[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Forty Kaylorcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: We jump our Saudi and Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_01]: This guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: On today's episode, we'll be diving back into the Necrons for a full discussion of their lore.
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you hear me Lewis back in time?
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you edit that in there?
[SPEAKER_01]: What?
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you hear me Lewis back in time?
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to go back in time.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, we're not going to do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're not going to do anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: It makes the sanity fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're going to be like that and hurt my feelings, we can guess talk to the Necrons.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it wasn't good music.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just the news is going to haunt you.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: So a one hit wonder is going to get a good complaining.
[SPEAKER_00]: So many hits name four.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is this love?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is there only you going to go back in time?
[SPEAKER_00]: I know so many more, but I can't think of what's up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I had to just call me out.
[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you like you named for, I'm gonna be all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just win.
[SPEAKER_01]: As always, please like and subscribe to the podcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you enjoy it, leave us a positive review.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't enjoy it, come on to our Discord or our Facebook and let me know what I did wrong, and we will fix it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, aside note, just for me, and for Brad too.
[SPEAKER_01]: We actually can see like all of the statistics on our listeners and I've noticed that a lot of you are listening to us on an Xbox and I'm barely a millennial and Brad's not and we both know you we didn't know you could even do this as part is John is semi obsessed with this thing I don't see didn't know even how you could
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm getting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is this an app, or are you actually plugging in your Xbox listening to us?
[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, if you're one of these people, just let me know how, because it makes it easier if you're in our discord, you'll realize I did this a lot with technology where people have to tell me how to run a network.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you like the fact that your first inclination was to ask me how it worked.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was hoping.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I went, I don't even know where I am right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So again, if you're one of the people listening to us on Xbox,
[SPEAKER_01]: Just let us know how.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all.
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they don't join a discord link is in the show notes.
[SPEAKER_01]: We also have a website called the Forty K lorecast.com and there's even a patreon if you want to support us on making the audio or whatever it is sound better.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you give us some money, we will buy new microphones and editing software, things that we talked about kind of a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then both of us go, we don't want to buy that thing unless we had money.
[SPEAKER_01]: Make it easier.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, part of the topic at the Necrons.
[SPEAKER_01]: So on episode ten, we covered them a little bit with the war in heaven, but the day we were going to have a much deeper dive, I end of them, right at the point where they take a very, very long walk-up.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just solid now.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just five millionaires, but yeah, rip-fed wrinkle.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will admit I stopped playing for a long period of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually rejoined it in eighth edition, mostly because of the toxicity level dropped enough that it made the game approachable.
[SPEAKER_00]: Seven of this was a trash fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Invisible wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: The don't be me starting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Be rollable to up invulnerable with the feel no pain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good call to them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And dumping wounds on trash that you have with you?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what an incredible addition.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, when I came back in, my first Army was Necrons.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason was Don of War.
[SPEAKER_01]: I loved that game so much.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Necrons and Don of War were really fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you would just cast a love build, build, build, build, and then go in somebody.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, monoliths here, real thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just endless warriors.
[SPEAKER_01]: As I wrote the notes for this, I began looking at the cost of building a Necron Army.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a stop selling stuff, everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did.
[SPEAKER_01]: I sold my background, because I sold them about five years ago.
[SPEAKER_01]: I sold my ultra marines too, and that one I don't regret, mostly because only a space marine collection is just too large.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's never, you can never have enough models.
[SPEAKER_00]: Your models will always come back into style in the rules.
[SPEAKER_00]: You will always regret not having your stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only downside is anyone who has neck run army knows a much of a refer to I had I think eighteen rates of the eighteen two of them still had both of their claws
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the original race were awful.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just those things just all broke off.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, into the topic at hand.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll start with for those who were newer this, this game, who are the Necrons?
[SPEAKER_01]: They're a race of sentientish robots.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're basically T-eight hundred terminators.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have basically that's exactly what they are.
[SPEAKER_00]: How about this?
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a noble, you have a cool sentient.
[SPEAKER_00]: T-way hundred slash liquid metal body depending on who you are.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're not a noble, you are in a nightmare world of half soul, sentience that you can't control all the time.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a nightmare.
[SPEAKER_01]: The necrons came in in nineteen ninety eight was their first reference.
[SPEAKER_01]: They got their code X do thousand two, which is still third edition.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a two thousand two.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's now twenty four and we're on tenth edition.
[SPEAKER_01]: Things have sped up.
[SPEAKER_01]: They joined it in third edition.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were the fourth Xenos race at it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you had Eldar or in Orcs and Tyrannids where I've seen before them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tyrannids enter the game even before that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Space Hulk, but that's a side note.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is a join the game in a wildly limited format.
[SPEAKER_01]: Initially and then expanded massively.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just warriors, mortals, and lords.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they were, they were part of the period in GW, actually really is probably one of the better parts of GW, maybe the best part where we had them, cow, jukari, blood angels, dark angels, I think dark angels were right in a second.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they all started coming in all at this time.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, you know, back when I was more just following the game, it was a lore standpoint.
[SPEAKER_01]: All these guys got added and it was a great addition to the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: Really, it was also the first time that we started seeing the grim dark element enter the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this was,
[SPEAKER_01]: That runs entered Forty K at a really good inflection point.
[SPEAKER_01]: They made the game a lot better.
[SPEAKER_01]: The narrative got a lot better at this stage.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was really big because they kept offering these new races.
[SPEAKER_00]: They kept offering what was going on and they changed the narrative.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just expanded on the narrative because the grim dark was
[SPEAKER_00]: everywhere is war.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is not hopeless, but basically they are still in period of century.
