<v Speaker 1>Hey everybody, It's March thirty first, twenty twenty six. Holy smokes,
<v Speaker 1>we're at the end of March, but we're at the
<v Speaker 1>start of this podcast. Welcome to the Giant BombCast, Episode
<v Speaker 1>nine hundred and thirty four. I'm your host jan Oshoa
<v Speaker 1>joining me co captain of the ship Jeff grib Happy
<v Speaker 1>to be here.
<v Speaker 2>I am still constantly thinking about Brad Dwarf.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking about Brad Dwarf, He's jumping into all sorts of
<v Speaker 1>books and helping children, his children get onto the TV
<v Speaker 1>show the pit in record.
<v Speaker 3>Five dogs and a cat in this house and it's
<v Speaker 3>a blot.
<v Speaker 1>He's in a pit of animals. It's great speaking about animals.
<v Speaker 1>He's he's uh, he's got that dog in him, but
<v Speaker 1>not hot dogs. Never a hot dog, but that dog
<v Speaker 1>in him.
<v Speaker 4>Jeff Bacalar, my son betrayed me. He betrayed me. Fed
<v Speaker 4>up with this world, with this world.
<v Speaker 5>At the end of the millionaire segment, I came to
<v Speaker 5>find him sitting at a round table chowing down. So
<v Speaker 5>by the transit of property, the backlars have consumed one
<v Speaker 5>hot dog.
<v Speaker 3>Dating now I think he gets his own count.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, okay, that's easy. I'll just have him join this.
<v Speaker 1>He's a man now, he gets his own hot dog.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, this was his meat culture culture that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the hot dog is the meat bridge that binds
<v Speaker 1>all of us together going like that. Yeah, no, that's perfect.
<v Speaker 1>It's poetry. It's a poetry. And speaking about poetry, he
<v Speaker 1>hates it. He hates all sorts of literature, anything that
<v Speaker 1>helps improve anyone, whether that's uh, motivational quotes and fun memes,
<v Speaker 1>he hates it all because he's the bird boy of
<v Speaker 1>games media. My like manati.
<v Speaker 4>Oh, reading is the wok agenda.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, he's not reading that. Boys, we're back from
<v Speaker 1>packs East, right and are just going to preemptively say
<v Speaker 1>it's fun trip. It's a good trip, good time time.
<v Speaker 1>We had a lot of lobster rolls together. Some of
<v Speaker 1>us had multiple lobsterrolls.
<v Speaker 4>I had three. I had lobsterrolls for dinner pretty much
<v Speaker 4>every night. Every night.
<v Speaker 2>We basically did that the Nick Offerman thing of like,
<v Speaker 2>you might have mistook us when we say we wanted
<v Speaker 2>a like every lobster ll and you think we mean
<v Speaker 2>a lot. No, we want every lobster roll that you.
<v Speaker 3>Have at this table over ten.
<v Speaker 5>I think yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh my god, oh my god.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they almost accidentally brought two more to our table.
<v Speaker 4>They made extra they found at home for this.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm crazy. Him didn't order anything because he wasn't
<v Speaker 1>gonna stay the whole time. And then the waiter was like,
<v Speaker 1>I have two more lobsterles? Is it on this side
<v Speaker 1>of the table, And we're like, oh no. Then Michael
<v Speaker 1>laughter was like, oh shit, I should have just tooken it.
<v Speaker 4>I couldn't.
<v Speaker 1>I could have.
<v Speaker 4>I could eat two of those. They're they're they're nothing.
<v Speaker 1>Crazy, nothing crazy. Uh. Lovely trip shouts out to everyone
<v Speaker 1>if you visit us during either of the Millionaire panels
<v Speaker 1>or the blighting of Vinnie Caravella. Lovely Time shouts out
<v Speaker 1>to all y'all that said Hi wanted to take a picture,
<v Speaker 1>gave little trinkets and gifts. I'm still wowed that someone
<v Speaker 1>crocheted me. Is that the right verbiage? Evil Jan Beanie.
<v Speaker 1>It's really incredible. I didn't know about this. That's amazing.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, idea. Yeah. During the Tinder video game Tinder
<v Speaker 1>panel where I was U fist fighting a migraine, some
<v Speaker 1>Brie I believe her name was kindly walked up to
<v Speaker 1>the table, even though I looked like, uh, I was
<v Speaker 1>trying to evade and or Louise, I'll be both. Why
<v Speaker 1>not both?
<v Speaker 2>But I regret adding my children to the demo of
<v Speaker 2>Tomadacia Life. I wish I would have added Evil Jan instead.
<v Speaker 2>Man next time, there's still time. Yeah, well I filled
<v Speaker 2>it up the demo. Want to lets you do three now?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 5>Also shouts out to to pas and and all the
<v Speaker 5>fellas and friend friends and people working hard over there.
<v Speaker 5>I feel like Pax really does, uh you know, give
<v Speaker 5>us the cozy feelings right yeah, oh yeah, and.
<v Speaker 2>The people because it's like Packs is so huge at
<v Speaker 2>this point that it can look it could seem kind
<v Speaker 2>of faceless at a certain point, and then you go
<v Speaker 2>chin feet into you walk ten feet into the room,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, oh no, there's someone that's putting this together
<v Speaker 2>that we know and recognize and they helped us out
<v Speaker 2>before and we love working with them. So oh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>really really great stuff.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, everyone from the enforcers, the stage managers, detect people
<v Speaker 6>and everything. It's just like I've always really enjoyed going
<v Speaker 6>to Packs exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>They they really roll out the red carpet for us.
<v Speaker 4>In a big way.
<v Speaker 5>And uh, you know, we we really just want to
<v Speaker 5>thank everyone involved there, especially Pierce, who's our who's our
<v Speaker 5>our our champion there, and that means a lot of
<v Speaker 5>getting able getting to be able to work with those
<v Speaker 5>people every year.
<v Speaker 4>It's really really awesome.
<v Speaker 5>And also thanks to everyone, you know, like you said,
<v Speaker 5>Grub coming up saying hi, uh that stuff makes Dib
<v Speaker 5>feel like a million bucks and he uh, he probably
<v Speaker 5>that whole weekend, he.
<v Speaker 1>Probably made a million bucks selling those dragons on the side.
<v Speaker 4>I have a dragon now stuff on the foot.
<v Speaker 6>He's got to learn how to haggle. I was gonna
<v Speaker 6>buy one if he would have haggled with me, but
<v Speaker 6>he offered him two dollars. No, I started the dollar
<v Speaker 6>fifty and I bumped it up to two dollars. Oh
<v Speaker 6>never mind that and play ball, and.
<v Speaker 3>So he lost the sale.
<v Speaker 5>So Mary figured out a way to make a child happy,
<v Speaker 5>to make a child mild.
<v Speaker 3>Business. I'm in Jeff, I'm.
<v Speaker 5>Very painfully aware of that. I'm looking for a deal
<v Speaker 5>and uh yeah that that ship rules.
<v Speaker 4>So it was great seeing Aaron.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Also, you know, special shouts out to Dave Dave
<v Speaker 1>the photographer, designer packs as well, uh, Dave's been taking
<v Speaker 1>a bunch of photos of us chuckleheads for years now.
<v Speaker 1>Got to break bread chat with him. We talked about Denim, surprise, surprise,
<v Speaker 1>and then he was exactly we had to the rafters, like, Yo, Doug,
<v Speaker 1>I'm about to go to the catwalk to take photos.
<v Speaker 1>You want to come with? And I just looked at
<v Speaker 1>him as like bet and then yeah, sweating the whole time.
<v Speaker 1>I got creepy stalker footage of you guys. It was great,
<v Speaker 1>it was fun times. It'll be it'll be good footy
<v Speaker 1>for the packs East Flog coming soon real quick.
<v Speaker 2>On that, I have to admit that we people are like, hey,
<v Speaker 2>he's up on the rafters and I did look up
<v Speaker 2>and I waved at someone. I'm like, I'm pretty sure
<v Speaker 2>that's a white guy, but I'm still gonna wave because
<v Speaker 2>everyone says that's Jan.
<v Speaker 1>So uh, boys, anything else from the weekend or travels
<v Speaker 1>going back home? You want to you want to chat about?
<v Speaker 1>Talk about?
<v Speaker 5>Huh huh? All right, that it all just happened. It
<v Speaker 5>all just happened. I got to see I got to
<v Speaker 5>see Mikey dance.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. We were at the Twitch party
<v Speaker 4>and I disappeared for a while, like we were like
<v Speaker 4>on the balcony. He I was like, I'm just gonna
<v Speaker 4>go dance on the dance floor until they notice. I
<v Speaker 4>just like went in the middle and faced you guys
<v Speaker 4>in dance for it felt like five minutes until you
<v Speaker 4>saw me.
<v Speaker 6>We had a bit, a little bit of everything, right
<v Speaker 6>we be in at the Twitch party.
<v Speaker 3>Don't we think of.
<v Speaker 1>Youthful?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, oh you're selling yourself. Yeah, speak for yourself. Everyone
<v Speaker 5>else seemed to be doing and I mean, mikey, you
<v Speaker 5>looked great.
<v Speaker 2>Let me just take moves were fantastic. Eventually I did
<v Speaker 2>notice is I looked over and it's like, who is
<v Speaker 2>cutting a rug? And was Mike manaughty?
<v Speaker 4>I believed every move you were making for real. I
<v Speaker 4>want to say that. No lie dancing. Yeah, I hit
<v Speaker 4>the drop real good. I felt good about I felt
<v Speaker 4>good about a drop.
<v Speaker 1>He pegged to that ship. Yeah, yeah that's yes.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know what Jan meant, but pegg two.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I did that absolutely, you know, after voguing and
<v Speaker 1>and stuff like that, like drag queens will do and
<v Speaker 1>they like drop and then one legs bent and right, No,
<v Speaker 1>you didn't do that.
<v Speaker 4>No, I don't think so he tried, but he pulled something. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>it hurt really badly.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 4>I got to announce a new show I don't know
<v Speaker 4>as well, Portal Pals, which is a new premium show
<v Speaker 4>me playing the Portal two co op campaign with man Kish.
<v Speaker 4>That first episode is going up, you know, not too
<v Speaker 4>long after this show is done today. I believe the
<v Speaker 4>exact time of that is to do four pm Eastern.
<v Speaker 4>First episode will be free for everybody. So yes, you
<v Speaker 4>can all check out episode one of Portal Pals and
<v Speaker 4>then it's gonna release every other week premium only. Just
<v Speaker 4>go to giant bomb dot com slash join and consider
<v Speaker 4>becoming a premium member yourself.
<v Speaker 1>We made the audible call this morning, and by we,
<v Speaker 1>I mean just Dan and I. If you're a premium member,
<v Speaker 1>you get to watch Portal Pals an hour earlier than
<v Speaker 1>everyone else if you want to watch that on the website. Otherwise,
<v Speaker 1>four pm Eastern one pm Pacific time, it'll be on
<v Speaker 1>YouTube for all y'all. And let me tell y'all, I
<v Speaker 1>you know I've I've watched several streams of Mary before.
<v Speaker 1>I used to watch Resident Knievel with her and Mahardi.
<v Speaker 1>I'm I'm used to seeing Mary, but there is a specific,
<v Speaker 1>unhinged version of her in this show. And also, you
<v Speaker 1>know what, Mike, it's too late to change it now
<v Speaker 1>because the show is in the can. You'll say holes
<v Speaker 1>too much. At holes, It's called portals. It's in the
<v Speaker 1>name of the game.
<v Speaker 4>Look the portal pals aka the peak piece. We can't
<v Speaker 4>do anything about all these holes.
<v Speaker 1>Okay.
<v Speaker 6>The dynamic between you know, I've seen the dynamic between
<v Speaker 6>Manati and Mary off camera, off and on for a
<v Speaker 6>few years and it's it's very good. It is an
<v Speaker 6>interesting dynamic that fire escape recently, and you guys are
<v Speaker 6>awesome together.
<v Speaker 3>It's I am really looking forward.
<v Speaker 4>To watching Chat has come up with the tackling for
<v Speaker 4>the show. Now you're thinking with holes that recorded?
<v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, she kicked be so hard in my ass
<v Speaker 1>that pasty.
<v Speaker 6>It was great. It was like literally literally the goal
<v Speaker 6>kick to my asshole at the party. Uh no, first night,
<v Speaker 6>first time, that doesn't send right.
<v Speaker 4>It was incredible. Basically, we're at the lobby part Dan
<v Speaker 4>goofed Mary, and Mary retaliated by first shoving you, and
<v Speaker 4>you did it one eighty turn as you got shoved,
<v Speaker 4>exposing your ass and she shoved her boot almost straight
<v Speaker 4>into your asshole, sir.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 6>The way I immediately thought of it was like, you
<v Speaker 6>know in resideval, you shoot the leg and then kind
<v Speaker 6>of staggers and you see the melee attack by her head.
<v Speaker 6>She like staggered me and it turned me and then
<v Speaker 6>she hit X and just feel goal kick into the asshole.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, what did you do that? You deserved that short version.
<v Speaker 6>Let's say there's just someone you know she was trying
<v Speaker 6>to avoid at the show and I was in the
<v Speaker 6>middle of talking to her about something completely different, and
<v Speaker 6>then I looked over her shoulder and I was like, oh, hey,
<v Speaker 6>blank person, and she turned around with just absolute panic
<v Speaker 6>in her eyes, and then turned back around and realized
<v Speaker 6>I was fucking with her and then kicked me in
<v Speaker 6>my ass.
<v Speaker 4>Love to see it that. The next day, Dan was
<v Speaker 4>trying to get simpy. He's like, oh man, my ass
<v Speaker 4>really hurts.
<v Speaker 1>Actually like cool, hell yeah, cool.
<v Speaker 5>Oh that's why you didn't sit all weekend.
<v Speaker 1>Right right, Just get a'm roy and now I got
<v Speaker 1>an ass kick going on and just sitting leaning to
<v Speaker 1>the side the whole time. Also, you know, it's always
<v Speaker 1>fun to see the whole gang together. Seeing Sean in person.
<v Speaker 1>Will Chuck Chuck's wife was hanging out with us for
<v Speaker 1>a scoch uh great, great times. I believe we have
<v Speaker 1>the Vinnie panel up on the website, but I'll make
<v Speaker 1>sure to get the millionaire panels up as well. Yo, gang,
<v Speaker 1>we drew a crowd. I think we're a draw. It
<v Speaker 1>was sick, you.
<v Speaker 2>Know, thanks to everyone who like was like trying to
<v Speaker 2>figure out their travel and we didn't have dates because
<v Speaker 2>we were working with packs pretty closely, so we helped
<v Speaker 2>them out by moving our panels around to help facilitate them.
<v Speaker 2>But when people heard, they just showed up on those days.
<v Speaker 4>And thank you for doing so.
<v Speaker 1>That was awesome.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, it was interesting because it's like the first time
<v Speaker 6>we've done shows from the show floor itself, and so
<v Speaker 6>my ascension was it was just gonna be the little
<v Speaker 6>stage that like, okay, people that don't know who we
<v Speaker 6>are are going to walk up and just kind of
<v Speaker 6>like I want to sit down for a second and
<v Speaker 6>then we're doing this game show thing.
<v Speaker 3>But like, people showed up. Yeah, it was much more
<v Speaker 3>so than I expected.
<v Speaker 1>People squatted, people were there like the segment before ours,
<v Speaker 1>just trying to get a good seat and everything. Someone
<v Speaker 1>gave me Boston Big Beans and I learned that it's
<v Speaker 1>a candy. Did you all know that?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I have all of those. By the way, I
<v Speaker 4>forgot to redistribute those. I don't even want them.
<v Speaker 1>Wow. Wow, you didn't have to say you didn't want them, Mike.
<v Speaker 1>It was a gift from a lovely community member.
<v Speaker 4>I'm got to throw them in the trash. Wow.
<v Speaker 1>The bad Boy, Oh my god, No, Jesus, Oh were
<v Speaker 1>you were.
<v Speaker 4>You stunned at all by by by Chi Chuck saying
<v Speaker 4>he doesn't like the bad boy thing anymore? Jan, you
<v Speaker 4>think it's played out? What do you think?
<v Speaker 1>Oh?
<v Speaker 4>That was probably the highlight of the trip for me. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>clearly he's been reeling about it ever since.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, I was reeling about the thought that bad
<v Speaker 1>Boy is everywhere. Mike. That was that was the thought
<v Speaker 1>you posited to the group that like, I think it's
<v Speaker 1>over in terms of not like being done, but like
<v Speaker 1>over with everyone. I'm hearing it everywhere. I thought it
<v Speaker 1>was over. I don't know, Chuck March Chuck's Chucks. I
<v Speaker 1>think like he didn't say this that I miss.
<v Speaker 4>Here, Chuck. I don't know. I think I heard you
<v Speaker 4>a lot and clear.
<v Speaker 1>I was there, Mike.
<v Speaker 4>I had the same impression that Chuck said. It was
<v Speaker 4>done like it was like it played out he said,
<v Speaker 4>I kind of over badt Yes, he says, I don't
<v Speaker 4>remember this, Okay, I have a witness. Yeah, did you
<v Speaker 4>play that Runk?
<v Speaker 2>It just starts saving getting drunk? Is is kind of
<v Speaker 2>one way of saying it always drunk?
<v Speaker 5>Might be the other, right, right, also remembers that Will
<v Speaker 5>is confirming Ya, I have a bad memory.
<v Speaker 2>So now that you got Will, I think it's all
<v Speaker 2>locked down.
<v Speaker 3>I'm holding off until I hear what Walter Crunk says
<v Speaker 3>about it.
<v Speaker 4>Oh my god, shut the hell up. Why don't you
<v Speaker 4>go back to our pelleontology, you son of a bitch.
<v Speaker 1>Folks that don't know what we're referencing there, The long
<v Speaker 1>con is over, Dan, would you would you like to
<v Speaker 1>briefly explain to the folks at home?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, if you want to see the clip of Mike
<v Speaker 6>realizing I've been trolling him for five months, I think
<v Speaker 6>it's on Giant Bomb and fire Escapes Instagram. Uh but yeah,
<v Speaker 6>Mike loves Reddit comments a lot and YouTube comments, and
<v Speaker 6>so at the Bomathon, I decided I'm going to make
<v Speaker 6>a fake Reddit account and I'm just gonna have it
<v Speaker 6>incredibly petty complaints about Mike Manatti until he says something
<v Speaker 6>on content about it. And uh, we were recording fire
<v Speaker 6>Escape and he said something about it, and so I
<v Speaker 6>accomplished my goal. And now Manati is just seeing him
<v Speaker 6>flashback to all these comments that have made him mad
<v Speaker 6>over the last five months and realizing it's me. Uh, yeah,
<v Speaker 6>I'm very happy with how that panned out.
<v Speaker 1>It's always you.
<v Speaker 5>Just keep in mind, everyone learn from this, Okay, keep
<v Speaker 5>him mind. Just keep in mind what this person is
<v Speaker 5>capable of. Yeah, lengths he's willing to go to collude, lie.
<v Speaker 3>Cheatings to this is all me. I'm not gluting with
<v Speaker 3>anyone with my one with yourself.
<v Speaker 1>Favorite reaction of everyone that learned this this weekend was
<v Speaker 1>Vinnie Caravellas just genuinely why would you do that to him?
<v Speaker 5>Yes, the most normal person reaction.
<v Speaker 4>You're Shenanigan.
<v Speaker 1>I just saw the gears slowly taking in Vinnie's head
<v Speaker 1>where he starts to question reality of like I might
<v Speaker 1>have made major life decisions because of a comment.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, Dan gave me a wonderful gift in a way though,
<v Speaker 4>because now every time I see a comment criticizing your
<v Speaker 4>big b to be, I will just tell us so,
<v Speaker 4>probably just another one of Dan's aults.
<v Speaker 3>Everyone loves me and Mike. That's the ultimate goal. I
<v Speaker 3>just wanted to make you feel better.
<v Speaker 4>Thank you, buddy, I really be You know, Mary should
<v Speaker 4>not have kicked you in the butt. Dance your face.
<v Speaker 4>That's why he did that to him.
<v Speaker 3>My methods might be unconventional, but they are benevolent.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, that's right. It's kind of Taoist. It's kind
<v Speaker 1>of Buddhist in a way. It's like the.
<v Speaker 4>Most benevolent man.
<v Speaker 3>Some are saying, Dan has always gotten me. Thank you.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, I understanda but Danza, thank you, thank you,
<v Speaker 1>thank you. Uh Walter Crakanza boys. That was back the weekend. Also,
<v Speaker 1>you know, it's also fun seeing Vitelli, Van Allen, the
<v Speaker 1>whole gang, a bunch of friends, a bunch of Hooligan's
<v Speaker 1>finale just running around yelling birds, we face I faced,
<v Speaker 1>we face timed with his mom for like a hot second.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah that's right. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I love people coming up and saying hi, I saying
<v Speaker 4>those things. I was so happy because this trip it
<v Speaker 4>became real my big goal of becoming a MISS person
<v Speaker 4>has happened because like most people come up to me
<v Speaker 4>just to talk about Miss now and this is what
<v Speaker 4>I have always wanted. Congratulations, this is always wanted. I'm
<v Speaker 4>associated with MISS. I mean, I think all the misbusters
<v Speaker 4>are for sure.
<v Speaker 2>I don't mean to I feel like, no, no, I
<v Speaker 2>get I feel like I played that game as well,
<v Speaker 2>but no, yeah, people brought it up to be as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, absolutely, hell yeah, so good fantastic.
<v Speaker 3>Also, have you see Chuck kind of thing, call him Mestopheles.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, Chuck was telling me that that his wife had
<v Speaker 1>an interaction where she was on an escalator his wife, uh,
<v Speaker 1>and they had just passed like to maybe I don't
<v Speaker 1>know if those two community members had anything, but they
<v Speaker 1>like pointed back at Chuck. As Chuck was walking away,
<v Speaker 1>He's like, that's Chuck Towski over there, speaking of escalators.
<v Speaker 4>Remember the bullshit you guys are pulling. Oh god, I'd like,
<v Speaker 4>I'm up. I go down the escalator to go through
<v Speaker 4>the show for and you guys all happen to be
<v Speaker 4>going up like ha ha oh no, Mike, come meet there.
<v Speaker 4>I'm like, ha ha, how funny. Okay, So then I
<v Speaker 4>go up and then you guys start going down? Would
<v Speaker 4>I start going up? Like great? So that like I
<v Speaker 4>wait to be all right, come on down, like let's
<v Speaker 4>go I uh huh, okay.
<v Speaker 5>You do it again, man, Mike, you can't fall for
<v Speaker 5>that ship, right, Yes, yes, we got a good chunk
<v Speaker 5>of that in the vlog.
<v Speaker 1>Also, like people were actively seeing us because we're right
<v Speaker 1>at the main entrance of the convention center. They're saying hi,
<v Speaker 1>and then they just see all of us fucking going
<v Speaker 1>up and down at escalator.
<v Speaker 4>They see you bullying me.
<v Speaker 6>I forget who was, but somebody's like, all right, we've
<v Speaker 6>done to the enough, let's let him come in. I
<v Speaker 6>had to tell them. I was like, listen, if I
<v Speaker 6>had my druthers, we'd have to cancel the panel of
<v Speaker 6>the day.
<v Speaker 1>I can't wait for once we eventually for shoot, get
<v Speaker 1>to do that thing that they do and like Scooby
<v Speaker 1>Doo where you're like going in and out of doors
<v Speaker 1>and all the way. Oh yeah, we need to pull
<v Speaker 1>that off.
