00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Final Hour. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: In this Thursday, Gang's all here, ready to go full speed ahead. Every day's the Super Bowl. Fritzi's here, Marv Paully, yours truly in the back room, guys, I think we've exhausted the bam out of Baio had the audacity to score eighty three points. And I go back to how I started the show that you know if you go, Bam had eighty three, Kobe had eighty one. I think if it was Lebron who had eighty one and not Kobe, I don't think people would have nearly the problem that they did yesterday. Roger Maris and Babe Ruth. It was like, how dare you beat Babe Ruth? If anybody's gonna do it, it should be Mickey Mantle. And you needed one hundred and sixty two games. Babe had one fifty four. Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, We're gonna let Barry Bonds cheat his way to the all time home run Mark Miles Garrett with the sack record with Michael Straham. I don't think too many people had a problem with that. They had a problem with Michael Strahan surpassing Mark Gastino in the way he did. But these are just some of the instances examples of we hold on to those who we treasure or how we treasure them. And I think there was almost like this fence, this protective shield that was put up over Kobe's legacy yesterday with how would Kobe have reacted to this? Should he Bam have stopped at eighty one as a tribute to Kobe, which would have been a pretty cool thing. But Bam out of Bio had a chance, and he took the opportunity. And yes, I know there's some shady things going on in the final five minutes, Yes there were, Yes, there were. Was it disappointing to watch it play out that way? Yes, I mean forty three free throws, I mean it didn't feel like basketball, I'll put it that way. But I'm still going to celebrate the eighty three that he had, and I think people should celebrate it. And maybe you don't want to celebrate eighty three, how about we celebrate what he did in three quarters, Because I don't think anybody said anything in the first quarter, right, did anybody say he's got thirty one points? 00:02:14 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:02:15 Speaker 2: But it's against the Wizards. Yeah, but they're letting him score. Yeah, or when he had what forty three at halftime, or when he has sixty two at the end of three. I don't think anybody said anything about that. It was was he chasing Kobe's mark? Not even record? Was he chased? Yes, he was Kobe's idol and he trying to get to eighty two, got to eighty three. But man, the number of former players or analysts, the talons came out. They were going after bam Adebayo. Yes, Marvin, what. 00:02:53 Speaker 3: Do you think the record is for most points in three quarters? 00:02:59 Speaker 4: Oh? Polly raised quickly. Coincidentally, I have that on my screen. It's a tie, Bam and Kobe. Sixty two points in three quarters. Kobe did it, Not in the eighty one point game. 00:03:12 Speaker 5: He did it. 00:03:12 Speaker 4: He had sixty two against Dallas in five dang okay, James Harden and Klay Thompson both had sixty in three quarters. 00:03:21 Speaker 2: Didn't Kobe outscore the MAVs? Was he up like sixty two to sixty one? 00:03:28 Speaker 4: Checking? 00:03:28 Speaker 2: Does that sound right? 00:03:30 Speaker 4: Sounds about right? 00:03:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, But Kobe wasn't defined by eighty one, Bam. He might be defined by eighty three. That'll be the moment of his career. Hasn't won an NBA title. I think he's been All Defensive Team four times there and he's only twenty eight. He's just not known as his score. So people had a problem with that. He's not a score. You did it against the Wizards and the way that they helped you chase that number, and people had a problem with that. 00:03:59 Speaker 4: Yes, Morvin, yep. 00:04:00 Speaker 3: Most people were thinking it should have been an all time great like currently the Lucas, the Kyries, Harden, whoever. But it should not have been bam out of by who's not a scorer by nature. People are disgusted by this. In Kobe stands. I mean they came out of the woodworks last night out for blood. 00:04:19 Speaker 4: Yes, Paul, I went back and looked at that box score from December of five Lakers won twelve, Mavericks ninety. The Lakers had a huge lead going to the fourth quarter, and I don't see that Kobe played or took a shot in the fourth quarter. So he got sixty two in come on, he got sixty two and thirty three minutes and sat down for the fourth quarter. 00:04:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought at some point he had outscored the Mavericks. 00:04:44 Speaker 4: You are correct, he was up on the Mavericks by himself at the end of the third This might be more impressive than eighty one sixty two and then sitting down by choice. 