[SPEAKER_00]: And all of these things were happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is why there's only war.
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, in the grim darkness of the future, there is only war.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there is only war because there is so many factions, one, Necrons were arising at this point in time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they came into the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've always been here and they're trying to re-cocker the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: True.
[SPEAKER_01]: My point about the grim dark is more up to this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like eighties hair, metal game.
[SPEAKER_01]: They kind of existed up and opened to this part and they got.
[SPEAKER_01]: Third edition, it got good.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's where my point is the first.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, first.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's one key.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's going to say second edition stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like the rules were so wonky.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the.
[SPEAKER_00]: IP of the game drastically changed, but I think for the better.
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really was for the better.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is also what gave us games like Dawn of War, the game believed dates around six or seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a few years later, but at that point we started seeing the first like foys and the other pieces, mostly because of the Starcraft catastrophe that if you guys aren't aware of, you can figure that one out pretty quick.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oops.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: Back to the Necrons.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what they are is they are the most advanced race.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not even clinging.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's jokingly.
[SPEAKER_01]: What they have is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they are there.
[SPEAKER_00]: The non psychic race.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're besides the top.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are the.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the S. You might have not had one last episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're done with our money.
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't edit that in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I hate.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, just why a different thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say they lost on one and you go, let's do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a random, just like different, the sound, everything just me going, tau suck, where he's dumped up that in there fair enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to talk about this in the, the Netherlands because the Netherlands are so wildly ahead in technology and they're not a psychic race, but they're so technologically superior that
[SPEAKER_00]: One, they obviously can reconstruct.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, all of their guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the biggest thing is that they can interact with the warp and warp entities with technology not with psychics.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also have just weaponry that's psychotic like doomsday cannons, Tesla.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, cause itself goss is incredible.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it disintegrates you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's although it's just engine because goss technically is just using magnets to shoot something.
[SPEAKER_01]: But GW gets the right however they want to write.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying that God's in there is basically just rubbed you until you don't exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just going with what it really is.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're massively everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: So AdMec would lose their minds if they got ahold of Necrone technology.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have tried a number of times.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing is, is that Necrones have galaxy-wide teleportation.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: They can bring almost anything back as long as they have a piece of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: They can re-animate.
[SPEAKER_00]: pretty much anything in the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's good in the stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's why we're talking to you for that.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why we're doing more casts.
[SPEAKER_01]: The truth is if you play Forty K and you know the lore, you actually get annoyed at almost your entire army usually because it's like, why doesn't it do this, then you realize you
[SPEAKER_01]: hated, if everyone's armies, they were supposed to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: So things that rolled back, we had neck ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: All effectively never die.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to disintegrate them or just destroy them so much that there's no energy left and they can't re-animate, but other than that, they always, we're going to get into the, the dinosaurs and stuff like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the main reasons
[SPEAKER_00]: be like, hey, if they're so wildly better at technology, why are they not auto winning?
[SPEAKER_00]: They're pretty separate.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're in the kind of, well, they also lost a lot during their long.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's also, well, destroy across stuff like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: They also went, hey man, we've had sixty five million years and we're robots.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whoopsie, sometimes the code goes bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And being maintained by scarrows.
[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the big things that has always been centralized about the Necrons is
[SPEAKER_00]: Necrons effectively can never be destroyed because they teleport automatically back.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is at a nano technology level.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know nano is what you've used in sci-fi when you don't have an answer to something.
[SPEAKER_00]: But as long as there's a piece of a Necron, it is brought back to their factories, which effectively are their giant space-fearing buildings
[SPEAKER_00]: aka monoliths and things of nature that are just forge factories that just teleport these things back.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Johnny died in the field and you just bring Johnny back and you just kind of reprint Johnny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's quick to the teleport back to the, you know, usually the monolith or something at that level get rebuilt, then teleport back back to the battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Neckrons are really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Neckrons are coming up, but
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's dive into where that runs come from.
[SPEAKER_01]: Originally, and so for those of you who don't know, we write show notes for this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when you're writing show notes, typing out Necront here over and over and over again, really starts to annoy you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Microsoft Word had a lot of opinions about this about what I was trying to type here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the necrons are originally called the necronture.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were just a race of humanoids.
[SPEAKER_00]: They never explain exactly what they look like to be honest with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, one of the biggest things I love that you put the far side and guess, get mad about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they are on the far side of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which genre I'll bunch of shit about.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and says how the hell you on the far side?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but what is a far side of a galaxy?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's infinite space in three dimensions.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, of course, you're on the far side of the galaxy because it's just easier than one of the biggest thing is is that their home world.
[SPEAKER_00]: Even though they're expanding out everywhere, the base DNA of a Necron tier says you're going to die because their home world is irradiated.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we talk about irradiated, I mean, like to the DNA of your
[SPEAKER_00]: Even though they took over multiple planets, the base DNA of Necrouts is you will die from effectively radiation poisoning because there was some mutated.
[SPEAKER_01]: The world, the world that they started on was just under this sun that was not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they were like two feet away from the sun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it was giving off radiation.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're based, they're based DNA is corrupted.
[SPEAKER_01]: They lived.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they took over multiple
[SPEAKER_01]: Just as, well, that was a thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: If they're focused on this was, you know, we're going to, we can't be here anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they became what's the sad part, being all the stories in GW right in your tragic.
[SPEAKER_01]: The true tragedy of the Necrontere is that they were a very heavy science race that just only at their goal originally was just to survive.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's how you lead on science, though.
[SPEAKER_00]: They, they were a race.
[SPEAKER_00]: focused, a fanatically focused on how do I not die?