<v Speaker 5>I just remember one of the highlights. It was just
<v Speaker 5>a very strange moment after we had that ginormous lobster
<v Speaker 5>ole dinner. You guys, uh, we we're heading out to
<v Speaker 5>the Twitch party, and I guess that was just like
<v Speaker 5>a little behind.
<v Speaker 1>I was.
<v Speaker 5>I had to go down to the lobby myself and
<v Speaker 5>I hit the elevator button and you know, I'm from
<v Speaker 5>the fifth floor to the lobby and the elephant her
<v Speaker 5>door opens and it's like a person in a very
<v Speaker 5>good realistic looking heath Ledger joker outfit.
<v Speaker 1>Oh okay, I think I know what you're talking about.
<v Speaker 4>And the guy goes Jeff backlar elevator.
<v Speaker 5>I was like, whoa shook there, and I was like,
<v Speaker 5>he's like, hey, how are you. I like, nice to
<v Speaker 5>see you, appreciate you saying hi, we just had a
<v Speaker 5>nice little, nice little trip down and I'm.
<v Speaker 4>Like, all right, you have a good one.
<v Speaker 5>He's just like, yeah, I forgot to hit my floor.
<v Speaker 1>What a joker.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, definitely a memory maker there.
<v Speaker 4>That was a lot of fun.
<v Speaker 5>So I don't know if I got that person's name,
<v Speaker 5>I can't remember, but nice to see you and scary.
<v Speaker 4>I know I mentioned many of my socio Phi pause
<v Speaker 4>that I committed over the weekend. I forget if I
<v Speaker 4>talked with you guys on the panel, any think about
<v Speaker 4>the snap incident? What?
<v Speaker 6>No, we brought up the escalator. We brought up a few,
<v Speaker 6>but yeah, the snapping you didn't bring up. Please, yeah, folks.
<v Speaker 4>Well, so when when I was first there, actually it
<v Speaker 4>was just me and Will and Jen you had that
<v Speaker 4>tender panel that you talked about, and we got up
<v Speaker 4>there and you guys were already in there and there
<v Speaker 4>was a line for me, but you know, like we're
<v Speaker 4>friends with you guys, Like, I don't want to wait
<v Speaker 4>on the line. So I kind of like cracked the
<v Speaker 4>door open and I'm like looking, I'm peeking in, and
<v Speaker 4>you or someone sees me and they're like they wave,
<v Speaker 4>they waved me in. I'm okay, great, so I can
<v Speaker 4>see this. But Will's next to me, just on his
<v Speaker 4>phone right a little you know, not not not totally present.
<v Speaker 4>Dare I say so, I'm like, oh, Will, let's go
<v Speaker 4>call us in. They did the snap and maybe a
<v Speaker 4>little close to the face, right right, and Will was like, Mike,
<v Speaker 4>you just snap at me. Good your touch, and you're
<v Speaker 4>all right right, Apparently that's not a polite thing to do.
<v Speaker 5>No, No, it's not.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it's good to snap.
<v Speaker 1>It's that being said. You are a very good snapper,
<v Speaker 1>because you you're so good. You were very good at it.
<v Speaker 1>You could be in like the Jets or the Sharks.
<v Speaker 1>No problem front billing West Side story.
<v Speaker 4>Featuring Snapper right right, right right.
<v Speaker 1>So I think if you followed up the snap with
<v Speaker 1>like a like a double point to a direction, that
<v Speaker 1>would have made it.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, okay, it was I'll tell you what is impulsive
<v Speaker 4>anything about it was basically think that I snap at
<v Speaker 4>people without realizing how much they hate it a lot.
<v Speaker 4>That's a big problem. Actually, how close was the snap
<v Speaker 4>to the face again, I mean it might have been.
<v Speaker 4>It might have been pretty close, because like we were
<v Speaker 4>close together, right Like. It's not like I could have
<v Speaker 4>like put it behind me like like a backhand snap.
<v Speaker 1>You know, right to protect.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, I could have just said will or maybe even
<v Speaker 4>like a poke, But no, I won't the snap because
<v Speaker 4>it was easiest. Yeah.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, but Dan Fiasco and Chad saying, oh shit, Mike
<v Speaker 6>is Carmela and the dinner party scene in Spranos That's
<v Speaker 6>what I said, specifically, I just watched that where Carmela
<v Speaker 6>is doing the like snapper.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, probably not. Yeah, I get why that might be
<v Speaker 4>an to some people. Yeah, that was like that was
<v Speaker 4>one of the lesser of my phill pause that that
<v Speaker 4>that one day. Honestly after that, I was fine that
<v Speaker 4>first day when why you weren't even there? I was
<v Speaker 4>kind of just on fire, insulting my fellow Italians, making
<v Speaker 4>an ass out on myself in the elevator. Loat be
<v Speaker 4>fun stuff though.
<v Speaker 1>Uh yeah. Once again, special shouts at to everyone that
<v Speaker 1>said hi. Also, gang, never be too shy to say hi.
<v Speaker 1>If we look like we're in a rush to get
<v Speaker 1>somewhere maybe you know, uh coolier jets. But if we're
<v Speaker 1>just casually walking around.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, yeah, I do feel bad when it's like I
<v Speaker 6>always do the last second pee before a panel, when
<v Speaker 6>I usually do like three last second piece and it's
<v Speaker 6>always like the last one. I'm literally like sprinting back
<v Speaker 6>and somebody will stop and like ask the picture. And
<v Speaker 6>I always feel bad if I'm like rushing it, you know,
<v Speaker 6>But yeah, I gotta go and say like thirty seconds.
<v Speaker 4>People will get it. People always seem to understand.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, yes, I guess let's talk about video games.
<v Speaker 4>Sorry I snapped that you will, but like and then
<v Speaker 4>snap at you. That's not what they call it that, right,
<v Speaker 4>It's a snap. It's different to a totally different thing
<v Speaker 4>like snapping on someone. Well I snapped that.
<v Speaker 3>Snapped at him.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but if I said, oh I snapped at you,
<v Speaker 4>that's not what people think. No one's confusing, that's and
<v Speaker 4>they still think it's a football.
<v Speaker 1>I love that this is gonna haunt Mikey you know
<v Speaker 1>am it?
<v Speaker 4>M I don't think I did anything.
<v Speaker 1>Wrong, per honestly, Well you don't know what happened after
<v Speaker 1>the panel that Will came up to me and it
<v Speaker 1>was like very upset. Oh no, see that may not
<v Speaker 1>even be a real thing. Who knows. I could.
<v Speaker 4>I want to go talk to our HR department.
<v Speaker 2>Will Oh wait, oh no, high to the judge when
<v Speaker 2>this gets played in court, Judge.
<v Speaker 4>The judge, no do that. Uh, you're the bad boy.
<v Speaker 1>Is just gonna be the bad boy all year round,
<v Speaker 1>just like you know, we needed a plumber for all seasons,
<v Speaker 1>Dan Riker, Yeah, you checked out. Is this a mod
<v Speaker 1>or it is? Uh?
<v Speaker 6>We went to a bar when I was Knights and
<v Speaker 6>we met mister Finelli invited this invite of this and
<v Speaker 6>introduced us to his friend Carl jerm who is a
<v Speaker 6>speed runner.
<v Speaker 3>Does you know GDQ stuff?
<v Speaker 1>Does he did.
<v Speaker 2>Dark Souls to run during packs? On the GDQ stage
<v Speaker 2>and everyone apparently he had a huge crab. People are
<v Speaker 2>very into it. I wish I would have saw it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, super nice guy, Greb.
<v Speaker 6>You and I were talking to him a lot, and
<v Speaker 6>he was asking the kind of what games we play,
<v Speaker 6>and I mentioned Mario.
<v Speaker 4>Arsos one I dare you insinuate it's a filthy Dark
<v Speaker 4>Souls two player?
<v Speaker 1>Gee?
<v Speaker 5>Thank you? I was like, wow, okay, I said that.
<v Speaker 4>I was like, was it Dark Souls too? Gross? I
<v Speaker 4>thought I liked him.
<v Speaker 1>Well.
<v Speaker 6>He also does Kaizo Mario stuff, which Kaizo stuff is
<v Speaker 6>like I've always like, whenever I've seen it, it's like,
<v Speaker 6>well that's fucking nuts, and like I don't even want
<v Speaker 6>to dip my toe in that because that seems insane
<v Speaker 6>or like incredibly difficult. And he told me like, oh, well,
<v Speaker 6>there's a world, like you know, really good rom hacks
<v Speaker 6>and things like that that aren't just super crazy Kaiso stuff,
<v Speaker 6>or here's some that are like you know, Greb you
<v Speaker 6>mentioned the one that's like one screen of the time,
<v Speaker 6>and it's just kind of like teaching you just individual things.
<v Speaker 4>And jumps and platforms.
<v Speaker 6>I think, yeah, yeah, yeah, and then eventually you time
<v Speaker 6>together and kind of learning these skills and everything. But
<v Speaker 6>he said that one called a Plumber for all Seasons
<v Speaker 6>is just a really good mod that is not it's
<v Speaker 6>not trying to be Kaiso, it's not trying to be
<v Speaker 6>super difficult. It's just a lot of original art and
<v Speaker 6>backgrounds and different takes on the enemies and stuff like.
<v Speaker 6>The move set is just straight up Mario World, although
<v Speaker 6>you get the tanuki suit, the tail, not the cape chase.
<v Speaker 6>Where I'm at, I'm at one of the seasons, and
<v Speaker 6>it's just like Mario going through each world is like
<v Speaker 6>a season. So I started with Autumn. I just went
<v Speaker 6>into Spring, and it's just a really solid, like it's
<v Speaker 6>new Mario World levels, nothing gimmicky or anything about that
<v Speaker 6>just looks beautiful, new music and everything. Yeah, I mean,
<v Speaker 6>any excuse to play more Mario World or even just
<v Speaker 6>games with that. That move set is always fun for me.
<v Speaker 6>So yeah, play about an hour last night and really
<v Speaker 6>enjoyed it.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, I played. I played about an hour as well.
<v Speaker 1>I was. I really enjoyed it.
<v Speaker 2>It's not exactly what I was looking for when we
<v Speaker 2>were talking to them, like I think I will go
<v Speaker 2>to jump some platforms, but for being a rom haack
<v Speaker 2>that's just like, hey, here is a different take on
<v Speaker 2>super Mario World. It's really well done, and you could tell,
<v Speaker 2>like there's a reason why the ham of Rock ram hacks,
<v Speaker 2>the rom haacks continue to exist alongside of ham hacks,
<v Speaker 2>alongside Super Mario Maker, because you could just do a
<v Speaker 2>little bit more, get a little bit more in the
<v Speaker 2>weeds of what Super Mario World is, and then the
<v Speaker 2>Super Mario World move set in physics is just a
<v Speaker 2>little bit different than it is in Super Mario World
<v Speaker 2>or a super Mario Maker.
<v Speaker 4>Excuse me.
<v Speaker 2>So just kind of going over here and experiencing that
<v Speaker 2>it has kind of opened me up to, oh, I
<v Speaker 2>should be doing a lot more of.
<v Speaker 3>These, sam I just felt right to like I threw it.
<v Speaker 6>I guess you can't put it on like an ever
<v Speaker 6>drive because it uses like yeah, at first he said
<v Speaker 6>the A four chip, but then he told me last
<v Speaker 6>night that he thinks it was like a SA one
<v Speaker 6>chip or some basically a chip.
<v Speaker 1>That the ever SA one is probably right.
<v Speaker 6>Yes, yeah, So what I did was I threw it
<v Speaker 6>on my mister, and I just played it, you know,
<v Speaker 6>with the snack adapters. I played with an actual OEM
<v Speaker 6>Superintendent controller on a trenda Tron and it was just like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>this just feels right, this is great.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I was playing on a Steam deck with just kind
<v Speaker 2>of a basic CRT filter on and that worked as well.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, really cool stuff.
<v Speaker 1>I'm curious if there are any like indie devs or
<v Speaker 1>developers out there that kind of got their start doing
<v Speaker 1>any of these rom hacks. That'd be really cool to see.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think I think that's definitely been the case. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>certainly on the mod side of things, but I got
<v Speaker 2>to assume it's happening in rom hacks as well.
<v Speaker 1>Dan speaking about Mario, I.
<v Speaker 4>Need a moment. I need a moment. I gotta confess something.
<v Speaker 4>So Chuck actually published a review of Legacy of Kane Ascendants,
<v Speaker 4>which I do get the play. But there was a
<v Speaker 4>comment on Reddit about his review, and it was somebody
<v Speaker 4>being like, I'm sure I was gonna get downvoted, but
<v Speaker 4>I'm serious when I say that half stars are for
<v Speaker 4>cowards and just complaining about the race system. And I
<v Speaker 4>got mad at this comment and I did downvote it,
<v Speaker 4>and only just now a moment ago, well you guys
<v Speaker 4>are talking about that game, realized the comment was from
<v Speaker 4>Walter Krunk. Hey, Dan records himself. I mean, I happened
<v Speaker 4>to get this intervention. I'm gonna listen.
<v Speaker 1>You need to be an active participant in this podcast.
<v Speaker 5>This is your lowest point. All right, rock bottom, rock
<v Speaker 5>rock bomb.
<v Speaker 6>He makes some good and wait, he says there was
<v Speaker 6>an elegant simplicity to the five system that and hang on,
<v Speaker 6>that's been jed. He brings up good points that's been jettisoned.
<v Speaker 6>And for what it feels like a ploy to get
<v Speaker 6>more clicks from metacrit You're.
<v Speaker 5>Acting like a psychopath at the moment. Don't do that. Okay,
<v Speaker 5>that is anti social, deeply upsetting behavior for sure. Mikey,
<v Speaker 5>he's got you in his pocket. Okay, Right, we've talked
<v Speaker 5>a lot about this off camera, how to deal with
<v Speaker 5>this kind of stuff with him, Like you gotta just burst.
<v Speaker 2>You got to move past this shame you're feeling now
<v Speaker 2>and into a better person.
<v Speaker 5>You're gonna get out of this and maybe you have
<v Speaker 5>a problem is the first step.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't.
<v Speaker 4>I don't why people think I'm just browsing Reddit when
<v Speaker 4>we're doing that.
<v Speaker 1>You just realized that you're saying sounds like reds think
<v Speaker 1>that's what.
<v Speaker 4>I think right now, talking about in the in the discord.
<v Speaker 4>When I see there's unrid things on our discord during
<v Speaker 4>the podcast, I'm always like, it's someone yelling get me
<v Speaker 4>about my mic and I need to see it right
<v Speaker 4>go and look, And I saw.
<v Speaker 5>So new your days ahead.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, I don't know this is this is this is
<v Speaker 4>uh wow, I even knew, and I still let it
<v Speaker 4>happen again. Then I was like, why is this gating
<v Speaker 4>so many up? Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>Everyone just needs to Upot Walter every time he says
<v Speaker 3>something Mike.
<v Speaker 1>I I fear the day that Mike is finally gonna snaps.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm sorry I ruined transition jan I just I
<v Speaker 4>had to admit this. I needed my friends to know
<v Speaker 4>the depths of my despair and I needed I thank
<v Speaker 4>you back. I needed that reaching out.
<v Speaker 5>It takes it takes a brave person to admit they
<v Speaker 5>have a problem.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, I hear for you. I need this now,
<v Speaker 1>folks at home, if anyone is artistically talented or not,
<v Speaker 1>I just need someone to just quickly photoshop me Mike
<v Speaker 1>Asthanos and with an infinitey gauntlet and snap snap.
<v Speaker 2>Also, I want fan art of what people think Walter
<v Speaker 2>Krunk looks like.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I know what he looks like.
<v Speaker 1>In my head, he looks like Kronk from Emperor's New Groove. Sure,
<v Speaker 1>Damn's beard all right? Well, looks like he looks like
<v Speaker 1>Modoc but uglier. Damn uh, Dan Reikert, On top of
<v Speaker 1>playing a plumber for all seasons, you've continued to play
<v Speaker 1>more Mario games because you checked out Super Mario Brothers Wonder,
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Switched to Edition meet Up in Bella Bell Park.
<v Speaker 2>I played a little bit of this as well, but
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what that means because I didn't play
<v Speaker 2>the multiplayer stuff yet.
<v Speaker 6>Dan so same, and I think it's got weird rules too,
<v Speaker 6>where it's like there's no matchmaking, so you can't just
<v Speaker 6>like you need to have other people to bring Mario
<v Speaker 6>Brothers Wonder, Nintendo Switch to Edition Plus meet Up in
<v Speaker 6>Bella Bell Park upgrade pack.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, yes, Super Mario Brothers Wonder and Nintendo Switch
<v Speaker 2>to Edition Plus meet Up in Bella Bell Park doesn't
<v Speaker 2>have matchmaking. It does have the game party thing where
<v Speaker 2>it's like if you make a you know, game chat
<v Speaker 2>room on the switch together, and then you could bring
<v Speaker 2>that crew into this game and play a certain set
<v Speaker 2>of Bella Bell Park minigames, and then there's another set
<v Speaker 2>off to the left where it's if you're a local
<v Speaker 2>multiplayer you play those. I don't know if there's mixing
<v Speaker 2>a matching, because again I've not done yet done that yet.
<v Speaker 1>But there's other stuff right.
<v Speaker 2>Like, uh, it's updated to look better, yeah, I mean
<v Speaker 2>on paper.
<v Speaker 6>I don't know if I necessarily notice it's running on
<v Speaker 6>the switch too. It's look, I'm I'm a self admitted
<v Speaker 6>Nintendo mark from time to time, but then there's also
<v Speaker 6>times they do things like what are we fucking doing here?
<v Speaker 6>This is wonder I thought was a good, you know,
<v Speaker 6>side Mario game, and this upgrade pack, especially with eighty dollars,
<v Speaker 6>is kind of nuts. It's like they added a few
<v Speaker 6>coopeling boss battles you can play as Rosalina. There's this
<v Speaker 6>new flower power up which like you get kind of
<v Speaker 6>a Yoshi flutter jump, and then you get these like
<v Speaker 6>kind of vertical like flower platform projectiles you can shoot.
<v Speaker 6>It adds a little bit to the game, but it
<v Speaker 6>does seem like the bulk that they're going for here
<v Speaker 6>was the multiplayer stuff, which you can no matchmaking I
<v Speaker 6>mean who we work in video games, and like I
<v Speaker 6>would struggle if it's like I'm going to get a
<v Speaker 6>party of four together, of four friends and we're going
<v Speaker 6>to play this or whatever, Like I can't imagine many people.
<v Speaker 1>I'll do it with the with the family.
<v Speaker 2>At some point, I'll get your kids together here probably
<v Speaker 2>that probably this weekend, and we'll do some of it,
<v Speaker 2>especially after we watch the Mario movie. So I do
<v Speaker 2>kind of tend to go on disagreeing with Nintendo about
<v Speaker 2>all of their games should be party games. And it's
<v Speaker 2>like I and by party games, I mean they think
<v Speaker 2>that should be serious competition. Yes, right, you should turn
<v Speaker 2>the items off, you should get rid of the random elements.
<v Speaker 2>Finally we agree. Jeff, thank you. Are you reading Walter
<v Speaker 2>crunk comments again? Like he's living Walter crunk comments? Now,
<v Speaker 2>I what I mean by that is like they think
<v Speaker 2>of him as games that people play together in a house,
<v Speaker 2>like you know, as a party, instead of making it
<v Speaker 2>a functional online experience. If they're going to go that route,
<v Speaker 2>and this game is just like, ah, you know, we're
<v Speaker 2>going to try to emulate the party experience when you're online,
<v Speaker 2>and that will just be like when you have your friends,
<v Speaker 2>no match making, no extra stuff, no trying to get
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of people in here to make it easier.
<v Speaker 2>It's it just feels like mishandling these games when they
<v Speaker 2>could be doing so much more, or just give us
<v Speaker 2>what we've really been asking for from this game, more
<v Speaker 2>difficult levels.
<v Speaker 1>You could have done both in this.
<v Speaker 2>This could have been a combination of here's some side
<v Speaker 2>mini games and then here is just one new world,
<v Speaker 2>a very challenge like a special world equivalent from Super
<v Speaker 2>Mario World. And I would have been like, yeah, that
<v Speaker 2>is a really good way of making this feel valuable
<v Speaker 2>to a bunch of different people.
<v Speaker 4>It's twenty dollars d LC.
<v Speaker 6>They do have some like challenge levels. They have these
<v Speaker 6>like training things with like different categories of like oh,
<v Speaker 6>beat the level and keep your invincibility, sorry the entire time,
<v Speaker 6>beat the levels fast possible, beat all the enemies. But
<v Speaker 6>there's like no leaderboard stuff. There's no it's just like
<v Speaker 6>you get this water currency that you can use to
<v Speaker 6>water flowers in Bella Belle Park and change the flowers
<v Speaker 6>out with this new customization stuff. It's just boy, there
<v Speaker 6>was really none of it that that was like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>this is a twenty dollars upgrade or this whole package
<v Speaker 6>is an eighty dollars thing. Yeah, just really not doing anything.
<v Speaker 1>Wait, waity eighty.
<v Speaker 6>If you buy, if you don't have Wonder, if you
<v Speaker 6>just want to like buy it and you switch to
<v Speaker 6>with this, it's eighty dollars total. If you have Wonder,
<v Speaker 6>it's a twenty dollars upgrade pack.
<v Speaker 2>It's the way they've been doing all their sort of
<v Speaker 2>DLCs for Switch one games, where it's like, hey, we
<v Speaker 2>have Breath of the Wild for sixty so for the
<v Speaker 2>switch to edition if you want to the twenty dollars
<v Speaker 2>d else you could do that, or eighty dollars for
<v Speaker 2>the switch to edition with the DLC.
<v Speaker 5>I'm suppose they're not doing the same thing like they
<v Speaker 5>did where like if you have nso you get it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, they're going done that for a handful of.
<v Speaker 1>Mario did that right?
<v Speaker 4>I think? I think the Zelda's actually just a ten
<v Speaker 4>dollar thing because it's it's it's just an upgrade.
<v Speaker 2>It's a ten dollars thing for the seventy dollars game,
<v Speaker 2>I think, right.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, exactly, Well, it was an expansion, right, so like
<v Speaker 4>Kirby was an expansion Forgotten Land, right, so that's why
<v Speaker 4>that one right, like this one is right right, ten
<v Speaker 4>dollars went up to seventy Okay, I see yeah right
<v Speaker 4>yeah yeah, so like well yeah so like to me,
<v Speaker 4>I don't know if this seems as even content and
<v Speaker 4>rich as the Kirby thing, which did kind of feel
<v Speaker 4>like a whole new single player campaign even though it
<v Speaker 4>was sort of remixed levels that felt more substantial than
<v Speaker 4>this does.
<v Speaker 1>It does.
<v Speaker 6>Great question from Samo nice in the chat, who we
<v Speaker 6>met at Paxson was very nice. Yes, Dan, can two
<v Speaker 6>D Mario games not be mainline anymore? That's correct? No,
<v Speaker 6>no where not talking about this. Yeah, that's obviously an
<v Speaker 6>insane Uh. He has the right dumb opinion some people
<v Speaker 6>who think some people think things are gimmicks. We argued
<v Speaker 6>about this during dinner the one night for a while,
<v Speaker 6>and I don't know why we did it. Legitimately makes
<v Speaker 6>me mad, And now watching what just happened to Mike, I.