00:04:56 Speaker 2: I just got this some DraftKings. We brought this up before. Could Victor wembin Yama steal the MVP? Well, I'm looking at the odds. Shay gilgis overwhelming odds right now to be the MVP. Then it's Joker and Joker's odds tied with Victor wembin Yama. This will come down to can Sga stay healthy enough to play sixty five games? Can Joker? I don't think he can afford to miss more than one game. And then you got Victor wemban Yama playing at a very high rate. But those are updated MVP odds. Let's see, do you want to update the poor polar results, Seaton and what are you going to go with in the final hour of the program. 00:05:38 Speaker 6: Yeah, we're gonna have a new one. But you know what I keep thinking about too with the Kobe and Bam thing, and that makes it so unique is that Bam March Bam Bam Margera scoring eighty three point. 00:05:55 Speaker 2: I mean, right, that's impressive. That's impressive. 00:05:58 Speaker 6: He's not, like he's never really been the main guy necessarily, Like, he's not the person that the game is supposed to run through. He's not the Kobe of his team. He's not the Will, you know, the Michael, the focal point. He's not Steph Curry. 00:06:13 Speaker 7: You know. 00:06:14 Speaker 6: He's kind of a big dude playing a game that doesn't really exist anymore in some ways, you know, And that to me is really impressive. 00:06:22 Speaker 2: You would have thought Tyler Hero would be the guy if you said, oh, somebody from the Miami Heat put up eighty three, I wouldn't have said bam. 00:06:31 Speaker 6: But Tyler Hero hasn't even come close to that. 00:06:33 Speaker 8: No. 00:06:34 Speaker 2: I think you said forty point games, but I don't think he's ever gone to fifty. 00:06:38 Speaker 6: I don't think he's gone right, And I think even forty he's only done one time. 00:06:42 Speaker 7: Maybe. 00:06:42 Speaker 2: Yeah. College basketball punching the ticket. McNeese not what happened to State, PAULI. It was McNeese State for as long as I can remember. 00:06:52 Speaker 4: The great question, I like, where your head's at? McNee State University from nineteen thirty nine was named Lake Charles Junior College. I knew you were going to ass this. So for years they were McNeese State University starting in nineteen seventy, and whenever you would watch college basketball over the past generation, McNee State was up at half or McNeese State was down at half. About three years ago, the athletic department said, we're going to call ourselves a McNeese but the school is still called McNeese State University. 00:07:23 Speaker 6: Back to you just saying not a fan, Yeah, I agree. 00:07:28 Speaker 4: Keep the state. 00:07:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, one state, always state. Well Memphis did this Memphis State? Now Memphis, that's right? And I checked state Kent. 00:07:37 Speaker 4: I checked the map. There is no state of McNeice in America. Technically there's not, but it was named after a guy named John McNeice. McNee State University still called. 00:07:46 Speaker 2: That Lehigh and Idaho the vandals they punched their ticket. Is it the University of Idaho? 00:07:55 Speaker 4: Yes? Not Idaho State or where there is an I to hostate Pocatello. 00:08:03 Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm gonna say yes. Lehigh Engineers, is that right? 00:08:10 Speaker 4: Mustangs? 00:08:11 Speaker 2: Wait, they're the Mustangs now? 00:08:14 Speaker 4: I don't know. Checking I thought they. 00:08:16 Speaker 2: Were the Lehigh Engineers there checking. Yeah, who'd you think? 00:08:22 Speaker 4: I said? I got the the Mountain Hawk, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. 00:08:31 Speaker 2: They must have changed it from the engineers. 00:08:33 Speaker 4: Yeah, I got the Lehigh. I think Lesal was the engineers. 00:08:37 Speaker 2: No, they were the Explorers. 00:08:40 Speaker 5: That's great. 00:08:41 Speaker 4: So I have Lehigh as currently the Mountain Hawks. 00:08:45 Speaker 2: Okay, but you got to check because their logo I thought used to be a chut choo train, shoot choo train, shoot choo train. 00:08:53 Speaker 4: Dan, You're right, it was the Lehigh engineers for decades. Okay, t you in New York. 00:08:58 Speaker 2: I'm taking the chew choo train with the train into Grandpa mode right there. Yeah, come in here, come on, let's play with the chew choo train. Lehigh goes back to the tournament first time since twenty twelve, and we remember what happened then the upset number to see Duke in the round sixty four too, Choo the mountain Hawk. 00:09:24 Speaker 4: Yeah, we're checking what year they switched they pivoted to Mountain Hawk. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: Okay, but are they trying to get rid of the nerd attachment to Lehigh engineers? Is that what they're trying to do. 00:09:37 Speaker 6: That's like with. 00:09:40 Speaker 4: A Mountain Hawk in November ninety five, the school introduced the Mountain Hawk as the mascot, replacing the L Train. 