Now here's Matt Jones. 00:01:05 Speaker 4: Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight h twenty two eighty seven some more not great basketball news. Tennessee has just gotten a commitment from the number one player in the portal. Juke Harris was the number one player in the portal, was going to go to the NBA Draft, has decided to withdraw from the draft. Most people had originally thought he was gonna go to Michigan, but he's going to go to Tennessee. He averaged twenty two points a game last year. 00:01:31 Speaker 2: Man their Tennessee's killing it. 00:01:34 Speaker 4: This will be the best team Tennessee's, the most talent Tennessee's ever had. Who knows if it'll be the best team, but this will be the best. So that means two of our rivals have absolutely completely loaded up on talent. I mean, our two biggest rivals are are Louisville and Tennessee. Yeah, and these this will be This will be the most talented team Tennessee has ever had. Louisville has probably had more talented teams, but not many, and will be very very tent. 00:02:00 Speaker 2: It just another punching the gut when something like this happened. To feel like preak. 00:02:04 Speaker 4: I'm not letting everything be negative. I'm going to talk about a couple of of well I won't say what's positive, but just UK baseball wins the series against Tennessee. Had to win it or they were probably out of the tournament. They won it, nearly swept, but they got it. 00:02:22 Speaker 2: They had to get that one. You know, think they've not gone as well for the baseball team this year. They're getting out of the nitty gritty. They had to get this series and they got it. So good for them. 00:02:29 Speaker 5: Two of three. 00:02:30 Speaker 4: They're kind of now probably still in the bubble, but on the good side of the bubble. True, but they still got two more series and they're gonna have to probably win at least one of them. 00:02:38 Speaker 2: Yeah right, I think so too. They got to be one of these two series. 00:02:40 Speaker 4: You're gonna need to win one of the two. Did you see what happened at the Newark Airport last night? 00:02:44 Speaker 2: No, I haven't heard this story. 00:02:46 Speaker 5: Did you see this, Shane? 00:02:47 Speaker 6: I don't think so. 00:02:48 Speaker 4: Crazy video a plane was landing, but they just keep the Newark Airport. It's a shame because I liked it new It's I actually liked the Newer airport. 00:02:55 Speaker 7: Huh. 00:02:55 Speaker 5: It's a lot nicer now than it used to be. But it was coming in it hit a light. 00:02:59 Speaker 4: Poul like I'm on the way in, yeah, and it like then kind of lost control a little bit and hit a semi truck grief but landed safely, and the people in the semi truck are fine. 00:03:15 Speaker 6: Wow, that's a miracle right there. 00:03:17 Speaker 4: Yeah, And that is a miracle. Plane landed safely and the truck is okay. There's video of the guys in the truck. 00:03:24 Speaker 3: Imagine you're in that truck and here comes a plane. 00:03:30 Speaker 4: Yeah. And you know, I've always wondered at airports. The Newark one is is actually especially like this because it's in the middle of the city. But Louisville's is like this too. Lexington's you kind of land in your you're not low when you come by, but like Newark, and this is true at Louisville too, Like you're right next to the watersen at Louisville. When you land at Newark, you're right next to the interstate. I've often wondered, how's there never something? 00:03:57 Speaker 2: Well, I guess there was. 00:04:00 Speaker 4: Did light pole hit a line and pull the light pole out? Caused it to kind of jerk and it hit the truck but then still hit the landing and stuck it. 00:04:10 Speaker 6: It wasn't a Spirit Airlines plane, was it. 00:04:13 Speaker 3: No, Well they're gone, yes, because he doesn't end up spears just gone. 00:04:16 Speaker 5: So if you had a flight, what happens if you get the money back? 00:04:19 Speaker 6: No refunds, no refunds done, they're. 00:04:22 Speaker 2: Poking in your money. 00:04:23 Speaker 5: And well, hang on, I didn't know that. No refunds, that's the report I heard. 00:04:28 Speaker 2: No refunds. 00:04:29 Speaker 4: So if you had a flight scheduled in a couple weeks, it's just you're done. 00:04:32 Speaker 2: And apparently they were taking reservations up to like the last minute, taking people's money up to the last. 00:04:37 Speaker 3: Worried about their Google review at that point, you know, like they're done anyway, So what do we. 00:04:42 Speaker 5: Can I'm surprised that's legal, though, I'm surprised. I guess bankruptcy is bankruptcy. So if you had, you know, bankruptcy, you're wiping away your debts. And I guess, look, if. 00:04:51 Speaker 6: You fly a Spirit, that's just a chance you get. 00:04:53 Speaker 4: But that is I mean, that's that's low budget to not give people their money back. 00:04:58 Speaker 6: Yeah, well I didn't know that. I just it's a low budget. 00:05:03 Speaker 5: Yeah, but I just assumed you'd get your money back. Point, how mad would you be? Yeah, if you just booked a flight that day. 00:05:09 Speaker 4: And I will say, if you booked a flight that day, that's on you. Because there were reports they were gonna shut down if you were like Shandon, I don't believe it. 00:05:16 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take it. They'll work it out. 00:05:18 Speaker 3: Here's here's what it came out fifty minutes ago. That says Spirit says most customers refunded most, So I guess they did refund them after. 00:05:27 Speaker 5: Well, how did they decide who they didn't? 00:05:29 Speaker 6: You're the guy that didn't get refunded by Spirit. 