<v Speaker 2>Got to remind myself, I can't. I can't do this
<v Speaker 2>to myself anymore. I've got to stop.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Chuck posted a behind the scenes video in the
<v Speaker 1>behind the Scenes channel and discord of this very argument Meanwhile,
<v Speaker 1>back Laura and I are trying to have an earnest
<v Speaker 1>conversation about like cameras and like filming things.
<v Speaker 3>I mean mine was earnest. I want you to know.
<v Speaker 1>Oh no, I know that dumb, But you guys get
<v Speaker 1>progressively louder and louder and louder about it.
<v Speaker 3>I don't believe that.
<v Speaker 5>No, me, man, this was this was one of the
<v Speaker 5>first packses I remember or meeting uh you know, Ir
<v Speaker 5>Elevans were like so many different people came out to
<v Speaker 5>me and it was just like, Wow, Dan's voice really
<v Speaker 5>carries Huh. I've been hearing that. I heard that, I
<v Speaker 5>want to say, at least five times.
<v Speaker 3>My dad's been telling me that for a very long time.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, I guess it's probably true A little bit, A
<v Speaker 6>little bit, We're not.
<v Speaker 4>That's not up for debate, I think.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, speaking about like kind of remasters or collections, I
<v Speaker 1>guess I've been checking out Mega Man Star Force Legacy
<v Speaker 1>collection for folks that don't know or may have forgotten,
<v Speaker 1>Mega Man's Star Force is somewhat similar to MegaMan Battle Network.
<v Speaker 1>I believe these came out on the Nintendo DS where
<v Speaker 1>they flip that format similar ish enough gameplay, but instead
<v Speaker 1>of being having a field of tiles, this is behind
<v Speaker 1>the back and your Mega Man avatar person is only
<v Speaker 1>has access to like three lanes versus like the full
<v Speaker 1>nine tiles that you get in Battle Network. I know
<v Speaker 1>these games weren't like the best received because people either
<v Speaker 1>wanted an evolution from this concept or just more of
<v Speaker 1>the same from Battle Network, But this is a it's
<v Speaker 1>a fairly good collection, has all seven Star Force games.
<v Speaker 1>They have like the I forget what they're calling it,
<v Speaker 1>but a filter that where they have redone a little
<v Speaker 1>bit of like the character portraits, so those have been updated.
<v Speaker 1>It's kind of like a general smoothing filter.
<v Speaker 4>Overall.
<v Speaker 1>I haven't had any like performance issues with it, except
<v Speaker 1>for a couple of the cut scenes whereas the camera
<v Speaker 1>is panning, it's like kind of like jittery, and I
<v Speaker 1>can't figure out why it's doing that. But I just
<v Speaker 1>want more of these style of games. I just want
<v Speaker 1>more Mega Man in general. And I know where they
<v Speaker 1>have that contest for another two D Mega Man game,
<v Speaker 1>But like, is that same Mega Man game the one
<v Speaker 1>that had the voice actor controversy.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, the new one coming out, Yeah, the twelve, but
<v Speaker 4>not twelve. Yes, that's the one where uh yeah the
<v Speaker 4>CAPCOMs weird about sag after and stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I don't know. I don't even I've always felt weird
<v Speaker 4>about Star Force. Obviously I love Mega Man.
<v Speaker 2>Just to help you place it is, this is the
<v Speaker 2>one with the lane based combat.
<v Speaker 1>No no, no, not a mob.
<v Speaker 2>Like a puzzler sort of thing. Yeah, not a jungler.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Because like Battle Network, I liked a bit. I played
<v Speaker 4>two of them and then I was like, Okay, I
<v Speaker 4>kind of get with this. I don't need to play
<v Speaker 4>all of these ones, and by the time Star Force happened,
<v Speaker 4>it was sort of confusing, like, okay, so this is
<v Speaker 4>Battle Network, but it's a little bit different, and they
<v Speaker 4>never reviewed particularly well. So I just I don't I
<v Speaker 4>never felt that intrigued by it as much as I
<v Speaker 4>love Mega Man. Do you think as a Magma fan,
<v Speaker 4>I should check these out here? And you think I'm
<v Speaker 4>still kind of okay putting it off to the side
<v Speaker 4>and replaying Mega Man three for the two hundredth time.
<v Speaker 1>I think you're okay not checking it out, Mike. Did
<v Speaker 1>I know that these games like Battle Network and Star
<v Speaker 1>Forarces specifically had kind of a cult following. Uh, it's
<v Speaker 1>gonna be controversial here, Mike, this is my mega man.
<v Speaker 1>Battle Network is my mega man. I get that.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah. And there's people, Yeah, and it's there's there's definitely
<v Speaker 4>you know, some Magna fans who love both. But there
<v Speaker 4>are kind of almost two communities as well. It's a
<v Speaker 4>different thing.
<v Speaker 1>And there's a special third camp with legends over there.
<v Speaker 1>And to those people, yeah, oh no, I respect no, No,
<v Speaker 1>I feel bad for those people. I want them to
<v Speaker 1>get their come up real quick.
<v Speaker 2>Like so if you someone was maybe interested, yes, is
<v Speaker 2>are there, but they're like kind of wait and rec like,
<v Speaker 2>you know, whenever I go back to these old games,
<v Speaker 2>they never hold up the way people say.
<v Speaker 1>Are there like quality of life features like.
<v Speaker 2>The rewant safe states, all that stuff's just there and
<v Speaker 2>functions maybe makes it a little bit easier to get into.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, all of the quality of life stuff that they'd
<v Speaker 1>added to the legacy collection. Here they have like a
<v Speaker 1>general speed up thing, so your walk is sped up,
<v Speaker 1>you can speed through cut scenes. Yeah, one hundred percent,
<v Speaker 1>especially if you're just like I. I've always really enjoyed
<v Speaker 1>the story. Also, in most of the Battle Network games,
<v Speaker 1>and at least the first two Star Force games. And
<v Speaker 1>if you just kind of want to blast through it,
<v Speaker 1>like go through like a no fail state, they have
<v Speaker 1>that on. Or if you want like a little bit
<v Speaker 1>of a challenge but not too much, they have an
<v Speaker 1>option where you upgrade your regular blaster so that does
<v Speaker 1>more damage, and that's kind of has like a turbo
<v Speaker 1>button on it, so you can just dump as Mega Man.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, if you just kind of want to like
<v Speaker 1>speed your way through the game, they have all those
<v Speaker 1>options there. They also have the option if you want
<v Speaker 1>to just use the original graphics. It's interesting and I
<v Speaker 1>feel like a lot of games not necessarily struggle with this,
<v Speaker 1>but when you have a remaster or a collection of
<v Speaker 1>DS games, they have to play that awkward tank of like,
<v Speaker 1>all right, where do we put that second screen? Do
<v Speaker 1>we need it? Do we have it? And they they
<v Speaker 1>pull it off fine enough. Here. If you're just playing
<v Speaker 1>with like the center screen option, so like a singular one,
<v Speaker 1>they'll just peel off all the extraneous info onto a
<v Speaker 1>little pip on the side, or you could play with
<v Speaker 1>a format or that has both present at all times.
<v Speaker 1>But if you're a fan of Battle Network and wanted
<v Speaker 1>more of that. This is kind of that. It has
<v Speaker 1>that whole battle chip system, but here I believe they
<v Speaker 1>call it cards and all of that. They're familiar faces
<v Speaker 1>across the board. You're you know, you'll have this version
<v Speaker 1>of a proto Man, this version of a GutsMan. Time wise,
<v Speaker 1>I think this is like several several decades after the
<v Speaker 1>Battle Network series is supposed to conclude. This is too.
<v Speaker 4>Like like X versus Mega Man, like Mega Man to
<v Speaker 4>Mega Man. X is kind of somewhere to Bow Networks
<v Speaker 4>to the Star Forces, So it's like kind of the
<v Speaker 4>same world about so much time as the lapse that
<v Speaker 4>may as well be completely different.
<v Speaker 2>One last dumb question for the uninitiated. These games had
<v Speaker 2>like those Pokemon style red blue sort of things.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, right, yeah for me.
<v Speaker 2>Whenever I saw that, I'm like, I think this is
<v Speaker 2>probably not for me, because they're trying to like to
<v Speaker 2>get one over on families and families with kids and
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that, and I know what kind of game
<v Speaker 2>that's probably going to be, and I just didn't even
<v Speaker 2>try it.
<v Speaker 3>What about Oracle of Ages Oracle of Seasons.
<v Speaker 1>That was definitely them trying that same thing, right, But
<v Speaker 1>those are.
<v Speaker 4>Much those are two completely much.
<v Speaker 2>More different games. Yeah, but they were definitely.
<v Speaker 1>Trying the same concept in a Zelda way. The neat
<v Speaker 1>thing and I forget if the Battle Network collection that
<v Speaker 1>came out a year or two ago did this. But
<v Speaker 1>in Star Force they have a competitive multiplayer mode where
<v Speaker 1>you can play against other people online, which is really
<v Speaker 1>sick because there was a very niche homebrew community of
<v Speaker 1>competitive Battle Network people just firing that up. But you
<v Speaker 1>had to jump through several hoops, like you had to
<v Speaker 1>fire up Hamachi on your own network, and then I
<v Speaker 1>just want to eat the tuna and not fire up
<v Speaker 1>a separate program. But yeah, neat. If you were a
<v Speaker 1>fan of Mega Man Star Wars, I highly suggest this gang.
<v Speaker 1>We played quite the quite a bunch of things at packs.
<v Speaker 1>Well kind of actually just grub playing all of these
<v Speaker 1>mostly yeah, but grub you but nothing. I I played
<v Speaker 1>walk around and have fun with my friends. That's what
<v Speaker 1>I played.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Then you all left me on Sunday and my flight
<v Speaker 2>wasn't ntil much later, so I played a few games
<v Speaker 2>while you guys were gone.
<v Speaker 1>And one of those games, Jeff Greb was Tiny Metal too.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I am a I'm a fan of Tiny Metal
<v Speaker 2>the first one. There's actually it's a little confusing. There's
<v Speaker 2>been two. But the first one was okay, these are
<v Speaker 2>advance Wars style games, and the first one was okay.
<v Speaker 2>Then they did a follow up and I can never
<v Speaker 2>remember the subtitle, but when I was the Metal Full
<v Speaker 2>Metal Rumble, Thank You, Full Metal Rumble, they referred to
<v Speaker 2>it as a side quill because they're like, oh, now
<v Speaker 2>we're doing the real two.
<v Speaker 1>That's sactly was very good, Like what.
<v Speaker 3>Now, Mario Wonder?
<v Speaker 4>Sorry, go ahead, Oh yeah, oh shit, it's it's so.
<v Speaker 2>The thing about that one is it was improved in
<v Speaker 2>every way, and I was like, oh, they did a sequel.
<v Speaker 2>It's a complete upgrade. They figured it all out. They
<v Speaker 2>are doing even more now with Tiny Metal too. And
<v Speaker 2>the one thing that they did show off kind of
<v Speaker 2>right away is the co op mode where you're playing
<v Speaker 2>advanced Wars with someone else, and it's like you could
<v Speaker 2>be you could be two players, or you could be
<v Speaker 2>one person controlling two teams versus the CPU controlling two
<v Speaker 2>teams or something like that. But it was really fun
<v Speaker 2>to just like work with a stranger and be like, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>you're out in the you have a navy. I don't
<v Speaker 2>really have a navy.
<v Speaker 4>I'm on the land.
<v Speaker 2>Can you just sort of clear up the coastline so
<v Speaker 2>I can move up the coastline or whatever and I
<v Speaker 2>will can work together. And there was this one really
<v Speaker 2>smart feature which is pretty indicative of how this game
<v Speaker 2>really thinks through how to make advanced wars feel more
<v Speaker 2>complete these days. This focus fire feature where I have
<v Speaker 2>a helicopter and a tank, and I got let's say
<v Speaker 2>I have the tank and he has the helicopter. The
<v Speaker 2>helicopter is a glass cannon a little bit it can
<v Speaker 2>do a lot of damage, but if it gets hit
<v Speaker 2>by a lot of different units, it's going to take
<v Speaker 2>a ton of damage. So he can bring us his
<v Speaker 2>helicopter in and focus on it, and then that won't
<v Speaker 2>fire right away until another one comes in and focus fires,
<v Speaker 2>and I could bring in my tank at this point,
<v Speaker 2>and we could begin planning these out ahead of time
<v Speaker 2>of like, okay, if you bring that in there and wait,
<v Speaker 2>my turn is next. I'll bring the tank in. So
<v Speaker 2>when I do focus fire now, the enemy, if it
<v Speaker 2>has any life left, will retally at the tank instead
<v Speaker 2>of the helicopter, and the helicopter will be completely scott free.
<v Speaker 2>And instantly on turn one and a half, we began
<v Speaker 2>me and the stranger planning these these strategies out right away.
<v Speaker 2>And to me, it was like, oh, that is a
<v Speaker 2>sign that they just made it super simple. It's a
<v Speaker 2>game that really conveys and itself very well. It's easy
<v Speaker 2>to parse, and all that plays into they can get
<v Speaker 2>a little bit more complicated with the potential strategies that
<v Speaker 2>players can implement because it's such a simple game to
<v Speaker 2>get at the base level.
<v Speaker 1>I'm sorry, Grev, did you mention? Was this person like
<v Speaker 1>directly next to you or was it just like.
<v Speaker 4>I was coming up to play. I actually saw the guy.
<v Speaker 2>He was trying to play, and then he realized it
<v Speaker 2>was a co up and I was gonna he left.
<v Speaker 2>I was going to go to the station and I
<v Speaker 2>was just going to go back and forth and play both.
<v Speaker 2>We say, oh, can I play with you? I'm like, yeah, sure,
<v Speaker 2>and we just started playing and talking to each other. Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 2>looking at each other. Was it was really great. I
<v Speaker 2>could see people doing that also. I could see myself
<v Speaker 2>just still playing solo and doing both things and controlling
<v Speaker 2>both armies at the same time, and that working just fine.
<v Speaker 1>It was great.
<v Speaker 2>To go there also because I got to see Milkie
<v Speaker 2>who was doing pr for for them. It's James Milk
<v Speaker 2>used to work at EGM. What I mean, it was
<v Speaker 2>just to talk to him. That's the legend. That's he
<v Speaker 2>is fantastic. He also was like, you guys, you've got
<v Speaker 2>to Japan, although he apparently moved to New Zealand, which
<v Speaker 2>made me really jealous. I'm like, you could just do that, man,
<v Speaker 2>that's great.
<v Speaker 4>But he was.
<v Speaker 2>They also had a prototype for a game called Project Blitz,
<v Speaker 2>which I also have listed here, which is a sort
<v Speaker 2>of an advancement of Bomberman. It it takes their kind
<v Speaker 2>of character models from Tiny Metal and has has you
<v Speaker 2>played a bunch of as a bunch of different soldiers,
<v Speaker 2>and what you're trying to do is there's a one
<v Speaker 2>tank and you're trying to get in the tank to
<v Speaker 2>go into these zones to score points. Once you're in
<v Speaker 2>the tank, you're pretty immune to most fire. That someone
<v Speaker 2>would have to hit you a lot to get you
<v Speaker 2>out of there, unless they get a pickup for something
<v Speaker 2>like an RPG. Once they hit you with the rocket,
<v Speaker 2>you get stunned. Then someone can come in and swoop
<v Speaker 2>the tank and steal it. It becomes very chaotic, very quickly,
<v Speaker 2>plays very much like a Bomberman, has that same perspective,
<v Speaker 2>but it feels like even like there's a lot more
<v Speaker 2>going on in it than a Bomberman. So once again,
<v Speaker 2>they kind of have this idea and they're taking it
<v Speaker 2>a little bit deeper, and I was pretty impressed by that.
<v Speaker 2>They say it's a prototype, it's pretty early, but they
<v Speaker 2>also seem the one to get it out soon, and
<v Speaker 2>they have this idea of like it's multiplayer only we're
<v Speaker 2>trying to get it in it like under ten bucks,
<v Speaker 2>So it's gonna be pretty light. We're gonna have a
<v Speaker 2>handful of stages, handful of power ups, things like that,
<v Speaker 2>and we're just gonna watch it out there and see
<v Speaker 2>what people think. So hopefully that happens soon. I'm really
<v Speaker 2>looking forward.
<v Speaker 1>To that, very very neat. Actually, Dan Reicher and I
<v Speaker 1>also played a game together at Packs East. We were
<v Speaker 1>shepherded by the one and only Jesse Vittelli. As we
<v Speaker 1>were bruising the show floor, we checked out krocinle Uh.
<v Speaker 1>It was.
<v Speaker 4>Dan does not seem to remember this.
<v Speaker 1>Dan, we had a lovely moment. Yes, you you were
<v Speaker 1>sitting right across from me at this table.
<v Speaker 3>This is a video game. Oh that the circle flicky thing?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah that was great.
<v Speaker 6>I like that video games like I don't think I
<v Speaker 6>played a game there.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, weed the things.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, it was very very neat. Uh little tabletop
<v Speaker 1>or not tabletop? A board game? Thank you, thank you
<v Speaker 1>just waiting, Dan, I'm just letting you know.
<v Speaker 3>I was debating it and then you said it's.
<v Speaker 2>Like all right, yeah, thanks, I appreciate it.
<v Speaker 1>Dan, if you want, I got a lot of audio
<v Speaker 1>clips from Portal Pals. Uh oh do you? Yes?
<v Speaker 4>Please?
<v Speaker 1>Please? A lot of a lot of clean audio.
<v Speaker 2>If you the swearing only cut of Porto Piles, it
<v Speaker 2>would still be about the same run time as healthy Show.
<v Speaker 1>Can't Yeah, wouldn't allow it. There was actually one thing
<v Speaker 1>that Barry yelled very loudly that I had to think of, like,
<v Speaker 1>should we actually cut this? Wow?
<v Speaker 4>I can't wait to see what that Barry gets canceled because.
<v Speaker 1>But Crocanole it's kind of like a shuffle board adjacent game.
<v Speaker 1>You and another person are flicking these little wooden discs.
<v Speaker 1>There's no sand on it or anything, is just straight
<v Speaker 1>up wood on wood And there are different quadrants and
<v Speaker 1>a general goal goal hole in the middle to sink
<v Speaker 1>your little crocodile one after another, one, one word after another.
<v Speaker 1>That's my that's my masterpiece, flicking it into the hole
<v Speaker 1>and everything. And I believe we didn't actually look up
<v Speaker 1>any official rules. Vitelli kind of just like dumped us
<v Speaker 1>into it. And there are different quadrants for potentially getting
<v Speaker 1>proper points. Dan and I were just like, what was
<v Speaker 1>that ball bearing game that had the best commercial?
<v Speaker 4>Yes, yeah, we just crossed style.
<v Speaker 6>I like it because, like I'm a big If I
<v Speaker 6>go to a bar and it's got either backy ball
<v Speaker 6>or shuffle board, I'm like, hell yeah, but both those
<v Speaker 6>things require quite a footprint in a in a space,
<v Speaker 6>whereas like this game was like a big wooden circle
<v Speaker 6>that you could get on a table.
<v Speaker 1>You know.
<v Speaker 2>We played this in boy Scouts in summer camp. Someone
<v Speaker 2>would throw one of these tables. We would just play
<v Speaker 2>the entire time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I thought I thought this was something new that
<v Speaker 1>Dan and I discovered.
<v Speaker 2>It's a nineteenth century Canadian dexterity board game. So those
<v Speaker 2>Canadians have been playing for a while.
<v Speaker 1>Wow. Shouts out to de dexterity board games. I didn't
<v Speaker 1>know that it was a genre.
<v Speaker 3>Didn't either. That sounds great. I can get into that.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, Jeff Grabb to wrap up Packs East Games. You
<v Speaker 1>also played, possibly a longer name of a game than
<v Speaker 1>the Super Mario one. You played, he Man and the
<v Speaker 1>Masters of the Universe Dragon Pearl of Destruction.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, this is the new one from Limited Limited run.
<v Speaker 2>This is an original game. It is a beat them up,
<v Speaker 2>and I thought it was right in line with those
<v Speaker 2>modern the modern era of beat him ups. Of Oh,
<v Speaker 2>they understand that it's a console game now and it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't need to be about inescapable attacks from enemies so
<v Speaker 2>that they do enough damage so you have to put
<v Speaker 2>in new quarters. They give you plenty of opportunities to
<v Speaker 2>avoid damage. The characters, at least. I played as he Man,
<v Speaker 2>big and heavy, fun to move around, fun to hit
<v Speaker 2>characters with. Felt like he had a pretty deep move set,
<v Speaker 2>but one that's not so deep. It's going to be overwhelming.
<v Speaker 2>It's not trying to be it's escaping me.
<v Speaker 4>Damn. What was the one that we did.
<v Speaker 2>This is the run of absolute absolute absolutely yea, absolutely, yeah. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's not trying to be deep like that, it's just
<v Speaker 2>trying to be more more Arcadie, but sort of kind
<v Speaker 2>of standing next to Street Streets of Age four.
<v Speaker 4>And I don't know if.
<v Speaker 2>It's going to be quite as good as that, but
<v Speaker 2>I definitely came away wanting to play more and also
<v Speaker 2>continuing to be very happy about this renaissance of beating ups.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, oh, yeah, they have figured that out. They
<v Speaker 2>have unlocked the fun in that genre. And I think
<v Speaker 2>they could just keep making these because as long as
<v Speaker 2>you kind of play to the strengths of the characters
<v Speaker 2>that you're putting into here, and it doesn't have to
<v Speaker 2>be licensed characters, you could do original stuff like bring
<v Speaker 2>back Golden Ax or something like that.
<v Speaker 1>All that stuff would work as well.
<v Speaker 4>I think they are bringing back Golden Altered Beast, Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>Altered Beasts, Yeah yeah, do a new Altered Beast that
<v Speaker 4>really tries to be a.
<v Speaker 2>Fun game this time. That would be awesome. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I was into it. I'm happy this game's coming out
<v Speaker 2>pretty soon. I think it's coming out in April, so
<v Speaker 2>people get a chance to play.
<v Speaker 4>With these big beefy pixels, right.
<v Speaker 2>I just that's what caught my eye when Audie Sorely
<v Speaker 2>originally showed this to me. Months ago when we actually
<v Speaker 2>we had him on the show and he was telling
<v Speaker 2>me about this they're working on it, and it was like, yeah, okay,
<v Speaker 2>that's awesome. And then I saw it. I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>this looks beautiful, so very happy. Did y'all know that
<v Speaker 2>they're making a he Man movie?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah the trailer or yeah, looks which it looks rich.
<v Speaker 4>He is though, but he is.
<v Speaker 3>Because big Jared Letto guy.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, there are many, many, many really who like thirty
<v Speaker 4>second stars, right, white women? Now, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Well he's Jordan Catalano. Dude, get your ship together?
<v Speaker 3>What does that mean?
<v Speaker 1>What my so called so called life? You kidding? Are
<v Speaker 1>you kidding?
<v Speaker 4>Do you know the links in which people, specifically middle
<v Speaker 4>aged white women will go, oh yeah, they like it.
<v Speaker 2>That's pretty and that still goes a long way.
<v Speaker 1>That's the demo I'm constantly trying to attract.
<v Speaker 5>Anyway, he killed Tron, Yeah, the franchis. Yeah, oh uh,
<v Speaker 5>he doesn't even movie that.
<v Speaker 4>Movie called Tron. He didn't even have Tron in it,
<v Speaker 4>your Tron movies for Tron. He's a guy.
<v Speaker 3>There's a Ron and tron y.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, Jeff Tron.
<v Speaker 3>I thought Tron is just a little bit of a bike game.