[SPEAKER_00]: It which is a real thing to focus on because you're effectively saying my family, my descendants, my everyone, everyone has a death sentence.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were four, four decay, a short lived
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Race.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because of again, DNA, my base core of my being says, you're going to die.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can move to a different planet, but everything about how your makeup is says you're going to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that second part's the big part there is that they did.
[SPEAKER_01]: They successfully left their home planet being colonizing space, but this core poison inside of their DNA, it stayed with them and they kept dying.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they didn't know how to fix it, even with their superior technological basis.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what I like to keep a piece of the Necront here is how they are structured.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was they're effectively made up by different families that they would call Dynasties.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is super loose in the families because they became huge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the families were.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Dynasties were system-reaching, like gigantic, powerful.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The way that they would organize, though, I actually thought this was kind of cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: When they were organizing, it was called a triarch.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the triarch was three people would govern the entire, you know, clever guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what I liked about it was that, you know, there's more than three families.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, every time someone died, a triarch, one of them was a triarch, that he would be replaced by someone from a different family.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, as they always short lived, every family, every dynasty got representation within the triarch.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, they called these people fair ons because they were the kings.
[SPEAKER_01]: At this stage, I'm going to go ahead and, I like movie Stargate.
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a really cool movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Stargate SG-One, I thought was a good TV show till I was older and rewashed it and realized I was wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to make people angry and turn down.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fun watch, but, oh, anyway, this
[SPEAKER_01]: The net crowns are a hundred percent based on Egypt.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, thousand percent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything about their, the monoliths, the, the, the way that they look, the way that they're named.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they've done that with multiples.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they did it all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, this is, this is their one where they're going, okay, these guys are going to be originally space walls for Vikings.
[SPEAKER_01]: They did change in some repconning, but originally they were, they were Vikings.
[SPEAKER_01]: This one, their, their Egyptians,
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, those of you like me who like the show-age and aliens.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, there is no reference to GDOT in GW that Necrons built in the pyramid.
[SPEAKER_01]: They totally did.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't know the show-age and aliens, give it a watch.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is a fantastic show with the partners and jumps in logic that will blow your mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: The head of the triaco is a very important figure, the silent king.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the triaco is made of three people, only two of them speak.
[SPEAKER_01]: to the subjects that the silent king is the actual head.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the, the silent king does make the sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: He makes a decision, but everything, everything comes through the two triaks that said, that's the next.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're biarchs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the thinking of it is, is nice though, because he, he's supposed to, the whole point of it is he's supposed to not be swayed.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're by.
[SPEAKER_00]: the public and he's supposed to be this untaintable leader that you can't purchase.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't buy.
[SPEAKER_00]: He can't be positioned out.
[SPEAKER_00]: He can't be lobbied.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually it's extremely cool set up that they had and I'm not from a
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the FGM locker.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is actually, this is pretty interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the design king though at the same time though, was effectively the monarch.
[SPEAKER_01]: So even though the king couldn't be, couldn't be lobbied or these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there were two other rulers with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: The silent king made the final decision.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because he could line on and do anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he was also the key ruler.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a weird little stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully everybody knows that means but continue on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, sorry for everybody that's listening not in America because that only makes sense in America about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: a lot of our listeners who are actually not America.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sorry, guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: It means the one person can stop everything from going for the vast majority of your England or it's America's number one, then England and Australia.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, my dad also are things that work in so well, so whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Eventually, as Necrontiere expanding into the galaxy, they're not expanding in a benevolent fashion.
[SPEAKER_01]: The downs are the Necrontiere's, they're trying to survive.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're also bad guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're really bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have no cares.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're effectively
[SPEAKER_01]: the mob.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, although they're genociding.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anybody in every race because they view.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't negotiate with anyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the zero time.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Necront here, just would show up, but I plan it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The repeat things living there.
[SPEAKER_01]: They go, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll just kill all of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is, is they didn't negotiate at all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking one time.
[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't speak.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just killed everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And just went, hey, nice planet, punk, go get your own.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they viewed everyone's beneath them.
[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't change.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, they get older.
[SPEAKER_01]: That being said, they weren't alone in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: There was another race that had been there a little bit before them, actually a lot more than before them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, called the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the old ones had been doing the opposite.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've been spreading throughout the galaxy uplifting races and finding things and making races.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and making races.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they saw the necrons and were just like, well, these guys are monsters.
[SPEAKER_00]: you know let's let's give them the thing this has been reckoned multiple times but the original thing was why did the war in heaven take place and i'm gonna give the necrons there do because even though they were crazily violent yeah the reason they go after the old ones is because they go to the old ones who had mastery of all things
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess physical, you could say they weren't tacked, but they could cure, they could manipulate anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: They could, they could have actually changed the Necrontera's DNA because they were masters of psychic powers.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were also a master.
[SPEAKER_00]: Creators, manipulators of literally DNA code.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now there's my, my first one.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, but they were, and they had two, three who cares.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they're, and they went to the old ones and went, you are.
[SPEAKER_00]: the actual masters of life basically biology you can change anything we cannot fix the fact that we are a dying race no matter what we've done technology wise our code is we are short live race and the old ones even though they were looked at as benevolent
[SPEAKER_00]: Effectively said you guys are crazy people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't have fixed that's what I was going to say they weren't we look at it never I the old ones were correct the old ones realized pretty quickly that if they given these powers To the Necrons the Necrons were not going to suddenly become poets.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were they were just they were going to be immortal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
[SPEAKER_01]: The tyrannical rule.
[SPEAKER_01]: As opposed to short-lived.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, tyrannically.