00:05:32 Speaker 4: If I didn't get refunded and you told me that most did, I'd just be mad. 00:05:36 Speaker 6: How does that work? Is there a lottery for who gets their money back? 00:05:39 Speaker 4: And when you have bankruptcy, there's an order as to how people get their money back. And usually if you're the seller of a product, consumers who have purchased it, but they are like first in line, so I don't know. But but they haven't gone through bankruptcy proceedings yet, so I don't know what. I don't know how they decided who to give it to and who not to. 00:05:59 Speaker 3: Well, that's why you spend a few more dollars on a reputable airline. 00:06:02 Speaker 4: I mean, but you know, I mean people got to get people need to get ready. In about a month, maybe a month and a half, these flight costs are about to skyrocket, like this jet fuel thing. First of all, when I was up, I was up in northern Kentucky. Saturday, gas is five dollars there. 00:06:24 Speaker 5: I mean it's it's four here, but it's five just in like Villa Hills in northern Kentucky. 00:06:29 Speaker 2: Yeah. Something I saw the report were like Ohio was one of the highest states. So I guess right across the river from Ohio they're bleeding into there. Yeah. 00:06:36 Speaker 4: But the jet fuel thing, like I would say to you, if you know you need a flight at the mid to late something, get it now. 00:06:43 Speaker 5: If you wait, these flights are. 00:06:45 Speaker 4: About to explode from what I understand in terms of the cost because they're the jet fuel day. I think I saw they have five weeks of it left. 00:06:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, if you why not book it now? 00:06:57 Speaker 3: Then I am save yourself a lot of money. 00:07:00 Speaker 2: Shannon's doing it right now. 00:07:01 Speaker 4: Yeah, Shannon will not be answering your calls the rest this hour, because he's going to be booking. 00:07:05 Speaker 2: His next flight, his next vacation. 00:07:08 Speaker 5: Yeah. So anyway, so that, Wow, that's happening. What are we gonna say? 00:07:13 Speaker 6: I was trying. I was actually trying to the phone. 00:07:16 Speaker 5: There she's trying. Shannon has to do a bunch of stuff here, I understand. 00:07:20 Speaker 7: Then. 00:07:21 Speaker 4: Last thing, My Canes won the first game of the of their plasfors. But what I thought you would make care about is did you see their beer skate? 00:07:29 Speaker 5: Shannon? 00:07:30 Speaker 2: Their beer? What the beer skate? Did you see that? 00:07:33 Speaker 5: No? 00:07:34 Speaker 4: Look it up? Look up on your phone. The Carolina Hurricanes for game one, they debuted a beer skate twenty eight out they took. It's the form of a skate and it's twenty eight ounces of beer in essentially a skate with the blade. 00:07:51 Speaker 2: It's pretty cool. 00:07:52 Speaker 6: It is. 00:07:53 Speaker 2: That's actually really cool. 00:07:54 Speaker 5: They sold five thousand of them the first night. 00:07:58 Speaker 2: I would want one. 00:07:59 Speaker 5: I don't even drink beer, but you'd want one when I would, of course, I would listen. If somebody went and got it, I'll pay you good American dollars. That is really cool. But that's a very cool thing. Do you like having cups that sort of are unique like that. 00:08:16 Speaker 3: I don't normally like drinking out of a shoe, But you know. 00:08:20 Speaker 2: They sold over cool. They said almost forty seven thousand of them, forty seven. 00:08:25 Speaker 5: Hundred, which is why I said, yeah, five thousand. But it's very cool. 00:08:29 Speaker 2: That's very cool. 00:08:29 Speaker 6: I'm gonna find you one on EBA. 00:08:32 Speaker 5: I would like one. 00:08:32 Speaker 4: I mean, like, how much cool hurricane I already have a lot of hurricanes here, but I think that's very neat. 00:08:38 Speaker 2: So they just doing it just for the playoffs, don't know. 00:08:41 Speaker 5: I think they were just doing it for the first game. 00:08:42 Speaker 2: The first game. 00:08:43 Speaker 5: Yeah, so it looked awesome. Taylor, go ahead, Taylor. 00:08:49 Speaker 8: Hey, Matt, So was calling about the Kentucky Roses movie. Okay, so it was okay, but the we found it kind of cool because our I run a coffee trailer. I won't say the name because I don't want to self promote. 00:09:05 Speaker 2: You can do that. I'll let you do it. Because we were a. 00:09:10 Speaker 8: Calliver coffee company. Okay, so we run a coffee trailer here at Rosamund Coffee and Louisville. We were actually on the set serving the crew of the movie during filming, which was pretty cool, and you know, we just thought it was cool. But we were actually watching some of the opening scenes and you can actually barely see our coffee trailer actually in the movie, So we thought that was pretty cool. 00:09:32 Speaker 5: That is neat. 00:09:33 Speaker 4: I heard there's a lot of scenes around Louisville in it. 00:09:36 Speaker 5: Is that true? 00:09:37 Speaker 8: There are? Oh yeah, they filmed all over Louisville, uh, which was cool. And Shelbyville. Those were kind of the two big locations. 00:09:44 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:09:44 Speaker 8: They The other thing they actually we found out because of the movie. There's apparently three speakeasies at Churchill Down's. 00:09:53 Speaker 4: You know, I didn't know about that either. I appreciate the call. Somebody wrote about that that there are three places you can go drink at Churchill Downs that you have to know where to go, and they do you know where they are? 00:10:05 Speaker 2: Oh, I know I've heard this though. 00:10:07 Speaker 5: That's kind of interesting. 00:10:08 Speaker 2: It is very interesting. 00:10:09 Speaker 4: There's no more like segregated. And when you're segregation, you think by race. This is my class economically segregated place than than Churchill Downs. Yeah, and you know, now they have it to where they have so many different places and if you get one, you can't necessarily go to the other ones. Like, but there's so many new lounges and stuff there. But they're they apparently they've taken away, like they'll never be as many people at the Derby as there used to because they're just they've taken away all the and the Don't you know what the infield costs now? 00:10:38 Speaker 2: It's like one hundred dollars, one hundred and thirty two dollars. It's crazy, that's your common. 