00:09:46 Speaker 2: The E L train was awesome, but L Train was Lionel Simmons, and. 00:09:52 Speaker 4: He became the L Train, and the entire basketball team is called the L Train. 00:09:58 Speaker 2: Oh okay, but IONL. Simmons was known as the L Train former Sacramento King, but he didn't play at Lehigh, right, Lionel Simmons from Philadelphia? 00:10:10 Speaker 4: Yes, how about to leave the caboose? 00:10:13 Speaker 9: Just roll that out? Why the train theme going as being facetious? They thought you true train wasn't cool enough. How do you think you did today? 00:10:24 Speaker 4: One guess the train reference? 00:10:27 Speaker 9: Just now you blew off us Tucker hurt that relationship. 00:10:31 Speaker 2: It's okay. I wasn't gonna ask you how you think you did I was gonna wait. I'm gonna give you the final hour to salvage something. But I'll ask you at the end of the show how you think you did it? 00:10:43 Speaker 4: Somewhere between D pleas and C minus. 00:10:44 Speaker 9: We'll see how that next half hour goes. 00:10:46 Speaker 2: And yeah, yeah, yes, Bally and it's. 00:10:49 Speaker 4: The McNeese Cowboys. McNeese Cowboys. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, thank you, we are up to date on March Madden. I'm ready to fill out my bracket now. After this AJ debanza had twenty seven as b Yu knocked off West Virginia and then it was Idaho knocking off Montana and McNeese beating Stephen F. Austin. Don't we make that joke every year? 00:11:17 Speaker 7: You know? 00:11:18 Speaker 2: Why, Steve? Why F Austin? 00:11:20 Speaker 5: What did? 00:11:21 Speaker 2: What did Austin do? What did Stephen do? Stephen F. Austin like Bucky F And yes. 00:11:29 Speaker 4: Paul, anybody know this Stephen F. Austin University mascot. 00:11:34 Speaker 2: It's a cowboy, it's a it's manly. 00:11:37 Speaker 4: Let's put it. It's very manly, does it? 00:11:40 Speaker 2: Somebody has a cowboy hat on. 00:11:42 Speaker 6: It's a beaver wearing a cowboy hat. No, they're not the Stephen F. Austin beaver cowboy Beaver's Okay. I thought maybe it was like a hybrid name. I got lumberjacks, Oh, the flannel lumberjacks down in Texas there, Steve An F. 00:12:00 Speaker 4: Austin. I don't sleep on the logging community of Texas. 00:12:02 Speaker 6: If they cut the trees down, every single one of them, there's no more mission. 00:12:08 Speaker 2: Yeah, then I would say Stephen F. Austin, what's the line out of the movie? Ted Scott f Scott Fitzgail, what's what Scott's jail got? What did you do? 00:12:20 Speaker 8: You said? 00:12:25 Speaker 7: All? Right? 00:12:25 Speaker 2: Final hour of the program. Here, get some more phone calls coming up. Rory McElroy defending his Players Championship title. He's been bothered by a tender back. Scottie Scheffler is the big favorite Players Championship on NBC and Peacock. I had Todd reach out to Mike Florio and I said, can Max Crosby find out the information as to why he failed as physical with the Ravens? And Florio said, the documentation typically goes to the teams and the player's agent. Max will be able to find out exactly why he failed his physical. By the way, Diana Rossini was on the show yesterday and I was surprised. Now I brought this up on the trade situation that maybe it's a little shady, and here is Diana Rossini from the Athletic. I just wonder if there was buyer remorse with this, Diana. Where the Ravens don't give up draft picks, they don't draft in the top fifteen. Now all of a sudden, you're giving up too. Maybe you realize, you know, we could get Trey Hendrickson and not give up all of this. Yeah, I don't mean to be cynical about the medicals not being. 00:13:43 Speaker 10: Cynical this thing stakes. 00:13:45 Speaker 11: What are you talking about? 00:13:46 Speaker 2: You're spot on. 00:13:48 Speaker 10: There's one hundred percent shadiness going down right now. And the reason why I say that so firmly is because I've had so many conversations with people around football who understand where Max is a with his knee. Nothing was surprising, and this trade wasn't really about what Max was going to be able to do for the Baltimore Ravens in twenty thirty, twenty twenty nine, right, this is what twenty twenty seven. So let's just say they look at this MRI and the knee is a disaster compared to the way you know projected it to be. Because teams do do that too. I had a general Matterer this morning explained to me just going through their process of what they do, and team doctors do this. They go, Okay, this is what the knee looks like. This is what we're giving it in terms of length when it will become a problem when this will bubble up, and and the Baltimore Ravens had that information and for them, they didn't feel that this knee would hold up for the long term. So I just think with the Trey Hendrickson situation out there and him holding off waiting for the numbers that he was looking for, I think the Baltimore Ravens, who already did a move that they don't know, you only do. You've got to have a certain type of philosophy and stomach to give away two first round picks for soon to be twenty nine year old Pass Rusher. And I think after the last few days, they sat there and go, you know what, we lost eight players to the New York Giants. We lost Tyler Linderbaum, like we need more, and they made the decision to go aggressive and they were able to secure Trey Hendrickson last night. 