<v Speaker 4>For Google.
<v Speaker 5>I'm not gonna I'm not gonna like die on the
<v Speaker 5>Jared Leto hill here. I think his band sucks. I
<v Speaker 5>don't enjoy most of anything he does. But just done
<v Speaker 5>some decent acting. He's going to run right now of
<v Speaker 5>poisoning Big brand. Yes, that's all that right. Every time
<v Speaker 5>he shows he's the cooler, he's a cooler. We were
<v Speaker 5>going to do a good movie. Then Jared Leto showed up.
<v Speaker 5>He's like, I am id for tron as. People like,
<v Speaker 5>what again?
<v Speaker 1>Stop him?
<v Speaker 5>Yes he has, but I understand the deep dislike people
<v Speaker 5>have for him, especially you know, triggered by the original
<v Speaker 5>Joker situation.
<v Speaker 1>Of course. Yeah, he definitely that Xbox heat for sure. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>I'm trying to speak Dan's like.
<v Speaker 4>I know, I understand God, I know what that is,
<v Speaker 4>I know who that is.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, all right, one, two, three are right moving on along.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you, thank you, thank you. That was that almost
<v Speaker 1>felt like a garbage transition. But that's okay because Jeff
<v Speaker 1>Grubb is here playing junk Runners, that's right.
<v Speaker 4>Have any of you heard of junk Runners, like one
<v Speaker 4>of yours.
<v Speaker 3>It's a trailer where there's trucks and tornadoes and stuff.
<v Speaker 2>No, that'd be actually, that would be awesome. It's nothing
<v Speaker 2>like that. It's actually the real name is Junk Runners
<v Speaker 2>sixty four. And so you guys, you know it's a
<v Speaker 2>sixty four game. You guys probably heard of that then,
<v Speaker 2>right Dan, come on? Oh yes, yes, yes you haven't
<v Speaker 2>because this just came out two weeks ago.
<v Speaker 3>No I'm saying I've heard of the Nintendo sixty four.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, yeah, I'm saying, like, yeah, it's a new
<v Speaker 2>n sixty four game though, So it's someone like went back.
<v Speaker 2>It runs on shoot in sixty four hardware.
<v Speaker 4>It is an open world that is the size of
<v Speaker 4>Skyrim with incredible draw distance that solves the problem with
<v Speaker 4>draw distance on the n sixty four. It does not
<v Speaker 4>do that.
<v Speaker 1>This is so cool.
<v Speaker 2>He has a video where he does explain it, and
<v Speaker 2>it's kind of ingenious. So there's a bunch of reasons
<v Speaker 2>why the draw distance on N sixty four is a problem,
<v Speaker 2>and only part of it is performance. A big part
<v Speaker 2>of it is anytime they start giving it more draw distance,
<v Speaker 2>there is a fight in the computer about which object
<v Speaker 2>it should draw first, and it becomes a jumbled mess
<v Speaker 2>very quickly. After a few hundred meters, so they kind
<v Speaker 2>of get with the solution for all the games on
<v Speaker 2>the N sixty four was use the fog to blur things.
<v Speaker 2>This solves it by when you're close, it has that
<v Speaker 2>standard in sixty four draw distance, and it will draw
<v Speaker 2>in things at a certain.
<v Speaker 4>Level of detail.
<v Speaker 2>If it's far away, which it does for like the
<v Speaker 2>top half of the screen, it's sort of like layers
<v Speaker 2>it behind.
<v Speaker 1>The near stuff.
<v Speaker 4>It scales everything up, so they're basically giant, like you're
<v Speaker 4>for that side of the world.
<v Speaker 2>You're like a little guy in a giant world. But
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't look that way because they just have these
<v Speaker 2>less detailed polygons and models that look good enough on
<v Speaker 2>the N sixty four that it just becomes this seamless
<v Speaker 2>open world.
<v Speaker 4>Now it's a.
<v Speaker 2>It is what's it called when you they live the
<v Speaker 2>two weeks and they're like just sort of putting together
<v Speaker 2>a game fortnight a game jam, so a fortnite worth.
<v Speaker 4>Of game jam. It is.
<v Speaker 2>They the idea is, hey, we're going to see if
<v Speaker 2>we can make this work. And he might have had
<v Speaker 2>longer than two weeks, but it was a game jam,
<v Speaker 2>so it was a certain amount of time. So it's
<v Speaker 2>a pretty simple game, but he found some way to
<v Speaker 2>like make it fun and to play into the gimmicks.
<v Speaker 1>Like you get these.
<v Speaker 4>Maps that show you a crude representation of the world,
<v Speaker 4>and you need to go explore the world and unlock
<v Speaker 4>the real map that you have to match up these
<v Speaker 4>map chunks and find like gears and stuff, and then
<v Speaker 4>you take it back to your home base, and there's
<v Speaker 4>these things you need to fix, and then there's there's
<v Speaker 4>a cool little fixing mini game where you got to
<v Speaker 4>like move the objects around in a three D world,
<v Speaker 4>line them up correctly, and repair your machinery or whatever.
<v Speaker 4>It's super well done, really cool, and I yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>got running on the analog three D this morning.
<v Speaker 2>It was just playing like an hour's worth of it.
<v Speaker 2>I was just I cannot believe that in its sixty
<v Speaker 2>four game can look this way.
<v Speaker 1>It's wow.
<v Speaker 3>You can put it on never drive, played on a
<v Speaker 3>like actual obvious is doing.
<v Speaker 5>It's so on paper, this could have been done in
<v Speaker 5>that general.
<v Speaker 2>There's nothing that would have prevented them from doing this better.
<v Speaker 4>Except like institutional knowledge like it Like this is why
<v Speaker 4>like late and sixty four games can look better than
<v Speaker 4>early in sixty four games, Like what if we just
<v Speaker 4>so you're saying they were stupid back then, Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I'd like that all bad at their jobs.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they were like figuring out that Silicon Graphics hardware
<v Speaker 2>while they were making Mario sixty four and Mario sixty
<v Speaker 2>four in terms of like the performance and optimization.
<v Speaker 1>Is a complete mess, and people have like.
<v Speaker 4>Optimized that over a time and got it thrown out
<v Speaker 4>the sixty frames per second on the in sixty four.
<v Speaker 4>So yeah, like Nintendo didn't really have the documentation to
<v Speaker 4>teach any one what they knew, let alone the things
<v Speaker 4>they didn't know. There's just ingenious ways of using the
<v Speaker 4>weakness of the hardware as an advantage. This is really
<v Speaker 4>really impressive.
<v Speaker 6>I can feel myself getting ready to dip my toes
<v Speaker 6>into the decompiled stuff. Yes, that like Ship mar Kenny
<v Speaker 6>and Ocarina stuff. And I got a friend who perhaps
<v Speaker 6>was going to give me a bunch of other games
<v Speaker 6>that have been decompiled soon, and I'm looking at the list,
<v Speaker 6>I'm like, oh, Star Fox sixty four, we would like
<v Speaker 6>to do some more Mario, you know, at like two
<v Speaker 6>hundred and forty frames a second like that sounds pretty fun.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, man, I would you. I've been very star fucks
<v Speaker 1>curious the last couple of days because of we'll talk
<v Speaker 1>about in the news, But what starfaux game do I go?
<v Speaker 4>Sixty sixty four?
<v Speaker 3>It's just sixty four.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it's sixty four, is the answer.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, that's not the third person action one with the
<v Speaker 1>Blue Fox lady. I know, jan Is.
<v Speaker 6>I like the Superintendent one is very good because it's
<v Speaker 6>kind of head of its sime. As far as three
<v Speaker 6>D on console, not great to play. Now, I've got
<v Speaker 6>a nostalider for it. Sixty four I've been a nostlier
<v Speaker 6>for it, and it's also incredible to play now sixty
<v Speaker 6>fours and then everything after that. You just won sixty
<v Speaker 6>four and they won't give it to you, So just
<v Speaker 6>play sixty four. The three DS version's.
<v Speaker 1>Great, okay, okay, noted, Thank you man, thank you.
<v Speaker 4>I'm making fun watching like not much body Harvest, right
<v Speaker 4>because like that's kind of the like the actual open
<v Speaker 4>world and sixty four again that we had and you
<v Speaker 4>know it's fog City, baby.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>When the fog was like, it's like, oh, why don't
<v Speaker 2>they just do more pop in? And the reason was
<v Speaker 2>they like it was really hard for them to figure
<v Speaker 2>out that that long draw distance tag even have a
<v Speaker 2>background layer. So yeah, it's it was a shame with
<v Speaker 2>a lot of those games ended up looking like but
<v Speaker 2>this is like, oh man, alternate reality.
<v Speaker 1>I did.
<v Speaker 6>I did unintentionally yell out the phrase blast core while
<v Speaker 6>watching The Sopranos recently, with yeah, they're just cutting like
<v Speaker 6>Anthony Junior's flame blast worm.
<v Speaker 1>I know that as you do as you yes, of course.
<v Speaker 6>Oh, Chatti Sanger's Symphony. The Night Decompilation project is almost done.
<v Speaker 6>Uh what what is that really? That's what would that do?
<v Speaker 1>Well?
<v Speaker 4>Sprites, widescreen budge of them. I mean, yeah, you can wait,
<v Speaker 4>well you put her on PC for one thing, which
<v Speaker 4>it actually isn't, which is insant. Right, So there's not
<v Speaker 4>like a native PC version of that game, but I
<v Speaker 4>just have to emulate it. Someone can make a mod
<v Speaker 4>for the PC version to like have it become multiplayer
<v Speaker 4>or something like that. Co Op you got some sprite
<v Speaker 4>swap pretty easily and things like that, and.
<v Speaker 6>Oka, yeah, I guess yeah, because I don't know that
<v Speaker 6>like tech end of it. I just whenever I've heard
<v Speaker 6>decomp whatever, it is a decompilation. It's just been like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>we unlocked the frame rate and everything looks incredible, and
<v Speaker 6>like that's what I've seen, so yeah, that's.
<v Speaker 4>The byproduct of the decompilation.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I see was picturing like what a sprite thing
<v Speaker 3>would look like, you.
<v Speaker 1>Know, fantastic. And to cap things off, Jeff Grabb, you
<v Speaker 1>have played another game, another collection for the folks at home.
<v Speaker 1>This time it is Marvel Max, a Mum collection. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I just I forgot this was coming out and I
<v Speaker 2>came home like I was tucking to Fineale and he's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's that's out today while we were at Packmon. When
<v Speaker 2>I get home, I will download that and play it,
<v Speaker 2>and uh, it is what another slick collection.
<v Speaker 4>I'll say that. You know, these games are very much
<v Speaker 4>like a lot of people just had these.
<v Speaker 2>One way and the other two. The play where I
<v Speaker 2>was playing it and stuff like heard it and it
<v Speaker 2>came downstairs and was like are you playing that Venom game?
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, yeah, she was watching. It's like yeah, I
<v Speaker 2>played this all summer one summer and beat that game.
<v Speaker 2>It's like yeah, everyone just has experience with it, and
<v Speaker 2>to that end, it is really good to just go
<v Speaker 2>back check in on it. I did a comparison of like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>here's Maximum Carnage on the Super Nintendo where I played it,
<v Speaker 2>and now here it is on the Genesis, and I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I do notice some differences, and it's always fun to
<v Speaker 2>do that, and they present it in an easy enough
<v Speaker 2>way that it makes it simple to bounce between all
<v Speaker 2>these different versions. It has the online multiplayer for the
<v Speaker 2>X Men Arcade game, which I've not used yet, but
<v Speaker 2>that is very enticing. I know that's rolled back net code,
<v Speaker 2>which just really says there they are doing enough to
<v Speaker 2>care enough to implement that and to a beat them up.
<v Speaker 2>That's pretty neat. And then yeah, the rest of the games,
<v Speaker 2>like of Captain America and The Avengers, So yeah, you
<v Speaker 2>could play the Arcade one, which is actually like pretty
<v Speaker 2>impressive looking at the data East one, so it's not
<v Speaker 2>going to look as good as some other games from
<v Speaker 2>the time, but it looks way better than the anys
<v Speaker 2>support of that, which is what I grew up on.
<v Speaker 1>And this also in this collection.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, Yeah, it's fun to go back to that
<v Speaker 2>and remember renting this game a million times and then
<v Speaker 2>to see what I could have gotten had I played
<v Speaker 2>this game ever in the Arcade, which I might have
<v Speaker 2>done once or twice.
<v Speaker 5>I remember the obviously everyone remembers X Men, but I
<v Speaker 5>remember playing a lot of the Captain in America. Really
<v Speaker 5>yeah it was, which was like pretty good. Yeah, it
<v Speaker 5>was like kind of like the scene. Oh, it was
<v Speaker 5>just it was it was. It was just like a
<v Speaker 5>little more harder to find. It's just like wherever, like
<v Speaker 5>every arcade had an X Men. Yes, whether or not
<v Speaker 5>they had the Captain America and the Avengers is another story.
<v Speaker 5>But like the uh that game ball place that took
<v Speaker 5>you guys, do they have one? And the first time
<v Speaker 5>I saw it, I was I had forgotten about.
<v Speaker 4>It for thirty years. Yeah, and then I was like, oh.
<v Speaker 2>Right, it's just you know, it's data East versus Konami,
<v Speaker 2>like the X Men Arcade game really obviously well made,
<v Speaker 2>and there's it takes a little bit of you know,
<v Speaker 2>to bring some love to Captain America and the Avengers
<v Speaker 2>to really get the most out out of it. But
<v Speaker 2>I still think it's worth playing.
<v Speaker 1>I seeing this collection, I just forgot how dominant like
<v Speaker 1>Venom and the X Men were over this whole time.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, yeah, there.
<v Speaker 1>Was the ninety nineties.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, like there's things. That
<v Speaker 4>Silver Surfer Game for n S is you know, infamously difficult.
<v Speaker 4>It was a really good soundtrack though. Yeah, Maximum Carnage
<v Speaker 4>I had, some people had that. It's not some amazing game,
<v Speaker 4>but it was kind of iconic of that era, THEA game.
<v Speaker 4>So there was a red cartridge cartridge yeah, yeah, and
<v Speaker 4>I never played it. I didn't even know it had
<v Speaker 4>a sequel back in the day.
<v Speaker 2>Separation Anxiety.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, because that's the name of because well, Maximum Carnage
<v Speaker 4>was the name of a comics series, and Separation Anxiety
<v Speaker 4>was the name of another comic I think leaving one
<v Speaker 4>of the characters or something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 6>So I rented the Silver Surfer game. I remember thinking
<v Speaker 6>like it was way too hard, but for a game
<v Speaker 6>Genie game one where you just kind of like put
<v Speaker 6>in a bunch of codes and that really liked that
<v Speaker 6>game a lot. And then it's not in this collection,
<v Speaker 6>but uh, do you remember the wolverine in the S
<v Speaker 6>game adamandget I think that's real and great music again,
<v Speaker 6>but it drove me fucking insane that like you want
<v Speaker 6>to use the clause you selected bring them out and
<v Speaker 6>then it takes your help down. It's like one of
<v Speaker 6>those moves in a brawler where it's like, oh, it's good,
<v Speaker 6>but it takes your own health away. All I want
<v Speaker 6>to do is claw things. Is Wolverine, and it's just
<v Speaker 6>like killing you every time you do.
<v Speaker 4>It right, And a character who famously regenerates itself at
<v Speaker 4>all times something taking damage and using his clause pretty dumb.
<v Speaker 3>They should make a new Wolverine game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, not not too violent though, just like an
<v Speaker 1>even amount of violence, folks. That does it for video
<v Speaker 1>game talk?
<v Speaker 4>Doesn't you forgot one?
<v Speaker 1>Well? Did you put it on the document?
<v Speaker 4>I did?
<v Speaker 3>Oh, Mike snap at him.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, oh.
<v Speaker 1>Well some of the guy at the gate is getting that. Actually,
<v Speaker 1>you know, I got my recording. I will, I will
<v Speaker 1>own up my own mistake here. And I think I
<v Speaker 1>had to put my blinders on because of the like
<v Speaker 1>the little raccoon that I am, and that if I
<v Speaker 1>have played this extensively already, and the more that I
<v Speaker 1>play of it, the worse my life is going to
<v Speaker 1>go be Because we are talking about rack Cooin, the
<v Speaker 1>coin pusher game. Dan, Mike, you've been playing a lot
<v Speaker 1>of this.
<v Speaker 6>I'm like probably six seven hours into it, I think, Mike,
<v Speaker 6>you've played a good a mountain, right.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm somewhere around then. Uh yeah, yeah, I like
<v Speaker 4>still I definitely enjoy playing it. I still am not
<v Speaker 4>sure exactly how I feel about it. It's it's a
<v Speaker 4>real feast or fathom one of these kind of games.
<v Speaker 4>It feels like either I got nothing going on and
<v Speaker 4>those runs are dying really fast and I'm like sure,
<v Speaker 4>really struggling to get past the goal, or it's almost automatic,
<v Speaker 4>how easily I'm blitzing through it.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, like the highs are high where it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 6>I got this spin. It's a coin pusher roguelike, so
<v Speaker 6>imagine Bilatro, but instead of poker, it's a coin pusher
<v Speaker 6>like from a bowling alley arcade.
<v Speaker 4>And so like you'll get said fast like sorry, I
<v Speaker 4>said Fathom instead of famine, and now Chat's making fun
<v Speaker 4>of me. I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 1>You didn't have to point it out. Now people are
<v Speaker 1>gonna point it out more.
<v Speaker 4>Gottess I have to suff report.
<v Speaker 6>So you'll get like you can do these like spins,
<v Speaker 6>like a spin of a wheel or whatever, when you
<v Speaker 6>get a combo and they'll create like a huge tower
<v Speaker 6>of coins and it's so satisfying because like every coin
<v Speaker 6>do is have like a really good physics to like
<v Speaker 6>that's the whole game, is the physics of like the
<v Speaker 6>coins falling down. And so let's say it's good enough
<v Speaker 6>to just get the tower, but then it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>you can get like these exploding coins or all these
<v Speaker 6>different ways you can like, oh, I got this power
<v Speaker 6>up that's gonna like change every coin within this radius,
<v Speaker 6>and that can change the size of it and cause
<v Speaker 6>the whole tower to fall down, and suddenly you've got like,
<v Speaker 6>you know, thirty times the amount of points you need.
<v Speaker 3>To clear this particular stage or whatever.
<v Speaker 6>Like there's moments where I'm like hell yeah, but then
<v Speaker 6>there are also a lot of moments where it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 6>I am just kind of like think think, think, think, think.
<v Speaker 6>Just kind of throwing the coins in, because you can
<v Speaker 6>pick from the left or the right as far as
<v Speaker 6>the where the coins come in, and every round you
<v Speaker 6>get a certain amount, like let's say you get twelve fifteen,
<v Speaker 6>you know, you can get different things that adjust that,
<v Speaker 6>and then you have the one that kind of goes
<v Speaker 6>back and forth, and that's the special coins, and so
<v Speaker 6>you'll have all these ones with these special coins where
<v Speaker 6>it's like, okay, this one's a bunny and if a
<v Speaker 6>bunny coin touches another bunny coin, it will breed one
<v Speaker 6>or two other bunny coins. So you can try to
<v Speaker 6>do stuff like okay, going to get all these together
<v Speaker 6>in one spot here, and then these are like shit coins,
<v Speaker 6>and then if you fertilize the shit it turns into this,
<v Speaker 6>or if if you water the plant coin. There's just
<v Speaker 6>a lot of different coin types going on, and it's
<v Speaker 6>kind of hard to track, like if you hover over
<v Speaker 6>any of it, it'll tell you, but like they're always moving,
<v Speaker 6>and so you have to like pin. There's like a
<v Speaker 6>way you can pin the description, which is a little odd,
<v Speaker 6>a little clumsy.
<v Speaker 1>It's very visually dense and busy, especially like the later
<v Speaker 1>if you're having a good run. But I've like off
<v Speaker 1>found myself also Dan just like wait, what is my build?
<v Speaker 1>What am I going for?
<v Speaker 4>Oh?
<v Speaker 1>That coin is here.
<v Speaker 6>Too, right, Yeah, And it can definitely, like in the
<v Speaker 6>early hours, overwhelm you with stuff where it's like, Okay,
<v Speaker 6>this autofill thing came in and said it's one out
<v Speaker 6>of ten autofill. I don't know what I did to
<v Speaker 6>trigger that. I don't know how I get more of it.
<v Speaker 6>I don't know how I see how many I have left,
<v Speaker 6>And it's just kind of through playing you kind of realize, like, Okay,
<v Speaker 6>if I clear out one big area here, I have
<v Speaker 6>a certain amount of autofills that can kind of fill
<v Speaker 6>in the space with coins and stuff like that. But
<v Speaker 6>it is just constantly throwing like a billion things like
<v Speaker 6>that at you, and you just kind of have to
<v Speaker 6>figure it out. Some of the stuff is well tracked
<v Speaker 6>on screen. Some stuff is just kind of tricky, and
<v Speaker 6>like there's power ups that I still don't really know
<v Speaker 6>how to use properly, Like, oh, I got this fragile
<v Speaker 6>fish thing that lets me put a fish skeleton somewhere
<v Speaker 6>on the lower level of the coin pusher, And so
<v Speaker 6>I realized conceptually I could direct coins in a particular
<v Speaker 6>way I kind of funnel them. But I still haven't
<v Speaker 6>gotten to the level of strategy where I see why
<v Speaker 6>that would be super useful, you know, Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>And parties like do I cause some of the coins
<v Speaker 4>are good to keep in the playfield and not score
<v Speaker 4>something like am I just using the fish to keep
<v Speaker 4>those coins in play? Maybe it's a lot to keep
<v Speaker 4>track of Sometimes I do kind of feel like that
<v Speaker 4>Moonnight meme, like random shit go, like I'm kind of
<v Speaker 4>throwing everything out there. Yeah, you know, partably feels bad
<v Speaker 4>comparing all these two Bulatro, but also Blatro exists, and
<v Speaker 4>so that.
<v Speaker 2>Real quick, that was gonna be my question because on
<v Speaker 2>the ride home from the airport, I started playing Bulatro
<v Speaker 2>again and I was like, well, should I just play Recoin?
<v Speaker 2>And I'm like, look, I get this genre now, and
<v Speaker 2>I love that. I do like that the people are
<v Speaker 2>roughing on it. I'm like, I have no like moral
<v Speaker 2>case against these games. I wouldn't want to feel that way,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm like, well, some of the are gonna have
<v Speaker 2>to do a lot more than what they're doing to
<v Speaker 2>just be like, why wouldn't I play Bolattro instead?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, it's you know, I think we saw this to
<v Speaker 6>another degree with clover Pit, which I was like, okay,
<v Speaker 6>what if instead of poker it was a slot machine
<v Speaker 6>rogue light and we blattrod that up and like that
<v Speaker 6>had a lot of cool aesthetics and the idea was
<v Speaker 6>but then it's like, okay, well, pulling the slot machine
<v Speaker 6>lever is not as fun as like doing poker strategy,
<v Speaker 6>whereas this is significantly better than Cloverpit. I would say,
<v Speaker 6>I'm been doing this more than that, but it's well
<v Speaker 6>below the heights of Blatro again, which is an insane
<v Speaker 6>comparison because Blatro is like one of the best games
<v Speaker 6>ever at this point. But if you're looking for, like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>this is the blottro of coin pushers, it's not quite bad,
<v Speaker 6>you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Slots and Daggers was another roguelike slot machine game
<v Speaker 1>that came out last year, also didn't quite hit those
<v Speaker 1>highs that that Blocher was able to do. Y'all think
<v Speaker 1>we're gonna quickly run out of casino roguelike games because
<v Speaker 1>I feel like we're there now.
