Speaker 4: As far as Range goes, as far as Range goes, Okay, well all right, well, yeah, I give it to Will. I give it to Will because I think Will does a better job with like comedy, and then I think Denzel is a better serious actor. I think the stuff that Denzel's and I like more than what I've seen Willing. But as far as Range goes, I'm going Will over Denzel. I can go wrong with phenomenal actors both. Yeah, once more physical than the other. You have to watch somebody for the rest of your Denzel better movies, better quality, better movies.

02:36:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you seen John Q.

02:36:07
Speaker 5: Remember the Titans.

02:36:09
Speaker 4: I think hits dif from being a father for the time. Yeah, a third callback.

02:36:14
Speaker 5: Even the uh what are the ones he's been doing, the action ones, Equalizer, Equalizer?

02:36:19
Speaker 4: I have seen what was he in with Jared Leto. There was a movie came out in Netflix where there.

02:36:26
Speaker 5: He's like a cop that Denzel's in it.

02:36:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, Denzel's in it, the dude that placed Freddie Mercury's in it. And then Jared leto is like the suspect. Oh, I think I know what you're talking about. New movie. It's on Netflix. Yeah, with Jared leto is like the.

02:36:43
Speaker 5: He's like the killer.

02:36:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, or it could be the killer. Yeah, yea, yeah, I know you're talking about but yeah, he's solid in that too. All right, let's wrap this thing up.