[SPEAKER_01]: The whole Necronson in check was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think whole Necron tier in check was their short life spans.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the old ones said no.
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens though is the Necron tier didn't quite realize what the old ones were at this stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the challenges obviously the Necron tier have with the short life spans is it's as they've expanded out.
[SPEAKER_01]: The private clue into earlier these dynasties are massive and they begin a little bit of infighting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's purpose.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same reason why we've had massive empires in humanity fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alexander the Drake dies and immediately everything's gone.
[SPEAKER_00]: King is kind, not as much, but still separated.
[SPEAKER_00]: You have these giant leaders that fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we have galaxy spanning, you know, hundreds, thousands of systems.
[SPEAKER_00]: of Necront here, but the problem is, is because they're short lived, we're doing this, and then Ted, the great dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's no longer the, the perfect, the not great take.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, it starts to struggle a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: When it's, it's becomes a big issue because the Necront here are being to fight internally.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while internally, it's all part, the silent king, at this point,
[SPEAKER_01]: Realizes that the best thing for them is to go after the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it gives him two things.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, ever?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can unify all of my people behind killing the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: And two, when we are successful, wasn't if.
[SPEAKER_01]: When we are successful, we will have the biggest immortality.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we can actually come.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, argument for this was, then our greatest leaders will be our greatest leaders forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Two things that he did not know.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, the old ones had web ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: Two, they had the warp, which they didn't know existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're about to fight an enemy who can move on in a, on the galaxy in a way that they didn't conceive of and can use a weapon that never, that they don't even, but she also, they can't conceive of.
[SPEAKER_01]: Necrons went, Necrons are in the Necron tier when hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: They attack the old ones hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, you say hard, but that is such a nothing compared to what happens in the future, but go ahead.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they went out from hard and almost instantly get their asses kicked.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was not just as kicked as mad that you compared them to the beginning of this war.
[SPEAKER_00]: The old ones beat them, a hundred and fifty to nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: in any game you want to choose.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's rude.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've, they've
[SPEAKER_00]: fifteen systems over, and just attack maybe your homeworld, and you didn't even know that existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Necron, they only give dates on this, but effective in the Necron tier in attacking old ones lost millennia of conquest.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the old ones, kind of that little insult to injury, pushed them all the way back to their original system with the, with the irradiated star and just shoved them there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then just bailed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is not the best move.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a bad decision because the Necrontere showed up with a level of hatred and determination that no one has ever seen before.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Necrontere did not like this loss.
[SPEAKER_01]: So from there, move into what happens next.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, this has been, we're, we're not seeing.
[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest thing with the Katan is this, they make it sound occasionally like this is like something that happened two seconds.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Necrature find out the Katan exists, the Katan star gods.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, okay, so let's go to the, there's about three different ways it happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I have to give it to GW credit here because a lot of the GW rep con something that is rep con it and call it a day.
[SPEAKER_01]: What GW has done is they've now said none of this was ret con.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all occurred before written history.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So therefore, all we have are stories from the elder are who are then hold it by the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why we get different stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So all of them are true and none of them are true exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually I kind of like that to be honest with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is a good one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I crap on GW writing a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is this is good writing a clever move.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they took them a long time to even know they existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because well, of course, because they existed for all of time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing is is that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's that C Tanner content.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, go.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll probably miss out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll skip.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so if you guys don't know which one it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, do whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the biggest thing about that is when they solve them, they find that they existed.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a huge amount of time that goes through when they try to communicate with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: It took them.
[SPEAKER_00]: They take the necrons here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just forever forever.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what they have.
[SPEAKER_00]: These beings acknowledge their existence.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's start with what a see-tann is.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they are maybe the first being in existence in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are just beings of pure energy that eat stars.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They feed off energy.
[SPEAKER_01]: That the Necront here discovered one and immediately thought
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a being of pure and power, but let's make it be our friend.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they take eight, uh, we're talking thousands of years.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's not, this isn't like, hey, man, we've, we found a Kitan and Billy found a way to talk to him.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, generations upon generations of Necrontere,
[SPEAKER_00]: try to figure out how, and the thing was, it wasn't even originally just communicate with, it was make them know that we're even here, then we'll work on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The first story is kind of the original Codex type story, which is the Necrontier noticed an anomaly in their star.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they fire much of probes into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they discovered there was something in the star eating their star.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: The next one is from actually the Elder, which is the incredible amount of hate that the Necrontier had toward the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: got the attention of a C-Tang because they can feel the energy of hate going there.
[SPEAKER_01]: First, C-Tang to make contact as a C-Tang named.
[SPEAKER_01]: Methetron, guys, it's gonna be a rough episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, Methetron.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: What is it translate to the deceiver?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, probably shouldn't make a deal with a guy whose name is the deceiver.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now he gets to be the deceiver after this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was always the deceiver.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just didn't realize what Methetron meant.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you met someone, his name was Eric.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you went nice to meet you, Eric.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he doesn't realize Eric's thing is, is, you know, dog eater.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you have a bunch of dogs in your house.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not a great combo.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the first prep challenge the Necrons have with the, with the C-tans is we've made contact, they've made contact.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I actually need to have a way to actually interact with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the container originally don't have any bodies.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, there's energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they needed a way, we want you to wreck our enemies and we also need to communicate and talk to you.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we made necrogernous.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you effectively put energy inside it and this was such a
[SPEAKER_00]: It was effectively on a titanium if they just absorbed any amount of energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like anything you put into it, it reverberated it back.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they were able to exist in this as pure energy, living metal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it says, this is what a term living metal comes from.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now I didn't give this the Katan a form, but it also alerted them to a new form of energy to feast on.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't know if souls existed yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't know that they're interacting with living beings and souls exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I have to ask the question like, I was writing a bunch of notes like later on we're getting into this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So whatever, I can
[SPEAKER_01]: spoil it now.