<v Speaker 4>Oh so figure like, you know, Dan's talking about how
<v Speaker 4>much it likes Bachi, and I know it's like casino,
<v Speaker 4>but I'm like a Bochi roguelike. Interesting, it's gonna be
<v Speaker 4>so thinks. Part of it even here, though, is how
<v Speaker 4>much at a base level, how much fun is a
<v Speaker 4>coin pusher compared to poker at a base like, coin
<v Speaker 4>pushers are dog shit, there's not really a game.
<v Speaker 1>Now.
<v Speaker 4>There's a lot of great sights and sounds, and I
<v Speaker 4>think we're coin's very good at you know, it feels good,
<v Speaker 4>it sounds good. I like the coin physics a lot,
<v Speaker 4>and I still am enjoying myself when I'm playing it,
<v Speaker 4>but it's not reaching the highs of this genre for me.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, I'm calling it here bingo boom blocks. But that's
<v Speaker 1>what I want.
<v Speaker 6>I want, said Bachi. I was thinking, like, yeah, give
<v Speaker 6>me but a wee remote.
<v Speaker 1>I need to remote. Yeah, let's do it.
<v Speaker 5>Okay, Okay, there's not a Botchi we game.
<v Speaker 2>There might be, but one one that has the roguelike progression.
<v Speaker 2>I bet I bet the closest we got was a
<v Speaker 2>curling part of an Olympics game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, all right, folks, Well we're gonna go hit the
<v Speaker 1>slots and take a quick breaking break and we'll be
<v Speaker 1>back with the news unless I forgot anything else. You're clear.
<v Speaker 5>I just like want to buy dice? Now? Is that
<v Speaker 5>what happens when you leave?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Because now they got glasses with dice on them, or
<v Speaker 1>like glass glasses holders the string things, but now they're
<v Speaker 1>dangling dice all over them.
<v Speaker 5>Dangling dice, dangle dice. Yeah, they bought dice last year.
<v Speaker 5>And she's like, don't worry I'm not gonna buy any
<v Speaker 5>more Dice, And I'm.
<v Speaker 1>Like, Dice, is it because it's crystal adjacent.
<v Speaker 4>I think you hit the nail on the head.
<v Speaker 1>There, Jan there we go. We're gonna go take quick
<v Speaker 1>break or break. We'll be back with the news right
<v Speaker 1>after this. This is Jeff oh oh oh, I also forgot.
<v Speaker 1>I went to Coso Fest. The videos out now go
<v Speaker 1>check that out. I send it. That's a tremendous news.
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Grubb. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Uh, Nintendo leaks, they're happening.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo is planning a new Starbucks in a major Zelda
<v Speaker 2>remake this year, but no, no three d Mario, Uh
<v Speaker 2>the room is that soon, like in the summertime, maybe
<v Speaker 2>even the early part of summer. Following his appearance in
<v Speaker 2>the Super Mario Galaxy movie, Fox mcclub will return in
<v Speaker 2>a new Starfucks game that calls back to the classic
<v Speaker 2>Starfox style and then has very impressive visuals and online multiplayer,
<v Speaker 2>and it could be out in June or July, you know,
<v Speaker 2>maybe later in the summer. But it just doesn't sound
<v Speaker 2>like that's the case. So the rumor mill is making
<v Speaker 2>it sound like it's much sooner than that. The other
<v Speaker 2>side of this is okay, well, are we still going
<v Speaker 2>to get it that three D Mario this year that
<v Speaker 2>people keep talking up as a possibility, despite the fact
<v Speaker 2>that Bonanza happened, And you know the reason for that
<v Speaker 2>would be, we are getting that Mario movie. And it's
<v Speaker 2>been the fortieth anniversary of Mario this entire time going
<v Speaker 2>up until the movie. It's like, well, no, it sounds
<v Speaker 2>like once that movie happens, they will shift focus to
<v Speaker 2>the fortieth anniversary of Zelda instead. And to go along
<v Speaker 2>with that, they're going to apparently have a pretty big
<v Speaker 2>budget remake of the Legend of Zelda Akarina time for
<v Speaker 2>the N sixty four a remix, not a remaster like
<v Speaker 2>for the three DS, A full remake. And yeah, that
<v Speaker 2>sounds cool as well. There are other rumors, but we
<v Speaker 2>could start there. I think that sounds pretty cool to me. Now,
<v Speaker 2>Star Fox coming back is great.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, Greb, these are two things that I would be
<v Speaker 6>very excited about.
<v Speaker 1>Now.
<v Speaker 6>I just like, I've just seen like a headline or
<v Speaker 6>something about this. This is the most exactly heard about it. Now,
<v Speaker 6>what percent are you, like, if you you know we're
<v Speaker 6>putting money on this or whatever, what percent certainty would
<v Speaker 6>you have about so.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, A or B here happening.
<v Speaker 2>That's why we're starting with the Star foxs and Zelda
<v Speaker 2>stuff because this stuff seems pretty likely. I think this
<v Speaker 2>is it seems very like so Nate the Hayte originally
<v Speaker 2>said it very good Nintendo track record recently, and then
<v Speaker 2>VGC backed it up with their own reporting and their
<v Speaker 2>own sources, and it lines up with like stuff that
<v Speaker 2>I hear that I can never verify from people that
<v Speaker 2>give me stuff that's sometimes right and sometimes wrong, so
<v Speaker 2>I just never repeat anything myself. But I've heard similar
<v Speaker 2>stuff to this, especially when it comes to Zelda. But
<v Speaker 2>you hear about that every year, so I've not been
<v Speaker 2>able to confirm it. But I trust VGC and natean
<v Speaker 2>Hate on this one. So I think these both are
<v Speaker 2>very likely. Now, there was this weird thing here where
<v Speaker 2>in the lead up to these rumors, there was some
<v Speaker 2>like a post about Hey, we're gonna talk about the
<v Speaker 2>future of Nintendo. What are your predictions, And one of
<v Speaker 2>the comments said both of these things exactly, that there
<v Speaker 2>would be a Star Fox and Zelda thing, and then
<v Speaker 2>they said there's also going to be a couple of
<v Speaker 2>Super Metroid things, or a couple of metrod things, a
<v Speaker 2>remake of Super Metroid that keeps a pixelated style coming
<v Speaker 2>from Mercury Steam, and then a new Metroid game that
<v Speaker 2>is a follow up to Dread. That one I'm a
<v Speaker 2>little bit less certain about, but I do think that
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo is probably gonna have Mercury Steam make a new
<v Speaker 2>Metroid game. Do they do a Super Metroid as well.
<v Speaker 2>That's the one that's hard for me to really begin believing,
<v Speaker 2>because I would like to see that, but I also
<v Speaker 2>think that's such a perilous thing to try to pull off.
<v Speaker 4>The Metroid stuff. I'll believe when I hear more yes,
<v Speaker 4>you know the uh yeah, what's going on here with
<v Speaker 4>star Fuck's Zelda. It just it just makes sense. It
<v Speaker 4>feels like we've been been hearing about Opera at a Time
<v Speaker 4>remake a little bit even before this. That rumor has
<v Speaker 4>kind of been swirling around her, and it makes a
<v Speaker 4>lot of sense. Akera Time is still kind of the
<v Speaker 4>Zelda game. The last remake was in twenty eleven, a
<v Speaker 4>lot of time. There's now more time from now to
<v Speaker 4>then than that remake in the original release in ninety eight.
<v Speaker 4>That's so yeah, right, isn't that wild? And this time,
<v Speaker 4>you know, I bet it might be a bit more
<v Speaker 4>than just a graph. Well, I think there might be
<v Speaker 4>a bit more to it, and I'd be very excited.
<v Speaker 2>I think it'll be somewhere between Crisis Core and are
<v Speaker 2>You Two in terms of style remake. But I think
<v Speaker 2>it's going to be a big boy remake.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah right right, just a format of the game, Like
<v Speaker 6>I think that would still be awesome even like removed
<v Speaker 6>from Nostaloga. It'd be so cool if like a new
<v Speaker 6>generation could play ak Arena, because it really is a
<v Speaker 6>perfect Zelda.
<v Speaker 4>Yea, I don't think again, Like, I don't think you
<v Speaker 4>need to do a whole lot necessarily, but some call
<v Speaker 4>of life of maybe some editing, maybe some surprises. Right,
<v Speaker 4>That's what so good about the RESI Aver remakes is
<v Speaker 4>that like, oh this, this idea here has been expanded
<v Speaker 4>upon or twisted around a little bit. Stuff like that
<v Speaker 4>could be really cool. And then yeah, Starfucks it's been
<v Speaker 4>a long time. Star Fucks has been licking its wounds
<v Speaker 4>a bit since the start four zero. I mean for
<v Speaker 4>a while. If they've had as they've struggled to yeah,
<v Speaker 4>kind of get something going again. The closest was just
<v Speaker 4>the remake of Starbucks sixty for on the three DS.
<v Speaker 4>So you go back to that, you make a classic style.
<v Speaker 4>The challenge there is how are people going to feel
<v Speaker 4>about that? Because those games are kind of short. Now
<v Speaker 4>you're supposed to play them a bunch of different times
<v Speaker 4>and see different routes, and maybe they're gonna be able
<v Speaker 4>to kind of get that across. Maybe they rogue like
<v Speaker 4>it up a little bit to really kind of emphasize
<v Speaker 4>the rogue that kind of you know, you play this
<v Speaker 4>game a lot different times aspects of it, but Boy
<v Speaker 4>on roll shooters in general just feel like they've been
<v Speaker 4>kind of missing for a while. Indies have been picking
<v Speaker 4>up that slag a bit, but I would love to
<v Speaker 4>see what it looks like for a Nintendo to make
<v Speaker 4>a spiffy breed on real shooter. In twenty twenty six.
<v Speaker 6>I'm looking back at my review of star Fox zero
<v Speaker 6>for the WU, which is now almost exactly ten years old,
<v Speaker 6>and I gave it two out of five stars for
<v Speaker 6>star Fox zero, and I end the review by saying,
<v Speaker 6>Nintendo finally released the Star Fox game that I thought
<v Speaker 6>I wanted, but it leaves me wondering what plays Fox
<v Speaker 6>McLeod has in today's gaming landscape. Oh it's your faulty
<v Speaker 6>years ago. Yeah, I killed Fox McLeod.
<v Speaker 2>All these things that we're talking about makes sense from
<v Speaker 2>the perspective of Nintendo seems pretty focused on the movies.
<v Speaker 2>So there was Fox McLeod on the poster for the
<v Speaker 2>Super Mario Galaxy movie, and that made a lot of
<v Speaker 2>people start to say, Hey, maybe they are going to
<v Speaker 2>have a new game for Fox McLoud and Star Fox,
<v Speaker 2>the way that they had for Donkey Kong when he
<v Speaker 2>showed up in the first movie. And now it does
<v Speaker 2>seem like that's the case. And they have the Zelda
<v Speaker 2>movie coming up, and that movie's very likely can have
<v Speaker 2>at least at the very least, it's going to pull
<v Speaker 2>a lot from Mocker Yena of Time if it's not
<v Speaker 2>that exact plot, which it very well could be. So
<v Speaker 2>having that on the store shelf, they want that as well.
<v Speaker 2>And you know, Samus could appear in this Galaxy based
<v Speaker 2>Mario movie as well as if not a in credits thing,
<v Speaker 2>as just a very quick cameo, but just might see
<v Speaker 2>her ship in the background at some point, I bet
<v Speaker 2>exactly at the very least, right, So it does seem
<v Speaker 2>like Nintendo is trying to make these things synergize in
<v Speaker 2>a real way. So that's interesting. I wonder if that's
<v Speaker 2>something that just really lined up serendipitously, or if that's
<v Speaker 2>something they're going to continue to try to emphasize on
<v Speaker 2>in the future. I think it's probably that, probably the latter.
<v Speaker 1>If they make a Metroid movie animated.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I don't necessarily, I don't know. I don't not
<v Speaker 4>necessarily No, Okay, I would take Ceuda's honestly. I Zeuda's
<v Speaker 4>live action. I think I think I think they made
<v Speaker 4>us Metroid movie. I think it would be live action. Now,
<v Speaker 4>I think that those characters will appear and crossover stuff
<v Speaker 4>as animated, right sure, you know obviously like we're getting
<v Speaker 4>Fox with Cloud Nave the pick Man. I absolutely believe
<v Speaker 4>that we are building up to a super Smash Brothers
<v Speaker 4>movie at some point in our lives.
<v Speaker 1>Here.
<v Speaker 3>You guys seen Mario.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, my brother's going like tomorrow during the work day,
<v Speaker 4>and I'm like, don't you have a job.
<v Speaker 1>What the hell?
<v Speaker 4>I can't go see the Mario movie because my vigame job,
<v Speaker 4>and you can't being an electrical engineer. You just gotta
<v Speaker 4>take time off go of your family. What the hell
<v Speaker 4>is this?
<v Speaker 6>It worked great for the first one with us being
<v Speaker 6>in Universal, but like, yeah, I might just wait till
<v Speaker 6>it comes out on someone's plex surfer or something.
<v Speaker 4>Sure, really I definitely want to see it, so I.
<v Speaker 3>Bank would have no interest in it.
<v Speaker 6>So it's like, I don't think I care enough about
<v Speaker 6>this to go by myself, so I'll watch it at
<v Speaker 6>some point I'm plexed or something.
<v Speaker 4>I found out I'm going. I didn't know I I
<v Speaker 4>apparently I do have going to see it. Pretty was
<v Speaker 4>that initiated by dead or not?
<v Speaker 5>That was a DIB initiated uh discursions because deficitive Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>only for star fucks No, it's his birthday coming up,
<v Speaker 5>so I think they he wants to go and take
<v Speaker 5>a couple of friends and then obviously Hibachi you know car.
<v Speaker 4>Oh hell yeah, they did dab at at so powerful.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like I lost five years of my life,
<v Speaker 1>but I gave them to DIB.
<v Speaker 5>Yes, he's still talking about it.
<v Speaker 4>He should be.
<v Speaker 5>Like last night last night, before he got into the shower,
<v Speaker 5>he's like, you'll try and just come as close as
<v Speaker 5>you can to the to the jan dab I was like,
<v Speaker 5>I can't, I can't hang.
<v Speaker 1>But the dinner dib dab was generational.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, that's the neutrible day. The last aspect of this is,
<v Speaker 2>since all these rumors, who's been one more special Nick,
<v Speaker 2>who's had a pretty good record of Nintendo stuff recently,
<v Speaker 2>At the very least, say says a fall up to this.
<v Speaker 2>From what I've been told, we're getting a Zelda themed
<v Speaker 2>limited edition switched to console. Not sure if the will
<v Speaker 2>be bundled or not. And Nintendo, a company that has
<v Speaker 2>done that fifty times before, I find that very plausible,
<v Speaker 2>wouldn't be surprised at all. So we'll see fortyth anniversaries
<v Speaker 2>coming up. At the very least they'll do something.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, confirmed PS five price is going up by at
<v Speaker 4>least one hundred dollars. Yeah, right, Finally, finally, yes, Sony's.
<v Speaker 2>Raising the price on all their PlayStation five consoles. This
<v Speaker 2>goes into effect April second, so the day that we
<v Speaker 2>launched this podcast. If you're listening live or on Tuesday,
<v Speaker 2>you can still get one at the old price. I
<v Speaker 2>guess maybe they've sold out because people were rushing to
<v Speaker 2>pick them up. But again, across the board, they're going
<v Speaker 2>up by at least one hundred dollars. The PS five,
<v Speaker 2>this is the standard one with the disk drive, which
<v Speaker 2>started at five hundred dollars in twenty twenty, is now
<v Speaker 2>six hundred and fifty dollars. The PS five Digital Edition
<v Speaker 2>started at four hundred, has gone up fifty percent to
<v Speaker 2>six hundred dollars, and then the PS five Pro, which
<v Speaker 2>started at seven hundred is now nine hundred dollars. The
<v Speaker 2>PS Portal as well, the you know, the remote streaming
<v Speaker 2>device went up fifty from two hundred to two fifty.
<v Speaker 2>So across the board, this was I mean, it's expected
<v Speaker 2>and yet still shocking at the same time because we
<v Speaker 2>are so far into the generation that we're just not
<v Speaker 2>used to this.
<v Speaker 4>Still.
<v Speaker 2>Even though last generation things didn't go down in price
<v Speaker 2>all that much, it was a little bit kind of
<v Speaker 2>stagnant terms of getting deals, but it went down some
<v Speaker 2>and there was often like pretty pretty steep deals where
<v Speaker 2>you could save a lot of money in the holidays.
<v Speaker 2>That's mostly not happening here. And then the price just
<v Speaker 2>steadily keeps increasing. We have talked about the reasons for
<v Speaker 2>this at nauseam at this point, but it's all the
<v Speaker 2>stuff you've heard it's yes, ram component prices are going up.
<v Speaker 2>They also just seem to be in a defensive mood
<v Speaker 2>of or mode, I should say, where they're not trying
<v Speaker 2>to necessarily grow the audience. They're just trying to make
<v Speaker 2>as much from the audience that's there. And to me,
<v Speaker 2>that says the audience that's going to show up for
<v Speaker 2>Grand Theft Auto six. So when that comes out and
<v Speaker 2>GT six is only on consoles, not on PC and
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation's the default, they want to make sure this thing's
<v Speaker 2>priced to get the maximum amount of money from that
<v Speaker 2>as possible, and that this will set them up nice
<v Speaker 2>for that. But I wonder if it's a quebacfire where
<v Speaker 2>people are just like, I'm not going to pay.
<v Speaker 4>It's like six.
<v Speaker 2>Hundred and fifty dollars or whatever it is for the
<v Speaker 2>standard PS five when I knew I could have got
<v Speaker 2>it for a cheaper price before. Now I just don't
<v Speaker 2>want to participate at all.
<v Speaker 5>I think people are gonna pay. I'll tell you why.
<v Speaker 4>I be there too. Yeah, I will always gonna be
<v Speaker 4>fucking broken and also everything's broken.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 5>I hold that thought.
<v Speaker 4>Yay, I want to I want to hear it.
<v Speaker 5>Yet every month credit card debt eclipses the month before it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's I don't it is.
<v Speaker 5>It is as bad as you think it is. It's
<v Speaker 5>fifty times.
<v Speaker 4>I mean it's righting to collapse.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, So it's just to me, this is sort of
<v Speaker 5>just like kind of like deathbed shit, you know, where
<v Speaker 5>you're just like, hey, before I before I breathe in
<v Speaker 5>my last gasp of oxygen, raise the PS five one
<v Speaker 5>hundred dollars in price, please, like, I don't.
<v Speaker 2>Know, I'm going to It shows you actually how dire
<v Speaker 2>things are on all sides, because you would think if
<v Speaker 2>you are looking at an affordability crisis that is already
<v Speaker 2>ongoing and is only looking to get worse and potentially
<v Speaker 2>turn into you know, a complete societal debacle, you would
<v Speaker 2>as a company be like, we need to reposition our
<v Speaker 2>stuff to find ways to make it more affordable, to
<v Speaker 2>make a better deal. And they're they don't even view
<v Speaker 2>that as an option because for one, they don't know
<v Speaker 2>if they can grow into that audience, and then and
<v Speaker 2>then two, their costs are so high because they're getting
<v Speaker 2>slammed on components as well and tariffs and any number
<v Speaker 2>of other issues. So they are like in the face
<v Speaker 2>of people not being able to afford these things are
<v Speaker 2>still raising prices in an unprecedented way. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>it's bad across the board from all angles.
<v Speaker 4>This is worldwide.
<v Speaker 2>These were these prices. Yeah, and then yes, people will
<v Speaker 2>give you. I'm sure in chat people can throw it
<v Speaker 2>down some prices of what it's like in Australia and
<v Speaker 2>Canada that will blow your pants off in terms of
<v Speaker 2>just how astronomically the expensive they are.
<v Speaker 1>Do y'all think that this might potentially hurt GTA six sales.
<v Speaker 1>I know it's still gonna sell Gangbusters, but like, will
<v Speaker 1>it not sell it as much? Because yeah, because you
<v Speaker 1>can't do.
<v Speaker 4>An A B test of like, what's it like if
<v Speaker 4>the price didn't go up? Gosh, nine hundred dollars. I
<v Speaker 4>just have such a hard time wrapping my head around
<v Speaker 4>a console costing that.
<v Speaker 1>This was the other thing during past weekend, after we
<v Speaker 1>all learned the news, we just occasionally be at a
<v Speaker 1>side ark or just standing there and Mikey would just
<v Speaker 1>go nine hundred dollars.
<v Speaker 4>Right, It was a joke. I mean, I just kind
<v Speaker 4>of kept thinking about it all weekend, and I mean,
<v Speaker 4>I know, in our heads like, well, that's the premium one.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, it used to be that the midjed refresh
<v Speaker 4>kind of became the default one, and the Pro does
<v Speaker 4>not feel like the default one still. It feels very
<v Speaker 4>boutique and specialize. And I don't I don't know anybody
<v Speaker 4>in my real life who has one. I can't imagine
<v Speaker 4>having one of these. I am so curious how many
<v Speaker 4>the PS five being expective that's crazy also, and maybe
<v Speaker 4>I think back, You're right, some people are still just
<v Speaker 4>going to pay that if they held it off so
<v Speaker 4>long and they want to get GTA. But a PlayStation
<v Speaker 4>five Pro at nine hundred dollars, who's gonna buy that?
<v Speaker 4>And what the hell is a PlayStation six going to
<v Speaker 4>cost in a year or two, because that's gonna be
<v Speaker 4>one thousand dollars? And who's going to look at four
<v Speaker 4>digits for a console and feel okay with that? Yep?
<v Speaker 2>Not most people that normally show for consoles.
<v Speaker 4>It's going to be the heart of the you know,
<v Speaker 4>the most high die hard And that's that's the other
<v Speaker 4>issue is I think a lot of people are gonna
<v Speaker 4>feel pretty happy with their original PS five going into
<v Speaker 4>the PS six generation. As most games continue to.
<v Speaker 2>Get made at that level, because it would just cost
<v Speaker 2>more money to make a game for a higher end
<v Speaker 2>device only, and then you have a smaller audience, and
<v Speaker 2>it just doesn't make any sense. It already hasn't made
<v Speaker 2>a sense for a lot of developers this generation when
<v Speaker 2>they could still be mixed stuff for PS four for
<v Speaker 2>a very long time, and the PS four sucked in
<v Speaker 2>terms of hardware, and that you know, the Xbox one
<v Speaker 2>and the PS four had terrible hardware and developers cut
<v Speaker 2>making for it. Now they have good long term hardware
<v Speaker 2>in the PS five. And that's also what that's this
<v Speaker 2>price increases say, is that Sony believes they're going to
<v Speaker 2>be selling this thing for a long time.
<v Speaker 1>Even if sales have slowed overall.
<v Speaker 2>They think that this is a device that is going
<v Speaker 2>to be relevant for a very long time, well past
<v Speaker 2>twenty twenty eight. Because this gives them another a new
<v Speaker 2>baseline of establishing price, and they can lower it again
<v Speaker 2>one day if they want. But this means that this
<v Speaker 2>thing needs to be ready to continue to be sold.
