CBS Sports Nate Burlson will stop by, as will Rick Neuheisel. Rick's got a college football song for us, as promised. So Monday night game Niners at the Colts, your phone calls Operator Tyler sitting by eight seven seven three DP show, and there is still time for you to vote on the most valuable and least valuable dan At. Go to Danpatrick dot com tabulating the votes, and we will close the ballot box tomorrow at eleven am Eastern to make the big announcement. Who is the most valuable? There we go and least valuable? Dan At? What happened to my drum roll? No, I'm sorry, there you go. That's not exactly a drum roll. All right, we have a poll question play of the day, Out of the day, all of that forthcoming, and we'll recap the college football look ahead to the matchups with Rick Neuheisel coming up a little bit later on. You know, it's just math. When you get to the NFL. Your opinion, my opinion, our opinions, they don't matter. I mean, it's fun in September and October. All that team's not good. All that team is going to be great. That team's a super Bowl contender, he's an MVP. It doesn't matter. I mean, it all plays out. So your opinion of the Steelers, it doesn't matter. They won the game controversial, Okay, should Detroit have won that game? But they didn't, So it doesn't matter. You don't get points. There's no stylized points. How many did you win by? You won the game. That's all it's about. It's survive and move on. So when we talk about, man, that team's really good or that team's not really good. Oh, they're going to have to show me in the playoffs. Like Jacksonville. Jacksonville had an unbelievable win and it wasn't a fluke. They were the better team. And I'm still not convinced that they're that good. But it doesn't matter. They will show us how good they are. The Packers did everything they could possibly do to lose that game against the Bears. I don't know how good the Bears are, but it doesn't matter. They won the game and back to Jacksonville, they went on the road and beat a great Denver defense. Okay, Now, if I said who do you believe in more? The Texans who I believe have won seven in a row in the same division with Jacksonville or Jacksonville, you're probably going to take the Texans. We've seen them more recently, be better later in the season and get to the playoffs. What Trevor Lawrence has done supposed to be great. He's not Tyler Shuck. He's Trevor Lawrence. He's the number one pick in the draft. But he finally got coached up. That's really the difference here. Just like Liam Cohen did with Baker Mayfield in Tampa, he's coaching up Trevor Lawrence. Now you're seeing what he's supposed to be. He didn't have good coaching before this. He does now and you can see the big difference. But what are you going to say, Let me see what you do in the playoffs? Like Seattle. I don't know how good Seattle is, but they've won five in a row. They've played great. So once again, you don't get stylized points here. It's just math. You just win and move on. And I think that's the amazing part of all of this. We had Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers Super Bowl contender and MVP that's gone. Do you believe in the Carolina Panthers. It doesn't matter if I do or not. If you win, that's the validation and I think that's the amazing part of all of this. And remember this going into next season, you have the Bears, Niners, Seahawks, and Patriots all clinched playoffs spots. They missed the postseason last year. So we're on a streak of thirty six consecutive seasons. At least four teams each season have qualified for the playoffs after failing to make the postseason the year before. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America. Every year there's going to be so next year there's going to be four teams that didn't make the playoffs that will make the play at least four. Chicago and New England both finished last in their respective divisions clinched playoff spots. So twenty seven of the last thirty years, at least one team has made the playoffs the season after finishing last or tied for last in their division. The NFL loves this. The NFL is giving you hope every year you can actually go into a season and have hope. There's only a couple of teams where you go no I don't think so. Now baseball, I mean over half the field, basketball, over half the field, no chance. But in football you have a chance to make the playoffs. You can go from worse to first. And you see that for thirty six consecutive years, four teams at least four teams not in the playoffs in the playoffs the following season seton what's poll questioned today, We're gonna.

00:07:00
Speaker 3: Go with one here from PAULI skewing negative. Ooh wow odd on a Monday right out of the game.

00:07:06
Speaker 2: We don't usually do that.

00:07:08
Speaker 3: It's the playoff, current playoff team you have the least faith in.

00:07:12
Speaker 2: Okay, do we have nominees? We do?

00:07:16
Speaker 3: And it's actually split between college football and the NFL Alabama Miami Hurricanes.

00:07:23
Speaker 2: Why don't we do? Why don't we do NFL? One one hour in college football?

00:07:27
Speaker 3: The other hour go double up on the negativity?