00:10:43 Speaker 6: Fan, Tom. It was fifty, but that was twenty years ago. 00:10:46 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It used to it was fifty forever. I think when I was in college it was like thirty. 00:10:51 Speaker 2: One hundred and thirty dollars. 00:10:53 Speaker 5: But one hundred and thirty dollars for the infield. 00:10:55 Speaker 2: That's a lot, and people pay it. 00:10:58 Speaker 4: Well, I don't think as many do as they I think they've what they've done is they've maximized money in all the rich places. Uh, but they're not selling as many in just the general population places. 00:11:10 Speaker 5: I can get you, you know, the tickets, the tickets for the Derby, I'm not even gonna tell you. 00:11:17 Speaker 2: Just for the Oaks. 00:11:19 Speaker 5: I couldn't believe what I had to spend just to get in, just to get in, just to get a decent like it is so expensive now. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: And your drinks are expensive. 00:11:29 Speaker 5: Well now everything's free though. It's all inclusive. 00:11:33 Speaker 2: Now, I see you're in that one of those areas. 00:11:35 Speaker 5: Everything's like that. It is the whole the whole place. They're like one. I don't know if the end. 00:11:41 Speaker 4: I don't think the infield is but everything but the infield now is all inclusive, the whole place, is it? 00:11:48 Speaker 2: Really? 00:11:49 Speaker 5: Yeah, so the area you're in, you had food and drinks in the area everybody's in. Wow, it's all like that. It's crazy, Dan, go ahead, Dan. 00:11:59 Speaker 9: Hey, it's Dan from Rocky Mountain and I want to throw some positively on the youth. Are UK sayings about Pope? We just need to step my take a deep breath, okay, because you think when he got here, I mean the coverard was Vader any kind of good team together. I understand. 00:12:21 Speaker 4: Listen, Dan, I get that, Dan, I get that, But like I get I get that, the cupboard was not the cupboard was bear. But I mean, I'm gonna be honest with you, Dan, that's college basketball now. The cupboard is bear everywhere, And what what some people might say, is that team he put together in the first year when the cupboard was bear might be better than every team he's put together after that? Do you go okay? Well, I mean, you know, yes. I don't think you can say anything except that first year of Pope was a remarkable year to come in, build a roster in two and a half weeks, get farther than Kentucky had gotten since pre COVID. 00:13:09 Speaker 5: Deserves all the credit in the world. That's why everybody was so excited last year. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: Correct. 00:13:14 Speaker 5: But the question is, and then last year on paper built a really good roster, but then paper didn't turn into practice, and right now the paper's not looking great. Now the paper may end up being wrong, but we'll see. But I can understand why people are skeptical the idea though, we just need to all back off and letting. I mean, this is Kentucky. People don't just back off. 00:13:41 Speaker 4: I think it's Alan Cutler tweeted out something like you can't judge the roster till it's over. I do agree with that, let it finish. But my worry is I don't think we have that much money left. That's my worry. Now, maybe I'll be proven wrong. Maybe there'll be a source of money just come popping out. 00:13:59 Speaker 2: And you had the whole season to work on bringing freshman players in the top freshman players. 00:14:04 Speaker 4: And that's another thing, like we tried to get all these guys. It's not like we can say, well, Pope didn't want them. We tried to get all. 00:14:14 Speaker 2: Of them, all of them. They had them on campus, and we just didn't get them. 00:14:17 Speaker 5: Scott, go ahead, Scott. 00:14:20 Speaker 10: Going, guys, they got a quick scenario for you. 00:14:23 Speaker 5: Okay, stay next year. 00:14:25 Speaker 10: Pope gets a seven eight seed in the nca Tournament, then goes to the sweet sixteen, but dot of them makes it. But Dova makes a public that he wants the ktect A touching job. 00:14:41 Speaker 2: What do you do. 00:14:43 Speaker 5: I don't think you can fire a guy who got to sweet sixteen that went to your school. 00:14:48 Speaker 4: I just don't. I just don't think they would do that. And I also don't think Billy Donovan's gonna say I publicly want the job when a kid that played there went right after. 00:14:57 Speaker 2: He's not gonna do that. 00:15:00 Speaker 10: I can do that. 00:15:01 Speaker 4: So but but even if it theoretically happened, I appreciate the call. You're not gonna They're not gonna fire a guy who has a good, a decent season and gets this because if you're a seven or eight seed you get sweet sixteen, that means you upset a one or two seed. 00:15:15 Speaker 2: And if this is the roster we're going with, that would almost be overachieving to get to the sweet sixteen. 00:15:19 Speaker 4: Yeah, A five nine twenty two eighty seven. Tell me about stocktor moorg. 00:15:22 Speaker 2: S, Doctor Mortgage, Stoctor dot Com, NMLSA two five nine Equal Housing Lendar. They are great people. Dont know, great people to get you to the closing table. Spring buying season, summer buying season is here, going out this afternoon to show some houses. What's hostile? 00:15:41 Speaker 2: People are fighting? You know there's do. 00:15:43 Speaker 5: You know it was a hostile market? 00:15:45 Speaker 10: Share? 00:15:45 Speaker 6: No, I do know what hostile? 