<v Speaker 2>The other should be Okay, let's just eat this whatever
<v Speaker 2>these costs are for a little bit, because we're gonna
<v Speaker 2>have to be six soon it's gonna replace this five
<v Speaker 2>not being replaced anytime soon.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I guess I am still a little surprised that
<v Speaker 5>they did not choose the latter there where it's like
<v Speaker 5>eating some of that costs just because you do want
<v Speaker 5>the platform in a house, and just now that it's there,
<v Speaker 5>that's fine.
<v Speaker 4>It's gonna the.
<v Speaker 5>Return on that is gonna be in your best interests.
<v Speaker 5>So at the same time, it's like, all right, well,
<v Speaker 5>you know, the optimistic life shelf life of this console
<v Speaker 5>certainly would mirror consoles of the past, and I feel
<v Speaker 5>like the knew jerk reaction is to compare those trajectories
<v Speaker 5>to one another and sort of, you know, do a
<v Speaker 5>little bit of predictive economics. But you kind of can't
<v Speaker 5>because we are in such a unique bizarro, you know,
<v Speaker 5>different dimension that all that stuff really will not give
<v Speaker 5>you any meaningful takeaways.
<v Speaker 4>So look out there everyone.
<v Speaker 2>Last aspect of this, there was Kepler l two on
<v Speaker 2>I think reset Era, who's someone who does a good
<v Speaker 2>job of kind of getting the specs for upcoming hardware.
<v Speaker 2>He said he was doing a bill of goods, a
<v Speaker 2>bill of materials analysis for the rumored PS six and
<v Speaker 2>says that if you kind of do that right now,
<v Speaker 2>it's about seven hundred and sixty ish dollars, maybe a
<v Speaker 2>little bit less than that, somewhere in that range seven
<v Speaker 2>hundred and fifty dollars. And people are like, okay, well,
<v Speaker 2>when we look back at what the PS four's bill
<v Speaker 2>of materials was, it was four fifty and the thing
<v Speaker 2>launched for five hundred, and it's like, yeah, I don't again,
<v Speaker 2>speaking to your point back, Lar, I don't think you
<v Speaker 2>can use the pass as as prologue in this situation,
<v Speaker 2>because they learned the lesson that everyone rushed to get
<v Speaker 2>a five hundred dollars PS five and then scalped it
<v Speaker 2>to like the price, the actual functional price of a
<v Speaker 2>PS five at launch was much higher, and Sony didn't
<v Speaker 2>get most of that money. Next time, they're going to
<v Speaker 2>make sure that they are ready to capture as much
<v Speaker 2>of that money and hype as possible, So there's going
<v Speaker 2>to be a bigger premium on top of the bill
<v Speaker 2>of materials. That's before we start talking about tariffs, before
<v Speaker 2>we start talking about rising fuel costs that absolutely contribute
<v Speaker 2>from moving a console from Asia to other parts of
<v Speaker 2>the world, and you know, the rising costs of just
<v Speaker 2>like packaging materials that's getting more expensive, and those things
<v Speaker 2>were that was already thirty to forty dollars of the
<v Speaker 2>cost for like a PS five, So it's going to
<v Speaker 2>be one thousand dollars probably one way or another for
<v Speaker 2>a PS six. Maybe they have some stripped down other option.
<v Speaker 2>I still think they're going to have a PS six
<v Speaker 2>light that is basically a PS five pro and that
<v Speaker 2>will be repackaged and that might be a little bit
<v Speaker 2>less expensive, but that's not going to be the real
<v Speaker 2>PS six that we're going to be talking about.
<v Speaker 1>It sucks that it feels like, or just looking at
<v Speaker 1>these numbers, that console gaming might become like a boutique
<v Speaker 1>hobby and.
<v Speaker 2>They don't seem to be taking that they could solve that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they don't seem to think that there is a way
<v Speaker 2>around that. They're like they feel like that's inevitable. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I did not realize we were at that point that
<v Speaker 2>these companies are sort of succeding or acceeding excuse me,
<v Speaker 2>that that ground and to feel like, we know we
<v Speaker 2>have that audience that pays a lot, We're just going
<v Speaker 2>to focus on them and then we're going to make
<v Speaker 2>sure we get as much money from those suckers as possible.
<v Speaker 4>So, hey, I'm a sucker.
<v Speaker 2>You're looking right at them, all right, let's see here.
<v Speaker 2>Continuing on, Disney may be interested in acquiring Epic Games
<v Speaker 2>at some point, it's claimed, So this is a story
<v Speaker 2>of someone being like, Hey, the new CEO of Disney
<v Speaker 2>is super in on the idea of Epic, especially after
<v Speaker 2>really hating the one billion dollar open Ai sore A deal,
<v Speaker 2>and they you know what, let me read some of this.
<v Speaker 2>So tech reporter Alex Heath suggests that Disney would be
<v Speaker 2>the most natural home for Epic due to the existing relationship,
<v Speaker 2>potential for park integration like a Fortnite park, and integration
<v Speaker 2>of Disney IP into Epic's open world relationship, viewing it
<v Speaker 2>as a lynchpin for the future and interactivity of Disney,
<v Speaker 2>plus as a total Disney experience portal. Furthermore, acquiring Epic
<v Speaker 2>would also mean acquiring Unreal Engine, which is increasingly Houston
<v Speaker 2>film and TV production. Well, Fortnite engagement has recently dipped,
<v Speaker 2>it remains dominant a dominant social and entertainment platform for
<v Speaker 2>young people, making Epic an attractive prospect for Disney, especially
<v Speaker 2>in challenging roadblocks, especially in terms of putting their IP
<v Speaker 2>into Fortnite as a way to keep them relevant. Like
<v Speaker 2>what it differed, It helped out like the Simpsons, this
<v Speaker 2>like institution, It like definitely gave some like verve back
<v Speaker 2>to that. It's like Disney sees that and obviously already
<v Speaker 2>saw it when they were investing a lot of money
<v Speaker 2>into Epic I obviously you know, you put two and
<v Speaker 2>two together here. Suddenly when you lay off a thousand
<v Speaker 2>people and you say and you say you're trying to
<v Speaker 2>package it up for an acquisition, it all starts to
<v Speaker 2>make a lot more sense, especially and it just yeah,
<v Speaker 2>go ahead, I got a.
<v Speaker 5>Quarter cheaper to run, right like that? You know, that's it,
<v Speaker 5>Like that, Come on, We've been in this, We've personally
<v Speaker 5>been had front row seats to things like this before.
<v Speaker 5>It's very difficult to not make a very reasonable connection.
<v Speaker 4>Between these two things. Yeah, I don't, I don't.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, yeah, if this came out with you know,
<v Speaker 5>without the layoffs, you're like, hey, sure this, but with
<v Speaker 5>the layout.
<v Speaker 4>I mean very real step and the other side of
<v Speaker 4>that rule, It's like it felt sloppy to me, Like I.
<v Speaker 2>Was like, we were gonna talk more about that, but
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I bet we're gonna get more and
<v Speaker 2>more information about this story because it just smelled off
<v Speaker 2>to me in terms of like it it sounded rushed,
<v Speaker 2>like all the stories about hey, they lay off a
<v Speaker 2>bunch of people that like just don't make a lot
<v Speaker 2>of sense. A lot of these people are very important
<v Speaker 2>to making Fortnite very good, and and you know, then
<v Speaker 2>there's then there's like these pr disasters of laying off
<v Speaker 2>the person that had brain cancer or whatever. I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 2>I can't don't remember the exact malady that they that
<v Speaker 2>they had, but the person had life insurance under Epic
<v Speaker 2>got laid off and doesn't have life insurance anymore, and
<v Speaker 2>sounds like that's gonna be a big problem for the family,
<v Speaker 2>and everyone's like what the fuck epic and Epic had
<v Speaker 2>to like walk that back just sounded quick and sloppy.
<v Speaker 2>So this stuff, it could we could be like talking
<v Speaker 2>about this acquisition happening here very soon, is what it
<v Speaker 2>feels like to me. Mike Disney perspective, what do.
<v Speaker 4>You think it's It's weird because normally when Disney does
<v Speaker 4>these giant acquisitions, it's mostly about IP right, Yeah, like
<v Speaker 4>you know, they didn't go after Fox because of their
<v Speaker 4>you know, backlot and studios and things like that. And Fortnite,
<v Speaker 4>Like there is a Fortnite ip right, like you know
<v Speaker 4>there's the the the the Lama, and the Boston Jones,
<v Speaker 4>John John Fortnite with the blonde hair. But I mean right,
<v Speaker 4>but like Fortnite is mostly about other ip coming.
<v Speaker 2>It's happy Meals. It's happy Meals, yes.
<v Speaker 4>Right exactly. So that's kind of a weird thing here.
<v Speaker 4>It's like, okay, so now this is gonna own this
<v Speaker 4>sort of IP sponge. Yeah, they have a lot of
<v Speaker 4>their own IP they can just put in it. But
<v Speaker 4>they're still going to be making deals with K pop
<v Speaker 4>demon hunters, you know, things like that. Like the idea
<v Speaker 4>of putting Fortnite in the parks, What the hell does
<v Speaker 4>that look like?
<v Speaker 1>Like it?
<v Speaker 4>It is funny because they just put Hercules in the game, right,
<v Speaker 4>and to me it's still weird. Here's Hercules from the
<v Speaker 4>cartoon movie when I was a kid with a fucking
<v Speaker 4>shotgun going around shooting Dwayne the Rock Johnson and Peter Griffin. Now,
<v Speaker 4>what the hell is the theme park equivalent of that?
<v Speaker 4>I mean, maybe there's something it makes sense if they're
<v Speaker 4>not thinking about IP and it's just a matter of
<v Speaker 4>we need a footprint in the video game space. That
<v Speaker 4>makes a bit more sense, because yeah, Fortnite is going
<v Speaker 4>to make money, but we've also seen that the whole
<v Speaker 4>other aspect of Epic we're gonna expand that we're gonna
<v Speaker 4>make Fortnite this platform because we're gonna have this racing
<v Speaker 4>game in this music game, and this lego game in
<v Speaker 4>there as well. None of that has really worked, right
<v Speaker 4>if people are just still playing Fortnite, No, Bill Mills
<v Speaker 4>some of the social stuff, like here's an in game
<v Speaker 4>concert that has picked up, but the whole thing that
<v Speaker 4>they initially invested in, which is basically a metaverse. At
<v Speaker 4>a time when the metaverse concept seems deader than it's
<v Speaker 4>ever been dead, one of those platforms just announced like
<v Speaker 4>it's shutting down their day. I forget the name of it.
<v Speaker 1>But so.
<v Speaker 4>Disney does not need to be any bigger first of all, right,
<v Speaker 4>well obviously, right, Yeah, it's a huge detriment to them,
<v Speaker 4>and it's one of the problems why the last time
<v Speaker 4>they switched CEOs it was so difficult because getting any
<v Speaker 4>person to become in charge of a company that is
<v Speaker 4>a theme park company, a cruise line company, a film
<v Speaker 4>television company, a sports company, and now a video game company.
<v Speaker 4>How is one person in chargeable this? They have to
<v Speaker 4>dealgate like crazy, and it just kind of ends up
<v Speaker 4>not really working.
<v Speaker 1>If only there were multiple companies to do this instead
<v Speaker 1>of just one.
<v Speaker 5>You know, Uh, Mike, I I hear where you're coming from.
<v Speaker 5>I'm not going to try and pretend to get inside
<v Speaker 5>the mind of the sea level sort of like thinking
<v Speaker 5>with this stuff, because we've seen evidence that it is
<v Speaker 5>nothing more than just like back of the napkin bullshit real.
<v Speaker 2>Quick to that point that this is the thing I
<v Speaker 2>was waiting. I just want to say it now. Sure,
<v Speaker 2>the back of the back and that thing that they're
<v Speaker 2>us and that's so intoxicating to them is they're hearing
<v Speaker 2>if they make this deal, Disney's stock price is going
<v Speaker 2>to shoot up because they think Fortnite's worth so much
<v Speaker 2>and they keep saying it'll pay for itself. And that's
<v Speaker 2>the kind of shit that these dudes are just going
<v Speaker 2>to drink up. And so it feels like they're just
<v Speaker 2>gonna barrel toward it thinking that way.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, that's the that's like the neck bite to a vampire, right,
<v Speaker 5>Like they're just like I just need to get my
<v Speaker 5>next fix and I'm gonna be fine and I'll be
<v Speaker 5>able to move on. I Yeah, So, like again, I
<v Speaker 5>don't think we need to like over sort of investigate
<v Speaker 5>that whole thing because I you know, we've seen more
<v Speaker 5>sort of like on its face strange you know, acquisitions
<v Speaker 5>sort of play out.
<v Speaker 4>And I'm not gonna do the mental gymnastics to like.
<v Speaker 5>Give them ideas of how to do this, right, But
<v Speaker 5>I do think it is you know, again, we have
<v Speaker 5>seen enough evidence that like a lot of this stuff
<v Speaker 5>doesn't always make a lot of sense. I mean, the
<v Speaker 5>Sore deal has just completely blown up, and that was
<v Speaker 5>a billion dollar deal. Obviously you know Epic would be
<v Speaker 5>way more than that. But yeah, you know, I I
<v Speaker 5>think the problem you have that you said Mike that
<v Speaker 5>none of this is that he is going to catch
<v Speaker 5>a whiff of anti trust sort of regulation or any
<v Speaker 5>kind of Hey, maybe we don't let you have all
<v Speaker 5>the entertainment seems like something that will barely get scrutinized.
<v Speaker 1>The like the investment that Disney had in Epic like
<v Speaker 1>a couple months ago, that story, what was what was
<v Speaker 1>that investment specifically about.
<v Speaker 2>Two billion dollars two billion dollars to get a certain
<v Speaker 2>percentage of Epic, and as part of that deal, Epic
<v Speaker 2>would begin working on bringing bringing various Disney properties into
<v Speaker 2>Fortite and then building a whole sort of Disney What
<v Speaker 2>is effectively a metaverse? I mean, you know, and it
<v Speaker 2>does sound like that is the thing that like Josh
<v Speaker 2>damorro Damerow that he's super keen on again apparently as
<v Speaker 2>opposed to the open a ideal.
<v Speaker 1>So what what he?
<v Speaker 4>I mean?
<v Speaker 2>The idea of turning Disney Plus into this bigger, all
<v Speaker 2>encompassing thing is one of those things that just sounds
<v Speaker 2>great on paper and has never really worked. You're gonna
<v Speaker 2>give us a Disney Plus home like equivalent to PlayStation Home, right,
<v Speaker 2>Fortnite in there, and that's why it's fun.
<v Speaker 1>What are you talking?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah? Like what exactly? It's like, Oh, this is gonna
<v Speaker 4>be so awesome and immersive. Are is it gonna put
<v Speaker 4>button seats? Are people really going to log into Fortnite
<v Speaker 4>to go to the Disney Island so they can wave
<v Speaker 4>at mister Incredible while they're in a tie fighter. That's
<v Speaker 4>what they think then they see the synergy and they
<v Speaker 4>get really excited about it. The other aspect is unreal Engine.
<v Speaker 4>Why why does Disney need to own Unreal Engine? And
<v Speaker 4>there's like some stuff there with.
<v Speaker 2>Right there, an ILM and a bunch of important studios
<v Speaker 2>to like making the special effects.
<v Speaker 4>I'm sorry continued right exactly, Yeah, yeah, but you know
<v Speaker 4>it's like the Mandalorian thing. I forgot that things called
<v Speaker 4>well you just go volume room and yeah, the volume
<v Speaker 4>stuff and then you can get unreal in different that.
<v Speaker 4>But that's a that seems like a weird business for
<v Speaker 4>Disney to be in.
<v Speaker 1>Uh for me, yep, it's.
<v Speaker 4>Uh, your heart's too You're too far, You're too far
<v Speaker 4>compromised your heart.
<v Speaker 5>We got to pull you out. I'm not out of Disney,
<v Speaker 5>but I you know, no, please, you're an agent.
<v Speaker 2>Well well again, like it feels like the conversations must
<v Speaker 2>be ongoing right now for him to rush through those layoffs.
<v Speaker 2>But we'll see, all right, some PC gaming here's maybe
<v Speaker 2>some good news. Let's look at it through like the
<v Speaker 2>positive tent as best weekend.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>PC gaming RAM actually did get cheaper for the first
<v Speaker 2>time in months, although it might not last. DDR five
<v Speaker 2>RAM prices are finally dropping, apparently, and the reason for
<v Speaker 2>this there's probably two reasons. The main reason that's getting
<v Speaker 2>mentioned in most stories is Google had turbo quant revealed,
<v Speaker 2>and this is a compression algorithm for large language models
<v Speaker 2>to make them six times more efficient. Basically, it's just
<v Speaker 2>going to require less memory to do the same stuff
<v Speaker 2>that they've been doing with their AI so far, and
<v Speaker 2>six times is a huge number, so they might just
<v Speaker 2>like the the demand for memory and RAM chips actually
<v Speaker 2>might lessen a little bit. This does feel temporary that
<v Speaker 2>now that they have more, they could just use that
<v Speaker 2>capacity to do even more and finally make AAI reel
<v Speaker 2>or whatever they're trying to do. So I think this
<v Speaker 2>is probably a temporary reprieve, but it does show that
<v Speaker 2>when there's news that might suggest that this demand might
<v Speaker 2>not last, the price seemed to go down almost immediately.
<v Speaker 2>It went down like thirty to sixty dollars, depending on
<v Speaker 2>what RAM module you were looking at. Some of them
<v Speaker 2>didn't go down, but it was noticeable. The other aspect
<v Speaker 2>of this is open AI. Apparently there were headlines that
<v Speaker 2>it was going to get forty it was going to
<v Speaker 2>purchase forty percent of the world's RAM and that was
<v Speaker 2>just never actually real like the Skhiiniz and Micron and
<v Speaker 2>all these companies never actually factored that into their earning
<v Speaker 2>supports or anything like that. But it kind of seems
<v Speaker 2>like it's never actually going to happen. It was just
<v Speaker 2>a letter of intent and they're not going to actually
<v Speaker 2>follow through with that commit and so people are like, oh, okay,
<v Speaker 2>that will also mean there's gonna be a lot of
<v Speaker 2>stuff freed up, and that's It's really hard to necessarily
<v Speaker 2>know if that's true, but at the very least, it
<v Speaker 2>seems to be affecting the mind games that people have
<v Speaker 2>regarding this stuff. So yeah, I don't think you should
<v Speaker 2>expect RAM prices to consistently drop or even to level
<v Speaker 2>off for a long like for a long term, like
<v Speaker 2>for a long point from the here on on on out.
<v Speaker 2>But I think you can maybe say that once we
<v Speaker 2>get on the other side of this, things should normalize
<v Speaker 2>relatively quickly. All right, Let's see here, Bunchie says Marathon
<v Speaker 2>will be steadily improved for many years. Story here is
<v Speaker 2>there's you know, the game has sold around a million,
<v Speaker 2>million and a half copies maybe more at this point.
<v Speaker 2>It does sound like it needed to do much more
<v Speaker 2>than that to you know, make its money back, to
<v Speaker 2>sort of justify Bungee as a studio. It's not done
<v Speaker 2>that yet, but the word of mouth is really positive.
<v Speaker 2>So people are wondering how does Bunie feel about continuing
<v Speaker 2>to support this game, and they are seemingly like addressing
<v Speaker 2>those concerns head on and say that they are in
<v Speaker 2>this for the long haul and they intend to keep
<v Speaker 2>supporting Marathon, and I think that's the right choice. I
<v Speaker 2>hope they're telling the truth. I think the game seems
<v Speaker 2>like it's going to continue to build over time if
<v Speaker 2>it gets the right support. What do you guys think?
<v Speaker 1>I would like to play more Marathon in this website,
<v Speaker 1>so this would give me an excuse to play it
<v Speaker 1>because I have been very curious seeing all the online
<v Speaker 1>homies talking about ex fillin and Cryo whatever is going
<v Speaker 1>on and what's the nuts and stuff. Yeah, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>The buzz online word of mouth is always great. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>That's what's so weird though, is that for you know,
<v Speaker 4>when this guy's come out as like, oh, people might
<v Speaker 4>not like it and it's not going to do well,
<v Speaker 4>people seem to really like it. And it's doing okay,
<v Speaker 4>And that's a very weird spot to be in because
<v Speaker 4>I was like, well, what else can we do here?
<v Speaker 4>Can the audience actually grow for this thing? Is it enough?
<v Speaker 4>What is this going to mean for the future of
<v Speaker 4>this game? And for Bungeee. It's a strange position, and
<v Speaker 4>I am very curious how Bungee's actually feeling about this,
<v Speaker 4>how Sony is actually feeling about this, And yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>can understand if there's anxiety amongst that player base as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean it's one of those ones I keep
<v Speaker 2>hearing about people saying, Oh, it feels like if you
<v Speaker 2>play the solo the rook class, it can be very
<v Speaker 2>scary and almost like a horror game, sort of like
<v Speaker 2>the early days of PUBG and like, oh, that sounds
<v Speaker 2>actually really enticing to me. I'll happily play with you
<v Speaker 2>guys when we are at work, but a lot of
<v Speaker 2>times I just want to hop on and do some
<v Speaker 2>solo cueuing and you seems like that works.
<v Speaker 4>I've not and I'm going to.
<v Speaker 3>I still haven't figured out how to do it.
<v Speaker 6>It's like it doesn't let you go in with any
<v Speaker 6>kind of backpack thing, but it doesn't let you like
<v Speaker 6>unequip it, so like I've been wanting to try it, so.
<v Speaker 2>I bet I'll be confused by the UI as well. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>well I'll I'll report back if.
<v Speaker 1>I figure it out.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that they still need to fix some of that stuff,
<v Speaker 4>I think. All right.
<v Speaker 2>Xbox confirmed it's going to have its showcase this summer
<v Speaker 2>as part of like the wider our game Fast uh
<v Speaker 2>game fest festivities. As part of that, they're gonna do
<v Speaker 2>the normal thing of here is the big showcase with
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of different games and stick around. We're gonna
<v Speaker 2>have a follow up that is a big one focused
<v Speaker 2>on one game this time that Gears of War E Day,
<v Speaker 2>which is still coming out this year.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Other games you could expect from this fable Halo campaign Evolved, Minecraft, Dungeons, Clockwork,
<v Speaker 2>Revolution stated K three, maybe maybe Kochama's O d uh,
<v Speaker 2>and and that that Toys for Bob game that is
<v Speaker 2>very likely a new spiro.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah that.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, they are making a lot of games, and
<v Speaker 2>they're in their showcases have often done a good job
<v Speaker 2>of showing those offs. So all right, Yeah, business as
<v Speaker 2>usual for Xbox under new leadership. At least that's what
<v Speaker 2>it feels like. So far cool.
<v Speaker 1>Where are my beard boys at huh? No?
<v Speaker 4>Everyone's favorite Gears of War character, Baird. I do like
<v Speaker 4>he had the goggles. He looked like tie from Digimond
<v Speaker 4>to me.
<v Speaker 1>There we go. That's a bird boy right there right.
<v Speaker 4>Actually didn't play it, Big bird guy.
<v Speaker 2>Idos Mondrell is announcing layoffs for a third year in
<v Speaker 2>a row. Idos, whose last game was Guardians of the
<v Speaker 2>Galaxy in twenty twenty one, and then they were going
<v Speaker 2>to go on and make that Dios X game. That
<v Speaker 2>game got canceled. Since then, they've been operating basically as
<v Speaker 2>a premium work for hire studio, a support studio. They've
<v Speaker 2>worked with Microsoft on some stuff, but it does seem
<v Speaker 2>like as those contracts go, so goes this studio. And
<v Speaker 2>then three years in a row of major layoffs says
<v Speaker 2>that this is not some like situational thing where okay, there,
<v Speaker 2>we're done making this game. We need to just scale
<v Speaker 2>back now for a little bit before we reload for
<v Speaker 2>the next project. Three years in a row says that
<v Speaker 2>there is something wrong in you know, rotten at the
<v Speaker 2>core here, and we know it is because it's an Embrac.