00:07:30
Speaker 2: I guess yeah, but.

00:07:32
Speaker 4: A double negative is a positive.

00:07:33
Speaker 2: It is the season. As somebody said to me over the weekend, you know, when you take the lesser of two evils, it's still evil. I'm like, did you throw them out of your house?

00:07:45
Speaker 5: No?

00:07:45
Speaker 2: I didn't, No, I didn't. You know, Hey, I think the Christmas party went off really without any issues, any no snap foos. I will say best dressed family, not even close, not even close. Shaye and Irving and his wife and three daughters. They look like they were right out of a catalog. It was picture day for the sha Shaye and his daughter and all three daughters. One of the daughters broke open the pinata so she gets her name on a plaque. Oh, it was good times, great oldies. Got everybody out of there by around eight o'clock. Party ended at six. He had stragglers and we had one person who stayed until midnight. He wouldn't go and he's a friend of the family. But they started watching Father of the Bride. I know, so my wife, my daughter, no I want, I won't watch it. I will not watch it. I just said, because my daughter goes, you should watch it before I get married. I go, hun, I'm gonna be Father of the Bride. I don't need to watch the movie. Okay, she goes, I don't know you and Steve Martin, I go, no hunt. So they all watched, and you know, they're all crying, and uh so I said, I'm going to bed, but we pulled it off. We had the Christmas holiday party and everything I think went, Oh, you know what I forgot? Todd? Didn't you have a bet with Marcus in Jacksonville? Who joins us? Now? Hi Marcus, Good morning Dan. How's your morning going great? You know, for those who didn't hear your bet with Todd, could you maybe recap that for us?

00:09:46
Speaker 5: Well, I'm happy you asked, Dan, because I've got three things for you this morning. I've got some receipts, I've got a limerick, and unlike the Denver Broncos, I've got a franchise quarterback.

00:09:56
Speaker 2: Ah, what is that? Okay, Marcus? Do we have Marcus's prediction? Okay, let's play that from last week? He came in firing from both barrels. Here we go, uh Marcus and Jacksonville. Hi Marcus, Good morning Dan. I've got a pie of the face vet for Pristy.

00:10:15
Speaker 6: Here.

00:10:15
Speaker 5: The Jacksonville Jaguars, My Jacksonville Jaguars are going into Denver to beat the Broncos ass on Sunday. Now, wow, I'm gonna spot him. I'm gonna spot him thirteen points because we're winning by at least two touchdowns and we're gonna win the Super Bowl.

00:10:30
Speaker 2: I'll think it off there.

00:10:33
Speaker 7: Unbelievable. He's got the Jaguars winning by two touchdowns in Denver.

00:10:36
Speaker 2: He's given you thirteen points.

00:10:39
Speaker 8: I would have probably taken that as a straight up win for Denver, So I will totally go in with that.

00:10:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't blame you about a round of applause for Marcus, Marcus and Jacksonville. They won by fourteen?

00:10:50
Speaker 7: Is that? Marcus and Jacksonville? Marcus from the Caesars Sports book?

00:10:53
Speaker 2: Oh here we go yet, Todd I walk in. Marcus. First thing he says is something something he knew, something I said. He knew your team wasn't as good as Jacksonville.

00:11:02
Speaker 8: Apparently confidently say the Jaguars are going to win in Denver, a team that's won fifteen straight home games and on our eleven game winning streak, and that they would win, specifically by fourteen and.

00:11:12
Speaker 7: The final score was thirty four to twenty is ridiculous.

00:11:14
Speaker 2: Okay, And you're gonna get a pie to the face today, Yes, okay, ridiculous Marcus. Anything else you'd like.

00:11:20
Speaker 5: To add, Yeah, here's my limerick about the game.

00:11:23
Speaker 6: Yesterday.

00:11:24
Speaker 5: They said that the Jaguars they'd mint, but Trevor did not even flinch. With spirals on fire, he climbed even higher. Now welcome the long waited Prince.

00:11:35
Speaker 2: Oh, the Prince takes down the Broncos. Well, Marcus, thank you and yeah pull.

00:11:46
Speaker 4: After this pie is served to Todd, what about a future's bet of who goes further?

00:11:51
Speaker 2: Your thoughts? Well, I got to ask Todd because he thinks Marcus knows something. Todd, would you be willing to take a another bet with Marcus who goes further in the playoffs?

