Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: Final Hour on this Monday Best and Worst of the weekend. Once you saw that you liked you didn't like, Operator Tyler is sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Stat of the Day is always brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program NBA on NBC and Peacock every Tuesday in primetime coast to coast Tuesday. In the East, you can see the Spurs and the seventy six ers. In the West, Suns and the King ohoh man, that doesn't sound good at all, Sons and the Kings.

00:00:34
Speaker 3: Yee.

00:00:36
Speaker 2: I'd watch it, Bott. I'm just saying for the rest of America, yee. It begins Tuesday at eight Eastern on NBC and Peacock, which is where you can find our program on Peacock. Download the app if you haven't done so. Also, the NBC Sports Network Combine is over. March is here spring training, and we also get ready for the Draft in Pittsburgh coming up in April. Around the corner with Augusta. Now they've been playing golf there on the Florida Swing, and then it'll be Augusta, and I don't know if Tiger's playing or not. He sort of alluded to this in Los Angeles at the Genesis that he might be playing there. Hasn't ruled out playing at Augusta. You know, my issue with Tiger would be can he play four days? I know he can play one day, but can you play four? And you don't get a golf court. You got to walk, and that is a lot hillier course if you haven't been there on the grounds and the stress, the wear and tear. There was a story that came out with Carnell Tate, Ohio state wide receiver, and he ran a four or five three at the Combine. Adam Schefter then reported that apparently there were hand time forty yard dashes for him that were considerably lower in the four fours. Whether that's true or not, but I was curious about this. It's not a death sentence to run four or five at the Combine. Ceedee Lamb, Mike Evans, Keenan Allen, DeAndre Hopkins, Davante Adams, I'm on Ross, Saint Brown and t Higgins all ran four or five forties. I just want to know how you run your route, not necessarily how fast you are. I'd like to know how quick you are. I think that's far more important. It's getting in and out of your cuts. Can you do know how to play football? That's what I want to know, because if you're straight ahead speed, I mean Bob Hayes, go back to the Cowboys in the sixties. Bob was an Olympic gold medalist and he had speed that we had never seen in the NFL. But he was one of those guys straight ahead speed. He was going to beat you deep, but he wasn't a route runner. John Ross one of the fastest men on the planet. He went to the Bengals and couldn't play. There's been a couple of these players who have run those four twos. But I want to know what you do with your four to two, because you're four to two may not be worth what my four to five is. So it's not the end of the world that Carnell tate. He's going to be probably a top ten pick. But you run a four or five, I still have to go back to what you did in college. Okay, that's important. I can't put all the emphasis on the combine and not put enough emphasis on the regular season, yes, Marv, And I.

00:03:28
Speaker 4: Don't think that people realize just how incredibly fast running a four or five in the forty actually is, and how many of the great all time Alzheimers were known as quote unquote burners like Randy Moss could fly, but how many of those guys were really known as burners.

00:03:42
Speaker 2: Randy Moss had everything. That's the most talented wide receiver I've ever seen, easily, and people might look at it and say it was a disappointing career like hed Minnesota the Raiders, then all of a sudden fell out of favor. He ends up with New England. But I remember the first time I saw him at Marshall and he was doing a crossing pattern. I remember, oh my god, that guy he is gone six', five caught it gone AND i, went all, right got my attention. There and then you find out that he was going to go To Notre dame AND i Think Florida.

00:04:22
Speaker 1: State but.

00:04:25
Speaker 2: Quite a, freak you know when you think about just how great he.

00:04:29
Speaker 3: Was, Yes, paul, oh some LIGHT nfl breaking, news okay and over. Selling, okay we'll play a little. Game. Okay The Detroit lions have Traded David. Montgomery David montgomery serviceable running back to the blank for, blank to the blank for. Blank where Did David montgomery go this? Morning according to multiple, Reports arizona The Houston texans for a fifth round draft.

00:04:57
Speaker 2: Pick, okay So Joe mixon probably not coming, back AND i don't know the extent of his entry or his recovery, period But Joe mixon had you, know a few good seasons.