00:15:25 Speaker 2: So that's Diana Russini. And normally you don't have insiders trashing other teams because that's their meal ticket. But she was calling out Eric de Coosta, the general manager of the Ravens, that something didn't sound right. Let's take a break. That's twenty five triple doubles this season for Jokic. Fifteen of the twenty five he had a triple double before the fourth quarter started. 00:17:15 Speaker 13: Startup a Day Startup, a day, start of the day. 00:17:19 Speaker 4: Stat of the Day statut the. 00:17:21 Speaker 7: Day Startup to day start up to day Startup. 00:17:26 Speaker 2: Brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. It's gotten to the point where I'd be surprised. I am surprised when he doesn't have a triple double in a game. By the way, Damar DeRozan had thirty nine last night. The reason why I bring it up. He's now eighteenth on the NBA's all time scoring list, as he just moved past Tim Duncan. 00:17:48 Speaker 13: Stata The Jay Start of the Jay, We Love You Stata, The Day Stata, The j Stanta, the Jay Old Give Us. 00:18:03 Speaker 2: Thank you, Pandora, thank you, thank you so much. Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach, what's on your mind today? 00:18:12 Speaker 8: Heydp thanks for taking my call. Just a quick little will antidote. I always like when y'all do the if you're watching on Peacock the rewinds and when you were interviewing Roy Firestone and he bumped into Wilton said that he wanted to interview him, and he was like, yeah, I'm just trying to keep a low profile right now as he's got his three piece purple suit on getting into his limousine. I always loved that clip, but also switching gears. I wanted to ask you. I've seen a lot of chatter about the commanders either trading for or picking up Brandon Ayuk if he is released. 00:18:47 Speaker 14: Would you touch him? 00:18:50 Speaker 2: Well, I'd have to know his motivation. I'd have to know where his headspace is. But that was a rough year. Reportedly wasn't showing up for treat There was a picture of him going by the Niners Stadium going over one hundred miles an hour. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I'd have to have a long conversation with him. Uh trip in Vegas, Good morning, trip, What do you have for me? 00:19:18 Speaker 5: Hey? 00:19:18 Speaker 4: Good morning Dan. 00:19:19 Speaker 15: Always great to speak with y'all. I had a question so with for the room. So Bam credited his shooting and his improvement to Asia Wilson, who's a great player. How many he took forty three shots? How many more shots would he have had to take if his girlfriend with angelries he the. 00:19:40 Speaker 4: Wow? Wow? 00:19:47 Speaker 2: How many shots did he take in the game? 00:19:49 Speaker 4: He had? 00:19:49 Speaker 2: He had forty three free throw attempts? 00:19:51 Speaker 4: Correct? 00:19:52 Speaker 2: How many field goal attempts did he have? Total? With three pointers and two point attempts? Do we have the box score? Yeah, Pauli. 00:20:04 Speaker 4: Forty three attempts from the field and forty three free throws. Yes, twenty for forty three from the field, seven for twenty two from three to thirty six of forty three from the free throw line. 00:20:17 Speaker 2: Okay, let's see Dane in Texas. Hi, Dane, what's on your mind today? 00:20:23 Speaker 5: Oh? Good morning dad. I was surprised nobody brought this up. And most points scored per game? But does the name pee Wee Kirkland ring a bell to you? 00:20:36 Speaker 2: Well, he was a legend in the Rutger League and he actually went to Norfolk State to play with Bobby Dandridge, who went on to be a great NBA player, And then he was drafted I think by the bulls decided it was more lucrative to sell drugs. And he is a motivational speaker now, so I know a little bit about him. 00:21:02 Speaker 5: He scored one hundred and thirty five points playing for his prison team in Lewis Thurg Federal Penitentiary in the Answer Site League, and he only did it with eleven free throws and no three points shot. 00:21:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's no video of that though, Dan, you know, it's like wil Chamberlain, there's no video. Who was the kid Jack at Grenell College? Jack Taylor? Jack Taylor. He scored one thirty eight in a game. I think he took like seventy two shots, something like bonkers. But he sent me his socks, remembery the socks he wore when he scored one hundred and thirty eight. 