00:12:03
Speaker 7: Is this a double or nothing?

00:12:06
Speaker 2: And he called the shot, so this has to be post pie bet.

00:12:10
Speaker 7: Well, we can also go with the fact that he said the jack was going to win the Super Bowl? Does he want to do that?

00:12:14
Speaker 8: Is the bet that the Jaguars versus the field to win the Super Bowl?

00:12:19
Speaker 2: I think it'd be fun. How about we just do it where Broncos Jags, who goes further? And then if you want to bet him again if Jacksonville goes further if they win the Super.

00:12:28
Speaker 7: I'm a sucker for content, you know.

00:12:31
Speaker 5: That.

00:12:31
Speaker 8: It seems like I'm kind of in a corner on that. So yeah, I think the Denvers should go President of the jaguarn't the players.

00:12:36
Speaker 2: All right, So Marcus, you have a bet who goes further in the playoffs between Jacksonville and Denver.

00:12:43
Speaker 5: Or when the Jaguars win the Super Bowl. Todd could just write me a nice memrick back.

00:12:47
Speaker 2: Okay, if if Jacksonville wins the super Bowl, then.

00:12:52
Speaker 7: If the Jackuars win the Super Bowl the very least.

00:12:54
Speaker 2: All right, Well, thank you, Marcus. That was quite a call. He said they would win by least to touchdowns and he gave you thirteen points at home.

00:13:02
Speaker 7: He nailed it exactly, thirty four to twenty. It's ridiculous.

00:13:05
Speaker 2: He believes he believes in Jacksonville. But you know, Jacksonville's playing this victim game like nobody believed in us. No, no, we would have no reason to believe in you.

00:13:16
Speaker 5: You know.

00:13:16
Speaker 2: It's it's not like, oh, you did this one year and then you took a year off. It's you haven't really done anything.

00:13:25
Speaker 6: Now.

00:13:25
Speaker 2: Granted it's been a mess, coaching carousel, the urban mired debacle, but Trevor Lawrence is supposed to be great. Okay, then be great, but everybody is going to what feels like we still want to see what happens has Jacksonville clinched a playoff spot. I don't think they have technically no. Okay, yeah, Pauline.

00:13:48
Speaker 4: But when the Jacksonville Jaguars players say nobody believed in US, it's actually correct, yes, because it's it's still going on. If a Bill's player said, you know what America is against US, nobody believed in US, it's not true.

00:14:00
Speaker 2: Like I don't believe in the Ravens, and there's reason to not believe in the Ravens, by the way, and bad loss. All I could see Derrick Henry just stand on thost sidelines. I kept going, is he a decoy?

00:14:15
Speaker 6: Like?

00:14:16
Speaker 2: Is the defense gonna go where is Derek? And all of a sudden, you're gonna run a play and go, ah, he's right over there on the sidelines. Here's what we're gonna do. Okay, they prepared for him all week. We're gonna take him out of the game.

00:14:28
Speaker 4: Man, what Yeah, he had already run for one twenty eight.

00:14:34
Speaker 2: John Harball maybe going to the Hall of Fame. But there are times, you know, when you have coaches and they do things unless he was hurt, unless something else, this is you know, in play. I was kind of surprised at that. I hope Joe Burrow is now having fun and certainly looked like he did against the Dolphins there. So there's a few games to recap. We'll get to your phone calls coming up eight seven to seven three DP show address DP at Danpatrick dot com Twitter handle a TP show. Todd will get a pie to the face at the end of the show. And yes, I was supposed to get a pie to the face on Friday. And it's not my fault. Todd made the mistake. You were confused. You did not. You did not. Your clock management was horrible, horrible.

00:15:21
Speaker 8: You do not weasel out of anything. You think you took your glasses off your ear did You had all the body language as if someone was gonna ge hit with a pie, and I lost track of time, and I'm talking and they're begging me to hit you at the pie, and I think they're tricking me into hitting you prematurely, and I just totally didn't do it on time and anything else.

00:15:37
Speaker 2: Social media is all over me. I'm like, I didn't do anything. We had our cameraman saying all right, thirty second, yelling out thirty seconds, ten seconds, hit him Todd hit him and I closed my eyes and I'm like, took off my glasses, go ahead blast me, And you whiffed. You froze in the moment.