00:15:46 Speaker 5: When I bought a house was very friendly. 00:15:48 Speaker 2: It was also an emerging market, which was my derby horse that didn't do very well on Saturday. But Stocker Mortgage can help you. Doctor dot Com NMLS A two five nine equal housing lender. 00:15:57 Speaker 4: We'll take a break, be right back. It's KSR. Welcome back taking Sports Radio by the way. Tomorrow night in Louisville at Carmichael's Bookstore on Frankfort Avenue at seven o'clock, I'm interviewing Jordan Ritter Kahan. He wrote a book called American Men, which is a look at like young men and the things they deal with in twenty twenty six, and I'm interviewing him at seven o'clock at Carmichael's Bookstore. I've started I started reading the book this weekend to get ready for it, and it's very, very good. It follows like four got four men and things in their life they deal with, et cetera, and sort of talks about, you know, masculinity in twenty twenty six. I'm the perfect person for that because I'm so masculine, Shanon, I think you realize that. 00:16:45 Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, I thought you know. 00:16:47 Speaker 2: Masculinity. 00:16:48 Speaker 4: But it's actually a great book, and I'm interviewing him tomorrow night at seven o'clock. And you can register on the Carmichael's bookstore there. It's it's the one on Frankfort Avenue, not on the one on Bartstown Road. 00:17:00 Speaker 2: Have you done something like this before? 00:17:01 Speaker 4: No, he asked me too. He works at the Ringer Kyle Mann, who's a friend of who's a Kentucky fan who works at the Ringer. Yes, he works with him, and he asked me if I would do it, And so I'm doing it. 00:17:12 Speaker 2: Cool to night, So good job job, young sportsman. 00:17:16 Speaker 5: Well, I'm just doing the interview. He'll be doing the talking. 00:17:20 Speaker 2: It asked a tough, heart hitting question. 00:17:21 Speaker 4: Why I don't think it's hard hitting. I'm just kind of setting him up to talk about his book, et cetera. So, by the way, one little piece of news before we go to the phones. Woke Nate Morris Shannon dropped out of the race. So we may not have any more of those ads. 00:17:36 Speaker 6: I used to get them every day. I don't what I'm looking at on YouTube. Nate Morris comes up. 00:17:42 Speaker 4: Yeah, So Andy Barr wins the who can say they love Donald Trump More contest because Donald Trump said he loved and Andy back and they gave each other the Rose. And now Andy Barr well, although he's still runn against Daniel Cameron. Right, So now all the ads are about how bad Daniel Cameron. 00:18:03 Speaker 2: Is for the past two months. I bet I've seen three billion Morris ads. 00:18:08 Speaker 4: Well, now you don't have to see it anymore. Trump's gonna appoint him an ambassador to an unspecified country. 00:18:15 Speaker 5: Shannon. That means he's going somewhere not fun. 00:18:17 Speaker 6: I mean, you can go anywhere in the world. 00:18:22 Speaker 2: That's a good question. 00:18:23 Speaker 4: Where would you like to Where would you like to be an ambassador? You could go anywhere in the world. Jamaica, Jamaica, Well, we don't probably have a lot of difficult interactions with Jamaica. 00:18:35 Speaker 2: That'd be a great job. 00:18:36 Speaker 5: I actually think that would be a good job for you. 00:18:38 Speaker 4: Yeah, so would you You wouldn't want something with stress whole You wouldn't want something where you're like broker in peace. 00:18:44 Speaker 2: Absolutely not. 00:18:45 Speaker 5: You just want a job where you don't have to do anything. 00:18:47 Speaker 2: Correct and wear my speedo on the beach and Margerita. 00:18:51 Speaker 4: By the way, we are not. I just withdrew his appointment, Shannon. If I'm the president here the speedo, where would you want to go? 00:19:00 Speaker 3: You know, like, you don't want it to be a place that's going to be stressful. Yeah, yeah, so. 00:19:06 Speaker 6: I mean like London, I think would be good. 00:19:08 Speaker 2: Great Britain, So you want to be Britain? 00:19:09 Speaker 4: Well they have have you seen the diplomat They have very difficult things. 00:19:13 Speaker 6: They have a thing with Trump over the weekend, us all like. 00:19:15 Speaker 5: Uh, well the king, I think king was the king here? 00:19:18 Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, I knew. 00:19:19 Speaker 5: So you'd want to do London? 00:19:21 Speaker 6: Yeah, what about you? 00:19:22 Speaker 5: Well, there's not good enough for me there to Cloudy I think I would want to do. I don't know. 00:19:28 Speaker 2: Italy would be good. 00:19:29 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I came to mind. 00:19:31 Speaker 5: Italy I think would be a good one. Okay, Rome n. 00:19:35 Speaker 6: Good food and Israel so we could get a recruit, I do. 00:19:39 Speaker 4: I can't imagine the worst one than Israel. Can you imagine having to work all that out? 00:19:44 Speaker 10: No? 00:19:44 Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. 00:19:45 Speaker 4: All right, so you have this is Scott maiden is On. He's a state senator. And you may say, well, why are we having Scott maiden On? He's in Pineville. He's the god that was in the picture that everybody thought was right. Nice Mascanzi you're here, what's going on? 00:20:04 Speaker 10: Well? 00:20:05 Speaker 7: I just thought I better call in. I had several people over the weekend tell me that, you know, y'all were talking about me and was going to tell you that after you all started sharing the picture, I only had one hundred and sixty thousand views on my Facebook account. 