00:05:11
Speaker 5: There, yeah see more upsetting being drafted in the fifth round or being traded for a fifth.

00:05:16
Speaker 2: ROUNDER i would say being drafted in the fifth round because there's a lot of talented players who get, traded and they don't get traded for a. Lot you, know it can be a third round draft pick and you're, like, wait that guy's really. Good but that's What i'm, Saying Like David.

00:05:37
Speaker 5: Montgomery don't you think he's looking at them and be, like what the, Heck i'm way better than a fifth.

00:05:41
Speaker 2: Rounder, NO i think he's looking at it and he's, like, YES i get to be a starting running back in THE. NFL i don't know if he looks at it and goes all you need is somebody to want. You that's. It like just one. Team who wants. You if you want out of your, team somebody wants. You, GREAT i. DON'T i mean maybe he stole. ME i don't want you wasting a higher. Pick we want to use all those picks to make this. Team i'm going to. Better But David, montgomery he wanted out Of, detroit got his, wish and he's going to The Houston texans for a fifth. Rounder, Yes, Paul, yeah he's in his seventh. Year six thousand yards, rushing sixty. Touchdowns pretty. Good, yeah two.

00:06:17
Speaker 3: Hundred and thirty. Catches he's, like not, famous really good running.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: Back, yeah good for him and good for The. Texans now they just need an offensive. Line don't Tell David montgomery. That, yeah that'd be my first. Question, hey how's the offensive? Line Because i'm leaving a pretty good offensive line In. Detroit have you seen that video When Penny sewell And Aaron donald are going at each, other grabbing each other's face, mask and it's one of those where you, GO i don't know Who i'd pick here Because Aaron donald strikes me as lowered to the ground. Wrestler penny soul is just a big. Man but you're seeing these two guys grab it onto each other's face, mask And i'm, going m, man DO i take the low?

00:07:09
Speaker 6: Guy?

00:07:10
Speaker 3: Usually?

00:07:11
Speaker 2: Yeah leverage, guy yeah. Yeah but IF i gave you the first, Pick i'm okay. With you know WHO i get left. With if he, said, well you're gonna have To you're gonna be saddled With penny soul and be, like all, right, well let's see WHAT i can. Do do we have a new poll question for hour, two we will talk to THE nfl, Reporter Jeremy, FOWLER espn SENIOR nfl. Reporter he'll join us coming up a little. Bit all, Right, Seed, Yeah.

00:07:35
Speaker 5: I'm trying to land on if the combine is important for some, players all, players or really.

00:07:42
Speaker 2: Nobody i'd say some players because you got a lot of emotional reaction by players who got the opportunity to just be there on the same field as these other players from bigger. SCHOOLS i think it's really important for those players because now you get a national, platform AND i think to be able to showcase your. TALENTS i think that's essential for you to be able to make a roster. THERE i think it can hurt players who are from big schools and they're not as fast or strong agile as maybe we thought they were by comparison to other. Players but for the most, part the combine accomplishes WHAT i think it's supposed, to and that is get everybody, together certain, drills certain things that you evaluate and put extra value. On but it's you, know It's Pro football's convention and you're going. There you just hope that your team doesn't go crazy on what the results are on three days In indie as opposed to four months Of. Saturdays but the medicals are really, important probably the number one, thing because you want to see somebody actually you, know six' one instead of, you know five to ten and. A half and that's usually what happens is somebody comes in and they got their program height and, you're, like Ohlady, diego pavilla are you? Five nine are you? Five, Seven, yes MARVIN.

00:09:16
Speaker 4: And i think for teams you don't want to get tricked in draft the better athlete and not the better.

00:09:22
Speaker 2: Football, player yes that's a great point because we've seen the better athlete who gets drafted and it's because based off of what happened at the combine every, single year and then somebody is going to get, you know. These teams it's amazing how much time you put in too, these players and, you know, the draft, your scouts and then all of a sudden you get to the, you know the actual, draft itself and then you make this spontaneous decision or the owner comes in, and goes now we're, Taking him WAIT what i?