00:15:55
Speaker 6: Howard, you weaseled out of it.

00:15:56
Speaker 7: You was supposed to hit with a pie?

00:15:57
Speaker 3: Man, Yes, Seaton, that's how backwards we've actually got Todd twisted up. That's how just what and how much of a knot in a pretzel? We have his brain that even when we're like trying to help him, he's like.

00:16:08
Speaker 2: No, they're messing with me.

00:16:10
Speaker 3: Then something wants to be as they're obviously doing something to me.

00:16:16
Speaker 2: I don't know who is going to hit you in the face with the pie today, but I guarantee you their clock management will be really good.

00:16:24
Speaker 7: Will happen actually on them.

00:16:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, So if you want to pick whoever is going to hit you in the face, we'll make sure that they they hit you.

00:16:32
Speaker 7: Brg.

00:16:33
Speaker 2: It could be anybody, anybody you want, Todd.

00:16:36
Speaker 3: We should try in twenty twenty six, we should find a way to have the dogs hit us with pies that would actually be Emmy worthy.

00:16:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, let's take a break. Ross Tucker will join us to recap the weekend your phone calls will get to those best and words to the weekend. We're back after this on The Dan Patrick Show.

00:16:54
Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six AMC on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

00:17:03
Speaker 2: Paully Fools Go here with Tony Foodsco.

00:17:06
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:17:06
Speaker 9: As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning Polly and Toni Foosco Show. Yeah, but instead of us telling you how great we are, here's how Dan Packrick described us when he came on our show.

00:17:16
Speaker 2: Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

00:17:19
Speaker 1: What what are you doing interrupting our promo? Yeah, you wasn't talking about you. You took those clips totally of context.

00:17:26
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you out and beat you.

00:17:30
Speaker 1: Let me put this into context. Shut up.

00:17:33
Speaker 9: Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Toni Fusco Show on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:17:39
Speaker 5: Yea.

00:17:42
Speaker 2: People will be talking lauding the Jags. Oh my god, they're great. I'm gonna wait. I'm gonna wait until the postseason. I'm sorry, I'm gonna wait.

00:17:52
Speaker 3: Yes, he's sensing a huge movement to jump on that bandwid I don't think I'm not quite picking up on those same vibes.

00:17:58
Speaker 2: I gotta admit, if I say, who do you believe in? More Broncos, Jaggs, Texans? You can even throw the Patriots in there. I'm gonna I have a pretty good idea where the Jags are in that. Yes, I think I think so too. We don't hand out awards for our favorite guests, but this guy would be high on the list in my opinion. He's Ross Tucker, CBS Sports, west Wood One, and he did Jet Saints yesterday. He'll be on the call for the Niners Colts tonight on west Wood One. Round of applause for a great year for Ross.

00:18:33
Speaker 6: Thank you, Thank you guys for having me so much. I really appreciate.

00:18:36
Speaker 10: I was wondering if you had an award for best guests, and I was curious where I might fit in.

00:18:43
Speaker 2: Should we start one where we put maybe our top five or six people who join us all the time, And maybe we'll do that. But you're gonna be up against Reggie Miller. I mean, there's gonna be a few people in there, Steve Young, I mean there's I don't know, do you want that?

00:19:01
Speaker 6: Well, you know how I feel about it, Dan.

00:19:04
Speaker 10: If I'm going to come in first, I think it's a great idea. If I'm not going to come in first, I just don't think it's really necessary.

00:19:13
Speaker 6: Let me be first in my own big head. Okay, let me let me be first in my own big head.

00:19:18
Speaker 10: I'll just assume, based on the feedback I get from your great listeners.

00:19:22
Speaker 6: That I'm that I'm number one.

00:19:23
Speaker 10: They don't need to have an official vote and ruin my ruin my expectations.

00:19:29
Speaker 2: Okay, If I said, who do you believe in the most? And I put those teams up there, so the Texans, Jags, Broncos, Patriots, Who's first?

00:19:42
Speaker 6: Right now? I would say the Jacksonville Jaguars.

00:19:46
Speaker 10: And I know you guys said last, and I know you're not believing him.

00:19:50
Speaker 6: They are really good.

00:19:51
Speaker 10: I mean I watched them a lot, because last week I did Jets Jags. Okay, think about this for a second. In a five game stretch, Trevor Lawrence didn't have to play in the end of the fourth quarter, and four of those five these are NFL games. This is NFL teams.