00:20:23 Speaker 2: Well good, did you think you looked like Ryan? 00:20:26 Speaker 7: Well, I don't really know, you know, I couldn't really tell. I was standing in the sun, had my eyes all wadded up and everything, So I don't know. 00:20:34 Speaker 2: But that's how right figure out looks just like a but it was. 00:20:40 Speaker 4: I got a question for you, Scott. This will be a debate that you probably didn't know you were going to have. Ryan always makes fun of the flood wall in Pineval. Scott is from Pine Yes, I believe your dad had that flood wall built right. 00:20:55 Speaker 9: He did. 00:20:56 Speaker 7: He was mayor at the time, and we had a major flood in seventy seven, took out the whole town, lost fifty seven homes, a lot of people. 00:21:03 Speaker 5: So tell Ryan why he should not make fun of the flood wall. 00:21:09 Speaker 7: That floodwall has kept us, our community in our town from being flooded. That was a major flood. I think it was about fifty seven million dollars to build that floodwall back in the late seventies early eighties, So we've not flooded since then, and it's saved a lot of lives and property and homes. And a little story. I don't know if you've seen the YouTube that's out there. A lot of people say this is where they want to come if we're ever attacked, because we just shut the gates, see and keep everybody out. 00:21:40 Speaker 4: That's right now, Ryan, would you like to apologize to Scott for your negative comments of the floodwall over the years. 00:21:48 Speaker 2: Scott, my years, just enjoy my doppelganger. I want to apologize. Obviously, the wall works, and I had a floodince nineteen seventy seven, and you tell him you're sorry about what you've said about chain Rock. That was I'm going chain rock started rolling down that big hill. You better close that floodwall so maybe it'll block the rock from smashing the rest of the town. 00:22:05 Speaker 7: Yeah, well that's you know, that's been folklore forever. But a neat story on that was when I got elected state senator. I don't know if Matt will remember this or not. 00:22:16 Speaker 5: But at one minute, Scott real quick. 00:22:20 Speaker 7: Coach Stoops was talking about. You know, there was a lot of conversation about Coach stoops leavings that time, and Matt Sidwell, the mayor is not going to be there anymore. That rock may roll off on stoops and I think that's when the wheels was running off of him. 00:22:34 Speaker 2: So I say that. 00:22:36 Speaker 4: I don't know if I said that, but well, Scott, nice to hear from you. And I'm glad that our Rhyan's twin called in. 00:22:44 Speaker 7: All right, thank you guys. That good. 00:22:46 Speaker 5: Appreciate it. 00:22:46 Speaker 2: I'm sure he gets harassed all the time because people I think he's Brad Picks and he's saying I'm Brad Pitt all the time, and. 00:22:51 Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what that's what they usually say. 00:22:53 Speaker 2: I don't know how they except I'm sorry. It's a curse. We've got to live with. Scott's appreciated Scott. There you go, right, a doppelganger. 00:23:02 Speaker 4: So he had to apologize. Seeing in all the years he's talked trash about Pine. 00:23:06 Speaker 6: I'm just seeing Ryan talking to himself. Basically. I mean, the guy looks just like Ryan. 00:23:10 Speaker 5: You really do got more hair than you. 00:23:13 Speaker 4: He does incredibly handsome, exactly like him in these pictures. 00:23:18 Speaker 5: But he still seven. We'll take a call right after this. 00:23:21 Speaker 2: TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:23:26 Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:29 Speaker 6: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:31 Speaker 4: Text of the day from the text Machine. I like this one, Shannon. If we had the old award where we could give the Wendy's. 00:23:37 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but we don't. 00:23:39 Speaker 4: I heard Trump is making Nate Morris the Executive in residence to the United States Sport and What Sports and work Force. 00:23:47 Speaker 2: That's pretty good. That is good, and it's good. 00:23:49 Speaker 5: Well done. I'm buying a lot of topics. 00:23:51 Speaker 10: All right. 00:23:51 Speaker 5: I don't want to spend a lot of time on this. 00:23:53 Speaker 4: We will talk more about this tomorrow, but I just want to throw this out there because Oscar Combs, who the guy father of UK sports, had a strong statement the hair Leaders reporting that UK is going to sell naming rights to Memorial Coliseum historic Memorial Colisseum. Now maybe Wendy's Memorial Coliseum. Oscar Combs just tweeted out the day that happens is the day I will stop caring about UK sports. 00:24:25 Speaker 2: Wow, that's pretty powerful coming from him. 00:24:29 Speaker 4: That's a pretty I mean, that's a strong statement from Oscar. People can see the day. Here's what he says. The day UK commercializes the revered name Memorial Coliseum is the day I will no longer support UK or its leadership in any way in the future. This breaks my heart. Is everything for sale in the UK campus sadly looks like an answer is yes. I mean, that's the guy for people who don't know who Oscar is, and I think most of you do. But for people who don't know who he is, that's the guy that essentially started UK fan me like, there'd be no Matt Jones if there was not Oscar Combs. But Oscar didn't just started at Kentucky. You could make a strong argument he started it for all colleges in the country. I mean when he started the Cats Pause at its peak, there were only two things in the country like Cat's Palls. 00:25:17 Speaker 5: There's one at Notre Dame. I don't know what it's called in Cat's Paws. 00:25:21 Speaker 4: He literally delivered a newspaper to the entire state that was about UK athletics, and only Notre Dame had something like that. So I mean that's the when I say he's a godfather, like. 00:25:32 Speaker 2: That's not a stretch. 00:25:33 Speaker 4: To whatever extent you think we and I have been successful like Oscar did that long before the Internet. Ere So that's a strong statement to go, I'm not supporting UK sports anymore. 