00:09:58
Speaker 7: Want?

00:09:58
Speaker 2: Him, oh okay and then it doesn't, pan out and then all of, a sudden the fingers would blame or, you know moving around. The, Room, Later, YES paul.

00:10:08
Speaker 3: I went back to that twenty. Seventeen Draft john ross Out. Of washington he was crazy at the combine with his. Forty numbers he was drafted ninth Overall, by cincinnati right After, Him Mahomes, Marshawn Latimore, deshaun Watson As, son reddick all quality OR great.

00:10:24
Speaker 2: Nfl PLAYERS and i Remember Watching john Ross at WASHINGTON and, i thought there's nobody who can stay. WITH him i. JUST didn't, I mean i found. Out later, you know he was just. Really fast he was not a great, football player but you can be fast in college and get away with it IN. The, nfl now you've got to be able to run. Some routes can you catch it? In traffic you know when guys are going to pound you here college IT'S open nfl open for about that amount.

00:10:58
Speaker 8: Of, time.

00:10:59
Speaker 4: Yes morv another guy that made we fall we have me fallen for the banana and. The Tailpipe Darius Hayward.

00:11:05
Speaker 2: Bay yes so Out. Of maryland he was. A burner i know that's a.

00:11:12
Speaker 9: Good.

00:11:12
Speaker 2: Call uh David, In, Ohio, hi david what's on? Your? Mind David? Sorry? David uh Sam In, La, hi sam what's on your?

00:11:27
Speaker 8: Mind?

00:11:28
Speaker 10: Today hey Good morning dan And The dan. Patrick team you guys. Are wonderful i've been trying to reach you since you ended your Interview with ROBERT or i just wanted to say you took that to a level That was emmy worthy when you broach the question tell us about. Your DAUGHTER as i was driving, out here it just, brought uh, you know made my eyes WATER and, i think you, know what that Was an emmy worthy moment that you went to a level that most guys probably would. Have ASKED and i just wanted to say thank you.

00:11:59
Speaker 2: For, that well, Thank, you sam thank you for. The compliment and, you know THE more i look at, his career THE more i look at it, and say You're a hall. Of famer. He is we get caught up, in NUMBERS but i want to know when you get. YOUR numbers i mean that's when you talk about the history OF. The Nba robert. Orry is he's. Prominently featured you're on three different. Great FRANCHISES but i got to look at you in. The postseason we put so much emphasis on. The postseason your nickname Is Big, shot bob and you, have proof and you played and. Won titles and he was a really good Player, At alabama and yes he was a role player IN. The nba But if i'm looking at Man, who Jenobli and i'm Looking at robert rri man who didn't start. Very OFTEN but i think He's a hall. Of famer he's one of my favorite players to WATCH because i kept thinking he was so far ahead of everybody else. With eurostep he was going left every, single time and you still couldn't stop him even if you were playing him to. His Left But robert Orry's a Hall. OF famer i really. Believe that and, you know he talked about having health insurance for, you know minorities, inner city and he talked about his daughter passing away at the age of nineteen. And seventeen was, That right? Marvin seventeen and you're, just like, you know that's a heavy thing that you're going to carry with you the rest of. Your life you never get. Over it you just try to put things on top, of it but it eventually. Comes BACK but i appreciated. HIM sharing, i mean that's these interviews aren't good unless. They share If bo jackson doesn't come on, and, Say hey i've never, told ANYBODY but i just got through prostate. Cancer surgery it's a great interview because he's. TELLING us i didn't know it was going to. Tell me but that's what makes. It great somebody on the other end has got to be willing to be vulnerable. To share, All, right well take. A break i'll try To Make jeremy fowler CRY of. Espn somehow what do, You, think todd give it.

00:14:18
Speaker 7: A shot.

00:14:21
Speaker 11: It's very emotional with the combine, this time so it shouldn't take too much for you to bring that out.