[SPEAKER_01]: They want to eat the souls living.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think, is it just slenish that does that?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think any other chaos god consumes souls, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Corners, it's just, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Corners, it's, I mean, it's less only eats the souls of the elder.
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, contain, there we go, the potential early chaos god.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_00]: in the deceiver, holy crap, wildly, who deceives now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's have a let's pronounce it, Mephet Ron.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm zero chance.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just throwing it out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, Mephet run new the history of the neck on tear pretty well and decide to manipulate them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they, when they meet with him, he tells them about how well they actually also, the, the, the C ten also fought the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they let terrible to us too.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're mean to us and they defeated us and all we want to do is live in a harmony in the galaxy and maybe if you could just help us out, we could together stop the great blight on the galaxy that is
[SPEAKER_01]: The old ones, and I believe the, no, I, right here was a strong Emperor Palpatine vibes coming out right here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, like, I mean, they did get the worst of the deal with the deceiver.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it doesn't go great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, this is the fact that with the death of the Nikon tier, the most important one, though, is out of all this methadron tells the Nikon tier that he does no away.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's, it's a double.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's a website.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's too full.
[SPEAKER_00]: He says one you will be immortal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: Two.
[SPEAKER_00]: We will win against the old.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they are legend pissed at the old ones.
[SPEAKER_00]: At the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: The deceit that they said.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll throw this out for all you obscure readers.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are telonamas.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, upset.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going with Ericsson.
[SPEAKER_01]: Steven Ericsson on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: That'd be said when the deceiver promise you something to the fine print.
[SPEAKER_01]: There is about two billion pages of fine print.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the receiver did have every intention to make it to the neckrun tier would never die.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a hundred.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit of a catch.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a catch.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, just because of the fact that also.
[SPEAKER_00]: His deal is so shitty.
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't just want to eat the souls.
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to nibble basically on the souls and leave a little bit left over.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, maybe you can live an eternity of hellish nightmare of being semi-sentient in a piece of robot that you
[SPEAKER_00]: Can't control, but you can't control some of the time, and not all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: is just a flavor thing that may because they were like, this is barbecue.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all they're going with.
[SPEAKER_01]: They never explain it at all, but it's very clear that somehow all of the citizens decide, we should, we should eat these.
[SPEAKER_00]: What I got from this though is that the receiver just went, we should just be digs and we're kind of already.
[SPEAKER_00]: I felt that the guitar were just terrible in the first place, and they just did this to be more terrible.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have no sympathy by the way for what's going to happen to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, none of us do.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, none of us have, well, it's known in this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've sympathy for them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all horrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the Satan explained to the Necront here that they can help them.
[SPEAKER_01]: by the same way that the necrane to your help, the satan, because the satan were transferring to these necridermesis, and they say, well, we can't actually help all of you do the same thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could transfer your souls and your bodies into these necridermesis, and you would be just like us.
[SPEAKER_00]: But this is a shitty legend deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is why the silent king is always going to be kind of a big deck.
[SPEAKER_01]: The silent king actually debates on this for a while, within his court, because the problem is affected by his two, he's being offered the
[SPEAKER_01]: his two greatest dreams, immortality and disaster of the old ones, but he's having to convert his entire species into meccanoids.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's always semi-known that there is a bad taste.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's something wrong with this deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he knows it.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is in multiple stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a hundred percent, but he knows for sure that things up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: maybe not me, but multiple, my people will pay how about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, someone's going to pay.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's actually one dissenter, and I don't know why I put this in here, but it's because I had Necron Army, it was Oricon, the diviner, who had a really cool model for a while, and then.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also got amazing stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then got legended.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Oricon, the diviner, is the, he cut sees the future for the Necrons and says, if you do this,
[SPEAKER_00]: which is why also he's so cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have psychic powers.
[SPEAKER_00]: He divides the future by looking at science.
[SPEAKER_00]: He predicts the future by going, I've run two billion models of the future.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is what's gonna happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that the silent king just can't resist this offer.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's grossly too great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because remember, they are dying right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're back on their home planet and it is the species is dying.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they just, they also took again a huge loss.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: They wanted this thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't get this thing and they also had their empire, not just beat back, shattered, just shattered.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this begins, I mean, this call is a great transference where they built factories on all of the planets where they constructed new bodies for necrontere and these bodies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is their new model, which is the model we know of in the mess.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the necrotere is lined up outside to walk into the factory.
[SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly, though, above each factory, there were C-tans who were flying above, that's where they described it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were flying above the factory.
[SPEAKER_00]: enabling the bio-transfer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's what they were doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were helping out because it's really important to us to help out.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're taking a bite out of each cookie that went in the box.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: What was actually happening in these transferences is the souls were being taken out of the neck.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the worst part.
[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the whole soul.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it took the whole soul out and then the C-Tang got a piece of it and the body got another piece of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you have
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, they took a play.
[SPEAKER_00]: It would be better if they just ate the whole song.
[SPEAKER_00]: They did.
[SPEAKER_00]: They left these people with a fraction.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're not even half the man.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're
[SPEAKER_01]: depending on what you were, you were different portion of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so at this transference, the silent king even goes to his one.
[SPEAKER_01]: And once he comes out the other side, he realizes what has just happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do want to dive in his little bit though, because this is something I played Necrons for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about them in depth with friends at Nazium.