00:20:12
Speaker 6: This is not a.

00:20:13
Speaker 10: Power for versus a group of five or whatever anybody wants to talk about. These are NFL teams where four games out of five the Jags were able to put Nick Mullins in the game. Then you go out to Denver and you dominate the Broncos, like the Jaguars did, their offensive lines playing very well. This is the best we've ever seen Trevor Lawrence play. Their weapons are a lot better than people realize. Parker Washington can play, Brenton Strams, the tight end can play. They're like Jacoby Myers is kind of like that guy that's always been just okay, but people don't like. The Jaguars are sort of that team Dan that has a bunch of underrated, underappreciated, under the radar guys that are a lot better than people realize because they don't play a little marquee games. Even yesterday, Okay, they're playing the team with the number one seed. They're playing the you know, the big bad Denver Broncos. That was a four h five game that wasn't the featured Tom Brady, you know Kevin Burkhart game that went to the Steelers Lions, that have the Jaguars played. I think the Jaguars played the Chiefs like in Week four on Monday Night. That might have been their only primetime game the whole year. Defensively, they got a bunch of guys and as you can tell, and I noticed this last week when I was there, they have an immense chip on their shoulder. Liam Cohen, he's from Rhode Island. Okay, he's got that New Englander in him. He takes offence to every He doesn't discriminate, he just takes offense to everything. He even drops the line about Yeah. I mean for a small market team like us, it wasn't even a knock by Sean Payton.

00:21:52
Speaker 6: You know.

00:21:52
Speaker 10: Sean Payton was just being honest and realistic. So they'll take any little edge they can. And I know people say, does that really make a difference, Yeah, it does. It just stokes your fire a little bit more. Every day is not only about the game, It's about every day during the week, giving you the edge to.

00:22:11
Speaker 6: Prep just a little bit harder. Yeah.

00:22:13
Speaker 2: And I'm not rooting against the Jags. I want their fan base to know it doesn't I'm just saying I got to wait to see it. Happen. Same thing with the Ravens. You know, I'm Lamar Jackson. Let me see what you do in the postseason. I mean the Steelers, I don't know how good they are. I know when you get to the postseason, you get in and you lose. So I would like to see a little more from you. I want to see Drake May and the Patriots in the playoffs in a big moment there. I mean, I think that's just natural reasoning with a lot of these teams. Show me. We said this before. I want to see what happens with Justin Herbert in a big moment. Yeah, you can throw for four thousand yards. All of those things are great. We're a bottom line sports society.

00:23:01
Speaker 6: Well I got news for you. I got news for you.

00:23:03
Speaker 10: Though Dan Mahomes is not making the playoffs, we know that Burrow's not making the playoffs. We know that it looks highly unlikely Lamar Jackson is going to make the playoffs. So think about that. Before the year, if we did any quarterback rankings, any quarterback discussions, there was a clear top four.

00:23:23
Speaker 6: There was a clear elite group.

00:23:25
Speaker 10: And we talk about how it's by far the most important position in the sport and all that three of the four guys that are clearly coming into the year the best of the best quarterbacks, three of the four are not going to the playoffs. I don't think that the Ravens are going, which, by the way, means Josh Allen.

00:23:45
Speaker 6: The time is yours, bro, I mean, it is your time.

00:23:48
Speaker 2: Can there be more pressure on Josh Allen to finally get to a Super Bowl?

00:23:53
Speaker 10: Yes, there's even more because those other guys aren't in it.

00:23:57
Speaker 6: There's even more.

00:23:58
Speaker 10: But the point I was gonna make a lot of those teams you just mentioned, right, Jacksonville or Herbert or you know, the Steelers. Somebody has to win these games, Dre. I mean a lot of these teams are gonna be playing against each other. I mean, these are the teams in the playoffs. So you just named three of the seventeen that are gonna be in the playoffs and the AFC. I mean, I guess all three of them could lose the first round. But somebody has to win these games. We have to start to believe in somebody because Malmes he's not coming.

00:24:26
Speaker 2: I didn't understand. Now, I understand the call in the Lions Steelers game that you know, was pass interference offensive pass interference? If you want to call that, you call that, But the fact that the play look like it was still alive. If there's no pass interference, Now I'm going to play the call here and then I'm gonna come to you because I have a couple of problems here, Marvin. Play that the last play there in the Lions game.