00:14:25
Speaker 2: Of, HIM well i did survive a fire. Earlier today, You, did Yeah so i'm kind of in an emotional mood here since the CANDLE that i had my incense burning in caught on fire and IT shattered I have ptsd from.

00:14:43
Speaker 3: The, incident yes so you're.

00:14:44
Speaker 7: Pulling it you pulled it together and you're getting. Through it we're very proudy.

00:14:47
Speaker 2: For that but you ran out of the BUILDING where i have no interest.

00:14:50
Speaker 11: In saving anybody's lives or figured out why it went off or where it's.

00:14:53
Speaker 7: Coming fromhim, I'm like i'm going to get out.

00:14:54
Speaker 2: Of here your forty was. Really good that's The fast i've run in a lot With. Plant fashionatis let me take.

00:15:01
Speaker 5: A break it's on three, cone drill getting through that cut inside.

00:15:05
Speaker 7: THE slide i didn't grab a cookie on my way out from. The kitchen you KNOW how i got.

00:15:08
Speaker 2: My priorities we'll take. A break we're back. After this.

00:15:50
Speaker 2: And subscribe more phone calls. Coming up people are sending me a list of all the players who had forty yard dayes in the. Four fives it's a long. List there it's not a death sentence to have a four. To five but, You Know, CARNELL tate i think people thought was gonna run a sub four five and it's kind of a pedestrian, four five two. Or three but he's still a. GREAT player i got to put a little more emphasis on what Happened on saturdays instead Of a saturday At. The Combine jeremy Fowler. THE mothership ESPN senior Nfl Reporter david montgomery traded From the lions To. The texans your thoughts, on that and then what's that Mean For? Joe, Mixon, Yeah.

00:16:39
Speaker 13: Dan david montgomery's trade market might as well have had a trade me sign AT The nfl combine because teams had the full expectation that he would welcome a change. Of scenery That what, jamier gives being the One, In detroit montgomery fell like at age, twenty eight so it's some miles left and he had a good market because he's only do six, Million Dollars so houston gave up a lot to get him a fourth and a seventh, round pick which is a. Little RICH But Gm nick cassario is one of the most aggressive in. The league he will do a trade like that and get ahead of it and just take the, guesswork out even if it means giving up more than maybe he would have.

00:17:09
Speaker 14: Won it so that.

00:17:11
Speaker 13: Certainly helps montgomery will Go into houston as the number. ONE back i think that's pretty clear at. This point they have what he mark's a, young player and that leaves a big question Mark For, joe mixon who is a cap. Casualty, candidate ANYWAYS so i believe that that marriage is probably over at, this point barring. A surprise you know certainly that they loved mixing, last year so maybe there's a chance he can come back healthy.

00:17:33
Speaker 14: This year but it seems like the writing's on the wall With this. Montgomery TRADE.

00:17:37
Speaker 2: Does cj strong get a contract extension before this? New season.

00:17:45
Speaker 3: You?

00:17:45
Speaker 13: KNOW what i actually think there's a trend that could, be brewing and this will be an interesting case study. For that do teams pay quarterbacks the huge money even if that quarterback is not a top tier guy right like we saw it with two, Years Ago, Jared Goff, Trevor Lawrence, jordan love all those guys were kind of outside of the.

00:18:04
Speaker 14: Top ten they all.