[SPEAKER_01]: This bit is a little bit complicated because depending on how you read the story, they were solosatonomotons or they were solatonotons and it's this weird thing we're effectively
[SPEAKER_01]: the lower classes, which would be your Necron warriors, were soulless Tomatons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty much, but your overlords, your cryptax, your emorals, well, they could say it's still on a win.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the contans have this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's set up in a weird way where in the book, these refer to it as a stronger members, we're able to maintain a portion of their soul, but a lot of the commerce were just
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's the thing is I don't even think it was just strong.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was the people in charge because they still needed someone to lead their army's to victory.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, this is a big deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: The silent king knows right away.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the silent king immediately starts plotting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, from moment on, we were all from that moment zero.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're I'm getting my revenge.
[SPEAKER_01]: That being said, though, it's not all that.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not wrong, by the way, of course.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are immortal.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are immortal.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are in, because also they're not just immortal.
[SPEAKER_01]: The mortal is one thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thing to be like, because we think my human being brought perpetual, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing is killing a neck run is hard, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're immortal.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're in bodies that can resist most weaponry.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they also can reanimate.
[SPEAKER_00]: pretty much almost anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're stronger than they've ever been.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Necron's went from a broken dying race to now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is a big deal because this is a probably the biggest mistake that can tan made, which was
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we took a bite out of all your people.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're probably going to be mad about it, but here's control over all your people.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whoopsie.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this might come back to haunt you.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Kitan did not have control.
[SPEAKER_01]: Only the silent king had control over the entire populace of the Necrontier.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, that's mildly important, because in that country, you're just went from a dying race to now the greatest warrior race in the galaxy and I can't reach any uncilible.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm saying that because the quirk haven't been invented yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Your story.
[SPEAKER_01]: But at this stage, they stop being the necrontier and they've become the necrontier.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the foreshadow on this one is one, Sally King has knowledge of what he just got screwed over.
[SPEAKER_00]: Two, he has full function on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: One other thing is we should point out that a lot of the lords of the necrons, now the necrons are pretty okay with this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, for the most part, the populations, okay, because there's something going, yeah, I lost my soul population.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the, it's the, the people in charge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, it's everybody because, well, this is incredible power.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they just got their asses kicked.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now they are, they're effectively invincible and they're partnered with the most powerful species in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the C-Tan in this whole thing get powered up to a like, oh, like, Goku love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dragon Mosee kind of thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just eat trillions more probably of souls and they are brimming with energy with that they just want to crush everything with and they've never had that much power and they are now ready to
[SPEAKER_00]: make war on the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they come out the gate and start wrecking shop.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old ones just don't have a prayer into this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we did cover this.
[SPEAKER_01]: We got this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was like, nineteen episodes ago, but just effectively quick hitters are old ones start losing.
[SPEAKER_01]: They convert the old are from poets to war.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was saying convert the poets to warriors.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: create the crook, create the jokero, don't worry, we're doing a cast on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that actually starts to stabilize the war.
[SPEAKER_01]: At this stage, that all those combos, the wars becoming a bit more of a back and forth, the old ones are no longer the ones themselves are getting killed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's what happens next because the problem is the necrons realize that they can't beat the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: unless they can shut down the old ones, powers, which is the warp and the web way.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the first thing they do is they actually break into the web way.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's going to go to Dolming Gate?
[SPEAKER_01]: Dolming Gate's important.
[SPEAKER_01]: Probably more of our second cast as one, but Dolming Gate still exists in Forty K. Dolming Gate are the only way to access the web way if you're not a psycher.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is also how they realize that the warp basically existed besides the powers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: This only gets let them break in.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was thanks to a certain CTAN who's named, I wrote down, and I'm not gonna say.
[SPEAKER_01]: Naya does.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just go with Zatha.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Zatha.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Zatha?
[SPEAKER_01]: This, now they can pass the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the only difference that the old ones have, to the backgrounds breaking the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the way the dominant gates work, it gets an access to the chunk of the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old ones had to then destroy that section of web ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they couldn't, they wouldn't have to fight the backgrounds in the web way, but they were losing chunks of the web way to the neck runs as they invaded.
[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to point out the fact that I've agreed with John several times in this cast, and I nod to him, which no one can see because we don't video this.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're an auto only cast.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to show how dumb occasionally I am.
[SPEAKER_00]: than I'm using hand motions and head gestures on an audio only cast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this thing's happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: This thing's happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: The next piece though the Necrons have to deal with is
[SPEAKER_01]: the warp because the warp is not only used by the old ones, it's also used by the Eldar now.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's bonkers.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just awesome though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Necrons straight up science magic out.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, you know what, I'm pretty annoyed at you guys using these psychic powers on us and doing all these magic related things.
[SPEAKER_00]: How about I just create something with technology, but just negates that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Period.
[SPEAKER_01]: And a wild area, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: These pylons, these necromas are massively important.
[SPEAKER_01]: They realize this, because the C-Ten... It's a Caucasian.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's actually the C-Ten and primarily one's driving this, but the necromas are behind it as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Realize they need to rid the galaxy of the immatarian.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if we can keep the immatarian from the material, it would help them win the war.
[SPEAKER_01]: The irony being, what a great idea.
[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, really, really good idea.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it wasn't time.
[SPEAKER_01]: The warp wasn't broken yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I mean, for them, it was a great idea.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's later on, it's a great idea, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'd be constructing these pylons all around the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wherever the pylons are, you just can't break out of the warp into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Katie obviously being one that we've discussed has a big piece of this, but it would render a psychic power's mute.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they were super not ready for this.