<v Speaker 2>Embracer group owns them and they just can't figure this
<v Speaker 2>stuff out, and they can't they can't kind of commit
<v Speaker 2>to getting the studio back to a point where they
<v Speaker 2>are making their own projects, and so they have to
<v Speaker 2>sort of just wait to see if Microsoft's going to
<v Speaker 2>give them enough money to justify this studio, and Microsoft
<v Speaker 2>is like closing down like studios that would work with
<v Speaker 2>the studio like this, The initiative is that, Yeah, the
<v Speaker 2>initiative is that the one that was doing perfect Dark Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that, where they're just kind of cutting stuff
<v Speaker 2>left and right, cutting off these contracts and so Idos
<v Speaker 2>Moutral getting cut up in a lot of that, and
<v Speaker 2>it just doesn't feel like they're ever really going to come.
<v Speaker 4>Back, which is a shame.
<v Speaker 2>Like Dao Sex, I think they could have had another
<v Speaker 2>go at that and done something cool that Guardians of
<v Speaker 2>the Galaxy games, when I ended up really liking, Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>It's a shah, it's a banker of a game, Jesus.
<v Speaker 4>It's just like count on these kind of studios, like
<v Speaker 4>these people can make good Triple A games that's going
<v Speaker 4>to be bankable forefft, and that it's that is just
<v Speaker 4>not even close to enough these days, and who knows
<v Speaker 4>what enough is anymore?
<v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, so that's the last thing I want to say.
<v Speaker 2>Before we finish up with with the news. Is there
<v Speaker 2>was I think it was the has Grow CEO was
<v Speaker 2>doing one of these like more mainstream podcasts and talking
<v Speaker 2>about the challenges of video games, and he said a
<v Speaker 2>number that I think is a kind must be one
<v Speaker 2>of these key numbers that goes around in these circles
<v Speaker 2>of executives at these companies, and it's one thousand man hours,
<v Speaker 2>one thousand or one thousand man years. So the idea
<v Speaker 2>is it requires one thousand man years, the equivalent of
<v Speaker 2>one person working for a thousand years, or if you know,
<v Speaker 2>you get a thousand people then working for one year
<v Speaker 2>to make a game that can compete in the market.
<v Speaker 2>And when you multiply that number one thousand man years
<v Speaker 2>by how much it costs to employ someone in like California,
<v Speaker 2>you do get that number of two hundred million dollars
<v Speaker 2>to make a game. And it's really actually at this
<v Speaker 2>point closer.
<v Speaker 4>To two hundred and fifty million dollars.
<v Speaker 2>And he said, you just need that to be like
<v Speaker 2>at the table, Yeah, just to be like sitting down
<v Speaker 2>at the table. Maybe not even competitive. So that's the
<v Speaker 2>number that's scaring away all these companies is we just
<v Speaker 2>don't know if we can get over that hump, because
<v Speaker 2>it might take nine hundred of those man years to
<v Speaker 2>find out if we even have a game that's good,
<v Speaker 2>and we might get to the end and spend all
<v Speaker 2>that money and have something that's shit and it's just
<v Speaker 2>going to shit the bed. And so all these companies
<v Speaker 2>are terrified, from the biggest ones to the littlest ones.
<v Speaker 2>And it feels that like that unsustainable video game the
<v Speaker 2>trend has reached its zenith and everyone's going it's not
<v Speaker 2>just unsustainable.
<v Speaker 4>We're there.
<v Speaker 1>We cannot sustain it. It's done. It's absolutely exhausting. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, Like we see numbers like Crimson Desert selling
<v Speaker 1>five upwards to five million copies, and like, the thing
<v Speaker 1>I'd like to bring up is like, Okay, that's a
<v Speaker 1>company doing something completely different. Yet all these other companies
<v Speaker 1>that are just like rinsing through all of their talent
<v Speaker 1>and flooding the talent pool with more and more developers
<v Speaker 1>looking for the same jobs. Like they did it. They
<v Speaker 1>made a game, it's selling. Go continue to make games. Please.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think it's you just got to be more
<v Speaker 2>creative on the business side. Now they their their toolbox
<v Speaker 2>of just making the most expensive shit to stand out.
<v Speaker 2>It's not gonna work anymore. They can't afford it. They're
<v Speaker 2>gonna have to get more creative on just the kind
<v Speaker 2>of stuff they're making.
<v Speaker 4>I think.
<v Speaker 2>But just for the news, that's all the headlines jammed
<v Speaker 2>back over to you, gang.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna go take another quick bricky brick and we'll
<v Speaker 1>be back with some emails and YouTube super chats. Have
<v Speaker 1>we got any right after this.
<v Speaker 4>Or emails?
<v Speaker 1>Bobcast Giant bomb dot com is the email a dress
<v Speaker 1>send your emails to. You can write in about any
<v Speaker 1>and everything, and you all do, and all of you
<v Speaker 1>have been writing in. We have so many emails every
<v Speaker 1>week now we're drowning at them and I appreciate them.
<v Speaker 1>BombCast a Giant bomb dot com is email dress and
<v Speaker 1>let's get into it. First email comes from Skyler from Millbrook,
<v Speaker 1>New York. Hey, duders with the prices of consoles going up.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if it's my algorithms, but I can't
<v Speaker 1>help but notice that it seems like the PA P
<v Speaker 1>three is going through a renaissance. Actually went out and
<v Speaker 1>got an original fat PS three with a PS two
<v Speaker 1>backwards patibility and have started a PS one to three collection.
<v Speaker 1>This has actually been nice to go back and experience
<v Speaker 1>some of my favorite games for my teens. So I
<v Speaker 1>guess this is for others. Do you think the PS
<v Speaker 1>three deserves another go? As we watched the rampocalypse happen
<v Speaker 1>around us? Skyler from Milburg, New York, I.
<v Speaker 6>Think there's better retro things to go to than the
<v Speaker 6>PS three. It was, it was a fine console, but this.
<v Speaker 1>Is some people's childhood console, though, Dan, that's fucked up.
<v Speaker 4>I mean it's a little bit. The PS three and
<v Speaker 4>three sixty era in general was weird because there's all
<v Speaker 4>these classic games from them, and then a lot of
<v Speaker 4>them you know, you much rather just play them on
<v Speaker 4>PC because you can get them in around sixty francs
<v Speaker 4>per second. PS three is a bit different there because
<v Speaker 4>there are things like the Infamous games and the Resistance
<v Speaker 4>games or the Killson games that are kind of still
<v Speaker 4>stuck on there. I also don't care that much about
<v Speaker 4>those games, though, so I am feeling some PS three
<v Speaker 4>nostalgia lately. I want to play three D dot game here.
<v Speaker 7>Hell yeah, right, yeah, I think, Yeah, I'm kind of
<v Speaker 7>curious about White Night Chronicles, Ryan, that's weird stuff like that.
<v Speaker 4>Anyway, if you get the PS three that plays PS
<v Speaker 4>one PS two games, I mean those are those are
<v Speaker 4>some of the best libraries of all time. That that
<v Speaker 4>will keep you busy forever. That's like my solace with
<v Speaker 4>all this stuff, Like, oh, is there a video game crash?
<v Speaker 4>Even if that happened, I will be okay playing old
<v Speaker 4>video games for basically the rest of my life. I
<v Speaker 4>can play video games and they'll be indie things still too.
<v Speaker 4>I'll get by I'll be.
<v Speaker 2>I mean that's actually how it worked in the last
<v Speaker 2>crash too.
<v Speaker 1>No consumer notice the crash. They just kept playing games
<v Speaker 1>and they're like, awesome, these are only two dollars.
<v Speaker 4>That was very exciting.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, is the OGPS three Is that a baddie?
<v Speaker 1>I think it's a baddie.
<v Speaker 4>It's George Forman grille.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and it's got those curves. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Absolutely.
<v Speaker 1>Because I look at the PS five and my PS
<v Speaker 1>five is in front of me, I'm like, that just
<v Speaker 1>looks all right. It's too much.
<v Speaker 4>It's silly looking, you could say it.
<v Speaker 6>I haven't think all the PlayStation consoles since two have
<v Speaker 6>been kind of ugly. I think the one and specifically
<v Speaker 6>the PS one slim and those slims were fantastic, and
<v Speaker 6>you get to three and be on their own kind
<v Speaker 6>of ugly.
<v Speaker 4>I want to be clear that I am a big
<v Speaker 4>defender of the aesthetics of the PlayStation five. I like
<v Speaker 4>the way it looks a lot. I like the weird, sleek,
<v Speaker 4>retro futuristic white blue thing. I'm a big fan of it.
<v Speaker 4>I'm glad they went for something so just making an
<v Speaker 4>ugly black box. It's not an ironic thing. I don't
<v Speaker 4>think it looks so ugly. I think no, and ironically
<v Speaker 4>looks awesome.
<v Speaker 5>No, you're right the I like it because it's so big,
<v Speaker 5>and I like it because of how much space it
<v Speaker 5>takes up the fact that you could like poke yourself
<v Speaker 5>to death by just just by the verge of picking
<v Speaker 5>the fucking thing up.
<v Speaker 4>Uh and eleven.
<v Speaker 2>Right next to that damn switch stand for bakalar.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 6>Have you imagine taking a panel off of the base
<v Speaker 6>PS five. It just there's no way to do it
<v Speaker 6>without feeling like you've broken it in four places.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's insane. It's like it's it's honestly like a
<v Speaker 5>meat slicer. I don't know what else to say. It's like,
<v Speaker 5>oh cool, I have a meat slicer.
<v Speaker 1>What's that the wrestler.
<v Speaker 4>I hate that scene. It's like cool, let me put this.
<v Speaker 1>In my living all throwing up this second food YouTube.
<v Speaker 4>Every time the Dela Spicer comes out, I'm like, don't
<v Speaker 4>do it that in the fucking mandolin. They're always using
<v Speaker 4>the mandolin. Don't use it, but I'm not going to.
<v Speaker 4>In their hand gets close to it, close to that
<v Speaker 4>fucking blade. I get to see like a Deli slice
<v Speaker 4>of hand getting chopped off and bleaning everywhere, and I don't.
<v Speaker 4>I will never use a band for Christmas. Scary.
<v Speaker 5>I think Peose three had some some interesting stuff there.
<v Speaker 5>I know I talk a lot about Heavenly Sword and
<v Speaker 5>is not good.
<v Speaker 4>Such a seven interesting.
<v Speaker 3>I liked doing six axes to move the arrows.
<v Speaker 5>Right, like you know, I went back. I tried it
<v Speaker 5>out and I'm like, oh, yeah, you know, I was
<v Speaker 5>an idiot. Let's let's play Layer Layers exclusive website.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah I would. I would like that fantastic, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Next email comes from Jess from Australia, Kuala Emoji. Hey, dude, Dres.
<v Speaker 1>My dad recently broke his back, big sad. I just
<v Speaker 1>set up my old PS four for him to give
<v Speaker 1>him something to do while hopped up on some very
<v Speaker 1>strong painkillers. He hasn't played any games really since he
<v Speaker 1>bought bought me a PS one back in the day,
<v Speaker 1>the source of all of my formative gaming memories, and
<v Speaker 1>I wanted to return the favor by helping him get
<v Speaker 1>back into gaming. Any PS four games you think would
<v Speaker 1>be good for an old timer who's been out of
<v Speaker 1>the game. They add a t he for too long.
<v Speaker 1>Thanks for all you do. You guys are constant source
<v Speaker 1>of inspiration for me, an aspiring journal, lots of love
<v Speaker 1>jazz from Australia.
<v Speaker 6>It's tough because I feel like if he hasn't played
<v Speaker 6>anything since PS one, people will really struggle with dual
<v Speaker 6>analog stuff like a camera contr Yeah, what is.
<v Speaker 2>The I mean rough Fortnite introduced so many people. That's
<v Speaker 2>not what you introduced. I guess maybe see if they
<v Speaker 2>want to have fun with their favorite character in Fortnite
<v Speaker 2>or something getting used to that.
<v Speaker 3>What about twenty eighteen got a war? I mean, you
<v Speaker 3>don't really have to manage.
<v Speaker 1>The camera on that.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's no. I mean there's like there is something
<v Speaker 4>so like Clive Cussler dad related about the Uncharted games
<v Speaker 4>that if you can get a hold of the controls
<v Speaker 4>you might enjoy the trilogy and then four.
<v Speaker 1>On there video games. That's incredible, Mike, I love that.
<v Speaker 4>It's true, right, Yes, yeah, uh Tarismo, yes, grand Darisma.
<v Speaker 4>Well it's just grant Rismo Sport on the PlayStation four,
<v Speaker 4>which is a weird one. It was supposed to mostly
<v Speaker 4>be the online one has offline stuff. But yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>you think that be an obvious answer there. Maybe instead
<v Speaker 4>of that, just get one of those open world need
<v Speaker 4>for speed games on there. I bet he'd enjoy one
<v Speaker 4>of those.
<v Speaker 1>Just fine.
<v Speaker 6>I was gonna say Tetris effect, but then I remember
<v Speaker 6>I got my dad on my Nintendo Switch online family plan.
<v Speaker 6>I tried to teach him how to play Tetris and
<v Speaker 6>he was just like, this doesn't make any sense. This
<v Speaker 6>doesn't like that. There's like I was, it's Tetris, and
<v Speaker 6>I assume that would be like anyone can bring. He's
<v Speaker 6>just like, I don understand what we're spposed to be here.
<v Speaker 6>It's like, but the thing's come on, you know. He
<v Speaker 6>was not able to No, I know, but you know
<v Speaker 6>the answer to what we're all thinking. You know what
<v Speaker 6>we're all think five hundred hours in a Breath of
<v Speaker 6>the Wild. You know it's insane that tetris like, oh,
<v Speaker 6>this makes no sense.
<v Speaker 4>I need to make an amendment here. Uh, there was
<v Speaker 4>a PS four version of grin Trisma seven. I didn't
<v Speaker 4>know that.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, let you go the Maybe maybe like an RPG
<v Speaker 1>like is Balder's Gate on the PS four.
<v Speaker 4>No, actually I don't know. You know Kune's three ship
<v Speaker 4>the Witness persona five? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Five?
<v Speaker 4>Actually, I don't think. I don't know how many people's
<v Speaker 4>dads are kind of like, unless he's a cool dad,
<v Speaker 4>you don't know what's your three? What's your three? Is
<v Speaker 4>a good shout out for RPG? Yeah, a lot? I
<v Speaker 4>mean how email or what's what? How was your dad?
<v Speaker 5>Like here starting? But that could be like fifty eight,
<v Speaker 5>you know, like just.
<v Speaker 4>Get like those just cause games or maybe a far
<v Speaker 4>cry right. It's an open world and you can just
<v Speaker 4>causes a good shout Yeah, get just caused for or
<v Speaker 4>something like that, or far cry for one of the four.
<v Speaker 1>Or or get him a bunch of blu rays. Use
<v Speaker 1>as Blu Ray Player Talladega Nights.
<v Speaker 4>I do think uncharted, like will go.
<v Speaker 5>I know it's got the analog left and right thing,
<v Speaker 5>but like, I feel like that is a.
<v Speaker 4>Relatively options in those games.
<v Speaker 1>Relatively Someone in chat suggested Atari fifty, and I think
<v Speaker 1>that would be cool because if he had played games
<v Speaker 1>prior to the PS one, that'd be a neat trip
<v Speaker 1>down memory lane. You know, the museum aspect of it
<v Speaker 1>is cool.
<v Speaker 3>Super Mega Baseball I just put over a thousand hours
<v Speaker 3>into it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's ogre or even.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, yeah, maybe it's more difficult, but the show
<v Speaker 4>games that will be the show.
<v Speaker 1>It's very good.
<v Speaker 4>You get one of those incredibly cheap on PS four
<v Speaker 4>now yeah, true, Uh they still release those on PS
<v Speaker 4>four apartmies like why wouldn't they? But maybe they don't.
<v Speaker 4>Don't know, it's crazy.
<v Speaker 6>There's like stup Baseball like from two thousand and five
<v Speaker 6>on PS one.
<v Speaker 3>It's insane, right right.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see. Next email comes from h Eddie at n
<v Speaker 1>d Eddie Mac from Austin, and it's appropriate we mentioned
<v Speaker 1>Dan potentially being the joker with his ruse against Mike
<v Speaker 1>and Reddit. Hey, Steven bombers Dan recently revealed his long
<v Speaker 1>con burner ploy to rage bait Mike. Truly incredible work, Dan,
<v Speaker 1>and I continue to be thankful Dan uses his powers
<v Speaker 1>for comedy and fun because I can't help but think
<v Speaker 1>of the old one Bad dayline from Joker and how
<v Speaker 1>easily Dan could have turned out as one of history's
<v Speaker 1>greatest villains had used his power, had he not use
<v Speaker 1>his powers for good, which then led me for good.
<v Speaker 1>If Dan is Joker, how does that work out for
<v Speaker 1>the rest of the crew. In the Rogues Gallery, Jerf
<v Speaker 1>clock King seems very easy fit given his keyboard tinkering ways.
<v Speaker 1>Mike the toy Man with definitely legally distinct Disney animatronics
<v Speaker 1>to do his bidding, because even as a super villain,
<v Speaker 1>he has to stay loyal to the mouse.
<v Speaker 4>Not even Mad Hatter High I got toy man, who
<v Speaker 4>I'd never heard of.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Jeff, I'm sure there are better emotional fits.
<v Speaker 1>Man Solomon Grubb d Hello YouTube on Monday fits too well.
<v Speaker 1>Jam Well, Jan would still be Batman because he's our
<v Speaker 1>noble hero in all things, and even if something bad happens,
<v Speaker 1>he just has to say it's over for you. Ho's
<v Speaker 1>parentheses positive and levels up even more, very flattering. Thank you, Chuck.
<v Speaker 1>Still getting to know Chucks of eyeb On content, which
<v Speaker 1>has been great but strikes me as a Riddler esque
<v Speaker 1>option given some of the crazy puzzles and Easter eggs
<v Speaker 1>he's already put together. Y'all are on an insane run.
<v Speaker 1>Premium remains the easy cell out there. Cheers, Eddie, thank you.
<v Speaker 4>Edit even easier now with the debut of Portal Pals
<v Speaker 4>popping off in just a little bar by a four
<v Speaker 4>pm Eastern. The first episode of Portal Pals a new
<v Speaker 4>co op play through of Portal two with me and
<v Speaker 4>Mary Kish. It's a premium series, but that first episode
<v Speaker 4>that's free for everyone, and you're gonna watch that and
<v Speaker 4>you're gonna be like, oh my god, I gotta see
<v Speaker 4>more of these PEPs. I gotta become a PPP. That's
<v Speaker 4>a Portal pal premium everybody three piece. Wow.
<v Speaker 6>It's my favorite form of Mikey.
<v Speaker 2>Is what we yelled to each other when we see
<v Speaker 2>each other on the street.
<v Speaker 5>When you know, you know that's every week, there's a
<v Speaker 5>there's a there's a minate alt that I'm just like
<v Speaker 5>more in love with Carnival Barker Manti my my my favorite.
<v Speaker 1>Wait wait wait march Minati. Did you give Backler the thing?
<v Speaker 1>He did? Yeah?
<v Speaker 5>He did?
<v Speaker 2>Did I put that? I might not have put that
<v Speaker 2>in the thing yet, Jane, I'll put it in the thing.
<v Speaker 1>Please please please? Yes?
<v Speaker 4>I I When I was at packs the first day
<v Speaker 4>before the jeffs Are ride, they did go birthday shopping
<v Speaker 4>for both of them. Took your mike. Is it in
<v Speaker 4>my shot? It's just very blurry, but it should be
<v Speaker 4>in my shot?
<v Speaker 1>That's what I said I wanted.
<v Speaker 4>I was like, I hope, I hope he puts it
<v Speaker 4>in his back.
<v Speaker 5>Well that's when you know, I like it. Sign of validation.
<v Speaker 4>There was a lot of birthdays.
<v Speaker 2>It was Max and Chuck's wife also had birthdays rightday.
<v Speaker 5>Everyone that was there apparently what a backloaded march for
<v Speaker 5>giant bomb crazy stuff. Speaking of hose.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, uh, don't put me out like that.
<v Speaker 5>Listen, Look, I this is what it's like just being
<v Speaker 5>the parent of like a pre pubescent child. I My
<v Speaker 5>man came home the other day and was like, Dad,
<v Speaker 5>like you knew he was gonna bring it. He knew
<v Speaker 5>he was going to say something, and he like did
<v Speaker 5>a good job prepping us.
<v Speaker 4>He's like, Dad, I think I heard a word that I.
<v Speaker 5>Think is bad, but it's about women, and what is it?
<v Speaker 5>And is it bad? And it's oh, like that right,
<v Speaker 5>And I don't really remember what I said then.
<v Speaker 4>I think I was just.
<v Speaker 8>Like, oh, you know, you know, you know, you know,
<v Speaker 8>but Funny sometimes.
<v Speaker 1>Says it.
<v Speaker 5>I was like, sometimes it could be endearing in a
<v Speaker 5>strange way if it's contextually appropriate, but historically.
<v Speaker 1>Is not great.
<v Speaker 5>And he was just sort of like, I don't understand
<v Speaker 5>anything you just said. I'm just not gonna say it,
<v Speaker 5>you know. And that was sort of the thing about it.
<v Speaker 5>But yeah, cool, Yeah, He's like, he's like, but don't
<v Speaker 5>I want the hose Okay, I gotta we gotta move on.
<v Speaker 1>Just keep them away from Michael Hym and I at
<v Speaker 1>the end of a table. That's right, that's it.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't bring it up a dinner,
<v Speaker 5>but nevertheless, here we are.
<v Speaker 1>Jan, what are the hoes? Don't worry. Don't worry. The
<v Speaker 1>only thing you got to worry about is scaring them.
<v Speaker 1>And I say that parenthesis positive, uh, Travis for Farga
<v Speaker 1>Wrights and Travis always has five questions. I read one
<v Speaker 1>of them. Travis asks, are you smarter now than you're
<v Speaker 1>you've ever been? If not, when were you the brightest?
<v Speaker 4>No?
<v Speaker 5>No, no, how could that unless you have like I
<v Speaker 5>came out of college much dumber than I went.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, but now are you the peak Dan intelligence wise? No,
<v Speaker 6>I think I'm dumber than before college.
<v Speaker 4>Still I know a lot more about my day job.
<v Speaker 2>And no, I feel like some other things are slipping
<v Speaker 2>through the cracks like I was, like, it's like knowledgeable,
<v Speaker 2>I'm more knowledgeable, yes, yes, of course intelligent, Like like
<v Speaker 2>I feel like that in compasses, Like I used to
<v Speaker 2>be so fast at math and I could just rat,
<v Speaker 2>like you give me a couple numbers of rattle that
<v Speaker 2>stuff off, and that stuff is becoming I'm you know, just.
<v Speaker 4>I'm most good at that now because I get dumb now. Yeah, math,
<v Speaker 4>for sure, that's such a the only time in my
<v Speaker 4>life I was ever forced to do that a lot
<v Speaker 4>was high school. So yeah, yes, I'm not gonnat map.