00:18:05
Speaker 13: Got paid it worked out, for some it didn't work Out for Miami, in tuoa where they're now stuck with fifty four million dollars in. GUARANTEED money i think the teams are going to rethink that process that they don't have a guy who's at the, top shelf if they have a guy who's in the, middle shelf they might wait, a year make them prove it in that. Fourth year so, You know houston has made clear THEY. Want cj stroud to be their quarterback in twenty. Twenty six what that financial commitment looks like is, still Unknown and i'm not wholly convinced that they're going to. DO it i think they could kind of wait this out a little bit and see what, he does continue to build the team. Around, HIM now i Do believe stroud is not just looking for the most massive number you can. Think of he doesn't want to suppress his, on market but he does know that they got To Pay will anderson the, pass rusher they got to pay some, other pieces they got to build a winner. AROUND him i think he values Being in houston doesn't want to cripple them long term. As well so maybe because, of that there's a sweet spot deal that they can do in the short term that makes sense for. Both SIDES but i just think by, and large teams are going to start. TO wait, I, mean dan, you know you've seen there are eight or nine quarterbacks out there in the last few years of guys that were not very good, coming out, got, benched reset and now they're. Good options so you're not beholden to the draft pick that you selected who's maybe like good and. Not great like you can wait a little bit and you can Find A daniel jones Or A baker mayfield if you, need to, you know just because you don't want to pay the guy you have.

00:19:25
Speaker 2: Right Now kyler murray's market Are the cardinals on the hook for?

00:19:31
Speaker 13: How much so they're on the hook for they've already paid or locked into. SOME guarantees i think it's eighteen million somewhere. Around there he's got another big trigger. COMING up i believe the fifth day of the new. League year so Think mid march is an. ARTIFICIAL deadline i think it's close to. Twenty million it's a pretty big number that would be on the hook for if they let him stay on the roster Through say march fifteenth.

00:19:54
Speaker 14: Or wherever that.

00:19:55
Speaker 13: Date is so that's an artificial deadline that they are going to. Move on it would be a shock if they kept him on. That number so if you, cut them that does open up a situation where, a team because of the guarantees has already, been paid can.

00:20:08
Speaker 14: Get him on a.

00:20:09
Speaker 13: Cheap contract potentially he's gonna. Have value, You, KNOW minnesota i know Is Considering. Kyler murray he's one of their. STRONGER considerations i, would say Along With, geno smith that's probably tier one. For them, you know maybe they look Into The derek, carr SITUATION but i haven't heard anything strong there that teams are in that market. Right now tua would probably be more of, a backup second tier option. For them so all these guys want to Go, To minnesota dan because it's a. Great environment You've got, Kevin O'Connell You've Got, justin jefferson you got some pieces to. Work with that is a hot team right now for the. Quarterback market even though they don't have a lot of money, to spend they have all these quarterbacks that are probably getting cut that are cheap because of the offset language and the guarantees they.

00:20:47
Speaker 2: Already HAVE is jj McCarthy going to? GET cut.

00:20:51
Speaker 13: I would be surprised if he. Gets cut it's a similar Situation To anthony richardson. LAST year i think in a, perfect world they would like to bring, Somebody on like if you Bring On. Geno smith, let's say RIGHT why i think he's Interesting to minnesota is because you know he's had enough struggles where if you bring him in and sell him as a COMPETITOR, to jj you can kind of, sell it but you can also sell it, as yeah he's probably, The starter so you're hedging both ways and you can keep it ALIVE with jj a little bit and maybe he surprises you, in camp but, you know we've all.

00:21:24
Speaker 11: Been.

00:21:24
Speaker 13: There dan it's kind of like when you get broken up with where somebody starts seeing, Other people like when they, do that it's kind of clear it's. Probably over so there's that element TO the jj McCarthy situation. As Well Similarly anthony Richardson With. Daniel jones when They Signed, daniel jones they were probably going to. Start him they were going to have a competition in camp and maybe See if richardson can play, Him out but they sort of knew where it. WAS going i think this is a similar Situation. In minnesota they know where this, is headed but they'll leave a little wigger ROOM for jj to maybe.

00:21:51
Speaker 2: Surprise him Oking To, Jeremy FOWLER mothership ESPN senior, nfl reporter If the steelers Don't Have, aaron rodger what IS plan b?