00:25:47 Speaker 5: Do you agree with him? 00:25:49 Speaker 2: A lot of people consider historical world costs hum hollow grounds and for them to commercialize it, I can see why they're upset. That's just the world we live in right now. Everything gets corporate sponsorships and. 00:26:04 Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's still But Reperina though, is still it's still reper Central Bank Center is like the building around Rupp is still They still haven't sold the arena yet, correct. You know, it's tough because Memorial Colosseum, the name Memorial Colisseum is like war memorials, right right, So it's not like it's like I mean it's it's specifically tied to war veterans. 00:26:27 Speaker 2: Still still they got the honor though, So. 00:26:30 Speaker 5: This is not like Repperena is just a human being. This is titled. 00:26:34 Speaker 4: So I understand where he's coming from, but I would disagree with him because. 00:26:41 Speaker 5: What do you want? I mean, like, it is what it is. 00:26:44 Speaker 4: I get it, But there's all He's going to be leadership that makes decisions. It's I would take the view of if you don't like that decision, and I understand why Oscar wouldn't like it. 00:26:58 Speaker 5: That doesn't mean, in my opinion, you stop loving the university. 00:27:01 Speaker 2: Right. 00:27:02 Speaker 5: You know, every single. 00:27:03 Speaker 4: Day Donald Trump makes a decision that makes me cringe, but I still love America. To me, America is not Donald Trump. To me, UK Athletics is not Mitch Barnhardt, Eli Cappeludo, Mart Poe, whoever like they're not. It's it's us, right, It's the it's the fan. 00:27:23 Speaker 5: Base as a whole. 00:27:24 Speaker 4: It's it's that it's much bigger than whoever's in charge at that moment, right right. So I hope Oscar would reconsider that if that work case. If he doesn't, he he has earned the right to think whatever he wants. But I a decision made by leadership in the moment, I would hope wouldn't change your overall love is the institution as a whole. 00:27:47 Speaker 5: Does that make sense? 00:27:48 Speaker 2: Yes? It does. 00:27:48 Speaker 5: Do you agree with that, Shannon? 00:27:50 Speaker 10: Yeah? 00:27:50 Speaker 3: And if you look at though, most stadiums out there now have some sort of sponsorship name to him. 00:27:57 Speaker 2: Do you think though that it's like war memour. 00:28:01 Speaker 6: Should understand what he's saying. 00:28:03 Speaker 5: Yeah, like that that's different than kneel and stadium. 00:28:06 Speaker 3: And it's almost like disrespectful to those who have served our country and died for our country. I understand what what Oscar's saying. 00:28:13 Speaker 4: So they'll have to like, would you rather sell Rupperina name than Memorial Coliseum? See, I wouldn't care if they did. 00:28:22 Speaker 6: Could they still keep Memorial in the name? 00:28:25 Speaker 5: They would? I'm sure they would. 00:28:27 Speaker 2: Like the KS Arena at Historical Memorial. 00:28:33 Speaker 5: I wish as example, No, I mean, use, let's use another company X. 00:28:38 Speaker 2: Y Z center the Historical Memorial Cosseum. 00:28:42 Speaker 4: Yes, you could do that, You certainly could do that. But I bet they would pay less for that, do you know what I mean? Like Central Bank would have paid a lot more money if it was called Central Bank Rupperina, But they did this central Bank Center at Rupperina, And I bet they didn't have to pay as much for. 00:29:01 Speaker 3: That, maybe because nobody says it, because. 00:29:04 Speaker 5: Nobody says it, That's exactly right. 00:29:06 Speaker 6: Nobody says we still call it kroger Field. 00:29:08 Speaker 4: We do call it Krogerfield. Shannon's got the Megan's exact point. Think about how that's worked. There is a central Bank Center at Reparena. But does anyone ever mention Central Bank Center. No, but even I now have started calling it Kroger Field. Yes, and I held out for a long time, but even I now, I mean, we call it the Young Center, So I think Memorial Coliseum. It'll sell more if you can call it the iHeart Radio Memorial Coliseum. If you call it Memorial Colisseum at iHeart Radio Center, nobody's gonna say iHeart Radio. 00:29:39 Speaker 2: Right. 00:29:41 Speaker 5: So, but that's quite that's an it. I mean, that's a strong comment from us. 00:29:45 Speaker 2: But the world we live in now everything gets corporate naming rights. 00:29:48 Speaker 5: Debbie, go ahead, Debbie. 00:29:51 Speaker 11: That wasn't what I called about. But I think that may have to do with UK owning Memorial Colisseum and being able to sell those rips as opposed to rip not being known by UK. 00:30:00 Speaker 5: True, you're right, you are right about that. 00:30:02 Speaker 11: Yeah, Okay, I like some feedback on this from you guys. Our coach is a six tens basically center that played here at UK, but yet we can't seem to recruit a big guys, top level big guy inside. I think that has to do partly with coaching being more than just analytics and drawn at plays. We don't seem to have a very good player development program in place. Garrison went backwards last year. Moreno, he did get better, he did, but he was a seventh foot big that came in with skills and he basically developed because he got thrown into a situation where it was self defense. He got thrown out of. 00:30:50 Speaker 5: Toby. 00:30:50 Speaker 4: If you're going to criticize them for Garrison, you have to give him credit for Amari Williams and Moreno. You have to be fair, Like if you're going to criticize one, you can't just go, well, he got y with Moreno and Williams, but really Garrison is the is what like you gotta you gotta balance both of them, right, Yeah, But. 00:31:07 Speaker 11: He didn't play Williams as a as a sinner. Really, he played him as a card. 00:31:11 Speaker 4: He played him as a but he played him as a center in Pope's system, like that's how Pope uses sinners or wants to. 00:31:19 Speaker 11: Well, I just don't feel like he's developing. I mean, we're not getting any big, large recruits other than Moreno. And I appreciate Moreno and I appreciate him staying for sure, but we're not getting anybody really from the outside coming in because we're not seeing that development. I don't think that's just my opinion. 