00:24:53
Speaker 11: Fourth and goal for the Lions from the nine ball game on the line right here. They need the end zone for the win. Jared leans in. There's the snap on fourth down, Jared back, Jared stepping up. Jared look, he throwing end zone. It is clot by Amen ras Shy at the end zone. He flips it back to Golf who talked it to the end zone for the touchdown.

00:25:15
Speaker 2: There's a flag that came.

00:25:17
Speaker 7: In to flags.

00:25:19
Speaker 6: Did they rule him down?

00:25:20
Speaker 12: Are they going to say pass interference against dom and Raw? There's no time left on the clock. Here comes Carl Scheffers. The officials have finally broken. We're gonna get call right here. Is this game over or not?

00:25:31
Speaker 6: Pittsburgh's staying on the field.

00:25:32
Speaker 1: But really on the field.

00:25:33
Speaker 2: There is a touchdown.

00:25:34
Speaker 13: However, Fagite number fourteen on the offense.

00:25:40
Speaker 5: My rule that penalty is not enforced and there is no replay, the game is over.

00:25:47
Speaker 1: Wow, there is no touchdown.

00:25:50
Speaker 2: Okay, talk about a bait and switch. That is embarrassing for the official. It's a touchdown, but there's pass interference. There is no touchdown. Game over, good night and drive home safely. How could you possibly say it's a touchdown in Detroit and then say, but there was past interference, no touchdown.

00:26:18
Speaker 10: I think Dan he should have sold it harder and really pulled off a grinch move there.

00:26:25
Speaker 6: Jeffers should have been like, the ruling on the field is touchdown Detroit, except unfortunately there's a penalty. Of games over. You guys lost the yet.

00:26:35
Speaker 2: But I wonder if the whistle because they clearly had stopped I'm on Ross Saint Brown his forward progress, right. I don't know if a whistle, but let's say there's no pass interference, would they I guess they would have allowed that touchdown because he said that it's a touchdown except for there was past interference.

00:26:54
Speaker 10: Absolutely they would have allowed it, which would have been incredible. I mean, I'm in raw of all that was about blatant a passterference. I don't know what he was doing. He went right up to the guy and just two hands shoved him. Probably didn't need to do it, but he did. But can you imagine if Jared goff on a pitch back scored the touchdown diving into the end zone for the Lions to be able to go to the playoffs, and that that's how that game had ended.

00:27:20
Speaker 6: But you have to call it a touchdown, Dan. If you're gonna call a two point.

00:27:24
Speaker 10: Conversion in the Seattle Rams game where Sharbonage just walks over and picks up the ball that's in the end zone, I gotta be honestly, I had much more of a problem with that. That to me should not have been two points for the Seahawks. The whistle blue in that one, and that one the whistle blew. In my opinion, as a player, once the whistle blows, nothing after that should count. Because what would have happened if the whistle blue and Sharbonage just walking over to pick the ball up. Am I allowed to just come in and just crack him?

00:27:57
Speaker 6: No? I would have been penalized.

00:27:59
Speaker 10: So if I'm if Sharpenne's going to score the two point play, but if I came over and just annihilate him, they would throw a penalty on me. Then you can't say the two point conversion counts. I had a real problem with Thursday night, way worse than Cheffer's in that game.

00:28:15
Speaker 2: Yesterday, he's Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood one. He'll be on the call for the Niners and the Colts on Westwood one. What is DK Metcalf doing with the fan? His team is winning. He's probably going to be suspended for a game you make contact with the I know fans say a lot of bad things, negative things, but you can't. You can't take matters into your own hands. What do you think the NFL does.

00:28:46
Speaker 10: I think that they probably will suspend him because this is a lot different than the fan initiating physical contact, or the fan, you know, somehow coming on the field or anything like that. DK Metcalf went all the way over into the stands. It wasn't like the guy was right behind him. I mean that was a good ten yards behind him, obviously. Whatever the guy said. The guy told the Detroit Free Press that he called DK by his real name.

00:29:17
Speaker 6: I don't know.