00:21:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, PAULI, Yeah, that was at least ten years ago. Jack Taylor, Grenell College. He took oh man, he get seventy two. Guess how many field goal attempts he had total seventy two. He had seventy one three point attempts. He was twenty seven of seventy one from three. He took one hundred and eight shots in the game and hit fifty two nice percentage. 00:22:10 Speaker 2: He scored one thirty eight. 00:22:11 Speaker 4: That's right, He's five ten one seventy thing. 00:22:15 Speaker 2: There was a time when Grenelle College, I think Division III, that they were scoring, setting all time scoring records there. But yeah, he put up one hundred and thirty eight. Well, let's see Tony in California. 00:22:30 Speaker 14: Hi, Tony, Hey guys, good morning. So the Clippers yesterday started the game with five steals in the block in the first two and a half minutes. And as I'm watching, all I can think about is the gritty and Gutty Club. So I got two nominees. Okay, first is Kawhi, unbelievably has averaged more steels than personal fouls in his career. And the second is Jeff Van Gandhi, who's the defensive coordinator for the Clippers, and the Clippers players say he's up there at three am in a hoodie doing defensive schemes. I think Jeff Van Gundhy ultimate gutty and greety book. 00:23:08 Speaker 2: Okay, a coach who's gritty and gutty, Jeff van Gundy. That's probably how he got into the business by being gritty and gutty. Former what Division three point guard? 00:23:20 Speaker 3: Yes, Marvin Kawhi, Leonard Rookie Kawhi Leonard maybe gritty and gutty right now. Way too talented of a player to be gritty and gutty. 00:23:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, Paul, Jeff Van Gutty. 00:23:31 Speaker 2: Oh okay, too easy. We're just blowing right by Fritzy. I mean these are all there. 00:23:39 Speaker 4: Get my act again? 00:23:40 Speaker 6: Are you even to hiz show starting? Oh? 00:23:46 Speaker 2: You make fun of me if I talk too much, you make fun of me if I don't talk. Speaking of which, another episode of the Todd cost today. 00:23:56 Speaker 9: We're gonna do that after the show today. 00:23:57 Speaker 2: Okay? Are you saving all your good stuff for the toodcast? 00:24:02 Speaker 1: It sounds like I am. 00:24:03 Speaker 9: That wasn't a plan, but it does give me a peers that I'm just waiting to lay for the show's over to do. 00:24:07 Speaker 2: Something, all right, Nathan in Utah, Hi, Nate, what's on your mind? 00:24:13 Speaker 7: Thanks? Dan sixty five two twenty. I've got kind of apology of MANDI look going on. Hey, I scored one hundred and five points in a church ball game, and I'd be happy to send you my my underwear I was wearing for that. But that's not why. 00:24:27 Speaker 2: That's not why I'm calling it. 00:24:28 Speaker 7: Steve Kerr has some comments on Monday about the games. 00:24:32 Speaker 4: Would NBA be better off. 00:24:33 Speaker 7: They shaved ten games off the schedule. For a long time, I've been I've been thinking about that, and I know I can how they can fix it, essentially, make the game a clean sixty minutes fifteen minute quarters. I don't know why they're forty eight minutes anyways, that's weird. That's easy for TV. I'm fans and I did the math that would minus seventeen games down to sixty five games with the exact amount of minutes that you already have. 00:24:58 Speaker 4: What do you think? 00:25:00 Speaker 2: I'm open to anything here that gets guys who want to play, they play hard, and fans know who's going to be playing in a game that's It doesn't seem like it's a lot to ask that, but it feels like when you bring it up, it is. I'm not asking you'd play seventy two eighty two, but you know, can we come up with a nice number that is? And I just don't see the players going, wait, we're going to give back all this money and we're going to play less games When we don't have to give back any money and we can still play less games now, the owners be well, you're taking away these home dates that I have you know in my my arena here, the money that's involved there. I don't think it's happening anytime soon. If it ever happens. Baseball's talked about it. If you lopped off eight games in Major League Baseball, nobody would notice. Basketball, it's eighty two. If you went down to seven to nobody's going to notice. But it goes back to the owners. Hey, I don't want to lose the revenue from these games. You're you know, TV partners spending billions of dollars needing revenue, needing inventory. I just don't see that happening. Bob and Pennsylvania. Good morning, Bob, What do you have for me? 00:26:20 Speaker 1: Good morning Dan. 00:26:21 Speaker 16: Love your show, by the way, five nine and three quarters through fifteen. So anyway, I'm a