00:31:36 Speaker 4: Well, I appreciate it, Debbie, thank you. I mean I understand what you're saying. Appreciate it. Let's go to Scotty from Florida. Go ahead, Scotty. Does that mean yes? 00:31:46 Speaker 8: If you're Scotty, A quick question. Uh, Duke just signed a high schooler and they're able to give him money. 00:31:55 Speaker 5: It's a fake that's a fake story. That's a fake story. 00:31:58 Speaker 10: Fake story. 00:31:59 Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, you got you. 00:32:00 Speaker 7: Guys. 00:32:00 Speaker 5: Gotta listen. 00:32:02 Speaker 4: If Scottie Hughes or whatever those sites are there, just look for a logo of something, you know. Okay, if you see a random person's name and it says college basketball or whatever, that's you gotta look further. 00:32:22 Speaker 5: And I appreciate the call. 00:32:23 Speaker 4: Look for an entity, you know, now, do I The story was that Duke hauld signed a sixteen year old and was going to pay throughout high school. 00:32:31 Speaker 5: Do I think that's impossible to happen one day? 00:32:34 Speaker 2: No, it's not. 00:32:35 Speaker 4: No, I don't. I actually think that would be brilliant. But that was a fake account that said that. So until I see it from a real account, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna believe it. 00:32:47 Speaker 2: I was wonder, why why that hasn't already happened. 00:32:49 Speaker 5: I'm surprised it hasn't. You know what. I'd never considered it until I saw the fake account. 00:32:54 Speaker 2: Huh. 00:32:54 Speaker 5: And then I was like, well, you know what, that is a fake account. But that's kind of brilliant. 00:32:58 Speaker 2: Actually start paying, give these a sophomore edgent. But then, but your worry would be understanding exactly. 00:33:06 Speaker 5: Yeah, what would stopping from flip correct? That would be your worry. And I don't know that. I mean, I guess you could contractually try to keep that from happening, but I don't know. Hey, BBN, spring is sprung, and that means you might be getting outside more, whether that's doing yard work or just staying active by biking and running. Increase physical activity when the weather gets warmer can lead to aches, pains, and injuries. Court Physical Therapy they know exactly how to keep you from having pain. Seventy locations statewide. 00:33:32 Speaker 4: It's easy to find a center to you go to court dot com that's KRT dot com to experience the best in rehab. I kind of think on this memorial Colisseum thing, the debate in our fan base is going to be Age Center. It will be I think the people who remember Memorial Colisseum for what it was, yes, and not just the place the volleyball team and the women's team play, are going to be much more against it than those that don't. 00:34:00 Speaker 2: Like I said, they consider how old grounds, yeah, coliseum. 00:34:03 Speaker 5: Whereas other people are gonna be like, who what do I care? 00:34:06 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:34:07 Speaker 4: Right, So it'll be interesting to see. We'll take a break, very backs, Kiosar, welcome back. We'll talk more about the Memorial thing to mark, because I think you're going to see a lot of debate about it today. Yeah, I'm I don't have strong feelings about it, but I know there will be people that do. 00:34:23 Speaker 5: Clearly Oscar does. I don't. 00:34:25 Speaker 4: What I do have strong feelings about is I'm worried that the Red stink they got swept in Pittsburgh. 00:34:33 Speaker 6: I just it's a long season, I know. 00:34:36 Speaker 5: But I worry they stink. 00:34:39 Speaker 2: They're They're at Chicago that right now. 00:34:40 Speaker 4: The car which is their two games back. I mean, if they were to get swept in this one, like it might be over. 00:34:45 Speaker 6: Uh huh, yeah, you'd be five games by. 00:34:47 Speaker 2: Real fo times second week of May. Yeah, pack it up. 00:34:53 Speaker 4: I'm just saying, we haven't Pittsburgh for whenever they stink, but we always have a hard time with them. But bigger picture, you know, we won all those games by one run. That can't go on forever. 00:35:05 Speaker 2: That can't score any runs. 00:35:06 Speaker 10: Man. 00:35:07 Speaker 5: Yeah, well they also they're pitching. They gave up like fifty runs this week. 00:35:11 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:35:11 Speaker 4: So so I'm a little worried and tonight I think we're pitching like Terry Francona. 00:35:17 Speaker 2: I don't think he's I don't think he's a pitcher. 00:35:19 Speaker 4: Yeah, but uh so, yeah, I'm a little concerned about that, just saying but but not all right, So let's let's vote on this scramble thing. Okay, all right, So this guy Grant, let me give it. Here's the here's here's what it is. Grant called him and we had the contest for the Kentucky Horse. Right, first prize got the choice between theovonn and the scramble, and second prize was gonna get the tickets. Well, I consider the scramble a massive prize. It's worth a lot of money. And then the guy that won picked Theovon tickets. So my thought was this first place winner is gonna get the scramble and then the second place person's gonna take the Theovon ticket, right, well, then the guy that won one of the Theovon tickets. Okay, So now I don't want to scramble to be a second place prize and the remember Grant's horse was what haughty or trotty thoughty or hatti trotty, and I just kind of thought, I don't know if that's good enough. Hatti trotty, second place. 