00:29:17
Speaker 10: It's whatever the D is and the K is and I guess I didn't know that, but now evidently DK does not like that. By the way, now every defensive back knows the DK does not like if you call him by his real first name. But you can't do that. You cannot walk over. I feel very strongly when fans cross over the line that that's very different to me.

00:29:40
Speaker 5: This.

00:29:40
Speaker 10: You're allowed to say whatever you want to say from the stands. You're allowed to say whatever you want to say, and a player cannot go over there and initiate anything, especially putting their hands on them.

00:29:50
Speaker 6: I think the NFL has to come down on him hard.

00:29:53
Speaker 2: Right or wrong. Your game tonight, Explain to me how the Niners are doing this year.

00:30:02
Speaker 6: They are a really very well coached team.

00:30:06
Speaker 2: I mean, this might be Kyle Shanahan's best coaching that he's done, and nobody's going to talk about it when you lose your two best defensive players. Ayukizan no show, Deebo's gone. I mean, you had Mac Jones for a while. Now perty in the most competitive division in football.

00:30:23
Speaker 10: It's incredible. You're right, it might be Kyle Shanahan's best coaching job. You know, they have sixteen sacks. That's by far the worst in the NFL. Everybody else has at least twenty two. I'll give Sala.

00:30:36
Speaker 2: Miles Garrett has more sacks than the Niners.

00:30:40
Speaker 10: Miles Garrett has six more sacks than the Niners.

00:30:43
Speaker 6: It's unbelievable. I'll give Sala a lot.

00:30:45
Speaker 10: Of credit because you lose two of the top twenty players in football on defense, and he still has had a couple of games where they gave up less than ten points. We'll see what happens tonight. My guess is, Dan, they'll drop eight in coverage and pack it up and in and force Philip Rivers to try to have to fit the ball in tight windows or throw it deep. But they're just very, very well coached both sides of the ball.

00:31:12
Speaker 6: The offense is a machine. Here's the other thing. It's crazy.

00:31:15
Speaker 10: Watch the game a night, Dan, and tell me that McCaffrey hasn't lost just a little.

00:31:21
Speaker 2: Yes, definitely, he's lost it.

00:31:23
Speaker 10: And the guy's gonna have two thousand yards from scrimmage. He's third in the NFL with over he's gonna have four hundred and eighteen touches. The last time somebody had over four hundred touches was McCaffrey had four oh weight in twenty nineteen.

00:31:39
Speaker 6: I'm in awe. Imagine this, Okay, imagine not being.

00:31:44
Speaker 10: The player you used to be and losing a step or half a step, and yet you go out and get an NFL football over four hundred times and have over two thousand yards. That guy coming off of the two injuries last year, that guy is an absolute warrior.

00:32:02
Speaker 6: I'm incredible. I'm like, he's one of those guys in my Hall of Fame that I'm in awe of. That he's able to do is the mental and physical toughness.

00:32:12
Speaker 2: Just like you.

00:32:14
Speaker 10: Just Hey, listen, I had to fly from New Orleans to through Chicago to Indianapolis to get here to call a game with unbelievable horror the night.

00:32:23
Speaker 6: I mean, you know, profile is encouraged. I know that.

00:32:26
Speaker 10: I don't know when the last episode they've done is. But I have to stay and I have to stay in a Marriott here and I just went to the M Lounge.

00:32:33
Speaker 6: Breakfast was delicious. It's not easy.

00:32:36
Speaker 2: Man, You're my hero. Thank you, buddy. Merry Christmas to you save travel.

00:32:42

00:33:31
Speaker 2: The iceman cometh.

00:33:33
Speaker 14: The iceman take it to forty six yard spirals to the end zone to DJ Moore.

00:33:41
Speaker 2: What a throw? What a catch? Bears Radio Network, Bud, you gotta give credit to the Green Bay Packers. You did everything you could possibly do to lose that game. 00:35:00
Speaker 3: Who or whom do you believe in least? The Alabama Crimson Tide or the Miami Hurricanes?

00:35:10
Speaker 2: Who or whom do you believe in least? I'm gonna i'mna say Miami again.

00:35:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, of course you're gonna say man right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so.

00:35:25
Speaker 2: I mean, you know, they did win at A and m defense is good. I'm just not sold on Carson Beck leading you to the Promised Land. But uh, Alabama gotta you gotta give him credit.

00:35:39
Speaker 6: Man.