family practice doctor, and did you know a fair amount of sports medicine type stuff from the course of my practice. And my comment here is that, first of all, you're absolutely right, this could be buyer's remorse that drove the medical decision making that caused Max to be going back to Las Vegas. But there's there's more that goes into a doctor evaluating a knee and just looking at an MRI and on physical examination, which is going to be a part of that process, the doc could have noted just some shimmy or some laxity on examination of the knee that wouldn't have been apparent on the MRI, and that very easily could have been what caused the doc to say, look, I've got concerns about him being able to continue to play at his level with on this knee for X number of years. 00:27:47 Speaker 2: Yeah, I understand that, but he could also be told we need to find a reason to get out of this contract. I mean, I got to be cynical here just a little bit, because you're all in on him, and you're not all in on him, and then you quickly pivot to Trey Hendrickson. You can fail somebody with the physical. It happens all the time, Doc, where somebody will go, I see something that I think is more severe. I think this could be leading to something into two or three years down the road. And they don't you know, they don't pass you, you know, with your physical and the knee is tricky if you he just came off surgery. That's what I don't understand, is I gotta let him heal, you know, he's got six months before he has to play a football game here. But the problem is you're deciding today before I let you go, doc. Why is it when we would go each year for our physical for the football team or basketball or baseball team, when we would have to turn our head in cough? Why why did we have to turn our head? And you know, and why why the cough too? Was that for the hernia? Yes, okay, but why am I turning my. 00:28:58 Speaker 16: Cough the cough? You're turning your head so that you're not coughing in my face? 00:29:04 Speaker 2: Okay. For some reason, I thought it was part of the whole examination, like, uh, if I don't turn my head, okay, so that makes sense, I won't cough in your face. And then the cough itself, how do you detective somebody's got a hernie or not? 00:29:23 Speaker 16: Well, the cough generates a contraction of the diaphragm that pushes the contents of the abnomen down toward the growing the inguinal area, and that's where you're going to pick up a hernia and you'll detect a bulge with your finger that the cough generates. 00:29:51 Speaker 2: Okay, thank you? Do any other medical questions for the doc, general practitioner, anybody, no Hodden, No questions. 00:30:02 Speaker 5: I got too many to get into. 00:30:03 Speaker 9: I can't think of one specific one, but off the air, I probably have fifty questions. 00:30:07 Speaker 4: For Yeah, Paulie, you have one. When you see those ex NFL players that have broken fingers going in different directions, why don't they get them fixed? 00:30:17 Speaker 5: Uh? 00:30:20 Speaker 16: My best guess is that there are some procedures and some things that you try to fix, and the odds are that you're going to make them worse as opposed to correcting them. 00:30:35 Speaker 2: Plus you would have to rebreak the finger, and these players are probably saying, you know what, I don't. I don't want to have you rebreak this so you can reset it. 00:30:45 Speaker 4: Doc. 00:30:46 Speaker 2: Thank you all these years, I thought, man, I turned, I turned to the left. Man, I was great. 00:30:53 Speaker 4: I thought it like. 00:30:54 Speaker 2: The angle I'm coughing had something to do with the examination that was always weird. 00:31:00 Speaker 6: Like it's somehow like it ran through your neck all the way down to that region where you're like, oh see, you have to do that. 00:31:06 Speaker 2: So it moves the right way or something, and if you're down there detecting a bulge, keep looking. 00:31:15 Speaker 4: Thank you to hear it. 00:31:19 Speaker 2: I've had a sports hernia a couple of times. 00:31:22 Speaker 7: Uh. 00:31:22 Speaker 2: In fact, we were in this we were in Miami. Was that the first first time we were on the road with the show in Miami and Tony Sarah Gusa rest his soul was chasing me around and I had a sports hernia. Yep, we were on the beach. 00:31:37 Speaker 14: That was. 00:31:38 Speaker 2: We just threw together that show, like we we had an RB that we parked on the beach in Miami, and I just remember we had remember the first show where we had the canopy and there was so much water from raining, and then we had to have brooms and even even our boss along with Direct TV, he's out there with a broom trying to knock water off the canopy with the RV. But it was fun. That was fun. Let's see Steve in New York. Hi Steve, what's on your mind today? 