00:36:23 Speaker 6: Illot three were so bad. 00:36:26 Speaker 4: The other three weren't even good. So I was like, you know what, it's not good enough. We're gonna wait and give it away next week. Well, Grant was very upset about that, tweeted at me all weekend. You got other people to tweet at me. Somebody came up to me at the Oaks asking about it. 00:36:44 Speaker 5: I'm serious. 00:36:45 Speaker 4: So so my thought was, I want to do another thing today or tomorrow. I guess it'll be tomorrow where somebody can win it who really appreciates the prize, because you don't want to be second place. But I also understand I did say that second place would get one. So the question is you people in the public, would you rather have a chance for someone who will feel it in their heart to win it, or does Grant dessert it? So you just send to the text machine, Grant someone else. That's all you gotta say. Grant someone else, and who ever gets the most votes. If it's Grant, I'll give it to him. If not, we'll have another contest for it later in the week. I think, how would your vote be. You can have the first vote. 00:37:31 Speaker 2: Okay, I I could be talked into giving him the scramma because he did finish in second place. We did say, their first place prize and a second place prize, But the fact that he harassed you all weekend and it's calling into the show today makes me anti Grant. 00:37:43 Speaker 4: Well, but now someone would argue if he hadn't, we might just have moved on right here. 00:37:48 Speaker 5: He does want it, clearly, and that's why he's. 00:37:50 Speaker 6: Going for that, why he's bothering you, he warns. 00:37:54 Speaker 2: My solution we let Grant be one of the participants in the next contest. 00:37:59 Speaker 6: So Grant already won it. Now you're making him win it again. He didn't really win, he did, we said before we started the coming. 00:38:05 Speaker 5: When he came in second, we said. 00:38:08 Speaker 3: Whoever second place gets what was left over. We said that on the AH. 00:38:12 Speaker 2: I didn't think they were gonna pick THEO. 00:38:14 Speaker 6: But that's the other guy's fault, that's not Grant's fault. 00:38:17 Speaker 4: Yeah, So you would say give it to him, and you would say, don't give it to it, correct, Mario, give it to him. Don't give it to it, give it to him, right, So it's two one forgive it to him. 00:38:28 Speaker 5: We'll see what the public say. 00:38:29 Speaker 2: I'm going with the public here, okay. 00:38:31 Speaker 5: Because I hate setting the precedent that if you harass me it works. 00:38:36 Speaker 6: Yes, right, that he should have want him on the spot and he wouldn't have to harass you. 00:38:41 Speaker 4: And that's the only reason he's getting a change. Yeah, Lineman Wilson, go ahead. 00:38:48 Speaker 8: Yeah, we need to stop drinking this kool aid. 00:38:50 Speaker 10: Man. 00:38:50 Speaker 7: Mark Pope sucks. 00:38:53 Speaker 8: He's a different guy from day one. Uh, no recruits. I mean, come on the on the wall. 00:39:00 Speaker 10: Here, guys. 00:39:02 Speaker 4: Well, I disagree with you on the first part, but the no recruits. I appreciate the call. I've been My worry about Mark Pope was very simple. When he got had I had one worry. I didn't worry about his coaching. I didn't worry about his intellect. I didn't worry about his pr although this year it's oddly been terrible, when it was pretty good in year one. I worried about his recruiting, and three years later, I'm still worried. I mean, I went, I went over the other day. Every every freshman we gets from Kentucky, every single one of them. 00:39:34 Speaker 2: And look at the two freshmens got coming in next year, the son of a coach and a little brother of a player. 00:39:39 Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean son of the coach, the little brother player and every player. Listen, folks, every recruit he's gotten from Kentucky or on the border, every single one. 00:39:49 Speaker 2: It really kind of blows my mind. 00:39:52 Speaker 4: You can say Colin Chandler, But Colin Chandler was already with him at by. 00:39:56 Speaker 6: U right Ouzman. 00:39:59 Speaker 5: Who mine. 00:40:00 Speaker 6: Yeah, but he's not. 00:40:02 Speaker 5: He's he's more of a portal guy. He's not really a recruit. He's twenty two years old. 00:40:07 Speaker 6: I'm just saying he wasn't from Kentucky. 00:40:10 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:40:11 Speaker 5: Senegal is not in. 00:40:18 Speaker 4: Let's go to James, Go ahead, James, James, go ahead, all right, No, James, Let's go to Joe. 00:40:29 Speaker 5: Go Joe. 00:40:31 Speaker 12: Hey Man been following the Kentucky since then. This so I had no trouble with the tagging the name of Cole's or Wendy's Memorial Coliseum. I think it's a product of its time. No problem with that. When it comes to coach Paul, the riding's on the wall, mismanagement, mismanager of the team this year, mismanager of the funds, mismanager of everything. He just he doesn't grow on people. You know, in every industry, I'm smaller and smaller as you progress in it, are stay in it and every in the writing on the wall that nobody really wants to play for Pope the best player, So you know the rumors about that, it's spreading. Everything's working against Pope, against uk So the new ad July first, it's sucking down the job. He needs a fire mark coach. He needs to get Jay Lucas take his team from Miami. Most of them would come with him. It'd be a lot better team. 00:41:28 Speaker 5: Well let's cut you off here. I appreciate, I appreciate the call. 00:41:30 Speaker 4: I don't that's not going to happen, but I I you know, I disagree with you, But I do you know that you're not the only person that that said that, but I disagree with you there.