00:35:39
Speaker 2: Social media was all over Alabama when it was seventeen to nothing. Oh Notre Dame should have been in there, and then all of a sudden they went quiet. And if you're Oklahoma and you're playing at home, you're up seventeen to nothing, then all of a sudden, your place, your punter forgets to punt, your quarterback throws a past pattern where the receiver, you know, miscommunication. The DV was the only one there, took it back for the touchdown, and momentum man to that shift and it never went back to Oklahoma, all right. A couple of phone calls in here, David in Ohio, Hi David, welcome back. What's on your mind?

00:36:28
Speaker 6: Hey Dan?

00:36:29
Speaker 15: Happy holidays you guys, and the Danet's best and worst of the weekend feelers beating the Detroit Lions and vaulting Paul's team into the playoffs. You're welcome, Paul. Worst of the weekend is DK Metcalf taking a swipe of that Detroit Lions fan uncalled for. There's no place in our sport for that, So thank you.

00:36:49
Speaker 2: All right, Hi you David Buddha in San Francisco, Hi Buddha.

00:36:56
Speaker 6: What up DP?

00:36:57
Speaker 13: Happy Monday boys, good John Tipps. Let's see well, DP, you and Ross just brought it up. But it is so wild to me that my hobbled Niners are in the position they're in. And I mean if we went tonight against old Man Rivers, we should be favored against Pauli Bears next week and then the final week. That's a nice sen meatball at home against the Sea Chickens. So excited about that. Best of the weekend, and shout out to Marcus and Jacksonville and Dan. Some of the shots of Sean Payton on the sidelines yesterday during the game were hilarious, like his facial expressions were like, uh oh, better call Mako because the Jaguars look legit, DP. And my favorite was Liam Cohen's comments out of the game about the smaller team market going up to the mile high and getting that wind. That was snarky.

00:37:45
Speaker 2: I like that.

00:37:46
Speaker 13: And worst of the weekend and the ending in Detroit, like you guys just talked about it. But I mean, like my big Mama says, that was embarrassed. I mean the rest looking confused out there, and also the chiefs Q b room man. What a fall that has taken down to the third stream quarterback.

00:38:05
Speaker 6: Not God.

00:38:09
Speaker 2: And CBS has got a show, you know, more replays like split screen. It took four minutes to decide what would happen on that final play. All you're doing is show in the refs and Jared Goff trying to get involved in the conversation, show the replay. I don't want to see officials going I don't know, I don't know, I don't know what about you, I don't know. I think it's a touchdown, but then it's past interference. All right, Well make sure you let people know. Don't say it's a touchdown and then come back and say no on second time, after further review, it's a touchdown that's called back because there was past interference on the play. Horrible, horrible, Yes.

00:38:54
Speaker 4: It reminded me of old days with that show American Idol and Ryan Seacrest, you are going home tonight, like he would like drag it out and pull the plug. I couldn't believe the ref said touchdown first.

00:39:06
Speaker 2: It's mind boggling, Yes, Doud.

00:39:11
Speaker 8: If we listen back to it, the official should have done exactly backwards to what he said.

00:39:14
Speaker 7: The last thing he says it think is there is no touchdown.

00:39:16
Speaker 8: You've got to make that clear first, and then go on to explain why there is no touchdown, especially in Detroit where everyone's gonna lose their minds celebrating it was a touchdown.

00:39:24
Speaker 2: You're not going to hear that it's not a touchdown. All you're gonna hear is it's a touchdown, and then you're not gonna hear. Yeah, but there was past interference game over. Oh man, talk about burying the lead. You know, when you're the official, it took you four minutes and then you screwed it up. Oh my goodness. All right, So new Pole question coming up next hour, we'll talk to Rick Neuheisel. Rick new Heisel promised a college football song for the holidays, will give you our best and worst of the weekend, and the popular analyst for CBS Sports Nate Burleson, will join us as well. Eight seven seven three DP Show And by the way, go to Danpatrick dot com you can place your vote for most Valuable and Least Valuable dan IT. I have not asked for any updates on who is leading or not leading. I'm going to be like Chris Faller is with the Heisman Trophy. I'm just gonna wait. I'll open up the envelope tomorrow and I'll make the announcement most Valuable, Least Valuable dan M and most Valuable BRG. Mario has a pie to the phase coming if his prediction is wrong on the BRG