00:22:03
Speaker 13: RIGHT now i Would SAY plan B Is, will howard who's a six. Round pick you know he that wouldn't be the. Flashy option, but they, you know just talking to, people there they really do like him. A lot, you know he's great in, the huddle in the, locker room he's great. With teammates he's acquitted. Himself well they Felt Like aaron rodgers did a really good job mentoring him last year that he might just be ready to. Play now the flip side of that is they've done a lot of homework on, this draft dating back to really two. Years ago they've been kind of loading up for this draft class to potentially take. A, quarterback now it's not as strong as people thought it was probably going to be six months ago when you had all those names that, you know Whether it's drew Al Or penn state or three or four of them that you thought were going to be in the mix in the. First round it just didn't. Work out so that's the crapshoot of. The draft but they they've done a lot. Of homework or if they took one, this year it would not. Shock me and maybe it's. Somewhere high Maybe It's ty simpson in the late first or they can find a way to get him in, the Second or Garrett nus meyer.

00:22:58
Speaker 14: Day TWO like i do think they've looked long and hard at those type.

00:23:01
Speaker 2: Of Options the, jets situation what did they do? At quarterback.

00:23:09
Speaker 13: Sof for playing, Musical, chairs dan they're probably gonna get the, last chair like who whoever's Left the jets are going.

00:23:16
Speaker 3: To get.

00:23:18
Speaker 13: Why nobody wants to? PLAY there i mean unless they're willing to. Just overpay you have to Overpay In new york to get the guy. You want no nobody wants to. PLAY there i shouldn't, say nobody but it's not an attractive spot for.

00:23:30
Speaker 14: These QUARTERBACKS like I.

00:23:31
Speaker 13: Mentioned minnesota, YOU know i Would say Arizona and miami are both probably slightly more attractive Than the jets. RIGHT now i would, say that and the view of these quarterbacks or people in. The, market Now the Jets Offer, garrett wilson they have a pretty good. Offensive Line. Bryce hall they're probably going to, tag him so you do have some. Pieces there they got a ton of first round picks in the next. Two Drafts, darren MOUGIE the gm has set that up, with trades so you know you might. Have something but they Got. Justin fields he's still the books for ten million. In guarantees, you know they very well could just kind of bite, that bullet cut them and. MOVE on i just think they'll end, up getting, you know one of those. Bridge options Maybe It's jacoby Brissett, in arizona, trade him it could be somebody.

00:24:13
Speaker 14: LIKE that i just don't think they're gonna get the top.

00:24:15
Speaker 2: Top option can somebody build a bridge and name it the, You Know Jacoby, brissette bridge Like The.

00:24:21
Speaker 14: Brisette, bridge, YEAH yeah i mean they.

00:24:23
Speaker 2: Should after all these years he's been a. BRIDGE quarterback i Mean There's, teddy bridgewater but you know it's Like It's. Jacoby Bridgewater kirk cousins sure gonna have.

00:24:35
Speaker 10: A home.

00:24:38
Speaker 13: I think there's a chance. OF that i think he's gonna have to wait a. LITTLE bit i don't sense he's in that top tier guys that's going to get a job right off. THE bat i think he'd be a backup or a third Option. For minnesota backup, AS in, i mean like who they want to sign as. Their, bridge okay, YOU know i think he's sort of in that Group, with tua in that second Tier from minnesota.

00:24:57
Speaker 14: FOR example.

00:25:00
Speaker 13: I don't think he's going to be movement on him heavy out of. The, gate now he's got to be Released. By atlanta that will happen at the new league year, next week and then you go. From there he's played well enough to get a, job somewhere but there's not a clear path right Now that. I'M hearing i think he could just strategically wait a little bit, and look he's GOT this tv situation in his. Back pocket, you know he kind of did a trial basis during, the season did. Pretty well, you know he's good, talking, football like he kind of has that as. AN option i think he still wants, to play but certainly he's intrigued by that side.

00:25:31
Speaker 2: Of things on the broadcast. Media side what about, My Guy.