[SPEAKER_00]: The old ones are
[SPEAKER_00]: Physically, by all, again, stories that they've had, physically, people.
[SPEAKER_00]: They everything that they do is per psychics.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have a race that does every, I mean, everything, including movement, basically, by psychics, and then you just go, nope, you just have guys that are pretty easy to kill, because if I'm laying on a cushion and I can't move,
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, this is coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead and pop them off.
[SPEAKER_01]: This then also to recap because this is an important way that they win the war.
[SPEAKER_01]: The web way is now faltering.
[SPEAKER_01]: They can't use the web way to get around as much as they want to.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then places where they are engaged in battle, the necrons and the C-ten put up these pylons that start shutting down the psychic powers.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the old ones start falling back.
[SPEAKER_01]: This all, though, comes to a gruesome end with the enslaved or plague, which we covered before, but, again, if you listen to us, episode, there is a species that appears by the first recorded negative species from the warp.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably worse than before this, but the first ones are recorded are enslaved, which are
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the old ones are fighting, not even losing battle because they're still, they were dominating.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The inslavers kind of show up just behind.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And start nothing out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good inslavers are being from the warp that feeds on psychers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the more powerful the psycher, the more they want to feed on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: What they do is, those of you play D&D or just
[SPEAKER_01]: Baltis Gate three, it's kind of a theme in Baltis Gate three, the mindthrails.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're just my friends.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the mind fliers are mildly important in the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that's my power.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the mind fliers, hey, come on, they didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're, they're thousands of signed mind fliers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are you accusing G to help you have an IP violation?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying that they went to next, you're going to tell me that Dune is not a completely different thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying that they went to the monster manual and went mind fliers.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, scratch out mind flayer and put it slamer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they made them look kind of like beholders.
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
[SPEAKER_00]: With a mind-flair head.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they have everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah, they're like a point.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, just mind-flair.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a mind-flair.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a floating mind-flair.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, the mind-flair is coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, the enslavers come in.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're my, again, mind-flair.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're continuing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And begin wrecking the old ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bad, bad, bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just ripping the trids.
[SPEAKER_01]: So bad that this stage, the old ones just disappear.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't say they die.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't die.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is beyond.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the elders are dealing with enslavers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are we going to have to a cast on the sloth?
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the L-D-R and the cork, is they give zero shits about these.
[SPEAKER_01]: The cork just hit the cork, punch the enslaved.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the cork just beat up like headlocked the sliders.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But during this time, in this whole thing lasts a long time, yeah, these are these are millennia.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like we're going through here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's talk about what happened after.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the Necrase effectively realized
[SPEAKER_00]: that they're winning.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Sila King, not super excited about everything that happened.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this dude can hold a grudge.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can, and he also is smart of the realized that the Katancy Tan are wildly powerful, but they're also wildly dangerous.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once this war concludes, what are they gonna do next?
[SPEAKER_00]: So he decides
[SPEAKER_00]: best way to deal with them is stab them right in the back while they're fighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily for him, as the war is coming to an end, the amount of death that is occurring is obviously diminishing because everyone's kind of already dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the C-TAN are running out of souls to feed on, which leads the C-TAN into fighting amongst themselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's some interesting stories here of actually the laughing god being part of some of these battles, like convincing two C-TAN's of fight each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: The C-Tans begin killing each other and eating each other because they're so desperate for energy, which reduces the number of C-Tans.
[SPEAKER_01]: There is zero record of how many we started.
[SPEAKER_00]: Was there five?
[SPEAKER_00]: Was there five?
[SPEAKER_00]: Was there five?
[SPEAKER_00]: Was there five?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we no one knows, but effectively at this stage, the C tenor downed only a few like key and major C ten left.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the war is at this stage.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not over.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to that in a minute, but it's it's well won.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old ones have now disappeared.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's well won ish.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there's two races that are gigantic.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're not gigantic, but they are.
[SPEAKER_00]: becoming gigantic, which is elder, and what will be the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: The elder and crook can show care over there somewhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then this fight goes, and this is a big deal because a lot of these wars aren't coarse heresy took a little while.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking this took again.
[SPEAKER_00]: thousands of years.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this next part doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: This next part is fairly quick.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm saying that the entire Warren.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Warren heaviness is could be a million years for all we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: We actually don't know how long.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we have the thing and when they start attacking, they continue.
[SPEAKER_00]: She just go down.
[SPEAKER_00]: So all of this happens, the Catan aren't going out like that though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Necrons have a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they decide that they're going to go and build some super cannons.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to, it's actually, this is pretty clever.
[SPEAKER_01]: They realize that the Catan can't be killed effectively.
[SPEAKER_01]: They can be consumed.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Necrons can't eat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Separated.
[SPEAKER_01]: That began the solution is that the way to kill a catan is to literally consume its energy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unless you have the ability to do that, you can't kill them.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what if we break them?
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what the Selling King decides.
[SPEAKER_01]: They build these super weapons that actually can blast a star God into pieces.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then they give these containment vessels, where they're going to shackle these shards and keep them separate from each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the way when you kill a satan, what it would happen is it would explode and then it would reform.
[SPEAKER_01]: It would just Dr. Manhattan wreck you horrible.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, be like, thanks for
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm coming back at you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they build these, and they're called Tesseracts, hence the Tesseract Faults.
[SPEAKER_01]: This way, they're able to blast the CTAN and the second that they blast them in, they would go and capture all these shards, put them in these vaults.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are actually not large.
[SPEAKER_01]: You mean the game, they're large, but in reality, they're actually fairly small.
[SPEAKER_01]: They hold a small shard of a star god and they're locked away.