<v Speaker 4>But Dan, you really think the smartest you ever wore
<v Speaker 4>was when you were eighteen before college?
<v Speaker 1>Well? Yeah, because I was.
<v Speaker 6>I took like pride in that and everything and like
<v Speaker 6>the intelligence and the stuff like that and then it's
<v Speaker 6>like I found that I don't know, my path didn't
<v Speaker 6>really rely on smarts and stuff, and so I just
<v Speaker 6>land in other stuff.
<v Speaker 3>I think you're smarter, yeah, specific yeah, three ways.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, but there's no way like forty what are you
<v Speaker 5>forty one?
<v Speaker 4>Like forty forty.
<v Speaker 5>One year old dan uh is dumber than eighteen year old.
<v Speaker 4>It's just not then would make a whole game. Sure
<v Speaker 4>about this, says a society, And we found out we
<v Speaker 4>are dumb?
<v Speaker 5>Oh you mean the scientific study known as are you
<v Speaker 5>smarter than?
<v Speaker 1>Totally?
<v Speaker 5>All the research went out the window after that show.
<v Speaker 6>I think I'm that's a lot of things. I think
<v Speaker 6>I'm better at most things than.
<v Speaker 5>Your absorption of knowledge is hopefully, if you're cognitively capable,
<v Speaker 5>should be never ending. I feel like we're answering different,
<v Speaker 5>sort of different versions of this question.
<v Speaker 3>I know obs when I was in high school, but
<v Speaker 3>you know.
<v Speaker 4>That is so unhelpful.
<v Speaker 1>I think.
<v Speaker 2>He's acquired skills, is what he's trying to sing. Y.
<v Speaker 4>You are empirically smarter. There you are.
<v Speaker 1>Now here's my question. You are dumped into a an
<v Speaker 1>arena against different years of yourself. Right, let's go ten
<v Speaker 1>to sixty. I don't want to make any guesstimations about
<v Speaker 1>when we all kick the bucket, but just ten to sixty.
<v Speaker 1>Do you think you could take on all the different
<v Speaker 1>versions of you knowing yourself in.
<v Speaker 3>Physical combat, Dug.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, we've been talking about the last five minutes physical combat.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but this includes out smarting them, you know smart,
<v Speaker 1>we have weapons, we have traps exactly because there's bomber,
<v Speaker 1>Like Mike, what if you pray upon like your older
<v Speaker 1>versions of yourself? Like, hey, I've I've read some Reddit
<v Speaker 1>threads about you. Let me tell you.
<v Speaker 4>Worried about the older versions.
<v Speaker 5>That's fine, I'll take year old Jeff, though, I got
<v Speaker 5>I'm worried about that guy.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I feel like we were we were given a
<v Speaker 5>thought experiment and we like handled it in the.
<v Speaker 4>Worst possiblity across you just heard, like just your question.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, we're dumber than ever. Yeah, welcome to the show.
<v Speaker 1>I think I could take on previous versions, previous and
<v Speaker 1>future versions. Yeah, I believe, Yeah, absolutely, unless I get
<v Speaker 1>super ripped in two years. Definitely.
<v Speaker 4>There's definitely one point in my life I was working
<v Speaker 4>out in a better shape and I am going to
<v Speaker 4>die to that person.
<v Speaker 1>That version. I'm like, clear, is me very easily?
<v Speaker 6>Think I have much better cardio now than I ever
<v Speaker 6>had in my life, So like that's got to help
<v Speaker 6>in a fight, right.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, oh yeah, I could hurt. Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>I don't know why we were fighting different versions of
<v Speaker 5>our time traveled self, but that's where we landed with
<v Speaker 5>this email thing.
<v Speaker 6>I think you would do that if I ran into
<v Speaker 6>like twenty year old and me, I would probably physically
<v Speaker 6>fight him.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, yeah, that would work out well for present
<v Speaker 5>day you.
<v Speaker 1>I think it would.
<v Speaker 3>I think it would.
<v Speaker 1>I know what I would be. I would be super
<v Speaker 1>scared of scumbag Jan Actually that guy's that guy's trouble.
<v Speaker 2>Do you do you do you both know that you're
<v Speaker 2>in the situation or do you have the jump on
<v Speaker 2>Like if you're time traveling back to the younger version,
<v Speaker 2>do you get the jump on them.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like I have maybe like a minute more
<v Speaker 1>of information than they.
<v Speaker 3>Well, you like to sneak up and snap the neck
<v Speaker 3>or whatever, like what happens to you?
<v Speaker 2>Like the younger one he doesn't realize that they're entering
<v Speaker 2>combat and you do, so you're Yeah, I think that
<v Speaker 2>would really be a disadvantage for.
<v Speaker 1>The here's my strategy. I would band all the younger
<v Speaker 1>mees together to fight the older mees, and then I
<v Speaker 1>would wait it out, become their keys exactly, and just
<v Speaker 1>kill the tired last survivor exactly. Yeah, exactly. I'm like, sorry,
<v Speaker 1>you have to go, and then he turns around puts
<v Speaker 1>on a yellow beanie. I'm like, oh, no, no shit, right, okay.
<v Speaker 1>The last email of the show comes from Jason from
<v Speaker 1>Salt Lake City. Mister Backlar, this pertains to you the most.
<v Speaker 1>How do you bomba deer's first off? Thanks for being
<v Speaker 1>my most consistent, enjoyable, and fulfilling parasocial relationship. Thanks for
<v Speaker 1>all the great years, and here's the many hapa pair
<v Speaker 1>of versaries in the future. I recently procured The Stranger
<v Speaker 1>Things Pinballs, and one of my favorite things about it
<v Speaker 1>is the audio cue of David Harbor bellowing extra ball
<v Speaker 1>when said ball is procured. I can't help but repeat it.
<v Speaker 1>I just love how it sounds. What are your favorite
<v Speaker 1>audio cues from pinball or other games that you find
<v Speaker 1>bouncing around in your head after long after you're done
<v Speaker 1>playing consensual warm hugs to each of you. Jason from
<v Speaker 1>Salt Lake City wo thank you.
<v Speaker 6>I mean I think, yeah, go ahead, Dan, you're the
<v Speaker 6>five if I'm counting well, he said, other games like
<v Speaker 6>if the five is the five from punch Out Super
<v Speaker 6>punch Out, oh five, yeah yeah yeah, and then all
<v Speaker 6>the countries from Street Fighter to by.
<v Speaker 1>Blow Yeah yeah, oh, countries from Street Fighter that are
<v Speaker 1>like Tiger Tiger upper cut.
<v Speaker 4>My got got into a really big fight with a
<v Speaker 4>friend because he's like, he says, Hyper not Tiger, And
<v Speaker 4>you can like, look at the moveless. You ever have
<v Speaker 4>like one of those friends who just like they'll never
<v Speaker 4>back down. So it's like, here it is, here's the
<v Speaker 4>moveless in the game. It's just Tiger.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Like, oh, they made a mistake.
<v Speaker 6>It's like they He swore up and down that he
<v Speaker 6>played Resident Evil on Genesis, right, does he still think that.
<v Speaker 6>I think it was just one bad interaction. I don't
<v Speaker 6>know if they've talked this then.
<v Speaker 5>Trying to find the David Harbor extra ball, I've definitely
<v Speaker 5>heard it.
<v Speaker 1>I don't.
<v Speaker 5>I feel like they edited in later. I can't remember,
<v Speaker 5>but that stuffs great, Like but I think, uh, I
<v Speaker 5>think Adam's family still has like the best ones because
<v Speaker 5>they're all from the movie.
<v Speaker 3>There's good ones.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, there's like, uh, there's just so many like funny
<v Speaker 5>like slingshot ones where it's just like push.
<v Speaker 4>There's just a lot of like really.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, they just use that entire downboard in such
<v Speaker 5>a satisfying way, and it sounds and it's like just
<v Speaker 5>shitty enough where you can make it out from the movie.
<v Speaker 5>But it's been like compressing just so I could fit
<v Speaker 5>on whatever you know, storage they have on that thing
<v Speaker 5>and add so much more like you know, style and
<v Speaker 5>and kind of like retro energy to it. For me,
<v Speaker 5>i'd probably because now it's all you know, everything sounds great,
<v Speaker 5>and it's just sort of if it's not the if
<v Speaker 5>it's not the original, you know, uh call out from
<v Speaker 5>a from the the the ip it's taken from, it's
<v Speaker 5>just sort of you know, it's just someone doing an
<v Speaker 5>impression of it. But yeah, for me, i'd definitely say
<v Speaker 5>Adam's Family for sure.
<v Speaker 1>Lovely any other any other sound cues boys, Oh, I
<v Speaker 1>have a million of them in my head at all times,
<v Speaker 1>and you know we're talking about that Marvel Maximum collection.
<v Speaker 4>So yeah, the Colossus like that thing is just my
<v Speaker 4>maybe all time favorite sound in general. And then the
<v Speaker 4>announcer from Smash Brothers just say yeah names like for
<v Speaker 4>some reason, Beyonetta is like ba the way you do
<v Speaker 4>say that a lot. I think I said that three
<v Speaker 4>packs a lot. I'll just be kind of walking around
<v Speaker 4>like but Banada, mister Game and Watch is a little
<v Speaker 4>pads there, Mister Game and Watch. It's like startled him
<v Speaker 4>or something, right right, He's like surprise, like wait, this man.
<v Speaker 2>Holding I was just getting ready for my my game show.
<v Speaker 2>Name that game ad, all right, I have put it
<v Speaker 2>in our chat here and then I think I had
<v Speaker 2>put it in the stream elements. Let me se if
<v Speaker 2>it's actually gonna come up, jan Maybe it won't, but
<v Speaker 2>it is.
<v Speaker 4>Let's see here. Let me make sure I cover the name,
<v Speaker 4>all right.
<v Speaker 2>So I'm only showing half the ad because the other
<v Speaker 2>half will make it very obvious.
<v Speaker 4>But it's Jerry.
<v Speaker 2>It's like a Jerry Springer stage and there's yeah, there's
<v Speaker 2>two guys here. There are another two guys over here
<v Speaker 2>as well, making the same sort of like, Oh, I'm
<v Speaker 2>upset with my friend a face that this and the
<v Speaker 2>thing says blank tore our friendship apart?
<v Speaker 1>So what is black?
<v Speaker 3>And I don't know this?
<v Speaker 4>I mean it seems like it would be Mario Party
<v Speaker 4>maybe right, And I'm more trying to figure out what
<v Speaker 4>like era it is.
<v Speaker 2>So to Jerry Spring reference, we can I could start think, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>late ninety maybe a little bit later, but yeah, that's
<v Speaker 2>not too far off for sure.
<v Speaker 5>You got Ben Savage all the way to the left.
<v Speaker 5>Mike said, Mario Party. That is incorrect.
<v Speaker 1>At first, when you were holding up the magazine ad,
<v Speaker 1>I thought you were showing us a picture of Mega
<v Speaker 1>sixty four.
<v Speaker 4>It does kind of look like them a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, is it on?
<v Speaker 2>It is a Nintendo sixty four game.
<v Speaker 4>That is correct.
<v Speaker 5>Okay, Smash Okay, it is not Smash Couts. Is it
<v Speaker 5>a first party It's got to be super small. It's
<v Speaker 5>got to be like one one word because the text,
<v Speaker 5>the spacing of the text, it can't fit me.
<v Speaker 1>Is it one?
<v Speaker 3>Gods?
<v Speaker 4>So what was the thing?
<v Speaker 2>It's first party? Is a first party game. I don't
<v Speaker 2>think that will help you necessarily. I'll tell you that,
<v Speaker 2>But technically it is a first party game. It's not
<v Speaker 2>it is not what else?
<v Speaker 1>I forget what I said?
<v Speaker 2>Is it Smash It's not Smash Brothers?
<v Speaker 4>No? Is it? Is it a Pokemon's it's not Pokemon.
<v Speaker 4>It's got to be a short word doom. It's not
<v Speaker 4>doom is a good guess.
<v Speaker 2>It's not got to be a multiplayer it is. It
<v Speaker 2>is a multiplayer game, and it's not star fucks less
<v Speaker 2>technically multiple you know less first party than that is?
<v Speaker 4>It is it rare? Is it a rare game?
<v Speaker 2>That's your thing along decent lines now, But it's not.
<v Speaker 2>It's not any of the rare games.
<v Speaker 4>No, is it a sequel.
<v Speaker 2>It's a game that, like Nintendo, was published often before,
<v Speaker 2>but it is not necessarily a game that you would
<v Speaker 2>say that is a Nintendo game.
<v Speaker 4>People are saying Golden Eye and Chat notts. No, I
<v Speaker 4>think Golden Tetrisrianship apart. It's short word is nice.
<v Speaker 1>No, the new Tetris together.
<v Speaker 4>There you go, Yeah, there you go.
<v Speaker 5>Forgot about I didn't know tetrub.
<v Speaker 3>We gotta keep doing that.
<v Speaker 2>To get my old magazines out. Sure, yeah, and I
<v Speaker 2>guess if you say so, Will loves it.
<v Speaker 1>Let's go, yeah, Okay, we'll keep doing that. Everybody, all right?
<v Speaker 1>That about does it? For emails once again, a moment
<v Speaker 1>of zen. Send those two bombcasta giant bomb dot com
<v Speaker 1>if you have any fun magazine ads from yesteryear. You
<v Speaker 1>can send those our way as well, and Grub can
<v Speaker 1>play his magazine game. Yeah, bombcasta giant bomb dot com
<v Speaker 1>apologies if we don't get your emails, we genuinely now
<v Speaker 1>get a lot of them, and that warms my heart
<v Speaker 1>as someone that had to scrub through the same three emailers,
<v Speaker 1>and I was happy then. I was happy when it
<v Speaker 1>was just three people emailing and a bunch of ads.
<v Speaker 1>But now it's those three people plus a bunch of others,
<v Speaker 1>So I'm very thankful for that. Mister Manati hit me
<v Speaker 1>with some YouTube super chats. Have we got it? Is?
<v Speaker 4>Sure? Sure, Migsy says, send it, Matt is without fierces.
<v Speaker 4>Pour one out for Myriant uh rip is one of
<v Speaker 4>the great ones. Yep, yep, that's that's said.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, today's Today's today.
<v Speaker 4>Goodbye Myriat Big frushtraty Sim says, what are you most
<v Speaker 4>proud of building in Pacopia? I don't think I've felt
<v Speaker 4>anything particularly impressive. It's very all functional to beat the game,
<v Speaker 4>but I love seeing stuff people are doing. Uh thin goes.
<v Speaker 4>I think it was Mary who showed me somebody made
<v Speaker 4>an olive garden it's incredible, incredible. Hell, I loved it.
<v Speaker 4>Uh So, I saw somebody make a theater using a
<v Speaker 4>lot of the neon blocks recently, like in the very
<v Speaker 4>nineties megaplex kind of thing. So tons of cool stuff
<v Speaker 4>happening there, makes the sense. Have you tried or have
<v Speaker 4>you guys tried other kinds of sausages? Yeah, I've had
<v Speaker 4>a sausage and dewey Kiya Basa chicken Apple.
<v Speaker 3>Chick Place, Helopino cheddar.
<v Speaker 1>That's good. Oh yeah, yeah, blood sausages. No, it's delicious.
<v Speaker 4>It is because boy, I had that and I thought
<v Speaker 4>it was not delicious. I thought it I thought it
<v Speaker 4>tasted like blood, which I mean, I guess it's supposed to,
<v Speaker 4>so strange.
<v Speaker 5>I don't think it is.
<v Speaker 4>Nigsy, says Mike Vanaughty. Can you please do an impersonation
<v Speaker 4>of butt Head? I think I'm much better at doing
<v Speaker 4>Beavis like I can do the polio like I am Cornholio.
<v Speaker 4>I need tippy from my Yeah, that's not what, shut
<v Speaker 4>up Beavis.
<v Speaker 1>It's not bad.
<v Speaker 4>I don't sell yourself short pal the best like huh
<v Speaker 4>oh right, that's very good. Oh yeah, says being John Malkovich.
<v Speaker 4>But it's being a Walter Crunk.
<v Speaker 1>Right.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, zombie porn says. Can we call it grub
<v Speaker 4>maxing when someone forgets something within five minutes of learning it? Also,
<v Speaker 4>what would Jerff maxing Jeff Maxine would be?
<v Speaker 5>I think I think it would just be like, no,
<v Speaker 5>I don't think you dislike that more than you think
<v Speaker 5>you do, and then just kind of one upping the
<v Speaker 5>disliking of a thing I'm not.
<v Speaker 4>That's happy. Yeah, I mean it's just like this is
<v Speaker 4>like an escalating version of that. Yeah. Next up is
<v Speaker 4>Matt Without Fears? Is Love a good rom hack? I'm
<v Speaker 4>currently playing Pokemon Heart and Soul, which is a gent
<v Speaker 4>to remake built on Pokemon Emerald. Okay, Uh, there are
<v Speaker 4>even more great original games built from scratch, like Pokemon
<v Speaker 4>and Bound and Pokemon. Honestly, I've heard some of good
<v Speaker 4>things about some of these, uh these rom hacks and
<v Speaker 4>finn made versions of Pokemon that are supposed to be amazing.
<v Speaker 1>It.
<v Speaker 4>I bet I would enjoy playing those more so than
<v Speaker 4>some of the newer ones. And now, I don't know,
<v Speaker 4>I have some hope for Waves and Winds, but uh,
<v Speaker 4>Scarland Violet was it?
<v Speaker 1>It?
<v Speaker 4>I just I liked it when it was pixelated. I
<v Speaker 4>like the pixel y. I get Chokemon games. You know,
<v Speaker 4>it'selt good.
<v Speaker 1>It works like that.
<v Speaker 4>Mixy says Mike Manaughty. Would Disney ever bring back Darkling Duck?
<v Speaker 4>I think they are. I think seth Uh. What's the
<v Speaker 4>one that looks like Jurff?
<v Speaker 1>What's his name? Rogan?
<v Speaker 4>Rogan? I think he's working on it. The voice doctor
<v Speaker 4>Jim Cummins has talked about it. He showed up in
<v Speaker 4>the recent Duck Tails, and he showed up in that
<v Speaker 4>Chippendale Rescuinators movie. So I think they're bringing them back. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>And then I you know, Ian Be says, do you
<v Speaker 4>think The Places six will be delayed? And if so,
<v Speaker 4>by how long?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>I mean I think it'll be, you know, delayed internally, right.
<v Speaker 2>I think I think it's not coming out till twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty eight the earliest. At this point, there was definitely
<v Speaker 2>a time when they were thinking twenty twenty seven, But
<v Speaker 2>I mean, why not early twenty twenty nine. Just stretch
<v Speaker 2>this out as long as they can. I think they
<v Speaker 2>will yeah out.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I certainly just don't want to hear about it.
<v Speaker 4>Plays and six right now, it's hard to imagine what
<v Speaker 4>that pitch looks like at the moment, Migsy says Mike,
<v Speaker 4>manaughty or your Disney trips cheaper than a PlayStation five pro.
<v Speaker 4>It's like a if it's a weekend trip, uh me,
<v Speaker 4>and you know, I know some I have some friends
<v Speaker 4>now and I can kind of, you know, make some
<v Speaker 4>things happen, So sure a week trip. No, definitely know, uh,
<v Speaker 4>Maggy says Jan. Would you play single player Marathon Trilogy? Yeah, Jane.
<v Speaker 4>Would you play the classic Macintosh first person shooter series Marathon?
<v Speaker 1>No? Hell a, right unless people wanted that, then Okay.
<v Speaker 4>We'll see people say a lot of things that they
<v Speaker 4>want that they don't really want. Sometimes you gotta be careful.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 4>You think that if you guys is from Eggy, You
<v Speaker 4>think that if you guys had all grown up in
<v Speaker 4>the same neighborhood, you would have been friends as kids. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I'm like, I think me and Dan definitely would have
<v Speaker 4>been in the same sir. Cool, I don't know, might
<v Speaker 4>have been too cool for me.
<v Speaker 1>Man.
<v Speaker 6>I feel like anyone if I knew anyone around my
<v Speaker 6>neighborhood that played video games.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, as soon as you find out you play games,
<v Speaker 4>it would be like maybe all that stuff and that's enteranious.
<v Speaker 4>I mean all of a lot of my friends were
<v Speaker 4>like and I was not one of them, but my
<v Speaker 4>friends were like very much like the Honor kids, the Valvictorians,
<v Speaker 4>like the super smart. Somehow I fell into that crowd.
<v Speaker 2>My first friend group was and then I moved from
<v Speaker 2>Michigan to Ohio and I was with all the Ohio
<v Speaker 2>Garralics after that.
<v Speaker 1>After that point, it's like.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, everyone I went to school with as a kid
<v Speaker 6>was like obsessed with football, you know, and like did
<v Speaker 6>not care about video games.
<v Speaker 4>So uh see here now Rio Roku who says, since
<v Speaker 4>Dan is on a game show kick, can we get
<v Speaker 4>a Jeopardy style game between him and I patch Wolf
<v Speaker 4>over nineties wrestling trivia? Maybe cut a promo or too.
<v Speaker 3>I would win?
<v Speaker 1>That be fair.
<v Speaker 4>I think I said this during Pexi's But I love
<v Speaker 4>that who wants to be a millionaire has become like
<v Speaker 4>or part of our identity.
<v Speaker 6>It's so funny to me twenty twenty six, being on
<v Speaker 6>a stage and asking people questions about Delta Burke from
<v Speaker 6>Designing Women.
<v Speaker 1>That is so.
<v Speaker 3>And there's a crowd that shows up for it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, uh huh. Last one here, also from Migsie thanks,
<v Speaker 4>thank you so much. Migsy says, every time Dan lifts
<v Speaker 4>up the desk, it resembles a WWE entrance. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 4>got my own Cody Vader. Yeah yeah, who's that jumping
<v Speaker 4>up the sky?
<v Speaker 1>All right?
<v Speaker 4>Thank you for the super tests.
<v Speaker 1>He's not working pants, Thank you, mister Minatti. Boys, we
<v Speaker 1>got u. You know, even though we're coming back from
<v Speaker 1>packs E, we still have a fully packed week. As
<v Speaker 1>we've mentioned. Let me see the pps in chat gang.

<v Speaker 1>of a lot of things get said. I'll just say
<v Speaker 1>that tomorrow the blight continues. Blink and you'll miss it.
<v Speaker 1>Dan only has forty or so minutes left the game,
<v Speaker 1>but I feel like you've got the info in there.
<v Speaker 6>I will say stay tuned for tomorrow because I do
<v Speaker 6>have many hours of dental operations directly before Blake Clubs.
<v Speaker 6>So assuming it all, I'm niress the fuck up. I'm
<v Speaker 6>gonna be numb the fuck up. I don't know what
<v Speaker 6>level I will be at with all of those things,
<v Speaker 6>but I do gitimately want to play it and do
<v Speaker 6>Blake Club because it does not do me any favors
<v Speaker 6>to delay this a week.
<v Speaker 1>So we'll see.
<v Speaker 4>Jeff and I'll be ready to pivot and play Marvel
<v Speaker 4>Maximum Collection or something.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah case, if it wouldn't work out, let's do. If
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't work out, let's do Marathon. Uh Boy, Mail

<v Speaker 4>It is that Gabby Jay, yay, you do that? Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>there's a there's in Street Fighter three, the announcer like
<v Speaker 4>he had to pick your style at one point. When
<v Speaker 4>you pick it, he goes, yeah that makes sense.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's very funny.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, that makes it. That makes sense, buddy, fantastic.