00:25:34
Speaker 13: Malik Willis malik willis is Gonna get he's gonna get a, Nice contract he's gonna. Get paid some of the numbers that have been floated out there several times, last week thirty plus, MILLION dollars i would shoot. That down i've talked to a dozen teams. About it they don't have him in the thirty million. Dollar range they have him in that twenty million, dollar bucket maybe. Twenty FIVE so i think that's a sweet spot and less things, get crazy and he's just got three teams that have to. Have him miami's dead Definitely in arizona might very well, be in but they also Might Go jimmy garoppolo another bridge option. For you and then the third one WOULD be, i mean, you know like Maybe the jets won't.

00:26:12
Speaker 14: Overpay There but.

00:26:14
Speaker 13: Pittsburgh is not. AN option i don't sense that. Right now cleveland. AS well i Don't think cleveland's. An Option malie wills's Agent Is, david mulligetta Who Has, deshaun watson who has a chance to Start.

00:26:25
Speaker 14: IN cleveland i would be shocked.

00:26:26
Speaker 2: If that do you think that's a legitimate Shot That deshaun watson's his starting quarterback this. UPCOMING season.

00:26:34
Speaker 14: I think it's.

00:26:35
Speaker 13: A shot i don't Know if i'm going to say, legitimate SHOT yet i do believe it's it will be on.

00:26:38
Speaker 14: THE table i was told they're going to let those guys compete.

00:26:40
Speaker 2: In rule but if, he's, healthy though he should be the starting.

00:26:44
Speaker 13: Quarterback WELL and i would say people Close to deshaun would tell you That The Kevin Stefanski deshaun watson fit just it, didn't work and it probably wasn't the offense where he's. Been best you Know That gary kubiak wide zone system where it's a lot under center in the. Play Action todd monkins system will be Better For. Deshaun watson it's more of what he's. Used To todd monkin is sort of. A chameleon, you know he can change his offense a lot of, different ways but he can appeal to the guy who was really good in college and did some spread offense concepts Like. That's deshaun so the feeling, is, like hey let's. Try this maybe he's got this last year left on. His deal we owe him forty six. Million dollars nobody's going to, take him so let's just see how it goes and roll the ball out and See If shador Sanders Or dylan gabriel can beat.

00:27:29
Speaker 2: Him Out the, raiders' situation so You Take. Fernando, MENDOZA yeah i don't assume he's going to start the season as the number one quarterback unless you. Hear OTHERWISE but i think they got to beef up that team a, little bit certainly the. Offensive line who is the backup or maybe who's going to be the starting quarterback With.

00:27:49
Speaker 13: The raiders well that's a big piece to, All, this dan because You Have, geno smith who could find a home as a. Starter, elsewhere still you know last year wasn't all.

00:27:58
Speaker 14: His fault it was a really.

00:27:59
Speaker 13: Bad team AND so i think what's happening here is If your geno, You're, saying OKAY if i, Stay here i'll, Probably start but we're still Bad and i'm playing eight Games that i'm gonna get benched and then my career. Is creator where can they just trade or release me HERE and i can get out and go To a minnesota Or a miami or somewhere to just reset my, career again which he's done. Multiple times and, you know to, his credit he's become a, pro.

00:28:25
Speaker 14: Bowler, you know a couple years Ago. In seattle so that's the sense. Right now i'd be surprised that he's.

00:28:30
Speaker 2: On the Roster.

00:28:31
Speaker 13: IN vegas i think what they'll do is Will draft mendoza and they'll get a steady, veteran somewhere Whether it's aidan O'Connell, who's there or it's, somebody else, you know somebody who can kind of half mentor half play games and just get men does out there when, he's ready, you know whether that's week one or week twelve or. Next year but they're trying to play the long game there with everything they know they need. A lot they're gonna be active and free agency because they. Have to they got one hundred million dollars. To spend they're gonna get a guard or, a center and a receiver and. A linebacker like they have a lot of holes that it's going to take two years. To fill great stuff is always, Thank, You Jeremy, thanks dan. Appreciate It That's jeremy fowler Of. THE mothership ESPN senior. Nfl, reporter yeah there's a whole lot going on in the.

00:29:13
Speaker 2: OFF season i just don't remember this many teams with their quarterbacking position in this kind of a state.