00:32:14 Speaker 5: Hi? 00:32:15 Speaker 11: Dan, thanks for taking my call. I just heard the stat the forty three and forty three thing. If Bam had hit three more threes instead of twos, he would have really eighty six Kobe's record. 00:32:28 Speaker 4: Oh second place. 00:32:30 Speaker 2: All right, thank you, Steve, Thank you. At least we're having fun with this now because yesterday and yesterday evening Man, there were a lot of people who had a lot of problem with Bam scoring eighty three. I mean I could have a problem. Do I have a problem with Bam? 00:32:50 Speaker 4: No? 00:32:51 Speaker 2: Do I have a problem with the Wizards? Maybe Eric Spolstrog, Yeah, but not to the degree of you know, this ruined my dad. I mean, I'm I'm very sanctimonious when it comes to stats. You know that I appreciate what you did, when you did it, and who you did it against. But this didn't bothered me. It didn't bother me at all. The way it was played in the last five minutes, you know, that wasn't reminiscent resembling basketball. But what he did in the first three quarters, what he did after the first quarter, you get thirty one. I got people have to acknowledge that. You may not want to acknowledge at the end of the game. That's your right, but you can't. There's nothing that's arguable a guy scoring thirty one. You know, the last time we had somebody score that many points I think at a first quarter And I don't know, Okay, now I want I don't want to tell you the team, but the fact that this guy scored thirty four points. Okay, you know, let me take a break. I want to make sure I got it right. But I think this guy had thirty four points in the first quarter against Portland. 00:34:08 Speaker 4: All right, against Portland. 00:34:10 Speaker 2: Take a break, more phone calls, last call for phone calls, and a great this day in sports history. Paulie may not be aware of it, but I am. I have that for you. And it's a great trivia question too. 00:34:24 Speaker 6: Man, Do I really hope that that's the scoreboard coming up here? 00:34:27 Speaker 4: That Todd's gonna take it? 00:34:28 Speaker 12: Please? 00:34:32 Speaker 2: Todd may steal my thunder here after stealing my thunder? 00:34:37 Speaker 6: Yes, how many thunders can Tod steal today? 00:34:40 Speaker 4: More than a number of guests that we have. 00:34:42 Speaker 2: Paulie would always have this day in sports history? And then you did scoreboard, which it always was a prelude to Paulie's This Day in sports history. 00:34:49 Speaker 9: And there's so many things that happened in history. You think, what's the chance of us having with the same ones. It's like fifty things that happen every day in life. 00:34:56 Speaker 2: I hope that you don't have my h It's a great it's a great trivia question. 00:35:01 Speaker 4: Please let it be. 00:35:05 Speaker 2: No, because he's gonna do it. Now you're in the commercial break. 00:35:08 Speaker 6: Yes, and we're all gonna You're gonna ask the question, and we're gonna be four out of four. We're all gonna get it right. 00:35:17 Speaker 9: It's the risk to take sometimes at the old snow. 00:35:19 Speaker 2: It's called a tease. It's called a teas. 00:35:21 Speaker 4: We're back after this. 00:35:23 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. 00:35:34 Speaker 2: When it comes to March Madness. Filling out my bracket, I go back to my old ways, that's in college, where I would cram for a test last minute. But I'm gonna I'm gonna get ahead of the brackets. I'm gonna bring in Seth Greenberg from the Mothership tomorrow so he can help me prepare for what to expect on selection Sunday. So I'm gonna be ready to go next week with my brackets. All right, last call for phone calls, what we learn what's in store tomorrow. By the way, Fritzi, your brother who works at the Mothership, reached out and said that was a great tease that I had after the break. I think you may have done it. I think you may have used it for this day in sports history, I hope not. Okay, the last player to score at least fifty points in an NCAA tournament game. 00:36:26 Speaker 9: I think I know the answer to that one. 00:36:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that was part of your this day in Sports History. 00:36:32 Speaker 9: But on radio, I don't think we carry the score. But on radio so far, radio audience, this is a right. That's only the TV audience. 00:36:37 Speaker 4: I know, I know, I know we can see. 00:36:39 Speaker 2: Also, it's also Paully's statu of. 00:36:43 Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't think anybody heard. 00:36:44 Speaker 9: It was pretty loud out there while Eady was playing basketball. 00:36:47 Speaker 2: When I was reading your lips, reading my lips, I did, I was reading your lips. David Robinson had fifty points in a loss in nineteen eighty seven Navy eat Michigan. 00:37:03 Speaker 4: Stead of the. 00:37:03 Speaker 2: Day, sad of the day, that best dad of the day of the day. Who cares? 