[SPEAKER_01]: This way the gods can't reform.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The necrons actually are successful here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whoa, whoa, whoa.
[SPEAKER_00]: Successful.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to put a big asterisk on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they do kill.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it three set hands?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually not clear.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you have the receiver?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the receiver, the nightbraker, the void dragon, which is from different but.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have what's called transcendent right now, but there's multiple contests that are there.
[SPEAKER_00]: The thing about that I say, I give you the asterisk on the successful because
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, they lose fleets, worlds.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's not really down.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, total is catastrophic.
[SPEAKER_01]: They become, this may fray this better.
[SPEAKER_01]: The consequence of this success is the death of massive portions of the Necron.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when we say massive, I mean,
[SPEAKER_00]: have two thirds.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they just, they get wrecked.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's not much left in the problem is that the Necron, remember, this war in heaven was the Necron and the Satan against the old ones, the Eldar and the Crook.
[SPEAKER_01]: At this stage, the Satan are gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Necrons have no allies.
[SPEAKER_01]: The old ones are gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's one less enemy.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the Eldar and the Crook are very much so alive.
[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest thing about the Necrons of Lost
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well over.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also during this time, which we again don't know how much time is passed and this this big battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: The elder in the court have just been getting gigantic.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is so much time is passed.
[SPEAKER_00]: Their empires are just growing.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's so many more of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: They become technologically more.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're growing, and the entire time this is happening, the Necron have have maybe two-third losses of their entire civilization, and they realize we can't win against those guys, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: We're about to get wrecked, just no.
[SPEAKER_01]: No holds barred, Eldar and Corp.
[SPEAKER_01]: are run over us completely.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing is, we still have a vast empire, but we're looking into the future and we're seeing, I can't, I can't win and extended forever battle with these guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: We need another option.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Sonic King decides the best thing to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: This actually is fairly clever.
[SPEAKER_01]: He knows that eventually, the elder and the crook would fall to themselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, they look into and they run models.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the biggest thing, because again, the necrons are so wildly technologically superior.
[SPEAKER_00]: They look not into the future with magic.
[SPEAKER_00]: They run constructive models and say, if we just leave them alone,
[SPEAKER_00]: These are too destructive.
[SPEAKER_00]: The poets are going to kill themselves because they're not supposed to be warriors.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this other race is going to do the question.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just violently wildly violent.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they will destroy themselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: We just need to lay low for a little while.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, but apparently even though we're technologically superior, we don't have alarm clocks that work really well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: He decides the selling king decides the best thing to do is to build these giant tombs, where everyone knows the states.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because we didn't, we touched it breezy, but the necrons, when we were the necrone tier, mastered stasis pods, where this would allow them to move from their home planet to other civilizations, they would just sleep the whole time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they decided to go, well, why don't we just build those at a massive scale?
[SPEAKER_01]: and they build these stations wide scale and they build these stasis chambers and all throughout and all of the necrons go into stasis and then phase shift which is their version of teleporting below ground effectively where no one knows that they exist so all throughout the galaxy there are
[SPEAKER_01]: entire two worlds sitting below the surface that no one knows their way below the surface like they don't people other civilization don't even know the Netherlands are there yeah you don't take a well and bump into this thing it's well below that like close the core but dive into more probably the next episode talk about how they're run with spiders and scarab's second pretty cool how that actually there's a bunch of
[SPEAKER_00]: non-sentient.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that that that mean pain them pseudo.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the last of the silent king does after ordering everyone into sleep.
[SPEAKER_01]: Huge mistake.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it ends up being a pretty big mistake.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean they just, they do rewrite it a little bit to all that point.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he destroys the anger and chip.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he has an anger and chip is what gave him the power over all of the backgrounds.
[SPEAKER_01]: He destroys this.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does this because in his mind, he failed his people.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then he goes into dark space and pouts.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he fails people.
[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone goes to sleep except for the silent king.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he takes his ship and heads out into dark space.
[SPEAKER_01]: And his idea was, I'm going to leave them all with their own devices.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'll reemerge when the alarm clock goes off.
[SPEAKER_01]: They'll come up with a couple above ground and everyone will be honky dory.
[SPEAKER_01]: No concerns whatsoever.
[SPEAKER_01]: My bad guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I should have meant to push AM.
[SPEAKER_00]: I accidentally push PM on the alarm.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they sleep for a long time.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's something million years.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they missed that alarm by a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that being said, they missed their alarm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, the silent king has to come back to the galaxy, because while out in dark space, he bumped into something.
[SPEAKER_01]: He realizes that there is an incredible threat to the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are we going to comment in the fact that tear units are the old ones?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll be talking about the next episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: But with that, we'll break till the next one, which will be Necron's part two.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that one, we're going to dive into the return of the silent king, the research, the Necron's prospect of the time talking about how hilarious that must have been for the imperial space, all of a sudden have been fully conquered, functional worlds that have been
[SPEAKER_00]: human worlds for thousands of years.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And all of a sudden, giant pyramids showing up from the crust of the earth.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I did popping up and then everything came out and they are super murdery.
[SPEAKER_00]: Super murdery and super tech savvy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the ad mech were pissed.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were genuinely pissed when this happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, with that though, please like and subscribe.
[SPEAKER_01]: Leave us a comment.
[SPEAKER_01]: A positive comment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, it's negative comment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just tell us directly and I'll fix it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me in a good way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not saying don't say bad things.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying if you've got a question.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just defending this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, I'm trying to not be a complete jerk on it with that though.
[SPEAKER_01]: This has been John Barsati and Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_00]: This guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: See you guys next week.