00:37:11 Speaker 7: What? 00:37:12 Speaker 2: Okay, this player I think scored thirty four points in the first quarter of a game against Portland. 00:37:23 Speaker 4: Yes, can I guess if I looked it up, then it's not a guest. 00:37:27 Speaker 11: I know. 00:37:29 Speaker 4: Did you look it up. 00:37:30 Speaker 16: Us. 00:37:30 Speaker 9: I looked it up, but I'm not gonna pretend I didn't look at Why do you do that? Because I was just really curious. 00:37:36 Speaker 4: I looked it up. 00:37:37 Speaker 2: You couldn't you couldn't, couldn't. 00:37:38 Speaker 9: Wait, I can't control myself. 00:37:40 Speaker 4: I just had to see what the answer was. Yes, Paul, I'm going out west with Devin Booker. 00:37:45 Speaker 2: Devin Booker. No, I think this happened ten years ago, and this guy. Once again, I'm just going off memory, so I don't know if he was not on the team that you would have thought that he to put up these kind of numbers. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I believe he put up thirty four points on Portland in the first quarter. Marvin Kevin Love? Yes, is that right? 00:38:18 Speaker 4: Was it? 00:38:18 Speaker 2: First quarter? Portland thirty four? 00:38:20 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:38:20 Speaker 4: November sixteen, November twenty third, twenty sixteen. K Love had thirty four in the first quarter, eleven for fourteen from the field, eight of ten from three. He finished the game with forty points. 00:38:33 Speaker 2: Okay, you wouldn't think that Kevin Love would be putting up those kind of numbers. Now, it's a first quarter record now, and then would Clay have thirty seven. 00:38:49 Speaker 4: Yeah, that's any quarter record. 00:38:51 Speaker 2: God, that's that's just amazing, just amazing. And the fact that they counted his dribbles and he had less than ten Dribblesa's crazy. 00:39:01 Speaker 6: That is one of the craziest things of all time. 00:39:04 Speaker 2: Yes, Barvin, I'm sorry. 00:39:05 Speaker 3: It was thirty seven and eleven dribbles. 00:39:09 Speaker 2: Oh eleven drill? Oh okay, he was Kyrie that night. Eleven eleven, yes, heye, stranger things he was eleven. Uh yes, Paul. 00:39:19 Speaker 4: January of twenty fifteen for Klay Thompson, he was thirteen for thirteen from the field in that quarter. Come on, man, I know, I know, come on man. 00:39:32 Speaker 2: Final results of the pole question. 00:39:35 Speaker 6: This is a wild last hour today, Yes, it was this kind of a kooky one. 00:39:39 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:39:39 Speaker 2: Let's see. 00:39:40 Speaker 6: Do you believe the Ravens were trying to Pairtray Hendrickson and Max Crosby together right now? Ninety percent of the audience say no, no, they do not. And if you can have two Pro bowlers on your team at one position, defensive line, cornerback, wide receiver or other right now, defensive line has sixty percent of that vote, followed by quarnerbacks. 00:39:56 Speaker 2: Paulie, do you have anything to add to this day in sports history. 00:39:58 Speaker 4: I'm gonna give you the one I prepare eighty seven David Robinson with fifty but eighty five. Larry Bird scores sixty against the Atlanta Hawks down in New Orleans. Uh Bird had sixty points and hit one three. 00:40:16 Speaker 2: Dang well he hit a three that he fell out of bounds, cocked into the trainer like Joe O'Toole might have been the trainer for the Hawks. But I would watch that again the second half of the fourth quarter just to see the Atlanta Hawks bench. They were acting as if they were Celtics that night. 00:40:37 Speaker 4: Wild. But that was in New Orleans, correct, Correct? And it was five days after Kevin McHale scored fifty. 00:40:44 Speaker 2: Six and and Larry said to Kevin that he should have scored more. He was going to beat the record. So we'll do a little march madness. Get you ready, we get the team USA versus Canada tomorrow night in or go home? Who you got? 00:41:03 Speaker 6: Uh? 00:41:04 Speaker 2: Well, team USA? 00:41:06 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:41:08 Speaker 6: But if you're rooting for a good story. 00:41:11 Speaker 2: That if Canada wins, it's a good story. It's you win either way, right, Yes, yeah, yeah, good story? All right, let's go around the room. Todd'd you learn anything today? 00:41:19 Speaker 9: Did Rush Tucker wants landed in Atlanta think he was about to be a falcon, but was informed in the car he failed as physical taken right back to the airport, Seaton. 00:41:26 Speaker 6: Would you learn today Todd has the ability to steal many thunders in one day. 00:41:30 Speaker 2: Mm hmm. 00:41:32 Speaker 3: Marvin Seeing is now scarf face scarf face Paulie. 00:41:38 Speaker 4: These days in sports history. 00:41:40 Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us, Our pleasure to serve you for fritzy seat and Marv Pauli yours truly in the back room.
